Ultimate Summer Pasta Salad Recipe

"Is my recipe for penny pasta with corn shrimp and avocado. So you're going to take one and a half cups of penny pasta. Penne pasta works really well with this. You know pasta. There's lots of different shapes. Obviously but penny works really well with this one pound of fresh shrimp cleaned one half of an avocado one cup of fresh corn. No if you can't get fresh frozen we'll do but fresh is available now so check it out. And if you're anywhere near pennsylvania check out our delicious fresh pennsylvania corn three tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil one fresh lemon one clip of garlic parsley taste. So just about a small handful of fresh parsley. You're going to chop that up now. This ingredient is optional. A quarter cup of dry white wine. Salt to taste peppered its haste You're going to boil the water for the pasta when the water comes to a rolling boil at the pasta and cook it according to the directions on the box. I always tell everyone when you're buying dry pasta. Usually the the company that makes it knows exactly how many minutes that pasta should cook to be al dente. Of course you have to taste because not everyone's Electric ranges or gas ranges. Or whatever you using to cook this on are all the same so you know even though it gives you a time to cook the pasta. Make sure you taste the pasta before you take it out of the water but the pasta should be al dente. Cut the avocado into small cubes and place it in a dish. Of course you're going to appeal the avocado and take out the nut in the middle. Then you're going to cut it into small cubes. Place it in the dish. The lemon juice is squeezed. That on top of the avocado does not get brown. You're going to set that aside. Clean the shrimp plays two tablespoons of olive oil in a saute pan and Heat that then. You're going to place in the shrimp that has been puled in clean and saute for one minute. I'd in the white wine saute that for about four minutes you know not too long because shrimp can get rubbery and until all the liquid has just about evaporated. You're going to remove that from the heat and set that aside. Drain your pasta. By this time. The pasta should be done. Drain the pasta. Well at the pasta into the saute pan with shrimp ad in the avocado cubes. The fresh corn another tablespoon of olive oil. And you're going to toss and serve this immediately while it's still warm

Ozuna, Albies Go Back-to-Back as Braves Beat Brewers 6-3

"Losing to the Braves starting pitching matchup in this one. Adrian Hauser on the mound for the crew. Drew Smyly going for Atlanta would be the Brewers, who would strike first in the bottom of the second inning. Avisail Garcia leave the inning off with a double A Travis Shaw ground out moves Garcia to third. And that brings up Louise Aureus. Now the pitch swinging a bullet hit after global Dansby Swanson in the left field on Gloria's will get the runner home sound. They score that one. I think it's gonna be in areas should have caught it. At least for now. That's being ruled a base hit. Although Dansby Swanson would commit an air later on in the inning, But the Brewers weren't able to take advantage of it. They get the one run on two hits. They strand two runners there in the second and say one. Nothing game going into the third. This was a neighboring houses would start to a run into a little bit of trouble. Very angry and so would lead the inning. Awful. They walked and Freddie Freeman with line out a wild pitch from Hauser would send Adrian's a two second. Then they walked to Marcela Zuna that puts runners on at 1st and 2nd. Ozzy al Bees, then lines out. But then Dansby Swanson walks so that loads the bases for Austin Reilly swinging a bouncer off of Hauser. Deflection. Maria's can't get it. One run is in house is going to come in. Ozuna scores to make it a 21 Atlanta lead It deflected off of Hauser. Horace was going over to get it and he might have had a chance to get it if it doesn't hit Hauser That would push wants into third than William Contreras is hit by a pitch so multiple walks a hit batter there in the inning. Hauser would get out of it with a strikeout to enter and see our days. The Braves leave him loaded. They put do put two runs across there in the third, and it is a 21 game. That would be it for

Why Less Credit-Card Debt Is a Problem for Banks

"At the start of the pandemic banks and credit card companies. Were bracing for people to charge more and fall back on their payments. But that didn't happen. More americans are paying off their credit card debts. At a faster pace discover capital one and synchrony financial the largest issuer of store credit cards all reported a decline in card balances in the first quarter compared to the year before that may be good news for consumers but those numbers have credit card issuers and banks worried annamaria andreatta's covers consumer credit for the wall street journal and she joins me now to explain. Hi anna maria. Thanks for being here. Great to be speaking with you so annamaria. What's behind this trend. Several things behind declining credit card debt. I there's the different types of government assistance that have helped people to pay down their credit card bills so that includes things like the stimulus payments that the government has sent out since the beginning of the pandemic for some people it has also included the enhanced unemployment benefits and also making a pretty big difference in people's ability to pay are the forbearance plans that have put many mortgage and student loan payments on pause. So people who had to send hundreds or thousands of dollars in monthly debt payments either on their student loans or mortgages. Have not to do that for quite a while. Now and what some have been doing is they've they've worded the payments that they were sending towards their mortgage or their student loans to pay down their credit card debt. So what are you hearing from credit card companies. How is this playing out. This is a mixed bag for credit card issuers. What they're saying is look on the one hand. The news is positive. Here because delinquencies have not increased as we expected them to. At the beginning of the pandemic people are in a position to pay their credit card bills in doing so and we are dealing with low losses as a result. So that's a good thing but on the flip side of that a prolonged period during which credit card debt is falling ads downward pressure onto the interest income and the revenue that credit card issuers earn so for many card issuers revenue is largely dependent on the interest income that they receive essentially the interest charges that people pay to their credit card issuers carrying balances from month to month. So there's pressure right now on that front of downward pressure on interest income for the issue. Because that's not happening much anymore. I mean several issues talked about the fact that they are seeing consumers paying down more credit card debt essentially making bigger payments towards their credit card bills at rates that are higher than they've been years so essentially what issuers are seeing in the clear cut. Way is that if this trend continues on for a longer period of time he could have negative impacts on their revenue.

Being Victimized by Scams is Solvable [Test]

"Episodes are out every friday. This is solvable. I'm jacob weisberg there. Only a few real cons that exist and the bones of the story are the same and they've been the same for centuries also maria conaco. Vince would writing about these number of years book. The confidence game explores stories of con-artists opportunists people who build up our trust and then take everything we have think bernie madoff the late investors who destroyed countless lives with false promises and financial theft but before we pledged to fight to abolish scams. Remember this another side to those familiar. Stories to the flip side of our vulnerability to cons is human connection and trust and all the good stuff. So how do we protect our loved ones in ourselves. We'll scams being enduring part of society forever because we refuse or are unable to learn from our mistakes rather than admitting i was dumb. I felt for a scam you say. Oh no no cure all of the mitigating circumstances and it probably wasn't even a scam. So i think that it takes a strong person. It's embarrassing So can scams be solved. Rea- konakov thanks so being victimized by a scam is actually a solvable problem. Maria has gone from investigating the lies. We tell ourselves to mastering the bluff herself by learning to play poker at a world class level and writing about that too so i started by asking her why she so hooked on these concepts of big and small manipulations. My first book was about sherlock holmes. So i've traveled this gamut from you know. How do you be detective to okay. What are the what are the bad guys doing to kind of being the bad guy myself but within a game right so so so there are rules And one of the reasons that i've that it's been such a passion of mine is that i hate to see in re in reality. Not in a game. I hate to see people being taken advantage of. And how often that happens. And how scammers often will target the most vulnerable parts of our population the most vulnerable people and then we as a society target again by blaming them and by saying oh well. You're just stupid. You were just greedy. You were just dumb. You shouldn't have fallen for it. I wouldn't have fallen for it and that just gets me. Yeah well i was going to ask you because of your longstanding interest. I mean this personal for you in any way of you've been scammed yourself or people close to you been victims of scams. I personally have not been scammed. That i know of but one point i always make is that you know. The scams are ones that you're probably not aware of so i. i'm sure i've been scammed on small things and when you're about to get on the subway someone stops you and says hey you know. I'm so sorry. I lost my wallet. Do you have the fair for the subway for the bus for the train. I need to get back to my family. And there's so many excuses and you can do one of two things you can say. I think you're con artist. I'm not going to give you any money on. Walk on you feel shitty. You feel like a bad person because they actually needed you. I've lost my wallet. I've needed help in the past. And i think we bought we probably been on the other side of that and so the trade off is yom maybe get scammed. But i'd rather take the risk of being the victim of scammer in that particular instance and. I'm sure i've been scammed that way. Well that's interesting. I mean i have experienced instill sticks with me from high school. I remember in chicago where i was growing up walking through lincoln park and there was a guy kinda ragged looking walking with a gas can and he stopped me and told me this whole sad story about how he was trying to get back to florida to see a family card run out of gas and he needed the money for gas. Now was probably fifteen years old or something like that. I think i gave him ten dollars. Which would have been a lot of money to me. At the time and i felt good about myself for doing that and then a week later i was walking through the park and there was the same guy looking around with this gas can And it just it sticks with

The island has long been a locus of both entitlement and apathy but next week politicians some of them anyway. We'll be paying attention on april fourteenth wednesday at one pm eastern time the national resources committee which oversees territorial affairs will consider two competing bills one would provide for the admission of puerto rico as a state the other would provide for true self determination. "I got this perations right. This novel so in a nutshell in the afrikaner is a tale of human. Sean setting the great african wilderness. I was in south africa between nine hundred ninety six and two thousand right at the andhra partied and at the beginning of your new government. A government led by nelson mandela. Stop ahead the afrikaner is a story of zoe. Duplicity if mid paleontology's scientists who goes into a scorching desert the desert of the color early in amoeba to look for fossils but mainly to look for herself to to look for a place for her in the new south africa and also to face a family's dark secret in this kind of journey of atonement and also self discovery. Zoya will have minimum for encounters. And also i open encounters with a travel writer as sand. Bushmen salmon and wove action roster. So as you see it's a kind of an adventure story mass it very visual and Inspired by those years there where i was able to meet and talk to many people across the The whole societal range of ethnicities and races. So let's just think that. In south africa there are eleven official ethnic groups of eleven official languages. Wow oh there are i. I was not aware of that well. And and it sounds like you. We were talking before we started the interview. And you told me that you did. You re wrote a script now for the novel hoping to turn it into a film and actually after the novel was published many readers to me that zoya story we story was very compelling and highly visual and that would have made a beautiful movie and especially thinking that it could have been set in the majestic beauty of southern africa together with my writing partner. dr amnesty mattis. Who is the head of a cinema and film studies department at u c. I have also written as cream. Play based on the afrikaner and now I'm looking for a producer and but these covy times stopped all everything that was going to do. Yes yes exactly. yeah i know. The film industry has either stopped or slowed down in in many places. So yes that's true but at least you have a start because you you Developed the script now so when things open up. You're you know you're ready to act. In the meantime i worked on. Nava project co elected to their book for example on the the overdue book together with a los angeles based south african voice actor. Dennis kleinman would voice and so we in the spring the audiobook will be published and i love danny's voice because he has these beautiful south african accent..

Take a at some of these things that i had listed on my blog for the amazing uses that are inside your kitchen cabinets and some of these may surprise you so coconut oil. It moisturizes your skin can and it can fend off infections. some people use it as a deodorant. If they want to go natural coconut oils natural sent also makes it a good way to clean. "Of your enjoyment of whiskey. Ken be visual. And not just your mouth. That you'll color does matter. Is there anything to like an odor. Because i know like sometimes with olive oil. You know their specific odors to. It's not just the taste but it's the road or you know Anything with a specific odor like specific sense. That's coming from you know a lot of the odors. The nose on your whiskey is going to vary based on whether it's berber and awry or sky so it'd be really tough to say. Hey doc watch out for this kind of smell because right not going to be a good one. Yeah they watch out for sulfur. Sulfur smell to it. That's not gonna be good. You gonna want to avoid that. But that said the iodine smell could be released tastic. If you like heated scotches server. There's gonna be some overlap on that you know. Certainly if you're buying any sort of a butter popcorn snell you probably want to avoid that often. Oftentimes bananas can be a challenge. But sometimes it's intentional. sometimes it's not But again i. I think the key is try it. Yes that's to me. That's the joy of whiskey. Is that different people like different ones. And you know g get a load up five five good friends. They're all whiskey fans You're gonna have ten different opinions. Which was the bust so there is no. There is no right or wrong answer. There may be right or wrong answers for you as an individual like you and me. Maria maria and paul are going to have different favourite whiskeys. Yeah that's a good thing. That's not a sign that one of this better or worse than the other one. It's that's the joy it's like music or art. That's my favorite band. Could be different than your favorite band and my favorite painters going to be different than your favorite painter. So i think that's kind of key. I think a lot of people get wound up on your. What's the best. What's the best. Yes yes a best does really exist. That's that's probably true. I think the main thing is and i might not have raised that either but to make sure that you have a really good you know experienced so that it's equality product. I think is what i guess. I'm always looking for because you're right. There's really an end really. If you're right it's what you like. Then that's really the best for you. But i always laid people to know how to get that a true experience of equality product. But i mean your product is is more of a craft beverage. So i'm sure it's equality product anyway. Great then and they are. It's craft you know kraft products so you know a started to get into whisky. Always recommend i You'll take a sip of it neat second. Take a sip of it on the rocks. And then try. You'll try a couple of different cocktails so try. If you're into whiskey and coke. Try it with coke. If you read to manhattan's try in a manhattan. That's the only thing that makes whisky really cool is that you'll a whiskey that maybe you don't like as much mutate. Maybe like a lot better on the rocks or this whiskey. That you like in manhattan. Maybe you don't like it on the rocks that you do like it. Knee others whiskies really fun and so you can really play around with that other beverages. You don't really do that like you. Don't mix different beers together to see if you like that beer better that way or you don't mix wine but you can play with whiskey and you can drink it so many different ways none of which of the correct way none of which are the wrong way. Exactly you know..

They don't cook with wine and it's kind of the same thing so i'm thinking you know what you probably 'cause you know so much about beer so so tell you know. I know we started talking about. Because i was mentioning that the last time i was in italy because of the rising prices of wine and food trends people even in italy are getting more into beer then wine and they're cooking with your an beer is just all over the place so i was really shocked because i was seeing more people coming out of stores with lots of different beers than wine. Which about you know ten to fifteen years ago you would hardly see them buying beer there every so often you would but but anyway. So you're telling me there's some really interesting beers coming out of italy are i was actually exposed to them. primarily in new york city. Believe it or not At a place. I know you're familiar with is called. Italy s yes absolutely remarkable One of the principals involved with that was a fellow. By name of sam kelly joan. Who as you probably know. "There's a lot to it. Typically it's yeast a Lotta guys are using doing all ferments or they're doing Starts it's not traditional to do a stalker but people are doing I do it. So yes whatever makes it work. I guess whatever way because not everybody has access to everything all the time that you just said and that kind of leads to my next question so with everybody at home and I always your everybody's getting takeout which is fine too because you can still get takeout pizza delivery but if anybody wants to try and make their own is do any suggestions for doing something like simply if somebody doesn't have access to all that stuff definitely right now currently making peace at home it's so popular There are people who are running out markets running out of flour my little market that I sell the influx of online delivery sales. When it comes to beat the flour is one hundred percent. It's just how insane so when it comes to making rate pizza at home see things I think about one is a higher gluten higher pro seapower better in another around five degrees most of our five hundred five twenty and when you're looking at the whole purpose lower you know if I look at a shelf and I saw okay. Let's say I had here. Nassir there was there all purpose or they had their so Lancelot Lancelot Higher Rosy Brown. Better better it's just an around better flour when you cooking at five hundred degrees also a brand new agent so using a sugar or a mall which I use A. I like to try to find a nice static mall which you can find online. I like he used that as a running agent rather than sugar because at five hundred degrees. You need a little help and Brownie. Typically a double zero flower from Naples. Isn't the rice lower to us in a five hundred? Everyone says hey. I wanted to have that flower great. It's what the policies you but when you go from nine hundred Res Restaurant and you go to five hundred degree in your In your home that's why our typically isn't the best for it so look for a higher protein flower. Look at a brown agent. Keep your dog recipe and said doing the same day. I'd rather do it in twenty four hours because any time you use older go. It's always more vegetable. It's always better flavor more matic and when it comes to the digest ability east on simple sugars but the more I guess the will and that they'll be so you don't WanNa make the dough the same day and I think we all time right now probably make data floor and and they use it next. You'll find the results are better. The other thing is is a stone or a steel. You have a baking stone or steel. Typically when you buy a stone back in the day it was one stuff and when you when you're cooking in a restaurant you have a lot of realistic when you're cooking and so like if. I place my pizza in one spot. I can move to another spot in the bottom in your home and you. Have you have two racks. One on the upper level one in lower level and try to invest another another steel Put Two stones in. It stuck your pizza on top. Go halfway for about five minutes and taking him finish it on the bottom and out you'll get a much crispier stronger pizza. You'll get a better big. The bottom will be nice and crispy so always look this. I'm trying to invest in two not one And also the point is of. Make sure that you're finishing radiance or more. Then you're you're ingredients. They get cooked me a lot of times home. Just put everything on and Cook it and you take it out and it's the soggy. It's wet remember. The agreements like Parmigiano Reggiano or cherry tomatoes or goat cheese or fetter items like are like oil pursue. Persada those candles on at the end. So sure not everything has to be cooked. You don't have to put the kitchen sink in it and you'll find you'll have way better results by just doing a very standardized finish with some parade quality ingredients. Wow that's that's great really great. Tips and Gosh she made me hungry Peter now on to I do want people to be able to find you and hear about. What can you tell us like? Is there any project we should look for? Or You WanNa tell us your website or your definitely. I mean it's just home chefs out there. I wrote the Bible over two years. Every three cookbooks One children's shows and actually had some recipes in but my most recent book keeping Bible. You can find that pretty much everywhere if you're looking to Detroit. South East of Saint Louis Neapolitan Roman classic American all the styles in with the dough recipes Some of my restaurants that I have mostly based in San Francisco in Las Vegas but I do have some in Sacramento Tony Economically Lighthouse Pizza Rock Those are the main ones and a couple of other places like capitals. And if you're looking for ingredients You're looking for that specific. Lower Giovanni specialties in San Francisco. Now you're selling order out of the sixty pound bags now it's It's GonNa be pretty saying and right now to there is a shortage of east What's happening and that's that's another thing that you if you have if you go to a store stock up on us because there's a nationwide sort of in the restaurant industry coming this week and then it already hit the grocery stores so yes and so.
