"It is now six thirty. We're gonna have updates on today. Cyber Monday shopping for you coming up in just a moment. The president tweeting on the Mexican US border issues at this hour. It is going to be warm today. Eighty four degrees later this afternoon. A major cold front coming in tonight by tomorrow night. We'll be into the thirties and forties. How do you like that top story? This morning. Trouble on the border as the group of migrants. Try to make a run for America butter, turn back with tear gas get a scuffle caused the US Mexico border between Tijuana and San Diego Joe to be close for hours on Sunday trapping people on both sides who were trying to cross legally they go back to school tomorrow. And I was supposed to cross right after his sock game. Which it usually takes me about ten minutes to get back home with more on what led up to tear gas being fired at the migrants. Here's reporter MARCY Gonzalez, definitely got very tense riot police trying to push the crowds of migrants back away from the border because it really was such a Harry's situation there for a while there are about five thousand migrants from that caravan who had made it here to wanna and some of them were trying to cross into the US illegally. Now is Joe told you President Trump tweeting this morning about the caravan. Here's what he had to say. Mexico should move the flag-waving migrants. Many of whom are stone cold criminals back to their countries. Do it by plane. Do a by Boston. Do it any way you want? But they're not coming into the USA. We will close the border permanently. If need be congress fund the wall from the president. Well, here's some advice. Absolutely. No one will listen to today. Don't go and buy things because they're on sale cyber Monday. The update. "Then according to US officials things start to escalate the migrants broke Pru. Mexican police lines into the area between the two countries. Dozens of people go into the sort of concrete ravine go right up to the fence some start to climate secretary of homeland security cures to Nielsen says rocks started being thrown across the fence at border agents. And that's when things go from chaotic too scary. That's when tear gas and pepper balls were launched toward the crowd. ABC's? Marcy Gonzalez is in the streets of Tijuana right now among those migrants. Marcy, I mean at one point you found yourself between Mexican riot police, and these protesters how volatile did it get here. Definitely got very tense, Brad. Right. Please trying to push the crowds of migrants back away from the border because it really was such a Harry's situation there for a while there are about five thousand migrants from that caravan who have made it here to Tijuana and some of them were trying to cross into the US illegally. Not all there were families with children who were standing kind of in the background, but they say that border patrol agents started firing tear gas into the crowd, and I've been talking to some of these families out here. We're at the ten city. I guess you'd call it where many of these migrants are now staying into you wanna waiting for the next step waiting to see if they'll be able to apply for asylum, and I'm talking to a mother who said she saw tear gas canisters land right in front of her children that their eyes were watering there were screaming and crying. I had a fifteen year old come up to me in hand me a used here gas. Canister saying that it came just inches away from hitting him. So it was an incredibly tense situation here, but but wait MARCY, we were told over and over again that the plan for this caravan was to go up to the border approach border, checkpoint and ask for asylum. I mean, what happened to that? Mexican authorities are saying about five hundred people tried to cross illegally. But again, there are about five thousand people here. So it certainly wasn't a majority. They say it was mostly men who were trying to cross. And again, I've been speaking to these mothers who came here with their young children, and they they had no intention of trying to cross illegally. That's not why they went up to the border. There was a March for solidarity on the other side in California. And they say they want to the border just to have a visible presence to show their appreciation for the support. They're getting from some people in the US. That's the only reason they were there these mothers tell me they plan to just wait here in who. Ghana or the opportunity they hope to apply for asylum. But they say most people are following the rules not trying to cross illegally those those five hundred or so people were hearing about and seeing these images of they say, we're the exception from President Trump has threatened to shut down not just the one border crossing, but the entire US Mexico border. You're on your way to Mexico when the San Ysidro crossing shut down. I mean, what was it like to have that one checkpoint shutdown? Yeah, we were almost to that border crossing when they shut down all of the freeways leading into Mexico in that area and tell you 'cause bumper to bumper traffic we went through a different border crossing not far from there. But once we got through to the other side into Uganda again, bumper to bumper traffic, you couldn't get anywhere. And it's a big issue because there are a lot of people who do business on both sides of the border. Marcy talking to the people. Who are there you stay safe Marsin? We'll talk to you later. All right. Thanks, brad..
