"Had to turn the heaters off on the bench. It was that nice. So a little different this time around. Yeah, it was still going to be great. Minnesota ones are pretty used to the cool. Yeah, they don't care. They'll be out there boosted up. I mentioned I get drafted in 2008. I think a lot of people are curious. You would drafted by the islanders and then you signed as a free agent with Minnesota. What happened? Did they renounce your rights? Like, take us through that process how that went down. Yeah, they just said drafted another couple D band ahead of me and obviously 6 round pick wasn't too high on their list. So I went to one camp. I missed the second one at shoulder surgery in the off season. And so didn't go there. And then when you get time to sign, there wasn't much talk. So I think my agent falling like the day before, I was like, hey, we're doing HL anything. And they're like, nope, you're good. So luckily, gotta try out here in the summer, and then went from there. Driver city. I mean, that's pretty crazy. Pretty understated though. It was like last minute the fact that you end up getting a driver city to even get involved with the wild where I heard that there was a story that you were planning on maybe heading over to Europe to maybe play with your brother at that time? Yeah, so I was going to go play Salzburg Red Bull. So I had that sort of in the back pocket and then I was like, well, you got Travers here with Minnesota. So did that figure to try it out for all the teams there at the time sort of showcase your stuff and worked out from there. We had a great team in Houston too that we ended up going to the finals that year. So it couldn't work out better. So that year, I think you only played around 20 games in the minors, right? And was it you were playing that well, it was called up, you got your chance, and then went back down for the playoffs. Is that home? Yeah, so my 21st birthday, I called up on so that was pretty cool. Were you hurting? No. You know, luckily it was the game actual game day, so it was perfect, but now the team in Houston is doing really well. So I think that definitely helped. And they had a couple injuries up here, so we think that there's one guy already up and then I happen to be the next guy in line. So it was in Calgary close to home, family came to watch, so it's pretty special. Do you ever stop to think that you were this close from going overseas? And you're such an incredible player, you probably would have eventually came back and established NHL career, but sometimes guys do get lost in the shuffle and they end up having a great career over there. Do you ever just stop and think of like the fact that you're days away from going there and then now this is your life for the NHL? Yeah, I think it's all about opportunity and your chances. Like you said there's so many good players that play the game that just don't get that chance whereas maybe a demon doesn't get hurt and then they miss their opportunity to come up and show their stuff and you're stuck behind someone. So definitely would have been different. It worked out obviously. I love it here. So it's great. Do they get your flat passes and transition that suitor was a puppet puppy or tires on? Do you think that that's what eventually got you to the National Hockey League ones? Yeah. He says he says in transition you through the flattest passes, always on the tape, never really jam it up his partner throwing grenades at him. A try. Well, then I don't have to play diesel. I can get caught the other way. What are you gonna say there? I was gonna, no, I was just gonna say it. In the end though, if he'd gone to Europe, he could have ended up KHL playing for maybe CSK made more than 7. A 100 million over that little defense video. Yeah, you took a pay cut to his Billy down there. Yeah, no. Yeah, seriously, Bill, you're getting a deal. Yeah. As an undersized defense would go to offensive instincts. It was there any players you modeled yourself out? There's a kid as a young guy. A huge fan of Dan Boyle ski. So we're watching them growing up once. I was a Ford growing up until I was 14, 14 and then switched it up. That's when I switched. We have a lot of similarities in our game too. Yeah. So yeah, switched when I was like 14, 15, so that's when I started watching, but when I was a kid growing up, it was dougie weight. So tell Billy that every day too. It was always dougie not him. And the oilers. When he used to pacity of Billy, I was like, give it back to him. Tos back. I'm going back to the fact that this is an outdoor game, you and your brother, Tyler, you guys battled quite a bit on the pawn and Edmonton growing up and a lot of that going on. Yeah, we had the backyard ring for two years and now having one I know why my dad stopped right away. It's hard work. Oh, you got one in your yard right now right now for the kids, but it sucks shoveling. They don't help ever. So I was like, no wonder he gave us the rink like blocks away. So yeah, we were four, four and a half years apart. So I was always trying to catch up to him and he just like, he's bigger, stronger than me. It still is to this day, so you still beat the wheels off. At those times, I mean, being younger and were you always dreaming of playing the NHL or something that your whole life, you were like, it wasn't, it wasn't like, I don't know, who cares? It was more like, this is my goal this is all I want. Yeah, and I think you played an Edmonton, you know how passionate. I felt it. Why wouldn't you say that? Yeah. But wouldn't be before I was on the other side, I was a fan. But no. He's bullying a tunnel..

"Expect the balloon animals. Merle's, that would be an all time. Can you want me to go? I don't know. It depends if we get pre hawkes on merle's who turned in an NYC merle's breaking glasses because you were so crippled at dinner. I went to bed. I was in bed by 1130. I'll say that. Buckled it down injury. Buckle the dinner. There was a little one of those game of telephone instances where murr was buckled a glass was broken. He got up and went to the bathroom. I heard I heard he's bleeding. He cut himself. I go into bathroom to find him and make sure everything's okay. He was gone. He was smart enough, another less of the people at home. When you know you've had enough and you're crippled murder said, I'm taking myself out of this situation. Don't be a lurker. I'm shutting it down. And luckily, I said, where's the cut this morning when we met up? And he goes, it's right here. It's a paper cut half a centimeter. I think that the broken glass was timed and gave you the mess. It wasn't me. It was the kid next to me. There's a broke. Yes, I took the bullet for him. I just got your team guy. There's always a fork in the road. There's Minnesota RA. Or there's Merc, putting himself the bed, right? There's a fork. There's always a fork, and then all of a sudden either end up puking and ice fishing or you end up fucking great. I went home and went to bed I woke up fresh today. Buzzing. Vegas. Do you know Wally Pitt at me right now? No, I love it, buddy. I love it. I love it. We haven't mentioned that I guess yet, but we got a pair of Minnesota wild players coming on in a bit Jared spurgeon a micros felino from I went to classic trip, some good stuff coming. I want to talk about a couple of the other highlights from the skills competition on Friday, kind of glossed over it. Corel capris off dressed up his ovi. Another player in the league shirt and he did the squeeze bottle and they did a little Sally fire fire stuff, but fake birth certificate, Putin made him do that. That was one of the celebrations of black card. That was one of the years he got 50 was the celebration when the stick too hot. And he also did it righty. Naturally, even though he's left, so that was pretty good. Wait, the goalie we had for the big deal selects Mike McKenna was the goalie that he scored on. I think he said that. That was McKenna out there. He goes, I think it wasn't it? He goes, I'm the goalie that he did the hot thing on. That was our goalie. That is a fun fact. Yeah, you're talking about back when he scored the 50th. When he scored that original thing that suffice it. It was Mike McKenna who ended up being the big deal selects goalie. Stunk, no offense, Mike. But yes, so a little fun fact towards the whole ball hockey tournament Mike McKenna stepped in for a few games. Bach is a different sport. It curves. It curves. The ball curves a couple of banana hooks here and there and McKenna hope you work on your ball hockey skills, but your goalies gave up a lot of goals from the defense of that. You need better attending and they were working and grinding and shout out Dan. He's from the wounded warriors. The Vegas wouldn't worry. The biggest food in warriors, hockey team, he hopped in. He won you guys a game and after I was chatting with him and it was on our Twitter, I said, great job. Yeah, she didn't want to say it before, but I'm blind in one eye from when he was fighting for our country. So that was a great moment. But as I pump his tire, you also kind of were really struggling the second game. I love you. So you need some goaltending before buffalo. Big deal selects are looking for a goalie for buffalo. You actually talk exactly. You talk to Gronk earlier about potentially being in the booth. That Gordy gonk was in the booth before he dropped who should be getting credit for all the success because the older brother is always the one beating him off to make him strong enough to compete at higher levels. You're welcome come on. We asked him to play and then he volunteered himself to be goalie and that's when I called biz over. I'm like, this is your guy. It brings us back to when biz talked about bringing the group in for this trip on the bench guys. Jacob and all he thanks for coming. I kind of mentioned, well, you're going a little celebrity road. Do you want to win or do you want to make it a show? So he needs a goalie to win. So Gronk would be amazing and would you pass over winning for content? That's the decision you have to make. Are you down to win are you down to keep being the most entertaining man in hockey? I'll talk to Terry Ryan senior after this Vegas trip after he's gotten a 7 day rest period and we're gonna make we're gonna go back to the dragon board. Maybe we'll bring on Stevie bong rips as a team assistant general manager. Somebody said they saw him in a dispensary here in Vegas. He was hitting it up. I'm Donny, I got a guy. I'm telling you, I'm done. I'm done playing. I'm gonna move the bench. I have somebody to replace me. And these are the national team. These are the Canadian national team guys telling me this that he's the best ball player they've ever seen. He's a current NHL, and you're not going to give it away, right? I'm not going to tell you that. But I got him signed for the big deal. He's in the current NHL. And these are guys are playing this ball hawk. They say, that's the best player I've ever seen. You're the conversation. I got them for us. Teddy was getting shout out to in terms of dominating. I think I know you want to get rid of me out of your organization. You're trying to get rid of the organization. I got myself in the organization. I'm going to bring this guy for us and I'm just coaching. I'm going to open the door. I broke your door open. I'm the head coach with Terry senior, but he needs a little help with getting sucked back into the ball hockey talk because it's what we do on the show. Well, it was a great weekend. I have a million other things to say about it. That was a great little skit on the spirit of Chris angel, David Klopp, doctor. Do you guys catch that? He put the fucking Chris angel mind freak at hawk assault until 4 a.m. last night. And then the block Jack tables. You guys see the first game you played in the All-Star Game?.

"Or whatever the fuck that line is called. Gary I'm with you I want hockey in the desert to work. Give me all you got Gary. How are you fucking ricketts lost Matthews could come to the desert? He's talking grew up there. Hey, hey. Sorry. WWF. Hey. Sorry. What should the good or bad? We're getting fucking boat, guys. Horrible. Horrible. I actually hear there's a chance Shane Wright might refuse to be drafted. My wife is breaking news. I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding, but who knows if 5000 seats maybe says, I don't think so fellas. I'm coming off the fucking top ropes on Shane. If he dodges the coyotes. Why wouldn't Eli? One way for the Chargers. What a great place to live, San Diego. Is Eric lunch, the last guy to Dodge a place where he was drafted. As far as as I can remember, all right? I don't know if the top might officially we were doing this back in the OHL. No, not we. Well, I used to be cool. I used to be my buddy Tim Conley, was gonna be the number one overall pick in the 90s, 8 OHL draft. And north bay, is that a team? The sentinels. That's where I was after. And they were like, we're not going there. He's not going there. She's like, I'm only going, he's like, I'm going to the U.S. program. Just eerie. He was not going to the U.S. program. But he got himself away from north bay in sudbury by using that to get drafted by eerie in the 5th slot. So this has been going on and yeah, it doesn't always become public, but this is just a complete thing I made up. I don't even know what I'm saying. So you're saying Shane writes my audience. I don't want to come. I'm going to college. Oh, I think they won't even get to that point. It's the same, why do you think nobody sitting Crosby was a lottery? It was Anaheim or Pittsburgh the last two. Here's the thing that you think they didn't know which envelope they picked. You have a lot more leverage. That's a guy being drafted to the national league. Let's say I'm a team, right? And let's say that she writes this, I don't want to come in the coyotes. Well, I'm taking a dump on his parents car in the driveway. That's a guarantee. And number two is but they're going to pick them regardless because they can trade them for as many assets as they want as opposed to skipping on the guy. What I'm trying to say is that won't even get to that point. Phoenix will Arizona will lose the lottery. Yeah, he's saying they'll never give them. You don't want they're never going to want NHL's there. Sorry. Exactly. Let's move on from the shit backyard. And I actually let that happen. And no offense, because that's harsh word I just said, that's harsh. I played for Arizona coyotes. With Wayne, Wayne was my coach. I have three games. I have a total of 12 minutes I stuff. About the same issue. Positive notes for the oats just quickly to end this Clayton Keller. Having a really sick year. He looked awesome. There are no three on three, but he's made a big step this year. So that's definitely what they need in terms of getting a little better. All right, what do you got? All three games went on to talk to him when the final game had three dis log goals. I got a question from the only Tito says they should go one ref, no lines and take out the lines. What do you think? Just for the All-Star Game yeah, like bond hockey style the most. I think I'm open to any idea for all star. I said that last week, I think you should make it hunger games style. I think that I think it's fair to say the skills in my opinion have taken over viewership wise than the actual game. And sometimes it's hard to get the guys when competing against each other going as hard as they want as opposed to like an individual skill. So maybe not maybe the maybe the final stage is like assembling a random team on both sides where they compete against each other for the money. But how you get there should be individual skills based and if you're not good in those individual skills, you get dropped off of the first day. So you kind of eliminate them just like you would. You bracket. There's so many fun silly ideas you could do with the NHL All-Star Game in order to gain viewership. And I think that the smaller segments like the skills Garner the most attention because then afterward the guys are a little bit looser because it's not a game. It's you get the interview afterwards. But that's not, you know, they did an incredible job incorporating new things they did at the Bellagio fountain. So keep pushing the limits. Keep doing silly shit. Get more from the players behind the scenes. Keep pushing that narrative. I said this to you. I like this idea. What if they did like Olympic style? Like the three on three, what if that's U.S. three USA players? Three Canada players three Sweden players because then people are going to get behind their country. You know what I mean? And then they'll get behind their fellow countrymen as well. Maybe, yeah. Olympic style built. There's enough players from all the countries now. Exactly enough. Obviously, Ken is always going to be number one. Give them two teams in. There's two Canadian teams. Exactly. Look, you mentioned that final was U.S. Russia. We'd be like, all right, we gotta watch this. Exactly, or even USA, Canada. And then if you put the Swedes against the fins, those guys will kill each other. Yeah. Don't go harder than they do in their NHL game. I'm saying lower the case. They lower the case. Those guys have that. We're onto some nationalism. The little nuts. So the Finns hit the ruskies more than the Swedes given like all the history there. Finland, Sweden, the biggest rivalry for hockey, for they just, they always want to beat each other. Well, you live in Sweden, so do they talk shit about Finns? Oh yeah, there's always the jokes and what do they say? I know when I was in England and I was living in Wales and they used to call a sheep fuckers. A lot of trouble if I tell these jokes. I gotta go live there. No, no, buddy. I played in card if I was called the sheep fucker dude. Are you a fucking cheap? I'm a hate, you know, it was a lonely trip. I mean, 7 weeks, you know, bump, there's no bumble over there. Anyway, back to you. What would you say something to someone from Finland? Yeah, you're a you're a, you're a sauna addict. Well, there's gonna be a lot of why I'm considering myself a suite. We're better than them already. You know what I mean? So we don't even deal with them. They cheer bus. It's kind of like Canada U.S.. I don't have anything to chirp a Canadian because I already know I'm better. You guys are the ones that have the chirps against us. Does that make sense? I think 50% of our listeners are Canadian. So I love Canada. You've just lost half your EBR following. I love EBR. I love Canada. We're coming up there soon. I get more messages. Can we get the cannon? And I go, we're coming soon. Double wrist, they're coming. Thanks. Hey, I love Cana morning. I played Nick Toronto metro league. Poutine is my favorite food in the world. Harvey's no free ads is my favorite burger joint. What's fresh back from a mid pass mid podcast crunch spitting out business?.

"And as I mentioned leaders have ever clear as much sugary drink as possible that's on the house, maybe some water, maybe, and a couple of the bathroom visits. From the bouncer. And as you had no game plan, she says, well, why don't we start with some champagne? And listen, sir, Mikey G versus star of the deep position. At this point, she says, why don't you start with the DOM too? 'cause you're celebrate. I see your checklist cup. Next thing, you know, we got this stupidest, most ridiculous light show that they do in clubs, which by the way, I love. I got to go back and say, I loved it. I have to get lasik because of it. And I see 6 bottles of DOM. I'm like, granelli. The whole goddamn table budget was blown. Time for everybody had got to. Nobody even had their wristbands on and fucking the whole budget had been blown on Don perignon for a fucking roller hockey win in the fucking seat division. The deep dish. It was three bottles of dome. Two bottles to Magnum buck vodka bottles and a bunch of Red Bulls. I'm drinking vocal Red Bulls. I don't care. I was fine. Everybody in their aunt who was here for the All-Star Game was showing up to that table last night. I mean, I would have took it away. That's what iterate jug full of everclear. And that would have been good. I signed the tab now gratuitous included and we're out of here. And another minute I'm telling you guys, your kids listen home. Always get a case of beer because everybody's coming up to your table. Give me a drink, give me a drink. Give them the $6 beer. Yeah. $800 bottle of vodka. So you always I remember taught you that your rookie taught me a lot. Yeah, four bottles. And hold on to your favorite group of guys out there, maybe charge people on the way by to sniff the vodka because that's how it may be a buck a pop, just to sniff the bottle. They get to lick the top, but hold on to get back some of the dough. So when you imagine your crew there, I mean, it's all the behind the scenes people we talk about. And then the barstool personalities, I love barstool chief. I like, you know, Jordy, like these aren't DOM Perry on guys. None of us need a DOM. I love you guys, but I'm the same way. We don't need DOM Perry. I drank toilet water here in Vegas. I used to go over to the bathroom and fill my cup up for the first few years I was coming. Chris why don't you pay for the hotel and all the money you lost to the tables? I mean, it adds up, right? Speak for yourself. Internet Internet Internet for you just because you struck out three nights and pay for the Internet $10 when I'll lose 300 at the crap statement. That's what I'm saying. Give me a fucking password. Best for it. In my defense, in most she sounds cute. In my defense. We had two tables. Sorry. We're about 25 people. I had to worry about sponsors. I had to worry about behind the scenes people. I had to worry about NHL players. I had to worry about all the barstool person. It's all getting into the booth. All at once, and then this girl comes up to me in sandbags me. I asked you to buy the bottles. I asked you to pick the bottles. You both said no. You should have known. Routine you up. Hey, we're gonna pass the buck. It was a team. It was a team lost. There's something that's a big deal. And we can move on. The good news is, though, is already had a good time, but once again, he was a home. He was home by 12 last night. It doesn't stay up past midnight. Doing belly button shots with each other on the DJ booth to 4 a.m., but RA was somehow in bed right in the outline of 12 o'clock. DJ and for lab luxury too. Did you see that? You were on the stage? They pulled me off and put the fucking headphones on my head. I just started doing like 80s fucking dance like the cabbage patch and run it. I know what the fuck. So let me ask you, what do you think of that type music? Is it because I'm just like, oh man. I'm not a club guy. But last night, I'll definitely go to something like that where the setups all day, but even one of my 20s I was never really a club. I just not my scene. I'm an Irish guy. Irish bob type of guy. Terry Ryan senior, when he walked in and started picking up and the lights were going. He's like, I feel like I'm on Mars. He goes, I feel like I'm on Mars. Left my credit card, the answer. Oh, nice. Yeah, just so you could say, go back tonight to get in the bathroom, where he's chopping up as the Billy lenos. What do y'all see got for us, all right? Oh, snap. Let's see what else is moving right along. Your boy, Mark Madden, what's up with him? Fucking chirp and I tournament. What do you mean, what do you do? What a great face to check let's cup is putting on ball hockey. Thanks, guys. Hashtag clown show. Wow. Mad. Are you kidding me right now? How much love are we giving man? What a pigeon. Mad, are you serious? Hold on, wait. I sent him some waste stretchy waist jeans for fucking Christmas. And he's going to fucking send us a tweet. What the hell, Mark? Wait, so why is he mad? What does he say? Just what a great face the chicklets cup is put in on ball hugging. Thanks, guys. All right, so I'll say that. So Mark, which I know you're listening right now. And big fantastic. I love going on your show. We can chat about this. You're sitting at home while we have one day a thousand people came by including competitors, and every one of them are not everyone, but all the guys and girls I talked, you said they had a blast. Thank you for putting on. So everyone here who's having a really good time playing with their buddies being competitive, having some drinks, you say is a clown show. That's a solid argument right there, Mark. Stay hot. And we could chat about it whenever on your show. But for us to do something where I think everyone's really enjoying themselves and you dog it, you have no idea. Well, maybe we need more villains. Maybe we invite them to the next one. Okay. Well, so maybe that's what it is. So he's a big time ball hockey. I think they call it deck hockey. Maybe we should put them on that fuck. He's pissed he's not here. And he's like, you know what, sometimes not there. I'm gonna dog there. How about their show? Put them in that, we'll get them a pretty impact. We'll get them a marker at the next table, whatever casino we do it with. And we'll bring them Roethlisberger and he can interview Roethlisberger with us because that's probably and then we can announce Crosby to the apps together. Mark, what do you think about it, all right?.

"A lot of the time. And he said, because there's nobody telling me what to do. If I want to muck around on my backhand or try trick shots or do whatever I want to do, there's no structure that there is in a 90 minute practice. And that always stuck with me. And that's not a criticism of coaching. That's just his experience in it. But I have free time, Drake, sorry, free time, playtime is critical in anything. You want to my worst backyard ring story? Oh, you got it. It was a pond, yeah. So I was a little fella and I was going out to play with my, I got called up to the big leagues, my older brother, that this hockey game set up. And they needed reinforcements. So here I come. I'm like, probably 8, ten years old, maybe. And again, it was like a slew in Saskatchewan. It had been shoveled off. It's just perfect. I go running. I got my skates over my shoulder, tied up. I trip on like, I don't know, they got rock or something as I'm getting close to the pond. I fall and I land on the blade of my skate right across my wrist. And I look down and the blood is just bloop bloop. My brother comes Steve role is what did you do? No, it was just a neck. It was like a quarter of an inch, but I just cut a vein or something, not the major, but anyway, needless to say, I got rushed home and taking to the doctor and didn't get to play I was so sour. Anyway. And it turns out that was the memory that Nicholas was looking for. Did you get a little everything here on the Rand rags podcast, don't you? All right. "And pretty soon I wasn't in that realm anymore. You know, and I became a broadcaster management. I've always been interested in. I never been approached asked. I mean, I think my my opinions are probably or my views of the game are probably pretty well known. If somebody wanted to talk to me about it, I mean, it's my job to offer those. But I have never never even interviewed. So I mean, some guys think they're a candidate all the time for every job. Yeah. You wouldn't want that either. No, no, but no. I would like to know that, hey, you know, I think I could do it. I really do. But I love what I do, what I'm doing. And so I'm not, I'm not thinking that's in the cards. No, but and look, I don't think I'm telling tales at a school here. You've got so many relationships though, right? With coaches, general managers, all levels of organizations, not just the national. Literally. Yeah, but they trust your opinion, they value your opinion, and you take a pile of calls, right? Not just from buddies, but or, you know, when you can do it, face to face conversations where a coach or a mandrel say to you, hey, I know you did the game three nights ago. What do you think of this guy? I mean, those conversations for you would happen regularly. Correct. And they're fun to have. But you're not in the fire, right? It's just a conversation. It's your opinion. I do miss the wins and the losses. I think I'm really, I think I would really like to, well, everybody says I'd like to be part of a winner. Well, not everybody gets to. Lots of guys are in management. They're not part of a winner. And those guys look tortured. So I enjoy what I do. Nice. All right. Don ducharme of the Montreal Canadiens has established that carry price is not going to be playing before Christmas. And that's far from shocking, right? I mean, he needs to get his game back and all of that, the knee healthy, all of those things. Brooks Dickinson brook Dickinson my apologies Brooke on Instagram is asking, what do we think the odds are that carry prices starting from Montreal next season? Which would imply, what do we think the odds are that carry price is playing for the Montreal Canadiens next season? Well, I think good because his contract is $10 million a year. Yeah. And I believe after this year, Drake's, he's got three years left on it..

"How much does weather play into the line, but early in the week are people trying to jump the line before the before the weather becomes a factor? Well, there's two approaches, right? If you think getting Winnipeg, I think they open at about three and a half point favorite. The game isn't Hamilton Hamilton's playing at home, which is really cool. It's hard to say. You'll get some people that think all this is a great number. I should get it now. But yeah, if it's a terrible game and it's going to be a little scoring, then, you know, maybe you want to be on the side of the home underdog who's more than a field goal. So there's probably two schools of thoughts there array. And I would lean to think that the middle of December and Hamilton's probably not going to be all that hospitable. Now we'll have a whole list of prop bets that we can play around with, you know, like really kind of it's so fun. Passing yards, touchdown scores, all that good stuff. And then, yeah, maybe we'll get into the anthem over and unders or how many times maybe we should do like how many times rod Smith says a certain word or something like that. But those are real hard ones to do. If you guys got a crazy rod goes to a lot, let me know try and put it up. But I am we're also sending a couple of couple of cool beds to the game. So that was a little contest we ran the last month. Yeah, shaping up to be a large day. Yeah, I know, big week, obviously we're focused at TSN on the great cops are looking forward to that. And then right around the corner is the world junior hockey championship, right? So I'm assuming a cool bit dots here is starting to establish those odds at this point? Yeah, right now just some outright odds up. Canada is the favorite at plus one 90. This year, I'm interested in interested to see how the tournament plays out. We usually take a lot of interest from Canada, a lot of interest from Finland. This is the first year I haven't been working in junior hockey, so I'm a little bit blind coming in. So I'm going to lean on the experts of TSN to let me know what's going on there maybe before I place the bets. And then as you get closer to the tournament and the rosters are named, you'll be able to bet on, you know, most points, most goals, MVP, all that kind of stuff, goal total over under for Canadian players and all that. But it's really exciting time. I was a little bit surprised at how much betting interest the tournament took over the last couple of years. But it's like any sport now, if there's odds and people are watching, they're going to want to make it a little more interesting. I would think just my only comment on that is that the unpredictability of a junior tournament would create some wild swings for the matters. Because it's all over the map..

"Like a he's like a rumbling bull out there. He's so big and so fast and so physical and you know we talked about now the last three years he's got 1111 and already ten goals this year. I mean, like that's a whole new dimension to his game. But he's such a big personality and a locker room with energy is a good locker room. And I don't think in any small part that you can see his contributions to what's been an amazing start for the Minnesota wild. And look, I like the way you frame the question to Marcus about the departure of certain players, right? And in Paris and in Ryan suter, you know, quite view is a little bit different just based on his choice more than anything. But sometimes you need that. Don't you just breathe new life into an organization? Because if you don't have that ingredient that cohesiveness that want to play hard for each other on and off the ice, right? That's a big part of it. It's difficult to win. Of course, Bill garen, they had to make that choice, right? Because I mean, you're not making that and thinking it's a little decision. They're big, important personalities, suitors playing 26, 27 minutes a night still. And you want to move on from them. So they had to bite the bullet financially and then say, okay, if they go, do we have a leadership group? Yeah. And obviously they felt comfortable with spurgeon and dumba and foligno and, you know, he mentions matsuka rello and then they bring in goligoski as well. But it also changes the air in the room. The same dominant personalities aren't there. And that was their bet in Minnesota. And it's been a good one. Brain Drake season three episode 11. Presented by infinity continues. All right, there he is, Chris Albert, good friend from cool bet, dazio, joining us here on The Rain drags podcast. I'm not gonna lie. I'm looking at the two of you guys, and then I can see the image of myself coming back in the computer screen. We're looking a little sketchy. He actually, for the first time, perhaps at a long time, Chris, you look the best of the three of us. Have you been treating yourself? Well, you had a big weekend on all fronts. So I'm surprised that you look this surprise we record this early Monday afternoon. I think I've been home for 6 consecutive days now and I might have even gotten 8 hours of sleep one of those nights. So yeah, I'm starting to feel it starting to feel okay, not like I know the travel and ray's been doing it every time I turn around and you're doing a game to drag. So it's busy times, but busy is usually good, right? Yeah, I thought my evaluation is how soft you are that you weren't in Winnipeg, or at the football game on Sunday. Like what's wrong with you? What's happened to you? I don't know, man. I've been too much to too much traveling but I wish I had it been there instead I was at the Toronto rock season opener playing out in Hamilton now, which was unbelievable. So that was a whole lot of fun. It can't be everywhere. It can't be everywhere. No, but it was a cool day and win a pig right. I mean, literally, it was cold..

"You brought Johnny Merrill who just came off a Stanley Cup run and you know, not zuccarello, I look up to as a guy that's been in the grind and been the playoffs and has been to the standing of finals. There's so many guys in that room that are helping the transition right now and I think that's the biggest thing for our team this year. Quick question do you have a funny story you can share about Bruce boudreau who was just hired in Vancouver? I mean, we all love Gabby. I mean, there's lots of stories about him, but do you have one, maybe you could share? Yeah. There's quite a few. I mean, I don't know if you want to the ketchup stains on his dress shirt, maybe, but we've seen those. Sometimes there's a couple of cookies that extra cookies in his pockets as he's leaving the leave in the mill room. No, I think Bruce Bruce is a, I think, for him, oh, actually, now I've got a great one. Okay, everyone. Every time and actually, so we actually bring in, we actually bring in this sleep guide to talk about sleep. So Sean Stan are strength coach. Comes into this theater, the game theater room. And gives us like a ten, 15 minute speech about why sleep is important. You know, what we should do, things on routines, just to get better sleep and talk about sleep debt. And he had everyone in everyone on the chairs here every thanks for climbers. They're nice and cushy and Bruce comes in halfway through the meeting. And sits down at the far end over there and you know he's listening to the guy and it's kind of dimmed in the room and we see the guy look at Sean kind of seeing how much time he's got and it's Bruce has been in the room for about two minutes. And the guy's going on with sleep still. And he looks at Bruce. She looks at Sean and he's like, hey, we got enough time and Sean looks at Bruce. And he goes, Bruce we got enough time. And Bruce says in his La-Z-Boy recliner, and he has passed out. He's sleeping. During the sleep meeting. And we all looked at each other. And he's not waking up. And we're all dying laughing and someone I think bob Woods kind of hey, he's talking to you. And Bruce goes like, oh, yeah, you're good, 5 more minutes. And I think he almost went back to sleeping again. So good. Probably one of the funnier things I've never seen a guy. I'm like, we all said to the guy I'm like, you must be legit because you made me look so good. Marcus will let you go with this look man. Appreciate you taking the time. Your family does so many good things on the charity front, right? You lost your mom, Janice, to breast cancer. And now there's the jazz filino foundation. Do you have anything planned?.

"Because he can take two guys on the corner and still keep the pockets amazing his skill, I'll put control. So it's such a cool thing when he gets gone because you see other guys on our team get going. And I think that's one of the biggest comments as a player if you can raise your team by your play. That means your special player and he just has to understand that. And that's just to learning and his youth right now because he's been putting a string of games now together where he's been doing it. And we've been winning because of it. Now you're super competitive kid. You're older brothers is super competitive guy. You guys room together. You've lived together forever. They're like, at what age were you able to start taking him on? Because he's what? Four years older than three and a half years older? Yeah. Yeah, I think when I was getting like the 1312. I think you know just one of those things. He stopped growing and I was getting a little bit bigger, a little bit stronger. So I was catching up to him. You know, it's just one of those things with Nick, he is a huge competitor, still to this day. We do stuff in the off season and he hates what's an exam. Anything. Anything or everything. Yeah, like anything. We'll do we'll do sprints and hey, who's ever doing like a circuit and who's ever used in the heavier dumbbells, right? And but yet you're killing yourself because you've got to do it about ten more times. So it doesn't matter. He's got to have. If I grab 12 pounds for doing shoulder something, he's got to grab 15. That's the type of guy he is. So he's it's anything though. And I think that's what drives us and why we've been playing for a while now is just because we're lucky we have each other to push each other and seems like every summer we get better..

"And that's kind of something that I've learned along the way. And as a big, you know, bigger guy in this league, you want to keep that physicality up, but you also want to be relied upon that. You can make plays and be out there and increase your situation. So, you know, right now, the conference is there. And it's been a good balance. Matt dumbo was saying after you guys beat the leafs at, you know, it's pretty cool to, you know, you plan on Saturday night and people that don't normally get to see the Minnesota wild play, get a chance to see you play. And it was a wildly entertaining game. That kind of cool for you guys to get, you're getting a little league wide notoriety that maybe people didn't notice before. Yeah, it was an exciting leading up to the game. We had a lot of exciting jitters for that one. I mean, it was to make a statement for our team. Yeah, absolutely. I mean, I grew up in Canada and was able to play in Buffalo for so long. We played the leafs a lot that, you know, maybe I got a little numb to the hockey night in Canada thing. It was just something used to it, but there was just something for our team to showcase ourselves and then we took it upon us and it was a great game. Toronto is a heck of a team and obviously has great scores and we wanted to show that we're at the top of the division for a reason. And it ended up being a great game. So yeah, we were excited for that for that Saturday night puck drop and games like that bring out the best there and it's just nice to hear a whole team step up and then play that way. And obviously get that win against Ronald was big for our group, which is confidence. You know, Marcus, that one also added some feistiness to it as well. First period, you get into a dust up with Wayne Simmons and the media was quick to jump on social media anyways saying, oh, folio should get ten games for leaving the bench. I mean, that was the automatic response. Capri's off stays on the bench as you jump up, and then you come back and engage. Now, as we know, the National Hockey League didn't see it the way some media portrayed it. But as you're coming out of all of that, are you thinking oh jeez, did I just make a pretty significant error here? Well, I'll take it back. When I got on the, I got the puck on the wall and I made a flood past the.

"All right, we're now joined on The Rain Drake's hockey podcast by Marcus foligno of the Minnesota wild what a story the Minnesota wild are Marcus. Best start in franchise history, top squat in the central. Second behind the Florida Panthers in terms of goal scoring. How did the Minnesota wild get to this point? You know, it's a good question and you know it's obviously it's great to hear stats like that and honestly I think our 5 on 5 play has been something that's kind of lingered from last season. I thought we really established kind of lines from last year and obviously having the likes of Creole Capri starving and Jaguar guys like that that have got built some chemistry and our line with greenway and erics and neck. We've also getting contributions from our D and even though our Gritty lines, the fourth line, everyone's kind of chipping in this year. And it's been the whole team kind of stepping up and making plays and playing smart playing together and I just think that that's our makeup..

"Just before the game. It's the kind of disrespect from a coach that destroys these. So he makes the point of how his player has been unfairly treated here. Like just give him their heads up if he's not playing why, make it a teaching moment. And that he hammers them. It's the kind of disrespect from a coach that destroys teams. The sword in the back. Yeah, but yes, it is. Both of the sword in the back and destroying teams are probably a leap too far. It's not going to destroy the oilers. He should have been told in the morning that you're a game time decision. They've got another youngster meme a line in who's this big giant 6 foot 5 Finnish kid that's been running all over the place and very physical. So they chose to play him. When I was in Hartford, we had a coach that one of his jobs was to tell the guys who wasn't playing. Well, I'd go out for warm up. I went through this stretch there. It wasn't going so good. And before lines are doing line rushes, I'm the 13th forward in case somebody falls down. It gets hurt, that I would be in. And so I come in after warm up and the coach would go even tell me then you're out. It was like oh really? I didn't do it online rush out there. Yeah. But it was almost like he relished saying you're out there. And it was your response always the same. Like, all right. No, I said, oh, really? Oh, really? Like 16 in a row. Oh, really? I had a good one. That's terrific. Headlines.

"They just, they just ran right over top of them. They made a lot of changes on a team that was very poor defensively to get better. They paid a pretty hefty price for Rasmus risk the line and who was not been analytically a very popular defenseman over the last couple of years. Yes, you know what? They made a trade for Ryan Ellis. He's been hurt all year. It's a big hole in their lineup. Couturier doesn't look quite right. Clo drew has not been a threat. They traded Jake voracek cam Atkinson's just been okay. All that adds up to kind of like some bad soup there, right? Like it just, it just doesn't feel right. Now, the middle of the season around this 25 game mark or so 30 game mark Mike eel must get antsy because he's been hired, fired, rehired, fired in the middle of the year. St. Louis, Minnesota, now Philadelphia. And so he's had a history with excuse me with chuck Fletcher. So chuck would be comfortable with you going behind the bench and he's got an interim tag. So they can look as quickly as they would like for a new head coach. Yeah, and I mean automatically we all think a Rick talking or at least most of us I think did when we got the sense that Elaine vino was going to be on his way out. So there's a story that we're going to have to monitor, maybe John tortorella again. I mean, there's some old school guys still heavily involved in the decision making the flyers, right, right? You've got pole Homer and who's still mulling about. You've got dean Lombardi, who's hanging around. Bobby Clark says he's retired, but I think Clark is always sort of nibbling at the flyers are different too, right? The flyers are different breaks. You know, like, and that's why talk it makes so much sense. You know, so he's working working in TV and wants to coach and will coach. We'll see if this is the right spot. You know, we should lump this in earlier..

"So we've sorted through the mayhem of what went down and Winnipeg between the leafs and the Winnipeg jets and we invite you to stay tuned there. Now we get to the tough stuff. I mean, you never want to see a player to get hurt, obviously, so hopefully Rasmus sandin isn't as bad as what it looked like. But a lot going on. Let's start with Vancouver. More recent is the firing of the lane veno Michel Tyrion in Philadelphia. We'll talk about that. But the Vancouver Canucks and it's simply ownership decides that they're making changes this weekend. And all came to a head yesterday yesterday morning with the firing of Travis green as head coach. Nolan baumgartner also dismissed incomes Bruce boudreaux as head coach for this year and next year. So a term that mirrors what Travis had extended to in May. And Scott walker comes in as an assistant coach. Management goes out in Jim benning fire, John wise broad fired, Stan's meal is the interim general manager for the Vancouver Canucks around Johnson. We'll get an elevated title Chris will probably get more responsibility. Maybe Henrik and Daniel take on more inside hockey operations. So you want to break this apart piece by piece? Why don't we go that way? You want to start with management or coaching in terms of the shift? Why don't we start with coaching if you don't mind just because a veteran coach Bruce boudreau had been kind of twisting in the wind gets another opportunity here. I know you're not surprised that Travis was cut loose. But are you at all surprised that they go to Bruce boudreaux? No, I'll start really quickly with Travis who I've known a long time and you know I can feel quite badly that he's fired today and but there was a change that was inevitable there. I mean, like, it was like he was walking on the plank. He just hadn't gotten to the end of it yet. And so that loss Saturday to Pittsburgh was a bad one. The fans were disgruntled. There was, you know, change was coming..

"Football hit. In football, the linebacker leans forward to make the hit. And so his shoulders are the first thing that make contact. You can't do that when you're skating. Like physically you can't do that on a head to head hit. So if you miss the initial contact point, which is a pretty small point with your shoulder, the next thing that's going to hit is your knees. There's no way around it. So pion got caught out of position. He's nose to nose, the contacts made. He should be suspended. It should have been, it should have been a 5 minute penalty. And Toronto is going to lose Rasmus sandin. It looks like for, you know, I don't know for how long, but he said he was buying. He was in pain. And so that's my view on piano. It should have probably been a 5 minute major. I think he's going to get suspended. I think he should get suspended. And then Jason spets is now on in person hearing track for coming a good distance. And it's clear he's going right after P young. Like there's no question. There was no other vision in Jason's head. And when stumbles or falls or whatever, it's like a quarterback that's going to the turf. The linebacker can't follow through on them anymore. Now, ten years ago or 15 years ago, they drove them into the turf. And so what spats it did, in my mind is not 5 games. But it should be suspended. I was quite surprised it was an in person hearing, but if it were three, I wouldn't have been surprised, but if it's 5, which the in person hearing can be or more, that seems heavy for me. Well, the intent, not that he's necessarily trying to take Pyongyang's head off. I mean, obviously, but spezza was enraged, as you know, right on the bench, like when the hit happened on Rasmus sandin, I mean, the entire Toronto Maple Leafs bench was upset. Understandably so, but specifically, was are you between the benches and Winnipeg or is that? I was up top which actually, which actually afforded me a pretty clear view of what was going on. And we had we showed in the game, the leaf bench, but spezza in the middle just, you know, they were losing it on both the officials and then the Winnipeg bench and then Wayne simmonds who got fined..
