"Three and a half stars, these two guys just click, you know, I mean, I think we've all established that Ricky steamboat is one of the best in ring performers of all time. I think Rick rude was probably criminally underrated, maybe cast as more of a character, if you will, and the WWF, but the guy could wrestle and tell stories too, and he had been healed down paths. You have, I mean, I can't even imagine rickard as a baby face, but I can't imagine recruit as a heel. Or Ricky steamboat is a heel. So this really worked. The perfect baby face, the perfect heel. I enjoyed the match. I just maybe didn't love the concept. Yeah. Well, there you go. I get you. They had it. They for what the match was whether you liked it or you didn't like it. They worked hard. They told us, Bible story, and it's two great talents doing their thing. And I'm with you. I could watch those matches all day. I just, I thought they were those guys who delivered art on a unique canvas. Next up, Dustin Rhodes and Barry Windham and Nikita koloff, what a 6 man that is. Think about the talent there. Barry Windham, one of the best wrestlers in the world. I think a lot of people would argue in 85, 86, 87, he may be was, Dustin Rhodes, is the natural, still very young, still trying to find his voice. We know now he's an absolute legend. Nikita koloff, a throwback to JCP, just over like rover for a handful of years here, and they're going to be taking on Steve Austin, the biggest star in the history of the business, Bobby Eaton, and arn Anderson, and I think if you were to say, hey, who are two of the best that ever did it, most people would probably include on Bobby in an arn Anderson as being the most underrated in ring performers of all time, so what a crew in here and they get plenty of time. 15 and a half minutes, but orange gets himself disqualified by the special guest referee, Ole Anderson. And once he disqualified four, coming off the top rope. Meltzer would say basically the match was to get the top rope rule over once again, plus get Ole Anderson over as a babyface by disqualifying his supposed relative. Roads and Austin worked really well together and eaten works better with one arm than most wrestlers do was two. Solid all the way, but nothing spectacular or out of the ordinary two and three quarter stars. What a roster you guys have. I mean, I just want to run through what we've seen so far. The future Raven against Brian Pillman, that's the opener. The future world champion Ron Simmons against Terry Taylor, Greg Valentine, a Hall of Famer and Marcus Bagwell, staying in cactus Jack, stole the show, then steamboat and Rick rude, and now this 6 man, this is about as loaded of a roster as you could ask for. Yeah, it was. And it was and those guys all were put in a good position to succeed, you know, anytime you put iron and Bobby Eaton that stone cold in a match together. That's what we had, right? That was a 6 man team. Yeah. Shit, boy. You got gold. You got gold. And I'm with you. It's surprising that we didn't do better than we did, considering the liver talent that we had that was available. Still, you got to use the talent. You got to steal. You got to book them right. You got to get them going and build some momentum and so forth. But we had a very quietly gifted and talented roster. We all like to have a good time and go out and enjoy a few drinks. There's nothing wrong with that. Listen, I've got more than one wedding to go too soon, and despite all the champagne out and be drinking, I'm actually looking forward to brunch the next day because I've had my Z biotics with me. Z biotics pre alcohol probiotic is the world's first genetically engineered probiotic. It was invented by PhD scientist to tackle those rough mornings after drinking. And here's how it works. When you drink alcohol gets converted into a toxic byproduct in the gut, it's just what it does..

"We know eventually, not too long from now. Ron Simmons is going to become world champion. It feels like Terry Taylor is still trying to find his identity, this tailor made man persona felt like a dollar store $1 million man gimmick to me. He probably deserved better. He looked good. He had great matches, but he just never really got a big break with either company. Is that based on his real-life personality, some behind the scenes bias or what I believe is behind the scenes bias that largely Terry created. Okay. You know, he could be his own worst enemy. And he sometimes he didn't know what it was to be silent and went to talk. Got it. And so he alienated himself. Unfortunately, was it necessary? Was it fair? Probably not. But that's how it was. And it was that way for him for a long time. Next up, we've got Greg Valentine and Marcus Bagwell. I can't believe Greg Valentine's even on this car and I totally forgot he was even here in this era. I still associated him with being with the WWF here, but he's gonna make bag while tap out to the figure four leg lock and 7 minutes and 15 seconds. Meltzer would say a Bagwell is still tentative in the ring, but was trying hard. Valentine was slow, but his moves were solid, bag will miss the knee drop at three minutes and 40 seconds and Valentine worked the leg for a few minutes. Bagwell got a short comeback, but the knee went out while he was doing a leapfrog and Valentine put him away with the figure four. The match was fine, since everything made sense, and a baby face actually submitted since they obviously need to get submission holds over if they're going to change to a serious wrestling style. So a lot to unpack, this match was voted as the worst match on the show by the observer readers, but it's really not a bad match, which I guess shows that, you know, there's a hidden gem of professional wrestling here. Greg Valentine knows how to work. He's a little old school and that he's not going to be super fast paced. He's going to take his time and tell a story. This all is logical. I like the idea that we're saying we're going to make submission moves matter. In Bagwell, we know is going to be, you know, the white meat, babyface, whatever, that we've been looking to develop here in WCW. I think he wins rookie of the year more than once, which always made me laugh. But he's a guy who you could see. All right, he's got a future. He's going to be somebody, but not tonight, kid. We're going to get over Greg Valentine's finish. What did you think of this one? No problem. What do we need worse? Heels or baby faces. Getting out of time. I had a problem with it. I had no problem with it. You know, Bagwell was just getting started. That one are a loss in that match is not going to make or break what he's doing. Right. So I had no issue with. Before we get there, we're going to talk about staying in cactus check next. I want to remind everybody that I am feeling better than ever and I give 100% of that credit to Chile slave. Jim, I slept 8 and a half hours last night. How about that? 8 and a half hours. That's awesome. Good for you, man. You need that. We do need it. And I got to tell you, before I had chili sleep, I was sleeping like 5 or 6 hours a night, now I'm routinely sleeping 7, 8, 9, I even got ten hours once. And I can't tell you how awesome it is to wake up and not feel tired. I've lived in the south, my whole life, I've always had a ceiling fan, I've always cranked down the AC or what I realized is, I don't need my laundry room.

"Check it out. So Scotty flamingos out next, and he's going to pin Marcus Bagwell and 7 minutes and 8 seconds by reversing a rolling reverse cradle and holding the trunks. Meltzer would say they did a smart opening where they slapped each other and went back and forth like a street fight. Because of flamingos lack a size, he's going to need a lot of interview time and strong angles to get himself over because he can't make it on sheer physical presence alone. Fortunately, he's a good interview. He's also different from most younger wrestlers, and that he doesn't have the spectacular offensive moves, but does have good heel psychology. In most other newcomers, it's the other way around. Star and a half here, of course, we're talking about Scottie flamingo, that's the future Raven, did you think his size was holding him back here in WCW? Not really. I thought, you know, if you can, look, because I met dick the bruiser. And he wasn't a porn star. I met dick the bruiser and he's 5 8. You know, when I met Ric Flair for the first time, I thought he was probably 6 two or 6 three. He wasn't. He isn't. No. Never was. Never will be. So no, I didn't think so I didn't think to me that's an excuse. I understand days logic and I can't tell you that I disagree totally with it, but it's an excuse. If you're good enough at what you do, your skill set is where it should be, how tall you are. I mean, my God, I did an interview the other day for a and E on Rey Mysterio. He's 5 three, folks. He was 5 three yesterday. I was probably going to be 5, three tomorrow. So size can not, it could be used as an excuse, but it can never be the reason that somebody didn't get over. In my humble opinion. So Ron Simmons is going to pin mister Hughes here in 5 minutes and 26 seconds with a shoulder block. It was scheduled as a tag match with junkyard dog and cactus Jack as respective partners, but Jack leaves the ring early and goes to the back. So when dog and Simmons came out, Jack comes back and attacks dog and they're brawling on the floor. They climax with Jack dropping the elbow off the ramp on the dog who was on the floor. Dog is then helped out, and it turns into a singles match. The match was neither bad nor good with the only thing memorable being cactus Jack screeching outside of the ring, and Jesse Ventura's humor. Jackie interfered once or twice, and after the match, Simmons nailed him with the tackle as well, star in half. So a lot of moving parts here, I know we all think the world of cactus Jack and Ron Simmons and I know you saw a junkyard dog draw a ton of money for Bill watts and mister Hughes, in my opinion, has always been criminally underrated, but something about this, it's just not jailing all that awesome, but the guys are still working hard. Working hard again, but they come in cold. Right. Well, it came in hot. No, he didn't. They weren't ready. There was no build up, baby. And that's hard. But again, I tried to look at the silver lining and a lot of things in life in general. Especially after the last year or so, just to be blessed to be alive and cancer free, that's a big deal to me, but I don't mind sticking on it. But, you know, it's just, it was sad. They're all good talents. And you hear it around the head, all good guys. But it was just cold. And the fans had no anticipation for that match. They didn't care. And it's just hard to gather people in when there's no momentum. It's just a wrestling match. And that's not good enough, especially for pay per view. What's the hold up? Do you need me to spell it out for you? It's GEI CO dot com. That's where you save money. Geico dot com. Super invaders out next, he's going to pay a Todd champion in 5 minutes and 27 seconds. This was an unadvertised addition to the show. Meltzer would say, well, Ventura and Ross were good, but it would have been better if they were just doing banter over a screen with a test pattern. This is almost the ultimate dream match, the worst of the WWF against the worst of WCW, and it lived up to everything it promised. I could see the idea of wanting to put invader on a big show to get him a win, but they should have at least been more careful about who to pick as a jobber. Invader one with a messed up hot shot hardly the one messed up move of the match and a power bomb, the show up to this point was moving along at a lethargic pace, and this match was a nosedive, negative star and a half. Man, we love Hercules, gone too soon, Todd champion. Pretty polarizing guy as I understand it, but this match, man, this is as a friend of ours might say, bowling shoe ugly. Yeah, I've heard that term. Jim, it looks like Meltzer's just so down on this. Do you think Todd champion was the worst of the worst? I mean, that's pretty hard. I don't know if he's the worst of the worst, but he wasn't ready for pay per view. Right. He had a good look, you know, I don't remember enough about him to say I had a bad experience with.

"My first meeting dick the bruiser was in the New Orleans airport. I sent out there by the big cowboy to pick bruiser up. He was going to be the special referee that night and a big downtown municipal auditorium event in New Orleans. It did really well. And he got off his plane and even though I'd never met him. Which is also funny in a story. He's wearing a lime green double knit suit. No shirt, but a tank top. That was also lime green. He was illuminated. So I went up to him and introduced myself. just deductive reasoning. Mister Berger. What the fuck calling? Right. So anyway, it was fun. The ride from the airport back to the building was fun. Because he had story after story after story. You know, he's one of those guys that if you talk or talking baseball, and he's a Gehrig. Situation. Just any great, the great hitters in that air that older era, the 40s and the 50s and the 60s. Russo would fit right there. And he had his own little style. He didn't do anything exotic. He rarely left his feet. But he gave great promos and he had the look of a badass. If I football for Green Bay, you know, he had to give him some trouble with the NFL rules stuff. But I enjoyed being around him. So he was fun. And I enjoyed hearing him and watched still stories. It's like fishermen on red. When two O wrestlers get together. The first liar, he got a chance. Whoever goes first, he knows he's going to start top. So I love those times. That was a fun thing. And I'm honored, I got to make Nick the pressure. Sold out hanging from the raster, rafters every night, right? Well, sure. So let's talk about what's happening on the other channel. Of course, we're talking about WCW and 91 here, but what about the WWF? Well, they tried an interesting little experiment on Wednesday, November 27th, they held the Survivor Series, and then the following Tuesday December 3rd they hold Tuesday in Texas. What we're talking about are two fully prized pay per views inside of 6 days. When you see this happening on the other channel, Jim, do you think a? Could it work for us? B will it work or see what the hell are they doing? Well, all those things quite frankly, because all those thoughts come through your mind. And this is no exception. You know, obviously, if they did something new and innovative, if we felt like it would work for us, why wouldn't we try it? Secondly, we were certainly tuned in to see if they if it was going to work. And so, you know, yeah, we were very interested in how that was going to work. And they had a huge ass network, man. They could get the word out to their core audience, that we got, we got, we got an idea here. We want to do this or we can't do this or whatever. But nonetheless, it was an interesting venture for WCW. I took a lot of balls to do it. Let's also mention, you've got a set of TV tapings going into starrcade, that's going to have a lot of direction changes. And here's a few I want to talk about. Marcus Bagwell got a couple of tryouts and will eventually join the company. And of course we know he's even going to be a part of this arcade 91 event. This is years before we got buff, Marcus Alexander Bagwell, though, became The Rookie of the year and I mean, he looks like a can't miss prospect. And of course we know he had an incredible run as a heel there for WCW, but what did you think about the very young, early days of Marcus Alexander Bagwell? Well, you can see talent. You can see talent there. He Marcus had to athletic. You know, sometimes the sins of the road are hard to manage for some people than others. And he was very personable. Outgoing guy, but there's no doubt some day one. You could tell he had some abilities. And good abilities. There's a pretty convoluted storyline where Johnny B bad is gonna turn baby face. He's got a line himself with P and news and what if tag team mad is? And Meltzer had this to ask. How come one bad debuted? He had no clue as to what to do in the ring, and he was pushed like crazy and beat everyone. Then, when he improves a 1000% and gets over really strong and learns to play his game at second to 9, he gets buried while instead they push van hammer like he's the second coming, who was 5 times worse than every way, and not over one tenth as much. Do you think Tom just ran up maybe creative perhaps, dusty's confidence started to wane in Marc mero in real life? Thanks, gifts, walk on, red. What's going to stick? Yeah. What idea is going to stick? What can't they stick? It may never be our cup of tea. And likely won't. But we are just trying to guess a wall that maybe will.

"My question is back when you were in talent relations and the booking committee and for WCW in the NWA, was there anybody you had to let go, you know, coaches orders, you're just running the play that you let go that you kind of like, man, I wish I had didn't have to let this person go. It's the worst part of the job. So all those are lousy. You know, I don't know, I let Mark Marcus Bagwell go, and I wish I didn't have to. But that was the best call. Because I think there was something there with Marcus and we had just got everything on the same page. But I let him go, unfortunately, in Atlanta, I remember that. Was it bothered me? Marcus could have done more for himself but you know, sometimes we all shoot ourselves in a foot, but I felt like there was something there if we could just get there. So that would be one I could think of. I'm sure there's others, but that's just one part of my head. Yeah. That's really all I had. I do want to note that out of all the Hall of Famers I've met, you yourself sir, make I don't know if this is a bad sign or not, but you are number 13 of Hall of Famers that I've had the chance to speak to or meet. That's where I'm ranked. You're 13th most impressive. In order of time I've met them. Yeah. You are number 13. In order of importance, like last on the list, you were just doing a lock preserver. To maintain my dignity. It's nothing but respect. We just have fun here. Yes, sir. I appreciate the feedback. Thank you. Yes, sir. And you've been the voice of my career. I also noticed that top couple times in the WWE events had tried to turn you heal. Your time in 96 and your I was horrible. Yes, it was. What do you want? That's what the boss wanted. You know, I'm an old ball player. Coach calls a play going and running. You ran that play. You know, I did what I was destructive to do. That's how you recall, you know, I cashed those checks every week. They were very nice checks. I couldn't get into it and I had the feeling on my heart of hearts that you were just like, it sucks but I'll do it anyway. Yeah. Well, it's my job. I did my job. And I'm happy I got to do my job. What I have booked that? Probably not. But I did my job and said, that's simple. I also like your very blink and you missed it here run in 1999, shortly.

"That nobody would ever think about the patriot again when it came to that theme music. But yeah you know i always remember. The patriots of the patriot had a real interesting career. 'cause he's one of these guys that created this character before it got stolen from him. Apparently and tom brandy just put on a red white and blue mask salvatori. Sincere put on a red white and blue mask and toured the indies as the patriot. Speaking of solis. That's what he says happened. He says tom brandy just started telling promoters that he had bought the gimmick from del wilkes so the promoters could book him twice so that he would ask for a bigger fee. Not double so it would be cheaper than booking two wrestlers. But tom brady could work twice. He could work salvatore sincere or tom brandy and then he could work later in the night as the patriot cause he throw them ask on. People wouldn't know the difference so there's all these poor kids out there who went to these indie shows paid twenty bucks for polaroid with the patriot. Not realizing south sincere was under the mask. That's a bummer. That's like going to these indie shows and get an autograph from deutsche bank and matt born hasn't been in that town since nineteen ninety-two it's a. Bummer is no reason to meet a guy in clown makeup. I don't care if it's ray. Apollo if the marquee says first of all doing should not be doing anymore signings at all because matt borne is no longer with us but the idea that anyone ray. Apollo steve kern steve lombardi any of them. Unless it says here to do signings doi. Nk ninety four ninety five doing posts survivor series. Ninety four something like that okay but if it just says doing his here is a lie in my opinion and prior to the death of man bourne it should definitely have been born in that outfit. I met doing twice once as a young lad. Got picture with him. I thought it was over my wall somewhere. But maybe it's not and then once as an adult at a legend of the ring signing thank god and god bless you can look at that photo and you see number one. When i was a kid and i met doing that was born and i think he was just off getting released from wwe but he was still doing the gimmick but he wore look exactly like the face paint was perfect. The suit was still perfect. It looked like doing from tv. And you can look at the picture now. It's clearly map born and then later you know within the last ten years he was doing assigning it like ledges. The rings luckily for me. I got picture with him. Because he's the man so one of the grace characters ever certainly one of the most underrated character but again. We're not talking about doing. We're talking about del. Wilkes poor welk's family. I'm there sitting here going like oh good. They're giving the patriot has respect on is this guy just droning on about doing and how much he loves doing so much doing great however. I love the patriot because the patriot took that character One of the few guys the create a character himself was able to take it to multiple promotions. So those that don't remember the patriot. I most people remember the patriot for. Wwe nineteen ninety-seven but some will remember him from japan. I wasn't watching japanese wrestling at the time. So i i don't remember him from all japan or anything like that. I do remember when he showed up and wcw around ninety five before wwe wwe is the end of his wrestling career. But in ninety five. I remember them showing up in. Wcw is part of the tag team stars and stripes. It was the patriot and marcus bagwell and he ended up leaving. Wcw after hogan got there because he saw that the company was in a hogan direction. Very similar to steve austin story and he ended up going back to japan but where i remember the patriot from i was the global wrestling federation and because that was my first exposure to the patriot. That's always where i most closely associated with him. I remember when he got the wwe and ninety seven i remembered him from like ninety three in gw afc the global wrestling federation. That's where i saw the lightning kid for the first time. That's where it's up booker. T. for the first time they used to have a syndicated t. I don't know if it was syndicated. Actually it was on cable but they used to have a tv show. That would run every day on espn. So i think it was on. Espn so like every day during the week at like four o'clock in the afternoon at three o'clock in the afternoon gw f. would be on espn and it would just be like it wouldn't always even be an order. It would because it's not like they were filming a new tv show every day. So some of the stuff you were watching was not brand new. But i wouldn't watch it religiously. But anytime i was home from school and i was switching around and i could catch. Gw f- would always watch gw and also all the magazines like when i saw the patriot in one of the after magazines and immediately catches your eye. You like who is that. That's a cool mask you know and you start to you. Start to to get aware but like look to me the patriot and brad. Hart is the second rivalry i think of. What the patriot. The first rivalry. I always think of what the patriot is the patriot and the dark patriot. The dark patriot came in to gw. Have to feud with the real patriot. He was like the regular patriot except instead of red white and blue and the you are black gold and maybe read but he was black instead of blue and it was evil still american evil american. So that's what i was thinking. But he's fifty nine years old and a real bummer. A real bummer. I'm excited to watch the lugar lex. Luger icons documentary. The last three. Beth phoenix yoko. Yoko was amazing and robin. They were all amazing. Yoko beth phoenix and rob van dam. Were really good so expect. I have high expectations for lex luger sunday afternoon. I checked peacock and it wasn't up there used to be in the old. Wwe network they'd be like this premieres at know ten pm. Eleven pm on sunday night but it would be up all day on sunday so i didn't see it sunday afternoon unless i missed it. And then they also announced the kevin. Nash is going to be the next guest. I'm broken skull sessions. Which i'm looking forward to. That show gets better and better. I don't know if stone cold is just finding groove but the jericho one was amazing. The mick foley one might have been my favorite one yet and that's probably do if not primarily than in part in a big way to the friendship. That steve austin mick foley have But it was just really really great. I really really enjoyed it. And i would highly recommend now of course. I'm sure that a lot of you are wondering. I tweeted about it a little bit last week. The big internet controversy bubba. Ray dudley caught that sam roberts internet heat. That's what they should call it. I don't that's what bothers me. I get so much internet heat. And i never get credit for credited for any of it like they should call that the way x pac. He'd is a thing. Sam roberts heat should be thing when the entire internet turns on you and it's just vicious and venomous and and just wants to see you burned alive for simply giving a wrestling opinion. That should be called. Sam roberts heat. I don't get any credit for anything. It should be sam roberts heat when the internet wants to see you electrocuted to death for giving an opinion about wrestling. I should also get credit for feeding the attire. "I don't remember but great looking kid amazing physique and was able to really do a lot of tremendous things in the ring for nineteen or twenty year old kid so much potential. Now if you look at this again and and try to be objective and help him out while you're watching this by losing that silly s gimmick it just look at the the the performance in the ring I I think he did have a ton of potential to suggest that I would say he could be our next Hulk Hogan now was a me. I'm not going to assign it to. I think it probably was or could have been I. I guarantee frigging tea with me but that doesn't take away from the fact that the Alex did have a ton of potential again like Merrill Johnny be saddled with a horrible gimmick. That killed him coming out of the chute that you probably couldn't recover from unless you made a concerted effort to do so and there was no effort to do so. Let's keep it moving here and let's talk about Gino Caroline he's GonNa recap the issues surrounding the Hogan Vader mask for Super Brawl. Paul before it welcomes out vader for an interview later here is going to accuse Hogan Dodge again saying it's time's running out. Race was not here with fater because he he was in an automobile accident that Herman Li ended his career as a manager. We haven't talked about that much here on the show but is a a relatively tiddly famous story In wrestling circles. What do you remember about Harley race and and him no longer being answering character for you guys I? I don't remember the details. I'm not sure that I really knew details at the time. Other than the fact that he wasn't in a serious accidents and that he you know physically he would no longer be able to to participate. I I remember that but the details of the actual accidents and how it happened where it happened and all that I am not sure ever knew certainly if I did I don't remember now It it you know look Harley was valuable for a lot of reasons and I think of all the managers that I've ever worked with you know whether it was in the AWA or WCW I think Harley race was probably the only one that was what I would consider to be a legitimate manager because Harley really was instrumental in so many occasions in helping manage combustible vader vader was A. He was sometimes very difficult to do as a lot of top talent word by the way. Not just tater but oftentimes when you guys would get to a certain level Their competitiveness invader very competitively and white. You Know College standout. Football player played for the Denver Broncos. I believe he was a competitor. He was probably a better from the time he was six years old. And oftentimes when you get people that are highly competitive and you put them. In high profile situations they can be a little bit tough to deal with and that's not only true professional wrestles with musicians true with actors. It's probably a lot of locations but Harley race was one of the few people that Leon White Decay evader was afraid of and trusted and would listen to so wouldn't ever. There was an issue with whether it be finishes or anything. That would come up. We would go to Harley to help fix whereas other managers guys Jimmy Hart in Sherry since Sherry Sherry and Robert Parker all the other you know the characters that we identify as managers were props. They were there is there to help at the they were. They were the greed shit that they the salary or whatever. It is Parsley. They put on your plate when you order a steak to make it look a little prettier. garnish. But but that was not the case with Harley Race Harley was a legitimate manager and he was oftentimes instrumental in the rank Harley could do towards the end of his career before the accident are early still whatever. He was fifty four fifty five years old at that time. Still doing some amazing taking some amazing bumps in the ring. Let's keep moving here. And let's talk a little bit about Ric flair because he's GonNa come ringside here with two women it's GonNa make peace with vader takes a seat in the crowd and Heenan welcomes flair back the WCW. You may remember He lost a retirement retirement match to Hogan back in October Halloween Havoc we see Harlem heat retain the WB tag titles beating. Marcus Alexander Zander Bagwell and the Patriot. Nine minutes and forty five seconds meltzer would say all four worked hard and he says Bhagwat was worked over most of the way a mass was better than average. But the finish was really messed up with Sherry on the Apron Holding your shoe waiting for a spot. Booker T.. Called for fifteen seconds which just is made everyone look stupid Sherry took an outrageous bump on they finally got to it as Bagwell reverse tease whip Antigua hit with high heel shoe. Bagwell Ahead T. pen but stevie ray kicked back in the face. He went over backwards. T pinned him two and a quarter stars definitely miscue here But AH otherwise decent action. I don't know why but Bagwell and the Patriot just didn't work for me as a team here. No you know del. L. Wilkes Aka the Patriot great performance. We've talked about him. You know before. The show had a lot of the ingredients. If not almost all of the ingredients to become a big star with the exception of his mic work was just never really up to up to par but again you know watching this early this morning. It was a little bit of a again. It was a throwback character. You'll throw back to the eighties type of thing. You know. Marcus Bagwell You know he's he was is always like right on the cusp. You know a little bit like Alex right good looking guy. Great Body Great Physique but was just never able to really breakthrough to that next level In terms of connection with the audience but the match was again. You know watching this. It reminded me why you know Harlem. He so deserves to be in the hall of fame because they've done so much in their careers In in again I was reflecting seeing booker on the on the on the ship almost called it a boat again talking about what he's doing he's you know he's very active given WWe Very successful as a broadcast which I'm so proud of because he's so great at it but he's also calling boxing. He's got his own radio show. He's got his own wrestling programmer school and in going on down in Houston. There's so many good things Booker T. is doing and I'm just grateful to have had the opportunity to work with him and Stevie really really Remarkable tag team one of the all time greats. Glad that in more recent years ears. They're starting to finally just to join the hall of fame. Let's talk about Gene Hoaglund on his back on the show. He's all over this one interview Hogan Randy savage. Jimmy Hart Hogan's GonNa Task Jimmy with being lookout with vader and flair earring todd And then Gene Hive Super Bowl. Five pushing it's going to happen in Baltimore and at the only match signed so far is for the world title with Hogan Invader for the WB Championship. But if you want to hear what's happening behind the scenes right now call hotline costing an avalanche. This is going to be a referee stoppage. And what mess. Recall a weird finish in five minutes and twenty seconds It is a little little interesting meltzer would write avalanche control. Early with power moves. After a collision avalanche went down stink fell against the ropes and went down accidentally accidents. headbutting avalanche in the Groin sting than us four Stinger splashes before putting on the Scorpion. Avalanche was shaking his head and tapping out concession but the special referee Guardian Angel didn't call it so nick Patrick came out and stop the match. Ruling Avalanche had submitted angel in Patrick Start arguing with angel saying hey. I'm the REF in charge. And then Angel Tax Patrick and staying starts punching angel and then avalanche and and angels Sorta Work on sting angel pulls his belt out and then of course Bagwell and patriot. Make the save sort of a weird deal here after the match two gene is interviewing angel and says something like you're not going back to big BUBBA Rogers and then of course at the end of the interview. He says he is now big bubba rogers sort of a weird way to make like a change like this. That are Guardian Angel Characters being abandoned. And now we're going back to our first gimmick that we may remember Meltzer says talk about life going full circle mass watchable but easily the worst thing on the show starring a quarter while was the Guardian crapping out here the combination of a couple of things it just it really wasn't resonating The idea of creating again people may have heard this before in the show but guardian angels still are. By the way it's an organization still exists in New York City to this day. Last time I was in New York City a couple months ago for our meeting I was walking around later in the evening looking for a Sushi bar and I saw a couple of the Guardian Angels So wore the red berets and the t shirts that identify them or jackets that identified them as Guardian Angels for people. That don't know the the Guardian Angels are It's an organization of volunteers who really patrol the streets. They're not armed. They're not law enforcement But they patrol the streets who to keep an eye out for Crimes and and and reported reported as such the police or take physical action if necessary in the heat of the moment until to law enforcement arrives. So it's a legitimate organization. It was founded by a gentleman by the name of Curtis Sliwa who back in the ninety s was getting a tremendous amount of national publicity because of his work the Guardian Angel so there was a lot of media media around the Guardian Angels. Curtis was really excited. You know to get some exposure for the Guardian Angels On. WCBS was excited about working with Ray traylor car but it. It just didn't connect and we needed We need to go a different direction with very creatively because we needed heels so it was just a it. It was an evolution. It was timing. It was the right thing to do at the right time. I agree The finish like so many finishes and WCW at the time. They almost seem like after thoughts. There's just been so many times that you and I have talked about these shows. I've gone back to watch a show and you know if it's a fifteen minutes fifteen minute match you know. Fourteen minutes of it is really pretty damn good good but the last sixty seconds kill it because the finishes are usually botched or overly complicated or almost always involve outside interference There's probably probably a race To the to the bottom to determine whether it's outside interference in general or ref bump is it was historic a WCW booking And lack of creative when it came to finishes and that was true across the boards including yours truly so Was One of the big. This is you know the WCW always had was finishes and this is not only was his match pretty bad and let's face it with a guy. I like Avalanche it's going to be hard to have you know any kind of a match that people think was a decent match or a good match great match would be probably impossible to reach reach but this one was particularly bad made only worse by a fucked up finish. Let's keep moving here and let's talk about Our main event or finally here Hogan Randy savage on one side Kevin Sullivan and the butcher on the other Absurd you to hear that. Yeah bad man. Eleven minutes for seconds As you might imagine. Here's a surprise us. It's the hot tag. It's the old boot to the face. On Butcher savage drops the elbow does the leg drop. Nobody's getting up after that one two three and after the match vader jumps in knock savage out of the Ring Hogan Punches in three times..

"Yeah and he was a great looking young kid I mean he whatever was eight thousand nine hundred twenty whatever he was. I don't remember but great looking kid amazing physique and was able to really do a lot of tremendous things in the ring for nineteen or twenty year old kid so much potential. It is Parsley. also on this date Willie McCarthy was born in nineteen thirty eight the great San Francisco Giants he he passed away just last year in mobile he lived to be eighty years old but with him and Willie Mays you talk about having the out a teacher but have the out feel covered they got your back right there I also on this date Jim crow T. termin Bantul some like that anyway he only lived to be thirty one he was born on this day in nineteen forty two is born in Philly Frank Sinatra junior born in nineteen forty four Rod Stewart turns seventy five today of course he was born in London and Donald Fagen from Steely Dan was born on this day he turned seventy two a couple of others of note George foreman turns seventy one today he was born in Marshall Texas maybe I'll grill a burger on the old George foreman grill the day in his honor I also Bobby ray hall the American race car driver in team owner turned sixty seven today and maybe one or two more birthdays here or maybe were maybe we'll maybe we run our lock out now Marcus Bagwell the pro wrestler turns fifty today buff Bagwell and Jared Kushner god the son in law of Donald Trump turns a ripe old thirty nine today there you have it birthdays for today January the tenth and joining us on the program now we say good morning once again in when we always enjoy having bread Blake meant on Brad thanks so much for joining us here on Memphis morning news how are you good morning thank you feel great and for those that haven't caught our conversations brats former Deputy Assistant president George W. bush and had many tasks with the bush family and I always appreciate his inside the president trump's gone all Republicans to oppose their fingers quote crazy Nancy's war powers resolution is she ever going to bring this to it to the Senate you think well if you make it up to the Senate but it's not worth the paper it's written on because the Senate is not going to pass it and assuming the Senate were to pass it the present you think he's going to sign a bill that limits its constitutional authority this isn't happening so you know we can't see hello she should probably get a map of the capitol finder waited Mitch McConnell's office crop what the articles of impeachment let's get through this nonsense I mean it's got to be a good what men and a half inch or two minute walk over to the Senate I mean yeah I've done it many times I mean it's you know you don't eat bread crumbs for Google maps probably either so I I apparently everybody got in a tizzy over on the Democrat side when selling money gotta got wiped out and and pelo C. called it provocative and disproportion I guess one death in exchange for the thousands that had been killed of the allies against the is that disproportionate should have killed maybe several thousand more in her eyes what I don't get that well I think Democrats are disappointed that there will work for you cancel the fact is the president acted out against the enemy combatant who's done some work on the damage name tortured killed Americans and and and and other innocents including Google people fifteen hundred protesters killed within the last month in a row and rose up against their own regime always killing in in proxy never in their own name finding others to do their dirty work this guy was probably the number one terrorist in the world today the present was given an opportunity we found at the scene of the crime he was behind the preaching of our embassy a couple weeks ago in addition to a contract to being killed in a in a Iraqi military qualify military assault sponsored by Iran so he was he was caught red handed in the president we calmly and deliberately took him out you the we were you know we were faded into this buyer Ron who wanted us to enter into a aggression with a downed are drones when the bomb the Saudis and Donald Trump would be faded but he took an opportunity in the opportunity was well taken and instead of hello see commending the president like we all did when Obama took out of some of the lot they act out against the president give aid and comfort to the enemy it's it's really saying red black men joining us on Memphis morning news it would have been interesting to see if during that strike if any buildings had been hit when not present when president trump made the call to take out Solomon because so the money excuse me because usually we get the same old song that every time anytime anytime that a coalition or US forces hit a building it is always a school or hospital which children in it that's what they always come out and say well and and look the fact is we he was taken out of the porn back no collateral damage at all but look what the Iranians did they were so trigger happy and scared to death they took out a civilian airliner yeah that's a fact it was it was it was a it was a a missile the took out of Ukrainian airliner we are running as a board and and other innocents where is the outrage at that act and now they're trying to they're trying to give them aid and comfort as well by saying was just an accident please it was it was it was an accident that I should have never happened but for the fact that they acted out against America were you surprised or not when president trump showed great restraint in his response to the American people and essentially I guess said listen these guys attack this back on the bases we have no casualties I believe this is kind of to appease certain factions we're gonna let this slide for now absolutely the right thing to do again the measured and deliberate response the calculation of one was racked back on their heels when we killed there number two and the only one above she was one so I I have to believe that they were absolutely shocked that president trump took this action and look how brazen soul money was to parade around he was prevented by international law from entering other countries because he was labeled a terrorist not just by the United States by the world community so Donald Trump did exactly what he was supposed to do which charged he was president America is a lot safer the world is a lot safer absolutely Brad like been thank you so much for joining me here in Memphis have a great rest your week always appreciate your insight and there's always something crazy going on but you help us make sense of it all thank you so much thanks a lot bye bye Memphis morning news it's sixty two degrees they're storms Obrero en storms umbrella get reading we are forecasts on that coming up six forty two take a look at the roads first with heather your the morning right now it is very quiet out there we are rex free but we do have a stolen vehicle.

"Name kind of. Well, I mean we're band. So we can say this was kind of a lame name, and quite frankly, the pay per view lineup not very exciting from what I've read online. Yeah. It doesn't seem that exciting. Seems just seems I don't know if those kinda throwing to get it to be on us about. I seems like a lot of rematches from the. What's it called super sewed on stopping the super stopping grounds that they had a just a couple of go in the unnamed eastern kingdom, which you can't say where it's actually from? Yes. But there's a lot of rematch is from that. Yes. Yes. Not to be mistaken for the super smash buttons getting students dumping ground. It's right or the or the super smash brothers that are in a w but they can't be called because of the game. That's right. Yeah, yeah. That's a good point. Yeah. Can't remember they have a new name now dark, dark journey or something like that. Maybe the dark dark, dark journey, they're called dark Jedi. I'm actually gonna do joining up with it is lender. Knutson is an American nature of natural and retired professional wrestling valet. Oh Linda Newton. What is she? What did you say? She was, she's cooled dont journey which retired like anthem. What is she? Aware wolf natural, natural advertise. Professional wrestling ballet known by her. Ring name dodger. What's. What's the what's a natural path? Alexa was a natural hall. The mattress is now thinks someone else from Kuna natural power. Listen to Alexis or English English accent in England. Yeah. Ask your who dark journey is an exit who has ducked journey into isn't American natural path in retirement professional wrestling. By ring name, Jenny. I actually think that she would get that, but that's good. She's awesome, alcohol pickup naturopathy or natural Pathak medicine is a form of alternative medicine that employs array of pseudoscientific practices, Brandon's natural noninvasive and is promoting self healing, so she heals herself. So she's basically a X men styled mutant. That's a great gimmick. I it is or spouses, Brent. So shout to Brent Brent Newton. I would assume Brenton Newton journey. Good point bridge, a- and a nameless child is they have one child with no name. Oh he doesn't sane. Zane. Newton, so's arranger Zanger is doc journeys, son. Zanger Ernie as we just said. Oh, Zane, others, Sammy's ain't oh Sammy's journey. Wow. Maybe that's maybe we'll get to this. Maybe she is going to be the, the unnamed referee for the baron Corbin. Seth Rollins match because Sammy's aim has been rumored. Maybe it's going to be Sammy's. Zan's. Mom, Kosice, Sammy's, AIn, noon slash Sammy's journey. We are coming up with bettas stuff. Then w rights. We kind of already we've already discovered that took them three hours last night to not name the guest referee we just figured it out in about fifteen minutes. And that includes a lot of music and stuff going on at the same time. That's right. So now and it's funny my, my computer's decided to shut down there, but once again, it's the, the dark, the what's it called the men, the men in black? The dark men in black from the WB that refused. I don't know that sounds a bit. Is that correct is a politically incorrect? I don't know. The doc men. I mean, what's kind of an oxymoron, you kind of? It's kind of being redundant, isn't it? The dark regaining black. Is that even? So there's a new men in black movie coming out. Is that politically correct? Then I, I haven't seen it. But apparently is very good. Okay. Well, then we're not gonna bother wasting your time with that piece of shit. We'll just move on. The next thing, what I was going to tell you is Tacoma, not doing very well and ticket sales. Apparently the apparently you can go online and find the ticket Chartres and get really good tickets for a deputy stomping grounds even at this late late point in time, right before the paper, you, Jack. That is not a good sign. Really? Are you looking at the tickets tickets chart? Yeah. Well, I was yeah, I was wondering is okay. So let's say. Cody is ago. I actually what you know, if the tickets already sending very well. You know who sold more tickets? What understand what you mean? Well, me, I so. I played the same venue that they are holding end and we plates, a people while this is when you were in iron maiden or which one is this, I was, yes. I was in nine we did. We did a show at the Tacoma dome in Washington. Wow. And, you know, you couldn't find let, let me, let me be honest with you right now, Jack I'm looking right here. Yeah. Zooming in right? I can get a seats, await the of the blue ones open seats or sold seats. I wonder open is too bad. Then looks like it's pretty much. I thought I thought the blue tickets were the ones that were available, you would think so there, right? Oh, I don't know what they're making much ado about nothing. It looks like most of these tickets are sold in this place. I mean there's, there's a bunch of blues available on the floor, but I mean it doesn't look that bad. I thought when you're looking all the blue ones are the open seats. I thought they are the sole season was his two thousand souls seats. But listen, I can get us to seats six hundred and fifty bucks a peach, a piece in row, a seats. Nine ten forget it for six hundred fifty peaches is where I can buy them for. I can get us. Second rose. Well, those five hundred bucks be one and two so we can still get good seats. But it looks like most of the far away seats are sold unless they've just block them all off. Could we actually get the seats because I mean I thought we would need to wear a disguise shouli, we well, we could, you know, we need to ask to help us out to do it. Ends o o course. Remember ends put on a disguise for summer slam. That's right. And went so well, and it was like the worst disguise, it was literally like a like a grow glasses and knows. We all we would have to do is just coach Marx glasses and nose. And we'd be as good of a disguise, as Enzo would be what an idiot. Wow. There's click bait. Jack Slade Kohl's. Enzo Amaury idiot. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. He'll write some sort of graph of I was just going to pull up something, there's a lot of ads on this YouTube thing. Time I try and get the quick quick edit I get stuck by some was a call Atlantis couches or we get busted by last time advanced couches, whatever the hell it was the era. Youtube is like this YouTube thing like the kids are listening. This listen this MD and watching this YouTube thing. I don't know what it is going back to you. It's dumping. Grimm's. Exactly. Move to control. My own was. Bitching? Detective work yawn ends. Those wrap by the way. Wow. Pretty bad. That was that was lit fan. That was not let let me fast forward it to another example. Go. L mind. What we're gonna move on from that one. Glad to hear let's we should probably start talking about the actual show and see what we can find out about the actual show because they said we were finding that tickets weren't great. But we think the tickets are better than we expected. So I think that I think the show is going to be a positive guy. I think it shows going to be is lit, as screw lax. You agree with that. I think I do agree with that, that's one of the best leagues of do you think of getting too carried away with trying to put on the sound effects in here? So I just relaxed onto the bit Neta. Okay, more sound effects. Okay. So we were going to the show at the Tacoma dome, which may or may not have love tickets sold with our research. You can still get good tickets. But it looks like the majority of them are sold depending on how many tickets they've blocked off, shall we say. Yeah, yeah. It could be a few. Big place. It's a huge place the most to memories. I have of the Tacoma dome. Number one. What is that you played there with iron maiden? I did number two that's the famous place where they had the match. Where was WCW taking over Monday night raw and the, the final match was Booker T versus Marcus. Bagwell with aren't Anderson and Scott stapp commentating, and it was a great team. It was the night that Vince aside, he didn't want to do a WW show after planning for it for months. Oh, yes. Into coma dome. Yeah. Which is funny, because, you know, you think it's like the, the famous WW hotbeds Charlotte, Atlanta, Dallas, Chicago Tacoma. Not one of them. No, no. It's no. Something which I've really mentioned very many times on the ball from the United times. Did. I say I played that right. Exactly. Kind of bragging about at this point in time, this, right? Was it was the name of the band that you played? Yes. Tommy. What's the name of your band? Hard to put that on a t shirt, but it's the regional, at least I wanna put it on a t shirt. I want to do that on a patented and go with it as we're going to go with this lineup here. Great segue for stopping grounds, which has more tickets sold than what the pundits are saying. I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm going to predict they have seven thousand people there, seven thousand. Yeah. What do you think? I mean that might be at might be mobile. I'm gonna go I'm gonna go seventeen thousand you. You think they're going to seventeen thousand or talking people are sent. They're having problems selling tickets. Yeah. Our God at this seven thousand people that's going to be no use seventeen thousand seventeen thousand English numbers. Yes. It's like a baker's dozen right? So it's about three thousand in England. That's right. We're we got a baker's thousand given. It's like when we play that Nottingham rock city. And I asked Luke bell, the tour manager how many people does this hold. And he said, six hundred Xs fans and twelve hundred block Ville brides fans. Xs fillings beefier if you get him say that's good. That's good. I like that. All right. Jack, we gotta take care of another amazing talk Jericho sponsor. And that's Armand hammer's new cloud control litter popular product at my house. I know you've got dogs, Jack, right? Moscow, botchy close quasi, and basil as we spoke about, but we have three cats, Mr. mittens Snickers and Indy. And I think they love Armand. Hammer's new cloud control it as much as we do because everyone of my family has to clean litter boxes.
