"AP's sports and Mike Reeves, it was a frantic finish at the Indianapolis 500, our Tom McKay reports. Josef Newgarden used a one lap shootout to grab the lead from 2022 champ Marcus Ericsson to win the Indy 500. You know, I wasn't looking to take anyone else out of the race, but I was going to put my car on the line to win. And I was either going to win the race or I was going to end up in the wall. Newgarden driving for team owner Roger Penske survived a chaotic final 40 miles, which saw the race stop three times for Rex. Major League Baseball the rays win a wild one over the Dodgers in Tampa Bay, correspondent Steve Carney provides the details. The Tampa Bay Rays used a 7th inning RBI ground out by wander Franco to break a ten ten tie and defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers 11 to ten. Both starters got hit around as Gavin stone allowed 7 runs in two innings of work, while Josh Fleming allowed ten runs in 6 innings, including 5 home runs, Tampa Bay finishes at ten game home stands 7 and three, while the Dodgers complete their longest road trip of 2023 with a four and 6 Mark. The Yankees used a 7 run third inning to defeat the Padres ten to 7, Aaron judge and Harrison Bader hit home runs to support winning pitcher Garrett Cole, who is now 6 and zero. This was a good team win today for sure. I mean, being able to kind of subdue them through the middle innings and keep the momentum. I thought played in our favor, but it's just such a luxury to have the offense. Other winners on the diamond were the guardians Orioles tigers royals, Blue Jays, brewers, reds, rockies, Astros, Marlins, Diamondbacks, Mariners, and braves on the PGA Tour emiliano grillo wins the Charles Schwab challenge in a playoff against Adam chic. It was his first PGA Tour victory. It over 7 and a half years. So it was great. The way it was definitely worth it, it was long, but it was worth it. White's putback as time expires lifts Celtics past Heat, forces Game 7 in East finals

"The Celtics had become just a 14 team in NBA history to force a game 7 after being down three games to none. Derrick white scored on a putback with one tenth of a second left to give Boston a one O four one O three went over the heat in game 6, tying the series at three games each. White says after he inbounded the ball to Marcus smart on the Celtics final possession, he was left unguarded. Smart flash hit him and there really was nobody on me. So I just faced to the corner and then when he shot it, just try to crash, ball came to me. I made a shot. "White House apparently seeming to get a question in advance It had the name on this card Biden hat of the reporter a photo of the reporter and an iteration of the question that resembled what the reporter from the LA times asked Now The White House and the LA times would be fair or denying the story however Kayleigh I find that unlikely the denial I find it improbable and as David Marcus pointed out on Twitter Kayleigh I'm not sure what's worse They got the question in advance or they didn't and they can predict the idiotic press So well that they wrote the question before she even thought of it Your thoughts on that as a former press secretary Well I can tell you you can't predict the press For sure because my team did it they would sit in this area called lower press And while we would never receive the questions I could count on one hand maybe when a foreign reporter would give a question to try to get a leg up you know here's my question can I ask this But aside from those rare incidences you know my team I was talking to them today My former team I was like you know what do you think of this And they said we could predict the questions through hard work Like we would go read the Twitter feeds of the reporters read their stories and they're that predictable so we could predict it But for me as a press secretary I never had that level of detail I can't remember a time when I could have gone to Trump and said you're going to get a question on semiconductors as it relates to alliances You know they didn't bring me their questions because their questions tended to be why is your boss so evil or directly to president Trump you know why did you do X Y or Z terrible defamatory thing they would accuse him of But what I think happened here Dan if this reporter denies it will probably happen She probably walked into the press secretary's office said I want to ask about semiconductors I want to ask about alliances And KJ probably came up with a sample question put it on the card But what a blunder for The White House to show that he needs that level of detail to take two questions Dan It was only two two questions

"I don't know about you, Victor, but all I'm hearing is from people saying no, no, no, no. If you want to play ball this way, we got to roll up our sleeves and Republicans need to be every bit as fierce as the Democrats are. What side of that do you fall fall on? Yeah, I think I'm not on the McCain Romney, Mitch McConnell, Marcus of queensberry rules. I mean, we've already seen what happened when Kevin McCarthy did tit for tat and he removed Adam Schiff from a committee. And that sound was pretty strong message that Moore was coming. And I think the Democrats were kind of shocked. And I saw that the Tennessee legislature was considering either finding or expelling those who took over in a violent act of members of their own legislature on the democratic side. I'm not calling for Kevin McCarthy to tear up the State of the Union the way Nancy police will also did, but I do think that they're going to have to look the Biden family, I think, will be a target now with a lot of prosecutors, the nation all over the nation. I don't know if that's good or bad, but that's what they earned, and that's what I think they're going to get. And as far as the other things, we've just sat and taken it, they've talked about packing the court, getting rid of the Electoral College. Having a national voter ID, bringing in two more states. And I think a lot of people are saying to themselves and getting rid of the filibuster when it was when they thought it would be convenient. They're trying to change the process, not just the results, but the process. And in this case, I think there are agenda is to earn Donald Trump a lot of sympathy which he deserves, but to do so under the Aegis that they're going to tie them up for the next year and a half in court with a different prosecutor every 6 months and hemorrhage him so that a, he'll be the nominee, but he will be damaged in the general election. "One of my favorite thinkers is Marcus Aurelius, one of the great men ever to live. He was the most powerful man on the planet when he was probably the last of the great Roman emperors. He had a pretty awful son, Commodus, which is portrayed rather dramatically and somewhat accurately in the movie Gladiator. Anyway, Marcus Aurelius wrote a series of private journals that he never anticipated would be published or publicized. In fact, he would probably be shocked to hear that and probably a little bit humiliated that these are now it's one of the most powerful books ever written called meditations. Anyway, Marcus Aurelius being the most powerful man in the world could invade a country at a whim, actually had to deal with a big plague, he was a he was one of the most articulate and powerful stoics Seneca being another and many others, but Aurelius had a belief that you must choose. Not to be harmed. He even said that the obstacle is the way that what might be preventing you from getting what you want actually might end up being the most helpful beneficial and the blessing that you've been looking for. I understand the sentiment, in fact, I have one right here, Charlie, I'm not voting anymore. I'm finished voting, let the Democrats have the country. Okay. And by the way, some of you say, well, Charlie, these are trolls. Now, some of these people are actually people that financially support turning point USA that are supporters of the Charlie Kirk show. Some of these people actually know. "It ain't gonna happen in my opinion. But this will be a great situation. But Aaron Rodgers controls that. And they told us that two years ago. Talking to Marcus spears ESPN NFL analyst former NFL player, the quarterback most likely to be with his current team next year, Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers. Hey Rogers, because of the 50 million. I think Tom is going to call it quits, bro DP, so we remind everybody that Tom Brady got $375 million waiting on him at Fox. Or we all forgot about that. So yeah, but he had that and he decided, I mean, he decided that he was going to choose football. And he is learning that his damn ego got in the way. That's what he learned. Because what happened in Tampa based on what he needs can happen next year. They can suffer injuries next year. New contracts. The guy has moving places, can happen next year. Tom Brady, who we considered the greatest of all time. And I think that's fair because of what he's accomplished or what he's been able to do. But right now at 45 BP, as much as we talk about his greatness through for 5000 yards last year, he still got some gas left in the tank. His success is predicated on what's around him. Let's not get it twisted, okay? There's no coincidence that a couple of years ago, LeBron James won a championship because of AD was healthy and a young player in ascending. When you get to a certain age where you get to a certain point in your career. And I'm not saying quarterbacks are not dependent on what's around them. Obviously we know that. But when you're 45, it's a little bit more critical that your offensive line is intact. It's a little bit more critical that you have a good run game. It's a little bit critical that you have an offensive minded coach that can put you in positions to be successful. Right now it's a bunch of disarray in town. So even if he decides to come back, it's tamper the right place. We don't know that. We don't know if left, which is going to lead. We don't know if Todd Bowles is going to still be the head coach. We don't know any of that. There is nothing in temple right now. Outside of his Tom says I want to come back. That's it in stone. So I think he's going to ride off in the sunset. Mark is good to talk to you. Sorry about your LSU tigers. I know, man. You didn't have to breathe. How do you lose to Texas a and M? If you don't do it, man. Don't do it. Don't take me down. And I think that positivity, it's sort of been like washed a little bit if you know what I mean. It's almost like cliched. But perhaps can you speak to positivity because I think there's a huge difference between authentic positivity and stoicism and putting on a brave face or a happy face, right? So when I talk about positivity, several times people have addressed the positivity with the toxic positivity that also exists. And so I'm not talking about that stuff. And to define the difference, right? For me, positivity is finding solutions and focused on those solutions despite whatever the obstacle to adversity is. Toxic positivity is saying, I'm going to smile and be happy about whatever it is and then find the easiest solution. So one of the examples I like to give is if someone brings you a sugar cookie and you take the sugar cookie smile at them and it's like, oh my God, delicious. But inside your thinking, this is disgusting, well, then that's toxic positivity. And that's not going to help the person make a better cookie or bring you the macadamia nuts you actually want. So instead, what I suggest is say, hey, thanks for the cookie, 'cause I appreciate you a gesture of kindness of, but you should know we should talk about what kind of cooking you bring me because that's going to yield what you actually are looking for. That's the solution talk. So for me, it's about finding solutions, not happiness, because the toxic positivity is about happiness. Well, I didn't want to make them upset. So I said, what was going to make everybody happy? And it's like, well, it didn't make you happy. It wasn't honest. So what good is happiness if it's not honest? And that's where I think positivity truly comes into play. Despite how dark the clouds are when you found solutions, you can smile because there's peace to be had in the lessons you've already learned. Love it, man. Love it. Love it, love it. So I'm going to let you go because I know your time is tight. Marcus awesome to meet you. I could speak to you for much longer. And I'm looking forward to I didn't finish the book, so I'm kind of in part way through it, but I got to say, it's an awesome book. You are very articulate. You've got a lot of wisdom to share. He is affectionately known as garden Marcus that is his AKA. And some people have likened him to the Bob Ross of gardening and I think you'll see just listening to this episode. It's very short..

"In life, right? Athletes growing up in the south, kind of the same cultural background, grandmother's mama's integral parts of what we were and growing up. But P town, the flip side of that is, in 2014, when you and I would sit there and we would talk about socioeconomic issues when we were talking about social justice issues when we would get into sports when we talk about the landscape of the SEC. You know that's what I love doing, man. I love talking about sports, but I like talking to people and getting to know them, even disagreeing and figuring out a way to either agree to disagree or bring me around to your side or vice versa. So it's something that I really enjoy doing with you, the hours are sitting in that studio and me and you going back and forth, blowing through breaks, producers being mad at both of us because we keep talking and won't chat up. So I'm still doing it, man. The podcast just does it without somebody telling you to rap. Well, the one thing I do want to ask you about because I owe a lot to you because I came in to this with a fairly typical point of view from someone who had done what I had done. I didn't really understand the plight of athletes. And being around you for all those years was an education which brings me to where we are today in college football. A basketball player today essentially told Miami the university of Miami, hey, unless you guys raise my NIL number, I'm out of here. And a lot of people cringe when they see that and all these other things. But Marcus from your perspective, where are we right now in college football with all this going on around us? Yeah, unknown land. And you know, I remember you and I were talking about this as well. It would be uncharted territory. There would be parts of NIL that people would detest and hate because the tradition and pageantry of college football and college sports in general, you knew people would have an issue. And when money gets involved, it gets convoluted. Things start to become confusing. I think you just in a correction, right? It's just like anything else. Once you start involving the ability for people to make money off their name, image and likeness, and all of these other companies with understanding the marketing budgets and things that they can do to get ingratiated with college sports in general, which had already a crazy money maker now, some of that money can be filtered down to the players. I'm a little bit, I guess, this encouraged or discouraged by some of the approaches of some of the athletes, right? Like, yeah, you treat yourself like a professional, treat it like a business. But to your point, they'll be out here asking nobody for $800,000, man. Or if you do it, do it in private. Or are you doing it in a way or in a manner that seems business like? And I just think that it's going to become more and more about the discussion, but I think a correction is going to come. The system will be figured out and how to structure it and tailor it. And I think the big argument was where we are right now, listening to four day and listening to you through sometimes throughout the week when people are calling about these NIS and the business that is going on, I think it's just like anything else P town, the money has now been involved. But the money has been involved. It just became so polarizing on how much revenue college sports was bringing in and how much how much responsibility that these athletes had for generating that particular revenue. I think just now you got to figure out a way to structure it. Figure out a way to cap it. And I don't think anybody was out here put a wild wild west. You know I beat my drum about these guys should be able to make money on their name image and likeness. And would it be fair no, because if you Bryce young and you the Heisman Trophy winner, you gonna make two, $3 million, then another kid that may be a good quarterback at a program that's not as polarizing as Alabama. All of that comes along with it. But it's just like contracts in the NFL or in the NBA or in any professional rank, which I believe college is so close. It's semi pro based on the revenue that's being generated, that they just need to figure out a way to structure it, whether that's cap per conference, cap per school, or just put an overall cap on what a kid can make. In any particular season, obviously special and extenuating circumstances for different individuals because that's how real life works, but I think ultimately you're just going through a phase of a lot of unknowns and ask people sift through and figure it out. It's a lot of frustration involved with that. But it's also a lot of celebration and celebratory things involved with that as well. Yeah, and I know there was this old adage that you heard and I'm sure you would cringe when some people would call and say, well, they are getting a free education. And we've moved past that thank goodness that we don't look at players and feel like we're giving them something. They are providing our great deal and whether they get too little or too much, they're at least getting something these days. Right, right. And Paul, you know, for me, that was what it was about. And I go back because you remember how mad and upset and how much of a visceral reaction I had when Todd Gurley got suspended for signing autographs. And I understood the rules and, you know, that's the first thing people want to rules don't allow them to do it. The rules were in place in a system in which the NCAA just had completely monopolized and made every athlete feel like we are under the thumb until we can figure out how to go pro. And that force guys, the leave school early that wasn't ready to go to the NFL, family situations, and circumstances. And I'm not going to tell a kid like myself or like a tar girly or any kid coming from backgrounds where they need all the financial help that they can get. And somebody want to give them $3500 to sign their name and they can send a check back to their mother or their father to help them do whatever, take care of younger siblings to help them keep the lights on or whatever. I just felt like it was so disrespectful not to allow them to be able to have that opportunity if what they've done has afforded them and brought enough attention for somebody to want to be able to put them in that particular situation. And that's where my great lab because I think you got to go deeper than just saying well that's the rule and they shouldn't be able to make money off their name image and likeness. Well, what if I need to supply something based on my talent and where I am in order for my family to be in a better situation? And you know that's always been the crux of my argument. So great to have you back here, Marcus, all the best tonight and with everything you're currently doing. We will hope to hopefully see you soon. We miss you. Thank you, my brother, love you, and I'll talk to you soon. And tell miss Linda to hit me up 'cause I know she don't want to talk to you all day. I'll tell her. Marcus spears. "Very phoney, a u e, Like I said, I I liked Fournier. He was what he was again. We we had this conversation right after the trade deadline. What are they going to do with Fournier? We would have had the conversation we're having now we had the day, they acquired Fournier which was this is going to be difficult for them. They're going to have crazy choices to make because if they re-signed Fournier and extend smart, they will have the most expensive non contending team, you know, in the NBA and that we, we, that was obvious then. And so what did they do? And and you were saying, they might have to pick one or the other they did. They didn't want to do both. They didn't want to be saddled with both contracts. So they had, they re-signed Marcus. They let Fournier walk. That was it. It's interesting cuz you wondering am I didn't have that market Bobby. You wonder if if fornia was here and they gave him, he signed three and thirty nine or three and forty two here instead. If Marcus would be gone because it makes a little dog. More than smart cuz he can shoot like, that's your salary in this league. Kind is proportional you're shooting ability. And for me is a much better shooter than smart. So it does actually make sense that he got a little bit more than smart right off like way more than smart if we're just basing off, guys, shooting abilities. Sure. So like, you know, you actually did ask a very tough question to start the show. There. You have three point guards. Now, I'm starting point guards, really, and you're missing a wing. So would it have made more sense to kind of have a shoulder in a Richardson there and have phony on the wing. I don't know, like both ends of the team-building standpoint that might have worked out better than this did, but there really does seem to be kind of like a heart string attachment to Smart hear, that they've had a tough time shaking. And that certainly went into this to the song manic report and it's funny because I mean, you know, even even you were ready to move on at the deadline, it would convinced ourselves for like it's probably time that the Marcus Smart arrows over and and now we've got four more years. Which is interesting. The you know, like it's never going to end is ever going to end. What what I'll say what I always say is, you know, you know, doing what I do, you know, and just watch sports and media and all of this stuff. And for all of these years, the number one thing I like our stories having Marcus Smart around is good because because he's so polarizing because he's so interesting because people have such strong opinions about him. He's been the center of Celtics talked on this network since like, yeah day. He was drafted. Yeah, pretty much is Giannis, media's job like center of attention. So you you know me. I love, I love stories. I love you know, stuff stuff that the best thing is having having something that people are Faithfully passionate about on both sides and Marcus Smart, is that thing and it'll continue here, you know, and and we'll see. You know, what you're hoping is there's a version of Marcus Smart that again That makes everybody happy but there's a world to which. It goes in the wrong direction and everybody's, you know, really pissed off too..

"At the time and this is a takeout. There was a this is a Celtics Homer place and the place lost its mind off every Bradley, eight million, four, four over four years. Are you crazy? And I was like, no, another one like that always like this deal is an absolute slam dunk. What is wrong with you song? People like this will be a bargain in ten minutes, you know, so it's this smart deal of reminds me a little of that which is like this is a it's still good to have this player and I don't think you're going to reach a point. He's twenty-seven you're not going to this isn't in year 2, it's not a Kemba deal or whatever where it's like, well, you know, you know, yours three and four aren't going to be good, but you'll get to Elite package. Really good years before the decline. He's still in his prime, you know at 27 years old. You're not worried about steep decline here. Okay. If you have this level of Marcus Smart for four years out, fine, it's fine to do that. It's just. Does it get you any closer to being a contender or was that did you have to take a different path to get there and wondered that one? That did not involve Marcus Smart. That's, that's the only question as it is, you're right? And that's why I think it's a bit of a hedge. You're fine. If he stays here and all he does is play it out. Yeah, the right answer is dead. Sara Lee siphoning town and then who knows? You could have gone in the next season after a great year from him in a starting point guard and maybe I had a potentially pay more, you know, like this. Is this actually I thought was a really good cap on what they would like cuz this under the rules was the most like a Pam and actually was a pretty good number and it's great because at all and it's great actually because the Celtics can say this is the most I've got an and it works for both for them. And for Marcus it's like this is pretty close to what I'm going to get anyway, so I'll just take it. So it is, you're right. It is it works for both sides here off. The one thing. I'll put my son, ehat on. Okay, you know, I tend to look at things know, but you look at things critically and again, for me, it's a, do they know what they're doing? And what the next move is. I'm not sure. But again, I do think the, the Hedge is what makes sense. You know, it's just a championship contending team. Know, without major things breaking their way, players reaching new levels or New Heights that we offer. Expect like a nice myth or a Rob or something like that. No, probably not but to be to put like a you know, a sunny perspective on it. We have not had a year-long Marcus Smart has never in his career had a year where it said, it's your balls on take it, you're the guy run the show. Be the point guard from from ever for from, from from years in the league till now, he's been stuck at as a tweener a bench guy, playing some to playing backup, point guard thrust into the starting, Lona, starting lineup at times, but he's never had one roll..

"Yeah. Yeah. So, you know, that is what it is. I guess, you know, ultimately, what it comes down to for me is if you still want, you want as much flexibility as you can possibly have. And you want to believe that you could, if you needed to move this move, this contract. Now, this is where you at differ. I don't understand. People will say, this is a value. You can trade this contract and a lot of people assume actually, this is one of the great things about this contract that it is now tradable. And I, you know, like I said, I'm a little worried that's not the case. Because you don't see very often a case of teams that have decided, you know, we're going to begin our process now, and we're going to strip down everything that we have and we're going to just do kids and young players. And we're going to trade Our Stars, we're going to load up on assets and we're going to hope that we hit the lottery. You don't see a lot of those team swinging deals for guy's making twenty plus million dollars a year over four years and that's what concerns me a little is. Everyone's like. Oh yeah, Washington, just take off Smart back for Bill or another team. Trading is free agent who they're not going to re-sign. And I don't know that, that's the case because it just doesn't that we don't really see examples of that in these type dog. Trades, you don't really get that. It's always young ascending players expiring contracts to make money match if you if need be and picks. And that's what happens in smart, doesn't fit a profile of any of those things. So, I get the idea that he could be a culture changer, but that more makes sense on a winning team or if you were a guy making mle money or, you know, as a month free agent. Flyer. Yes, bring them into. Absolutely change the culture around your kids. That might need a kick in the butt. But for years twenty million dollar commitment is is a little bit. Yeah, is a little steep. I think team that's trying to strip it down and rebuild. Yeah, it does depend on the situation there because the comparison I've thrown out is the Pelicans to Los ball stunningly, to me took satoransky and Tempo back, but the one year, one more year for ten million, right? That's all. So the money comes off the books and that circumstance. And that's the thing is, it's a different story. Marcus Marcus is extension begins after birth. Not this year, right? The night begins next year. So so five more years, Tony, if you trade for in the middle of the year, it's that plus for, you know, and it's that's that's a, that's a that's significant. So, I don't know that I think the Washington would want that. Well, when, if they turn around and flip them again, sorry. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, the, he is a valuable purpose in some sense, especially if he goes to a Washington and is the man for a year like I couldn't legitimately see smart having a huge season as a number one, number two, option on a team. Remember, this guy gave where he was at Oklahoma State coming in, to hear it was a massive Talent on both ends of the floor scorer..

"This week. I met marcus wareing. He's michelin starred restaurants. Marcus at the berkeley hotel. In london knightsbridge there was a lot to discuss and we started by talking about how career began years ago for me. Been in. north west. Lied was about working with my father. But those two as i could have gone i could against what my dad in his warehouse or gone to be with my brother. He was a chef and so the options was slightly limited in the town in the seventies but it was the obvious thing for me to do was to go into cajun. Because he's what my father wanted me to do and already started part time while i was at school in kitchens anyway so it was not new. It was pretty obvious where i was going to end up. What didn't know was where i was going to go. You phone success very early on you. Were twenty six. Winning course. Your first mission star. What led to that. I think it was a work ethic hard work training working in the right kitchens and picking up an opportunity at such a young age to become a head chef restaurants or partnership in restaurants something. It doesn't really happen at that age. And i think it was really down to the kitchens that are words in set me up to be in the position that i was in book being trained to the highest level. Means that when you get into do your own thing you are ready raring to go but there was never any expectations of being a star chef. Restaurant it was just the assignments of opening a restaurant. What came next. i'd knows coming. Do you think the industry has changed. Do you think when you look at young chefs today in the beginning of their careers to think they may find the same opportunities you've owned back in the day. Always it harder for them. I think today's use. I think we're gonna find it harder. Find it harder because different work ethic today and to stand out from the crowd. The people that made you stand out. were media. Newspapers radio television. Maybe a magazine and your customers now with social media and the way we'll communicate everyone's a star. Everyone tells the story. Everyone can adapt accordingly. Who they think they are and who they want to be. But you're starring your own right which is absolutely fine but everyone's in the same position which means your in a very big pond with lots of the same fish. Rather than standing our on your. That's the difficulty of the youth visit. How do you feel about that change. How do you feel about the rise of social media for example. I find it challenging. Because it's something that i do because of my job i think if i didn't do this job probably wouldn't do social media others see. It doesn't float. My boat doesn't take my box. i see my children. You know use it today. They're young. I see that it's really big. There live so. I embrace it for the modern world. We live in but he doesn't mean to say that i actually have fun. Doing it to feel like is also changing the way people eat there has been some discussions about some shift trying to start over food. So that when it's on the plate. It's instagram -able. I've never heard of that. Apple food on a plate tastes good to eat eat. Well yes of course you wanted to look at and of course fee can look artistic and i think you customer taking pictures. You want it to be very very best. You can do that but you also need the props you need the crockery unique. The storytelling you need. All the other sides of investment it becomes more than just. The food on the plate becomes a piece of art and to have that. It's not just a blank canvas. You need all props ago with a because the dish tells the story there's gonna be fame behind it. It's going to be a reason now. There seems to be an emphasis in storytelling. I've been reading your interviews. And it's something you mentioned regularly. what is your take. What is your food or cooking philosophy out. You create that story until do these. Stories began for my food philosophies. It's a building blocks of where. I've come in what i've done through the different generations that i've worked through into the different errors anyone. You're asked the question that you realize that you know. I've been kitchens that see she is. I've ran a kitchens as head chef now for twenty six years. That's a long period of time. But i do. I think the style that i've created is as i've got older. My kitchen stayed youthful on. I want the management of my kitchen to keep my food refreshed. Exciting beautiful ingredients prepared. Well served in that beautiful environment and that is really one of the keys to my view and food is great communication with the management of my kitchen. Tell them what i want to do. I also like them to express themselves along the way so the food is very much my whole life story and is not set in stone. It will change as the months go by. And how was your thinking about. Food changed over the years or even decades whenever used to go out and go to top restaurant. This got two or three recent stars. the same food being cooked. That was called fifteen twenty thirty years ago. I find it quite hard to deal with the aspect of its accolade and i find that really frustrating that there's nothing wrong with what they're doing is just that the world has moved on as we've just said we social media. I believe that you have to keep moving forward and try and reinvent yourselves. I don't think he's good enough for me to serve a dish that i served twenty two years ago even if everyone loved it yeah. I don't think he's writing to do. I think you should evolve. You should adapt you can evolve the dish you can tweak it you can change it. You can dress it up differently. You could have the core value. But i do believe that it needs to move on because he just because i believe that's how i think is how i look at food. I don't like to sit. Just sit still on something because one day you'll you'll fall over. You'll get trapped. I don i. Can you give me an example of a dish and evolution like that. Is there something you repair in some form. Twenty years ago and people fight it in different form today. now there's only one dish that keeps rearing his head for what it was for and that was attacked. I cook for the queen on her eightieth birthday. And that keeps coming back time again because it was something people requested. I can't change the base of it because it is what it is. I can change everything that goes around can change presentation. I can change the flavoring within it. So i can maneuver around to the way i like it but it's the only dish the only one that keeps popping backup no to be honest. I have to ask how difficult it gets. You find yourself in a situation that you of finding it harder to come up with new dishes in the audio's really. I think we eat out lighter. Lots i go out and see people. I'm a master chef. I talked to my chess. I think what i want to do is keep driving the kitchen to look for new supply chain different types of ingredients a better poor better. Beef farming is just getting better and better and embracing what our farmers and producers are providing. As and i think for me. That's something that my team really do enjoy. It may be pork. But it's port from x. Or from why or from and this is why it is so good. I think enjoying that flavor food. You don't really need to do great deal with it. He actually speaks for itself into a restaurant recently and i just had a veal chop and he was just a plight and it was extraordinary. You could hardly cheered. He was incredible. It was so soft. Beautifully caught beautifully. Caught on the outside perfectly cut in the center is just fill nothing with it. That's is good khukri. One thing on a plate festa so when you go to those restaurants. How often nowadays impressed by what you get. Your favorite chefs would appreciate at the moment. Well has as i am impressed. I'm impressed with that particular piece of meat. I'm always go now enjoying food gme but it doesn't bother me if i get good or bad food in a restaurant i think helen zoro's for me. A sensational chef three stop mason last year this year. Excuse me and. I was really really pleased for her. I think i love to love restaurants. I just really think that what she creates is fine. Dining classical french chef with extraordinary modern.

"He said so. Funky episode of small dose as you know insecure has finished filming. And you know. I'm i'm not sure when the last season airs but people have a very strong connection to the show as i felt like it will be so fun to do an episode with the person whom i have the strongest connection with on the shell and that's today's episode title. Do wild love is all about tiffany. And derek dubois. Hey man the seals. And wade elaine marcus. And our experience over these five seasons in forging a friendship off screen and forging a like a week of say. We are a functional couple. Onscreen and i wanted to just talk about like our journey as actors in that process and also like our journey with our characters because i think our characters over the course of the seasons like definitely grew in their effectiveness as friends right like in the friend group. And so. i'm curious of you. You don't seem to agree. But i have a vision. I have a thought on that way. We wage say that again. Our effectiveness grew like in the very so here. We way the la. Marcus is joining us. I was in the middle of an intro but now here we are just dropped right into it. Because i felt like in the beginning we were just very snacky right like if you go back to episode three of season where we're at the party. We are definitely the body light skin. Like we're gonna every line is going to drip with shape. Yes and it's like i. It's yacky if also nothing like either which lights at but it was very like you're definitely much different than your character. I feel like in some ways multi self and derek. It's like derek is a is a space for me to do things and save things that i would want to say that i may not necessarily do in real life on the shades of just wanting to beat super asshole ish. There's absolutely a those bones in my body that i choose daily to not be and that you know. She gave me that face to do that. Air i mean. I feel like there's there was also a development of derek as a as a sounding board of common sense amongst the men. Yeah absolutely only dude on the show by as being his head. You know what i mean. He's the only one that is committed. That is not wishy washy. I mean really you know. He's the only one who's not insecure in a lot coming laugh. I think that there versions of it that you can sort of you know things to point two or whatever but like he's definitely now he's always know who he is and that was. That was a we did aggressive. Self acceptance i mean. It was very much like i'm derek And i know me. And i know my my wife and now my child and so the rest of y'all it's whatever but i've appreciated so seeing him become more than just like the snarky like affeldt for both of our characters you know. I was glad to see the writers round us out to be more more willing parties to this friend group. Because i feel like in the beginning it's just like why are they even friends with them. Like do they even like each other. Why are they even hanging out with this squad was like they definitely leaned into our truth teller kind of nece selves. I feel like that is us you know. And so we ended up being those people for different characters on the show. That was like this is true. This is how it is. And i'm going to tell it how it is like. We were always. That person. didn't really dance around what it is like. We're just going to be like. What are you talking about. This is this is the thing and it just started being written in a way that was yeah like less kind of mean about it in or just. That's what it is. You know. I mean i guess to your point earlier slightly more bookstore. Well yeah i mean. I remember in the united states in one like all the girls were like on that trip in malibu where like in the hot.

"Okay because he was terrified. Alright as he still is. And i think if marcus had been in the city of chicago for the rodney collins gone down for you. Yeah he would unconvicted okay so now. We get to the crux of the situation. Why marcus spent twenty three years. Wrongfully incarcerated the murder of the apple t on february twenty seventh nineteen ninety eight. This is the story of the crime that the police and state's attorney's office used to convict. Marcus but i believe we can all see a pattern for me. Here that leans towards this being total fabrication from burgeon. His flunkies so okay. Allegedly the obelisk teague was driving down. If i read in chicago with edrich farley insurance tyler sean tyler's fucking brother by the way okay and allegedly now the maroon car in front of the apple. Stieg's car backs up into them with enough force to push them in the car backward thin teague allegedly drove to the fifty two hundred block of south marshfield avenue parked his car and got out to assess the damage at which point supposedly driver of the maroon car. Allegedly marcus wiggins stepped up to teague and said what's up now teague and the others allegedly ran while marcus allegedly opened fire killing teak. Now neighbors are thirteen shots. That supposedly came from a nine millimeter semiautomatic. Neither were shell casings. Found collected at the scene by the way nor were bullets recovered from peaks body so police maintained that the shooting was gang related despite what we already covered. Which was that. Marcus was never in any gangs again. The states word here is wholly totally unreliable now. According to cedric farley a statement and testimony that he later recanted he ran over to teague who allegedly told him that a guy named stutter shot him and stutter was marcus nickname markets. Please clarify about calling you stutter. Stuff like that like where it came from a k from our torture like ball firma friends. My cousin those who. Talk i stutter. Is abraham cost nas donna out of the torch. So that's important jason. Because they put that she the witnesses mouth man death intimate knowledge.

"Of things are more on the it side in things which was a huge learning curve for me in industry. I was more of a hands on mechanical guy. So i had to go to be kinda cross trained in both industries to be able to make firm decision on what we needed when i got into facility management. No the grade-point marcus. One of the things that i say on this topic that you just brought up is that i believe that younger people or anyone of any age coming into the trades or into building operator profession. Let's just talk about building. Engineers and building operators the building engineer and building operator at the future is going to need to understand the basics of computer science is such an. It overlap so to speak as you said and they're going to at least have to know the basics of computer science in order oregon able to work with somebody's new fault detection diagnostic systems. The analytic systems the control systems in the automation systems. They're gonna need understand some basics about computer science definitely. Well let's move on now. Marcus wanna talk about renewable energy sources and energy efficiency a little bit further. I know that you and i are both involved heavily. And energy management and energy efficiency and renewable energy. What are some of the transient noticing and building automation in regards to saving energy. Well you know. A lot of companies now are taking energy a lot more serious than normally. What have i came from the private sector. Where of course in the casinos where you know. Hey those huge bills you better come up with a way to reduce those and then in the public sector where you're getting government. Funding was a little lax on that end but even now are starting to understand that. Government rate's gonna change if you don't take appropriate measures and reduce energy so we all know about the led lighting implementing the led lighting. And taking some of those fluorescent lights out put now. we're talking about being automation systems. You're ingrain that lighting as well into your bs. Now at your program in aligning to. Let's say turn off at a certain time of day but those who forget to turn the lights on and off maybe the a c. Hvac system adjusting the set point per user just by the person walking into the building scanning their badge. So now that you know that this user are this employee normally likes to be seventy two degrees versus seventy a will adjust at and then unoccupied mode. Which is the biggest energy saving piece that bill nation brings to the table. This is all gonna.
