"Live for getting out of the groups, Steve. Well, they're going to beat rangers, right? Do you know what it's very, very difficult to sit here and be positive about anything? You know, I was looking, you know, we previously probably 5 minutes ago, we put up Liverpool start to the season. And after the man city victory, it actually could have lost every single game. No, they didn't, but the way the plan on thee could have absolutely a bigger problem. Apart from Bournemouth. Everybody other game. Every other game, the way the games went, conceivably, they could have lost them. And it wouldn't have been a huge shock the way they played. Which I access the next game Anfield. Listen, when these groups came out, I said that I would not be half the team they were because they've lost half the players, the leagues of Anthony. And Marciano united and others, but right now I can't see Liverpool defend and properly against anybody. That's the situation, the Liverpool are in right now. Regardless of the opposition, the one we thought I've got is they're going to give up opportunities. And right now we're given goals of it. I'd love to talk to the judge and Napoli, but I can't pronounce his name. Come on. Come on, come on. Keisha, kavara. There you go. This is a little more easier to say. Thomas Tuchel sacked. That of course was announced this morning. Gab, don't tell me you weren't surprised. I haven't seen people all day long. They're not surprised because you know what was going on behind the scenes. This is a massive shock, isn't it? I was shocked because it was so stupid. I mean, I don't know what other word you come up with this, right? I have Chelsea have been putrid all season. And you can see that the guy has been a bundle of nerves and he's been acting weird and losing his cool with Cole and Tim whatever else. Fine. Chelsea let it be known that, oh, we had some concerns about this for a while now and it wasn't a knee jerk reaction. When you come in, if you're a new owner and you want to make your Mark and you want to change the manager, you change the manager, you bring in another guy, ideally you have a director of football too. And you go and you plan this summer. You don't go and allow two hole to decide how to spend your money $300 million plus in new signings this summer. And we can debate whether it was the right signings right prices. I'm not sure some of them were. And then first week in

"You too, right? It does, but those are two beatings by one man who actually won and a half. One and a half of a beating because that first fight was actually what two and a half. The first fight was good. Competitive. That's what I'm getting at. And then 35 was a beating. So two and a half. Two and a half fights of obesity good beatings. Yeah, but that's by one man. So I think he should just move on from those beatings and it goes back to knocking guys. I'll get that confidence back. Every fighter from rocky, Marciano rocky bell but not Rocky Marciano, but rocky Balboa. He'll come back with the eye of the Tiger, get some knockouts in, get the popularity back. And he's back. Well, I think he's got the right opponent in front of him October 15th. I mean, Robert and Lenny is the perfect comeback upon it. He's credible because he's got the back to back wins over Adam Kublai. But he's also vulnerable. He's 38 years old, and in the last few years, he's been knocked out by Gerald Washington. He was knocked out by Johann dua. Deontay Wilder should knock him out if he's anything close to that. If he's not, we'll learn in that fight. Look, the pathway for wild to have this second reign that he keeps talking about is there. Like he beats hilarious. There's a chance that a fight against Andy Ruiz if Ruiz beats Ortiz is for a vacant title. Like it's certainly possible if after fury and usyk do what they do, that those two guys could fight for a title. So there's a world championship, potentially on the table. And on paper, I favored Deontay Wilder against Robert helenus. On paper, I favored Deontay Wilder against Andy Ruiz. I think he's still very much able to be a top guy in the division. He's just got to want it though. I mean, you got to be able to relate to that. Like at some point, you stopped wanting it as much as you did earlier in your career, right? You got like no, no, no. It was never, it was never an issue about complacency or not being hungry. It was an issue of distractions. And that has to do with hunger. It just has to do with life. You know, you got to juggle life outside of boxing and distractions get in the way and this is where mental issues come around. I work on Caesar's palace right now, a distraction. You know what? Caesar's palace was a good time. And what good is getting to the top of the mountain if you can't enjoy the fruits of your labor? I would have loved to have known you back then at that time to see what you were doing at that point. No, but listen, I think you're right on point with the hellenes fight in the Andy Ruiz fight, but I'm going to tell you one thing, mannix, both those fights are going to be difficult, especially the Ruiz fight have ever happened, but he is going to give wilder some issues. I'm telling you right now. He's coming off a really successful versus a tall fighter. Tall fighters that are freakishly tall, 6 foot 6 plus. They're not accustomed to fighting another fighter that's 6 foot 6 plus. There are accustomed to having the size advantage. So whenever you get a big man fading a big man, they're not accustomed to it, kind of like a southpaw is unfamiliar with fighting another southpaw. It's awkward. I think hellenius is going to have some moments. He might even shake up wilder, that's going to be a better fight than expected. I don't disagree. I just can't get past how hellenius was stopped by Gerald Washington. I know Jared Washington. Big man.

"Known as the singer, producer and guitarist, behind bully. John darnielle is no stranger to big concepts or literary through lines as music, but Stephen, something feels really invigorating about this record. Oh, I think invigorating is a great way to put it. You know, I have been a mountain goats fan for a really, really long time. John darnielle is one of my favorite living songwriters. He's very, very prolific. And in his early days, his songs had this nervy quality to them, you know, he would record them on a boom box and he would just like play an acoustic guitar. His songs often had this really anthemic quality and over time, the mountain goats formed into kind of a full band and got really polished. And a lot of his albums, you know, started to take on more conceptual quality he would do an album about D&D or an album about Goths or an album. You know, just kind of these different high concept albums, but the songs had this really stately quality that to me squashed their power a little bit. I think the addition of Alicia banano as the producer. I first of all I love Bowie. Check out bullies records if you haven't heard them. She allows this band to be anthemic again. The concept behind this record, it's called bleed out, the concept is that each of these songs is inspired by an action movie, and each song kind of plays out like an action movie. And thematically, there's a lot of songs about bleeding and fighting and training and dying, and the songs just have the muscle underneath them to match that. And so there are several fully scream along songs on this record that you really can just pump your fist and shout to in a way that I have really missed from this band. What do we miss to try and stay true? I do this for the ones they love to twist in the wind. I do it this way. I also am a long time mountain goats fan and I'm not really an action movie person. I feel like I try to avoid movies with hostages or car chases or people bleeding out or whatever, but John Demi is just such a masterful storyteller that he can really make me interested in care about anything and you know it makes me think about this novel that John darnielle put out earlier this year called devil house, which is like a true crime story, but it's also kind of like about our cultural fascination with true crime. Why do we care about those kinds of stories why are we so continually drawn to them? And I think he's doing something similar on this record. Like, yes, the songs are about action movies, but when you're listening to the album, you're kind of thinking, he's kind of also thinking about why are we drawn to these stories? How does it feel to relate to them? How does it feel not to relate to the types of people who populate those stories to get inside their heads, that kind of big picture thinking is something I just appreciate about his songwriting so much. Yeah, I am an action movie aficionado. I can say with some certainty that these songs really do carry the fast emotion of a car chase. There's a lyric about how when we were done with the shovels like we'll just use our nails to dig in the ground and it's like that is super representative of this like keep going until you drop ethos that these movies have and the album really does a great job of like poking fun at that while also sort of like honoring the energy behind these movies and what makes them so gripping. The mountain goats, the album is called bleed out. Rock Marciano is a rapper who usually makes his own beats, but here has teamed up with the alchemist on a fold length collaboration. This is the track JJ

That sounds so bad for you. I did it. I did it. I took a hit of vodka. I don't know what that is at the parlance. It's fucking sucked. Yeah. What color sensation was that? It burned. It felt bad. I felt a little woozy for a second there. Of just like, oh, alcohol, but then it was gone on immediately. It's like, who would do this? Who wants this? Seems like a waste. Yes, also probably an extreme waste. Because then you don't want to use cheap stuff. You'd want to use top shelf stuff because who knows what sediment is laying in that bad vodka. But that does the sediment. Heat up to a point where you are ingesting it, or are you turning low quality vodka into high quality volume by distilling it? I'm just thinking of my CPAP machine and how I'm freaked out constantly washing it out and I have to use distilled water. I don't know, maybe I should throw some alcohol into my CPAP. She did look like any model. Anyone had seen for a long time. She was curvy. She was voluptuous at a time. When models very very thin so much of the beauty that came before that was was really about this emphasis on the narrowness of the body that you just couldn't even achieve like i'm like am i even a person so when you saw her was like rear really doing something different. You know you sort of think about blondes as being this kind of metaphor for female power and female empowerment and control that we actually have over men. It seems so exciting those pictures alone. I think mesmerized the world that first day shooting forgets makes anna nicole smith a worldwide stone. And she's about to get everything she could have possibly of dreamed of and a lot of things that she never dreamed of. That are kind of nightmare. Guests campaign is major. It shows up everywhere it plays anna's glamour and makes her hugely famous meanwhile playboy continuing to eventually her playmate. I worked with her over a year's period of time and you could see the difference because came in. She was just throw from a fried chicken place now. She was big star. She wasn't going to trust anybody who's going to perform for you. Probably back in the strip club. She really had the ability to make you believe that you were very special..

"Welcome wire-tappers out there here in this video of gang. Lenoir beautiful fall afternoon not on the golf courses afternoon folks in here getting ready to record a podcast for y'all i have the grandson of james diamond. Jim brough cada. His grandson's name is bobby. Bre qatar now bobby. Did i pronounce that close enough. Yes sir okay good. I like to say my northwest missouri nasal hillbilly kind of trying funny. What about that. I just had a comment. Somebody said always seems weird to have a guy with a southern voice. Say the word capco. Now i don't really consider southern voice to you have got northern voice to people up this guy resume shah firm chicago to him. I have a southern boy. So a hewlett you guys. Listen to bobby talk a little bit and you'll hear that salt sweet syrupy south louisiana voice. Our true southern boys right. Yeah it's a little different than new. All has its own unique accent. I've been confused being from boston. New york no. Yeah you know. I hear that now. Wow i do hear that many dollars around the city you know. Talk to different people. You can tell what part of the city from interested in so now. Let's get to the meat of this. You've written a book here recently. Called food for kings. And it's part to crime as part history in his part a recipe book cookbook. If you will food for king diamond jim. A new orleans legend now diamond. Jim mocatta was your grandfather. And there's a really interesting book folks especially if you like to cook. It's got those really great new orleans recipes in it and this guy your grandfather. Your grandpa was one of the most colorful characters in new orleans from what i've read about him. It was unbelievable. Tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got interested in doing this particular book. Okay very first of all. Thank you for having me on your show. appreciate it. earth off a married with two children in military. Over twenty years i retired in two thousand and eight and i've been aircraft mechanic for american airlines and now delta. I picked up this project after my father died and wait basically he motivated me to kind of pick up the torch and carry it. My dad was a dentist for forty years and he always wanted to do a screen. Play or movie per se. He's never do it. I have i did a screenplay originally. But i didn't go anywhere with it so i decided a couple years ago. Put a book together and kind of tell a story about my grandfather while i'm telling. The story basically blended in combination photos and recipes as i journey through his whole life. I start off when he's a childhood and carried on throughout his life until the success of his life until he died. It's a good read. It took me about eight years to go through it and do the research are did get a lot of information from father. My father ahead a manuscript he has deposition that he had put together with a attorney. Back in nineteen seventy seven. So i use all that information and took my tom everything in the book that i've talked about a kind of support it with a document and the article. Either that was given to me handed down to me or maybe that of actually found in the library found a lot of information doing the research about my grandfather in the library his life. It was pretty easy because his life was documented since he was a teenager so every time i tried to fill in the blank. Something in my father didn't pass down to me. I was able to answer all the questions that i wanted to answer about his life. You know interesting. That stuck a little bit about his early life. He fought under the name of jimmy moran which is kind of like no joy hupa in chicago took on an irish name in order to fight. I think more likely it was a lot of prejudice against italians in those days. Especially in new orleans. If you remember we go all the way back to the black hand days and they they killed the chief of police some Supposedly some black hander. Kill the chief of police in of new orleans storm to jail and hung. I dunno must have been six or eight say ends i. I can't remember exactly for sure. How many so. It would have been wise for him to fight on her an irish name. I would imagine tell me about his fight career. Let's get started. Well that was one thing. They kind of treat. My curiosity was widely. Any changes his name in the book. I did find a quote where someone asks them. Same questioned do an interview. He said he did for business reasons. But that was part of it because you gotta realize he didn't get into business opened up first restaurants on nineteen forty nine. He changed his name. I found articles where he had his name change in teens early. Nineteen hundreds. He hung around a couple of friends of his feet. Herman who's an italian pita. Golota was his last name. And the other guy. By the name of powell moran. His name was francis. Paul miranda and all of them were full blooded italian as you know and you listeners. Know that back. Then the titans will kinda frown upon. They weren't considered equal. Maybe to a lot of different even the irish whatever. So i've found out. He had changed his name one. He didn't want his mother was fighting when he was on the fighting card. You know and during the preliminaries in hours fighter. Irish name would draw big crowds for fight. A lot of people don't know new orleans was actually a big boxing city equivalent to chicago and new york but on a smaller scale of course but it was a big boxing town in a drool audit. And that's how he got to meet jack dempsey marciano. You know all those big fights back then because they came to new orleans and then he connected so his first circle of friends will all italians. pete. Herman was abandoned. Champion thinking sixty nine fights from nineteen twelve to nineteen twenty two now as far as my grandfather. He wasn't as big of a boxer as those guys. He did it for my research. Maybe about six years and then he got a little older. He got into referee in and he started refereeing. He did that until about twenty seven years old. Then that's when you up his barber shop in the open up a barber shop with a boxer front of his last name was burke in as when he got an barring after referee
