In the third, the bruins took the lead for good, two 49 into the period on all second goal of the game, a power play goal. And then with 41 seconds left in regulation, Brad marchand added an empty net goal for the bruins. Greg kede, Boston.

"This week, ESPN announced week two, they do it on a Monday Night Football double header. For those listening, who don't know, they're doing one ABC ESPN will do one double header this year. It's going to be in week two. Next year in 2023, they'll do three double headers. And the games are going to start at 7 15 and 8 30. So they're going to overlap. They're not going to be one right after the other, like when they do 7 and ten. It's Titans bills at 7, 15, Vikings eagles at 8 30. Do you like this or does this piss you off too? Love it. I love it. Okay, positive. Yeah, I love these. We mess up with holidays, which is a big thing, but also I just feel like, look, Monday night, you already know you're getting into the one game. And I love the idea of having an earlier start and then a game right behind it. So yeah, I'm all for the double headers. I wish it was a regular thing. I put it this way. I prefer the two on Monday than one on Monday, one on Thursday. I know that will never change. But I like the two on Monday. All right, let's end this now on a high dose because Sal likes it. I like it. I wish they was spaced out a little more. I'd like 7 and 9, maybe, or 6. What time is it? It's 7 and one. 7 15 and 8 30, I believe. Yeah, well, right. I wish there were more space out to. I'd rather have the later. Why not just make it a true double header starting at 10 o'clock or something? Make it a West Coast camp. My guess is, you know, it's interesting. I'm sure they have their reasons. I think maybe those later games, if they're not close, you talk in midnight, 1 a.m. on the east coast. I don't know what the ratings may be not as well. And I think this is also, this is a way to get more games on ABC. So that's what I do like it. I mean, I liked what that was one of the things about COVID that, when these games are getting scheduled, you have the mid week double headers. So I'm all for the Monday night double header. Yeah, I loved it when there was a game on like a Wednesday afternoon. All right, Sal, appreciate it. All right. Be well. Glad we ended on a high note. We'll talk to you later. See you next week. All right, my thanks to Andrew marchand and Sal.

"Segment from WFA and radio S and Y TV in New York, salata Sal, how are you? Pretty good. I can't complain, really. Matt still rolling. Metz and yanks to become a national story eventually and I know it's big here in New York, but yeah, both those two teams, two of the hotter teams and Major League Baseball. One thing I'll say about the mets, which is has nothing to do really with the Met. It's on a larger point here that everyone listening can appreciate. You know, they had a crazy comeback last week down 7 one in the 9th against the Phillies squirt 7 and the 9th and one 8 7. And to me, this just backs up there's this old school versus new school theory and Gabe Kaplan or the manager of the Giants caught a lot of shit recently because his team was up big and they were stealing bases and bunting for base hits and they broke some unwritten rule. Well, if the mets would have tried, I mean, if the Phillies tried to stop scoring in that game and the mets came back, 7 runs in the night. So to me, this whole thing where you're not supposed to try and you can't steal bases and you can't button. I've always thought it was nonsense. And I think that met win sort of proves that. You're usually an old school guy. So where do you fall on that? I think it's ridiculous that people would complain about the team trying to score more. Come on. It makes no especially in today's game. It was different back then. Especially in today's game. How could you complain about what you deem a team running up to school? Get them out. That to me is just stupid. Yeah, like if you're up 8 one in the fourth, you're not allowed to blend for a base hit. What kind of bullshit is that? Yeah. I don't get it. I can see how somebody would think it's bullshit. If you have a no hitter going and somebody falls, but hey, even that, it's part of the game. You don't like it, get the guy out. But I could see how that would rub people the wrong way. Stealing a base or trying to score more runs, I don't care how big elite is. You got to play the game hard. If they can't stop you, that's on them. Right. Again, anytime anyone gets questioned, they just have to pull out that med Philly game. Another topic..

"Greg was insane right now the Boston Bruins are pretty desperate, right? Their backs are against the wall. They face the Carolina hurricanes tonight in Boston in game 6 of their series, and the hurricanes are up three to two. And it feels safe to say that if the bruins are going to do this thing, if they're going to force a game 7, it's going to be because of the guy that we have celebrated appropriately, I think, without hyperbole, as the most hated man in hockey. Oh, I can confirm Pablo that Brad marsh island is in fact the most hated man in hockey. In April, the NHL PA came out with a poll, it asked which player do you least enjoy playing against, but with most want on your team? And far and away, the winner of that poll was Brad marchand to the Boston Bruins. So this guy, the left winger for the bruins, a star and a villain. What has he done in this series so far? How is his life been? So the bruins lost games one and two of this series against Carolina by combined score of ten to three, the first two games were in Raleigh and marchand only had one assist in those games, but he did leave his mark almost literally. He was fined $5000 the maximum allowed under the NHL collective bargaining agreement. For slashing goalie, Peter could check if in game two. Easy save for the checkoff. He didn't like a little push from our show. And the exchange stinks. So go check off may not speak. Munch English, but he knows that Brad marchand is and he wasn't going to take it. Then the action went back to Boston. And marchand, while his game woke up, he had a goal and two assists to give Boston a four two victory in game three. Marchand with a steal right circle bergeron shoots blocked in front marchand byers. Brad marchand in the slot cast money. And then.

"Year deal for Tom Brady in the Fox booth as their lead analyst. So Andrew marchand from the New York Post who broke the financials on that joins us marchand was booked before Tuesday when the deal came about. So great timing that we get Andrew's perspective on all this. And we also, it's not just a conversation about Brady. We get into a lot of layers of the Brady story, but then also some other sports media topics, what Amazon's doing with their NFL coverage, what's going on with good morning football, looking for a replacement for K Adams, Kentucky Derby ratings, F one, becoming a big deal here in the United States. So a lot of topics with Andrew, but obviously heavy on Brady and then following that conversation, train of thoughts with our weekly segment there with Sal. So that's what's coming up before we get to it. Great reminder last week, Katie, no one was on the podcast. Two weeks ago, Ryan Rosso three weeks ago, Kenny Smith. If you missed any of those interviews, going to the archives and check them out. "All right, let's change topics to something way more interesting than the Super Bowl. Stone cold, Steve Austin. Vince wants him to wrestle a match at WrestleMania. Now, normally, I say like, I don't love watching the Hogan and flair like it's kind of sad when they try to wrestle when they're old, but stone cold has been the one guy who's nobody at wrestling ever walks away. Stone cold has done it. He hasn't been in a ring in like 15 years, probably. You want to see it or you don't care. I don't really care. I'm not, remember, we always talk about this. I'm from like 86, 85, 86 to 92. Now I'm familiar with The Rock and Austin and the attitude era and all that, but not I wasn't like a 100% into it. I think if I knew that he was going to be there, I'd probably be more inclined to watch it than I would normally, so I'd be intrigued. I don't know how like is he physically able to he always said he wasn't able to because of his neck, but I guess, you know, and warned people just ripping now I didn't watch it, but I heard people ripping Shane McMahon for being there at the Royal Rumble. So it's like we don't want these old people. I know that Austin is a different level, but aren't they going back to the same old bag what is it gonna be Hogan versus Austin? I mean, what are they doing here going into the old guys? Well, the undertaker continuing to bring him out where he looks shot. Since you brought up Shane, I'm gonna ignore what you just said and just switch gears because that's actually a great story. How about this? So Shane, did you follow this? So apparently Shane McMahon was one of the producers of the Royal Rumble Match. And one of the backstage people who worked on putting together the Royal Rumble Match. And then the Royal Rumble Match was awful, got vicious backlash and then Vince the next day fires his son and chains out of the W is there anyone else who would fire their son besides Vince McMahon? That is tremendous. I did not know all that. I just read some of the stuff there, but then bizarre relationship. Yeah. And then last week, AEW was kept promoting the big surprise of people thought it would be Shane McMahon can you imagine shaving man turns up on AEW wrestling? That would make me watch. You talked about that so real quick. Let me just follow up with you. What is up with the Cody Rhodes thing? He left AEW and he's going to go to WWE apparently. I don't understand that. Wasn't he wasn't he AEW period? That's what I thought. But Tony Kahn owns the company. So why is he when everybody else seems to be leaving WWE to go to AEW? Why is he doing the opposite? Have you ever heard of a thing called money? So that's what it is. I mean, good for everything. Everything is money. Money. Money money money money. There was such a big part. Look, again, I don't know the word out of watch AEW, but just from knowing a little bit about it. But it's a startup company. I'm sure you got shit money for many of those years, and now he wants to cash it out. Oh, good for him. I'll be curious to see his return to the WWE if that happens. Last thing, do you watch euphoria on HBO? No, should I? I was going to ask you that question. I do not like it. I thought you did, and I was going to ask you if I should, but I feel like given the buzz I constantly see, I need to be watching it. What is it about? I never even heard of it. On a high school kids doing drugs is what I think. No, thank you. I think I'll pass on that. All right. I think I gotta, I gotta get, I think I gotta check it out. Yeah. All right, well, you let me know and then I'll see you. Let me my producer, do you watch it? Either say yes or give me a message me on like slack or zoom if you're listening. Shelby does not watch it. All right. I need to get some info on euphoria. All right. So appreciate it. And we'll talk to you next week about God knows what. Nothing going on. I'm trying to figure something out. All right, I'll talk to you later. Take it easy. Thanks. "marchand" Discussed on SI Media Podcast

"Jimmy trying to thanks for listening, post Super Bowl fallout week. We've got Andrew marchand. We get into way, way more than the Super Bowl with Andrew for the New York Post. And obviously he got his own sports media podcast. Get into the Al Michael situation as Troy Aikman leaving Fox, Sean mcvay, is he going to go into broadcasting. Manning cast copycats, Chris Russo and Stephen a Smith on first take and obviously it thoughts on the Super Bowl telecast, all that with marchand followed by the train of thought segment with sala cata, where we get into some of the stuff about the Super Bowl halftime show. And we had a big discussion about Stone Cold Steve Austin, possibly coming back to the WWE. So check that out before we get to marjan and train of thoughts or reminder last week boomer syson was on the pod two weeks ago, Brian Curtis, three weeks ago, Roman Reigns Joe buck Jim nantz. Those pods, all the archives, if you haven't listened to any of those, check them out, subscribe, rate, and review, try to review really helps a lot. I appreciate that. And that's it for the plugs. Let's get to the pod. Andrew marchand from the New York Post followed by train of thoughts at solicitor right here on this week's aside media podcast. All right, joining me now, SI media podcast regular, write it for the New York Post host of the Martian and overran podcast. He is Andrew marchand, Andrew, how are you? Good, how you doing? I'm good. Did you enjoy the Super Bowl? I did. I did. I was out in LA for a week before. So that was good. And then the game, you know, not a great game, but I think you give out of a ten, you probably give it a good 7 or 8. Maybe a 7. Why were you in LA for a week, just a hobnob and find out where all Michaels is going to go? Yeah, basically. Yeah, it's a good for me, covering baseball like a country like it's the winner meetings. So it's actually more fruitful than the winter meetings. My baseball writer friends listening to sit around and wait for Joel Sherman, Rosenthal, name in a tweet, everything out, and now you get some stuff when you're out the winter meetings, but it's a trillion baseball writers waiting for Scott bors to talk. Yeah, it's fruitful for me. It lays the groundwork for the year. A lot of ways. Where you at radio row? I did go there. I went by their briefly a couple of days. I talked to some people. How was it? How horrible was it? Oh, how horrible. I think it was that horrible. I mean, I talked to McAfee, I talked to Russo, so it was good for me. You go right to the big guys. You're not fooling around with Joe theisman and Eric Dickerson like every sports talk radio show in the country. Yeah. I just kind of checked it out. But it wasn't kind of like the main reason to be out there. So, but yeah, it seemed all right. I think next year there's a chance we get back to more normalcy. It ticked up again. I forgot the exact numbers in terms of how many people were there, but it wasn't a zoo. I quite honestly, you don't want to pandemic. Bruce there. But. It was a little bit, you know, those things are a little crowded, it's kind of gross, you know, beforehand. So a little less people is not the worst thing. You said you talked to McAfee, do you have a McAfee feature coming? No, I just introduced myself to him. I've been pretty kind to him, but on the air once it aired injuries on, and she said, I don't like her and then he said, I didn't like him, so I just wanted to introduce myself because I've been pretty positive. I blew him up once about he was kind of campaigning for Monday night a few years ago on Twitter, and then we DMed and it was all cool. And it might be cool. That might not be anything. No big deal there. But I just like to introduce myself to people like covers, I try to, you know, so I can know them from covering them. It's important to me. If I can, I think it's better. So that's what I did. I've grown to like his show. I mean, I don't think anyone can have anything, but massive respect for how he's built his media. Career empire. Even before the 40 million from FanDuel or whatever it was, 400 million. But. People focus on the roger stuff, but he does good interviews. His interview style I like it. And I like his takes. I like the way he does the way he runs his show. I had wrote, I wrote one negative. I don't even think it was negative. I mean, I guess if you're him, you could see it as negative. But he had gone on the air one Monday and said, like, every NFL analyst no, no. He went on the air and said, like, he can't believe how bad some NFL analysts are. And I'm like, if you're going to do that, you got to name some names because he did it in a pretty broad way. I think it's the energy. I think the energy brings. I think we talk about Russo all the time. And I think radio a lot of time has a lot to do with energy. It has to be sincere energy, right? Like Chris Russo is missing a screw, but it's a good screw to be missing for radio. McAfee. There's just an energy. It's his friends, which I always say when people make pairings. You can't just put somebody with their friends always. But you're just gonna have a better conversation. We're gonna have a better we know each other, you know, we've never worked together, but now we've talked enough on off the air. We have a rapport. It's gonna be a better podcast because we kind of know I know where you're gonna go kind of know where I can teach you, you can tease me, you know, that type of stuff. And so I think the main reason his stuff works real well is that energy that that show has. Yeah, for sure. You mentioned Russo, we're taping this a little bit after his first official episode of first take with Stephen a every Wednesday aired. I'm still coming off the high. I couldn't even believe how good it was. I seem like an obvious win. When they did it the first time, when you go way back when I guess skip left, Stephen a wanted Russo to be the full-time co host. That was one of the people. At least on his list, I'm not saying that was the number one on his list. Adam Sean, I think it was another guy he had interest in. And it didn't happen, of course. But this seems like, and I don't know 5 days a week, maybe it'd be great. There's two lunatics that's going at it. It's an art form. It's not, who cares what they say. You are tweeting all the social. It's not what they say. It's just right. You know, I mean, doggie, again, we grew up on like literally we grew up 89. I don't know how old you are exactly. Jimmy, but 89, I mean, I'm 15 years old, or 87, I get to start. So I'm 13 years old when fans start and Kirsten Mike kind of came in real quick. So you kind of grow up on them. So to hear the doggy isms, you know, he even, what do you say, life on the line? Flat as a pancake. Maybe even said life on a line of Steven a and like he brought up Kirk Cousins better than dak Prescott it was really fun. Exactly. So it's just he just has a sense. And he also has this thing of doing of like, which is so enjoyable. He doesn't like in an argument, he'll just say names like he's doing like they were doing the Dodgers and the Lakers comparing who's more popular in LA and he just said Vince Molly Sandy Koufax. Has nothing to do with the argument. Oh my God. That was one of the clips I tweeted. He said scenario 50. I said on Twitter recently that I'm going to start a Twitter account just dedicated to all the times he uses the word scenario, which never make any sense. He got to do a thing to the tribe called quest song..

"Yeah, again, I mean, it's a completely different team. And it's been rare that the bruins have not had those two not on the ice together. It's been a long time. I can't even remember the last time that they were out for an extended stretch of time. And you're seeing, again, bergeron retires, you got so limited down the middle. And you know, again, Martian is not retiring anytime soon he's not pulling an Aaron Donald, which the Aaron Donald stuff was interesting. I had not heard about the retirement stuff. Before the game and then Rodney Harrison just kind of dropped it in the free game. Yeah, no big deal. And then it was talked about a little before the game I like Michelle to fly on the sideline and it's like, was this like do people talk about this before? Did it just like spawn? And now he's like potentially retiring. So none of that with Martian that we know of. So he'll be around for quite a bit. But again, it kind of hits at this like, you need both. And I don't think that, you know, let's say bergeron does retire after the season. What do you have with marchand? Like Marsha has a great play driver, same with pasta or not, but you need that legit number one center and you don't have it. You do not have it. Outside of bergeron. So it comes down to again, that's why this deadline could be one of the most important that the bruins have had in years, which we say every year, but I really mean it this year. This could have a lot longer to 2023. It would be the same thing, but honestly, considering what the window is. Yeah, every year going forward for any more important in terms of charting out the future because we've said it before. I don't think this team is going to sell or are they going to completely blow things up. And again, I think you look at the state of this team. Can you really blow things up completely anyway? There's people who talk about they should just trade everyone and all of a sudden get into the sweepstakes for the dad sweepstakes. No, I think the floor of this team is also too high that even if you like bergeron retires and you try to sell off tradable assets like the brush, Craig Smith, all these other guys, they're still not at that tier where you're hovering with Montreal and Arizona. We are going to have a viable chance. Maybe you get the.

"It was tied up and the titans declined a ten second runoff and instead took time out which gave seattle ten seconds more with the ball to go down the field. Those mistakes bother me more than saying and the announcers never mentioned it. That's lofton's got mentioned. That i report rico's very good at that stuff game so closely. I mean i've always known miss but there are a couple of times. He brought up some really good points and count is great. He's very excitable. He does a great job calling the games but lofton needed to mention that they didn't mention it at all. That bothers me more than someone getting. A guy's name wrong like that's going to happen. Again telecast god's people who love god's i'm not the you disgusting guy not against gus but i'm not necessarily the get the pom-poms out for gusts i. I would say you know when he did the tournament. It was a tie game a minute thirty. And he's saying they should foul and reggie miller is like no no no. You can't foudy crazy. "They're not watching your late night. Now obviously you watch anything whenever you told him. The johnny stuff now is clearly. Johnny seem to be one person. Tv in one person. Not on tv and well. Yeah for sure. There are a couple of things i mean. We all know that joan rivers story And you know it's one of those things that like. I don't blame johnny. Maybe for being pissed that he never got a phone call. But how do you hold that grudge for your whole life at some point. You got to move on johnny carson. Look she handled that really poorly. Johnny had made her career really at made her career. But i don't want interrupt. I don't but one of the fascinating parts of the series which i want listeners. To know is. There's a clip of john river saying that an nbc executive had told her she'll never ever be the hotel owned by a guest host. So you get it from her standpoint and why she wants to jump ship you gotta let johnny. No you're jumping ship. Frankly i knowing the situation knowing the people involved if jones sent him johnny. I'm not going to get this. But i have this offer from fox. That's a lot of money. Johnny would say you gotta go with that. That's for your career. You gotta go with but to do it without telling john he just was personally offended. Get a personal relationship with her and personally offended did he. Overtly town guests. Don't go on the show i. I've never heard that it was former like that. But everyone knew he was completely pissed her cut off and then they said. Well i'm not gonna josiah arabi day johnny that so it really hunts once. She loses her fox show and then her husband commits suicide. Like the can johnny make a phone call and patch it up just from a standpoint. Forget late night. Tv you know yeah. I agree that it makes it. I have to tell you my fellow sector very emotional. That just does not just with. Melissa rivers the daughter but the scene would joan comes on jimmy fallon Yeah yeah yeah just get on the carson. Show get on. nope show. Didn't get leno ever during his entire run. And she didn't get on with conan ever she was banned from nbc. Nevermind garcia was really emotional and only be heading on the. Cbs show for a long time. He he ended up having her on a lot in the later years. But i think when i got there it in have iran really well it was a it was a big black more for people in the business that she had pulled a move that they just didn't think was right. But you know. I have a feeling and i'm not a guy says misogyny determines everything but i have a feeling guide. Pull this move. let's face it. Jay was accused of all kinds of various stuff right going around days but he didn't. He wasn't banned from things like that. It really was pretty extreme for revenue. Oh god i just had a thought about the joan and it went right outta my head. Oh with letterman is a great if anyone hasn't seen it. There's a great clip of joan rivers on letterman from one of his last couple of years on. Cbs where she says some joke and he just walks off in a joking way and then she does like an interview with herself and the woman. That point is probably like seventy. I mean it was amazing to see. Yeah on on tv. The johnny. I found interesting. Maybe shed some light on this. He wanted dave to take the twelve thirty show. And johnny created the twelve thirty show and it was all in his contract. He gets to create it so he got a theme..

"The j. dave thing was always like i said love the late shift Yes thank you. So i was always under the assumption that nbc chose jay leno place. Johnny instead of david letterman. Just because of dave sense of humor. Acerbic personality obviously wasn't in love with Network executives what we learned in the in the documentary. It might have been in the late shift. And i may. I may have just gotten it whenever. Nbc had negotiated contract with leno. while carson was still hosts. There was a clause in there that leno gets the tonight show only the last on the the the they put the last not not up to and what was amazing about it was it was only. I think nine days before. Johnny announced that he was stepping down that they renewed j. as the guest os and put the clause in there not knowing it was going to come into effect so gave them no chance to go to letterman and set this in motion in any way so my question is did nobody know that. That clause was in jay leno's contract in terms of media in terms of dave johnny. Did nobody know that. Until i wrote my book. Nobody knew nobody knew it was. It was completely done in secret. Because letterman thought. He still had a chance he could fight for by for the show. He had no idea no chance whatsoever. And what what. The documentary didn't fully capture when his producer. Robert morton tells the story of nbc's people coming to dave to explain today. They want wanted to stay. The woman's day. Dave gets up and walks talked about walking out meeting but he stood up and he said gentlemen. This is completely unacceptable to me and walked out but he he was for nothing. He couldn't do a thing he boxed in however and you'll remember this in the next episode. There was a last minute potential rearrangement because nbc was not totally sold on jay and they were really afraid. Dave leaving and going to cbs. Because no competitor had ever taken a franchise to a challenging position tonight show and he was the guy capable of doing it then. Obviously it's famously known. The dave wanted the tonight show. Do you think. Dave did. They want the tonight show. Did he want to be on eleven thirty or did he wanted to be the interplay. Johnny because johnny was what was the attract the most attractive for days. It was clearly that he had grown up as the tonight. Show being the franchise. That's the late night franchise. And when he started he developed a relationship with carson carson obviously liked dave he he was not a fan of j..

I know we're going to the streaming world and people probably know wednesday night. Aren't watching the braves and cardinals on. Espn but you know. I think baseball could use any exposure can get. I think that that sort of not a great deal there for mlb wanted to be on espn during the worst. You're saying but let me ask you a question jimmy you doing it. I don't go. when's the last time you watched A game on. Espn during the week. You're always watching the yankees. Well right and he was the yankees are on. Espn watch espn broadcast. I will because the beautiful thing i got into this with a rich eisen last week about streaming and all this. That's the beautiful thing is you can flip around. I mean yeah. I'll watch the yankees. But in between innings or when a pitcher taking five hours in between pitches i can flip over to his pin. And if you know mike trout. Is that bad or if you know some guys throwing a shutout maybe tune in but yet is it appointment. Viewing no my sitting there at seven o'clock first pitch on espn wednesday night. Now i get why. Espn did it from the standpoint of you know who's watching these games but also the flip side of that though is you know. Espn is in the content business. And there's still nothing better than sort of live sports to fill some content. So i don't know maybe they couldn't work out a price. Mlb or something. but again. When i saw the news. I didn't think of it from the espn's then point might thing is for major league baseball. Not great that you know. I could and the other point i would make though and there's a larger point jimmy and you've said on twitter i don't wanna say you're not that old that you've said all you look where the where the habit of younger people are going. And you mentioned the mike trout at that. Well what they would rather young people do is they..

"It's easy for us to discuss a lot of times than to figure out all the contract because you know these jobs come up that often so i don't make work just interrupt you real quick and plus he also does the nets. They both do the nfl there. There are logistical things. Involved as well with those guys because you have to figure that out but you hire the best person like if you're turner you're not waiting around you say well who's the best person for the job. Make out the best and we're not going to have to worry about it for as long as we have this package. I think that's the person you choose. Not that'd be me because and that's all like throw it. I think it's definitely i look. Y'all respect to brian follett. Play by blair. I to me. It's a little nuts that he'd be the league play by player On the nba. For turner when you have those other accu- said he's been doing it since he was twenty two. I don't know how long i- needles in the nets person. But i think it's at least a quarter century time though you know. It has long time. He's been doing this. Twenty and writers has been doing some nba. But it just feel you get with games with those two. Like i need stronger Not only the hit the bigger calls but he's stronger in terms of the by play with analysts and. I don't think it's a coincidence when you look at the nets analyst why they all become national analyst. Even more jackson failed at espn when t. Yes with an eagle producers. And john kelly. Up top and frank race On on their game and elevated him and then more jackson has been a perennial doing the finals for years and years. I don't think that was a coincidence. How that happened. So i just thought that'd be me but i you know the case for every every point you make is fair and legit i think i n encarta harlan are like a one one as situation and i found interesting is that and again. It goes back to what you said earlier about. You know how you use social media. Sorta judge these things i mean. I was surprised because normally people already just pounds and shit all over you and you posted on twitter. And i think it was ninety eight and a half percent in favor of what i wrote on tuesday dot com about. Harlan should get the job. That's rare for twitter. I mean usually you know there were like one or to people who are like. Oh he just screams the whole game. But i i was taken aback by how many people were like. This is the only choice because most people on there just wanna be vicious. Twitter does not usually agree with anything that is good For harling hardly at all so he does well on like social with those quick calls and if you listen to a whole game and the the in the that's where i think harline as strong nothing that he's not as good As eagle is when you compare them during the whole game and and humor and things that come along with it that you know. We've the know i'm in the east so we've seen eagle on the nets for years and years so obviously you get more of a feel for you know when you watch more but that's where i'd say that differences on so you know i-in eagles call one the other day with the nets Where was go viral. I think he was trending. Maybe and So like if it's a it's a good..

"Your host jim china. Thanks so much for listening very show today to gas. I and marshon sports media columnist from the new york. Post talk about latest sports media. News including laura. Albert's retirement. What happened with chris. Webber in tnt Nfl schedule stuff and Kenny mayne and parting ways and a bunch of other topics with andrew and following andrew. If you're into late night Especially if you were into late i during the letterman leno johnny carson as a great docu series currently going on. Cnn called the story of late. Night bill carter is the executive producer and he was a new york times Media critic for long time he he's on the show to talk about the history of late night. Tv really enjoyed it So that comes after andrew marchant forget to it just a reminder if you missed any episodes last week rich eisen allen suphan wall on the pod two weeks ago. Ryen russillo and brian. Baumgartner so if you missed them check them out the archives and if you can subscribe that helps tremendously and also rate and review. Here's a andrew. Marshall kick off this week show joining me now as media. Podcast regular post columnist reporter covers sports media better than anyone lot to talk about andrew marsh andrew. How's it going. I'm good thanks. Jamie grab my pleasure. Lots been going on here. I wanna get into all. We've we gotta get to marv. Retiring and the chris webber situation so there's a lock on tnt. I'm going to start with something though. A little in the weeds might turn some people off. But i need to know what's going on and you're so. Yeah so maybe you can explain it for sports fans listening. What do sports fans need to know about the merger between one and discovery. Plus how will we be affected. Yeah in the time being not that much It really won't affect you because first off it's gonna take a year and a half for to go through so i was gonna take a long time before it actually goes through and It seems like the regulatory system will probably let it go through. But you never know So that's number one number two. How does it impact. You will eventually a. Could you could see the combination of discovery and hbo max coming together which for example hockey Eventually as far their tnt deal have an extension onto hbo max and so so for example with something like that you might be getting Some hockey with your subscription. But but you can see where that's going and that builds out Where you know direct to consumer becomes a bigger part of you know domestic sports in the us becomes a bigger part of their packaging discoveries. Big internationally in sports So so that's where it is that in the near term i don't really think that much because turner's already locked up The major rights baseball and then now hockey they already have the nba and so i in near-term not that much and don't forget awa wrestling those big announcement. Now that it's moving from tnt. Two tbs added another show on friday. So it's doing well for that company so to player in the turner world for sure..
