"So the last year i mean was that the last straw for anybody like if you didn't like police before you probably don't like him now. I don't think there's somebody out there that it's like. Oh i'm i'm a big governor polls fan hall is try to take away meat for a day. I hate him. I don't think that that happened. I think that this was just more of a divisive movement and there were a couple of people that they talked to That said they would. They would have been more in favor of more of a positive proclamation of veggie in day right of meat out because that promotes the eating of vegetables that promotes eating of Of diverse diet putting attack on anything else not not shaming anybody. Free eating meat on a day. So that's what i find interesting and and look hickenlooper. Did this back in twenty eleven and no it was. It was not met with this sort of resistance. I think there's a law that you can take away from it Well welcome commissioner lori. Saine says in his proclamation. The governor could have celebrated food choice in this diverse state and highlight of the colorado grown staples such as millet. I key now a black beans and make vegan burgers and other meatless products saint said instead. He referred that an essential part of our weld. Agricultural industry is cruel unhealthy and unsafe for the environment. She also challenged governor police to brisk cook off now. That would be something. I would sit there. And i would broadcast that at and it'd be like four hours of me saying they're just staring each other down now. They're waiting on the risk to cook there staring each other down. Where are we sitting right now with with the snowpack in the mountains. Oh kinda roughly been kind of dancing around ninety percentile or so Throughout much of the month we'll see that kind of fluctuate by two or three percentage points over the last several days and going forward this week but yeah we're kind of hovering around that ninety percent mark statewide and in for our base in the south platte basin. And we're right around average in and then what will be factored in with today's moisture. That'll be factored in In today's numbers and tomorrow's and that'll keep us right around right around average right around one hundred percent. Were you expecting to be about that. Or is that higher than you're expecting For this month that's about where we would think it would be Because february was beneficial And then once we saw that big you know the big storm of last week in kind of move it in Then we knew. Hey that's going to boost this base and up a lot. I guess some of us probably figured it would get one. Oh five to one hundred and ten percent of average after that big march Dorm you know not not this weekend but last weekend But some of those higher totals in the mountains didn't pan out. "It's colorado forgiveness right. And and i think that i think this is again something that we're seeing in a in a normal time in a normal year maybe wouldn't have been pushed as hard but people are frustrated at decisions that have been made and and i think that you know rural colorado feels felt like That was It was another attack on the agriculture industry. But this i think. Chris and i want to get your thoughts on this i think. This highlights the rural urban. Divide that we're seeing in colorado right now. There's a there's a clear division in the state. That is ben. It has been challenging for a number of years where you have sort of the urban centers of the state for collins denver colorado springs. And then you have sort of the more rural aspect of the state and let's be honest. The rural aspect of the state has been here longer than the cities. And so there's this natural divide between the two sides because they look at the world. We all look at the world differently depending on where we live. And that's that's going to have problems. This is not going to go away In in the near future and the challenges that it's a population thing there's just there's more people that live in cities these days particularly these these days and because of that the population that the power shift the power dynamic government inevitably changes and it makes people who are in the world center of colorado so to say. Hey what about us and yeah absolutely. Decisions are being made in denver every day that impact. Everyone and i think it's beneficial for people in denver to make decisions based upon. Hey i should be aware of what. I'm also doing. Not just the people in denver but to Folks who don't live in denver and that type of thing and and so there's a there's a fundamental misunderstanding rural colorado and. I think that's cheap so for the billion dollar question here chris. How do you fix it. I don't know. I mean that's a great question. I think this is going to be a challenge moving forward. I think i mean that's it's now it's no surprise where you see every once in a while this sort of effort to break free from colorado and sort of make your own state and become part of wyoming whatever it shows that. There's there's a level of dissatisfaction in anger but at the same time as we find out it's done process to do it's a very challenging process to do at the same time we just have to sort of live with it and i you know i wish that the last year that we would have we would have a sort of viewed this sort of worldwide. Pandemic has an opportunity to come together..

And this year when you really didn't know how everyone was going to do because there's been so insular teams have been playing into their own conference for such a long time. It was really an unknown. "Loved it though. This is the good stuff. This is the good stuff. Well anyway. i've been. We appreciate it. Bob schaffer check in with us on this bill This is the one that Is going to cause an immense amount of trouble. I believe in the school systems This is senate. Bill one eighty two. It's got a good concern for the well-being especially minority kids but on the other hand. I think sometimes we're we're trying to solve the problem. The wrong way I think bob schaefer pointed that out as we were talking to him a little bit ago but back to this bill just for a minute. This is thirty pages of legislation that has quite a voluminous piece of legislation. And you know what happens after they finish passing legislation like this then the people in the regulatory agencies especially in this case the education folks are gonna go to work and they're going to start writing regulations. I've seen ten twenty thirty pages of regulations written from a one page bill The in i haven't seen the fiscal note but this things got to cost a lot of money. Okay well let me move on. I wanted to spend a little bit of time this morning on a probably already out of it already. Because there is a controversy. Right here in greeley about the terry rich project. This has to do with water it has to do with an aquifer that exists up around the terry ranch property. It's up on the wyoming border. The actual ranch dead is in wyoming. Just right on the border. Literally and durant extends down into weld county there is an aquifer down there that has an incredible amount of water in it and there are some people who are opposed to going after that water and buying that water one of the opposition Folks i heard say because there is uranium in that water that can be through treatment safely removed from the water. He said but it's expensive and that's probably true. But here's the problem. Water in northern colorado is expensive period whether you have to treat it to take uranium out just to buy it if it was the freshest most pure water in the whole wide world. It's still expensive and in putting this project together. I think what the folks greeley here are. Trying to do is admirable. They're trying to make sure there's enough water for this community as it grows we. We've seen some pretty meteoric growth here in northern colorado over the past twenty years especially greeley's exception. All of the towns are booming in towns didn't even literally exist as much of anything back twenty five years ago have suddenly just bloomed into huge communities. I'm talking about timothy. Timothy used to be this little backwater in larimer county right very close to the weld line. They didn't even have sewer system there thirty years ago. Not they were on septic out there and wells now. It's they've got water tower. They got water. They got sewer. They got it all. And it's one of the fastest growing areas in northern colorado. Tim north beyond that. We've got severance. It's booming greeley's growing for collins is growing but not too fast because they're gonna landlocked there They can grow out by the brewery. But that's about it. Everything else is pretty. Well already built Yeah well. I just hope that the folks that are in favor of this as i. Am this ranch. Kind of ingenious you take an aquifer you take the water out once you get the water out and you use it then you put fresh water in it and use it as a storage place. One of the biggest problems with storing water is evaporation. It's evaporate it's underground it may seep in a little bit. But it wouldn't be there. That wasn't a fairly secure. Aquifer doesn't leak already all right. Well we got some other things. But i i'm sure riot is in their stump chomping at the bit. I've got to take a breath. take a breath. i need to tell you. We're coming to you from the auto collision specialist studios northern colorado's voice thirteen ten. Kfi am john clark in jail while the all sports story in northern colorado state in the country tune into the hall show weekdays noon to two thirteen ten. But i i think it's too warm in what hit never did accumulate a snow but by golly we need the moisture so it's all good. There is a big brouhaha going on over in fort collins. I it's got to do with hughes stadium and property that surrounds the non existent because it's been torn down hugh stadium As you know see. You built an on campus stadium. And then that the stadium they'd been using for years and years and years out by Horse reservoir Just at the bottom of the hog back in fact as empty and so there was a deal between colorado state university and leonard homes learner. Homes was going to give them a ten million dollars for the property in it was contingent upon the city of fort collins. Zoning it for different types of housing there was supposed to be some Residential some commercial mainly residential but different levels of residential even some affordable housing in that mix of what they did some open space. Well the people that live out in that area and that's probably not totally accurate to say but but mainly people in that area With the support of others who wanna see that stay as open space Have put an issue on the ballot. It's a citizen.
