Cathy Horyn on Why Fashion Media Must Evolve

"Ala Kathy. I'm good you. You're in Virginia. Farm. Yeah. You're Minova Farm in Virginia and made avail in. London. and. Roundabout now could be looking forward to seeing each other at fashion shows as we have done for the last. How many years? We. Want to exit. Thirty five. Something, like Nineteen eighty-seven age is not. About you were at the Detroit repress. Short News. used. And I was limited. From magazine in Canada in Toronto Canada. And we could never have anticipated what's happened to the world because? We read about things like this in history and And you know industry is being so savagely impacted. By everything that's happened and it's it's great that we're talking today because I subscribe to new magazine. you write for the. Your magazine and you've just done this enormous piece interviewing designers about the here and now their lives and. The future of the industry, and that's exactly what was supposed to be talking about today. So that's put certain. I can say to you. Tell us what you've been doing with. China's for the last. Well it started out. You Know Stella Buckby at runs the cut we were talking in now late April I think about like what do we WANNA do? For All this book Ended up being part of the. The main magazine in the preview section of what's happening in the fall. But anyway, we started talking about that and I said, you know I really just I want to talk to the the leading designers you know the the big creative minds and. Where we sort of going I, mean, it just feels different even now and I think about how we all felt what on March second and March third when we were still in Paris in winding up with. No the Balenciaga show in the retail show the last days and felt so innocent but then it felt quite different by the end of April. With Europe. All shutdown down the US at least New York Shutdown So, anyway, everybody you know it's it's Raff Simmons Marc Jacobs. Nikola just gear Mutya Rico Kuba. There's there's twelve or thirteen, and all and Everybody was home. So I had lots of time to talk to them, and they had lots of time and we talked in some cases, three times over the summer or rejects dinner we had emails that kind of thing. So it was fun. Now was there a consensus? Among people what the future holds I think you have a different view specifically of how people want will probably want address. Some bring that up pretty clearly like mmj at. I think a lot of people are really concerned You know the the. What's going on with the fashion system people have been talking about that at Nauseam for a while. So that came up a lot RAFF had a lot to say about that I think they certainly spent the month of March and April thinking a lot about this Marc Jacobs a lot and he put some of that up on Instagram to. You know coming off at incredible show that he did in February in New York and just thinking and you know he he had to lay off people on his designed team and others had take salary cuts. That the problem across the industry. And so they were talking a lot about that, and then of course, Allesandro from Goodie. Brought his his instagram out a one was mid may saying we're GONNA go to two meetings to to runway shows a year. So I think a lot of the stuff has been brewing. Yeah, and the bottom line is I, mean to me. I think it comes through in the pieces. It's all an individual choice. You know like you know Michael Kors has made his decision. What he's GonNa do I think Gucci's made their decision to Michael Burke for this piece is the CEO of Vitale and you know. They're gonNA. You know he thinks that the traveling runway shows the future. So all that concerned about you know how big the shows I think I think in the long run we'll see a I mean in the short run will see. Pause, as as we as we deal with the pandemic and we don't know what quite the end game is on that. So I think we've seen a lot of experimentation in the last six weeks two months with digital perform digital shows and presentations and. I think going forward. You know you know it's a huge industry i. think that's the thing is bleak as it seems is a huge industry.

Beauty Business News: Forvr Mood, Patrick Starr, Fenty Skin and More

"That's quite a lot of news which is very exciting and a lot of business news, which is like super-duper. Going, on in a start with three really good business news like news, the three business news it was the new news is three new launches, which is Yup. I'm dead excited about I. One I feel like this has been coming forever and ever and ever and people are excited is Jackie. Aina has announced her brand is coming out. And it's called forever mood. It's the forever moon. It's very exciting I. Feel like this is just writing. That's been talked about forever. She's been teasing it for whatever and it feels like it's finally finally coming. There's not much to say at the minute apart from that skull forever mood. There's no e in the forever. It's just F. O.. V are. Because at night stylized we like it. But as soon as we got more information on that, we will share it. Yep and second launch, which again excited, and they've just announced the first U. products in this range, which I did not see coming. And this is the Patrick Star one size launch? so He's been teasing again for awhile. He's been teasing on his youtube videos getting people to get viewers to send them little videos of them. Saying like bt is a one-size-fits-all turns out right because it is brand is called wants is. The way is this program to stop beauty. So this is just so. You're thinking of Patrick Tar beauty. And Onto Patrick. And you know it says on this podcast. Confuse those two people I am not how? How dare I say moment? Names of very similar. I'm Marilyn up by twenty ounces. Early sat in a restaurant with two that you would I know often jess and Her friend who worked for LEMAIRE and they were. Running an event with Patrick tar and they were talking about Oh. Yeah, as I fear on the plane, he should be here any minute and I was like no I've just seen him on instagram. He's like in Hawaii and they were like. On. A beauty Jeddah's like this is why I think we have to change my name to unprofessional. In front of me of to. Supposed to know a whole podcast audience, but like they know. I mean I'm not I'm great with faces, names and they've faces a very different, so you would have been dying. This is Patrick saw our because. And yet his brand, one size, and it's going to be in Sephora for the initial lawn. We'll know more about where it's going to be internationally as we go on on the first two brands that have been at first you products are either have been announced the go off makeup, dissolving missed and the go off makeup remover wipes. Okay so skin, cal skincare, but definitely make up remover. I think you have indicated this. Yeah they. Edged into skin care, but it was with an eye makeup removal rather than clothing, which is in an interesting extension of the cleansing category as the crossover between cleansing a makeup. Cleanser it's makeup remover. I'm on the fence about you need. Make remove I guess if you wearing a lot of makeup, you do it. These I always find those mists and the makeup remover sprays fascinating how they work I don't stand there. Witchcraft you spray on in your whole face melts off like Indiana. Jones like death becomes her. It's totally mad. The interest to see what else is coming. The packaging is gorgeous. It's all is bright metallic read. It reminds me a little bit of. So. Body sprays from the ninety S. Yes, I remember. Like a metallic red spotty red packaging. That looks really cool. We'll see welcome to come I did a bit of background research on this, and it's because I always brand. That's come from Sephora like Marc Jacobs yet. Betty itself actually. And it's not. It's coming from an incubation group called luxury brand partners, and a also look after Smith and colts. That's where it's myth and cult came from the nail Polish brand, and they were the money behind Becker before they sold Bekker's trae lording. Yes, so CEO was a form of Becca CEO. So. They've got a lot of. Beauty expertise in the gang. Interesting an interesting. Yeah it's going straight into Sephora and it's not a Sephora incubated. Brandon's competes brand. One come from luxury brand partners, so yes, since we get more news on one size, we'll let you know and then the other news, which is hot off the presses Hof. scold inch. Is Fantasy. Skin has just been announced. Again thinking about it and my head I was like wait. Not already accessible I'm like no, no, it doesn't. That's going to be exciting. July thirty first on skin dot com, even going on anti-beauty is is entirely its own thing. While I kind of like the savage frontier. The extensions like it's going to be like in separating. What's interesting? Really really interesting I'm curious as to see how that's going to go i. don't know what the product is going to be. It's literally just dropped as a logo an. Yes, so no more will no more and the last piece of Christmas. News we want to mention is. We had a big pre compensation. We had a meeting about the yes. About this one. I think it's an important piece of news share. Without necessarily getting into our personal thoughts and feelings on it, because we have and that's for another time. MORPHE- have ended their relationship with Jeffrey medics, which is huge news huge, yeah! I think that's going to be. Lots of people talking about your Fisher. Of. Discussion and debate as to what his involvement was with Morpheus. A company is whether or not he owned of more viewers investors like the. It was quite unclench. But what we do for sure is. He is a massive massive revenue driver form OFI, so it's a huge step for them to terminate that relationship and out that of his supply chain, so think is, it's jeopardy. Saw Cosmetics Company. Yet the company, so I mean interesting. We'll see what happens with morphine now where they go. Yeah, but just a business news

Marc Jacobs: I Still Have Stories to Tell

"Mental Health Awareness Week and last week on Bureau F. Live our editor at large Tim. Blanks spoke to the celebrated American designer. Marc Jacobs who touched on a variety of topics from working through the krona virus crisis and maintaining his creativity but also on how the crisis is impacting his own mental health at this time of anxiety and stress for people around the world. Here's Mark Jacobs inside fashion. Hi Tam I'm such a pleasure to see it today. It's always a pleasure to see you. Tim and this will be out conversation for the next few seasons. I guess because we want you seeing each other in well who knows who knows where I am. I am in New York City in my hotel room in Soho Talking to you you've seen in a hotel rooms for the whole luck. Yes yes yes has that been. It's been let's let's put it this way. I'm grateful to be in a place where I'm comfortable. I'm going to start under the start on the. I'm going to start this chat on a positive note. So what have to keep going back to my mind is that I am grateful. I have my two dogs with me. I have clean made bed that I made this morning. I have what I need. I've got a closet full of clothes that I can play with. Have got a couple of makeup bags that I can play with. I have my iphone and my ipad which connect to other people with and I have the where I can sit outside and get some air so I am very grateful that I'm comfortable today and I feel like I'm taking care of and obviously you confidently connect with people. I'm finding. I'm actually connecting with people more than I usually do because quoting about connecting with now. But I have well. It's a strange thing. Isn't it connection? Because I never really I think of this as a type of connection and I we can use these devices of hours to connect with people in some superficial way or in some way that's different but I'm a luddite and I believe in live contact. I believe in note writing letter writing. I believe in seeing people across the dinner table or having a coffee with them I see. I don't see I didn't grow up with life on the screen and I didn't grow up with cell phone in my hand at or or night at or nih-funded whatever and I like live performance in live theater and I liked. I like going into shops. I like seeing people on streets so while this is some form of connection. It certainly. I don't have any kind of real connection to this form of connection. So but how how? How does this thing for you then? Well it's a kind of a kind of goes in waves and spurts. I mean they're I'm very sort of manic depressive. In a way I mean I am you know. My mental health goes from mania to depression. So there are days where I just feel extremely depressed and feel like it's the end of the world. And then your days were mannequin. I just think what a great opportunity for us all to learn collectively from this and move forward and then there's all the grays in between but I mean I tend to go from the basement to attic in five seconds. You know like In terms of emotions and so it's been very hard because I also not really in control of how you feel. You know the ceilings common. It's just a question of how I kind of accept them and and sort of you know honor them etc. So so I've had moments of feeling very productive and creative and moments feeling just like what's it all sore or is that all there is as I keep saying the south. You Camilla Louder. You have exactly. Isn't it funny? How life comes along to trip up those kind of those little notions and give them a sort of real time white. Will you see it's this? It's this computer right here. That fascinates me the most. And that's what I think is always this kind of amazing thing. I have this kind of faulty computer. Which is my brain and it's not faulty in the sense that it doesn't work but it just kind of works as it does right and so. I mean for absolutely no apparent reason. I could do everything I did yesterday. And Go to sleep on time and wake up on time and have my vitamins draped might juices for some reason the Sun could be shining and I can have the most miserable attitude about life and see things through the darkest leads and then I could stay up all night and and and not drink juices not my vitamins and like the sun isn't shining and I'm just like full of hope and you know like so who knows and then yes they're like these songs that comes my head in these things. I've seen in these performances. I know I don't know like books I've read and you know I don't. I'm not in charge of where the where where my brain sort of fires on a particular day but like it just doesn't it and it's like kind of fascinating as kind of goes through all of its little find sub dreaming a lot more. I have some very weird dreams but I've always had weird dreams that I've always been a bit of an insomniac because apparently that's a that's a huge side effect of this pandemic. Is People a happen. Incredible Dreaming Nkala at a lot about real people like either family members will celebrities or whatever but that they remember the dreams full of almost movie. And that's by to pick this. That people can depend up in the daytime and then the minds slowed us. I don't think that I'm dreaming more than I was before. And I think my dreams are kind of still of the crazy surreal content that they always work which combines a little bit of like the tape recorder you know things I've just recently heard but then then concocted into something that might have some other greater meaning but No I find my dreaming kind of the same. I guess you're making a movie while you yeah so via via recommended. I mean she. She had this idea. Unfortunately it was like four weeks in she was like. Oh you should have taped yourself every day. Like just videotaped yourself every day like you had this like you know daily journal like on tape like everything you did just like this endless documentary journal and I was like well if I had started it for weeks ago. It would have been great because we're already for weeks in if feels that will have to do something else. So so nick My friend my best friend and and someone I work with very closely you know at. Marc Jacobs He he and I came up. And we decided we'd do more of a fairy tale like this this kind of life in quarantine more of an louise or a you know like or a home alone or something like that right played all the characters who would normally be here at the hotel but or not like what kind of well everything from the porter to the manager to the chef in the restaurant to the housekeeping to the engineer to the different people who are residing in the hotel to the different things. I do in my room on different occasion to me documenting my set like just just just like I never any element of the other look creeping in. No just just just anything. I can do within the confines of this hotel. Your instagram is being incredibly vivid. The whole time that you've seen in Lucca. It seals almost like you are testing out characters in well. I'm not really I'm I'm kind of just you know I've always been this way. This is like this is nine year old mark who you always was in his bedroom. Escaping chaos of what life looked like you know like a very disturbed and dysfunctional childhood. And I went to my room and I sat with my clothes and I painted my jeans or embroidered. Jean Jacket and I put on my outfits. I comb my hair one way or the other and you know maybe I found a curler for my mother curled by whatever it was but that nine year old kid that me was like a in his own world in his bedroom and had to use his imagination to create a world. That was a happier place. And that's kind of what I'm doing I mean. I have two months worth of clothes that I packed to move in here. I'm I have a couple of bags of of makeup. That randomly for some reason felt were important to take with me and And then you know just and the dogs and Some hairclips jewelry and I'm just playing around and and keeping myself entertained and and doing what I do which I think is taking care of my mental health. I mean I have to get up everyday and shower and I have to Rome and I have to get dressed and I I just feel like not only do I have to do it for my sanity but like I enjoy doing it. So it gives me pleasure and it allows me to kind of be of service in some way. Because if I'm not well. In taking care of myself creatively and in every other way then. I'm of no use to anybody else. I mean I just can't lie an unmade bed all day long. It's the most pressing thing I've I mean. I used to see my mother who suffered from manic depression. She wouldn't get out of her bed sometimes for weeks and her bed was never made and the site of an unmade bed to be as just about the most horrifying thing. I can remember.

"Moment. Yeah. Wayne into ten. Clarity today. Feeling. This is the one that makes you the happiest like it. Every time you smile, we hear it. You know, why? Because we may have said it out loud. But we've had those thoughts relationships. That's why he's like, okay. Oh, you mad because I didn't come home. All. All. I was thinking my friends. And now you want me, man. Okay. You thinking only. Oh, your top z getting some traction, I wanna testify. Try Gardena on the sprint pills. Well did morning men will how are you? Good morning morning lodge. Good morning tea. Mr granderson. Hey last week, the Reverend Al green, God bless them. Why don't you guys do rendition to Compton native Brenton would please one of these days? And I was also thinking about Harold Melvin the other half of the blue note with when you guys were bumping that. But hey, everybody at tops. Top ten list. Glaring omission. First off mad TV man spawned. A Bobby Lee guy named Mike McDonald not a now. But the other another cat and then Kelly Endo Frank Kellyanne, oh came from that show that show was very underrated ramp about eight years on FOX. "I know. It's always my favorite category. I have to look up. I don't actually even know what my product is called. But I've been used it last night before your birthday dinner, and it was so good. God something I've been loving lately. Are the Marc Jacobs eye shadows? The individual. Same. They're using them. Yeah. They sit one to me forever ago. And then I bought two more. And they're the perfect, which is by the ones a little presi thing inside writes, like a black holes cat blacks. Non same paid. I know what you're talking about the big daddy eye shadows. That's big data. Yeah. I like those too. But I was thinking the pressed one they're so soft. They blend amazing. I know that they're probably a little more expensive. But I had a lot of eye shadows. I have a lot of palate in. I would rather have those three I shadowed with me forever. Then a whole bunch of other stuff that I have my favorite product as right now. I just use for the first time last night. It is the what is this brand called so Janeiro, and it's the COPA Cabana bronze glow oil. We so I've had it in my drawer forever. And then last night, we were going out to dinner for your birthday. But I wanted to look a little Tanner. I haven't gotten to spray tan in a while. And so I just threw some on. And oh my God. Well, first of all, I look like Edward Cullen sparkley still my God play so good. I've seen this at Sephora. And I've always wanted to try. It's like it out to nine nine there's five shades used wait, which one is this again. I use the bronze the COPA Cabana bronze Copacabana. And I think that they have assured I might have used samba sway or Copacabana bras, one of the two so good. I love a good spray tan, but I just like having gone, and I haven't done it on myself. No while I'm literally gonna order this right now. It's so good. We'll wait try mind first. And then see what shade you need because I have three age through all my guide, so good. If you have a spray tan use it if you don't have a spray tan, use it. It's like or use the highlighter ones on your collarbone shot up. My how to look expensive when you broke af on my YouTube channel taught me that it's really really good. I highly recommend. My god. Okay. Well, you're gonna appreciate this one. I was wearing them last night. Lilly. Lashes in Miami are so good. I'm going to be honest. I'm wearing a new pair right now or a different pair and they're not lily anymore. I've moved on. But I do love a good lily lash. They are stupid expense. They're so expensive. You can wear them like thirty times. Which is the only thing is I'm so used to when I do have lashes. I just like throw them away after like four uses five uses. So the. The first round of Lilly lashes that I use I definitely like misplaced them so much easier. So now, I ordered more. And I take way better care. You'll lash case I haven't paid cuter though, mines pouring, whatever it sign, but but I really liked that. Also, the main reason why I really really really love them is I never I used to spend easily can't spend a long time on my makeup. It's actually I shadow, but it's actually better if if you have a lashed that's a little fuller. It covers most of your like eyelid anyway, Asian my horns are covered by my last. We're now. So I've noticed when I wanna get out at the door quicker. If I do a more dramatic lash. I don't have to spend as much time on my shadow, and it still looks really really good in conjunction with a good lily lash, use the house of lashes glue. I kid you not it will change your life. I wear lashes pretty much every single dare the lash Queen highly recommended the only school that I will use duo is the worst. No, I love duo. I hate do. I love duo healing. But the the green one the the white liquid not black. I don't do. I'm just a house lashes girl through and through her saly..

"What? Anyway, I couldn't find a picture and that picture I did for Brian bone Smith. It was actually for Marc Jacobs a charity, and I did like every flag my girlfriend Kimber Becker, I love Instagram. She's amazing. She's very famous makeup artist. And she's like they asked her to do it. She's like, I don't think I have acute Heine. But I know somebody that does before big butts. Referral. I refer. She knew I was going through a divorce because I was sleeping at her house with two kids in like single bed room. I had a two year old and a six year old, and I'm like there, and she's like, oh, it's good money where you to it. I said sure for charity. It's remark Jacobs is one of the best photographers here. So I did it. And then I was looking at it. And I just really like the picture, I'm Mike, you know, what not listen, I'm like twenty or ten at least ten years older because I had the two kids Mason's now. Fifteen he was sick. So yet ten years. Yeah. So I just thought not much as changed little extra weight. But let's just do it. And so I did it just set the camera on a timer or something. No, my my friend was there like we Mike. What you take this real quick take? Two pictures. And then it's always the first picture. That's the best. That's everybody's he's gonna use the whole thing. But I do because the whole thing I showed my feet. I don't love my fate. But anyway, yeah, I mean, I wasn't mad at it. And I really you don't see anything that picture on the wall. I'm naked the one I have I have a bathing body suit on and you don't see anything. So whatever people can suck it. Areas. Also, I thought like as far as bold moves go. I was like that's pretty Bollard because like Madonna and some other celebrities like Madonna posted one and like, I don't usually tease celebrities. First of all, no, one cares about my opinion. 'cause I'm not a famous person. I don't discount yourself. No payments. People are just the same as I try not to throw shade on celebrities. Right. Like, I'm just not in the business of doing that. But I thought Madonna's was like I was like you can't do this. It was a picture from ten years ago where it looks like in both photos. The light is directly in front of her face. And the camera is all the way over exposed. So it doesn't look like a picture of her face. Okay. And she's like here's me from two thousand nine. Here's two thousand nineteen and I was like this. These are incomparable like one you look exactly the same to this doesn't make you look like still young like it just looks Super Bowl. Like, you look like a ghost alien person. Looks so weird. "William why Marc Jacobs better known as w w Jacobs this frequently and follow Janis tail first appeared in a collection of stories, titled the lady of the barge and other stories in nineteen. Oh, two Jacobs is probably most well known for his frightening little supernatural story. But he also wrote numerous nautical stories that are said to be quite amusing. This year's story was selected by a listener named Sophie who said dad, I'd like you to read us the monkey's paw. I keep seeing it represents shows. But I haven't read it. Can you read it to us? Well, yes, so fi. And thank you for listening to our Christmas special. I also wish you'd listen to smother episodes. But you know, I know you have important roadblocks role plays to do. And I certainly don't want to deflect you from your life's work. But before we get to the story. There's a few words in here that I thought I should define since they're not super common on the show. The first one is Rubicon d- that means red faced a ruddy in complexion. The next one is anti Makassar, and that's a cloth that you'd place over the top of a fabric, covered cheered to prevent stains. Makassar oil used to be a common hair tonic. So if you wanted to prevent your cheer fabric from eating Makassar oil on it, an anti Makassar was just the thing and avaricious, which means greedy are overly concerned with monetary gain. And if you can count her any other words in the story that you don't know you'll have to look them up yourself. So as Casey Kasem used to say this long distance dedication wealth up two floors goes out to Sophie. The monkey's paw by w w Jacobs one. Without the night was cold and wet, but in the small parlour of the Burnham villa? The blinds were drawn and the fire burn brightly father and son were chests, the former who possessed ideas about the game involving radical changes, putting his king into such sharp and unnecessary perils that it even provoked comment from the white haired old lady knitting placidly by the fire hawk at the wind said Mr White who having seen a fatal mistake after it was too late was amiably desirous of preventing his son from seeing it. I'm listening said the ladder. Grimly surveying the board as he stretched out his hand. Check. I should hardly think he'd come tonight said his father with his hand poised over the board. Mate, replied, the sun. That's the worst of living. So far out bald Mr White with sudden and unlooked for violence of all the basely slushy out of the way places to live in. This is the worst pathways a bug and the roads torrent, I don't know what people are thinking about I suppose because only two houses on the road or let they think it doesn't matter never mind. Dear said his wife soothingly, perhaps you'll win the next one. Mr White looked up sharply just in time to intercept a knowing glance between mother and son. The words died away on his lips and he hit a guilty grin in his thin grey beard. There. He is said Herbert white as the gate bang too loudly and heavy footsteps cames hoards the door the old man rose with hospitable. Haste an opening the door was heard condoling with the new arrival. The new arrival was also condoled with himself. So that MRs white said Tut Tut and cough, gently as her husband entered the room followed by tall burly, man. Bedia vie and rubican divis-. "So you have the aubergine in the black cherry, which is a real US P for them because they are the the Marc Jacobs ones. We those. The other day and they little bit too Bolden pigment from really I like, the I like the black cherry the blue that that are close to black with the hair not actually like predominantly green. With Jenkins has a lot of really great colors for people that are looking for colors, which is great if you want, but I have not found a Jeep if that so I wouldn't even patch. It's been twenty five dollars on that particular. But then I think imagine a world back when you were first starting out when I was doing PR cause I used to do PR from abeline. Two thousand full disclosure. I worked in an agency that did p off moving but in two thousand and two two thousand and three all those years ago. My God and everything we had for that Perry. We we worked for them on a project basis and every project we had was dreadful. We had this foundation that had a ball bearing in it. And that was the Honey we're going to say that. Yes. Shaky Chaka shocker, and they were like all communications that you might have to say shocker shocker, and I was the copywriter the agency. And I was like I can't do it on a refused to do it. And they'll let Colville Jacobs at metro and like root pitch this to her. And I'm like, no, I will not call this woman who already hates me from ever reason unless it was when I was a Margaret Argonauts press office, and then everybody light Lindsey like I'm not calling legitimate beauty journalists and saying, hey, guess what? Shocker shocker and also the foundation just wasn't very good. So it was very upsetting. That's why actually. The imagine a world back, then we're Maybelline would launch your new mascara mainland who then moved that were best known for great rush. Imagine a Woolworth added new Moscow come out, and we didn't know about it until I saw in store, I can't conceive of it. And yet that just happened, and I'm more immersed in the industry than I've ever been. And it's just the sheer volume of stuff, and maybe they're just they're just funneling money into other looney obviously going somewhere else and not sale. The thing is that's why I say about these experiences in these events, you couldn't possibly cover everything anymore. Now, I I wouldn't want to I wouldn't want to be the person who is constantly at the cutting edge of knowing what because we were talking about this earlier before we started recording it devalues things because I I don't buy a lot of beauty products. And I certainly went by expensive ones like when we went into Sephora the other day. And that's like the Pat McGrath, which I can't get very easily worth come. I get the meat. I think. Yeah. But they're expensive. And I just think no I will find something that performs on a similar to similar standard. And I will probably look before I would look to sonic or to people who I know know, those sorts of products inside out and wait for them to give the key is to which is a more foldable equivalent, which is yet because I didn't so hard no is seeing pass loads events and pass. And that's what the runs are do this event. So building onto the patient. So that you buy without thinking, you just get so caught up in the frenzy you buy as soon as it drops. Which is interesting, and I totally went off topic. Because I don't know if you've noticed slow data. I to beauty editor friends. They are beauty junkies to the mountains and the younger than me like always very motherly mothering towards them. But every time I see them. Whereas I could you stop buying Kylie and came stop. Stop paying the GT and they pay a fortune for them. But they want them the they literally will be on social media in the night..

"We are back with him Jones, and we've got Marc Jacobs here. Michelle is in here right now, but we're doing a little extra something here at drag con live in New York. This is very special for us because we usually don't do remotes like this. We usually do. We should do a normal studio, Michelle and I and here we are with these top designers, Kim Jones is now at Dior, which and you doing, do you feel when you go to these houses? Now let's to a Mark. You've done your own label but also gone to these houses. Do you fill the pressure of what the house is? You feel the need to carry on a certain dialogue or a certain silhouette or style that the house is known for into your work when you when you get in there? I like to the codes of the house somewhat with those for me, that's the most exciting thing. And it's such an amazing. Skydive is just, you know, there's so much to look up. Yeah. And you know a deal was like a gallery before he was a gallery, you know what? Many of the leading autism his time. And then you know, you'll say, became a career that so much to look after see of his life as well as just the cards to getting spot by to respect what the house means. And you know, I work for the house. That's how I it. Yeah. And and how long have you been at Dior any six months. Six months. And your first collection was just the other day? Yeah. And when you look back, it's just the other day, do you feel like you hit the Mark that you wanted to hit? I think so. I mean, it was very fast. I had two months to do this. I, you know, it was like, I'm very proud of it, and I was very happy with people seem to like it. So you know, I just, you know, you get into feeling of right. This is what I want the house to look like him people with receptive to so. You know, that made me feel happy about and you're doing Mentz. Yeah, the men's because the other, the Italian guy does the woman the talian. Oh, they all ch- changes. I can't keep up. I can't keep up with who's doing what? Who's doing who, who's zoom in. Can you? Can you keep up with sometimes preferred? Not to. Yeah. Yes, it's a choice, but when I choose to, I can. Now when you were at a Vitton, you really shook things up with you really went punk rock with that thing. It was very different. My my experience because there had never been anything in terms of ready to wear fashion accessories when I got there and you know, I went through a lot of trials and tribulations to try to figure out what would fashion look like at Louis Vitton you know, since all they were known for at that point was luggage, you know, and so is the little. It was a little challenging for me in the beginning. And then when I sort of found that the best way for me to approach it was to celebrate what we know of we Thanh and bring in other artists to collaborate with. That's when things started to really come together. And of course, I worked with Stephen sprouse to customer a commie Lahser Rennes. Yeah, you know. And so that that felt very European in sense. And also it felt like a way to be visitor at we ton and celebrate their monogram, etcetera. Oh, my goodness. I. Just I, I wonder, I go this collector's items. Now all of those things that you did there, all those crazy. I mean, you really, you really just deconstructed it and then put it back together again and made it so fresh. And so do you miss doing that? Yeah, I do. I mean, I miss being in Paris during the Paris fashion week. I mean, I don't think I would ever say that while I was there doing it, but of course not having it left a hole, you know. And so I was used to kind of like flying off to Paris the day after our show in New York and being exhausted, and then you know, rising to the next occasion and and I do kind of miss it and I missed my life in Paris. Yeah..

I, I don't know of anyone else who can do this level of on with anybody else I can do. Now you Michelle, you are, you know? So many people, you know, every guest who comes through here, Michelle has. Their phone number. She says, oh, I was talking to about Harper. Just the other day and island Marc Jacobs called me the the. I'm not that bitch. I, I'm a very introverted person when I'm I stick to myself and I say to myself. But you are not that way? Well, I like I like people that have like mine. I mean, those issues over and people with like minds I try to stay in. And would you say, hey, bitch, can have your phone number note? I never do that. Usually they'll ask me really? Why don't they ask me for my phone number because they're scared. You think Marc Jacobs? Yeah. Yeah, I I wouldn't probably call him, but I don't. I don't call them either. I'll usually get like Mark will text me and you know, send me a funny picture, whatever. No, I'll just just text here. Here's my number. That's how that usually happens. And I'm also really respectful. I will not just go, hey, was bitch? Yeah. Usually I wait for them to text me and then it's very easy done and it's not that and the ones that you really have a good report with, you'll go back and forth, and you'll see some something blooming in the case with Bob Harper. But for me, I can't really do this chatter thing with everybody all the time. See, like if you see me canoed alling or cavorting with one of our guests. Next, I want them to feel at home and there's sometimes there's a lot of stuff in the moment to talk about it. It'll kind of trickle away. But I think with you and I, there's a special lightning in a bottle that you only get once in a lifetime. My husband will come home. Tell me about your day and I'm like, I'm too tired. I just talked all day and he wants that. So I have. Some friends that there's a limit that of from me that I can give because I'm exhausted. But I think with you and I, we never get there. Don't never an end. No, no just goes and goes and goes goes, it's so funny. It's Alex. Here. Our producer said he went online and found one of our air checks and listen to it. No, India, I don't I think best price modern wholesale is only India, I'll just the name of the company best price. Modern wholesale is the name of the store that is a subsidiary of WalMart operating in India. They may have just while called it big ass door with big ass products. I thinking about this do they just refer to it as best price. Because that wouldn't we have best buy like that wouldn't seem strange to me. But like Deary, I'm going to best price mutter wholesale. Like sounds like a mouthful let short in that BPM w India listeners. I know you're out there. Please write in and tell us about your experiences with just about anything, actually. Okay. Next story. Let's talk about some more fashion musical chairs. John target left. Marc Jacobs after get this two months. Two months of working at the company. Target is a designer and the co founder of the label Baja east he joined Marc Jacobs to run the company's lower priced offerings. So Marc Jacobs used to have Marc by Marc Jacobs. And that was their lower priced designer goods. It did really. Well, so well. That it was bringing in about eighty percent of the company's revenue, but Marc Jacobs decided to get rid of that line and said they were going to consolidate some things come out with new product and target was going to be the head of that LVMH which owns Marc Jacobs said in a statement, quote, John Tarr, gone is a talented designer, and we appreciate the work. He has done here. Ultimately, working together did not make sense for the brand. And we wish him the best Rocard who good Basser, wait. So what was he doing prior to this role for two months? So he's the co founder of Baja east which is its own brand. And so he's going to go back to work on that company was a designer us working for that. Marc Jacobs has been through a lot the past couple months as Lisa reported a couple of weeks ago, he got engaged at japodlay. But the company as a whole has been going through some changes, many of the original designers were fired. Before target arrived. So he could bring in his own people. But now that he's gone they're gone to which means Marc Jacobs and his chief executive officer are starting from scratch. So what does it mean for the company? I think it remains to be seen. I'm a little confused by this news because I understand that he worked there for about two months and his purpose was to work on the lower the lower end of the price spectrum for Marc Jacobs. But they decided to consolidate those lines at least a year ago. So he was working on the next iteration of whatever that was it wasn't going to be marked by Marc Jacobs. They may have had some plant that they haven't announced to the public that we were unaware of conspiracy theory. Do you think he was brought in for the sole purpose of helping plan the flash mob at chapel lay? So Mark Jacobs could propose. I think he's too talented of designer just to do that. Although it is a curious theory that I would like to propose as well. I'm just about having theories that I can't back up. We'll consult the ouija board on that one. The man didn't even figure out how to use a coffee machine. What can you do it two months? Wait, do you know that for sure or no, I'm taking a guess about the first two months you have at a job anywhere. What are you learning? You're learning the person's name across from you. Her name is Brenda probably that coffee pot comment reminded me of an old school Gawker blind item where it would be like this liberty with a reputation of liking younger women was seen at the such and such. But it also seems very realistically. A new designer at very reliable fashion house can't figure out how to use the coffeemaker. No that I totally made up. Let's not start any rumors. I'm just guessing about what you can learn two months about your office. You're still get your see licks like you just figured out how your health insurance works. If that if you got it immediately, sometimes I'll wait ninety days..

"Remembering her original looks maybe as unique enough and she definitely i think became sort of the whipping post in terms of the added in terms of the stuff that she was saying corrup coma eating with the asshole confessional heard around the world so this is definitely unfortunately her stock went down for me over the course of all star stray liana what he's think yeah it absolutely went down like marc jacobs i just assumed in my head that marc jacobs was like ou can't do this episode milk still they're always until the next up a soda and then i'll come in and guest are i just i think i was empathetic towards milk in season six and after after this i'm like i got no more empathy real mike day are calling right now they're claiming a chapter eleven bankruptcy for that's what's happening in the stock watch for her listen i cannot tell you i agree with you on her first season i just felt the milk was misunderstood i thought she was a little bit of a head of time in terms of pushing the envelope in terms of gender and queer identity and non binary ways of looking at sex and drag and things like that and i really really thought that she was interesting and now i just think she's a jerk i really do i thought it was so propo how chichi vein who said that milk has gotten a lot of people who are really really excited about the way he looks as a boy and somehow milk thinks that that transfers to the way that he is.

"I don't know sexual preference. It's like people are inspiring people, and they have names. And that's who they are. They are their name what they do is something else. And it was just it was all very organic. You know, I asked Lana Lana then asked her wife, and, you know, then I reached out to milk milk was is Dan Donnegan who used to work at Marc Jacobs. He has his boyfriend James Whiteside is the Valerie not in a so it's like everything sort of moved in a very fluid fluid way. And it kind of grew you know, like we asked one person, and then they ask their lover or their boyfriend or their friend one. Last little personal note was with the granite looking. Well, you know, originally, it's on you know, what it was a perfect manicure last night. And then one nail chipped and has been polishing. So I stopped biting them. So I mean a two weeks. Go ahead read, then I had purple for a couple of days, but that shipped really quickly, and then I had a blue metallic, which was really nice but last night one ship, and once it ships, then I just sit and pick it all off. So now, it's a crappy manicure, and I'll have to go back to Jin soon and have it all redone, and I think I'm gonna go for green next week. What does it taste like to keep you from fighting doesn't taste? I mean, I don't I don't taste it policy is with the glitter in the nail polish. I find it. So mesmerizing to look at that. I don't I just look at my now, look your. I'm like, ooh, they're pretty. Yeah. Go on my Instagram. You can keep up with my car. Vacation vacation, oh, actually going to Brazil. What am I talking about going to present an award to Kate moss? Amfar beautiful my different Ardia friend Naomi will and Kate will be there, and I'm going through Sao Paulo too. I was supposed to say that. I think they wanted to do a press release about whatever too bad too. Brazil, of course, been to Brazil. Just how real. Yeah. So I'm going to I'm going with Charlie my boyfriend and with Lorenzo who, you know, very well, and we're going on the eighth of April to Rio and then to the fifteenth Sao Paulo. A little bit of vacation. And then a little bit of just enough. Yes, you'll have baton glowing guest fun kissed just the time. Right. Hopefully, you will have a fabulous Medicare. I will for sure have a fabulous manicure, especially if it's hand and right? Well, thank you, Mark. It's a lovely talking to you. Thank you for you on Drake. Thank you. All right. "And I did a sequin one for me that I over died black fit in with the theme of the collection, so Anna, and I have the the two couture versions of the Hillary Rodham Clinton t shirt, but I've made T shirts for Hillary before. Yeah. Do you feel very excited about Hillary potential next president? Yes, I do. I mean, I'd like to see her as president of the United States. What did you feel about the current current climate of primaries? Man and machine a circus MAC, I'm not I'm not really very political. I didn't really pay much attention. Let me ask you a question if you can address this how do you feel about the current climate of the fashion world outside of your world? You know, there's Al Baz kicked out of his company Raeside over pressure. Lisa company. Rumors of heavy spam on grace cards and those into a deal, but she's baby four for big issues ear so there's so much change going on. There seems like fashion always changes. I don't know what's going on. I mean, it seems like the beginning of the year or in the beginning of each year. There's always like some shakeup or people moving around or rumors of this when leaving or that one coming or whatever, and you know, what I just really stick to my own stuff. So I I mean, of course, you hear the rumors you hear the gossip you interpret things, but I try to look at you know, what I've got on my plate. And the next thing I know that we've got a resort collection. We gotta do we have an ad campaign. We have to shoot and just kind of worry about my world, and what I need to do and how I can contribute to my part of fashion. And and what I what I can do. Do you feel very good about not having to go to Paris, all these beautiful Paris? Yes, I'm Paris. It's kind of double edged sword. You know? It's like when you do something for so many years, and you don't have it. You feel good. You know? It's like, I'm sure it's like anybody who's used to going to the shows when they don't they can moan and groan about the shows. How many there are? And the schedule. But when you don't have it you feel it's the absence loss. So I think, you know, I, certainly I'm not working less. I put a lot of energy and effort into what we're doing here. And I'm very happy about that. But when it is Paris fashion week, I get that kind of Monty feeling like I should be doing a show, I should be closing Peres fashionably. So your recent ad campaign at looks like a lot of people from the rainbow. Ultimately, Bo transgendered people. Yes. So it's the bringing to that world is ultimate world lifestyle is bringing on fascist which a lot of people would not do at Cam as I explained in a lot of the captions, Nick. And I wrote a nickname Bolden. I wrote these captions for the ads, and how the visuals were Inara, you know, sort of this visual narrative, and it all started when gay marriage was passed. And that's when I went to. I mean throughout the states. I went to work the next day said we should do red white and blue because I remember reading on Miley Cyrus feed on Instagram like how proud she was to be an American. And I thought what it was like for me to be an American what America meant to me. And of course, America for me is New York City. So I thought about the diversity of the city and the people you know, that I grew up within. So he didn't wanna do like a U N or like, the, you know, Benneton campaigners something, but I thought about the people that inspired me, and the people that inspire me, it isn't gender specific it isn't sexual preference. Pacific. It is an age. You know, I don't care if people are younger or. Older white with Iraq. Or whatever it's like, I don't know color. I don't know age. I don't know gender..

"A building like anything. So she she just tries to find an image that complements or echoes. And sometimes it looks quite deliberate. Like, there's a picture of a Dior address that has this insane. Appliquee embroideries stuff of cherry blossom tree on it. And then a beautiful picture tribe loss tree. So you're like, okay. That's that is that that is where this came from. But then there's other things like this beautiful Marc Jacobs dress that all these tiered chiffon layers, and then this amazing picture of Taiwan. That has all these clouds going through it. And sometimes she manipulates the images on the right, which is always the quote inspiration image, the not fashion photo. So it's like a match the colors a little bit. But she never alters the fashion part of it. So there's like makeup to make up. Photography from like, some fancy magazine. And then a painting, or, you know, like a chair, there was a weird funky shoe that she put next to a sculpture, you know, and it's it's just it's nonstop inspiration. It's nonstop beauty on every plumbing for everybody. So sometimes it's very obvious. Sometimes it's just luck that she finds these two I can't imagine a her how her brain works. She's constantly keeping an archive of both kinds of images just keeping saving photos on her desktop or whatever and just saving saving saving. And then when you make a connection or she's like that is that that must be super satisfying to do because it's super satisfying. And she's been doing this for a few years. She had these I'm just scrolling scroll through her tumbler, and it's amazing stuff. And it's just like I said just nonstop beauty. It's just. Inspiration out. The was Oooo. You all you just need to be able to appreciate anything beautiful too. Which is like pretty much just human beings. I think we'll speaking of beauty. I watched the other day. I watched your obsession from last episode the or a part of your obsession anyways. But I watched the Wayne white dog beauty saying, it's so good go watch it. It's so wonderful and inspiring. Yeah. It's touching. It's inspiring. It's it's funny. It's like it's a bio pic, but it's also study of creativity. And this guy's like, he's so charming. He's like a very unassuming, man. Who's like a craftsman at heart, right, where he just made puppets and sets and production design and Steph, and then he ends up making these puppets and paintings and sculptures. And it doesn't take any of it too serious and heating. Courage is that like key looks for the humor in. It's just really a wonderful film. So if you owe we can't plug it in these embarrassingly find a way, I don't know if it's on Netflix or something with shirts on itunes. Yeah. We it on. Oh. It's worth one time. Beauties embarrassing. So good look at that too. All righty. I think. I think. Wrap this this week. Like, we keep saying talked with man keep talking to us. Yeah. Go you can rate us on have.
