"This father's day hank. What are you getting jay for father's day nothing. Good one funny jake. We're gonna talk about your viral video soon. You ready for it. yeah. I didn't always ready for talks and puck. We did a Return to the big mad for our leaf fan. Awol's the leafs are maybe the saddest franchise ever. It's tough right now. Big mad is trending in toronto. That's that's it's been it's been six thousand two hundred fifty one days since the maple leafs have won a playoff series. They haven't won a playoff series since two thousand and four. They haven't won a stanley cup. Since nineteen sixty seven but it's actually way worse than that because the way they lose playoff series are so stupendous. Lee stupefying lee bad that it's like incomprehensible to so the they had eleven years so seventeen years since they wanna play officers. Oh the first eleven years. They just didn't make the playoffs except for once and that one time they made. The playoffs was two thousand thirteen when they gave up a four one lead in the third period with ten minutes left in game seven including two goals when the when the bruins pulled their goalie in under two minutes to go. That's insane then. In two thousand seventeen they were up to one in a series against the capitals. They lost six games two thousand eighteen. They lost in seven games. Two thousand nine hundred and they lost in seven games and then they lost up three one against a team that i think fans like they hate more than any other team in in the canadians. They were up three one in the series. They go to a game seven and there's actually nothing worse than a no show in game seven. Yeah like losing in game seven. I know that that's bad in two thousand thirteen. They lost the way they lost. I would contend that a no show the way they lost tonight where you like. Get a fucking goal with thirty seconds left to just have something on on the scoresheet doubts that hurts so much worse. And it's not like the leafs have been terrible team this whole time either because they've been good like leafs in the late nineties early. Two thousand had a lot of really good players and there were so fun to watch. That was like the tie domi team when he beat people up that fell into the penalty box would fight everybody on the on the ice. you had. I think darcy tucker is on that team. You had mats dean like they've had a lot of really good players come through toronto and you always think of them as being one of the premier franchises just because they've got like their toronto's team. The blue sweater is wonderful. But they are they actually kinda got screwed by the strike because they had a really good team. I think that's when they they won. Their last playoff series was the year before the strike. They had a good team that they're building on. They got fucked by the strike and then they just haven't done anything at all since then. It's tough our good friend. Paul missed the net said that when they were up three one in this series he would he would get himself circumcised. Yeah he's concise. Dick got sweater and he will circumcise himself or pay for somebody. Circumcise them if they were to lose that series turns out. They lost the series. So hot seat pulled foreskin circumcised. Yeah he's gotta get circumcised. And i looked it up. Actually you have to. You have to wait forty two days before having sex circumcised hikes. New nickname jr nasty. Ooh you can't joseph your circumstance uncircumcised. No you don't come. Oh if you're the foreskin just sit in resorts it. he had just. It goes back in the fall. All right so we got big mad tweets. Read some of the best. These are from li fans. We asked them to write in. We do feel bad for them but misery is the best content. So this one's from luca he said. I wanna cut my face off while getting punched in the groin. Multiple times i. There was a theme to the people. Were trying to relate it to like our own misery. I didn't need that but a couple of them were like Said it's like being packers fan but are often turns into the bears come playoff time. Yeah that's actually a pretty good. Take though yeah. That makes sense. Mike he said. Please don't talk about us on the show. I just threw up at so bad. I'm going to chain smoke darts and hate saves a fucking joke. It's like watching a movie where you know the ending and it sucks but you watch it every year. Fuck fuck fuck. This is actually a pretty good spin zone by the leafs so the leafs texted a statement to their fans. Ooh after the leafs nation. This isn't where we want to say goodbye in her five-month unprecedent journey. The vision was clear. We fell short but we would like to thank the five hundred fifty healthcare workers who represent the true heroes of today. I can't wait to see scotiabank right. That yes oh this yeah. They had a bunch of like What what are they like. first responders nurses paramedics come out and they were in attendance tonight so another choking one of their spin zone is that because they there's still a lot of code restrictions and canada. They didn't have the giant watch party in the town. Yes no video of all the lease fans getting their heartbroken. Yeah good point liam wrote as leafs fans we should collectively choose one shit coined to pump and poor earnings to buy the team. We fire everybody in hire a shaman as a coach no need for hockey knowledge to coach. Lease just enough. Good juju to balance out the curse. I don't know how this guy's name. I'd rather drag my balls through mile broken glass and vinegar than watch. His team. cock-up the playoffs again. I liked that cock-up the playoffs It's like taking one hundred kids to the dick and over and over again This one did this guy. Did the same thing where. Lucy decided that to bring the bears into this. I don't know why it's like if the bears got a top ten quarterback and won. The division was a top five team in the league with a real chance to win the super bowl. But then the double join captains but then you take that feeling and make it every year except this year. It was against the packers Yolks this one. Came from kyle lowry season..

Mike seven games eleven years Paul thirty seconds seventeen years six games Lucy luca six thousand two goals Two thousand nine hundred ten minutes five-month father's day first eleven years tonight three game seven toronto

"Brand we know it's An incredibly busy time of year or not just in toronto but around the national league so we really appreciate you taking the time to join us here on the podcast extras. Thanks read all right. Thanks again to the president of the toronto. Maple leaves brendan shanahan throat. Punch not a big challenge. This week you know. I i i feel as the hockey gets going then. Obviously more game specific throat punching candidates for. You're going to emerge but renew at all surprised. Because i was at how much reaction there is been do the national hockey league selling ads particularly the helmet ads. I don't i don't. I don't understand why people care i don't care if there's an ad on the ellen or not that is my throat punch to the people that are complaining about this because in anything you do was advertising it so why can't the nhl advertise on their most notable product. Which is the players. So people always send. Oh yeah it's going to end up like this. Where the european teams have ads. All over their sweaters and pants and socks. I told you and i spoken about this. I went to the game and berlin last year landed was playing there right. Nobody looked like they weren't having a good time. That was the best game atmosphere. I'd been at in a long time. Remember back in the day. Because i was playing. I hate saying that. Jesus back in the day down anyway. There were no ads on the boards and when they put the first few ads on we were like. That's ridiculous those save never last. Now you're like you don't even notice them unless you see it in its advertising. What about the four places on the ice where the ads are what. I can't believe they haven't done. Why isn't there ads in the faceoff circles. That to me makes sense because everybody's stopped. You're not skating across the ad right where you might only catch a.

"One to one in the second overtime period of a of a game against colorado. He was quiet he was silent. He was thinking he was making decision so he knew in a moment where the game is stressful. And there's anxiety and there's adversity. He he knew to then just sort of run the bench in when the game was to lose that's when he created that atmosphere so so that when we got into the play offs so that when we got into an adverse situation where we were behind the eight ball that we were used to adversity. It's almost like if you're training soldiers like training field in your firing guns in the sky and creating all these noises He was trying all season. Long to recreate those anxieties. That you feel In the in the playoffs so that by the time we got to the playoffs we were. We were more of a playoff hardened team just by doing the right habits in having certain standards in practice during the regular season. So that's why the regular season is important. I it's hard to make the playoffs. Second it's the time in which you create standards so that i never remembered in detroit under scotty bowman getting to a game seven Where we said we have to play the game or alive. We have to step it up. We have to pick it up. I always sort of felt like you know on lesser teams resist feeling. We have to have to give more lives tomorrow. We have to really pick it up. But on scotty bowman teams on those teams and a and i'm sure for some of the elite teams in different sports. There's a feeling of we have to just play our game. Like we don't have to elevate anything we've been elevating all year and luck. It's regular seasons whether it's fifty game season or eighty two. You're gonna go through highs and lows you're gonna have losing streaks. You're going to have a week or two where you know guys like you. Rave between the benches are gonna say this team's never gonna win a thing playing this way There's probably a week or two last year. Were fairly somebody would have said that about tamp There was a week or two the year before somebody would have fairly said that about saint louis own. So you're going to have these bad times. But how do you use the season to develop those habits so that when you get in the playoffs you know how to play a certain way consistently janney last one for me. A lot of talk about the The advertising that helmet stickers and all that stuff in the pandemic. I got hooked into f. one racing. Don't know anything about cars. Don't know a damn thing my kids tell me you gotta get in it. I love it one of the things that they do really well. Is there drivers. And there's only twenty of them in the world they most of them interact really well. Like there's a daniel ricardo. I'm a huge fan is a bit crazy. He's a bit funny. You think we'll ever find time or nhl guys become more and.

"Shani's you know as an insatiable appetite when it comes to hockey and in this case the brand and the toronto maple leafs in general. Is there a misconception out. There that are kalu buses general manager sheldon keefe as head coach. The toronto maple leafs. They want skilled players but brendan shanahan and he came up to the old school of hard knocks one year stanley cups with different teams. You described in detroit but that you advocate for toughness. is that a bit of a misconception. I would say it's probably a misconception. That that kyle. Sheldon don't also advocate for toughness sin and intangibles. And i remember the first you know for some i met kyle and in. I was seeing what he was building. Sault saint marie Obviously then what he did for the trauma rallies all of their teams if you look at the players that played on on those teams in the su- If you look at those teams have played for the marlies they. They had a real nice balance of of of really skilled players. Which which you need It also toughness physicality Intangibles and And i think it's important. Say like you know. Sometimes toughness is about showing up for battle sticking together as a team But but i'd also say that. I can think of lots of players hockey. That maybe have never had a fight in their careers. That are incredibly tough. And resilient in gritty and by the way champions with multiple rings so I think sometimes there's an argument that sort of going on in hockey. Maybe it's going on all in all sports this sort of like analytics versus old school I was curious about when. I first got hired. I tried to figure it out. I didn't really understand what the flight was about I've got less time for that argument. Now it's it's to me. It's it's information. And i think some people will will take a manager that that is considered to have top teams. They'll say oh he doesn't care about skill that's not true Then you'll take a manager that has a background in analytics. Say oh he doesn't care about toughness he only wants skill. That's not true either. I think if you if you wanna know what how we think as an organization i think we we want to have a balance we If look at some of the moves that kyle is done over the last two years once we establish that core of talented young players bringing in a guy like buzzing bringing in a guy like clifford. signing veterans. We've always. we've always had a guy like a polack but gauchan now like big tough guys that can sort of be big leaders in the dressing room. There's always been a value to it but until you win it's not going to really be recognized so we're all trying to do the same thing in the nhl all to win And you know. But i think that that's important to state that that you know. I said an interview recently like i. I've lost my appetite. Not nothing ever had navigate for getting carried off in stretchers. But i don't i don't really enjoy watching guys You know i think my time specially at the league. And as i got a little bit older my time league and Learning about headshots and illegal checks the head like that's not something we thought about In the eighties and nineties. But there's been an awakening there. And i think that a disdain for sort of those illegal plays Is sort of is just something that that everyone in management recognizes now More so than we did in the past but.

"Thank you know that team Ended up winning three stanley cups that that organization in time in that courtroom guys and they were all very different. You know they were. They were all unique in and of themselves. And i think maybe if we had just one that one in ninety seven we might have that sort of frozen in. Our heads is like well. You know you you win one cup you take a you know it. Take a picture of that team in your mind. And you think that is the only recipe in which how you win a stanley cup. What was interesting about. You know that team going back to the next year was unfortunately we lost a lot of constantine in the limousine accident And then mike vernon who won the conn. Smythe trophy was traded that offseason so We were lucky enough to win to back they were. They were both really hard. They weren't easy but they were different. And then in two thousand and two. That was different as well. So when people get hung up every time a stanley cup a is given out. We sort of look at that team. And how they've been assembled or they are the puck moving speed team okay. Well let's copy that in the next year. Big physical team win these. Let's copy that. I think supported the learns that there. There are lots of different ways That you can win this thing And it's the other thing is that i was just listening to somebody. Talking about this A former stanley cup winner talking about how how hard it was in in different moments in which even when you win a stanley cup you you were facing elimination. Or how like you know a hit hit of a post or or goal disallowed or no side might have been the difference between a winning winning a championship. Not you know you look back even at the raptors here in toronto and i believe it was the third round of the playoffs. They started in. Milwaukee lost their first two games than they won their third game in triple overtime. You know the players. Don't forget how hard it is and how close it is those. Little tiny moments were something changed and shifted in allowed them to be champions but we tend to look back in history and just sort of think that it was a smooth ride Each time these wanna championship. But it's a hard thing to do so one of the things that i think of as you're talking there is so nobody's won a stanley cup. With the way that you guys have built your roster right like it's not a lot of teams have had the access to an austin matthews and mitch. Martorana william newland john to ours but does that make the additions of players like mckay of and digits bear ban off and let than does it.

"I mean that gets our attention and it creates more of the buzz reynard talking earlier in the podcast about the influence of the graybeards of the trial. May maybe even around the league a little bit and lyon matters. You've got jumbo. Wayne simmons bogosian. You mentioned jason spencer. How involved were you in that process of maybe dates back to acquire jake muslim where you recognize. Look we're still a young team are young so bring in these experienced guys now like joe forton could and probably will make a pretty big difference. I mean there's there's you describe young a bunch of different ways and some people would just use young as an excuse or or a bit of a crutch and to me That's not what this is about anytime you can like. I am foremost you've got to be able to play because it doesn't matter Who you are what your name is like. If you don't feel like you're contributing to the team in your corner of the team you get kleiner you get quite in the dressing room. You'll get quieter on the ice. So so we all recognize that that you have to have an important role and you have to feel good about your game to have a presence. In to have an impact on the mariners into matthews and in the young players in our organization that are still maybe not even in our lineup. Maybe not even making the leafs but get to see what these guys doing the gym every day. And get to see what these guys do. Practice every day So it's incredibly important. What what i would say to. Everyone is You know we we believe in balance. And i think that you're constantly seeking that out just the nature of the way that you build things in that you build. Nhl teams You don't always have the balance that you're seeking Like instantly and so. I think that You know constantly trying to move you're constantly trying to improve You're constantly trying to make your team better Other teams are are trying to be better than you trying to knock you a knock you down and and that's the nature of the competition. But i think that you know everything we did in this offseason Was meant to do to add more balance and get make ourselves a team. That not only. We've we've had some or some regular season success and we haven't had the kind of playoff success that we now think that we're capable of. I think that it's just trying to get over that hump get to that next level and you know the players that we've drafted developed Are great players and they want it. They love being maple leafs They you know. I've seen not only one difference. I've really seen here as a lot of ontario guys wanting to come home wanting to play for the leafs Wanting to be a part of that. So that's exciting. But ultimately everything gets decided on on.

"Joining us on the rain rigs hockey podcasts and shannon aiming regular season about to kick off six months no hockey. That's a long time for the players longtime for the staff. But i mean has to be a long time for you as well so will you must be looking forward to get things going again for. Sure i think. I think we're all not just us but society but you know in hockey mer discombobulated I know for for lifetime. Since i was a little kid. You know when. I talk about years or seasons. I they always. They don't necessarily start from january and in december thirty first. To your the way you remember years are oriented agassi's you know which usually start around september and and go till whenever the season ends and you get your summer your off season in lays at that that someday gets ingredient in us when we're takes and in pee wee's So it's it's been weird once in a while to be a training camp environment in pop your head up and look at a calendar and see that it's january or that you're playing hockey at august But we're all adapting. And i guess that's what that's that's the whole world is doing right now trying to adapt and figure things out. Try to get through this. Get through this time. When you know when the first lockout occurred channy we were playing and we all talked about how contacted the schedule was and how tough it was going to be and then it just kind of became what we did like. That just became the season right now. It seems like wednesday should be should be an exhibition game yet. It's a real game. And so how do you. How do you guys get ready that sprint and then you just have to kick it off like it's happening now. While we we ask our players to constantly be in in a state of an ability to read and react and adapt. You know your everybody has a game plan. It's like the boxing like everyone has a plan to they get punched in the face And it's it's the same in hockey you have a plan but you have opponents in. They're talented in the good coach. In good scouting. You're always having to learn to read and react in. And i think going into the season Aside from a first off some of the feedback that i think the league got from players after the bubble situation was that they didn't need as many exhibition games as they thought to get prepared for competitive intense hockey So so that was sort of an interesting perspective Talked to a guy like jason spasm who is a veteran now like he probably wanted four five exhibition games.

"I would lean to him being a too but only for that reason you know like he he can be your franchise centerpiece. Isn't it funny. Just a few years ago. People were shocked that you cake line and walked past a finnish player and yes he. Rv to take the dubois and we've seen in short order now. Cake line was was pretty bang on so when all these rumors are coming around. Drake's if i'm calling. I know that i'm not giving the will. I be prospect in a couple of extra pairs of shoes. Like this is a costly deal. He's got two years just signed on his contract plus when he's out of that contract he's still in your team's control right. He's not at unrestricted free agency yet. So this is a costly deal for whatever team is acquiring but if it's winnipeg it's lying back the other way however they can figure that if it's if it's montreal as it kotkin hammy coming back with you know maybe one of your better prospects like guli or dot right. But i mean that's that's a big cost the right. If it's calgary you're starting with sean monahan like that's not even a it's not even a discussion like the guy you're getting back isn't four years from being a good player already a top end. Nhl player. i'm getting that back. And if you don't wanna give me that back i can't make the deal and therein really lies the danger for not danger. The the trouble for dubois is you can ask for the trade. And then his agent will say oh. They're asking too much. The line is going to say. I'm not getting offered enough. And the answer is probably. He's not getting offered enough right. Because you've got a rip the heart of your team out of your forwards that's the heart of their forwards right and you have to replace the you. General manager need to have permission to speak with the asian papper saw to make sure that this isn was season and a half and he's gone or less he's not going to stay right Because that's the reality admits. Yeah but the problem with that. So i can ask and pepper song and do block and say yeah. I'm going to stay. The can't even signed him to an extension. No not until summer correct correct. Yeah so you would have to be working in the desk drawer there to to get an extension done. That's gonna come in fact be july i. I don't know what whatever that day is going to be right when it's eligible but that would be the way that would be the only way i could strip my roster of assets to make this deal and some managers will do that. I won't give permission. I understand that. So oh and i. And i get it to get it to. You're like wait a minute. What if i give you permission. You can't get a deal done now. I've got a player. That's now three quarters of the whale. The door he's already in his head fought. I'm outta here. Yeah always not..

"So is that is that good management recognizing that you know you're really inexperienced tears still so let's bring in more of these proven performers and an kinda goats to try and lead the her. Yeah it well. Yes i mean i think any of it like adding a goals yet. Simmons tried to address a a toughness sort of thing. It's all looking at. What our weaknesses in our strengths. Now the older guys not so sure on only in that i remember being an older guy and like your. Your legs are there. And then they're gone. You know it happens pretty quick right. It doesn't happen to a twenty seven year old happens to a forty year old. You know jason spetsnaz thirty seven Going to be You're going to be thirty eight at the end of the year. Thornton of course is plus forty. Y'all simmons has unfortunately had a lot of injuries to him that we don't really know how the pace of the game is gonna look this year because it didn't look great last year so the the list of forty year old effective players is really short. Like it's almost non existent. So they're they're asking joe to fill that spot with massey's and more they're asking him to play on the power play. Can you do it. I have no idea. I guess they probably don't know either. But for that cost the probably feel a luck. We're getting a great a one person. Which is what they have inspects it to and what they're going to get with simmons and so we're gonna put these eighty one people in the room and then probably hope that their on ice performance helps because if you think of it those three who are not gonna win any skating that's twenty five percent of your forwards every night like it it matters. Yeah it matters. So that's the unknown part of this. As far as the people anna.

"And so his his age. Probably you can multiply it forward a little bit now however vancouver had myers hughes schmidt adler and then jamie benn and a free untested totally untested players like. How is that going to work. It's not and so they get hammock in there and now you've got hammock to play with us right. That's nate schmidt's a good player so really good. Gifted is a great word that they were gifted. So now you've got schmidt playing with adler and now you know in some form. And then you've got myers with probably lady their first round pick from a few years ago who seems to have come around the corner injury wise and play wise. Now you look at the blue light and you go man. I could see that this was a good signing for them. Now i don't know drags you know this like. They can't make it official till they put. Michael furlan lt. I correct correct. And that's the league has stepped in on that too by the way right frank. Seravalli was doing some reporting on social media and whatnot. Where they're saying okay. You need to disclose us and you need to file that contract otherwise roster that you have today is the one that you're going to work with Because it is a form of cap circumvention. Right and i believe. That's why the saint louis blues did what they did in announcing hoffman. So again as we're recording this. Maybe it will be announced when people are listening. Furlan has been placed on lt. Ira that's the wiggle room for. Jim banning in the to make the one year deal. Travis helmet worked. It looks like eriksson is going to be either on a taxi squad. Or i guess that's where he'll be so a million dollars comes off to cap one point seven five. That's a you know. That's ed pebble in the shoe of cannock fans out here. That's for sure is that and they're just you know they've seen enough of of what didn't work but they're still got you know they still got some clogs in the salary cap there but this this whole division is going to is going to be a bit of a scramble and i think we all know it's gonna be really interesting but vancouver's okay i i don't think they're calgary. I don't think they're toronto. I don't think they're montreal. But i think they're in that group with edmonton winnipeg. And kinda you know. It's a in my opinion. It's going to be three team scuffle to see who gets in you mentioned. We had a brief conversation with corey. Perry and fully fits into that category too. But i call it the collection graybeards right and it seems like veteran players players was down in cup experience just experienced period of always mattered. So let's let's twist this in a different way. But i look at what the toronto maple leafs have done. Here and man. I'm intrigued by it. I am and i think this goes back to the jake. Muhsin trade with the la kings where they went. Okay we're acquiring this piece and then they realize okay. Muslims pretty good defense than but manny's good and he's good in the bench. He's good with the media and you know they'd special there again The experience factor they bring in jumbo joe thornton and they bring in wayne simmons. So now it's become more than two incidents or just trying to mix things up a little bit right..

"And like you can now. So we get out there once a year and you'd come on. Danny's good. I got to play with them at the eighty nine World Cup world championships in Sweden. And so he was never a great skater, but he was so smart and because he was so smart, he didn't have to skate all over the place. He always seemed to have the `Paki. Always made a great play. He made the people around him better and That's as a player but. Oldest. recollection were reading. Last Day. Since Dale Pass is about what a person he was. And a remember on that team John Ferguson who was the general manager in Winnipeg was one of the managers on world championship teams. And Dale was there with a couple of other Winnipeg jets? Until they went to a travel agency in Stockholm to book a trip. Post. post-world tournament. And it turns out the guy that was running the travel agency was a former Winnipeg jet draft pick. It's all those guys they rode Furby Furby. We found your draft pick he's run at a travel agency. They were. And it was so funny because you come together you don't know anybody on these teams from other teams and he was just such a nice person and look I'm going to be fifty six on Sunday and I see somebody like l. pass away at fifty seven and man it's sobering. It's so sad. We all connect. However, we do most of what's through our hockey. but he's a husband and a father and a feel so badly for. For the Howard Chuck Family just wish wish my best absolutely you know in in reminiscing with great housing in the Winnipeg, jets on Tuesday Zinger made a comment of Dale Howard Chuck and said he was a low maintenance superstar and that was Dale Howard Chuck to a t and you could really feel that you're right off ice even talking briefly with Dale be at here on the podcast store I came across a number of occasions in minor hockey rinks. He was head coaching the buried colts and scouting some up and coming players he just loved the sport I love being in the ring he love talking to people about horses about hockey about family. Even though we use it as Cliche when people pass. It was a great man in in every sense and. Clear. Shea and at fifty seven on national treasure lost to the despicable disease of cancer. So you you you said, well, right now our best to the Howard. Chuck family and. Is Legacy will will never leave us. I'm sure they NHL. Will do something and obviously the the Winnipeg jets have something nice plan and they're going to construct a statue outside empty. I thought the jet sort interrupt I thought. In, communicating that today before he passed I don I did something about that struck me as right. Like so many things get done after somebody passes away. He he must have known. How people felt about him no question no go I think the judge should be commended for that. Yeah. Agreed and one final note many of us saw the Hashtag Howard trucks Howard trump strong. That lives on. So there'll be lots moving forward and honor and in memory of Dale. Howard Chuck. Array. Tim's many sticks is a big deal in by Tim's I mean Tim Hortons right? We've been kind of. "Our broadcast of Blackhawks and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Final meeting of the regular season. Troy and the Blackhawks are coming off. What many believe is their best win of the season seven to one over the Zona coyotes a team that is no awkward doormat? That's a tough team to beat in the. Blackhawks put a pretty good beating on their seven to one. They're going to need an even better effort here tonight against the Toronto Maple leaf that effort was great, but they're going to need even more than this is a different animal. This is the the high powered Toronto Maple Leafs. They got great offense players on their roster that this is gonna be a different type of. Matchup that the Blackhawks having seen the last couple of games. Dallas Arizona two teams struggling to score goals on a consistent basis. This team can't score goals. They got scoring thrilled lineup. Blackhawks got to be really good in their own end today and make sure that they're prepared to pay the right way. Because Mike Babcock is going to have these guys playing up to their potential in this game tonight after that slack. They took the other night that you've mentioned for sure. All right. The injury report sponsored by Blue Cross Blue shield, Illinois, the car to carry through at all. Good. Julia remains out of a lineup with concussion septum. And he hopefully is coming along haven't heard too much about him. But Cam war has been with the team. He took the morning skate this morning Cam ward is coming along. And his condition is improving. We may see him back in the lineup real soon time for tonight keys to the game. And they're sponsored by Bud Light rays one for hockey twice got those keys. Thanks, john. The first keys you better be ready to play this game. You better be spared. The right way, this is gonna be a tough contest and trial is gonna come out fly until late upper start. You have to make sure that you're on your game. Second key is the defense high powered offense for the tunnel. Police is going to be a real good challenge to see how they play defensively against the team thing that they did the other night very well against Arizona park management bids. Turtle parks in that game. That's gotta be another key here tonight. Because this team is great in transition Tari. Thank you for those keys. Troy while the boys are on the ice surface will have hockey here momentarily. Give you the goal right now for the Tronto Maple Leafs. It's gonna be Frederik Anderson who in his career three two and three, and it's gonna be Corey Crawford at the other end three one and on his career against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Mississippi kind of a game that Corey I think what take a lot of frighten me knows what it means to his team. He knows that a win here tonight can keep things going. The Blackhawks start the evening only six points out of a playoff spot, and you just never know with thirteen games left in the regular season where they could climb to. But without great goaltending. You're not gonna get their Corey Crawford knows that the hockey world knows that. So let's hope but Cory will give out one of his best performances here tonight. This time we're going to send it down the ice level and pick up our anthem singer bowl phantoms here tonight. Oh, Canada and the star spangled banner, and then hockey the Blackhawks and the Toronto Maple Leafs Jenin original six matchup. Enjoy the anthem.

"The trauma of leaves have acquired defenseman Jake Muhsin from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for forward, Carl French drum the rights to Sean dursey who is a recent traffic answering us first round pick in the twenty nineteen NHL draft Faysal Kameda taken away six months. I'm sorry. This is really the key is ability to play the pop end of our defense that plane all obviously growing up, you know, everyone is released fan and those included who know kind of funny how life works and here we are coming back home to play for the team going up kind of. Probably that, you know, as well Ricard Grahn bring this week national coach will be aboard here in a couple of moments looking forward to talking to him about a number of things the differences between key players in North America and Sweden and the chances of him showing up behind the bench in the National Hockey League and other issues that revolve around but are not exclusive to Swedish hockey players. So stay tuned for Ricard Grundberg here on the podcast and a couple of moments. Meantime, Jake Muhsin is now ex of the Los Angeles Kings. He's now a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs on that blue line with one more year on his ticket at four million dollars a copy to which Elliott Friedman says blank, I said, I think it's a good trade for them. I mean, they're in it to win it right now. And they didn't take anything off of their roster. You know, I think one of the reasons that they did not go with some other possibilities including the likes of Brett, patchy and Alex. Her Angelo is that it was going to cost them pieces off their current roster. I don't know what the talks with Carolina turned out to be or not be. But it was going to involve a player either, captain or Yonsin or something like that. I have heard and I do believe that the talks was Saint Louis for Pedder. Angelo involve William knee Lander which Toronto did not want to do. So that was something they were not willing to consider as we saw they could do Muhsin without taking off their current roster. And I think Muslim was a guy that they are interested in even though he's a left hand shot. And what I've heard is. They were Muslin's most diligent and aggressive pursuer. I believe Montreal been there. He was in the patch ready deal. The aboard the L, and I think that's Tampa was there. But when it really mattered who was the team that was aggressive. It was Toronto. And he was the guy they targeted. Let's say there must have been other teams. You mentioned Montreal you mentioned Tampa's while you do wonder about a team like the boss. Bruins. How much of this is the maple leaves got Muhsin and someone else that may police may face in the playoffs. Didn't I think there's something to that? But again, the only other teams I really heard were Tampa Montreal. I'm sure there were others. I can't say for sure that they were there may believes done. I think they'll look for a right hand D. But now it's dollar in dollar out. Now, you can look at sites like cap friendlier puck pedia, and you can say, okay, they've still got a boat, you know, some cap room about four million cap room. But what you don't want is Mitch modern Austin Matthews bonuses to go into next year. You know, the fact that monitored and go to the all star game eliminated one of those bonuses. But I think your budgeting I was told for about three point seven five million. So you've got to keep that doesn't happen. So it's dollar in dollar out for the Maple Leafs. Now who does this help the most on that blue line? Some would make the point that this helps Riley Frederik Anderson someone made the point that it helps Travis Thurman. Because it moves Ron Haines you down to a lesser role probably paired with him. Yeah. Probably I think that's all true..
