"See you, and I feel for you folks there on the four twenty nine northbound right now just sitting there with what looks to be about a two mile backup right now. Jackie O'Brien has her eye on this thing. The bad news is this may last for quite a while. You're jackie. Yeah. There's a fatal crash. So that means accident investigation, and at least a couple of hours. So if you're heading north get off at Stony Brook, west or independence Parkway. If you're not there yet, take Avalon road. We'll have an update and traffic. Jackie. Thank you twelve eleven now on does news at noon with Scott Anez, it's all about hardball politics in Washington between the president and the Democrats in congress. Let's go live to our Washington bureau reporter Dory, shaima endure. Interesting times yesterday. The speaker Mansi Pelosi came out and labeled the president's actions, cover up the president gets ticked off. Off. He calls off talks with her on infrastructure Pelosi spoke again today with reporters is kind of like the old, the old point. Counterpoint SNL skit back in the day Dory, isn't it? Oh my goodness. Well almost at the holiday weekend. Nancy Pelosi just has this way of really getting under the president's skin. And we've seen this time and time again, and now as you just laid out for us. We are back in that position. And there's not just the spy with the president, but also with the president's staff Sarah Sanders, Kellyanne Conway, nobody is happy with Nancy Pelosi, and she really is an IB with them. So at issue today, Sarah Sanders came out this morning and said, quote, you can't literally have a meeting like Nancy Pelosi did yesterday just an hour before she got to the White House where she accused the president of crime said he had been caged, in a cover up and show up and pretend like nothing happened. And let's down and talk about roads and bridges. It doesn't work that way. So she's making the case for why the president has said he will not work with Democrats until they wrap up any investigations into he his family, his finances or his businesses. And now the speaker says she continues to pray for the press. I heard that coming in this morning, I guess she's trying to paint him as being out of control and he needs an intervention. I think that's interesting. But the president saying, look, I'm not working with you. I'm not working with the Democrats anymore. The question now becomes for like for how long how long Cisco last year. Yeah. I mean and there's been a lot of debate about this. But Richard Nixon is, is cited in this situation a lot that he actually had some very significant pieces of legislation that, that pass through congress as the impeachment proceedings were going on investigating him and his conduct. Watergate. So that's kind of what Democrats are citing as the counterpoint to President Trump saying, listen, we can do two things at once we can simultaneously want to fix our nation's roads and bridges, and also be concerned about your conduct or finances, and investigate the matters that we feel necessary. Well, there seems to be a stalemate at least right now, they're between the president and the Dem's there in congress. Always a pleasure Dory. Thank you so much. That's our Washington bureau reporter Dory. Chamoun twelve thirteen. Now, your news ninety six point.

"Tell you, I think that the president is wrong. That's what sets me aside from a lot of the other talk radio hosts. But listen, this was just a clown show with Nancy and Chuck from the beginning and Nancy guaranteed. The fist thing was not going to go smoothly. Just dopey and Chuck Schumer. He's got his his glasses down here on the tip of his nose. Also serious. Why so serious your jaws gonna drop? A couple of moments. I've got a real cover up for you Nancy, you wanna hear a, a real cover less, if the if the Democrats as truck Schumer put if they were seriously by getting a package putting an infrastructural together. Chuck, your beef is with Nancy freaking Pelosi, and what she said prior to the meeting at the White House. Then Schumer said that Trump didn't even shake hands. What Mansi Pelosi did in no way was ever going to get the president to hold any kind of productive meeting sabotage is what the the bottom line here. All right. So again, I don't wanna get into, if I have time later on out, we still hours two and three of radio and a lot of things jam into the program today, but I can dive a little deeper into you know what Pelosi is. Suggesting is a cover up. But let's do you wanna know what a real cover up paying Mansi? Let me refresh your memory, let me refresh your memory on what a real cover up, actually sounds like we're we get into the get into the Schnitt time machine here. This is what a cover up sounds like looks like a smoking gun, if you will at the highest levels of the federal government, let's take you back to Ma. March twenty first of nineteen seventy three. Yep. Gonna take it back to the Nixon. Administration and President Trump and White House counsel time. John dean in the Oval Office talking about what am I say? What did I say? So of Trump. Thank you. President nixon. March of nineteen seventy three president Nixon, excuse me, president Nixon, and John dean White House counsel there in the Oval Office and they're talking about had a pay off the Watergate burglars. To keep them quiet to keep their mouths. Shut. Now, this is a chilling audio. You wanna talk about cover up. This is what a cover up says, like Nancy Pelosi..

"Just after four o'clock? So it was in our second hour. It was just after four o'clock eastern time yesterday that Mansi Pelosi did this interview. And wow. With this Washington Post interview, she dropped the couple of bombs and President Trump has not yet responded. In fact. Trump on alert. So whenever the president tweets, I get a little Bing Bing Bong on my literally. That's that's my my sound. When when Trump tweets I have a I took an MP three of from one of his campaign speeches when he went Bing, Bing Bong, and it's perfect. Whatever Trump tweets, and my sound is up on my phone. It goes Bing, Bing Bong. It's a it's a classic. And I'm trying to find my tweet from earlier, and whereas my tweet let me see if I can find this ch. What I do at that thing. Oh, here we go at this was eighteen hours ago. This is your last night. I tweeted out. I just lost the I'm kind bathing the president. I'm kind of goading the president here here. It is. I found that I lost it in the scroll. It says at real Donald Trump. What is taking so long for your response to the inflammatory comments from Nancy Pelosi to the Washington Post today? And then I tweeted that thing out eighteen hours ago. A Twitter that out. Eight forty pm last night eastern time. And yeah, I'm shocked. The president has tweeted numerous things he's weighed in on the complexity of airplanes will we'll get into that a little later on. But pelosi. I'm surprised that you have not received a response the President Trump. We gotta get into a little bit more on that. We have this this absolutely insane college admissions scandal, and wow, I mean, we find ourselves in the whole process. My daughter has verbally committed to a division one school. My daughter had numerous schools. Trying to recruit her and my daughter has committed to she had the ones the twos the threes. I mean altogether. I think we had interest from upwards of maybe twenty different schools and eight seven eight nine division one schools, and my my daughter has verbally committed. So we been through this whole process will also get into the latest on the the Boeing seven three seven max eight and this story is out of control as the whole world is saying we're grounding the plane, but the FAA has not grounded the max eight yet, and should it be grounded. So I wanna get into all that adjust the bit love Pelosi here quickly. And then I want to go into the college scandal. I'll give you more details on my daughter just a little bit of a a roadmap on where we're going to head this hour, so three big things on Pelosi. Of course. I mean, she really dropped a couple of bombs yesterday. Even to the point. Point where she was essentially telling the Washington Post reporter. This is Nancy Pelosi news.

"'cause when the ones from Europe weighed in you were really in trouble. And I just thought I'm you know, when I wrote about it last weekend. We're what you said. Well, it was great just was writing about the documentary. And you know, these two kids one was seven and one was eight or nine, you know, when he began abusing them. They're now in their forties when they had sons of their own and their sons reaching that age they have intense trauma symptoms, and they just felt like they couldn't hide the secret anymore. Even though they had backed up into Moni help off. Yeah. But because this was the interesting thing to mean they were in love with him. He made them fall in love with him. And also their mothers, the mother the mothers scary because they are still in off him. They talk about how they got the limos and the credit cards and the cars and the houses and Neverland and one mother talks about the champagne in the wine, the wine cellar never land. And how great it was. And you're you're just cringing because you know, one mother is very proud of herself. Because Michael Jackson said just leave your son here for a year because he would have one child companion for year, and then you'd move onto another. And the mother said, no, I'm not going to leave him. I'll share him with you. That was her idea of standing up to Michael Jackson, which is like amazing. It's thing that Stein Shing. And you know, it's. It's a sort of a saga about how celebrity warps judgment, and you know, from OJ to Bill Cosby to anything, you know, people who are famous can get away with things do you think that's true anymore? This R Kelly came at all those e still operating still not jailed. Yeah. I think that continues to be true. Michael Jackson was a level of star that we rarely see anymore. Hollywood doesn't have that many stars anymore. You know, so it was much more intense. But yes, I think celebrity continues to warp to war people. Do you imagine all this me too thing we'll have residents? I mean, the times is one of the papers that really pushed run pharaoh with someone else who did that. I think yes, I think that it definitely put a lot of creeps on notice. But I don't think anything will change in Hollywood until we have more than one percent of women directors on the top hundred gross and. Matata? I I mean as long as those statistics remain the same. It's very much like Saudi Arabia. The Catholic church if you have a society that systematically, excludes the hearts and brains of women, you're going to have a sick warp society. Right. That have church this week. All I mean, Silicon Valley. Yeah. Well, hello. Yeah. You do have it more thing. When when in that that zone when you think about those cultures where is the change point from your perspective? Where do you imagine it shifting because Washington was like that? Now, it's much more. There's many more women in of Mansi Pelosi. It took a long time. Yeah. Yeah. It it took a crazy longtime. I don't know. You know, I think Pelosi's and interesting sort of emblematic figure because she when we see her wielding power in that fierce effective way. And that's what I was saying about a oh, see I think that's what's really going to change the dynamic, although women do that everyday in the home right off. Right. Right. So what needs a public thing? Yeah. The girls growing up seeing that right? Women successfully wielding power, right? I think is will change on the flipside of Lisbeth from theranos homes. Right. There isn't represent all women. But it certainly is. There's this amazing new story in Vanity Fair by Nick Bilton talking about how you know, even when she was going down. She didn't think she was going down there. She got some Siberian husky named Balto as a symbolic gesture about the Siberian huskies who in nineteen twenty five brought the anti talks last diptheria thinking. Oh, my God this lady is so banana, she she she she's an event shows up at vents, I see her and she's has another startle. Yeah. I see her vents what kind of startup..

"Broadcasting live from capitol movie national prayer breakfast, Chris rock show from DC, and this is a privilege and honor. And it's just a blast. So you can see what it looks like over here in DC, and I'm dressed up all fancy I'm all fancy. Poor executive producer. Chris is like a man your microphones to. And he oh, by the way. He also reminded me that Mike Lindell from my pillow who was at the state of the union last night has great stories to tell about what he saw is going to join me at ten pm, Dallas time forgive me. I'm going on time. And by the way for me personally. Like all the years. I I used to produce radio working my way up when I was in Austin in the late nineties, and I learned I got so sick of people central is that Easter I look I'm just as confused, and I don't ever ask me what mountainous because I couldn't I couldn't tell you you you. I couldn't tell you the same my life. But. But I just say where I'm at DC time eleven o'clock DC time, which means ten o'clock Dallas time because that way there's no confusion house that house that I'm so confused, so ten o'clock Dallas time. Mike Lindell will join me, and it's going to be a blast. He is a riot. And a really great guy. A really really great guy. Okay. So let's get into the state of the union because. You know last night was just a privilege to host the show from Dallas before coming out to DC today. But last night was amazing less than it was amazing for so many reasons I had lost faith in Trump not one hundred percent or anything stupid like that. But I just lost faith in them with the wall. And with what I what I feel felt was really a failure. And I thought that big letdown. And I needed a pick me up. But this was ridiculous last night. This was through the roof. This was a grand slam and it's easy to say. Well, you're just saying that because you're a Trump fan. I'm telling you something last night was a grand slam last night was a game changer. The Democrats are now looking horrible. And they are off their their their on their heels and they're off their game. And last night. The Democrats looked like I mean, they would not clap for black people getting jobs, they would not clap for Hispanic people getting jobs. They would not clap. I mean, the list goes on and on. And today, and this is one of the things going back to what I've said to you is that there's so much hatred of Donald Trump, and I don't care if you if you think you're right. You're on a man there's so much hatred of them that the people who are who hate him have have have become and I've told you the stories it's been like this for awhile blind. And they're so blind. They become as I've said like a biblical fool where they literally are tripping over themselves like idiots, and they don't even realize it and. That's what happened again today. And that's what happened last night. They didn't even know if they should stand for things like black jobs. And. Because they they're like we hate him so much. We can't make them look good. And so their concentration was on making sure that Trump doesn't look good. In what they're forgetting. What matters is that the American people come first. And that means black jobs, for example, Trump also played those women in the I'd never seen so many women in white soap too, many Democrats and white since the KKK marched, you know, what I mean that means just blew up executive producer. Chris didn't it. I mean, my gosh, you got you got to see that mean go to Chris crock show type in type in Facebook Facebook, Chris crock show, that's Chris crock show click on the public figure click like and scroll down and shared away. Plus, you can see the video of me live on my first segment from DC here. But. They they hate him. So much. That. They're forgetting what they're supposed to do. But what is supposed to be doing what they're there for? And. It's kind of like Saturday Night Live. It's not funny when they start with a premise of Tina Fey always go back to Tina Fey. She she could be great and funny, but she would oftentimes to me. Come across as like, George come across like, okay. I hate George Bush. Let's write a skit when instead it should be. I wanna make some comedy and President Bush is good to make fun of this. We can work that in that. That's fine. But when you start with I hate Trump, and we're going to the state of union. We gotta make sure Trump doesn't look good. You're going to fail. And that's what happened last night the premise was to make sure they don't let Trump look good and comes to consequently and subsequently they look like fools floundering around spinning around like like a harp. Seal. Not knowing looking around see if they should stand or not Clapper, not and. And then they ended up being used like a tool unbeknownst themselves and Trump didn't even he knew he was doing. He's a masterful guy, but he made them stand and clap. And like fools. They did it. But they look like idiots. You know, why because they didn't begin with the right premise, which is forget that. We hate Trump. We're going to stand and clap for whatever we should stand and clap for because it's not about him. It's about the people. And instead they chose to make it about him in the American people last night voted we saw the polls there on freaking believable. Aren't they like seventy two percent? Seventy three percent. I mean, this is insane. The man is through the roof. The numbers don't lie. The numbers don't lie in. What are they peddling today? All the Democrats peddling today. They're they're peddling. They're peddling. Fear scare in lie. It's all it's about Trump. Fear scare life. You're scared lie, but the numbers don't lie. See the Democrats are mad. If I if I were to give you a phrase for tonight's show. The theme would be they're mad, but he's winning. They're mad, but he's winning see. So all they can do is say that he's scaring people giving, you know, spreading fear in lies. But the problem is the numbers don't lie and seventy six percent say he did a great job. Seventy two percent. All these numbers are are amazing from CNN from CBS. They're insane. They're amazing. They're so great now. Now. Why did the eight I give out the number eight hundred two eight eight WBZ eight hundred to eight eight nine two two seven and executive producer? Chris. I'm sure you still have the same audio. We pulled from the speech last night. So if people want to come at a good chance will pop off one of the pieces of audio to kind of buttress or complement what you're saying. But. Mansi Pelosi with that clap I wanna get into that next because the class is being played up. So big time. Right now. And buy some, and I have a lot to say about that. So we'll get into that coming up next on the Chris krok show broadcasting live from the nation's capital like a mile or so where Donald Trump gave his amazing speech last night for the state of the union, and where Donald Trump President Trump will be tomorrow. I'll be right there in the room with him when he's speaking at the national prayer breakfast, vice president Pence, so I'm I'm here for the national prayer breakfast. We're having a great time again coming up tonight at ten we're going to talk to Mike Lindell, the owner of my pillow who was literally. At the state of the union watching.

"All right, one more sound bite here before we get started on the phones this pencil neck. Adam bug-eyed shift. He was on Stephanopoulos show yesterday B C's this week. And the question are you prepared to support any funding of a wall as part of a broader immigration compromise? With the president we agreed on conference reports that would set out the funding for border security. The only thing that got in the way was the president was frightened off by Ann Coulter. And Rush Limbaugh and what we will negotiate amongst each other. And with the White House. We're not about to negotiate with these conservative pundits. One of our top priorities is passing a Bill to make that kind of shutdown impossible in the future. So now, you gotta make a shutdown impossible. I have never negotiated with these people. I don't know any people. I've never said a word this is so absurd. This is all part of their ongoing effort to defame and to impute they want the brain dead people watch the drive by media to actually think that I am behind the shutdown. It's a way of making sure that no additional people ever start listening here. And it's a way to keep this fevered pitch. Hatred for conservatives up at a high level, they are engendering hatred here for me and others who have nothing to do with any of this. I'm not whining, folks. I'm just telling you what's going on people that do not understand the degree that hatred for us. Propels the leftist agenda are going to forever. Be shocked and dismayed as that agenda marches on. Quickly on the phones Orlando. This is Ed. Great to have you, sir. Welcome to the network. Hi, rush rush. I need your opinion on something. I wanted to millions who supported Trump still support Trump during the shutdown all of these polls, supposedly set all of these people who are deserting Trump. I'm assuming they were his a lot of his supporters. I voted for Trump. I'm sure like millions did for basically three things build the wall. Put the judges who follow the constitution and taxes. Of course, there's some other things the point. I'm trying to make is how people who are these people who supposedly have gone off the reservation because of the shutdown and no longer supported him who's going to build that wall rush who's gonna who's gonna point these. He's our best hope to get this done who I think. Yeah. I got you. I think what you're what you're seeing in those media reports is hope and prayers. I mean, they're they're hoping that Trump's base is going to abandon him. And they're assuming that it's happening because that's what would happen on their side. If if one of them one of their leaders at a hard and fast agenda item, and they betrayed their voters on it than those people would go beserk. So they think it's going to happen here. Most Trump voters nigger like you. There's nowhere else to go here in the larger enemy is the left. Not trump. The larger enemy is the opposition to. America opposition to American founding opposition to us. And it's it's Trump is at if you bail on Trump, then you've got literally no body stopping this forward March by the left. I think it's largely it's imagined. They might read some conservative media people claiming they're leaving Trump reminded, some some some fringe tweezers and assume that that means Trump voters at large the, you know, the derby will secret Trump's approval numbers among Hispanics a fifty percent during the shutdown went up nineteen points. And you know, what Mansi Pelosi, and this is the NBC news Wall Street Journal, you don't what her favorable unfavorable numbers. Nancy Pelosi Twenty-eight percent favorable forty seven percent. Unfavorable Nancy Pelosi who's being treated as practically the Queen of the country. You're being lied to so often in the media, folks, it's hard to keep track of.

Where's all the snow? What am I supposed to do with? All this milk and bread. I wonder we'll get you up to date. Traffic weather all that. Of course, says we go along during the first hour of the Tennessee star reports phone number seven three seven wwl ABC this morning anytime during the show, you're welcome to join in Michael is off today. And Ben Cunningham is gonna join us founder of the Nashville tea parties. We talk about some of the stories this morning, but again, you can call in dog with his ship. You like looks like the state of the union address is on the speaker of the house Nancy Pelosi made the offer to the president yesterday. And he accepted it will be. On February the fed Michael night. We're talking about this yesterday. And he didn't think he didn't think this would happen during the three weeks inbetween, perhaps government shutdowns and all of that. But I mean, I was thinking. Yeah, she'll she'll offer this and and and it just turned out that it did happen yesterday. So the president has accepted there will be a state of the union address the shutdown is over and a lot of people say now what? And we'll talk about it. The president has made a couple of comments. It'd be doesn't mean get a deal, then he may go the emergency declaration route others are concerned. Maybe there will be a shutdown again. We'll just have to see what happens here joining us. Ben Cunningham in the Nashville tea party founder joining us is Michael's doing some business today. Man. Good morning to you. First of all, and you stay in warm. Hey. That's not easy now. Well, we dodged. Bullet. It's we've I'm north of national say, we're just dusting of it. I think most of the schools are opening two hours late except for those down in the southeast area listening area like Giles, and Franklin and grinding and coffees. Those are those are closed but most of the schools and in middle Tennessee are opening to our late. But we're. Yeah. I was thinking yesterday we were talking with Michael. And you know, he's pupil in people like us you. You know, we don't see snow that often. And or you know, three or four times a year. Whatever may be. And so, you know, we we we get the supplies and everything and and then he's know I'm from up north, and I. Yeah. I don't have to worry about it. Then what happens? She takes a business trip to Florida on a day. It's supposed to snow, right? I mean, come on. Right. Exactly. Yeah. You know, we've had in. They're talking about is going to be some of the coldest weather around the nation. I don't know what you do in the sixty degree below zero sort of atmosphere if there's a wind chill like that. But I I it made me think back when I was in high school that you know, like in the late seventies where we had some I guess severely cold winters. I remember Percy priest lake froze over one year. And I mean, it was just so crazy how that happens in it. You know, it's just you know, every once in a while, you're gonna get cold weather. I don't I don't know why people want to, you know, blame climate change and in all of that for it because you know, these things more running cycle for the most part. Absolutely. But they do of course, they blame it every time they blame climate change. If it's called blind climate change. This ludicrous. That's the point where it's just it's just political theater from from morning till night. And and that's that's the environment. We're in and that's that's what's going on with this shutdown. Now, we're into the twenty twenty election cycle. We've got to all these new democratic candidates coming out there trying to make their Mark and go as far left as they can. Mansi Pelosi has at least at this point. Absolutely, no motivation to to end this thing, you know, Trump is those of us that support Trump this more the wall, we're waiting on him to do something and come through. I personally would prefer that. We not go the national emergency root. It is a possibility. But I'd prefer go ahead and just appropriate the money, and and you know. Normal appropriation and get on with business like we should be insecure. The border. But you know, I I do think that Trump is is more and more has the upper hand here. I mean, he's a he's a guy that knows gamesmanship. He knows he loves being in these these high-pressure negotiations. Mansi hands are pretty much tied. He ought to to any has. I think taken the initiative, and basically is turn this into a campaign. And I think he's gonna win the day. How it's all gonna play out who knows? But I think the more he stands his ground. The more out. We're going to stand behind him. And I just don't see the Democrats being able to hold and and keep this silly claim up that we don't need border security. The thing that they have supported for so many years. I mean, everybody's saying the quotes on the on the web of of all the Democrats saying in the in the past ten years, we've got a secure that border. We've all seen that we hold on just a minute. We'll rep against the clock. We live. We'll be right back. Ben Cunningham Nashville party with us. And I'm Doug ellin Microsoft.

"This is the. Notice one week from today. What a week from tonight. It's the. Scheduled state of the union address. But what is the state of the union? State of the union. What what is the state of the state of the union? We don't know. Where's it going to be held? I mean, these are all questions, which we don't just a quick little update. We'll get back to your phone calls and not got the president's tweets here. The issue is is that Mansi Pelosi might disinvite Trump from delivering the state of the union inside the house of representatives chamber in which case. Well, Trump could go to the Senate chamber. Delivered from the Oval Office. I suggest the last week that the president ought to deliver the state of the union from the border, and I even suggested in Texas along the Rio Grande where ABC news has footage of illegals coming over on a raft with a smuggler just bringing them across and running across because there's no barrier. Fresno state of the union right there. But it's going to be interesting to see. Well, what the status the shutdown is going to be isn't going to be any resolution between now and the state of the union and will the state of the union occur as typically before. Congress before supreme court justices. I cabinet members. Chairman of the joint chiefs of staff supreme court justices will that happen or is it going to be in a different venue, the state of the state of the union again, it's up in the air. We just don't know the White House, by the way, they they did according to reports early today they did ask for a walk through. So the president's White House communications team and logistics team to do a walk through in the house of representatives chamber a week prior. So where do you see what happens whether the walk through? Is granted the White House though is saying that the state of the union will go on the question Mark is in what venue will the.

"That's where we are. And I don't know where we're going from there. Emily Mansi Pelosi has called for rescheduling state of the union either to have the president submitted in writing or to only give it after this shutdown is past is that a legit move. Or is that just pure theatrics? Or maybe both I of think both I think it's a way for Pelosi to signal that she just doesn't need Trump. And I mean, surely it plays. Well, at the democratic base to you know, basically like this him in this way. I can't imagine that we can't muster the security forces for the. Eight of the union on the other hand the government's really strained right now. And it's not as if it has to happen on that particular day, and to allow Trump to continue as if everything is normal when it's really not, you know, you can see why Pelosi would wanna call attention to the abnormality of the situation and just kind of shake up the political dynamic, John? What did you think of that move by Pelosi? I mean, it's a power response that has the patina or has the cover of being legitimate by the rules of the president's own arguments for why this shutdown is worth it. The president says there's an emergency. And if the emergency. Is such if there's such a big emergency. Then we can't afford the to to have the security for the state of the union. So she's using his own kind of argument against him. I it's either an emergency where it's not having the government shutdown. If it looks like basically, everything can kind of go along as normal than the pressure on him to cave lessons. And and I think she wisely makes the assumption that for him one of the he has not so far shown too much attention to the pressure of people not having their paychecks, the small business loans, not going out the White House this week reported that the economic impact estimate is twice as bad as they thought a quarter or a half point of growth that may be now gone because of the four weeks of shutdown that has not moved anything. But depriving the president of a of a huge platform may kinda hit him where he lives I want to just make one quiet quick point about that the president gave an Oval Office space. Each making the case in the biggest platform traditionally available for president for his policy. His numbers went backwards. The only other times that's happened or things where like Gerald Ford given Oval Office address about pardoning Nixon, and of course, that was when he announced that he'd done it and people revolted and so his numbers went backwards. But you've got to go back to Ford and accent in Vietnam have a situation where a president gives an Oval Office address gets a basically gets to hit the ball off. The tee is far as you know, possibly can. And his numbers get worse. There is this notion circulating in Trump world, Emily that this whole shutdown. Okay. Yes. There clearly political political damage that the Trump administration is bearing, but it's good because it's shrinking government. It's hurting the Democrats who work for the government. And it's not hurting the people who vote for Trump and really care about Trump. And that it's that it makes an ideological point. That will be good in the long run. Do you do? Do you think that is motivating the desire to continue to shut down? I mean, I hope not because it just doesn't seem like a good rationale. But I mean. Yeah. It's possible that that is what's going on though. Honestly, it's really hard to tell him in. This doesn't feel like it has some kind of rational endgame. If feels like a train that got started and Trump doesn't know how to get off it. And because the numbers are so good with the Republican base. He doesn't there's nothing yet. That's happened. That is going to jolt him out of his. Of the decision. He's already made. Yeah. I don't know. What it goes? What's going to do it? What's going to do it? I mean, you can imagine that a that some kind of air tragedy would do it. Yeah. Or the non inspecting food, right? Someone gets sicker. Dive. I was surprised that didn't. Yeah. I was surprised and not inspecting food hasn't had more resonance that that was the one..

"Lots more on the way, let's go to Brian in Pittsburgh. Erg about the wall. I Brian you're on Red Eye Radio. Welcome. Hi, good morning, gentlemen. How are you? Very good. Good. I just have a couple of points that I'm picking up all you guys are talking, and I'm just sitting here thinking, you know, the Trump presidency to Democrats, and his appointments to the supreme court the things that he's pushing through and the things that he's getting done. This is a political lifetime to the Democrats. They can't handle it. They're not gonna be able to undo it. You know with the possible passing eventually of of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, you know, however that may be gives him another supreme court pick the Democrats have to do everything in their power to get rid of him to say no to him on the wall to not give him a single thing. What he is doing is. He's building his platform. But the Democrats this is that it'll take them a political lifetime. To get rid of all of the things that he's done. So they have to try to be firm and say no from the door. They want him gone. They're doing everything in their power to to get him to go one way or the other to try to pay each of them to try to get them to resign to do things to to you know, throw a monkey wrench into his plans. They're trying to do everything they can because this is a political lifetime for them. If things go it's interesting with his base. It's interesting Brian that you make the parallel with the with the wall and the supreme court because we talk about the permanent things or the more permanent things in terms of government action. Any law can be reversed by the next congress and the executive order by the next president. But when you talk about Scotus those decisions for the most part with few exceptions are the ones that are long lasting. And certainly the seats on the highest court are going to be there for while. The next set of justices. Historically on the average are going to be there for decades. So then we talk about the wall, and it being that that permanent thing while it will take years to get it done. If it does get done. It will be not just something that is permanent likes go, but something tangible now, we're not going to be down there on the border looking at it every day. But it's something that will be present again, assuming that it it does get done. So it's an interesting parallel you, you know, not to throw water on this party. But my problem is not with the Democrats because I know where the Democrats stand. My problem is with the Republicans and the administration of not marketing to the American people are selling to the American people what they believe frustration because is is capable of building a consensus. I think he's he's got the skills to do it. There's a lot of uphill battles for him. Just because of who he is. And how much they hate him by he has done a lot. Of his own damage and didn't start early enough on my my thing is you can't do anything about what happened yesterday. There. Still is a great opportunity. Whatever happens with this shutdown to be promoting the fact that the Democrats are for open borders. Why aren't we hearing that every day from the president? Why isn't he challenging why isn't he challenging them this? And that's why I've said I believe all along that focusing on the wall in Mexico pain. Ford was wrong argument. You're you're not you're not fighting against Mexico. You're fighting against the Democratic Party who wants to open borders. Go ahead. Go ahead in in Trump is the type of person and has that personality to push those types of of. That's the yeah, that's his that's his thing with with a lot of the basin and even myself we'd like to see somebody that get stuff done. We wanna see somebody get in there and get it done because tomorrow or the next day and Don, and we want it done now. And frankly, I will take his behavior over the whole idea from Neil kavoodo. That we heard earlier of being an adult when when when I know this will happen. Here's here's the problem going forward, and we hate to make predictions, but historically speaking it's going to be a while before we see a president this aggressive on an agenda. I think never you may never see your president this aggressive like this again. And and and coupled with and with all the missteps that he's had that's the frustration that he's not accomplishing that he could have along the way that he I think individually or specifically is as you know, as a person has the skills to get done. We've we've been talking about this especially over the last couple of months, but here in recent days, especially trying to make the point that the frustration lies in the fact that I see this as as really the crossroads because if we don't get something done on border security. I mean, something big Don on border security, then it's not going to happen. I don't have confidence. It will happen in our. Lifetime. Probably not and in and I'm in my I'm in my early forties. And you know, I'm just like now getting into really into the politics part of everything. And you know, when you're growing up, you're you're out, you know, hanging out with your friends. Now. Listening to you guys. And thinking about the things that you know, these are things that are affecting me and my family now, where's my money? Guilt. Right. What do I want? Why did I elected? Yup. And you gotta get these you got to get these things done on the person. Like, I grew up from my dad, you either you either do or you don't right one or the other. There is no in between. Right. So you know, I know that Trump's not a a politician so to speak. You know what I mean? But he's been in politics part of it now for a while. He knows how to play the game. He knows how to you know, to to work people in to get things done. And he just needs to be able to get it done. Go out their push for it. I liked his address on, you know, last night on on TV and everything. And I thought he had a good message. I thought the Democrats I saw their rebuttal afterwards. I didn't think that they were. You know, they came out you like the feeling that. I got was I was being yelled at by my by my parents, right? My mom and dad were standing there. Looking at me. My mom's yelling at me. And my dad standing behind her saying, you know, don't you interrupt? Your mother is what is how I was looking at that. You know what? I mean. We're right. They're not. They're not giving you the the. You're not being well, they're not they're not being honest with you on the on the ideas. Look, Trump exaggerates and Trump doesn't tell the truth at times. But you know, that when he tells you about the what he wants in the issues, you know, he is being honest, Trump wants more security. He's not just saying now Hemed there may be misstatements that he makes there may be an accuracy is that he makes along the way he may say things that you know, we go. I'll please don't do. You don't need to say that. It's not true. It's not going to happen. You know, you're getting off your message. But when you actually look at what he wants. And what he you know, what he has said he wants overall he is intellectually honest about what he wants and the direction of what this country should go. If you look at the Democrats, the Democrats held opinions on illegal immigration as recently as three years ago, the complete opposite of what they hold. Today. Well, amir. Well, I mean, they why do they do that? Why did they say one thing three years ago? And then when it comes time to, you know, I'm I'm essentially saying Hussein thing that they are being Trump, and they're, you know, they're all hands off like, you know, looking the other way like I didn't say that you know, what I mean, right or or or Schumer Schumer. No, I said fence barrier. I didn't say a wall and get furious about it. And that's why I think that was the CBS reporter who got him on on that where he you could tell us getting flustered, which is like you want the president to do it. When the president was there with Nancy Pelosi and Schumer, and he had them both in the front of the cameras, and they didn't want to talk about it. He should've looked at them. And said, why don't you wanna talk about it? Are you afraid to talk about what you believe about border security in front of the American public. I'm not I think I think he had that the first time he had them in the Oval Office and invited the cameras in there. They put them on camera and everything and and Mansi Pelosi says, you know, I thought this was going to be a closed door session. We we don't wanna. To talk in front of the cameras while the while the cameras are here. What about the transparency I want to know what you guys are thinking? You know what I mean? But he should have to know what you're thinking. Right. The point is he should've hit them harder on it. And then not come out and said, well, I know we're all for border security. He gave him out when he didn't need to give them an out. And that's what's frustrating because I know that he can do it his speech last night his speech showed that he or two nights ago showed that he can do it. He can have the proper tone the proper seriousness to it. He can articulate the ideas and the facts behind it. We know he can do it. And he can do it like and be blunt and serious on issues that a significant portion of Americans don't want to confront, and there is an absolute clarity to what he said. And I want him to be that way. All the time. I may be. Too much because he is he is. But when you see where you know, where he can succeed where he succeeded on tax cuts where he succeeded on on his on his supreme court picks, and he succeeded and did a great job in a great tone. I thought overall right in supporting cavenaugh alter wild that when I see what he's when he when he talked about border security yesterday. And I said, wow, that's eight really really good. I want to see that all the time because you need that if you're going to defeat the Democrats you need to be consistent like he can be all the time. And so if people think I'm frustrated or refrigerated at times, it's not because we disagree. I mean, there's some things I disagree with Trump on most things I agree with them on the biggest frustration is not maximizing I believe his potential of what he can do to confront the, Democrats, and expose the Democrats. Like, no other. Republican president in my lifetime. Maybe except Reagan could have done he has the ability to do it. And he and he doesn't doesn't do it as often as I'd like him to do it. I I wonder if he's learning more along the way of how forceful he can be. You know what I mean? I was expecting, you know, this emergency shutdown and everything that that what's going on that he was going to put troops on the border. He was gonna do dune emergency declaration to go in and start building the wall. That's what I thought he was going to come out and do in a, you know, after listening to the news reports and everything, you know, I kinda got the gist that he was going to he was going to make his case to the American people that he wasn't gonna go that far yet. Do you guys think that he's gonna go that far? Do you think that it's it's it's game time, and he's not playing around anymore that he's learned throughout the past two years that now this is the way that I have to fight these guys because this..

"All they're gonna do is divide. Republicans and conservatives and make it harder for us to be effective. That's that's the lesson. I would learn from that one last question, John, we always appreciate the time. You're right. The democrats. Always always always circle the wagons. Even when the younger group of Democrats coming into the house weren't really fans of Mansi Pelosi. They shut up got in line in voted for. Why is that Republicans seem to be the ones that will do a shootout instead of circling the wagons? You guys are to be on the same side. What happens? That's another another great question. I think is we're we're more independent. I would say publicans and conservatives tend to be a for bottom up in terms of where the power and the influence comes from Democrats seem to be more top down. Yeah. And people do fall in line. It's amazing thing to watch. But it's just maybe one of the things that differentiates us, I don't mind independence as long as you guys are still in the same arena. I mean, the independent seems to be that we're going to go to the other side of the ok corral and shoot it. It's very strange to me, John. We always appreciate the hard work that you do in your fight to keep this this country safe. And I know it's going to continue for a while longer. I know I said last question, but do you have any any sort of an opinion as to win this is going to end, and we'll get something done. Well, tomorrow tell us a lot with with with the president says. Yeah, I think I think that'll help right now. I don't see any real indication that they that. The Democrats are serious about negotiating said this could be taken care of in an hour. Or less. It's not difficult. We do this sort of thing every day on difficult and contentious issues in congress because nobody gets one hundred percent of what they wanted in a democracy. "Time to refinance your house ever ten year treasury dropped down to two point five five percent. That's what happens when markets get fudgy. The money pours into treasuries the money people buy treasuries that forces down the interest rate and a lot of fifteen or thirty year interest rates for homes for refinancing or buying thus tumble. If you lock them in now. So you wanna call Andrew and Todd at triple eight triple eight eleven seventy-two today and say, hey, let's refinance my house. Let me call it. My debt I spent too much at Christmas. Or I want to buy a house where I wanna buy an investment property. I'm tired of the market goes up too much down too much. I haven't sold a thing. I never sell a thing. But triple eight triple eight eleven seventy-two if you wanna get a market start on the refinancing. Do it today there in the office today? They're wonderful people. I've known him for twenty plus years yesterday that big story with the Dow down six hundred and sixty points, the NASDAQ went down two hundred and two points and the s&p went down two points. Now, you might think is up the big story Mansi Pelosi taking the gavel. No, I praised that news in a long time ago. We knew that was happening. You might say the big news was that the shutdown in its third week. Now, we we know that intend to go a long time because Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer will not compromise. And I would like your opinions on who's to blame for this one eight hundred five zero one two three four I think it is squarely. A Schumer Pelosi shutdown. The president is asking for five billion dollars in border security some of that for border barrier. They're saying not enough and not in their first Bill. They will not build any border barriers. That's not compromise. That's that's a hostility to borders. Nancy Pelosi said walls are immoral. I guess she wants to take down the walls that we have built already. It is all on the Democrats if you're feeling pain, if you're one of the eight hundred thousand federal employees, you are furloughed at not getting paid that's because of Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer, and it has been from day one the president took the mantle he said, I'm going to shut the government down. And then he lateral to them. Send me a deal I can sign they will not this is not about Kevin McCarthy. It's not about Mitch McConnell that are in the room. Mitch McConnell has said he's not bringing up a Bill that doesn't have border security in it. So when and if Democrats want border security, and we all want border security, you want there to be no southern border. Anyone? I'd be able to walk across you know, what happened. We would take down the border security at Yuma where the highest concentration of it. Get it in San Diego. I've been through that border many many times on my way to kill wanna my church in California's sports an orphanage down there. Some housebuilding projects I know the border very well. We're not talking four hundred thousand people were talking about four million people a year without the fencing, and we need better fencing and more fencing along the southern border about between six and nine hundred miles of it, the two thousand miles of border and more than a thousand or impassable. So it's not a seat assigning fee thing. So who is responsible one eight hundred five zero one two three four. But as I said, Andrew and Todd dot com sponsored pre market report. And I'm going to do it again, our number three. But I I want to tell you everything is green everybody overreacted yesterday. Yes is up thirty four points this morning. The NASDAQ is up one hundred and twelve and the Dow's up two hundred ninety three this the week. We get back to normal. Don't go off and do panic felling. Please hear my audience. I love you. I've been talking to you for nineteen and a half years. I tell you the same thing never sell on a panic cake. Never do that. Maybe you're panicked because of this cut number one. Everybody be quiet. "Yeah. From the opinion pages of the Wall Street Journal. This is Potomac watch Mansi Pelosi becomes speaker of the house of representatives for the second time rare and remarkable political achievement bringing in the new democratic majority. What should we expect from the Pelosi congress, and how it deals with Donald Trump President Trump, plus the first task for the new speaker is the partial government shutdown that continues now pushing towards all beginning of its third week. How long is it going to last meeting at the White House on Friday said the both sides had the stalemate continues. Welcome. I'm Paul zhigo with Wall Street Journal here with my colleague, Bill mcgurn hill. Bill Hypo, Kim strassel Hake him Hypo. So let's let's before we get to the shutdown melodrama. Let's get to speaker Pelosi. I. I think that when you think about it. She was it's very rare. I think Sam Rayburn was the last speaker in the sixties he was speaker the sixties to have regained power in fifties. And sixties regain power as speaker the house after losing it. The waste Nancy Pelosi did this week. And she was of course, speaker for four years from two thousand six to two thousand excuse me, two thousand six what's. Yeah. Two thousand six to two thousand ten and now she will have another two years after routing any critics, and and and competition after you recruit it, I think Cam for just being such a formidable political figuring consolidating support. She is a stair no question. When obviously they won back. Over there were a number of Democrats who had outright campaigned said that they would never vote for her for speaker that was a an electoral promise, they made to their voters many of them reneged on that. And in fact, did vote for her and she managed to get that support with minimal having to trade much away at all a kind of a nothing burger promised that she would only serve four years, but the truth is we don't know where things will stand even two years from now and four years for someone that has been around as long as MRs Pelosi is probably more than enough time because people have been talking about how she was, you know, needed to step aside. Anyway, so she didn't pay much there were fifteen members in the end who voted no, they were probably given a pass because some of them did come from districts where they had made that promise, but she came out on top you do. So you're saying that the they will not be found in their car somewhere. Or or their arms will not. But they will not be their bodies will not turn up the Potomac river somewhere down the the line. It's interesting though, that I mean, she did have the leeway to to say that the the fifteen to give the fifteen a pass. But I'll bet you. She remembers that Bill. I don't think she's going to forget those names, and they could be mired in the banking committee lower reaches for many many years. Yeah. I mean, you, and I thought and Kim I think belief from the beginning from the election that she would win speaker do what she needed to do to get elected. And that said, it is interesting to me which won by three votes. I think right. She had the margin. She knew she knew what she needed. And so she let the other people off the hook one of them with my represented, Mikey, Cheryl, you know, who would running in a formerly renew jersey and there so some of the people, However, I do wonder if. That's a problem for you know, when she was speaker last time, it was clear she was going to be around for a long time. When people think of boss is not going to be there for a long time. It it might make for a little more difficulty in the ranks. Well, but later on when it comes to certain thing. It's interesting though, she had the first challenge she received part from the votes to get speaker were for the rules package that the Democrats together every time you have a new congress house and Senate create their own rules for how to govern the body. And in this case, they created the gonna restore something called pays Yoho budgeting, which is says that if you Adnew spending you have to find cutlass else. It's almost always honored in the breach. Right. It almost never followed. But Democrats say that though, you were pay as fiscal conservatives, but some on the left some of the fr..
