"So unless they're all assholes, you know, they have their opinions for one reason or another. Now, numerically, I can count. I can do the math. He's got Hall of Fame statistics. I understand that. And I could be wrong, but I've never voted for anybody that I suspected was cheating on the PEDs on the steroids, whatever. He did fail a drug test. His career path was very suspicious and I never voted for bonds, Clemens, palmero, Maguire, Sosa, down the line. And I wasn't going to just because he's a hometown guy, changed my standards on this. So I understand I'm the jackass in this. I get it. You know, but like max says, you know, I'm not the one who hit the positive PED test. So anyway, those are my standards. I understand those who vote differently, don't care that. To tell you the truth, it'd be a lot easier if Major League Baseball got rid of these standards character clause, and you're supposed to consider these other things and just went by the numbers. It'd be so much easier to vote for Hall of Fame on that football does that. O. J. Simpson's in the Hall of Fame. Who cares? You know, that's it. I mean, his numbers are his numbers. He's in the Hall of Fame. If baseball did that, I would vote for all these guys, because like I said, I can count. I know David Ortiz Barry Bonds Mark McGuire have Hall of Fame numbers. I think the first question I have for you, Dan, is where's the transparency, right? Because we know that he tested positive, but we don't know exactly what he tested positive for. Now, in the past, he's talked about that. He said that he would love to know, but I'm thinking what's the difference between now and what 7 9 ten years ago where he could have won his own personal investigation or hired somebody. Or two, where's Major League Baseball with that transparency, saying, this is what he that's a positive point. Well, max knows this as well as any as any athlete, you know, within the games, there's guys that get preferential treatment and guys that get favored more than other guys. That's just the nature of the world. And Major League Baseball loves David Ortiz. He's Santa Claus. He's good for the game. They're kind of they're struggling to have a young audience. They're struggling to get a market share of the sports pie. And so that they can ill afford to turn away from a guy who's as popular as he is. So he basically got a presidential partner from the commissioner of baseball for a positive test. The other guys that tested positive that were named in that were Sammy Sosa, Alex Rodriguez, and Manny Ramirez. None of them got the same presidential pardon. David Ortiz got it. So whatever I understand and this is just the way it goes. So baseball loves him and he loves him back and he's going to the Hall of Fame and good for him. So my little vote didn't matter in neither did the other 87 guys who didn't vote for him. Well, it does matter..

"He's stirred up the pot a little bit when it came out on Tuesday that he didn't vote for one David Ortiz. He didn't vote for anybody for the Hall of Fame except Jeff Kent. And if you're telling me that Jeff Kent belongs in the baseball Hall of Fame over David Ortiz, given how much uncertainty there was regarding steroids and help me out here. Performance and hand PEDs. How much uncertainty there was over PEDs and the testing and that's what a lot of writers like myself feel about baseball in this era. There's so much unknown. Yes, a couple of tests come back positive and the rules were set. And that's why you have to come down hard as Chad Jennings said on my Red Sox meet podcast last week. He said, that's why he comes down hard on Alex Rodriguez and Manny Ramirez because they broke the rules after the rules were definitively set in place. But in the early 2000s late 1990s, there was so much of a gray area that Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa, Mark McGuire, Roger Clemens, even, you know, Jeff Kent's name has never been mentioned with it, but his numbers took a major spike up at that point. You know, all of these great names thrown into the pot with the PED big question mark hanging over baseball. You know, you can say if you want that practically everybody was doing it, which I don't think that's fair because I think there were still a lot of players who went to the weight room, they did what they could to strengthen their body, but they weren't going to take any of the stuff, not because they didn't want to break the rules or bend the rules, but because they were concerned about what it would do to their body long-term. Long story short, I'm rambling here. I think it's ridiculous that Dan shaughnessy would not vote for David Ortiz, but would put Jeff Kent in the Hall of Fame. What is the deal with Jeff Kent? Why Jeff Kent? Well, let me bring up the numbers. I don't remember a ton of Jeff Kent's career. I can't remember him at the end..

"Welcome back to the ink sky yard podcast. The JD drew contract, right? That was a huge failure. But then in 2007, JD drew hit a Grand Slam to bring the Red Sox to the World Series. Can we think of any others? The Red Sox trading Manny Ramirez. Yeah, trading your beds player and franchise history, but no Jason bay's there, and he's somehow better than Manny Ramirez. The Red Sox trade Adrian Gonzalez and Josh Beckett to the Dodgers in a complete fire sale. They're giving up. They're waving the white flag while it doesn't matter. It gives them the financial flexibility to sign 7 bad players in the 2013 off season Shane victorino who was never good again after 2013. Johnny gums, who would never get again after 2013, Mike Napoli, who was never good again after 2013. Koji O'Hara, who was never good again after 2013, and they all lined up to win the 2013 World Series. I am beyond done with Red Sox fans acting as if every time they get a magical break, it is the first time that ever happened. I'm not saying Red Sox fans aren't owed something. Red Sox fans and you're going to want to clip this Red Sox fans. Red Sox fans are a good fan base. They're very passionate about good winning baseball. And when they need to bring the noise, they do. That's good. They are, however, Teflon, nothing sticks to them, they feel no pain and they create their own pain for situations that don't merit pain. And they continue to be rewarded in differing cycles with championship ish endings and good mojo endings. And Yankee fans pour their heart and soul into this team and never end up with the ending. Not it's been it's been 12 years. The regime is the same, the players are different. The regime can reload up to a certain point and pull people together and end up in playoff esque scenarios and end up flatlining again when the moment is at its biggest and brightest. And like I said earlier, I can't wait to see who the Yankees acquire and sign this off season who ends up disappointing while the Red Sox sign or acquire a lesser option who ends up succeeding. That's what I can't wait to. How is Corey Seager going to fail? Is he gonna start swinging and missing more after we sign him? Has Trevor's story gonna fail. Is he gonna sign a 7 year contract and then start arguing with the New York media and then come down with plantar fasciitis? Like, what is the outcome? What's gonna happen? It's always exciting to see. Are the ink he's gonna trade Luke Voight within the American League and he's gonna end up hitting 47 homers for the Oakland a's next year while the Yankees have DJ le mayhew at first base hitting two 64 with 12 homers. Is that what's going to happen? That's pretty interesting. Are they going to trade geo Rochelle? Does somebody want him? And then we're going to go, we have enough infield death. We don't need you or shallow, and then Corey Seager and Andrew Velasquez are the left side of the infield by June. Is that what's going to happen? It's always intriguing, which brings me to Aaron Boone versus not even versus Alex core. Just Aaron Boone in general, who say out like he was gone as soon as this game ended, but then again, this organization only seems to care about getting exactly where they got yesterday..

"You are on the nationals and then you get traded to the dodgers you're in the same league. Oh you're making you're talking about yeah. No yes switching teams has nothing to do. I thought you're talking about dark. i'm at altitude. Yeah no yeah no yet. Trading being traded to a different team has that ever happened before. Has that happened that someone got traded and and won the mvp even though they played for two different teams. But they're in the same league. No i don't think so. That would be elias question. Doctor claw question. I don't i don't have that information off your thought we were getting crazy and talking about a guy putting up. Mvp numbers in a league getting traded to a team in another league in him winning that mvp in the lead and he came from. That's why i got really crazy and took it to the next level and was like fuck it. What's let him win the league. Mvp that he left and if he's doing that in a half season then why can't he win the mvp in the other league because of ridiculous second half he has that ever been done. Probably not right. You're not gonna get the you're going to be punished for lack of at bats in a league right. Fire the closest that i can recall. They're not going to let that performance transcend leagues like those spoken homers or not rollover homers. Right you don't get to take him from the hale to the correct. The closest that i think i ever saw someone come to winning the mvp after getting traded to a different league was manny ramirez in two thousand eight to the fogging the doors manny ramirez in two thousand eight. They went to the dodgers. He played in fifty three games. Hit three ninety six with a twelve thirty two. Oh p s do it. Manny seventeen homers. Fourteen doubles do it as many We didn't even touch on this when we were talking about the american league. East some of little issues. That are that are going on yankees tie on on the i l..

"Some guys have that four layer of whatever it is, it could be as wrong as it can be. But then all of a sudden it just endears them to the fans in a way that even our look at a guy like Big Papi is a great. As you know, all these other Red Sox players, were I still look at some people right now, in this generation think that Big Papi was maybe the greatest Red Sox they ever played the game. Well, Big Papi was a great, great player and him in Manny together. They were the most dynamic middle-of-the-order hitters since garrigan Ruth, right? So if you take, if you take a look at the record book them, know to hitters as good as Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz during their time here. And that's, that's one reason the Red Sox, win those championships, right? You got those two guys in the middle of the lineup. That's a two-headed monster, right? Are you going to pitch to The left-handed power hitter? It's patient at the plate or you going to pitch to The righty? You know, and those guys were big time difference makers, but yep. you could say that David Ortiz was one of the Great Red Sox players, the Big Girls Club that Your casket on your white ladies. And gentlemen, I have a great gift that you can't hear. What, what, what time do you want to go by? Because you said Red Sox Hall of Famer. That'll do it. That's how we'll start that with. All right? Thank God. You know, I want to ask you a question because you you're you've been in this whole practice of front office. So what did you think about Brad Stevens? Moving to the front office from the comb to stay in with the Celtics? Well, I love Danny Ainge, right? I mean, you want to look at a guy that had a career. Here's a guy. "Well i guess he doesn't so much anymore but you don't me like joe. He came from a different place to. I think it's more just the individual personality. Honest i really do. Yeah that's true. But i also think that there is like there's kinda something to when like your personality kind of comes out a different way When you move to a different country to and like the kind of different tools that you have to navigate that like with with embiid. I think the thing that was like that makes him kind of like the ultimate immigrants story is that he is like the master imitator of all things like he can just he. He obviously picked up on the language really quickly but like the thing that he he did which like i know from like people around me. Very difficult to do is actually like picking up like the humor Being able to like be sarcastic immediately being able to role in that like in the same kind of the same thing on the court to write like he like the master of just like you know he got better very quickly because you could just watch things and do them and he obviously very hard at the same time but like there's just like improvement ability that you had like i think he kind of like just integrate himself in a different way and i don't know maybe honest didn't necessarily want that. He seems so much more just like about his family. That's why i'm actually replace it again. I'm really excited to read mirren's book and actually learn more about the guy because i really feel like as a result of all this stuff that we're talking about your fast. Yeah yeah and we don't really know a lot about him as a person other than the fact that he is like family oriented loyal and dedicated But there isn't you know. I don't why is on the way that he is like. That's just a story that like because of all this stuff. Because we haven't known him forever we just don't know yokich reminds me of yokich in that regard. Yes you know about yokich you know. And that guy's been unbelievable. He was the this this. Mvp and i mean when he kept saying you know. I i think that's nice. I really don't know if he really cared the way somebody here who grew up in the us played a you and talked about it all the time. I don't know maybe there is some. Yeah yeah we. I guess there's like these pillars right like you grow up with the idea like i can kind of see. It was with The way the for example. Prom right canadians. We don't have prompt. don't care about prom. Don't know what it what it is. It's so lucky tonight. So lucky us but for for for an for a high school athlete like you know like making the all star team making the all. Nba team all these individual accolades. Mvp's like like and then like even the smaller level. Mcdonald's all american and just like getting invited to this tournament that tournament where you compete against. And like you've got these probably grudges that you've built from a very young age. Those are like. I mean it's just different. You're like you've been part of the culture. You're just way more influenced by it. I think it's only natural. Obviously there are exceptions to that. As you said jackie but it's just like that the environment i think just would naturally have it have its toll on anybody right like just he didn't grow up with those flagpoles. Like this is what i'm gonna you know. Be when i grow up. you know. It reminds me of jacky when when we finally had a red sox team that had the stones to fend off the carson win the world series. And they were only called the idiots and it was yes either these guys that were just immune to everything because they were all lunatics or guys not born in america who could like manny ramirez. Didn't care what a curse was. He's not from. Here is the same thing and we had all these guys that just you know the eighty six team which came within one strike of winning the world series thirteen times it had like the catchers from worcester by he got it he understood reported get it. Yeah that wonder. Yana says like these are moments. Where the player that grew up here and watch the finals. This whole life would be like. Oh my god we're about to choke against the nets and they don't have kyrenia on one leg. And i can't believe it and you're just thinking about it for two days stuff. The waste of bounced off. Him has been amazed the free throw thing like his attitude about being a relatively shitty free thrower but yet being able to make thirteen seventeen in a finals game. I don't know i. I admire a lot about the guy's really won me over the last couple of months. Yeah you just hope. He doesn't get spoiled right. It just hope folk pope. He doesn't get spoiled. Because you remember so many of these guys when they first come into the league and how young they are and how wide eyed at they are and how much how joyful they are and how much fun they are to talk with and then success happens and then more importantly disappointment happens because that's when they get jaded because why don't they love me all the time and that's all you know and that's the thing about johnson's since pretty cool. There's been a lot of disappointment early on here and questioning and and that rolls off his back to the opposite. End of end of that with similar results as devon booker. Right like guy who has been steeped in. nba culture. Pretty much like from the moment he was born as like not only the unique thing about booker is not only the did he love playing basketball but he also loved basketball history and like really cared about who's in the nba and like who how how they navigated and he's talked about things like you know studying the playoffs and stuff And ironically with him. I feel like the knowledge of all of that has actually helped him like. I think we've all talked to agree how. He's not surprised by anything right like he just for for a guy in. I playoffs guys to obviously been around. Have you seen anybody go from like being on a team. That just didn't really do much of anything to making his first playoff being in the finals. In like being this this poise. I don't really think i've seen it before. And i think it's like he said something like after after. They beat the lakers and six at like they don't want it to go to seven because he studied before and he knows what happens when you go to seven and obviously like you know anything can happen in a game. Seven but Yeah there's a lot of moments these playoffs where it feels like. He's just.

"Bring home with their families. My wife's like he lived in this house twenty years. You know what? Kind of paper towels we use. Like I'll do you one better. I don't even know where we keep the paper towels. They're not right, but I think I use my t-shirt now. What? What? Release, variety of paper towels? Did she really want you to get a new? Do not remember after having that hard experience know. So behind the scenes of that joke is yeah, my wife just came home and took The third time, buying the wrong kind, she just held him up. She, why do you keep doing this? And I'm like, doing what? Like, you keep buying the wrong kind and I'm like, it doesn't matter. It's a paper towel like, yeah. And then she said, no, I like this kind of, all right? And then you go back and the quicker, picker-upper, you go, you don't let your wife, you go to your notebook and write something down, you know, my wife makes a very specific list and she doesn't just say shouldn't just say cuz I've done the same thing paper towels, she's like, oh, these are the cheap fines, you know, you know, she'd make a list and say, which kind it is and it has a this picture on. I mean she's a very specific. I have her. I have mine send me screenshots of exactly what it is. If I have a question mark about, like, so, what's the difference between the three of them? Which one you want? Just send me a picture of my wife will do the exact same thing with the yogurt. Cuz I have two girls now, one is twenty. And one is, let's say younger than 20, she's probably 18. Yep. And they're very specific into the yogurt. They want a job. And it's it's a nightmare. That's just the wall of yogurt and you have to bring this home if you bring you've ruined their week. You know, when it comes to Yogurt, it's a whole different culture and that's why boys are easier. Cuz boys, really don't care. You can, if they say bring home cheese, you bring home cheese or going to eat whatever you put in for. Yeah, it's Chase. Got damaged. What is that? Jesus ate the cheese? That's generically to. I used to go to the Stop & Shop stores, you know, they had their jobs and, and back in the day, they had their brand and there was a, a thing called Stop & Stop Shop, right? It's at ShopRite beer. Dot said, didn't say lager or pilsner or anything about generic beer? This is how old I am ShopRite beer so I can give me some beer. I don't imagine what that must have seemed like, just a cut below. It was beer. That's this couple of shape. You're in college again and the guy you don't care. If someone brings ShopRite beer, like yeah, throw me one of those. Anybody. Yeah, well I was drinking out of a cave down in Florida with at the fantasy camp, fish was standing next to the the cake literally for three hours and I don't know if he's kept pouring beer into his cup over and over and over again for 3 hours. Finally, he he hits are he opens the thing that goes? He says I guess it's time to go to bed bath. That should have that kind of limit on your life. I'm working a cruise ship down in Tampa and I walked by where the Yankees have their spring training. Yeah. And the gates are open and there's people in this cheering and it's, you know, whatever 10:00 in the morning, and I go home. Walk up, no one stopped me. So I'm like, see what's going on. And there was the Yankee Fantasy Camp was going on and it's one of the funniest things I've ever witnessed in my life. Middle aged fat, man, stuffed into Yankee uniforms with Yankees Legends, just standing out the field, not giving a shit, a coat on and all the campers look like stump Merrill. You know I did that experience. It was it was I did meet a lot of good, good guy but I tell you are so sore. You don't realize what baseball does to your muscles until you try to leg out a an infield hit yeah at age whatever that's a terrible thing at age whatever when you're not doing that anymore. Jim Charities from Wakefield Massachusetts he's a comic he's very very good. We will gladly appreciate you coming down here. Did you guys happen to see the LeBron James incident where he yelled at the at the announcer the court basketball court? You see that video. Yes it is kids game. Yes his son brownie brownie. Bronny James LeBron has a son named Ronnie Ronnie. Okay, Brandon speaking of the quicker Pig Upper Brownie and he and he screamed at his kid. Well, he was at the end at the announcer. The announcer said, he, there was a foul and the announcer said something like, well, I guess you get those calls when your name is on the arena cuz it was LeBron. James built the arena that they that his son plays in which is a is a good line. I would say the same thing. Sure. Yeah, I hate went over and started yelling at him. He he got up and walked and start yelling at the announcer for saying such a thing. Of course, you know, it's LeBron James the game mind you to do. Yes. Now, if I'm the announcer, you have the microphone and I would say, we need to get LeBron Jame s scores out of the LeBron James gymnasium. Right now, he's scaring me. Yeah. It's, it's charity to kick him out of the gym. He purchased unbelievable. So, I was just wanting me to. I've never been to LeBron off the recent. Yeah, when I was, I guess you could watch it on the radio for for hating on LeBron, and hating on Manny Ramirez. And I, the reason I hated on Manny Ramirez because he's lazy. You know, he never I mean he didn't play defense, he didn't hit triples, he didn't run hard, he just hit and he's great hitter. Oh yeah, yeah. But with LeBron you can get away with being lazy and baseball. Oh sure, you off. Oh yeah, it's especially depending on your position but with LeBron, it's like hello, I won the lottery, the body Lottery, and I'm six foot eight with that with that, unbelievable and all those basketball skills. Sometimes he thinks that he's God. Like and the joke is, you know what's difference between Jesus and LeBron James? Well, Jesus, Jesus doesn't walk around La pretending LeBron James, you know? But you you I don't LeBron. We've been hearing about this kid since he was thirteen. Yeah, that was on covers of Sports Illustrated. So, of course, he's going to be a giant douche bag oil. No, man. It's just, we, we raised them in the press and, and he's gone on to win championships now. So I can only imagine that's makes it worse. Yeah. Yeah. But now he's has to take take on the political and piss off a lot of people by, you know, wage Okay, LeBron and, you know people say shut up and dribble and all that stuff. Well, just pick your spots a little better, you know, especially at, you know, you're being videotaped that game. I'm with, I put basketball any pro athletes along with supermodels. You know what I mean? Like, we don't need to hear you spin. A Christian act, exactly actors and musicians, we don't, you know, we don't need to hear you speak. Just do what you've been trained to do and let's move on when it'd be great. If politicians couldn't speak and had to use sign language all the time. Would that be so unbelievably fabulous and would you watch, have you been watching this? There's no joke at the end, if you watching, you know they always have assigned person at next year. So the press conference is going on with the the condos that collapse down in Florida. Yeah, in the lady, I Can't Take My Eyes Off the lady, who's doing sign language, you think because it's very tragic and she's just really making faces and going back and forth. Yeah, I'm not keep this on. We gotta watch her a little longer. You get a little bugger in the end of your nose and you grab it with your babies finger, you could be dead. An awful World War. Some, you don't know what you're saying these people. You know, it's unbelievable. I'd like to learn sign language. I know this we're doing this on, on the radio. I mean on audio this is work. See what I'm doing with my fists song. That's called work this hand across the chest that means love. Yeah, this means fuck you pretty much that as a middle finger. We all know that one, but I'd like to learn sign language honest to God. I think I would really have no interest. I think I would do pretty well with the hearing impaired women because they then they would have to list me. Yeah, so when I work cruise ships, sometimes they have hearing hearing impaired people off the ship and.

"Table because I'll tell you it was a surprise to our organization, which represents 1700 men and women, uh, in football Texas, and it was a surprise of county organizations, too. So I I think that you know, while I do understand the goals and I understand, um, you know, trying to to be re formative. I also understand that whenever you are in the middle of one of the Uh most drastic increases in violent crime in art history. Now is not the time to focus our energy on things like that are energy should be squarely focused on reducing violent crime. Talking with Sergeant many Ramirez, president of the Fort Worth Police Officers Association. So am I to understand that you had no heads up. No discussion. No input on these new policies. Yes, sir. That's correct. Wow. There's there's a There's an area of law enforcement that I think needs to be reformed. That makes no sense to me because the D A has to work with the police, and the police have to work with the D A. Or you can't have those two entities on separate pages. Um, is there any explanation as to why something like this would pass without? Like I said, giving a heads up to law enforcement. Well, I know that I know that the artist attorney does a good job at meeting with our chief of police. And then there's 41 separate police departments inside of Terran County. So obviously, obviously the D a. Can't speak to every single one of them individually. In our large cities are going to. We're going to choose to operate under the policies that we operate under. And I have no indication um, from our chief of police that we're going to adopt this policy, but ultimately Like I said, making it so public and coming out and saying that this is a new policy in Tarrant County was troubling on its face because it sends the wrong message. We talk about how we can support our police. And how we can drive down these violent crime rates and there's really There's really three elements to that equation. Number one is you have to. You have to make sure you're adequately staffed Number two. You have to make sure that the police officers had the resources they need and the tools they need to do the job. Number three is you have to send a visible, uh and and an audible signal to society that were tough on crime, but that you will not victimize our communities in Fort Worth, Texas. You will not victimize our communities in Tarrant County. And that's how you do it. That's how you win We've done. We don't need to reinvent the wheel here, Rick. We did it back in the late eighties early nineties and we can do it again. Sergeant Manny Ramirez, president of the Fort Worth Police Officers Association again, My thanks for jumping on with me. Uh, you know, I just hated to see that in Tarrant County. We've come to expect that in Dallas County because we've got such a brain trust in the Dallas City Council, and I'm pretty sure I'm not on their Christmas card list. "I'm poppy. Close. No, I don't know. Manny Ramirez. One, okay. Uber talented. There's a ton of work behind the scenes. On on the on the field on the ice just makes it look so easy because he's so talented, kind of a goofball, a bit of a goofball in a bit of a goofball. He is the Manny Ramirez of the Bruins. And and I say, This is someone who loved Manny Ramirez growing up. Oh, yeah, that swing fantastic year sewing. Oh, my goodness. My goodness. Anyways, let's talk a little bit about vacations s Oh, my wife and I'm like we have a place that we normally tend to go for New Year's every year, Okay? And earlier this spring, I was looking at booking it and I saw rates moving up over the course of the spring. To the point where when I started looking in February, they were about twice what they normally work. When I finished looking in April, they were triple what they normally were okay. Went back in the last week just to say okay, let me let me take a look at this and see if we can do it. Completely sold out. Scott gone. This is seven months in advance. Okay. Wow. Seven months in advance. The place is completely sold out. Never seen it before. What kind of experiences are you seeing when you're starting to look around at travel prices this year compared to what you've seen in the past, so I don't have a great read on prices. But there's certainly aren't any Discounts to be found out that I have, You know, I like often times I felt like Hey, I was looking for a weekend in this area and oh, yeah, that hotel is actually offering like a pretty sweet discount. Go buy two. Get one night free. Yeah, and that's just that's gone. On any of the discounts that you saw on the airlines or, you know, remember last year like they would wave the bunch of the fair rules in terms of how changes and all that stuff that stuff's gone. You know the economy fares. I kind of forgot about this because it's been so long since I've flown but remember, basic economy. Good old basic economy where you book it, and you think that is back? Which I still really want to push the envelope on because They will allow me father of a two year old and to four year olds to book basic economy for my entire family, and I will be very fascinated. You give me the person who tries to force someone to not six. Next sit next to when your four year olds, aren't you? Well, I'm like, I'm not going to do that, because that seems like a terrible thing to do, and it apply scar my Children to just be abandoned them in a different part of the plane. But wouldn't it be fascinating to see what the airline does when I booked that base economy fair, and they say, No, your two year old has to go sit next to this business class back there. You know this business flyer. He's going on to his business trip to Phoenix, Arizona right now, like I'm really interested to push the other eggs. I hate that. I hate that we've gotten to that point with with fares. Um Where was I going with this stuff's expensive stuff's expensive and there are shortages to it. It comes back to my point, too, though, that clearly we're seeing this demand and I don't know. To your point that things are selling out at this point. I don't know how much of that is just that demand is so through the roof that things were selling out versus hotels. Still perhaps setting aside rooms that they're not booking out, but they don't have the labor to facilitate those rooms like I think there's some of that going on in places like the Cape right now, and the islands where they just quite literally can't clean the room. They can't step up quickly enough on restaurants. I'm hearing this to write like you used to be open for lunch and dinner. It's now just dinner because I can't find the people. So some of that is existing. All of this kind of plays into me where I go back to a point We talked about earlier, which is we're seeing all these shortages of physical supplies of stuff, you know, computer chips or the big one semiconductors that have really big lumber. But lawyers, plastics, all sorts of different stuff is we're seeing shortages and The number of vacation bookings indicates to me that I think some of those shortage they're going to start making their way through the system soon because you you just can't have people spending You know thousands and thousands of dollars on appliances, as well as thousands and thousands of dollars on Disney trips. It just the math doesn't work. You can't travel in your toaster. That's not what I was blind, but yeah, Fair point my bad. Because when I think about inflation We talked about this over and over again. Inflation is a beast that can kill all asset classes. But frankly, that the type of inflation that we've been talking about To me doesn't have me all that spooked because if you have labor inflation, for instance, because of shortages there, Yeah, you're seeing wages going up. But again, you are seeing that money usually going right back into the economy, unless something about covert has changed our savings rate permanently, which I very much doubt. Then you're seeing that money Go back in the stuff that spooked the heck out of me was the shortages right for shutting down assembly plant because they can't get ships new home builders stopping production cause they don't know how to price the homes or price lumber boat manufacturers not being able to get plastic parts to go in and therefore not take not making delivery on these things. That's what spooked me, and it still has me a little bit concerned. And I'm hopeful that you know all of these things that we're seeing in the services and entertainment industry. Indication that we're about to get through that real bottleneck that we're experiencing in some other areas. Folks. Elder life planning can be overwhelming, and if you aren't prepared, it could lead to mistakes along the way, and those mistakes can be very costly. Standby for viewers on Page six. The rumor mill is hot about Albert Pool halls. Is there any chance he can come to the White Sox Angels? Cut him And what do you think, Dave? I don't think so. I mean, I guess it's always possible because of his connection with Tony LaRussa. But The teams, you would immediately think of would be the White Sox and the Cardinals because he still has a home in ST Louis and had so much success there, but Where you gonna play him? There's no D H in the National league, And they have Paul Goldschmidt at first base with the Cardinals and with white socks. You've got a brave but first you've got your main Mercedes off to a great start. D h ng. There doesn't seem to be a fit and he if he wants to be a starter, which is the deal, that's why he's that's why happy right? That's why he's unhappy. Joe Maddon says he would not accept a reserve role with the Angels, and there's They don't have a place to play him. So I anything's possible and again. We mentioned this earlier. The White Sox have a track record of picking up some guys at the end like Griffey, and like Manny Ramirez, but I assume much as Tony LaRussa may admire and may have a great relationship with pool halls. I just can't see it. But Tony wants him. Well, he can convince rains door If this you think I don't know team that didn't have championship aspirations than if there This was a team that was headed to 1/4 place. Finish, then maybe, But if you want to win a title, Hmm. Well, pull holes. I mean, sax need outfield help, but pull hoses 41. And he played the outfield, but not what 15 years ago. More all right? Our phone number is 877 44 Mitch or Twitter said at Mitch Album Show. Now here's Mitch. We thought we might warm you up a little bit in this cold weather by talking a little bit of baseball. JP Marosi, Fox Sports and MLB Network joins us. JP, How are you? Bitching can always a pleasure. And as a loyal, free press leader of beautiful column by you, Mitch on the great Larry King over the weekend. Thanks for that. Yeah, he was one of a kind for sure. So reason we're talking to you today is because the Hall of Fame voting Took place for baseball, and nobody got in on now. Curt Schilling has basically said, You know what? Just take remove my name from consideration here. Barry Bonds again. Roger Clemens again not getting in. But some of this stuff in perspective kind of walk through those people and tell us what's the deal with each one. Well, there's a lot going on and obviously shilling. His statement last night was a little surprising, considering it was the person who got the most votes. And while he was 16 shy of election, if if Were advising him. I would say that his better chance is to stand the ballot one more year and see if maybe 16 people change their minds or the electorate changes before next year's ballot. But it really is now to the point, guys where It's a very real possibility, depending on what happens with Shillings request, which the Hall of Fame is going to consider as the board of directors in the coming months, but it looks right now with very bonds and Clemens and 61%. I do not see a dramatic change in the voting process for them by this time next year, and that's their last chance. And given what we have heard from veteran players were in the Hall of Fame. I think right now their chances of the Veterans Committee are extremely low, so I would say right now as we speak today. The overwhelming likelihood is very bonds and Roger Clemens never get into the Hall of Fame. One is the number of this or audience knows that you need to get in. So 75% is required, and Curt Schilling got 71% bonds and Clemens and 61. Scott Rolen was the next 52, of course next year. The first timers include David Ortiz and Alex Rodriguez. Ah, lot of robust debate to come, but it's a very high bar to be able to hit that number. I'm a voter. I typically and again this year voted for 10 players because I'm generally speaking a big, tall guy. And I liked the sea. Players stand the ballot for years and be considered, but obviously it was a shut out this year and and the one positive part of that reality is that at least Derek Jeter, Ted Simmons and Larry Walker will get their moment that they were denied last year. So if if, um bonds and Clemens are getting because the steroids and I guess you were saying that Curt Schilling, the 60 more balls basically on 300 volts and bonds and Clemens, where I'd like to 50 so they would need 50 votes is a ride also on his list of steroid guys for next year, and that he probably wouldn't get in either. Well, that's a great question. Can I think that a rod will get under 50% on his first time on the ballot? Of course, you have 10 years to do it. Have been a voter for Bonds and Clemens. I vote for them every year. I believe that they are the best players of an inherently flawed era. I find it difficult that from their same era players who perhaps used CDs are already in the Hall of Fame and and to me, I find that to be inconsistent. But where I do find their greater consistency and clarity was that in 2005 baseball and the union got together and said, We're now going to start Suspending players who have used PDS and so my approach since then has been if you are someone who has tested positive and then suspended for it. I do not vote for you, so I don't vote for Manny Ramirez. I have not voted for Rafael Palmeiro. And by the same standard, I would be a Noah's well for a Rod Robinson Cano and Ryan Braun as well. So let's go to Curt Schilling back to him for a second. He got as you said, the most votes from anybody here he is not And has never been accused of juicing or using steroids. He wrote this long, rambling letter, which is not unusual for Curt Schilling, basically saying, I want to be out of Consideration, and I'm not going to participate next year and take my name off and lose my number and blah, blah blah, he wrote. I'm I'll defer to the Veterans Committee and men whose opinions actually matter. Who are in a position to actually judge a player. That's a dig it the writers who vote for this thing like yourself. I don't think I'm a Hall of Famer as I've often stated, but a former players think I am, then I'll accept that with honor. Then he goes on to say, I'm now somehow, in a conversation with two men who cheated, and instead of being accountable, they choose to destroy others lives to protect their lie. I will always have something they forever chase a legacy. So what's going on with him? And we want? Why are people Why is he falling short? Is it his politics? Which clearly very right wing is it? Is it his personality when he was playing? Is it letters like this? Well, it's a great question, Mitch and I do believe that And it's certainly and shillings case goes beyond politics. These are these are hateful statements that have been made that have offended wide numbers of people in our country that are the statements that certainly veer from Normal political speech into the realm of what you would describe as hate speech. And and notably, he tweeted affirming Lee of of the capital insurrection on the sixth of January, which was after the the postmark deadline for the for the previous ballots, so even that the reaction to that is not even fully been represented in in the overall baseball writers reaction to him, So I do think that there are some journalists who are not supporting him for that. He's an eye Mitch. And can I have continued voting for him? Despite that reality of what he has said, And I think in general, perhaps one year from now, the number of writers who object to him on those grounds will become even greater..

"Surrounding them in regards to its steroids. How could they get in? And in Bonds and Clemens do not get in. Well, where's the consistency with this? So I don't like that. Then? Some guy who this year we've got got the boat for the very first time. He's like, all right, I'm psyched I get I put my 10 years in. I get to I get to vote and you will be good for nobody that ticks me off. It really does. So, look, I'm passionate about a lot of things, and I'm just completely going in circles here. A two this point time prior to this hearing what the outcome is going to be this year. I anticipate like you do that. Nobody's going to get elected. And that really, really fries my butt. Yeah, well, great reaction we asked for, and I love it, You know, so just to be devil's advocate, just to kind of keep the conversation going here because I know I know your point is clear. What if somebody said to you that Small hall is the right way to go because it makes it extraordinarily difficult to reach Cooperstown. I'm reading Ron Crochet, for example, in The Chronicle, and he's He knows his stuff runs a baseball guy. He says. I'm a small hole advocate. It should be extraordinarily difficult to reach Cooperstown that makes that makes baseball's Hall of fame or prestigious than other sports Hall of Fame. Very point. But, you know, I kind of got into a circle. I never really finished what I started. But the whole point being is that you're gonna get Iran's fall and I love the guy. He's a great writer. And he doesn't do anything easily. He spends time on it as most great writers do. But if you're gonna go with a small hall, then all of a sudden longevity and the fact that you were blessed by Mother nature and you, you did not have to succumb to injury that that determines who goes in Because those are the numbers we're gonna go in. Not the guy. You had six great years who was on iconic stud for six great years. You've gotta have 16 in order to get in this hall, and I don't agree with that. Yeah, well, e guess they do certain exceptions. Like Sandy Koufax. Maybe. You know, he only played 12 years in the bigs. And really, only actually, I say 12, but really only Only really about 10 for real or even nine or eight for real. So it takes somebody extraordinary like Koufax. You know who basically Mike was from 61 to 66. That was basically his whole run. But it was just such a rumor. Nobody he was. He was the greatest picture of that era. So my point is, you could be the hole. You could be the guy for 6789 years and still not get in. It's ludicrous and for some hemorrhoid to get up there and say I have the boat and I'm not vote for anybody. You know what's in go away. You go follow another sport because you don't clearly get it. And then you know, the guy who had a four year run is blends to come. You know, that's the kind of guy like it is such a get those I like the small hole thing. It makes it because, like the pro Football Hall of Fame is coming up. They put a minimum of five every year. Basketball. I don't even know it seems like they put in 10 12 guys every year. So I do like the exclusivity, But you're right. There's inconsistencies everywhere. I mean, Dale, but you're right about Dale Murphy and I mean, maybe watching movies Come play shortstop. That's a hall of Famer. You know, I mean longevity to think that wouldn't what? We saw him first, and you know, he in order to be able to play 20 years or whatever was he played? And beat that good defensively. I mean, really, You know your defense of skills you wrote before your offense of skills do if they take a lot of guys who who are in the hall that you know they were pretty good players when they first came up on both sides, And then all of sudden the glove dropped off the shelf. And guess what? He stuck around and he became a D h. Well, how is that different from a defensive specialist? How does that guy be as less athletic and as beautiful as the scale was in a position that That you can't fool anybody. It's your stock and the way that he played it and the matter gold gloves that he has, how come he's not in I just I don't get it and then something, and you know now it's become an issue off the field. Whether it's probably kept him out this year. I think you probably would have been. It had not been for the controversy that's in the paper right now. Right? And so it's the whole thing is how they go around it. I get so angry, but, yeah, you know when they do select guys, I mean, they never get it wrong. The guys would go in. They certainly clearly deserve to be in there. I just wish There be some consistency in the way that they they make their selection. But what you could justify anybody you put in there you can I mean by mango. Wouldn't. Uh, Hey, beautiful. How you justified? It Does a great point, man. I love that guy. He was blessed with longevity, and that really was the argument for him. You know, it's funny. I mean, and then I'm a student of the Bruce Jenkins school, which is like his dad was a musician, and it's like kind of like it's like feel like a jazz thing. Like You know what a hall of Famer is? You know, I mean, You can parse the numbers and you can. Then you could just know what a Hall of Famer is, You know, And I've always liked that about Bruce and I know that seems very nebulous to the data crowd, but see by saying that like this July that after they got delayed last summer, Jeter's gonna go in And so is Larry Walker. And I don't know. Oh, my God. I mean, I just never felt like I was watching the hall of Fame when I watch Larry Walker. I'm being kind of a jerk about that. But you know what I mean? I certain guys have a sheen like Oh fax for six years. Where's Larry Walker played 17. And I was never I was never like I'm going to the yard to see Larry Walker play, but but maybe you feel differently, You know? Oh, Larry Walker. Yeah. Look, Murph, I love you. But you're being a jerk about that one like e didn't hear you guys just very much for the first time. And he said, Oh, my God. This guy is gonna be good. You know what he developed? He's totally handicapped by Coors Field, but that guy was he was a cut above no doubt my argue it would be like I agree with you that I think Dale Murphy was a better player than Larry Walker. That's just my like, so I don't have to go back in parts of the numbers. But anyway, that's what happens when you play the field game. But you're right. Larry walking brother Larry Walker's used to steal bags still looking up when you're still 33 bags about that. Anyway, the next guy, huge stealing bases with that body. Come on. Maybe I'm biased, but he's Canadian. I just You know, it's an American kid. I'm totally kidding. Hey, you listening? Hey, it was gonna be a Canadian is gonna be up there on that sort of that bubble is a guy like Joey Votto, you know, like he's gonna be He's put up great numbers, and I wonder if he'll be the same kind of thing. Scott Rolen isn't good, but it has more questions on the field, and Larry Walker did know, but I was like God because he's a big Ted Williams gun. I love Ted Williams. So that's personal. There. This How about you know it's like, you know, here's a guy who, like failed steroid tests. You know Manny Ramirez and yet there's no doubt he's one of the greatest hitters I've ever seen. Like, you know, so You gotta have a you know, it's a museum of baseball, right? Well, I mean, so there we go. Now you go back and compare Major league baseball to football and basketball and how they put it in there. When we get done back to the very simple element of what these holes are about. "I don't want to bury the lead but you know with with him in another addition in addition the pitching staff. Then i feel confident. In saying look we are at the raise level or a little bit exceeding it I think where prob. If i'm being honest with myself right and i again i hate to be that guy. I just don't know that right. Now we'd we'd win a seven game series against the raz mostly because the starting pitching that we lack offensively it would probably be a high scoring game. I it'd probably be a home run derby but it just who scores the most at that point on maybe if is trotting out game one you feel confident in there but after that it's kind of toss up as it stands right now so i'm a little uncomfortable saying that we're at the raise level. I disagree with that. I'd say we're about at yankee level right now. In terms of hallen in matching on. And i would put the blue jays right now. Who recalls the nineteen ninety-five cleveland indians. Running all the way to the world series nothing but manny ramirez in. Our ballot is weighing at team. Didn't have a ton of pitching and found ways to bludgeon people to tap as far as it goes i looking at this lineup. Anxiety was pulling it off without my head. I couldn't remember who the heck was actually all in that lineup. Forget to go with it but eerily similar in some of the fashion and kenny lofton leading off. Which is you know more or less. I'm going to compare him to what we get when bogus shot more or less. Right speeds speedy player hits vol solid. Gets everything going and kevin video right there. You got those two guys equal in that and then you had manny ramirez rbis scall- jim thome and albert bell really rounded that out. You can make the argument that this lineup looks very scary..

"I'm used to be 525 at the closing bell from the W B A B news desk. I'm Briggs. Your next date will be a 30 24 7 coverage I gave you come basis. Then you can talk about Texas. It's Chris Rock right now. You fucking 20 to 1. Now we're getting scarier. Then I'll get out. I mean, I don't want to put it another that because You know, it's like a left and how they work with gay marriage. Frenchy under stuff used to Marcus 15 years ago or so, Okay, he's going to go get is going to go. You know what happened home, so the market and get away with this is years and years and decades of the cave. So here we are now and You are literally when I Released made us are literally in a straitjacket. Straitjacket is You will not say certain things politically that you have a right to say that freedom speech. Not violent or anything. You will not promote certain candidate you'll not to promote a certain movement or you will be throwing the baby platform. You have no way of communicating. And we know before you let me know on you. Nothing is happening. It's such a lightning quick speed. It is terrifying, and I'll never stop grounds home. Anyone who supported the idiots in charge Day home because I didn't like the way the vote turned out in November. You don't get this horse. You'll do this to us. Big Tech was waiting. The links to appease Democrats also want to repeal text to 30. And saying another word without us this and the big tax 62 things appease the left, So it doesn't get further, um, regulated and also they hate us. They hate President. They hate every sport. So now I gotta tell you, it's unbelievable are saying And they said that if you support President Trump if you don't want him if you vote for impeachment scandal, the platform you if you like the election turnout for how things went down, But we will take you off. This boat will take you on Twitter. And by the way, you kind of parlor, which is there's nothing wrong with parlor. I'm gonna tell you how serious is it coming another second by the minute locally as well. My friends. And fought with police Office Association, which includes my friend Manny Ramirez. They started a parlor account. Totally gonna tell people you know, following this office association, check us out at Barbara's. Well, he didn't say anything about that. And the Star Telegram and Bud Kennedy was a literal who had been on my show three times. Is a blood can be literally for unquote exposed this and Shane and bullied us a little ashamed. Believe my friends were police officers at the fourth, pushed off association and into trying to get them to pull their parlor accounts to embarrass them, and they nailed them. They nail him and nail them in the nail and the nail them. They're trying to say that anybody who has a partner count is some kind of way to compensate for its association with my show last week, denouncing the violence of the capital, Hispanic. You must really that really lessons for years. And these white liberals. Like Kennedy are shaming attacking Hispanic people put their freaking lives on the line for us every day on the streets before breaking work. What is that book into the earth and sea food in some way to try to save the cops? Infection like me a lot of people. That's what I said on the show. Well, do you have seen your Oh, So what does he have the glasses?.

NFL star suspended 4 games for using fertility drug
"The giants have a disaster going on at their wide receiver position a few days into training camp they're starting receivers it looks like right now we're Darius Layton and Bennie Fowler after sterling Shepard broke his thumb after Corey Coleman towards ACL is out for the year and golden Tate suspended for four games or so we think coming by the NFL but it is on appeal Joe do you think this suspension for performance enhancing drugs is going to stick or or you are you buying a golden Tate's excuse here which will get into in a second about fertility drugs yeah no I actually buy his excuse Erin he released a statement earlier this morning saying that in in April of this year during the off season he was seeing a specialist for fertility fertility planning and he started treatment was prescribed by the doctor and he found out there was something in this prescription that was against the NFL's policy so in the event go straight to the to the statement I immediately discontinued years I reported the situation to the independent administrator of NFL policy on performance enhancing substances I spoke with my coaches and general manager I did all of this well before a failed test was even confirmed per NFL protocol in initial suspension was imminent but myself the giants organization a confident in the fact look he's got a contingency here he's told people if if what he's saying is true I can't see why they would uphold the suspension because it could be an honest mistake coming from a couple that was looking to have a kid right Sir so rules are rules right Joe and in my and the way the NFL now I have no idea how they approach to discipline on other kinds of issues right and I'm sure there are plenty of people out there looking at wide receivers and saying how is Tyree kill not suspended at all but golden Tate is going to be suspended for four games but I I on their drug rules the NFL usually is pretty firm on their stuff like this is a list of what you can't take it is your body it is your job and your millions of dollars that are on the line and if you put anything in your body whether it's aspirin whether it's a supplement whether it's something that you eat it is your responsibility to manage it and to make sure that nothing on this banned substance list enter your body and if it does and you fail a test you are going to be suspended should there be some gray area there because I think the NFL in the past has looked at this very black and white and said that it's the players responsibility it and ignorance is not a defense when you're getting suspended for beating case well here's the thing air he is taking responsibility once he found out what he was putting in his body he immediately stopped at any let everybody know this is not one of these I got surprised by the results situation which we already had this week with the Tennessee Titans and Taylor the one who took a polygraph any came back clear but again that's a different situation where you've been taking this knowing full well that there that that it could pop up eventually this is him taking the responsibility okay anybody want to that once retiree kill and this situation I mean could you be more disingenuous I'm not saying you're doing this but the people who want to bring up Tyree kill there are other examples about the NFL's random wheel of fortune punishment we'll that they they they they like to use this is not it you're looking in the wrong direction this is an honest mistake I'm gonna take his word for it it's not a Manny Ramirez situation from ten years ago when he was taken horse fertility pills okay this is something that is an honest mistake that most people can
