"Let's also talk about one thing in the federal budget itself. This is something that I have talked about a great deal in Congress and I've talked about it outside. The basic budgeting system in Washington D.C. is broken. You've got to understand this. If you don't understand this, then we're not even in the same page as far as trying to fix it. So let me just break it out very simply. And I used to do this with a dollar bill. And these are both approximations. So if you're out there trying to say, you know, you're a two percentage points off, then again, you need to understand what I'm trying to say. I'm trying to put the budget in perspective. Because I hear so many times about the balanced budget act. And why don't we just do a balanced budget act? Well, you're getting ready to find out that that would be a good thing because we can't balance it on a federal level, but to implementational balanced budget actors, something that will be especially if it's not phased in over a number of years would be in devastating on the economy because the government has entwined itself so much in our regular economy now that bringing cutting it back to just basically almost everything in the federal government. We've got a problem and I had to deal with debt and other issues that would go forward. So let me let's just break this down for you. If you had $1, if you would. And again, these are from over the past few years so numbers have fluctuated. I'm trying to take out the COVID spending Drake out the extra spending that's out there. Let's just stick to what was normally in the range of the budget if you would. First thing to understand about budget in the appropriations bills in Congress, 12 of them, they're supposed to be passed individually. Most of the time they're not, they put an omelet in the spill. You have the typical spending is about half half roughly, is defense, Manny, and have is overall is your spending for everything else. For the most in the government. There are also another two categories in both the defense and the rest of the government spending fall into what's called a discretionary spending discretionary spending is when the you have the members of Congress have the ability to raise it or lower it. So if you wanted to spend $10 in defense instead of $5 spent, that's a discretionary among the members of

That should be customer loyalty type updates in my opinion. Anyway, that's just me. All right. Well, while we're on the topic of potential train wrecks, man, I just, I feel bad, part of me feels bad for beating up on the postal service and part of me kind of secretly enjoys it because they've kind of brought this on themselves by just decades of just mismanagement and I have my theory on this, by the way. I digress. Okay. So we have, okay. So we talked about this a while back. The postal service has been shopping around for contracts on their new we used to call them the mail truck or the male Jeep, or they weren't jeeps. The current generation is a Chevrolet engine. It was originally placed in the S ten, it was not by any means a reliable or efficient engine. No. But these are the kinds of things that, you know, it's a government, it's basically the lowest bidder. 'cause we didn't learn anything from the space shuttle. They all run like crap. Period. If you haven't heard the rattles of your postal you know it's coming. You know what's coming? Yeah. You know, just like holy cow, man. The male guys here are male gals here, whatever, you know? So they're looking at, well, okay, so they had made a decision or a commitment in one direction. And news comes out on that. Now, this one, well, it's the contract was awarded the OshKosh defense. In the spring of 2021. To me, right? I mean, you want to be relying on an automotive manufacturer that has tons of experience in the fleet vehicle industry. So you go with the company that nobody's ever heard of, right? Right, right. What? Yeah. So these guys were, yeah, they were hooked up for the replacement of there's about a 150,000 of those what they call the Grumman long life vehicles or what we call LVs, which Keith just mentioned, which is basically an S ten, pickup truck, and they use those 2.5 liters. Now, me being in the engine component manufacturing side of the industry for years, I'm very aware of it. There's a lot of production engine rebuilders out there that have these contracts. On the rebuilding of the mail trucks for the government. And just sending out valve train in droves for these things. I mean, just it's the gift that keeps on giving. That's how bad these things are designed. They're not very good at all. They get crappy gas mileage. And that's what's going to lead us into the story. So here we are in 2022, right? And it's now time for a new replacement and the big talk is EPA. We're a decade and a half pass these things being time to be. Oh my goodness, man. Okay, so I think that the gas mileage, the EPA gas mileage rating on these things, the average is 8.2 miles to the gallon. Now keep in mind, there's a lot of idling going on..

"Sense, but I only fear that automakers are going to take the same approach that our PC builders, you know, like. Steve Bill Gates and Michael. All these guys, these manufacturers of home computers and any electronics that just basically after 5, 6 years, it's ops less. It's done. We're not going to push you an update anymore. So you're on your own if you want to drive that. And on the Android side, the cell phone market, Google, Fiona Google, their life cycles two to three years, and they just stopped releasing security updates for it after that. That's it. Right. Even a bug patch. Here's the other thing that I fear too is that the EPA could get involved with this, to where if they don't support that update anymore, say, Ford doesn't push over the air updates to these things anymore. Which keeps them EPA compliant or emissions compliant within whatever region zone that you're in and you have emissions tests that you take or they just plug it in now it's plug it into the OBD and test it. Right. If you're not getting the update that gives you the latest version and or what the EPA requires, they could shut you down. You may not even be able to get a license for it anymore. I mean, this is my brain thinking of I don't mind technology, but it's also in the subscriptions and stuff. It bothers me to the extent of where the personalization of owning a vehicle is going away. It's no longer an extension of you. You know, like you used to always say that the guy driving the Corvette is, you see an image of this guy and this like Paisley shirt with his with a button down and hairy chest and a big gold chain. He can't be just one. You gotta go. Right, right. I mean, you're not gonna have any more of the guys around. Like we've got a guy locally here. He goes by the handle of the Corvette man. It's an extension of who he is and what he does. And he drives Corvettes and he builds them and it's cool. So these are the things that I fear for these types of subscription. System subscriptions. These are the luxuries that you might want. Just buy the damn car. It is kind of a dangerous slippery slope argument. I agree. It's kind of, I don't know that we want to go down that path. I don't want to. I mean, certain things, yeah, I would, you know, like if it's infotainment stuff, but a heated seat.

"I love these people. First of all, I would say I wish I had this kind of time, but honestly, if I had this kind of time, I don't know that I would be doing it, but there are people that sit out there and troll once you are granted a patent in the U.S. patent office. It basically becomes public information. Yes. Your patent filing does. Once it's approved or granted. So and there are people out there that all they do is just read through the approved patents. I mean, this is apples had a lot of stuff exposed in recent years over people finding things out this way and so on. So there's one out of four that's really interesting. In a segment I'd like to call, I don't need your stinking clutch. I don't need no stinking clutch. So apparently Ford's working on a manual transmission, if you will, that shifts without the use of a clutch pedal. Right. And I checked out the patent on that. I looked at that thing. It's interesting technology. Now here's the deal though. Here's what's funny. Hyundai back in 2018, they also came out with what they call a no clutch pedal type transmission. And it's senses the change. It's kind of like it's an intelligent shift. They called it intelligent manual transmission as the IMT, there's an IMT sensor on it, it senses when you're going to slam it into gear. It's all electronic censored, so it takes the human element really kind of out of it. That's Hyundai. It's kind of more of a hybrid though. I mean, even this one and I did look at this patent and I've got it I've got it up here. And it's kind of, it just hybrid. This really, to me, is more similar to a paddle shifter style. Exactly. I thought that this was nothing new to me. Yeah, I got the same impression, but I will say that if your goal is to try and introduce people that would otherwise be afraid to learn a manual transmission. And get them exposed this way, I guess I'm okay with it. I mean, you and I and I'm guessing a lot of the rest of our viewers and listeners had similar experiences. If you've ever learned to drive a stick, you know, you almost have to just get thrown into the deep end of the pool. To some extent, right? Like you start usually a parking lot. But at some point, you're gonna have to learn to start on a hill. Right. Right. I mean, you just gonna have to do it, and then we've all had the joke where like I've literally killed it, right?.

So we've got two or three different stories here, but I would like to start with this one probably the most entertaining of the group. Yeah. We found this URI, I get us confused all the time. One of us found this on the Bronco 6 G forum. Yeah. And this guy posted basically Ford is if you have a Bronco on order, but you don't have it yet. Ford, it looks like it's starting to send out consolation prizes of backpack. A Bronco backpack and an off road kit or an off road kit in the backpack. Which isn't a bad idea, right? I mean, no. Well, overland crowd kind of goes hand in hand with some of this gear, right? So yeah, so if you dig into this and just all of you listeners out there, if you're a Bronco reservation holder, this should definitely be pique your pique your interest here because this is pretty important now. Back in the summer, what was referred to as dirt mountain is now referred to as ice mountain. And the reason why that is is because the same Broncos, not all of the same Broncos, but this big huge holding yard up in Michigan is completely snowed over and you've got just thousands of Broncos that are built halfway built. They're built, but they're missing specific components to help them complete the production. Namely, like the tops and the chips and those sorts of things. And they're just sitting out there in the ice and the snow, which has a lot of Bronco owners really worried. Yeah, man. There's footage of them just like, okay, so. Your stuff just sitting there for months, waiting on parts out in the sun and heck no, we talked about that back in the summer for that. They're parking some of the halfway built vehicles in. Rock quarries. At least it's not like GM was doing with the canyon or the correct. There's parking them out there in those environments. And it's just not good. I mean, I personally, if I were a reservation holder, I'll be honest with you. This is just me. I would cancel my reservation. They could have it at this point. I'll come back. As soon as we get beyond all these shortages and I can order it and know it's in production and it's going to be coming in a specified time. Then I'm good with it. I mean, you're not going to send me a backpack and make me happy. Well, it sounds like we're turning a corner with some of the shortages. So you may be, you may be able to get out of line and then get back in line in a year or two and probably get one pretty quickly. So here's the thing too though. What you need to realize here, folks, is that while you reservation holders are getting one of these from Ford as a consolation prize here, a gift for waiting. There is a part number for this thing. And apparently anybody can buy one..

"They're two very different reputations. Pablo within the philippines tear. Today is popular. President detections approval rating is said sky high. It's hard for us to really fathom bat because from the outside he has definite authoritarian tendencies. Yes the philippine leader has faced harsh criticism for launching a bloody drug war in his country over the past year. Thousands of people have been killed in the brutal crackdown. He has risen to power with the idea of helping clean up the streets in getting drugs off the streets but the other side of that was that it was done through. Executions and killings drug dealers. Were shot drug users were shot there are human rights groups that say what has happened is that there have been as many as thirty thousand extrajudicial killings on the streets of the philippines that that he is emboldened citizens to kill their fellow citizens with no repercussions yet. Tim he is a guy who is somebody who claims to be this man of the people sort of character who is tough on crime on behalf of those people but uses executions as his primary means of accomplishing those goals and my hesitancy around manny pacquiao to be perfectly frank with you in recent years was because of his seemingly close relationship with duterte say how would you characterize that relationship as you understand it for the first five years of yells term as a senator. There was really no daylight between these two men and it was. It was hard for me to really square. Pack yell the detaille supporter from paki. Al the magnanimous charity driven. God fearing person that you see employing all these people and standing out in front of his home passing out money to the poorest of the poor and building thousands of homes for people in the mindanao province where he's from he didn't just support deter to. He embraced these policies. He denied that extra judicial killings. Were taking place. There is no exponentially. Tell killing in the philippines It just came out from the appreciation. Mine that the ruin the the president. There was really no question that this is an was taking place in somehow managed. Found a way to to deny that. I attended manny's fortieth birthday party. Which is the event of the year. Every only imagine i can't even describe how over the top and ostentatious it was but in this party all these men there. I had a helpful guide with me saying okay. That guy was the police chief in davao city. For say he was the one in charge of carrying out the killings. You know it was just down the line. These are the people that manny associates with. And is that thing that sticks in the back of your head where you think okay. We really want this man to be different right. We want. y'all four the country. We want him to embrace his roots as someone who the that it could have been him very easily. Manny use drugs. Manny lived on the streets. All these things exactly right the human rights observers and they say you know what are you going to do for the poor. If you're going to be president there has to be something more than handing out money you have to develop policies and you have to be someone who the people can believe in as more than just an all of this brings us to today. Tem because what you've reported here in your latest piece it demonstrates that there has been something of an almost tectonic shift with manny. Pack yellen his relationship to the president. What has changed here. Manny in a calculating way is attempting to put a little distance between the two of them in the run-up to next year's election. I think that he feels that he may need to be a little distant. He needs to separate himself. And what manny has done is tried to take this approach that he will call out corruption where he sees it. He has taken on detail in a way that really nobody has in such a public way. Manny said in sort of vague way. There's corruption in the deter tate regime into said prove it.
