Well, then I truly I just heard in the last 20 minutes or so, just a devastating news because not only was he a great player, but he's just a wonderful, uh, warm human being. So, uh, You know, he gave all of his baseball memorabilia, and after that career, you could imagine it was a massive amount of memorabilia. His M V P awards is Gold Glove Awards is all the different things that he achieved and one over the many years he was in the game is one of the greatest players to ever play the game. But he gave it all to the baseball Hall of Fame, and when he did, he said, it was the proudest moment of his life was being able to give all of his baseball. Memorabilia to have it in the baseball Hall of Fame. So he was that kind of Ah, person, And I think that, you know, I know a guy who is truly devastated with the news is Dusty Baker. And maybe you've talked to dusty already. I don't know. No, we have got this just broke your our first guy. So Well, Dusty always said that Hank Aaron was such an important person to him that after his dad he was probably the most important person in his life. And when he went to the Atlanta Braves. A teenager. His dad, you know when I went to spring training with him, and dusty introduced him to Hank Aaron and his dad said. I want you to do me a favor because he's leaving home. He's young. Uh, and, uh, and sat at dinner and talk to Hank Aaron the whole time and you're one of the things that was always kind of astounding to me was he kept asking me questions. E had a big questions. I wanted to ask him, you know. But anyway such such a warm guys the first time I ever met him on, I'll never forget this. I was a speaker at the New York Baseball Writers dinner, the annual dinner that is usually around this time. He had the end of January early February, and it's like the big baseball offseason hot Stove League dinner and s. So it was exciting for me to be there and Have a good night. I was just there to get some laughs. You know, They're in a big ball room and the midtown Manhattan hotel with commissioners there and all the people who went M V. P awards and the you know, Cy Young Award. Everybody's at this owners of teams and what that so I was very excited, and Joe DiMaggio was there. And on Hank Aaron was there giving a award as well. So the next morning at the hotel and I'm you know, just all full of myself and excited that I thought it went. the trial in New York and what's ahead for Harvey Weinstein let's bring in NBC news senior investigative reporter acheter skate where do we stand a Harvey Weinstein trial jury selection is now under way sherry and the judge has called a garden variety jury selection because it's all happening in the open but nothing about this case has been garden variety and it's been a rather slow process because as they bring potential jurors in in groups of one hundred ten only a handful can actually certify that they could be fair one potential jurors said she knew someone who had an encounter with Harvey Weinstein another said she had read road in Farrell's book and had already made up her mind so the pre trial publicity and all of the the you know the the emergence of the me too movement really is having an effect on on jury selection here and Harvey Weinstein try to get the judge to recuse himself in part because he refused to grant the change of venue and he wanted to be tried in a Long Island wasn't that right that was one of the options either out in Suffolk County on in eastern Long Island or perhaps up in the capital region of New York in around Albany thinking that maybe the the publicity wouldn't have been as intense as it would be in New York City but the judge turn turn that request down it was actually quite funny at one point the judge admonished Harvey Weinstein and in a rather pretty good scolding for for actually using his cell phone in court and and said this is really the way you want to end up in jail for the rest of your life and that's scolding was so over the top the defense said that the judge should recuse himself that was another reason so really that that the the the fire works have been on display from the start even before jury selection really began many of the women who are accusing everyone's dean of sexual assault not not talking about the ones who is accused of in this particular criminal trial but many of those who have said in other cases that they they've accused him of sexual summer said that they were going to be in the trial every single day listening to this testimony of they've been there a couple showed up at at the beginning but I think many years are choosing to wait until the testimony gets underway for all of the more than eighty and perhaps as many as one hundred five women who have accused Harvey Weinstein publicly of some kind of sexual misconduct the criminal case really boils to the accounts of two women one who says that Harvey Weinstein raped her in a Manhattan hotel in twenty thirteen any other maybe a lady who has come out and said that Harvey Weinstein forced himself on her back in two thousand six and those accounts make up the five felony charges that winds dean faces the judge has allowed several other women to testify to what these women called Harvey Weinstein's prior bad acts it's it's very similar to how the Bill Cosby case was built the second time around that lead to his conviction where women whose accounts may be beyond the statute of limitations or happen in a different jurisdiction are allowed to come help the prosecution build a case that Harvey Weinstein is a serial predator so in the meantime there is also a new case in Los Angeles that involves charges too in fact one of the women who is going to testify to bolster the prosecution account in New York is one of the women whose account makes up the criminal charges now in Los Angeles where Harvey Weinstein is accused on successive nights in twenty thirteen of raping a woman and sexually assaulting another woman of these these alleged encounters happened at two different hotels one in Los Angeles the other in Beverly hills Harvey Weinstein of course has denied all non consensual sex claims finally when we when we headed to the actual trial the testimony is this any this going to be televised or we're gonna be able to hear see it we will not know cameras have been allowed to and we're poor is when we're inside of the courtroom can't even use cell phones to transmit real time information out but but some of that testimony is we think going to get rather right specific the prosecution mention the existence of seventy two photographs taken by one of the witnesses the exact content was not clear but the those pictures are apparently so sensitive that the the the judge and the prosecutors and the defense team are are trying to figure out how to show them without unduly humiliating Harvey Weinstein the prosecutors want to show seven of those photographs and believe they can do it sensitively the judge even questioned whether they could be delicate wow okay so a lot going on and Harvey Weinstein case and even more coming up the next couple weeks much more coming up as "Alcohol drugs sex and greed cases a lot of sex cases my gosh speaking of which Harvey Weinstein goes to trial this week the predicting it's gonna be a two month trial on rape involving two women I'm gonna tell you right now it can be found guilty and first of all let me tell you what we'll know hearty when seen kind of was the poster boy of the me too movement but with Harvey you've got to accusers knelt Eric a general light we've tried twenty six cases where we've got two accusers all right they they they're not exactly easy to win for prosecution the defense is ms let me first attire he's got he's got two counts of rape one count of criminal sexual act and two counts of predatory sexual assault so that the other one is going to be some sort of specification that he is a predator and requires two or more victims if he he faces life in prison one involves sex in two thousand six at his Manhattan apartment the other is at a Manhattan hotel in two thousand thirteen I believe both of these women are adults were adults the time and the question is going to be was a force threat of force were they substantially impaired where they could not consent but what exactly was it well what's gonna get modeled on that and I think that would be an easy case easy your case the very defensible case is no such thing as an easy case for either this the prosecution or the defense a general that's very true what makes it very difficult is an evidence rule that allowed school for four be evidence the judge allowed testimony from three other women who are not part of the indictment who claim they were assaulted by Harvey but there again they're not part of the charges in these women are going to present evidence the prosecutors are gonna say statuses pattern of behavior and many times this evidence is inadmissible because it could unfairly prejudice the defendant's right to a fair trial but our hand on this one bill this is what got Bill Cosby in two thousand eighteen after a a a mistrial and its first trial you open up the door to four four B. evidence other accusers that are not part of the indictment he's done he's done other defense is going to be well there's text messages after the fact so there's gonna be some texting going on I'm sure they maintained a relationship with with Harvey after the fact the defense is going to say well what rape victim Max like this to their rapists this can be a lack of forensic evidence will many times on these he said she said cases there is no forensic evidence in this the government's going to make a big deal about that don't worry that there's no DNA don't worry there's no sexual assault nurses and don't worry that she never went to a doctor don't worry don't worry don't worry don't worry that you didn't get the part of tech come on don't worry guys on trial proof beyond a reasonable doubt we don't worry in Ohio we get a jury instruction that part of our jury instruction says Hey if you believe one witness which includes with accuser that's enough to
