The Brewers Corbin Burns continued his hot start versus the Cubs. He accomplishes a feat. No picture is done since 19 Oh, six, Burns has 30 strikeouts and no walks. Three starts to begin the season and another record in baseball. The Boston Red Sox took both games of a doubleheader from the Minnesota Twins yesterday, extending their win streak to nine in a row. According to Elias Sports. You'll handle here on a Thursday morning, April 15th. Something extraordinary is happening right now in the show been trial. I've never seen anything like this. In open court. I don't know if the jury is there or not, I would think not at this point, The attorney Eric Nelson, show Vin's attorney asks him in open court. All right, that whether or not he is going to testify or not. I mean, right there asks him in front of the judge, and that never happens. Usually you stand up and you don't even mention anything that that that friend is not gonna testify. Well, Erik Nelson is actually at war Did Actually ask him if you choose now, the answer wasn't there yet. If you choose to testify, here's what's going to happen. You will be open to cross examination. Anything and everything effectively you will be asked about And if you understand that and choose to testify, you can go forward. If you choose not to testify. You have 1/5 amendment right not to testify and, of course, refused to incriminate yourself. Which you would, anyway. I mean, you wouldn't incriminate yourself. This is me talking now, but I mean everything out, for example, for my understanding. Chauvet actually has a history off accusations of excessive force that would blow wide open where the prosecution would go through the minutia. Didn't you use excessive force? We wouldn't say that. Didn't you push someone around? Didn't you handcuff that person? When you didn't have to. I mean the whole panoply and after Erik Nelson goes through that and explains what would happen if Shobin chooses to testify. Then the judge goes through the same thing and says, Mr Show, Vin, Do you understand that If you choose to testify, you will be open to cross examination on and well, effectively everything you ever done, said Light about complaint against you in your police file. Even the point where I think civil complaints or witnesses could be brought up to re. But Anything you have to say would be allowed in court, and I've never seen that both the attorney In court. Is giving the warning as well as the explanation of what happens if he testifies, followed by the judge, saying exactly the same thing to make absolutely sure that That if the decision is made, hey, understands, And then the judge went on to say, Keep in mind. Mr. Sheldon, you have the right not to testify. It's your constitutional right. No advice was given. Erik Nelson had said during the course of his admonition of whether or not shoving should testify or not. Admitted. We've gone back and forth on this. We have had many conversations to put it on the record. All right to make sure that show Vin clearly states his decision One way or the other Incidently shoving did decide At the end of the both those admonitions that he chose. He chooses not to testify in this trial. I would have been stunned if he chose to testify not with the kind of evidence that's there and the on Lee the the on leeway to attack this case. The only way the defense saw is properly dealing with this, which Erik Nelson is doing as good a job as can be done under the Circumstances. He has so little toe work with that, actually, hey, he's a skilled skilled attorney. Clearly knows what he's doing. The problem is, he's by himself. You have a prosecution with eight or 10 attorneys, each one taking a separate segment, each one taking a separate witness and preparing for that particular witness where Erik Nelson has to prepare and question every single prosecution witness on his own Incidently. Erik Nelson is a very well respected attorney. He's managing partner of a major law firm. And his in entire practice is criminal defense and principally criminal defense of police officers. So he is very, very seasoned. He knows what he's doing. And s O. I give him kudos. In the meantime, Gerry Blackwell Who is up there. Prosecuting, I think is just a phenomenal attorney. I'm sitting back here and shaking my head saying I've never seen anybody as good as this. Uh, that's the level of the prosecution here. This is the kind of guy who was so good. That if he left to a criminal defense firm would make hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not more because of his skill level, And he works for the D. A's office probably makes $150,000 a year and clearly is a public servant. All of them because these are all very senior D A's or assistant Deputy D A. S and s O a Zay. Look at these prosecutors and on that one. Those people believe in public service, because truly, they could do so much better on the outside, You know, people think. Oh, you take a job with the government because you can't get a job a good job in private practice, Not in this case, that's for sure. Hey, handle. I've got two pieces of information coming out of the Derrick shoving murder trial first off the defense and the trial has rested its case. Also, CNN is reporting that the prosecution has asked Introduce new evidence regarding the carbon monoxide in George Floyd's blood. So the final issue is that is that in the autopsy? I don't know. I don't know. We don't have to be. It has to be in the odd tops. But then why wasn't it brought up before? Which is a problem because they probably didn't have the opportunity to actually explore it because it was brought up by Fowler just out of the blue. It was it was thrown in, and it's stunned. Everybody saying Wait a minute that never came up and what Fowler did didn't do the defense any help? That's for sure. And I think they're going to show that there was a search for or looking at whether carbon monoxide was in George Floyd system, and it's going to show there wasn't because if there was there sure as hell not gonna introduce that. Coming up the cost of clearing tent cities. It's pretty high a bunch of different levels and I'll share that with you when we come back. This is K. F. I am 6 40. Let's check in with Jennifer. There's no question and they kept coming at him with fresh bodies and and he does need a bounce back, and he's very important for us. Nate the chefs, he's been awesome this week. I feel like he's coming into new territory. Now is a junior for us, and I would love to see it tonight in the game, and you know Cormac Ryan, it's his first game of the year the other night against Michigan State. More reps. He and Prentiss playing together, Dane Goodwin. You know we will not have Nick Joe go tonight. That ankle is still really sore, so he is unavailable, So it gives us a guy's Elijah Morgan. Tony Sanders and Matt Zone off the bench. Those are all right. No. When I watched Detroit play Michigan State I could hear your voice. We want to get older. We like to be old..

You don't all you don't automatically get started to play offs. You not a main, so let's take advantage of what we got and I'm sitting over there and I'm hearing it obviously because I'm telling you I was listening, but I'm also sitting over there like Gumby bureau year. My family and I'll be looking at the games. Gang won. We beat them. I like twenty five thirty I dunno check I just know we'd beat them back right. In Game Two, we beat them. And you know like that, you swag. I would look a bench and they would be like. Who? Went Back San Antonio game three thought we could have won out with saying game four. But it started to help me realize that no matter how much you win, either one of them gangs by just one game. One game, so you never get too high or low in We lost that game seven. Man. Oh, man I was that that team was one of the best teams and you know you own. A special team got like we used to have game nights. It was more than. that. Stuff that was that was a big deal, but yeah. I mean. I always say I. Play for the Lakers for a little bit for. Like. How like how was that? In real time like how was that being communicated to you like it was all out there like the trade is done, you're going into the Lakers, and then it was like everybody reacting like this is about to be crazy CPI with cold. "To thirty seven. I want to share this story with you. Because I teased it so many times that I'll go right back to the phones. There's an interesting thing happening at Harvard University. Harvard has long discriminated against Asian American students, and it's been a blatant discrimination against Asian American students. You know, why? Because they're too good at school. Harvard gives each kid a personal score. And depending on your ethnicity, your background your socioeconomic status. Your score can be inflated by Harvard to increase your chance of making the cut for admissions. The only minority group whose score is actually lowered by being a part of that minority group is Asian American students. They are penalized for being Asian and we've talked about this before because it's outrageous. It's truly outrageous. The you have a kid who has done everything right in high school. They have incredible grades. They have extracurricular activities, they have volunteer hours. They have letters of recommendation and all the things that they've done their entire life to get into an Ivy league school like Harvard. Do not matter if your last name is Asian as a matter of fact, some Asian students are actually changing their last names on their application in order to give themselves a better opportunity to be judged on their merits. Rather than their ethnicity? Well, guess what? My friends lawyers have now sued there, representing a nonprofit. They've sued Harvard alleging intentional discrimination against Asian American applicants and they discovered. A study that Harvard had done in two thousand thirteen and Harvard University's own study said look if we didn't do a these kind of exclusionary tactics. What would this what would the academics? What would the the makeup of the student population? Be well if they just did that Asian students would make up a significantly higher number. Thirty one percent of Harvard's population would be Asian American students. Asian American students. Listen to this Asian American students fare best when the class was crafted based on academe IX alone. Okay. When oh no it's higher than that. The sheriff Asian American students shrinks to thirty one percent when we're recruited athletes and the children of Harvard graduates are factored in because you you a legacy at Ivy league. And the fact your parents went there means that you can go there as well. When the extracurricular and these so-called personal ratings also come into play the share of Asian Americans drops to twenty six percent. Asian Americans were the only racial or ethnic group to see a decrease in their projected class representations with the inclusion of extracurriculars and personal ratings. This is absolutely nuts. Absolutely nuts. The report showed that actual admitted suit populations which considers race, gender and other factors. Not in the internal simulations ended up eighteen point seven percent. Asian American and ten point five percent African American combined across the decade that it was reviewed and guess what? The African American population on academics alone drops down to about one percent less than one percent. So African Americans are having their theirselves inflated dramatically and Asian Americans are being punished and this is wrong. Yes. Dave actually, the Asian American. Statistics is even worse. It's forty three percent. If there was just academic stack. Democrat would be forty three percent of the class would be Asian American. And now, it's it's going it's in court right now, I want to talk about this not because I have any intention of sending the cue to Harvard. But this is exactly how the law begins to violate the equal protection of the constitution. If you have a law that singles out one group for penalty simply because of their ethnicity. How is that equal protection? It's a big issue. We'll see all the court rules. I'm very interested in this. This is a form of anti affirmative action. It's like the opposite of affirmative action. It's the uninformative action. And quite frankly, if I were the parents of an Asian student who didn't get into Harvard simply because my kid was Asian. I would be inferior for I don't know if I would want to send my kid to Harvard. I wouldn't I would just say fine. We'll go somewhere else that does especially when much less qualified students students going there and probably flunking out or not excelling or flunking out is probably what's going on. It's a very interesting study. I linked to this article on the blog today, but I'm going to follow this case because I think it's very important. It has far reaching ramifications that that are not even being talked about yet. So we'll we'll keep following that. I it's a basic case of racism, pure and simple. Exactly. I mean, they would be shocked if you called Harvey. Racists. Just the opposite. When doing one hundred percent so Harvard is full of racist. There you go. Let's talk to Daniel. Daniel you are on KOA NewsRadio eight Mandy. Go back to politics just for a second and mainly. It's about population. You know, Colorado, obviously, it's been a high gross state for a long time. Mainly the metro area. I'm in I'm in the building trades and the national association of home builders put that report every two years the last one in in two thousand sixteen ten thousand five hundred people a month. Wow. Living in moving into the metro area alone. And they've updated that comes out every two years net debt now it's twenty percent higher for this year. And people kind of think, well, there's that many people coming in a month. Well, half of them are Republican or democrat or liberal or conservative. Well, that's not the case. Most of those people are moving in or from both coasts, right east and west coast. And most of those people are coming in. They're buying homes are liberal, you know, that's where they're they're moving their money and their politics from those places, and that's why Colorado's metro areas turns so blue so fast. I grew up. I've been here my whole life and back in the sixties and seventies, man. It was you know, it was a pretty flat. We had a tough every night did to everybody wanted to move and go somewhere else and go get a job. I worked off shore. When I was eighteen now that was blasted made a lot of money, but nobody was coming here to make money. And now, it's just the opposite. That's where we're getting this. That's where some pollsters miss. You know, people that are answering polls are either unaffiliated or they're probably liberal because I don't know. I I've been pretty big into politics and the Boulder County. Oops. I said Boulder County that word, but they it's you don't see too many people. I don't know anybody that answers polls. That's a conservative. I just don't know anybody that does now and to see that many people coming in and people think well, yeah, there's there's there's plenty population coming in and half of them. We're going to be Republican is just not the case. Most of them are going to be liberal, right? And that's why it's changing blue so fast. And so and so hard. There's also been a very very successful, very concerted effort to turn this state blue. And if you haven't read the blueprint yet, then you probably should. And I don't know why Republicans haven't read the blueprint and said, okay, we need to come up with this on our own because that is it has been extremely successful. It has been. Very effective organiz. Yes, for conservatives are high agree. I agree wholeheartedly. We'll see what happens day. No. I don't. I'm not saying you're wrong. But I'm hoping that it's just a of people understand that's a population hoping that is some of these young people get older and they start making money. Then they'll start get a little more concerned about how the government is spending their money, and that's really Alam asking if everybody was concerned about how the government spending is spending the money that the government takes away from us. We'd be fine. We'd be completely fine. But when you have people who say, well, we need to raise taxes because the Colorado state government doesn't get enough money. They don't know that the the budget has doubled in the past ten years almost doubled. And you're telling me, they don't have enough money. John, you're on KOA NewsRadio. Hi. I just wanted to say, I think the Republicans are great yield to blame for the failures running terrible campaigns. I- Walkerton Stapleton is wasn't out there. And to be honest. I consider myself fairly active, but I didn't always Williams. Can I ask you? What do you mean? He wasn't out there. What do you mean by that? Because I I'm in the southern part of the state, and we heard extremely few ads and there were nowhere near maybe. Maybe he's just too is the guy and he wouldn't attacked police. John Lennon limiting this out to you. Jared polis dropped over twenty million dollars of his own money into this race. I want the history, but in the history of Colorado politics, no candidate has been able to raise that kind of money without spending it themselves tiered police bought the governor's mansion. I mean, I understand. But I don't think Walker worked very hard. Maybe he worked hard, but he wasn't in the Airways somebody and you're not your show, but one of your. Different station of an actor niche, and they had not heard a single at by Walker and that all kind of money all comes down to money. I mean, that's the reality is when you when you're fighting someone who's got a twenty two million personal were chests, you cannot compete you simply lane. Why did I not know Wayne Williams says even running for reelection because it's the secretary of state's race. He think that Walker Stapleton didn't have any money secretary of state's race gets a fraction of that kind of money. So stuff comes down to money. But police I why did you change his name? I don't know why I tried to call you a couple of weeks ago. And I thought maybe it would help wake up some people. But what were these abuse charges that he had just for? Work department. Just was very disgusted with the. I am a Republican conservative. And I just I just don't think they're working on it. Well, we'll see we shall see. I mean, we shall see. I was very disappointed that amendment seventy five went down which would have allowed someone like Walker Stapleton to collect larger donations. Whereas soon as Jared police dropped a million bucks in the race. I mean, you guys have to understand the campaign limits in Colorado are are miniscule their miniscule. So if you're Walker Stapleton going out if you could go door to door and raise money twenty four seven throughout the entire campaign and never raised twenty two million dollars because the campaign finance donation. Limits are very low in Colorado. It's a little bit absurd that they're not index for inflation or anything. And alternately how do you compete with a guy who's willing to spend twenty five million bucks to get the office. I keep playing Walker Stapleton because I got to tell you that guy was everywhere. I mean, if you if you went to his website he was doing events he was doing his job as it for the for the government at the same time. He's trying to I just I don't buy that. I just don't Mike you are on KOA NewsRadio. Are you? I'm good. Okay. Gotta disagree with you. You said about uninformed voters like being major problem. And also what you said about the Asian. School. I think that maybe the reason they're doing that is because you can't have a government run. You can't have a school defined by only super intelligent people. Maybe I'm speaking for the average uninformed voter because when I went into the other day, I didn't know a lot of the candidates were even on that. I didn't know a lot of the amendments on there. I learned that because I'm busy. I gotta work. You know, I'm like an hour guy. I got to spend my time delegate who did you vote for which which which candidate? Office for governor voted for governor. What are the choices again? Remember? Wow. And that's my point. I was he calling to tell me that was good. What he did? That you're proud of yourself. You didn't even know who's running. Thank you, sir. For making my point. Joe, you're on KOA NewsRadio. Mandy, west scares me. More than the uninformed voters are the misinformed voters. If you spend any time like I do in the morning, she'd go on think progress the daily cost the other ninety eight percent. The amount of this information that these people have been fed and believe and repeat and acts on is down. You can travel halfway around the world before the truth can even tie. Choose. Those are the people that really scare me. I mean the lies like the tax cut only benefited the top, right? Mitch McConnell wants to cut social security or social security wouldn't be going bankrupt. If the Republicans hadn't stolen all the money to finance the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. I mean, it goes on and on and these people they believe it hope you can you can send them the Bill link to the trustees report this house occurred administration..
