"I didn't think that there was more news in the male realm. This is news. And I feel stupid now, because I hear it all the time at these banquets that I attend, for example. And so what am I thinking? So what do I think when I hear woman A say this to woman B? Yes, yes, what do you think? So I am thinking that woman B, the one being complimented, feels really good that woman A- No, oh, Dennis, my gosh, no, no. It's so, well, a lot of women listening will probably agree with me. And if you don't, please, please speak up. I would be very interested to hear your responses, as always. But I don't think so. I think they just think it's BS. It's another form of how are you? Now, you know what's really awkward? I can tell you this as a woman. When someone says to you, Julie, love that dress. You can't just say thank you. You can't go, thank you. That's implying, and I hate your dress, and you look like a troll. You have to come back with a, oh, but you're, I mean, you look so great. And your hair, your earrings, your makeup. You know what? I'm actually saddened to hear this. I feel silly being saddened, like I'm a child. Why are you saddened? I wanted woman B to feel good. Well, with many of my close friends, I can really tell if they're being genuine. And it's interesting, I'll try to observe this going forward. When it's with a woman you don't know very well, you always do that exchange. And you know it's just an exchange, like how are you? Now, I thought you were asking this question earlier. What if 10 women say it to you at a banquet? It really depends on their tone. You know how you know a woman is genuine? And this is what I thought you were asking this question. So I said it a few minutes ago, but it didn't make sense. No, if she's a stranger, you're more likely to have that meaningless exchange. Because you're trying to fill the space. You know a woman is being genuine by the tone and if they repeat it. If they go, oh, if there's a certain genuine tone that you suspect. And if they say it twice, like I like that dress. Really, almost like they're like, that was the compliment. The preceding sentence was the throwaway compliment. But now I'm really telling you. Oh yeah, of course. It's par for the course of being a female. So Sean says in my earphones, so you're correct that woman A is not being genuine. Therefore, woman B is correct in not taking it seriously. Yeah. So it's exactly like, how are you? We know they don't care. Yes, you're not going to go, actually, my dog died and I'm depressed. How are you? You're not, you're just going to go, good. How are you? Good. Do you say this to women? Well, I've actually, I've really tried to work on it. The answer is yes. And it's so, I know I keep saying, it's like saying, how are you? It's just so part of the exchange that you don't even realize that you're doing it. But I'm trying to work on being really precise in everything, including how are you. When I go to a grocery store, I try to say, it's nice to see you. Or I'll go, wow, it's raining in LA. I try to say something else because I don't think it's genuine to ask how are you. Now that you mentioned it, I don't do the how are you much either. It's a charade. But back to the women. So here's an interesting thing. Here's an interesting one. On occasion, I have said to a man, that's a really good looking tie. And he knows I mean it. No man ventures like your tie or your suit to be nice. It doesn't occur to us. So if we say it, there's not a superiority, inferiority issue. No, it's just different. It's just male, female. If we say it to a guy, it's clear we meant it. By the way, I once said it to a guy at a speech I gave. I really love this tie. And he thought you were hitting on him? No, he gave me the tie. That's so sweet. It was so sweet. The guy ended up the whole evening with no tie on. And I felt awful. It was a great time. What am I going to do? Seriously, I refuse to take it? Yeah, you could say, please, it's your tie. Yeah, I did. Believe me. No, no, no, no. I love you, Dennis. I love you. This is the least I could do. What am I going to say? So it's a classic example of a really dramatic male, female difference. So is there a counterpart in male land of the meaningless, you look so cute. No, you look so cute. No, so it's not about looks. Well, because it's not that important to men. Just as you say, you have this line that is so brilliant. And I didn't realize it until you said it. If a guy actually thinks another guy looks good, he'll rib that. He'll go, oh, you look like crap today. You know, if a woman, if you want to... Oh, no, no, that's an example of we insult men we like. Women do not insult women they like. Oh, you would never go, well, you look like crap. Oh, no, it's inconceivable. Inconceivable. Yes. If I went to a guy I love at a banquet, I just got to tell you, Jerry, without question, you're the ugliest man here. The guy would crack up. You could never say that to a woman. Oh, no, it's inconceivable. The closest friends. When you're in one of your debates with whoever the heck that says that men and women are the same, bring that up. Seriously, bring that up as an example. There's so many, of course, but that's actually a pretty good one. Women find things. So is there a male counterpart of the meaningless banter? I'm trying to think of that other than how are you, which is universal, it's not male. So among men, it's an interesting question you posed. Among men, our counterpoint to what's really significant, and I know people say, well, that's sexist. Women think about how they look and men think about their work. If that's sexist, then reality is sexist. You know what? Leftism is a rebellion against reality. It is because they're all children and they don't like the harsh parts of reality. Looks are more important in the human race to heterosexuals. Female looks are more important than male looks. And to gays, gay men, their look is more important. That's just the way life works. So it's interesting, now that I think of it, I began by saying, do you with girlfriends talk about how you think you look? And you said, no. We talk about if there's something that needs to be changed, but you will never hear a woman that goes, I love my body right now. I love this dress. Would a, okay, I don't want to lose my track, but I want to ask you. So if a woman were going to get some plastic surgery, would she tell her friends? Yeah, actually, yes. I have a friend that just got a nose job and she told me so. Did you think she needed one? No, of course not. It was ridiculous. That's interesting. Actually, I have two and both of them didn't, actually, well, there's no way for the audience to know, but I don't mean to expose one of them, but one of them already had one. She didn't like it, so she got a second one. Okay, so men, the most sensitive area in men's lives is their professional success. That's the equivalent of looks in a woman. I'm not saying it doesn't matter how men look or it doesn't matter. Of course. You have to read a list of boilerplate nonsense. I know, I know. It is very, very unlikely that a bunch of guys, although I don't know, maybe I'm wrong, but I think it's very unlikely. Whereas I do talk to, look, I talk about everything to my close male friends because I don't know what friendship is if you have to hide things. But I don't think I'm the norm or my friend's relationship with me is the norm. But there is no equivalent to, God, you look great in that dress to, hey, I hear you're doing great. You got a great income this year. There's no equivalent. Income is so sensitive to men. That my father, who was a CPA, certified public accountant. My father had a lot of, he was a thinker, my father. And I remember him saying often, Dennis, being these men's accountants, I might as well be their psychiatrist. Once you know a man's income, he will open up about everything else. His sex life, his love life. Wow. Is he faithful? Are his children doing all right? And he was right. It's like, that's the last secret. What is your income? That's really interesting. It is interesting. So I have another, it's so funny because this weekend was meeting with a few friends from college who were passing through LA. And I had a friend from high school and we all had dinner and it was great. And the entire dinner conversation was actually about male-female differences. And we didn't bring up any of the look stuff, but there were two things that we brought up that I wanted to share today. The first is plans, the way that females go about plans versus men. And the second one is professional competitiveness. We've talked about that a bit on Dennis and Julie because I say, and I mean it, I am so happy I work with men. I would not want a female, I would not prefer to have a female boss. If I am lucky enough to have a female boss, that's wonderful. God knows. Obviously, but blindly. Blindly, not even a question. And my friends were saying, because they are not this lucky in the same way I am. They work around females and they were saying how vicious these females are competitive. So I want to talk about that. But first, plans. Maybe there's more of a tolerance and a frequency of BS among females than men, which is perhaps why we have that meaningless, you look so cute, you look so cute exchange. But also with making plans, I've noticed, and maybe it's just my age, but I think it's females my age, struggle to commit to plans or tell someone if the plans have changed. For instance, this weekend we were at the beach and my friends, we were at the beach, females. And there was another girl who I didn't know, but it was my friend's friend. Let's call her Jane. And my friend was going to meet up with Jane, but she was with me at the beach and she was having fun with me at the beach. And the plans with Jane were kind of loose. And literally for 30 minutes, she was like, how do I tell Jane that I'm having fun at the beach and I want to meet with her later? And I'm like, tell Jane you're having fun at the beach and you want to meet with her later. It's not that big of a deal. But then my friend, and I'm not trying to pick on my friend, this is universal among women. I actually have sometimes fallen into this trap. There's something like we're afraid the female is going to get offended. We're afraid the female is going to think that we don't want to be their friend. But we're afraid to like tell the truth with plans. And so it's a really common thing among females to write, we may stay at the beach, but maybe we could meet up later. Like the word may is kind of seen as softening the blow instead of saying we are staying at the beach. We are not leaving the beach. Can we please meet up later? It's easier. It's a lighter touch to say we may stay at the beach. And the other person knows that that means that you are staying at the beach. Does that make sense? Totally. If you're right, that means that women walk on eggshells with women. Yes, we do. Right. Now I'm blessed with my friends. And by the way, so do men. Oh, with women. Yes. It's so funny because I'm sure a leftist listening to this or would think that we're so sexist. That's their way of saying you have told the truth about life. That is painful. I will reject it. All leftists are children. Children cannot grow up. You mean the hypothetical listener who thinks we're sexist? Yes, that's a leftist. I'm not talking liberals. I'm talking leftists. Wherein they don't ask, is it true? They ask, does it sound bad? Yes. If it sounds bad, that is all that matters to a leftist. So true. Well said. But I just note that the word may is... But I want to get to the eggshells. I think women need to know this. That it's part of their nature. They're more easily offended. A guy who's easily offended is not considered masculine. And that's why the word may is used and why it's not because the other woman may go, this person chose someone else over me, or this person doesn't want to see me. So you were at the beach with your girlfriends? Yes. Obviously you were all in swimsuits. Yes. Right. Are you comparing each other to yourselves? In our heads we are, but we would never say so out loud. No, no, God knows. That's why I said to yourselves. I have no doubt. Of course, of course.

This is a threat to DeFi services or other elements of the virtual asset ecosystem. She said her team is quote actively working on the report which will be publicly released soon. Rosenberg went on, stating that quote the explosion and pace of developments in the virtual asset space are frankly astounding. This can often mean the industry treats regulations and financial crimes compliance as an afterthought. While governments should be wary of stifling innovative spirit, we can not forsake the obligation to promote financial integrity and protect people in financial systems from fraudsters and criminals. Now, it seems like the main concern was the use of DeFi by North Korean hacker groups to conduct ransomware attacks and steal hundreds of millions of dollars worth of digital assets, which Rosenberg claimed had been used to fund illegal nuclear and ballistic missile programs. Rosenberg said I am intrigued by the potential legitimate use cases for decentralized finance, yet I know that illicit actors are constantly looking for effective ways to hide criminal activity and the laundering of their proceeds. This is a threat to DeFi. Rosenberg also suggested the DeFi could assist in providing financial services to underbanked populations. These comments were a good reminder that before FTX, we were still in the world where most of the regulatory discourse, even though it was skeptical of crypto, was largely focused on this sort of side of things.

These comments were a good reminder that before FTX, we were still in the world where most of the regulatory discourse, even though it was skeptical of crypto, was largely focused on this sort of side of things. Investor protections, preventing criminal use, and for those who are longtime listeners, you'll have heard me say before that the big risk was always that crypto moved in regulators opinions. From those types of concerns, to the systemic risk type of concern, which clearly we have moved into that space now. Anyway, the crypto industry is definitely getting the memo that the U.S. government is pretty actively hostile to them. The frustration was palpable on Tuesday afternoon as crypto industry figures aired their grievances with regulators at an annual futures industry association conference in Florida. Former CFTC commissioner and now head of policy at a 16 Z Brian quintets did not hold back. He said the SEC is completely out of control. They're going rogue. Indeed, Quentin said that overzealous regulators are driving the industry offshore. Quote, the United States has to make a decision about whether or not it will embrace and support innovators in this country. There are jurisdictions that are mindful about this. This is not what we are seeing in the United States and the clock is ticking. Now adding some evidence to this, major crypto friendly bank singham in Switzerland and bank Franken Liechtenstein told coin desk that they have seen an increase in requests to open accounts in the past few days from various jurisdictions, including the U.S.. Swiss bank siba said that they had already started onboarding new crypto clients. They're managing director Yves long champ said that they had seen increased interest quote across all segments in the space from VCs to foundations to trading firms and treasuries. In his view, quote, it's no longer reliable to rely on one banking provider in one jurisdiction anymore, particularly when recent messaging from the regulating bodies has been less than encouraging. For retail customers, Gibraltar zappo bank said that it had seen an increase in demand over the past few days as well, and is currently close to adding payment services in British pounds, as well as USD C options. Their CEO Seamus raq said that the push for overseas banking is a, quote, missed opportunity for the U.S. economy, given that it has the best chance of regulating the industry and helping it mature. Other banks in Puerto Rico Bermuda The Bahamas and Dominica also reported an uptick in new customers. I think the lesson here is that it's not just theoretical anymore that crypto industry participants are looking outside U.S. borders for more of their financial services. There may be some cynics in the U.S. government that think that's a good thing, but I think for those of us here, we clearly feel it's not. Anyways, guys, the situation in crypto banking and in banking in general remains extremely dynamic. I will keep bringing you the news as it breaks. But for now, I appreciate you listening as always and until tomorrow be safe and take care of each other. Peace

"The lifestyle thing is pretty easy. My workdays, especially since I left social media. I tend to work 6 and a half hours a day. I mean, obviously, and I take weekends off. And I take holidays, but, you know, when I'm off work and my laptop's clothes, I have a journal with me. I write down my ideas, but I try not to obsess about it when I'm off work. And when I'm in my 6 to 6 and a half hour daily sprint, I'm focused and I'm getting a lot of shit done, but for me, it's like not working time is really important for my quality of life. Because I have burnt the candle at both ends for plenty of years. And I still feel the effects of that in my mind. Wow. You mentioned getting off social media. And this is something I want to dive into. When did you decide to do this? What was the catalyst and what has been the results? So it's been 6 years, I wanted to get off three years before that because I was just, I was noticing the effects on my mind. I was noticing, I was just seeing in the world how people were changing the ways in which we hung out, interacted, connected, like it was like the seams of how society interrupted or interacted were being interrupted and dissolving and there was this weird new way of doing things. And for me, the moment happens where I said enough is enough, as I was sitting up on a mountain on the island here, I was watching this sunset and I heard this voice in my head that was already writing the post on Facebook of describing the moment I was in and in doing that, I left the moment and was missing the magic. And my son was just born and it was just really clear to me like I'm spending so much energy scrolling in that energy could be with my kid. I'm spending so much time pouring content into the bottomless pit of the wall. And that content wasn't like it wasn't leading me to the success that I was striving for. And so when I left and I know we're doing a workshop coming up soon and there's a bunch about this story that I won't share here. But I will just say like, when I left, it was both terrifying and incredibly liberating. My brain cells and how I engage in the world truly did grow back. I had to go back from the way of connecting with people on social media to picking up my damn phone and calling friends when I wanted to talk or when I wanted to hang out. I'm grateful for mighty networks. I started out of essentially loneliness about 5 years ago, I started a man venture club on the island here where every Tuesday we would get together and whatever guys show up Tuesday night, choose the adventure. We do the following week and we've done all sorts of crazy, wonderful, creative adventurous things over the course of the several year, 5 years. And of built like true and lasting brotherhood and I built a mighty network app for all of us to be able to stay connected and see what adventures are happening. And I mean, I just social media creeps me out. It's hijacking human consciousness. It's hijacking the way people engage it diminishes authentic connection and just a very clear that social media could work for the betterment, but not with the way the algorithms are set up to keep people addicted to the software.

"man ventures" Discussed on Capes and Lunatics

"Hello and welcome once to gain who blew to forget what you're right it's superconductivity kids this the show where you super connect with us and we super with you and in that connection we understand. The were a little bit better. I hope i'm your host. Charlie d professor esser. 'cause i pro- fast with me as always is a blue eyed bama of the burger pitts hill phil impairs. 'cause he tells me because so is actually a comic historian with a great knowledge of lore and legend i do not possess but he is a very stayed in economic whereas i am showman have says it all speaking of showmanship. Shall we discuss the wanda vision. Yes episode eight spoiler previously on. Yes so so. So this is in. Classic sitcoms format. The flashback episode blah blah. Remember that time the bomb fell out here man venture that was in the middle. Yeah you know. What's funny about this It reintroduces mutants establishes. That muniz have always been there. Establishes that mutants are things. Yeah just not as big a thing as it was records that oh yeah hydrogen give you your powers no well exactly the oh you always had powers which suggests that peter always had powers which also just these powers were always there. But that when you're exposed to an infinity's own a little bit of a jump up and g who was recently exposed to an infinity stone half the universe stats right after divers was exposed to in stone so blah blah blah. Yes you're correct kris. And they were exposed twice which actually goes to my most interesting fan theory. I have left that. I don't think people are thinking about yet. But i think is actually the truth. Wonder was pregnant when she was snapped was she was the children. Were already there. The children were part of her when she was snapped and were snapped out with her. Which is why they were being born with powers and likewise they are visions actual biological children because vision is creating his own horton cells to literally impregnate. His wife is different than what was in the comics. I know but don't always go to the comics. Mice theory is that wander was pregnant with the children when she was snapped. She didn't know she was pregnant. It was a very recent thing you know. I mean let's face it. We know they were doing. The we know they were phasing. Were in They were in a phase state. They were quantum leap the within each other at some point prior to this and then the very short time which is the thing is everything is in the super short time light. And that's i think having that we often forget about this. Is that in those five years really. What we're looking at the super short timeline of just a few weeks or wanda and everyone. That has been brought back from the stop. We still don't know if darcy was snapped or not by the way so that's one of those injured war will which is one of those interesting questions that we are less. But we know that. Monica was snapped as well as wanda and wonder what's net presumably. Her children were snapped with her. Because that is the one thing from the previous episode that was the most interesting thing was that wiccan also was outside of agnes is controls that when wiccan looks at agnes. He knows. she's quiet. And whereas wanda may be everyone's head agnes that Sorry billing knows what's going on with. Agnes he can see her for what she is. And that is a little overpowering for agnes. Obviously she's able to exert herself with her greater knowledge base but she knows billy is arguably even more powerful than her than than than his mother. Where could one day be. And that is the most interesting aspect of this story in one division that basically There's word of the story than we thought. Big kit case the pres. You know i got. I have a big theory about vision. You ready for this but let here in the in. the flashback. Remember where they show her her grief like you know changing view in this into the fifties sitcom and then like we see the vision to kind of like come out of her. Ari remember how he died while i she blew up the mind zone in his in his head but then thanos turn back time. Rip that stone out of his head. What if the visions consciousness has sold everyone to call. It was in the stone when thanos takes it and does his little snappy snap he you know days later he destroys the stones visions often the ether wind has already been snap worth those two kind of co mingle and then when she comes back visions sore whatever is in her. So that's that's really. Vision is mind or soul body because it's the end we see you know wait vision. Well wanna give my show to eat. Man's movie reviews who has been pushing the double vision theory all arm which is said that the vision we are seen in west view is not the physical vision. We saw in the labs at a sword in that has confirmed this issue. Interestingly about that is just this idea that so here i will say we know hayward is the. I was a little disappointed that do. Uc wanda's taken over the town as a as a As her own greed they with the crazy lady trope with that they were going to break it but they went with it okay. It's easy writing. I'm sure.

Monica Agnes darcy five years twice Charlie Ari peter wanda kris one division one thing fifties one two kind one of those interesting quest agnes half episode eight universe

Schools and businesses continue to close in efforts to contain the coronavirus

"Trying to keep you up to date on everything that's going on with the corona virus what we know at the you know the latest information on corona virus and school closures and what not a speaking of school closures we did get some information today about Eldorado county which is joined to the school closure effort and in this case it's so far just next week so here's part of that letter from Eldorado county safety and wellness of students being for most families and school personnel being the highest priority for Eldorado county school district in recognition of the statewide code nineteen situation and the potential impact in Eldorado county school district superintendent and Dr ad van Sala county superintendent of schools have decided the in concurrence with the county public health officer to close all public Eldorado county schools during the school week of sixteen to twenty March at that that's just next week now other school districts have said at least two weeks some had said three weeks I was talking to somebody had been warned for Eldorado for rather another county I kid I'm drawing a blank on which one right now try to get try to get that information get back here but the they were talking about potentially five weeks in and that's a more of a it more often this year kind of accounting not Eldorado county one of the other ones can the president said this morning that he had taken the corona virus test and he feels fine and now we know by getting information from the White House doctor that that test is coming back has come back negative and the president is not positive at least at this point for corona virus he also extended a travel ban to Britain and Ireland is the administration wraps up the efforts to control the spread of covert nineteen the virus that began in Wuhan China also praised the house for passing a corona virus aid package which now goes to the state center the U. S. Senate the families first run of Irish act will provide free testing for the illness and paid sick leave for impacted Americans were using the full power of the federal government to defeat the virus and that's what we've been doing last week we secured an initial eight point three billion dollars from Congress for the coronavirus and that was quickly done and very efficiently done no one thank all members of Congress yesterday declared a national emergency which was a very big deal because it opened up avenues that we would never be able to open up without it and it will make it more then it'll make more than fifty billion dollars available to us immediately and disaster relief funds and that's available for states territories and local government so that was really really good we also reached an agreement yesterday on a new legislative package that will provide strong support for American families and communities in dealing with the corona virus so it was done very very bi partisan use it was very nice to see it president today also calling for a national day of prayer for Sunday one of the commentators said to the president vice president Mike pence's news coverage today along with the president there was Dr Ben Carson secretary of the U. S. department of housing and urban development this is what he had to say about that and I just want to thank all the people who are involved and I and I hope that you know we as a nation can't use this as an opportunity to pull together for good now president trump is going to be recommending a national day of prayer and you know we've gotten away from prayer and faith a lot in this country there's nothing wrong with godly principles no matter what your faith this loving your neighbor caring about the people around you developing your god given talents to the utmost cities become valuable to the people around you having values and principles that govern your life those are things that made America zoom to the top of the world in record time and those are the things that will keep us there to also Dr Anthony Fauci who is the president's point man venture essentially on this coronavirus in here as the vice president is low he was heading up basically the task force there but as chief medical advisor is Dr Anthony Fauci who's been calm voice to the American people on this subject quite impressive there's I do have a lot of information about him I I wanted to find out more information about how she I and I do have some more information on him but first I want to get to what he said today about the international numbers just a quick review of the numbers as of late afternoon yesterday let me start of quickly globally and then we'll go to the United States right now they're at a hundred and twenty nine countries that have involvement with corona virus globally the numbers are a hundred and thirty two plus thousand so it's a little bit more than a hundred thirty two thousand about seventy five hundred of which are new cases importantly and this is something we've mentioned over the last couple of days that if you look at what was formerly the main feature of this corona virus outbreak was China they have eighty thousand old eighty one thousand new cases but only eleven new cases and only seven new deaths things have switched over now to outside of China which is actually triggered our decision the decision of the president to do the travel restrictions in other areas besides China he also had a chance to talk about today's numbers which have changed slightly from this point here but here's what he had to say earlier which brings us now to what we can expect in our own country so if you look at the domestic cases there about twenty two hundred twenty six including the re packed repatriations fifty deaths five hundred and thirty two new cases and nine new deaths which means we have not reached a peak now we will see more cases and we will see more suffering and death predominately as the vice president said among the vulnerable in our society the individuals with the conditions that we spoke to and the elderly also there's a economic impact here probably more than anything else at this point you know the families that are touched by the extraordinarily ill people and those that have died there is little else that's more important than that but there of course is a a worldwide economic impact there is the U. S. impact in L. information on that with U. S. treasury secretary Steve Mnuchin Mnuchin on people calling in sick obviously people who need to be quarantined and people who have the virus we want them at home and we want them to continue to get paid we don't want to be in a situation where they fear not getting paid during this two week period of time so the first thing that this does is it creates a very seamless process for people that work for small and medium sized businesses they will continue to get paid by their employer they don't have to worry about big government in coming to big government debt to get their checks they will continue to get paid we were also very sensitive to small and medium sized businesses many of these businesses covered sick pay but they're going to have many more people that may be on quarantine the normal sick pay and we didn't want them to have to bear the cost so a hundred percent of the cost for these limited situations will be taken care of by the federal government and then finally we want to think of it again as I said how do we deliver money to the people in the quickest way we didn't want to take six months to implement some government system so I want to thank everybody at the IRS the way were able to do this again the IRS will issue tax credits for most employers will just deduct the money from what they owe us but I want to emphasize for small and medium sized businesses that have cash flow problems we will issue guidelines you'll be able to come to the IRS get the money in advance so you don't have cash flow issues so we were very careful in balancing of making sure that people got paid with not creating undue burden we also will have unique circumstances where schools are closed in many places our parents may be able to telecommute and take care of their kids and continue to get paid for their companies but in certain circumstances that parents have to be home to take care of youngsters are elderly people again we wanted to ensure that they had the ability to do that and is the vice president mentioned for kids that received meals in schools the schools are closed we want to make sure that those kids would continue to get lunches paid
