"I started talking about it years ago. I get it the show off stage. The winner Grammy stage the kind of a mogul now. I defended I like it. But this has been a really really bad year for LeBron as a leader his imagery with Luke Walton distancing himself on the bench. And and outs that moment against Phoenix. What he inbounded the ball and threw it off the backboard any other player in the league could have done that. But LeBron did it for the first time in his career. It was not a coincidence. Lebron instead of leading was basically sending a message. I'm done. The problem is LeBron was done. About the all star break. Great player. Great guy of great quality's. Great guys around him. Great brand. Great net worth great mind. There's a lot of great with LeBron. He's a lousy leader this year. Got step off the stage. Dude, got to be one of the peeps. Dude. Take a lesson from the football guy, who's got six titles. And by the way, I'm often critical of Michael Jordan. But I always felt Michael Jordan when he was with the bulls. He was all in in fact, sometimes I felt Jordan was rallying his teammates against management. But he was always all in with the players. Can't just be on the stage. Sometimes got a high five and do a selfie with your followers. Let me segue to this big football story. All my Lord. Antonio Brown's just talk it. He can't stop talking. Larry FitzGerald is one of my favorite NFL players. He is on a shortlist of the smartest most influential professional athletes in the National Football League. He talks people. Listen, he came out this week and said Antonio Brown. Does he realized that he had it pretty good with Big Ben Big Ben is imperfect by the way, but you see this all the time. When people get divorced. There is obviously anger in the first couple of weeks. Maybe first couple months. But after a while. If you keep bad mouthing, your ex it's no longer about her about you. You know, you get a divorce her fall. She did that she's terrible. But after about four or five months of that your friends start looking at you like, dude, you're loser. Get over it. She's not that bad. We know her we like her Antonio Brown spent the past couple of weeks badmouthing Mike Tomlin hall of Famer Big Ben hall of Famer best deep ball throw in the league. And this week watched them on the shop that's one of the LeBron side projects, and he was all about bad melt from the coach and bad mouth in the quarterback. So the last week of the season we wanted to the final game we got to win. And we gotta hope the ravens win. So we can advance at the playoffs. I'm a little banged up. So meet with coach Tomlin, I'm telling them. Hey, mamola banged up. So I'm Anita. Let time you're right. So he like you band up manages, you'd be just go home. So I'm not, Dan. That's what we. I don't have ego. Because I I'm just trying to win. We lose a game. Like ABC should around a better out. Why would you why would been doing this guy? He is he feel like he the owner, bro. You through the demand. Okay. So in that room, everybody around Antonio Brown makes him feel like man, you're landing punches. It's her fault. It doesn't matter anymore. That's landing on you every GM and owner in this league with all the good quarterbacks who can make you a first ballot hall of Famer are out three teams are now interested lousy, Washington dysfunctional, Oakland and unpredictable unusually mediocre Tennessee, Colt McCoy, good luck. With that. I mean, there are stages this stuff, and I get divorces or ugly. But you're way past the finger pointing stage, you're you think. Now, you're landing punches. Yeah. I am telling people Mike Tomlin's. No good. I actually is pretty good. I'm telling Big Ben to jerk. Maybe he's a jerk. But he's a hall of Famer like it some point in the divorce K you divvy up the furniture. After you, hire lawyers. But if you keep badmouthing people. All your buddies in the room..

And I said well come on down here, and we'll you can go to work for the same company. I am. So he did anyway ended up working for me. Wow. And he a decided he'd go to school and get his degree which he did. And. Hey decided he wanted to outdo me. Which he always did it went on guys master's degree. I wound up working for him. And thirty two years ago. Come April third this year poll, I will have been married to his sister for thirty two years. Wow. We both had. So now, you're now, Now, you're. you're you're working for her. Yeah. Miss mamola wedding. That's incredible. All four of them graduated from university of Alabama. And I ever tell you this will be a good book. Yeah. Probably would be no money believe it. This'll be a great book and movie. But we've we've had a good life and. Helium about three houses down now. And we still we still try to live much began about our war war exploits. But. Just go show proof goes to prove all that anything can happen to a racist. You never know that really is an incredible story to just just an extraordinary piece of history there. Well, he he turned out to be a lot better. I thought he was I and I hope I did too. Which was really fascinating about that. Is couple of months later. I ended up giving a presentation at Columbia University in New York and played that tape, and I in that room. Several people came up to me, it was a fairly well heeled group in terms of media people around the country, and I had several people tell me that they would like to do a screen play or documentary or or even a book about this gentleman. The only problem is we never heard from again eleven years later. I don't know whether he's sitting back wherever he is watching this every year. But it wasn't extraordinary moment. It is lived on beyond almost any other call maybe with one exception in the show's history. But we we played it every year. And we appreciate you being patient with us and. Allowing stupid. They're just incredible store anytime here in his made me think about a story that my mom told me as a matter of fact, just a couple of weeks ago, Paul, and I don't know if I told you this before, but we have relatives of my family going back three generation in out from Alabama. So they've the story that my mom remembers as a child about someone who was a big deal in the civil rights movement being implanted. And she remembered one of my mu- my grandmother's cousin's coming over to tell her about how they had just help this gentleman. Get out of town. Gives the backstory J farmer who is one of the people that if you ever saw the movie the great debaters, he was one of the students. Of course, there Washington was was starring that movie. Well, James farmer went on to be the head of the congress of racial equality known as core. And he was one of the top your leaders with all with Dr king. He was a gentleman who I organized the freedom rides of nineteen sixty one on and the first to rise came through Alabama. He had gotten word that his father had passed. So he was not on the bus when it came in Alabama and was attacked and set on fire by people who were not down with the rights moving. It's fair to say a minimum. Well, he winds up in pacman in nineteen sixty three. He was supposed to be at the Marshall Washington after his typifying. They said he got arrested after he gets out the police are looking for him there. Going door to door seeking James farmer. And they can't find him..

Because it may have passed you by so limiter club. Which are who's also contemplating a run from Minnesota democrat. She gave a little like one minute response to the president on Twitter. You know, what the president didn't talk about tonight. He didn't talk about the people in my state and across the country who are being affected by the shutdown. I'm ready to go back to work and vote and get this done. I'm ready to go back right now. It's pouring rain outside that an umbrella. What'd you think? It's good. I mean, I never wanted to these things means to leave. But. It is a very different media Vira. I guess that's what strikes me for many of the races. We were involved in and in that respect it's being being younger helps not so much part of is people want someone young than you and fast. But also if you argue actually are just more natural in this environment. I think it's a big advantage for more to some degree Harris and some of the other it's not just about being young really being able to use some of these platforms, effectively we've seen Cossio tests the night. She beat Joe Crowley. I went and followed her on Twitter. She was like, you know, she maybe had sixty thousand today. She's got well over two million years more. Instagram ING, she's Facebook, live and cooking on a on a pop. She is somehow relatable, you can a lot of also a lot of those followers are because of the constant attacks from Republicans and whose heads she's living rent free. But win thing, ma'am. Mamola Harrah's though, that struck me was the way she dealt with the question, you asked her about the metoo issue with her staffer, unlike Bernie Sanders who said I well, I didn't know I was traveling all over the place. She said the buck stops with me. And I think that's refreshing to hear politicians take some degree of responsibility. And the second thing is, you know, I've never heard anybody called Kamala Harris this likable. There was all this chatter after Elizabeth Warren announced saying a woman thing, and it's an attack on women. Maybe not a woman, then maybe it's an Elizabeth Warren thing everyone stick around a shocking and disturbing case police giving new information this hour about a woman who has been in a coma for years who just gave birth to.

"I'm your host like Florida offensive player of the year. He's Todd Gurley. The Rams running back coming to us from the Hyundai youth football camp in Santa Monica one of seven different camps Hyundai's putting on this summer. Todd. Welcome back to the program. How are you buddy? I'm doing great, man. How you doing? I'm doing good. I was watching some video on social media of the camps morning session. And I saw Todd Gurley throwing the ball. I did not know you were left handed. Yeah. Mamola left. This little Mike big, Mike. The days. I was a quarterback. I did some research at Georgia. You were one for one for fifty yards. No passes in the regular season in the NFL. Have you lobbied? The Rams to maybe throw the ball once in a while. No, I have I have I got time. No. But look also about that one for one catch. It stood the longest throws. But for Georgia for like a year and a half to. What was your biggest game as a quarterback in highschool? Oh, no, no, no, no quarterback in high school. Just literally. Oh, wow. Okay. I'll eat even before I started back on defense. Okay. So you got the itch a little bit. I could just tell by the way, you spun it you got the edge to show what you do. Absolutely. Hey and taught because you're left handed when when you go to throw it it's gonna freak like, you know, all the guys on defense out. They're not gonna expected to become out of your left hand as long as we quit talking about the fact that you're left handed. They will not. Yeah. The game. You know, they'll be game plan. Have a great first game for sure hey, you had a great season in two thousand seventeen. And I know the great players are always looking for ways to get better. How are you trying? What specific part of your game. Are you attempting to get better for twenty eighteen? Approve on stuff. You know, the the the biggest thing for four running back, you know, ball security. We can't take care of the ball. Then you know, you can't be in the game. So definitely always try to take work on security catching the ball. And just the little things, you know, knowing what my do. No, no assignment. Is. You know, what gap? I need the press and. And where should I hit the ball that? So I'm just just all the little. Just trying to trying to get better work hard working out, you know, pretty hard and just trying to get myself in great shape. But if you give me one of your drills for improving ball security, man, really just high and tight, you know, someone always is coming punching at the ball when you're going through the ladder or you Don bag drills kinda have that that that dummy dummy, Pat with someone is just always punching it, but, you know, whether you're just chilling on the field, or whatever, you know, you just always kinda wanna have tight because you never know what would be the. So that's kind of what we try to practice on whether it's practice or or we just sitting around doing drew, Scott. We're trying to keep the ball. Hindsight. Moen? High is the key word Todd is relates to the Rams expectations for twenty eighteen. How are you and your teammates handling? The fact you're going to be one of the teams that everyone is pointing to as one of the best teams in the league. I don't know, man. We really I'm really even thought about that. Everybody is, you know, zero zero you know, everybody looks great on paper. But it doesn't really mean anything if you can't go out there and try to try to put your team in a great position. And everyone goes to win the Super Bowl. So you start back camping, you know, kinda just looking forward again with the guys just working hard man taking the day by day, just letting everything go take care of herself. The Rams have added some great defensive players since the season ended Marcus Peters, a keep to leave and Dhamma. Consumer. Did you notice any extra chippiness or attitude from those guys defense, generally, offseason workouts? No, no, no, no, not to talk and stuff to me. Not as a cool guys man that really cool. You know, sue, you know, Peter does that mean things might be a little different ones? You know, the guys get very excited, but really really cool guys to cooks believe tram soon. All those guys, you know, railroad. Jalen, great, great players. It's been great role models and dads. So those guys. Dominic sued. You didn't expect something surprised you about him? Really? Just to you Mary just kind of just goes about his, you know, goes always business in about ourselves. You know, work hard. You know, it's quiet. He's not really like Mike intimidating. It's like people just like automatically. Thanks field years for sure. But you know, he's he's definitely a cheer com. Do you made some headlines recently with some comments to TMZ about guaranteed contracts players may have to do to get them? Do you think when the time comes players will go without game checks? If if that's what it takes to take a stand to get what the players want. I can't predict the future. But you know, it's it's definitely not not really. Not taking the patriots China trying to agree on something, you know, trying to get something situated. You know, we have a great NFL the NFL PA. They do a great job you protecting the players. And you know, we believe in those guys. So you know, kind of leave it in their head. And and, but also, you know, players players also have to take a stand. That's where when the NFL took the stand back in two thousand eleven with the lockout in it all got resolved right before the start of the season. Now there have been times in the past where there's been a strike. There's been replacement players, and I've been saying one thing the players need to be ready to do if they really want to send a message set up your own games have an NFL PA league where you go out and the players get together and they play they staged games. They make money that way to carry through a strike or lockout is that something you'd be interested in doing push came to shove. Never heard of that idea. But you know, it's never you can never turn down. I did and always a different way. So, you know, it's always, you know for us. Now, we just got to try to do it and the right way, you know, try not to push any buttons or come off just spent for you know, definitely you just kinda gotta sit down as a whole as players in a union and just try to figure out the best way to go about the situation. You know, I've noticed that the Rams have been trying to really embrace LA adding star players making the team better. And now enrolls LeBron James does that affect the Rams to have the Lakers rise with LeBron James there? Notify me man, I you know, I I heard about the bar side. And they just kind of made me wanna go out and just work out. Because. I mean, the guy to the finest last seven eight years, you know, so it's like that's coming to the city. You know what I'm saying? You know, the NBA finals is coming to the city. That's where LeBron branks for me. It'd be able to play in the same city as a as a team, you know, the dodgers who went to the World Series last year. And then you got a guy like the Browns such great, you know, I just kind of motivation who has a player and as a painter, you know, you you don't wanna be the valley team not making the playoffs or the Super Bowl or World Series. So it's definitely like a motivational thing. Well in the playoffs for the destination last year with the arrival of coach McVeigh, you recently told Willie mcginest thank God for coach McVay McVay coming in here. And putting his great position. What was the biggest difference? You saw you had two years with Jeff Fisher staff one year with Sean McVay so far. What was the biggest difference between the two coaching staffs? Coast to coast fisherman. Great coach. Pros coaching bay, man. It's office minded. You know, everything comes up with. He's just so d- to just a great coach man on the players coach, you know, always about communication with him and being comfortable and making sure you know, we're in the right position to be successful and love feedback. So just love working with a guy like him. And you know, what you have a coach like how man you know, you just feel so great about the game plan. You know, you don't have to stress as much as a player, you mentioned XBox you. Okay. With your Ninety-one rating on the new Madden game. Oh, yeah. It's all good nineties. Hey, right. Not. Yes. Yeah. There's some ninety nine's out there. Hey they worked for. I gotta work for mine. Hey, you've worked for your work for your contract. And I know you've said before you're willing to wait your turn. You're eligible for a deal right now. When is it your turn? When when will you say, I want mine, I don't know, man. I'm really haven't really shot. I mean, like they get to that point. But you know, I'm just finished up the season. And you know, you just not really worried about it right now. Just kinda just keep doing me key working hard. Play speak for south and take care of it. So all right. We'll keep it up soon. You'll get the ninety nine in Madden. And soon you'll get the new contract and things keep moving in the right direction for Todd Gurley. Hey, todd. But I mean, there's there's a little like Hitchcock in vibe like the way was cut the stuff. He was doing little Stanley Kubrick ish that what we're seeing from him patrol teaser week. Cyborg looks really cool and trailer. I don't know why Justice league didn't do a simplified version like. In the do patrol trailer. They've added cyborg. Oh, that's I've worked the titans season. Finale. If you watch the there's a post credits scene also that has con CONNER Kent and crypto Super Bowl and the whole Batman versus Robin. Pretty crazy was it was crazy. But I don't want to spoil it. It was kind of it wasn't a thing. But it wasn't thing. But it was weird. Good ending this group of heroes. They can do a lot with this cast. I'm really interested to see how it plays out. George r Martin also wrote enough Ella about this night. Fire spaceship, it's on scifi, go check it out. And I and the fan when they were over for the holidays, we randomly watch this bird box on Netflix. Starring Sandra Bullock, and John malkovich's in it's Sarah Paulson. It's actually pretty good. "But in fact, there was no salami. So probably the squish them to just stop the warning as soon as possible and the manmade disaster threatening the capital Takata the second floor is almost underground flood. Let's this one one door that can get you in still, but several others that. Head out. But you can't actually climbed out you cover to use them. Yeah. But they still have a business inside business daily from the BBC. Thousands of people are still missing. And the death toll keeps rising in the city of Palo on the Indonesian island a silhouette easy after it was struck by a devastating to NAMI this week. It's a humanitarian disaster one that once again underlines just how vulnerable Indonesia is two quakes and ce`namas after all the countries seventeen thousand islands, straddle what's known as the Pacific ring of fire, a who'll shoe shaped area around the edges of the Pacific Ocean. Which is prone to saves MC activity in the optimal of the police and army questions are being raised about the preparedness of Indonesian infrastructure to such disasters. In a moment is not just natural disasters. But manmade ones to which are worrying many Indonesians that I are reported. John three is in the capital Jakarta, and John after the disaster in action. Many years ago where over one hundred thousand people died in a soon army didn't Indonesia implement lots of new infrastructure to create a new warning system. Well, yes, that's right mamola, Indonesia, along with several other countries in the region suffered that awful tragedy of the Boxing Day SU nominee, and yes since then has steadily installed a system of tidal gauges seismographs and boys. Now, what seems to have happened here. It looks like some of that infrastructure was knocked out by the earthquake and some wasn't operational for other reasons. Now, that's let's criticism that authorities had scant data on which to act which has led to criticism around the decision to lift the soon NAMI warning after just half an hour when the rules actually say it should only be done after two hours. If there is a lack of available data, and it doesn't look like a soon nominee is going to happen. Well, the agency says that lifting that warning after half an hour was justifiable. It only lifted it after the final soon. Nami wave. Had hits. But we spoke to a Sonam expert in another part of the Indonesian government's Abdul mehari in the ministry of marine affairs. Who thought the disaster agency should've kept that warning for longer. But he said there were other issues with alerting people. So what was about to happen? The only way for the authority of this warning to disseminate their warning only to the television. So when the issue this warning almost all of the people go out of the building and other that Delic where down so there is no way for the local community. The get update of the warning. So whether or not the B M G local thirtieth warning Michael wrong decision. Intimating the warning probably. Yes. But whether or not this is the coach of the number of Christianity cannot be say like that. Why do you think B M K G? The agency responsible lifted that warning after thirty minutes, I thought I thought this should be some other psychological aspect lion. And of course, this is still my opinion. And she she'll be all right. But if we go back today. Okay, era in two months before we have a series of earthquakes in Lomborg, at least three big earthquake recorded there were no NAMI in several warning the issue so this career distress to this society, and they complain they angry that the BMC. Why you always issued cinnamon warning in fact that there was no NAMI. So stop issuing this anomaly. There's warning because he would like to rebuild our life out there the disasters. So this is kind of psychological pressure to them. When at the time of Palo quick, it is a strike slip mechanism of the earthquake which is not come onto genetic genomic, and they have no confirmation of the field data. So probably probably they this condition. Bush them to just stop the warning as soon as possible that was Abdul mehari, head of coastal disaster mitigation at the ministry of marine affairs in Jakarta, John. So that debate over what went wrong in terms of disaster prevention is still raging, but where you are in the capital Jakarta. There's another disaster unfolding, and this one is a slow burn one. And crucially one that's manmade. Yes. Jakarta, this huge bustling, pretty humid city at the moment. One of the biggest metro areas on the planet has real problems with subsidence. It's really describes now is the sinking city Manuela northern Jakarta's sunk by two and a half meters in just a decade. Now, if it carries on like this much of the northern part of the city could be completely submerged by twenty fifty. Well, I went to north Jakarta to meet Elisa suits, new giant, executive director of the root Jack center for urban studies who told me why the city is on its way down. There at least this one is because of groundwater extraction and also because of the building wait itself and.
