"Of Russian oil Here they are And a move higher How do you even game out The variables in a scenario like this Let's get ready for the president here in an hour and 15 minutes We'll have coverage of that And it's real simple And you know I think all the rest of the media is doing this and I really don't want to play the game but Lisa there it is a gallon of gas triple-A unleaded four 17 a gallon I look at mammoth lakes in California which I think is maybe the most expensive gallon in the country It's inflammatory and yet to the president's defense to a huge body of people This is a big deal whether it is or not It's a symbol to America And a symbol that a lot of people welcome I still go back to that poll showing that a vast majority of Americans surveyed would support accepting a higher gas charge in order to stop this war Four 17 is a distant from 5 but I wonder I don't have this number in front of me folks I'm sorry but I wonder what percentage of America right now is paying regular gas over say four 80 or $5 Oh for sure it's well over $5 in California but you made the point earlier Tom And I thought it was an excellent one I did okay You did great Inflation adjusted We're not anywhere close to 1970 style inflation We're not anywhere close to 1970s style oil And I think it's important when you look at the real level of increase that we've seen in oil I worked at this morning folks It's one of my most famous charts It's a wonderful math of the Bloomberg commodity index adjusted for inflation and yes there's been a spike up but rocket back to the 70s this is nothing like what we saw in the 70s and that shock of what a broad level of commodities did Right now red and green on the screen with our news in.

"I tried to pull information from a lot of different sources so this is probably one of the more indepth timelines we have from the stance of like family and friends usually. It's more based on reports from like search and rescue officials and things like that so because of all the research cultivated potentially the best time line of these events. I think out there if you take it from everywhere and put together things that are missing different ones. So that's that's good. That's really good. Thanks joe so like. I said july twenty first after three unpaid nights at the shady rest campground. The owner reported matt's abandoned campsite and his suspicions of a missing or overdue person to the mammoth lakes. Police department officers responded to the call and visited the camp ground and recorded the information on a police log. Camp number one sixty four was left intact and matt had not returned to it with his clothes and gear still inside the tent. In his food was stashing. You're buying a payback's. The tent was subsequently taken down in skier. Put into a storage locker with the assumption that he'd be back to collect it at a later date so that was on july twenty first now unfortunately for matt. The missing persons report wasn't file until july. Twenty ninth so we always say in these cases that time is of the essence when someone goes missing. Yeah i mean we don't know. Method have been like twelve to thirteen days from like where last contact was assuming. You went missing right away. That's a long time. We're almost two weeks. Unfortunately we do not have a wreck we know. He talked to his mom on the sixteenth. And we know the missing. Persons report was filed on the twenty ninth. We don't know when in that time period he actually went missing so it could be two weeks or could be two days. Yeah but it's always The longer it goes from the last point of contact to win their reported missing in the search and rescue mission starts. Do you know if he was always texting when he would complete things with his friends so we could say like if he went complete silence after talking to his mom. If they're saying hey. We haven't gotten tax or anything. The friends did mention that that they found it kind of odd that they stopped getting texts from him so i would say reasonably. We could say. Shortly after he had contact with his mom went missing probably within a few days after that. Call his mom. He was the actual point where he went missing. Yeah i would only say that. Based on just when i do a mountain like ali's wife because i'm like excited conquering all this stuff in like record time or whatever is almost like bragging tori like. Hey i did this i did this and then that just goes dead. Yeah that's abnormal. So i would argue within a few days of talking to his mom probably when he went honestly we can say probably based on the owner of the campground reporting on july twenty first that he still hadn't been back to his ten. Yeah that so. I mean i think we can probably while we don't have verifiable proof i i would say between the sixteenth and twenty first is when he probably went missing. Yeah i agree..

"It was just that was a little too weird for me. It was like dip your toe in it as we could say so then okay, so then some local movie independent filmmaker. I don't know family on this Model Mayhem website and he said he has his role when did his role which required? I don't know a toddler seen the movies just came out actually anyway, after years and years of editing nonetheless got involved a lot of independent films and and college films and stuff and the local pub. TV commercials and then we'll be called shrinkage because you're in what we call shrinkage did shrink the shrink his respond. I had a small role in that one that was more to read a little more reason off. The biggest thing I could say I did was I worked with a top. This was maybe three years ago. I worked at the top stunt. The choreographer in LA because of my Pro wrestling's at the time full of Google back to that. But because my pro wrestling they've cast me and I had just started doing Jiu-Jitsu so I knew some kind of like, but this it was a James Franco movie and they were to play this boxer and it really didn't realize it was a timepiece the time era. What am I trying to say. Peace. Peace? That's what I see and yeah took place in the 18th on in the 18th century. Okay. So what movies I called It's called The Mad whale so the scene was really cool when I get knocked out by the chicken this underground basement fighting scene where the men gamble on his slave type women James Franco's head appears behind me as I crumbled but I've seen doesn't look like that you you just see us kind of in the foreground duking it out and he you could just see him kind of going along the crowd. All right, so then so then all right, so we're doing Independent films you Like, you know, what would be an actress you went from a basketball player to a stripper to a foot fetish computer snowboarding and snowboarding. Sorry about that too actress. Now, how do we get to MMA and wrestling now what was confusing thing? I think this is why I'm confused fans and Friends along the way. So where am I thought like I did move to Long Beach at one time. I lived in central California and I lived in Northern California throughout all this and then of course when I was snowboarding and stuff, I was back home in Mammoth Lakes. So I just had moved around at this through these days, but we must be the X Games. No, no, was that a goal? No, I guess not if I'm not aware of it. Okay. Oh my God today would compete I thought you said do you know about PBX games? No, it's not compete medications. I just didn't local local competitions on Mountain dead. Got it. Got it. So now here we are. Here we are now we're acting we're like, okay. Okay. Okay. So I did this really cool acting thing and Fresno actually and it's one of my favorite movies is called my San Joaquin, but the director thought it sucks. So she doesn't put it out or give it to the actors and that was her fault that it sucked. But she tried to blame everyone else but she's director. So she's responsible. Right and I was like, this is enough being in this town. I'm going to go back home and figure it out. In that meantime, I had been doing performance art. I took myself to Circus school and did some like Ariel stuff and learn how to walk on stilts, which is probably the only thing is still do as far as circus type stuff. Yeah, like stilts and I went. Oh.

"Lights were still on late morning. The Sun's heat never broke through, and millions of us were pretty freaked out. Don't think of something like way get warnings from forecasters about heat waves, gusty winds and red flag conditions, but there was no warning about an orange sky. Why? Because right now forecasting smoke where it's going to be and how high and when it'll clear it's ah lot. We know we had some work to do to impulse small for casting for the Bay Area. Rabban Mamedov is a smoke forecaster for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, located at the University of Colorado. He feeds predictions to local weather officials. Their hearts too. Take into consideration like mathematically the behavior of these fires. And of course, you have to know how the fire is going to behave to know what might happen with the smoke. So that's a major problem on the Dove has to know how much heat a fire is giving off, because more he means more smoke. What is burning is key for us or grassland. Or maybe cropland. He gets all this information from satellite data. Complicating his forecast, is everything else happening. Is there wind is rain coming are their canyons or flatlands, The complexity becomes mind boggling. And now with extreme fires, Ahmedov says he has to include how fire and whether influence each other considered the creek fire near Mammoth Lakes. The heat release Resulted in formation off on this for we've worked to forecast weather. Ah lot longer than fire smoke. And now with extreme fires in a warming world, it's clear smoke forecasting needs to catch up. I'm Danielle Benton News with the last day to vote just a week and a half away. Tensions are running high around the country in California.

Helicopter Rescue from California Fires

"Talk about the creek fire. How was it that you? I found out about that fire. You know it's kind of ironic because it was actually social media that attracted me to it I to live in that area and was aware of the creek fire. And it was actually scrolling through social media. and. Posts that said Hey role these hikers AMA- pools. Campers pools, and I immediately picked up the phone in a caller joint operation center, and they had just officially gotten that same word and we're in the process of activating a Chinook. Doctrine to assist with families that were stranded at pools. I immediately called KIPP guiding who is one of the other pilots that perform the rescue. My name is five guiding I am a Black Hawk pilot with California. National Guard we fly age sixty Mike's and it is we're in Fresno. and. That's where I live. So tell us about the capabilities of the Sikorsky Blackhawk helicopter. Fantastic, versatile capable machine, and happy to fly. It's got. Lots of things that I hadn't even mastered yet. We came from the older. Lima. Aircraft and just recently upgraded the Mike Model and just learning new things about it pretty much. Every time you fly somebody's got a new way to do something because of course, most things there's there's five ways you can do it and you know the one that you do, but but the guys that use other ways to get to the same result in it's Kinda nice to know those as well. kind of a technology to have on board that helped make the flight possible for example, to you using radar alternators or hover holds or what what kinds of things are you doing? Yeah. We both of those. So we had radar timid. Hover hold we have the terrain integrated into the screen. So we see all the train that is at above my altitude. We have you know airspeed hold out to holds fully coupled flight director to help get the war cloth you if you need to concentrate on something else and I'm guessing you had night vision goggles that tell us about how well they work. We did. So we initially went out there we were under day conditions in it was extremely difficult to get around the fire in certainly, it was impossible for us to penetrate the smoke wall to get to the mammoth lakes. Reservoir. But then as it as we're out there waiting for some tankers to drop their loads, it got dark enough that we did try to gobbles in once once this goggle able, we were to see through the smoke give us another half mile ability to be able to go some valleys and some places that we were not able to do earlier in the day when we tried and had to turn back that's kind of interesting. So what you're saying is that you given the same smoke conditions, you're actually to fly better in them at night with goggles on the daytime without them. Absolutely because The smoke, you just couldn't see, but with the goggles illuminating the fire and the burning embers that gave you a little bit more depth than it. Also, you could see where the high terrain was because it was burning on both sides. So you could see the elevation was you could see where the valley was we could stay in the center of the valley and like another half mile visibility to continue. Are there any kind of engine performance considerations when you're flying in heavy smoke? Sure how you can have compressor stalls in the heated airs less performance than the Cooler? Denser air. So that's part of it not the rotors less lift when when the air is hot and thinner. So that's. Something we always thinking about and we always have performance planning that we do before we leave and then on board the aircraft performance planning. If you get some more need, you thought it was GONNA be. At this altitude of temperature, you can easily get into the onboard computer and put in the correct numbers. The experiencing gets more definite ch situational performance that's happening right here. Right now, this what you can expect the current conditions in it tells you. In meanwhile, all reas on day three of his hike in the back country when he and his friends noticed that something was wrong. As we are. One of the passes over into readies whole. We look. Looked back toward the West and we saw a huge black column of smoke and topped off with a look like senator. Cloud. And boy we studied that for a while and realized that that's a problem that looks like it's from the general area where we grow in. And we carry a GPS just in case we we never use it really, but we have just in case ran a forested area where we can't see any natural features. We WanNA make sure we're on the same route. And we pulled out the GPS and and pinpointed where it was coming from it and sure enough it was coming from. Shaver Lake. Town. We drove through on highway one, sixty eight. So. We tried not to let that get as down too much. But we knew it was fire was probably about fifteen twenty miles from where we were as the crow flies. And then that night as the sun was setting to the West, it was completely obscured in orange by the smoke and we knew that this was going to ask somehow impact our trip. By the time we got down to Heather Lake smoke started to come in the winds shifted and you know it's really just a matter of shifting winds. And the winds shifted and in came into our little bowls a lake you set in a little granite, bowl. And those things tend to truly trap smoke in Chernoff. By the afternoon we were smoked out we could we could hardly across the lake. And started to fall. We had our a Powell a discussion realize. Okay. We need to get out of here tomorrow. Will Get up five in the morning in an Alpine start head on down the mountain and get back to our cars as soon as possible and so that was. Very. Somber. Champ that night. And you could smell smoke. It was very strong and everything was covered with ash and so that night was pretty bad and woke up first thing in the morning it was the same smokey it was dark. Broke camps quickly as possible has breakfast and then headed on down mount. And of course, Johanna was back home wondering about all re what did you do after he left a Kinda, keep track of things. Well, there's a cal fire map that updates. Map the fire status in California. And because we have friends and family who have been evacuated. In the NAPA area and up in Yukio We're very familiar with this map. We we look at it. We see where we're fires growing. And there were a couple of fires prior to his departure. They weren't near where he was going. So there was no concern about that. I didn't even look at the map actually for awhile and then I looked at it. I think it was Saturday morning. and Bam. There was at big fire of Shaver Lake which was not where he was backpacking. I knew he was far enough away for it not to be like an immediate danger to him. But I could see that it was covering the road. He had to go through that very narrow road that we discussed. That, he had to go through in order to access the point where he started backpacking. And I can see that there was no way out and I could see that the fire was growing. To word his location. So that was a little bit concerning. At the same time, helicopter pilot KIP got was preparing for what was to become the first of three nights of helicopter rescues

"I'm Noelle King and I'm Steve Inskeep. Good morning, this Labour Day weekend did not unfold just the way that some people in California had hoped. They were out camping seemed like a good thing to do in a pandemic. You're outdoors. You're away from other people, and then they heard word of approaching wildfires. One such person was v. Chad Kim in Central California. We were there yesterday. It was fine and we were like, okay, it's going to be okay. But they want to drive back. It was fiery red skies was very crazy. What made this worse for some people was the moment when they realize that fires had blocked their route of escape. Some campers needed a desperate airlift to safety reporter Alex Hall of Cake Ideas in Fresno in California's Central Valley and covering this story. Good morning. Good morning. Okay. The fire that trapped people is called the creek Fire. How big is this? So this fire a zit now is over 70,000 acres in 0% contained. It started on Friday in an area of the Sierra Nevada Mountains near near Fresno. The roads out are blocked, and it wasn't safe to drive out and 200 or so had to be airlifted out by California National Guard helicopters. Some of them were injured and taken to the president of 70 airport in the hospitals nearby in this area Now it's being reported that some people are still there, and it's unclear exactly when they will be rescued. Well, we'll continue covering that story now. Alex. I understand you yourself were out camping over the weekend. What was that? Like? Yeah, Like many other people. I went out with a group of friends and I actually drove through Yosemite Park Very close to a lot of the areas that are now you know, up in flames. We did hear about About the fire starting your near Shaver Lake and, you know, we know a lot of people who lived there. Go there often. So you know it was sad. We talked about it. But the smoke got really bad. At night. The moon was red. And then in the morning, the smoke was so bad that we had heard that where we were might be evacuated and because we really didn't know what was going on and how quickly things would change. We just had to get out of there as soon as possible. I'm glad you're safe. Alex. Thank you very much. Thank you. That's Alex Hall joining us by Skype. "I'm Noelle King. And I'm Steve Inskeep. Good morning, this Labour Day weekend did not unfold just the way that some people in California had hoped. They were out. Camping seemed like a good thing to do in a pandemic. You're outdoors. You're away from other people, and then they heard word of approaching wildfires. One such person was V. Chat Kim in Central California. We were there yesterday. It was fine, and we were like, okay, it's gonna be okay. But they want to drive back. It was fiery red skies was pretty crazy. What made this worse for some people was the moment when they realize that fires had blocked their route of escape. "Don't have the the education or the, uh I don't want to say about the film and you've had on here before. Um, but I would like to say that I'm from Kansas City. And I been Truman Library and the ice in our library, and, um, it's my humble opinion. Based on these documentaries. I've watched that if it had invaded Japan, uh, they would've caught us with everything they had. I mean, even before they could put their hands on tooth and nail for every step of the way. Okay, okay. Marriage until how prepared were the Japanese foreign invasion? Well, how prepared where they I mean, the that point you know, Japanese strength was kind of down to its last last drop, but it is true A cz. The caller says that the Japanese were essentially pouring all of their remaining strength or military strength in their civilian population. They were preparing to meet the invasion and to fight us as she says, Tooth and nail Women and Children even being organized into militias being trained how to fight with, you know, bamboo spears being told to use, you know, kitchen knives, if necessary, And so, you know, I think avoiding an invasion of Japan was absolutely critical on. I think it was so critical that if it was true that, you know, really, if you could say the choice was Bomb to cities with an atomic bomb or launched a bloody invasion. It was either one of those is one of the other Doria Door B. I think of that was true. I think that using the bombs exactly the way we did that is hitting cities without a prior. Explicit warning. I do think that you could. You could defend that the traditional way in which Americans have have understood the atomic bombings, you know, sets up this kind of forced binary where you have to choose either, you know. These cities without warning or launch an invasion. And I don't I personally don't think that that's right. I think that there were many other options other than just those two. I think you could make a pretty good case. Although, of course is a counterfactual that an invasion would not have been necessary. You know, with her without the atomic bombs keep in mind that the the invasion of Kyushu the first stage of the planned invasion. The target date for that was November 1st. That's almost three months after the bombing of Hiroshima on and and so you know the idea that the bombs were a last resort, you know, to innovation. That was just about to happen. That's not quite right. But as I say, I mean, you know, veterans of that war had their own very, very strongly held beliefs. About what had happened at the end of the war. And Ah, and as a historian is, you know someone who's interviewed hundreds, literally Hundreds of World War two veterans. I have never made it a practice to argue with World War two veterans about this, I present my views, but I think it's important to recognize on to honor the feelings of very strong feelings that veterans have about the subject. "Donovan was forced to lay off employees. Specifically, he fired Martin Marty Lawrence, also no relation better known as CLA. Be or the Donovans parking lots ever present dancing lobster mascot. It was a hard choice and trust me, letting go of a valued employee is not my idea of a good time, Donovan said. But the decision had an unintended consequence. The building that houses Donovan's constructed in the humble style of mid century. You think you're better than me guy was barely visible from the road and without a mascot in the parking lot, many would be patrons have been driving right past the establishment. And with no U turn available to them for several miles long Route six. Several have simply found another restaurant to eat at By the time he realized his mistake, it was too late. Lawrence had already been hired by Donahues Seafood and Roast beef just a mile up the road from Donovan's roast beef and seafood. In fact, many patrons seeing the signature lobster costume have pulled over a Donahues entirely unaware that they're at a different restaurant than the one they intended to visit. As for Lawrence, he says, he's just happy to be back to work. Seriously, Kid. It's his hardest. Satan's armpit in that suit. But when I see the smiling customers, Duncan the esteem is in, but it's all worth it. On the other hand, if Mr Donovan sees this, I hope a bunch of Yankees fans burned down his lobster store. A dancing lobster fired or let go in Maine on Ly to find employment at another roast beef and seafood shack. Your last story of someone who did not seem needed comes from Helen Hong. The Bears of Mammoth Lakes. California may not know it yet, but they may have just lost their very best friend Steve Searls, known to locals as the Bear Whisperer and star of the Animal Planet. Siri's of the same name is out of a job as pandemic related budget cuts have forced his town to cut their bare whispering budget. The town is home to about a dozen black bears, who will occasionally break into a home or car looking for food. When that happens, everyone knows to call Mr Searles, who has worked as the town's wildlife specialist for decades. The pony tailed former surfer will show up and usually just yell at the bear. Hey, bad bear! You get out of here, he'll growl and his gravelly voice. For particularly stubborn bears. He'll just yell louder. His non lethal tactics have been so successful that he's inspired other bear infested towns to try similar approaches. But the pandemic has been very bad for business and mammoth Lakes can barely pay any of their bills. Mr Circles is heartbroken to have lost the job he loves, but not his heart. Broken is the Bears who I'm sure it took pride in getting called a bad bear. All right. Here are your choices. One of these persons was let go in the pandemic and Good things did not ensue. Was it from New Guinea and ice cream shop owner in Idaho who was replaced by someone who had, shall we say, less traditional tastes from Josh Condom and a dancing lobster who was let go by a seafood shack. Much to that seafood shacks? Dismay or from Helen Hong, The Bear Whisperer of Mammoth Lakes, California Which of these People was let go on. So I'm gonna have to go with the bear story. You're going to go with the bear story. Helen's story of the bear whisper of Mammoth Lakes where we actually spoke to the person. Who sadly lost their position. People are fascinated with my conversation with bears. So being called the bear whisper is, you know, I'm more of a bear Yeller. That was Steve Searls, the Bear Whisperer himself and former wildlife officer for Mammoth Lakes, California He's lost his job, but I want him to know that he is now the official Bear Whisperer of Wait, Wait. Don't tell me. Congratulations, Lauren. You got it right here on the point. For Helen, just for being truthful. But you, of course, one our prize. The voice of your choice on your voicemail..

"Joining us. Open phones. A Triple 88255 to 5. That's triple 882552 to 5. Joining me on the air today on the day of Ramsey Show. My co host is Chris Hogan Ramsey personality. Number one bestselling author Patty is with us in California. Hi, Patty. How can we help? Hi, Dave and Krist. Thanks so much for taking my call the I and 25 years old, and I just got accepted into an accelerated nursing program that I'm gonna start in September on. I currently have no debt from my previous bachelor there any other kind of debt? And I'm gonna have to take out a student loan in orderto finance education, and I just want to figure out the widest way for me. Tio pay for schools don't end up in a big hole at the end of it. You're not going to like us. OK, way teach people do not borrow money. Yeah. You knew that right? I knew that I've been looking into your show for quite a while. And my in the history of your listening in the history of your listening. Have you ever heard say ever to anyone to borrow money? No, I have not. Probably not changing that today. So how can we figure out a way to help you? Because we can't help you with your question? I can't help you borrow money. I know, because I don't think that's wise for you. Okay. I mean, I love accelerate nursing program. I love what you're talking about doing love the field you're in. But if you were my daughter, I would tell you not to borrow money to do this. I'm gonna have to find another way to do this instead of just accepting man, excepting the cultural norm of going into student loan debt. Because, Patti, you said you had avoided debt, even for undergrad. So how did you pay for the undergrad? Yeah, it was a combination of a college fund that my grandparents and my parents had it up to me and then said substantial scholarship that I was offered. OK, So what does this cost? The cost of the salary. Yeah, So the total cost, including living expenses is going to be around 47,700 So you have to change cities. Yeah. Yeah. And working and living expenses. Are you working in nursing now? No, I'm not. Um, I am currently working in a service industry. Okay? And so did you get a degree in nursing already. And are this is the become a nurse. To become a nurse. My first degree was in ecologies. I worked in River assessment for a couple of years and then decided that I wanted to switch over to nursing. Okay, but you're in the service industry now. Yes, yeah. Okay. What do you What do you make now? $15 an hour, Okay? Show and you're living on that. I'm currently living with. My parents have been home for the last five months. Okay. And what city do you live in? I live in a small town, Mammoth Lakes, California. How far away is the nursing Program. The nursing program is in Iowa. How'd you get the fellowship on the other grades? Yeah, Great. So my plan is obviously to apply for scholarships and I've already submitted my fast so I should be getting Some kind of financial aid from the federal government. And then the application period for scholarship opened in October. I will, of course, be admitting that you started in the fall. I do? Yeah. They had an application period opened in March. But I wasn't aware that I would. I was accepted into the program. Okay, There's lots of places you can apply for a scholarship. They're not the only place Great. I also would start talking Tio Hospital Cos. Like the H ch of the world. There's a nursing shortage on DH, talk to them and see if they have programs where they will assist you in your nursing school costs and return. You promised to work for them. Maybe You come out for a number of years or whatever. There are programs like that out there floating around. But what? I just jump and go 50 grand in debt without having done anything else. Just because you got accepted in Iowa and you live in California. No. I might tap the brakes on it probably gonna have to because you simply don't have the money. And you're getting ready to go deeply in debt. And if you don't finish or you don't pass your boards, you're right back to trying to pay off 50 grand with this $15 an hour job again. Okay, He's so the risk of taking out alone you think are greater than the benefit of what you make significantly more money than I am. Yes, After having talked to the 32 year old version of you for 30 years, who's up a freaking Greek? Because they made these choices and then they end up getting married and one lady. I remember I'll never forget. I was just heartbroken. She got married and had her first child who had all kinds of Medical needs, and she wanted to quit and go home and stay with this. A child that needed its mother at home. And she couldn't do it because she had $100,000 in student loans. Because these are the things you do in life unfolds. You don't see the stuff. So you really don't Dave and I'm going to tell you I know You know, Patty, you're sitting there. You're thinking this is a great opportunity, and this is the time for you. And it's the doors are opening up, and it's not. It's actually trap doors that are opening up that have swallowed. Unfortunately, 44 million Americans around to the tune of 1.7 trillion in student loan debt. And I would forgo this for a year until I could save up. Oh, auras. They've said, Look for scholarships or companies for internships. I'm going to figure out every way possible but not signing the student loan documents. And Patty. I'm telling you something. I'm talking to the four year older version of you. I hope you take this option off the table. I hope you don't just hear us and it rattles around in your head for a little bit, and you still pick up that pin. Because it is that it is a costly pin to sign those two moans. I hope you don't I really do and you can follow that dream. But you have to follow it in a different direction. When you do your dream their own weight into being a nightmare who And it just That's what happens. I just talked to tens of thousands of Patty's that wish they hadn't done this, and it only works if it all works perfectly, and it never works perfect in life. No, it doesn't. Kind of like when you got the ecology degree. Yeah. It didn't work out. So what if you know what happens if And you know, that's that's what Covad shutting everything down. 'cause you sound different you well yeah I'll kick it off that I think that You know when we go on our breaks and we we do stuff separated air biscuits is the place where we come back together and we share in fact you just give each other and update just a second ago. I was telling you about something that that I was going to tell you about and I was like dropping my audio out as I was telling you so that I couldn't wait to tell you now is like i. I didn't notice. What do you mean dropping? You're basically saying you chose the equivalent like zones. Oh have lou zones. Oh you know oh you were. You were editing yourself off. You could tell me for now right yes. That's what we're GONNA do but I do want to say next week. We're going to start next week. We're going to start something that How would you even describe? I know I'd add what we're GONNA do. Well Yeah we're going to we're going to. We're going to devote a number of episodes to to a topic that we've been it just in the back of our minds. There's been something thin that's just been percolating for maybe for years in the things that we're GonNa talk about for you know it's been a lifetime time a lifetime decades. We're going to share about some stuff that we've never shared before with whatever with with any audience public so we decided that we want. We WanNA talk about it here on your biscuits next week and twenty man. That's just a tease but it was a big tease. That's what you gotTa do in this business link and I'm I'm looking Emma Watch because I'm seeing if my heart rate's going up you know I'm I'm kind of gathering my thoughts. Let's put rate has gone up at Weird Times. We were doing something the other day. Just like having a discussion amongst like four people and all of a sudden you got your alarm house house I would like. I didn't even say what it was but you. You knew that it was an abnormal heart rate. Yeah 'cause I've gone up before I think it has to do with what I'm dealing with. So just to just to put a closer on the teaser and then yes so starting next week for a few episodes it's PD It's something something that we're GonNa that we've we've made the decision we're GonNa talk about. And maybe even if I didn't if we weren't saying the right now we might have changed our minds. I don't think so no but now we're definitely not. We're we're committed to this but first let's catch up bonar breaks. I'm sick now really my frigging winter. Winter break has been bookended by sickness. Two distinct types of sickness. Now the one that happened on the front side. I'm GonNa wait to tell you about because it was just. It was strange. I do know about that one so straight. It was so strange. You could not tell me about that right and one of those things that like I but you know when I listen. Listen to you. Tell it I'm going to seem like I've never heard you don't have to do that but it's yeah it was just so strange as worth hearing twice right sure and this will be a little bit embellish. Because you've had time and then on the if I can remember it I mean I. I thought that it was putting my vacation in jeopardy and it was us but then I was able to go on vacation. which was you know I enjoy the holidays here in Los Angeles with my immediate family and then we went To Mammoth Lakes Mammoth Mountain. Is it mammoth lakes right where you went last year to go skiing usually followed in your foot's usually mammoth we Californians -fornia ins just say mammoth while we're amateurs who have been there one time say mammoth lakes and let's we came back on a Sunday and in the the previous Saturday. My last day of skiing I came down with the sickness that now man. I hope I'm getting over it. I hope I'm not getting it but it all having come back to the office. I've heard that a lot of people have had this. I mean it's just a head. Cold some people have had like bronchitis and be out of the things. Christi had it before vacation. I did not Landau had it and then I got when Linda was just getting over ten gave it to me. It makes you hate him so now and I will say it's like the worst head cold I've ever had the worst sore throat I have ever had in my life. Where like math and I? I didn't have a fever are and I'm I'm almost positive. It wasn't strep throat I didn't go to see anybody because I'm stubborn but And I did see gradual improvement movement but my throat was hurting so bad I mean it was like almost in tears Kinda like pain like that was probably strep throat and then I was like you know what go sore throat there. Let's go get get robbed that painful. I bet it only strip through a better to make me feel better usually resolve itself but there was no fever and sometimes it turns into a deadly disease. Well that's what had strep I went and got Rahman and I said you know what last time I got Rahman here. It's they call it spicy but it was so make it a little more spicy the mistake. That was a mistake like and I ate the whole bowl but the first to fifteen minutes of eating like I was it was like I was just I torture it was. It was come to find out when you have like a a raw sore throat. You don't WanNA eat spicy foods. Yeah well I don't know what I was saying. You WanNa eat Robin Robin. It would've been non spicy. What ask for it more spice? It was so stupid and Lake Rahman is backwards. More clothe seems like he said it was almost brain. My head is floating above my neck because decongested. I'm on I take advantage of. Thanks right now. More it's what it is backwards Before we went to I had like a Kombucha in the car. Because you know you've been telling my office computer you've been drinking so much khumbu butch. I'm like I'm drinking a Kabuki and it may have of a mother in my stomach and I that that can happen. That can't happen. I know I want it. You don't want that it's the only way I can give birth a yeast ball. You'RE GONNA YOU'RE GONNA crap out of Yeast Ball. What did you think that's gross? One about Gross Gosh I'm drinking a computer and I'm like I think I should gargle with this. And that was horrible to like every I think all of my instincts awards starting twenty twenty off on the wrong foot man with a lot of that ideas here and I think I'm getting over it but this morning I got up and and you know you're up for a few minutes and things start to drain and start to start to settle and you can start to breathe knows a little bit you build. You hadn't been seeing any awesome. Nettie partying took jade outside. When I'm out there with her like I'd walked down the stairs out? The I got enough body movement. That like there was some drainage and I like a Hawk Blue Okay and I'm outside waiting for her to pee and I spit it out. I'm sorry this is gross. But it's just it's what happens and I looked down and it's what happens. You don't have to tell a lot of things happen to me today. That's not going to tell you about why I'm telling you it was bloody but I could tell by the way that it came up that it was like it was a it was a weird consistency so a bent down and I picked it up and it was. What is wrong with you? You know if you'd like if you like have a great and you're like squeezed grape and all you're left with is the skin of the grape. That's what I spit a bit up. But it was blood colored. I freakin spit up a scab the size of a grape. That came out of my nose. You like somewhere in between the back of my nose at the top of my throat was hurting the worst. Apparently I have a wound. You had strep throat man or something worse you want to see it. I have it right. It makes me think that scenic a picture of it. I don't WanNa pull it out of my pocket actual grape. I'm sorry for grossing Y'all out but I actually feel a little better now that I've told you about it made me think of that scene buddy system season to where I burn Tong with coffee and then you can no longer be a professional food taster. And but then at the end whenever I fail you in the tournament you you start talking funding you realize that your tongue scab is coming off in you pull like a big scab off Bruce and we originally scripted it so that when you pull the scab off of your tongue Hong you were then going to stretch it out and tie it around your head like a head band. Yeah that's what we scripted and then we got. We got notes that it was. It was a little too much kind of like my story. The tongue scab alone was enough. I think I think I'm I think I'm well on my way to recovery. Now that I spit out that scab Gab you been hanging out with me all morning told me that and still feel like shit and I'm just you know no I just no bones about it but I'm here I'm here for Y'all somehow I've avoided this and it just had this impending sense of doom because Everybody's gotten sick and I just having sick and I just yeah you'll get it. You hate it because it doesn't go away quickly. It's miserable man miserable okay. Well thanks for that link. I feel like we can go home. Now I'm sorry it's you know. Oh I can't not be me And I think there's something to learn from that well but I I'm going to go back to what I said again. "mammoth lakes" Discussed on Ear Biscuits

"Biscuits. I'm Rhett and I'm link this week at the roundtable of dim lighting. We're GONNA share with each other and with you. I winter breaks what the heck happened on our winter breaks. Because we weren't together other same happened to you. Gold mining is still big business for some

"We were trying to cover. Natural resources for some time. We used to cover a couple of gold companies just because we thought they were interesting and some oil and gas companies well, one of our producers Greg found a company because some of you viewers suggested that we take a look at a company called L A gold L K A gold is a public traded company on the stock symbol L KFI group picture, though, TV people L K A. Gold dot com is the is their website that mammoth lakes. Lake tahoe. There. Yeah. Well, someplace I wanna go joining us joining us here is the CEO of the company whose names KYW Abraham KYW gray tabby launch today, sir. How you doing? Skirt. The big question. Where's the picture? I want to go there that picture just south of Lake City. Colorado was taken from the six level of our golden wonder mine, and that's lake San Cristobal one of the few and largest natural lakes in Colorado. Elevation of the barrel. Eighty five hundred she said, can we send RV up there in a couple of? The afternoon. Like a great place to work. It's very popular this time of year tourists from Texas and Oklahoma the heat loved to go up to Lake City, Colorado, and there's golden them hill. Colorado. He can tell hey, asking you gotta have experience in oil and gas as well as as well as minerals all the way from the US to Africa, Indonesia, talk to us, why joined L K A Y, y you're so inserted here. Because as I look at this company, you guys are going places here, and I will tell you, you know, a guy that's off and on FOX business Robin in the Wall Street Journal. I take a very close look at these companies for them on the air. You guys got something going? You're the best kept secret around talking about your history and talk about the company. We started the company in eighty two when we found a very interesting gold deposit right above lake San Cristobal as you saw a new strain. It was a particular. It was a it was the kind of deposit the really got our attention because we're we were really as much gold miners as we are for lack of a better word treasure hunters. I love that. I love the fact that they're not gold miners. Their treasure hunters. For the rest of the world. There is that romantic sort of feel that you are treasure hunters. Well, when we when you look at a class of gold mining operation, they're big they move a lot of dirt. They've got very expensive and waves. Equipment. We're not interested in that. We were interested in going places where the majors wouldn't go to look at things at the majors didn't want to deal with or couldn't give me an example of that. So when you talk about the majors wouldn't wanna go you're talking about the major minors, the major the major mineral extraction companies were don't they wanna go. And what makes you guys more nimble? They don't want to go to the mountains above lake San Cristobal in an highly environmentally sensitive area. Were they can't create a big footprint tear down half a mountain and move a mountain of material before noon everyday now. Now, let me ask you this though. I don't know. I don't know much about mining. I know a lot about stocks on a lot about about raising capital. But when you have a smaller mind and a nimble company like l k gold and once again, their their website, l k gold dot com and their stock symbol L K I when you've got sort of that nimble company. Can you see the multiples that can you see? Can you see a big margins without putting out that big footprint, and I would say I would argue putting out a huge chunk of capital formation to get there. The margins that attract us about these projects. This. When we first discovered this, or when we I went into production with the discovery we made as we were doing our exploration on this deposit. We found a hundred and fifty thousand ounces of gold in a space of less than ten thousand square feet. Now, give us give us some give us some concept of what that means for the rest of us who don't follow gold. So you've found one hundred and fifty. Got friends five thousand square foot houses and. Wow. Engaged got under some kind of feel for how small. Stay right there. Four hundred. I dated a gal clementine was your name. Her father reportedly was a minor who was in the Goldie industry clementine. Yeah. I try to find humor in this try minor humor. I wanna talk. This is super interesting. I've never heard anybody actually explain it to me will they send an old men into the hills with big pans in the hats all up in front of the big pick. And they just go. Here's some. So what's the panel? Liners from the gold. Rush days. So this is these guys these guys have the richest producing gold in recent history. Maybe in history. Story continues.
