"Actual breaking down this championship game that we witnessed on Sunday. Let's do it. The beginning of this game started out kind of similar to what we were seeing both teams kind of going blow for blow here. But eventually we saw Phoenix starting to pull away in large part when Diana taurasi came off the floor and we saw more minutes out of players like Sophie Cunningham and bria Hartley. Kievan that were coming onto the court and spelling some of these other starters when terrace popped off the floor at spells. It seemed like Phoenix seemed to do a lot better. Now, this is not a dig on taurasi, she just won the goat award. And, you know, we don't have too many arguments there. She was in our top two, I think when we did that, but Jason, that was just an interesting element of the game that it seemed like Phoenix really started to pull away in Chicago wasn't sure what to do once DT was off the floor. Why do you think the Chicago was having those struggles when, you know, the supposed greatest player of all time, the officially awarded to play greatest player of all time. Steps off the court. What do you think happened there? There can be a ton of a ton of reasons as to why a team changes underperforms against kind of the bench as you're subbing out some of those top players. Sometimes it's game planning. Sometimes you've got a really good game plan for the top players. Sometimes, you know, and then they bring in the subs and it throws that off, throws off your plan. But in all honesty, and like, you know, we're big fans of Diana taurasi. We don't mean this as any slight. She did not have a great finals presence. Like her entire finals was not at the part that we're used to seeing her play at. And with that being the case, I just genuinely think Sophie was in a better headspace than DT. And I feel like DT wasn't their best lineup for that night or the night before. And two nights before, but you know what I mean? I think it had more to do with the fact that Phoenix played better with Diana taurasi off and there's a lot of reasons for that. She was playing injured. They just endured a grueling 5 game series against Las Vegas. It was a long playoffs and I think that she just kind of ran out of steam there at the end, but that was my read on it. But like I said, it can be a lot of things that can be game planning. It can be just the momentum, the feeling in the crowd, sometimes you let your guard down when the goat steps off the court, you feel like you can breathe for a second and feelings can take advantage of that. So there's a lot of reasons, but for me, I think it was just genuinely Diana taurasi was not playing her best. And so putting in the subs kind of freshened them up and let them play a little bit better. Yeah, I think that I think game planning is really big. When you're planning around a player like Dan at terrace, there's certain defensive looks. There are certain situations that you plan for. And when that gets changed and you have a player like, say, Sophie Cunningham comes out and is playing more minutes. So if he Cunningham's games differ from DTS, Kyiv on and bria Hartley, they're all different players from taurasi. And so when they're out there running around versus DT and shape hetty, yeah, it's a different look and maybe Chicago wasn't quite ready for that, but I do think that there was there was something there and Phoenix really got on a roll early until the fourth quarter. Yeah. When the wheels fell off. And Chicago made an absolute tear. In fact, I was watching, you know, in the airport on my phone. And I was watching this going, hey, it's game 5, at least I'll get to be home from this trip. And I was kind of excited that there was going to be a game 5 that I could cover live and maybe do a watch along here at home. But alas, that was not the case because Chicago went on an absolute tear, making a huge run back into the game. I'm not gonna lie, there was some phenomenal plays towards the end that really ended up sealing this for Chicago. Jason, I know that you and I discussed a couple of them off Mike. What's one that stood out in your mind as maybe the one that was the true tide Turner that it was like, all right, this is Chicago's game to lose rather than Phoenix's game to lose. The one that sticks out in your mind and I feel like this is 80% due to the fact that ESPN just played it on repeat. After it happened, is the Candace Parker three. Obviously, tying it up after being down by so many points. That's a big moment and for it to be from Candace Parker, who in a lot of ways called her shot and fulfilled her mission of coming to Chicago and bringing a championship to the sky. That is a big moment and I do feel like that was a tie Turner. The point where I felt like it was, it was over or it was out of reach and I felt like not that the tide had shifted, but that the officially the other team was in control, was the back to back, layups by big mama Steph Olsen. And the reason I say that is because Phoenix would try to make something happen, it wouldn't, and then Steph would get a relatively simple put it in. And then they would try something that didn't work. And it just, it showed that everything Chicago wanted to do was they were doing. And everything Phoenix wanted to do they couldn't. And so I felt like after this two back to back layups, it just felt over at that point. It felt like it was in hand and everything else was just counting down the seconds. Yeah, I agree. I think that players like, you know, Ken's Parker played really well, Ali quickly. I was obviously shot well throughout the game. She was about the only player who was shooting well, especially from deep. You know, ended up with 26 points and really pacing the team. But you mentioned it, Steph dolson had that bucket, and it wasn't pretty. It was kind of clanked off the back of the rim and then bounced up high and went around. That shot to me was like, oh, like Chicago's got this. Chicago's definitely gonna win. That stuff Dawson shot. And can we just I gotta give a shout out to Steph Olsen. We have we've had her on the show. She gave a fantastic interview. There's been times when we've been very pro stuff times when we've called her out when we felt like we felt like she wasn't fulfilling the need that she was supposed to. She came back from winning a gold medal in three X three basketball. Came into a Chicago sky roster where her minutes were severely taken down. She was taken out of the starting lineup and was coming off the bench and providing more reserve type minutes. And then performs down the stretch like she did. I think that you have to give a lot of love to our good friend, big mama Steph, just that was a huge shot in a big moment. The Candice Parker three was massive, obviously, but really that Steph Dawson bucket kind of that little like 8 foot ten foot jumper that she had was just that's when, okay, when Chicago's getting bounces like that on their shots and Phoenix is missing pretty much wide open layups. You know, couple contested, but several layups inter I think they missed like three or four in a row I swear when they could have really extended out this lead. And they were missing layups and dolphins getting bounces like that on shots. That was a big moment for me. And so I was pretty happy to happy to see that. Jason, we've got quigley paced the team with 26 points. Candace Parker with 13 boards. Van der sloot with 15 assists. She was one rebound shy of a triple double in the clinching game of the WNBA finals. By the way, also had two blocked shots. Yeah. So she also led the team in blocks, which is saying something for a point guard. Overall, what a run from this Chicago sky team, locking things down and doing it in a manner in the last.

"In london where it seems like. It's always raining. There's a woman named suzy who struggles with anxiety in union new jersey. We all know this is true. People can do more together than we can alone. Facebook groups harnessed the possibilities of communities connecting people to not only their friends but also their interests and passions facebook groups more together get started at facebook dot com slash groups honestly. We should talk about that. Because i know we're not used to being able to count on them so i got it. Listen i i- might. The parsons might is the real deal and administrators as someone who consistently continues. Well i sold. I don't now but like it was a very tough pill for me to swallow win. We didn't pick sean slater. It was like why. And i'm okay with saying that and you it sucked to watch. Jc horn it. I hated watching ser. Tan like go. We thought those were the guys that we were gonna end up with. I mean we talk to on my show. Starred i would day. We talked mcclay this past week in he was listening. Everyone knew that we were going for corners. So you know. We're not sad. It wasn't settling formica. But like it definitely wasn't originally the game plan to go for him but you know i'll be honest with you. I think. I he. Is he kind of i think i think mica wears a little bit of a chip on a shoulder. Even though we did draft him so high he still kind of understands that he wasn't the original choice from the team perspective and also the fan perspective in. He's he's out here like listen. I'm gonna prove it to you. I loved his quote last night when he talked about how. There was no excuses when he's excuses for the week and i i'm man i love that like i. He's he was angry in. I i appreciate that but on top of it. He didn't really have that much of a cause to be super himself a lot because he had a pretty darn good game. He really really did and i was really impressed. Like are run defense was was actually there. We were making hot. Boys plays like there was an actual defense on the field. And you know outside of anthony brown who was getting targeted merciless. Because that's what tom brady does. When he's a he's literally a surgeon outside of that like ifo pretty good about what was on that side of the ball. I don't want you to myself. But i was okay. Dan green icy you. Okay so i mean five takeaways. Nothing scott that. I feel like there are people. I saw at least on twitter That were like oh well a couple like gimmes. Whatever and i'm like last year we miss those right. You couldn't you couldn't throw the ball straight at one of our defenders in has like go for it. Perot gimme all that. Gimme whatever. I don't care. Yeah no. I'm so with you and like you know you've got you've got two interceptions digs nj. I mean again. Like i'm i'm digs almost guide to truly like he's i'm excited about him and also aid. I know too. You're the same person. I saw both tweeted that except for use of his name right. I didn't but sorry. I smelled his name wrong the other day and i got told so i was like oh yeah I was like in that moment. In time i was like i really need hard knocks to just continue through the first regular season game because we needed some aiden content in that moment in time we just did. I'm gonna go ahead and say it like that would have been so freaking cute to watch him celebrate his dad. I just feel like that's what we needed. But i'll all over it. Yeah i had. I was kind of wondering if you at that game Just considering you know maybe mama steph and then would have made it out because the other digs brothers. Not plant was not playing last night so yeah could have made it to both games this week. I'm telling you it could have been a thing. Yeah i mean. I know the cameras would have found interviews there so tract also. Did i see Did i see the did i see. Lv on special teams might making that a week. I'm not making i do. I think. I think i really did see him. Entrepot teams at some point. All i'm gonna say is that i feel like as creative as is kelly moore. Was i think that dan quinn is equally. Ready to be that crafty. I think bid. You're gonna see a lot of different looks. You know i think again. We talk a lot about mike. Parsons being able to pressure over the top you know from this side to. I do feel like tom brady halibut more time. That's the key to breaking down. Tom brady is pressuring him and not giving him as much time to do his. Tom brady things. I think we're gonna get a little bit better for doing that. But again like when you talk about having to rookie defenders who are on the line and i just i am. The bar was on the floor. It doesn't take it doesn't take much ready. Be happy with what on the field last night. And i truly feel like this defense is going to actually potentially at the very least if they continue playing like the last night and building upon that could end up middle of the pack. I really do. I mean i. I don't wanna be blowing things out of proportion but like if the cowboys can put together what they put on the field last night and do that consistently in that is no small. I understand that they they really can be upside. Is there and i feel really good about their chances at doing some big things Yeah so. I think that's all in all like i. I don't like to settle for moral victories. But i do feel like if i can take some little victories away it would be dak looking awesome. Truly truly looking awesome amari continuing to play at the high level that he does i. I really did feel like our defense showed up in had some things to say. I was happy with a great diversity of kellen moore and just you know i think in general. It was an all around solid solid game. Yeah i agree. My only my real one qualm was that. Gosh darn opie..

"I said that. I thought john lewis was taller than like sit next to each other but she was barely taller. I love it. Post-olympics chicago's coming back. You guys come out you get a win against a good seattle storm team and then a tough home loss against dallas mentality ways as a team. Obviously you guys have had some shifting and things going on but still a lot of people are considering you guys like high level contenders for the title this year so mentality wise as a team. What what can you say about you and your teammates as far as your your approach to the back end of this. This wbz's in preparing guys. That's as possible leading into the playoffs. I think for us. our mentality is just and don't even know really had to say but it's just like believing in ourselves. I think for us. We knew coming into this season. Get knowing that we were getting candace parker that there would of be some pressuring expectations. Love us kind of winning championship and going refined oil which is something that we obviously want as well. But i do think that we've had some games that we've lost in the last second or a last minute shot mistake so it's kind of knowing that we have that potential and fulfilled it and just kind of reaching that potential that we we see it in practice like we play so well in practices in. Sometimes you know en- games it just. It doesn't always go well so for us. It's just kind of staying positive in knowing that we have each other's backs because we're really close knit team like we love each other. We hang out with each other all the time so this is really finding and honing into that chemistry that we we know we have off the court on the court because otherwise we do that like we will win games easily because we know how talented that we are pretty much everybody that watched this team throughout the season. You know there's there's been a couple of rough patches but that's growing pains you know you've had some roster changes rotation changes there's been stretches when chicago has definitely looked like a you know a top one or two team in the league and has gone on these great winning streaks. And and so. It's it's awesome to hear that the the close-knit locker room that you have. That's the kind of lock. If you have a divisive locker room you might get some wins in the regular season but when the rubber meets the road. Postseason it's going to fall apart and so that's great to hear you guys are staying close. Close knit working through a little bit of rough patches that arise as they do for every single team or our time's getting short here with you step but i m curious as far as like physically preparing mentally preparing for coming right back into a wnba. You've already mentioned kind of your lifestyle. Changes in that have helped you. Is that does. That lifestyle still continued to work as you go into more traditional five five continuing into into that into the rest of the season. Yeah it's pretty similar honestly. Obviously the biggest thing is not laying outside compared to playing inside for five on five. And same those for the product using. You can help me just as much if not more with my five games too because now you're playing for two hours though instead of two separate games now. I'm just playing longer so it's basically the same. You know just needing that energy. Where i don't crash and i felt a huge change in the last two games normally by halftime. I need a sandwich. Or i need something to keep me going. And the last two games. I haven't needed that. I've used you can protein before the game. And then i used the hydrate during the game with the electrolytes and stuff like that. Just kinda keep me going. And i've genuinely felt a big difference when it comes to playing those games and just feeling ready to go like no matter when i get in in the game so i just appreciate products like you can in other products that i use the just helped me kinda perform at my best. We're so you mentioned this product a couple of times. I'm curious because now. I mean i'm not nearly the athletes you know that you another wnba players. But i'm curious you know for for other people interested in that. Where do you go to find more information about products like that. Yeah you can find online especially my social media. Handle big mama steph. As you already mentioned. I am putting all over my story because i personally just lead a very authentic life like i'm not gonna use products or or put a put products on my social media that i don't believe in and i don't actually help me so you just go to my social media and stuff like you can have the lanes all the time on my bio my stories. My pages no matter. What just my favorite products us. But also i think the best products that they have you can. So yeah you guys just find that question got for you. Olympic gold medalist multiple all star appearances. What's next for steph. Does what like where do you go from here. What's like what do you have a career goal. That's like above and beyond. What what's that next step. You're like you're checking all these boxes. You know that you've done since high school all through your yukon days all the way up into the wnba and now an olympic gold medals. What's what's next. What's on your docket that you're going to be like. That's my next thing would be w may championship. I mean it's gotta be. I mean. I feel like a gold medal behind ultimate goal book. It's tough to top..

"Episode coming your way we have the one and only big mama steph on this show and we could not be more excited to talk to this. Olympic gold medalist steph. Thanks for joining us on the show. Thank you thank you for having me. I'm excited yeah absolutely we've been. We've been looking forward to this interview and really excited about obviously so much going on in your life in your basketball career as of late. Let's just hop right in. I'm so curious. This is my first time speaking to someone like post gold medal. Like this is this is so this is like a really cool. I mean you've won the thing. And i'm just talking to you and i'm really excited about this. But what was that experience like when you realize the moment that you were going to be coming home with the gold medal to rep representing the united states. What what was that like for you. In that moment it was a surreal. I mean there wasn't. There's a lot of words to describe it. But i mean it was just that moment of the four of us standing at the podium and you know getting the gold medal and putting around my teammates and then when we saw the flag off it was just like you know you just get goosebumps and and you're just thinking like this really happened like we did it because it was so hard. I don't think you know our our coach carrot kept telling us like. I don't think you understand how hard it is to win a gold medal. We're like man like you know we'll see but it was hard so i think it was just that feeling of of just so much joy that we did it and that we achieved our goal. The one thing that really impressed me about three x three during its olympic debut was just the pace that that takes place there. You know. it's it's not a long. It's not an hour and a half two hours two and a half hour game. It's quick i mean. If you tune in late you might miss the entire game and so obviously there was some other phenomenal teams represented by other countries over there in tokyo. Couple of close games coming down to the wire some last-second heroics by you and your teammates. So that was an absolute blast but steph one thing. I'm curious about so. I love the fact that you know. You're you're saying oh. We got goosebumps. What was it like like building up to that moment. When you realize you're heading to the olympics to represent the united states how do you prepare physically mentally emotionally. How do you prepare for moments where you're going to be on one of the biggest stages ever in the world. How do you prepare for something like that. It's hard there is a lot of things. Don't remind going into the olympics in just getting ready for it. Almost fortunately for us you know we went from the chicago or the wac's in straight to training for the olympic. So it's almost like you didn't have a chance to really think about it to get nervous or anything but once we got to vegas to train we were really just focus on the physical side of it. You know we were doing doing training. We practiced for like two or three hours a day in a really really hot jam to just prepare that the tokyo elements so we were just lucky to be in a position like that you know and then being able to use products like you can too just like hydrate and to keep my energy off. It was super important because we knew going into around three. We play two games a day. Two separate gains but being able to kind of keep. Our energy of is really important so products like you can like for me personally. I see a huge difference in my game. 'cause you know there's just no spike and then crash biking you stay up which is so important with around three and even five on five basketball so yeah. There was just a lot of elements that you have to kind of think about going into the olympics. You so you mentioned you can tell me just a little bit more about that. Yeah absolutely so. You can't just an energy product that you can. It's it's all natural plant base zero sugar. Which for me has been probably the best part of it because not only the few weeks leading up to the olympics but for the past six eight months. I've kind of changed my whole life style when it comes to my diet how i'm approaching life you know. I was just solely focused on basketball. So that i could be my best because i knew how important it was to be at a certain level for the olympics. So for me yet. You can't has just been an amazing product. Because that pure sugar. And like i said you know you go up with the energy level but you never crash which has been really important for me going into the olympics. Because like i said those two games a day. It's harder now. You don't have that time between you and then you don't wanna eat like a heavy meal. You know protein products where you can just have a smoothie or put it in water and drink that between gains and still have that energy to be able to perform at your best so yeah. It was really awesome for me to to have this product to prepare for the olympics. I love that so you mentioned just kind of an overall lifestyle change. I think that a lot of people who obviously follow your career you know yukon fans in chicago. Sky fans have noticed that. Let us in a little bit. You got an entire. Wbz season plus an olympics. Other players got breaks. You didn't what does that like. What are you doing with that. It was after like quarantine and the bubble. I had gotten injured because i had gained a lot of weight. You know a lot of times. Injuries are based on weight gain or different things like that. So i knew i had to change any dairy. I went low car kind of low sugar very natural with with the foods that i cooked almost every night for every meal. I didn't drink alcohol for months. Which i love.

"By the united states. Yeah probably yes aswell. That's probably embarrassed. Well and south of the women's national team. They're probably gonna win go. i predict. They're going to win. Gold there they kick ass they. It's not there like how remember back when the they're just they just run shit they just they just they just running. They're just going to go and just kick ass. They're going to win. The men's national team is going to be a harder goal to win. But i'm locked into the olympics bro. Olympics lyrics have been cool. I will say this about the women's national team because they are super dope. But i was watching some of the you know the women's games. Those other countries have made strides similar to other countries have made in men's basketball like some of these williams and other countries can really really hope. Do you watch any of the three on three basketball yeoh. I watched the women's. The one kelsey plum. I haven't seen the men's just in now. She's a monster chelsea plum. Yeah bro how she not on how she's not on the team was she tour. She tour achilles. This is like kind of like getting back into the flow. But yo i i am locked. I was locked into that. Big mama steph out here bond ahead like a bad shoulders channels like yeah because she could. I was thinking. I'm like ivan watson skydive but apparently she's like really physical that you can't do that in a w like that but in international play way more physical and she's over here the about the way just getting like this body of buckets and i'm like yes. Yes yeah no. It's fun because it's like it's a lot more physical. And i gotta watch the men's went to when i get a chance. But it's at like the three on three physical. It's fast them. Cats like some of the some of the teams in three men and women. They shoot the skin off at ball like they don't miss. Yeah we'll talk like they're tiring a play the three on three. Because you gotta like because there's no brakes check you out. You have to yeah there. It's like three. It's a great addition to the olympics. Man it's a great additional also. Wanna tell you guys before we get out of here we are going to do a big mail bag Next week it is our. i don't know how to say it is our season finale.
