Ianne Fields Stewart: The Okra Project

"The ogre project is pretty new for most people. Can you give us the Quick Synopsis. Of what they do. Absolutely it's a really great organization that is working to deliver these luxury free delicious nutritious meals to black. Trans folks and it's all prepared by black. Trans Chefs get paid to do that and I love in the interview that she talks about luxury in this idea of taking luxury and making it something that's accessible to the most marginalized people in the community and really excited for us to do this interview with you and Diane. Because you know there's been so many there's been so many stories lately in the media about over the Trans Women specifically dying during pride month and into July. We can't only report transpeople than media. When died we need to celebrate them when they're alive and admit E. N. is such a core thing. So I'm so excited like play her story on this podcast. Should we get to the interview? Yes I am so excited for everyone to hear the conversation we had. To this is Scott and e Enfield Stewart. Here it is. Still. Em thank you so much for joining me for taking the time. I'm just going to jump right in I. Really wanted to sort of learn more about the work that you're doing at the OCHRE project. Can you tell me a little bit about what it is and bring me back to where the ideas started? How did you come up with the idea? I was sitting on a couch in December two, thousand, eighteen in my home eating their ways a masculine person who was part of the organizing meeting and they were talking over me a bit and I really feel like I was being heard. So I put myself on mute and it turned my friend Nyla and I said Hey I have this idea and I had been thinking for a couple of weeks that I want to do something to give back to the Community because I knew that I was going to be going back to a home and family that raised me that I felt comfortable being my complete self with and I knew that that was a privilege that I possessed. So I said tonight you know what if we were to raise money through your fund that you've created, which is glad Trans Solidarity Fund and it's reparations group that is dedicated to shifting funds from the mainstream back into the hands of black transpeople. NYLA thought the idea was great. So we use those funds to pay a chef we worked with me August of Zadie kitchen. The I had the ideal Sunday on Monday a we had a meeting with Maliki Maliki greed. Our hope was raised about like five hundred dollars worked with a couple people. We released the project on a Wednesday and by Friday we had raised six thousand dollars all through individual donations. So we were totally blown away by and made the commitment then and there that you know, will you know run this thing to the wheels fall off and the wheels have now fallen off yet so here we are I'm wondering you know, why do you think there is such a resounding amount of support whicher analysis on that? You know it's interesting. I think that I constantly find myself shocked and puzzled by why and how people believe in the work that we do. It just seems so strange to be a part of something that people are actively saying, Hey, we believe in an Arlington we believe in it, but we want it to continue I think that part of it is that you know it. The idea of taking luxury and making it something that's accessible to the most marginalized people saga. I personally am very committed to interrupting this idea that luxury should be exclusive and rather making luxury something that is available to all people and most importantly to the most marginalized in our community. From you the idea of having you know a black trans. CHEF. Come into your home and cook a healthy home-cooked Pacific meal for you. Unit for black people in particular, the kitchen is such a place of familial lineage. It's a place of community place of love it's it's just were so so many things happen in so much a daily life occurs in the kitchen and so to have that kitchen be filled with someone who looks loves and lives like you as a luxury and a joy and builds community because you're not just having kind of this person who comes in and cooks for you and then leaves, but you're rather creating an experience of community where this person is someone who? Can become community. They can become chosen. Family knows what is possible when someone who looks loves and lives like you chooses you and prioritizes you and says, you are special and you are worthy of receiving this meal and you are worthy of sitting back and relaxing and has someone do for you and I think that that for a community of people who for so long have had to make everything out of nothing I think that's just such a gift and such a beautiful thing to have someone say I will do for you because you're worth it.

"It had been months since Carlin Ramirez had been found murdered at home with her infant daughter in her arms with all leads exhausted homicide detectives wonder if Carlin's death might be part of a pattern they they reached out to profile with the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit FBI Special Agent Jonathan Schaeffer would join the team the stories that the husband's in South Carolina. There's no apparent likely suspects so the first thought is a serial killer known individual. That's where they'd requested the profiler. Oh file had there been any serial killers in the area that could possibly tied to this then no there. There wasn't a at that time it was a long shot. Did this lead anywhere contacting. Their opinion was that probably somebody close to her. Did this with no obvious progress in Carlin's case. France began to despair pair. It scared me that Carla was never going to get her justice but what they didn't know was Maryland detectives and the Army's Criminal Investigation Asian division had been quietly collecting a massive amount of electronic information of course police had initially talked to Carlin's estranged husband Maliki Maliki but his phone records indicated he was at home five hundred miles away when Carlin was murdered but months after they'd asked for it police finally finally had not only Maliki data but the data of everyone who had been contacted from his phone we then requested and received information from the people that Maliki was communicating with all their tedious digital searching paid off it was a development that took them in a whole new direction action buried in Molise phone records were numerous calls and texts with a woman named deloris. Delgado a former soldier living in Florida uh-huh when investigators pored over her phone records a dramatic discovery we had learned that Delors was actually in South Carolina during the time of the murder that data not only how Dolores in South Carolina it placed her in Malaysia apartment complex. This must have been a big break doc. This was a huge break on a Wednesday afternoon. In March. Two Thousand Sixteen detective harding turned up unannounced on delores doorstep up in Cocoa Beach Florida knock on the door and I say hi I'm detective harding. I'm from Enron Low County Maryland. I'd like to talk to you and it's a shock doc and she was very shocked. She said about what maleek and I said yes actually in an interview room at the sheriff's office the detective deloris about the night of the murder if she was in Maliki apartment and if he was with her. She admits that she was there that night what happened Emily Kernan House. She was in the living room and he went to bed as far as she knew he was there. The whole time was is this a sexual relationship. She said that they'd been intimate you for several years. So she's the longtime paramore. They definitely had a long relationship. The detectives now new one thing for sure. After talking to Dolores Delgado Maliki Tierney had lied to them about being faithful to Carlin for starters but most critically about what happened the night of Carlin's murder it if you have somebody that can account for your whereabouts during the time of a murder. Why wouldn't you offer offer that to us. Why would you keep that secret. The detectives had to consider that maybe Maliki just didn't want to admit he was cheating on his wife with Dolores. They took a closer look at this girlfriend who told them she and maleek hooked up when they were both serving. Kuwait years earlier then when harding and Myers examined Dolores phone data they learned she also lied about owning a gun. She told me that she he was almost ignorant about firearms but can her phone. I could see that she was looking for a very particular firearm on her phone. There was a text that read had my last three fifty seven paid four hundred so I wanna stay in that range. Detective Myers dove deeper into Dolores his life. My data data guy here starts going through her facebook. There are some things going on with firearms some information about where she purchased firearms previously this is the woman who had no knowledge a firearm all right the posts lead Myers here to a gun shop near Dolores his home. The shop had a sales receipt and a federal firearms transaction record for for a Taurus 357 revolver. Both forms were made out to deloris Delgado. The Revolver Dolores Bhatt matched the caliber labor of gun that had killed Carlin. We saw that has gone was one of the ones on the list of itself. This purchase of a gun wasn't a smoking King Gun but the detectives had to wonder why Delors with light of them about owning a weapon and there was something else. Mayer soon learned that Delury I said put a box of thirty eight caliber ammunition up for sale on facebook now. That's obviously can't say it's the same bullets but it matched all the characteristics all this sleuthing took months and while the detectives were Working Dolores moved to San Antonio Texas into an apartment not far from elite here here Ni one hundred fifty miles west on their farm and del Rio Carlin's. Mom knew nothing about this new person of interest despite staying on the detectives it's me again. I don't want you to forget my daughter because she was very much loved. The investigation now encompassed a half dozen states but Maryland detectives. FBI agents were homing in on Dolores Delgado. What were you all learning about. The relationship between Malate Carney Dolores Delgado just how lack of a better term weird it was. They were friends friends with benefits. They were lovers but not really romantically involved. They were just sort of best friends with a romantic bet. There was another weird thing. Dolores Delgado's phone was full of tax between her and me Cuny that weren't on his his phone and what a twisted story those tax would tell coming up. I've tip from a complete stranger. Ranger could blow the case open. He said one night we got rid of a gun. I think that was your murder. Weapon Dateline Continues.

"Raptors radio play by play voice is gonna join us on the show. And speaking of the raptors the two big things that I think, have come out of these NBA finals going forward, where you look at it, and go, okay, we assess what's transpired. The warriors dynasties at the very least on hold right now because two of their most prominent pieces, two of their four most important pieces are going to be rehabbing. Injuries for in clay's case, probably nine months. And in katie's case who knows how long. Achilles injury. So, so that the warriors dynasty is at the very least the pause button has been hit, and who knows they may never be the same. Again. We'll see. We'll see. I think the two biggest things that commodities NBA finals when you watch the raptors and Kawhi Leonard, our this, when you have players who have a year, left on their deal who are clearly going to be going somewhere else who are going to want to go somewhere else, Kawai. We saw it with Anthony Davis. Now Davis got traded to the Lakers. And I think everybody assumes, he's going to be a Laker long-term. But we've we saw a few years ago or couple years ago. The Oklahoma City thunder trade for Paul George with a year, left on his deal and everybody said he was going to be going to LA to play for the Lakers, clippers or somewhere in the west coast, he winds up staying he winds up staying on a max deal in. Okay. See. Kawhi leonard. We'll see what he ends up doing. I don't think he's going to stay in Toronto. I think he's gonna go to LA. I hope he stays in Toronto as somebody who lives in a city with a team in the Western Conference. But here's the thing. Unlike Paul George Kawhi Leonard took his team on a playoff run that ended with ultimate success in. So I wonder if some teams now we're going to take a look at players who are in situations like George was like Leonard was, like Davis is, I guess, was now that he's been traded to the Lakers and maybe maybe willing to push the chips to the middle of the table and take a risk and say, you know what if it's a good enough player and we're in position where we feel like this guy can get us over the hump Toronto was not a bad basketball team when they traded for Kawhi. But they had a ceiling. And they broke that ceiling by training for him for the one year. Teams now I think that would normally be looking at a why would we trade for a guy who was only got a year left on his deal if he's a good enough player? And you got the assets to go do it. If you've got the balls to do it you cannot point to the raptors and say, hey, look it worked for them. We were trying to mirror what they did. I think that's number one. Number two, is that this load management thing is going to become a big problem for the NBA in the regular season? Why Leonard miss twenty two games for load management reasons throughout the season. And he looked fresh as a daisy throughout the playoffs. I know he's a guy who was coming off a quad injury that kept about all of last year. But the fact of the matter is these tickets to these gains are big, big dollars. And look, this is not new resting players had been a problem already back to backs things like that. And I know the league has tried to has tried to combat that by kind of stretching the season out a little bit more. Starting the season earlier fewer back to backs. We're talking twenty two games. Kawhi Leonard sat for a quarter of the regular season. Kevin Durant shredded achilles. I mean you don't think teams looking at both of those things an older player tearing an achilles more importantly Kawai leading team to a championship with all of that rest or in the regular season. You don't think teams are going to look at that and take whatever they used to do rest wise for veteran players and turn that baby up a notch. Going to be a big problem bubbling problem for the NBA right now. My opinion, your thoughts eight five five two one two, four CBS. Let's go to start it off with Chris who is on a on a mobile phone right now. I believe, Chris, you're on CBS sports radio fire away. Happy Father's Day to and to you as well. Thank you. So I just wanted to make a point to what you said earlier about how as an opposing fan. I'm ready for the warriors to offer. Kevin Durant big money. After injury into that. Older season. I go ahead buddy. Go ahead. He's going to sink them later in that deal. Yeah. Yeah. I think when you look at the ways at dynasties can ultimately go down. Chris, I think one of the ways that they can go down is if teams get a little too sentimental, and I think signing Kevin Durant to a max deal with an achilles injury. That's going to cost him about a year, a year and a half of, of quality activity is to me, almost feels it almost feels like there's some nostalgia bacon. Hey, let's keep the band together. When you look at that and just watch it's not a good move. Absolutely not. Appreciate the phone call Chris. Yeah. Look. I'm not a warriors fan. I said it on this show rooting for the Golden State Warriors is like rooting for the IRS. Now, I don't know if that's still holds true. I think the IRS is in better shape than the warriors are right now. But generally speaking over the last three years, what's they got Durant. Once they got Kevin Durant. I mean, honestly, like how much fun is it to root for the warriors? Really, I guess it's fun. If you live in Oakland or you live in the bay area. But if you're just someone who's a casual fan without a dog in the fight, and you're sitting down rooting for the warriors. How much fun can that be now gambling can make it fun? I will admit that different story. But I, I think I speak for a lot of people around the NBA media members covering the NBA fans in other cities where if we woke up tomorrow, and there was a tweet from Adrian Wilson arouse ski saying that the. The Golden State Warriors, and Kevin Durant have agreed to a four year hundred and forty million dollar max deal. Whatever it is. It's about what he would get if he went out on the open market. I know the warriors can offer more more years more money. He started to get to an age, where I, I don't know of teams are going to be ready to give him four or five years. We'll see. I think he will be achilles thing is obviously, a huge, huge variable. It's been injected into this. My point is if we all wake up and see that the warriors have signed, Kevin Durant to a long-term max deal. I'm dancing. I'm laughing. I think it'd be a terrible move for the warriors given the nature of this injury. Given where that would push them for luxury tax and everything else. I think it'd be a terrible move for them. Which is why they do it. Not a warriors fan. All right. Right. My backyard here in Houston. Maliki Maliki were up on CBS sports radio. What's happening? My man. And I love you in a rich your show been watching. I've been listening to favor. Appreciate it. What it is. No doubt man. Hey, so let we kick it off with, with all rockets man. You know, obviously should be able to capitalize on the situation problems day, all with you. All right now here about Chris Paul one that want to kick rocks head out Capella for my in my opinion. I feel like they're holding back his development, capable middle role situation versus living living involves evolved. I'm thinking, what were we we have? I'll tell you capitalize on this. We'll get your opinion. How could we even know? Wh what can we do to do that? But then let me let me about on the on the train. Sure. With the, the Lakers that was. Of course it was. You know they had to make a call. But you just try to for off injured superstar player and you gave away so much to tokens. They're already has, we had a great year of Merck tick or. Would do holiday. Now you had some great pieces now. He has another year. The Chesapeake to play with the ball. Ingram bringing some veterans or keeping the ball is much people may not like him. I mean if he can evolve in develop he's a solid point guard. So now you've got the pelicans in all backyard. They actually have the ability, maybe not this year but next year and moving forward, if they have a decent coach system, they're going to be so. So. What does that? Yeah. Yeah. Let me let me jump in me up against it. I appreciate the phone call. And I appreciate the kind words, I think for New Orleans, we know they're going to be fun to watch with this group. A lot of it's gonna come down to is I on Williamson really guy worthy of the hype pity's getting the number one overall pick, lonzo's a nice player. Brandon Ingram can do some things drew holiday has been doing all star game you mentioned Julius Randle like there are pieces on that roster. Obviously, they've got the fourth pick in the draft. And they've got they, they essentially control the Lakers draft picks for the next several years. His addition to the picks that they're getting outright. There's little clauses built in to where they can flip flops spots with the Lakers. If they want to don't think it's going to be relevant for the next couple of years because the Lakers are going to be better than the pelicans. But the pelicans ability to really take step as a franchise is gonna come down to Zion Williamson really a guy who's worthy of the number one overall pick he's worthy of the number one overall pick. But if he guy who has a number one overall pick is going to be mentioned alongside quite ironic. Guys, like LeBron, Anthony Davis. Or is he just a guy who happens to be a pretty good player who happens to be the best player in a year where you know, maybe it's not the deepest? I shouldn't say it's not the deepest. There's good players in this draft. It is it is it going to turn out that he's just a pretty good player? Not a not a franchise, foundational type of player. That's the big key for the pelicans from a success standpoint. They're going to be supremely. Watchable. I just don't know how many games are going to win as far as the, the rockets go. Let me do this. Let me save that Maliki hopefully stick through the, the update in the break here because we're up against it, but I do have thoughts on the rockets and you mentioned Chris Paul and their story, surfacing. The Chris Paul wants out of Houston. I want to I want to address that. And some of the things that Maliki had to say about the rockets eight five five two one two, four CBS, eight five five two one two four two two seven. If you want to grab a line and get in the bottom of the hour. Right now time for a sports update. Here's Mike McCann. Sports play at the US open keeping an eye on the leaders.

"He's always been a good game. So pretty much talked him out of time. Robert, you know, he he played here. Right. Under me. So, you know, I reach out to him every every camp if anything goes when he got injured, you know, I talked to him broke your record. Yeah. He did. Did I'm happy to see that too. Man. I told him when I when I when I left I wanted all my records gone. So for him to have a great career, and you know, move to the next level, man. It was kind of like watching my little brother just just be successful. So it's cool, man. And you know, he had the injury. So I talked to him he shanked him back from it. And I'm excited to see what he's gonna do this season. If you've been back in Atlanta all week getting becoming a part of all the Super Bowl activities going on. It's great having such a big event in Atlanta. Yemen is cool. You know, I just having experienced to come here for the Super Bowl, and so many things to do. But to be an Atlanta, you know, to get back to Georgia state man, and kind of have fun with my guys is cool. Your first season in Miami. And we will keep you too long. But that for you had some injuries situations. How how is the how is your off season going is going? We're very very early in the off season. And I know you're always thinking about the next year. Right, right. It's going real good, man. I'm in the building every day, you know, just working on this hip, everything is on schedule on the hill and pretty fast, and we we're moving forward. I'll be back in town. Albert always great to see you coming over the best of luck with the Miami Dolphins season. We'll be watching. Thank you. All right. Wanna thank Albert Wilson. Georgia state wide receiver now with the Miami Dolphins. The former Kansas City Chiefs great heaven him back in the building here today Jamal may is here again, soft you other former Panthers football players that are here. You know? You know, how it is? You played football in high school Lamont, even when it's college basketball in the south it's college football season. And it's pro football season, obviously because you've got the NFL here, obviously the Super Bowl here. But the great to see those guys that's one thing. I liked about a lot of the former student athletes at Georgia state, look with Georgia state, Georgia Southern and they're all here. Great having these guys back in the arena, so great to see them. And again, they got to see a a really good wind today for Georgia. State panthers. Win it here by the final score of eighty one seventy two and. Let's take a look at the statute. We're going to hear some second half highlights as well. Panthers. Win at eighty one seventy two Georgia state ends up shooting right at fifty percent from the floor for the ball game. Thirty out of sixty Panthers were ten of twenty seven behind the three point line eleven of seventeen at the free throw line. They were dead even in rebounds with Georgia Southern thirty four piece five offensive for Georgia state, Georgia Southern had seven Georgia state led by one two three four in double digits Demark assignments was ten for twenty today. Twenty nine point six rebounds. He was four of eight behind the three point line five for eleven at the free throw line. So twenty nine at six with one assist. Two blocks in forty minutes, basically played almost the entire ballgame. Indeed. I mean, you only checked out for that one time. We thought he was gonna take a breather. And I believe it was at the sixteen minute Martin we talked about, hey, if he's going to take a breather ticket now because we need them down the stretch and came right back in in between. Does attempts for Georgia. Southern so great defensive job. They took care of the ball on the eleven turnovers. Nana says created six steals for blocks. I mean, a good overall effort to go away and win by nine points. Cain Williams off the bench played thirty six minutes. Nineteen points, two rebounds with six for eleven one for two and I bought that six for six down the stretch from the free throw line, man. I mean, that's what you want your point guard to do. We talk about being a point guard and leading the team is not always about scorn Phil goal. It's about doing the right things making the right place making free throws when you need them because we knew that was achilles heel of ours. And surprisingly enough as I look at the free throw attempts only he and DeMarcus hit took free toes. Twelve point six rebounds. Four Maliki Maliki was five for eight from the floor to for four behind the three point line again, twelve and six with one assistant thirty three minutes. Jeff Thomas who we talked to a few minutes ago. Twenty seven minutes, ten points, six rebounds, five for ten. He was interestingly enough over five on his three point attempts. But he also had two assists one block and two steals doesn't anomaly for for Jeff Tommaso greatest shooter is he is and these were open looks as well, these weren't forced attempts. And so it was just an off night form. Coach hunter talked about even in the pre-game in regards to the mic is the markets is off night the previews week he'll bounce back from that. He may go by six the next game. Who knows Jordan Tyson? Got the start his fourth of the year. Twenty one minutes two points, eight rebounds, the others starter Devon Mitchell. Played thirty one minutes nine points and one rebound three for eight. They were all three point field goal attempts. Everybody else who played. Got in late and did not score. Again. The Panthers shoot right at fifty percent from the floor thirty out of sixty Georgia Southern had one two three four in double digits led. By Kwon Jackson who shot seven for fourteen twenty points, three rebounds in thirty seven minutes. Fifteen points for Isaiah Crawley also had three rebounds and eleven points apiece for Turkey Brown and Simeon Carter Brown today was four for nine over four and his threes. Eleven points, five rebounds, six assists. One steal in those thirty nine minutes. Monty Glenn had eight points, ten rebounds, five points for Calvin wish. Art, Elisha mccaddon had two and David Lee. Jones played did not score. They were twenty six fifty six they shoot forty six percent from the floor this afternoon. They turned it over fifteen times, they at three blocks six deals, Georgia state. Pretty good job taking care of the ball. They turned it over just eleven times, they had four blocks and six. Steals points off turnovers. Georgia state twenty off of the fifteen turnovers. So that's another one of those telling stats that kind of jump right off the sheet at you. That's the difference in the game. We talked about it being a half court game for much of the first half. And even a stretch during the second half. And when George state can get turnovers and turn into transition points like much of those twenty it's gonna be tough to beat Georgia state a winner here this afternoon by the final score of eighty one seventy two we'll take our final break. We'll come back here some highlights and check the sunbelt schedule. I don't think there are any other games that are underway yet that comes your way.

"And Jeff pork skin. They're located at twenty two ten Sylvan road in east point mutt. And Jeff Bork's kid's best cracklins and pork rinds in the southeast. Three forty eight to go here in the first half. We're at the Georgia state sports arena. Downtown atlanta. Georgia state as a ten point lead thirty three twenty three and is sold methodical. How they've done it. I mean like you said last time out before this media timeout. Coast decided to come back with three quarter court breasts solid Louisiana Monroe might be a little fatigue after after that game close game and the travel and also soluble Saiki with the ball handling be because the sale is not looking very solid. So let's see if we continue down that path to really speed them up and hopefully they make mistakes. Coming out of that media timeout Cain Williams, DeMarcus Simon's with Ben Levy, Mitchell and Thomas. I want to see Georgia state locked in on his defense from this. They've given a lot of layups. You level. Inbound the ball or tells going to chase it back back court, and they will kind of reset their offense comes into Newman up top of the left wing try to stay away from Kane Williams right side back in the hands of Airtel. Retell back the Newman Newman looking for some room back to tell up top right wing attack the goal. He's gonna drive gonna leave it off get out of the way going up Tyree white for a dunk. He's got four and it's thirty three twenty five three twenty to go here in the first step to say with the lead in the ball. Sorry about that lot middle penetration. Which sucked everybody in made created easy. Dump off when it's done. Simon's had the ball lost the dribble it between his legs picked up by Tyree. White now Newman's got it. They get it ahead. You're tell on the right wing tell trying to get into the paint. He slid should have been a walk though. Whistle. Travis Munnings dot comes over and takes the ball Munnings back in his way back in his way. And he lost it, and it's picked up by Kate Williams. Maybe still for one of the league's lease steel leaders. Third in the sunbelt conferences came Williams in the steals category. Here's DeMarcus Simon's in the front court to his right mock-ups to Jeff Thomas Thomas of the dribble going down low the baseline firing it out up underneath. And actually, we may have been kick ball. But no whistle on that one new back. The other way the trailer is tell quickly sends it over to Harris fires from the right wing about. Fifteen feet up a shot. No good. Panthers come up with a REBA back the other direction to fifteen to go on a turning clock is what a slow the pace a little bit. Throw in the steals and turnovers. It's been up and down for most of the first-half. Here's a lob entry the Ben Levy bullet goes up. Our it up off the window up and good Kennedy. Got fouled on the play surrounded by three maroon jerseys, but made a nice spin move baked it right off the window. Good recognition by came was s has had to take over a lot of the ball handling responsibility. Initiating the offense, but we talked about the versatility to me. Ben Levy, recognizing that time, even though he's a smaller big having a size advantage and taken advantage of that size advantage in the painters and went up until then Levy at the line trying to complete a three point play. It's up. No, good off the backfired. 35-25 Georgia state holding onto a ten point lead. Now, we're inside of two minutes to go here in the first half. Ramen Newman top of the key Georgia state forty-three percent from the floor Hertel front the money left wing Harris over the Newman on the right side. Looking for help gotta get it. Back to Travis Munnings seven on the shock blocked for the war hawks. Here's the lob the Munnings baseline double team dot the way Harris up top the Newman for three off the back guy or no good battle for the rebound. Nelson. Phillips, Travis Munnings going for the loose ball. And I think they're going to say that Nelson touched it last. I'm okay with that obviously would have loved the deficit rebel. But at least. Doesn't create an opposite rebound with a chance to go back up to scored a basket. So researcher defense and hopefully get another stop. Panthers. Getting out rebounded one eighteen seventeen with five rebounds. Scissor tell off the inbounds one twenty two to go on a journey clock day shot Smith for three missed another one. But white get an offensive rebound. That's the six Harris, drives it all the way up partially blocked by Marcus. Oh, they're going to call foul on Simon's on that block shot. I love to see a replay. I thought he went up article picky. Got a piece of itself. A little bit too much body in and around the chested waist area. Trae Harris back at the free throw line is only two points about three points. Have come from the line afternoon. Sixty percent from the stripe this year. Wilson and Phillips to the bench Thomas and Mitchell back in the floor for Georgia state pick. You might see something drawn up even one of those gentlemen, the three point shot coach hunters of trying to go in with the momentum. And the halftime. Kind of like that three that Maliki hit the other night. Got it copes DC thirty-five twenty-seven you brought it up. Here's came Williams into the front court with a minute to go here in the first half jevon Mitchell. Consumer takes the ball from Kane right side finds Maliki Maliki right here in front of us. And finally Simon's will come up to take seven on the shot clock Simon's over here to Ben Levy wanted a three he's gonna drive towards the basket drives up with the right hand off the window. It's up and good. And he avoided the Taurus, they're going to say if I think if I saw me coming up with that much Steve by get out of the way as well. Thirty seven twenty seven Georgia state up ten again got a timeout call it looks like it's going to be a thirty second timeout golf by Louisiana Monroe. Thirty seven point four on the game clock. Twenty three on the shot clock for the war. Hawks barn. Another office rebound of some sort. She'll get another possession there and absorb coaches already preparing for that not only for this the Bissett possession. But also with installing offense quick reminder up next on the schedule for Ron hunter. At Georgia state basketball back on the road. They're going to make the Alabama road trip next week. Thursday night will be down in mobile at the Mitchell center to take on the. South alabama. Saturday afternoon, we'll be Trojan arena Troy, Alabama. To take on the Troy Trojans. Get a chance to see former Georgia state assisted to left it yourself. Phil Cunningham who's been the head coach now for a few years over Troy. Hey, Bill was actually the guy recruit diversity and left safe suburb with Mississippi State, but who still really good friends. I wish you the best but not against us. Inbounds pass to tell fifteen on the shot clock working around the screen top of the key still on the dribble bass day shots. Smith. Swing it to Munnings in the corner Harris Harris back out front to Smith five on the shot clock. Smith working against Damon Wilson has to let it fly. It's up in snow good. He got fouled on the plane. You can tell us really working hard last time. We got a statute he was one for seven in the lone. Field goal was three. All the point all the shot attempts were also three at picky settling. But I think also key in on defensive scheme is geared towards stopping him so far so good. So they Sean Smith at the line. This will be a two-shot opportunity. Sixteen seconds to play free throw is up. No good. You will Emma seventy seven percent free throw shooting ballclub, Georgia state sixty six percent or eleven percentage points better than we are at the line, and that's huge huge, especially as you get down to the beat up your schedule. Second free throw good Smith hits it. It's funny though. It's like I say to coach owner of the assistance, we seem to get out rebound and give up a lot of offensive rebounds. Get more often than on their walking out of the arena with a win two things. Why DC wanting to stills and the points of eternal the second thing is we've seen in three at a high cliff. So we're trading tools the threes. Even with those rebounds. We're going to win both game. Let's hope they can keep it up fifteen point nine seconds to go shots. Smith. One of the two he's got three. That'll be another big key bed should the other night. Jeff Thomas had a big first half. Only scored three of the second half. Devon didn't score the first half the other night ended up with what thirteen points through can't let Smith have that strong second half or this one could get a little bit more interesting. He's a veteran guy. He's not gonna stop just because he's missed a few shots in the first half Levy and the lane goes up off the window. No good turns around taps it up with just under two seconds to go. Maliki? Ben Levy, again, a bucket with inside a two seconds to go walking off towards the locker room. Who else do you expect to be big time big moments other than DeMarcus ombudsman leak Ben Levy that was a great great recognition took his time. Made his move got the. You want the president of Monica right back up of tap it in I think, it's just one extra rebound me. We'll go to the locker room with nine Georgia state leading by eleven here at the end of the first half thirty nine to twenty eight. We'll get back with our panther halftime show. Brought to you by Coca Cola after this timeout, sixty second break, Georgia state,.

"But that doesn't necessarily mean tickets to the all star game. Does it Eric that does not mean tickets to the game? If you want to go to the field competition on Saturday night, which is the dunk contest. I point shooting contests if we're on from there with or the all star game itself. There's really no way for the general public tickets, the NBA controls, homo see Hornets limited numbers that they provide to some ticket holders in a lottery and other than that you're left with the retail market, which is you can imagine John if quite happy. Yeah. I would imagine in and as you just said, and I'll emphasize the the tickets at the Hornets get going into a lottery for season ticket owners. So even they have short chances of participating in that. I guess I was a little surprised. Not that. I think that I think about it maybe not. But that the all star game are the all star competition and the slam dunk and stuff wasn't a fan intensive type thing. Yeah. I think that the way that developed over the years it's just that the NBA has gotten so much bigger. You have all these corporate sponsors, and and other people who want to get in who do business with the NBA. And so it's just become a harder in her ticket. I think of the events that are accessible to the general public. I think one of the best ones is going to be the practice session and media day for the all stars is going to be at the bojangles Coliseum, and John what's interesting about that. Of course, if you have an eight thousand seat arena where you'll be seen Kevin Durant Steph curry and Mitchell school, hopefully Kemba Walker. You don't usually see them in a building. That's all. Now. That's pretty cool. I don't know what anybody remembers about the first all star game that we had back at the high of a thousand years ago, but I remember d Brown out of Jacksonville university. Then a Boston Celtic in the slam dunk. Contest was wearing Reebok's. Remember those used to have the button on them where you would pump them up. Yeah. The Reebok pump. That was a that was a huge moment. Then he he he he pumped up his shoes, and then made his dunk while the reason I probably knew that as I had come up here from Jacksonville and Debrecen used to be on our morning show a bunch when he was playing for Jacksonville university. So I paid closer attention to him in that all star game. But yeah, that was a big moment. And that was that was an unbelievable great weekend for Charlotte. It really I've been thinking about this. A lot writing about the all star game. Now that it's getting much closer to reality. Everyone knows this funny. Nineteen ninety one. You have the all star game in Shirley. It's on the road at Charlotte Coliseum, which was abolished twelve years ago, the owner of the Hornets at that time, it's your Shannon. And of course, the star players on and also team was Michael Jordan, who of course, will be the owner of the Charlotte Hornets when it comes this time in twenty nine eight, and I'm pretty sure George Shinn won't be at this all star game. Yeah. The other thing fun fact for you is they were seventeenth today. The all star game. That's also, Michael Jordan. I say so you think there'll be a cake. I think they could probably around one up you think Maliki Maliki monk will want a piece of cake or do you think you'll just stay the keep his distance? So we didn't get slapped in the back of the head the quote today. You said that would be a big big brother referred to Michael Jordan. Yeah. I think it was all in in good humor to some extent. Charlotte's built bowl two weeks from tomorrow, noon, we have South Carolina and Virginia. And last year. They had a match up that really didn't garner much excitement at all. So they'll at some point sit down. For a new contract on all of this contracts, beginning twenty twenty are they talking about a third conference possibly. Yeah. A real web who runs the ball game. Here was hurting emphatic that they will add a third conference did not disclose which conference that will be. I I didn't realize summer to bowl games already have three conferences how to them. It's pity in national and then your old stomping grounds. Gabriel and Jacksonville. Yeah. The gator bowl, and they go ACC SEC big can, of course, the Bill is ACC SEC. So Mike the big ten jump into that one as well. The biggest thing it does for the game. Of course, as it gives you more choices of schools, which is very important to satisifation driver for ticket sales. So that is very likely to happen. The other piece of information that I found interesting is will web hedge the little bit in terms of weather fell for say on. They would like to keep them. Don't know if they'll be able to the you would want your third conference to have some regionality to it. I mean, you're the Pac twelve wouldn't make any excess Cincinnati necessarily a a third or fourth tier bowl team out of that conference or the big twelve or something like that. That's not the those fans aren't necessarily going to travel to Charlotte for that. So I don't know as I think you kind of wonder if the big ten's, not the not the natural fit. Yeah. I think it may be. I mean, remember the big ten now. A clues Maryland. It now includes hence say. According to records. So you have some schools that are more toward obviously, the east coast and the the mid Atlantic area in the ACC cover. So I think that would be a pretty good guess, but we'll see if they come up with something different. I think the biggest thing is they have to have as many choices as possible because it's so hard to get fans to go to home games, anywhere. If you're not talking about one of the college football playoff. Yeah. And then there's you know, the fact of the matter is there's too many bowl games. And I I don't mean that as a negative to the belt, but just quite frankly, there are in fact, they start tonight. And go through this weekend is kind of really when the bulls begin. And so for this next three and four and five and eight days, you've just got a whole lot of games that unless you're a fan or an alumna of that school. You don't care. John. You know, what the problem is? I'm I'm sure you've recognized this already is that while it's so hard to sell a glut of bowl games, the term for tickets in fans to watch on TV ESPN hurry because those football games, even though many of them are meaningless are still going to integrate more viewers than most anything else. Yeah. And that means Miller lite commercials. And that means coaching, and that's what that's all about. Hey, I have yourself. Great weekend. I'll talk to you. Next friday. Great take your job there. "Now, you're not stealing anything if you're laying thirteen at this point, the number has more. More than being accounted for the absence of Carson Wentz. And Nick foles. Hey, maybe he's got a little chip on his shoulder playing against the team that didn't give a fair shake when he was a member of the St Louis Rams a few years ago. I more I break this game down though. I look at Sean McVay and the way his teams it bounce back off a loss five and in those particular spot scoring almost thirty five points per game. I think the Rams get Todd Gurley more involved. He's had less than twenty touches and four out of the last five if you can run the football against Philadelphia. It opens up play action this, unfortunately, guys again, I really want. No part of if you're forced to try and get involved in the island time slot on Sunday night. I could see going over on the Rams team till thirty one and a half. I bowl season begins tomorrow, Utah state going through a coaching change North Texas getting seven live dog definitely live dog in one of our best bets for this weekend. North Texas and their biggest recruiting coup. This off season was retaining the services of head. Coach says the trial Graham Harrell also their offensive coordinator flirted with the opportunity to go to a power five program electing to stay in Denton, Texas. Meanwhile, Utah state coaching turmoil all the assistance take off their defensive coordinator, Frank mail. He's going to call the place, and it sounds like a program searching for an identity reading some of the players comment. I can't imagine Utah state's. He's a trip to Albuquerque is reward for was a great season in the mountain west can be Mason fine in North Texas, not only to cover the seven and a half. But where's the dabble on the money line up? Plus, I love Ed, plus two fifty one or the other best place. So we'll go there. Like, I said I had a call a little bit of audible we're going to go back to the well for the third time in a row with the forty Niners plus four against the Seahawks. Seattle a short week against the division rival a bit of a sandwich spot with a huge date against Kansas City looming in primetime next Sunday, the forty Niners night and day, home and road. So I will back them there. And you know, what we're going to go to the ball ranks. And it's a game. I probably could give out next Friday. But I want to jump on it a little bit early. So we'll go Wake Forest plus the four and a half against Memphis. I think there's a better football team better head coach catching points and really believe by the time we talk this time next week is the number could be below field goal. So I want folks to get under early sounds good. Todd happy wagering is always buddy. We appreciate the time. Always a pleasure guys. Enjoy the games this week next week. That's Todd firm and at Todd firm and on Twitter and his podcast the board podcast North Texas, the Niners this weekend wake a little early because he wants people to get in. He thinks that number will come down from the four and a half that it's currently at that'd be a big drop. If it goes all the way down to a field goal. So take the value now where you can get it. According to Todd, we'll do our place coming up in a few minutes. How about you know, we talked a little bit. During cross talk about the continued wildness and craziness within the Chicago Bulls organization. Another head scratcher had everybody buzzing last night. I almost thought it was fake news. When I first saw it somebody, and I didn't see Maliki Maliki Andrews. I think broke this story. And then it started making the rounds. And then appeared on somebody sent me a tweet like from another just hoops website that picked it up. And I thought fake news. What what is this? Now is it real? I'm like, oh, wait, it's Maliki story. So I got into it. And was researching it a little bit to see what had happened, but right before tip off last night in Mexico City. They're announcing that your parkers out of the rotation. I don't get it. I don't know. What they're I really don't. I don't even know if they're going to stand up and answer it I mean, boiling wouldn't answer it after the game. He sort of danced around it. I don't know if packs gar will come out and address why they don't I suppose they don't have to. It'd be nice to maybe explain it to the fans though, you gave Jabari Parker twenty million dollars for some odd reason. Can anybody figure out like how these moves lineup on like, what's? So you're asking me to figure out something. I can't figure out. I mean. Twenty million Ed gave him a shot bring them the Chicago guys. See if maybe he can rekindle some magic whatever you had when he was youngster in before. Rotation and that's fine. What did you say? The trade deadline ca. The ability to be able to trade moral. So they can trade them tomorrow. I wonder if they don't wanna get hurt. I wonder is there trade worked out. Now, he didn't play four minutes last night. But is there? What is the explanation of this as bad as Jabari can be? And he's one of the worst real plus minus, you know, players in the NBA as the worst. Now trae young I think is the worst. I four thirty three is the worst. He's pretty close. He's he's down in the bottom of the bear trae Young's dead last. He's very close your you're right guy. He's one of the ten worst. Clearly, but he's also one of the seven or eight best players on the bulls. Isn't he I mean, you can't? So you're asking me, why do I think this is happening? Was he one of the guys that was behind what what went wrong? He was maybe they're sending a message. But then I read d'arno Mayberry say that he's one of Jim boylans only allies that Boylan, and he actually respect one another. I can't figure any of it out. I thought would you just thought? Yes. When I read it last night. I'm thinking Jabari must be the guy that started the mini mutiny Jabbar. He's the guy that said we're not practicing after back to back. So I don't care how much we lost by. And that's what they're upset about. But then you read that he in boiling are actually pretty close in that they might be allies. Oh, my head hurts trying to process what they're doing gets along with everybody garden Friday were this that haven't talked for two years, you find that out after the you know after he leaves? So you find out more things as time goes on. So to me, it's crystal cleans cl-, crystal clear sign that Jabbari might have been behind. So that he was the guy who started the whole mining mutiny. Whether it was the other one Heyman Levin was here's another player on the Chicago Bulls. Are you taking now because you realize how bad you are in Jabari will help you win. So you don't play them. I guess that might be the most logical explanation. This idea that they want Hutchinson to play more. You didn't have to give Jabari twenty million. If you want Hutchinson to play you told them a month. You did have to give somebody twenty contract. I understand, but you had to give somebody money to get you above the minimum. Yeah. So somebody did have to receive twenty million dollars. You could have bought a bad deal have nobody disagrees with you. I'm telling you is this better than buying Omar Sheikh who came here and never did. A thing was in the. Yes. So is this better trying once your Bari to see if there was anything there is that a better effort than just buying a bad contract? And watching the guy never play. I dunno. I think. I think we all can have agreed. Waste of money. A couple of things one. He's ranked four thirty nine for plus minus. Sexton Collins, Sexton's the worst player, sexist work. Yeah. I would question who wanted Jabari here. Do they really think that bringing Jabari here would sell tickets? I wonder that. Med question. Because if you get a question, you're asking why. Yeah, that's a legitimate question to kogo kid bulls lead the league in attendance almost every year. Like, they need to keep something to keep them interested. Look at the bucket, boys. Kind of like the big fat kids that guys that mandatory. Yes. Yeah. Everything just to kind of keep your all look at Chicago guide, you Bari my it's hard. It's hard for me to believe that John Paxson gar Forman legitimately thought that he would be a good player. So this was above them. And they said signed somebody's got Chicago ties. Boy, I'm just saying those are smart or Paxton, smart basketball, mind, right? We've heard them talk about basketball on the he he seems like he understands if you've watched bar over the last couple of years, you know, exactly what he is also signed Dwayne Wade though, which didn't make much sense. I don't know what they're who's making these decision. No clue. My head hurts thinking about I'm telling you, do you. Remember, the whole place. Sorry for Jabari. Remember remember him up with him? Oh, yeah. Sorry for replays of the week or next JD? Bottom of the hour live at Halas on ESPN one thousand..

"Rope and one of the meeting rooms with a lot of our corporate partners from learfield. Enjoy and appreciate their corporate sport. And we do these programs every once in a while for this group has with tonight over a quieted Reverend, but you can make noise and hoot holler little bit of fifty one. For us to that coach MAG joins me coming off a another quality wind coach. I mean, you beating some really good teams this year. You got obviously the Michigan state win the road win Seton Hall, but you talk about teams like Vermont early this year Lipscomb last night. I mean mooring some crazy upset in their tournament. 'cause that's kind of a one big Lee. I I would be shocked if they are not near steadily tournament this year, I'll be shocked as well. Certainly they to get through the season without injuries. And you know, they they have it together group. They've added a lot of success not just this year. But you know, last year they bring back pretty much their entire roster. So there's a lot of experience there's a lot of confidence and a lot of good players on their team. And it was a great game last night. Very fortunate to be on the winning side. We talked about it before that you get to these mid major schools who are loaded with junior and senior players, and they just have something about them that they understand the game. They play the game together. And wherever they may be lacking in other areas, and I'm not sure frankly where that is with him. They just tough teams to play their their gritty. Composed smart teams. Well, I think that, you know, quite honestly, some of the the high major teams that we play. There's just a lot lot more roster turnover. And you don't see that with teams like ellipse come that. Again, maybe lips comes not going to be as good as they are this year every single year, but they manage to keep their roster a little bit older every year because the freshman that come in. You know last night. I don't think you were calling out many freshmen you're talking juniors and seniors and the freshman sort of stick with it. And they get their minutes here and there and those guys eventually become juniors and seniors, and so when you're able to stay old inexperienced in a system that you believe in with continuity that they've had as a coaching staff. It allows you to be a very experienced team and a team that plays together for your guys are certainly were some bumps along the way you had some good stretches nightclub back into the game. But in the end, what did you like about what your team did last night? Well, I thought our defense was was was on point, you know, early on. They heard us with a lot of over the top passes when we were fronting the post, you know, you watch it on film. We made the adjustment at halftime to to not front as much to two to three quarter. If you will try to keep it out of their as best we could but not at the expense of giving up and over the top lob when we watch tape overnight after the game. Time that we were fronting. Now, we weren't fronting well enough, you know, we didn't have our knees bent, we weren't just because you're in the position that you're supposed to be on top of the the post player doesn't mean that you shouldn't have some urgency about you. And we we got pushed up the lane too much. We were lag. Locked and we have to learn from that. But what I was most pleased about was our our resiliency our ability to defend to hold them to mid thirties in terms of their field goal percentage. Overall, not many teams are going to do that they came in average eighty six points a game. I think only one time during the season had they've been held under eighty points. So for us to hold him under seventy points allowed us to win the game all the offensive in. You got a tight situation late in the game. And then made some some key place. We did news tonight alive ball turnover. And we've got to we've got to bring those to a close here quickly. You know, it's one thing if you travel if you feel the ball out of bounds. But you know, when you either lose your dribble, and it becomes a one on the other way or two on one. But there were also some plays at our players did make down the stretch, including making our free throws being able to inbound the ball when they were in full court pressure to the right players guys that we wanted to get to the free throw line allowed us to secure clinched a game. They forced about seventeen turnovers a game. And that's that's what you had last night. But you you told me something interesting before the game, they do force a lot of turnovers, but it's not with the harassing all out pressure and connected. Was the word you use another watch them that was so true. It seemed like wherever you tried to go late have somebody getting away. Yeah. And I I give their their their defense a little bit more credit after playing them. They did pressure us a little bit more. They denied some passes that they hadn't really shown on tape. And we have to do a better job of meeting. Our pass out. Seventeen turnovers there about six or seven of them that I don't think we're we're forced by the defense. You know because of our casualness because of our inability to recognize you know, where defenders were on the floor. Just, you know, being brave in certain instances, you know, we just have to be better. We've talked about a lot today in practice with the basketball and limit our turnovers. You got a terrific game from lake Williams. And in this guy has really I think take it upon himself to to not be a big man of stains on the perimeter anymore. Yeah. It was awesome. You know, Maliki completely affected the game on the defensive end with his block shots with his ability to stay in the play, and, you know, make their post players shoot over the top of him. Just his mere presence. His ability to defend also on the perimeter. They ran a little flare screen at the end of the game. I think they were down three or four points and tried to flare and Matthews in the corner. And and. Kwan got obliterated by the screen and Maliki recognized it so well and the next thing, you know, Matthews can't even get the three point shot up in the corner. Other coach texted me this morning and said, hey, we ran a couple really good actions. The end of the game are best actions and give you guys credit. They recognized them in Maliki Maliki Williams was the guy that recognized him in both situations. So for him to recognize it as man was screening and trying to free up a perimeter player. You get me a lot of credit. You know, how many times did we talk about this Maliki shot while I think it always looks good? Just hadn't been going last night. He really hustles and rebounding defending and what you know two out of four threes. Really big time shots for us. And you know, he took really good once and within the flow of the offense. And you know, it's it's great to see him shoot it with so much confidence. When we have confidence in him. If we didn't we wouldn't wouldn't ask them to shoot those shots. And you know, he at times can be a fish out of water on the interior. But he's gonna continue just like you did from last year to this year with his defensive presence. He's going to continue to get better with his offense of presence around the rim. And we're going to help them with that we're going to keep growing him as a player a C an eagerness of him this season is he an ear learner. He is he's hard on himself. And that's the sign of of a good player. Sometimes as long as that know being hard on yourself doesn't result in sort of dropping your head. And you know, he comes to practice every single day with a great attitude. I think he's gotten markedly better the entire preseason here non conference play. And it starts with his effort in his attitude and practice, and that's been a real big. Positive for our team. And formerly and another guy who's praises you really singing last night. And not for the first time was Dwayne sudden just a warrior, isn't he? He is. That's the perfect word describe him. He goes about his business sometimes to quietly, I think he's coming here for the radio show tonight. And he's a guy that's really really fun to coach. And I don't wanna take him for granted. And just so high that I want to continue to try to get Dwayne better and know that he can get better. And he's got another year obviously after this year, and he is at times, a heart and soul of our team. And we put him on the other teams best perimeter player for the most part Darius Kwan wall. So if it's more of a two guard get that type of assignment, and he had a big time Simon last night as you saw the kid Matthews. You came here in. Late late March. Right. Correct. So now here we are. We're entity similar you've been not quite all the way around the cycle. But as you I started getting to know your team. Compared to where you are. Now. I mean, do you think, you know, these guys as well as you will ever know them, both personality wise and skill wise. Now, I think that you're always hopefully as players in his coaches were always growing as people. So why might know December twelfth or thirteenth or whatever the date is now I'd like to think that in January and February they're going to continue to to grow as people in his players, and we're going to help them along with it. But I do understand and feel like I know how a guy wants to be coach and how he needs to be coached, and how certain guys respond, and you know, we're still learning. We've only played what ten games. So there's a lot. There's a lot to still. You know happen here is that a big part of the coaching the psychology of players, and knowing who and how to push them, and who to sort of more gently nurture long what different guys can handle respond to. I think. So I think that's a big part of it. You know, different different kids are raised differently. In all summer. Raised with. Very strict parents others, aren't, you know, others arrays with one parent, and you know, and and so others are very well coached in highschool. There's aren't it's just learning the personalities, and what makes you know, people click and what's important to them. And then at the end of the day still making sure that your players understand that, you know, regardless of the tact and the approach and the bedside manner you have with each player, they're going to be held to a high standard, and you're not going to lower the standards simply because a player response to to coaching in a different way. Are you a guy who frequently brings players individually into your office to talk about things. Yes. Is that at at your request? There's or either either I'd like to think that, you know, we always have with our coaching staff and open door policy, and and want players to to know why you know, I think when when I played it was, you know, you just sort of did what you were told and kids don't grow up that that way. Now, you know, they want to know why they're doing something. So I think it's my job to explain it prior to and and to always be very very transparent try to be that way. When when I deal with our players and their families and the kids that we recruit talking with Chris Mack. We'll take a break. We'll come back here to yum center. We've got a corporate group with us. "Welcome back to the show that was one of the stars of last chance you on Netflix be Cirque third season. It features a relationship between independence, community college, head coach, Jason Brown, and quarterback Maliki Henry who is a five star recruit coming out of high school, went to Florida state left. Florida state ends up at ICC, and somehow we found the one highlight from the show where Jason Brown actually look saying and it saying positive things about a young person, but I'm honored to be joined by Maliki Maliki Henry and his dad marshal Henry. Thank you guys both for being here. I gotta be honest with you guys. I did not like Jason Brown at all in this documentary. I did not like the way he talked to anybody, assistant coaches players on the team. I thought he was a belligerent jerk, but I thought Maliki honest to goodness. I thought you were. Treated most unfairly by the documentary, you were a kid and I felt like the documentary vilified you and I thought Jason Brown did as Well. I, I want to know what was your relationship like with Jason Brown? I just wanna say thank you for having me on the show first and foremost, but my relationship with coach Brown, he's more or less like a bigger older brother to me. We had a great relationship off the field on the field and our relationship made it so we can talk to each other like that and we can communicate like that. And sometimes it wasn't always in the best way. And you know, that's what lash Angie showed. They wanted to show, you know how we communicate it on the field and then it didn't always seem the best. But at the end of the day off the field, we always used to chop it up. Go hang out in the locker room in the, you know, in the film room, go watch film together and we had the, we had that relationship where we can sit down and talk to each other each other without yelling, I guess. And so right now today, you and Jason Brown are still friends. You guys get along. Oh, yeah. Yes, definitely. I mean, I call them all the time we talk. You know, he tells me he loves me. You know, he's just he was just like another father figure to me, and it just happened to be that he was my coach and that you know, we just we had our, we had our disagreements and you know, but at the end of the day were family. So I watched all eight episodes probably took me two days. Have you seen all of the Netflix documentary last chance to third season and if you haven't seen it all it, have you seen? How do you think you came across in the documentary? No, sir. I haven't seen all the episodes, but the episodes I did see, I didn't think I was portrayed in, you know, portrayed in a great way or I didn't think I was show. I don't think they show the real side of me and I don't think they show the real side of, you know, coach Brown in our relationship together. Marsha, I wanna go to you. Have you seen the documentary? How do you think your son came across and do you think he was treated fairly? I. Have not seen the entire eight episodes, but I've, I've gotten snippets of of most of them. I think that I think the episode showed what it showed things happen, leeks said, and did things j. j. b. said and did things on the field. I think what's missing is the personal relationship that coach JVM Lee has they considered more of a father son? I considered more of a big brother little brother in, you know, Jason coach coach down wasn't acting. That's what we is like it love it, hate it. It's just who the guy is, and you know, I think there are times based on things that Maliki were was going through at the time. He showed his frustration on the field. I don't think and I haven't seen all the episodes, but I, I don't know of any episodes off the field that Maliki had. I don't think there were any. I would have known, they would've outta got that phone call. So I think. Was a. A good relationship that just wasn't protrayed. In its entirety. I think that's the feeling I had watching it like there's gotta be more to Maliki Henry than what I'm seeing here..
