"Can. Janice in Maldon, Janice. Next on nights, I go ahead, Janice. Hi, Dan. Um, I disagree with those callers who felt that I think that Joe Biden did what what he could I think that what he did in the spring led us to where we were in August, and he kept saying that he was tying to the agreements of President Trump made But part of that agreement was that if the Taliban went on the move, we would hit them hard. And they did try under trump several times and more hit from the air very hard, and that was the end of that. And in the spring they started on the move again, and I think they were testing the new administration. And as far as I know, we did nothing in an April and me they took over 41 provincial capitals one by one, and I think if he had responded when they first got on the move that they wouldn't have been nowhere near Kabul. When it was time to to bring our people home. We wouldn't detailing what we did, and and that's what he created a situation and that's what I disagree with. I would love to know frankly, what advice he had received from the military, and there was no question of that today. At the Pentagon news conference, which shocked me every every military person I've heard has said They never would have told them that that didn't make any sense to leave. Uh, as you call the other day. What did he think? But, um, of air Force being excited, he say it by Bagram off. Yeah. They? Everyone has said that the military never would have said that. I don't know what? I don't know what happened, but I just feel that that he created the situation. A lot of what he did in the spring led up to where we are All right. Appreciate. I just went quickly. I just wanted to say I you just mentioned they wounded and I was going to ask you that because I have heard no one talked about them, and I I just wanted to know how they were doing and they don't seem to talk. I don't I don't have an update and then I believe the number is 18 who have seriously wounded, but I don't have a breakdown on that and again. There's there's a lot of privacy issues there that that exist with, um soldiers who were wounded. Uh, you know, you're not going to get a lot of information again. It's the equivalent of HIPPA rules Number one, and they have their privacy. And you know, there are individuals who You might have lost limbs they might have. You know, they were not going to get that sort of information. Janice. I want to get to more instability. Okay, thanks. Much appreciate. Mike and Pennsylvania might want to get you and Vic in from Cape Cod. Go ahead, Mike. Yes. Hey, Dan. I love four uncles that served in Vietnam and I've talked to him and I didn't want to. Thank you. Roy. Upset him was, you know, never having that welcome home. And, uh, It looks like we're going to have the same situation for all the veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan. It was spread out over 20 years. We never had that moment of Like they had after World War two or whatever. And, uh I I just can't come up with any excuse. Why? Why, like you made the point about the, uh, little league team or something like that? Why? They couldn't just say Hey, take all the time you need. Yeah, You know these? These are our soldiers here. Well, I agree with you. It just seems to me to be a dumb thing for, um the democrats to do. It just gives the Republicans um some talking points and I just don't understand it at all. Mike, I really don't And what did they say? Um, You know, Um, I think is that victory has 1000 mothers and defeat is an orphan. And I think that World War two, The end of World War two. We were riding pretty high in the saddle at this point, the only ones who was celebrating what has happened in Afghanistan of the Taliban. Sadly, I think I could have been totally different. You know, I really think you know I really think we could have managed that a lot better. Um Man, I'll tell you it's the sad part is listening. My fellow Americans that I like to think I look at stuff analytically. But it reminds me like if the Ravens played the New England Patriots And every call that they made against my Ravens, I would say was a bad call, and I could never look at it and say Yeah, you know, we probably were holding on that play. Yeah, right. That's exactly. That's a good analogy. More cereal itself. Yeah. Hey, Mike, I want to get one more in here. Thank you so much. I want to hear from more people more different, more more viewpoints on this program. And maybe if we talk to one another will Will finally get together a little bit more. Appreciate it, Mike. Thanks. Let's go to Cape Cod. Vic on the Cape Vic. Next on nights. I got about a minute and a half. Vic, go right ahead. Okay. I noticed.

Markey fends off Kennedy in Massachusetts Senate primary that divided Democrats
"Joe Kennedy. The third loses Democratic Primary Challenge of Massachusetts Senator Edward Markey. By Steve Leblanc for the Associated Press in Boston. US, Senator Edward Markey of Massachusetts defeated. US Representative Joe Kennedy. The third in Tuesday's hard-fought Democratic primary harnessing support from progressive leaders to overcome a challenge from a younger rival. WHO's a member of America's most famous political family. It was the first time. A Kennedy has lost a race for Congress in Massachusetts Marquis. Appeal to voters in the deeply democratic state by positioning himself as aligned with the liberal wing of the party he teamed up with a leading Progressive New York representative Alexandria Cossio. Cortez on the green new deal climate change initiative, and at one point labeled Kennedy quote a progressive in name only that helped Marquis overcome the enduring power of the Kennedy name in Massachusetts. The thirty nine year old congressman sought to cast the seventy four year old marquis as someone out of touch after spending decades in Congress I in the House before moving to the Senate Kennedy said Tuesday night that the results aren't the ones he'd hoped for but pledged to work for Markey's reelection. The senator is a good man. You never heard me say, otherwise Kennedy told supporters at an outdoor rally. Kennedy also suggested that the movement of supporters the campaign pulled together would continue past the current election. We may have lost the final vote count tonight but we built a coalition that will endure. He said I would do this again with all of you in a heartbeat. In, the waning weeks of the campaign Kennedy leaned into his family's long political legacy in Massachusetts his pedigree includes former president John F. His own family story growing up in the working class city of Maldon with a father who drove a truck for the Hood Milk Company in one campaign video marquis also paraphrased a famous JFK quote saying we asked what we could do for our country we went out we did it with all due respect. It's time to start asking what your country can do for you. Marquis also found himself on the defensive at times during the campaign with Kennedy. Repeatedly trying to portray him as having a tin ear to Racial Equity Concerns Kennedy Faulted Marquis for his initial opposition to the effort to desegregate the Boston public schools beginning in the nineteen seventies marquis countered by noting that he changed his views on the contentious issue that tour at the fabric of the city he also said, he supported the creation in one thousand. Elizabeth. Warren Ed. Markey wasn't afraid. He offered his expertise and partnership. He wasn't scared of big policy and didn't use kid gloves. It's great to watch him overcome the odds and wind tonight Oh Cossio Cortez tweeted Tuesday night. The Corona virus ended the way both candidates could reach out to voters severely limiting more traditional means of electioneering like knocking on doors, shaking hands or. Big rallies instead, the campaigns were largely waged on line with virtual rallies, virtual endorsements, virtual fundraisers, and virtual roundtable events to discuss issues. Eventually, as Massachusetts began to suppress the virus and emerge from a near lockdown, the candidates began to take their campaigns on the road with appropriate social distancing rules and face masks in tow. The showdown drew criticism from some Democrats nationally who feared it would siphon time and money away from the primary goals of defeating President, Donald Trump and winning back control of the Senate. It also wasn't cheap with both Kennedy and Markey raising millions to pay for campaign staff television, and digital ads and old school campaign flyers. Marking now faces a general election contest where he's considered a strong favourite in a district that has historically elected Democrats hill face the winner of the Republican Primary Kevin O'Connor in November.

"So you broken network cable that was in the ground Oh yeah. Is that right? Is it a cat cat sixty think for the regular incidents Jason Hansen it'd be mad at me. Jason. Helped me in solace. Up a half ago, we took a cable he was at one of the classes and his don't be this leading that destroyed one from the house he went looked in house and he said Oh all you need is a four hundred foot burial cable. You know woman a little bit more checks on the outside or tougher thing. So we went from the House across the yard about four hundred feet into the new. Black Barn. And today the guys who are doing the driveway. Because, he came up and he said you can say I just broke a cable. He wasn't took a little black wire as thaw. which is it's not a big deal but I have two laser stuff in a few hours. So I have to splice so that I could I'm GonNa have just figure how to connect my computer directly to the laser. Laser unit. The full spectrum laser so I'll figure it all out. So I just have a spicing kit somewhere I could spice it and buried again it's just a you know it's one of those things where you think like you plan your day your mind I'll have to this that a have to find this the whole package splicing equipment, which I haven't seen since a year and a half a mile and a half six this. Thing. They're widening my drive land on the barn, the my local landscaping guys, and he's walking the dog at eight o'clock to call me over his wire carpets out anything important. Stick it out of the ground to five foot pieces. Ten, feet apart like That's my laser job in four hours. Anyway it's. It's not it could have been a lot worse. It's you know these things whenever these guys dig a funny thing was once got tremendous trench to the electric from the street. They had to put three-phase cable from the street all the way to the barn and Derek from Maldon came over one day and he's like looking in the hall and he goes you know you guys cut a phone line didn't don't Cha we did. When he point he pulled in the hall had been dug for like a month I didn't even notice city because that's what he does for a living. In look look and it was a cable like about as thick as my wrist with about twenty thousand wires in it. Ripped right. Open idol even looking at it from one angle ciders thought it was a water of black water hose which water was coming out of it gets its abandoned but if you look at it from the other direction is like. Ten thousand wires hanging out of the, but they will cut very cleanly. And he goes how long ago did you cut this? They broke it about ten days ago he does no one's come to bobby nope because then it must be abandoned. Because usually when these things break, they know right away. Oh yeah and. Because there was a it was his is the bucket. So one half of the why was ripped out of the wall and laying face into the mud so I just thought it was a hollow black water to. And the other one was sticking out from the angle. You couldn't feel the wires anyway. And then about ten feet away in the trees have grown into one of the trees is A. Porcelain. Placard from. Bell telephone. And it's grown into it's gotta be from like the fifties on in the forties because half engulfed in the tree in his bell telephone. So that must be and then when we dug up a French drain by the Barn. By the other by the machine shop, which is about four hundred feet away they found the same cable. So it runs diagonally through my property right under every single holy Dick So. It's abandoned but the little tiny Internet cable, which is about as thick as a pencils broken and I'm gonNA figure six after we get off. labile learn something new. Yeah, it's a pain in the butt though a strip does tiny little wires and well, I'm Gonna I'm GonNa. Try need twice I gotTA. Yeah I'M GONNA try to do a connector connector connecting connector. You know. A peace in the middle, and then just cover covered with like six pounds of lactate and put it back on the ground. Everyone's passionate. Everyone's punching this computers for now. It's not gonNA work. That's what people do. That's fun. Anyway other than that. What are you up to? What have I been up to whip building trailers didn't put a movie out last week as building trailers. We're building eight bullet Bourbon trailers that are going to go to Texas in the last ones I built over probably few weeks maybe four weeks four to five weeks considering the prototype. Now, this eight I started last Thursday now it's almost one week later and they're just about there about seventy five percents done. WHO's still out to do the doors for build bumpers but with a team here, the team that I got helped me out is incredible everything's moving along swiftly. And, we'll make tires. Sixteen fake tires at a plywood. In every single tired uses up just about one full sheet of plywood. And takes thirty minutes to cut because there's I didn't count this probably sixty pieces that I cut out like little arcs of circles we connect them together. To make related them together like a like A. Layer cake then six layers apply what makes up one tire. When fake tire everyone's like why don't you just buy tires because that means that I have to buy tires with Rennes connect the rims to something that's both if I keep it all would I could just nail screw everything. And if I do the cost analysis, it's probably the same amount of money to buy the plywood and take the time to put it together. But I don't have the the ability to just nail in screw I have to Baltin get involved all the Have to down the rabbit hole of using the trailer equipments connect tires as opposed to just using screws announced nothing has to turn so it doesn't matter.

What's in the U.S.-Mexico-Canada deal, the new NAFTA
"House. Democrats had another big announcement Tuesday. They're supporting the new trade deal between the US. Canada and Mexico representatives from the three nations nations signed an amended deal in Mexico City this afternoon replacing Nafta the North American Free Trade Agreement was one of president. Trump's key campaign pledges joining twenty now from Washington with more details is Wall Street Journal. Reporter will Maltin. We'll what finally brought Democrats around to this deal. Well they're unhappy with the deal. Feel that president trump at us. Trade Representative Bob lighthizer originally brought from Canada and Mexico. They wanted better enforceability tools or enforcement tools for for the labor rules in the end the trade deal essentially. They felt that Mexico couldn't necessarily be trusted to live up to the new labor rules in. US MCA which were basically very much improved from the US. Point of view on the sort of elementary labor rules in the original Nafta so they wanted to boost the enforcement ability of that and and There was some loopholes in enforcement and US MTA. They wanted to close those but it took a lot of of back and forth and it took a lot of choreography and timing to get that done they. Also that's a mother demands on drug prices and pharmaceutical provisions. So let's dive into some of the details about these provisions deal doesn't include pledges from Mexico to update its labor rules as you've mentioned and new rules for the auto industry tell us more about the major provisions. Well the main thing for the auto industry is breathing a sigh of relief because backing in both parties ladies for us MCA means that NAFTA will continue. Nafta's what allowed them to make cars. Using three countries parts move back and forth across the border etc auto. Oh companies are happy about that but they will have to deal with some tougher rules about where the cars come from where the steel comes from more that has to be North America. There's some rules on that. We haven't even seen the details of yet as well as you know. What percentage of the components of a vehicle of the content has to come from North America is moved up to about seventy eighty five percent versus? You know about sixty three percent in the original Nafta besides the auto industry there Obviously key agricultural provisions to safeguard that at duty free farm goods trade between especially between the US and Mexico Canada's opening up a bit too A little bit more American dairy products without facing their large large tariffs and the way that dairy market is protected up in Canada on drugs and Pharmaceuticals the Democrats were able to strip out a US MCA provision that would have defended the intellectual property for biologic drugs for a minimum of ten years. This is a big defeat for the large drugmakers but will benefit generic makers and perhaps keep drug prices just from being as high Internationally and finally there's some rules for technology to allow the free flow of data and some currency rules. That aren't so important for Mexico and Canada Canada but could be very valuable in future. Trade agreements with Asian countries are China that that have some issues in those areas. Getting Democrats to come aboard is is also a victory for president trump who had pledged to rewrite the North American Free Trade Agreement. What are you hearing from the administration today? A comment from vice president pence who's gone around the country lobbying for US NCAA and it's like. Oh It's about time the Democrats acquiesce to our deal. President trump has been fairly Hands off just sort of putting general pressure. You're on a Pelosi and calling the do nothing Democrats. He had a comment saying they believe. They were closed in the union support earlier today but of course he threatened to WHO Get rid of NAFTA altogether pull the US out of it. So that put a lot of pressure on folks to get started in the talks. He also put steel tariffs on candidate Mexico that he later moved and threatened. Car Tariffs so those those actions were Pressure to get things moving. In negotiating table. The Democrats were able to give trump victory but only by announcing get on the same day as the articles of impeachment. That is true. Important to Note Wall Street Journal reporter Will Maldon joining me from Washington. Thank you so much. Well thank you.
A Split Congress Could Complicate the New NAFTA
"A split. Congress will have several issues to wrangle with including US trade policy and Democrats taking the house majority could complicate those efforts joining us now from Washington with the details is Wall Street Journal reporter will Maldon will the US and Mexico agreed to a rewrite of the North American Free trade agreement earlier this year and Canada came aboard in September. But this is not a done deal and even more. So now that congress is split. That's right and Marie. It's never easy to get a trade agreement through congress. Anybody who tells you that it's easy is probably not seen some of the latest trade battles? So it's especially difficult, though, if a president from one party who negotiated the deal is trying to get it through chamber of congress headed by the other party in this case, the house of representatives, and the house speaker has a special ability to derail what would ordinarily be a pretty simple process where at least considering the agreement, and what are some of the major concerns of Democrats at this point. And what is the likelihood the label to push Republicans on meeting them in the middle? Well, the the interesting thing is that most democratic lawmakers are actually similar in trade policy to the Trump administration. They're a bit skeptical. They want better deals that that favor American workers rather than businesses. And so some of the elements in the new trade agreement were designed to appeal to people like many of the House Democrats at that took over. But the problem with that is House Democrats really want high labor standards in Mexico, especially and this agreement would be an improvement on that in comparison with your original NAFTA, but Democrats aren't satisfied with the enforceability of those new labor provisions. They wanted airtight where if Mexico violates a labor standards or Canada or anyone else that they'll be an enforceable mechanism to hold that country to account and we've also heard from unions on the new US Mexico Canada agreement with the AFL CIO saying it had. Downst- the deal would help working families. How much is that input likely to have an effect here? Well, we don't have the final card yet from the unions. We do have some initial reactions, and they do want more labor enforceability like we mentioned with the Democrats, and certainly the unions in the past have been the key to at least have explained the democratic votes. But some unions are happy the Teamsters got some good things. Other unions may be happy with the deal. But it's it's it's a little bit too early to say at this point and a lot of it depends on politics. You know, how much are the unions willing to work with this administration on something like NAFTA, they did work very closely in the negotiation stage. But whether they got enough to make them fully support the deal is one thing. However, it may be possible to push through the agreement. If unions don't get in the way, and don't actually go out and rally against it. What are we hearing from the president? And Trade Representative Robert lighthizer on the prospects of a deal now that congress is split. Well. No that'll be interesting to see because it remains to be seen. How exactly they'll structure their congressional push. Typically, the US trade Representative is more political figure Robert lighthizer is a long-term trade expert and trade lawyer, and he designed.
