Goff's passing, Williams' picks lead Rams past Seattle 23-16
"The rams defense came up big in a twenty three sixteen win over the Seahawks LA held the NFL's highest scoring team to its fewest point total of the season the rams made things tough on Russell Wilson forcing the Seattle quarterback into three turnovers and sacking him six times naturally head coach Sean McVay was delighted just our defense as a whole I mean you just can't say enough about what they've consistently done doing it against an offense that's arguably opposition at the highest level in the league right now very pleased with them on the offensive side Jared Goff threw for three hundred yards and Malcolm brown had two rushing touchdowns mark motors Inglewood California
The top waiver-wire pickups for Week 3 of fantasy football
"Tap waiver wire picked for me this week. Is going to be 40 Niners runningback Jerick. McKinnon makes sense. McKinnon is available currently in 73% of ESPN League, so widely available and with the most injury, coupled With Kevin Coleman also being gone for a couple of weeks. This seems like an opportunity for the big free agent signing for Kyle Shanahan Step up and have Ah productive week and at least for a couple of weeks. I think he's the at least for this week. I think he's definitely the best ad long term. Maybe not because most it will return. So if you're just looking for help for this week, maybe a couple of weeks. Jerick. McKinnon is your best bet this week on the planet Jets, other playing A. Who cares? The Giants there. Still, I stayed in New York and you look the Giants Steelers. The Bears have run the ball on the Giants, and they stayed in New York. They're playing the Giants, so I would think that that's they're going to try to ground and pound. This is saline advice is always from the update and grapple is positive, right? Like they think he's gonna play? Yes, Okay again, though, it's it's obviously Tuesday, so it's hard to say anything definitively. But my cannon is the top waiver wire pick up, especially If you're hurting at running back, and if you have sake one if he had most, sir, if you had McCaffrey, and now you're starting to Sergio. Look, Yorgos got to start Jamal Williams from crying out. I got Jamal waves in my story. You might be hitting your waiver wire to pick up Jack Kennedy on the can, For sure, he's gone in one of my All right. Who else? Hide Let me fire Rams running back. Donald Henderson was highly drafted. You have Malcolm Brown, who left last week's game with a finger injury, along with Who's the other Ocampa and left with a rib injury as well. So Darnell Henderson stepped in. I think I believe you had 80 total yards from scrimmage. So Donald Henderson is my second ad. He is available in 54% of leagues. 50 44. That's good Darnell game this week. Rams and Bill's about it to Owen omits to know that those of a good man, that's an exciting game. This's now I'll give you a couple of guys right here. One's more of a long term play. The other is going to be a better bet. Immediately, but probably not for the long term. Joshua Kelly, Los Angeles Chargers, he is it looks like he has stepped right into the Melvin Gordon roll from last season. Austin Heckler obviously, is the main running back that you want with the Chargers. Things were better. With Justin Herbert under center. It's undeniable. Tyrod Taylor comes back. I'm I'm not nearly as enthused, but I have a hard time believing Anthony Lynn is just going to give the ball back to Tyrod Taylor. If Justin Herbert continues to be productive, why

"Allusions in the past that Matt? Nagy A budget store magician loosens or illusions take you jason and then. It all finally clicked and I was able to match up a I finally figured out who Matt Nagy as and he is job from arrested development swinging. We've got the knife in his mouth and the cards a three thousand dollar suit on come. I mean, we're here we are again. We forget that. I mean the one thing about trubisky because I feel like we beat up on the bears constantly on show. Whether it's warranted or not. It does happen the thing about trubisky. That you you have seen. Elite Fantasy Games out of Mitch trubisky run. It's not like Josh, Rosen experience in the NFL he has. Often. Against the Detroit Lions who he always torches who he's starting the season against. Yeah. Well. This was not meant to lead toward someone starting Mitch Trubisky was not the Gorod DFS play, but trubisky has to run and they win games when he runs. So it didn't throw five touchdowns when you yes. I had this was several years ago now and I had this now infamous moment where I boldly declared and I would say rightfully declared that Mitch Trubisky is not a great quarterback and he will never ever be a franchise quarterback. And I was right. But then three days later he goes out and throws five touchdowns and murders of my soul. Malcolm Brown's GonNa Start Week one for the rams at least that's the expectation I don't think we'll see. Darrel Henderson out there on the field. So at this point Mike Malcolm Brown could be a sneaky week one start for fantasy team. Yeah. I completely agree there. There were some things that have happened. So if you your last positional player may be drafted a player, you can put on the IRA and you're searching around your waiver wire who should I be picking up? WHO SHOULD I be stashing Malcolm? Brown is definitely in the discussion he was he saw quite a few goal line carries even last year when when Todd, Gurley was there the situation in Jacksonville seems to have clarified at least a little bit where we didn't know I'm Chris, Thompson's locked in ice I still love him but we didn't know is it going to be? recold is it going to be Divine Zig Divino? Zibo going to be James Robinson. And it sounds like it's going to be James Robinson as of now. So if you have that last spot, he is one hundred percent player I think you should throw on the back of the bench and just see what opportunities happen week one it will not shock me in the slightest if. A week from today on the waiver show, we're saying the biggest pickup the week pickup of the week is James Robinson Malcolm Brandon Week one last year, two touchdowns are in our dynasty league that we who has James. Robinson. Do we do actually and we grabbed him right off the waiver wire? Well, here's an important thing for fantasy. You have to both move quickly. To to sign a player in react to news, but you also have to be willing to quickly take you know not take the l so to speak but move on like yeah like win this news happened about four net you had to go out and just grab rockwell arms everybody had to do it or an Chris Thompson in if you had a divine. And divine potentially. But things have become more clear. So you have to you can't be like, oh no, I just spent capital on Rye. Quell and I can't move like James Robinson's the guide own to be clear. What happened to Armstead was he is actually he's back on the cove list. He was on earlier in the in the off season then he had a leg injury. So the the team is not counting on him you add head coach Doug marrone he said it's GonNa. Be a while before Armstead is ready to be. They had him almost not at all through training camp win they win they decided to release Leonard Fournette Reich while Armstead was not active was currently injured and has missed most of training camp. He he wasn't the reason that they were able to move on from fornet. Yeah, and just the mighty himself wanted us to remind everybody if you hadn't join US win, the covert list was developed by the NFL and the NFL PA. Just because players been put on the covid list does not mean that they are positive for covid nineteen and have a prolonged time on the list oftentimes, it could be. We've seen false positives. It can also be if you were in the circle of somebody else that has covert and you are quarantining for a period of time because somebody in your vicinity like if you've seen hard knocks or you've seen some of the behind the scenes of NFL camps this year. Every. Camp has these watched style proximity alert things that they're wearing and if anybody. Tests positive in the organization. Everybody that was within six feet of that person gets a notification I. Think a lot of these cases are people that were within six feet of somebody that ends up testing positive part of staff, and then they're being you know being careful about it Now, rockwell might be a completely different story being back on there but I'm sure you. But just don't think that you're going to be without a player for weeks on end just because they go onto covid nineteen lists. Yeah. Agreed and then some other backup situations that have clarified. Let's say you're in Deep Leagues Dynasty Leagues What Have you the Panthers did release Reggie Bond Phone. Super Fon. Makes Mike. Davis the he looks like the clear backup right now to Christian McCaffrey and in Kansas City De'andre intesne was was starting to build some buzz the you know the previous connection to Patrick Mahomes, the pass catching ability they have released him Daryl Williams is. As of as of right now, Daryl Williams is the backup to Clyde. Edwards is another name that I would throw on that list of okay. You through someone onto your? IRA. You're picking someone up off of waivers. He he's inconsideration to me of someone just pick up and see what happens week one. Would you rather pick a Malcolm Brown and James Robinson ahead of him though Yes yes. Would James Robinson would be my top choice then Malcolm Brown and then Williams. Get ready for the Malcolm Brown ask week one for. Stairways Ashdown's and half the snaps in week one, we're all going. Oh Eight. I, want to Cli- could happen considering the they've already you know said, and this is to be expected that week one. It might not just be one hundred percent the Clyde Edwards Lehrer show dare Williams. Could come in and get a couple of rushing touchdowns but I we already know that's going to happen or could happen prepare for that to be a likely event and do not freak out you've drafted Clyde Edwards remember. Malcolm browns week one last year. Yes. The Andy certainly does yeah. Two touchdowns. Top twelve fantasy quarterback did you just say that? Yes, believable. and time in a row. Well, that's because I was looking I was like man I think I think he had a dominant week. Looking at the stuff. And that's it's hard to look and listen at the same time graded great inequalities. Listen to your Malcolm Brown take because I was too busy looking up Malcolm Brown developing my.

"You missed out a medieval times john. I was the night before bowling right and then you were the night after medieval times and what i hear you made the apps you're like who is it lauren hill that does concerts and shows up an hour and a half late and sings for ten thousand leaves that was you i was there on time then i was like kaiser soza and you're gone which isn't a bad move but they did get one very good picture of you in a what looks depite dr yeah medieval garb and they actually gave me a mace <hes> so venice mason amazed by the way big question today. Is this straight edge mace or or is this venice mace girl in the straight edge. The guy in the back is yelling. Venice mace which basically is is whether or not mason shows up stoned but i think you had to drive straight edge medicines straight edge mace someday. I'll do a show where orig- venice mace and everybody will invite be invited to see exactly how stupid i am actually make the show better yeah hey so. Are you gonna watch the ram game tomorrow night yeah. I'm gonna watch what are you watching for. The rams are are not gonna play any of the starter correct so what your but your big ram fan yep like. I said i watch most of the charger game last night. Actually the chargers looked okay. They lost but they played a lot of backups so the rams are gonna play nothing but back right. What are you watching four. What are you interested in well number. One is <hes> darryl henderson the running back out of memphis who's going to get <hes> reps tomorrow night and who i think because gonna figure into the offense this year in a little background on him. He averaged almost seven yards of touch right at memphis and he's the person i've heard him. Most compared to is darren sprains. He's a very fast third down back who can both run and catch yeah so i wanna see what he looks like because i think with the rams a ah given how todd girlies knee is sort of a question mark. I like malcolm brown. A lot and i want to see what darrell henderson's got in the secondary. I'm looking for taylor rap wrap. Who i think is gonna play tomorrow night. Taylor app is a safety who is gonna be eric. Wells backed up and it's going to see i think significant time this year so i wanna see taylor rap out of washington and then i wanna see actually i'm kind of curious. See blake bortles yeah. I wonder how much he's going to play but that is an upgrade jeered garbage upgrade. Your golf for a young guy has not missed much time once he was given that starting job. I don't think he's mr mr start yet and the amount of time sean manion played as goths backup or very limited but blake bortles is a series blake bortles a former top five picking the n._f._l. Ralph experience right and so i think by the way who's the third string quarterback brandon allen so he's gonna play tonight yeah tomorrow night but i'm expecting to see bortles last year. Manion played a lot it preseason and <music>. I'm expecting to see bortles so bortles henderson. Who is the texas am receiver lesser. Josh miranda reynolds he could play you know a lot of people think that josh josh reynolds is is going to be an impact either share. They've got really four receivers to go to they've got robber woods and obviously brandin cooks and cooper cup and josh reynolds is going to be a guy who figures into the offense.

"I I would assume to go there. That's a lot of money guy in CJ doesn't play special teams. Normally you have a running back skip. He's your third running back. He plays scenes CJ is not a special teams play a player. So with that being said. I think the Rams are feel they're in a good spot with what they have with Todd Gurley and with Malcolm Brown and today, it's it's not he's not a feature back. You're gonna use a to back sometimes maybe even three the patriots used three four and a game occasionally. So I think I think this is a good move for for the Rams, plus they got some other issues. They spend a lot of money, and you don't want to spend in say to three million dollars that seems like a lot of money does. But for running back NFL that is a lot of money, especially if you can go find one in free agency or get one in the drought. We're less than two and half three million dollars. C J Anderson save the ram season. He did one hundred percent. We had him on the show was. Do we? To your point. He's a really good guy. Good talker. He's he's good. He's he's smart and he's been around. And he knows how to play the game on and off the field, and they're going to miss that. Because he stepped in. I don't know what's wrong with Dodds knee. I like Todd a lot too. But I'm afraid it could be an ongoing Bryce you that he's gonna fight the rest of his career. And as you guys know running backs, as you know, just it's just hard to last that long every running back has arthritis in his everybody every running. Arthritis in his knees. So they signed him off the couch every got cut twice and he steps right in zone and goes for one sixty seven and then San Francisco one thirty seven and then the nightmare happened to my Dallas Cowboys who had just stifled attles number one rushing attack Jerry world in a playoff game. They just shut it down. Seattle went nowhere slowly the whole game. And then that happened to my team, and I take my safeties can really tackle. When they're falling on their back. Pancaked? Everyone knows he's pancake. Jeff east, right? Really trying to tackle a bowling bowl. Who wants to? When he gets running down four low to the ground a well to to forty to fifty. Yeah. And all of a sudden, it looked to me like Sean McVay kind of fell in love with him. I went to New Orleans needs to feature CJ and girlies over there riding the bike saying, I'm ready. That's why we knew something was wrong. Girly now air by the target with one hundred percent healthy new this yada, yada running backs or not sitting on a stationary back, especially come NFC championship game, especially Super Bowls. If you're one hundred percent, healthy K. So I'm still back to this age old dilemma on. How valuable is a running back. Can you just go get somebody off the couch? Look New England. I'm not saying Sony. Michelle carried them, but he had big games in the numbers. One twenty nine one thirteen in ninety four in the Super Bowl. That gave but birkhead was the closer. They would put him in late because the kid was a rookie Sony. Belching didn't want any fumbles down on the goal. I think is system. Yeah. Machel's not working in Dallas Cowboys offense. You don't say you need a bail. They need bail cow right in different. So it all depends on the type of system that you run it. The the patriots are two three back system. They have one guy to run the ball. When you're backed up. There have another guy to run the ball in the middle of field. Another run the ball at the goal line. Somebody to catch the ball out of the backfield. They have four or five different guys to do different things. The Cowboys and mostly power the good great, bats sie lay beyond bail. They do all of it. And that's what you need in that system. But yeah, you can find a skill look. And I'm a prime example of this. I played with Terrell Davis aboard years, and we've had to come along and everybody about the system system system and guys will getting thirteen fourteen hundred yards, but they wouldn't get in seventeen hundred taking us to the Super Bowl..

"Right. Right. And so I know he had been cut by two different teams beforehand. But what he brought to the Rams last year on top of the production that he gave them again. You can't put a money value on leadership and experience and Jared Goff has to have plaques and he has. To have the run game. Because that's what this offense is built off up. And so by them getting CJ Anderson played right into what they do. Well, right run the football play action off of that. And so can they find another big body running back to you know, run the football hard up the middle? Yeah. You can do that. Because the nature of the running back position has been watered down over time. But the other side what there will be losing is the leadership and experience, and I just don't know if you can replace that. What it tells me that the Rams are pretty comfortable with with Tigers injury. You know, you keep hearing that he might have the right as I that's what I keep you with the knee. Are you comfortable with that? I'm not comfortable with it. But they must be. But here's the thanksgiv- last month last month last month, the lions put an offer Malcolm Brown who was targeted is back on the Rams matched. He got hurt. So this is why they went out because they would not have gone out and gotten CJ now had he stayed healthy. Yeah. So what this tells me that they don't view CJ feature back. They feel like he can come, you know, come in and smell them. But if you just mashed offer you're paying tiger all this money you play good money to keep Malcolm Brown. It really didn't make sense. I mean, the lions probably gave 'em what two two and a half million dollars..

"Now, I was told. The Instagram photo. I didn't see it myself actually that didn't sound. Anyway, it's been better. I don't follow you though. So it's cute. No. So I mean, that's that's going to happen. This is kind of interesting because every year, we all talk about the saints have no money. They have Caplis shoes, and you know, the breezes cap number in like twenty thirty five is going to be like fifty million. And they kind of find the space for stuff they really need. And you know, this going to be eight million fully guaranteed in year one. It's just a one year. It's a lot of money patriots came in at the end and had a big time push big time like presentation to cook. But in the end, I mean, I think this is something that Sean Payton needed and was willing to pay for fifth moving four. The Los Angeles Rams are making moves in their backfield Todd Gurley little weird. What's going on with him right now? Maybe talk about that a little bit. But we'll talk about their depth chart, Malcolm Brown. He stays in LA. He according to Ian Rapoport. And then nounce by the team the Rams are matched. The Detroit Lions offer sheet for. For the restricted free agent running back. So it's a two year deal with three point three million base salary. So he sticks around and he ended last season on injured reserve, which paved the way for C, J Anderson, right? Who is not happy. And this is what J Anderson had to say on Twitter, he called the disrespect real Mark. And I heard you say that all respect is real phrase Mon just want a sixteen is all I ask. He wants sixteen games. Well, I think I mean, the Malcolm round think is interesting, and I love a good restricted free agent deal because they never happen. It's kind of fun. But this really to me the story really is about C J Anderson like basically saying goodbye to the Rams on Twitter. He said that's not what he meant. And he has since told me that he that is not what he meant. However, clearly he wanted to be on the Rams they talked public about they wanted him back. And then they paid a lot for a guy who is a backup who broke his club. They didn't want him. They didn't want C J Anderson. A lot of gratitude for what he did for. Maybe they thought lightning wouldn't strike twice. But it's interesting because ultimately they're not in the Super Bowl. He didn't see Jay. That's what I would agree with that. You also can point out that he didn't do much in the final two playoff games here. So he didn't end the season as hot as he was when he first over the job. But you would think he would there would have been some type of interest from the rats. But apparently, they didn't think the bigger ram story to me. I am stunned by the fact that and I get it less need like he's always doing the football thing watching film place. He's never heard of the television show, the office might honestly to believe that that is not true. His way tweeted that out CARA. Cara Henderson that. He's never he's a reputable source. This is bother wasn't shifted bid on been on our show marks radar. He's not eating. You seem like your question. The reporting Franklin. No, no, I believe her do, you know, what it is just finding out where the page because we get it. And we when we interview these coaches, they always seem to be a little disconnected with pop culture and things of that nature. But not knowing what the office is is a bridge too far. It's almost like it's either a put on just to show how hard you grinding or which I respect by the way, which is fine or it's a flex that. I can get behind right, or it's the truth of almost a cry for help because office is part of the landscape and by this. It's shocking. I agree with your analysis. There's nothing wrong with not being plugged into pop culture. But it's it's a little too far to say that you don't know what the offices. I have never watched the office except more than like a half an episode. But at least I know what it exactly I don't need you to be a complete est..

"But once you see this little hiccup. Can't ignore it. History. I'm more with us to finance girly at three I bartend and Zeke, I have McCaffrey at four, and we can talk about that later, but interesting Ron rare did say on the podium today as well that they wanna bring in another back again, also try to lighten McCaffrey's load. You know, one of the reasons he was he's a very talented player at north hundred degrade job and getting new space. But also just the usage for McCaffrey last year wasn't saying do you do you feel like if if Todd Gurley goes from let's say twenty two on average. I don't say that twenty two touches game to seventeen touches a game that those touches are going to come from the third down role as a pass catching back like do. You see any of that like where those touch is gonna come from. Is there a pass catching back on that team? Not at the moment. I mean, it depends on whether they bring back CJ Anderson. One of the things we talked about with less when you listen to the interview, and the other we're gonna have a podcast it's going to have the full audio of all these interviews that we did that myself defined peeled all dead with general managers, and coaches, and and doctors and position. And everyone, but should listen to the full interview. But I will say is that I wanna thing I brought up. His no one's talking about Malcolm Brown, and they like Malcolm Brown a lot. He was doing really well last year before he went injured, the whole reason they signed C J Anderson was because of Malcolm Brown, and so it'd be interesting to see whether C J Anderson comes back, and they confidence that Malcolm Brown should be ready to go. When the season starts speaking of health of running backs. Darius guys for the Redskins. Probably the most notable preseason injury in the NFL last year was prime to play a major role for them, of course, towards ACL's defying. This is not being your run of the mill recovery from an Darius guys had an infection post operative Lee at these things can happen. Twi sign that the waiver when you go into surgery talks about all the things that are possible outcomes and infection is one of them. I think originally people just assumed this happened at the Redskins facility. These things can happen anywhere. Let me be very clear. This is not a fault or a finger pointing issue but just for clarification of fact, dairies guys had surgery down in Pensacola by Dr James Andrews and was the follow up for the infection at cetera was subsequently taken care of down in Florida. And now he appears to be well past that and doing well, the good news is that even after something like this. You can make up time. So it doesn't necessarily mean that he is going to be way behind is certainly put the start of his rehab behind. It certainly made it more difficult for him to catch up. If you will some of the early things where it's really important to get your range motion your quad strength at cetera. But we won't really know until we get a little bit closer to training camp activities cetera. If he appears to be on track earlier today, I spoke with head coach Jay Gruden and as you can imagine as a Redskins fan and somebody who has dearest guys on every single one of his dynasty teams. That was a subject that came up. Whereas dairy skies in terms of his recovery talked to Darius. How's he feeling talk that there is a lot? And he's doing great. He's young. He's strong got a lot of energy. That's for sure. He's all he's firecracker. But he's he's going to be fine. He's strong posted some things on Instagram. I'm sure you follow. I do. Going to be fine and Chris tops, and we have buyer Marshall and hassle p Rhine. Everybody says my doghouse sees can have another opportunity to make some place. We have not lost sight of Somalia on our football team. He's a good running back and can provide a step. So we're we're in good shape is the expectation is swimming full health, though, that Darius would again, this is an assumption that Aidan doesn't come back in and others conversations..

"If they don't do anything crazy this year as far as like going to the finals of they like they end at the where the Eastern Conference finals, and they need need something help them get better. They'll have the flexibility to make some moves and address the debt if that's the issue. A maybe somebody doesn't show up in the playoffs that they that they relied on and now they feel like we gotta go get somebody even better. They'll have that opportunity to do that with a team that's already so good. And they not that far behind the rap. There's there's a crazy scenario where none of those players back next year self amalgam brogden like somebody offers Eric Bledsoe some money. He say, okay, I'm going with him Middleton of mine. I'm going with the money and then break Lopez I'm going with the money. There's a real scenario where Malcolm Brown. The only guy that's back from that team. So they got some decisions to make. But maybe they could be a decent thing where you can sign someone else to fill those roster spots. I don't know. It'd be a pro and con what's failure for this team this year. The second round if they can't get out if they don't get past sitting around us a failure to me, you think so. Because I mean right now, they just playing so it's so good basketball. We say Janas everybody agrees right now is the MVP when you have the MVP you the second seat. He should be. Yeah. You're right. I agree with that. Getting a also because I said like kind of what you said they have the team around you to when he can actually like curious team. And they also said a broadens shooting fifty percent from three to season, which is helping us. He really why I didn't even know it was that good. Wow. 'cause he's a he shoots him too. It's not like he's shooting won a game or something. That's crazy stat yet. Mark O'Brien is planning credible. That's probably why he got there. Ninety overall rating. Two k next. The bulls report rate in my bet the bulls it what you got deal. I gave them a D all of this function going on for this function fax. And I I wanted them to play much better and actually look competitive what's high expectations higher higher competitive? Just like in blown out. They they in Adel the game the game. They did win though. We're pretty good exciting. The record six. Forget about that. Better have. I gave him a D minus just because like the mail said I kind of had higher expectations, but I'm also aware of their situation as far as Andrews and everything my d minus comes from the fact that they did have so much dysfunction. Did you buy Parker situation is by far one of the most craziest things that I've seen and they haven't solved that yet. And if they make the right decision with that and figure out a way to make that work that can make their grade go back up because they've had a lot of injuries. They've had a lot of injuries. Even now exactly as out Bobby Portas is back is back out Denzel Valentine and coming back. So Lori was gone. So they have you know, they have some excuses or some reasons to why they didn't do as good as thought they could have been not that. I thought that they were going to be anything crazy. But yeah, I don't I didn't think there would be eight and twenty five with the Cavs at this point in the season. But you know, in a Bryce that they do have that convene who has played to his contract before he was before he was her even when he he settled down a little bit. He settled on you still have Lori marketing marketing and Wendy Carter, Chris Don is back, and you're going to have another nice draft pick. So that's a bright spot..

"Forty four win for you. So key back in the studio after that keen of there. Before you said you had some insight. You had said some insight into the compartmentalization and making sure that you have your full attention on something that probably doesn't need your full attention. Well, it you know, you game plan you gain plan for the team that you plan. Right. But there's pre scouting that goes on for the team's looking ahead moving forward. There's a department that does Vance scouting in that department advance scouting department. Vance Scott or scouting apartment, whichever one. You. Everybody says something different. And when they're doing this. They're giving information to the coaches the coaches have already started to work on Chicago Bears. Right. They've already started even though they've already put everything in cane for the most part game planned in every few hours. They take a break and they start working on the next game in. So when they get to the game, and you say how come girly, you you you you have him on a pitch count. You don't give him so many balls in the first quarter because you have to win that game. When you got the game in the can now you start mentally thinking about the next game. Yeah. When that game become I just don't know how you think about the next game as your before the twenty eight point lead because I'm doing I can use Malcolm Brown here who has not Todd Gurley. But it's good enough to beat the lion. Now, it's not true one because it's not true. He's not good enough to beat the lions because again, the lions put their pants leg on just like you one at a time one. Mean my put him to day. But you can't think that what you're gonna get fight. You know, clearly, there's clearly reason that there's the methodology that there is because everybody does it the same way everybody. Everybody is thinking about what's right in front. I just haven't you heard you play play sports around sports haven't you heard looking ahead. Of course. Oh, they got caught looking horse. They're playing Appalachia state this week because they got a high state next week. My got caught looking ahead. My point is not that that isn't true because it is we've seen examples of it over and over again, my point is just that coaches and players and coaches, especially but players to their their ability not to do it because I just think human nature is automatically. I'm thinking about steps to three while I'm doing steps I got one time in the NFL because they're finite number of games. And you can't afford to slip up on any of them. Really? That is it's we gotta win every single one is valuable in the NBA. You see it all the time. Where guys will be sit. You know, they'll sit Kevin Durant down because I on world we're playing Sacramento and is is March, and we should be at a beat this team. Eight plant who doesn't like eight plant in the morning. That's a smaller plant. But it has. Why is it in here because I'm still on the air guys wanna know, it's raining outside. They started doing. Own a toy eggplant. Question with another question. That's like it's thought Thought it'd be. it'd be fun for the show. So it's almost like Travis when when you are at home, and you put it next to me why trying to look ahead to something. And you saying we're going to get there. It's thanksgiving Christmas is a month away. Stop bothering me..

"That's the thing. You know, if you kind of run down the list of decisions that you have Todd Gurley who can clearly move. It's not like he was to the point where he couldn't move a run. But if you put Malcolm Brown out there, you know, you're not gonna use Malcolm Brown the same way you're gonna use Todd Gurley. And if you're Andy Reid and the chiefs and the defense and get ready to just seeing thirty in the backfield you have to account for them. It's going to open up things for Robert woods and Brandin cooks and everybody else. So I understand the decision to not go to him because he's not right? But yet still put him on the field because of what it gives the opportunity to your other players where Malcolm Brown with all due respect, his pretty good. When he comes in. There doesn't give you the same advantage. And again, it just gives you a heads up. Because if you're Andy Reid you look over like Tigers not on the field the most supports series. They're not handing the ball off. And you right now you have to care for him. Whether you know, he's healthy or not I don't remember any play action. Do you the first one the first? Play. There was a little play action where they through words, and he got down the second play was that screen that got knocked down. That was a that was action play to that was a little boot play action boot that didn't work. And then the last one was that. 'cause I reverse that they run to brand cooks that went nowhere nowhere. Yeah. It wasn't wasn't a great great city. The most prolific offense in the NFL. However, there is a little bit of a reassurance though, because we were talking about yesterday that Sean McVay is halfway through his second years ahead coach. And because he so good at it. Because he showed up and was good at it from the jump because he took a team that we didn't know what it was you go back to the beginning of last season. I think there was the expectation that this team went six or seven games. This is a major one eleven right. And so we just assumed that he's gonna say Bill Belichick because that nobody is. But that he's a fully formed polished head coach there still some bumps and bruises along the way inexperienced the way that the manage the clock. I think with their timeouts. Is still weird. I think he's he's mentioned that before the way that he uses time outs is not something he loved in the first year. But the there was a real reason for Todd Gurley not touching the balls. Thankful so thankful because if you wondered if it was the original thought, which he has someone of a brain freeze, right and a high presence situation. Now, go into the playoffs gore. Yunosuke bone. It's like as a close game third quarter now. Instead, you're like, oh, he's good in every scenario. He's he's got complete control of emotions. He's he's experienced is not a case of oh, he's still wide Ida. He didn't he lost track of something? You know, he was very much in tune though, it was a strange not to have any timeouts on that game when he drive, but yeah, I think the criticism changes from why didn't girly touch it to. Why did you throw it twice a three place? That's that. Even if you're gonna do it. Maybe you just run that little Brandin cooks jet sweep reverse or run into robber woods or or do something. And I'm sure the answer is because this is how we run clock. We just didn't work. It was fascinating. It was in the game was on NFL network again last night, they replayed it whole thing. I didn't watch thing. But I I watched just enough of it to kinda gets..

"So I kinda have brought it up to you. But your point they'll bring someone out of retirement before they give someone the actual full workhorse lead role out there in Philly. That's just their philosophy. That's how they done things. And that's all the continue to do things. Also, whatever get waivers. I'm in a couple of leagues where like I don't really want pick up any of these guys. And you know, I don't wanna do nothing. So I'm also a proponent of. Picking up a we're not big into handcuffs, obviously as a general rule, but for one or two weeks, if if you have somebody you can draw like Nelson Aguilar who has no upside sitting on your bench. I'm fine picking up somebody like Malcolm Brown, Malcolm Brown looks good. Every time. He's in the game for the Rams, obviously offense is a job or not. And if any happens at Todd Gurley Malcolm Brown, somebody that could completely just change the landscape of your fantasy. We completely changed the dynamic of your team and could be the difference in you wing championship or not. So he's that big of a deal. Same thing with the Jalen Samuels, Pittsburgh, like I am fine grabbing Alkan Brown in stashing him for a couple of weeks as long as you can hold him. Obviously, he becomes the first person you drop if you need to pick up like a Gus Edwards to play for you right away. But I'm fine taking Malcolm Brown, or, you know, another backup like Jalen Samuels. Like, we mentioned and. And throwing him on the bench. Yeah. Man, especially at this time of the year. We don't it's different when you enter the season when you're know you're going to be running into a lot of injuries and then buys on top of it at this point. You should understand where you are in terms of your standings, what type of team you have. Who's your starters weaken week out? You know, it's it's nice to have a couple of backups in case. But there's certain people that probably on your bench at might take two three injuries. To actually get in starting role. So maybe, you know, supplement one of those guys for a high upside injury play into someone that you aren't going to bring up, but it's, you know, sometimes good to mention the people that we should remind people to maybe stay away from with kerryon Johnson going down just reading a report coming coming out. You know, map Tricia, very confident in Zack zender, right? Like they're looking to replace carry on Johnson's twelve to eighteen touches and the game. We haven't talked about this. But I'm guessing on the same page where this is someone that we don't wanna get involved in here. This is just a just a minimal multi game absence from Karen Johnson. And they still have all the other running back still there. This has all the makings of being an absolute disastrous game for the Detroit Lions. I mean, Matt Stafford has been under pressure on sacked a ton the last few games, and they don't have Marvin Jones probably gonna be out. They trade away golden Tate. No, carry-on Johnson is only real. Viable threat to throw to is Kenny golladay, and I'm staying away from all the running backs gear blunt..

"Do you think it was just a matter of like they didn't use them that much or you think there's a little bit of fatigue felt like they fully we saw more Malcolm Brown in this game that we're used to talking about that a little bit that it just he wasn't involved. And when he was he didn't look Dodd girly ask. And if he was tired, wouldn't you be like, of course, he's tired and. And they're and they're by coming so late like at least put it this way. The by for this team could not come in a better time to your question. I have no official word on going on with him. I. You know? I don't know if it's just what we saw are just maybe because he wasn't involved early never picked up. I don't know. But I I would be willing to wager that after they have this nice by in week twelve you're going to see a very sharp looking at allows us field. Those just going to say as we sort of pivot to the waiver wire haired allows a little bit. Yeah. Okay. I've got some news first. Okay. We'll get to that in a second. But I'll I'll merely just say this, and then we'll get to the we're going to get to the waiver wire later coming up in the show. But I think that this is a time with teams on a by here in week twelve is you had to waiver wire tonight. I just think it's worth noting. If you haven't already like handcuff handcuff. Yeah. Malcolm Brown Spencer ware. Chase edmunds. Like, there's a handful of guys that I rod Smith that. I think are worth raw string has now passed the bison we're heading towards the playoffs. I'm actually going to use. I've already Verdy because we're trying to get ahead for the holiday already put together the top of the week thirteen waiver wire calm. The basically explains like biser. And you may not have that luxury. If you have a couple of chiefs Aram just we can need to fill in for. But I'm gonna do the like I'll take the top ten or eight running backs and fantasy this year and identify like if I had to choose a player behind them. Here is my selection because some will be obvious and some will be less obvious. But still it's good information. Have a completely agree with you on that speaking of running backs that you might need to handcuff right now, the answer is you need one. In Detroit's to find you the lions play in forty eight and a half hours nine hours to be specific actually carry on Johnson may not be available. I don't think he will be. But of course, you know, lions could tell you right now that he's ruled out he did not practice yesterday, Adam Schefter reporting that based on the I hadn't has left knee. We saw him leave golden locker room last week's game that he will not need surgery. But it's something that they're considering we tweak. So when you a week to week, and you know, you have a game in a short week for days later, you're not expecting kerryon Johnson. So you got consider you at the Detroit Lions, but L Marvin Jones without kerryon Johnson. There's going be some substitute. In there. It's going to we had this conversation yesterday. And like I put the Riddick on the waiver wire is my favorite lions running back out of the week legare blunt made it as well, I was like I'm putting him on your own because I feel like I have to not because I really want to get..

"That's especially true with the with the defensive line they get these these big guys you know it's it's malcolm brown is one of them and we'll get to malcolm brown to second because there's interesting conundrum with him but the patriots of basically said we're stopping the run seemingly said we're stopping the run i in a league where no one really cares about the run as much anymore because if you stop the run then you become you get into passing situations and that's the only time that you can truly fully dictate the game up front you become the aggressor on third down along defensively you line up and you determine the matchups think about those diamond fronts we've talked about then everybody's doing now at the texans stewart's whitney mercilus standing directly over the center and then there's a guy a two guys on each side of them which makes five linemen five front players against five blockers and you get to choose who has to block who by who you lineup up where on defense you don't get into that stuff unless it's an obvious passing situation so the teams at believe in stopping the run they do that because they're logic is if we can do that seven or eight times a game that's seven or more eight passing situations we create because when you get to second down in eight or more eighty percent of the time the opposing team throws the ball second and longest basically it's almost an obvious passageway shin anymore i mean we're starting to see defenses gradually they're playing to that a little bit more so that's the logic behind that's the thinking is just we want to create the obvious passing situations and then we can win with our scheme from there we can design our blitzes we can give you different disguises zone rotations we do we become the aggressor defensively in those scenarios well let's kind of transitions into what i wanted to talk talk about next there's so much talent at this position in the nfl i think this is you could go through and probably peg like fifteen to twenty guys who are legitimate all pro contenders that position because of that because it so over saturated it seems like these guys are naturally cheaper so in new england you have a guy like malcolm brown they didn't exercise fifth round option which which i think was pretty a eye opening to a lot of us maybe there's something going on behind the scenes but maybe the patriots are just looking at it and saying we can get someone good and cheap to plug up there and on top of that you got you know next year you're going to have some absolute stars coming out at the position in the in the draft whether it be at oliver down in houston rashawn gerry michigan the alabama guy who's name is escaping me at the mo rake want davis down at the alabama so you got a bunch of guys who could go top ten to further solidify this as as the deepest position in the in the league but and then on top of that poor jonathan hankins once again can't get side where we're taking up a collection for him but it's just it's so deep is a team like the patriots kind of saying yeah we'll put our strength there well not only put our strength there but we don't even have to spend that much cap space in order to build our strength there i would love to have an honest conversation about that with bill bell checks i bet there's an answer for it because if everything you're just saying 'cause but what's also interesting is new england if you look at their history they don't play they don't pay their eggs players very much either they'll chandler jones and those guys walk away because those edge guys are very expensive and so they tend in new england to concentrate their investments inside or on guys that gobble up blockers let's just think of it this way because the guy they signed this year adrian clayborn who i've always liked within the context of a certain scheme clayborn to me even though i know he went off against dallas backup tackles and had six sacks that game the real claiborne together had to sex and all the other games and he's a good run defender is not a pass rusher necessarily what he does well as what you teach and this kind of gets into what people it's not to gap inc people think of two gap ing is give me a big body just stand there and phil both gaps that's not how i go there's nobody.
