"Like you said, you can't give them the money in advance. Know, you know, they paid them to come to the league and they like great. All right off. There isn't a lot of motivation there. And I think it shows with every single one of these guys going to happen to other sports too, like basketball and football. You guys get paid signing bonuses. They just absolutely and Habits song. Dallas is dealing with it all the time. The Cowboys like they signed Demarcus Lawrence. He was his game, Recker line background game like seventy million dollars. He has sucked ever since birth. Is it your Elliott incredible top, top 3 running back every season. They give a hundred million dollars sucked. The very next season. It is, I think there is part of it. Like, when they get the big things they let off the gas. They took out the gas and and they, they it becomes more about not getting hurt and then it becomes about like wanting to really dominate. So they're going to have Luke rockhold fight, Sean Strickland. They're going back and forth. They don't like each other, Luke rockhold thinks he's like this guy is not in his League, Luke rockhold. That's only time. He loses. He kind of overlooks. His opponents. I mean this being caught him big time and that second fight and it also against Ian makovich, but you know Strickland's, a hungry guy, who's not rich. He's on the come-up. He's a monster. You look great against Uriah Hall rockhold. It's got a big Challenge and he said, he's me. He's psycho. He's nasty. That being said, lot, Luke rockhold. Yeah. I know people have forgotten about them. But he's only lost the best guys. I mean, he lost to the Champs and he's beat look at the guys. He's beaten. Yeah, he's a monster. He's got a big chip on her shoulder right now, man, because he him and Dana White are going out of it. And he thinks the UFC is not I don't know. He's saying that basically created this culture of people hating certain Fighters and this and that, and yep. It would be DeWitt. He hasn't wanted a while but I'm looking bored of this fight. I am I and I think Luke and pull it off. I know we can pull it off because I don't people like they say his chin is gone, but I'm not really any businessman catches you cleaning, has anybody they're getting knocked out and the same goes for Jamba kovich. I mean, the guy looked located afterwards, Johnny, Hendricks, by the way is now a full-time police officer in Texas. Well, you know, he was listening, the benefits, unlimited Dunkin Donuts. I mean, you can see where he would attract to the job, which is crazy to imagine like, get arrested. It's by Johnny Hendricks. I mean, the guy was a world champion, like I think, two or three times national champions is dangerous, cuz some dealers are going to be like, here's my shot at the title. Well, I'm a thing is if you're everything is chasing, you just, you know, just keep running cuz eventually he'll gas example..

"My Francis land. And this is the show for curious cooks and eaters. Okay, so naturally, everyone thinks of Thanksgiving is Turkey Day. Look, I mean, the day is really much more about sweetness and starch than anything else, right? I mean, half the sides of sweet sweet potatoes that were degli cranberry Jell o that, For some reason we keep calling sauce. What really matters is what pines people brought this here. Imagine having Thanksgiving in the home of Miro was Makovich. He is the pastry chef of the timeless New York restaurant, Gramercy Tavern, and his wife, Shilpa is also a pastry chef. He's from Serbia. She's from India, and I just Not even imagine what glories grace their table, So we caught up with Miro to find out. Hey, Nero. Great to have you in. Hey, thank you. Thank you for having me. That's a pleasure. So you came to the United States from Serbia? Yes. For your last year of high school and went to Indiana. What was it like? When you got there? Green town in Indiana will. It was not what I expected. I'll be honest with you. I mean, I come from the small farming community of back home in Serbia. So And my whole life. I was watching movies and dreaming about coming to Big city, New York or Chicago. So that's what I was expecting. That's not quite straight down Indiana. I did land to Chicago. So I saw the big buildings and was very excited, You know, 17 years old, but As we left Chicago and you know, and Gary, Indiana and started driving and There was nothing but corn around me and so beans and then we arrived in a small country home. There was a good farm behind it. It was just like back home. That was quite disappointed with the other side of the world. Exactly, But that's not what I wanted. You know, one of the big lights of New York City, but he was actually good. It was a good position, right if I was 17 from small Country town in Serbia coming to New York City. I don't think so. That would have made it and I would have stayed. So it was a nice position to come to Green town and then move on. And so lucky that you came to the student you came. I think in the summer before your A year that you're going to spend Yes, there. So by the time Thanksgiving rolled around it was, you know, about half a year. Did you feel settled in? Do you remember that first Thanksgiving, was it? Oh, absolutely. I mean, it was little as in half a year. That was my first holy day. You know, I just came right after the fourth of July. So it was my first American holiday that I have experienced on definitely have settled in a little bit. Um, And it was fun to see. Um One holiday that you never really hear about it much in Serbia, right? We don't really learn about it in history. Plus, not that many movies talk about things getting interested, right. So interesting. Yeah, but it was Something new, but yet familiar because things giving his one Hollywood it's all about food and family on all of our holidays in Serbia are about food and family. So you know it was a new thing for me to learn about the pies and turkey and, you know, watching who's playing cowboys and on TV, but but it was yet very familiar to me. And but then I was a little bit of home sick. It was just like a nice Nice reminder of home and gave me some positive feelings and emotions to to continue on interest are away from family Are there like harvest celebrations in Serbia? That Kind of equivalent. I'm obviously with different Yeah, well stuff, but Ah, Harvest celebration for us is working celebrations. Right? This is when we you know, harvest, of course, but also it's the time when you know there will be slaughter of animals that each family raises. So that was kind of celebration. You will All kids have to come together. You know, our parents were very particular about Children, not just seeing how animals were born and raised, but also how they slaughtered and processed. So that is, you know, there's not like a particular day like it is here. But it's more like each family had their own day or two within full time when he would come together just to get ready for winter. No, I'm just saying And are you still in touch with your host family? Of course..

"Do you mean like Bible studies that air more orthodox than those that they might find? Generally in a liberal church? What do you in the American setting? How does it manifest? Well in the Benedict option. My previous book, I did say that Yes, we have to start doing home schooling. We have to start doing these intense groups and our churches to prepare for the life in the post Christian world. Here and lived not by laws. I am amore deep, more deeply concerned with how things are accelerating. I think we still have to do those things you but I'm talking about something more radical. I dedicate the book to a priest, A Catholic priest named Thomas off. Makovich, who went to Slovakia escaped. The Nazis went to Slovakia and told the people there. Listen, The good news says the Germans are going to lose this war. This was 1943. But the bad news is the Communists are coming to rule this country and they're going to come after the church. We have to be ready. The bishops of Slovakia told Kulikov Itch. You're alarmist. Don't things aren't so bad. He didn't believe them because he understood communism. So he put together small prayer groups that not only came for intense prayer and scripture study and study of economics, things like that. I also studied the arts of resistance, and they spread this network all over Slovakia. When the Ark Curtain fell. Father, Kala Kovach is network was the only thing left After the Communist came for the priest. It became the backbone for the underground church for 40 years we have there are there are many examples of courage, Father Jersey of whom I knew a little bit other fathers. I am thinking to your quotation of nt right of CS Lewis the world in enemy occupied territory on this show A few years ago, Richard Dawkins mocked me for believing that Jesus is really that he rose from the dead. He mocked me on. You really believe he changed water into wine? It was really that was years ago. Now media I'm just curious if anyone will let you onto television. To say explicitly. I'm Orthodox. I believe Jesus Rose from the dead. I believe he's alive. I believe Christians have the truth. The way the light does Anyone let you come on television and say that anymore? I don't know about that. But did you know that? Did you see? Last week? Dawkins himself got canceled by Trinity College Dublin because the others were afraid. Yeah, he was canceled himself because the workers were afraid he might have been Muslims and women. So it's come for him. That's this pseudo religion that we're fighting of woke. Nous has actually devoured Richard Dawkins now and that's how I think we need to see this. This is not just a political movement. It is a rival religion. It is a fake political religion on millennial cult for people, young people, especially who have no religion, but who need tohave. Ah, deeps need to have something to do with their guilt. I need to have a sense of meaning and purpose in life, and they're obsessed with the idea of purity. And that means punishing people like you and me by sending us if we're lucky, just sending us to the margins. And if we're unlucky, something much worse. They askyou one political question, Rod. You're a very often fierce critic of the president. I have defended him because of his judges because of Amy Cockney Barrett because of the 53 appeals court judges that will defend the free exercise of faith for 30 years to give us the opportunity. You talk about it live not by lies. Does that ever enter into your calculations when you consider the president? Oh, absolutely. And if I vote for, um on, I'm likely to do that It will be 100% because of the judges, Federal judiciary. I believe you. It's going to be the last line of defense. People like you and me social and religious conservatives. We can look at the younger generation, the millennials and Gen. Z. They're far to the left far less tolerant of freedom of speech and freedom of religion. I have to believe that you are our only hope is in the Lord ultimately, But the Lord is giving us a judiciary that I think and I pray and I hope does respect the First Amendment and that's going to be the thing and the political aspect of life in America. That protects our institutions and individuals. When the woke mobs come for us, and so I'm grateful to trump for that. Plus, we know that when Baden gets and they're just going to accelerate the woke nous and write it into law, with equality, acting more and more and the persecution is going to start sooner. Right. I want to compliment you again on live not by lies. And and I wanna encourage people to do two things when pray for Rodriguez because you're going to catch a heap of Angel's coming off a building and then buy and send the book to every believer, you know, and every non believers that they least know that we're out here. We really do believe this stuff and Rodrick. Congratulations, Liv, not by lies and best seller. And it's deserved me. Well, my friend. Thank you. He's got lots of courage. I mean, this book is not. It's not going to earn him the praise of liberal elites or even of Liberal Christians. It just won't Really factor dot com. I want to remind you I took it in the first hour. Remind you two more times during the course of the day that you need to start your morning with it. They sponsor the studio and they do so because I love their product. They felt like they had a lot less control in the second category. so that kind of stuff bothers me the facebook thing is almost its own topic and can be argued in lots of ways and I think probably should be but am annoyed they're doing it too. But some of these technical limitations or these things that seem like, maybe they're just trying to save money to get that low price point. Those are concerning and I don't see those another reviews yet..

"It's the Dana show today at noon right here on five seventy KLIF. Eight forty one. Now doesn't sound like a lot of people but forty one kids and young adults. Now have the measles forty-one known cases of the measles. Yeah. It doesn't sound a lot. But it's very dangerous in Washington. Port Portland, Oregon. You can just be in a room with someone and get it. It's so contagious. Yeah. Excuse me. The public health department or Clark county, Washington and acid at least twenty three people were sick last week. This is terribly contagious. Measles. Is you you just have to be in the same room with somebody just said that oh you did say that. Yes. Well. Underscoring that. If you just happen to be near a person, who's got the measles. You're both in the same place. You could get it. You had the measles as a kid. I did it was a long time ago. I really don't remember anything about it except that. Crummy crummy you want to scratch, but you're not allowed to scratch and that kind of thing. But the problem is so many people are not getting vaccinated, not vaccinating their kids, and this this particular, Washington state and Portland the Pacific northwest in particular have as a large number of people who are not vaccinating their kids. I think something like thirty percent. And they've they've said that in order to prevent an epidemic of any particular disease. You'd have to have less than ten percent of people who are not getting vaccinated are there are a lot of anti vaccine here in North Texas. In fact, plano, specifically mentioned for their high exemption writes in an article that was in the Dallas Morning News. Yeah. It was a national survey and Austin and Houston or on the list as well. Allen county, for example, at four hundred seventy eight. Such exemptions in two thousand fifteen in two thousand sixteen Tarrant county with five hundred eighteen for the same period. In phoenix. Two thousand nine hundred forty seven non-medical exemptions people not getting back Sonate. He's a Facebook closed Facebook group, I guess for anti vaxxers. Yeah. Called the natural health anti vacs community. And a woman posted something here's what she posted. My three year old does not maximum. And there is currently a measles outbreak in my state. She must live in Oregon any suggestions for cautions. I can take to protect her would be very much appreciated that was fine. Posting. But it can't worm got out of the closed group and Boyle Boyle, he get some responses. Just a sampling here fellow by the name of Robert Hastings said well, if if only there existed some kind of medicine to protect children from getting such a vaccination, if you will you think Eddie McLaughlin, said measles is not the biggest threat to your child. A parent who gets their medical advice from Facebook is. And bladder MIR Makovich said, well, I got to find a willow tree. The tree must be at least forty seven years old. Then you've got a new branch off the tree you hanging over the kids bed facing south southeast and the most important bit. You must hang it with red ribbon. I'm sorry. What are you gonna say? What are you asking for for prevention groups, where people just post the dumbest things? I'm sure like I said it was a closed group. She was talking. She was talking to people. Right. But still no there are no precautions except that you keep your child home indoors away from everybody else in the world. Exactly. It's eight forty five at KLIF.
