"What if I just DM him and say, hey, 'cause I haven't seen him in ages. So, you know, we're not like super tight or anything, but I definitely like, you know, what if I say your biggest fans and would you come on the podcast? We love his thug appeal and we would absolutely do it. His baggy. Tim's my bag. Yes, we are, JC. We are still feeling the thug feel. To this day. We have to move on. This is getting out of control. This is gonna be like a 45,000 hour podcast. Okay. What's your favorite place to bring people to when they visit LA? Like when guests come, where do you bring them? Oh, I really, I just have a thing for the Hollywood Bowl. Yes. It's a good one. Everything about it is always magic. You get a little lying, you get a little cheat, you know, it's a whole night. It feels like just like LA magic. I love it. It's like out of a movie. Can I say that one of the first times everyone told me was for John Mayer. Where the light is. You went to that? Yes. It really pains me to see a person living your life. Like from age 14. Wow. No, like truly. Like if Kirby could freaky Friday, but with Kirby and Kirby and Ollie just there we go. Allie is combine me and your dreams in like one human. It's so funny because I knew this because Sarah, we were gonna reschedule and then she was like, oh well if Kirby won't be able to be here and so but that's fine too. And I was like, something's telling me I was like, no, I want the full experience. I need Kirby to be there for some reason. Well, for all the reasons, but like, I wanted to be there, but I was like, we gotta cater to ally..

"No, ally, you're incredible and I'm so grateful that you have let me be a part of the club and just like that you're able to even do what you do on top of everything else and how you have just committed yourself and the representation of Asian Americans women on the Internet on social media in media so much of it stems back to you. You may not realize that, but you are doing such incredible work and it's just like I hope you realize that that makes me so happy and one thing I will say about that is one of the goals of AGC is I remember one time I was looking up maybe a hashtag around Google like Asian women or Asian girls and the images that came up was a lot mostly over sexualization and fetishization of Asian women and that was something on that day that I was like, what if we could Google ourselves or what if we could put in this hashtag and what I believe Asian women, what I know and believe Asian women to be the most multifaceted multi talented, beautiful leaders of companies just across every industry doing incredible things and that's what I want to see represented when you look up the hashtag or when you're looking at this community. That's what I want people to see, not this over sexualization of what we really need to work hard to crash down. So that makes me so happy that you say that Sarah. I'm so happy. Yeah, no, absolutely. Well, can't wait to see what else is in store for a GC and to thinking Kirby for being our best ally. We need to get you some merch, Kirby. Yes. Does that weird? Because I've bought Asian, so I don't want people to be like, okay, you crazy white Karen, claiming claiming another person's face..

Glos Angeles community. Please help you girl out. Yes. Glos Angeles community. The glam cellino's, right? Yes. Please help your sister out. Okay, we're coming to the end, but we would be remiss if we did not talk about Asian American girl club. Especially during this month, you just share more about AGC and how we can follow how our listeners can follow and support, where can we find you, anything exciting that you're working on? And may I just first say that Asian American girl club would not be what it is without the one and only Sarah tan. And it's so important that we do shout you out, Sarah, because from day one, you have just been such an advocate and somebody that amplifies everybody and the way you do it is with such great energy and just an amazing spirit. I think last year you guys talked about and I was like weeping listening to it because you're just both of you are just such incredible people and I'm just so honored to be here but I wanted to make sure to say that Sarah like you are such a big part of the AGC and everything that's gone on with it. So thank you so much. Well, whether you like it or not, I have basically forced myself on to ally. Like I was like, I'm gonna be a part of this. "Seeing more on set like a diverse group of hair and makeup teams versus the way it was when you first got started? Or do you think there's still a long ways to go? Or is there like a difference between doing, I mean, I don't know, like, you're on hacks, right? Is there a difference between working with HBO versus like another network like fox or something like that? Give us the tea. My HBO Max knows what about diversity. Give you the tea. I love that. This is the big headline of the day. What is HBO Max's makeup artist like? That's the name of this episode. Okay, well, knowing that Donnie Davie is leading euphoria over there. I can only expect that the HBO makeup departments are pretty good. No, they know what's up. I think they know what's going on. But I don't know, so ally, please. This is my favorite podcast I've ever been on in my life. And it is just so fun. I'm just laughing so much. I'm sorry, this is just to everyone who's listening. This is 45 minutes of me straight up laughing because I just adore these ladies so much. Okay, I will say that in terms of glam and red carpets, I feel so empowered because there are so many amazing artists and choices and, you know, when it comes to that side of things, we have the luxury of being able to choose. Like, I can call Kieran or I can call Alan who would love or Daniel and be able to work with them one on one and learn so much from them. When you go on set, it's kind of a mixed bag, right? You're just showing up and you have no idea what you're walking into. But I will say that everyone I've worked with in the past few years, no matter what if they're Asian or not, which most of the time they are not, which is still such a thing that we need to work on, is I would say that everyone is so mindful now. They make sure to ask me the questions. What are you comfortable with? Is there something that I can do that's that you're comfortable with or that you like to do? So I would say that everyone is so mindful now. And I think that is so beautiful. I think everyone is obviously putting inclusivity first and representation. So that's lovely and wonderful. I have not had a problem in the last few years, so thank goodness. And I'm so proud to say that I just wrapped on my new Apple TV show that's coming out later this year and we had, I would say 95% in all black hair and makeup crew, which was phenomenal and wonderful and I just had the best time..

"Maybe two years and, you know, we were signed to Columbia Records. It was like, we had the album already to go, and then MTV was filming this reality show about us, so they would follow us around all these things. Like, we had a song on the sister of the traveling pay at soundtrack and the trolls or whatever cartoons. And then MTV was like, oh, you know, we filmed the pilot and they were like, well, we decided to pass on the show, guys, because we have another show that's very similar that we've been working on that we're going to go with instead. And it ended up being the Ashley Simpson show. Oh, I loved that show. Yes, same, very big fan, but you know, it was like us or her situation and rightfully it was her. And thank goodness because after that, everything kind of fell apart. And you know, I always wanted to be an actress. So I think it was for me, it was always a good thing because I didn't ever really want to be in the music business and after that, it kind of just fell apart and Ashley Simpson went off to have her show and I went off back to acting and it was a great thing for everybody involved. What did you learn makeup wise? I think a good segue would be like, okay, so you move out to LA, you're in the boot camp. You're doing valley girls. Like, did your manager teach you how to do makeup? Like, who was the person that kind of taught you, yeah, I'm like, imagining like Annie. Like I'm picturing big Allie being really scrappy, like Annie with the other orphans. Like that's what I mean. Hillary Duff and cadet Kelly like boot camp. Just like, I mean, I don't know, do we want to talk about makeup secrets from that time? Because I think it was just those little, those little pots of gel that had the glitter in them and me just shoving them all over my eyes. Do you remember those big pots of goo that were just glitter goo and then the ones that you stack on top of each other? The way they twist it and top of each other. Yeah. Yes, exactly. So for all of the people on here that are looking for my makeup secrets, that was it. The stackable glitter pods, I guess you could say. But like how did you prepare for auditions and stuff? Like, I mean, obviously you're young, so you don't want to do a lot of your makeup, but to Kirby's point, like what were you instructed to do? Well, so it's so funny is, you know, I credit my mom a lot to just my really good skin care habits because growing up she would buy all of the Avon products and so she like loved Avon. And so it was something that her and I could do together is like bond over skin care and she was always from day one she'd always be like, you have to use toner..

"Yeah. Yeah, you can do anything. Yes, and you know yourself as well. I mean, every time I hear a voice the first thought is always still giggling dimple just because but you can do anything. All right, let's go to the bad. What is the bad? I can't hit monkey. Well, going off of the rated R, the rated R of it all. I have that weird thing. I don't know if it's that mother daughter thing where everything I do is still revolves around my mother's approval, which is like, yo, I'm 37 years old, but why can't I get rid of that? I don't know what I don't know. Do you guys have that at all? Oh yeah. My mom might be listening to this right now. So everyone, come on, please. Yeah, so I think that's the only time where I get an intense thing of sweats when I just think about my mom and thinking that she's going to watch it or listen to it. I'm just like, I can literally talk to anybody didn't really phase me to be honest, but when I think about my mom, I'm just like, I'm panicking. I don't know what's happening to me. So I think the only bad is that in that rate at our realm, I know she'd probably be like, oh, well, that was an, you know, and choice. What about, you know, also I'm an anti now. You know, I got nieces and niece and nephews, so I am an anti I've becoming much more of that Amy Poehler. I'm a Coulomb. I'm trying to fit in with the, you know? I'm like, I'm definitely not cool. I'm such a grandma. But yeah, I think I am more considerate of, especially with a AGC two considering we have such a widespread audience of girls as young as 6. And grandmas, which is awesome. But I'm always considering how I use my voice, what roles they walk into and making sure that if it is something that is rated or it's still mean something and you know, I think that's what was awesome about this show is it's still very deeply connected to me in some way. So I think the only bad is being mom don't watch this kids. A lot of kids like AGC, some of the moms are like, oh, should my daughter watch this? And I'm like, no, no. This is not an animated kid show. I can hear my mind actually, your mom's saying, I don't understand Ellie. The monkey has more lines. I mean, the monkey has a lot of, I mean, you can hear what the monkey is saying, even though he just speaks lucky. Oh, he's good. For those who liked like hearing Allie and Toy Story four, do not see hit monkey. I'm talking about the kids out there. It's not for the kids. The adults. This is for their parents. You know, who wants the home alone experience, but with more blood..

"It seems so obvious that we would understand each other on this insanely deep level. But you know, it wasn't always like that. So I do not take these relationships for granted. And I also hope that it shows to younger women are just other women in general that we don't have to have the scarcity mindset. We don't have to be like, hey, there's only room for me because there's not. And that's the worst way to think about it. But once you have that kind of change in mindset, you can't go back because it's so fulfilling to have other people to walk life with. I have to break, and then we're going to do our good bet in WTF with you, but one thing I wanted to talk about, just real quick is something I know about you is that one of the things that kind of plagues you is that people confuse you with another person kind of on a regular basis. I was on a panel with you one time and you mentioned that. And I was like, I was appalled because it was like, oh my God, this seems like it happens a lot. I was wondering if you could mention that real quick. Oh, sure. I could absolutely mention it. But awesome, the most awesome human to be confused with Ali Wong. I mean, listen, I get it. We're both named Ali from Asian. I totally get it. But, you know, I've had those moments where I'd be like, at an actual table read and, you know, a producer would be like, hey, big fan of your work, and I'm like, oh, me, thank you. That means a lot. And he's like, and congrats on the baby. And I'm like, what baby? And then I was like, no, that's not me. And then he thought I was lying. He was like, okay, so you're like, you're lying about your baby. And I'm like, I'm not lying about myself. Actually don't have a baby, but I get what you're saying, but, you know, it's just, you know, at the end of the day, I'm like, cool part, I mean, I love her and she's so awesome. I don't mind being, but maybe that just means we need to play sisters or something. But again, it could be too ally. It's fine. Honestly, never thought of it that way, but yes. You can see it. You can inform another club, Asian alley girl club. Exactly. All right. So let's take a break. And when we return, we will do the good, the bad WTF with Ali maki..

"Like, no matter how hard I try or whatever I think a lot of being Japanese will always just be in me and I don't think I understood that because I am so American. So I really like you said enjoy projects like that like this because being Japanese is so important to me and there's so many parts of that that I so deeply resonate with, but I'm also so American. So it is those two halves of yourself that we're talking about. So I love this project and I think it was cool. The parts that they did take from Japan and the landscape, the animators did incredible job. And I know Josh and will want it to be so respectful of it. And I don't know if you remember. And I think it was in the beginning of episode three. They just took a minute to walk like you were going through the torii like the fushimi and Adi Gates. And they just kind of did that. And I thought that was such an awesome way to open an episode with no dialog, no characters. It was just kind of pain homage. It felt like you were walking through those gates. And I don't know. There's so many parts of it that hit different parts of my culture. Because I am, you know, my story is different that I'm not first gen, you know, the immigrant story. I think my story is just a bit different. So for me to do projects like this that kind of walk that line feels very special. It is I think it's really cool when animation does lean into its characters ethnicities. You don't have to cast like you don't see them, so you don't really have to cast an Asian actor in an Asian role. But when they do, it kind of makes that extra difference. It really does create a more whole character from behind The Voice, you know? Yeah, I absolutely think it does matter. And I think, you know, we had this sort of reckoning with obviously we've had it with the kind of live action stuff. But then we also saw it with voice overs too and how important it is for there to be that representation that feels authentic in those spaces too. So I don't know, I'm excited. Like, to walk into a cast with, you know, you have the trailblazers like George K but then you have, you know, Olivia money was such an active participant in talking about all of this and just such an awesome human in general, but also like nobody nakanishi, who is fellow JA that I didn't ever think I would meet or be able to work with. So just to have that many amount of Asian American talent, but also Japanese American talent, too, because there's not a lot of us, I'm always like actively like, where are you? Where are you? Let me find you. So I enjoyed that part of it. It is nice to have that sense of connection, even though you're not necessarily actually recording in the same room, right? It still feels like, you know, your members of a club..

"It's in pretty, it's been pretty incredible to see the way people have had to adjust to this new reality of being a performer in Hollywood. And I'm just making stuff, you know? Obviously, voice acting was a very easy pivot for a lot of people because of the solitude of that. I'm curious about so you said that hit monkey came before actually started before the pandemic. I want to note, because I've watched a couple episodes now of hit monkey. And it is, it's weird. I mean, I feel like I'm not being insulting when I say this. I'm like, it's kind of weird and it knows it. I gotta know when this project comes to you. I don't know, I don't know how it came to you, but when it does, what do you read through this and be like, what is this? You know, like, what is your reaction to this? Well, okay, so I knew it was going to be awesome because the casting director Julia Ashton, who is just a phenomenal credible human. Actually casted wrecked. So I just knew her and her track record of I feel like it's very in that realm of how wrecked was very weird and irreverent. I feel marvel's hit monkey is very much in that same lane of just it is its own thing, and I love, I love projects like that. So I definitely trusted what she was, you know, kind of the cast she was putting together. But I mean, you know marvel, I didn't know much about it. But when I looked up the character, I was like, this dude seems awesome. He's badass. And what I really enjoyed was, you know, I've done a lot of stuff for, I mean, kids, you know, I did Toy Story four. I've done, you know, even home so we don't alone. It's very all family friendly stuff. And this is the first thing that I've done, I mean, since rack was a bit, you know, like for adults, but this is a hard R. I mean, this is a hard food at R where even when I was screening for the first time I was like, oh my God. I really, okay, she got a sliced in half, though. But, you know, I enjoy it. I really enjoyed that because I am the youngest of I have two older brothers. And this is something that I think, wow, my brothers will actually be like, this is rad. Who knows? So for that, I was, I was excited, but it was cool to explore my range in that sense of, wow. Doing a voice-over that was dark and Gritty, still still comedic, but I enjoyed that. I would say it's a PG rated the series for primate gore, but. On that note, actually, you know, of the fact that this is very much, you know, kind of a more mature series. The other thing which I think was really interesting about it, it's intended to be sort of this neo noir very dark, obviously quite bloody thing. But it's set in Japan. And I think one of the things I really took out of this and enjoyed about it is it has tonally flavor that feels kind of like.

Have a conversation with them and when you prepare properly and you have these things in place you in a much better position to succeed so the first one they wrote his mindset the second one i wrote for you. Get off x factor. So when do you think is the best time to present your doctor. Maki come in and just start talking about your ex factor right off the bat that might not. You're almost offensive at that point. You don't wanna be defensive at all in this presentation because it's not a presentation of consultation others he x. I guess the question is taken. Here's how does the x. Factor come into play in windy. And how when and how do you explain director so i think this and that's a great question so i think part of it i believe part of it has to do with what your x factor is so if you background say before he got into real estate you are an interior designer or you are an internet marketer. I think your x-factor comes up in the pot of your consultation. That would be talking about marketing or the internet. So i'm not going to start out with saying. Hey do business of me because i used to be you know ended up marketer and i drove ten successful companies. Only i get to marketing. Start talking about internet marketing. "And i said well doc actually. I think you'd be happy with either. I loved my model x. I got it when it first came out. One of the very early model x.'s. Never had any problems with it. My wife was not as crazy about it Because and this is i think important. Understand by tesla. Tesla is not a traditional car company. They are much more like a silicon valley tech company. They they fast. You would get updates. You know almost weekly on your tesla I don't know if it's still the case. But at the time because they're constantly iterating trying new stuff they do crazy stuff. There was a fart mode on my model x. As i go down the road it would Pass gas which is elon. Musk cookie sense of humor. Ford would never do that. Their car company right and so I didn't mind the model x. because i i'm a tech guy i'm used to. I'm used to things sometimes not working quite right. Once the seat got outta whack and started to eat my wife basically been squished. Her didn't hurt her. You know but it made her mad. The doors didn't have all the sensors you know. This is the one with the falcon wing doors that it should have had it. You know they imply that it's never gonna hit anybody. It would routinely hit her in the head so much so that we actually had to set up a protocol where i would shout doors are closing stand clear before i push the button little things like that drove. Her nuts. didn't bother me. Because i use computers right. It's normal understood in like i'm not trying to hit in the hunting it's the model x. The other reason. I was a little concerned at the time. And i don't know if this is better or worse about the ability of repair parts. I'd heard horror stories from people with broken windshields. Couldn't get them for months things like that. I think tesla given that they've making the made a million model threes. Now that i think they probably saw that and then ironically for it's having the same problem with a machi because it's a brand new vehicle and they've had some they'd had a big recall because the glass panel on the roof wasn't properly attached. "Maki. The review is up at Dr Chicago dot com. Right now. It's interesting that we're reviewing these two vehicles together because at face value you look at him and you say they couldn't be any more different ones, a battery electric kind of sporty crossover and the other one's a rugged off Roader. That's kind of you know, aimed more at the active lifestyle, ear's so you think, Well, they don't make any sense. They both come from Ford. But they do make a lot of sense. If you Look at Ford's lineup. I mean, they've got the Ford escape as your run of the mill compact crossover. That's gonna you know, support 90% of the market. 90% of the buyers are going to say escapes perfect for me. I love it. I'll take it. But if you want to get a little more rugged and off road, you can jump into this baby brother of the Bronco, the Broncos sport or if you want to kind of be cutting edge, and you want performance, you can get this Mustang Maki, Battery Electric. And so it's really interesting that Ford I don't think this is my accident, but they almost stumbled upon this perfect mix of compact crossovers. That they can offer and it really is unique. Now. The Maki is Ford's really first battery electric vehicle. They did have energy models. They called them, uh, a few years back of the fusion, the C. Max, uh and and those were like, plug in electrics. This is fully plug in. You can't drive it into the gas engine. It doesn't have a gas engine, and it's basically a four door crossover. It's got some Mustang styling cues, and I'll let Jim talk about all that. And there's basically two versions that are available. There's a rear wheel drive version that has between 203 100 horsepower and about 232 300. In 10, miles and range. And then there's a dual motor model that has upwards of 500 horsepower and just a little bit less range, obviously, because you're using more power for the door motors and you know it's really interesting because it looks a little bit like a Mustang, but it's a four door wagon or maybe a four door hatchback, depending on your on your description and its price between 48 65. $1000. Then you've got this Bronco sport, which is really based on the escape and its rugged. It's got some styling cues of Bronco, but it's not nearly as capable off road. It's really a kind of mid step between a typical crossover and your true off road vehicle like a RAV four or Wrangler or the new Ford Bronco, which is just a little bit larger than this vehicle. So the naming kind of makes sense. It's kind of like a Bronco light, and I'm sure that Bronco sport makes more sense to afford them. Morocco light But you know, like the escape. It's got either a turbocharged three cylinder or turbocharged four cylinder engine. Uh, it's got room for five passengers, but but really it's better as a cargo carrying vehicle than the people carrying vehicle because it's a little bit shorter and smaller than escape. Whereas escape is more your true five passenger compact crossover, so price wise, they're a little bit farther apart. The Bronco sport is, you know, 30 to 40 and Maki is is a little bit more. You're looking like 45 to $60,000. But keep in mind that mark, he still gets a little bit of a Tax incentive if you're in that tax bracket, where you can take advantage of that, So so those are the two vehicles were looking at couldn't be more different, but at the same time, there's a lot of similarities in their mission. Jim, Let's start with the monkey styling wise in and out of the vehicle. If I'm getting the Marquis, I'm going all in. I'm going to spend the 60,000 plus dollars and get the GT Extended range battery version. All wheel drive performance edition 480 horsepower. I've said this before. When I went to last year's auto show when we were out there, and I looked at the Maki display, I don't know what it was about the vehicle, but I fell in love with it. I like the looks and already Ford has done great things with the monkey. I think we all can agree that when this first came out or the naming of it, and the images came out, we all kind of raised an eyebrow and said, Why are they putting the Mustang name? Um, an electric crossover. It just doesn't make sense, having driven this car now, having spent some time talking to afford representative about the Maki and explaining that their reasoning is Mustang is in a performance car, and that's why they wanted to create this performance lineup. And now that I've driven it, I get it. Um, Even the less expensive model does 0 to 60 in less than six seconds and the upcoming GT Performance Edition they're claiming will go 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds. That's pretty fast and that's worthy of a performance car named like Mustang. The hints of styling, you know, the three bar tail lights, the pony on the front and the grill. It certainly has a Mustang look to it, but but the performance matches and it's It was a really kind of fun. Surprise. You know, I wanted to not like it for that reason, but it's hard to deny how much fun this car is to drive. It comes with three different drive modes called Engage, Whisper or unbridled. And the weirdest thing about this car is that when you hit the gas, you just shoot forward. You know, I would joke with the kids would be like, all right, Put your head back. You know from the Stop saying we're going to launch And you just hit the gas and it's quick. It shoots off the line like performance car does, but you hear nothing. Um, And that is one of the weirdest things you know from someone who is like an enthusiast like me that likes the sound of the exhaust. You don't get that in this car. Even kind of the fake noises that come out with the unbridled mode really isn't anything. It doesn't match up to the actual V eight sound. Uh, but it's kind of cool in its own way, and that is the silent speedster. All right, the Broncos sport you're seeing more and more of these out on the road these days, and you can get that package to take it off road. But to me, this Bronco sport is still more of an urban and suburban sort of vehicle right now, Jim, I agree. I just finished driving this car this week and I had the Badlands version, which is one of the more capable ones to take on some trails. Note that this vehicle does not come with the low range, so this is not intended for some serious off roading like the actual Bronco is, but what a lot of people don't understand. And maybe it's because there's been such a delay on the actual Bronco coming out. This is not the new Bronco. Um, and there's been some disappointed people to be like, Oh, that's not really what I thought it would be the Broncos sport as they completely different model as Mark kind of mentioned, you know, the sport is part of the name. It's not a trim level. There are different trim levels known as the Big Bend, the Outer Banks, badlands and first Edition. Those are your Bronco sport trims. But yeah, it's more of an urban dweller light. You know if you want to go camping and hit some trails, This competes more with like a Subaru forester or Jeep renegade something along those lines. This is not the competition to the Wrangler. But they've added some really cool features in here. You know, you got the two different engine options. The one I drove had the two liter turbo with 250 horsepower, which I thought was sufficient for this car. The badlands trim had all rubberized flooring, so it is meant to get a little bit dirty is definitely more function over style inside. Not to say that it's a bad looking interior at all. It's just It's really easy to get in and used. You know, all the tech everything's where you'd want it to be. There's no learning curve in a car like this. Whereas the other end of the table the most thing marquee, you kind of got to sit in and look at that 12 inch touchscreen where everything is and kind of familiarize yourself with it, because that's not one that Is as turnkey is, from an operational standpoint, Okay. Good stuff, Jim. We can find out more about the Ford Mustang Maki and Broncos sport by doing what you can read the full reviews that Ryan Chicago dot.

P.E. Teacher Becomes Full-Time Sports Gear Reseller

"Today in our latest feature will hear from a teacher who buys and resells sports gear. I love to look at stories of simple reselling. Because as i said simple. These are very simple projects. That are important to highlight. Because it's something that most people can do if you're out there and you're like totally new to the whole world. This is a great thing to jump into. I think The guy we're going to hear from. Today matt his total startup cost with something like one hundred dollars actually makes his first profit by selling his own stuff like his own. Jerseys kind of reminds me how. I was selling my own items from around my apartment more than twenty years ago when i got into this kind of thing and eventually for him. He ends up going all in with. This action retires from teaching to focus on his re-selling dig his businesses. Going really. well he's doing up to eight thousand dollars a month or so. He's managed this all throughout the pandemic of course so he's got some good lessons about time management etc. Now we. I heard from matt nearly two years ago in the original story Let's now hear directly from him. And i'll come back at the end. Perhaps share a story or two from my own re-selling years little quick trip down memory lane along with some advice for you. If you'd like to get into this to no matter how much you sell ship station makes it super easy to manage ship your orders from all your sales channels faster cheaper and more efficiently. They have been helping many of our listeners. For four years now ship station you'll spend a lot less time on shipping a lot more time growing your business in no matter where you sell amazon oetzi. You're on website. They can funnel all your orders into one simple interface service from a great company. That as i said i know has helped a lot of our listeners. You can ship more or less time with the offer code hustle. Get your sixty day free trial. That is two months free of no hassle stress free shipping. All you gotta do is go to ship. Station dot com. Click the microphone at the top and type in hustle that is ship station com offer code hustle. Make shit happen. My name's matthew myers. We are located in indianapolis indiana on the north side of town. My side hustle from seven. Twenty seven was kevin's lockouts instill as epa clubhouse side. Hustle is a resale sports in store. So i essentially. I had goodwill's stores scrap sales markets and then essentially resell gently used sports fan gear. And it's pretty much anything ranging from palace pros From both ear to cycling ear to winter jackets could be anything from maki North face to to the old nineteen ninety a starter jacket. Everybody has the chicago bulls one that we all grew up more so i always try to find the brand. The brand names let everyone tries to buy but off discount and then obviously compared to larger with nike and medicine and things like that. So essentially i just i go to stores deal mainly for stores buy low sell high and try to offer big products to people and it seems to save to be working where people are always gonna be wearing that either to a game and obviously you really go into games right out. During a pandemic people like wearing that stuff going on their favorite team. I started this back in two thousand seventeen of between teaching jobs. I left my previous school for a new teaching opportunity. But i was also unemployed needed cash so i kinda just sold things on the side that i wasn't using it like an old jersey so i sold an old chicago cubs jersey for seventy bucks tonight. Said well you know. Maybe maybe something to this. So i'm going to sell an i. I probably had thirty forty jerseys. I want i sold them. Georgia this cycle a mortgage. And i was like okay. Well they sold pretty quick. You know maybe maybe this is something. I can actually take off and run with and actually create business but you know between north korea and mainly will be clothes. I've been able to manage to make profit enough where i can officially retired from teaching. And make this slimane hustle. I before i left. I needed to see the numbers on my end of a meghan. You know five six thousand a month okay. You know sales growth sales. So i knew that i was it. Was it was a good enough jump to to try to make this full-time gig. And i'm lucky to last year's at it has even with my biggest challenge right now is that now. It's time time time though is going to be a challenge. I think i think a lot of people will tell you that My my i love working at night. And i'm kind of like a night out precise so i'll let you everything done late at night. Then as morning hits you know it's hard to get up at seven eight o'clock and try to figure out you know. Hey i need to get all this stuff done before. I don't know four and get my orders out so just trying to be more productive trying to be better on my time. Let's old spent my biggest challenge and going into this year. I wanted to really make make that my project per se of like you know what it's time to get up. It's time to be productive. It's time to get to the stores. The fun part about all this is that you can go on thrift and you can go and find all the stuff. The hard part is get it all up getting listed getting measured and then getting shipped out with someone. That's that's always the nasa art so just trying to balance both has been tough but again realizing that this is my full time job like there is no teaching job anymore. They're in snow. Kindergarteners coming in for p. Like just to be completely focused on everything. I think so far it's only been seven days of twenty-three one pasha thank you so much matt really appreciate that update So glad to know what's going so well you've been able to make it your full-time gig check out. Trump's achievements in the Middle East

"Donald. Trump's foreign policy is all too often met with derision or simply chairmanship? Isn't it? The critics Maki's diplomacy and they pan the choice of son-in-law Jared Kushner as a Middle East envoy. However just dies away from the US presidential election. Trump has had a few certifiable victories to put in his closing advertising pitch to the American people. I'm of course referring to the peace deals between Israel and Bahrain the United Arab Emirates and Sudan these have been brokered by the trump administration well to tell us more about the significance of these Abraham. Cords. For the Prophet of Jews, Christians and Muslims alike. Let's tune to Greg. Sheridan, he's foreign editor of the Australian Gregg welcome back to the show. Glad to be with your. Greg, your assessment of trump foreign policy generally. Well I think. The media has done generally around the world agree poor job on analyzing trump because themselves have become. So polarized there the all against trump or a small minority of the mural for trump whereas I trump has had some wins and some losses. stylistically he's been very unorthodox and at times on counterproductive but you can look back inside that what trump has been a bath is being creating leverage. The United States in K. relationships is put tariffs on China, and that gives him something to negotiate with Jonah He's put sanctions on Iran that. Gives him something that Iran wants to get rid of an in every relationship? He's got leverage for the United States. Now I think he's done a lot of specific things that have actually been quite good. You can certainly criticize the way he talks about alliances, but it these actions rather than his words quite a lot of the things he's done have been very successful especially in Asia and the Middle East is increased the US military budget more than any other president and American allies. Niger very happy about that the allies in Asia. Have Been Critical of China and most inclined to stand up against Jonah namely Japan India Vietnam Singapore Australia a couple of Damon our full hours course I very good relationship with trump role. Bilaterally, a lot of his relationships been very successful India and Australia. His administration has built the quotes the quadrilateral security dialogue. He has recognized the nature of the Chinese threat to the international system and do American interests better than any other president. Andy's moved the debate along at the same time. There's been a lot of chaos in his administration, the White folks terrible but I think he's had some real wins and I think he's done very well in the Middle East. Okay. We're talking about the Middle East You have argued in the astride newspapers I amount to a major step forward in the pace there why these Arab states altering their relations with Israel is it because of the mutual fee of Iran or is it because the US has leaned on the Motley? Well it's by the size I think Tom plus some other factors as well, but you've just got to pause. And model at the size of trump's achievement in and. To even out of these words, probably you know get you sort of condemned by all international relax plots society at. A. O. Over knocks the of international relations would would excommunicate you for saying it. But you know Israel has five peace treaties with Arab nations. Three of them have come under Donald Trump. He has said we back Israel one hundred percent is move the embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem tremendous symbolic sign of his commitment to Israel. But he has said we all sat back the security of the Gulf Arab states and are opposed to Iran and we kind to put sanctions on it. We think the nuclear deal when far enough now, the Gulf Arab states all agree with trump about Iran. But also items cells to some extent lost interest in the Palestinian cause. They're certainly not going to allow Palestinian view of Israel to be a roadblock. Now, they say Israel is a very good security Patna and they are encouraged by the US administration to might place with Israel if you just change in your ABC's ready national with me Tom Switzer my guest is Greg Sheridan foreign editor of the Australian. Now Greg you've been one of Australia's leading defenders of Middle East policy for decades. Trump came to power on an America I strategic. He's goal a piece to be to reduce significantly America's military role in the Middle East. We just talked about this grand aimed Iranian coalition that can contain tyron wants the Americans have gone given that America is now energy independent moralists isn't this retrenchment from the middle. East if trump is reelected, isn't that a good thing? Well. I think. It's makes Grill Tom. I think it is probably a good thing. The thing tonight is about trump is that on the whole he has implemented a lot of his foreign policy promises. If you put trump's record on the Middle East, all together it's pretty impressive. The US defeated Isis and he's decided that the Iranian. Nuclear deal is a very bad deal. I agree with him about that because it recognizes the legitimacy of Iran's nuclear industry allows enrichment of uranium a whole lot of other things and then allows in a very short period of time I'm sales to rent said trump said that's completely unacceptable. He wants a new and much better they'll, and in the meantime he's applying sanctions to Iran. has significantly diminished Iran's ability to cause mayhem in the region but that brings me to the point about what happens if Joe Biden is elected knicks wiggle the polls. Many of the pundits the betty markets point to a Democratic victory next week if a bottom administration comes to POW, Greg dozen that increase the chances of everything you've just been saying being wound back, I? Mean wouldn't Baden for example. Revert to the Obama nuclear deal with Iran. Well Eight. That's what he says he'll do allow. Kind of the problem. So the final point from the past there is that trump is not engaged in any new military adventures whereas even Bama engaged in the regime change in Libya which had absolutely eleven offers consequences now, Baden. It's very unclear. What kind of Administration Baden will provide his advisors at the moment seemed to be dominated by retreads from the second, I. Bob. Administration Susan Rice and Ben Rides. But then his party has moved along why for an elect- with Anastazia. Cortes and Bernie Sanders and the influence of the crew he says he's going to make climate change the center of all of his foreign policy I think. He may repeat a mistake of trump's, which is simply to try to undo everything his predecessor is done whereas trump has left Baden assuming button does win trump was left on a lot of leverage tramples. Authorized the elimination of the commander of the Iranian could force SOMAINI and. The, Iranians, like everyone else are scared of trump and they're. Constrained by not knowing what he's going to do even though he hasn't done any major military intervention, I don't think I've boughten will WANNA put more troops back into the Middle East or anything like that. The story of the last ten or twelve years really has been Americans will will say trying to get out of the Middle East and finding it very, very difficult to do so but Baden would be. Tremendously mistaken if he didn't try to capitalize on the successes, trump might I certainly don't think he's GonNa WanNa Talk Sudan or by Ryan will will the United Arab Emirates? Out of normalization with Israel, but will is administration base smart enough to keep it going with other Gulf states in trump was saying the other day that he thinks Saudi. Arabia can might place. With Israel, we'll that would been shattering. That would be I don't tectonic shift in the Middle East and Baden if he's smart or his administration as. Will keep going down that road and then God bless them. They can get all the accolades for forever success they won't themselves. But if they get back to the Paragon the John Kerry paradigm, you've gotTa somehow miraculously solve the Palestinian problem before we can do anything else Well, I think it could be much less effective than trump.

Fear of war mounts as Iran and the U.S. trade escalating threats

"Talked about the initial We've talked about the issues surrounding grounding the death of the Iranian military leader this weekend but the papers are full of the different ways to approach this huge crisis. Yes I mean looking across the British from pages. This morning is You know a clean sweep of mostly obviously the British reaction to the US attack back on the Iranian leader And as you say they take all the different different views of it so The Daily Telegraph is leading with Boris Johnson's comments on own as he returned from from his holiday over the New Year. warning Iran do not retaliate and saying that prime minister is calling for de Escalation of hostilities Whereas the Guardian looks at it from different view saying pressures growing on trump to justify the killing And they are reporting that you know the reasons that Donald trump gave for this for this attack because hanging they were you know the thin and the Financial Times Iran Rolling Maki this interval backfire. Back on the nuclear deal as Iraqis removal of US troops. I'm the Times has an interesting front page where they have spoken to an unnamed senior commander in in the could foresee they say had worked was being close to because all the money and they've told The Times that offers Iranian forces will will retaliate and target. US troops in the Middle East without any concern about killing its allies including UK troops and continues as this has turned into a fully-fledged fledged war with much. Collateral damage expected. Now obviously a loss of this on both sides is saying warned making grave threats and huge warnings warnings. And we don't know what is actually going to happen but Interestingly the The Daily Telegraph has also been speaking to FULMER UK hey military figures. They've spoken to the UK's former head of the navy and ex national security advisor Lord west of spit head and he is wanting. I'm saying that suggesting that the UK is softer target than the US. Any violent backlash by Tehran. He says I mean any Iranian response. He says will have to be calculated related to avoid a full blown war and he is suggest the Telegraph suggesting here. Some of the potential threats to the U K would include possibly iranian-backed a back sleeper cells British tourists and business travellers British prisoners in Iran of course people lightnings Ghauri Ratcliffe's case has been very high profile cyberattacks rex which is shipping and fuel supply and British troops in Iraq shows sort of how wide-ranging what's interesting here is. The anger seems very very much Directed against the United States but by Iran and Iraq. However the statement that we had from the French President Emmanuel Macron Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel and the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and European allies? It must be said do not mention Donald Trump wants and they do not mentioned the US's involvement in this. It seems to be an argument entirely between you between the US. And Iran with other countries being dragged down as collateral damage. Well I think you know yes as you say the the other countries and it's interesting that here Britain is putting out a joint statement with with France and Germany. Obviously in a who they had worked with in the past over the the Iran nuclear and then they're focusing as you say very very much on. What can we do about the rest? We are still continuing our fight against Dr Against Against Isis. We are still looking at the broader picture in the Middle East and they are really trying t- to calm the situation but let's let's see how how that will would

Amazon Product Differentiation with Jon Tilley of ZonGuru

"We must come into the question of differentiates Because as you said half of as the data side I guess this is more human side. I'd a kind of POL division mud pop. Because obviously he shows up in convention percent- wonderful looking at different from the house. But tell maybe about differentiation. How would you start again particularly from the newcomers perspective as you're looking the markets are against one of the decisions which is the focus of this episodes in learn how to go into a particular market to the data and you've got some kind of school for the listing optimization? Couldn't placement of the main key was use of images videos is in hospital contents. ABC So how do you consider the differentiation pieces prophet market decision and the topic specifically. I think we could talk for days on our on differentiation. I think it's going back points of what I said. which is it's fifty percents? Data's fifty take the decision. The other fifty percents that creative entrepreneurial focused around. Hey can I actually differentiate this product talking not connect with my customer. I can do this bit in the competition in. This is a bunch of ways to tackle. Let's I think that's the first points on that. Is that anybody. Here's launching. A product on Amazon has to differentiate their product in some way whether that's the simple ways through through images in visually or through your brand and through How you communicate that product to customers or obviously final differentiation? We actually changing the product. Whatever whatever range of things that you look at you have to differentiate in in in some way because It's it's not how you can beat your competition. But it's time to the elder in light of you can get Click and then get a high conversion Amazon is GonNa see you as making money for them. They're going to send you more traffic and you're GONNA do better rights you've got to differentiates in some way. I would say even before you looking. Well I guess once you've looked at the data and looking at parts idea. I think it's really going back to and a standing and doing a lot of work around your Avatar so Amazon so much a targeted audience. The more you can understand who you'll talk audiences. What the what the needs? Aw what are they once. What what what are they hate? What do they share and ready breaking it down doing some research Knitting that down your. You've got much more inputs to to how you're going to French. Agile product so that you can connect that that customer note for you on on an emotional level and a functional level which which is really important side though. Those are the kinds of things we I would. I would say anybody. Anybody who's going into Amazon wants the data office question would be how old you know you'll you'll you'll target audience and how much work done around best and if the roof is done then the second point is how do you differentiate but the trigger on differentiation is not to commercialize its commercial. But it's you ride it's a Yukon Yukon overcapitalize on your differentiations. You don't have any nick margin when you saw the product and that's a really tricky thing that a lot of people get wrong in the space they think. Okay Great. I had twenty dollars Kong's product and I'm going to go and spend ten dollars on my packaging because I think it's GonNa make that. He's GonNa stand up so much better than everything else. But you've just. I would capitalize on your products. You've got absolutely no money to to it with unit margin so those Entrepreneurs ones we actually find a product. Yeah they can charge a bunch and differentiated in a way which doesn't ads your your your your colleagues in a mess. Voice important piece just to get right. Absolutely interested in China eliminate Ola three reckonings at coke's cost of goods sold on the full one. Yes I absolutely agree in a non. I'm very glad you brought that up. Because a lot of people obsess. There are two things I want to reflect by. I think is so critical for my experience in working with a lot of new space. Many of whom DVD really well well Of How people do over million dollars on the back of some of what we've done on many do nothing as a lot of people never get around to actually selling but as you do as you said that the massive temptations to it's better in a general way on as you say the destroys the profit margin if you're not careful so about the first thing to say and the second thing you've just understand understand your customer Avatar. I guess putting those two pieces together if you understand exactly what some of the needs of a particular person you can provide that service for that particular person that does exactly the jump. They need but doesn't try and be singing dancing. Netflix Maki net margin him. And not taking for what. You've just been saying Satochi of that Can we take a bit further into that. How would how do you indeed differentiate something for a particular type of customer and keep your net margin is is the sixty eighty four thousand dollar question in my experience so I think the the the first thing there is to get information from your appetite so we actually have a unique tool called the love? Hate tool funny enough which is essentially what it does is for any given category Nisha looking at equal would cowed. How'd or the phrases around positive reviews and negative reviews force specific category And Star in a couple of minutes. You'll you'll have this word cod with with common phrases. What people have what people hate which is an important piece of information input into how he differentiated products bakery you can see all the common themes all trains and unique things that you can solve for the products that are space on not solving full? So that is again going back to commercial viability and and and how you defend your product. You have to start with with with the research. The information and that's the really critical way of getting into in terms of how I differentiate my products. I like to I think about those two to keep things which is one and if I could function differentiated how would I do that. And then to if I could visually differentiated based on aesthetic or or likes that stuff. How would would I do that? And I would lean towards the full obviously because if you can functionally differentiates that. That's an important thing but the second question on functional differentiation Hawkins talking to do that without a massive cost without. It's completely changing molds. Were things like that so again. That comes to radio understanding what your Avatar needs. It's rights and and it might be can't one the other day and it might be the way the doesn't have this additional said of ZIP ties. That are coming up with something that could be something very simple on on that on that level so those are things that I look at and then and I think that you'll brandon and your images is the first thing you should be doing and even today give doing a much better job with that but you can do so much and I still come across people well here in just a few dollars Going onto five at to get images win win win this the one of the most critical things to to businesses. Really shitty things in the right way and going off of Amazon and looking at the top brands any product launch. I'll take my brand literally. Put it in a in a in a image sit did with the top five world will brands for that products and say hey can I sipped with these with these. Brands does not does not product stack up against these top brands in space and I. I think everyone should do that as an exercise. which you look at? How does your brand with the top brands in the world because we have all the tools that we can compete with these days? So you've you've got you've got to really put some evidence that

Eli Manning returns as NY Giants' starting quarterback

"If you look last season Eli complete sixty. Three percent of his passes in the two games against Philli. Five hundred seventy passing yards in. It initially looked like he was going to have all his weapons tonight. But Evan Ingram. I guess was scratched Saturday afternoon. Shurmur said he thought he would play on Friday. So that is a big loss expecting Evan Ingram to go but now he's out and he was a went back looked at both meetings last season the first go round the giants outgained Philly by point eight yards per play. The Second Meeting New York goes into Philly puts up over. Four hundred yards of offense outgained the eagles by one point four yards per play. So I can tell you when this game reached ten we did see a by on Eli in the giants it was a value bet Nothing huge coach to quickly go over this. Because I don't know how much time we want to spend. I think if you're looking at the giants it's not a lot paying. The answer is not a lot like as I'm talking hogging motivating the speed at. There's two things that are that are somewhat relevant. Here right in the first is Eli against the Eagles Defensive Line in the pressure that can be created their right. Allies always hated pressure. We kind of made that joke years ago. He looks like a fish out of water. When pressures on and you gotTA drops the game the ground and got him squiggle we've seen him duck out of throws over the years right? A lot of his mistakes. Come when guys are barreling down on this season and it's only two game sample size. But there's a reason he was replaced it's because he has a passer rating of fifteen when he's under pressure and the eagles are top. Ten in pressuring. I'm not sure how Mike remers at right. Tackle is going to be able to handle Brandon Graham the night and if you read. The tea leaves their Brandon Grams Hoping for transactions at seven and a half now there's a couple bonuses and escalators that he would like to achieve so so get thirteen tonight. That's going to be one of the match ups to watch right pressure on. Eli Specifically Brandon. Graham against Mike remers at right tackle. I guess the second question. B Saquon against the Eagles defense. It's probably going to be tough sledding right. The giants online doesn't create a lot of space Four saquon in the ground game. You look. They're twenty six and then justed line yards on the other side. You have an eagles defense. That's eighth and defensive. Rush efficiency seventh in rushing success rate. You would think the goal for Phillies to shutdown saquon Maki lie beat them internally. I can tell you that gym shorts and the Eagles defense or embarrassed last week at Miami. They've said as much the unit thought they were turning a corner. They're becoming the strength of the team. Last week's performance kind of came out of nowhere. I would expect them to rebound a little bit here On that side of the ball

"Get started where we always Josie track report. He's focusing on Paknum. Is that Roger Riot true good for for their cap. Mating expecting nightline around saw should be beautiful conditions. A little bit of wind. Fifteen to twenty five says Wesley. So it'll be in their faces in the strike but look twenty-five Kaiser that track is very exposed so you can be partial to a lot of wind but only twenty five. You'll have too much impact but if it does it'll be in a headwind in the strike. Usually we always speak abaout back. Nakas Nakas really. Low percentage apply but they even packing him a little bit. You can swing moored such a long strike. Get your opportunities. So I expect to play fairly daily but not as big a disadvantage being off the spade was a couple of other tracks like awful prices. spayed it's not such a big disadvantage banging packing on the the soft six a drawing soft six. We hope can help these conditions move on the worst of that five and the troops truce off six just going to have have to say this race play. These track plays. I think it's in that because they've obviously had to irrigate heavily throughout the WACO. I just can't imagine come rice my warning that track. He's a fix it from the way that we've got coming up. So this is one of those guys. Josie we talk about it. You can get the older. One is my wife until the day before. Let's apply on the die in. Let's have good advice there are. We have pointed caveat here we're going to cover off plenty of rice from packing them and then we're going to have the group stop. Where else would we stop the sports bed packing them? Cop shows you might not be the the greatest of fields but there is definitely a winner here to be fan and the boys duvall on sacred buys is your fiber to two dollars. They've got sticky guides. It'd just be interesting. I think Chapada probably goes back sacred on the seven day backup. Wouldn't be surprised if they beat. The bullet sort of went forward and try to find a spot of us even want to be posted. Three Ward Dare nightside with no Kebab imortant just carry much just bought the bulletin go forward and if it does find a spot I think it is the winner or I have marked opted to thirty four. I think the price is pretty good at the moment tales. Forty five dollars fifty. You can get. I think he's got to be Mardi heart debate. I think he's just the raw vine form fourth up here. He's on the quake seven dieback which we love. We ask dying offices. He's very good at many valley. It was only moderate Tampa but hyman about eleven on last week which is pretty good for the die. He's got twenty four hundred meter win at core field backing April and that was in good time ran a terrible light section. But it doesn't matter if you're on like section. It's terrible if you live in front who absolutely ks not may not getting that I am with sacred I I think he's perfectly placed. Twenty five hundred meters. So more question Maki's a strong two thousand five hundred for Loyd cows off at that value. He was fourth close. But I can't seem running strong twenty-five and Beta sake replies if you look carry and you're running the best in the rice with the lack of speed I think across in use it and then lock and load after the first four hundred Maracaibo is interesting drawn. Capitalism is a danger to sacred on the backups differently. The debate Vandeweghe because he can in sty. He'll run the two thousand five hundred and he's drawing low and you'll get a soft around.
