"With a bum. Knee is still way off the charts. I mean you could do a lot of exercising and you're just trying to find stuff that doesn't aggravate it but you can also get multiple benefits by finding things that not only don't aggravated but maybe things that might strengthen it and you can kind of look some of these things up again ben. Patrick is one of the leading experts in this area. I think You can look up. Something called a peterson. Step up There are other exercises such as walking backwards with a sled can be tremendous. Ju just a sled has wait. A minute. And again ben patrick. He's smart and he knows like not. Everyone has access to you a sled that they can load plates on and it's not always easy to use that kind of stuff use it outside. It's loud and so he just recommends people get an old beat up backpack throw some weight in their attach of rope to it and then put it on your lifting belt and walk backwards with it and do it like in a field or something like that so there's just so many options in terms of You know even when we are her even when we are banged up but be patient with it and don't do a good rule thumb in terms of injury in terms of. I guess just pain in general. I think anyone could use this any time in the gym. And there's i'll give you a couple of good rules of thumb here. Number one is don't train above a pain level of three in terms of like discomfort and actual not like musk muscular Pain not like oh man. I don't know if i can do in the rep type stuff but More so just acute pain. You know you've got pain in your shoulder elbow or knee should never be above a level. Three notice. I said we're never right. Never be above a pain three. There's no reason it's not any more beneficial to continue to do that. Exercise hurts that bad. It's going to cause more damage other things to keep in mind our that your your first rep should look like i'm sorry you're last rep should look like your first rep and i believe that this is fairly true of all exercises almost all the time maybe ninety five or ninety eight percent of your training should look that way your last rep of your last set should look like the first rep of your first set. You're last rep of your last set. Should look like the first rep of your first set. Wait can dictate your reps and reps can dictate your weight. But they should be dictating each other for sure again. Meaning like if i'm going to put two hundred pounds something or one hundred kilos as you guys say. Put about one hundred kilos on something. Then i need to in my head. Associate a number of reps with that. That are reasonable for me to be able to do. And this is how we can avoid getting hurt in the first place. So hopefully all. Those things are helpful. There's also like a lot of other exercises you can do. Sometimes we tend to make fun of some of the stuff we see in jams but there's that nominal ergonomic where you can just move your arms you can also hit like a heavy bag Just you know punching like a heavy bag which just might be great released because of your frustrations with you know The knee pain. You can hit a speed bag which is just some fun exercise and you might be able to do something like an elliptical. You don't sleep on those things that there are still great forms of exercise And you can also kind of take this time to as you pointed out You know build up your upper body a bit train your arms a little bit more. Do more pushups. But if you're still trying to keep that heart rate elevated maybe you're able to get on an elliptical piece for thirty seconds. Go at pretty hard pop off there and do some shoulder flies. Go back to the elliptical comeback to the weights and and do You know some curls and so forth and still get amazing workouts. I think you'll be surprised and shocked at how awesome the workouts can be. Even though.

"My most memorable moment in a contest is bench pressing seven. Oh five It's in the film bigger stronger faster. There was a lot on the line. You know my brother's filming a documentary that Ended up landing in a movie theaters around around the country and there hasn't been a movie similar or sense that time That has had quite the impact that bigger stronger. Faster has had On the fitness community and on performance enhancing drugs in general and so It was a huge honor to be part of that. And to be going for this bench press Inequality test and be able to hit that bench press In that meat. And that's the way the movie ends. The movie ends with with me. Bench and seven. Oh five which is another honor. I mean is this really really cool. But like news thing about the circumstances leading up to all that and kind of the pressure that was at aps senior nationals. Which is one of the biggest competitions in the in the world at the time and it just felt amazing. Come through on that particular day. What people might not know about that days. I went nine for nine that day. I made all my squats. And it's a real one to have you on so we want to make this interactive as possible as say you guys very conic gives forty five minutes of your time so we just want to try and get as many questions as we can. Great to star mark those. That may not know you. Those you the in the audience would love to hear about you your story and how you got to become slingshot the power project to where you are now as a sound. Know that you've been a professional wrestler palace. The now you doing great things in business and inspiring many many people again. I'll let you take the reins man. We'll see if we can get some questions guy all right here we go so yeah all started when some asshole kicked my new york jets football into the woods and you can kind of cut to a rocky. Montage of meat training started lifting. When i was about twelve had two older brothers that were into lifting. My oldest brother was my childhood hero and He was big into football and big and lifting weights and so i followed in his footsteps and so did my brother chris. We've been a family that was Way into lifting weights way back before it was cool and not only were re into lifting weights. But we're also into powerlifting gym. That i kind of grew up in was a powerlifting type of facility although people didn't even call it powerlifting back then people were just into being big and strong and there was none of this No cardio equipment and things like that. People weren't talking about get skinny. People weren't talking about getting ripped they really just care about your performance and he cared about lifting heavy ask stuff. I started Lifting in a very young age and was immediately a little bit better than some of my friends. And i kinda recognized. Hey this is probably something that you should pursue. And so by the time i was about fourteen or so. I started compete. I broke some state. Records broke some national records and Just made me feel good about myself. And i wasn't The best in the classroom and so I had something kind of lean on or something to fall back on. That made me feel great about myself. i played a lot of Football i did track. I did boxing. I tried to do everything. I could to avoid powerlifting but it was always there. It's the girlfriend that i never wanted. That just kept coming back trying to annoy me And eventually i just gave up to it and surrendered to it and became powerlifter and eventually squad. Thousand eighty benched eight hundred fifty four pounds and dead. Lifted seven sixty six. Those are all equipped numbers. Where i wore bencher squat suit and things like that too. So people get a grasp of the type of lifting. I was doing because they might think man. Those numbers are absolutely insane. There are still heavy. No matter how you slice it but It was equipped powerlifting. At the time there was no raw power thing When i was coming through the ranks was just lifted and didn't really care what someone else War Gathered some professional wrestling for a while. And that's where i met people like john cena. The rock got to rub elbows with a lot of great individuals. And that kind of stuff. Help me recognize that. There's many different levels of success and there's many different levels of Genetics and all those kinds of things and it's been helpful for me to have that past Moving into the things that i do now and then also with professional wrestling. You have to have the gift of gab and be able to talk in front of people and That was tremendous in my development of being able to speak and once i got into powerlifting more as an adult i was like you know. I need to film this stuff. I need to share this with people. People are gonna think this dope. And so i started a youtube channel in two thousand seven. Probably about a year after youtube even started and Ben on social media from the jump and that is something that helped me to be known and then also something that helped me to be known as the film bigger stronger faster than my brother. Chris bell directed and People may know me from that or they may know me for my invention which is the slingshot a Support upper by device for bench. Press push ups and dips. And now i have a complete line of stuff that behind that elbow sleeves niece sleeves hip circles and so forth. And i guess kinda the rest is history from there so some people know me as a creator of some products some know me as a powerlifter and some people now me from the film bigger stronger faster about whatever i mean. I've i've i've folded for quite a few years and obviously now the success of sling. Charming up on your products as well and you know it's massive around the world but would you think was to become so successful from just be arrest..
Writing of infrastructure bill to take place in May, Pelosi says
"No timetable yet I'm getting President Biden Infrastructure plan to a vote passing a comprehensive infrastructure investment packages. URGENT House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says and drafting legislation could start next month when we're ready. We have the best possible bill. That's when we'll go forward. President Biden's two and a quarter trillion dollar proposal so far likes any support from Republicans and a group of Democrats also want changes to a trump era tax provisions limiting deductions for state and local taxes. I'm a big supporter of their position, as you probably know, it was devastating to the state of California Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. Is he will fight Democrats on the infrastructure plan every step of the way. Jared Halpern

"I'm gonna go off on a little tangent here as i always do. But the thing that makes the villain and the thing that makes a superhero are very often the same thing. The thing that makes the guy wants to Demise plan that destroys the universe and wants to have absolute power to corrupt everything and destroy the world. Oftentimes the same thing. Let me watch a lot of comics in the and a lot of the marvel movies and stuff like that and you'll see that where the hero grew up with a weird screwed up background and he's considered the hero 'cause heats up the quote unquote bad guys and the bad guys have screwed up background as well. In the case of the joker and batman. Jack nicholson in the first batman. He says like you made me. And i made you and he laughs about it because the joker is the one that jokers is the one that ends up killing. His parents and batman is involved in him getting him Falling into that pot of boiling. Whatever the hell that stuff is from what i remember but anyway the the point there is that it's a choice that you get to make and we see this all the time in day to day life where you getting conversation with somebody and turns out Unfortunately their parents were really abusive. And this person that you're having conversation with seems really sweet. And they seem the opposite of that. They seem like they got their shit together. Well this person at some point made a choice. They made a decision. I don't want to be that way. We see this with drug addiction. And a lot of things like that to where it's in the family history and now it's considered to be hereditary well it may be hereditary and. I'm sure there's science backs a lot of that up. But as hereditary as some of these things may be it is still a choice is choice to shove cocaine up your nose. As a choice is a choice to take painkillers. It is a choice. You might be in a lot of pain. And i can understand your pain. I can empathize with your pain. I can understand your pain. But it's a choice that you made and then why are you making the choice. You're probably making the choice because somewhere along the line. You lost your ability to continue to believe in yourself and believe in the core principles that you have towards forging forward towards your goals and to me that is the saddest thing of all being addicted to drugs or messing up. Or you know having some setbacks in your life that are Kind of one hundred percent your own doing to me. That's not that sad but the root cause of it is the kind of giving up on oneself and the lack of self belief the lack of confidence. We are all as powerful as we all are. We're all very fragile. But i think it is really important that people grasp this idea of you are way the fuck stronger than you could ever possibly imagine. You are way stronger. You are way stronger than you think. Developing your belief system is.

But oftentimes, they're not very sustainable. Make changes in people in consciousness. I really appreciate the simplicity what you're saying. Hey, look, you know. Let's let's leverage this I and what you'll see is that there's not a lot of room in your very stated. You're not cutting calories feeling like a failure, you're like what are you doing? Mark Mike gorging on chicken breasts and are boiled eggs, and you're like dude fatty. No one would ever throw that at you. Right I mean and you're stuffed just really remarkable kind of hack here. I think it's just important to to understand that like. Nothing can make you fat except for yourself like you know you. There's some people that maybe have you know some genetic predispositions to being heavier than others and things of that nature, but. For the most part the only thing that can make yourself. You know heavier than you want to be is is your own is your own behavior and I? Think to understand that is really crucial, so that that way you're not ever even even with the knowledge that we have that we don't need as many carbohydrates as we. Previously thought. Even, though we have some knowledge towards move move more eat less type stuff Even though we have this knowledge, it's still a very difficult thing. to overcome all these amazing foods that are around all the time, but. You know there's there's kind of two ways to look at it. You know I I've heard people say well. You know there's so much just amazing, just delicious. unhealthy convenient foods and I'm kind of thinking to myself well. There's the opposite of that, too. There is a lot of I mean there's there's food prep companies I mean. There's all these different to help you track stuff. You know you can wear a heart rate monitor you. Can I mean there's so many different things that you can do in from food perspective we live in you know minus what they're saying about like a meat shortage, or whatever, but we live in. We live in a really good time where we have access. Most people I know have a refrigerator full of food, a freezer full of food pantry full of food, and sometimes even another refrigerator full of food, and so we have. We have a lot of food options. It's just that I think. All our eyes see in all our nose smells are are the you know the pizza and the donuts and a lot of those things and we're not. We're just not paying attention to the fact that There's convenient foods that At our super healthy that are at our disposal. At all times and I like what you said about the pork cheeks because That's you know I I've been doing that for years as well as like sometimes leaving, just throw a protein. Shake out the door. Just because I don't know I don't know what I'm getting myself into. I. Don't know where we're going I. Don't know what foods are going to be there and It's almost like an anxiety. Right like you you're. Not, sure what the situation is GonNa be so you're. You're trying to set yourself up for success so that way you end up eating some some garbage when you go and I. I advise people to do that when they shop. You know I think that you show always eat before you shop, you know. Throw down some protein before you head out because all the sudden. That ben and Jerry's is going to you. Know Talk to you as you as he walked down the aisle, so. You know I think loading up on proteins a a great idea. So that your mentioned about the protein shake lead into hopefully my last question, so we can let you go here in a moment, but can you eat protein powder on the carnival diet and also just to sort of tackled that question? Are you taking any particular supplements on the regular when you're worrying? You Know I. Think it's important for for long-term to not be to dog mattis about anything again. If you WanNa, do something as a challenge. I think that that's great. That's can be fun to get behind that. but like if you like protein shakes to strengthen. I heard a quote. The other day said. You know one thing that troubles people is that when they're hungry? They don't eat and when they're tired. They don't go to sleep. And it's like wow, that's like. If, you think about it, it's. It's not so much that they don't eat It's more about like you're stressing about what to eat where to eat wendy. You know how how much to eat, and then same thing with your sleep. You're like I'm Kinda tired I should probably just lay down, but even if you have an opportunity to you never. Do you know we don't? We don't simplify things enough and I think you know that. I think it's important. It's an important thing to do, and as I was saying you know a little bit earlier about. Not Thinking that like a hydrates going to make you fat or not thinking that Fats GonNa make you fatter, not thinking it's just it's just a matter of. Just a matter of how much how much you eat overall and I think that if you can. figure out ways of kind of skewing. So you eat a lot more protein you end up with some of that protein leveraging I think that you'll find this whole. Nutritional riddle ends up ends up being a lot easier to handle than. Than you probably initially thought. But I just did three.

"Is probably like a week ago. I just felt like eating a sandwich, so I was like that'd be really cool to go to the store over here and make us and get his get just a Deli Sandwich like it'll rock. I'll get it on. They have this like. And freaking amazing so. I was like all right. You can do that, but you gotta eat. Chicken Breasts I. It's it's still extra calories. Okay, it's still extra calories, but but protein protein's Kinda screwed up. Protein opinion shouldn't even count as calories and there's a lot of other people that have been studying this for years and years that would agree with that statement, or at least say that. Maybe it should only count as as one calorie, but. Any anyway. Protein is going to help you an assist. You to eat less overall so even though I ate the chicken breasts and the Sandwich, which is more food. It's. Technically it should be helping me. It should be assisting me not to have cravings later on that night. And that's that's what I'm into. I'm into like the long game, so if I you know. I'm not trying to be fancy I'm just trying to be consistent so wherever I can I try to figure out okay, if I'm GONNA eat that. How can I augment that? How can I change that a little bit? How can I make that more satisfying because we know? Eating peanut butter cups is amazing, but again it's not going to do anything to fill you up, so try to make sure that you're actually full along with being satisfied, sometimes from some of these delicious foods at around. So I have to tell you a story mark. Bell and maybe I've told you this before, but when I. You know this is actually something. Kelly's been doing since probably before I met him. He calls it pre eating You know if you're GONNA go to like a Christmas party where you know all, there's going to you know. The only thing will be served as a cheese played in wine He always got in the habit of what he called pre eating and There was a time actually when George was a little behind its threat. Yeah, they're behind. Is Science George? Was a baby and we were going to a Christmas party staying with. With my mom and you could see Kelly was panicking about his future eating at this Christmas party so my mom actually lived in a place at that time where there was an elevator, so we get all of us pack into the small of R Kelly's holding Georgia's a baby, and literally you know he is pretty big cheeks like a pretty big face, and his cheeks were just full, and I was like what is in your mouth, and he could barely talk because he just stuffed all this leftover pork into his mouth, and he was like having trouble chewing it all because he just pre, and so we've. We've called that pork cheeks ever since. And I don't know we've gotten a lot of lifetime value out of this whole pork cheeks, com concept and I'm sure you can envision Kelly's port cheeks right now. Pork, cheeks. It's called protein leveraging. Look it up. Porch Science Science one of the things you know. We have been sleet. Say All the time you reinforce it. You gotta be consistent before Harare. And you're the best plan is like look. It takes time to make change and changing behaviors the most difficult. Thing.

"An idea of trying to pull out things that maybe you're taking a gap and then carnival in so what's really interesting? You're saying about that. Is An extreme elimination diet that people have really excellent. Here's too. The parameters are good, and then because they had such good success very quickly in terms body competition. Chiefly, White, using this, it's been transformation for some. Yeah, you get a reward from it Almost almost automatically, not automatically, but you gotta reward from it very quickly. And that? You instantly feel better, but again like it's even just the wait. Wait aside. I think that if someone was just give this an actual try and try it for just a handful of days, just three to five days I think you would just learn whether it's for for you or not for you. Maybe you just learn that cutting out a lot of carbohydrates. This was really helpful to you. So then when you go back to your whatever style a diet that you like you can make the adjustments As you as you need them basically. So I mean I know you just said three to five days, but do you think that's a good like? Mount time if someone's listening to this? Sounds Cool I. want to try this like. Do you think three to five days or do you think it's more like challenge like thirty days to really? Get beyond the. Toilet issues and sort of get into some sort of rhythm with it, or do you think you really could see a difference in three to five days I think it's really important ally to yourself. You know when I when I go out on my runs, I. Start Out Walking and then I'm like I'm just GonNa run to that? Stop Sign, and then you know once I get to the stop. Sign I run a little further. And it's encouraging once you have a little bit of success. Once you get that ball rolling so I would say you know. Doing it for three days is probably going to get you started. You know it's just such an easy thing to say to yourself. Okay? I'm going to buy a couple of chunks of meat and I'm GonNa do this for. Three days and it won't upset anyone else in the household like your wife or your husband won't think you're crazy that you're trying something that's going to hurt you because you're only doing it for three days, and you can say look. I just want to try this for a couple of days and see how it feels. Most people that that don't eat very healthy. I think will notice an impact enough to encourage them to say you know what I did it. For three days, I may as well stretch it out for a week. doing it as a challenge and doing it for a whole month. that in work great because. Again. You're giving yourself an X. amount of time to do it, but a month is a long time as When you're addicted to food, and you have trouble with food, you know my my entire family is fat I. Come from a long lineage of people that love to overeat. And when you're addicted to food Ah, day isn't long, but every hour is is is super long like every every opportunity to eat is another opportunity to basically screw up is the way that you look at it when you are addicted to food. Rather than from the other perspective of Hey. Look, this is opportunity to launch myself forward. This is an opportunity. To do a lot better and I think that I think for some people what they might notice is so we did mention that everybody is different, and we did mention that it's important that like if you don't like meat then. There's no reason to really even probably mess with a carnivore diet. Some people really don't like red meat. Some people don't like fattier meats so then you're left with trying to figure out You know you'd have to look into some other options, but we're. We're all. We're all very similar to so I think that's important to understand as much as we are different We are massively the same. We don't need massive massive amounts of provided necessarily right. We don't need massive amount of carbohydrate. We don't need massive amounts of food. You know we just. We just don't. We can probably. People feed their dogs twice a day. You know, and then some you're like well. Why don't you feed him three or four times a day and then like well. My dog will get fat. And so know I think is reminds me of a story. I gave my cat diabetes no feed cat food. Yeah, people should really just try to find a diet that allows them to. Eat Food. Eat a certain amount of food that allows them to maintain a weight. That's reasonable for them. And then so where were all similar is? Is this idea of protein leveraging and there's a guy named Ted Niemann. Talks about it quite a bit He does like Ted talks on it and all kinds of different stuff. protein leveraging is this kind of idea and concept of the more protein you eat, you will You'll eat less calories overall because he There's a belief that in a theory that all living things are always in search of protein, and so while we're rummaging through our cheeses, and while rummaging through cookies and things like that, they have They have massively produced these things they override our Our bodies of to recognize you know when we're full our body's ability like it. Just it's over satisfying. It's It's so overwhelming that you Kinda can't stop his heart. You know they even dare you. Try to eat just one. And things of that nature, but protein doesn't work that way you know you know to chicken breasts and then tell me how hungry you are like. I. I sometimes will use that leverage to my advantage I will. is probably like a week ago. I just felt like eating a sandwich, so I was like that'd be really cool to go to the store over here and make us and get his get just a Deli Sandwich like.

"But I feel like the Carnivore de is kind of like a man Diet. Are there a lot of women that you know that are doing it. That is really offensive. That's. Sensitive I know it's offensive, but. I don't know I. Just I feel like there's something about it that I'm like. Wow, this is like I could see a Lotta dudes getting into the carnivore. Diet or about style of eating your I, don't really know any women are. One hundred percent correct I mean look at how many people do yoga right, and then when you go to Yoga when I go to Yoga I'm the only guy in there. Usually I mean sometimes a couple other guys in there, but it's mainly is mainly women and when you go to Yoga How many people are on the carnivore diet there on the exact opposite diet? Their juicers and their their their Vegan and things of that nature, right? So I think. You know one of the most important things in Kelly being a I mean. This is like the most important thing. Being able to adhere to something is. Massively important and I think one thing that can yeah right like if you're not gonNA. Follow it and it's like. People do that with books all the time. I have a lot of friends that. They tell me all these books that they've read. And I'm just kind of thinking like. And you're. You're not. I don't think you're using any information these books because that's probably the thirtieth book. You told me that you read, and you're not really anywhere, you know. So being able to actually you know, do what somebody suggests and then being able to actually adhere to a diet or fitness program. You have to like it. You know it has to be. It has to be of interest to you I. think that people get so confused about success and. Something that I've seen and learned across the board. When my my dad lost his job at IBM when he was at like year nineteen, he needed one more year and then he's GonNa be able to get a pension and retirement and all those things. And you know he spent every day of his life. You know getting a suit and tie and I just knew it when I was a kid. I was like whatever the heck that is. You know I I. Don't WanNa do that. But what made my dad's super successful? Was the fact that. When he lost his job. IBM downsides downsized and in Poughkeepsie New York. That's where their headquarters was the time. And when that happened. My Dad's is very easily shifted years. Because my dad's always been very interested in finances, he's always been interested in in money. How people can make money how people can save money So he became an accountant, and he also became a real estate agent and didn't a beat I think like I was not even aware that like we didn't have money. I wasn't aware that he will I. I didn't even know he lost his job I. Just I just knew he started working in the basement, and then he turned our basement into A. Into an office and my point here is that. You know if you want to be successful at something it really just. Goes very well with your interest. You know if you find. If you. If you're just let's say you're extremely. You're really ripped. You're really really good shape, but you haven't figured out a way to Mike. monetize that that's just because your interest level lies in being in shape more so than it does in making money you see. This was artist all the time. They their love their passion. They don't care if they need to like sleep in their car. You know I did pro wrestling for a while. These guys will will sleep in their car and the wrestle in front of. Ten twenty. Thirty people don't. How many people are there? It's there are. It's what they love to do. As it's what their interest is and I think a lot of times, people are trying to force interest on themselves. So. I think that's a really important thing. You try a bunch of different things, so you can kind of figure out. The only way you're GONNA learn. Anything is to mess up. A lot of times is the only way you're GONNA learn. Anything is to make errors. That's where all knowledge comes from. All knowledge comes from Eric Correction. So you have to just trial out of stuff, so I've I've tried. Many different diets as I can think of within reason that fit some of my beliefs I. wouldn't I wouldn't try Vegan Diet. Don't have anything against. Anything that other people want to try but I just never felt like it was for me, but I think if you're going to be successful at something, it's just really has to do with the interest level, and if you find yourself wavering, and you find yourself not being able to lose weight well, that just means your interest level isn't high enough in losing weight. You're more interested in continuing to be the same as you were yesterday. It might be like an unpopular truth, but that's.

"But one of the things that I. appreciate is your sort of experimentation. Willingness to also. Look at the truth while you know I'm always because I always say about the great. Can I see your blood panel and I? See your blood work. The truth is in the blood, and that's something. The has shown that her. Your genetics in your history or things that are working for your exercise. It is working. Yeah, I, just I feel really good. You know I was just thinking about it today. It has nothing to do with it. When I was when I was walking today. By the way I am standing and I do have a place to rest my foot to do the. We'll just call it. The Kelly's direct pos rather than the Captain Morgan Puzzles. Exchange it when we should, we should change it. Yeah, the Kelly step. You need a Cape though I think and wait. Mortgage has got hook right and a patch. Yeah. Maybe we should. We should recreate that somehow. Thank you for getting that wheel. Spinning in my mind. I was going to say the the only thing. That bugs me. A little bit is my. Right knee and I've had like tendinitis or something in there. Since I was a kid I used to I used to love the play basketball, even though I wasn't very good at it. And I just stopped playing basketball and the pain away, but now that I'm like running and stuff like that, so the Neil again inflamed here and there, but like I I can do everything I can You know I've I've torn torn packs. A couple of times I've torn tricep torn a BICEP. torn a hamstring torn a hip flexor. I've injured myself many many times over, but I'm still I'm still here and I. I feel amazing. I feel better than I ever have like. I was trying to think a Mike. Do I like legitimately feel better than I'm twenty five or do I just kinda think that I do and I'm trying I'm trying to think about. You know what I felt like when I was twenty five I. Don't know if I feel better than twenty five, but it's certainly feel better than we've than when we first met. You know that that's for sure I. Remember go into a Kelly stret- seminar. And Kelly said something that made me want. Just get up and say bullshit. You said you know human body is. Designed to be pain free and I'm trying to like I'm trying to scour my body. I'm like what's not in pain. I'm like Okay I. Think I think my left forearms, not really in that much pain like no. I was wrong there to four arm by set out thinking everything sore. Everything's Achey, but. I don't feel that way anymore. I do get sore obviously like if I try something new or Different stimulus going on and I have some inflammation I have some limitations on certain things that my like elbow or shoulder one do, or whatever, but I feel awesome you know I can. I can kind of do just about any workout. Someone wanted to go on a trail run. I can go do that if somebody wanted to go. Ride a bike I can do that if somebody wanted to. powerlift I could do that I could bodybuild I could cross fit. I just I feel awesome. I feel really good and I I I think that you know in this time where we got kind of a shutout from our from our gyms, It makes me think of of you guys. It makes me think of people that I've been around. That showed me different exercise other than Ben Squad dead lift thinking of like Jason Khalifa like what a cool thing to have. The skill set of Jason cleared and know how to do these all these different various movements, because it doesn't matter if you have a gym or not. So are there times when you are not doing the carnivore diet I, know I see sometimes on instagram. You're like you do eat a piece of pizza. Is that on some kind of official cycle do six weeks on carnivore and one. We off her. What's your sort of like? How do you do that on a rotational basis? I try I try to kind of pick. You know I just kind of randomly We'll pick certain times to enjoy certain things I know that Andy My wifey. She likes when I you know. She likes when I'll have a glass of wine with her But you know she's. She's made out of something different than I am she can? She can pound that wine every single day and not have any. Any repercussions and wake up at seven in the morning. Go swimming and everything so like I just kind of swimmer yeah. Yeah Yeah She's unbelievable, I just. I don't really have I don't I? Try Not to have a schedule I I've learned you know over the years I I really try to. I've just done some different things that I? Think are a little bit weird, but I've gotten rid of goals like I don't i? Don't have goals, I don't have expectations I have I think. I have more like a to do list. There's certain things that I WANNA do and I. don't even really look at him as much as goals anymore because China I just trying to put that much pressure myself. I know that I'm GONNA. Work out every day I know that I'm GONNA so like I don't even have a workout schedule I. don't try to specifically do Anything really like my goal is to be between like to fifteen to twenty, but I'm not like in some sort of race to do it I. I could way that probably pretty easily within maybe like Twenty thirty days or something like that but. I'm always trying to think about like, and then what you know, so you WANNA get your company to make a hundred million dollars or something like that, but the, but the and then what like what does that? You guys know you guys. You make it somewhere and it doesn't have it's. It's not what you thought. It was in the first place, so if you don't win your fitness or when your diet or when you're. Right right. So I try to. I try to I guess what I'm trying to say is I. Try to just be reasonable with. You know if I feel like doing something, I remember one of my. Relatives they said. Oh I. Forgot you're on that diet. You can't eat that. And I said knock. Actually I can't eat that I. can eat whatever I want I just. I pick and choose like you know when I'm going to do it type thing, and so I think that's a good mentality for people I know a lot of people really struggle with their weight, and that gets to be really difficult at all I would say on that is like. If you can string together. You know five good days and you have one bad day here and there. I think I think that's enough I think that's whatever you're able to handle. You know whatever you're able to handle and if you're able to. If your goal is to lose weight, and you're able to continue to trend. Downward than wait yourself here and there make sure heading not direction and just follow whatever the heck diet you need to to help. Get you there. Well. I think that's interesting in you know one thing I've noticed. Is that Clearly, what works for some people doesn't work for other people and I love that you sort of say, look like this works well for you, and what works for someone else may not work for someone else? which leads me into my next question. which hopefully won't.

"Things like that instead of apples and oranges, and and you kind of maneuver your way through it that way I think. Now just finishing like people get really crazy about it, and they try not to use spices and anything like that, but. I think that using spices in all these different things are totally fine. The truth here is that. The! For most people, and this is not for everybody, but for most people. If you just open up the playbook a little bit, you have a little bit more options. It's just a little nicer. It's just a little easier. It's a little simpler when when you don't have to kind of eat the same thing all the time now what I'll say as a rebuttal to that. Is that If you if you snack then you're not going to be in the mood for the foods that you want and I think that is a really critical thing I may have. I may have texted you guys about doing. I kind of have like a hardboiled egg challenge like I. Know like hard boiled eggs like the best thing in the world but it. You know you are like hot sauce on there or you can. Sell Salt and different spices on there to try to make them halfway exciting, but if you're not hungry for hard, boiled eggs, it just means that you have fake hunger. And hard boiled eggs an example. Maybe you hate them. Maybe you're allergic to eggs. Maybe gotta find something different. But how many times have you left that chicken? Have you left stake in your fridge? Just you know Rah away. Literally Rot Away while you ordered pizza, or why ordered something in probably somewhere in the in the day you probably had. Probably had a snack or something like that I. Know with my kids. You know if they If they snack you know before you know you've heard this all your life. Don't Spoil Your Dinner Kids. you know if you're eating right before you have dinner than you're most likely going to eat a lot less of that portion of meat that you needed, and you're really you're taking up real estate in your taking up really valuable real estate in your stomach, and I think what we ended up seeing. A lot of people have what I've been referring to meet deficiency, because if you have meet in your body if you have. If you have steak can and just various forms of meat. You're going to be filling up various cups You're going to be filling up your cup for your macronutrients. You do not need carbohydrates survive Your your body will produce Shergar on its own. but you do need protein and you need fat, so you're filling up your macro nutrient, Cup, and then you're filling up your micronutrient. If you WANNA, get more into micronutrients, and you can start to eat like liver and heart and spleen, and you can get a little weird with it where you can supplement those things a little bit here and there but but what I found to be the most effective and the reason why I like the Diet first place is the fact that. When I eat meat, I feel very satisfied I don't feel like I really need. A lot of foods now the second that those influences of other foods come in then that's when my mind is racing and thinking about those other foods again, but for the most part most of the time. To be pretty calm and pretty relaxed. Even if my wife and kids are making cookies or brownies, or whatever it just doesn't. It doesn't bother me the way that the way that it used to. And so that's how I kinda landed on this diet and. I'll be messing with it probably the rest of my life. One the things that is remarkable is your transmission to bottom i. said I have known you at a very very strong human. Sicker self we had we had. We had more necklace. But now you know if we just didn't cut you in half. Count The rings. Your confirmation and also the sustainability this.

"The carnivore. Diet, and you're getting down to to sixty. You will have lost a lot of strength most likely if you're a good powerlifter I. If you're not powerlifting than on anything's possible, you could lose weight and gain strength really because you're so new to everything, but for the most part what. What you're going to notice is that if you lose a significant amount of weight in most cases you're going to lose some strength. You'll lose some leverage. Is You know things just won't feel the same anymore and so you'll just have to make adjustments, but I think what you have to put first and foremost is. What is the goal like what is the? What is the immediate goal? What's the ultimate goal you know for me? I wanted to squad eleven hundred I wanted to bench nine hundred pounds, but after falling with thousand eighty five I was like all right well, I should probably shift gears and looking at doing something differently. You know not necessarily do something different completely, not necessarily just bow out of the sport, but do it in a different way, and that's when I immediately started to. I was like I can't move. I can't do anything I couldn't do anything for about three months after I fell without weight and so I was like well. There are things I can do. I just can't powerlift at the moment, so I decided to walk in. In is too. That's when I started to walk. I started to eat better and You know people ask a often. How long did it take you to lose the weight and I always tell them it took me like ten years, but the truth of it is is that I'm still working on like I work on every day every day. I want to eat pizza every day I want to sit on the couch every day, I still have all these urges. All those demons are still I still have these desires at call to me multiple times a day like let's just fucking eat a donut. Let's eat a cookie. Let's go. Let's go eat something delicious. You know, but. The desire to be in shape and the desire to stay strong reigns supreme and so. I that balances out well enough because I know I. AM In favor of the benefits rather than What eating doughnuts going to give me? So. That is a great segue into asking you. What is the carnivore diet and it seems like just based on knowing you as a friend that you've been doing this for a year or maybe eighteen months or something How did you first discover it? And what is it for people who've never heard of it? I've been doing the carnivore diet for. Probably, about three years, or so not three or straight a shift around, and and move around and do some different things here and there like at the moment I eat. Some potatoes ate some rice, aid, some vegetables, sites and fruit. And people really lose their mind over that I guess. I should explain this is that in my opinion? There's a difference between a challenge and a specific style of of Diet, so I think that it's safe to do. I should say any diet, but it's. It's safe to do most diets for a month. It's safe to do not diet safe to do most challenges for a month. If you were to say you know I'm not getting any carbohydrates for month i. that's totally fine. It's totally. Totally? Fine Experiment I think to say I'm only going to eat meat for a month I think that makes sense, and so I found out about the carnivore diet. The Carnivore challenged through Dr Sean Baker who started about three years ago in every year. It's in January which I think is brilliant, because a lot of people are gaining weight from from Halloween on through Thanksgiving through Christmas and so on, and they have got some weight to lose. Issuing that challenge at that time is perfect timing. What the Carnivore Diet is! Or the Carnival Challenge I should point out is that it's mainly just it's meet its eggs. Bone broth butter, and then like that's that's where it Kinda end salt. there's no macos. There's no fruit. There's no vegetables. There is no and it's with the intention of not eating fruit and vegetables. It's not like. Hey. You can still throw him in once in awhile it's in. It's with the intent of. Don't eat them at all. Because you're trying to see how your body reacts to that, you're trying to see Will this be a positive for your body will be a negative, and you can see it with your behavior in the bathroom. You can see it with your sleep. you'll it'll. It'll show up kind of everywhere, and you'll know pretty quickly. whether it's you know being effective or not, but to try it. It out for month is something. I really strongly urged people to do, and and even just even just do it for like three days. I think he'd be. I think you'd be shocked and surprised at how you felt. After three days now there is consequences to trying a diet like this. You'll have a massive shift in the amount of water that's in your system and a lot of that ends up in the toilet so. getting rid of that those bulk fibers and things like that this is some of the theories and hypothesis. They have about why people end up shifting their brains out when they do a carnivore diet for for a period of time, some people might. You might get constipated as well like. Anytime you change any diet. you know people get all up in arms about their poop. They all the all stressed out about their poop. It's like the first question's always about about the bathroom, but. anytime change your diet. Your bathroom you know trips to the bathroom are going to change it, so it's not a carnivore diet now what I think a carnivore diet is beyond just doing challenge and I think something. That's a little bit more rational something. It makes a little bit more sense I think is probably landing on what we've been talking about forever, and that's a lot of the discoveries of someone like Rob Wolf. where he started mix in some other things, and if you still didn't WanNa, really mix in Carbohydrates or sugars, then you could be careful with the type of vegetables that you eat. You could be careful with the types of fruit that you choose. You can choose a olives and Avocados and.

"Strengths. What's not like you haven't? Been around attrition in Diet and I think one of the things that people forget about in strength sports is there is often a weight class or weight restriction where people are having to eat to gain weight, which is actually very difficult, actually, and if you've ever had to gain weight, it's. It's worse than dieting I think. Only That's GONNA. Blow People's minds. You also had the. There's no way that's possibly. It's it's it's terrible, and you've also had to lean down, and even recently, which is really amazing. I think one of the few people have known who. is a world champion powerlifter in his squad over thousand benched nine, hundred and then today. Bodybuilding show where your body fat was three percents will very tan. So. I guess what I'm saying. Is You always been your own experiments for as long as I've known you and I've known you over a decade now. It's been really amazing I'm you and your? What Three Hundred Eight House hundred twelve? Yeah. The heaviest cyber was was three hundred and thirty pounds, and I think you bring up a good point. Is that you know I was I was doing it for a purpose, but you can also. You, know in in my effort to do it. For a purpose I turned into a porpoise. I think. I think you can. You can overdo it. And you've seen this with with all the athletes if you helped over the years You know the athlete just wants so desperately to make that thing happen they. They want to do it so badly, and that's kind of what happened to me. I got to about two seventy to eighty and That was a good amount of weight for me at. Around six foot three. Around for around five eleven five ten. WHATEVER THE HECK I am! At the height that I'm at that. That weight was plenty and I just didn't recognize that I just wanted more and more wanted to keep lifting more, and really all the happen is like probably compromise my health more and. Just got fatter, but you don't. You don't know unless you unless you try, and so you know you have to. You have to go to one extreme to kind of find even where the the middle ground is so i. just you know me and Jessie verdict. Devised a plan to you know, continue to gain weight and one of the key factors was to really just kind of let loose later on in the day, so most of our day would be. Very, I'd say just like normal like not not anything crazy nutrition wise just trying to make sure that we're eating protein with every meal but we could have you know eggs and Bacon and some toast in the morning afternoon could be like a Burrito. Dinner could be you know steak veggies a potato, but then after that you know where you can. Really you know Kinda get after it had like ice cream, or maybe even throughout the day eating a little bit of stupid stuff like Doritos and things like that, because doritos are of the Magical Unicorn of gaining gaining a lot of size, but a weird thing about it is that that blow that you might feel after eating like a baked, thanksgiving dinner or something like that that is like super advantageous to powerlifting. It feels really good to have that extra body weight on you. HOW THE EXTRA MASS! The extra mass helps you to move more Maso. That's what I was involved in for. A. Short period of time I was only like that for about five years, but that's what everyone remembers me for. One of the things I just want people to here and there is, it seems very extreme. I met Jessie Verdict. Who just references another coach mutual friend? He was two hundred twenty pounds. He just walked down to twenty pounds in the same year. You and he had a device of plan where he was up three hundred eight pounds, put on over one hundred pounds a year to lift and having a leap powerful. But in that is this concept of eating for specific reason for performance in? The same way we see. A lot of our friends struggle with relative interest, deficiency syndrome, or they don't eat enough and their runners cyclists young women growing in. The. It's always easy to flirt with tradition in have impact your health on one end. Is this reds? Syndrome melted VINCI's called Trabelsi. Cold stress fractures in Monrovia. The other side. We had strength that. We need to eat more for our sport at actually was an advantage to lifting more weights, but there's definitely we don't talk about underside that there is a health detriment essentially. You are flirting with a very short game. It wasn't until I. Got Around you where where we started having some conversation and. We ended up speaking the same language, but coming from completely different. Backgrounds but One thing that you mentioned to me was well. Yeah, okay well. You got to that eating that way, but. I just wonder like how far you can push it, and that was something I just. I didn't really think about it. It's it's very difficult to gain a lot of weight and to hold onto a lot of weight without any junk food, but you just brought up a good point. You're like you know I just wonder like if you could recover from your workouts faster, and that's what really got my wheels spinning where I was like. Yeah, you know he he's got a good point. And so from there you know after I did some of the bigger lifts and stuff. I started to move into doing more of Paleo style. Diet and my strength went. Went down quite a bit, but what people don't understand about that part is that is only because I lost large amount of weight. If I would have continued to to stay heavier, what what I think would would have happened because I've had it happen in different weight classes. Is You end up staying at the same bodyweight for a while? Your body gets used to that new way you start to get leaner. You just get leaner kind of a almost without doing anything. You're just on the same diet for awhile, and you're expanding a lot of energy and. Next thing you know you're. You're continuing to get a little bit leaner. You know month by month year by year it's slow slow process, but I did get weaker from removing a lot of carbohydrates and moving a lot of junk, but what I always point out whether it's Kito with. It's Karna work. People always ask. Can you be strong on carnivore? It just it really depends like if you're a big powerlifter, anyway three hundred pounds, and you try.

So we're here? Our entire season is dedicated to sort of demystifying these various nutrition strategies that people employees. And you obviously are a fan of and follow the Carnivore Diet, but before we start talking about that. Can you try to sum up Mark Bell's pre carnivore diet life. In a short paragraph. I've been kind of off diets for a long time since I've learned about like body, building and building muscle and the importance of protein, but Also I got an A. powerlifting. The culture of powerlifting that I was round. The subset of people I was around. Really, no one cared about their nutrition at all they just they had no, they had really no regard to it whatsoever and after. Seeing you know superstrong dude after superstrong dude after superstrong. You know break all these world records and hit all these weights that they wanted to hit. I kinda joined in on the party, but luckily for me, because I have always been on kind of a meat based Diet. I still at least had some protein in there to to maintain some muscle mass, and I've I've always felt like the look is important, even even if you end up with a lot of excess body fat on top top of Muscle I always thought it was important to try to maintain as much muscle mass, so even as fat as bloated as I got It never got like never got sloppy I would say the fattest part of me was my face. But I was lucky enough to kind of keep everything together enough to where you now down a hundred pounds and I don't have any loose skin or anything like that and I think it's because I tried desperately at that time to really try to keep that muscle mass on. Were there for those of you, don't mark? Your world champion however. You have been yet another pro-life a wrestler. You. Really just been a voice strength athletes for a long time. In fact, your magazine was one of the few magazines dedicated to all things.

"Bell on the episode today? Listen it's brought to you by Max. Effort MUSCLE DOT com. You're listening to the business and biceps network and check this out. If it's trash turn it off but if you find value you'd better share it out for US Mark Bell what's up. It's going good man out here in Columbus Ohio and We're out here at this. Messed UP ARNOLD CLASSIC I Guess Shit. Listen on daily fire. We bring one topic bring value. Punch him in the face. What happens Mark Bell when no one believes in the thing that you believe in because I think this happens a lot so give them advice whether it's slingshot whether it's other products? How did you force that force? The you force things forward and say fuck it. I'm just going to go win man so I think first things first is There's been no one in the history of the world has never been one person on this planet to ever have a message that has been interpreted the way that it was meant to be interpreted so you should just stop and realize that you are not going to be able to convince people you'll be able to make some people believers if you believe in something and you feel that it's going to be good you feel. It provides value to other people You feel that You feel you feel that it's going to enhance people's lives in some way it could just be in a small way. You know for me with the slingshot. It you've been around the game for a long time and being around the fitness industry for a long time. How many older lifters said a man used to do that and I wish I could still bench like you guys are still wish I could. Do you know push ups or dibs but man. I you know my shoulder. I kept hearing that over and over and I never understood it. I was like what is with these guys. Why are they all falling apart? You know because when I'm in my twenties and thirties and stuff I'm like I'm rocking it. You know I'm smashing weights and all that ever happened to me from going to the gym. I just I always got stronger. There was never any negative feedback every once in a while I get a little bumper. Bruce here and there but never any big injuries until I started really pushing the envelope and as I got a little older I started to get some injuries and now I'm like Oh my God remember all those old dudes you made fun of you know the guy at the gym that always rest like twenty minutes in between every sat and talked to every girl in the voicemail phones. Yeah the all the old guy with the towel around his shoulder there. You know you'd see that all the time at every Jim and I was like man. I I don't understand why those guys are like that but I started ending up that way and then I was like well. What if I could provide something that would allow these older people these Not even older people but just people have been lifting for a long time. People that are trying to push the envelope. I'm like what if I could make something. That would help me because now I'm in the same spot that they're in Maybe it would be something that would provide value to the to a market that at that didn't even exist and so that was the hardest part for me Even getting like getting a patent for the slingshot and then getting the patent here the United States getting it like imported even amongst like getting it Putting it putting a name to it for have shipped here and stuff like that was weird and confusing because it's not a supplement. Yeah and it's not a. It's not a piece of weightlifting equipment and ended up yet ended up in its own category and stuff and my when my wife my wife handles all the back end stuff the of our company so when she was kind of telling me that I was like. Wow that's really cool but yeah no one in the beginning Believed that there really wasn't anyone wasn't you know not my wife not my not my kids Not that they. It's not that they were negative. They certainly were negative. My wife was always very supportive of it But the only way people are going to believe if you shown you gotta show him and that and that will make people believers but you know something that I developed from Coaching and working with a lot of high school kids. I I would try to. I try to have the whole team. You know lift the same way And then I kinda recognize tickets. Step back one day and I said you know what there's only at all the people in here that play football. There's only like five football players. There's only like five real players in here. It's only five real people that Have enough interest in football to want to get better through to get better for it through lifting weights and through doing the running through doing and conditioning and stuff. The rest of them are just Kinda here because they want to be here and I recognize that I couldn't really make them do anything. I could put them through stuff. I can have them have some fun with some stuff. I can expose them to some stuff but I couldn't really change their minds. I wasn't going to be able to just forcefully changed their mind. You're not going to be able to really do that so when I recognize that I made a speech one day and I basically just told everybody I said you know what I. I'm only going to communicate with people in here. That are sweating. You're not sweating then. I'm not having conversations with these. Your and stepped up the game like a ton. I continued coaching there for two years and during that two years whenever I mentioned that there was a huge boost. Morale you see kids Working hard because no one wants to be like isolated and I and I even when I was saying that I've said hey look you know it's not just coming from me. I want coming from you guys too because if you're working hard it's not fair that the other guys not working hard. We are all part of a team. And you're allowed to be on this team and you're allowed to beyond the team in whatever fashion that you want. But everyone needs to put in their work and so even if you're a little weaker than the other guy or whatever I still wanNA see everybody trying WANNA everybody supporting each other. The Best. That they possibly. Can you use that? You understood their support but probably not the ultimate belief as a chip on your shoulder. Mark like how most lifters like all year. No I got this like did you fuel you. Yeah you know it's it's made up you know it's No one really cares. No-one Eddie Hall is just telling us about how no one thought he could dead. Lift eleven hundred pounds and the truth is no one actually cares. Yeah there's a very small subset of people care that care and and if you ask people on the street hey we'll eddie hall dead. Lift eleven hundred pounds. There's probably a lot of people say well. What does he left now and said hey does like a thousand something they probably you have. No idea probably like Syria. I guess they don't really give a shit right and Put Too much self-importance. Oh God yeah like When I say nobody believed in a slingshot just like a small subset of people that were around me and then even in putting the device out there as you know All He's another guy with supplements man. Yeah you know in in the game for a long time. I competed competed in bodybuilding and competed in powerlifting. And this is a culmination of a lot of work that you did. It's a culmination of something that you feel works. Great for you and you're like hey sometimes summit games. A little complicated. I know it inside now. I'm going to provide you with something I really truly believe in. If you WANNA get it I sell it. You know that kind of thing. Same you're answering in need of something. You just continued to see. Mark wasn't available. So it's like you believed in it because you kept seeing that guy at the gym the way. I feel this old guy that so at the end of the day that's where the spots at and then because no one is blazed that path. You're going to have resistance of people that don't believe so. I think people get real uncomfortable in those spots. Because then their confidence starts to pull back the Will maybe maybe they're right? I had those moments self I mean. Self-doubt is always going to be there. The CR- creeps in it creeps in for sure. And when you're told something they don't think something's GonNa work or somebody doesn't understand it Over and over again. But it's your job to try to help people understand it you know. Are you trying to really communicate at the best you possibly can and as a father and a husband and as a business owner? I mean communication is king. You know they say. The biggest mistake with communication is thinking. That ever happened to really make sure that you're very clear with somebody. When things get messed up at work things get messed up in my life. I'm always like Shit. I really get. I can get really frustrated but I'm like my frustration is about myself. Yeah I'm like fuck. I'm so mad at myself. How did I let this happen again? And when I look back at it it's like what didn't really communicate exactly what I wanted. I was kind of wishy washy on it or is it. Hey just make this look good night just make this thing cool and then their version of cool when my version of two different? But I don't understand how they're so wack and how they're so off but that's another topic for another day. We appreciate you coming on. Mark Daily Fire episode fourteen. No one believes because they actually don't fucking care then you have to care that's right you have to care and it has to be you know somebody just WANNA share out before we sign off yours.
