"Keep an eye on the betting markets. You know c. Which pitcher taking money c. Which pitchers aren't let the quote crowd. Be your guide. You're not as comfortable with studying the analytics. The same pitchers get bet on pretty regularly. The same pitchers get bet against pretty regularly teams. Get bet on it home different than they do on the road. Watch the betting markets. Let them be a guide to kind of show you the things that you wanna pay attention to the things that are really important so you can get out there and maybe get some closing line value or at a minimum. Find some teams in some pitchers that you want back. you know. it's it's just as important to win a bet as it is to not lose a bet. So if you're able to be out there looking at the markets and seeing where money's coming in and getting an understanding for all of that it's really really important for you and finally maybe saving the best for last year. You've gotta shop around for the best prices. You've gotta try and get the best of the number that you possibly can a lot of people that are out there standing up on soapbox in this business and all of that will sit there and tell you all you've got to get the best number. You're not getting the best number a few people in the world get the best number. Get the best number that you can when you're able to do your research. Look at the market and feel confident in your play. Don't get the worst of the number. Just get the best of the number that you can also be sure to have that ability to shop around for the best prices yet can be tough to keep everything organized to have multiple accounts at different sports books. And all of that. But it's really important. The difference between minus one ten and minus one twenty is a winning bet on one side of every hundred place. And if you carry that over through your gambling career you're gonna find. It really does help your bottom line to be able to shop around for the best prices. It is critically important to do that. So make sure you get in the habit of doing that. Not just with baseball. Both all sports get the best of the number that you can and make sure that you're shopping around to be able to get the best of the number that you can down the line segment here. We'll talk about some line moves that have happened throughout the week. This week spent a little bit of a mess. The trade deadline rainouts doubleheaders. Postponements ovid all kinds of stuff going on around the major league baseball landscape but some line moves that we have seen here on tuesday. We saw phillies. Money on. Matt moore against eric feddie now the nationals did win this game but matt moore had been bet against four starts in a row to see him. Taking money is again. Something that i think is a really big tell out there in the marketplace and like i said the phillies didn't win this game but if nothing else it says a lot about eric fatty going forward and eric. Fatty is a guy that i tried to fade a lot. Here on talk shows on a guy will try to fade a lot as we go forward here as well but again you look for those context clues out there that really do kinda stand out to you like for example. The giants taking money on tuesday with logan web against julio and the dodgers. It seems like it's starting to set in now that the giants are pretty much every bit as good as the dodgers and so we've seen over the last couple of series here you know. We saw some underdog bunny. Hit the board on the giants couple times last week. We're seeing it here this week as well. The markets are finally starting to realize that the giants are on par with the dodgers. And that's something that we've kind of been screaming about here on the show and i've been talking about on other shows for a while so get it's important to read those context clues in the betting market. Even if you don't have a bet on that game you were going to find information based on how that game was back and those are things that can help you get a winner down the road or a minimum. Save you from picking up a losing ticket. The yankees took some money with jordan. Montgomery against shane mcclanahan on tuesday. That was a winner for them. Yankees also took some money out of wednesday. That was nestor. Cortez and michael waka and then today raise money. So we've seen a lot of yankees support out there in the markets today they get garrett cole on the mound and we get tampa bay money and again. I think those are really big things for you sir. Putting together this profile of how teams are being viewed in the market or how certain pitchers are being viewed in the market and obviously with the spin rate decrease. The substance crack dumb. We know this already. But garrett cole is not being viewed in high regard as he was previously these are things you can pick up. If you're following along with the betting markets. For example tigers. Money came on tuesday. Tigers played great. Come out of the break. Kind of stub their toe little bit struggled but people don't wanna bet the twins as minus two hundred favorite you'll so we saw tigers money on there and it did come through in the tigers. Did win that. One with tyler alexander. They're against kenta data but also what that line tells us is. That oddsmakers heavy very high view of ken. Majeida who doesn't have great full season numbers but has been better here of late so again just filed these things away and remember them because they will help you down the line tuesday we saw very heavy lance mccullers money and that was even before the trade of kendall grave that really through seattle for a loop so big money against chris flexing. The astros did win that game. Eight to six probably should have played that one with the mariners kinda thrown all sorts there but that was one of the big lie move on mccullers against flexing and the mariners. We saw adam wainwright money on tuesday on the road by you against the indians and cal. Cointreau wainwright those big home road splits. Then he takes money in. That game speaks to the low projection indians. Here as we go forward. Chris paddock took some money on tuesday. That was for the padres against james cappelli and and the as but then on wednesday we saw sean maniaci money hit the board for the as against blake snell so the market right on both of those games as the padres took money and one on tuesday as took money at one on wednesday. What that says about wednesday is i think it was partially by on sean mnaya. Who has pitched really well but it was more of a cell of blake. Snow blake's snell market. Confidence is really low on that guy. I remember when everybody's skewered the tampa bay rays for trading blake snell pointing to the world series and the raise being cheap and all of that they knew man. They knew that they couldn't really trust snell. They had concerns about the medicals and all of that kind of finding that out the hard way and right now this padres team they should probably pick up another starting pitcher or some bullpen reinforcements. Because you know they've gotten a lot of starts fewer than five innings here throughout the course of the season. So that's something that they definitely need to try to take a little bit of a look at here in terms of what they do going forward. Lastly here very heavy fate of garrett richards once again on wednesday that was robbie ray for the blue jays bluejays when that one four. Two one red sox win the nightcap. Tanner hulk against stephen matt's but another fate of garrett richards if you wanna fade garrett richards do it early because that line is definitely going to take off. Got some red steam here with kris bryant. Anthony rizzo out of the lineup for the cubs. Not a big surprise played. Louis castio you read about that over. Ats dot io. But but time. I get this show out. It'll be almost first pitch for that. Reds and cubs game. The brewers are taking money tonight. That's freddy peralta against chad. Cool and the pirates took the brewers run line. That's a play for tonight. In the minus one twenty range a brewers should win that game comfortably. The pirates pathetic. Offensively with adam frazier. Now they don't even have him. So that's a spot. Where i went ahead and laid that one line price with the milwaukee brewers as i mentioned the fate of garrett cole tonight pretty interesting line move there. Carlos rodion taking money against the kansas city royals and another takeaway for you to remember from this show. Aces are typically steamed up. Fifteen to twenty cents. You know so. Johnson ace playing a bad team a bad starter. That's one that jumped up pretty quickly here on the overnights. Lastly for thursday red sox taking a little bit of money here. That's hundred review and wardell rodriguez in that one and reused giving up a lot of hard contact this year. The red sox were almost a play for me deciding to stay off of it. Lines gone up a little bit now into the minus one twenty five range but red sox taking some money. There within wordell rodriguez a big positive russian candidate on the mound so we can preview here obviously the trade deadline..

garrett cole giants dodgers eric feddie eric fatty yankees phillies blake snell garrett richards shane mcclanahan michael waka baseball Matt moore matt moore padres tyler alexander Majeida lance mccullers chris flexing tigers

"Monday morning. June fourteen twenty twenty one. He is kristin happy. Cocker off kyle. Soppe produces the researches. And i am merely eric care about driving today's bus. Then i suppose the fantasy focus baseball. That's what the show is is presented by lincoln jobs. Justin how are you from rome. Murderer growth boss right off the highway and apparently now think of that simpsons episode. That was the weird simpson's where doing futurama and they couldn't write endings to shows. I never could get into the simpsons that other show family guy. I was into that for a while. You got me into that so have you. I don't really watch it anymore. But simpson's i never really kinda got into and now i don't watch anything on television literally anything except sports i had to kind of get into simpson's between ninety two ninety four. That would have been the prime time for it. I was like two years before. Kyle was born eight then so i don't know what you're talking about and kyle was yeah twinkling someone all right. Let's move on. I don't know what you wanna talk about today. We didn't really discuss this free show so You know whatever you like. What's on your mind today truth. Who is who. Would you like to discuss today. Fantasy baseball leagues. Are you doing in your star that because you know like everybody cares about this for some reason. Why are you doing okay. It's a complete mixed bag. I'm outta last place and labor labor ale. I'm in labor l. That's the catastrophe. Injury team with mike. Trout jimenez. And listen other guy. forget who it was. Oh on corey. Kluber is one of my pitchers but yeah it's it's still a little better now. Moving up the standings. I'm in the middle. Tout tout touted. Kind of clustered together and tout. Nl this the twelfth doing great my home. legs leering my points league. I am second in my nfl. Only i third and my al only three points back so you know. It's a mixed bag like i said. Do you have a lot of players in the same teams or did you kinda mix it up because we always talk about that in preseason like if you have trial eight teams and then he goes out for three months and you lose them on a team. So did you do a good job mixing and matching players. Or i've got like cow hendrix everywhere. And now it's okay and i m davies and a lot of places and now it's okay you know these are deeper leagues knottiest painting. But like what did you do with that. I actually spread around. And i didn't do it deliberately. It's where the values felt. I've got a lot of trent grisham. Trent grisham was a guy that i was very big on an got him almost every situation. I have more dominic smith and you would think i do Considering discussion the preseason people in my legs were very down on him and you know it's not like he's done an awful lot for them far this season but i just ended up with a lot of shares. And i think he's gonna improve down the road. Good amount of joe. Moss growth microbe. I've got a good number of shares. Freddie peralta probably the guy in most of the most teams freddie peralta was my guy. You knew that in the preseason and that's gone very well. How many leaves the byron buxton anti-albanian. So i let byron. Buxton go my caper league after all those years at a low price of let them go pick them up so and he's been complaining about him ever since single sheriff byron buxton. Who's the other one and my eight So they're both coming back this week for the twins who obviously not winning the world series as i predicted but i'm wondering your thoughts getting seattle in texas if he stays healthy seattle today and buxton should've come off the angeles today or tomorrow and also they're going to get back amax kepler and louis arise so. The cavalry is coming from minnesota. It might be too late to get them to a five hundred record but it might not be washington. Did it a couple of years ago. But i think it's interesting like what you see of the twins right now. Everybody's talking about nick cord the cord lining play this week. Like it's all about buxton my ada. If you had buxton on a team right now would you try to trade him away before he returns knowing i say knowing but i dunno knowing most likely he's not going to avoid another injury or injured list into the rest of the season. Or would you say oh. I can't wait to get him back. He's going to be awesome. Saved my team. He and my what do you do here. I lean towards trade with buxton mobile address. Him i I don't think you're going to be able to do it today until the player comes back and does something meaningful shows that he's performing at the high level that he was at before the injured list. And i don't think you're gonna get a trade partner so what i'll say to those people have. Buxton is iffy is activated for the monday game. It's a lot of lefthanded pitching. They're gonna face a lot of week pitching they're gonna face Thin bullpens texas with the kennedy injury. They're bullpens a little bit up in the air to roles. I think he could start pretty hot. So in other words i would. I would lean towards activating him today. Maybe not in the most shallow legs. But i wouldn't in most cases and the minute he starts getting hot i would. I would deal him away. I think you'd probably agree with that. I just don't like dealing with a headache. I mean he's a player who does time consistently. Maybe it's because of you know the whole all out playing center field. I don't know but it's just. It's kind of his wrath. Is it a negative connotation though to say like you have to trade him before he gets hurt again or is it just realistic with him. It's simply realistic. I'm not trying to be the pessimists that next week. He's going to be back on the injured list. That's not the point point. Is that a player like this builds the perception over the first month of the remember what he did in april over that first month. He is a parental potential. Mvp candidate and we get too excited and we heard it every year. I have probably fueled much of that as anybody out there in the industry and i've given up the guy who he is. He can't stay healthy. That's the simple fact minner majeida. We should probably talk a little ear. The only concern. I have about my eight of this week. It's an at seattle and that texas matchup so those are two very favorable. Matchup is does he perform at one hundred percent and does he have a limited pitch count. I wanted him to start without a doubt this week. I think he's a very good start option. I would agree with that This is a big week for minnesota and we will see what happens with that. I'm looking at the most of droplets. I don't see anything. We wanna talk about patrick wisdom who got cold. Predictably is leading. The most added not a big weekend frame revealed dez. There's speculation houston when they jacuzzis pitching in relief of mccullers is today or tomorrow tomorrow. as the luiz garcia investor. I do not want to see him. Bump to the bullpen allah christian havi air. But that may happen soon. Which would stink. But you know what are you gonna do. What did i can't imagine. Luiz garcia is being pushed the bullpen. He's pitched so well. This season not really hasn't basically..

"Here team mehta They're a they're a junior team the skip and the third from team majeida They were on the Twenty twenty youth olympic games team for japan. Which i believe finished second. They had a really strong showing At the youth olympic games. I believe but he's he's eighteen and he's skipping in his first japanese men's championship. So are there any other championships coming up now. There was the scottish elite and it looks like On bbc so actually got curling on tv here. And it was bruce. Morton team won the men's side and even your team on the women's side not they did. It wasn't genetic however it's gonna be there. They're still going to send bruce mallet and eve muirhead two worlds. There's no way that they're not honestly. Yeah no that's a separate conversation. I mean i mean it's quite lit joined scottish curling najer but then facebook. I think that's who's going to the world. If there is a world and be those are in all likelihood your olympic teams. I think based. I mean if you actually want to get deep into the weeds of scottish of scottish british curling. There's a policy selection document up on the british curling website that lays out the criteria for national team selection and team. Your heads kind of really far ahead on all the different criteria. It's basically between patterson mullet. But i think more what's For the men's side but mo- it's got the guts the the edge there for sure. Yeah i mean. He won all of these little tournaments that they did each month at the training center. So i mean it. It's it pretty much has to be him. The most interesting thing to come out of that is actually think that that roused whites your number two team in scotland now. I think that he's kind of leapt. Over patterson in terms of abilities. I think so i mean. I was kind of on the ross white bandwagon last year..

"Completely connected there for you. You probably i think he's one of the hardest actors. The hardest working. After i've ever seen he's so disciplines and and kind i mean he's just he's he's how everyone should be when you go into work so what was great about. I feel fortunate that i had such a close relationship with them on the show. Because like i said. I just got to soak up knowledge and experience by just being seen with him and he's completely right there. You feel like you can do anything so i you know. You're only as good as your scene partner. I mean that's what they say actors. And i think that if anything that i did played well. It was a lot to do with who was opposite. So he's she enjoyed her experience with jerry ryan on the show. I told jerry when she showed up become really close friends with her. And said you don't understand your awesome. She's like yeah hero. Whatever and she goes because he's awesome. I mean it just every single tiny just catch it. I mean she was like everybody gets blown away by him uses. He's yeah he's a great guy. She is definitely enjoying julius journey. So far what. I love about what the writers gave me. what they set up with. this character. is there so much for her to uncover. And it's it's really fascinating the story that they've built in the characters surrounding her. But you know a lot's been taken from her Lots happened to her in this last less than two weeks. thirteen days. and so there's gonna be a lot of There's going to be a lot of things that she needs to figure out to figure out where her places in the world. Now you know which is very different now. So so what does she does she do. How does she how does she. How does she doesn't put herself in this world now so i think so. I think there's going to be a lot of things that she'll keep. Uncovering this is interesting. How an actor figures out her character and the characters relationships in my opinion And and here's the thing sometimes when you're shooting with tv how they give you these scripts right before you start shooting. Sometimes you figure out something about a character or relationship in the scene. I mean even even when i was doing episode too i remember. I had all these questions about my relationship to allen. What was the problem. What was the issue and we tried this. One scene Where i'm by myself in the airlock kind of panicked about what's just happened. It was right before we get attacked the shower and he comes in and i kinda covered everything up and just started talking to him and i discovered that in the scene that i think he just was never quite there for me like that so that helped me just because we were shooting that. That's just what came out and helped me figure out. Oh maybe that was a piece of our relationship. Because you're you're learning things as you go. So i think that in the moments you just start to to figure something out and you hope it place and you work together with your directors and you're you know and they all seem to know more ahead than we typically do So we'll see. We'll see the writers. Keep it close to the cuff. Like they did last season. Because sometimes it's like please shooting tomorrow can i. Can i have some pages or what do you think that's going to happen here. But it's always a surprise and And you just going to have to go with the flow and be spontaneous. Play with it thank you. Thank you very much series. Show runner steven majeida joins us next. He tells us about the new. Cdc character and who else might be coming up season. Two are challenged. I think in every season is to come up with new fund. Scary stuff to see But we are. I don't know flip. It's been mentioned by other panels but we are reinventing the season a little bit this year. Not as much on the scale of in american horror story where they completely changed everything and recast but we are bringing a bunch of are characterised situations into a new environment to a new location. I don't wanna say right now. Although i've heard that it's been being bandied about a little bit but we're going to a new place and part of the what we always talked about at. The beginning of the show was Seasons to be able to to not have to stay in place which is why we forced our hand by blowing up the base at the end of last season. So we don't wanna go back there. It was it would be hard to sustain so our idea is that we're taking the time trump time has passed and we're getting into a new scenario and a new place There's there will be a new pathogen. He will not abandon the narvik. It is there but we're going to be dealing with. Were kind of resetting table a little bit and then bringing our folks into it hopefully in really good and surprising ways. Is it related to the original package. There was a lot of things that are related. Certainly the motivations for it are related. But we have a new take on things that i think will Be cool surprising and in your new environment is that life liberating in a way but challenging to it is but but it's we've we have a great location that i'm very excited about and so that is the best part of this is last year because we shooting montreal for the arctic. We had to every time we look out a window. It was shot with some visual effects. Which look very good. I thought and then every time we went outside we had soap bubbles blowing around snow and the green screen and we couldn't really see too far because we weren't. We were in montreal in the summer. And so we couldn't play those those great fargo snow since we didn't have them and so for us being able to walk outside and shoot me to look out a window at see something really cool. I'm just in heaven right. Because i just saw the first camera tests from the location. I'm just like oh thank god. It's a big location. There's just a lot of cool stuff and it's awesome so really looking forward to that. There's a new person. The cdc that that is coming in. Who will have his own kind of interesting backstory. And we're casting that right now. We don't know who who exactly it is yet. I wish we could announced but we don't know we'll also have a bunch of new characters because we're in the in this new location we're going to have a whole slew of new people that will meet And a really interesting. Take i think that Ron i talked about with the network very early on and said hey. Wouldn't it be cool. If you know we pitch this idea to them of going to this this place and the people they would meet their and what was going on how we get into it and it'll feel i think you recognize the tone of the show. I think you'll recognize the certainly the characters but it'll feel like wait to see this. Is he looks right. Because there's no snow and there's you know A there's so many new elements that it'll feel like it's like a sibling in a way. But it's like the characters who i know. So he elaborates on euro possibly return. I don't say exactly how but heroes coming back in. The wild is going to keep it under out right now. I think it will be really cool and surprising We're trying some new things. Structurally with the show. We've definitely wanna keep to be one day for episode. Had a feel of the same time we want you be metric structure and so you know last season episode thirteen. We jumped ahead seven months There is a world in which we jump all over the place and time while still keeping maintaining the show. We want to look if you off balance and the prize a good way. Not like what are they doing. He's done a good job with that already. Thank you had jerry ryan last coming kinda give up another adrenaline shot to a pretty intense show. Is there a plans to bring somebody else in these. Yeah we definitely. I mean we're going to bring in this new. Cdc character we also have a new partner casting Who's who's a big kind of mysterious antagonised talkie But again we're just being very cagey about it. Right now So yes we're going to inject some new blood in but then we also want to bring back characters and i've been saying that other tables to Being dead on helix major dad. I mean it's not like you can be reanimated. Come back to life that being said we loose nations flashbacks and we play all sorts of Kind of jumping around in time and structure and states of mind so just because someone died last year doesn't mean we don't get to see.

"Hi. This is Jamie Bamberg. Hey this is Katie sack off I'm Tomo Panicky I play Hilo on the hit television series battle. Star GALACTICA. And you're listening to sci-fi Talk. Welcome to this special coverage of Helix one of the things I'm looking to do is to actually cover series from year to hear my conversations with the people involved in making the series, and this is a case would helix it's might say kicks off this kind of coverage and we start off in May of twenty thirteen I covered the sci-fi front and I spoke to Ron Moore who's executive producer. Now, to give you an idea timing, there was no casting and no scripts were written time very little was actually known about the show they showed a very interesting trailer but no details here's my conversation with Ron, Moore? Fan. Of. Yours going back the next. Gen. Up Why return to television at this time. I Love Television. You know I was always my first my first choice in my I. Love I I like being TV writer I've I've dabbled in movies. There's still some movie ideas I'd like to do but I like taking a group of characters and playing with over the course of many hours in that I love being in writers rooms I, like the pace a television immediacy of it and I don't know it's just it's what I really enjoy doing and for for this series Have you as far as where you are have any casting started yet or anything like that not yet there that's going to start very soon. you know words locking down locations we're starting to do the writers room it's up and going. So they're working on stories and scripts and. You know. The actual writing process is really what the focuses of things are right now then assembling the team, you know the DP and the constant designer productive. All that is still coming to go well, that'd be shot in Vancouver or here in St Montreal Montreal, Hope Center and is, can you tell us a little bit maybe a little nugget about who the main character is in this series? It's really an unsolvable piece. It's about several different people. Some people are at this space at the outset debit working on this. With the sort of starchy story with a new group of people that. You're seeing on there is I but then the two groups kind of your regulars. and. It's sort of we're kind of playing with expectations even I who. Really where to shift focus so it's it's not a simple. But does that kind of come together in the casting process a little bit no really comes together with the characters you decide where you're gonna go on and then once cast once you see the place on camera, you might start to shift a little bit. We know that definitely happens but make certain basic decisions before they even walk in the room. And how long has this been in development and? Well Cameron, start write a script a couple of years ago I got while last midsummer I wanNA say. Almost me. And what was it that appeal you? Said, he got rain the scrapped I I'm not a fan of viruses and medical shows. It's just not my thing I didn't Wanna read the scrapping they kind of Said, love just try telling the it was just page turn I was pulled in and I thought this is shown here man this is a show it was ultimately a show I would watch and that made me CEO can do. Television has changed so much like the guy handed, and now we're doing the split seasons and dvr's and online. There's no reruns as a result. What's your impressions of how the industry has changed and how we all simile contact? It's the mall. There's a lot of chaos and a lot of uncertainty and I think nobody knows where this is all going. We've been. It's weird because we've been all saying all the businesses changing for like the last fifteen years we've all been saying the business is changing is changing and we want to get ahead of and no one knows where it's Cohen. That place where you know lots of the fundamentals you've all been ended on March is seeping way or destroyed in front of our eyes, but it's not entirely clear. Where it goes ness we kind of know where we are at this moment I don't know where the trend lines are instance. Sure. It's a huge dvr penetration of become. So commonplace, we want to talk about it anymore like we don't talk about cable consideration anymore it's. Okay then why you know I don't know. How that influence you keep saying well, that's GonNa Destroy. AD. Revenue. Hasn't yet sad. Revenue is bigger than you can imagine still. So how does that all work in the? Internet versus cable. What does that mean? Anymore a big chunk of the audience doesn't care. It's really unclear where this all goes. So yeah, Great. Crystal Walters I would get really really wealthy. I think we all would You know I have to commend you you came from. Star Trek the next generation writer's room. So many of you have gone on to run your own shows I mean. You could probably see that den but was it when you doing it did it seemed like there was a special group of people working together I felt that way I mean we all feel like we were in a special place special time. But it's really weirdest. We were all very, you know most of us were very young. And it was our first jobs. So we kinda thought this. Well, it's just we're having a youthful unique experience and you know later will look back and say everybody goes through that. Not Everybody put through that and it was really unusual and it was unusual that. So many of us that core group of the writing staff went on to become show runners and I the further away. I've gotten from it. The more have appreciated what a really unique mason experience it was like. Well, I hope that Seifi smart tries to keep you on board as long as possible because they could use you. Thank you very much. It's great to meet you luck with Alexa I'm sure we'll hear more. And now, we fast forward to July of two thousand thirteen and the roundtables at San Diego Comic Con which Stephen, Majeida, and also ron more, and as a matter of fact, a casting was announced during the roundtables. Let's go to that. Now listen to the complete conversations at the round tables there was executive producer and showrunner Steven Majeida, who's actually a former loss producer and the executive producer Ronald D Moore you remember from battle, Star Galactica, and star. Trek the next generation. It's a very interesting series and I'll tell you a little bit more about it at the end of this podcast but let's get into the tables right away. But first, let's talk about how the process of the series began and then the casting we are. We've been working since April in breaking story and trying to. Get things figured out and we start shooting We just got our final testing today and we start shooting a week from Sunday. Tomorrow. Yeah. We actually we got Campbell as early from the most recent from the killings, and then the other one we're really excited about is are antagonistic going to be played by hero, Yuki Sonata. who we were really excited about. We think we're going to get him and and it came through today just happened and so we're thrilled really excited. He's tremendously ironically we've been talking about him for for weeks and weeks going boy you know it'd be great if the character was someone just like you're a Yuki and then we found out, he was available and interested for like really. Begged and pleaded and it worked out and here is executive producer Steven Majeida on the premises series. It starts off as an outbreak type show and will very quickly spend into something completely not different I would say but certainly related and. Off Different Path and so if you think you're going to contagion that's good because it looks like that but then it's let's face it on science fiction show so we're going to be. Hopefully, taking the SCIFI tropes, not Scifi Channel but the science fiction tropes. that. We've seen in contagion andromeda strain and you know a number of other movies and TV shows and really take them and spin them in a direction that you're expecting sit in the Arctic so. No we're shooting in Montreal Montreal. and we. Yes and and there will be you know stuff in the snow up there. But also I mean the show really is a very kind of internal show about this basis big out there and so it's about in a way. It's it's It's it could be a space station it could be a you know A. Spaceship even because the. Exterior. So hostile and so we're really trying to capitalize.

"Am I take one of it and I. I plead pippen and Lord of the Rings and Ulysses Sifi top revolve prosper in the film immortals Kellan Lutz played a full blown God and here he talked about at round tables. I covered about training for that role. It's great to. Five where? We have nutritionist, so get in shape was very key. We are playing. Gods you know, but by get in shape and we worked out hours a day whenever we weren't shooting, we'd all go to the gym. There's no competition. We're just all very supportive of each other, and you know was just very brother like, but then we had to do that fight and we had to work with. I for myself staff staff weapon training from Trident, which I've never done I've done a lot of mixed martial arts so to experience that with the best. Staff trainers and then to incorporate that with all our individual weapons was really great to see the panel for the first time for myself I was taped at San Diego comic con a few years ago, a new series begins tonight on sci-fi, and I was very lucky to visit two sets and really got a good look at what they're doing. The series is called. Helix I recently did a phone conversation part of a press conference with curious Gorski who plays Dr Julia Walker and also executive producer and show runner Steven Majeida. Here's part of hi guys. It's great to talk to you. Actually I was under set tour as well and Steven. You're on my roundtable in San Diego so. He had. What's need is can you say a little bit more about Dr? Walker and Dr Farragut relationship, and and how maybe developed a little bit It was anything added when when you were cast care or anything like back from our point of view the characters always had a relationship even in the very early grasp of the pilot script we, we deepen that a little. Little Bit, we complicated up some as we were. You know conceptualizing the show very early on, and that was part of just trying to again you know load up the the show with a lot of potential drama to play out because we knew we were going to be stuck at a at our base for the thirteen days, and so for us, it was. trying to really make that character thing and have a lot of really interesting things to go through, and I would in a lot of ways walker. At, least you know, a as the show progresses becomes very central to the show without giving too much away. pretty important role, and it's a pretty interesting character and we've got some you know. Good ratings willing we're. We've got some interesting places to take her. Yeah and I think I think something that. When just coming into the series and again those mentioning. I didn't know where the show was going to go, but just knowing that this this character is my ex husband, and then we're here to do this job. And something's that would start to come out and just kind of playing with billy. And then a new episode would come in, and you see some some interesting little dialogue between them, or what's going on, but they had marital problems, you know. The things that you just kinda bring relationship history and see that There is definitely a personality thing that happened between these two. I think. I think Walker's character something that I discovered from the information of the of just things that would happen in the show that she's the type of scientists. That I think that really likes to be in the field. She really she's very accomplished. She already You know she's wanting awards. She's she's She's gotten herself to the top of the field in in her work and I think that what she's about. You know at this point in her life was about trying. Trying to to really be out there, helping people like go to these countries and get right in the middle of the virus, and get hands on, and and be there and I think there was a difference in their personalities and that maybe he was a little bit more in the lab pen. Thing, so you just start to see some of these interesting personality clashes of where they're going to start having some some issues with each other, and it comes out in some some pretty cool ways, and some of the episodes I particularly had some fun working with him when we had Jeremiah come in, too. because. He's got such an interesting style I mean. He directed Christmas vacation. And that's just one of my all time. Favorite Christmas movies. My brother and I would watch it every year without fail. It's so good, and so he's got such a great Korpi way about him already. He really called out some of the interesting Myrtle stuff between them. That was. Really it was fun, and that's what we're kind of happen is like I. said I've discovered as we would go, and then the lean I would play with each other, and you're just bringing human relationships table. You know and seeing a ghost. Part of what we tried to do, as well as make them all all of our scientists incredibly accomplished incredibly good at their jobs, but on the flock characters who have maybe not handled things so well their allies, and that usually brings them pretty pretty rich drama accord well, having been on the sets and touring everything I think you guys really. What I've seen so far, you've used them very well. You know using all the technology that's available with some green screen here and there and I've been in that cold room in. It is cold. and. And so so it's. It's amazing what that room is and. What I've seen already. It's really used well and then having that one facility that used to be a research facility. I understand it so this way you had like all the labs almost set up for you, so you guys are really using everything that you have at your disposal to make this work. Thank you. Thanks again and best of luck. I'm really looking forward to seeing what the season's going to be like here. There's also a new series on sci-fi called bit and I attended a press conference with the author of the books and Creator Kelley Armstrong and Laura Vanderveer who plays the main character and Werewolf Elena michaels high ladies pretty excited about this series, and certainly a happy new year to you. A, so since one of you created the lane one of you plainly I kinda tell us a little bit about her and and does your interpretation of her kind of differ from each of your versions of her. Creation of of Elena really was I mean. It is my first published novel, so it was way back and I was looking to think I wanted to create a character who would? Be Aware of and be uncomfortable with that role, but ultimately comes to embrace it so often we at that time saw where will that was that was it cursed something that you wanted to and took get out of and I wanted a character who, while she would feel that she should think that way really deep down doesn't and fitting was coming to understand that what you think think you should be is not always what sermons. And I, agree with like Halley and a lot of. You know there's a lot of parallels lane, show, and and women in general you know Lena. Freeze to Toronto try to hide truly is and try to have this. Almost perfect image of what she feels. People need for this perfect boy French. Freelance photographer but she's just pushing down the animal inside of her and. You know such an amazing character that a lot of skeletons in our closet. Our Exports Season I. You learn a lot about her history and and Some of her genes come back so Every episode with shocking hustling degree that we had no idea you know where they were going to go with it so. I think even if you're not a SCIFI, fi fan. You're going to find something that you really love the show because it's not just about the sci-fi, it's not just about the where we'll since about the characters and their relationships and And very layered. Cool and you know sci-fi also has being human. So how do your where Wolves Kinda differ from Joshua's Werewolf? And and also north as well are, there will be more down to Earth Their life sized any other wolf. They're not life. You.

Blockbuster deal: Red Sox agree to trade Mookie Betts, David Price to Dodgers

"So the dodgers Red Sox have agreed to a blockbuster deal two thousand eighteen. Al Mvp Mookie. Betts and pitcher. David price have been traded to Los Angeles. Is it monkey the second best player in baseball. My crazy I thought it was Mike. Troughton mookie Betts might not now in the three-team team deal the dodgers. Since outfield Alex Vertigo to Boston and Kenza Majeida to the twins and the Red Sox also receive pitching prospects bruised doc from Minnesota clearly. Obviously a money thing for Boston it has they WanNa get below the luxury tax threshold price as a three year. Ninety six nine dollar deal and mookie designed a Deal as well okay. Okay I got a taste of first of all dodgers are very well run and in the dodgers do not spend. They're very smart. They spend a lot more than they do. They have a ton. The dodgers have great farm system and everybody they bring up works like everybody so they spend a lot of money on research and development development. They have passed. They passed on Harper. They passed on Zach grinky they passed on somebody else. That was expensive. Manny Machado. That didn't go all in on him. So for the dodgers to go in on McKee bets. It tells you he's a he's a day. One changed the franchise talents superstar or star. Yes he is the second best player in the sport. I don't know what his war consecutive gold glove last year. Obviously when AOL. MVP and she says. How are the red sox struggling struggling with money? I don't get it. I thought it was the Yankees made the most money because they have the necessary they have a regional network. That's a cash cow so yankees make the most money. Isn't it like dodgers Red Sox.

"I'll get to you in just a sex. WanNa finish my thought about this whole big trade the rays his and the Yankees were also winners yesterday because now they don't have to face price or bats. I mean let's just say number. Alex Verduga was a guy that the dodgers alters just playing wouldn't trade but they held on to them held onto them held onto him. Freeman did a great job of waiting until it was time to trade him and his time to trade him when you could get McKee bats. Whatever he wants McKee we already went over that? And that's when I mean there's there's a strong belief in the industry that grads we're all who's a great pitching prospect. But it's going to be a reliever so you get Kenta Maeda who is a establish big-league starter. He's not amazing but he's above average and he has signed through twenty twenty three. The twins are ready to win. Eh if they add pieces Majeida is a piece. Now they don't have to wait to see of crowder all can find himself at the MLB level level. They know that made a WHO can also relieve. They know he goes right into the rotation And I also think maybe Verdoux go is a winner in this too because as you think well. Why would you go from a world series contender to a team? That's getting gutted. Well that outfield in La with bellenger injure. And you got Paula. Chris Taylor Keith Hernandez this Kid Matt Bady at bets. He's being every day rightfielder now. In an at fenway an everyday right fielder. He doesn't have to worry about somebody else on the roster or a crowded pawtucket getting him. But if you're a red SOX SOX fan less than a year ago boots a milky bats was going to be a lifetime red SOx player raining. Al Mvp centerpiece of their best team. Ever great young fan favourite. How do you not resign? That guy. He's their best player since Pedro Martinez and they didn't so that's my thoughts. Let's go to the phone lines at eight hundred eight seven eight. Play Vince in the East Bay. How you doing Vince? I guess when let's say the Red Sox are playing the Oakland A.'s Situation they wanted to get under the salary cap or you don't pay the penalty. That was the only reason why he did that. Trait the the second reason why they did it they fuck. They had no chance of winning their division or getting wildcard so that to me is insane when they're one of the biggest revenue Of The teeny producers in baseball. So you're not even trying to me is like disgusting but so doctors got better. Minnesota got better in it and temp obey like you said got better all these teams. Are you know position themselves for playoffs And they're not so I. I just think it's a red sox fan. I extremely bad but but the reason why I called and it's not the warriors it's the sharks and I I haven't talked about a shark for a while but they were playing del for a while now and they're doing it because they're planning to trade him. That was the whole ideal before the trade deadline but he got player two months in February. And I'm listening to what one of the few fans watching Shark Games. And Warriors Games all the sharks every single player that they interviewed Adele the Most Valuable Player on the team and they're able to win now developing a goalie. So here's the limit was Wilson is he gonNA trade him or is he gonNA spree sign him in but resigned or probably got to pay at least three four million a year and then the other question is Jones Jones. The backup I just now. Eight point two five average in percents. which is the worst? NHL His favor sanctions worsened H.. L. is guaranteed five and a half million for the next four years. He has a no trade clause. And I've been reading in the hockey news. It just about every single zeca feels that Jones cannot even play nature telling Moore he's not NHL player so the sharks going to have to buy that contract which is not gonna be happy about. But it's GONNA cost about one four two one five the CIA cap for the next ten years but it's only thing they could do at this point i. I don't see how they cannot do it. They don't do it they're going to be really sorry 'cause there with the cat right now outside. They're going to have any room to sign players in the off season. They have to be that with Joe. And you see the sharks heaping Dell and do you see them getting you know finding Out Joan I don't see them buying out Jones Aaron Dell to me is you know pretty pathetic aesthetic. But he's better than Martin Jones and his Saber Saber. Like nine eleven. I mean you say you travel air. It's nine twenty twenty six. He's been starting. It's nine fifty eight. Since he's been starring I'm just. I'm not a believer. I'm not a believer in Aaron del. He's had he had that hot. That hot streak last year as well and then he went back into the crapper I would love to see them. Look they're gonNA keep del because I don't think they can get anything for him. To tell you the truth. He's not somebody that that team's GonNa Trade for and give up you know first and second round pick not looking at third fourth round. Yeah you you might as well just hold onto I know he's a unrestricted free agent. But if he can stay for a hometown discount you might as well keep him around but I. He doesn't impress me all that much and I. I wouldn't wouldn't blink if they got rid of him about Jones I mean he's now eight twenty five as a backup. He's even worse. He's the worst goalie. He was third worst last year. The only NHL clean all backups. He's the worst goalie now and he gets worse and worse each year. Do You keep that. I mean I just think the sharks would be fools fools if they keep them well. It's hard I mean his cap. It's going to be five point seven and you're GonNa pay that's not. I'm not even thinking about what they're going to pay him personally. But you're you're but you're going to take a cap hit of five point seven instead of paying him six point seven so all your all your all your saving a million in dollars. No that's not true if they with the way the rule is because I read some sharks homepage. is they take the remaining of the contract which which is about twenty two million dollars times like point six which is about one four two one five nine a year divided up by ten years. That's the CAP kit. That's a big buy out the contract. I'm on I'm on. I'm on hockey. REFERENCE DOT COM and it says five point seven million cap it. Yeah they would. That's what it is right now on the on the sharks. That's what they have to pay if they keep them on the team if they Bhai amount of salary is six point seven five. It's a million more. That was my bonus. That's why and that that's spread out over the life of the contract but it's don't worry about the cabinet. His salary is five. Point seven million so you would take the way the Cat Bayat. Is You take sixty percent of the salary you still have to pay. The player to player gets his money. You take sixty percent of the salary divide which is left to the contract and divided abided by ten years and that's what the salary cap news which is about one point five nine so you still pay him the money you got paying that money over four years but you get a lot less. Kafit happen like she's willing to do that one. You can't do that. You have to wait ten years before. I just wonder who you're going to bring in because I mean you're right he's had two terrible years In his career he's still over five hundred. Of course he played for a Stanley Cup champion and he took a team to the Stanley. Any Cup finals as we all saw I just wonder if he's a lost cause because there are so many mediocre goal is out there and it just if it was a free agent. You'd I'd say fine. Let's move on but if you're paying a guy whatever it is not to play for you and you bring in somebody. Who's just a little bit better like Aaron Del I? I don't really know what you accomplish. He's his his average right. Now is getting close to nine to season since he's been starting it's it's like nine eight point five eight and that's why he got fired sharks. I mean they're gonNA keep him. I think for the rest of the season. Play them most of the Games and he keeps doing what he's doing for the rest of the season I think they're going to be signing. And then I think they have to do that with Jones and then they're gonNa have to find a backup for dell either through their myrlie system system which will pay him a minimum of like seven thousand or Side of free agent goalie. And they're gonNA have to eat the contract. I mean this. This team's worth about a billion dollars. I five point eight million but you have to write the check and Cheer Jones. Is it gonNA carry not the only thing that could help them. A little bit is it. It went once it becomes becomes a free agents like baseball besides another contract. It's going to be minimum because that's that's because it goes back to the sharks so he would get minimum for the next four eight years they would pick up basically seven thousand for the next four years per year. I just want you remember. Troy Troy grows. You know he was. He H. L. Goalie of the year. They they've got these guys now Yosef Coroner Andrew Short Ridge not short ribs. Shortridge and Zach sought Chanko. Will you buy out without making a trade. You Buy Out Jones and now you promote Andor shortridge. Did you really make your team better well. That's what I think is going to play the rest of the season. If he plays you know now a sample sizes about a month he'll have two more months to play and then if he plays like this the rest of the year I think. I don't think you're GonNa pay him like twenty million dollars for your contract. I was signed del for one year. Contract probably pay him two to three million dollars which is warning. He's making now so be my star and look at them for the whole year and by Jones. Because it's it's like a stock if you ever really crappy stock most people how they lose money is Tanglin dot com and there's a thing goes back up selling it and look for better stock doc. I mean it it it. I mean once he's pay the money got work at it is. It's like sunk costs as we talk about this and finance. It's that's a lot you can't look at his contract. You have to start thinking of Johnston have a contract should be on. The short answer is no. I mean every year if you look at Jones Stat ah every year. He's gotten worse it. That's a that's a fact every year has there's no doubt they needed upgrade and they they committed to Jones he was you know it was a great story. He was undrafted. And you know came. Out of the Calgary area or Kelly. Kissel was his coach when he was playing for the Hitman. Manning was a teenager and you know a great story in which I think quick came went down and he went in and he like was first eight games and there were three shutouts awesome. Like oh my gosh. This guy's better and he came to the sharks and he was just absolutely fantastic and he was really really really fantastic so i. I don't know hockey. Not Well enough to know whether he's a lost cause or not but usually you can have one bad year too bad years. Then you have to start look worse. I mean that's thing I think he's not just bad the worst goalie in hockey you know. That's a second time. They need to find a solution. I just I just the thing is. Is that when you so when you when you're a sport with a salary cap and you start talking about paying a guy not to play for you. That's fine if you have someone better. I don't know if they can and find someone better right now and they have Dell and they have Jones so I just think standing pat and waiting until the summer is probably the better move. Yeah I think they'll do that..

"That trump is considering splitting the nafta talks here's very seriously contemplating kind of a shift in nafta negotiations his preference now and he asked me to convey this is to actually negotiate with mexico and canada separately he prefers bilateral negotiations joining us from our bloomberg ninety nine to one studios in washington is andrew majeida bloomberg news global trade reporter andrew canada and mexico have said they're committed to keeping the nafta agreement a trilateral agreement but what's so what's the reaction from those countries to having bilateral talks i think that they would prefer not to go down that route this is an interesting change of strategy from the president until now he's been trying to negotiate a new deal with all three countries the president has expressed preference in the past for bilateral deals he thinks that the us is less likely to get a raw deal outweigh the problem is that canada and mexico there's not a lot of appetite right now i think for them to negotiate in that way the steel tariffs have really poison the well in a lot of ways and how would they be able to create a bilateral deal out of three nations like that it seems as though that would be near impossible to pull off well you know at some point you would simply withdraw from nafta what's interesting is that an excuse well what's interesting actually is that larry cudlow didn't say that the president is planning to withdraw i think that that's really the nuclear option that people are really worried about but how would it work the way it would work as you know candidate is the us would have separate negotiations with canada have separate negotiations with mexico this is actually similar to what the us did with respective japan because as you may recall president trump pulled out the tpp and then said he wanted to do bilateral negotiations with japan japan said well hold on a second we made concessions under tpp that we may not be willing to make again to the us bilaterally so i really don't think that this is going to be very warmly received in ottawa mexico city so andrew senator john cornyn said that the windows closed to get a deal passed in this congress how will pushing nafta talks into next year changed the dynamics of the negotiations.
