El Salvador to Become the First Bitcoin Country

"What's going on guys. It is monday. June seventh and man. This is the type of episode that is like skipping rocks across the pond. There is so much to dig into that. I feel like. I'm barely going to scratch the surface today but i wanna relatively complete starting point for anyone who wants to understand. This news coming out of el salvador. Now before i get into a big caveat is that my knowledge of el salvador stopped started with the civil war in the. Us has role in it until about three days ago. I'm learning in real time. Just like you guys. And i don't wanna present any hint of overconfidence particularly with regard to domestic politics in el salvador. But with that out of the way. Let's talk about this. Bitcoin twenty twenty one in miami was already dominating the twitter spear before saturday multiple hashtags related to the event. Were trending around the us. The crypto twitter tribes were showing off their tribalism in glorious fashion. The people in miami meanwhile seem to be having just an absolute hell of time. But on saturday morning tweets started coming out from the official event account as well as from influencers that one of the biggest announcements in bitcoin. History was coming later that day. That was a pretty big claim. So of course there was some amount of immediate skepticism. Could whatever the news was meat that lofty bar set by the marketing around four thirty. Pm eastern time strikes. Jack mahler's ascended the stage to make an announcement now for background. Mahler's had recently spent time at el salvador's bitcoin beach project alongside others like square cryptos miles suitor and had already contributed to some interesting initiatives there for anyone paying attention that was clearly some ground up momentum around bitcoin and lightning in el salvador mahler's announcement however would catapult the country into a totally new status in the bitcoin. As you heard at the beginning of this show el salvador's president. Naib kelly was submitting a bill to recognize bitcoin as legal tender. They would be the first country to do so with significant implications and while the bill would still have to be reviewed by the country's legislative assembly bouquets waiver party new ideas had recently won a significant majority in the unicameral body so passage was nearly assured

Climate Change Threatens the Future of Sports

"Week one of the Australian Open tennis tournament in Melbourne is almost in the books. There have already been surprises like cocoa goth knocking out defending champ. Naomi Asaka in the third round and there have been climate challenges to bad air quality because of the wildfires burning across southeastern Australia intense rainstorms. Even a blanket of red dust just from a sandstorm so what is an increasingly warm planet and the unpredictable weather that comes with it mean for tennis and other outdoor Sports Dave Ziren of the nation wrote wrote recently about how climate change is affecting sports. And he's with us now now studios in Washington. DC to talk more about it Davis Iron. Welcome back thanks for joining us. A great to be here so in your piece you describe the extreme dream weather conditions that we've seen at the open as the tip of an iceberg of a melting iceberg. In fact what did you mean by that. Well I meant that. This is an issue that sports needs to reckon with and so far it is not reckoned with it whatsoever. This is a very evocative example. Because it's a grand slam event and people are talking about it but this has been happening for years in sports on a host of smaller Mahler and other fronts like less days to play hockey in Canada. Because they're the rinks aren't solid ice. I mean they're melting rinks. In Canada other instances elect cardiovascular sports intense cardiovascular sports like cycling and like marathoning have been cut short because of heat outdoor skiing Is something that has has had to deal with the idea of having to store snow on heavy snow days because they can't be guaranteed snow throughout the year and that in and of itself leaves a tremendous carbon footprint so on a host host of different fronts. We're in a situation where climate change in sports are colliding you know. Sometimes the international sports entities have dealt with health challenges. It's like this echo virus in during the during the summer Olympics in Brazil. I mean there was open discussion about that. But you you've said that the sports world has really avoided having a conversation about climate climate change. Why do you think that is will because it puts the question of whether or not we should even be playing these sports right now under the microscope like in the context of a warming planet? Are there some sports that we should probably do away with when we're in a situation where it's possible that as many as half of all golf courses could be threatened by rising waters by the the end of this century it raises the question of should we be building more golf courses. Doing is asked to golf. Digest reported on this that of two thousand ninety out of one thousand. Roughly you want out of one thousand. Two hundred Outdoor courses that they looked at half of them are going to be affected by rising waters are sports organizations like Fida in soccer or the. NFL fell the National Football League or the International Olympic Committee. Are they built for talking about big issues like this. That's a great question. There definitely built for starting conversations nations which is what we need to do. I mean these aren't environmental emergency organizations. That can step up and do the kind of work that we need to help a warming planet but they are organizations that can start discussions in these discussions are certainly desperately needed at this point. You're going to see this summer in Tokyo. At the two thousand twenty Olympics they're expecting a rising heat and at the next world a cop which is going to be held in Qatar where it's going to be extremely hot And that's why they moved it to the fall instead of doing it. Over the summers traditionally do precisely because of the rising heat and so in these contacts can be discussions that can be had about how sports should operate. How can sports be more green? How can a sports not leave such an intense carbon footprint imprint think the Australian Open? And what's been happening. There opens the way up for all these discussions before you go. Who Do you think should take the lead here? I mean. Should it be these organizations that are supposed to look out for the interests of the players as well as the integrity of the sport. Do you think it's like the celebrity athletes. This is one of the subjects of your career as Islamic activism. And how how that affects. The athletes lives and careers. I mean this is something you've written about extensively for for many years. Now I mean what do you I think I think we're going to need The top athletes in their sports speaking out and speaking out on behalf of all players in treating it like a workplace safety issue. I think if they're able to do that. It provides an opening for speaking about the environmental impact and talking about the impact on the athletes themselves. I do not think we can trust the league's the higher ups in the leagues which are basically profit machines from actually actually trying to say well. Maybe we can't make as much money but also leave less of a global footprint. It's GonNa take the athletes to step up and make this thing happen. That's Davis Iron. Hey sports writer for worth a nation. That's the Progressive Magazine. He recently wrote about climate change and its impact on sports. Teams aren't thank you so much for talking to

Comparing the impeachment trials of President Clinton and President Trump

"Right now on Capitol Hill ahead of the one PM eastern resumption of the Senate impeachment trial of president trump some Senate Republicans are holding a news conference led by Lindsey Graham South Carolina chair of the Judiciary Committee thank you all very much observations about yesterday it was a long day but that's okay a lot of Americans have long days a couple things I've been involved into impeachment trials this is the second one I just want to make an observation here what the house managers were proposing yesterday is basically destroy the institution of the presidency as we know it make it make it when it comes to the partisan impeachment not have a venue to go to court and litigate privileges at the end of an exercise our prior presence when it comes to Donald Trump willing to destroy the institution of the office in the name of getting him so bottom line the Clinton impeachment was conducted by outside counsel there's not here Ken Starr spent five years investigating the president before we took up the matter in the house the president was allowed to cross examining Ken Starr at the house Judiciary Committee he recommended eleven grounds for impeachment and president Clinton utilize the court's extensively on his behalf Robert Mull was an outside counsel appointed to investigate this press I want the public to note that this president cooperated with Mister Miller he turned over million documents his lawyer testified for thirty hours and after two years of investigation with nineteen lawyers forty F. B. I. agents two thousand subpoenas and five hundred search warrants they decided to take no action they said there was no collusion between the trump campaign and the Russian government when it came to obstruction of justice they did not recommend any action I thought that would be the end of actually introduce legislation to say that Robert Muller cannot be removed accept the call because the president felt like the motor investigation was of which I did not the present was frustrated because he said he did nothing wrong I can understand that but it was important for me to make sure that the country would have somebody to look at these allegations Ross are very serious and I supported Mahler's ability to look any work for a long time and I thought it would be over Mr Shipp said yesterday what they did in the house was just like what we did with Clint that is absolutely untrue from the time they authorized impeachment it took forty eight days not two years with Mahler not five years like Clint the forty eight days the fact finding process was done in the Intel committee now the Judiciary Committee the present was denied the right to cancel the Intel committee and could not request with they spent one day in the Judiciary Committee go back and look at the tapes of how long can start testified before the Senate excuse me the house Judiciary Committee of which I was a far what we've done for the first time in American history isn't Peter president without outside counsel and all in a forty eight day period well here's what struck me the most where the house manager said reason we didn't go to court we don't want to go through the courts is that we can engage in before the election they withdrew from the Cumberland cover of the dead the national security adviser case where the dead the national security adviser what course to tell me what to do judge the house actually withdrew the subpoena because they didn't want the court process to stop the impeachment trial they would have the United States Senate create an impeachment process where the president would not be allowed to go to article three court to argue privileges that have been argued in every other impeachment trial and have been argued by president since George Washington that would destroy the institution of the presidency as we know it what would it do it would allow a handful any three hundred plus million country people all along partisan lines ten PH a president without independent judiciary the before I came here I used to try cases we have a lot of good lawyers in this body all I can say is that when the court date was set and if I showed up and asked for a bunch of subpoenas and documents to be produced on the day of trial that I had not pursued before the trial in any serious way how to get tossed out what do we do yesterday exactly what happened in the Clinton impeachment trial we're going to hear the house's gate the president's response we're going to ask questions then we'll decide among ourselves do we want to know anything yesterday was about eleven hours of them telling us how bad their case was in my view they did not pursue these witnesses because they knew the president what's the judiciary very us and it literally would stop them impeaching him before the election so the only thing I can tell the American people when it comes to replacing those present nine months plus from the election you got an up hill battle with me because I really do believe that the best person group of people to pick a president are the voters not a bunch of partisan politicians senator Lindsey Graham every day we're here doing this is a day were taken away from doing things that really matter so when they say it was like Clinton no when they say the court's really have no place in impeachment that's all going to be done by the house and the Senate without any independent judicial review god help us all center Steve Daines of Montana we had a lot of time last night thank some twelve hours on the floor of the US Senate is the first impeachment trial I've been through senator Graham is the experience that is his prior political life it reminded me of when I went to high school in Bozeman Montana if I turned in a term paper he was half complete my teacher toss it back to me they didn't get it done is incomplete probably give it up and say it's a complete try yeah that's why I felt like we saw last night was an incomplete case I have not done a complete homework you're my enemy what Nancy posted back in two thousand ten on the Obama care is that first we got a pass to find out was it it feels like what happened last night they had a rush this through the house just get over to the Senate we'll find out what's really in try to fix a fair let me remind you remind all of us in two hundred forty four years of history of this great country United States Senate has never remove a president from office never you look at the two trials for presence but we have had in the Senate over the course of our history President Johnson eighteen sixty of course president Clinton nineteen ninety nine what's unique about this impeachment trial versus the other two the other two both had crimes alleged in the impeachment articles president trump does not the other two impeachment trials had bipartisan support coming out of the house president trump impeachment coming out of the house did not first time I've ever seen there were many things that I agreed with with with a German never said last night but he did say some and I hope everybody hurts actually back to the Clinton days was it and I will paraphrase it and god help us if we ever purely partisan basis numbers work back then were wives and I hope you would see them today this is the most hardest impeachment process ever seen a history of this great country no crimes alleged in the trunk articles not bipartisan in a very important final point is if you look for the Democrats are asking United States Senate to do is to remove president trump from office and to bar him from ever holding office again was also unique about this trial versus president when this is done in an election it's really big the fundamental question as well is to the United States Senate the side the two thousand twenty election and overturn a two thousand sixteen election by removing this president from office I put the trust in the voters of this country they should have that say not the nicest

There's an introduction This gives you time to think of everything you need before you start out. How do you have your scarf? Your mittens a blanket. Have you been to the bathroom and here come the horses. You hear the sleigh bells screen look at various places along the way different instruments chime in imagine them signaling that we're passing something interesting. A fancy house for another sleigh or maybe. We're just talking to fellow travelers. I you hear the French horns talk soon and saxophone together together. Plus some brass. And we're off again lieutenant. Kisha who took this sleigh ride was a fictional Russian soldier from the eighteen hundreds. Can you think of the difference between what he might have seen. And what you would see on a sleigh ride I could you even take a sleigh ride where you live without bumping into a bus or truck. Yikes we just missed them. "I'm telling you right now if Mahler and found something against drama I live in is loudest critic and I told the president to his face so what I see coming happening today is just a partisan nonsense you voiced strong news about this impeachment place at but you all along with the rest of your sentence fellows Jervis easy to be voicing your opinion even the full scale to the Senate trial well I must think so because I'm doing good call Lindsey it's like I think I can because I just did but now now we have I love that a question for journalistic your voice your opinion you had Democrats all along in the house for searching that for months I think I think Maxine waters all for impeachment like a year ago you know publicly you know yelling about impeachment either but others to calling for impeachment saying the president be impeached impeachable conduct you know the president's real one piece will conduct is being stronger than they are in better than they are at this game they can't handle it it's not supposed to be this way we're supposed to take the Romney Paul Ryan K. sick approach to the opposition where you know we put out some ideas that a that a think tank that you know is funded by the donor class tells us would be really great but you know we want to push too hard in okay we lost in some of the foundational elements of rule of law and separation of powers might be under assault by the other side but you know we don't wanna be means are like yeah I guess they just get their way I guess they just win but you know and these were being good sports about it that was the Republican ammo until trump came along for eight years of Obama's Republican ammo overall I know there was a tea party surge but the Republican I most certainly at the presidential election level was you know whether was John McCain or Mitt Romney it was lose gracefully lose politely you know get here and get your **** kicked out on the tennis court on the you know basketball court or wherever in the Nash would see while you're so good thanks for just just you know kicking my **** Democrats that's what we're supposed to do I'm not only that's where we would have been I think again had we not actually had trump defeat Hillary and twenty sixteen some people much prefer their politics to be determined by how much the other side can tolerate them you know are you are you hated Republican you hated conservative because understand this we are heading into territory right now or if you are not willing to abide to scorn on the other side publicly or perhaps even just in your own day to day life talking about these issues if you're not willing to abide to scorn of the last I'm gonna fight hard enough because they really do make this about hating the other side they really do make this about control of all things you're not allowed to have a reason discussion which had was that the C. N. N. gas before saying that it's terrifying that regional people disagree about impeachment come off terrifying on surviving all present on and this doesn't affect any in any normal person who pays attention to what's going on your first almost more people say who the heck cares and I get all your stuff about how you don't want to talk too much about impeachment it's the biggest story in the country I mean there's nothing they're trying they're trying to end a presidency folks I mean they know they're not gonna get through the Senate but maybe they think that there's a wild card change that you know you don't know you don't know until you try so this is you know they're thrown out of forty yarder here in the end zone in quadruple coverage crazy things happen because this step they're taking is the affirmation of the left desire to remove the president of the United States from office that is in fact what they are trying to do we're told this is the only way this is the right way this must happen in this way I mean here we got to Lindsey Graham all still is where where is go in in the Senate he claims it will be D. O. eight thirteen please this thing will come in the Senate and it will die quickly and I will do everything I can to make it die quickly so I think in each month is going to end quickly in the Senate.

Trump's Impeachment Inquiry: How did we get here?

"It started with one whistle blower now less than two months later a full blown impeachment inquiry set to reach a critical phase the first public testimony that will likely shape public perceptions of the investigation and the future of the trump presidency the central questions wasn't an abuse of power for the president to ask a foreign leader to investigate a political rival here at home was he acting to further his own personal and political interests by withholding military aid from a key US ally with all of the rhetoric flying from both sides of the aisle and president trump's own free wheeling defense we wanted to hit the pause button and ask how did we get here the actions taken to date by the president has seriously violated the constitution September twenty fourth house speaker Nancy Pelosi formally opens an impeachment inquiry after a bomb shell whistle blower complaint raised concerns over trump still only phone call with the Ukrainian president for autumn years Lewinski conversation was was perfect my phone call was perfect according to a White House memo detailing that call trump tells the Ukrainian president we do a lot for Ukraine so let's get laid a response we are ready to continue to cooperate for the next steps specifically buying American anti tank missiles trump's response I would like you to do is a favor though he goes on to ask for Lenski to investigate a deep funk theory about the twenty sixteen election and then a second request an investigation into his democratic rival it goes to the core of whether the president views his office to seek political help in his reelection campaign and did so to the detriment of our nation's security house Democrats said they should at least twenty six subpoenas and at least fifteen individuals have appeared before Congress according to witness testimony trumps the man was forced to fight his top advisors including his acting chief of staff and his personal attorney in phone calls and meetings for months among the key testimony so far bill Taylor the top US diplomat in Ukraine who told Congress he was told everything including military aid in a White House meeting was contingent on Ukraine's willingness to launch the investigation trump requested Gordon son one the US ambassador to the U. who in a stunning about face room bar I used his testimony Sonya now saying he told a top Ukranian official Ukraine would likely not receive military aid unless you crane publicly agreed to investigate trumps targets and lieutenant colonel Alexander vin meant a White House national security official who was on that July phone call then men recalled one meeting in particular were senior Ukrainian officials were told they had to investigate the bidens could've been men also testified he was told to hold on military aid came from the White House chief of staff's office in the face of mounting evidence the president has been unrelenting in his defense which is all a hoax Republicans largely closing ranks around the president as Democrats move for work those open hearings will be an opportunity for the American people to evaluate the witnesses for themselves to make their own determinations about the credibility of the witnesses but also to learn first hand about the facts of the president's misconduct and joining me now to break this down further is ABC news senior national correspondent Terry Moran and Terry I want to start with these public hearings and who the public will see testify to big witnesses to lead off William Taylor was the acting ambassador in Ukraine and George can a state department official with responsibility over to you gonna get a picture from Kiev from Ukraine and from Washington from two men who were very alarmed about what was going on and that is the end of the at the end of the week Marie on your vitamins who was the ambassador who was pushed out by Rudy Giuliani and others in the administration and Terry really at the heart of this is a federal law that says it would be illegal to accept receive or solicit anything of value from a foreign national in connection with the US election there are those who say the phone transcript itself showed that but now we have this long line of witnesses we do a lot of election lawyers will tell you that the phone transcript does demonstrate that the president violated election law some election lawyers will tell you know because it doesn't have a determinate monetary value and that's a debate in the election law but really this isn't about election what about the constitution and the question does the evidence show that the president abused his power by trying to get a forgot to go after his political rival is that an impeachable offense at the constitution really that I think the Congress and the country's gonna focus in the whistle blower a lot of attention obviously on the whistle blower doesn't sound like that whistle blower will be appearing to think it's important well not from an evidentiary standpoint Adam Schiff the the German intelligence committee said other witnesses in sworn testimony have borne out what the whistle blower complaint says so he's not or she is not necessary in test was probably true from evidence and federal law protects this whistleblower from any kind of retaliation and there is a concern that the inflammatory language might endanger the whistle blower but I cover jury trials for a long time juries like the eyeball witnesses and were talking about overturning a presidential and there will be Americans for whom the impeachment evidence is less persuasive is diminished because we can't see and know the person who started that their motivations and intent and enter and no you covered the click the Clinton impeachment you obviously followed the Nixon impeachment as a little kid but what are the possible outcomes here well the president could be removed from office I think there's some confusion about the word impeachment impeachment is the indictment it is going to go to the floor of the house of representatives almost certainly and it looks as if the present will be pleased to be a trial in the Senate and of sixty seven senators are two thirds of the senators present vote the press will be removed from office but I think ultimately what we're looking at is the final verdict will come from the American people on election day about this conduct about whether or not we want a presidency that goes to other governments for assistance in going after political rivals and that the election day now less than a year away will be the ultimate verdict on all of this thanks as always Terry thanks much so let's bring in democratic representative Jackie spear a member of the intelligence committee which will conduct those public hearings this week thanks so much for joining us let me ask you Robert Mahler's public testimony earlier this year did not galvanize public opinion on the findings of his investigation into Russian interference in the twenty sixteen election and while this is obviously a different allegation how do you make a stronger public case this time I think for a number of reasons first of all I'm Bob Miller's report was four hundred pages long I had a lot of legalese this is a very simple straightforward act the president broke the law he went on a telephone call with the president of Ukraine and said I have a favor though and then proceeded to ask for and investigation of his rival and this is a very strong case of bribery because you have an elected official the president are demanding action of a foreign country in this case of and providing something of value which is the investigation and he is withholding aid which is that official act and the constitution is very clear treason bribery or acts of mission and in this case it is is clearly one of those obviously Republicans would disagree with you on a lot of that Republicans sent their list of witnesses they want to call as part of the intelligence committees public impeachment hearings yesterday it included the whistle blower and hunter Biden this is what intelligence committee chairman Adam Schiff said in a statement last night this inquiry is not and will not serve however as a vehicle to undertake the same sham investigation into the bidens or twenty sixteen and in a letter to Republican shift calling the whistle blowers testimony redundant and unnecessary and would only place their personal safety at grave risk it doesn't sound like the chairman will allow Biden or the whistle blower to testify as the Republicans have requested if you're able to guarantee his or her safety why shouldn't the whistle blower testify well the whistleblower actually provided a document he was third hand we have colonel then men who was actually on the call who will be in a position I think to testify and so you have a much more direct person to speak to about the events and if you have the actual transcript of that the president himself provided it is corroboration so you you have up what we have to prove though is corrupt intent and we prove corrupt intent by showing first of all the money was withheld secondly there was concealment there's concealment by virtue of having that transcript Ford into a special server you have concealment because you have persons within the administration who are prevented from testifying you then go further and you have this diversion by the president by trying to focus on the whistle blower who legally has a right not to be this woman even though even though their battle government even though there may be a legal right are are Terry Moran was just saying it's someone the people might want to hear from for for political benefit is that something you should consider having a whistle blower come forward because Republicans have made such an issue of this I think the Republicans are making an issue of anything that they think will give them some gravitas the only thing that the whistle blower can say is that he was told by other people's about the phone call we have the other people coming forward to actually testify so you have direct evidence not indirect evidence and the whistle blower has great risk associated with his life right now and he also has the right under the law under the whistleblower statute to have his whistle blower complaint filed and for him to be anonymous strongly about whistleblower protection and and and you said the rules driving the impeachment process are very equal and yet chairmanship hand turn down those G. O. P. witnesses and the White House lawyers are not allowed to participate in public hearings before the house intelligence committee how's that very equal well there are other witnesses the Republicans have requested that I would think that the press the chairman is going to make available to testify to Morrison is one Kurt Volker is another we want to stay focused on the crane the call and having hunter Biden come in is unrelated to the Ukraine call and so that becomes irrelevant the whistleblower again has protection as it relates to having the witnesses being questioned by someone within the White House that can in fact happen the president can have a conclusion that he can reach at the end of the actual Judiciary Committee hearing and all we're asking for is that we receive what we are rightly deserving which is the documentation from state department all of which is with been withheld and the primary people like Mulvaney who is the chief of staff who took direct orders from the president of course is using this phony argument of absolute immunity which doesn't exist

What's next in the impeachment inquiry?

"The inquiry centers on the administration's efforts to pressure Ukraine into investigating twenty twenty political rival Joe Biden and his son hunter in exchange for foreign military aid approved earlier by Congress critics have said the president abuse the power of his office by making the demand but Mr trump and his allies say he was right to demand that an ally address corruption as a condition of receiving the four hundred million dollars in military aid ledge king Washington correspondent at USA today has a look at some key lawmakers to watch as this further on folds ledge first set this up broadly this was a a vote on how to lay out the process going forward all right so I guess part of the credit depending on how you look at it right belongs to the New York congressman who came Jeffries yes he does it is true so he's the caucus chair and one reason we focused on him is because Wall Nancy Pelosi is you know the face of the party in the house and she is the one that essentially launched the inquiry Japanese is the one responsible for sort of hurting the cats and making sure that the party that his caucus is on board there are going to bring about like this down to the floor unless they know it's going to pass so it's Jeffries job to make sure that Democrats stay in line they have the votes we can go forward what's interesting about him is that he's also been mentioned as as close to their parents when she does step down obviously it'll be a lot of jockeying when that happens every year the rising star in the party and and and his job is to make sure that both like this one go the right way for the Democrats very much on the other side of the political spectrum is Ohio Republican Jim Jordan what role as he played in this here you know if you were to watch cable television in the last year or two he is omnipresent pretty much everywhere he's he's a staunch defender of the president very conservative co founder of the house freedom caucus or the ultraconservative group that has just given a lot of the sort of anti spending movement and Congress and very tenacious very Doggett and he is not afraid to take on the other side and and so he is somebody that throughout this whatever happens with impeachment you're gonna hear a lot from Jim Jordan missing with ledge king Washington correspondent at USA today Sir to peace and that'll five key lawmakers to watch as Congress set the ground rules for the trump impeachment inquiry well what do you call Florida congressman Francis Rooney the troubled Republican well Rudy has he's from Naples he's from southwest Florida very Republican area you know he's a former businessman's for businessmen he was a **** at the Vatican under George W. bush he has very much establishment Republican credentials but he's also the parted ways with the Republicans on things like climate change oil drilling and he has said that he is troubled by what he heard about the president in terms of this phone call to Ukraine in terms of other pressure that was exerted he's on foreign relations so he's he's one of the he he's hit someone the committee that is in the closed door hearings happening now that are deposing witnesses so he has first hand knowledge of what these witnesses are saying what he what they have told him about the chi the efforts by the administration the president to pressure Ukraine to dig up dirt on the bidens he said is is not good how does the kind of the loan independent in the house that Justin Ammash from Michigan yeah he's an independent but on this issue he's been very outspoken he thinks that this isn't that what the president did was an impeachable offense actually the mall report is what he points to why you left the party he he raises concerns about Mahler he was essentially ostracized by the party didn't release it didn't feel like the party belong to him or even longer the party anymore so he left I Roddick Lee on July fourth before even the Ukraine issue bottled up he was in the impeachment Cappy is definitely not a Democrat I mean he's a libertarian leaning Michigan congressman but he is somebody that's from on impeachment but at the Democrats should count him to be voting on with them on a lot of other issues thanks let's let's king Washington correspondent at USA

"Russia collusion story including up to and including the Mahler investigation he has been working tirelessly on a book about this I am the book is published today it's been out there available for pre order for a while but it's available today it's called ball of confusion in the plot to rig an election am to destroy a presidency now that should give you eight point he good indication of what this book is about this book is replete with evidence it is replete with some of the most incredible expert opinion and insight into what this attempt to overthrow a presidency and overthrow the results of an election what is how it began how it was conducted who did it who was involved who has been exposed the thing about this book is that it McCarthy is a brilliant guy and he can ride in legally is as well as anybody can but this book is written in a almost conversational very rational way and it explains doesn't just a queue is doesn't just the ledge it explains why the collusion in charge why this whole notion of collusion was B. S. from the start not by may say I'm Indian I spoke regularly about this during the entire length of time this investigation went on I was picking his brain about legal things you are using the experience that he had had as a prosecutor VST and why and somebody familiar with number of the agencies that were involved here and we would share thoughts and opinions back and forth and I knew from the moment I heard he was writing a book about this that was gonna being comprehensive in probably be there are a lot of books that are out there now that that that were written during like Gregg Jarrett's book when I read it was was fabulous because of the primary contention his contention was that all of this began with the need to exonerate Hillary Clinton the F. B. I. call me all of these people on the left the Washington establish they head to exonerate her they had to clear her from any crimes that she had committed and she had committed crimes he was the democratic nominee they desperately needed her to be elected for a whole host of reasons and for that to happen she had to be cleared what McCarthy's book does it start with the beginning of how this all started and explains that the entire premise of it was made up in Khan cocked and and what is B. S. it could never have been otherwise it could not have been substantive ever this was one of the biggest hoaxes that was that was configured to and strong on the American people in our lifetimes and maybe beyond but the fact is that this book is conversational am very rational about it it's it's calm it's not filled with histrionics it's not filled with what you would think is is simply partisanship as a reason this is a call me cruel legal dice section of this entire fraudulent effort if you want to become conversant in every aspect of this this hoax that matters if you want to be the one in your family that has the answers to any question anybody would ask you about this in this book is a must not only for that it's just if folks it's fun to read it because it will confirm much of what your instincts of told you has gone on it will confirm what much of what has been explained but it blows this thing to smithereens it blows this entire collusion there never was any there was never any evidence of any collusion there was no reason for an investigation and yet they have one how did they do it Andy McCarthy explains it in ball of confusion the plaque to rig an election and destroy a presidency but let me tell you what's unique about this one yes I just told you there have been a lot of books about and I'm not I'm not saying that those previous books missed the point they all had their their own premise they all have their own objectives this context the context of ball of confusion is something that I haven't seen in a book yet it starts with the premise that Obama politicized the intelligence agencies of this country that Barack Obama and the hierarchy of his administration politicized law enforcement for eight years McCarthy demonstrates none of this could have happened were it not for figures in the Obama administration high ranking figures in the Obama administration this wise the politicization of the department of justice by a sitting president of the United.

"Mahler repudiating answers he had given Lasko in the afternoon so in the afternoon special counsel Mahler had to take back what he testified to representative lashed out and that of course destroys the credibility of a witness Debbie Lesko join me on Thursday morning on my show what was that like yesterday because I actually felt bad for the special counsel them was encouraging Republicans online in the afternoon to lay off of them because it was over it with a if it was a fight they would have stopped it yeah the I was very surprised eat I had never met Mr Miller before it talked with him before so I quite honestly was very surprised he seemed disoriented I'm not sure what was going on there but that was surprising well if you are a very experienced legislator you've seen a lot of people testify this is not your first rodeo in terms of watching witnesses so when you found him to be completely not what you expected that's why you were surprised I gather that definitely is why I was surprised at first I thought maybe he was doing it to kill time or something like that because you know he he had to longer read to me and and so I I was quite surprised very basic questions he had trouble answering me and it didn't matter if it was from the Republican questioner Democrat question people would read from the report and then he hit out at the end of today is that correct or something to that effect and he really struggled he would say could you repeat that I'll have to get back to you know things like that I mean it I'm not sure what was happening there but it was obvious he was struggling when you left to die as she and you take breaks the doctor colleagues what were what were you saying to each other about special counsel Mahler I don't think we talked a lot X. I talked to some people and we basically all noticed the same thing and I thought we better not dive into them to you hard because he was definitely struggling with but so you did these off of them because I did not want him be not by Republicans I I thought it was it was not fair to him he was clearly out of his depth and and feeble actually did you did the word evil come up the words people did not come up in in life circle of who I talked to but again it was I I'm not sure what was happening I don't know if you didn't get any sleep I don't know if he was stressed out I'm not sure what was happening but it was very obvious into the people that were watching them he was having a heart he was struggling and this is something I did not expect I expected somebody that was going to be really on top of their game and and coming back at us the math type of thing now the thing I I want to stress that I I tweeted about it well I was watching the testimony you said do I'm looking just told Ted little and you're talking a special counsel Mahler that you did not indict the president because of the I'll see opinion but on may twenty nine year office said that wasn't the case and he confirmed you that that's what he said but then three hours later he withdrew his testimony were you watching in the afternoon when he basically conceded your point when I heard what he said to his they answer to Mr Lou the Democrat I knew that I had to respond to that because that was just a huge statement that I I knew that Mr Miller was confused about his answer or something again that was my intention and I wanted to set it straight so then congresswoman Lasko you've been there for that you've been watching this for a year now what happens next are we don can we all go home now and just say there is no there there no collusion no conspiracy no obstruction we're done done done well I think for the American people were done done done but unfortunately I watched it too closely my Democrat colleagues that Mister Nadler is just absurd absolutely I cannot describe it any other way some of my Democrat colleagues it means a lot of them make specially judiciary are about undermining the president of the United States in impeaching and they just it's like a rabid animal or something they cannot give mind anything else except taking out the president it is it's it's really hurting the American public.

"Mahler said yesterday during my questioning at the intelligence committee that no this was not a one time thing abide by the Russians and that they're probably doing it while we were sitting there yeah so the Chinese so the north Koreans Israel's going to do it because Israel is that's what they spy on us for god sakes I mean we all spy on each other it's very incestuous world we live in Russia is going to do it again Iran will do it so there's going to be a lot of nations that will have their say in this and it's just how do we get forward but remember a lot of what quote unquote was you know well I think we take it too far when they told they talk about the election hacking because no votes were changed nothing was changed what it was was it was submerged it was the slowly but surely we're gonna get in there and we're going to you we're gonna get you guys off talking about certain things we're gonna divide you guys we're gonna make that you know there's already a bit of a division right because it's red blue but we're gonna we're gonna really highlight those things we're gonna really do some stuff that's gonna be crazy and that's a lot of what was both sides got it right the right and the left so what are we gonna do to stop it well first of all we as a group need to understand that Lauren this is what it is we've got to understand what it is we can understand what's going on out there and I'm not and I will continue to tell everybody this as you move forward we get closer and closer you know to first of all going to the primaries with the Democrats and then on to the general election for the for it if you're serious about information you will seek out information to find out if it's true if you're not serious then you don't care right you just gonna go with whatever is that fits the narrative that you want I think too often the not well look no more certain things because I don't want to hear that there's another side to the story that may contradict what's going on out there so that's a lot of what it is as well so it makes it easier to divide something that's already divide three two three five three eight twenty four twenty three ads habits and shows your Twitter between that Esther well love talking to every single one you I find this interesting search for trust tweeting all day about a sec rocky jail still in Sweden and other talking about him and what exactly took place and I do find this to be interesting with the fact that he felt some of this the platinum artist has maintained hardest has he acted in self defense posting video moments before the mailing where you can hear rocky repeatedly told the two young men to back all the two men involved in the street fight with rocky and his crew have criminal records and are not in custody prosecutors now revealing they will come face to face with rocky when they testify at trial yeah so they followed him they got in his face he found.

"Want to feel bad for Mahler okay he was used by the entire hyper partisan team that apparently was hired by Andrew Weissmann but a lot of to happen you know the end the fact they didn't show up for the interviews the fact that he didn't know about fusion GPS the fact that he just ignored the dirty Russian dossier that we know was leaked prior to the election in twenty sixteen the lies that were told and and leak to conspiracy theorists and hacks that never did their due diligence lead among them Michael is a cough they got David corn that you got you know of course the ever so liberal Washington post leaking thirty dot CA information it's spreading like wildfire trump sex workers urinating bad Moscow rates you know what who knew what when that was the type of crap that was in the dossier and then the dossier get site we find out it's unverifiable a Russian dossier bought and paid for by Hillary Clinton the same Ellery Clinton that we know because the evidence is overwhelming and incontrovertible violated the espionage act with top secret classified emails on a private server in a bathroom closet that's a clear we have Christian saucy went to jail for a year or six photos violating the espionage act of his working area in the suffering that he shared with nobody a year in jail away from his mom his wife and his kid really is that equal justice in America that equal application of our laws in the United States of America I don't think so and and and really now we're gonna have a situation where you know we're gonna talk about obstruction of justice really okay but we're not going to have an opinion on whether to subpoena the emails that are purposely deleted after they were subpoenaed hang on a second I'll get to that in a second Linda thank you but that subpoena the mails better believe it so Peter the emails that a white clean with acid wash bleach bit where in a bus stop the devices with hammers provide the lawyer sitting right next to but the for the buster upper you know next to Muller today I'm it's unbelievable and we're not doesn't know about man then the dirty dossier used as a war to spy on the trump campaign from transition to bludgeon then president trump two and a half years he doesn't know about fusion GPS and he doesn't know about it and no interest in the Russian dossier that the F. B. I. figured out ninety plus percent of it was false in their own spreadsheets and they knew that early twenty seventeen James call me signs it it's unverifiable but it says on top of the warrant verified now we know why the nine and a half minutes I told your disaster were so bad now we know why he didn't want to testify you know about play this letter it's like a scene from my cousin Vinny Vinny you know how many fingers am I holding up.

B. I. director with me the day before he was appointed special counsel I hope you didn't say that under oath because we have numerous witnesses to the interview including the vice president now mother didn't say I don't think he knew what he was answering and again I know some of you think that he's taking this this being a doddering old man and I will take that under advisement but I think a lot of stuff he doesn't know what he's being asked at Logan happens fox I hope somebody grabs a hook and gets me out of here before this happens to me what do you what are you shaking your head at in there well I know it would never happen to me but it happens to some people you know I I didn't look but but anyway he was literally Ashley you you didn't apply for the job if we are not I interviewed but are normal well I even though this is out there to prove you know I did not apply and trump says that hell he didn't he did apply he did interview and I turned them down and the next day he takes the special counsel gag and from saying I hope you didn't say this under oath there is an implied threat there that if he said this under oath phenomena produce I'm a produced some some witnesses Graham sound bite what city yeah somebody number two yeah we have here a montage from this morning of Mahler and his answers now some of you might think this is unfair but it isn't we do this with a lot of people we prepare montage is we've done it with Hillary and how she can't remember things this is just a collection of attempts my mother to answer you know series of questions from both Republicans and Democrats we I had the outset came to the president's culpability we needed to we need to we need to go well fed the president was not the president was not as coping actual paid and I would say you I couldn't have the statement would be to that you would not indict a sitting president she's we cannot be indicted I take it let me take that back I I would have to look I would have to check in the end of the week could you repeat that please that went a little fast for me insufficient evidence on pardon you're going to repeat that and I leave it with the report can you repeat the question can you read the last question well I have an egg and can you repeat the question can you repeat the question and I remember cannot remember it that would be I refer you to the report judge outside the purview if you're ever for your report well I just read the report well and I know the owners as well as their parents into pretty accurate pretty accurate as it it's it's in your report I just read it well the minute that yeah right away I just came across a story by an info Babe at salon dot com the headline Robert Maulers reticence and eloquent case for impeaching trump Robert Muller was terse indirect and reluctant that's exactly why Congress must begin an impeachment inquiry not hardly delusion white folks precisely because Mahler wise sold doddering and so out of it and so you'll prepared is the exact reason why we've gotta go forward with impeachment we will take a break here bottom of the hour break coming up and.

S. federal prosecutor David Weinstein has a prediction I think it's going to start off and conclude as partisan theater the Democrats are going to be asking certain questions to expand the scope of what they hope is going to be an impeachment proceeding ABC Serena Marshall joins us live from Capitol Hill good morning cerita we now know that molar as we just said will not be alone during his testimony what's the role of his former chief of staff would just say deadly is his former chief of staff as you mentioned he's also the deputy special counsel so he was overseeing the day to day operations of the special counsel investigation and it's not unusual for somebody testified before the house have their council president now the question became a whether or not you'd be sworn in as he was sworn in that he could answer questions still molars known to be a stickler for the rules and I think that's where some of this concern came over as to whether or not have him in having him sworn in and join in on some of those answers but in his current role sitting next to the council it'll allow mall or to confer with him before answering these questions to make sure he has the time line information correct so we understand the DOJ is given a letter to Miller saying this what you can and cannot do and I guess kind of keep it between the lines so do use that mean you think we hear a lot of answers from other saying just go to the report and read the report I think it whether or not that letter from the DOJ with center that is something that we could have expected from Robert Muller remember when he spoke before those cameras a couple months ago he said the report is my testimony and he was hoping that would be the last word he would have on the report publicly band members on Capitol Hill wanted to hear him before him answer questions and so we could expect him to refer back to that in fact April Marty we have learned of both parties had actual mock hearing prepare for death and so does source inside the Democrats say they were framing many other questions so that Mahler would answer yes or no because that is what they expect out of him in that way getting other questions framed in a way to have that one word answer actually means something ABC Serena Marshall from Capitol Hill thank you it's a big morning out there in Washington thank you yeah ride we know that much about how to you guys has arrived there right knee begins testifying about thirty five minutes it is eight four or five fifty five I should say good morning mortgage applications are down again that's despite a drop in interest rates the mortgage bankers association reports overall applications down.

"What the Mahler report we we talk about how the Muller report was a gigantic wind out of the sales event for the Democrats but it was devastating for the never Trumper still do not doubt for a minute that that never droppers here were totally invested in the mall a report just like the Democrats were the degree of resentment for trump is just as high in the never trappers Larry Hogan the former governor of Maryland Republican told the Washington examiner he received enthusiastic encouragement from Republican thinkers donors and elected officials there wasn't a ground swell among the average Republican primary voter Hogan said they seem to be at this point very happy with he will open a report would devastate drop but this guy at least has the ability to see that Republican voters are not unhappy with drummer thanks it's just the exact opposite Republican voters are unhappy with the never troubles and the majority of Republican voters are unhappy with the never drummers and look at a sellout and are asking that what ever done for us anyway they've asked us to subscribe to their publications they're taking us on our cruises they've done all of this made us think that we that are the reason conservative policy is going to be implemented but yet ask yourself when was the last time any conservative policy was actually implemented it's talked about all the time there's a lot of great conservatives talk conservatism on television every day all the when the last time it was implemented I mean real conservatism when you got when you get down to the truth about that conservatism is kind of like abstinence it works every time it's tried which is why the left cannot abide to either one if you understand from having sex is a teenager you're not gonna get pregnant abstinence works every time it's tried you point you can't say that that's that's sophomoric that's not realistic well it's not it's not unrealistic it's it's totally factually correct the same thing with conservatism it works every time it's implemented the point is it never gets implemented there are people talk about it they promise it they encourage it when the pedal meets the road rubber meets the road it never ends up being ample except one truck comes along and various elements of conservatism do happen to get employment and look what happens when they don't look at the economy look at unemployment including among minorities African Americans and Hispanics conservatism works it's the natural order of things conservatives and you know what the best definition of conservatism is it's not I saw a piece yet and I'm not going to mention an oops to saw the clock I saw a piece the other day I don't want to mention any names because I I don't I don't really want to get into feuds with these people is not worth that's not what I do when I saw this long piece in a magazine that attempted to define the think five different strains of conservatism that there are right now and I'm reading this and of course I with my superior intellect experience understand it all but I'm reading this if you're the average ordinary American conservative doesn't care about any of this is not even relevant conservatism is not this complicated conservatism is the American founding the concept that we have a government that limits we have an arrangement that limits the government not empowers it that was president making and earth shattering at the time that it happened and people trying to undo it ever since it happened a brief time out sit tight we'll be back with more just doesn't hold back the news you need to know Russia V. I just can't imagine myself being in that position going. I'm not going to see this person. Get Justice sore that not happen. I would I guess for me would be. I'm not gonna see my granddaughter walked down the aisle. Or graduate college graduate high school or something? Yeah. I mean, call me old fashioned. This was actually a story. Yeah. Well, here's my question. They write it as if it's a huge number or a significant number of people. I'd like to know exactly how many they found. Well, yeah. To three hundred twenty million people out there. You're going to have two or three that have a thought that maybe outside the mainstream is that news. Right. I would be I might be looking back at my life thinking look at how many great things I was able to see during my lifetime. You know, for me, it would be hair bans, Facebook, Instagram. Let me ask you this. Are there are there as many people did they check to find out if there's elderly people out there that are on the verge of dying or in hospice care that are waiting to see if the inspector general finds anything on Hillary, right? We're those reports being done or if the are they are there are there are people in hospice awaiting to see if President Trump releases and declassified is the department of Justice and FBI texts and emails and the FIS a warrant application to find out whether those in the Obama administration.
