"This is one of the songs that is part of the Broadway musical rock of ages, which you may not have even known. It was here. I didn't hear a lot about it. But it's going to be at the Mahalia Jackson theater tomorrow night. And there's a Sunday afternoon matinee tickets are still on sale for that. It's the story of a small town girl from Oklahoma moving to Los Angeles. And she meets a local rocker and the music features the eighties rock of journey whitesnake pad banner tar poison twisted sister. Night ranger and many more what artist or band from the eighties. Best defines the eighties for you. And when you think about music from the eighties, and you think about fashion from the eighties. Do you think more about the glam? Give us your opinion by going to our website dot com and featuring throughout the show where featuring a bumper music from the musical Brockovich. I've never seen it. I can't wait to see it. I'm interested in this. And you know, eighty seven was an interesting time mid eighties. Very very interesting time, and they were clearly two kinds of two kinds of there was two genres of music in the eighties. I mean more than that. But there were two main ones one of them was that that British invasion since pop stuff, which is played at eighties nights around the country. You know, the Madonna's and the human league's and the. The cure and Depeche mode and all those and then there were the big hair bands from America. Like, Bon Jovi and twisted sister, which best defines the eighties for you. If you want to join us, our numbers, two six zero one eight seventy and our text is eight seventy eight seventy and for those of you who don't know this. If you're listening out of town area code is five oh four. Here's a Texas says David Bowie and Devaux those were two very prominent figures in the eighties. "Remember what happens on the weekend? Never stays on the weekend. We make sure that we're talking about what happened over the weekend. Monday afternoon, wonderful four and also we'll be talking about the stories that are making news as we begin a new week together. Glad you're with us. We've got the daily Facebook video is up on our Facebook page WWL radio, titled simply w t f seriously it's about the saints, and you can become part of that conversation. It's also posted on the Esotique screwed on the air Facebook page, and I want to remind you that you know, you can you can be in contact with me, and I do post things over the weekend. Sometimes they're their videos, but if you're not a friend on my Facebook page, it's business. I can't find you back as a business page. I can't find you back. I don't really understand all the technical aspects of that. But you know, I keep in touch with you. If you keep in touch with me, and you can also send me a personal messages on Facebook. It's. Scoot on the air Esotique that is also my Instagram account. And hopefully, there'll be a lot going on this weekend. I'm going to play back a conversation. I had with Chris Daughtry Daughtry was in concert last night, even admits it was a tough night to to play a concert at the mail you Jackson theater because of the saints Cowboys game. But hey, a lot of people wish they would have been Daughtry last night instead of watching the game. But you know, I talked about how a Chris he didn't win American idol. But he won the bigger price of being a rockstar. And I welcomed him. Yeah. We'll just go to interview. You I welcomed him to the show. Hey, how you doing? I'm good. You know, you you prove that that you can be a winner by not actually winning American idol. And I think you are the third most successful person to come from American idol only behind Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. That's what they tell me. I don't ever I try not to get caught up in the labels and the in the. But yeah, it's pretty flattering. And and it it certainly worked out for me. I never it's weird. I never intended to win anyway. But you know, it it it certainly certainly worked out. So here you are. You're you're you're a guy in just I guest in some ways an average life, and you have the American idol and you don't win. But how did it feel when when just somebody somebody got in touch with you after you got the retention? I mean, it was pretty flattering. I mean, the fact that anyone knew my name, I thought was was that was all very new to me at that time before that it was you know, before that I pull up at a drive through and they'd be like, oh, you will bend eagle, and then it turned into hey author. I thought that was like a nice nice shifts in notoriety. But yeah, it was it was really cool. I didn't expect that at all. It was just a prize and. After that it would. In addition to being recognized. What was the other biggest change that you noticed in your life? When you suddenly started to to reach this celebrity status. I mean, I think the fact that that I wasn't working a day job anymore was huge. That was that was certainly a big change for me. I'd been working since I was fourteen you know, just. Dreaming of of being on a stage. And and and getting to do what I loved as a as a form of job, you know. And and now I get to do that. And that's that's still have to remind myself about on a daily basis what I get exhausted or higher and my boys her or whatever I'm like, man, I'm one of the lucky ones. Dodger your debut album was the fastest selling debut album in the history of the records being kept by Nielsen it sold over one million copies in five weeks after release it hit number one on the billboard chart your second album debuted at number one on the billboard chart and your song. It's not over was nominated for for a Grammy. You had great success. Yeah. That was a that was a bit of a whirlwind of a year. It was kind of. Kind of. Tough to navigate after that. Just because you think you know, when that all happened so fast, you think that's the the norm. You think that's just going to always happen? So I it was it was quite a shock when when things didn't exactly go that way with would with the following records. But you know, I I guess you gotta roll with the punches of the record industry and helping change. And but yeah, I think that was a bit of a surprise to me help I hear you were happened on that I record a singer and musician in local bands. And so now, you get the shot on on American idol, you end up working with people like slash Vince, Gill Carlos Santana, Chad Kroeger man that must have been surreal. It was. And I I remember. Just the sheer. I was I was quite surprised that slash agreed to do it. And then I was at the studio, and I remember in walking up with retarget out of his car, and he had a baseball cap while you're just a normal, dude. Oh. You can occur your guitar. Just like fish out of water. You know? And so, yeah, I look back at this moment. Like, they never read it even happened h they feel like a dream almost. Well, when I was watching I was watching American idol intently, the euro in the years before that I've I didn't continue to wash it over time. But I remember thinking that you had this certain star quality about you. When there was there was kind of a soft roughness about it. But there was something very appealing about it. And I wasn't sure you were going to win. But I was pretty sure that you were going to become something in the business. Oh, well, thank you very much. I appreciate up. Chris. You know, you've got some competition tonight because the saints are playing the Cowboys on Thursday night football. I know I know we pick the terrible day. But you know, they will be fans are we gave away tickets on the show. And you just have a great time. I wanna ask you one other question because I know that when your life changes sometimes your life really does change. How did the almost instant success affects your marriage? You know, we we're still great. There's definitely there's definitely been some just like with any marriage. Anybody who's been married? Eighteen years. You're gonna go through the ups and downs of life. And and and we've had our fair share of issues just like any married couple. But the difference is you you make that commitment and to be on this journey together. And you. Forgive you you love, and you you support each other through the the journey that you're on individually and together, and I think we've we've done pretty pretty awesome with that. Eighteen years ago. I mean, look, I'm really impressed. That says so much about your character that you you know, you went through this. And you went through all of the temptations that go along with with with that. And I would. And and and you're still married. I think that is very very admirable. Well, thank you very much. I appreciate that. Chris have a great show tonight. I enjoyed our conversation. And again, if there are a few empty seats is only because the saints are playing the the the Cowboys tonight on Thursday night football. But you'll have you'll have a great crowd. And they and they will love every minute. They will love every minute of it. Absolutely. This is our first time playing in New Orleans. So we're we're very excited. All right Daughtry tonight at the Mahalia Jackson theater. Tickets are still on sale. Chris thanks for being with us on WWL. Okay. Obviously that was done yesterday. You play back from the conversation. I had yesterday. So it was about the concert which was last night. And it was about it was about conversations just. Got kind of taken out of context..

"Seventy or join WWL radio on Facebook. We're back, and we're talking to Jeff Palermo wwLcom columnists in Louisiana network. News director, Jeff let me ask you something. One thing that kind of scares me a little bit Alabama. Twenty six sacks for one hundred and fifty three sack yards and twelve interceptions. We're going to have to buy a little time for Joe borough. Well, that's the key. I mean last year going into the game at orange Ron said that was a priority to give protection, Danny outlaying. And Atlanta times had some opportunities to make some place down field wasn't able to do it. Borough has shown the ability at times that he he can throw that pass it one the Tigers really need it. If borough was running for his life in this game. It's going to be a long day and this LSU on. Offensive line has been hot and cold all season lock. And obviously they've had a lot of different guys shuffled in and out because of injuries. It's good to see that Garrett. Brumfield? We'll be back in there. Most likely or at least anticipated at start or see significant snaps in the game. But if that'll line cannot if they cannot protect protect your borough and also provide some running room for quite Edwards healer, Nick, bro. Said it's gonna be a long day. I think LSU's offensive line when they've gone up against Alabama. And during a seven game losing streak for the most part Alabama's whipped him. And and one of the priorities that coach Ron has wanted to do wanted to do when he took over was to approve their talent level along the trenches. And I think that's still a work in progress. I mean that takes you know, three four or five years sometimes to really develop a great offensive line. And I mean, there's some good pieces there, but it's not to the level where I think. The I think we're as far as the talent wise goes it. It's not worth coach Awasa. But that's something that he's trying to get to. But they won't have it to the Saturday. So those guys gotta play very well against a good Alabama defense. Jeff one of the things that was critical. I think in a couple of the games this years. We've had good tight end play foster Moro going downfield and making some clutch catches for first downs. Yeah. And it's there's been a lot put on foster moral the season. I mean, they went into the season with three tight ends and two of them haven't played at all this year because season ending injuries. So foster moral has really had a pick up a lot of the slack. And I think they would like to use them more in the passing game because he he is such a good receiver. But they also need him as a blocker. And we just talked about some of the issues that the offensive line has had the season. He's had a help with pass protection a lot of time. So, but he's a guy that I mean, this is a senior he's a team leader. I got at you. And he's got one more shot here against Alabama U N -ticipant he'll play a really good game on Saturday night. And they they might he he'll probably have a couple opportunities makes employees once he catches it. Crystal ball. Stuff. I mean, I I I mean you get swept up in the purple. He's got a chance. I think I I like Alabama. They they got more talent. But if LSU could somehow follows similar recipe to what they did against Georgia. Get an early lead. Maybe have something happen to Alabama early in that game. That puts a little doubt in her head like it occurred with georgiana the fake field goal attempt that didn't work out for them. Absolutely. And and keep it fifty fifty on offense. And they gotta hit some deep balls in this game that gotta they gotta hit some big plays. And but I think to is just a guy that is very good. And it's not just because you think going up against less than mediocre defense. I'll be sitting on my sofa yelling and screaming at the tube. Jeff. Thank you so much looking forward to the game. Thanks a lot have a great weekend. If you want to win a family pack, a four tickets to experience the L P O's musical Led Zeppelin. Randy Jackson on November third and Mahalia Jackson theater. We're going to have archbishop Gregory aim and joining us they released the list, he promised the lists. And on the blue runner opinion poll says who's going to win this weekend both LSU and saints eighty six percent of the respondents saying both will win this weekend. It's gonna be a tough game. Great game. I mean, you just could not have asked for bigger football weekend. The Knicks weekend LSU in Alabama number one, Alabama and number three LSU gone toe-to-toe and tiger stadium death valley. Jeff Palermo joins me wwLcom calmness in Louisiana network. News director, Jeff as always pleasure to have you. Join us on the show. How you doing today? I actually cannot sit in my chair long enough. I am so looking forward to Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. I could scream. Yeah. It's it's amazing. How this is kind of a setup to have these two huge contests to undefeated teams coming into Louisiana and respective teams here trying to knock them off. So we we go into tiger stadium. Big point spread. That's a little demoralizing. But by the same token, it may be something that kinda gets the team a little angry. Don't you think you would think it's it's just some more motivation for this team and a team that's kind of liked playing the disrespect card all the relating entire season. Now, they were disrespected during the SEC media days when they were picked to finish fifth, man. Think about that. Now knoll I mean, they were picked to finish fifth in the SEC west. And then they were underdogs going into the game against Miami. Nobody gave them a shot against Auburn. They win there. So nobody gave them a shot a couple of weeks ago when they hosted at that time number two Georgia, and they beat them. So this team has done really. Well, when it's told it can't do something that can't win, and they seem to thrive off of that motivation. So what is Nick Sabin? Done to overcome that this weekend. He's always got a little trick up his sleeve. You know? Well, I'm sure he's he's practiced guy saying, you know, hey, you there's a lot of people disrespecting Alabama bet especially in east parts anyways. A lot of people saying, hey, they haven't played anyone there ain't no they're just putting up these numbers against some of the worst defenses in college football. I would think Nick Sabin is telling his team it's time for you guys to go out there and prove that you are truly the number one ranked team you're a two touchdown favorite for a reason. Go out there and play like it. So I would think he knows that. There's there's there's people disrespecting his program. Well, I think the other thing he's he's talked about this week. The fact that this is different type of LLC team the ones that they've beaten over the last few years going back to two thousand eleven a lot more to prepare for one. You're going up against this LSU offense since their balance. They got a quarterback that can make clutch plays. I got two different running backs. They can give the ball to that can make plays and moved chains while they they do and got a variety of wide receivers. They can get the ball to. So it's not like what they've done the last four or five times one last miles took an LSU team up against Alabama where they just try to. Wanda ball and keep it close and hope to win in the fourth quarter. And a lot of times less miles was successful. And keeping it close. They just were never able to windows games. The last few times that he was steady faced them LSU. I think it's going to be much more aggressive on Saturday night. Kind of like what you saw a couple of weeks ago against Georgia. What on when it came to be fourth and short they were going forward. I I would think LSU will be that aggressive and looking to to go for it on fourth and one maybe not go for settle for a field goal takes more shots and try to get six instead of three because you're going to need touchdown. So beat this team. Yeah. You know? And I said this is one of the last games that you, and I talked I think LSU needs a score. I I I think they do much better when they get some points on the board and kinda just shakes off summit attention, and they seem to play a lot more relaxed. Well, they have had a lot of success going I or scoring early. I think that was the key against Georgia. I think that was even though they had a rally to win against Auburn. That was a key there by me, they set the tone there as well. Alabama has done a tremendous job. They have scored on all their opening drives the season. Done it in three four five plays. I mean, they they don't take off L mess around. They have been scoring at an unbelievable clip all season long. This is kind of an interesting game knoll that a lot of times when he went he opening coin toss you you elect to wait till the second half to receive the ball. But considering that you don't have Devon white in the first half. I think this is a game where if you do win the toss. Yeah. They get the ball first. And see if he can't score on Alabama. The big question that everybody has going into a lot of questions. But one question I think for Alabama how do they respond when they face a little adversity. This current group of players has not faith any kind of Versi at all this season. So what happens one they're actually trailing a game? And how do they respond to that in a hostile environment? The hope is is that they crumble a little bit like Georgia did a couple of weeks ago. That would be nice. Can you stay with me through the break? Sure. Can't all righty. We're going to get to a break here. How would you like to relive the music of Led Zeppelin WWL has your tickets today is your last chance to win a family four-pack of tickets? "That's a big problem with your party. It's not a question of my way, or no way or Republicans way. Or no way just that. We're these are issues that are brought up that that from an operational standpoint in the enforcement of immigration laws that they become issues in their ways for people to work the system in the status that the law presents itself today that they can achieve things that maybe we didn't contemplate that. That's what we wanted or that's what was desired for them to be able to do it that way. And another tech said, well, you know, you're not talking about Milania Trump's parents coming in through chain migration. The issue is allowing folks that come here illegally to utilize chain migration. Not folks who come legally by utilizing chain migration. And that was the issue. Let's go line one. Is it Alina? Hello. Yes. Elena. Yes. Just for taking my call. I'm fine. Thank you. I'd like to practice. My comments by saying that I am a legal immigrants. I've been here a number of years. And also I'd like to say that I report Donald Trump and the wall, and and and the whole issue in that way. However, I don't hear anyone talking about helping to solve the problem because Americans are hiring those illegal. That's a big part of the problem. And I don't hear anyone addressing that issue. Well, we've we've talked about it several times on this show, and and ice says enforcement activities in in that regard, in fact, so much so in California they pass laws to prohibit ice from walking onto private property in checking. Folks status and then a prohibited. The company owners from cooperating with ice. So I mean, that's the tug of war to push pull at Wayne right now is that they don't want any of the laws on the books relative. And then you have sanctuary cities that are just really snub nose to the federal authority and say, we're not cooperating with you at all. And we're going to make it illegal for anybody who works for the city to cooperate with you. Right. I understand that. And I do know about California, and they they sanctuary cities, but still even in my own area that I'm in. I see it everywhere. I see them everywhere in weight and good upstanding citizens. Hiring illegal of because they can get the work done cheaper. You know, it's that way. And and that's why they want to get to e verify and e-verify in an automated fashion to be able to determine because right now, they're supposed to ask for an I nine, you know, that they have the authority to be in the country in the thorny to work, you know, and they want to be able to automate this whole process, but once again, congress can't come together on this issue and make it easy for my brothers and sisters in law enforcement that are doing a bang-up job as well as they can do an office and they put their lives at risk because then they don't want to make their job any easier any given day of any week of any year. And it's a shame because they're risking their lives for you me and everybody else would enable basically tied both hands behind their backs. Absolutely. You're absolutely right and e-verify could just get that done would be such a good help. I would help a lot. I don't understand the big the big challenge here from an operational standpoint. And make sense. You know in in any number of thing. It's the same thing when we talk about voter fraud. I mean, why can't we have like a national voter ID card or something? I mean, what is the problem? And that way, we don't have to argue about these issues anymore and an issue elemental way issue in a way that we can validate in make it easy for people to get and everything else and funded and get it over with it, it just absolutely ridiculous that we have to go through this argument all the time and purging this and challenging that ended up in the courts. Just let's figure out a way that we can all identify ourselves because we needed anyway, the so much identity identity theft right now, it would work in our benefit. If we got our hands around this particular issue. Yes. Absolutely. All righty. Thank you so much for calling. I just want to remind everybody that you have a chance to win Led Zeppelin tickets. "And I'll give you the cue to call in and win experienced the music of Led Zeppelin by the L P O with Randy Jackson at the Mahalia Jackson theater, Saturday, November third at seven thirty PM. It's a whole lot of love from WWL. Let's go to the talk lines line. One talk to leeann l- applause. What say you lay? Hey, lady, her whole foundation named is kind of ridiculous. Freedom from religion. It's patient out there. It's Fremont religion freedom from it. And this whole separation of church and state thing that's been. That's been missing true for the longest time for congress. I'll make no establishment of religion. Meaning you can't have a church of England church like that here. You can't say, well, this is our religion. It doesn't mean you can't have religion in the public square. Specifically says Paris, I'll make no law establishing want, correct. That have been wrongly interpreted every single point the point that she was trying to make was that in nineteen fifty four a congressional act provided allowing a minister of the gospel to exclude from his gross income, the rental allowance paid to him as part of his compensation, and I listen, I agree that it's been abused. I think she's going for the the low hanging fruit. So to speak with these mega church pastors, which I think everyone will agree. So that's how you get people on your side. Right. She's being a little bit. A little bit overly political talking about. Well, there's Trump appointee. So there's no point, you know. So I mean, if that was the case where Republicans always doing something on favorite, then we wouldn't have here. So I think I think you're using something that most people will agree on and I'm not overly religious. I don't go to church. I mean, I I believe in what I believe. But I believe those things help out four passengers more than they do the mega church once which that should be looked at right? You know, you should have to have some kind of tap for some kind of something to where it's intended to help out low income pastors because religion churches were viewed as a part of our culture, not one church over over another just having Satan that the overall that's a good thing. Dr exceptions to everything. Political in a whole idea of freedom from religion. There is no doubt that she's she's got she's got her agenda, and and her organization, and and it could very well be atheists for all I know. I didn't ask it's not any concern. I was just interested in this section of the internal revenue code. And what your thoughts were another people's.
