Desperate for Oil, Biden Turns To Venezuela

"If you haven't heard the news yet, the vitamin administration is now going to allow Chevron big American oil company to pump oil out of Venezuela. So what's unusual about that, you might say, is, well, the fact that we had previously been sanctioning Venezuela because we have repeatedly accused the regime there of being a dictatorship. You see, we have recognized a totally different politician and totally different guy Huang Guaido as the real president of Venezuela. So now we're doing a deal with Nicolas Maduro. And the reason we're doing it, let's be honest, is because we have to. We absolutely have to. I am a realist and I've said all along, it really hasn't made a ton of sense to treat Venezuela like such an enemy in light of the fact that they're so close to us. I mean, let's just go back to the Monroe doctrine for a second, right? They're right here in our hemisphere. You're talking a few hours from Florida and for some reason we've treated them in a more hostile way than we treated Russia until recently. In a more hustle way than we've treated countries like Iran. So why the change now? What's so special about this moment in time? Well, oil prices are through the roof. And it just so happens that this week they're likely going to go even higher because now these sanctions we are putting on European countries and others Vis-à-vis Russia, they're going to go into effect. And that means you're going to have even less energy on the market. And so what do they do? Well, they get all this oil sitting down there in Venezuela, and it's getting sold anyway, frankly, illegally on the black market. I've walked you through this whole triangle before. Because you're a Caribbean island where they switch the flags on the ships, and then those container ships filled with oil, go over to Asia where again, they switch the flags and then they go eventually to China. My sources have walked me through this and I've walked you through this. The oil is making its way onto the global market in one way form or another.

"Us. My sources have walked me through this and I've walked you through this. The oil is making its way onto the global market in one way form or another. And so now the Biden administration has just woken up to the idea that, hey, you know, this stuff is there any way we get these American companies, they could go back into business there. Let's make it work. Of course, it's all under the pretense of we're doing this because we're trying to restore democracy in Venezuela and therefore we want to encourage them to meet with the opposition. That would be Juan Guaido and company. They want to encourage this chat between Maduro and Guaido. Great. I mean, call it whatever you want. But let's just get back to the root cause of the problem. Shall we? Use a Kamala Harris expression. Remember that the root cause of why we have so many people migrating to the United States illegally over the border? Well, the root cause of this oil issue, this economic issue, this inflation issue for all of us here in the United States is that we have not thought strategically about our energy supply. If we were thinking strategically about our energy supply, I guess what we would be doing a whole lot more here. And I get it. You know what? A lot of companies I'll give them this. A lot of companies said, well, we don't really want to. Because we run the risk that oil prices go way down, just like they did during March 2020. Yeah. But it's made doubly hard by the reality that the Biden administration doesn't want to renew any leases. So when those leases come up, it's much harder. And thus, if you are an investor in the energy sector, if you are an oil company, do you really want to be in such treacherous territory where you don't know if you're going to get that lease? Or you put all this money in and who the heck knows if you'll ever get any money out? They have done so much damage. With all of their rhetoric and their lack of planning that they now find themselves, frankly, going hat in hand to these two bit dictatorship, you know, when I'm being cruel, Franklin Maduro, right now, you know, these places that they used to not like, even Robert Menendez, senator from New Jersey. He's having a hard time with this. I've always said, you know, he ought to get a little bit more on board, just the practicality of this in that this country is close to us, and we should have a good relationship with them. And we should have a source of oil there, just as we should have a source of oil here. I'd rather be reliant on somebody there in our hemisphere than way over in the Middle East, but even Robert Menendez is troubled a bit by this. And while he's putting a sunny face on things, there are a lot of people, even within the Democrat party that question it. What I would just say is the right to question it, but we ought to be questioning the entire philosophy around all of this stuff. You know, in a more holistic way, because we need energy. And we need to be self reliant. We need our own stuff, okay? And whether you want to make it green or whether you want to make it the traditional stuff, I don't care. Just make sure we have it. And then once you're confident in that, you know what, you can sprinkle a little in from the likes of Venezuela, and Canada, and hopefully more countries in places that we have more in common with culturally than some of these other places in the world..

"Let's start by talking about the midterms. Wow. The weekend, then election and coming up really just a few days from now Tuesday. And I must say I'm feeling pretty good about it. As I do the book promotion with 2000 meals, people are like, do you feel the election will be secure? And I say, yeah, no, I think the awareness that was brought about by the movie and the book is going to help a lot. Well, well, you know, I think, and even going further than that, I think that if it wasn't going our way, I don't think Biden would have done that speech. That very divisive speech that he did that reminded me of the ugo Chavez Maduro speeches. Because what do they do when they feel like the opposition is entrapping? Yeah, oh, is gaining ground? They have to demonize them. They have to shut them down. They have to teach them a lesson. And they have to they have to act like their conspiracy theorists, and they should never be trusted, as citizens. And what happens with Biden is he says something dark divisive, outrageous, which is that essentially the opposition party is against democracy. He's for democracy. They're against democracy. So you have to vote for him no matter what, and then other people pick that up and echo it.

Sen. Bill Hagerty: Losing Our Credibility With Bad Energy Policies

"The disaster that we've created with energy policy where the president had to go hat in hand to bed the begged the Saudis for relief, which they've now decided they're going to cut the oil production by 2 million barrels a day. We could be producing about a million barrels a day with the Keystone if we hadn't had that shut off by this administration. First thing when they were in business, we're not going to release even more from our strategic petroleum reserve. Diminishing by another 10 million barrels, putting us at the lowest level since the early 80s with that reserve, we're losing not only the economic clout by not being energy independent, but as you've seen again as being an ambassador in being involved in the foreign arena for a long time, we lose our political clout and our foreign influence cloud as well. That's absolutely true. We were in a position under the Trump administration where we were actually net energy exporter, Steve, and when I was ambassador Japan, I urged them to make billions of dollars investment, which they did to import U.S. LNG. So we've taken a real turn for the worse. From our national security perspective. And if you look at this administration's cow towing to these killers overseas, they're going hat in hand to Venezuela begging Maduro. The negotiating with the Iranian. You know, it was an embarrassment a national embarrassment when Joe Biden goes over to meet with the Saudis to beg them to pump more and they turn around and OPEC decides what we're going to pop a couple of million barrels left. Take that. And you know what's even more insulting, Steve, and this is gotten very little notice in the media. But you mentioned that Biden has been unloading the strategic petroleum reserve. He's doing that because he's got a political problem. This isn't strategic from a national security standpoint. This is strategic for may November election standpoint. That's why he's unloading our petroleum reserves now to try and hold down gas prices to try and get his ratings back up in time for the midterm elections. He's

"The Biden administration is claiming credit for a prisoner exchange with the Maduro regime in Venezuela. And essentially, Biden released two nephews of Nicolas Maduro, the Venezuelan dictator. And these are relatives of his wife, they had been jailed. They were apparently arrested in Haiti on drug smuggling convictions and Biden goes, you can have them back in exchange for 7 Americans who are imprisoned in Venezuela, including by the way, 5 oil executives who had been held for nearly 5 years. The case is actually kind of crazy. The 5 American oil executives went down to Venezuela in 2017. They were invited to a sort of a conference being hosted by the state run oil company. It's called petti vesa, PDVSA. And so PETA vesa had this supposed conference and when these American oil executives show up, basically they're hauled off by security agents. Later accused of embezzlement and convicted in a trial that was then upheld by the Venezuelan Supreme Court. Now when I say all this, you know, Debbie will tell you more than anyone else that the Venezuelan Supreme Court is a rubber stamp. It's not a real Supreme Court. It was stacked by first Hugo Chavez and then Maduro handpicked judges, the independence of the Venezuelan court has been destroyed. By the way, the left would be happy to try to do something like that here as well. The Supreme Court now is a big thorn in their side. So the Supreme Court in Venezuela basically upholds the conviction, but there appears to be no credible evidence that these guys were embezzlers of any sort. Now I suppose one could make a broader ideological argument that by being oil executives and doing business in Venezuela, they are quote exploiting the country and so they're embezzling from the people. So, but that is normally nothing more than sort of boilerplate socialist rhetoric. It's not the basis for convicting anyone because you don't have anything on them. But when you are in Venezuela, you don't need anything on them of the dictator says lock them up. They're going to be locked out by an essentially everything else is just a pro forma validation of what Maduro decides. Now, the guys who were released by Biden Frankie Flores and his cousin efrain Campbell. The apparently are nephews of Celia, Flores, whom Maduro, by the way, refers to as his quote first combatant. So this is the Marshall rhetoric of socialism. Everybody's a fighter. Everybody's sort of a combatant and uniform in the first combatant is a Celia Flores. we make of all this stuff? I mean, there are obviously quotations in the media and probably some video of these families will obviously relieve to have their relatives back. They're unjustly imprisoned over their thank you President Biden, and I can understand that point of view, obviously it is heartbreaking to have a family member imprisoned, not just in prison, but in prison in a foreign prison fate uncertain, and then it's obviously exhilarating to see them again, a dad.

"Have we figured out what is going on with this whole Ron DeSantis stunt? How Texas was involved and all of that and migrants from Texas to Florida for this ridiculous cruel stunt. Yes. Yeah, so it's obviously it's a real shame to our country to have I mean we have a pretty nutty governor in Texas and then we have a monkey suit monkey do guy and in Florida trying to partake in what they I guess reading feeding red meat to their base by doing something that is just as radical as anyone could have ever imagined by shipping Venezuelans of all the Latinos that they could have chosen Venezuelans who are running from an authoritarian communist dictatorship of Maduro and coming to our borders asking for asylum. I think if our ancestors were alive today, it would be in shock. Normally we treated people running from communist countries with open arms and just like we did to the Cuban community and we did to North Koreans and Vietnamese and many others around the world so it's quite shocking obviously to the American people to see what is happening in Texas and the involvement of the governor of Florida and I think the thankfully a lot of good people in Massachusetts have taken these migrants in and are taking care of them mainly and we have a lot of great Americans that still stand to the cause and do the right thing. That make up for obviously this shameful behavior that we're seeing in Texas.

I can not describe it to you what went through my mind. I had to stop everything I was doing. I couldn't even come back to the work I had in Canada. I had to reduce myself to part time because I was just like too into this Bitcoin thing that I couldn't even sit at a desk for the day and do something else. Marissa, what year was this? 2015, early 2015. Okay. It's also I want to say it's hard for somebody in the United States to understand what that would have felt like for you in that place in that time. This stuff for granted to such an extent, right? Totally dude, because it was in the most hostile environment, economically. And physically, then I have ever been in. And to see freedom of transactions in that environment was just a rush because that freedom was taken from us. We couldn't wire dollars to our friends in the U.S.. We couldn't wire dollars to pay a medical bill. Yeah, was your brother concerned when you had this operation ongoing that it was going to get seized or he was going to get in trouble for what he was doing? No, because none of what he didn't even know. It was just, it was nobody knew what was happening. It was just completely like there was no legislation. There was no regulation. There was no in Venezuela, there isn't. And what doesn't get followed. So it's a very gray area. But at the same time, if you're not hurting anybody, and if you're not bothering anybody, then why should you be getting in trouble? You're not doing anything illegal. And so our facilities start growing. And because of our excitement and to exemplify how not only we were not worried, we were excited and we wanted to tell everyone around us to do the same thing. Because it was liberating and we started doing this and we started helping people grow their minds and my brothers growing keep growing their minds. Everybody kept my mom's mining. Everybody's mining. Like cousins ants, this became viral in Venezuela. And this went on for a few good years. 2016 and then 2017 comes. And I forget exactly, well, the country was in shambles, as it always has been because oil kept coming down. And it was around the Petro time where the government realized, I mean, this is a very long drawn out story as to why we got to the Petro. But the Petra was effectively a way to train the local corrupt officers or corrupt members of government to train them on what these machines looked like and how to extort miners. Because they could basically go into someone's facility and say, you haven't registered this equipment. This equipment is ours. Mister Maduro just passed a law that says that we can seize all of this. And even if he didn't pass the laws, you either give me all of this or we're taking you to jail. Why? Because I feel like it. And so after the Petro, all these mining facilities started getting rated. And unfortunately, my brother's facility was one of those facilities. And when they are facility got rated, is when my family made the decision that they had to leave. Because it was, it was basically at this point they were coming after us in a completely like we were there was no reason for anybody to come after.

What Is a Banana Republic?

"What is a banana republic? It's kind of a strange term, isn't it? First of all, what's this have to do with bananas? Well, first of all, the term appears to have originated out of South America, which is, by the way, banana country. They grow bananas over there. And so the bananas come to symbolize a backward undeveloped in that sense third world outfit. Republic is the strange word here. But as I'm going to suggest kind of appropriate in a weird way. It's a strange word because a lot of banana republics aren't really republics. They are authoritarian regimes. Remember, the word republic, a very ancient word going, go back to the Roman Republic, for example, a republic is a system of government that is accountable to the people. So a government, well, Lincoln says all four and by the people. But a government that is serving the people and not the people serving the regime. That's the definition of a republic. Now, a lot of banana republics aren't like that. They're run by despots, typically a kind of tin pot dictator who calls the shots, but it doesn't have to be a single dictator. If you look at a place like Venezuela today, it's a banana republic. And it's run by a regime. Yeah, there's Maduro at the head of it, but you've got a whole bunch of gangsters under him, so it's a tyranny is collective rather than individual. And of course, socialist tyrannies are that way. Now the key feature of banana republics is that they make up the rules as they go along. They prosecute their opponents and they suppress basic liberties, they manipulate the election process, doing what they can to ensure that they stay in power. They like to pre select as in the quota Islamic Republic of Iran, pre select the candidates if they can, they so they flout the entire ensemble of basic rights and liberties that are characteristic of a republic. And we're seeing that here. But a second feature of banana republics and this is why in a way the term is so appropriate is banana republics do all these things while pretending not to.

Dinesh Demystifies the Concept of 'Christian Nationalism'

"The topic of Christian nationalism is back in the news and it's partly because of Marjorie Taylor Greene and it's partly because of something that I said. So let's talk about this. Here's Marjorie Taylor Greene. Being attacked by the godless left because I said I'm a proud Christian nationalist. These evil people are even calling me a Nazi because I proudly love my country and my God. Now here's Marjorie Taylor Greene doing something that conservatives and Republicans do not often do. The left comes up with a phrase, Christian nationalism. And they start using it as an insult as a slur. And typically, Republicans run away from the phrase. Oh, we're not that. No, no, no. But Marjorie Taylor Greene pulled a fast one on them by basically saying Christian nationalism. Well, yeah, that sounds pretty good. I'm a Christian. I'm a nationalist, so I guess I'm putting the two together. I'm a Christian nationalist. Now, the left of course, yes, the moment that she used that phrase started saying, she's a Nazi. She's a Nazi. And of course, the Nazis were not Christian nationalists. In fact, the Nazis were the opposite, they were godless nationalists. And as I've shown in books like the big lie, a book that you should read if you don't have it yet, it's available on Amazon, get it. It explores the deep history of fascism and nazism. And it shows that nazism is really the sort of ideological ancestry of the left. Now the left started with a kind of universalism, but it quickly they're socialism quickly became nationalistic. In fact, even in Russia, Stalin's socialism quickly became national socialism. And of course, Castro's socialism was national socialism anchored in Cuba. Maduro and Chavez a socialism, as Venezuelan socialism. So these are all national socialists. And so there's a kinship, and as I said, an ancestry, a kind of line of descent. From fascism and nazism, we're talking here about early Nazi as I'm not the nazism of the Holocaust. And the modern left.

Venezuela Frees Two Americans After Talks With U.S.

"I hate that all these countries wouldn't take our president's call. That's really messed up. But we need to find countries that will take our president's call. You saw Maduro out giving a speech to his people this week shortly after the two hostages, which I was the first to report would be released from Venezuela shortly after they were released back to America. He got out and he gave a speech saying, look, we want to we want to work with the U.S. and with Europe to combat this. We need, by the way, I'm just saying the selfishly, we need to get the Russians the heck out of Venezuela. So close to us, we need to get the Iranians out of there. And I kind of like to get the Chinese out of there too. So there's a reason for us to be working with this country, helping them towards a free democratic process, helping them towards more free market capitalism because these are things that would really put us all in a much, much better

As Russia-China Alliance Deepens, Is There a 3rd Country at Play?

"We've been talking Debbie and I about how the new world order is being reconfigured. And there appears to be an emerging alliance we can see it between China and Russia. And there may be a third player here that we're forgetting about and that is the radical Islamic regimes. And I can think specifically of two Iran and turkey. Now all of this may seem a little bit abstract a little bit theoretical like, is this alliance really materializing? Is there some place in the world where we can see it actually in effect? And as it turns out, there is, and that country is Venezuela. Well, you know, as I've told you for many years, I've been very, very afraid of these alliances that are happening with these countries with these superpower countries and Venezuela. And for obvious reasons, I think geopolitically, if they have weapons and they put weapons in the hands of the Venezuelans or in Venezuela and act as their own on their own behalf, we are looking at short range missiles coming from Venezuela to our shores, only 1300 miles separate Venezuela, Caracas, from Miami. So very, very short range missiles is all that's needed, right? So it's worried me and it worries me even more that we don't talk about it. And that we don't have a, I don't think we have a good grasp on what's really going on. So a couple of years, there's been a lot of instability with the Maduro regime and they've been trying to oust them and unsuccessfully. And of course, now that Biden is in control, that that is not happening in Venezuela. So I hate to tell you, but you are not going to be a free country.

The End of an Era? Russia Realigns the World at America's Expense

"Let's go back to topic of the day, which is the reality that Joe Biden and company does do not want to face. And that is that Russia is realigning the world as we speak. You know, I'm really just stunned and disgusted. By the fact that we have not done what we can and what we should in terms of sanctions, we have still not sanctioned, Russian oil. I mean, imagine that. What is going on? What is the thinking? Why would you not just say, you know what? You're done. No more of any of this coming in. And by the way, why is Gazprom? The natural gas company state sponsored by Russia is still trading on the London stock exchange or Luke oil, the oil company from Russia for that matter. In other words, we as a world, we as NATO need to say yeah, we're not doing business with these. These murderers, and yet we have not done that that most basic thing. Why? Why? Is Joe Biden that afraid of gas prices going up? Look, he's made his bed, okay? This is his problem now. We will look back on this time. We will equate it with a 1970s and Jimmy Carter. We predicted it would be Jimmy Carter. We're just didn't think it'd be quite this bad. As Jimmy Carter all over again, you will be seeing gas lines. You will see tremendous pain at the gas pump as a result of inflation. There's ways that we could get around this, by the way. But apparently nobody has two brain cells there in Washington, D.C.. Where is Biden on all this? I mean, he should be out front and center and saying, you know what? We're not going to allow any business with Russia and anybody who does business with Russia is not doing business with us. This is what they did in Venezuela. Remember that? When they just caught Venezuela off with all the sanctions, by the way, he's looking like a pussycat. Nicholas Maduro, compared to Vladimir Putin these days. But we put sanctions in there, completely got them off, and yet we're not even doing that with Russia.

"We in the activist community where this as a symbol of where our country used to be because zimbabwean dollar used to be worth two british pounds and then of course over the next two and a half decades of economic mismanagement and corruption by mugabe. It got inflated out of existence right. You've seen those like one hundred trillion dollars bobby notes and So he had to live through that which was terrible and crushing but he is an expert on money. If you have to talk to human rights activists about money. They know a lot about money. They're just not usually asked to talk about it. So for me Money you know. When i studied money or look at money. It's really about control. You know who who is creating it. And how much does the population know about the creation of that money and when it comes to bitcoin. It's really the people's money like there is no shadowy force in charge of it. We all know the rules. We all know how it's gonna get minted and how it's going to get printed and you know that information is out there for everybody to see and there's no special group of rules for one group of people or another group. A billionaire and refugee are the same in the eyes of the protocol. This is a rather revolutionary concept and in the same way that democracy allowed us to decentralize politics and have checks and balances and in the same way that the internet is culmination of technologies that allowed us to decentralize information access to and control over it. Bitcoin decentralizes money. I mean no longer again. Is there one group of people who can just change it arbitrarily. We're all on the same playing field. And i think that is a tremendous innovation from one perspective. Money in inflation. Hyperinflation is kind of symptom of corruption as opposed to the core of the corruption And at the at the flip side in terms of resisting the corruption resisting the abuse of human rights. It's interesting to think that fighting inflation or funny of fighting mismanagement of the money supply is a way to fight back authoritarianism or to fight authoritarianism. And that's an interesting concept that i think was introduced to me by just plugging myself intellectual into the bitcoin community but also just cryptocurrency in general is is to like..

"News and track. So why love? Quick. Nikki Maduro. Trish is sweet, sweet trash. So did you watch any of the Met gala last night? Basically, celebrities sports stars wearing these extremely fancy or outrageous outfits. Well, one person who was not there was rap superstar Nicki Minaj now. She had a baby. And so she goes on social media and she was, you know, she was kind of going back and forth on what she meant. There are some tweets the last week basically going to read you is the first one That she should have put out, but she didn't. So she starts off with a picture of her, Uh, a year ago at the gala and said, I have an infant with no nannies during Covid, who's mad, not risking his health to be seen. Okay, So you know, I get it. Okay. You don't want to go to some place, There's no guarantee that you won't You know, get a breakthrough, but she's not vaccinated. She's not vaccinated at all. Then she continues to tweet. Her next one because people are criticizing her. She's like I was prepping for the VMAs. I shot a video and guess who got covid? Do you know what it's like to not be able to kiss or hold your tiny baby for over a week? A baby who is only used to his mama? Get vaccinated. Drake had just told me he got covid with the vaccine. Okay, so so you can see where she's kind of going and then And then she tweets this brace yourself people. My cousin in Trinidad won't get the vaccine because his friend got it and became impotent. His testicles became swollen. His friend was weeks away from getting married. Now the girl called off the wedding. So just pray on it and make sure you're comfortable with your decision and not bullied. Okay, So now we're going down. The rabbit is so unfortunate. So people are texting or tweeting back at her like now That's an STD. He needs to go to the doctor. Exactly. There's something wrong and finally she tweets this Somebody had said I had to get the vaccine because they wouldn't let me look for a job or get a job. And so she responds. I know a lot of countries won't let people work without the vaccine. I definitely recommend they get the vaccine. They have to feed their families. I'm sure I'll be vaccinated as well because I have to go on tour. And so something like, why couldn't you say this first and then she goes off and says, I'm still doing my research. I just want to know. What that looks like. Who are you? Researching? Where are you getting this information? Nicki Minaj was being called out then by Joy Reid from MSNBC. And this is what joy Reid, who's a fan of Nicki Minaj had to say and people like Nicki Minaj, I have to say this. You have a platform, sister. That is 22 Million followers. Okay, I have $2 million You have 22 million followers on Twitter for you to use your platform to encourage our community to not protect themselves and save their lives. My God, sister, you could do better than that. You've got that platform you It's it's a blessing. It's a blessing that you got that people listen to you and they listen to. You want to listen to me for you to use your platform to put people in the position of dying from a disease? They don't have to die from? Oh, my God. As a fan as a hip hop fan, that somebody was your fan. I'm so sad that you did that so sad that you did that sister. Oh, my God. Enjoy. Yeah, I mean, and it's true when you Look, I'm not Nicki Minaj. I have nowhere close to the followers that Nicki Minaj has. But I do have this show and I do try to promote the best health advice given by the experts. I'm not a doctor. I'm not an infectious disease expert, but I listened to them. I don't get my infectious disease information from people that have no background in it. So if you have a huge platform, I think you should use it in that way. Or just don't mention anything at all. Um and you have thousands of followers to. Well, I'm not. Minaj is all I'm saying, that's all I'm saying. But, you know, I don't think Nicki Minaj is going to get cancelled. Let's say, but I do think that she should be more responsible with her influence on people time. But speaking of being canceled Sharon Osborne is out. She has sat down exclusively with daily mail TV. Now this is her first interview in depth interview. They're calling it since she left the talk back in March. Now to bring you up to speed She was having a conversation about Piers Morgan. Remember Piers Morgan had assisted fit, and he stormed off because he was talking about Megan Markle, and he's making these sexist comments about and racist comments about her. "America. But the trouble for the whole globe, which is the Maduro regime in the failed state of Venezuela, millions of people have fled Venezuela. The economy doesn't much exists, except for what you have to say plunder. Part of the gangster regime in Caracas. However, within these last days, there was a report prominently displayed around the world of a meeting in Mexico City between Maduro's representative And representatives of Guido, who was momentarily the president of Colombia as being the head of the legislature until that, too, was taken over by the Maduro regime. The meeting took place in the Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City. There were unusual attendance by such as Russia, having observer. I believe Cuba had a hand in this as well. Certainly the host was the president of Mexico. Lopez, Albert, or AM love and the meeting was said to be one of a string of meetings looking for rapprochement or dialogue between two sides that don't have much in common. One represents a narco state. The other represents, at least for a while. The interests of freedom and liberty and had good has good relations with the United States. Joseph what? To make of this meeting in Mexico City? First of all, what did the M low? Get out of it? And then what did Maduro get out of it? Well, John first Let me just say that I think it was a mistake to really enter these negotiations. We've written about this at the center. We have a paper on our website that talks about how negotiations are really just Uh, delayed process for eventual sham elections, which is pretty much what we're leading to here in and Venezuela and there was really no or very little up site for the Venezuelan opposition or the weather government to get out of this negotiation. Essentially, all they're doing is legitimizing. The majority seem in the Maduro regime is really putting all their cards on the table because they have all the leverage in this. The only leverage that Guido government essentially had would be the sanctions. But that's not something that they completely control because always, distinctions are coming from the United States. And so in that context, and that scenario resulted of these two rounds of negotiations is that they signed two agreements. The first agreement is pretty much a humanitarian agreement. It's the ability to put, uh bring in medical supplies, vaccines and other things to deal with both the humanitarian situation in terms of lack of food and basic medical supplies, but also The Covid situation, the pandemic as bringing more best scenes, So that was the first one. I don't really have a problem with that agreement. I think that that was almost in an inevitable dealing challenge. There is the Maduro regime is going to control the distribution of all that. So you know, as we know that they're going to use it for political purposes rather than actual humanitarian purposes, But the second agreement is troubling. And the second agreement, which I think was imposed by the majority, seem In this negotiation, which is a recognition of the SCTV. Oh, and John the SCTV. Oh is a region in pretty much a third two thirds of Juliana, the neighboring country on the East. There is a historic disputed territory that's under the claim of Venezuela, Venezuela says instead of territory, we understand the search territory that's clearly in the international course. But here's the strategic miscalculation on behalf of white out by recognizing that by signing that agreement with Maduro, he is now at odds with his allies in the UK And always and at all, which is allies in the United States will not back that agreement because we are also partners with Giuliana. So I think that was a very strategic test moved by Maduro to throw a wish between why don't is probably his top two allies, which would be the U. K and the U. S not to mention perhaps Canada as well. And I think he's dissolving essentially any legitimacy and credibility that the quite a government once had an essentially running the table. So I think this was really just a downside for For white Oh, and for the opposition, and really, as Maduro consolidating his power. If I see this correctly, it does look as if Maduro is on the offensive. Is he taking advantage of this transition from the trump policy of maximum sanctions, severe sanctions against elements of the leadership in Caracas and, indeed sanctions that are part of the largest story of the failed economy. Is he taking advantage in that the Biden policy towards Venezuela has not to My knowledge emerged clearly yet. Absolutely. He's in the process of legitimization. The Maduro regime is legitimizing itself before the international community with the help of Russia, Turkey, China and other of its international allies. Part of that is delegitimizing the use of sanctions there in that effort. The other part of it is now getting recognition from their opposition. The opposition in recognizing Maduro as the government, which was complete 1 80 reversal from the previous position, uh, the government had during the Trump administration. And so I think all this is going to lead to essentially the United States or at least trying to pressure the United States to recognize the Maduro government. We have to understand that we don't recognize that government in in in in in in the political influence that we have in the OS other multilateral, But it's also going to lead to an effort for Maduro to try to convince The world that he is the legitimate leader of Venezuela, and he's the leader to remain very Russian. Ask strategy of essentially perpetuating himself into power into perpetuity and and trying to essentially convinced the world that he is no longer the bad guy that the bad guy is the opposition. Your trip to Colombia along the border region is Is it true that the Refugees fleeing Venezuela have cut back and the numbers or the numbers the same as they were these last this last year. And so, yes and no, it's true that the formal migrants that were coming from Venezuela to Colombia has diminished because the bridge was closed. There's only at least like the two parts of the border that I was at work, and there's only I think two or three bridges in Cucuta, which is another part of the board of the main part, the main crossing point for Venezuela, Colombia. The three main formal border crossing points to these three bridges. Those were closed, so obviously there wasn't much traffic there. But they have what they call this, uh, protests this informal border crossing points and those were active throughout the pandemic. John did they never closed. They don't close their informal or illegal border crossing points. And what happened now is that the Venezuelan migrants at that used to cross into the protests before it would be the illicit migrants, the ones that are killing drugs or carrying contraband or whatever they would care they would cross to the drug test. And in the formal letters, the ones that actually coming trying just receive Venezuelan come to live in Colombia across to the bridge is now the majority of them are crossed into the treasure, which makes it much harder to handle for the Colombian authorities photograph. Joseph of you without a flag jacket on the river. That's a very big river. That would not be easy to cross to refugees Use rafts or boats, is there Is there a black market in smuggling human smuggling into Colombia? Yes, sir. They do use rash that do use motorized boats. They also use other kind of wooden What wouldn't craft rest? We're gonna be releasing a video. So that is.

"To Nikki Maduro, evacuation of thousands of people from combo Is going to be hard and painful, no matter when it started when we began. Would have been true if we had started a month ago. Or a month from them. There is no way to evacuate this many people about pain and loss of heartbreaking images You see on television. And that, of course, is President Biden addressing the nation once again on Sunday as he tries to navigate the US withdrawal from Afghanistan as the world watches Joining me now is ABC News, White House correspondent Karen Drivers. Karen, another press conference. What does this say about how Biden feels about his decision? Yeah, I think In some ways, it's maybe reflecting that They understand the criticism. They've been getting just for the optics. Forget just, you know, the actual how the process is played out. But, yeah, This is supposed to be a vacation week for the president and steady state at the White House. He's going to go to Delaware for the weekend. He stayed at the White House. So he gave those remarks on a Sunday and took questions from reporters, which had only done once last week, So I think they're trying to get him out in front of this more. And we heard a very familiar message from him yesterday that he Has said. You know, this has been a consistent position for him that the United States should we drop in Afghanistan. But in terms of the criticism they're getting for how this has played out. There's a lot of focus from the president and senior officials on the efficiency, they say of the evacuation effort. We learned today that in the past 24 hours 16,300 people have been evacuated. Going back to last weekend. August 14th. The U. S has evacuated 37,000 people out of Afghanistan. So that's one thing the president was emphasizing and the message The White House would like to be the headline, Not some of the chaos that we're seeing and continues outside the airport area. Yeah. I mean, I don't know how many people actually thought it was going to go completely smoothly. But what do we know about troops staying past Biden's self imposed August 31st deadline. Yeah, this was I think a headline from him yesterday. He said that the August 31st deadline is now under discussion that the senior officials at the White House and the military are talking about potentially extending that, he says the hope is that it will not have to be extended, but it will depend on how far along the U. S is in that evacuation process. And you know those numbers. I just gave you 37,000 people evacuated since last weekend. We don't have a sense from the administration because it's not Sense. How many people total are looking to get out is 37,000 half of the number they need to move 90%. That's not clear, And I think that's a big question that the administration is going to be getting asked over the next couple of days as at August 31st deadline gets closer. Alright ABC News White House correspondent Karen Travers in Washington. Thank you so much for your time. Thanks so much. Yeah, And then we will, of course, be closely watching what's happening in Afghanistan. We are also closely watching this developing news today. Our fingers crossed that it's going to happen where a full FDA approval could possibly calm with the Pfizer vaccine, and I believe we will have a special report and then we'll open up the phone lines. Will this make a difference for 15? 80 88 10? This is a special report from ABC News. I'm Brian Clark. The FDA has given full approval to fighters Covid 19 vaccine..

Who Is Venezuela's President?

"But in agreement about who the government is in venezuela of late. This dynamic has like so many other things being more or less precisely the opposite of what it should. The country's president nicolas maduro tolerates little opposition while a goodly number of venezuelans and dozens of other countries. Don't think he's really the president anyway. The question of who presently is the legitimate government of venezuela is currently being examined by the supreme court of the united kingdom at issue is fourteen tonnes of venezuela's gold stored by the bank of england. It is quite a prize. Nearly a billion. Us dollars worth amounting to around. Fifteen percent of venezuela's foreign currency reserves the regime of president. Nicolas maduro would like access to this trove the better to fight. It says the covert nineteen pandemic ravaging venezuela. Although a few skeptical souls have suggested that maduro whose oversight of venezuela's public finances to date does not inspire complete confidence just might be more interested in further enriching himself and or his cronies venezuela a normal ish sort of country the repatriation of its. Gold should be barely any more controversial a request than the one any of us makes when we withdraw money from our bank account however the united kingdom where the bank of england is located is one of the countries which recognizes as venezuela's rightful president.
