"And so on to my next question, the release of mashed potatoes for the one year anniversary of the official podcast of Madonna remixes united. A whole year on, that's mad. How time flies? Oh my God. So can I ask you Carrie? What were your expectations when this began? And have you actually met any of them from MRU? When I first approached ever you, I was hoping to create a connection a line of communication. That was the original goal, because I just wanted to be respectful and not compete with MRU releases when I released my own Madonna featured podcast, which often featured MRU and many other Madonna remixers. People like Taj and Luxor and dub track and nephew and so many others that have been peering for at least ten years. So I offered my subscriber base and my podcast, which was ranked and still was ranked top 1% globally. And so Luke savant I began talking in the official podcast idea was born. Long story short, just trying to create better connections with both side and expected. So this expectation has now been met in last year, but really exceeded. And I genuinely have been honored to be associated as Ben. A connection to the new friendships. And there was a plan for the future. But have I met anyone mixers in person? Not yet, but I'd love to. And I will now extend an open invitation officially to all of them. So when visiting New York City, let's hang and I'll take you to the real New York City. I'm also my next question, which is I want you to name a few highlights that you've had from the past 11 to 12 months that you've had of Madonna remixes united episodes. And also, can you tell me a bit about your future plans? I love this question, Mary. So where do I begin? The banter between Microsoft Torrey and Doug tronic makes me laugh to this day Marco my love of Johnny cop. I had so much fun producing the behind remix segments and that interview in mashed potatoes to and chill with the two of them so much fun. They were in on the gag. Another highlight is has been getting to know all the remixers, which I have to admit was not something I expected to really happen like it has. And so much effort was put into convincing so many of them to record their voice in response to my questions. Many that rear makers, English is not their first language, so it was kind of challenging for them and I'm very happy they made them said yes and there's so many of them are very private introverted individuals and they are artists. I get that, but they warmed up to me and I'm naturally an introvert too so this I understand. Another one is I never expected to learn so much about the Madonna remasters culture, the community. Everyone even beyond them are you. It's a culture with its own rules, language, history, expectations, norms, drama. Share experiences are connected with a shared love of music production. And of course, the icon that is the queen. So I get them, I suppose another highlight is the trust that everyone can use to provide to share their remixes, their new productions, to premiere in my podcast, and I kind of pitch myself every time these musicians and that is what they are to me. They put the trust in me. Finally, we also broke new ground with the emerging podcast this past year with the visualizers and nobody is doing this like this. Nobody's putting an hour long visualizer with so much going on on their podcast feed. And I understand why it's a bandwidth issue. So we've been pushing this technology and it's text and its platform to its limits, but plans for the future. I hope you begin releasing my own remixes as well as my own original productions. And as for the podcast, I want to announce for the very first time for the very first time that I'm launching a new podcast called like amuse the Madonna remixes podcast. And that'll be an association with Madonna, make sure to also contain all of my dozen past Madonna episodes. The 11 MRU official episodes of which this is one. And the mashed potatoes mashed potato series will continue. This is basically a natural progression from this past year to separate into two podcasts. Phew. I'm so glad you liked this question Carrie. You make me laugh so much. My love, doctor tonic. Oh my God, I love those guys. They are amazing. Love them, love them, love them. But alongside that me and you to carry weaver, we've had so many laughs and good times. I thank you an amazing to gain remixes trust to talk, especially behind the remix, especially those in different countries. You know, you both trust so, you know, I'm really made up here and may allow to make a show out here. To, I mean, I would make a shout out to every single remixer. But I want to make a shout out to my okay James for London because he's amazing. He's talked on all your mash up podcasts. He's just a brilliant I love him, I love him. I love him. Hi, James. If you're listening and also nephew, AKA Barbie are brilliant. I love them all. I love them all. I love Luke savant. I love everyone. Too many to name. Anyway, calm down, Mary. But you know what, in your answer to your question, no, I have never seen visualizes either from any other podcast. But yeah, I'm very grateful for all that you've done. And once again, thank you for letting me be on your show today. So nice of you to call me up and join you in the studio. I'm so grateful. I mean, there's so many people in this world and these chose me to come and ask you a few questions, so thank you so much for answering the questions and oh gosh, I wish you all the best and here's to a great 2023. "There was nothing really matters to Brandon UK versus doctor kuchu makes available February 27th. Next, I want you to go behind the scenes of all the visual artwork for all of the episodes and all videos from a data remixer united. It comes from one person. His name is Roman. So Roman, tell us a little bit about your creative process. Good question. I've been collaborating with modern armies united for 5 years already, and I never had to explain microwave process. I guess it all boils down to one thing. When it comes to videos, it's always something different, something really to the song. And when it comes to designs or artworks, it's always a thing, or what if the scene is clearly defined in my mind, then the whole process goes much faster for the latest mashed potatoes. I did the theme was what if Madonna was having mashed potatoes that a nightclub? Of course, listening to Madonna's mashed potatoes for available February 27th. Riva Rucker's behind the remix with his mashup of devil prey. I was thinking about some meeting a new man shop and I remember this demo I had forgotten about from 6 years ago. This must shop contains elements of the song cauliflower by manual laser. He was also sampled by Beyoncé for the song round the board. This is the perfect opportunity to make justice to this mash up. And I think you're going to love it as much as I enjoyed the final result. If you go down then you'll get help along the way but if you want to save me so that we could travel together and make the devil pray I won't save my soul see if my soul won't save myself for you I'm going to dance. Hey Carrie, it's okay James. So I decided to do a mashup of Vogue because it's a song I recently fallen back in love with after the 15 number one project. I couldn't listen to it for years really because it just became so popular and omnipresent. It was like every wedding, any party you went to, it's always played. I just kind of fell back in love with the production of it recently. That said, a lot of the remixes are quite high-tech and big dance numbers and I wanted to strip it back and just mash it with a really simple, crazy dance track from the 90s, which I love called D light, which is also a really popular track. Groove is in the heart. And it just makes for a sort of a bit of a bonkers lo fi grungy mash up and I'm really pleased with it. I hope you enjoy it.

"Microsoft Tori and dub tronic that can't go for that remix of keep it together. Next, it's nephew, with express yourself deep down. For the latest edition of mashed potatoes, I am contributing a mash up of Madonna's express yourself. Mashed up with a track called deep down, which is essentially another matchup of crystal waters, gypsy, and the bucket heads, the bomb. Deep down is a matchup done by a lock, never dull, and Kenny dope featuring Ella iree. I heard this track and I instantly recognized the sampling from crystal waters and the bucket heads and I wanted to find a track of Madonna as it would work really well with it. So it turns out express yourself was that track. I hope everyone enjoys it. I think this brings a new energy and vibe to express yourself that we've not heard too much. Very celebratory, fun and great energy. So please enjoy.

How Victoria Jackson's Husband Went Viral
"You keep interrupting, that's why I can't finish my story. Oh, is that what it is? Okay, then go ahead. So Paul read me his U inspired Paul, my husband, the cop, with this book, to do something. He wrote a letter to the tennessean who is liberally biased. They won't print it. So I said, you know what? We're going to put it on the Internet. So I put it on my YouTube channel. I don't know what it's called. Victoria Jackson, YouTube channel. Again, I got to interrupt you for clarity. So Paul was inspired by reading my book to write something. The tennessean did not publish it, and you decided that he would read it out loud and you would put that video on your YouTube channel. Okay, that's fantastic. Go ahead. Continue. And I put it on Instagram, and it went viral because everybody agrees with this that there's moral madness in our country right now. If you watch the Grammys, which I didn't, but I saw clips. It's satanic, okay? But that's so boring. Why don't these artists realize Satan has already been done? I mean, Madonna, Gaga, blah, blah, blah, blah. They're all looking like prostitutes. Be unique. Do the opposite. Look like a little school girl who's innocent. Man, if I was a good singer, it's a no brainer. Don't go down the look like a prostitute Satan route. It's been done.

A Deliberate Act of Moral Provocation at the Grammys
"Thought it'd be fun to get Debbie on here to talk with me about Madonna and about the Grammys and the so called Satan performance that they did. By the way, interesting about that is I saw an article that said that the choreographers, the Sam Smith fellow, knew exactly what he was doing. He was trying to create a massive incident. He said before the Grammys wait till the right wingers see what I have in mind for them. They're going to go nuts, they're going to go crazy. They won't be. They won't be able to contain themselves. So this was a, this was not something where they put on an interesting performance and then conservatives kind of just took it the wrong way. They did this as a sort of deliberate act of moral provocation. In fact, the support Sarah Sanders, when she goes, this is a left wing culture war that we would rather not fight, but were forced into it, were dragged into it because they want us to worship at their false idols. So worship not only at sexual perversion, all kinds of other perversion, but also evidently worship at the shrine of Satan himself. Like pan, right? Explain what you mean by pants. Right, so pan, that was one of the gods that was back in Jesus time. And they had this place in caesarea philippi. Is it accessory philippi? Says are philippi, where they basically the, you know, the non believers. I guess they were non Jews. Non Jews and non Christian believers or they didn't believe in Christ or they didn't think Christ was the messiah. Anyway, these people worshiped gods different gods and pan was one of the gods, but they also sacrificed their children, people, animals, and so it was really creepy. When we went to it and it just gave me an uneasiness. Well, watching just the clip of the Grammys was kind of gave me the same uneasiness.

Madonna Has Gone Too Far
"Now, one formally great recording artist, and even an Italian icon. Who is an aging gracefully is Madonna. We got to talk about Madonna. If you caught wind of what she's been doing lately, yesterday she was twerking in like a bra and big panties. I don't fishnets. What is she doing? On TikTok, no less. A lot of fans are concerned. Disturbing social media posts. She's 64 now. She's running a black lace bra. Her tits never look bigger. What's going on that you get them done too? Black lace bra, black high waisted underwear and fishnet tights as she danced to a song LSD and after she stayed under the camera for the first few seconds, she began to jiggle her waist and at one point adjusted her underwear and she stuck her tongue through her lips and licked her lips and she shot her bubble butt and began twerking. I swear to God she looked like if you asked your mother, hey mom, do you know how to twerk? That's what that's about how non sexy look. And I don't care who you mother looks like. She's still a mom. So fans started posting stuff right away. And I'm glad to say fans are now doing the same thing with Britney's posts on social media to fucking dance clips, for turning and turning sweating and sweating the same makeup, the old hair extensions, and this fucking Sam asghari filming her. I think he's filming it. He knows she's doing it. He hears the music on, but he's too busy downstairs in the weight room. It's just disgusting. But fans, I was the only one giving her shit, and I was telling everybody, you're gonna kill this person. They're all, you look great queen. Yes, queen. I'll bring you we love you, and I'm like, you're gonna kill her. Don't do this to her. She looks like shit. This is nonsense. She's nuts. Now more people are saying that now. I'm glad. She is nuts. So people jumped on Madonna. This is not the Madonna I know. Someone staged an intervention. I feel like everything I've ever known is just one big lie. This is soul crushing. But not a blink if you need help. You're starting to scare me now. Madonna doesn't exist anymore. I haven't a clue who this person is.

Is Madonna Gay Again?
"Madonna appears to have declared herself gay. We think. TMZ's got this story that Madonna put up a TikTok video. Yesterday, that's got a lot of people wondering, it's a video that shows her throwing some panties at a trash can with the captain captioned if I miss, I'm gay. If I wrote that, they would just annihilate me. If I miss them get so she throws the pennies and the pennies fall very short of the bin and the camera cuts back to Madonna and she shrugs and walks away. They think this is pretty big news. TMZ thinks this is big news, assuming she's actually making some here. On the face of it, it looks like she might be coming out as a lesbian. That's what TMZ staff says or at the very least bisexual, but it's hard to say for sure. She's been into women, she's made public comments about that. She's even done things physically to show us she's like that. She's locked lips with Nicki Minaj, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera. But TMZ wrote this up and I want to ask Harvey Levin. Will you not around in the 90s? Have you forgotten a fling with the Miami nightclub owner Ingrid casares, the little hot Cuban girl? That was news everywhere. She wasn't hiding it. Or the fact that she had an affair with Sandra bernhardt? Of course, McDonald likes girls. Of course she's seen the world from both sides. What's happening with TMZ? What a slow news day. You think Madonna is gay? Yes, of course she is. I mean, that totally,

Madonna Needs Please Stay Home
"Did you see Madonna the other day? Oh, Christ. Again. This is a regular theme on this show. These celebrities, rather than volunteer or write a check, Madonna has taken to making these weird black and white artsy fartsy quarantine diary things. Have you seen these things? We've talked about a couple of them. One of them, she said, it's the great equalizer, the COVID-19 is the great equalizer, sitting in the bathtub, the marble bathtub of the fucking mozzarella water. She's full of shit. So this latest entry, she says she's tested positive for COVID antibodies, and she's, I just want to go out for a drive finally and breathe in the COVID-19 air. Listen to her in this video. Go play it, go find it later. The slurring on her voice. I've heard people tell me Madonna needs a hip replacement really bad and what's elective surgeries on hold, she's been hitting the opioids pretty hard. That's right here. I'm a little jealous. I don't have any, but listen, this is getting embarrassing. Like I said, I said this weeks ago, first she screws up her knee. She falls on her ass door and it shows she comes out on crutches. Now her hip is all busted up. Just fucking stay home, Madonna, stay home. If this was a horse with a Kentucky Derby, we put up the blue tent around there and deal with it.

"One more goddamn day and with that much closer to this country, opening up and being America again are or are we? I mean, what the fuck is going on? Pigs are being an aborted cattle's being euthanized, chickens are being killed, farmers are covering their crops. What the fuck countries this? There's even word we might be getting meat sent from Namibia? I don't want anything from fucking Namibia. Well, I think Madonna or Angelina Jolie trying to adopt a fucking kid. I don't want to pack it a chicken from any kind of processing plant and it fucking east of New Jersey. Sorry, I don't want it. Namibia. Oh, I just had some great Namibia steak. Get the fuck out of here. This is atrocious what's happening?

"Hi, it's still an AKA, mister long in here. And the first time for me on here, so thank you. Although it has been a while since I've been involved in any remixing, I'd say it was just about over two years, so I was thrilled to be asked to be involved in an tropical project. My influences are a little alternative in choice of tracks and sounds and stems from deep house, lounge vibe and chill vibe. My favorite influence being the hotel cost compilations, which were founded by French DJ Stefan Pompeo, who was actually remixed Madonna's what it feels like for a girl and appears on one of the hotel costs compilation algorithms. These compilations are mainly lounged chilled but with a deep house and sometimes a little tropical, so not that too dissimilar to tropical house, which has the deepest house head, but at the same time very uplifting. So with my remix, devil pray ended up being my second choice, I really love the vocals of the demo version and really felt the dress out well with my first synth section and started to build the track around that, adding in the Marina to the course and also the flute for that uplifting vibe. So before I go, I'd just like to thank you and thanks to Mary and Tommy for the grid support and creating this project and I hope you all like it. And I look forward

Beyonce's Album Has Been a Disaster
"Beyoncé's album has been a disaster. As of last week, the album sold just 475,000 copies according to illuminate and hit daily double and sales are down a whopping 74%. Renaissance has scored just one hit single with a song called break my soul. And that song now sits at number 15 on iTunes, there's a remix with Madonna that shit out at number 55 and now Beyoncé is going to try a new single next week. But I'm telling you, her ship has kind of sailed. She's got to go back to doing what she did best. The problem she has is obvious to me. She has a voice that should be soaring over radio stations all day long. But I think her choice of material is terrible.

So basically this mashup was for a compilation called let the music play organized by Mary Clarke for club volunteer and it was already called let the music play so it was a bit of a brain for me. I loved that 80s track anyway. I'd been wanting to do a mega mix in my daughter for quite some time. I didn't want to just chuck songs in. So I based it around two separate thieves, one of what feels like for a girl, which is sort of the chorus. And one around dancing music and I think it worked pretty well. I started thinking about the most popular songs of the last ten years or so and instantly thought of latch. And once I realized it was a great key match for frozen, it came together extremely quick, probably in one afternoon I had a really strong demo. And I really love this version. I think it's probably one of my favorite versions of frozen I've ever heard. How Did Rapper Zuby Get to Where He Is Today?
"We've had many, many guests on this show in the last three years. Some of them can be known by their initials like DJT, the former president, but I don't think we've had anybody who just has one name. And we're never going to have Madonna, but today we have zuby with us. He's an entrepreneur. He's a rapper. A man with a fascinating background. I saw him first on my buddy's podcast trigonometry fans foster and constantin Kissinger zuby. Welcome to America first one on one. Hey, how's it going? Happy to be here. It's going very well so far so good. We are 90 seconds into this interview. And it seems to be going all right, but we have a ways to go. Let's start where my buddies Francis and constantin begin there. Superb interviews. How did you get to be where you are today? Where did you grow up? What's your training? What's your background? And perhaps the greatest interest to all of our millions of listeners across the nation. How did you get to be the world heavyweight powerlifter in the female category? Okay, well, that's a lot of questions there. So my name is zuby. I'm an independent rapper, author, host of the real talk with zuby podcast, public speaker and coach. I was born in England, my family background is originally from Nigeria. I actually grew up in the Middle East and Saudi Arabia, lived there for almost two decades and went to school there up until 5th grade. I then went to boarding school in the UK and studied computer science at Oxford University, which is where I also started my music career. And over the course of time, I have released 6 independent albums and EPs, sold tens of thousands of albums, independently, and yeah, I've added a lot of strings to the bow, started my podcast and wrote and released my first book in 2019. And have become well known as well for, I guess what you could call social or cultural commentary. So different people around the world know me for a different things. Nancy Reagan's Felatio Talents
"I was quite alarmed this week that I found well, last week was it a lot of strange news stories if you can call them that. A lot of public dredging about Nancy Reagan's sexual history, I think it was, I think Ben Shapiro might have talked up about it, but it all came about because somebody posted a picture on Twitter or Instagram of Madonna at 63. And Nancy Reagan at 63, being a mom and a grandma, posing with everybody that was so happy in this Madonna on a bed leg spread makeup, a facial filter you can't even figure out who she is anymore. And somebody said, who would you rather be? Madonna, 63 and Nancy Reagan. And that's got people talking. So she became a very popular topic on Twitter. And the reason why she did, there's an anecdote that has been flying around for many years about her. That apparently she was very good, very skilled at fellatio during her Hollywood days, and that came up. You don't think about that. Her daughter wasn't dead when I dated patty, but that's not the point. The point is, it's just so weird that Nancy Reagan skills at giving head would be a story in this day and age, but there it was.

"Go fuck yourself, Madonna. You're making people work for free in this day and age for free, really. You've got more money than God and people are starving, but oh, it's okay, it's for your art. Would you work for free? I don't think so. Do the doctors who do all your facial procedures work for free? No. That's part of making your art. So why is it okay for people that you employ, I guess that's a bad word to use employ. Why is it okay for you to pull people together and make them work for free in order to make you think you look good to us and you don't? This woman has too much time on her hands. She's two egocentric, too much money, too much access to resources, you just don't get more out of touch than Madonna these days, period.

Backlash After Madonna Reveals Her Team Have Been Working For Free
"No one else is lunacy. Madonna's most recent case of butt burn. She got all pissed off because she posted a bunch of pictures on Instagram and she's not happy that people are not supporting her art. She need to support her rod. She says she's not just complaining about not having been supported by non artistic people who objected, did you see those pictures about her? She did something for the magazine as if we all know V magazine. But the post in V magazine included a behind the scenes photo of the photographer Steven Klein holding a knife to her throat. I don't know why they thought it was edgy and she thanked the people who worked long hours for free all to support madam X that's her new moniker as you probably know. So she's worked with people who weren't paid all night for this photo shoot all day and all night. And she's being criticized for sharing this violent image of the knife to her throat and the fact that she made people work for free. These things don't work well for Madonna. She's going through it. And of course, you know, she did this awful photo shoot the other day with I showed you pictures on the Facebook podcast obsessed page. I'll get to that in a second. But this recent photo shoot for V magazine very controversial in which she alluded to Marilyn Monroe's death. And she said, I'm proud of my collaboration with Stephen Klein for V magazine and knowing that against all odds. And with very little support from non artistic people. That's you. Who can't pushing back and the fact that we did it with almost zero budget, we were still able to make

Newt Gingrich: 'Trump Was the Most Effective Anti-Liberal I've Ever Seen'
"We're back one on one. This is America first with me Sebastian gorka and Newt Gingrich. Speak again, which let's talk about my former boss the 45th president United States. To you, what did his victory in 2016 mean? I find it amusing that as an immigrant to this nation, I have to remind my fellow Americans that it was the first time in our republic's history that we elected a non politician or a non retired military officer to the highest post in the land. How much for you did he change American politics inexorably? Well, I think if you look at Glenn young Ken's victory, you see an example of it. I mean, young gun campaigned on lowering taxes, less regulation, more jobs. He campaigned on taking on the culture war. Things that I think certainly on the culture war front the traditional Republicans would never have touched. Trump, I think I thought it was an extraordinarily important victory because I always tell people it's not that Trump is a great conservative. I don't think he sat around reading Bill Buckley and trying to understand theoretical conservatism. But Trump was the most effective anti liberal. I've ever seen. He just applied common sense. And did any act that he did things all day every day, and he was steadily methodically taking apart the left's world, which is why they hated him. And why they rigged the election and spent so much time for some literally from before his election. I mean, the first article in The Washington Post on impeachment is like April of 2016. And the day that he is being inaugurated, there's an article in the post on impeachment. And the day after his inauguration, there is a huge crowd and Madonna talks about how she envisions The White House getting blown up as a positive experience. And it was an unending four year war in part because Trump is a genuine threat. He's the first time I think since Andrew Jackson that you had a genuine threat to the

"I could really authentified with clive when he said he went to. Aa and he saw everyone chain-smoking on talking about their bottoms and he just didn't feel that you fit it in. He just didn't feel like an alcoholic because he wasn't drinking in the morning he wasn't crushing calls. Losing jobs and families etcetera. The thing is we don't have to wait until we hit rock bottom before we make you change if we worry about out drinking if it's on our mind or even if we drink more than the low risk limits than we should make some changes at the very least take a break just to test your dependency like most of us live tried moderation and we agreed the drinking neuro. Pathway will always be some once. You've crossed the line with your drinking. Moderation is no longer an option. The best thing to do is accept that you can't moderate and then concentrate on creating an alcohol-free life that you love clive torch about being triggered by a sunny day and the full shift drinking rosa. He's got a very sensible approach to triggers though he just recognizes them get super curious about them and let some pulse without acting on a nice analogy is to think of them like a cloud in the sky over a trigger. Let me watch paul. Another way of dealing with those triggers is to create another ritual. Replace it for example. If clive started enjoying it loss of all free bubbly every time he started drinking in the sun shined then his subconscious would gradually create a new unless hopeful trigger climbs. Madonna story is one of my favorites. I think it's the way he tells it. But it's a classic example. Isn't it of how we expect alcohol to and halts our experiences in clive's case he ended almost blacking out missing most of the concert that he'd been looking forward to for months. He's made the joyful discovery. That clive doesn't need alcohol to be life. He can still be the life and soul of the party went stone cold sober and eleven months into his surprise. Clive fills that. He's regained control of his life and reduced his anxiety. He feels strong and his proud to bail coal free. Clive ended our by reading his goodbye to alcohol lexa. He found that writing. This letter was a powerful and cathartic experience. He's luxuries very moving. And if you'd like to read it just go to tribe sopa dot com and hit the inspiration tab and if you feel ready to write your good fight to alcohol letter then just send it to john..

"Feel the need to make any excuses about the fact that i don't one so i just said no. I want to go home. So i said it's now time well. Yeah i knew that. It was going to be something that i wouldn't enjoy and i don't think i would have drunk but it could potentially be a trigger is watching because out of boredom Most tank more than anything else. And i know when i get bored i want to drink. You're listening to a podcast from tribe sober clive. I think the time has come to here. The madonna's story you know it's one of my favorite son. We have to share it with the listeners. Okay so it's one of the. It's it's one of the reasons. I kind of realized i needed to stop drinking. But i didn't stop drinking off. Jewish and actually the they would two instances more than just madonna him. But i went so there were two things i wanted to do in a on a recent trip to london. Obviously it was just before cova was february. Last year and madonna had decided that she was going to and madonna have been a huge fan of since my teenage is since lack virgin i it was. She's being part of my life. And i've got every album followed. I used pictures out of magazines. I mean she is every. I was obsessed And so madonna announced that she was going to be doing her madame x concert which was going to be done in theaters And it was going to be and in london shoes. Performance that the royal albert. And i'd always wanted to see something at the royal albert and i'd always wanted see madonna so i thought well we're going off to london as the and we're going to go and see madonna's book tickets. I paid a fortune for these tickets and obviously flats to get there and madonna and also. I decided i was going to book to see wicked. Because i'd also wicked was at their my becker list of things to see and in both experiences the same thing happened except full wicked. I just got totally slammed beforehand on the way they after lunch. And i don't remember much of wicked. But in terms of madonna arrived and madonna's delays for his shirts so we all had to stand outside and they also they take away..

"Was so interesting. Our brains triggers and they. They remind us of the good times we had with alcohol. And we forget you know the hangovers. The blackouts the driving drunk etc. We think oh. I miss those good times and i've been sober freer of proof to everybody that i'm not an alcoholic so now i'm going to monterey years but and it's interesting you say that because yesterday we were driving out to mull district and to go and have lunch at restaurant and go and sit outside and i said to my husband on the way that just said and it's because i have i've been sober now for at the time of recording almost eleven months and i i to my said today i'm slaski triggered because it's rosa for me. The weather was beautiful. We were getting top no garden and it's almost like in this neuro programming that summer summary went where the was rosa with a for me. So an asset mustard. I need to. I just acknowledging that i'm triggered. I wasn't going to drink. I wasn't craving but it was almost like this. You know whereas this romanticized view of alcohol. Whereas normally what i would do is i would be the person who even if i driven the ib driven back home. I'd make everyone else drinks that everyone was slammed at the table. Because made me feel betcha. I'd i would. I would scoff at the people to sit. They weren't just drinking because you know they actually made me feel bad even though You know the fact is that. I get like is so boring and carry on and i'd be the one and not get home and open up another bottle on a sunday night and monday sought off the game but yet still yesterday. After eleven months. I was still driving to the restaurant thinking it would be such a perfect day to have a glass of rosa and i had to literally say to myself. You being triggered. It's not it's not that nice an experience in usa. Play the movie forward and it's it is you know kind of in my mind had to say tomorrow. You'll have to reset today one. You'll have to remove yourself from the six-month group which would be devastating for me. I was very proud. Joined the big people's group but you know and and also it it would just be. It could be going backwards to a place. Where i i was miserably. An unhappy even. Though i thought alcohol was making me happy if that makes yeah we have to to stale an expression from gwyneth. Paltrow we have to uncouple rosa with sunshine. Unusual in your brain pied going out and enjoying some alcohol-free bubbly or something in the sunshine for a few times..

"You know. People who reached that level of fame actually are highly curated and they have gotten very good at boundaries and preserving them. You're only ever going to know what they want you to know. And certainly of course there are really talented interviewers who can crack through through the facade and i felt like we had a great conversation but i also felt like she was only going to say what she was going to say no matter how i approached it or tried to sort of. Go past the facade right. I'm curious how you ended up. Landing the interview of madonna for harper's bazaar that seems like a pretty cool get It's a weird story. So the artist marilyn minter is a friend of madonna's and she mentioned my book bad feminist to madonna and that I should have covered that. She should have a conversation with me. And then i believe. Madonna read bad feminist and then requested me for fi interview. That's really cool. That is so roxana. A lot of people consider you one of the most influential feminists of your generation. Do you consider madonna a feminist. And why or why not you know. I don't think it's up to me to define who is and who isn't feminist. Think that except if you're a pro-life sorry you're not a feminist your parade. I think that she has done many feminist things Over the years. And i think that she has been a beacon for women who want to be a little radical and who want to be provocative in our last episode. We included some clips from madonna's billboard woman of the year speech in twenty sixteen. I'm just gonna share one of those clips again here. I remember wishing that. I had a female here that i could look to support camille paglia. The famous feminist writer. Said that i set women back by objectify myself sexually. Oh i thought so. If you're a feminist you don't have sexuality you deny it. So i said i'm a different kind of feminist. I'm a bad feminist. As the woman who popularized the term. Can you explain the concept of a bad feminist. What does it mean. It means a lot of different things to different people. But when i coined the phrase it was partly tongue-in-cheek and partly not you know i think that mainstream feminism certainly has a reputation and it gives the impression that you have to behave in very specific ways to be considered a good feminist. And so i found that that definition didn't leave a lot of space for people like me who may have had some inconsistent ideologies but we're still feminists and so i thought it was better to create a space with feminism for myself by calling myself bad feminist. Like 'cause i'm really bad at it. But i also create you know coined the phrases repudiation of mainstream feminism and the way in which it prioritises heterosexual middle-class able bodied white women and to the detriment of every other kind of woman. And if. that's good feminism than i'm a bad tremendous..

I should have paid more attention in history class. Yeah me too. But madonna's look isn't an accident. She's accepting the billboard woman of the year award. She rests the glass award down on the grand piano on stage. Behind her and addresses the audience when madonna starts her acceptance speech. She's not just hearsay. Thanks she's here to deliver a message. She plants herself on the stage feet far apart. And then she begins. Thank you for acknowledging my ability to continue my career for thirty four years in the face of blatant misogyny sexism constant bullying and relentless abuse. Oh damn she's not holding back Madonna's chosen her words very carefully tonight in her speech she talks about what it takes to make it. As far as she has as a woman in the music industry. She talks about her early days struggling in new york city and she talks about the years that followed how aids took the lives of so many of her dear friends she then talks about how she was shamed for her sex book and erotica album She was called a four and a witch and she talks about what. It's like to be a woman aging in the music business. How she's been criticized and vilified and finally do not age because to age is a sin. You will be criticized. You'll be bill fide and you will definitely not. He played on the radio heavy. Yeah she's almost in tears as she talks about her relationship to feminism. I remember wishing that. I had a female here that i could look to per support. Camille paglia the famous feminist writer. Said that i set women back by objectify myself sexually. Oh i thought so. If you're a feminist you don't have sexuality you deny it. So i said i'm a different kind of feminist. I'm a bad feminist and the end of her speech is almost poetic. People say that. I'm so controversial but i think the most controversial thing i have ever done is to around to the doubters naysayers to everyone who gave me hell and said i could not that i would not that. I must not your resistance. Made me stronger. Made me push harder. Made me the fighter that i am today. Made me the woman that i am today. So thank you. We'll certainly be in for the role of a lifetime so yeah madonna's still crushing it in her career but she's also killing it in her personal life. She's found a new home in lisbon. Portugal where she lives in a sixteen thousand square foot. Eighteenth century morris revival mansion. It's big enough to house her. Growing brood in addition to lord s rocco and david madonna's adopted three more children from malawi. Oh my god six kids just like our own mom. Yeah it's beautiful. And she's found love again. She's been dating dancer al-malik williams who's thirty three years her junior. Oh and i'm sure people have been nothing but gracious and respectful about that. Of course people love to not comment and other people's lives. When madonna posted a picture of them kissing to instagram. The comments exploded. People said things like it is sad. Ac- madonna kent age with grace. And is that her son. But i gotta say a little part of me feels like madonna's in joint controversy it's classic madonna to stir things up just for the hell of it. "Once reinvention won't be the answer it's two thousand four and madonna's in west london. She checks her. Watch three pm on the dot. She's right on time. Standing in front of madonna is stuart price her new producer. He's wearing a robe and socks and he looks like he just walked up. Okay was he not expecting her. he definitely was. You'd think madonna would be pissed but she's not she loves that he's not a stuffy producer in fact. He's a dj. He's been out working all night and actually is just waking up. Stewart reminds madonna of her days as a struggling artist in new york. Where deejays were like dodds. He reminds her how much she loved going to clubs and just dancing. She wants her new album to be just like that she wanted to be madonna circa nineteen seventy eight with her american life. She missed the mark. She didn't connect with her fans. But this time she's gonna make sure she hits the bullseye so it's not gonna be about making a point or pushing the envelope. It's going to be all about pleasure. The simple pleasure of being on the dance floor an only thinking with your body madonna's shoves a cup of coffee into sewer hand and barges right into his tiny cramped apartment. She's excited and raring to get to work. As she climbs stepladder up to his loft. She tells stewart that the album needs to sound like abba on drugs. Okay the best formula for an album one hundred percent. Madonna makes herself at home pushing aside the vintage keyboards that take up. Most of the space. They sit together for hours perfecting the hooks and brainstorming choruses. Madonna hopes that her fans see how hard she's worked that they'll get off their feet and dance with her but just as madonna's ready to debut her new album now titled confessions on a dance floor. She has an accident that means she might never be able to dance again. Wait whites on aug six two thousand and five on her forty seventh birthday. Madonna goes riding. Nash coma state and gets kicked off her horse. She falls to the ground hard. She can't move madonna's terrified she's rushed to a nearby hospital where they diagnosed her with three cracked ribs. A broken collarbone and a broken hand. Ooh that sounds so painful. Yeah really the ribs and collarbone will have to fuse back together on their own. But madonna doesn't really have time to wait for that to happen. Confessions on a dance floor is a dance album. If she's gonna promote it she needs to be able to dance to it and now she can hardly even move. The timing couldn't be worse. She's got a video to shoot for the lead single hung up madonna recuperate for a few weeks. But that's it and when cameras roll on the video. She doesn't miss a beat. If you watch hung up you'd think you are watching madonna in the best shape of her life. She shows up with this amazing farah fawcett mean an leotard and a very nineteen eighty shade of pink. She leaps and peretz from one end of a dance studio to the other and her hair bounces with each step. She looks poised. But fierce madonna leader says none of the bones had gone together pharmaceuticals and my will got me through the shoot. I mean let's be honest. That's a recipe for most hollywood success. Stories madonna's convinced that dancing the way back to her fans so she makes it happened and it turns out she's right in november. She drops her new album and it lights up. The charts hung up becomes a number one hit in forty one countries and it becomes madonna's thirty six top ten hit tying her with elvis presley or the artist with the most songs to hit the top ten king nature clean bow down and when she announces her confessions tour. It sells out within minutes. One point two million people buy tickets. It breaks record becoming the highest grossing tour ever for female artists in earns about two hundred and fifty million in two thousand and twenty one dollars with the confessions album and tour. Madonna proves that nothing can stop her. Nothing can hold her back broken bones she gets right back to work and show the world that she's a god when it comes to music and there's only one place where musical legends go to be worshiped leave blend. It's march tenth. Two thousand eight in new york city okay. I thought we were going to ohio. Well we kind of our madonna's being inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame where she'll be memorialized for eternity in a museum in cleveland but tonight she's at a fancy dinner accepting her award and joining the ranks of the beatles janice joplin and the supremes the hallowed few who have truly influenced and contributed to the development and perpetuation of rock and roll trailblazer check. Yup it's one of the highest honors. A musician can aspire to artists only become eligible for induction twenty five years after the release of their first record and madonna's at twenty five years. Exactly madonna's proud of this accomplishment. Really proud but you know who isn't there to celebrate with her her husband. Her marriage is totally falling apart. She's really struggling to keep things together for the sake of her children. In addition to lowland david guy in medina adopted a baby boy named david from malawi. But a new baby didn't fix their problems. Madonna leader says. There were many times when i wanted to express myself as an artist in ways that i don't think my ex husband felt comfortable with and there were times when i felt incarcerated wasn't really allowed to be myself. It's also rumored that guy who was ten years younger than her said. Madonna looks like a granny compared to her nubile backing dancers kicked him to the curb. The second he said.

"Two thousand three and we're back at the vm. As fleet again your last time though. I promise madonna's just appeared on top of the giant wedding cake and a black talks in tough hat. Britney spears and christina aguilera wait eagerly at the foot of the cape in their matching wedding dresses. Madonna's the groom the ringmaster the og and in case the costumes. Don't make that clear enough. Madonna's also got the moves to prove it. She's singing her new single hollywood as she dances down the stairs as she takes the last step off the cake she throws britney into a spin. Then she takes pristina's hands and leads her in some fancy footwork. Madonna's moves are practiced and control. Her technique is precise and fluid. She's better than any of the pros on dancing with the stars. She's basically saying. I might be forty five but i've still got the moves which is good for her. Oh yeah she out dances both brittany and pristina mira early twenties. But madonna doesn't just want to show that she's still in peak performance. She wants to show that. She's still provocative still sexual still madonna. That made her famous in the first place. She didn't dry up and become a prune just because she had a baby. Sexuality has always been a cornerstone of her art and if the industry needs a reminder of that then she's going to give them one. Madonna kneels on the stage and sensually caresses christina's leg she removes her garter swings above her head and then throws it into the crowd and the audience is intrigued. But they aren't prepared for what she has plan next. She turns to britney and pulls her in close brushing a strand of hair from her face. And then madonna kisses her the crowd lose it as she turns towards christina and plants a kiss on her tail and these are packs. They're passionate kisses that no one will forget. Oh yeah that moment is burned into my brain same here. And that's exactly what. Madonna wants this performance. She's making a move to claim her place on the throne as the queen of provocation. And she makes it clear that britney and christina are just continuing what she started they might be the flavor of the week but madonna was here first. She might be a mom and fo- aristocrat to boot but she's still the same woman most got arrested for being too sexual onstage. Okay and does it work. I mean we all remember the kiss so yeah but also no not really the next day. Everyone's writing about the performance but most of the ink that gets spilled is about madonna's age the critics who of course are mostly men just can't look past that one critic even calls the kiss vampiric like madonna's hoping to suck the youth and sexuality straight out of brittany in christina's throats and fun fact years after the kiss web sites will pop up tracing britney's downfall back to this kiss when madonna stole her life force. Okay think people know how vampires were so. You gotta watch twilight. The point is though madonna's career is stalling. Her last album flatlined line. Her via may appearance just reminded her haters yet. Again of how old she is. She needs to find a new way to connect to her. Fans and madonna's beginning to wonder if for once reinvention won't be the answer.

Appear in white dresses with matching hair bows and lace gloves. They walk around the stage with small white baskets throwing flower petals at the crowd. The curtain goes up and they're in. The center is a seventeen foot tall wedding. Cake and standing on top is a veiled bride wearing a white lace boost and a tattered white tulle skirt with a belt that reads boy toy. Okay ben here done that. Oh it's different this time. Trust me as the bride starts to sing like a virgin. She lifts her veil. And it's great lease spears. It's britney bitch britney's recreating madonna's iconic performance from nineteen eighty-four the same one that thrust her into superstardom. But this time. Kay cass stairs so britney can easily descend to the stage and not lose a lesson learned totally and when britney makes her way to the bottom of the cake. She's joined by another veiled bride in exactly the same get up and when her veil is raised its christina aguilera. It's chris c. bitch okay. That doesn't the same race definitely. Not but the crowd goes wild again. In two thousand and three britney and christina biggest stars the world and they've both been influenced by madonna like her both felt call to the stage since they were very young stepping into her shoes for. This performance is a way to signal that they're not child stars anymore. They're ready to be just as provocative and controversial as their idol. The to popstars dance teased the audience and even roll around on the stage. The same way. Madonna did when she gave her performance back in eighty four but as incredible as this double wedding is something missing as the chorus comes to an end. Britney and christina both turn back towards the giant wedding cake matching bouquets in hand. The music changes and from the top of the cake emerges madonna. She's wearing black from head to toe. Her black pants are tucked into knee. High black leather stiletto boots her black lace bra peeks through sheer black top underneath a fitted. Black tuxedo jacket with tales. And she's finished the look with at tilted. You guessed it black top hat this time. She's the groom and she's in charge of the stage. The audience gets to its feet. The money's great but it's about more than that. madonna says. She published sex to liberate america. Free us all of our hangups. She told spin. We live in a very repressed society and i ideal with erotic themes the point i try to make is why should we feel ashamed of our sexuality but the books message lands with a thaad to readers on the left. The book doesn't go far enough. The new york times writes that madonna comes off like a ceo. Instead of a sex goddess. Her book is a cliche catalogue of what the middle class is supposed to consider shocking and on the right people think madonna's profiting from what they consider to be images of abuse rape and degradation. She's done what almost nobody in america has ever been able to do unite feminists liberals and the christian right against her. She's receiving almost two hundred letters a day at this point and all of it is hate mail. Oh okay so. They're like big mad. Yeah for the first time. The controversy madonna drums up is super damaging to her career and to her ego. But madonna doesn't lose. She's going to keep pushing the envelope no matter what her critics say but if she doesn't let up soon she might just go down swinging.
