Fresh "Madison Square Garden" from ESPN Radio

"A roll, thanks to an overtime victory over the Pelicans this afternoon to Madison Square Garden. The final 122 to 112 Julius Randle once again shines for New York. He had 33 points and 10 assists for a double double, just a part of the story for the Knicks, who once again pull off a big one at home at the Garden. Well, today they had all they could handle from the pelicans. Pelicans played an excellent first quarter, then led by Derrick Rose and talk about blast from the past Taj Gibson. The next just completely turned it around in the second quarter appeared to have taken control of the game, And then the pelicans came out, played. An excellent second half came from behind, put themselves in great position. Closed the deal at a three point lead. A T end of regulation seven seconds to go and Lonzo Ball made a major defense of mist. Ake left Reggie Bullet in the Corner right in front of the New Orleans bench. Derrick Rose found him for the tying three on the Knicks just took advantage I thought dominated the overtime period. Sean Kelley Zion Williamson coach had 34 points to lead the pelicans, but He didn't get much help. Today. Brandon Ingram was off his mark with regard to what he was able to contribute. No. Eric Bledsoe had an excellent second half. I think you've got 20 points in the second half of the overtime. Steven Adams with a really impressive double double 10 points and 14 rebounds, but they needed the offense from B. I. And they also needed three point shooting, which you know has just Not happen for New Orleans six for 27 from 3 22%, while the Knicks 11 for 29 38% that went a long way toward deciding this game five the double figures for the New York Knicks as we mentioned Randall and Rose leading the way Big picture, Let's talk New York here. Teacher. They won six in a row now, and this is also the start of a massive home stand right now for the Knicks as well. Five straight home games. There's such a logjam between fourth place all the way down basically to ninth place in the east, but The Knicks the hottest team in the league right now, as you mentioned five straight games at home, they have eight home games. Six road games left the rest of the way. You would think they've put themselves in really good position in that.

Ok, Will Digital Vaccine Passports Work?

"Digital testing tracing apps on smartphones did not exactly pan out as some of us thought though. I have heard that these kind of apps are used more extensively in some countries than you might think. Ok though now what sort of odds would you give me that digital vaccine passports will take off. New york state has launched the first. Us vaccine passport app. Excelsior pass built on ibm's blockchain based health pass platform quoting usa today. The first in the nation certification called the excelsior pass will be useful. I at large scale venues like madison square garden. But next week we'll be accepted at dozens of events arts and entertainment venues statewide. It already enables people to increase the size of a wedding party or other catered event. The app championed by governor andrew cuomo to support the recovery of industries most affected by the pandemic is funded by the state and available for free to businesses and anyone with vaccine records or test results in new york like an airline boarding pass. People will be able to prove their health status with a digital. Qr code or quick response machine readable label. They'll need to download the accelerator pass. App enter their name date of birth zip code and answer a series of personal questions to confirm their identity. The data will come from the states vaccine registry and also will be linked to testing data from a number of pre-approved testing companies. Nineteen or gotten a recent negative test is not actually called passport. Though the state of new york launched what it calls the excelsior pass and starting this week. Madison square garden in new york city plans to use it with other smaller event. Venues and businesses expected to start using this tech soon. New york has partnered with ibm for this. And the governor's office describes it like an airline boarding pass so people can either store it and show their pass on their smartphone or print out the pass then venues or businesses can scan the qr code to see green check or red x. It's all paid for by the state and it's free for individuals and businesses there to use supporters. Say this is just another tool to help safely. Get the economy going again. And to save local businesses. State officials are also stressing. It's all voluntary private and secure for everyone involved. The tech is go on blockchain technology. "Randall after the next victory, and over time over the pelicans, 1 22 to 1 12, the next set of 31 in 27 6th seed in the East, one spot in front of the Miami Heat, last year's Eastern Conference champions, and why that is so important is remember. With the new playoff format this year, Courtney the top six teams in each conference are guaranteed entree. Into the MBA. Postseason teams, seven through 10 will have to jockey and a playoff playing to see who earns the 7th and 8th seed for the post season. So I ask you, Courtney, what is more impressive. On this day, the next winning six in a row nine straight against the number or Grandma Bruce turn in 100 years at the top of that, I'm gonna go with my home cooking, but I thought about this and I went back and looked so on February 28th. You and I were hosting this show together, and that's when they beat Detroit there on the road. Beat Detroit 109 90. That's when they became innate seed like it's the playoffs, where to start then they would have become an eight seed. Our producer at the time J Clinic, you know him and his East Coast roots. He was going nuts in studio. He was so excited about it and Think about where this next team is now compared to like. You know, two months ago is just to be in the conversation of Oh, my gosh, Look at the turnaround that Tibbs has orchestrated in New York. Look it, Julius Randle playing it all Star level and you know, Derrick Rose. He follows Tom Thibodeau wherever he goes, and great things happen. You're seeing it come to fruition like they're no longer just like a cute see outside story of like, Okay, they're building something. Let's see where they're at in a year like they're legitimate playoff team, and I think that probably surprises some people considering where they started and where things are right now. They should not be taken lightly whatsoever. Yeah, they've beat up on some bad teams here and there, but a six game win streak going into this final stretch of the season with a chance to extend it on Tuesday to seven against Charlotte at home, and they've got a lot of home games to end the year like the next couple, I think. Charlotte Atlanta Toronto Phoenix Chicago See at least four wins in there. I don't know about you, but like this Knicks team is something that's for real right now, and I'm honestly really excited to see what that does to the Eastern Conference playoffs. If you know, kind of in those, maybe like first two rounds because it's nice seeing another team introduced into the mix and one that could potentially make some noise. Absolutely. I mean, the Knicks have a transferrable skill, a skill that will travel an ability that plays versus any opponent. That's their defense. They're allowing just 104 and a half points per game this season. And that's not just because they're one of the slowest teams in the MBA on that's a Tom Thibodeau hallmark, but their defense is fantastic. It's I believe, second or third, the MBA and defensive rating behind on Lee the L. A Lakers. So With 31 wins and 27 losses. They're actually tied with Boston and Atlanta. The five and four seeds in terms of number of Windsor's to half game back of those two squads with one extra law, so You know, they keep real enough wins. They could hop into the fourth spot and have home court in the first round of the postseason, where they're 18 and 10 at Madison Square Garden this season, So I think the Knicks are real. I think this defense is for real Julius Randle has been fantastic. All season long and was again today with 33 points and 10 assists. We will chat with Iain Begg Lee of S and why coming up a little bit later in the show to break down the knickerbockers, and they're fantastic Start to the season. Another win today in overtime or the pelicans coming up here on game night once again. The MBA and social justice, intersecting and important way and Courtney, You are kind of at the heart of the storm there in Minnesota. We explain next. This is Game night on ESPN Radio and the ESPN app. Hey, it's greenie back and better than ever on Monday, looking ahead to the NFL draft, which is in Cleveland, speaking of which Joe Thomas will be among my guests Monday with me, Greenie, starting 10 A.m., eastern on ESPN Radio and ESPN plus Is your bathroom, looking old and worn out. "It's ncaa tournament time we had championship. Week was absolutely spectacular. You had a championship game. That wasn't so spectacular in america conference by the big twelve was tremendous big. Ted was tremendous. Because you know what those two leagues are tremendous all season. Long games aren't games. they're events the acc was anti climactic but great for josh passenger and the greatest shield in the history of life. The big east to me was phenomenal. I mean patrick ewing. Not only does he no longer needed credential again but he got into madison square garden and walked away with four games in four days and his team played like an old vintage georgetown team. Pac twelve stolen a bid which was really cool. Wayne tinkle's got it was who was on the hot seat. It was so cool is good coach. A good person attack boil. Who's another great guy still going tournament. So i thought championship week was absolutely spectacular. Your take oh. I thought it was great. I look. I'm gonna tell you houston's legit at chance due to their games including the championship game in the ac. That is a legitimate. I was happy that drake dot in. I was happy that twenty five and four guy in. I thought that was terrific. I love the fact that the drew brothers are in the tournament. The demolishing of creighton shocked the living in. Hell on me. And says i'm telling you i like when you lose guys mclaughlin aquino record and next thing you know man. What are you doing better. The next year matt pain and getting himself in the top four seeds after losing two guys eastern and harms but overawe a look championship. Week was the sec. Tournament was off the charts with the championship. Game and college basketball delivers it delivers every damn nights. Let's go to the west ready. Let's do it all right now. Let's do this number one seat. I was thinking what games in the upper half of the west. Are you looking forward to see. I wanna see what. Oklahoma can do eight nine game now. Maybe it doesn't matter because you're gonna play gonzaga. But i think this i think if you're gonna play along krueger team whether you're konso martyn missouri. Who has struggled or whether you're gonzaga. You know you're going to play a very very good basketball team. And i had them earlier in the year they can shoot it. They defend it. They play hard. I don't think they're overly talented and the kid to get something done but lon kruger is so good at dictating pace. That if i'm sitting here with gonzaga i wanna lesser coach in my second round game assuming that they win. What do you got. Well you know i actually. I think missouri can win that game. A jeremiah tells me he's going to have to go out guard on out on a primitive 'cause they're playing brady at the five and they've run them all over the place on the other side though rate mattis gutter guard that dude on the block to is become a good player control martin's team when they're older and more mature and her physical they are talking tournament. Think about what he did tennessee. So you know this is going to be really good game because you've got a tough physical team in missouri. You've got a team that attacks match ups plays almost four guards in oklahoma. I'm actually leaning towards missouri in this match up. Well you're going to be wrong and that's okay you can be. It's okay. I can be wrong. It will be the first time won't be the last time and you know that's right. I don't have either. We'll on from barry. I but i touched on that but also got to say tony bennett said that most of his team is in quarantine south. Now i don't know about you but that preston kid that plays at ohio university. Ooh yeah he can go and all of a sudden. You're talking about a team that wait a second. I know i know. Virginia's good. I know virginia came on. I know they ended up with the one seat in the acc tournament. But seth you're playing against a hot as hell ohio university team. A team led by jeff bowls. Who frankly he's the perga- guide ohio you because he loves ohio you. He played there with the with the shock of the mac. But when you're playing a team in quarantine sat that tells me they're not practicing. That tells me this is gonna be a hats. This'll be a good game regardless.

MSU Spartans... Presented by Rocket Mortgage?

"Michigan state has announced that its basketball team will now be called the msu spartans presented by rocket mortgage. You sit on a throne of lies. I would think so barat. it's true. Now here's the saving grace at. I believe in the way. I'm reading it. This is a story on. Yahoo is says the team will be called the michigan. The msu you know it presented by rocket mortgage at the breslin center. That's how they'll be known throughout the breslin center which is their home court their home arena so my guess rob is when near now announces a team. That's what he's going to call them at the beginning to gain when they come out for warm ups right before the game whatever. They're the msu sparks as presented by rocket mortgage. I don't expect that when they go elsewhere people are going to refer to them as that maybe they'll announce that before the game but obviously throughout the game everywhere you go. Call them the spartans or michigan state. You think i'm wrong. I mean there's it doesn't make it that much better but it makes it a little better to me. It's total nonsense. It's a allowed. Everything's not for sale. I'm sorry chris. I still respect the steinbrenner family. Chris for not taking the name. They could have put a name on yankee stadium on my right yes or no and made its montemar. Names right all right yankee stadium. How about madison square garden. Could it be very heels right. Could it be american express field reno. I mean they give me making money off of it and they won't do it. Can we have something. Everything's not for sale. I get it dan gilbert. Who was the president of ragweed and look is an alum. He went there. He loves the sports. He tried to hire tommaso to coach the cast. Chris i get the relationship. He's he's a spartan just beat the presenting sponsor when they when they make that announcement. You don't need to the msu sports presented by rocket mortgage. Why would you do that to your alma mater right. Well that's what i'm saying if it's anything but what i said right if is anything but okay well. We announced the team. You know we're announcing the starting lineup. The now star lineup. So the ms you spartans presented by rocket mortgage. But okay. i can deal with that. But if there you got jerseys now. And if that's what their official name is going to be elsewhere. There's a major problem. And i agree with you like and this is just this just shows the other greed. We talked about it and they're not paying players these deals. This is just a pity of the degree of this now rob. I'll even say this. I would've rather them. Just call them. The msu rockets michigan state rockets. Not is that this is ridiculous. This really is bad. And i just don't understand what all the money my god is it. Okay right don't get every nickel chris. I still would have been a sponsor right. There's tons of money probably just not as much maybe wide. I don't know how much is enough. I don't get it seriously. It's ridiculous like i say again. I'm betting that is just going to be announced at various times but not consistently

3 Reasons Why Big East is the Most Intriguing Basketball Tournament

"Is my real opinion. I think the big east tournament is the most intriguing one for for this reason. There's a handful of reason number. One villanova has no point guard now. Justin moore ankle the kospi's we just found out that justin. Moore's not going to be playing in this thing Twenty seven points per game between those two now. I mean the game from villanova as we know in the new iterations of the biggies has been dominant. They win the regular season. Big east tournament right over there still time and here still good enough to win at eight. So let's not get ahead of ourselves and count them out yet but it makes it a lot more interesting because it's like. Oh what house villanova congress because your best player yes. He's not playing. Yeah what what are the what's going to happen. They're seen hall saint john's. I'm looking at this game on thursday. That is like a. I don't know if it's a plan but it's play out for sure. Whoever loses that game doesn't that's intriguing creighton. The greg mcdermott situation. I hear you say loser leaves town man. That was really the we we know the greg mcdermott's situation they got bruin there but like they're they're they're working through. Whatever that is like xavier saver that is on the bubble. They'll they might be playing crates and crates trying to get some mo jo bags and butler had that one game against villanova where they realized life and then and then we get to the bottom of the bracket with yukon you. Let's be honest. Your own has slowly turned into the favorites and again this is not a companyman move. I know we have coach. Dan hurley on the show today but uconn in the you know the majority of the country it feels like they don't know who to look to to college basketball and therefore defacto we go to uconn right here. We are back in the big east for the first year. Back in madison square garden in the big eastern star seem to be a line if you're yukon though bula there

Wolves fire Saunders, hire Finch as new coach

"We've got a head coaching change in the nba. The timber wolves have fired head coach. Saunders but i. I had a game to play brian. Sanders was coaching against the guy. He replaced tom sibito of the new york knicks. Having a great season there is game. Went down to the wire. Karl anthony towns had shot in the post to try and take the lead with thirty seconds left over his former teammate. Taj gibson but it rimmed out on a rim in madison square garden. Where the ball. Just capterra women out on sunday and that was ryan saunders. Final quarter as head. Coach of the minnesota timberwolves took over for his late father. Flip saunders in twenty nineteen thirty four year old had a string of injuries to deal with and played many many close games and the timber wolves already have saunders replacement chris finch who was a raptors assistant coach. This season has been given a multi year deal by the minnesota timberwolves to coach them full time. It's a rare move to pluck an assistant from another team. Mid season to take over job just doesn't happen very often. Usually the team that fires a head coach just moves their assistant over for a while at the very least when the full job search can be done until the full job search can be done in the off season but they had been looking at chris finch for a long time in fact he interviewed in twenty nineteen when ryan saunders was eventually given the job and finch like his good friend raptors head coach. Nick nurse coached abroad for a longtime uk. Germany and belgium then moved to the g. league and then was assistant in the nba for a decade. And he's an offensive specialist who worked with james harden in zion. Now he'll have the chance to work with karl. Anthony towns anthony edwards.

I guess there's two things and don't be a dick but the the biggest one is definitely until you have some formal Market 5th and you can find out if you go to market fit pretty quickly just talk to people ask questions find the right people finding users find those things find out how much they willing to pay find out if they're willing to basically walk or use your product find out all these sort of things and grow that first before you start thinking. Oh, this is amazing. This is going to work cuz I think there's there's and and then I guess the other one actually is learned from birth. Past experiences and a lot of people don't do that, especially with a t Sports because the history have a have a chat to someone like either myself or have a chat like don't talk to someone who's a consultant that's been in the year in in the game two years talked to someone who's being in the industry for twenty years because they will tell you a lot more valuable information than someone who's been in there for two years and only knows about the currency because the current scene it's all about raising this big money about raising this big capital and you don't get the history of like the companies like tournament.com the raised a hundred million dollars and went broke over six months. You don't have seats need a CDL or CTS. I think it is that raised a hundred million dollars as well and we're broke after a year-and-a-half. You don't have all of these kind of things and we're play verse was as an example before they became what they raised what they are now off and that that you kind of could find on the internet even though I know the history there and there's a lot of other companies like that that you'll that you you only get from the perspective of people that have actually been in the industry because people have a game Get it either scrubbing the internet or it's just hard to find anything that isn't relevant now absolutely agree. It's the same advice. I give to student journalists. I talked to quite a few classes about hey, what could you do any sports journalist? What if we want to get involved in this space? And the first thing I tell them is get to know the history of the space get to know everything that happened with Major League Gaming from 2002 to 2010. That's where the start get to the creedy sports Association how this developed in Asia and that will guide your accurate reporting on this space if you understand what happened long before you probably got involved in it that was the case for me cuz we got a school, you know, I was in the 2015 2016 range was like, oh massive Madison Square Garden League of Legends. This is crazy thing off you go back in time and you're like, okay, let's look at the Madden tour bus as like an example of where it's these things that happen is sports over the time that I think are really crucial job. Like understand how we got to the place where at today and then helped give you those guiding lessons to make sure that the same mistakes aren't made. Well MLG an ESL at two really good examples of understanding their Acquisitions why they happened what happened with the issues they ran into especially MLG with God Frank cuz they had a whole pile of litigation issues with God frag when they did their acquisition why they got acquired by Activision and wage. It's it's an interesting story. That's probably better for another time. But in terms of those sort of things and that history that was kind of built there is actually really important because getting a quiet is a skilled gaming platform different platform broadcasting platform any of those by a publisher is a huge problem from both illegal Nightmare and a whole pile of other things because the skilled gamer is 18 plus as well as the tournament system requires 18 plus or Parental Guidance cetera, et cetera. So it becomes a Minefield on those sort of things and then you've got ESL same thing going through their acquisition and the different times they are now with mods. This group and and the difference in the kind of the company structure cuz everyone says he s l and they see these companies and they're like, they must be making it a billion dollars and I'm like, yeah doesn't look like that. It may seem like that from the outside cuz they're doing these large events and they're doing these things. But in terms of the revenue is not driven as much as you kind of think from that. It's really driven through the Publishers. Yeah, if you're done if you're not the publisher gave and you work a t sport chances are the money is not flowing your exactly there's only a few Outlets the kind of work and I've been in basically every single facet of that because I used to run events with the young. I used to run a lot of those sort of things with them for a long time. Actually u c l e s w c w c g a lot of the events around those and running those Live Events is is great. But it's like a break even marketing cost. It's not a it's it's what you'll use to fuel income elsewhere. Not what you're used to make money lost leader marketing basically at this point. Yeah, exactly. That's it's a funny industry to be it especially as we look at where these Sports organizations are going. This is totally off topic. By the way. Just the I had em for this wasn't for a podcast but I talked to Jason Lake in Andy Miller Jason Lake complexity CEO Andy Miller NRG CEO for audience. I do you do that. They were basically talking about hey, we're going to make Revenue eventually with our religious the Publishers of Olives. That's that's what we're counting on to make money in the mean time. We're going to keep building our brand up in whatever way we can we're to keep trying to capture feds. But really we just need to log get to a point where Publishers need us to enter the game because that will bring fans that will bring the marketing there looking for and then the Publishers have to reward us for doing so and that's kind of just walk the biggest eastwards organizations in the world see this space right now and that's it tells a lot. I think it will you actually have a look at most of these Sports organizations or actually converting from competitive Play De comme Recreation almost all right, converting over to that for Revenue basis cuz I've talked to a lot of these guys you have come like you've got Team Liquid as an example of trying to push in the text side of things cuz we've talked to him a few times about what they're doing for Thursday. We also consulted with the guild who raised with David Beckham, or they paid David Beckham to re it was it was a debacle. It was a drastic they they they are doing a good job. I think they really heavily like ninety percent of the money that they raised is purely attack. It's not to do to build out the team and build out anything on that account on the arm competitive site is secured purely build out both the content side as well as a Tech play on them because of the end of the day all this content and everything that they're creating in these fans and these users they need to figure out a way to monetize them and monetizing them generally comes through like merchandise. It comes through tourneys to come home a brand deals. And unfortunately, if you're the best game in the world, it doesn't mean you have a massive following you may not be entertaining to watch. So therefore content creation becomes king for this and which dog And fuels Brands which in turn fuels everything else and like I just talking to so as as Consulting with IDC, I think like probably a couple of weeks ago. I was I was talking to them cuz they're doing metro sports at the moment and it was a pretty interesting conversation cuz they're one of the first companies that isn't Yuzu that isn't that they're doing it. They're doing Esports Revenue a very different way. So Esports Revenue right now is off late. It is how much so it's like one point two billion or something. It's basically nothing compared to the publisher revenues like a hundred and sixty billion. So and that's where most of the revenue from E Sports is actually going. So what they're doing is they're doing a bottom-up kind of approach and looking at all of these other things that are kind of skewing it. So right now Esports revenue is calculated with just brands that are paying for events and advertising and all the way around that around which basically whereas they're looking at it from the other side of things and they're like, look, there's all this gambling Revenue that's also generated on top of Like betting on these matches and all this this looking that's that's showing any sports revenue and you've got companies like skills that their revenue alone for skills is bigger than the revenue of every single e sports team exists in the world in his voice. That's

Forgiving Yourself

"Hi everyone. Welcome to recovery. Happy hour where we talk about life beyond the bottle and what happens after we stopped drinking. I'm your host tricia. And i've had christmas decorations up including bringing nonstop pine tree scented candles since october twenty seventh. Thank you for joining me today. This intro topic was a very last minute thing but something happened to me last week that i thought you might benefit from it if i told you about it and that is forgiving yourself. I'm going to dive right into this. Is i've said before. I got sober in november of two thousand sixteen just after the trump presidential election so while that election was going on my drinking was at its worst. I was drinking everyday blacking out most of the time. I never knew what was going to happen. Once i had my first drink and i was in a deep deep. Shame spiral because. I didn't want anyone to know about my problem. I was obsessed with trying to make it. Look like i had my life together. Now when you quit drinking you get a whole year of sober firsts. Your first holiday season your first birthday. The triggers of seasonal changes in the weather sober sexting heartbreak stress. Cetera you know doing all these things for the first time without hall and after a full calendar year most of your i had been checked off the list but with the twenty twenty election. I was getting an unexpected i. I was experiencing my first presidential election without drinking but worse experiencing all of the triggers. That reminded me of when my drinking was really really dark. So when election day came this year couple of weeks ago i was nervous and i was even more nervous the next day as we awaited results sometimes when i have an anxiety attack which to be. Fair is very common for me. It feels like i'm pulled into a vacuum and sucked back in time to relive a moment from my past. Many things can trigger phenomenon in my brain but the day after the election this year was one of those instances all the stress and the nerves had the same flavor as the stress and nerves. I felt in two thousand sixteen and they triggered a total rerun of memories laced with shame self hatred confusion and the feeling of being physically ill every day in my anxiety attack. I relived with the worst of my drinking. Felt like. I happened to be in new york city during the election that year. I remember going to a concert at madison square garden. I remember trying desperately to keep drinking under control because my friend at the concert with me in recovery. And i didn't want him to know i had a problem. I remember ending our night early because out. Drinking the way that i wanted to drink alone was more important than visiting with my friend. I hadn't seen in a long time. I remember a handful of random bars. I don't remember leaving half of them. I remembered making friends with strangers under neon lights that i'd never see again except for in my endless stream of selfish on my phone the next day and i remember waking up every single morning feeling the same way feeling like i hated myself you know i was angry that i couldn't get this drinking thing right and i felt like a failure when i came to after this panic attack after reliving these memories i was shaking and not really sure how to process what i just felt but luckily i had therapy that night and talked about it with my therapist. She suggested doing more of the inner child work that i've been doing. But instead of going back to my child self go back to tricia in november of two thousand sixteen and work on forgiving her instead. If you go back and listen to episode one hundred and to know that inner child healing is a method of reconnecting with the traumas that we may have experienced as a child to connect some of the reasons for our adult fears are habits or certain life patterns when we begin to understand them. We can start healing them and for me this has been a lot of forgiveness work keno going back and imagining sitting with little anxious perfectionist tricia and forgiving her for all the things she was always shaming herself for. It's been a powerful exercise. So i made some time the next morning to try this same exercise with two thousand sixteen election era tricia. Here's what i figured out. There have been so many times. When i've looked back at my past and rolled my eyes at my decision making when i was drinking. I've called myself names. I've shamed myself a beat myself up for taking so long to quit. But you know what i haven't done haven't accepted the fact that i was doing the very best i knew how to do. With the time you know with those limited coping skills that i had no one taught me how to sit and journal my feelings without them. Being numbed by alcohol no therapists said tricia. You're going to process your divorce a lot faster. If you let yourself feel your pain. No one pulled me aside and said you're working too much. Maybe you could be kinder to yourself and not spend your few free hours of the day inside of a bottle drinking. It always worked for me. You know what. I was comfortable doing and even when it started working against me. I just didn't have the tools to know of any kind of alternative so in that forgiveness meditation. Last week i sat with twenty sixteen tricia and forgave her for just doing her best. She was sad. She was scared she needed someone to say you're going to be okay. It's not all your fault. I forgive you for all of it. And i love. You

"But how the clippers came to settle on Englewood has been more of a question. What happened behind the scenes and while they're building the new football stadium. Yeah. Right. And kind of make sense if you're gonna football stadium kind of have the entertainment area around there, you see a lot of metropolitan cities. Yeah. And that would really create this sort of critical mass for the region of two NFL teams there then fell network moving to the development around the football stadium. You put a. There at NBA arena with the team there. I mean, and then you have the forum nearby as well. It's a terrific concert venue. You really cooking then. So what's the problem? The problem is with the form. So the folks who owned the forum Madison Square Garden company, the New York based company they on the Knicks and the Rangers and at Tanah stuff the powerful their giant. They of course owned the form, and they were not happy that the clippers are pursuing an arena nigga would they alleged that the mayor had tricked them and to Seraing a lease for the land where the clippers wanna build the Serena the mayor denies this. But it's kicked off because if the clippers move now the forum loses concerts to the new battery. Yeah. Okay. Because you got to fill those empty dates. It's basketball team only takes up fifty dates year something like that that leaves three hundred ten some odd days, you gotta fill up or at least try to fill the forms. I know don't come here because we don't wanna lose our tenants. So after this project was announced in June. Twenty seventeen it ended up just kicking off a nasty nasty legal fight between the city of Englewood, Madison Square Garden and the clippers. There are a tunnel lawyers involved more than I can count. And as part of this people been deposed, there've been a lot of emails turned over during discovery all this kind of stuff that goes on with lawyers. You're just going toe to toe and brawl on it out usually doesn't involve companies powerful and as recognizable as Madison Square Garden, the clippers. And then you have the city that's on the cusp of a real transformation in Inglewood. But as part of that there was a filing in LA superior court in January of about eleven hundred pages of emails and other documents. They were supposed to be filed under seal that means that folks like you, and I can't see him unless you the lawyer judge in the case nobody else can see him. So they're supposed to be filed onto seal. They weren't why. Somebody just messed up somebody just messed up that simple. Like, I'm not a lawyer pretending play one. I have lawyer friends. So it's. Really simple. Yeah. So these documents were available for about a week anybody could download them and being a good reporter. I did. So and disappeared from the did, you know, or how did, you know? I mean, I think your sources, but what made you think that there's something there? I checked court filings every day. Oh, yeah. It's the part of the job, and I'm kind of the obsessive type. So there's a number of cases, we keep is on. That's one of anybody can do this your central computer and yellow through LA county superior court, and you see this and you see the name clippers. There's a few different cases related to the spat over the arena. And I check those those are among those. I check every day and night gender every scrap of paper because you never know when you're going to get Ted bit. That's going to lead. You a interesting story or help to increase our understanding and Morton community's understanding of what's really going on. So were you working on a previous story? Yeah. I've been following this and reporting on it from the get-go, and it's a fascinating situation because you add the Serena right across the street from the football stadium. And again, you're talking about entertainment destination that is maybe unrivalled. I mean, it's a. Big ill. We'll get this. Right. Somebody's supposed to put this under seal. So you may than fennel finale times, it doesn't see it. They don't do it this pops up and you start reading it. And what do you discover it's a gold mine of information. But it's information that had been turned over during the discovery process, and it primarily consisted of emails to or from one of the clippers minority owners guy named Dennis Wong who turned out was a college roommate of St..

"Unfortunately, New Jersey had more of them a couple of days off now for the Blackhawks as they hang out in New York before taking on the Rangers at Madison Square Garden coming up on Thursday. We'll have more details on that coming up a little bit later on in the post game show, but let's get some reaction from the prudential center after this loss to start with the head coach Jeremy calls it. Progress isn't linear take away from the game like this? Yeah, we were already. Thoroughly give ourselves a chance. You know, we've battled back couple of times, but it was kind of fool's gold. I think. So we we got to leave this one behind over. All we've been in a lot of games and keeping hard most nights. And hopefully, that's not I don't think that was us. So let's see that again. What are you? What went into defensible? Oh, we'd wanted to get. And. A little flexibility to play the guys that are going. Going tonight. Psychosis in the third grade. Yeah. Yeah. A little more. Yeah. Obviously. Defensively again. Being ready all the time games always online when you're out there. So he can impact the game in a positive way for us. I'm kinda beginning with the legs weren't there was missile. I'm not sure I think they. They were aggressive in Connor hills. They they want a lot of fifty fifty s early early. Puck was bouncing quite a bit. Only gays was great off the wall. We're always coming off kind of skipping. Then they were just pressuring us. And we we weren't really. We didn't do that to them that it's us. And so they control the game. Whether that's energy your legs. I don't know. But I would like to find a way. Anyway, you're not gonna feel great eighty two nights here. So. Tonight. We just couldn't find a solution seemed like Cain was trying to think. Never like that again like this. Yeah. He was good. They're just. Look like, we're out of it. But never really out of it is it makes a couple of plays in the Murray back in. It was a challenge. I want to be playing on much as we did. I mean, obviously with eleven fours we knew he was going to get more. And then he was really good. So. He put him on the ice, and he looks he looks fresh the whole time. So. It's amazing. You keep ward in. If you go score those last two goal lead in the second period. When all of a sudden, maybe there was a chance they're gonna keep you out of this. It was more like we weren't playing really well in front of them and. Try to get him other. Mike our plant. Yeah. It was good. I mean, he was still give up.

"Things are changing WWE decided not to run television at Madison Square Garden anymore. You know, none of the TV shows are run at Madison Square Garden. They I'm sure if WWE wanted to the hall of fame, it would have been nice if takeover I mean wouldn't have been cool to see takeover Madison Square Garden 'cause it probably what they would have named it. They wouldn't have even called it. Take takeover New York. It would have been takeover Madison Square Garden because it would have been so significant that annex t was running a pay per view, Madison Square Garden, but business is business. You know, you can't you can't do that in Barclays amazing venue. And if it makes more business sense to run out of Barclays, it makes more business sense to run out of Barclays, but what you're doing is sacrificing Madison Square Garden for potentially another company to run that place. And that's exactly what happened. I don't know if WWE thought that it would never happen or of WWE just in care. You know, there's a possibility that WWE doesn't care all that much because. They're running four nights at the Barclays and MetLife stadium that weekend. It's not like, it's a direct competition. Right. But. It is a big deal. I mean, I care if it was my building. But who knows who knows it's a huge deal in the wrestling world that this is happening. It's a huge deal. You know as much of a big deal. It is that a an organization like ring of honor is running Madison Square Garden, and it is unfortunate for ring of honor because they're doing with new Japan, obviously. But the real story, and the reason that it's number six on my list of top ten things that happened in wrestling this year is because WWE isn't. You know, because a wrestling show that's not WWE is coming to Madison Square Garden that to me is really my big story of the year. In as far as number six goes that is what mas- the Madison Square Garden stories all about that wrestling is going to be there, and it's not WWE, and I don't think any of us, especially east coasters grew up that would ever happen. Now. I don't actually think that it's like. Bad news for WWE. I just think that it's it's change, you know, and we have to realize that things are changing, you know, it's interesting. It's not that different from WWE showing up and running their TV on TV s except for the fact that there wasn't another station for crooked promotions to go put their their their wrestling on immediately, you know, in compete with. You know, it's kind of it's kind of similar except I think that the east coast will embrace ring of honor and new Japan being at Madison Square Garden because there's so many wrestling fans here, plus it's wrestlemainia weekend, which means half of the people imagine Square Garden won't even be east coasters, the eastern Europeans, or whatever they'll be people from all over the world. They're here to see that show. And let's be honest WWE is responsible for getting the people to New York that weekend. You know, there's not very many anybody flying to New York from other parts of the world to see ring of honor and new Japan Madison Square Garden, there are people flying all over the world to see wrestlemainia in New York. So, you know, you do have to credit that although new Japan does get people to fly in from all over the world for wrestle kingdom. So it's not unheard of. Let's move on a story number five and story. Number five. You know, it was interesting as I was making this list the. Top five was really really tough for me. My original list before I even thought when Johnny things down number five was actually my original number one believe it or not. And it went all the way down to number five. Because once I got the ten stories that I wanted to do it was hard to justify the four above this not being in the top four. My number five story is Ronda Rousey comes to WWE, Ronda Rousey, not only in the sense that she's a big star. And she came to WWE, but what she's done. You know? I think that the jury was still out on her when she first got here..

"Seven four four seven six six six. Hey is speaking of that audio was there a time where you're more nervous than whenever we put out an audio. Whenever we broke that what you got. Oh, man. I was pretty nervous or you. Yeah. That was whenever I sent you the Texas it go go go yet. And I was a you're seriously. No, no, no, you creating media to go online. And does it was a mad? Dash is crazy. It's still every day. It seems like we can notification somebody who's liked it or reached with game. And now all this time later, it's I mean, even like last week we had something like one hundred and twenty plays on that post. It's still going around. Oh, man. It is increasing. Let's get out with our friend Chris level who is at Madison Square Garden game's about to tip off here in about ten minutes from now Chris level and live from the Big Apple Chris level, red raiders sports. How things looking level. Well, it's this is an interesting. You know, it's city, you know. So it's it's chaotic everywhere you look, but a big test for the red raiders tonight. Certainly don't really what to expect. But this is going to be one of the toughest teams that Texas Tech plays all season. Yeah. And I can't remember a game as big as except for the tournament last year. But can you recall a bigger preseason game or pre conference game? Not really I think I I was asking earlier, and I'm not sure that I've ever seen your two top ten teams like this. And the fact that it's in the sold out mess it's worth, and they met that adds a whole layer everything in the tricky part is is that we all have to kind of keep saying perspective beat still have, you know, big non conference game versus Arkansas, you still have eighteen conference games. But we're just getting started here. But there's a lot of attention on this game. Rightfully so. But if it goes, well, or it doesn't go. Well, they're still long way to go. You'll be calling the the game coming up at six o'clock ninety seven three. That's where we we're gonna get out of this show. Just a little bit early to make sure that we're at home watching it as well with the Falker fire roast in tell us. So what do you think are some keys again Tusla bit about this Duke team? And what you think keys the game are coming up. Well, Jay, I would tell you that, you know, next next, I guess June. Whenever the NBA draft gets here. You're gonna hear Duke mentioned probably in three of the top five to six picks and three of those players featured here tonight, I mean, and and you know, they have their point guard is like a life first round pick some of this is different deal here, you know, RJ Barrett camera tish and Zaylon Williamson or the three guys their focus on the interesting thing is is that they don't do a whole lot to try to trick you they don't it's gonna be fairly simple. But they wanna get up down the floor and score score score. They're not interested in gardening for long periods of time. If you're Texas checking we'll turn this thing into a fight..

"This is good. Todd gets out, this gets up. We're videoing the show you could've just asked me later for the phone. You didn't have to interrupt. I mean, I didn't want to be a bother, right? I just wanted to stop the show interview. The crowd had ends them to do homework. Have you have you thought about what adulting, first of all, do you think you'll be back in time for its second of all summer slim? No, that's not. Hey, tune in on Sunday guys? Not an England. Have you thought about what a Dalton castle entrance could potentially look like in April at Madison Square Garden? Oh, boy. Lots of confetti. Oh boy, environmentally dangerous with the amount of confetti, a lots of voice. Lots of one's okay. Take a look at them and the amount of people in this room now make each and every one of them a boy. Is that really your thought of just like just what I do, but a lot of it. Yeah. Me, but you know, dialed up to the bourbon. So have you eight, but but is that like when when that in the movie, the mummy where like the sand becomes alive, I want the sand grains to be boys the entrance that you win. But yeah, it's good, but it's actually that would work. But hey, does that become when that show gets announcing obviously sold out? Does that become a goal of like, I have to make sure if whenever I'm coming back and has to be by then. Yeah, it is exciting. That's the problem with all this great stuff happening with all in Madison Square Garden down spin and just about everything in wrestling. Be an awesome as I'm sidelined because I want to get excited about it. I want cert- preparing mentally like what would I do in the situation, but really all I want to focus on his getting back in the ring. First and foremost, it doesn't matter how or where I'm doing it. I, I just want to get better and I want to start performing again. That's all I wanna. Do you have no sort of time line? No, no, I've I've been set a date. Yeah. Nothing like that. Or doctor could do that. Like, I don't know why you would like you would just make up when you're going to be better? Doctors would. Lie and Sam. Good by this date, right? No. But I mean, have you been to a doctor? No. Okay. That's the issue. Yeah. Yeah, you know. But I got one of those like those operation boards, the tongs and the electric. So you gotta get it? Yeah. I I mean. mean, you got the gist of it and that's good. My cat needs my back once in a while. Yeah, I guess what about that? I mean, you're you're, you're a family. Man. Does the the lady at home when you get an injury like this, that is this the worst injury van wrestling? Yeah, I've been this. Yeah, for sure that does she go like tape up an ankle, right? You can tape knee and all that. I've been through all that, but she was very supportive. She's always been supported my entire career since I told her, I'm going to start doing this silly stuff and she she's been behind me ever since and then dealt with the the longtime have been gone. The no money I was making in now when I can't get out of bed and I'm mopey and depressed. And I just I'm, I'm just the worst be around, right? We're all thinking the same thing she has yet to divorce. So she does, but she now going like, oh my God, I see how dangerous this is. I don't want you to do that anymore. No, no. She understands that she has never once said you knew start thinking about a new career. She just keeps finding of. Keeping on me about doing the PT and getting back into it because she knows I'll be happier person where I'm out there and I sort life gets easier to. She knows how important it is to me so she she keeps me on track. And do the boys panic your boys that you come to? The ring went to? They panic when when when daddy leaves what's left after the boys? Gee, I don't. I don't know what's going through those tiny little minds. I mean, quite frankly, you don't have them around for their minds. Do you know? No, no, no, no. They must've been a world..

"They're gonna go, see this new Japan ring of honor show. I'm sure they're going to be people there that have never seen ring of honor or new Japan in their lives before, but because it's wrestlemainia weekend there in town. This. There is nothing doom and gloom about this for WWE. 'cause I got a couple of tweets like that to nothing about this is threatening to WWE of anything. This is just a Pat on the back to WWE about. What they've made with their weekend. I think WWE deserves part of the credit for this sellout I think ring Avante and new Japan deserve the line share. I think Madison Square Garden is a building deserve some of the share, and I think WWE for creating wrestlemainia weekend as we know it deserves some of the credit for the fact that they sold out Madison Square Garden. There's a reason why ring of honor pick that day. With new Japan to run Madison Square Garden. They knew that the WWE was going to track this audience. There's a reason why wrestle con takes place in whatever city wrestlemanias in because they know the WWE has created this weekend that attracts all these wrestling fans to this town. Now that still means that wrestling is as healthy as it's ever been outside of WWE. But that certainly doesn't mean that it's any kind of slide on WWE. If anything this is this is proved that WWE is is doing well. You know, in a roundabout sort of way, I think that that you know. It's interesting because I think organizations outside of WWE doing well is good for wrestling, but it's almost like. Organizations in order to run, and I don't even know if you need to run big arenas like this. But if you really want to run a big arena, like Madison Square Garden or like the arena they're doing for all in, you kinda do have to create super shows where it's everyone every major name that's not in WWE is on this show. So there's two bodies that can run Madison Square Garden WWE and not WWE ring of honor and new Japan combined is not WWE. And that's what can run opposite WWE everything that isn't, but it's got to be everything. It can't be one thing that isn't, if that makes sense. So congratulations to ring of honor being smart enough to come together with new Japan to create this show that has garnered this much interest. Congratulations to the wrestling world for creating alternatives. You know, I think that ultimately it's very, very positive. But I think that you know when when you compliment though wrestling world. You gotta compliment world wrestling entertainment, if that makes sense. You know, show like all in. That's a different story. That's a totally different story. But you know, if you're running wrestlemainia weekend, you know why you're running wrestlemainia weekend, but that's not to take anything away from ring of honor or new Japan for coming together like this. I think it's a spectacular and I'm really, really looking forward to the show, you know, I'm sure I'll watch annex t live, but I'll watch the ring of honor new Japan show right after it's going to be a fun. Saturday fund will Saturday. I don't know if we have time..

"This year and that just amazing on offense this is played at madison square garden as we know madison square garden didn't is a tremendous under arena now this often make as much of a difference for these teams whose it would have smaller conference because you guys are used to playing here they've played here before uh at least most of them the older guys um and you know like you said st john's is certainly used to playing here but you know overall still i you don't like really having a team that shoots a bunch of 3pointers that sold worry me about a team my creighton enough because uh conference tournament to me madison square garden though they are somewhat used to it it still a negative for shooters one more thing i think we should talk about ears we're talking about some of these deeper conference tournaments and this was my mistake renounce on on on monday is something that i should have brought up is that you you're playing three games in three days four games and four days and when you're in one of these really good conferences where you i mean everyone's kind of beating everybody in this conference throughout the year and there are a few others ruining talk about on today's show where that has been the case depth become such a factor because you don't get a pseudo by game like you have your play the conference usa conference something like that middle tennessee state you'll while they are a deep team while they run yeowah a lot of guys out there to commit davis your they're playing some games in the early rounds where they don't really have to exert themselves too much in a conference hermitlike this or like the acc or something like that you're not getting those gimme games you're playing legit competition you have to work your ass off in every game that you play so i think it's one thing that we need to start focusing on here a little bit more with these major conferences ruin to talk about today is depth is so much more important in these premier league's so who is the deepest team in this league.
