Sen. Ted Cruz: The American People Don't Want 87,000 New IRS Agents
"Here's senator Ted Cruz over the weekend. Madam president, there are a lot of bad things in this bill, but fewer worse than the proposal by Democrats in this bill to double the size of the IRS and create 87,000 new IRS agents. I guarantee you citizens and every one of our states, if you ask them, what do they want? They don't want 87,000 new IRS agents. And they're not being created to audit billionaires or giant corporations. They're being created to audit you. The House ways and means committee, the minorities put out an estimate that under this bill, there will be 1.2 million new audits per year with over 700,000 of those new audits falling on taxpayers making $75,000 or less. I believe personally we should abolish the IRS, but at a minimum we shouldn't make the IRS larger than The Pentagon, the State Department, the FBI, and the border patrol all combined. That's what the Democrats are proposing here. It is a terrible idea. If you don't want 87,000 new IRS agents, vote yes. Good for you. Senator Cruz. Unfortunately, elections have consequences. And the Republicans, they just didn't have the votes. They don't have the votes in the House of Representatives. So we're about to get 87,000 more IRS agents, and they're coming after all of us. That's who they're coming after. They're coming after you conservatives. They're coming after you, Christians. That's what's going to happen. Oh,

Eric at the YAF Convention: Self-Government is a Miracle
"Government had never been tried in the history of the world, ever. And because of that, there was a serious question when you go into that place and independence hall in 1787 and that summer, will you be able to come out with this idea with this constitution that says, yes, genuinely we can govern ourselves or are you going to come out of there saying, you know what? There's a reason we've never had a genuinely free people before because it doesn't work. People are selfish and people do what they want. They need somebody over them. It's not going to work. This republic thing, it's too radical. It can't work. They literally didn't know. So when misses Powell Philadelphia says, what have you given us doctor Franklin, a monarchy or a republic, I always thought his answer was kind of this cheeky, you know, if you know a little bit about Franklin, he was kind of this wit. So as a republic madam, if you can keep it. And I realize no. Off the cuff, he said this, but he meant, first of all, the question was genuine. This wasn't like, let me just ask this. These people really didn't know what have you been doing in that building for a hundred days. Were you able to pull this off? This is what I said before. Do you understand how wild insane preposterous the idea of self government is? If you understand that, you realize what happened in constitution in the constitutional convention, independence hall in the summer of 1787 was essentially a miracle. It was at least a miracle of history. So he comes out and he says a republic madam if you can keep it. Now, that's the title of the book because what Franklin understood and what I've just shared with the golden triangle of freedom is that if you don't keep the republic, the republic doesn't keep itself.

Nancy Pelosi Refuses to Condemn Violence Against Churches
"Because if I told you the Nancy Pelosi. Ripped up the speech, the State of the Union address right in front of Donald Trump, you wouldn't have believed it. You'd say that's right out of an episode of veep. She's not that maniacal. She's not that nefarious, which she did it. Remember? Will you ever forget the image of Nancy Pelosi ripping up the text of president Trump's State of the Union, ripping it up, seconds after he completed the speech? Has there ever been a more despicable act by a public servant in the history of America? Yesterday, she was asked, why aren't Democrats condemning? The firebombings, the violent attacks on godly pro life pregnancy centers and churches all around America. We've made sure in context you can hear the question and the evil evil answer. Abortion case is concerned. On churches on crisis pregnancy centers, Republicans are going after Democrats for not saying anything and they're saying that your rhetoric is contributing to the tax on these prices. Well, let me just say this. A woman has a right to choose to live up to her responsibility. It's up to her. Her doctor, her family, her husband, her significant other, and her God. This talk politicizing all of this, I think, is something uniquely American and not right. Can you believe that? Can you believe, can you believe that's the answer to the question? A woman has a right to, hey, madam speaker, what do you think about churches being firebombed? A woman has a right to choose, it's like it's like Tourette syndrome.
Nancy Pelosi Won't Present Bill to the House That Protects Justices
"Nancy I call your Nancy Sundance Bologna I mean Pelosi On the Fox business channel on Capitol Hill yesterday Nancy will you vote for a bill to protect the justices Nancy And I'll tell you why this is so relevant in so many ways cut three go So yesterday nearly 50 members of Congress sent over a letter to House speaker Nancy Pelosi urging her to bring the Senate bill to the floor for a vote And then when she was pressed by Fox business on this whether she was going to do that Pelosi dodged the question I think that need for protection should relate to whatever threat that it's there and that's a judgment that is made by our law enforcement people You have to build madam speaker It passed unanimously Do you have a plan to bring it up for a vote in the House And protection depends on the threat And that's up to the law unfortunately So the Senate passes unanimously a bill to increase protection of Supreme Court Justices because shockingly they're not well protected And Pelosi won't bring the vote won't bring the bill to the floor of the house to vote on
Nancy Pelosi Is Hung up on Previous Democrat Wins
"You want to hear a prime example of Democrat fear panic and denial, I give you the madam speaker herself. I have absolutely no intention of the Democrats not winning the House in November. I think that in terms of our the work that this president has done and it's been a great president, I don't know about polls, but I do know about winning the races one district at a time. When we won in 18, we won 40 seats, 31 in Trump districts. They're giving us a clue. 31 in Trump districts. He wasn't on the ballot. I said, now comes the hard part, because he's now on the ballot in 2020. So we lost about a third of those seats, but the ones who won are practically ironclad. Some of them have. Different tweaks for better or worse on redistricting, but we expect them all to come back and to add to our number. I hate to be petty. I really hate to be nasty and mean spirited, but I can't wait to hear her first press conference after November 8th, 2022.
Energy Secretary Granholm: Biden Policies Didn't Affect Gas Prices
"Josh hawley is a listener to the text my pillow text line just pointed out. Josh hawley was one of only 11 who didn't agree with sending $40 billion of our money, taxpayer money to Ukraine. The texture says he's great. We need more like him. Listen to senator hawley confronting this mealy mouth wishy washy, non committal energy secretary because after all, one would think that when people are looking at maybe $6 a gallon for gas, they got to deflect blame. And the record high gas prices have to be anybody's fault, but theirs listen to this exchange. And I'm sure you've seen the reporting this morning that now triple-A is projecting that gas prices will hit a national average average of $6 a gallon by the month of August, is this acceptable to you? No, it is not. And you can thank the activity of Vladimir Putin for invading Ukraine and pulling a oh, nonsense. With all due respect, madam secretary, that's utter nonsense. In January of 2021, the average gas price in my state was $2 and 7 cents. 8 months later, 8 months later, long before Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine, that price was up over 30%, and it has been going up consistently since. What are you doing to reverse this administration's policies that are drawing down our own supply of energy in this country that are throttling oil and gas production in the United States of America? What are you doing about it? Sir, it is not administration policies that have affected supply and demand. How can you say
Sen. Josh Hawley Fights Energy Secretary Over Rising Gas Prices
"The energy secretary, Jennifer grantham, tried to claim that none of the Democrat policies have contributed to the gas price crisis we're in. None of the Biden policy she claimed had anything to do with the price of gasoline. You got to hear this. This is classic stuff. And this is why I love somebody like senator Josh hawley. A fighter, a bruiser, he's sharp elbow, takes no prisoners. He's the kind of warrior we're going to need if we have a chance of saving our country. Listen to this exchange between senator Josh hawley and the energy secretary yesterday on Capitol Hill. Coming out of COVID. So what explains the increase between January and August? Coming out of COVID coming out of COVID, there was an increase in demand because people were driving again. When there was no demand, the prices dropped. That is a basic law of economics. The price is dropping. I have to say, madam secretary with all due respect, your answers are insulting. And they are insulting to the people of Missouri who are looking for action. Now, you said two months ago, your department was on war footing. What are you doing to bring down the price of gasoline, which has been going up consistently since you took office? The price of gasoline is derived from the price of oil, the price of oil is at a $110 a barrel. What are you doing? Sir, if you could let me finish.
Opening Remarks: Volodymyr Zelenskyy Speaks to U.S. Congress
"The zelensky address to Congress underway, breaking now on the Mike Gallagher show. Axios is calling it zelensky's shame on you tour. We're going to listen to the Ukrainian president who is addressing Congress. Let's take you to Capitol Hill. Good morning. Good morning, mister president, good morning, madam ambassador who is with us this morning, not in ambassador. Ambassador makarova. Mister president, it is my honor to present to you the Congress of the United States, which has great respect and admiration and appreciation for your courageous leadership. Members of Congress, I have the high privilege and distinct honor of presenting to you the president of Ukraine, Vladimir zelensky. So there's zelensky on a big screen and of course Congress giving him a standing ovation. His Nancy Pelosi practicing Ukraine. Thank you very much. Members of new Congress, ladies and gentlemen. Americans, Friends. I'm proud to greet you from Ukraine from our capital city of cave. City that is under missile.
"madam vice" Discussed on The Suburban Women Problem
"And here is the better path forward. So I got a little irritated after the State of the Union when everyone wanted to talk about Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren boebert and they're like outbursts that were like, you know, they're little tantrum. But meanwhile, we have for the first time ever, madam vice president Kamala Harris and madam speaker Nancy Pelosi sitting there in all of their class, right behind the president, and it totally overshadowed all of that. And so I got really frustrated. This is really amazing that we have these two women here. And not only that, it overshadowed all of the stuff that the president was saying in the State of the Union, which I think was the intent. That's all, that's all they do. That's literally how they get votes. They are not going to give votes on policy. They're not going to get votes on being logical. They're not going to get votes on common sense. They get votes on being ridiculous and commanding attention by doing stupid things. I mean, they're basically taking a note out of Trump's playbook when it comes to, oh, I am going to be, you know, say and do things that will make everyone look over there. Yes. He talked about pre-K, child tax credits, pell grants, affordable healthcare, bridges, broadband, let's talk about some of those policies. Exactly. Let's have the real discussion. And that's why they have the outburst because they're not a party of policies. They are a party of outbursts. It's so hard. I know we talk about conversations on this podcast. I know we talk about so much of the importance of having conversations and having a safe place and allowing people to change their mind. I'm having a hard time with that lately with so much. And we have Alex has been on TV a lot, he's been talking a lot. And there's been so, so much hate. And I know you guys have been through this too and you'll understand. Yes. But it's really hard to be like, okay, I'm going to extend a hand. Let me just today, I've got a lot of messages on Instagram. I don't know why I don't even have a public profile on Instagram, but I mean someone said that we should be hung. It's also hanged. I love how you're like, even though you're threatening me, I'm going to educate you on the proper grammar. I know. Or how to threaten me. Yeah. It is hard to want to engage and, you know, sometimes I'm like, I don't want to engage. I don't have a conversation. I just want to beat you. I don't want to be really, really bad..
‘Let Me Finish’ Kamala Harris Snaps at Savannah Guthrie During Touchy Interview
"You got to hear this exchange millions of viewers watched it on The Today Show with Savannah Guthrie and mamala Kamala. Let's talk about another comment the president made. He openly cast doubt on whether the 2022 midterm elections would be legitimate. He said it all depends. Which is astonishing to hear a president question whether our elections will be legitimate. We've heard it before, but not from this president. Is he really concerned that we may not have fair and free elections? The president has been consistent on this issue, and the issue at hand, the issue I was there last night. In the chamber of the Senate and the issue is that there are two bills, the John Lewis Voting Rights Act and the freedom to vote act. That have been the solution that has been offered to address the fact that around our country states have put in place laws that are purposely making it more difficult for the American people to vote. Laws which will be felt by at least 55 million Americans regardless of their party, affiliation, their race, their gender or their geographic location. Well, to the point that we have to pay it, but it's the bills were debated and they didn't have enough finish. But the specific question if you don't mind, does he think now that these bills haven't been passed that the 22 midterms won't be legitimate or fair or free? Let's not conflate issues. So what we are looking at and the topic of so much debate last night was that we, as America can not afford to allow this blatant erosion of our democracy and in particular, the right of all Americans who are eligible to vote to have access to the ballot unfettered. Madam vice president, you just cut called out by Savannah Guthrie on the top show. I mean, listen, it's getting to a point where Americans are saying, there ain't nothing we believe. I mean, we literally listen to Biden openly question the legitimacy of the midterms. We
Backlash After Madonna Reveals Her Team Have Been Working For Free
"No one else is lunacy. Madonna's most recent case of butt burn. She got all pissed off because she posted a bunch of pictures on Instagram and she's not happy that people are not supporting her art. She need to support her rod. She says she's not just complaining about not having been supported by non artistic people who objected, did you see those pictures about her? She did something for the magazine as if we all know V magazine. But the post in V magazine included a behind the scenes photo of the photographer Steven Klein holding a knife to her throat. I don't know why they thought it was edgy and she thanked the people who worked long hours for free all to support madam X that's her new moniker as you probably know. So she's worked with people who weren't paid all night for this photo shoot all day and all night. And she's being criticized for sharing this violent image of the knife to her throat and the fact that she made people work for free. These things don't work well for Madonna. She's going through it. And of course, you know, she did this awful photo shoot the other day with I showed you pictures on the Facebook podcast obsessed page. I'll get to that in a second. But this recent photo shoot for V magazine very controversial in which she alluded to Marilyn Monroe's death. And she said, I'm proud of my collaboration with Stephen Klein for V magazine and knowing that against all odds. And with very little support from non artistic people. That's you. Who can't pushing back and the fact that we did it with almost zero budget, we were still able to make
Gen. Mark Milley to Nancy Pelosi: 'I Agree With You on Everything'
"Mike gallagher. Maranda devine weighs in on the general milley thing in the new york post and so honestly if you're radio interviews generals who say well. It's not that big a deal. I mean generals talked to generals all the time you know. I talked yesterday about nancy. Pelosi is involved and that's what she dives into let me quote from her article. I mean journal. Mark milley became so deranged that he cast himself allegedly as the hero of a seven days in may style fever dream in only he could save the nation from trump trump launching nuclear war with china to stay in office. It's an insane scenario. Left wing equivalent of the most far-fetched cunanan conspiracies. She writes but this is what is claimed in. The woodward cost of book entitled peril show alarmed was the tightly wound. General about what he imagined. Trump might do that. He made secret calls his counterpart in china. Promising to warn them if the president ordered an attack. It's clear that milly or people authorized by him leaked details of his delusional daring due to a number of authors. Because he's proud of his actions. His lack of shane bodes ill for the country if he remains the nation's highest ranking military officer as chairman of the joint chiefs of staff the botched withdrawal of troops from afghanistan over which he presided was bad enough. She writes what's next and the most disturbing part she writes of the mili- story is nancy. Pelosi's malign influence. The general seem to treat her as his commander in chief pelosi who was engaged in a blood feud with trump that sent her batty manipulated and bullied. Milly a transcript of a call with pelosi two days after the january six capital riot obtained by the payroll authors has her ranting at about trump's access to nuclear weapons pelosi said if they couldn't even stop him from an assault on the capital who even knows what else he may do and is there anybody in charge of the white house who is doing anything but kissing his fat but all over this. He's crazy you know he's crazy. He's been crazy for a long time so don't say you don't know what his state of mind is. Milly reportedly responded madam speaker. I agree with you on
Nation's Top General Reportedly Held Secret Meeting to Cut off Trump From Nukes
"So bob woodward's out with a brand new book is he is Roughly weekly this one includes some amazing claims about general milley. The chairman of joint chiefs going outside the chain of command making clandestine contacts with china around the time of the election and the january sixth fracas. Also nancy. Pelosi going not sinned. In the claiming trump was insane and the nuclear codes needed to be taken away from him. Jen griffin did a terrific job. Is she always does on fox news encapsulating some of it. Let's let's go ahead and hit clip. Sixty one multiple pentagon officials tell me that some of the characterizations in the woodward and cost book are quote. Nonsense there was no secret meeting over nuclear procedures or attempt to undermine the president's authority. Here's what we do know. Two days after the capital riot house. Speaker nancy pelosi revealed she called general milley about taking the nuclear football away from president trump to prevent quote an unstable president from initiating military hostilities or or accessing the launch codes and ordering a nuclear strike pentagon officials pushing back on suggestions in the new woodward and cost a book that general milley put himself in the chain of command. I can report from my own conversations at the time with senior military sources. That during that phone call speaker pelosi was distraught following the events in the capital that day and was screaming demanded that general milley take the nuclear football away from the president. Those privy to the phone call told me at the time that general milley tried to reassure her and pushed back and repeatedly said madam speaker. You know i can't do that. You know milley told pelosi. There are lots of checks in the system to trump from going rogue pelosi then told me he's crazy you know he's crazy and remember. This is like right after the capital thing had happened. So she's you know all worked up he's crazy and what he did. Yesterday is further evidence of his craziness policy added referring to the capitol right. According to the book. Miller responded i agree with you on everything

Gallagher took to the floor of the house yesterday. cut number eighteen. Thank you madam speaker. I rise today to urge defeated the previous question so that we can consider my bill five zero seven one to ensure no americans are left behind in afghanistan over the past week. We've all seen the horrifying images coming out of kabul babies being passed over barbed wire two year olds trampled to death bodies falling from c. Seventeen these pictures are now forever painted onto american history and they don't depict the orderly withdrawal that the president promised these are instead portrait of chaos of tragedy and dishonor and yet the administration assures us they plan for every contingency was the plan for america to give billions of dollars worth of us military equipment to the taliban was the plan to put terrorists. Effectively in charge of security around the kabul airport. Was the plan to leave over. Ten thousand american citizens stranded behind enemy lines madam speaker. If this was the plan a plan to surrender so incompetently and on such ignominious terms then our country can't withstand any more of this administration's plants. It's time for this body. This congress to act to hold the administration accountable and save
Madonna's New Warner Music Group Deal: What Could It Mean?
"It's a global partnership with madonna that encompasses a new agreement for her entire recorded music. Catalog the deal. That has madonna returning to her. Previous longtime label. Home includes her sire. Maverick warner catalog. Plus three most recent studio albums. I'm a rebel hearts and madame x. Were which were all released by interscope records but they will now join the warner catalog in twenty twenty five. Madonna exited interscope last year. And warner says its new agreement. Was madonna covers seventeen studio albums as well as singles. Soundtrack recordings live albums and compilations. Okay so keep. Let's talk this out for the uninitiated. Like what does this mean. What does this mean to you as a madonna fan will want. I want to say that. I don't think it's ever confirmed that. She exited interscope I believe madam x was her final album in a three album. Deal with interscope. Okay okay so i mean is it likely that she would go back to interscope. Probably not twenty twenty. Maybe a like. That's probably not the right way to say it. Then since macken came out the year prior right. Yeah but we don't i mean. Did we report that. That's what's an article on that. I'm going to go with it. You go with whoever reported that so the weights are read. This when i when i saw the press release It was carefully written to be specifically focused on her catalog meaning all previously released music. All basically all of her music except for those three albums and maybe like a live album or two from those tours were all with warner already and they continue to own oliver master recordings and oliver music so when she laughed and went to interscope A number of years ago. She didn't take anything with her. Like you know so. i'm. I'm thinking that this is kind of Partially maybe ignited by the fact that she is currently working on a bio-pic a big screen bio-pic about her life and she has already said in numerous instagram video hosts and posts. How it would cover many many highlights of her professional career that will involve music so certainly there would have to be permissions given by her old warner music group home to license out all that music to be used in

"Thank you so much for taking some time out of your busy day to join us today. You could be with you. I know that you represent California's 13th district. I do want to mention that I know there's a lot going on for just a minute. Can we talk a bit about the inauguration? The importance of Joe Biden assuming the presidency and also Kamila Harris becoming madam vice president. What are your thoughts right off the top of your head about this new administration? Madam Vice President born in Oakland, California races firstly, which just happens to be my congressional district. I'm sure you had a lot to do with the East. Over east race is in the House and the White House. I just want you to know where they were there. And so I'm just so excited and delighted and relieved. Like I think the rest of the country is so many people have told me. But they feel like a load has been lifted from their shoulders. But they're sleeping better. I mean, people let me tell you, there has been a deep sense of grief, anxiety and fear. And we've been in mourning. So many people we know have passed away due to the virus, and it's just been a very hard five years really s so people you know the next day feel like this is the dawning of a new day on. I think that what the Biden Harris administration coming up with in terms of their agenda? We in Congress will work with them on and specifically the cove. It package that American rescue package that we've got a path people are dying. This proportionately African American, black and brown people, lad. Next a PIA individuals, people have lost their jobs. Small businesses They're going out of business are our nurses and health care workers don't have what they need for P C E. So we've got to do this. This is a state of emergency, and they have moved forward in the proper context in an emergency kind of putting. You know, it's amazing because they really did jump right into it and are doing the hard work for the people right now. Even as we speak, they're working. There were King hard. They have ideas. They have the experience people behind them. I really believe even though I was this Bernie Sanders supporter, I gotta tell you, I think that Joe Biden and Kamila Harris, they're the right people for where we are today. But you know this fear that you're talking about some of that extends to protect potentially you and your colleagues because they're concerned that others of your colleagues may have been in cahoots with the Marga terrorists who mounted that insurrection at the Capitol. So what are your thoughts about that? What should happen to these people who may be traitors, traitors to the house traitors to their country. One of they should be held accountable. First of all I served with many of them are unlike Appropriations Committee, Dr Harris, for example, who had to be stopped yesterday because he was carrying a gun. And so it's really very serious. And in our colleagues of, you know, unfortunately, um and and we're looking at this now conducted several investigations could have been in cahoots with and helping With freshness who were trying to form a Mormon and attempted coop and the investigations will smoke them out, and they need to be held accountable and we need to make sure that we don't just give them a slap on the hand and keep going forward and say we've got a hell if he if the investigation indicates that it's pretty egregious. President Joe Biden took his oath of office today and gave an address that appealed to the best instincts of Americans. He made a plea that echoed other presidents at times of crisis through struggle. Sacrificing setbacks, Our better angels have always prevailed. The nature of these moments, Enough of us, enough of us have come together to carry all of us forward. We could do that now. History, Faith and reason show the way the way of unity. We can see each other, not as adversaries, but his neighbors. We can treat each other with dignity and respect. Again. Join forces Stop the shouting and lower the temperature. For without unity. There is no peace on Lee bitterness and fury. No progress on Lee exhausting outrage, no nation. Only a state of chaos. Let's go now to the U. S capitol. Where Claudia Chrysalis NPR congressional reporter has been standing by. Claudia. Welcome to you. Thank you for being here. Thank you for having me. So we're waiting for this pass in review, where President Obama reviews the troops outside the capital. They've just had a short ceremony in the rotunda, where they received where he and vice president comma Harris received a gift. Some grave crystal items, which they seemed very moved by as well as Flags. We're seeing the outgoing Senate majority leader, another Republican leader, Mitch McConnell, making remarks so you've been running around the Capitol today, and I understand that you've spoken with several lawmakers, Republicans and Democrats about the ceremony and a Biden's remarks. I just love to hear what you've heard. Yeah. So I'm hearing that same theme of unity that you folks have been discussing earlier from Republicans and Democrats alike talk to Susan Collins of Maine. This is a member of a moderate member of the GOP in the Senate. And she said that he struck the right tone today and said it was a signal in terms of working together. Republicans and Democrats being able to work together during the Biden administration and share what they see is common goals. And she's working biting in the past. She emphasized that Alaska's Lisa Murkowski, this is another moderate member of the Senate for the Republican Party. She also said the same that she believed that she saw unity to opportunities for unity today. So echoing a lot of what we've heard from Democrats today, like representative Brian Talking about How the tone of unity came across today. Could you excuse me for interrupting, But we're going to go to the capital now. Well, they have Mitch McConnell has just spoken and now the speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi is speaking. Who? The president of the United States the flag that was flown when you were sworn in Mr President, this flag Is that right? Reflect all that is said about your inauguration. America United May yet be a symbol of the hope, the healing and the just all of the enthusiasm that you have for our country and as we heard the beautiful national anthem When we're at the stadium, and they say As our flag still is our flag still there then you say, play ball. Right there, Play ball, So we're going to read it. Get ready to play ball. We're ready to go with the inspiration of our flags line but again on behalf of the House of Representatives. It is my privilege to extend to you the flag that was blown the moment. Early moment that you are sworn in as president of the United States. Thank you, Mr President. Thank you, Doctor. Dr Biden. "Thank you, Mr President Elect and Madam Vice President elect. I want to follow up with respect to what you just said about the inauguration and that it's a good thing that the president is not coming. But what about the vice president Mike Pence is welcome. I think it's important that Um, the as much as we can stick to what have been Historical precedents of how in the circus center, which administration changes should be maintained? And so if Mike if the vice president Is welcome to come be honored to have him there and to move forward in the transition. Have you spoken to him at all? No, I have And you have called for unity and healing in this country, But after the events of one state does that, make your job easier or harder? I think it makes my job easier. Quite frankly. I've had a number of my Republican colleagues. Former colleagues I used to serve in the Senate for a long time. Told me they are many of them are as outraged and disappointed and embarrassed, mortified. The president's conduct as I am, and Democrats are And I think it is. I have said from the beginning and I had not changed my view. My over arching objective. Is the unify this country. We must unify the country. And I think that you've heard me say this before, and I apologize, repeating myself, But understandably, the questions are repetitive and good. I mean, they're not being critical question. That is that there's two ways people are inspired. My inspirational leaders and by terrible leaders. Terrible leaders. What this president's done is rip the band aid all the way off. Let the country know who he is. What he's about. How thoroughly unfit for office years. And you see already Number Republicans. I was so proud. No, we're on opposite sides. I'll criticize from some of the people in my party for saying this, but I've worked very hard with and against. The former the president, the former soon to be former majority leader Mitch McConnell. I thought what he said in before the United States Senate. Was, in fact the right thing to do. He stood up. He's ashamed. I spoke with the guy. I have enormous respect for Enormous respect for and I ran against him. Mitt Romney. I spoke to MIT this morning again. This is a man of enormous integrity, enormous integrity. Who lives his faith. There are so many more, but there's others. Who should be ashamed of themselves. But they make up a minority of the Republican Party. This isn't about Republican Democrat anymore. This is about People who understand what this country's about. And the things we have to agree on a move together. I just think that If you look at it Speaking to some of my Republican colleagues, and I've spoken to a number of them over the last Last month since I've been Since we've been elected. Through recently as the day which this got off of the Baka was taking place up on the hill. And I think they understand that they're gonna have to we needed We probably could party. We need an opposition. That's principle and strong. I think you're going to see them going through this idea of what constitutes Republican Party. And they hear some of my college Republican colleagues talk about how shameful it is. The way Ted Cruz and others are dealing with this how they're responsible as well. For what happened. Do you think some of them should resign to Senator Cruz or Senator Holly resign? I think they should be just flat, beating the next time they run. Make the American public hazard. Creo good, clear look of who they are. Part of the big lie. Big lie was being reminded by a friend of mine. Maybe you were with me. I can't recall when We told that you know Goebbels and the great lie you keep repeating the line, repeating the line. Well, there was a priest that when Dresden was bombed Firebomb. There were 250 people. That were killed was a 2500 people were killed. And Goebbels said No 25,000 are 250,000 were killed. And our papers printed that Papers printed it. It's the big lie. People will notice one thing for one man. One woman. Repeat, fly over and over and over again. By the way. Trump said that before he ran, if you say it enough I'm going to convince you I'll say it enough. The press is bad. The press is bad. The press is bad the presses back if he's the only one saying it, That's one thing. The acolytes should follow him. Cruise and others. They are as responsible as he is. So it's not about whether or not they get it pieced. It's about whether or not they help can continue to hold power because discussed the American people have for their actions. Decent people out there. Actually believe These lives. Because I've heard it again and again. I was with a friend of mine. Who's a medical doctor? Telling me that his neighbor said to him, he lived in another state. His neighbor's a good person said, But you know, Doc, this is true. There's a lot of there's a lot of lot of chicanery that went on in this election. Should tell me what? Well, I just know there was they say it is. They say it is This is a human condition. You say it and say it and say it and say it. Degree to which it becomes corrosive is in direct proportion of the number of people who say it. And so it's interesting to me and I was pleased to hear some of the more prominent Republicans say to me that Ted Cruz is of the world are as responsible In terms of people believing the lies. Has not as responsible, similar responsible like Trump. They didn't say go to the capital. I'll be with you follow that's a different story. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you all very, very much. You've been listening to president elect job buying their in Delaware. Some harsh words for Senator Cruz and Senator Hawley, saying they should be beaten next time that they run but really kind of laying. So much of the problems that led to what happened on Wednesday at the feet of several Republicans in terms of their continuing continuing to support President Trump in his charges, allegations that there was fraud in the election. There is something to him that when you say something over and over and over again, you know, groups of people begin to believe it, And we certainly have seen that when you polled Americans are a lot of folks who did believe that there was fraud in the election. Yeah, and we're seeing despite any real evidence. Yeah, we're seeing that we saw that play out because the president repeated it over and over again, despite the fact that there was no evidence the President elect making a lot of news in his Q and a with reporters just now, saying that the stimulus package price price tag will be quote high trillions of dollars and he's gonna lay out stimulus package details next Thursday. Yeah, trillions of dollars. He also said that breakdown of in the Capitol security must be investigated on that police taking Selfies with protesters must be probed. Yeah, and let's not you and I were talking that we believe that this is the first time he has addressed the press community after what happened in Wednesday, cause Wednesday, he did make a statement. "Well, Mr President elect Madam Vice President Elect Thank you so much for entrusting me with this opportunity to serve the American people. I am humbled by your confidence, eager to do everything in my power to ensure that this administration succeeds my hometown South Bend, Indiana, was built by the power of America. Transportation from trade along the river. Who's been gives our city its name to the rail lines that connected us to the rest of the country Back when we were considered the West, the lively hoods created by the good paying union jobs that places like the aeronautical supplier, Bendix and the giant auto Assembly, Studebaker and now climate and infrastructure innovation or helping bring my community into the 21st century. Also had a personal love of transportation ever since childhood more than once as a college student. I would convince a friend to travel nearly 1000 miles back to Indiana with me on Amtrak, though I know that in this administration, I will best aspire to be the second biggest train enthusiast around I spent a spring break and graduate school aboard a cargo ship. Studying their travel in my mind is synonymous with growth with adventure even loved so much so the I proposed to my husband chest and in an airport terminal. Don't let anybody tell you that O'Hare isn't romantic, and I want to take this chance to thank Justin for everything that he gives and everything that he sacrifices to support me in public service. First time I ran for office was on a platform of supporting the Obama Biden administration's rescue of the auto industry. And when I did first take office as mayor in a city Fighting its way out of the teeth of the great recession. Infrastructure was at the heart of our vision. We re imagine how vehicles and people move through the city. Unlocking new economic vibrancy In our urban core. We built up partnerships from a regional collaboration to improve rail service to the public private partnership that put our city at the cutting edge of bicycle mobility. We develop new forms of support for lower wage workers and their commutes and added electric vehicle charging infrastructure. To help prepare for a more sustainable future. They also dealt with the challenges created by generations of often inadequate state and federal infrastructure. Funding. With just enough resource is toe replenish the paving of every lane mile of street and our city on Lee, every 100 years or so I faced the constant battle with that natural enemy of all mayors. The pothole In a community where more than a quarter of our residents lived in poverty. We work to fill in the gaps that were created when underfunded transit resource is left too many cut off from opportunity. Just because they didn't have the means towing a car at its best transportation makes the American dream possible, getting people and goods to where they need to be. Directly and indirectly creating good paying jobs at its worst misguided policies and missed opportunities can reinforce racial, economic and environmental injustice, dividing or isolating neighborhoods, undermining governments basic role to empower everyone to thrive and now comes a historic opportunity. This administration can deliver policies and resource is that will create jobs rise to the climate challenge and equitably serve all Americans, all while continuing to ensure the safety of travelers and workers like America has given this administration a mandate to build back better and step one in building back better literally is to build Americans shouldn't settle for less. In our peers in the developed world when it comes to our roads and bridges are railways and transit systems. The U. S should lead the way and I know that in this administration, we will we'll bring together leaders and communities from every corner labor and business left right and center, urban and rural communities of color Tribal nations Mayor's County's state's everyone who has a stick in American infrastructure to design a better future. Americans expect us to see to it that the idea of an infrastructure week is associated with results and never again a media punch line. My view, this opportunities also shaped by being the youngest members so far named to this Cabinet and the first millennial invited to a seat at that table. Newer generations have a lot at stake in infrastructure policy that, by its nature must contemplate both the immediate and the long term the question of how America will look by the middle of this century, the competitiveness of our economy, the security of our climate. For me, this is an academic its person. I'm also mindful that the eyes of history are on this appointment. Knowing that this is the first time in American president has ever sent and openly LGBT Q Cabinet member to the Senate for confident for confirmation. I can remember watching the news 17 years old in Indiana, seeing a story about an appointee of President Clinton, named to be an ambassador attacked and denied a vote in the Senate. Because he was gay, ultimately able to serve on Lee by recess appointment at the time, I had no aspirations of being appointed by a president for anything at that age. I was hoping to be an airline pilot, and I was a long way from coming out even to myself. But still, I watch that story. I learned something. About some of the limits that exists in this country when it comes to who was allowed to belong, But just as important, I saw how those limits could be challenged. So two decades later, I can't help but think of a 17 year old somewhere who might be watching us right now, somebody who wonders whether and where they belong in the world or even in their own family. And I'm thinking about the message that today's announcement is sending to them. So thank you, Mr President. Elect Thank you for honoring your commitment to diversity with this administration that you're assembling, and thank you, madam Vice President Elect for your trailblazing leadership, your encouragement. And your friendship. There is no greater source of meaning and professional life than the chance to serve others. I felt that meaning every time I laced up my boots.

Earlier today, President elect Joe Biden introduced his nominee for transportation secretary, its former South Bend, Indiana mayor and 2020 presidential candidate. Pete Buddha judge Here's President elect Biden earlier today in Wilmington. Today. I'm proud to nominate its newest member for secretary of transportation. I nominate Mer people digits. I got to know Pete on the campaign trail. He's one of the smartest people ever meet in one of the most humble The man from the Heartland manager next for the policy want with a big heart? A veteran will tell you, the United States Navy Reserve and Intelligence offered deployed to Afghanistan while he was mayor. A new voice, but new ideas determine to move past old politics. The son of professors husband His husband is an educator. Always always mark of good character is way I look at, by the way, Gillian. I've always enjoy seeing Pete Kristen Cheston. I should say together on the trail, Chastain's become close friend of Jill's and mine and what I admire about Pete. He's always clear about who he is what he believes and how he wants to bring people in, not exclude them. He's able to walk in any room. Meet people inspired with his ability to describe in America. That's best for us all of us in America. It's hopeful, more creative, inclusive American that can do literally anything. And if confirmed, Mr Buddha Judge would be the first openly gay Cabinet secretary. He would also be the youngest person at the age of 38 nominated to Mr Biden's Cabinet Here's Mayor Buddha judge earlier today. Americans expect us to see to it that the idea of an infrastructure week is associated with results and never again a media punch line. My view this opportunities also shaped by being the youngest members so far named to this Cabinet, and the first millennial invited to a seat at that table, you were generations have a lot at stake in infrastructure policy that, by its nature must contemplate both the immediate and the long term. The question of how America will look by the middle of this century, the competitiveness of our economy, the security of our climate. For me, This is an academic. It's person. I'm also mindful that the eyes of history are on this appointment. Knowing that this is the first time in American president has ever sent an openly LGBT Q Cabinet member to the Senate for confident for confirmation. I can remember watching the news 17 years old in Indiana. Seeing a story about an appointee of President Clinton, named to the N ambassador attacked and denied a vote in the Senate because he was gay, ultimately able to serve only by recess appointment at the time, I had no aspirations of being appointed by a president to anything at that age. I was hoping to be an airline pilot, and I was a long way from coming out even to myself, But still, I watch that story. I learned something about some of the limits that exists in this country when it comes to who was allowed to belong, But just as important, I saw how those limits could be challenged. So two decades later, I can't help but think of a 17 year old somewhere who might be watching us right now. Somebody who wonders whether and where they belong in the world or even in their own family. And I'm thinking about the message that today's announcement is sending to them. So thank you, Mr President, Elect Thank you for honoring your commitment to diversity with this administration that you're assembling, and thank you, madam Vice President elect for your trailblazing leadership, your encouragement and your friendship. So, Jessica, we're men of roll call. What did we learn about Pete Buddha judge in his potential approach to transportation systems during the 2020 presidential campaign. So what we learned about him during the 2020 presidential campaign was that he actually is bringing some of his municipal experience itself, then mayor to kind of the to make sort of an ambitious approach towards Dut policy. He had a pretty aggressive plan. And I would argue, actually, probably a little bit more in depth than some of the other Democratic contenders. For example, he gets into during his presidential campaign, he gets into the issue of how do you pay for highways? For years we've been paying for with the gas tax. But the problem is the gas taxes people whose cars have become increasingly fuel efficient, so it doesn't really have the buying power that used to, uh, he proposed during his A V M T, which is a vehicle miles traveled approach, which is completely You know, revolutionary to how we traditionally funded the federal highway system. So would that require people to report their annual mileage? It wouldn't actually being done in some states. There's pilot programs to think in Oregon. I think Colorado as well. Western states have some pilot programs on that It would require that and there are Concerns from the privacy angles, so there's things that have to be you know, Iran through before this would actually become something that would be would be adopted in. The question also is whether or not you he is serving at the pleasure of the president for the question is whether or not President elect Biden would be interested in this ideas well, but basically eat. Republicans and Democrats seemed to agree that there is going to be in need at some point to rethink how we refine it. How we find yes, highways. Vnt is really the only viable alternative anyone's been able to come up with. When you talk about serving user based feet, So I mean it was. It was sort of any ambitious approach during the campaign and one that's been kind of endorsed. Question is, you know how close are we ready to be being able to To deploy this on a full time basis, and that that is kind of a big question going forward. Is there talk about raising the 18.4 cents a gallon federal gas tax? Oh, there's talk. There's just that willingness to do it, uh, you ever once in the U. S Chamber of commerce to you know, any of the highway groups have called for a modest increase. I mean this Gas attacks has not been increasing. Bill Clinton was president back in 1993, but there's such a resistance to raising the federal gas tax. Several states have already done it. Actually, the majority of states have raised against their gas tax in recent years, but there's a real resistance to raising any sort of federals federal tax. So They really kind of run into an obstacle every time they moved to do something like that. No, That's why the DNT looks like a viable alternative. And now with Joe Biden's build back better theme infrastructure was a large part of that, and transportation is a large part of the infrastructure. It is. You know what's interesting is I'm watching him put this cabinet together is sort of This approach to climate change that is really kind of spread it throughout the entire Cabinet. What President Elect Biden has been interested in doing is is addressing climate change it really every every area that he can. That's why he's got both domestic and international climate czar in his guest cabinet with Buddha Judge the question is How do you sort of move forward with infrastructure that can be resilient to climate events. And how do you find a way to encourage lower emissions vehicles? I know that Those both Mayor, Buddha judge fans. The president elect has talked about you installing electricity, no infrastructure that would make it easier for electric vehicles to travel, you know, charging stations as an important part of it. And you have to remember that transportation is the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions at this point, so that's gonna be something he's gonna look at. As I'm sure as he starts his administration, looking at.

Knowing they didn't have cars. My father found a home near a bus line. He started his family practice in the basement while we lived on the floors above. The end of the day. He would talk to me, my brother and my mom. About what work meant to his patients, our friends and neighbors, especially if they lost a job. The financial problems, the family problems, the health problems, the loss of dignity and self worth. The value of work always stuck with me. So much so that I became an economist. Because I was concerned about the tool of unemployment on people, families and communities. And I've spent my career trying to make sure people can work. Achieved the dignity and self worth that comes with it. Mr President elect No. You've done the same. I saw that understanding during the last great recession. And the recovery act that followed. Now we're facing historic crisis again. The pandemic and economic full length sit together, of course, so much damage for so many and have had a disproportionate impact on the most vulnerable among us. Lost law was lost jobs, small businesses struggling to stay alive for closed for good So many people struggling to put food on the table and pay bills and rent. It's an American tragedy. And it's essential that we move with urgency in action will produce a cell free enforcing downturn, causing yet more devastation. And we missed. We risk missing the obligation to address deeper structural problems. Inequality, stagnant wages, especially for workers, who like the college education. Communities that have seen industry disappear with no good jobs, replacing lost ones. Racial disparities and pay drop opportunities, housing, food security and small business lending that deny wealth building two communities of color. Gender disparities to keep women out of the workforce and keep error economy from running at full force. It's a convergence of tragedies. Just not only economically unsustainable. But one that trees, our commitment to giving every.
