As Another Year Ends, Remember - You Still Have Time

"There's often a lot of anxiety at this time of the year is people sit back and reflect and realize they haven't achieved all they wanted to achieve or maybe they haven't arrived at the place where they thought they would be by now but the reality is i think they've lost sight of the fact that for most of them they still a lot of time left. I mean this year. I've spoken to people in the fifties who've lost jobs. They're worried they're not going to get another job like that again. They're worried that at fifty they might need to find another career. But that's okay. There's plenty of time for act two or even three. It's not really that big a deal in search of running out of time and similarly talking to kids in their twenties and even thirties who are worried that they haven't yet decided what career path they want to take and they're worried they're running out of time. To get started doesn't matter now again to be clear that does not mean if you're in your twenties you're going to continue riding on mom and dad's dime and not do anything and just wait till you work it out absolutely not you go out and tasted you go out and try stuff you go out and get a job doing anything you know. Working in the garden and cleaning dishes cleaning toilets. Whatever joe packing boxes whatever job you can get you get a job and you keep trying enticing and eventually you'll find your groove similarly for the guys and girls and they fifties that doesn't mean you just sit back and white until something comes your way now. Maybe you've got gotta go out and driving uber for a while. Not just to keep money on the table and keep food on the table and money in your pocket but just to keep you active and keep you going and keep you engaged and interested in. What's what's going on around you but either way whether you're in your early twenties and having worked out a career with your in your fifty plus and have lost a career need to think about rebooting point is either way chances. Are you've got a heap of time left. So don't let that time running out become a major stress for you go out. Try it to moving the needle forward. Keep moving the ball forward and endowed stress about the fact that you may be running out of time because chances are you're actually doing k. And on that happy note do have a happy new. You have a safe new year problem. A lot of fireworks going on this year problem that a lot of big parties going on this year. But hey if we're still here. We go through another year so happy new year and other forward to seeing you again tomorrow which is two thousand and twenty one. O mental note. Mad max movie that was set in two thousand and twenty one. Just throw that in

Another Mad Max Movie Is Coming, Without Mad Max

"There've been five mad max movies over the past forty one years and they shared one thing in common that MACs. But for the first time, a film set in the universe without the title character is on the way fury. Osa, we'll tell the original story of Shelly Sharon's character by the name featured in two thousand, Fifteen Oscar with Mad Max fury road. Derosa we'll be played by Anna Taylor Joy. In this new store who is best known for night shamans glass and her breakout in the horror film, the witch Chris Hemsworth has joined the cast not sure if Israel yet fans me happy to know Furioso was co written and be directed by the mastermind behind all the mad Max Movies George Miller. So expected to beat very faithful to the source material and too most likely go into production at some point next

And I'm excited for this book and I love that. She wants to the episodes great. We used to do that. And people didn't like that. Yeah right right and I was about to again. They would say. Oh we did great. I was listening. We're going to go over some Context for our for our question Our topic today and then dig and do some Action oriented questions that get to the core of why we should all care about it and you and what we can all do to support you sound. Good it's great awesome beano. We'd like to start with one important question to set the tone for things and I know you said you listen to some episodes of one. My apologies For All that time you can never get back to. You cheated a little bit but if you could just tell us why you are vital to the survival of the species am I know I. I think I'm I'm vital. Because everyone's vital to the survival species. I think to be alive today. We're facing critical tipping points. The Melting Arctic the rising seas We're all right. If you think about us in the fabric of time if you think about the generations of people alive today we have such extraordinary power to shape the future we have such extraordinary power To do things at scale the scale of the planet and we know about what we're doing we know the half-life of our radioactive as we know How long are pollution is going to linger in the atmosphere and heat up the planet. And so I think is one among many It's it's sort of like we all have to act. It's going to take action other levels to do something about it. That said I just had a friend. Tell me she said you need to be the nightingale. Like what a did like. She was smoking something and she wasn't sure sober and what she said. Was you need to sing the song that people feel in their hearts that haven't yet brought into sound into words? Sure wasn't smoking. I'm sure but you know this idea. And she said that's how the revolution starts about was how she ended it like L. Singing to another nine going on. It's like no pressure. Just have to the song that's in people's hearts but I can think of like the ideal case of of the book I just wrote. I mean yeah I hope I am like bring two words and bringing into action by the deepest highest aspirations that we have to actually care for the feature actually be good ancestors for future generations be remembered as the people who who actually saved the planet instead of instead of cursing. "You? To point to swallow the other barriers is more of just completely disintegrated. It's just sort of shape of fabric. Shame creative process. Yes it would be like the really really short shorts sure. Yeah and then just the middle part of the pants just kind of hanging down like a tail right. It would be sort of a string. Gene keeney would fit into the vibe of this movie. Sure Hossam Wise Schertel Thunderdome. Yeah but the payer died so the other two could live. Yeah but it worked for guys. It really weren't no. I'm very crowned distress. The genes naturally three genes. Enter the grounds. Do you leave. I would love nothing more than if in Mad Max Fury Osa. The I would assume inevitable V show him in the show. Did that trilogy. And this Quintanilla G that George Miller had a scene where the people in the wasteland dig into the dunes and bring up a pair of distress jeans that had been buried there since before the nuclear apocalypse. And look better than ever. Yeah what about if? It's like a worm tribe someone in the opening credits. This film is credited as visual consultant. And I think sure and God if the Fifth Mad Max Movie. How do we get Ben in that job? I want it so bad like salt. I think this is my wheelhouse. Well it's it's like Namibia with Fury Road. He has to hope that it doesn't rain in Jersey for the next three years. Yeah you actually speaking of deal good. Are you screw lures? Yeah but I'm just thinking names from Thunderdome. Yeah I was just going to say. It's kind of weird that this movie filmed in my friends hanging out. I had no recollection. Your friends has also to yours your friends as adults and then it's sort of it. Flip the order. We know within Hasley essentially people think of this film as being a Third Mad Max film right. It's the Second Mad Max sequel when in reality the way it should be viewed as George Miller's Gus Van Sant Psycho esque take doing a shot for shot remake of Ben Hustle. Home Videos shot for shot. He's Shoppers Yup. Yup that was that was me at summer. Camp warm with summer wasn't a crash. Seven forty seven anthony. Jersey governor just has a bazooka shoots down airplanes. Like here's a summer camp over there you can find it. What is the cat's what if they're just waiting for? Sully? Oh Man. That's good point right. Because they're they`re. God is a captain in in thunder quickly would be the greatest of All. God before we can move on with how many souls were on board one hundred fifty five he did eyeball it. I do feel just let me evidence that one hundred fifty souls did not come out of that plane that day that some some souls were lost. Souls were lost. I was saying. Obviously that's the start. Call me crazy. But it's a conditional I'm saying you has invitational. Call me crazy if you disagree with what I'm about to say. Okay go ahead. You're about to get hoisted by your own petard. Because you were so quick to call me crazy and you're going to agree so hard David. Yes crazy but I'm not crazy about crowds. These days. I know a little bit of anxiety from the crowd. You're right I've been instead. Oh so you're saying you're not crazy crazy. I'm crazy like a Fox. Sure you're crazy like a fox in that you want to avoid a crowd like Fox's Fox's hate crowds especially the twentieth century ones in fact I'm Gonna I'm GonNa even reset this David Colmey brilliant okay. Brilliant but I'm not crazy about crafts these days. But what if you need to go to the post office? This is to send out letters and packages and I have encountered this since the dawn of the corona virus and I have encountered this with family members who need to send some male and don't want to go to the post office right now. 'cause it's an enclosed space suits that sense this time of year even though we all got little extensions people working on their taxes. "If you'll excuse me I gotta go back to prison. This franchise is second only to star wars and on certain days. I would consider what you just said that to you. It's just the number two what I'm about to say okay. I think it's phenomenal franchise. I think it's second only to star wars and maybe surpasses it in terms of how cool every fucking character like. How like you can pluck some tiny background. Their school and the names are great. And you just go. Who is this person she? Because it's like yeah. It's some fucking mechanic who lived. I don't know in the town over there. We put a hockey mask on right now but that feeling good time you asked they would have an answer for everything but they have the confidence to not tell you can tell. They have the confidence of a back story. Yeah in every performance and design in every character name I. I think we haven't seen that. You don't see that again In cinema until and this is a soft version of what you're saying. I think John Wick had doug revealing when you watch it. You're like I feel like there's a series of books about Lance Rex character. And like 'cause I was you. Star Wars Tales from the canteen or the bounty hunters like those books that fleshed out the five characters. You see once in the movie like I feel like you can have that about. This is how the origin story of these freaks end up. Here in the post apocalyptic Australia in a Mad Max John has the added level of also the the bureaucracy the way they will build the bureaucracy in the third one when a advocate Dylan first enters and throws down a bigger coins ask. I probably laughed for three minutes straight. I lost my shit and then they mentioned that well. We'll have to bring this to the higher table or whatever you're like. There's another fucking best thing. In International Europeans. We have to think about almost like Inigo rewatch. All three of those. There's best but anytime any franchise outside of fuelling basically Mad Max John Wick and star. Wars tries to do that. If feels to force other franchises. They're the ones I think about where I feel like. They consistently work and in other franchises. It sometimes feels to me like peacocking. Were there like mystery at the bar wearing something stupid so you ask them a question. I get that but like feels like to pointed to write a comic book about this. The consistency through which throughout the films throughout the universe every element feels thou. I would love to try to think. Of what other franchises come close with the mystery able to sell the mystery but make seem enticing and like it's not just ran like a. I think the Mad Max Trilogy Star Worcester and the John Wick. Troje would have people like modern people asking this based on anything totally because it's just so rich in certain specific that you'd be like Oh. There has to be a graphic novel that John Run like there has to be something star wars. You're telling me someone just sat down and made all this The way that people like you know a big fans of the Harry Potter Books Lord of the Rings. Books are the a song of ice and fire. Books will be like. Oh that character. Who is in the background for? Two lines is actually like a big part of this other thing that. I mean which is right. I mean we gave thrones a show up at the books are have that quality which I adore. He's like anyway. Let me talk to you for five minutes about this person's Mad Max is bad. There's something to the fact that matters like that favorite new show. They're watching the witcher. Gabriel's chorus is so first of all the witcher is high. Fantasy featuring Mike Gaffer Day One Henry K Ville. There's there was a recent I have. I have like one episode to. There's a recent foreground shot of just his arm where it it looks like. I don't know the Snake Dragon. Snake I don't know it's so big and I the movie I mean that means the show is like right over the plate for me so excited for it and I just didn't love it. Wow that's insane. I know kind of bombed and I was. We'll talk with. What fuck is the timeline of that? Show it's Don Kirk. Wants two weeks like ten years one. Eight years fucking insane ruled. Can I ask? I know you guys are watching the witcher. Any of you Which in the water. Which the watcher who. Which is the watchman. I bought a full screen. Dvd of the KIANA reeves thriller. The watcher and I've been casting witch wiccan spells on the poster of the of course. Hold me he's like yeah. Oh Yeah There is a thing though. We're like George. Miller has also retained such control over mad. Max Drivers so little one of those rare like mine. Yeah and they're so little appendix media and there and there's no need to like delete some cannon right you know what I mean where Deng ignore the Lord humongous where series that came out five years ago or whatever they did a couple comics and fury road was coming out that I think we're pretty poorly received but they if I'm not mistaken we're like four one shots that gave you a little bit of runway into the movie. Not like all the backstory. But here's what happened in the thirty minutes before and that's like from what I know the only real additional stuff he's done but like the video game isn't like a cannon right today never like stumbled into that terminator problem. Yeah where there have been so many failed sequels now anytime they do a sequel. They have to specify which sequels they are ignoring. Were there like this one is one. Two threes is implied. Like this one's just wanted.

"It out. All right mission accomplished now. I know why you've got him this bouquet of flowers coming out as a drag and I'll take it just felt like I. I'm not trying to force you out of the the dry closets and all cactus. By the way we should mention a cactus hyenas poker but I do appreciate what a nightmare you must have been on the train carrying this Ben hogging it like a prom queen and his whole left side is bleeding. No but but it felt like if we're GONNA be talking about the Mad Max Movies for the next couple of months. What better time to sort of embrace the drag I twenty twenty Persona Yup Dry Guy Twenty twenty sheer to say like shy guy another Mary Ocare. Yam Dry guy or dry. Shaghai have they I. I'm telling you I mean I was drunk but we went onto the intendo wicky and there were like twenty different driver idols. There's like a dry d like toad and dry everything. Yeah Yeah what about them makes them dry? They're just skeleton versions of the regular villain. So it's like Oh. This is like a skeleton paratrooper. This is a skeleton or sculpting. This is a this is a tribe known. Oh Dude then there's right rather than calling him. Like bone bowser skeleton bows. His name is dry. Bowser which fucking rules that is cool. It's cool. I don't know why it's cooler. You do not have to say that this is cool. No no I don't think it's cool. It's cool to have learned that you're proud of that's cool. Thanks for sharing your her our guest today. Of course he's he's call gu-guy cooler than dry bowser dry but unfortunately this is quite a bit of moisture this this This studios kind of like a coffin. It's like some ancient Egyptian Mummification Room where we just Have all of moisture of Lee sought out of our body over the course of recording long episodes. And we're sitting here with the man who currently holds the record for longest main feed episodes. Still if I'm not mistaken I believe you're right. Silence of the lambs came close rate episode. Emily Vanderbilt put up a fight. But I believe you still have her beat by a minute or two. Is that right? I think so I I think it might be. I have an unfair advantage of that movie. Heat is the longest movie point and this is a short movie. Put similarly dense in terms of things we could talk about. John gave us back on the show from the high and mighty podcast. Thank you for having me. Fam. I'm so excited to be here. I rarely reach out to someone to ask them to do their thing. Nobody was like perfect. We were recording an episode. We Are Getting Ready. We had just finished getting ready to start George Miller and it's crazy George Miller hits the ground running with two mad. Max and we hadn't found someone for this one. Yes it was you fell into it was and it was like. This is such an important canonical action. Movie that I was like we need to have a guest who's like representing the action movies. Fear Oh ton of tropes are created in this a ton of action movie tropes are launched on the basis of those movies that is like formative for the next forty years of genre cinema arguably kick like chose the path that cinematic dystopia would chew like created. I becomes the almost forty stores are available. No matter what the whether the country the world is flooding high. It's at least. The used. Sporting goods store is always open. Like people talk about the First Mad Max. Being one of the most influential movies right of the last forty or fifty years. I suppose but it's one of those things where it's like. Oh the elements within that are invisible. But it's like it's it's so weird because it's Mad Max. If there were never any sequels would sort of have like a velvet underground reputation as like. Oh it inspired these people to like do the things that ran from Mad Max. One is like a hyper V. Which is just such an unusual idea but then mad max inspires other people to take the elements of what he's done and then also inspires George Miller to be like I think I can perfect this much like evil dead and evil to very similar things where it's like. The first ones both made on a shoestring surprise hits. Yeah and the second one hit the director being like no. Give me like ten times. The budget and I can give you something even cooler right and it's kind of a sequel much different same basic plots. Choose exactly bigger canvas. It's sort of like focus in a way like strip it down its elements and then take it to the extreme but also both will weirdly acknowledged the first movie in a brief prologue. And then be. We are a sequel. But it's also kind of a remake and enjoy a lot of both and I'm so glad you said the evil dead two things like opened up to seeing it's like roadway and evil dead to where like both at their first movie and be like we now know what people dug about those guys like evil dead if people didn't find the irony or the fun in the first one. Yeah it won't be a part of the second one. Yes so the audience. Kinda helps so then the directors are like fuck. Now if I know you like that kind of tone Wait till you see my second Raimi's to see another one and then George Miller is like. Oh you guys like the violent part the car chase parts. You'RE GONNA love this one you're also dealing with like I films with largely first time crew and cast. Yeah who going into the second movie or like we've figured it out. We've all done this job one time and we've done it with each other and now I can hit the ground running. Here's the other thing. They also both have a third sequel. That's kind of like really the grand right and fans dig but is definitely a harder. Wanting to own you'll way darkness and Thunderdome are also weird leave similar and weirdly and this is so specific to me but though I think it's just because of my age those were the two I was most familiar with. Yeah was evil dead. Two and Thunderdome were the I like on Cable Army of John Army of darkness. Thunderdome was on TNT. I think every weekend that I was grounded any weekend I happen to be grounded. Felt like Thunderdome Osan. Because I I've seen that with commercials one hundred times for. How often were you grounded very grounded? You were still allowed to watch. Tv Yes yes. Well grounded but no one's home because my insurance will have to work. It was a very complicated form of grounding where I'm like okay. I can't go to a friend's house. Technically it was just your immediate education around little. Did I know I would eventually weaponized? Podcast hundreds of dollars. Well that's yeah and then I said high and mighty but also action boys. You have a podcast that is specifically going over your favorite sort of action from what we deem the Classic Action Movie. And we a couple of months ago. Dude Road Warrior you did. I'm so oh yeah so pumped are- watch it. It's so fucking watchable. The other thing I realized watching this is like beyond. I don't think I've ever seen like all the way straight through but I've seen so much of it on TV Fury Road. I've seen too many times already The original Mad Max. I saw like they screened at midnight at IFC Right Wen Fury road was coming out around road warrior. I think I saw in high school in haven't seen since I have. I hadn't seen this in a since I was a teenager. Yeah I've only seen Mad Max once and it was after I've seen everything. Yeah I guess when I was a kid I thought road warrior and Thunderdome were the to Mad Max right right and I thought it was weird that corrode warrior was mad. Max Two I couldn't really figure out what that meant when I finally watched the original mad. Max I'm like wow. This is nothing like I like sharing. We're very fun to watch it last. When you're like I know what this I know what everything's supposed to be. And then you watch a movie like. Oh this is not at all what I thought it was especially funny to watch it after fury road. All right right right might have actually seen after before I started. I've seen either right before right. Fido I don't remember what you said about what I saw. Where seconds ago I saw. I did see one to as a teenager. Just me being a movie nerd and being like wash watch those. Yeah and then years later we were trivia and they'd Played Mad Max. Yeah that was the first time I'd seen any. I forgot. This is like a cop drama. Basically I remember being shocked. Bray how Lo fi it was but it has like emotional dialogue scenes like Inner Ludwig with his kids. But you know we talked about that but but it's the same sort of thing where like your cultural understanding of who mad Max is. It's like even before you see movies. It's so much a part of pop culture right and coming in right. Fortunately or unfortunately pre informed them. When you're watching Mad Max and you're like there are still diners and stuff is having a bad crime year next to. There's like there's no government right. There's no towns remember like when I saw the first evil.

"Still out there podcasting. How about this is a tagline ruthless savage spectacular fucking roles. Yeah it's pretty good. Every movie posters should just be one word. Lipsey one word ellipses. I wish I could read this German one because it looks very intense. It's Kinda crazy. How every poster for this movie roles? Yeah that's true like there's the painted Australian one. That's the Mad Max two one. There's the sort of just like him on the road. That's the American road warrior. One right Max to their full strecker. This Japanese one's pretty cool to fucking role. Well here's here's an idea. Maybe if every single piece of imagery and your movie is fucking awesome. It's almost impossible to make bad poster for it whether you're just composite images or shooting something particularly for the poster painting it everything in this movie looks so Goddamn cool. Hello everybody my name. Who Are you? I don't know who you are. I'm David Sam. This is blank check with Griffin. And David it's a podcast about filmography. "I'm using and that's about this battle to these battles. It's like I'm using this character from these years. Only or this period of time. So I agree with you. I do think Tom. Tom Version is Canon. But I had to respect. Were going with it and it was a good call because Tom Hardy's version at the very opening. He openly states. He's got like a lot of psychological problems. He's hearing voices and he's having a hard time fighting all of that while staying alive so change. Yeah thank you deserve the accolades but what I would say is I mean maybe things will change but I think when you think of Mad Max you think of the Mel Gibson version. Well I love fury road look. I saw it in theaters. It's exciting mad. Max In that movie is only the fourth or fifth most important character. He's really just the vehicle. Pardon the PUN. That's used to tell this other story. That happens around. Mad Max and so. I just didn't think that it was appropriate for this battle. If I'm really trying to tighten up the character doing because those are the rules of the battle I just feel like let's go full Mel Gibson and stick there and I'm glad to hear Justin was picking up what I was putting down because it sounds like it helped i. We could take this to blood type you know. He does have that high octane blood in the Tom. Hardy version and that was something that was never spoken about in the Mel Gibson versions. But you know blood type ashes. We probably for the best. That's good I I gotTa tell you. This was a fun fight and Justin. You're awesome. You're hilarious you brought great insight into these battles and I really like it. You know when when a a judge provides the logic behind their their decision because then especially when the logic so sound where. I have to say you know I can see their point. "I think Ryan's wins his fight. That's my point number three and I mean there's a lot to say right there. I think you said a couple of decent things you know what I would say right now is. Rick doesn't have a lot of success on the TV. Show the walking dead and yes I mean. He has a great family you know. He couldn't stop Laurie from getting killed in jail birth. He also couldn't stop Carl from getting killed when he was off doing something else. Not even paying attention to his own kid is this is a kid. He let die while he was off doing something else spoiler alert and so is this really the kind of like maybe he likes the idea of family because it sure doesn't seem like he keeps the family as a very top priority in his own. Mind but I would say right now. Rick constantly is taking small problems and escalating them into bigger ones. Rick it'd be look at every single place he's ever gone. Let's see let's. He went to the farm. It got overrun. He went through the prison. It got destroyed by a tank and also overrun. Let's see Alexandria didn't do very very well terminal terminus. That's what it's called. People's he terminates spending an entire season getting there and immediately got taken prisoner the second that he got there. These things do not end. Well he tries to escape from one of those situations and ends up running into Neagh in his men and has no answer for any of that either. Rick is what I would say right now. A Lucky Rick is fortunate. Rick is constantly coming up with plans that get other people killed. Who aren't him? Some of those people like Carl his own family that he can't keep track of. I'm saying right now. If you say family is such a big priority for Rick he would have been by Carl side and not letting them run around wherever the heck he wanted to all the time inevitably invariably leading to Carl getting killed the way I see this battle officially going down. These are going to meet I posited at a gas station but it could be anywhere it just made sense to host it. They're they're going to take some shots at each other. They're gonNA take a lot of cover. It's going to be a very difficult batch because neither one's really going to give up a lot against the other and so finally. I think that they're both GONNA take a couple of shots now. I would argue that. Maxim shots are going to hurt a little bit harder. And Rick doesn't deal with that kind of damage the same way Max does. It is durability. And so rick is going to be like Yo. I need to get my friends to come and help me. At which point. He's going to try to back out of the situation and Max is going to double down. Because he can't let him go get his friends in order to come because Max's a survivor. Who knows how to survive and part of surviving is not letting that person's friends come and get you so he's going to get into his car. He's going to chase down Rick Grimes. He's going to take him out. That's others battles going to go. That's my revoke. Let me ask you quick before. Just I know you want to jump into this real quick question. What were mad. Max is hit and wife doing in the Second Movie Road Warrior Mash for here James. They were they were what. I'm sorry. What were they were they were they. Were they playing Baseball Justin? What were your family? What was wonderful family doing where they playing outside where they object I object? Here's let me let me speak that because I think that's an important point to make an important distinction to make in this battle. Max was not quite Mad Max. He was still a hero police officer at the time when his family got murdered by those raiders. He didn't think that they were gonNA come chasing all the way into this remote location where he took his vacation and they happen to be away. He was actually searching because he thought there were people coming after them. He went the wrong way. They got murdered. This caused him to become mad. Max whereas in the case of Carl and Lori and Laura. You can't blame much for as you can't Carl. But this happened when he was full blown. Rick Grimes Right. He was the character right there so I would actually argue losing Carl when he did was so much much worse than Max losing it before he became Mad Max. So let's put this in perspective Max loss on and I hate. I'm not trying to put down death by the way this is horrible. I never wanted but he. He was unable to protect his wife and child against a biker. Gang a good one and there were organized by the way and had a great flair for their costumes. What have you or uniforms? But he couldn't protect them from this biker gang and yet rick rhymes protected his wife and son and then his daughter and then even new sun with a Michelle his new wife for years with an Zombie apocalypse with warlords. Coming after them nonstop so kind of different things where you know apples to oranges right here but with that being said I will say. Ray You brought up some great points. I'm actually not so sure where justice is going to go with this just in you've heard points from both of us. Give us your judgment. Tell us what you think happened. Gives your process. Tell us who do you think won this match by a very very very slim margin. I mean super slim. The winner of this post apocalyptic wasteland sorta battle is Mad Max owning you very much ooh interest and it was coming because Justin is a smart man who could make smart decisions all right. Listen as a judge flattery. One gets you nowhere and there's no reason to thank me for doing my job. It's simply doing my job. I'm not giving you anything you know. I'm simply calling it as I see it. Maybe you earned it. But there's no reason to thank me. I'm just saying that because I take this very seriously. I just want to thank you for taking it very seriously. Okay we'll give us your process here. I mean this is a really good a really good match up and I wasn't really sure sometimes. I'm very confident and this. I was not what what led you to say. Okay Mad Max wins this battle. Okay so do you. WanNa can I give you numbers or no? You don't want to hear numbers absolutely give us numbers. Give us reasons like what some of the good points I made. What are some more of the good points I made? I want to hear it all right now. Okay here we go. This is where it got weird right in round one and round two. I had durability of Max in round one versus the brutality of grimes in round two. I gave them both arguments out of a score five. I gave them both four so they cancel each other out a little bit then in round one for Rick Grimes. We had survivability I gave that a score of three and then the preparedness agility factors of. Max I also gave a score of three so in round one Max. One in round two grimes one but where it came down to it to me in the last round and this is by a point five by half a point. Is that to me if this is a one on one battle between two people. Motivation is is crucial right but ultimately I think that Mad Max is more inclined just a hair to protect oneself. I don't know why he does this. You'd think that given the Givens Mad Max would be the one who says I got nothing to lose. But it seems to me that his his vengeance his revenge on this apocalyptic world is to survive so that he can remember his loss. I feel as though Rick Grimes is like. I've got to preserve what I have now. I've got to preserve what I have now. And this is a one on one fight and ultimately it came down to protecting oneself or protecting one's loved ones and Mad Max is the Guy Who protects himself. He puts himself. I ninety nine percent of the time and in a lot of the arguments that that we had back and forth year Rick. Grimes is always thinking about his family. And you know what he has to lose and I think that ultimately because Max has nothing to lose. It's like the opposite of that phrase. He has nothing to lose so therefore he will give it his all and so it was. It was really tough like I'm. I'm almost a sweaty as rick. Grimes right now. Honest to God and plus Rick. Grimes wears jacket in Atlanta during the humidity to that. I don't I never understood Yeah I never understood abroad. As an example of his bad decisions he's going to raise the anus level of of fashion. But I mean I gotTa tell you. There's actually some really interesting logic to that. Because you're do see that that Mad Max often is all about like. He's trying to prevent preserve his humanity or find it again right so that he's willing to go that extra step whereas rick is more single-minded maybe and kind of you know and maybe that singlemindedness something that. Mad Max is seen a billion times in a post apocalyptic Australia right. I think one other thing that gives Max just a little bit of an edge is Max has bad and this is outside of the dual but just what I from the arguments. What I've gathered from you guys. Is that what Max has? A bad thing happened. He gets better when Rick. Grimes has a bad thing happen. Who knows if he gets better he might spiral out of control. He my answer a phone. That doesn't work you know it's tough to say like. I think you watch the three movies and I think there's also something to discuss about how much information we have about. Grimes given that you know as week after week in year after year versus three movies of Mel Gibson. Mad Max. It's kind of tough to his very just tough to gauge. Because in movie making you know the stakes have to be bigger. Things have to be higher. So Max's Arc is constantly building and that's the character that were given right. He only gets bigger and better but grimes. He's got to go up and down because we gotta get ten seasons out of the shop. You know what I mean. That's true. No that's true. That is very true. Like Mad Max. He's got a rise to an iconic self within ninety minutes whereas Rick Grimes has to show frailty and and by the way who has an answer the phone and heard you know voice when the phone wasn't connected to the waller on or what have you. I will say that I think that Ray choosing ago only by the Mel Gibson version was a smart move because this sort of mental stability argument might be called heavily into question. If Tom Hardy was brought Tom. Hardy's version was brought into although from my understanding of what is Canon. They are successors correct correct but we always have to go and respect. What each other kind of scam..

"I can't let you live Passed his first encounter. So I gotta take you out. Just like what he did eventually against when finally was based one on one no as I interference against Nagin. He took him out very quickly. How broken piece of glass on the ground took it slices neck open and Let's leave for a while so it took him like what three seasons in order to get there? I mean you're talking about a guy who seems to kill on site not here. It took him three plus years of television. In order to finally make it happen I would also say since. Rick is so used to working with his team and having backup from his team. I could totally see rick trying to leave the scene in order to go get back up a thing that the lone wanderer Mad Max is never going to do and I can see about Max chasing after him and taking him down that way as well. Let me. Let me ask you this. Who Do you think has more actually? I'm not even ask. Who Do you think has more that one of the brilliant things about the walking dead and Jesse may remember seeing. This was actually really done well in the comic book as well is when Rick Grimes in the prison and or I think he was actually in the housing complex series. And here's a phone ring. The answers it and it's his dead wife talking to him. And then you see another panel. The phone's disconnected right are like the wiring is completely ripped out of the wall. It's not connected to anything. It's just as psychosis coming to play mad. Max by the way also has referred to win you know he refers to that in fury road. But that's part of the national because it's not that's not the character we're talking about here so don't don't because I'm not that's cool. You didn't have enough time to watch that one. But the great by the way. He also suffers from the psychosis. Let me go to my point number three because this is where. It's all going to come really really clear for you. Okay and I'm going to call my point number three family. Why because that's what Rick. Grimes is fighting for and his family by the way is both literally his family members as well as you know the close group he has around him whom he considers his family as well now rick. Grimes is known for many things. But again it's dedication to his immediate circle of friends that really makes them stands out and at this particular juncture Rick Grimes. It's so weird. He's one of the most brutal and ruthless quote Unquote Heroes. Ever on television. And it's a cause and effect type of situation where Rick Grimes his love for. His family causes him to be so insanely brutal. As demonstrating the last point in terms of brutality. However this dedications family provides the justification for this crazy brutality. That's who he's fighting for. Who is Mad Max fighting for? It's whomever he finds who needs help during that episode which is noble and he's also fighting for his own humanity which means he'll put themselves in situations where he might sacrifice himself for the greater good. That's cool but when you pose position against like a dad who has to fight to keep his family alive. The motivation to win is very very different. So when I did my research I found quite a few best of rick runs videos on youtube and Google. And what have you that? Showed Rick Grimes most effective and brutal moments? That were all fueled by him believing who he was facing was trying to either kill someone who consider family. Were trying to kill him in order to rent him from being with his family ever again. Okay get kind of crazy but here we go so one. Example is when he was held at gunpoint by Roy Grouper survivors and a like outdoors area with one of them. Start new attack his young son. Carl really horribly graphic way. So rick is held at gunpoint. He shoves head backwards. Headbutts the personal in the gun. Who then shoots the gun right by Rick's ear rights MRS head with a gun chuckles options here? He's all disoriented. He's screwed up. He can't think straight. Rick seizes son still being attacked he stands up and throws a punch the person with the gun and then takes a horrible beating from that same person who then playfully grabs rick and puts them as big bear hug and the attacker laughs. And says what are you GONNA do now? Sport with which Rick hearing the cries of his son bites into this guy's jugular and rips out a large chunk of his flesh causing him to fall to the ground where he bleeds to death at that point ric stands up and proceeds to take out each member of the rogue survivors one by one by grabbing a knife and stabbing them up close and personal prison style. It was really really crazy another time. We see this as when you know. There's a huge Zombie. Hoard that attacks the community called Alexandrian. And it's like this new community. Rick is in. He thought that he had finally found his Utopian home. The whole thing and the Zombie hoard breaks in. There's thousands of them. They just killed this woman that he loved Took out her son and then his son through all of this got shot in the face. Losing his eye and all this is happening within like minutes. The rick takes some of the survivors. They go into a house and board up the House and everything and he's locked in that house. He's hearing the zombies barricaded again. Thousands zombies trying to get in and the mood is grim. Everyone is scared except for Rick so he looks at his remaining family. Members at risk grabs his acts. It's not a huge act by the way like one of those one hand or acts. Watch out the door and starts to attack the horde. He starts to attack the Zombie Horde and he starts taking out one after another two at a time the whole thing and he's like mowing them down like a May a maniac families at risk other members of your community jump in but it's Rick's ferocity in spirit. I Guess Fuel Bai's desire to save his family that turns into such a crazy freaking force of nature. So why does this factor matter will? What do you think is going to happen? When these two face off bad match will be fighting for survival right against what he thinks is some kind of tough survivor of the apocalypse. Somehow Rick Grimes however is going to be fighting against someone who he thinks wants to prevent him from seeing his family and who may be also at least in his eyes could be a threat to them as well down the road which means what he wants to take them out brutally and fast mad. Max What we're trying to win the fight whereas Rick Ryan's trying to you know we'll be fighting to save. His family and rich motivation by the way will be way more significant than mad. Max is for that reason and we've seen before the more motivated rick..

"Tale of the tape or both of our combatants. Today's tale the tape is brought to you by. Who HAD WENT. T-shirts except imitations. Find the official who went shirts on Amazon by typing Hashtag. Who would win rape? Please give us the details on mad. Max Max Rocket Tant Sqi was the equivalent of a highway patrol. Officer in post apocalyptic world who lost his entire family to a raider gang and without direction turns to a life as a wasteland scavenger. He first appeared in the movie. Mad Max in one thousand nine hundred seventy nine and was created by George Miller and Byron. Kennedy Max was the best that the main force patrol had to offer keeping the highways of post apocalyptic Australia as free and safe as one could expect. He was so good though that he started to gain notoriety and caught the eye of gang boss toe cutter after killing one of his men named nightrider. Not David Hasselhoff. This led to the gang following Max when he took a vacation a leave of absence and they killed his wife and son. Max did not take this very well and took each member of the gang throughout the rest of the movie. Max is a master driver and is one of the most ferocious presences behind the wheel. Instant automatic history fun fact due to the low budget nature of Mad. Max George Miller had to work weekends as an ER doctor in order to keep the movie going. This can also be seen in Max rockets name because he was named after Karl Von Rockets Sanski. Who created the rockets ski method for removing organs during autopsy? That's fun and that's mad. Max Okay interesting here. The details for Rick. Grimes now rick. Grimes the TV version was created by Robert Kirkman based off the comic book version of course and made his first appearance on the very first episode of the walking dead series called days. Gone by back in two thousand ten rick. Grimes Small Town Sheriff's deputy who has a son Carl with his wife Laurie. He Awakens from a coma after a life threatening gunshot wound to find the world overrun by zombies or walkers as they are referred to within the walking dead storyline rick searches for Lori and Carl and find them in an Atlantic camp with his best friend. Shane Walsh and becomes the group's leader. Although rick quickly adapts to the notion of killing the undid walkers he retains his morality toward the living rich morality however is constantly tested protect his family and friends over time his moral slowly diminished and as a result he becomes colder towards his enemies. Rick struggled to keep humanity intact throughout the entire series now rick demonstrates that he's an amazing leader ruthless combatant incredible melee fighter. He's super resourceful. At an expert user of firearms such as his Colt Python he carries on him at all times. He'll do anything to protect his friends and family and when it comes to surviving apocalypse there may be none better than Rick. Grimes and here's interesting. Fact about Rick Grimes. Did you know that he was this close to being the punisher is true when AMC was casting the character? Grimes one of the leading men for the role was none other than Thomas. Jane who played the Punisher in the movie from the early two thousands. He lost out on the role to Andrew. Lincoln but Netflix is punisher played by John. Byrne Paul did land the role of former best friend to rick. Grimes Shane Walsh. And now you have the facts on both opponents Justin. Do you have any questions before we get started? No I don't think so. That was really good summary. Guys. I'm very thank you. Hey thanks we. We've done this before. And you're like a master master chef. We're also like masters of of who would win which is not as important what you do but we're good. Well I'm entertained. And that's what matters. That is all that matters all right. Get ready to be entertained. Even more ray give us your point number one point number one and I just want to talk a little bit about the basics of Mad Max now first off his incredible durability this is a man who in the post apocalyptic world takes savage beating after savage beating and keeps coming back for more. He is not somebody that you can just put down and assume he's going to stay there most notably in the very first Mad Max movie. He's going after the biker gang which you know murdered his family and he sees a down vehicle with the man off to the side of the road. It's a trap. However as Mac starts to approach that man he gets shot in the knee in the leg you know. In the general area there with a shotgun blast that catches him straight clean through knocking him down and then the gang takes their motorcycle and runs over his arm at the elbow. Dear Lord they leave him there you know to his own devices to presumably die however Max is able to get himself up. Get himself back to the car and continue chasing these people. So if Rick Grimes versus. Mad Max we're GONNA talk about a combat situation where both of them are going to take damage. Mad Max has that will within that allows him to keep going despite every kind of grievous injury that he could possibly take even in the Second Mad Max Movie The road warrior. He crashes his car he goes through the windshield and is landed one. I closed from being bloodied. And he's still got his shock it out ready to take out the guy when he comes towards him to the point where the gang. That's pursuing him goes away they just let him be because they know they can't put down. Mad Max that I can't believe that Rick. Grimes could do it. Any better than a full team of post-apocalyptic raiders. I also WanNa talk a little bit about his accuracy because he is sort of a master with a sawed off shotgun. He's able to shoot the shotgun at really decently far range as he shows in the incident where he gets run over at the elbow he pulls out a shotgun shoots a guy off of his own motorcycle as he approaches him. That just shows its ability to hit moving targets as well as to still hit targets despite massive incalculable amounts of pain not just that when Max is behind the wheel of a car or a truck or a semi or motorcycle. His accuracy with the shotgun is amazing because he could not only keep his hand on one hand on the wheel and keep the car driving and keep it safe and keep it moving and keep it fast but you can also use his other up to shoot and basically any direction. He needs to with pinpoint. Accuracy I've never seen him miss a shot last thing. I want to talk about some of the winds that he's had because Max has beaten some rough characters out there. You know you talk about. Initially he's able to crash toe cutter and get him to get blown up as well as catch the nightrider in the first movie in the second movie. He's able to defeat Lord humongous in a giant race where he gets in facing and turning the wrong way to get him to crash into a semi. But if we're GONNA talk hand to hand we've gotTa talk about beyond Thunderdome when he fights blaster in the giant Thunderdome cage which I'll get to a little bit in my point number two because it's just such an impressive fight. But he's just fighting the biggest and the toughest and the baddest people who survived post-apocalyptic environments and thrived in them and one by one mad. Max Defeats them one after another after another. He's not just beaten slow moving zombies. He's beaten the real deal and that's my point number one all right a lot of good points you know mad. Max is impressive. His ability is insane. I do have to agree with that. I will however say that I wanNA talk about the Shotgun. And how many rounds is a double barrel shotgun correct? It is a double barreled shotgun. So he's got what two rounds he can fire off before he has to reload. That is correct out though. If you get hit twice with a double barreled shotgun because Max doesn't miss you doesn't need to reload okay. So he'll shoot rick. Grimes pretty hard target to hit. He hasn't been shot a whole lot within the series and he's got a revolver the Colt Python which is a prequel name. So he's got about six rounds. I believe before he has to reload and I do think reloading. He can carry a lot more ammo on him than mad. Max Carey in terms of shotgun AMMO. But that's kind of like little point. I'm not going to disagree with too much of what you said. He's pretty impressive. And when you put them in a car or a car chase dad's where I think he really shines which is what. I'm going to kind of bring up in my point number one before I go just anything you want to say to raise point. No I I liked it all. I was watching the movie. And my mind's eye the whole time yeah I'm into IT I. I think that the the durability is really the crucial thing here. I think it's just the fact that this guy won't die is is the most impressive thing marksmanship you know. How can he shoot somebody? One hundred and fifty yards away with a shotgun. I D K. You know that's a little bit of like I don't know what the Australia would is. You know there's a little bit of filmmaker magic there so it's it's I haven't written in smaller font his accuracy with weapons but right now durability is is it's got a bullet point next to it all right okay and that's and that's a fair point because I'm a fan of Mad Max and his durability just can't question it but I'm GonNa get to my point number one which is actually going to showcase something different and this is for Rick. Grimes and his his one of his things you can do is just call that survivability and when you look at both these characters the actually have a lot in common you know former law enforcement. They're both great fighters great improvisers and just like mad. Max Rick Grimes can also take insane. Amounts of physical punishment. And just keep on going however when you look at each what characters. Top skill or competency. Is You actually see a big difference? Rick? Grimes greatest skill in my opinion again is his survivability mad. Max is great as skill is his driving. I'm not saying he can't survive really well. I'm just saying like when you put them in a car or a car chase. What have you? He's he's top notch. I mean this this is the man this is the character you WANNA be with. But we're talking more like a one random encounter so in this camera. I don't think vehicles are going to be really allowed is not like all of a sudden madman shows up in his super charger and Rick. Grimes is on his horse. I don't know we'll we'll let recount talk about that as well rick. Grimes had survive. Not just a post apocalyptic world where zombies were coming after you he had this also survive with warlords and people with great ammo and who are well stocked with weapons and fuel because they were hoarding themselves coming after them. The big difference. In these post apocalyptic world is I believe. The Mad Max post apocalyptic world resources are really really slim right so they hoard them and they don't have a lot of them. That's why you'll see amuse more like firebombs in sticks in spears whereas in the walking dead world people still have lots of AMMO. Oddly enough because I think the story takes place in Atlanta and the southeast so the other point is think about what Mad Max would do in the walking dead world sure. I'm pretty sure he do really really well. But he's not at the point of where Rick. Grimes is where he turned. Survivability into an art form where all of a sudden he's surrounded literally by a horde of zombies and he figures out not only to get himself out but all of his family members and people within his immediate group out of there safely as well. You know when it comes to a situation where both these people said. We're driving crazy. Opponents dress like the road warrior tag team in wrestling again mad. Max Has the edge. But as Rick Grimes when he has to be surrounded. Get everyone out safely. Find THEM PLACE TO STAY. Get shot at be taking on really well armed self imposed warlords with what you know. With all of their resources that are still modern day weapons. Rick Grimes. Deathly has more wins and comes out ahead so I do believe his survivability as at a higher level than Mad Max is that's my point number one and that's a lot to take in right there and actually. I really liked that point a lot. I would. You know you say Mad Max is big. Skill is driving. Here's an excellent driver. I would actually counter that and say his greatest skill is his adaptability and his ability to come into a situation and then make make it the best for himself and we saw that in movie after movie after movie. A couple of the things that you talk about here is his survivability of Rick Grimes okay. He took a gun blast in regular world and ended up in a regular hospital and he didn't get up and keep fighting the way maxwell keep fighting. He ended up in a coma so rough. He missed the Zombie Apocalypse. That's that's a pretty big deal right there. If you get shot and you're not able to answer the bell especially in a WHO would win battle. You're right he didn't get shot in the knee and didn't have his arm run over. He got shot in Center. Mass into internal organs. So I just hear you saying he doesn't dodge very well so what I would say to. That is also rick. Grimes relies on his team and mad. Max doesn't Mad Max as a sole survivor a lone wanderer if you will who walks the waste by himself and really doesn't want to be around other people that's how he's been able to make it work. And if mad max in the.

And I just tend tickets. Tight held something called the minute man. Which is rancher on. The borders has to take down some cartel assassins. Mexican boys being chased by. Crops are bad this year. Which is Robert Lorenzo? Which is you know the guy who made trouble the curve. One of the eastbound disciples. Yeah and then something called main made in Italy which that's a drama. "Mom and dad up tall. I'll give them right. I degree which I pump my fist at the reveal of. Nolte being his brother movie it makes such beautiful nonsense. But it's so perfect right right. Yeah I I never saw called pursued. I feel like I need to watch it. It was just so marred by him. Coming out and being movie doesn't have the jump Koteswara magic but not a bad movie I liked. It was fine. I love my niece sense. I mean I also feel like what I'll say about cold pursue is it feels like there's a new trope in action from John Wick which is like the fucking slickest sexiest mercenaries you've ever met sure. We're like I always feel like my memory of thugs from action movies where they were like big hairy ugly dude right right or then like over the top sexualize women and I feel like now. It's this thing where every guy looks like he reads G. Q. Magazine and it's just like the the hottest fucking dude in the war. It's my favorite thing about the Nissan. Movies is that is so big that he can barely move like he is not swift in five minutes. Yeah well then they put him in a puffy jacket. You should see him in this movie. Looks like a big loaf man. Love bread remember when he was in many bike international. Of course I'm just trying to see what else he's up to. Yeah I don't know. Did he say anything like recently but it was like men in black and cold. Pursuit were the two things that came out right after his like whole cadre was that. Akash and he had this movie called ordinary love which would Lesley Manville which is like a sort of sad. Maybe someone's dying movie. There was a tiff. So that's coming out this year but I also feel like they're like we're not gonNa let him do press ever again. Well he's got three movies coming out next year and this year given once called honest thief in which him. And Courtney thing.

"Mama's we're GONNA do that. I'm just trying to see if there's any other of course there was the famously weird American version where they dubbed over the dialogue right. No one likes George Miller says never seen it tanked in the US. They dubbed over like oil. Like hey you right emily. I Love Ronald Reagan. Were saying But row Village roadshow Sold it to Warner Brothers Where they had one person distribution really really bullish on it botched in the US but sold it really hard and Japan and it blew up there. And that's what sort of started the run of it being this like global crossover sensation because once Japan did well and the posters are also evocative for him in the weird cop leather with a helmet on traffic car. And they would like Taylor new piece of graphic design for each country and it's sort of just did well everywhere all non-english-speaking territories because in all English territories. They released this horrible fucking DUB. That is horrendous. I saw a clip of it. It's so fucking bad. I'm sure yeah also super weird to dub the English language yes. It is super weird and became problem movies of all time. The weirdest thing is that at the Australian Film Institute awards that year. They didn't even nominate. Oh I was GONNA say. They didn't even nominate Mel Gibson but he actually one for a different movie called Tim. Wow which is one hundred percent the Oscar Bait Movie Mentally Handicapped. Twelve twenty year old works as a labor. Looks like they were like Yeah Mad. Max was pretty good like oh Tim. You were still moving as tim by the way next miniseries Tim. It's just just that Tam for Laurie Mel Gibson. All right so. There's no box office for this movie partly because it was barely released in America anyway but also because it's a long time ago but we do have to talk about February eighteen thousand eleven which is win big Mama's you specifically want to do the third one we have February eighteenth two thousand eleven Obama scrolling from my son debuted number five at the box office with a sixteen million dollar opening weekend. Five at sixteen five. And it's one of three big openers. That weeks everything just did. Okay what does it classic February where it's like Twenty Nineteen Thousand Nine Hundred Sixteen twenty? You know everything's making kind of the same amount of money. Does it end up fifty or does? I don't think that's applied like that. No it ended up at thirty seven. Oh it was a two multiplier like in the old number numbers which I do appreciate has sort of shining for like this is where you Wanna end up a little below but do they. Is this like a four day weekend? Is this a prison say weekend or am I wrong? It is which it might be okay. That's number five. It is it is number one that we do it reverse order. Let's let's go. Let's go all right. Number four was number one the week before allow and is a comedy with a big comedy star a comedy with a big Collie Star. Yup.

"Still cops and their civilization and they'll still do laundry right. It's just that the crime is out of control like that's sort of what sort of near future. I remember the first time I saw it and not just that I had seen road warrior before it but also that I had seen the things influenced by Max. You heard the way people talk about mad. Max and how influential it was in the post apocalyptic genre that. I watched it for the first time going like so. What is the Halfway Point Society Collapses? Exactly you're like is this about society. Classing is like no. It's a simpler story right about a cop trying to take someone down. Yeah you know take a gang down right and it's just in a world where it's kind of like yeah shits fucked up so when I first saw it I remember being not underwhelmed by by going like. Oh but this isn't the real shed a sure I mean it's raw movie and I watched it the times and I watch even twice in the last couple of days because I watched it once with commentary once without and I was really trying to apply to it. This like star wars thing of try to just pretend that the other ones don't exist your view this just as its own movie not even like fucking smits bit but as a light one hundred percent. Individual movie would probably have a better reputation if he hadn't made three incredible sequels afterwards. Yeah if it's got a good reputation. Oh totally but I'm saying if this was his dad alive p rather lane race being his evil dead wall his skills on display. I mean we evil dead great. Yes yes and we'll talk more evil dead comparisons in later episodes as we compare it to the evil dead sequels. And it's a pretty clear. The most insanely clear. Yes but this move right. You start out with like in the near future. Yes after the title years from now. It's striking just like the black on white. The music is booming. Mad Max and like chrome letters. He said. The title was literally. I just want something. That sounds cool is alliterative and took a your eight year like that. Must be the coolest movie Mad. Max Mad Max. I loved it. Yeah I think it was mad was the first word I ever said but you still Max is the second they thought you were. GonNa say Mama and then you just had but you have that like you know a few years in the future and then you have the halls of justice where the letters are falling off right and you see a street sign that says anarchy right spell the beginning of it is. You're like yeah it's so cool wall and then you see the sign amount of fatalities that have you have four pieces of just drooled sentiments funny. Is this anarchy. It's like A. N. A. R. C. Hi but you have like four things in the first five seconds that visually do so much table setting for like this is just sort of like the temperature of this place right and then there is the head cop who is shirtless wearing a scarf. And then you're.

"First day shooting the first piece with the car in this new stunt driver They get the shot. It's not great and then when he asked him to reset the guy backs off dent the car and George Miller just goes like. I can't do that the he goes. I'm in over my head. I clearly can't handle this. I'm so freaked out by the fact that the injury happened before we started filming. I shouldn't be making this movie so they reach out to the guy whose name I forget who direct BMX bandits. I've seen that movie quit. This point is like an Australian Michael Kim and yes Bmx bandits was directed by no no but he hadn't made it yet because BMX vendors. Came out for this guy. Brian Trencher D- Smith. Yes and George Miller and Kennedy met also also made Leprechaun three. Let's put some respect on plus some respect Hossain Church molars like A. I can't fucking do this. Let's hire him. He's an old pro doing like Australian. Tv Miller had never been on a proper film set before and this guy who's like an annoy to handle that he's done action stunt stuff you know. There are a lot of like cop shows in Australia. Which is mostly where they're pulling their crew from an. They'll feel comfortable with this guy allstate producer. I can't do this. And all the biker actors come to him and they're like we're not doing the yeah and so out of canceled a couple of days but George Miller goes like you know what you're right. I have to do this and he comes back does it. The biggest entry still to date on any of the movies happens in pre production of the first one which is pretty not. Do for you though. How's he doing? We checked in on him doing great. Okay he's doing great he's Great. Can Guy Terrific Guy Cheeto? Is She doing? Okay Cheeto Chitose. She's one of the fucking in which one inferior really. Yeah so I read the names of the ladies inferior to that of right now. Cheeto capable cheeto toast. The Dag in the splendid ignorant these are the other like five women in ferry route. Really yeah you know capable cheese valkyrie like Nevada. That's the people they offer technically. I've been in multiple gangs. I've just been thinking Nicholas Mean. Technically technically gang graffiti crew nine. He's I.

"Bad movie? Australian mob movie okay. Oh Ben Ben Mendelsohn her. That's when Ben Mendelsohn. That was of course they turned it into everybody's favourite. Tnt show. That's fully on the air season five. How many seasons? I made three four. I want to say maybe a fourth is coming like three or four. Let's see four season. Four Seasons of the Animal Kingdom been renewed for but I rarely watch TNT but when basketball playoffs or anything you know watching T. basketball a whole right and anytime you watch that they're just like TNT's great lineup for example animal kingdom this year Denis leary's it I'm like no he's not it's made up you made it all up. It's all made up. It's one of those fucking things where like I don't know if this a solo case but when you're like for ten years I'm not Kidding Ellen. Barkin inch Scott speedmen of the stars of it. I think she on her gold globe at some point. Possible Ellen. Barkin is smirk is the is correct but I believe she's no longer on the show. I think that a lot of them are now dead. Yes because you know in the animal kingdom right Larry will come for you. It's it's Dennis leary playing the Guy Pearce character. Maybe I don't know does she. Did Not get a Golden Globe nomination. Sure yeah you were shooting too high. It's gotten to Saturn nuts out and one motion picture Senator Dodd. That's it those are so what I was. GonNa say is it's that stat which I don't know if it's still the case but that for like ten plus years. Usa was far and away the highest rated cable channel. Yeah because they burn notice all these shows that like fall into the antiquarian site that doesn't exist. You know anyone who's watching royal pains. Yeah now the thing about royal pays guys are royal pains political animals. The lowest rate is show history of. Us unfortunately didn't a stretch it out. Gone what's up with a yes okay? So H- Yuki Barnes comes out of Usc right you Qian's burns. Jesus Hugh Keys Burn. Burn of course Plato Cutter in this yes. And then we'll eventually show up as Morton Joe Morton Joe in Ma'am x Ray road but was thought of as this sort of like Brando. Ask Very imposing. Right he's Husky. He's got a face he's unconventional. He's very behavioral. He's very handy. I mean so much of the Shit. He doesn't movie is improvised physically or energy. Wise the things which is yeah. Another thing they talk about is that He was very big into the like with the biker. Boyz with gang being like we got like really be again. We gotta be like united sure. Sure sure so. This is a crazy thing they would do. Which in retrospect maybe inspire. Jared LETO IN THE WRONG WAY. Right Right They would cut their thumbs and then write letters for the other cast members with their own blood. Okay that's very jared Lido in suicide. Yeah that's crazy so they'd like broke into like Mel Gibson's hotel room and like is that where Mel Gibson learned to be a prankster. Maybe because until he was an anti Semite famous drunk anti-semite wife Harasser famous goofy like Mel Gibson. Put A CIGAR IS ASKING. Take a picture of it or what? It was just like Oh Great. You know just like the nineties can we get in the. He's notorious prankster. Any off fees. But that's the crazy thing. Is You watch this documentary. And they're all talking about like your intense. We slept together cutting ourselves and doing all this stuff and was like yeah they were. They had a vibe going on and then they cut to other people and they were like a mel was terrified. He would come to us. Complain all the time believing like he did not sanction their buffoonery. And he's like they left me notes and stuff. They were like really in character and they were like Melwood call us. He was worried they were going to attack him on sets. You want protection the idea that these guys were freaking Mel Gibson out. This is when Mel Gibson's just a level of prankster. You also wonder if he's like. Oh is this supposed to behave on movie? So the of Max. Let's get into. Yeah because we've been doing now done. I mean they shot guerrilla style. Or whatever right. There's all that legend where they were like. What IF THREE MONTHS SHOOT. Which is pretty fucking long for a movie like this. Although I believe it was partly because What's her name got injured though? The original wife got injured so they delayed them two weeks. Get well so this. This is the time of that for a movie. That is all insane stunts. The biggest entry. That happened happened two days before filming started. Which was their stunt supervisor. Who was also going to be there. Lead stunt man and the woman they had hired to be. Madame wants his wife. You know gotten a motorcycle. Crash leaving like pre production Because that's another thing they talk about is like they were so like strapped and so much of the budget went to the vehicles for this movie that all the motorcycles and the muscle cars were also being used as like transport like they were like Byron. Kennedy was like dropping off crew members every night in the V. Eight interceptor. That's so so. The stunt guy gives the lead actress a ride home on a motorcycle. And there's like a freak accident and they spin out and they go into the office and George Miller is a doctor immediately able to analyze them. And he's like your leg is broken in like six places right. This is gonNA take like three four months to fully recover. You're not be able to walk. And the other guy was wearing glasses. And when he crashed they went into his face and his nose was lacerated. Like all this fucking Shit. He had internal bleeding So they freak out They hire a new guy to be temporary. Stunt Guy They hire a new actress. Samuel he read the screenplay and also the scheduling sure around now all that anyway.

"They anglicized that to Miller And then the mom was also Greek. Refugees from Anatolia disrupted in twenties by the population exchange. And they moved to Australia. Which was I. Think a country where it's like the great unknown. Let's go make a life right and the other side of the world now. There's one thing I couldn't figure out and I kept on looking for an anecdote about what the activation moment is but when he goes from being a medical student and a doctor to starting to make experimental films on the side. It sounds like he was making short films. I'll he was in medical so he made a short one minute short. That one student competition then. He went to a film workshop. Melbourne university when he starts where he needs Byron Kennedy. And and that's all while he's still in medical. Yeah he graduates. He completes his regiment residency. Nineteen seventy two and that year they found Kennedy Miller. That have you know. Production Company and so Y-. His first work was violence in cinema. Part One which. I desperately tried to find but is a twenty minute short film that starts out as a sort of like academic lecture run the nature of violence in films where he showing clips and talking about the way we process violence in the film as. Meta thing where the violence starts happening to. The professor faster and people were so freaked out by. They thought it was real. They thought it was a documentary. They thought it was filmed by right. And it had this very controversial reputation and played it a bunch of festivals but it gets distribution from an Australian Distribution Company. And they say and he didn't even realize distribution was thing. He didn't realize there was a pathway to be able to make films. You know I. It seems like a very Unattainable thing and they said you know if you had a feature we would distribute that too and the origin of Mad Max is in nineteen seventy one distribution company. When I'm forgetting the name of CEDA. George Miller Byron Kennedy. If you had a feature we would distribute this and eight nine years later they come up with Mad Max and for a movie that feel so many guys going. Let's just make a movie tomorrow? Not that if we could set it up overnight but mad max is so priority and so- spare that it feels like something that they rushed to the finish line. I watched we push back the release the release the recording this episode. Because I found in my mad Max box set. There is a two hour and forty minute do I have. This is the BLU ray box set. I have run with discs. Okay there's the high octane. That's Okay. So that's the one where there's A. Dvd isn't standard DEF FOR THE EXTRA Z. Me Its own desk. And it's called the madness of Max two hours and forty minutes just on the first movie which I watched very freshly. Why is it high octane? Can you watch it really fast? You can? That's an option cool. The actual answer is they released a box set after fury road were. They were like finally. They're all together. They left off a bunch of special features so then they released six months later. And we're like never mind here's the actual one and it still feels like it's not as good and comprehensive as it should be because there's tricky rights with to me. I forget there's something weird about it. The first one is the one that. Mgm has taken the other three are owned by Warner brothers in terms of distribution. Yeah they are but I think some it feels like they've never gotten the proper restorations. They deserve this. One is the Ross looking. Yes yeah ooh doors.

Why won't NFL teams hire minority coaches?

Why won't NFL teams hire minority coaches?

"Three head. Coaching spots have been filled this week. But none of those. Three coaches were minorities while the Rooney rule has been followed. Some are beginning to believe that minority forty candidates are not being taken seriously for the open jobs and anonymous African American. NFL Assistant Coach said that the League has quote finally shown. It's not the place as for black men to advance. It's ridiculous it's disgusting. We can sell tickets and make plays but we can't lead Shannon. Why isn't the Rooney rule role working? Well I think until skip this diversity thing yeah. Diversity is a great great to talk about but until you get someone the leadership position that says you know what. I don't just want to talk about it. I want to be about it so until you get older ships that actually wants to put some substance to this and this is what that you're GonNa get now if the general manager there's one general manager that's what minority and that's CR- Chris greer in Miami. There's zero owners that are it shouldn't say minorities. I guess because shot con radically a minority. But when you get the gist of what I what. I'm trying to say until leadership gets more diverse. You're I'm not gonNA have a more diverse hiring background skills. This was puzzling to be. Is that Eric. Enemy has the exact Zac job that Matt Nagy had negative and call plays any recall. Please man they can get the job. Doug Peterson sedinko plays true. Recall to play around Rivera's on but Ron Rivera was not the defensive coordinator in Philly. He he became a D. coordinator what's he got to the D. Coordinator in Chicago. You are you in San Diego. Yeah but he got his getting these enter coaching tree. Eric B enemy has the exact same job. That Matt Nagy Doug Peterson has and he's not getting opportunity is spirit but this. I don't really think that they go into it. Unless you incentivize this. Okay if you how minorities kill we maybe you have an extra three to five five dollars and cap space. That's the only thing that resonates with these owners because I get it skipped if I spent three billion. Let's just say I spent three billion dollars for a restaurant run. You Go tell me what the hell I need to cook. Cook whatever I WanNa Cook it there. And that's how they look at it. Jerry Jones spent money for this. This this mind you oh tell me why should get killed but but this notion that Oh and they brought Muhiba Marvin Marvin Lewis. He brought him in to to do that. Situation wasted the same with the giants the giants they had irebi enemy. They what Joe Judge Chris Rashard Rashard. Excuse me Chris Restoring. Yeah so now. Now we're down to one. Vacant Cleveland Reunion. I'm talking about how good already know. Angle get no frills JAYCO network skill. He already interviewed there. So you would now now the take my name off the leader and solid rubber solid. Take my name off the list. Because he's GonNa get Mad Max two and a half years if you're lucky that seems to instead that's all Jimmy can stomach now if you look at it they keep these. You look at Mike Patton. You look at all the guys they've had and these guys have had I think. Hugh Jackson stayed the longest at two and a half years. But everybody's been two years the list huge only two and a half two and a half long but you get you get these other guys you get pretty kitchens and you look at patent and you look at a I forget. Just give all these one year jazz. WE ACHE AAC CLEVELAND. That in Cleveland of the North this skill ruining rules a joke. I get it. You know minorities Cadillac. An affirmative action thanksgiving. Yeah but in -firmative action. I guess it's federal dollars. You'RE NOT GONNA get the money if you don't do this. The NFL is a is a private entity. So what can you do. What Ki- what can you give? Nfl Do not the so. I have been tracking this for a long time because one of my best friends is John. Wooten who is now the retired leader of the Fritz Pollard. Alliance and he was the driving force behind instituting the Rooney rule as I hiring practice in the national shirow all league and John's point from the start was I just need interviews because if a young assistant coach gets interviewed a couple of times times it gets reported in his name gets out there and if another owner sees that name enough over maybe a couple of years hiring cycles else maybe an owner says chee that guy. He's getting a lot of interviews. Maybe I should bring in. Maybe I should be more open minded to him. But if you're GONNA curse because if I get a a lot of interviews and I'm not getting hired was wrong why here the me getting hired cave liability with that. But John's point in the end was I'd rather have interviews than not have interests. Okay okay so let's go back to the stat that I use last week. The Institute of Diversity and Ethics In sports twenty nine thousand nine racial and gender report card for the National Football Bali. The League got actually an a plus for hiring of color. Assistant coaches right a sit a plot. Oh that's progress right. It got a deep loss for hiring head coach of Color White eight-plus assistance d-plus head head coaches. There's a big disconnect there and it shows you. That owners are fine. Oh hire two or three black assistant fine with that but nope nope. I don't want to head coach to be black. Right gives quite to the restaurant you can cook. You'll be in the bank but Michelle not the bridge. I roll up now okay so when I texted back and forth last we can use this last week of John Wooten just beside himself now. He is devastated by this this development his point was that only one. GM Chris Grin Miami. Point out is use. John's word heartbreaking because it could start with the GM right a black GM of or of color could be more open minded to say to the owner. Hey listen this guy is really bring him in. Let me let me introduce him to you right. The conduit to the owner can be stronger. Iran have I don't know six or eight black. GM right right. We've had them around the league four or but all of a sudden there's a dearth to rape Barma with Barma within Cleveland. He'd Gone Rick Smith who I know very well be in Denver. He interviewed for The Washington. Ashington John Daniel Snyder said head coach could be a head coach. Basically general manager after the Washington like who are the head coaching after the draft. The General Mattis. Okay so sometimes there is group think or shink sheep among the owners because in the end they do want to win right. And if they're looking around the League league and that black head coaches really successful they say well I want one of those. I want to go that direction right well. There was one black head coach who started to have success late in the year ear and he happened to be allied with Chris. Clear in Miami and Brian Floors off the Patriots. Well they started out all time badge for about what seven seven games fifty. Nine seven opening renders and then they basically it felt like they turned the whole roster iside down which they needed to do and then all of a sudden the last nine games they go five and four they upset the eagles and then they went to foxborough and just basically ended the season. I thought for the new New England Patriots playoff teams right. Okay so all the sudden Brian floor floor with the help of Chris greer. They're having big success. It looks like it's headed in the right drug us us but it wasn't enough of a splash to create momentum through the hiring process and right because John Wooden again texted me back with so many names he said we have so many in the pipeline. Who already started with Eric? B Enemy and Chris Rock. I think Chris Shaw Bad Year on defense but when I watch him interviewed when I watch his body language. It's a stunt man he's he's got. CEO Written all over him. He looks like a commanding officer to me. There's not enough black head coaches skip. Because because you look you look at Mike McCarthy guest job he hires the guy that gave him his opportunity coordinator fifteen years ago so you see the circle. We'll skip once you become a head coach. What do you do you go to the combine? You go to say elbow you got your drake. He goes to the coaches meeting and Yada Yada Yada and to connect with the boom boom boom right right. So if I'm not in that Lou. How do I get into loops? Because a rid of staff they said eighty percent of the jobs are never posted so in other worth people get hired somebody a friend or family member is not what you know who you know There in live the roof. It does house so to finish John. Bruton's list of pipeline candidates being AMEE. Chris Rashard Robert Sala. He threw Jim Caldwell on his list. Is Jim Colwell was highly successful zestful. Jim called wheel lost his jaw. Going nine and seven in two years Matt Patricia has nine total win and he's still got a job now he goldwell still doesn't have another job he in four years. He went to the playoffs twice in the last year he went nine and seven and they said well you know we need to move in a different direction. uh-huh and the guy that's replaced has yet to win nine total games in two years. Do you still own a still on the clock. Okay Steve wilks got one shot in time. I'm one year in Arizona and he was gone. He's now the defensive coordinator in Cleveland which probably didn't help his cause this year that much but I don't hear his name no in Cleveland right right on the list. And then there's Terrel Austin who's young stripes potential star coach and John Wootton into his list with Marvin Lewis who he thinks deserves a second shy right. Okay so Jerry. Jones did observe in qualified for the Rooney rule by bringing in. I Marvin Lewis. I think Jerry was shrewd operating waiting there. Because he didn't pick a young like like Chris Rashard type interview him because of Jerry had interviewed a young potential upcoming head. Black coach right. There's more pressure on Jerry. What was wrong with right? What's the problem exactly? He went to Marvin Lewis because he thinks Marvin Lewis is kind of old news right right. He got his longtime time shot in Cincinnati. Listen I still think Marvin did a good job job seriously. Yes okay he went. Oh and seven in the playoffs but still it was Andy Dalton Alton you re you with covering the NFL and you remember what Cincinnati before. Marlene got there was John. Carter number one overall. You Got David Cleland with the fourth. The fourth picket. You got big day to day and Wilkerson purse around the second pick in the draft year after year after a year people. Forget what I know. Marvin didn't win a playoff game. But they weren't even getting close to the playoffs for Marvin got there. No so I was disappointed in Jerry because you know my heart Hartz. I'd love to see Jerry Jones higher black head coach and I think I probably won't live long enough or Jerry will live long enough to know.

These Are The WORST Games of 2019

"The worst games of twenty nine thousand nine all right and definitive. This is definitive and we played any of them. You and I have played one of them. Okay Yeah I wonder if I've played any of them I know I haven't I bet which means I did. Good Yeah you chose wisely. That's true we put up an article on this This week the article was very specifically the worst reviewed games and it was based on the metacritic scores. Because the truth is allow. These games idea doesn't even review because if it's a game that no one's ever heard of it's not doing anyone much services say hey here's a game you've never heard of. It's really bad. That's a good way to not very useful information information. But there's some high profile games from high profile Delo developers and publishers like squaring and left alive. Whoa you remember that one? No and it's Square. Kleenex live weight in review. We did that one. Yeah okay so we're only talking about the ones. We reviewed. Okay well there might be one gender Eh. Critics gems Yeah this is actually our lowest score the year three point eight. Wow that's as low as we got got. Yeah that is a rare the score for us. Yeah let's have. Some people were interesting. Because it used the artist that used to work a metal gear so the art was sort of reminiscent of Medicare but Kulik Kulik pinky like kind of style. Yeah Okay in our view. Call The creek creaky and frustratingly broken mix of stealth action. That's just what you want. is frustrating frustrating stealth any game. That's the worst combination possible so three point eight is as low as got. It's been a long time since we've given out like a one. I looked. Yeah I think two thousand and five what was it. It was like Elf bowling but it was ever boy it was elbowing one and two one. One carts yeah. That's really when you what about like bowling was free as like a flash game that you played free. But you'd rather pay for it. You WanNa play on your Nintendo DS. At least a two. If there's two games in their oneplus exact maybe it was one zero or two point five. We were in a meeting where a pair told us there was zero given even out and we said what was it for immediately. Should the name of a hockey game that we've never heard of so. I don't know if it's true or not I want to say I don't know if I want to say it was a an Olympic game it was it was a hockey. We're all right. It's both of them. They re released that year is hockey game and the review is zero and it says when you make a new game will write a new review. Yeah it was just. It was last year's game with new box art which I think happened with Viva this year actually on switch. But that's in their the twenty legacy addition addition for that was a switch version and I Jeans Review. I think it was Simon reviewed. It said this honestly no genuine reason. I could give you to purchase fever. twenty-nine switch if you already own fee for nineteen on switch which we gave it a four and even nineteen was matic. Simon should have given it zero that wouldn't really reserves Zeros for like utterly broken. I can't barely low the game. I'm not confident. Giving his era wouldn't break something on energy. I if I were I would make it my goal to make a game that I would review and give zero two. So how would you so that you can get the Guinness World Record for quickest failure. Well I think the point it would be a lot of copies because it's bad that because we get attention women get attention because it got zero. I'm picking up with SAM. swigging down what. He's saying. Novelty like Munib on twitter. Actually broken game generally ignore Games we get us to review it the slap slap on like marvel on the title thanks Star Wars. And you just can't let expensive license and zero game. Sounds like a really bad journey an evil Virginia's that Evil billionaire genius. And that's exactly what it's been my time doing or if it came from a studio well-known studio that we typically review games from either they can throw all their money away and with crash bandicoot literally crash like it just crash crash. That's the only way to get zero. A Contra game came out this year a new Contra Game Longtime Damon forced me to play we did play it and play. We haven't talked since looks like we're talking to each other right now but I'm actually talking to Tina Justin only Samsung even in the room. It's weird record. Santana San Spread separately. So who do we play. Cj I think to the three players top down Contra game and to be Fair Contra has had top down segments before entre three the alien wars. Yeah but it's just it wasn't didn't feel like a contra game but it was like Okay Schutte top down thing gave it a four. That's not okay okay. It would be a sick Sam but but I didn't review it giving it a sick I play enough to review withhold judgment. It was pretty bad and it's just like honor consciousness in a very sad state of affairs over Konami right now so it's been a long running beloved game series. It hadn't seen a new entering a long time Hammond Hoof. That was not what people want. Can you imagine being the artists digital the metal gear art and then being like I'm out of here and getting your game review as a three point eight or do you think contras a good candidate for getting unlike the God of war style boot like take it very seriously. Lemur cinematography version just like lean into the seriousness of the character and like introspection inspection of his past bill and bringing all sorts bill. That's a good point. It's already a knockoff of Terminator Alien. Yeah so it's like like just maybe those franchises should make a game but I know alien have some pretty good speaking of all that this is a this is a tangent retake a strange corner I I just think new term bombed at the box office new Rambo bombed New Alien bombed last year or two years ago. I just wonder if like that. That's sort of the eighties. Installed your wells. Drying up or nine hundred installs franchises for very cheap and make a game that would get scored as zero journey. The silliest Yes yes exactly yet they did blade runner sadly also later honor which I thought was a good movie credible movie I loved that movie. Okay moving we on bad games worst games. WWE K twenty which has been pending? It's been bad for a long time to have a fever and w beyond there that are like that rejected by their audience is in that bad is really really crappy. Because as we're like the heights of their franchises either Games Assira could give that a four point three really really botched. WWe This year Mitchell. It's a buggy mess though buggy mess but his game play also feels notably worse than previous years. Remember this stretchy people running around doing so. I mean if you look at it as a comedy game. It's a nine awesome. See that's the thing if I had it for you that game aside from and not knowing anything about WB. I think it gets and pleasure out of it because it was just so stupid. Able there's vibrating through the ropes simulator. You Guys Know Avalanche Studios. What do they make you mad? Max and just 'cause yeah yeah they put out a game. This year called generation zero. No one knows that I know nobody knows that but it they put out a game and we gave it a four okay. I know it's crazy. You would think Max okay which is really good and just goes but they put out this generation zero game who've pretty bad and then there's Wolfenstein Wolfenstein Wolfenstein cyber pilots we didn't that's the VR game. We actually didn't review it but it has a fifty on metacritic in there. Much of the criticism is directed at It's a very short story. underwhelming comment combat in general lack of content. So it doesn't make everybody universally puke. nope is that would be a really cool. VR game another goal of mine all those people that play VR. And they're like Nah doesn't make me motion sick. I'll make in my next game. You want the badge for that. A terrible kind of a bad year for Wolfenstein youngblood didn't make much of an impact either. I didn't play it but I wanted to play it. I still want to play. That's that's impact. Can you believe the latest leisure suit. Larry the reviewed very well. It has a fifty if lead is Larry hasn't been good or popular appealed forever and had thirty years of games. Like how do you reconcile that. Who is making it an exchanging license and buying it and making more games? I just I don't get how it happened. I think it's the original guy critters. Don't make Larry Yeah. Speaking of Terminator there was a new terminator game called Terminator Resistance. We gave it a four. Don't remember that that might not just came out wrestling okay. What I was going to share leaser shoot suit? I can't say that leisure suit. Larry how did you just do that. And a lot of the original game had very body content and and so a to ensure that no kids played it. You had to answer trivia question when you booted the game up about that. Only adults would know what was the name of Presidents Reagan. President Reagan's Blah Blah Blah. Pretty good. I'm pretty good or like what were those jokes and Shrek that you didn't get when you were a kid that would be like. Yeah well you know whose voice of Donkey and Shrek where you can watch Shrek. Shrek on the gameboy advance. That's that was top of mind can watch it. Yeah Movie Gameboy. Advance video is a thing and it was striking another movie. That was two movies. He's on one cartridge. Maybe it was worse than trek. Yeah it was clearly. Yeah you're blowing my mind right now. Blew my mind that cart yes we we absolutely solution bag. Gb and it's not a game it's the movie is on only that but there was episodes of Nick toons shows and episodes of PLO. Come on and they were like thirty bucks for two episodes. They played on the kids. Like just 'cause there's laboratories on the size of a postage stamp uh-huh uh-huh isn't that crazy. That's crazy I never knew that. Yeah Super Interesting Oh crackdown three. That might be the most one of the most high-profile a high profile games on this list. We do it overall for but we gave the multiplayer component. Oh No I'm sorry. Overall got five the multiplayer four okay for my GM. Crackdown game. No crackdown was so good to not so good Shinmun three. That finally came out the one of the worst games this year. Five point nine now so just on the cop stats cusp of okay. Yeah Mediocre I think for five point nine nine runs down mediocre

An Interview with James Rickards, Financial Forecaster and Author

"But again tonight we're talking with James records he's an author and a financial forecaster his website is James Rickards project dot com you can go there to get a lot of information about his work including all of his books he's got several to his name we're talking about after mass seven secret seven secrets of wealth preservation in the coming chaos other books that Jim is written the road to ruin the death of money the new case for gold currency wars and Jim these books that some of these books kind of all our our current commit companions to one another I think that's right the for the for the ones you mentioned JV so currency wars the death of money the road to ruin and aftermath are actually the International Monetary quartet so it's kind of volume one volume two line three vying for now don and ma'am what other books but this this quartet suit she could you have come in the box set as it were any resemblance to the four horsemen of the apocalypse is strictly intentional they they go together but what they do is they form a chronology your crown log of the of the decade following the the financial crisis now they go back in history talk about a man I would go back to Charmaine he was inventive Q. eighty on that in the a sentry a D. he switch from the goals as the summer standards we can increase the money supply this is a lot of history you know certainly through Bretton woods and they Kerr source or in the twentieth century they bring the story forward go through them for gnocchi Janet Yellen now J. pal bring a completely up to date there's a lot of the new book aftermath about that obviously the trump administration trump budget so forces so they do pull together but the US to stand on their own aftermath being the latest volume is in some ways cumulative it picks up a lot of the material in the in the early last please see basically just follows this this ten year story this road we've been on then you know you were asking earlier about the what I call the coming chaos or a new financial crisis and what's gonna check with with us going to be like so I mean we so we talk so far about the week we cover yes we had a recovery position very weak we said that the fed is not ready for the next crisis because they never got their balance sheets back to normally never got interest rates back to normal so they put out the fire a little bit two thousand eight two thousand nine but they're not ready for the next one and we talked about the debt the debt overhang as an impediment to grow so we can't grow our way out of it we have that much that you'll have three choices you can to fall well we're not gonna talk as we can print the money you can grow your way out of it but when I get in the growth we've seen that and also the debt is an impediment to growth the third way on the one I expect instant again the American way is inflation now we'll have much inflation right now and we haven't for the last ten years but it's the only way out mathematically and historically so you know get ready for it'll be that I would say it's a sad day when the central bank once inflation and they can't get it but they will keep trying and eventually get there but so then the question well what else is out there what else is on the horizon it is going to trigger prices are emerging about we're describing the first big thing and I think investors are are pretty familiar with us the so called passive investing indexing was that male about forty years ago Jack Jack Bogle invented the the index on then it basically says you can't beat the market in the stock market goes up it goes down but you know unless you're a real insider you you can't beat the market and if you try you're probably gonna buy high sell low and lose money so what you should do you should match the market put your money in the fund that just duplicates the market and go along for the ride you will be absent ounces you hang on long enough buy and hold eventually it'll go up to make money the trees are less and that's the way to go well it's a little bit I analogize this to I Miskito landing on the back of a no offense what happens when the skater lands on offense will miscues gets a good meal and they often doesn't notice as delta doesn't notice a single mosquito what happens is a million Myskina's land on the elephant well the answer is the elephant dies in other words the miscue is a parasite disagree rider one or two or even a somewhat large number can get the free ride but there comes a time when you kill the elephant we're now at that point department terms of the S. investing index funds so called exchange traded funds or ETFs are just manning and excellence of a smaller index of stocks but there is the basically the same thing all of these funds and and we're talking trillions of dollars now way over fifty percent of all the best in the stock market our free riding on home who's who's the elephant and just about all the metaphor we open as the active investor the investor comes and you know does a somewhere does this research looks upon the miles and says I'm going to buy the stock or sell that stock at center and your capital committed when you're the active investor you're committing capital taking risk you're engaged in what's called price discovery and the pass upon this free riding on you the year the often the best upon this Miskito we're getting close to the point where we have all the ski there's no elephants in other words is active investors are disappearing so what happens when there's a market correction I'm not talking about you know with the nineteen twenty nine that could happen but just as the market went down ten or fifteen percent not gather momentum what would happen well dusters panicked they call their pharmacy give me my money back but it was the best description of a mass panic I've ever heard everybody wants our money back here it just doesn't matter so everything stocks bonds whatever giving my money back when you do that the the the fund manager whoever is managing the passive they have to sell the stocks to get you your money well think about the dynamic now the market's going down at war they doing they're selling what is that makes the market go down more was that two people panic more they want the money is somewhere she get in this kind of death spiral of selling market declines now the active investor used to be the hero who would run and say okay everyone selling I'll be a buyer you know I'll stand up to this bar because I see some bargains but the active investors gone the old instead and this is going to go straight down it's gonna be a no bid and now you are talking about fifty sixty seventy percent decline Sullivan I put over weeks or months of the time we did see in nineteen twenty nine so this this idea that you can free ride on the market with an index fund it's true for the first guy has been true for decades it does work but there's a tipping point there's a inflection point where it it becomes the market there are no active investors left and you just go straight down the panic so that's that's an accident waiting to happen is this is not a warning about what's going to happen in ten years it's there to the is it could happen tomorrow not predicting it will although it could naturally the point that's just one more more more of fuel on the fire so stock markets up and down in that happens obviously that's not necessarily chaos in the economy what are we looking at it in but I guess I would consider to be a worst case scenario well when this happens everything I'm describing comes together and there's another component to it a financial warfare which we can talk more about but what happens is you know when you're in a kind of my positions are you an author your public speaker yep consulting class people love to put words in your mouth and they say you know well do Jim occurs as the world's coming to an end so everything by gold I've never said any of those things will start coming to an end Tunstall sell everything diversify your portfolio yeah I like golf has some gold your portfolio by ten percent to plan a don't you know don't go over board so there are ways to survive as to what's going to happen it's not the end of the world is not Mad Max it's not you know the comic McCarthy's novel the road which is the other world in the aftermath of a of a complete catastrophe but it is different and if you want some models certainly one would be Venezuela where you know use the supermarkets are still open but the shelves are bare and the police still in uniform but they don't do their jobs and the power grid goes on and off and the transportation network for expense you still have the and so the that's a structure but it's not working and if you want a really good example and I I read this and I said yeah this this person's god that there's a there's a book called the mandibles it's a novel it's not economics book it is it's a novel by Lionel Shriver who's an award winning author she kind of picked up on what I talked about in my first book currency wars which which is non fiction and that she quoted me and the insured or book which is very kind but she paints a picture of the United

Hollywood Dream Machines exhibit explores sci-fi vehicles used on screen

"This marketplace podcast is brought to you by the Michigan economic Development Corporation, John Rimini, founder and CEO at airspace. Experienced technology says in Michigan revolution is in the air. Find out what planet is doing to help businesses make that possible at planet m dot com. That's P. L. A. N. E T, M dot com. To solve the scourge of the car. Maybe we have to go back back to the future from American public media. This is marketplace. Tech demystifying the digital economy, I'm Jack Stewart info. Molly would. The future of causes always exciting and always just around the corner. Things like self driving cars have been five years away, for I'd say about forty years now, but there are times when pure imagination is exactly what's needed when vehicles have to be as out there as possible nearly incredible. 'cause or a big part of science fiction TV shows and movies. They're often characters themselves, and someone has to make them I went to see some of the creations of writers directors and designers at a new exhibition at the Petersen automotive museum in Los Angeles. It's called Hollywood dream machines. And there cause from Mad Max Bladerunner and the classic Star Wars amongst others. Brian Stevens is exhibition director at the museum, and he started by explaining how a car designer works with a filmmaker in the use of vehicles in Hollywood productions. There are a number of scenarios, one of, which is the need to design a car from scratch to fulfill the vision of the producers of the directors of the film, in many. Cases though. There are pre existing cars that do just that and there's no need to design a car from scratch, and when it came time to create back to the future just so happened, that this very exotic wild stainless steel bodied car existed. In fact, was very much in the public eye. Do some lawsuits at the time which which made it a perfect option for this particular use in this particular film. Doc. Are you telling me that you built a time machine? The way I see it if you're going to build a time machine into a car, why not do it from style now that we are up close, I can see. There are a lot of wires zip ties parts that look almost unfinished. Yes. Which is deliberate in this case, the producers and directors of the film didn't want something polished, they wanted something that looked like it was handmade in a garage. So you worked with designers of some of these actually put this exhibit together. How important, did they say it is to be accurate as opposed to just be entertaining when the coming up with these visions of the future. I think it's a combination of both if you're projecting fifty years in the future. I think accuracy is, is going to be difficult to achieve, regardless of what you what you propose, but they certainly do want some level of realism when you start getting into science fiction films as opposed to Pierce to pure fantasy films. You do want there to be an element of science basis, you want there to be something that seems even somewhat. Ause -able about what you're predicting. So you have kit here, for example, from Knight rider from what the voice of industry thousands microprocessor K IT for easy reference. A can't. If you prefer, do you think that, that was fully autonomous long before most of us had heard of even the concept of self driving, 'cause it's a 'cause like that an inspiration to real engineers and real designers, I think there's no question that when today's designers were children, watching these television shows in these movies that they are even potentially subconsciously gaining inspiration from what they see. And that's probably part of why we see some of the technologies that are shown in these vehicles. Eventually become real Brian Stevens, taking us on a semi nostalgic semi futuristic, look at the cause of Hollywood at the Petersen automotive museum in Los Angeles, fun facts. I learned from him in the early drafts of the back to the future. Script the time machine wasn't built into a cholera toll. It was built into refrigerator. I'm not sure I would have enjoyed the movie. Quite as much. And now for some related links. Check out the exhibition website if you want some inspiration for movies have been Joan this holiday. I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed some of them the Audi r s q concept from I robot made me want to watch that all over again. And I will be streaming the original Bladerunner as well as twenty four thousand nine to see that vision of Los Angeles with spinners in the dark and rainy skies in terms of making these sci-fi visions come true. The Atlantic has a great story with the headline flying cause a real and then not bad for the climate that describes the efforts to build a new type of electric flying machine that isn't a plane and isn't a helicopter but could fly building to building top skipping city traffic. And it's not just frustrated commuters who could benefit as sea levels rise coastal cities, like Miami, a going to have to go to ever greater lengths to mitigate the impacts of climate change. So we'll also link you to a court. Story about developers in that Florida city who are already designing buildings where rooftop observation decks can be converted into flying, taxi poets, if you didn't catch recent marketplace tech series on climate change at up, by the way, it's called how we survive in the podcasts are online to where we're going. "mad max" Discussed on The Projection Booth Podcast

"When you finally saw the full thing put together and did you see what an audience, I, I actually went to a screening and noble of the film, and my mother would, which we because she was Hokkien on seeing some and done. And she was the only person. Would stand up and scream every time I came on saying. Going and, and very embarrassing actually it was interesting. I don't think I ever got the impact off at the first time I saw it. But then I saw the couple of times a different festivals and things and I started to get the underlying impact of what the film wasn't what we had created an even. Now if I watch it house at the in Japan, but the fury road and my play Mad Max a road warrior, and then fury road just watching the gain. I, I was amazed at how timeless at film is in its way. It's, it's more relevant today than it was, when we shot it, you know, it's like the world is caught up to Mad Max. It's a little scary, just when you think of from that pretext, but it is very much like what we're going through in many different layer. Ios of what we did. So when you look at it from that perspective, you'd kind of go, wow, we created characters that would just really interesting. And they weren't just out there idiot screaming and yelling in the middle desert and killing each other. That was a whole thing on the lying this film that we never realize, and George was a master that, that's what makes him so brilliant, you know said, so we met one, I got I wish I knew what you were on when you'll making that movie 'cause I coulda used it, he just had that ability to be able to see what was going to happen for the down the line and be able to bring that in and create that, that's a whole dimension that we lived in and breathing. And you know, everybody says that's great. That's great scifi movie in its own way, you know, nothing gonna happen like that. And then, of course it does. And you like that's that's kind of. Different one of the next roles that you took on. You mentioned before was weird science where you lure general kind of very was like were you ever frayed of being typecast as this mohawk, crazy bike rider after that I actually did wanna do it took him about five months to get me to say, yes, I was doing straight directing commercials and things. And I was like, I'd had my fifteen minutes famous. I was it wasn't gonna go anywhere. And I wasn't gonna continue. So, you know, I really want wanna do it, and I really I had, you know, being that done that, you know, going to like assisted to get me to do it, which they did. And the couple of reasons, one was that it was a virtually a, send up of who was was it was like a cameo comedy version of west. Which trade me and then it had one of the best directors of kids movies on the planet was directing it. So it was like, and what the hell and I came over to do it and the questioning was not supposed to be like that. I was actually going to be very much like ways. I mean, the that went one brothers with threatening to sue and do Oakland's horrible things if they didn't do something about Carrie. So what was changed the character, very slightly, even Tansu? Why these head? Couple other things with the cost of that made him a little different, and therefore, they couldn't do anything, but he was whereas and it wasn't difficult to, to see that. But it was fun. I enjoyed it. I really did have a lot of fun doing that and strangely enough. It's, it's one of the films that I'm a, you know, everybody says, I would you must be remembered to road, worrier and commando. And it's like, yes, I am. But strangely enough. Now the millennials always remember me for weed science. It's, it's really weird that I member producer was talking to me. And he said, we will pitching you for film to the investment.

"Of the largest rivers in the world is drying up. We didn't have if you rely on outside. She she's legally. He's a pig who I have lot without it. We just went off. The Murray darling basin in southeastern Australia is a body of water larger than Ethiopia, but mismanagement an overproduction of crops such as cotton or causing it to dry up. I'm about one hundred Mehta's along the Burke, we're now there is no water coming down at a what we're saying is about a fourteen hundred kilometer stretch of river that is absolutely bone dry towns like tuba and left of vein. Devastated today. I actually been flying around cotton country in a fine, and we've seen huge amounts of your aggression. People need to be put before opportunistic crops like other farmers in the area. Have also been hit hard by the lack of water. We're very proud of being fifth-generation farmers in a stroller, but we confirm no longer, and it's not on the us. It's also sustainable era guide is on the Murray system that a collapsing now dairies people hoops applaud the food supply of Australia and the end of the food bowl for generations. They collapsing because there's no water because big hungry crops up in the northern bison. Tighten the wooded severe water shortages have also hit other countries around the world last year. Cape Town in South Africa. Became the first major city to almost run out of water. Although seventy percent of the earth's surface is covered by water less than one percent is fresh and most of that is under the ground shortages are becoming worse as the world's population grows by twenty fifty there could be more than ten billion people on the planet. Brad Pitt's 'World War Z' Sequel Shuts Down Over Budget Concerns

"A bit of news. I forgot to mention World War Z sequel dead. But apparently the Mad Max fury road. Sequel is starting to tire starting to turn a little bit. That's pretty exciting. Right. I'm disappointed about World War Z sequel. I like rewards Z a lot. So it's a bit of a bummer. The movie will doors e yeah. Yeah. I didn't like that very much. David Brad Pitt. They now have an opening to do something else. So they I think we've mentioned this before. But I liked the book World War z because it was an interesting format that I don't know if that would have worked it was actually adapted to screen, and but the movie just didn't really do it for me. I don't like fast not a fan of fast Samis outside of twenty eight days later. Interesting take fair. I love fast, these no there's scarier. That's like a slow death. Like, the slow creeping that suspense to me is more scarier, no like fast, whatever I'm just fucked. Just kill me. Like, I'm gonna die. Anyway, fat bastard. I'm going down the opening days like Lowe's ambi- like, I know I can live, but I'm gonna live bet. And that to me is worse than just a quick death. What about the zombies from? I don't know if there's. But from I am legend, those are Samis. They're kind of empires ambi-, though. Yeah. They can go in the Sunday, get burned, but they're zombie. But you least had the advantage of them. Not being able to go in the light. Yeah. I guess that's a good offense. But then again, I guess that's not really zombies. Right. I don't know. I feel like I could have been somewhat successful in the IM legend world. Put you in some sort of simulator. Put you on serenity type simulator f on that one Lert.

Says Bill de Blasio don't ask. Me what's going on the. City hall that's the post headline don't ask me what's going on in the city this is interesting though so he's trying to. Avoid, a, deposition he doesn't want to sit for this deposition on a. Legal case involving civil rights so he claims he doesn't micromanage he says his mayor I said broad goals and, objectives but while I, sometimes? Get, briefed on specific decisions I typically do not have unique knowledge on. The. Subject This is the mayor the mayor I dunno. Stuff I got briefed on stuff. And I really know it on the treadmill says I base my, approval or disagreement of the agency's. Decision on the. Information the basis decision, on the information is provided to them? So but the. Headline, is, don't ask me what's going on but in his defense here is no. No no he claims that the suit dates, back more, than twenty five, years before we took office he says just one of many that long? Predate his administration so that. Would, be an, excuse not, to want to sit for a deposition it's twenty five. Year old case but. I just. Think it's funny that the. Whole premise, is well I don't know what's going on don't ask me I'm.
