"They're thinking here because as we keep saying over and over like there is no separating corona virus from the economic recovery cannot have one without making progress on the other Lordstown Motors. The company that is building an electric pickup truck in a former GM factory in Ohio is going public company announced Monday. It was merging with a company called. Diamond. Peak Holdings. The deal also includes seventy five, million dollar investment from general. General Motors as part of a larger change of funding from institutional investors. The deal creates a pro forma implied equity value of the company at around one point, six billion dollars, and it will add six, hundred, seventy, five, million in immediate cash transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter and Lordstown will be listed on the Nasdaq under the ticker ride Lordstown recently unveiled its first model called the endurance. It's a full sized battery electric pickup aimed at commercial work fleet customers. Production is now expected to begin in the second half of twenty. Twenty twenty one at the plant in Lordstown bio that purchased from GM, last year and jared would just add that Lordstown says, it has secured something like twenty, seven, thousand orders mostly from fleet operators. Worth one point, four, billion in potential revenue, which is good news. Apparently, this company has attracted the interest of investors here, which is pretty interesting. So San, what do you know about the truck? Well, there's still a lot. We don't know that we've seen plenty of it. Fairly modern looking truck looks a little bit like Riviera, truck has. Has, fancy led lighting going along the body. There's still no real specks. There are in Wheel Electric Motors, it'll start at fifty, two, thousand, five, hundred dollars. That's before the seventy five, hundred dollar federal tax credit for vs here's what Steve Burns the company's founder and CEO said in a video accompanying the news this morning, it is the first electric full-size pickup truck to come to market It has zero missions, its all electric. It gets equivalent of seventy, five miles per gallon. So imagine a pickup truck getting seventy, five miles per gallon. And no compromises. Although, there's a pandemic people are still using public transportation and they're planning for the future over at smart. That's the suburban bus system here in metro-detroit among a slew of possible changes. One that caught my eye was allergic extension of service for the Fast Woodward bus. The line has quickly become a flagship helping drive increased ridership numbers, pre pandemic, and providing a reliable spine to what's been a moribund underfunded public. Public. Transportation System here. This new change would take the fast Woodward bus all the way from downtown Detroit to Great Lakes. Crossing Auburn Hills. Also adding stop at a Meyer out that way. There'd be two additional stops in downtown Detroit as well. Including one right out front of Comerica Park some planning and public meetings still need to take place for this to go into effect and you can find out all. All the Info on their website at smart bus dot Org. I will say I like this ambition. This kind of thinking span one could even theoretically visit Listener Bob and Auburn Hills with this which I'm excited to think about. Yeah. But let me ask you chair though, would you get on a bus right now? No, I mean, this is definitely post pandemic planning. Yeah. I mean there's people who have to. To and I get it, but I don't have to. So I'm not going to, although I saw I got a push alert from the New York Times on my phone. I think yesterday talking about why riding the subway right now during the pandemic is actually a lot less risky than you might believe and I haven't had a chance to read it. I'll put a to that in the show notes..

Endorsements for Joe Biden encourage primary wins in Michigan

"On this day of six primaries and caucuses couple of tweets we want to share with you Bret Baier of fox news pointing out that on CNN former presidential candidate Andrew Yang has endorsed Joe Biden who is now a CNN political analyst made his endorsement on the cable news networks live primary night coverage and this is from recline and ABC news across the twelve pivot counties in Michigan Obama trump counties nine are currently backing Biden that's the same number Sanders one in twenty sixteen and this is from Tim Alberta who's now living back in Michigan of course the writer of the book the American carnage he writes for politico forget about Macomb county it's not the bellwether anymore look at Livingston wealthy well educated suburban at the heart of the great realignment in the twenty sixteen the primary seventeen thousand five hundred votes cast tonight twenty seven five hundred votes cast in the in twenty sixteen a fifty percent turnout spike in slacking county so looking at some of the key he counties in Michigan to keep an eye on that from Tim Alberta and John Harwood of C. Democratic primary results: Biden projected to win Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri

"Coast CBS news projecting this evening that the former vice president Joe Biden wins the Mississippi primary the Missouri primary and also the primary in Michigan we are still waiting for still waiting for results from North Dakota where the polls closed own bonus now and a half ago or so and again we've got some big races coming up later on this evening in Idaho and Washington state were watching I want to go to the CBS news election desk right now Steven Portnoy joins us here you heard about the incidents and and and the and the difficulties they had at the polls in Michigan at least according to the US secretary of state they've got some the they they got some things to hassle out in house obviously when it comes to this sort of thing but the fact of the matter she said that you know it's a good day for young voters overall in the state but as Peter Maher noted Stephen the young voters for Bernie Sanders once again like last week just didn't get there to get him over the top well they certainly are supporting Bernie Sanders but they're not coming out in greater numbers than they did four years ago and what seems to be the case is Bernie Sanders under performing with some of the key demographics that he did so well it was a game with against Hillary Clinton where he four years ago he he won this primary eke out a victory with one and a half percent more support than Hillary Clinton but now according to the rock tabulated vote it looks like Joe Biden has a lead of something close to thirteen percentage points with fifty nine percent of the expected vote in so Joe Biden is winning in Michigan Missouri Mississippi with majorities of the vote it's a two man race and now Biden has more than fifty percent in the case of Mississippi cynical more than eighty percent of the vote and as so the challenge for Bernie Sanders going forward is is is going to be admitted to justify its continued presence in the race if most of the voters in the states are choosing the other guy now obviously a candidate can stay in it until you hit that magic number the time press mentioned earlier one thousand nine hundred ninety one delegates but if Joe Biden continues amassing the majority in each of the states and and you know there's no telling what's going to happen tonight in Washington or Idaho or North Dakota but so far the three M. contests have Biden winning most of the delegates it's going to be difficult for for Sanders to argue that he has a chance here now we're only at the halfway point but so far the momentum is squarely behind Joe Biden what can change that Sunday's debate in Phoenix it's going to be very interesting that debate will not have a studio audience it will not have a spin room it will not even have work space for reporters to write their stories all because of the corona virus and what we're seeing in our exit poll is that voters in the states where we've asked say that Joe Biden is that the man they trust most in a crisis and right now bill this country to a significant degree is facing a crisis of the coronavirus Steven Portnoy at the election desk we wanna go back to Michigan right now and welcome in Macomb county executive mark Hackel just north of Detroit to the north and east of Detroit first of all I want to ask you a little bit about so we just heard from the secretary of state there about the number of absentee ballots coming in and maybe the lack of resources to get him counted and to get people registered at the same time did you see any evidence of that in your county today yeah we have it with some of the local townships and some of the other cities right now we got all the precincts in right now but the eighties are still slow to come in and you know everyone of them that said the same thing the the the clerks working in those offices it was a tremendous amount of Evey voters assignment quite honestly some of the problems were that people have already turned them in you know and then a couple weeks ago some of the other candidates dropped off people and say you know what I want to go to school on my ballot not going to get a new belt because the candidate that I want that I did vote for dropped out so it did cause a lot of questions you know if the house to go play out the rest of the night but I gotta tell your Macomb county it is pretty clear you will not be easy the other that Biden is going to be the person prevailing Ericom county which you know is already always credited by the trump administration is kind of helping him win Michigan which of us open win the election but I think things are gonna change this time just based upon these preliminary numbers from the of the people voting at the precinct hello Sir my name is Peter Mayer I think of all the time in the past century when I was assigned to cover voters in your fine county where the where the term Reagan Democrat was invented of course of working class area went reliably for Democrats for years and then Ronald Reagan won about two thirds of the voting eighty four is it still a real bellwether place from here I think you're right I think what you know if you look back you know that the people the division during nature of Bill Clinton they voted for him Ronald Reagan same thing yeah there's a kind of a fine that they had the candy and the same thing even with the Bronco Bama people very supportive and you know he won local county but this past election twenty sixteen it wasn't that I think it was a single discontent with the party the Democratic Party and that the Canada prevailed so with Hillary Clinton and pope folks decide to stay on the order that they loved Donald Trump I think it was just like okay you know the day that he had a strong following a strong supporter Macomb county if you prevail because people decided they didn't want to vote for elderly state all you did some of the yeah I guess normally looked upon as being a blue collar worker said you know what I'm going to open this guy because I'm upset about you know the party itself but I don't see that happening this time around I think that you're gonna find is there's been people talking about how do we find a candidate that they believe could beat Donald Trump and for some reason you know people within the party are they are selecting your biting at this time saying we don't trust that Bernie is going to be make it through people will probably stay at home and not vote for him once again kind of Linda Linda support inadvertently to to Donald Trump so I don't see that that feeling of warmth that he once had he's been a struggle he being Donald Trump the president here in the compound effect tomorrow mechanicals account executive in Macomb county just outside of Detroit thanks for joining us this evening we appreciate it sounds like we'll be talking to you again in November you bet thank all right I want to go to the Sanders campaign right now kera court is embedded with the campaign and they are in Burlington Vermont tonight have you heard anything more care about Mister Sanders plans for this evening is going to speak we haven't heard anything we got off the press plane earlier this evening in in Burlington and we were told to maybe stand by that the senator might be speaking to us tonight we know that he's at home watching results and we haven't heard an update so I with every minute that ticks by it seems like it might be you coming less and less likely that we're going to hear from the center tonight especially if these results continue to comment and not look so good for the senator so we're hoping we're hoping to hear from him tomorrow but right now we're not expecting to hear from him tonight all rights are C. B. S. server K. campaign reporter cara corner who's with the Bernie Sanders campaign again supposed to be in Cleveland tonight but home in Burlington Vermont Joe Biden is in Philadelphia tonight he was also supposed to be in Cleveland but no election rallies tonight because of the concerns about the corona virus will have more on this coming up in just a bit but they're just getting word that and Yang former presidential candidate on the democratic side is says that he is endorsing Joe Biden after he kind of waited a week to see how things played out we're gonna hear a little bit of that coming up in just a little bit in the meantime thank you for joining us democratic primary coverage continues from

"The pictures you know we have a ride. Along one of our reporters was out there. He got very brief ride in the new mock E. and You know you can see that. It's all very forward looking very futuristic futuristic. I think it looks cool. Yes some of the feedback online that I have seen include that you know. It's it's definitely different. Look to a degree for for the Mustang brand to not be just A. It's not just a car per se. It's more of a crossover right. Yes so that is probably like the big point of controversy for this. Is that Ford. Put the Mustang name. this crossover vehicle I actually don't think the electric occasion part of it is all that that controversial. I think it's frankly a natural step to make the Mustang Electric. I think we're seeing. The future is going to go electric in most segments concern. I think frankly you know I think making a electric mustangs brilliant move you got a ton of performance and power out of that You sort of future proof it if you will in some ways I think some of the controversies come. From the fact that this is more of a crossover a crossover if you look at it it's You know got that sort of silhouette the wet The stance is a little bit different than Traditional sports cars sports coupe like the Mustang But it also has a lot of mustangs styling cues and you know especially if you look at the the headlights. The Hood. The tail lights So I think I think basically what they're trying to do is take their strongest name. which is Mustang? It's like conic it's been around for decades really resonates with consumers with Buddhist and put it on Perhaps one of the most important vehicles going forward which is an all electric Crossover so I think they're just going all in on this It's risky but it's a very aggressive play and it could really pay off. Do you have any kind of like background on the infrastructure for these kinds of things. Because I know that there's like charging that that works in that tends to be a concern for folks of like. Where are they going to top off this thing? I know there's varieties on on range but it is kind of. I believe it is comparable comparable to the test as far as rain. But what about access to charging basically topping this thing up yeah So there's a wide variety of ranges actually all the way from two hundred ten miles to three hundred to even more than that depending on what size You know battery options you take or if you want all wheel drive rear wheel drive so once you kind of figure that out then you would sort of sketch out. How are we going to use this? You know your Mustang Machi And there's two different kinds of chargers as you can get. There's a home charter. which would you know? Certainly if you're going to buy a vehicle like this. You probably very seriously look at getting a home charger. I I think that's a very logical practical thing to do. There's also a mobile charger. which you could also purchase so that would sort of maybe alleviate some some of the Ranging Ziobro a little bit if you could get somewhere where you can set up your mobile charger And you know a lot of that is to come this vehicle isn't going to be You know available until late twenty twenty so I think there's going to be a lot more As we get closer to the launch as far far as Ford plans for it infrastructure and really just setting up the rule out of the Machi and just first impressions for you. Then how do you think this is going to stand up in in the big electric car. Debate is is something that Ford really should be able to hang their hat on. Yeah I think so. I think As far as making this watcher car I think this is a really strong move. I think if you kind of look at the landscape and say hey. The future is electric and consumers consumers like crossovers. What's our best name Mustang? Okay let's roll with it. I mean to be this is taking all of your strongest elements and looking at the competitive appealed. It just going for it. I think I think that's a great play I think Ford is probably going to run into is running into some distance from its hardcore hardcore Mustang Bass reading some comments on our site and you know some of the tone from some of the other maybe more enthusiast sites. There's a little bit of. I'd say mental calibration calibration. is they try to sort of bigger these new elements of the Mustang But I do think once you get past that and I think that's actually very like vocal vocal minority. Perhaps if car people. I think once you get past that having electric Mustang is a very compelling thing it's a sort of thing that if this was just called like something generic like the Ford you know the Ford something like a green kind of ten for the name before the week you in order to steal like a Nissan name or something like that. It might struggle to cut through the clutter but now you've got a name universally known by all kinds of consumers and you had the element of what Trysofi and you make it Fairly you know practical. It's a crossover that's going to give people who are maybe crushed shopping Tesla's or some of the other electric offerings from Jaguar. And Audi and take a look at this 'cause this could fit their needs. And then you like I said You roll in the Mustang Element and people are like. Oh that's cool. It's not just generic electric crossover. It's also a Mustang so I think it's a risky play but I think the payoff is is very. Hi potentially very high. Well Greg. Grade schools ban Uber Eats, GrubHub deliveries during school day

"Of packing lunches, many high school students now pack their cell phones ordering food delivered to their school with apps liked grub hub door dash and Uber eats the deliveries have become so frequent and disruptive that many schools have banned them. Pat Watson is the principal at west Bloomfield high school in west Bloomfield Township Michigan he said, quote, it was getting to the point where you'd have eight ten fifteen deliveries a day. It's a building policy. You can't have food delivered during the school day unquote, other schools have done the same thing. School officials have addressed the issue in states from California to Florida. Diane Blaine is spokeswoman for Chippewa valley schools in Macomb County Michigan which is north of Detroit. She said, quote, we view it as a safety concern. Having strangers and people that we don't know coming to our buildings with delivery bags. We just don't allow it. I'm quote, Blaine said, the district's Dakota high school band the practice about three years ago, and it's other high school Chippewa valley followed suit some schools have policies explicitly prohibiting it others frown on it. But don't formally van. It all them say the practice has exploded with cell phone use. And the proliferation of delivery services, high school students are the only ones who order food deliveries to school. That's according to Jeff huger assistant manager of the jets pizza about a mile north of west Bloomfield high. He said that some students in elementary school. We'll have pizza delivered for lunch. I mean, it sure beats a carton of milk in some cafeteria pizza. Huger said, quote, the parents will call and say my kids lunches at noon, can you deliver a pizza to the office and maybe throw in a bottle of water, unquote. Looser good. They're staying hydrated. Parents typically pay what the credit card or through the jets app on their phone. The delivery driver will bring plates. Napkins if requested. Jets charges three dollars and fifty cents for delivery compared with four dollars for grub hub. He said that his pizza places across the street from a middle school and a prep school. In addition to two nearby elementary schools. He said all of them are good for business. He also mentioned that teachers are known to order pie for lunches. Well, that's what I was going to say is going to say the ban on this seems like it would hurt teachers more than students whose poor teachers. They just want to have pizza delivered to their teachers lounge. But now now students of even ruined that for them. Poor things they work really hard to wouldn't it be nice for them to just be able to do not have to run out and drive somewhere. Go through the drive thru not all the schools in the same area addressed the delivery issue in the same manner. The Plymouth canton school district just northeast of an Arbor Michigan, which operates three high schools in one location does not have a formal policy about food deliveries. But the building procedures don't allow it said spokesman, Nick, Brandon he said that the main reason for the ban of school safety, but there are other reasons as well Brennan said quote, the second that food enters the school office. It becomes the school offices responsibility, unquote. He added that it created concerns of food safety foodborne illnesses and allergic reactions. He said, quote, it's also overclouded issue for office personnel. If they're having to manage multiple food orders at a given lunchtime. With all the other things they have to be responsible for that's a concern as well on quilt. Brandon said that the district works hard to provide healthy good tasting food and. Cafeterias and students are always free to Brown bag it the principal at west Bloomfield said deliveries aren't always on time. Tardy deliveries made for tardy students. Watson said, quote, it's supposed to be here at twelve and my lunches done at twelve thirty now shows up at twelve thirty five so no I haven't gotten to class. But now, I've got my Panara, and I go to class to eat in their unquote Watson's at teachers object to kids eating class. But the students would complain it wasn't their fault that the delivery was late Watson also has heard plenty of excuses for why an order was placed. What's instead quilt kids say, oh, my mom forgot to put money on my lunch account. He said that one student claimed a cousin ordered it for him not knowing it wasn't allowed Watson said that claims seemed doubtful when the delivery driver knew the student's name. The school does allow deliveries to school after class end so students staying after school for a sport or other extracurricular activity can order all they want. He said what's said, quote, when I was in high school, we knew to pack two lunches one for lunch and one for after school, I guess the new normal as you whip out your cell phone and order some food unquote cell phones have become so pervasive in high schools that Watson has used them to his own advantage. When he wanted to remind kids of the no food orders during school hours policy. He sent it out in a tweet just goes to show that if your parents really love you they'd take you to Pinera the night before. Give you
