"Great ronald jones who fumbled and gave the ball the other team and now bruce arians is saying that he's going to start in two so we'll see how that goes yeah. We got a good montage of evan. Talking shit about ronald jones on podcast from about a month ago. That was good all right last. Nfc team watching football team. Unfortunately i think they were gonna win the game but then ryan fitzpatrick goes down with a hip issue. He's gonna miss a big chunk of time. Taylor heinecke is in tell people a little bit about terror. We have some tape. We have bunch of tape on taylor. He's nfl stars. Before i had that playoff start against tampa last and actually played really really. Well what do you say about heineke going forward. How relates to maclaurin logan and all these guys and he can run. He's scrambler in that playoff game. You know he fed cam sims tim. Sims had over one hundred yards in that playoff. Game taylor heineke He's now made three appearances for the twenty twenty and twenty twenty one. I washington football team his why. Pa is like is over seven I mean he's a he's a capable backup. And so i i think that terror maclaurin i think that they should be downgraded a little bit but i think that they can still stay afloat. I think he's good enough. To keep you know. Logan thomas in the top fifteen top twelve tight end range and mkhori as more like a wide receiver to three as opposed to the potential wide receiver. One that we drafted him as diani brown played a time. I mean he was. Yeah clear number. Two receiver for washington and. I know he didn't do anything. But i mean he's he's going to be out there a lot. He significantly out snapped adam home fruits. Oh yeah cam simply ran one route in the game. Yami was out there on every single snap last thing. I'll say about washington football team as expected yet gibson lawson passed on you jedi kisses but fifty five please. Washington ran into and keeps in touch on twenty three of them. Like when he's out there he is getting fed in both the run and the pass game. So it's still really optimistic on antonio gibson are we still all on each. Nfc team will be back on the next episode with the afc team by team. Podcast for pre shoot for evan. I'm adam good luck everybody..

"Terry maclaurin and irv smith clyde ever dealer damian harris terry mclernon irv smith. How do you feel about love terry. Mclaren that's easily. My favorite of jamie's breakouts and i don't like i think there was a point. Where jamie might have had terry maclaurin top five and didn't even hate it that much. There were the point where. I think where i had him top seven. He has been really good with mostly miserable. Quarterback play nine point zero yards per target over two hundred twenty seven targets from bad quarterbacks. He already basically had his breakout last year. In my opinion one hundred and thirty four targets and fifteen games eighty seven catches eleven hundred eighteen yards but it was disguised by the fact that he had some injury problems and he always scored four touchdowns on one hundred thirty four targets the year before he scored seven times. Ninety-three targets thank..

"When you're on the clock. I get that. Like i have allen robinson as my highest ranked guy here and i think that i would probably be willing to draft him but i want to. Draft terry mcgowan because of the upside I think that the that he is the riskiest of the three i. I'm gonna keep keenan allen here. Just keep the safe. I'm to keep well. It's it's about quarterback as well. It's about the knowledge that i have of. Who's leading that offense throughout the year loved the offensive line improvements. I was watching some camp video of justin. Herbert that was getting me hot and bothered. I mean that kid is so talented with mclaren the hairs back to think. Yeah goodness samson situation there. The shoe dropped after that after the airdrop the shoe dropped But tear maclaurin offers a lot of upside like jason said. And you haven't seen a fantasy finish there yet you've seen stretches where if you map it out over the year he would be there no question but you don't right now. I don't know if you guys talked about it on the saturday show. I mean washington said that there. It's an open. Competition between heineke and fitzpatrick feels like very much a wink. Wink opened comp. Even if it's not ryan fitzpatrick hasn't played a complete season in a long long time through and then with chicago there will be a transition or there will be a rookie quarterback so with that knowledge. If i'm the best guarantee is we will go at saw. Keep keenan on. I'll definitely trade terry maclaurin because the hype is x. extensive appropriately. and then. i'll cut ellen. Robinson i i love all three of these players. I'm gonna keep alan robinson Because even though his quarterback play is a little bit questionable..
Receivers to Target in the Late Rounds of your Dynasty Rookie Draft - burst 04
"Turnaround. Flip them for profit moving onto the next guy who ran five picks later in the nineteenth pick of the guy that i am super high on. Its the army brown from north carolina. Going to the washington football team and let me tell you why i like damn brown. The rebound has six one. One hundred eighty nine pounds of has pretty ideal size for receiver but and north carolina. he had to terrific seasons. He's past two seasons in twenty twenty. He had fifty five catches for one thousand ninety nine yards and the twenty nine thousand nine hundred fifty one catches for one thousand three hundred four forty nine yards and oh by the way throughout. He had twelve touchdowns in his sophomore year in towns in his junior. This is pretty impressive. Because i'm not sure if the North carolina has had great quarterback play particularly either. It is not. I'm not super familiar with a north carolina. The program but how how how should be the number one pick probably next year so they. They've had a pretty good quarterback he's other classmate that's right. I did hear about how so okay. They did have how but anyway. A guy putting up static this two years as Sophomore and junior. And he's doing this by the way with fifty one and fifth in fifty five receptions so it's not like he's getting a ton of targets he's maximizing opportunities putting up staff that are up there with with the top of the top and so this is a guy that You could argue count. Wise in what he's produced typically makes him atop success in receiver in this class. But oh by the way. He's fallen into the third round. Now the draft and he's actually ending up in a landing spot better than the guys that went before him because the washington football team they have terry maclaurin but do they have a number two receiver. No the don't cam. Sims is not going to cut it. Let's let's be real here for second. Kempson is not going to cut this guy who's going to step in right away and be the number two receiver so if anything. I can see this guy having a top five season as far as rookie receivers this this upcoming season because there is such an immediate chance for brown shine. I loved the town. And i love the situation. So both those things matchup for me and ryan patrick in their offense while just knowing ryan fitzpatrick. He's a guy who likes to sling the ball He's not free for big throws and yami brown is a guy that could be a target while so this is an the situation to really like especially in the strip term but i think his talent overall what is what will help him. Secure the number two role for washington in the long term. You did forget. Courtesy meals with their in the offseason. Curtis samuel okay. yes courtesy. You might be the number two receiver. But i'm not. I'm not saying that kurdistan wills a lot in geometry breath. If i think those are two big comparable players and the down brown can still end up. Overtaken curtis samuel for the number two role because it's not like samuels established in washington. Anyway he's gonna they're gonna walk on equal playing fields if anything. Yeah to co plank. Roads honestly yeah. So i mean i you know how high was on diane. Be brian i think i was probably than anybody else in the industry pre-draft in you know the fact that he didn't get a super high draft capital. I think a lot of people would just never really caught up to where the hype was going was headed towards So now he kinda ended up back back to where he's at. I know you said you saw them. You know at the beginning of the third round in. I'm in motion address. At pretty much where i got him every draft. You know there was two guys. I walked away with almost in every draft i. It was karen's marshall because if he was following the second taking them and diani bryant third. I was taking him no matter what and wasn't trained. Now those picks and i wasn't moving up or down at sticking with it. So i ended up with jami round maybe beating my number one player at of all my dynasty leaks. So you know. I'm i'm really high. I think there's a lot of potential to proprietor curse. Amiel i do think we'll we'll out touch him for sure year. One you know. But terry mccaren is another guy you know. He did not have first round draft capital as a rookie. So he's only got a couple of years left before they have to really choose on renewing his contract whether they wanna pay him if they view him to be a. You know an elite receiver that they wanna pay top ten top twenty money. They might just let him walk. You know and if that's the case the brown is almost a cologne terry records. You know he. He averaged over twenty yards a catch with a lot of volume in college. Which is one of. it's got to be one. The highest of abo scouted and You know the way he wins is he. Wins deep wins. He's a burner he gets out feel and i think there's actually a lot of room for him to grow because didn't see him run a really complex route tree and north carolina. They didn't ask them to you. Know and as kirsten says you know why why would the team tell him to do something different and teach them other rouse when when he consistently wins for twenty on the field every time you know. They don't need them to do that but an nfl. He probably has higher upside now because he can still learn. The trees like we saw with decay metcalf in some other like a jay brown. You know the same knock on metcalf was he. He only ran Slants down the in the Mississippi offense coming out of college and look how that turned out you know now. He's one of the better route runners in the entire league to mix with the athletes athletic ability. So i really liked the army brown. And i think that You know if you're getting him in the late second and early dirty of your rookie drafts. I think you're you're walking away with one of their players in the draft. One of the guys that we both really like. You can expect for geometry brown to produce put up some big

"Terry maclaurin has just been great third round pick ohio state. He has been he is over delivered. He probably didn't see it that way but he's been unbelievable a second year in the nfl and He is now led. The washington almost had ninety catches twelve hundred yards one hundred thirty four targets. He is a number one receiver in the nfl and they got him in the third round. Now's of work that way. But he's a pro bowl level guy terry. Maclaurin has now joining us live from ohio state. Buckeye a pretty good mood. He's in ohio state buckeye. And first of all you've been great and not everybody is great. This is a hard league. When did you know i practice. You got into the nfl you thought. Hey i'm pretty good to work out for me. When did you know Everything happened so fast once. I got here I was getting search team grabs little bit. I was doing special teams out. My head was kind of spinning But when i got in. 'cause i didn't play i didn't play special i didn't play In the preseason so when we first game was against philli at silly and sars target. I was like okay. I can do this. And then i scored that long touchdown from case keenum yup and then i hang in here after that it was It was fun though. So i was forced to come into a situation where i can compete for the job. Early he listened. Alex smith is an amazing story. I know alex you're starting to be a star. He's now going to be leaving soon. What do you take from alex. What does he teach you. What is it like to be around a guy that had seventeen surgeries in one year. His leg yeah The moments not too big for alex His poise no matter what he's been through from his seventeen surgeries to the ups and downs of the season To be in hurt and having to be called upon to to help us get into the playoffs. I mean no moment is to adverse for him and You know he doesn't make about him at the end of the day. It's always about the team. It's always about how he can help us. Put us in the situation to be successful and you always want to go to battle forgot like that. I mean i've had some things. I've been dealing with this year but seeing all the things that he's been deal with it pales in comparison so i'm glad he's on our team in You know. I don't know how much longer he has claimed. But the number. One thing i've learned from him is you can. You can come overcome any situation as long as you put your mind to it in one phrase. He says every time we go out to the field is just live and there was a time where he didn't know if he was going to be able to live or not so..

"Long enough marvin jones. Same thing the andre swift. I'm sure is perfectly up to speed with everything. It's tough match-up for him but you can't get away from him he's better. Pr the non pr like. Start mama gordon over. Here i would start. Melvin gordon over swift. Mpr you wouldn't pr. no. I'm not there yet. But you've got to consider it that it could get pretty sideways for swift. I mean what am i miss. Melvin gordon. he's not coaching he. Well he might catch. It's not a ton. he's not gonna have as many receiving yards. The andre swift most likely but i think he's going to have a lot more carries he might have eight more carries then swift. He's certainly not fighting with anyone for goal line work which could be a problem for swift and you just go back to the first four games of the season and he was really good job. Lindsay only played in about half one. Half of one of them was bad against one team and who was the box he was really good and all the other games but all right. I guess i'm going to be like super high. Melvin gordon. i'm not gonna have them ring for part. But i just think there's a little safer okay. Henry ruggs off the reserve covid list. So that is nice. He will play. And he will have cash pass from. Derek carr terry maclaurin terry maclaurin markets. Brown both missed practice. Davor we starting to get a little worried about their availability. I'm not getting worried about it. They've been limited or maybe in some cases out of practice in the case of maclaurin limited lately anyway so we'll see if this is just like maintenance forearm and they get one practice before the game or not markey's bronze a little bit of a different story. Hopefully he's all right. Carl rudolph is going to be out this week. Friday game today. Game at new orleans so with rudolf outlets one last word on earth smith jamie. I wouldn't trust them. I mean he's he's in that Desperation play a tight in the saints. That obviously really good against defending the position to give up a touchdown jobs galaxy. But i don't know if you can factor that in. I believe it's the first touchdown since week. Seven so tough match-up. He's you know his big games come on four targets so you can't really bank on that that certainly being a a consistent producer so Like i had smith in the semifinals and just to give an example like the titan. I'm currently using in one final I think matters a higher ceiling this week against jacksonville. Then smith does against the saints. I believe that. Npr and i kind of believe in a non pr to and irv smith. I can't remember exactly what happened last week. But in the game he made some type of mistake. And all of a sudden tyler. Conkland started getting more playing time and caughlin even had a screen pass that he caught and ran for a touchdown. I'm wondering if caughlin is real sneaky and dfs okay. Yeah i mean it's a. It's a single game slate. So save some money trae want smith is out but marquis callaway could return this week for game play. Two hundred dollars on draftkings unbelievable. He's not that cheap on fan duel. Okay marquis calloway. And james conner practice in full so expect him to go. The last three games will preview. Today are the also practicing. Oh great good. Good good giants ravens denver. Yes denver chargers the The colts are going to get revenge on him. For all those drops and buffalo new england..

"Barber. Waylon that he caught a will. That was no okay ball And then a good timing. Throw to logan thomas on a crossing route like not a he also threw flat to simms late on a third lung overly impressive with great play there. Tell me about the threat and tell me yet because the third and goal is what. I want to hear you describe. You want to start with that. No you start with wherever you want. I just. I want you to forget about the third and goal because i've watched a little stove. The third and goal okay. The third goal is a two-man side. He's got terry maclaurin running across her stevenson's sims on that side in a stack set running a quick flat route. His eyes are stuck. Dead on terry maclaurin. He is staying with maclaurin no matter what he does not see. The mesh in the mesh between the two sims breaks wide. Open to the flatman light. And it's a wide open easy touchdown throw. He's drifting back in the pocket. It's poor with his eyes. He is clearly stuck on terry as the number one throw and then he does a risky ball. That could have been picked in the end zone. Right at terry you gotta be able to feel and see that and sense that match between those two you just do. I know they probably talked about within that mesh. That may maybe terry comes clean on the crossing route. But that's such an open throw in. it's different. He's working the right side of the field. I this this combination starts on the left arch with terry and he stays with terry. He starts with terry. Sims is really almost questionable. By what are you seeing. There is a bad that was a bad bad player at there. There is a play. I think we gotta go back to the opener. This year. philadelphia and. I'm doing that as we speak. Because i know he is made this throw in the red zone before where he's calm and he's worked his way across the his reads and found the wide open guy and i wanna say it was in week one against philadelphia in To logan thomas it was one it was early. I'm looking for it right now. But he's made that throw before coolly. He has made the progressions and made that throw in the red zone before. I am absolutely sure of it. And for whatever reason it's not even close for him to even look at it this time which has to bother anybody there. I'm pulling up. Let's see if if this is the play that i remember Or not It's you're pulling it up. The thing about the sims plays you can talk about guys not eating reps and not playing in practice and stuff. But this is one. You want a quarterback to just see. I know you want anybody to come in and go. Oh shit. he's wide open. He started with that side. He should have easily felt and sensed it. He's locked terry. Yeah it's not the eagle game. It's a game from last year. I'm not going to go look for it right now. I'm telling you. He is worked his way progression wise. Play and i got you. It's just not much of a progression that he's got to work through okay. It should have been number one. Yeah well started with terriers number one. You've got to feel that with your number one. How does that pick unfold. How does that. How does that mesh unfold. Who comes through that open. God seems as wide open. He's wide open. Get through some of the badge. You call that good scheme could red zone scheme third and goal to three to get i love crossing routes and crossing combinations with flats on third and. We're on any anything inside the five because a lot of times you do get man coverage oh god is he. Is he wide open. That's got to be one. What are they telling him in watching the film of this on monday. What happened buddy. what do you what. He's seen walking through walk me through your thought processes here early in.

"Guys that number three running back in fantasy is dominant week after week after week and evil adam has just been waiting for him to have one game one hundred total yards so he could balance touch. I ensure adequate because of his schedule. No should i have apple tamar and then chicago. Oh that's their schedule. Because i have the wrong schedule for them. I have a much better schedule. Let's hear the wrong one. Yeah i must have given them. Tennessee schedule yeah gave them tennessee schedule. I copied and pasted from ron. I gave him detroit next week. Which would have wonderful. Okay now this is a much better. It'd be good for derrick henry. Derrick henry is a negative brazilian on the worry ometer james robinson is like negative twelve. Okay eighty three yards and caught four passes. You just said zero two months and we want to know how worried are he and he might even be better with menchu. Yeah definitely is better with could've could've just said zero you. Just you could have gotten to schedule right. I that was not oakland. And then he's got san diego and then the oilers. In week seventeen. I climbed over there Because the catches are not very reliable with him. He's he got five for fifty nine. That's great to get twenty one touches but all right zero to ten for clyde edwards there. I was at like an eight coming into this week. And now i'm gonna slide it down a little bit. He's he's in that six range. I'm so worried but not as bad as it was three and a half. You're just interesting cool as a cucumber when it comes to see h yeah well. He gets the saints next week. And that's you know they've given up one hundred yards so we're running back in one straight games. So matt among and terry maclaurin all right. This is what. Let's see if i can do some quick math. A combined four catches for thirty eight yards on twelve targets in his last two games. He will face the resurgent seahawks defense next week. Terry maclaurin Now this is one that i think we could be fairly concerned about. Although i was a little optimistic that with haskins going under center went. Alex smith got hurt. That things could get good for him. But i'll say six same as they were dealer. Meaning i'm probably still gonna start maclaurin but the expectations have to be revised. Yeah i'll i'll say five I'm not sure how. Resurgent the seahawks defenses. They've played colt mccoy. And sam darnold the last two weeks It's been like four weeks but it's it's actually been four or five weeks of just lousy competition. Except for i think the rams were well they've carson winston twenty two Oh he got. He had the goddard prayer and cuyler had twenty three week before that. I was thursday night game. Yeah but yeah. Five i would. I'm more likely to bench maclaurin than i am. Chris godwin but i don't think they'll be that far apart in the rankings. Think it would be nice if they would lose a game. And i think they will next week have to throw downfield women more Top five at each position okay. We'll do this. We'll take a break and then we will go through all the games. So let's get our live scoring up there. Aaron rodgers god like seven games in a row now with twenty seven or more fantasy points. Aaron rodgers is probably. Qb one now. It's my guess. I don't know what week thing for the year for the year..

"Appreciate that especially as the guy that you know. Didn't want to create a scene for the quarterback. So i like that. And i there. Don't you think that's something to coach that you that you would go to him. You know the next day and say you know this is who you are. And that's awesome. But i just want you to know how much i appreciate it. Because i've coached players in the past that would have you know thrown a fit and it you know it's hurtful to the team for starters And not only that. It shows up on film and then the other team thinks oh. They saw that he was wide open. And they're gonna come back to that. It's just they're they're almost going to be looking for that a little bit more. S- mean that that's something that really i think it's it's a subtle thing but i think pointing it out Especially to a young player. And i think these guys that rivera's looking for to cooley. I think he's looking for you. Know mature players. He's got a bunch of when you think about it. I mean who knows. I mean we may wake up tomorrow morning and there may be you know A couple of bad reports out there. But i mean maclaurin and jon allen and it just seems like there's a lot more maturity on the team. It's almost been an emphasis year recently. I even with the young players. You are exactly right. And that's a big deal for me. If i'm if i'm coaching isaiah right. And he starts throwing his hands up like bro. You were a scout team like sixty days ago. Shut up you know. I. we're all gonna see it and so yeah. I think it's a big deal. I don't know. I wanted to point out because i went back and watched it like three or four times like. Is there any gesture at the end of that where he goes. You know frustration gesture..

"The safety stays over the top right over the top sims maclaurin. Right away is wide open on the crossing. That would have been an easy throat of a chlorof- as alex turn as alex reads out. He probably reads it wrong. But then he's progressing to sims or right and he's looking at those right wheel route his falls down if they use walking into the end zone. Walk into the end zone and alec is looking at it and he just lets it go to sims. You're like Not exactly sure why you're doing that but okay sounds good. Yeah i'm seeing this. You're right i mean i. My god did he. He missed the wheel route to throw it right into double coverage. I mean that was a near disaster. As was the one to maclaurin after the logan thomas play. No there's there's no doubt about it He had a fumbled. Snap down there. I don't know if that's the it looked like recreate kinda double clutched it. Maybe cadence singer or not. I wouldn't put that on alex unless he did something with the cadence. Good recovery though. Alex scott that right alex song that would have been that would have been a disaster I mean i was concerned for him. Jumping into ended up into the fray to recover the fumble. Those are the kinds of plays where it's like. I've got just get up. Hopefully he'll be all right It there's I don't know there's a few more things. The interception was dreadful. you know. the the interception was absolute crap. That's bad luck as well. Because i think he just thinks he's thrown up all the way and he throws her literally right to genuine smith co but the thing is is he doesn't have that much pressure on his face on that pick and he's got terry maclaurin wide open over the early right now. So if you go back and watch the interception place. I think leighton vander esch is kind of lurking around in the middle of the field when you look at it again. And i'm sure alex we'll take this too is vandross released. Huggy melena scrimmage too much. There's i think he probably saw vander esch. Which is why turned terry. Downright when he looked at it because he didn't want banderas to pick that off. I don i think a little touch and he gets it over vander esch or you can get around and rushing that situation so you know that one was that one was bad bad voluntary maclaurin on the old button. Hook backed up. They had a completion for nine yards. That place so you know good with that Fourth and one late in the game if that was a zone replay definitely should have pulled that. There's no but i. I wrote like there's no way they're putting old broken leg alex on don't read. She pulled.

"The third sex. So that was not a huge problem when i looked at it The second drive of the game. I thought he had. I thought he missed Is ahah right twice in a row. Like he threw into double coverage to terry maclaurin in right. is he just guesses. Terry's breaking deep on an hour out and right back to the middle of the field. Everyone goes with terry. That's the pass. After the logan thomas and i'm i meant i mentioned to you. I thought he was throwing into into double coverage where he really is. I mean they were playing version of to on a cover too so they had one safety covering half the field on that side and almost everyone goes with. Terry's safety goes with terry and right down the middle on the other side they had. They were playing a version of quarters. Call it quarter quarter half. There's no way that other quarter safety on the other side can get to walk in touch later. Like one or two plays later on that drive. He throws to cam sims And it's a pass interference call. It was not pass interference on well. It was called against dallas but during the play. Yeah gary mclaren's running across the field trying to kind of clear that thing out and then on the far sideline isaiah rights or any of the wheel route. The safety stays over the top right over the top sims maclaurin. Right away is wide open on the crossing. That would have been an easy throat of a chlorof- as alex.
"maclaurin" Discussed on Around the NFL
"And I remember I had a top five player overall that year and people were talking like you're crazy. He's a rookie running back that offense awful that offensive line is one of the worst in the NFL like they're going to be. So down Blah Blah. Blah. Blah take one obviously a monster rookie season wise and it's because they're like nothing else goes right sake on. It's GONNA work we're GONNA WANNA star and obviously helps it. He's insanely talented. He's one of the best running back to the NFL but even on a bad team, bad quarterback that's a struggle offensive line they figured out ways to make Saquon, Barkley, a star and so to that point. They've Johnson like when when you think about what the Texans did, the Texans had thousand yard rusher in Carla's high last year, they got production Duke Johnson. And they had one of the best wide receivers in in the game and De'andre Hopkins. And not only traded the Andre to Zona. But they. To David Johnson but they took on his contract. He can't even argue that well a salary dump like we know Hopkins wants a new deal and we to WanNa, play 'em and so. They took on. David Johnson's contract. So I guess Bill O'Brien hurt here's all the criticism. You trade a guy like the Andrea Hopkins who his beloved in the Community who obviously is a fan favorite David Johnson needs to work he. He's not GonNa win any efficiency awards but I think he is going to get as much volume as any running back in the NFL this year because they need work. And by the way, just for whatever it's worth. This is very loosey. Goosey map but. It's illustrative Duke Johnson and Carlos Hyde last year two running backs at I. Don't think are as good as David Johnson. Combined last year if you combine their production They would have been that player would have been the fifth best player in physical fitness back fantasy. Now I'm not saying David Johnson bit best running back and fantasy but I, think he gets I. Think he gets all the Carlos High Role. I think he gets a good chunk of the Duke Johnson Role And the ought to be a good player though gotTa be good player I'm not sure he's good at football and at some point that's going to show up I love a little Johnson at the at the end of my I do bring up one last guy because I know you're a Washington football team. An and that's tough. But there aren't that many that are kind of like. Today especially. Yes. Sir. Yes. Yes and I know you probably haven't had many that you've got to put on your love. Hey I can't imagine over the years from Washington maybe a little early Clinton Portis who knows but Terry Mclaren? I think's Kinda getting slept on a little bit as. Just a pure talent and what you know what you think he could be like there in terms of you talked about feeding David Johnson, the ball, how much are they gonNA feed Terry maclaurin The ball yeah. I mean I think at Tom. I always say that's fantasy success is pretty easy to to determine I think it's A. It's talent and opportunity. Right. So to your point about David Johnson I think massive opportunity we can argue about the talent but. He's GonNa have massive up Judy Tear Maclaurin I. Think we all agree both how and Opportunity I talked to a lot of the Washington coaching staff at the combine. and. They're bringing over the the Carolina offense in essence right? Scott Turner who has quarterbacks in an offense coordinator for for Carolina norv Turner Son he's the new offense coordinator of Washington and the conversation was all about that. They want Terri maclaurin to be DJ more in that offense remember. Carolina Panthers were set in pass attempts last year. Now, some of that was our defense which was brutal and they got in these shoot outs down big but make no mistake like. Scott Turner son of nor is GONNA throw like they're gonNA throw in. So who they throw into throwing the Terry mcsporran from trying to float out. Name I don't I don't Love Ron I. Don't I don't love at one. I'm just saying Dj more got one hundred, thirty five targets last year right in in Carolina and had more competition for targets than think maclaurin does this year in Washington and so and I think we're redskin I think I think Washington's team Washington defense will be better than Carolina's was last year actually don't think they'll be terrible kind become middle of pack. I think they have. A pretty good line. But still here's a guy get this last year Terry maclaurin twelve better among wide receivers and catch percentage about speculation yards for target endzone targets, and by way that wasn't an offense last year right Boecklin hide offense, right? It was happy Energy Gruden and they fire him and then Bill Callahan takes over and then they go back to run first we're GONNA establish the run. There you go. There's a club for having Silva we're GONNA. Literally like that was like that's what they were gonNA do different quarterbacks are in and out and you know they haskins his thrown behind a brutal offense of wine and it's just it's a mess and so. I'm to Haskins Believer I. Don't believe throw fifty approach downs at a high. Oh state, and then suddenly forget how to play football I. Think it was an awful situation an awful franchise in transition last year that he was thrown in through I think at least they're trying to take. At, least as a at least on the football field under Ron Rivera, it's going to be much more buttoned up Organiz ation and I'm not ready to throw in the towel yet underwent Haskins and certainly I expected to look early and often for a former college roommate teammate I should say not roommate teammate. Before we say Goodbye Matthew and thank you again for joining us. Just wanted to ask your take on Erica. Can you play the sound.

"That's a fair of of what's going on. He was a fourth round pick. I don't love that but justice ill super-duper athlete. And he's on a team. That actually will be a high powered offense. Even though we've talked about the regression that that will hit the ravens. Naturally there's still going to be one of the better offenses in the League and in front of Justice Hill. It's Mark Ingram. WHO's like fifty thousand years? Old Mardi gras exaggerated on like you did. Mitch Trubisky it again. I think you're close. I was off by like forty nine thousand. The the point like Mark Ingram is old for running back. I'm not going to bet against Mark Ingram because he keeps defying. The odds. Anger was inefficiency master though just like a volume play. Injustice sale worked his way into the rotation. He's not a big guy. So it's GonNa be a complement on a teen at scores a lot of points and Gus Edwards not currently under contract. I mean maybe Baltimore brings a back but the bus may be heading down the road somewhere else in my gus bus. I hope he gets a contract. I think he's played well enough that he should get paid doesn't just drive five out of the League. Yeah he's a good player. I bet you they bring him back. That's what that's what it had. There's some we don't know yet. He's just good enough to where they'd like him. I'm back but nobody else is gonNA come steal them. Give them a couple million dollars Baltimore. He's earned it all right. You brought up rookie wide receiver stats for no reason earlier. So this is the time to do it Twenty nineteen scene rookie. Wide receivers is a big year for rookie wide receivers You know the number of rookie wide receivers who finished in the top thirty six over the past five years ears. Let me give this to you in twenty fifteen just one then. There was in two thousand sixteen. There were three rookie wide receivers in the top thirty six than it was to last year or in two thousand eighteen was one this past year five of them. Aj Brown Terry maclaurin. deebo Samuel Decay met cafeteria Slayton all in the top thirty six and somewhat comically. I think you know you look at bad situation. And so we're not even talking about Hollywood Hollywood Brown and I think nobody doubts. Hollywood brown was relevant for fantasy. This past year it wasn't consistent fantasy was blotchy yeah it was splotch. Yeah Yeah you on your skin you might want to have a doctor check it out. Correct correct is not necessarily healthy for you right but you saw the potential. So I think we all consider Hollywood to to be in that group of rookie wide receivers this past year. That will continue to have relevance on into the future but we talked about he was in non passing offense. Aj Brown thought you. You were stuck with Mario to Terry maclaurin. WHO's your quarterback week to those? Were situated dairy Slayton. It was either. Eli Or rookie yet. You had relevance there is that let me ask you this when you go into twenty twenty and you're and we're looking at the rookie wide receiver class. which should be strong right and you look at situations? Does this your serve as a a lesson in terms of not you know underestimating estimating a player simply because of that quarterback or offense situation knowing that things do change. Aj Brown very relevant maclaurin. When he was healthy made it happen right or could this be a trap for us? Where we're we've done this ping pong thing and fantasy you go from? Oh my what rookie wide receiver to. Oh Oh no yeah. Yeah the the the twenty fourteen class kind of threw everything upside down it. We had more productive rookies at the wide receiver position but honestly if follow what we had talked about a and what we continue to talk about. Aj Brown win was he. Good the second half of the season you have. Deebo Samuel Win would see secondhand. was He good. The second half of the year even decay yet decay. Metcalf I mean so Terry maclaurin kind of the outlier and it really seems like teams missed on Terry maclaurin leading letting him drop all the way into the third round because of the dude is fast as lightning and if you hear him talk about playing the wide receiver position he is. He is a wicked smart guy. He really knows his craft and it's working on his craft. I think that was just a a miss by people unfortunately word. We don't know what it's going to happen with him because of the quarterback position Russian but to speak to he was consistently folding chair. Open like right. He would get he could park in the corner right now. Mind you dwayne. haskins would airmail that yet. Miss Him but Laura shooting every game absolutely but I mean even case keenum when he was in keenum missed him a a few times. He's he is a great a great player. Do you have a favorite of this of this town. Talent Perspective Y.. Somebody that you know you just mentioned it. The tear McLaren wants to be great right aspect. Ag Brown seems like have some stability that maybe the other guys won't have depot. He's involved in a lot of ways. Were passing volume. Doesn't equal you know. He's more of the Percy hardman. Ask talented player. You can take hand Austin and do something with them even if he's not getting a lot of targets. Do you have a favorite moving forward my favorites. Aj Brown just like other people. 'CAUSE 'cause you take his athletic profile and his stature we the he's a beast we. Yeah we kept calling on the tank for a reason because he can get open then. It's really hard to tackle him. But Terry Maclaurin has completely won me over as a from a talent perspective watching him play watching him just frequently get get open. He I think he is he should. He's probably my second favorite of this rookie class. Which I mean I'm I'm including Hollywood Brown Terry maclaurin? I think is really really awesome. Yeah Yeah I thought I. I was super impressed with them. I didn't come into the year. I think Jason gets the credit on that one. Jason Do you have anything to say J. I give him credit. Every time he's out Jason was all in on maclaurin after week one. Yeah I mean he was. Maybe that's what it was. It was he saw on the field. Thought he thought what he saw was not a mirage and He was right about you. Know really should have grabbed him in our dynasty league or even our early who's got him in there. I don't know you got him in there. I do. Who's got him in the dynasty? Hi Steve I remember in that League Alborn who is sitting here How how do you feel about the term McLaren's situation in that league? I don't WanNa talk about it. Yes fab burn. I totally forgot. Yeah he signed Terry maclaurin for something like forty forty five and it was very entertaining for us because at that point suddenly George kill was a threat to miss that next week so so he had to ensure George kibble he had no one else to drop so he had to make the very difficult situation or a decision to drop McLaren right right after repaid. Forty fab forum on the same week. You paid it right. Oh Yeah yes bottom for a dollar the next day and but I credit you because you could have gone like sunk cost fallacy there and just like I spent my Fab so I'm stuck with him and then yeah so anyway it was entertaining for us. Aj Brown you talked about. And we've talked about him in the truth episode incredible season. Everything is really heavily dependent in terms of projecting Brown on. I'm having the same quarterback in place in Tennessee. I think we trust variable if they bring Henry back those two components there look if if if it became Tom Brady or Philip rivers. For some reason. It wasn't Tannahill but Henry who were there. I would still have enough confidence in Brown to put him in in that top. Twenty range I man. You'll be really disappointing if Tom Brady winther for. Aj Brown you think so. Well it just just what the offense represents and Tom Brady's deep ball is not what it once was. No no no. And that's that's what we need Ryan. Tannehill was was dominant because he was so efficient on his deep passing of his wide receiver. Certainly helped with that. But that'd be disappointing but then we talked about. Maybe that's just catching lightning in a right. What do I say barrel? Yes I catch my lightning in a barrel right. Oh it's a lot of lightning. Yeah there's a hundred at all bottle I mean that's such. It's a small amount of lightning if you're going through all thank you. Mike all the trouble to catch electricity. Let me just say this. It's a lot of trouble it's not you ever done it from the outside. It seems easy but I'm GonNa tell you barrel or bottle. It's difficult Franklin tried with a key and I didn't know it was ridiculous you know I don't even understand that story very limited. He actually do. I actually do any of that. I have allies now. Of course I have no idea the key in the story. What is the purpose of the key? Does he holding the key. The key is is tied up on the kite. The kind is going up. It's to attract the lightning so he because he's trying to prove something about electricity. Why is it? Why is it attached to the kite so it can go up into the air? Why does that he makes something go up into the air? No the kites the key into the air that make accents. I thought you were saying the key gives it some lift. Well the the key to getting the key in the air is the kite. Kite is the key for the key and this is this happened yeah. I needed something to conduct electricity up there. Yeah can't fly but is it. Is it actually true story or is this like George. Washington cut down the shack snow. Are you telling me George Washington and did not down Cherry Tree. I'm telling you that he probably did not cut down a cherry tree. Why would you cut down a cherry tree? They'll more cherries aries data. That doesn't make sense. You're right Sherri's delicious. Yeah Now you're not eating cherries for PYRITES. We're going to get some more of this presidential history fact doc checking going on before time of year before we move out of wide receivers. We're not moving out Mike. Okay I was going on. What are your thoughts on the Keel Hairy? I don't know what really really high hopes. The only first round wide receiver taken in this year's draft went to the Patriots. It was a perfect landing. Spot missed ten weeks because of the injury he was the number one. Pick for some rookie draft. Yes because does he mean. Caused production was their athletic profile. is their landing spot as their draft capital is. They're very difficult to draw conclusions on twelve catches in the regular regular season. But that's the problem. He came in and played seven games to end the season and did basically nothing. He had the one awesome touchdown catch but that was really all he did. He was targeted a little bit in the playoffs. He certainly seems like the most talented talented option that they have outside of Julian Edelman. Who is getting older fifty thousand years old? He's he's infinite often.

The NFL's best and worst offensive arsenals: Barnwell's 32-1 ranking
"Barnwell writes these very lengthy pieces on E._S._p._N.. Dot Com and he wrote a piece that that came out early this morning ranking the N._F._L.'s. Goals offensive arsenals thirty two worst all the way to number one <hes> and basically you know he's considering how the players that the teams have will perform in twenty nineteen. He's not necessarily really just basing it off of recent <hes> recent performance. He's he's he's guessing on what you know. It will be in two thousand nineteen any says also that the as as a preface it with a lengthy the preview before he started ranking them of course in love with is that the arsenals are weighted <hes> the arsenal rankings are weighted more towards receivers than tight ends or running backs <hes> any says also the top elite level talent wins out over depth anyway the rankings start with the thirty second ranked offense of Arsenal Jacksonville Bennett's Denver Miami Seattle and then the Redskins so the redskins have the fifth worst offensive offensive arsenal in the N._F._l.. According to a bill barnwell any rights the investments Washington is made it wide receiver haven't worked out former former seahawks wide out Paul Richardson signed to a five year forty million dollar deal wasn't healthy and Seattle and cautious watches twenty passes in seven games last season former first rounder. Josh DACHSHUND hasn't developed in Washington. Just decline the fifth year option on Dachshund Jamison crowder left the jets <hes> mister relevant Trey Quinn will be as replacement Jay Gruden gruden drafted Terry maclaurin in the third round but there but is there any reason to think Washington is going to start developing whiteouts effectively. This is likely the league's worst group of starting wide receivers while that's the kind those kind the tools you wanNA put around a rookie quarterback and you know the funny thing is according to warn sharp. This is the most expensive offense in the N._F._l.. This mostly costly offense. Well take the field the N._F._l.. Because of the Investment Alex Smith and you know that is not going to write to pay off <hes> yes so I mean again another reason why you you WanNa put this on this limited offense in the hands hands of a quarterback who understands limitations in that case keenum. It's Cole McCoy too but I'm going to operate on the assumption that cultures isn't going to stay healthy so <hes> that's case keenum you don't want to <hes> experiment and test out a rookie <hes> with these with these kind of weapons <hes> especially if you're Jay Gruden and you know you have the expectation or the hope and we're assuming he does is of of having team good enough for him to remain as head coach. You know what's interesting. I was thinking about this as I was reading this early this morning. <hes> that the redskins according to Barnwell look I mean I don't know if it's the worst it's certainly among the five for six worst greg in a starting wide receiver groups and the N._F._l.. And we we know that you know in terms of offensive weapons they don't have much. I mean you have to pray. The Jordan Reed comes back plays thirteen games in his Jordan Jordan Reed again. You got to hope that Chris Thompson is a weapon out of the backfield. The dairy skies pays off as a second round pick and turns into a a guy that with Adrian Peterson is a big time back that that that <hes> Vernon Davis continues to be effective in it somebody somebody whether it's Richardson Dachshund or Harmon or maclaurin. Somebody steps up you.

"He's going to oversell them, right? He's just going to throw it stock up there and make it to rich. And then everyone's getting kind of sell it off because it got too rich, and then he'll just gradually put it down. But then on draft day. This is the moon. Hey, Mitch you like McLaren you like MacLaurin at the senior bowl. You talked about him. Well, I had them in the first round back in April, April first, April second, I had. In the first round. That's what the conversation will be. So that's that's the move. And I understand it. But I think it is. I mean, I love MacLaurin. I think he's the best special teams player in this entire draft. I think we all know that he is speed. And he's explosive. He stood out as one of the most explosive skill players at the senior bowl. He's not a first rounder Kuyper. I mean, it's almost it's your almost doing a disservice to put him in the first round. Because now all of a sudden this guy who was a fourth or fifth rounder for the whole process is good value. He's going to be. Third round. Now, that's where you've draft a player who's going to be a great special teams player and a guy who's going to be a number three number four receiver for you and less you think he's going to be a number one receiver for you or a number two receiver for you. I I don't understand how you put it in the first round. Well, I wouldn't you think you could say he was a loved them and see this like now on talking about MacLaurin negatively when I was the guy who was praising him for I call it a contradiction because then we hear love best player skills to play at the senior bowl things about them all year. Now, you got him into third fourth fifth round to me seems to take him on day to where where he bought I talked to a team thought third ran I'm with you Todd. I had heard third round. But I think the receiving group is so poor in terms of the first round or so questionable. Let's say poor questionable is the operative word there and the correct word because there's not a lot of I ran receivers. Would you agree with that? Agree. Okay. That too that you feel good about. We got a cluster of second and third Randers. It looked like they have a chance to be really good kind of like back when four or five years ago or whatever your remember year when they had probably longer than that, Jordan Mathews and Alan Robinson that group of second round receiver. So I think that's a kind of second third round group. We're going to have this year. I think Lawrence speed the fact that he produced the fact that he's versatile. The fact that he's kind of ready now guys coming out with limited experience, some of these young kids come out, and they even bet Kip sixty seven career receptions in two years of injury over the last three years that we had him very high. I don't I think that's kind of guy. I'll take a chance with now if you say, well, he's a second rounder and you'll like the old situation a wealth. We liked them in the late second one. I take him in the late. I was rocking and getting them in the late second. So again, that's what I was thinking for the colts in protecting. Now, they haven't early to, but they have another need area and get this team to a SuperBowl level. It's not just about one. One position it's two or three positions at like the film Bowers big about the draft. He hasn't done a whole heck of a lot so far in free agency. And of the moves he did make getting funchess in Houston route receiver and you get a pass rusher fine. But I think the draft is going to be pivotal to whether the colts are just a playoff team or their what they wanna be which is a legitimate Super Bowl team getting another weapon for Andrew luck is a key to whether they are going to be that kind of team or not Todd when Mel says, do you agree, and you have to say, yes, I agree..

"I think, you know, just watching Terry MacLaurin Texan with you. I think he from Ohio State. I'm not saying he's first or second round. And all I would say is going to be taught. Well, judging off the zebra technology, which I don't know why it took us this long to figure out that we could actually measure speed with pads and playing football versus running the forty yard dash in shorts. But but he had he was the fastest player on the first day of the senior bowl in terms of play speed at max speed of twenty two point two miles an hour yesterday. So he really he helped himself just just with that. He also got open vertically and kind of had two of the biggest biggest plays in the passing game yesterday. Just running by defensive backs and is talking about with Christie's before we got on the podcast. He's a great special teams player. He's at one of those aces that can do a lot of different things in special teams cover kicks and those sorts of things. So he brings that speed and attitude to the field. So I think guys like that can really help themselves. We'll we'll Harris the safety from Boston College had a really good day. You know, he's again, he's amid round type prospect, but he's big physical guy that showed instincts and better cover skills yesterday than kind of expected to see from him. So there's some players that even after just one day of already stood out. Mel told me about Zack Allen from Boston College. That's another guy. I think probably early in the season we saw maybe had first round potential. But again, there's so many pass rushers detach calls guys. Maybe there might be some just really really good players in that group that fall into rounds two and three is he kind of in that mix. Yeah. He's a guy that taught set about the seminary I think that twenty five to forty range for Alan big guy. And he's got the obviously you talk about wingspan. He's got long arms. We'll be thirty four and a half Todd for arm length for his size a productive guy hard working tough. 'cause and everything thirty four. So I mean, he's got the ability to disrupt back down passes. Do a lot of good things. He's got I think I to fit schemes different schemes in the NFL. You kick him inside. He can give you a lot. He's a great effort guy. Does he close the finish? Once he's in the NFL. Does he have that that bursts at a quarterback? We'll see combines going going to be very important for Zack, Allan. But as I player, that's the kind of guy you want on your team to be on your football team and your rotation. Great Lakes versatility great character high effort guy, I think Allen's a guy you get into the twenty five to thirty five range Todd twenty five to forty. I think that's where he comes off the board, depending depending upon the combine it goes a great job at the combine, then it becomes a guy that you think will go at twenty two to thirty two range just to answer your questions. The four guys in the top thirty two right now that that are in this game. So and the struggle is for Jim Nagy, the executive director of the senior bowl, the struggle is when you look at the top thirty two I don't want to sit here and count. But I would guess about twenty two twenty three of my top thirty two or are underclassmen one.
