"Harry vows. He'll never walk away from the royal family but had to leave a toxic environment. He has a candidate interview. With james corden on james corden's late night show and he says i it was never about walking away stepping back rather than stepping down. He toyota told host corden. I mean the thing is though with with the whole walking away thing. The royals count really do the job remotely in another country. That is in part of the commonwealth. So harry did in fact will away because there's no sort of work from home situation here he has to be within the uk or within the commonwealth and doing his job there
A Conversation With Maria Hinojosa And Lulu Garcia-Navarro
"The one and only Monday. Joins, me now welcome Lulu. It's it's such a pleasure. I. It is such a pleasure to have you on and to read this book it's called once I was you and it is based around the story. Of how you came to the United States for the first time, tell us that story. Yeah. Well, it's an interesting story. I didn't actually know it like a lot of us. We don't actually ask our parents. So how exactly did I know that you came for example, my whole family we were born in Mexico my dad MPC go of us in Mexico City and dad gets hired by the University of Chicago. He's a medical doctor dedicated to research and long story short he helps to create the cochlear implant. He was an amazing human being. May He rest in peace? So that was in Chicago and my mom, and the four of us kids I was the baby in her arms get on a plane. It's the early nineteen. Sixty's we fly from Mexico City to Dallas and change planes in Dallas, and then we're GONNA fly onto Chicago and. When I finally found out the story when I wrote raising, which is a Motherhood Memoir that I wrote like twenty years ago. You know I found out that there was this whole thing that happened at the airport and that an immigration agent was like you know saying that had some weird skin thing and you know maybe had to put me in quarantine and my mom was like Nah and then I came and I saved the no she didn't say it like this but basically, it was like me Ma Ma Ma you know. She's five feet tall by the way, but stood up and. Know had this kind of moment with immigration agent and and it was a story that I told. Kind of like saying, wow, my mom is such a cool woman like I understand where I get my powerful voice even though she's tiny, she spoke back to an immigration agent. and. Then in the writing of this book, blue is really what happens is that I really understand what was happening there. There were trying to separate you from your mother. They basically told your mom that they were GonNa, take you away and put you in quarantine quote unquote and that she was free to go with her other children but that you would have to stay behind I mean. Can you imagine like? When my mom called me in the midst of and you know Lou that I've been covering this story, the entirety, my career immigration writ. Large. And my mom calls me at the airport. I was flying from one back when we were flying around and in the midst of the height of babies being put into cages, we were hearing the voices. You know we knew this was happening. This is not. This not begin with the trump administration but anyway. Mom. Calls me and she's crying she's like is Gay It could have been me. If I'm a your she was like that was I could have been one of those moms and I swear to Lulu that. By heart dropped I was like Oh. My God. So it's not a story of like my mom. Eh, you know speaking back it's a realized now a story of trauma and that. Wouldn't have happened I think had I not written the book and had the horror of immigration policies becomes so. Crystal. Clear. So inhumane so hurtful and frankly now finally so public You. As you mentioned what brought to Chicago, which is where you grew up, but you always maintained your connection to Mexico and your roots you'd go back and forth. You came here on a green card. When did you become a citizen? I asked this simply because that transition of becoming. An American you said was difficult for you. You. You found it hard to sort of occupy these two spaces. So, it was great because in the writing of the book, I actually had to like do the time line and and then I had to go back and find my citizenship. It was a actually I had just come back from a reporting trip with Scott Simon Scott and I were down inside whether it was December of Nineteen eighty-nine Lau Offensive Little Trenton Webb the FMLN offensive the guerilla warfare was happening inside word and I went down to produce Scott. And I came back and just a few days later I took the oath. Look the reason why it was complicated was because way back then maybe now I am beginning to understand maybe it was because of that traumatic experience in Airport in Dallas I, always kind of new. Like this isn't a certain thing for you. This thing about you being able to come in and out of the United States you've done your whole life. Now. You're a woman you're a journalist you've been to Cuba. You've got you've been tool Salvador you. You know. There may be a time when they say you can't come back and I understood that and so I have to be honest as I am the memoir he was motivated in large part by fear that that my green card could be taken away and that I could not be allowed and this was before this whole conversation of like what's happening now you know this was way before it was a different time but I think I kind of I, kind of knew it. So the thing that happens when you become a citizen in this country is you have to raise your right hand and you have to swear that you will bear arms for this country. And people who are born in this country like my own kids haven't had to do that. When you have to do that you take this thing really seriously you know like the Constitution and the bill of rights and you know all like you take it really seriously, and I think that's why because the book is certainly it's about immigration, but it's also about like my. My struggle for democracy and being seen as a journalist taken seriously to be that's all a part of democracy and it just becomes I mean I was living with a green card I was I was definitely understanding my role as a participant. But when you raise that right hand, it's at a whole
What Does The Science Say
"Welcome to kids, myths and mysteries. Stores were strange and unexplained people, places and events. I'm your host Kit crumb today fringe science. Sciences defined as intellectual practical activity, encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behavior of the physical natural world through observation and experiment. Fringe Science is considered an inquiry into an established field of study and departs from mainstream theories in that field and is considered to be questionable by mainstream science. Now. Don't confuse fringe science with pseudoscience, which is defined as a belief in some person place or event that is mistakenly regarded as being based on scientific method but many categories once considered the product of pseudoscience have slipped into the category of fringe science and many fringe science categories are now consider pure science. A short list of categories considered to be a fringe science, include cryogenics reanimation, and suspended animation. Now, let's take a quick look at each of these. cryogenics is generally the practice according to Al Core cryonic center in Arizona of freezing people who need a cure for a disease or perhaps are in need of an Oregon and will be thought at some later time when there is a cure or an organ available. Now Look at the second fringe science on my list reanimation. That is usually thought to mean restoring life. Finally the third on my list suspended animation that would be closer to the cryogenics. Separately these three would be considered by science to be way out on the French but alcorn does freeze patients and that would seem to be suspended animation, and if indeed the patients brought back to life, you would have to call latte reanimation. Still Science would scoff at the concept yet in Japan Cell Nuclei and DNA were taken from a woolly mammoth that live twenty eight thousand years ago and implanted by scientists into the cells and Ogm of living. Five showed essential biological reactions needed for cell division. This could lead to the reanimation. Mammoth. From the frozen north where the woolly mammoth was the unsuspecting subject of natural cryogenics to lab in Japan where the mammoths DNA was brought from a state of suspended animation. To a reanimated state and planted into the oval ma-ma mouse I'd have to say that's cryogenic suspended animation and reanimation that have slipped from fringe science too pure science. Now, let's plunged down the list of fringe science to the much-maligned topic pre cognition. Simply precondition is considered the fore knowledge of an event. Let's take on a huge event debt even titanic in size, and that's pun intended. It's common knowledge that the titanic was the largest cruise ship of its time. It was considered unsinkable and perhaps because of that Monica unsinkable, it didn't have enough lifeboats for all the passengers when in mid April nineteen twelve on its maiden voyage, it hit an iceberg it sank taking with it over one, thousand, five, hundred passengers but fourteen years prior to the sinking author Morgan Robertson wrote a book titled Futility described the largest cruise ship in the world he named Titan in his book he described his ship as unsinkable and not carrying enough lifeboats for the passengers. When it in his book struck an iceberg in mid April over a thousand died strangely there are well over one dozen similarities between Robertson's Titan and the titanic. And remember he wrote about the Titan in eighteen ninety eight. Pre Cognition. Well, what else could it be? Moving along the list of fringe science, you'd find past life regression hypnotism Bo scoffed at by science at both used by licensed and highly educated counselors around the world although the list of practices an event that fall under the shadow of fringe science as long one I couldn't resist looking at artificial intelligence. You probably heard of IBM's corporations creation Watson. But Watson is program to teach itself in whatever endeavor it is directed. Intelligence natural kind you and I possess is not the same intelligence. Watson has watson can look at a room elementary students and evaluate. Standing Body language which students are following the teachers teachings which are confused and which are distracted. But the natural intelligence that you and I possess would not only separate the students in those three categories mentioned. We could probably figure out why those that followed the teacher could why those that didn't couldn't and what distracted the remainder.

Now I didn't I was a camper there and then moved on to be a counselor for many years after you've only been to one camp then and in. One Space Camp shore but this is the rugged, the sleep boy camp the sitting by the fire the being in a cab I wanted to sleep away camp for a weekend of fun. One weekend the thing so. It is your slept there. Did I not. No. Did you cry for them. No. Now. I had first year camp I cried so hard. Come pick me up now as circled the tears I'm like this is where I cried on the letter a couple more degrees than you'd be perfect fish. And then she never picked me up but for good reason is ended up going there and working there for many years. Isn't that a weird phenomenon when when you were little I remember the very first time that I ever stayed over a friend's house for the night and I remember thinking i WanNa be bothered by this and I totally was as a little kid I was like Oh this is so weird like I'm. Not On my stuff and I think I might have made it through the night but I was totally one of those because it was like I just want to go back to my house and being my bed with my style I got in trouble one sleep but one of the first ones and had to sleep in another room. Bye Mom, but some are. was some came is usually a good time kids love summer camp an till everybody is getting infected with the corona virus and this was a place in Georgia, which is now a good area to. For all the people who are watching the spread of covid nineteen, they say at schools and universities plan for a new AC. academically year administrators grapple with complex questions about how to keep young people save a new report about Corona virus outbreak at a sleep away camp in Georgia provides fresh reasons. For concern, the camp implemented several precautionary measures against the virus, but they did not have the campers wearing masks. Quite obviously has this at this point if you're watching Ma Ma the data and the reports, it's very obvious that the. Not Out. Go see lane. Lady. Gaga knows. And it's got some some schools thinking about the way they do things maybe even some classes being outside whenever that's possible but they said one of the big things actually was that the kids would gather around and they would all be singing and stuff. So the kids are singing all mom and all their kids spit is flying up into a tornado. And it's moving around and. Everybody's got. Everybody's got it. Nobody's supporting you either. Over. From the way I read the story it sounded like obviously, he he did give her her money back when she was gaining dollars was returned to I. Don't know she got her food but she was already threatening to she said I'm going to bring my man. Over here and make this right or whatever, and so she did that and it said he got shot in the parking lot. Does that mean he left the restaurant to? Be Confronted by this guy or there's questions there they say. The woman wait in the parking lot near Black Sedan for a few minutes and drove away returned with a white truck and a man identified as thirty seven year old Kelvin's Rodriguez Torahs who demanded that Joshua fight him a witness intervened to stop the fight. So I guess he did go outside when Rodriguez put Joshua in a headlock started choking him deputies said after the witness pulled Rodriguez off of Joshua he then went to trucking. Got A gun. He said you got two seconds before I shoot you shortly thereafter he shot Joshua and fled in the white truck while the black sedan fled the scene he had just started working at Burger King a few days. Earlier, he was rushed to the hospital where he died just senseless stupid ass violence people killing other people because of some perceived real or not lack of respect you know put your respect on me. I'm. Leaving right now. I'M GONNA get my man with his gun to get you in check here, and then somebody ends up dying somebody else. Well, you know what I that both he and her the woman who was in Burger King to begin with, and her boyfriend were probably going to be looking at some pretty significant sentences here, and we'll spend a significant portion of life behind bars all overlap your order was too slow at. Burger King and somebody disrespected you get over it man I when I see this stuff I go people don't care about their life as much as I do. This is just not worth it. It's unbelievable killed somebody for every time I order was slow. I'd had so many tier twos on the face just a whole trail skeletons behind you and you don't do that because it's not worth it. It's just not sad to see that. The first couple days on work a guy ends up getting killed in the parking lot. When we come back the next episode with Sabrina what's coming up on the next step episode? Well, you know what? Britney Spears data's. made a comment about the Free Brittany, movements and the Rock. "What's new? What's out of place? What what looks a little strange Sean your clocks a little a little slow. That's not it. That's that's not the prize. It is around here though we'll talk about that in just a moment. I will see who wins it. Everybody's got a good shot at this today. So that's coming out at one o'clock are let's talk about this video real quick because this is absolute insanity and wait till. You see this flap that goes down in a moment before we get to the footage with, you will see just moments if you're watching on the video side of things but they say that this person was screaming out, I'm a white supremacists went on a trump rant slapped a woman and then got choked bystanders all day's work, and of course, it happens in Sarasota County Florida. They said the man was identified as Nicholas Shock thirty, six years old. He was booked into Sarasota County jail and was hit with a charge of battery and disturbing the peace. It's unclear if he has an attorney Yada Yada Yada was held on six hundred and twenty dollars bond excuse me six, hundred, twenty bucks. Was The bond for this guy that's a little bit low for considering this all outbursts in that he slap somebody unless you think just slap somebody let me show you this video and this the sealant says, this is the censored version here that we're going to be watching. So here it is in Sarasota, they're outside and there's some sort of argument going on in this guy's just totally losing it Here's the footage see if we can get this gone. This is them outside. He's got no shirt on no mask. Yes. who very soon, howl his pants are. Way. And zipped and the belt is. Loose any pretty much. See the top of our list. Areas A scene. A, Tiki? Bar. Judges arguably closest. Shown Cubes. Over. Call Donald Trump I'm going anywhere. Don't they? Just. Say. Well I bill bought F.. B. Radio on the table right now. Okay. It doesn't do that I'm hoping but here comes the big moment in this whole or deal I'll call it that. Right here. Oh My. Immediately, they jump all over him. Let me show. OPTUM said there are kids here and it was as he was walking the CI was near him the hold your hands and know her and he winds back in. Latin are here it is one more time. Bam my God. Look like he went for a left hook to so they jumped on him immediately. Everybody jumps on good move on all these people do to grab him immediately. Lot Of. A lot of curse Lada lot of stuff bleeped out there at some point he says, if I heard correctly that he led his brother as d really what what's going on with this duty he's really white supremacist because he had he had Nazi tattoos and stuff on his body. Yeah. So it wasn't like he was just saying stuff and was just like throwing things out there my God he really hit that woman with a vengeance though she's okay which is excellent news after you see that but six, hundred and. Something Dollars Six hundred, twenty dollars bond seems low. Yeah. It's able to offer women stepped in front of him with her arms spread. The woman said something about there being kids they're the suspect slapped her in the face bystanders rushed the man took him down. One of them cinch to chuckled is that six hundred dollars bond six, hundred twenty to be accurate way to let us know what you think in the comments down below and man thirty, six years old get your life together dude he's been and get A. Tattoo. Yourself, up for the rest of Your Life Yeah. This guy just be somebody we should put on a list and you're not necessarily going to rehabilitate him at any point in time witness says that he threatened to kill everyone in the establishment is a as claimed to have killed. The N. Word Okay and let's look into that by the way. It's looking to see what what this guy is done if there's anything.

"It's a big. Liar. So that was cool to see this weekend and and all the coverage of that was so interesting to to watch as all these major things are going on that are distractions, but there's other stuff happening of course, in the world what was the other big story that grabbed you from this weekend from today on Fox thirty five. Well, there's a couple of things we're following today. So there was a twelve year old who was shot in Pine Hills weekend is the little boy that was in an apartment with his grandmother The grandmother says that she heard somebody outside shooting. So she got down on the ground she told him to get down on the ground. She said that I guess instead of getting onto the ground, he fell to the ground because that bullet came through the wall in him. He thankfully going to be okay. He's at an honor student in a in a good kid and grandma is is you can understand devastated and thankful that he's GonNa be okay. But once the people who did it to be to be caught. So we're working on talking to her today to get a little more about what happened and see if they're making any progress with the case and you've got the bizarre story about the Burger King. Was Rough. That was a horrible story and apparently a woman was angry because it was taking too long to get her food. So he gave her her money back and she went and got her boyfriend and the boyfriend came back and. I tried to beat up the Burger King worker and ended up police say that that point went and got a gun and they say he shot and killed the Guy Twenty two year old guy he just started working at this Burger King. Got That story, and then we've got the horrible story out of Wind Mirror. Which I'm sure you guys heard about as well where this guy was being pursued. Apparently he was they tried to pull him over cohee gifts to this neighborhood and Windermere, and he tries to steal a car out of the driveway gentlemen inside the house Mister say became outside to try to stop him at that point. He beat him to death with a baseball man then he went into the House and beat. Mr Savy Son with a baseball bat killed him, and then also beat the wife of Mr. Savvy. In the house thankfully, she survived it was a ten year old boy who ended up calling nine one one in that case then this. Abandonment drank I mean just a bizarre story. So we're following up on a lot of stuff to do they say our because that's a gated neighborhood is not I think that he ended up going into just like crash into the neighborhood or? He crashed into the gate gate. Open I think is what happened random I mean how random you got this family on their house they get everything safe and fine, and then all this God awful stuff happens and you can just imagine the weight on that little kids shoulders who heard this going downhill hiding in the closet calling nine one one for God's sake. Yeah it's truly sickening. So a lot of stuff to follow up today. So we working on some. Of those stories but but you know the positive news is that cases are coming down. We hope that's a good sign before kids head back to school on August tenth is when the kids are going to go back and Orange County but remember is just virtual for the first couple weeks. They're just going to be doing that distance thing until they can get used to it, and then they don't go back until officially I think it's the twenty first. Lots going on. That's why every single morning need to wake up with good day Orlando do and Beca- felt from Fox threes bond the whole crew over there. Keep you informed about what's going on with these storms we've got one that's now passed the site es trust me there will be more and hopefully it'll be easier to pronounce than. I was so upset when I saw the name and Mike Really Fun He is number one sounds like very um you know holzer. To say it over and over and over on. TV Is it up. The heat is on. What was funny is that like I would say and then Danielle say it Ryan, would say it. We'd all be saying differently and on my all we all need to coordinate. That because at least one of us right and then chuck that up for a winning. Well make sure you're watching good airline to every single morning. Ab Alvin. Always love talking with amy and to make sure you follow her on all the social media platforms out there and make sure you watch every morning or go to the Website Fox thirty five Orlando Dot Com. We'll be back in just a moment with more of your dispatches I think see line is found this video of this crazy ass fight were people were getting slapped and. When I didn't know the part where he said Hey all do blank right here on this table right now. Yes, and then he's on the ground has another moment of confession. But this time involving his brother it's.

Know There's some studies out there but I haven't seen anything to prove that you. End Up getting this from your eyes. I also haven't seen anything to prove that you most people get this or even a lot of people get this through surfaces. That's another thing that people are like I don't want to touch all this up. Most of the people who contract cove in nineteen don't get it from touching a surface and then touching their face there might be som- it can live on surfaces, but almost all the from you talking to A. person and you guys spitting each other's faces. That's where this comes from a big group of people. That's that's why the bars aren't issue. That's why you've got a protest everybody's shouting summer camp. We'll talk about that in a bid had this big outbreak everybody's screaming into the air at all this spin is flying around, and one of the best things you can do is actually not stare face to face with somebody right now and have any kind of long conversation. I don't know I didn't really consider it before Barajas spending in each other's faces, and that is how this stuff is being passed back and forth. Well, it's the main way. That this stuff is being passed back and forth I'm not wearing goggles dummy I. Don't know why I needed to get to the long winded version of that but begging. Shaming everybody. Yeah, we have the daily segment where we list people by first and last name in order to shame them for now. I'm wearing the neck gator things still like the one that we have out there. Oh. was talking to somebody we know who is walking around in Tampa this weekend like I just walked by with a fickle beast, cater the BANDANNA thing and I said all awesome. There's so many of those out there. Now, that's what I when I started on I could have been. One out of one thousand. So anybody could won that lottery. Well, don't you WANNA use someone you can trust that has your best interest in.
Miami - Florida Man Seen On Video Clinging To Hood Of Moving Big Rig On Turnpike
"Took a man into custody on the. Florida turnpike near Boynton beach. After he was captured on cell phone video hanging onto the hood of a Semi Truck Erik Morales said he and his girlfriend were heading north on the highway on Saturday when he witnessed the dangerous and surreal site near the Turnpike milepost eighty six, he said I see a semi tractor trailer swerving from the middle of the right lane to the left lane to the right in and out just driving crazy up on two wheels at once at one point. Look at this guy here he is there swerving. Just. Barely hanging out he smashed the windshield of this truck here that pull up next to him. The guys hanging on the hood just looking over as they drive by hey. How you doing creaming something at the people and he slamming on his brakes, he's doing everything to try to knock him off. Your guest does I think maybe he just doesn't want him to end up coming into the truck somehow and they went nine miles like this. It's like Terminator two in you know where he's like trying to kill the liquid bad guy starting. Off for a second there, you can see inside the truck. The guy is turning the wheel. Like you did when you were a kid and you sat behind him. He's going big little laugh. Big to the right trying to shake this guy off the hood according to Florida Highway Patrol. They received a call about the wild ride on Saturday about one PM and They said, they just didn't know what was going on investigators say the man seen the hood of the trump truck had gotten out of vehicle on the southbound lanes and walked onto the highway and jumped onto the front of the truck. I guess he was arrested at some point just incredible to see.

I'm very funny or something but hey let's get serious for a minute because we do. Have we have a segment coming up that I think everybody needs to hear yes You did an interview with Judy Judy what the Hell. I had to plan logistics. Yeah I never played solo before I see what you did anyway. I HAD DOC. Judy join me for an interview. We've been trying to pin her down for almost three weeks and I bet you guys can understand why she was busy. Yeah she's a Family Practitioner so obviously some of the protocols of change and how she's addressing their patients. You know with the whole landscape of everything right now so. I think it's great that you guys were able to connect actually have a discussion around it around. You know stuff that relates to low. You know lifestyle with us. Yeah and I really wanted to kind of bring her in and talk about some of the things that have been really weighing heavily on our minds book is content creators in his lifestyle people like in the economic implications of what's going on think about all these lifestyle clubs and businesses that employ people that have you know bartenders staff and people that cleaned the building and the owners themselves. Yeah I mean these are massive economic implications and I know that it's easy for some of us to sit back and go. Why didn't you close? Why aren't you socially responsible? I don't know they have a rent to pay or a mortgage to pay or people with families and dance recitals and taekwondo bills. And I mean everybody's got massive bills to pay and I don't know anybody. That twelve hundred dollars is going to solve that problem for. Yeah and these are very Strange stressful and scary times are in right now and I I. I don't know that there's a a right hansard anything. Honestly they really are but I wanted to call out to clubs That I know of these are bio means. Not The only clubs. That did this but it went out of their way and harm themselves economically to do the right thing. I yeah that's true. Did we get a message from taboo? We did? We got a message from Vicky directly at taboo she chose to close and Baltimore. Ya and they closed early. Laden really really early on March it was I think that was wise and she actually sent me a message and in the email she sent me. She said Maki. We really want the members to be our primary concern. Not Make it based on numbers. Numbers will come back members. Won't if something happens to them. Yeah that was her statement to us when we asked her why she closed so early now. Another club that closed early and again shutdown. No cleanliness standards. No you know. Here's all the crazy. Things were doing was bronze in northern California. They closed down early as well so I thought that really cool of those guys in really a big risk as a business owner. I get the ones that didn't I really do. Yeah Yeah and again. It's it's our call to make whether we go attend anything open right and which is not too. Yeah and then. You've got other clubs. That did some PRETTY INTERESTING GYRATIONS RATE. So many people champagne. When they were intending to stay open they limited their number of guests they would allow into whatever. The government's guidance was an additional hundred ten different in cleanliness standards no spoons in the buffet Crazy stuff like that to try and get things straight but you know who had the most interesting response. Was it secret? Yes secrets they bought a Butler owed of UV see lights and deployed them around the resort and in the rooms to try and clean surfaces with UV see light or UV radiation Which has been shown to be effective in killing bacteria and certain viruses? It's certain intensity levels over time but now it doesn't calaveras makes it inert Reagan. It doesn't kill it. It makes it in early. Keeps it from reproducing and I mean there's some there's different research out there to because now BBC article come out recently around around those lights. It did yesterday. This article came out. And what it said. Is they actually? Don't know if it kills cove it they don't know if it renders cove inert because there's no testing been Donna does do is hertz humans a lot TV apparently you can get a sunburn in ten minutes equivalent. Two hours of Sun Exposure. So what they say is anybody. That's using it or deploying. It should be very well trained in its use. I wonder if it's the same light bulbs that are using tanning beds. I don't know what those are. I should probably just keep my mouth shut because I don't know but I was like well. You know yeah. They're intensive L. I know When I talked to Erin she said they were just going crazy with them. All over the resorts I know secrets. Busted their ass to try and stay open for their employees and give people a safe place to go when they thought we could save as they could possibly make given the circumstances it and you know what it no small expense to their own. Show now know that probably did not run cheap. No I'm huge GERMOPHOBIC. I work from home anyways. I'm kind of our hermit when we're not like out there you know mean. Upper friends are having activities. Left up to me. I'd probably just invite people over. Never leave her house so thank God for you party in your pants. I'm coming right fun. You're hilarious today. You gotta be out of the House. I need to tell jokes to somebody. But I mean link. Things are happening across the board here like everyone's trying to gauge what this all means in the long run like Why IT W to the year? Wow the whole year. Even the November trip is cancelled. Wow which by the way brings all kinds of weirdness to our rascals trip. I think we're going to be doing some crazy stuff. We'll talk about later but holy moly why W cancelled for the year. Bliss canceled their April crews desire is closed from March thirty first to April Thirtieth. So basically starting this weekend yeah through the rest of the month. Gatt while and he does close Hito is closed literally closes the government. Jamaica's not letting any any flights in there. There's unless you are Jamaican you cannot come there. That's right you're not allowed in and you know. Initially they did the same thing as everybody else. We're going to enhance our cleaning protocols. Were going to make sure that anybody. That's exhibiting symptoms is cared for until right and that's what they did up until the last day and they still have staff on property that lives there they have Staff quarters do so not only that they kept a skeleton crew there and so we actually talked to Harry Lang Because he's front of ours and Harry told me and this is actually a quote from Harry where he said. We close Tito Saturday because Jamaica isn't allowing any incoming flights from any country. We have a skeleton staff at Hito continually cleaning airing out. All areas were also performing maintenance items. We didn't have time to or too difficult to do when guests were in house. We WANNA be ready to go day. One when travel restrictions are lifted. So these guys are going out of their way to not only make it a safe place but make it a better place they are and I think. That's wise on Harry's part to go ahead and jump in and go Kay wetter. What's on our project? List is easier to do now that the resorts empty and we can go ahead and knock this out in. This was already in the plans for this year. And maybe we can up that timeline to maximize you know this time. We're given yeah now so we obviously and we've got a lot of listeners that love desire and desirous finally in a closed down from. I bet they're going to do something very similar. But what does this really mean you know? I mean lifestyle. Travel Shutdown lifestyle clubs are shut down. I think it means that we started out. Really unprepared for this virus. We had no idea what this man. Well I think I hate to say this because I'm probably GonNa make some enemies out there but I think as Americans we live in this bubble and it was a big deal was it was a big deal worldwide. It was big deal in Asia and China. I mean we just insulated ourselves because we did not have anything directly correlating toward day to day lives. Or WE DIDN'T CORRELATE IT. Funny that you say that because when I was talking to the other night she said and that's swinging under Kate Kate and Darryl but I love those guys Said this is day. Eighty one this is a week ago. She's almost today ninety of dealing with this crap. Yeah and we're all going crazy and telling weerden dad jokes over here because we've been doing this for two weeks. Yeah he up so I mean now that it's here and it's at our front door you know life being lifestyle isn't our identity as a whole it's part of who we are what we enjoy it. Life has not stopped for US per se. We're still lucky enough to be healthy in our home with our family our kids. We're doing the best. We can very much so can't agree with you more if I tried But what I would say is the takeaway for our listeners. Here is that people poured their lives in their hearts into these businesses. And that I'm putting together a for for Mike. Asean you know. Don't hate on these businesses. Because they didn't close. I don't hate on these businesses because they closed last you know in the rear view mirror. It's easy to see what happens. Don't hate on somebody today for what they didn't do yesterday if they didn't know either. So try to you know. Think about these people in these businesses. These bartenders these employees. Those were the people they were thinking about. None necessarily their bottom line. I know some of these owners. Yeah and you know just to put it out there you know. I'm not trying to tell anybody what to do. But something I thought of what we were sitting here in. You offered to do this with some of the people that you provide services to you. Whether that's you know. Get your haircut or or whatever I I went on my list of people that are usually go out and and ask for them to provide me a service and I started pre tipping them. Because it's money and plan to spend anyways and it's safer for us to socially distance even though well now it's In some counties around us mandatory. Yeah right so I went ahead and Ben Mode Padden palled whatever was planning to spend to ensure that you know they have some sort of stability as it relates to their customer base in their lives and I hope I'm not the only one doing for them because I'd like to see them get through this as well and be able to go back to the businesses they they have established and pell new payment service brought to you by Mallory casual swinger. I said Penn pound I met pay pal too many Margaritas. I am completely sober. I'm.

That's what I meant to say is was the holderness family songs for social distancing and they're the guys that did the Christmas jammies that's right. Yeah I mean know this medley of songs. It's a lot of different songs that he did in. His voice has gotten better. He was always good. Yeah and better since they started doing stuff and I like this from a social commentary perspective. I feel like they're really kind of taking song that everybody knows and pointing out something that we all actually do well and it's a it's a more fun way to tell people to wash your hands instead of the news every five minutes. Wash your hands. You know I love it so no you actually can so probably shouldn't joke about death. Bad bad casual. Yes so the next one up I I think I get to pick this one right. Yes all right for me to you. We're going the corner bouncing his speed stand. Oh we're staying inside inside now. I'm not gonNA say it again. This is the thing I love about. These parodies is it's kind of. I mean Yeah I had social.
Iditarod: The Last Great Race on Earth
"We decided that we would cover sled dog races most notably the editor. Odd in Alaska. Now some people are going to say what the heck this is car stuff stuff right but if you remember car stuff for the past we have always covered just about any form of transportation just about everything really funny thing is that can can even be spun off into other things like I remember yesterday. We we've even done like the Pinewood Derby Cars Derby races everything swims or drives exactly. Yeah I mean every form of transportation and I think this is the perfect time of year to talk about. You know something like this. You know some some way of getting around that maybe not everybody's familiar with but it is really really fascinating. I mean when you dig into it and how into You know the sleds these people get into the dog teams. Of course they get Just the whole lifestyle that goes along with us the history of it. It's all very rich. Isn't it yeah absolutely. It's also one of those races one of those events that takes us to the limits of what our bodies can like endure and it takes us to the limits of what we call civilization. You're very much in the frontier. Have have either of you ever been to Alaska. I have you have you okay. Where'd you go? Well I'll tell you it's not the wilderness experience that you might think I took an Alaskan asking crews many years ago this is probably seven years ago. That's right. Yeah no I remember did talk about this and and it goes to the usual ports. It was a celebrity brand and crews I am. We're not getting paid. Don't worry that's that celebrity brand crews so that tells you the ports that we went to and I I can't remember all of them but it was like catch a can Yeah she i. I can't even skagway was one. I know because I'll tell you this. When we went to Skagway we go a little further north to but skagway and one of the excursions that you could take and we did? Do this one was to go to dog sled training camp and I did that weight and we talked about that and it was fascinating. It was a you know A. I don't know maybe a forty five minute or an hour bus ride to get to this thing. You're seeing things like Bald Eagles on the way and you know it's just pristine beautiful Alaskan countryside recital Ma- ma- little bonus you know trees and things like that and it wasn't like a blizzard or anything like that it was. It was their off-season so they're in training camp rape And you he got the opportunity to go and sit in a training dog sled and have them haul you for one mile trek around this mountain course that they have maybe should I hold onto this for later at. You ought to talk about it right now. It's pretty quick. Hey lay it on so at the time if you remember when I got back from this I was so fired up about this. Because it's almost like if you can picture a golf cart like an elongated golf cart on wheels. Obviously it's not on skis and has has a kind of a a runner in front like a A bump bump guard maybe or something like that it holds six people sitting there. Seats can built into this thing. It's an aluminum frame. I believe or or metal frame and then the musher would stand on the back and they have a dog team in front of you. That's polling and they pull in this mountainous rocky road right and I sit in this cart with you know all these other tourists from the the boat were not small people in it were adults. My daughter is with the shoe small but Everybody else's adults even even the Musher so seven people when those dogs took off. I mean it's slammed me back in the seat it was. It was a forceful take off. And they pulled and pulled and pulled and you thought they were never never gonNa stop and and the funny thing is like these dogs were. I mean they jacked about pulling that sled they loved and and you know there's no way there's there's no you know there's a there's gotta be cruel in some way which we'll get to that because there are people that think that right you see these dogs they are at. I know it's hard to believe we've but they're genuinely excited about pulling that sled and I think it's it's I did. I didn't understand it until I was there. And felt it in person sought in person witnessed all this and it was. It was really cool day. It was hundred bucks at the time. It's more now to do this excursion But it was so worth it. It was so much it's fun and just A A real eye opening experience gave you a little history gave you some of the Unique and stand on a real an actual dog sleds that they had retired. You know wouldn't one and check that out it was really cool. All the parts of it and It just it gave you a greater appreciation for what the sport is about the history of it. The you know the The truth behind it really right. Yeah this is this is the thing so I just went to Alaska earlier this year for the first time in my life I was there for about ten days. I wasn't true for out in the wilderness but I was captivated by How close to the wild people are like does even bigger like the the biggest city in Alaska is still going to have a moose that run the town Mussa just huge? I would not be surprised if there's a Moose Moose in downtown anchorage that has like a mortgage business or something you know so I was. I was amazed by how close while we are in. This even goes into the rules of the idea rod dot which will will discuss in a little bit. Let's first Separate two important things here. Although the race is often called the Karadzic right there is it goes on a route for the majority of the time that follows a trail the idea rod trail which is the different thing. And it's it's very old. It was used for centuries before the first Europeans arrived to use it and and the first people who identified and use this trail from you know from the European side of the Ocean we're rushing for traders way back in the eighteen. Hundreds native people in Alaska first nations would use this This trail system right to travel to different villages and eventually became one of those things like a off call it like a desire path was just the best route from point. A. To Point B.. Two point see the and so on and so in Nineteen Eight Government employees cleared the iditarod trail. which made it a little easier to navigate but in nineteen ten someone found gold and that changes everything in the town of I did I did? Ah Yeah okay well it did change everything because you know the town. I guess kind of blew up overnight right. They became boom towns. And there were a lot of these in Alaska as we all know just from our history classes and you know elementary school you kind of learn about the gold rushes and it what was going on there. But what happened is then a lot of the The Eh what do they call veins. I guess of gold dry up you know they they go away. Goals no longer found is not profitable to do that town kind of dries up along the way with the town remains it remains maybe You know a shell of itself it remains kind of a skeleton of itself and becomes eventually A ghost town if if it's allowed to go that far some of them just kind of remain with few residents here and

Explainer 160: Libya: a new civil war?
"Much of the lost decade Libya has been defined by a gruesome irony it has two governments but a distinct lack of governance. In recent days. There have been indications that one of Libya's two governments is intent upon resolving this contradiction, the veteran warlord general Khalifa after who is more or less in charge of the regime based in the eastern city of Brooke has ordered his forces to move on Tripoli Libya's capital and home of the government of national accord, led by prime minister, fires Sarraj and recognized by the international community as legitimate. It is not clear whether half tar and his militia who preferred to call themselves, the Libyan national army possessed the wherewithal to take Tripoli or even whether they're seriously interested in trying it may just be an attempt by half tar to assert himself ahead of a u n sponsored conference on national reconciliation Sheffield to take place in Libya next week, either to make himself seem entitled to a bigger slice of any carve-up or to disrupt the talks entirely. Libya's? Current woes are a product of the abuse previous woes in two thousand eleven amid the tumult of the Arab spring Libya's long, dictating despot the sinister and ridiculous ma-ma Al Ghaddafi was overthrown and murdered. He had ruled Libya for forty two years since seizing power in a coup d'etat in nineteen sixty nine. And there seemed little reason to mourn his passing Gaddafi was a thug. A crook. Obviously quite mad and had ruined a country which had and has every reason to be prosperous Libya possesses at least, the world's ninth largest proven oil reserves presides over seventeen hundred kilometers of glorious Mediterranean coastline and has a smaller population than London Ghaddafi had however sufficient wits about him to have successfully played the confidence trick that tyrants, often do upon the democracies the degree to either support them or ignore them. He implicitly. Opposed that terrible, though, he was whatever might follow him would be worse. And then used his power to create the domestic conditions that ensure that this would indeed be the case Gaddafi's Libya was very much Gadhafi's Libya. No opposition, no, independent institutions little in the way of civil society and people too terrified in the direct experience of this reporter to speak fairly his name. Gadhafi's regime collapsed in two thousand eleven the outside world intervened. A NATO mission authorized by the UN Security Council has been much criticized for failing to establish order. But that wasn't what it was designed to do. Operation unified protector was an ambition which imposed a no fly zone over Libya and targeted forces loyal to Gadhafi to protect civilian populations. The NATO intervention ended shortly after Gaddafi's death. The subsequent chaos has been largely of domestic Libyan manufacturer by two thousand fourteen escalating sufficiently to deserve the designation of civil war. Very broadly between whichever government of the moment was attempting to operate out of Tripoli and whatever forces were being commanded at the time by general Kelly for after a former Gadhafi loyalists who fell out with his famously irascible boss in the late nineteen thousand nine hundred and spent many years in exile in United States. What am at Helen comic? You help me and ask me by that not for the foreign forces are however now in play in Libya, despite the official UN recognition of fires Sarraj government internally Kelly for half appears to enjoy the backing of Egypt France, Russia, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. Certainly it's difficult to believe that huffed as recent visit to king Salman of Saudi Arabia was altogether. A social call as things stand. Nobody seems to. Lear on what half Tara once which may be exactly what half Tara wants some feared that he sees himself as Libya's Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the disciplinarian military, strongman others believe possibly optimistically that half as current offensive is by way of a job application for chief of the defence force of a unified Libya as we go to where after troops continue their advance towards Tripoli. Some reports have them seizing Tripoli's long-closed international airport, twenty four kilometers from the city centre earlier this week an airstrike by half tiles forces hit Tripoli's only functioning airport at Meagher, it is possible that some sort of endgame game is in play and the four that some sort of resolution may be looming. But in the short term, at least any alleviating of Libya's agonies seems wretchedly unlikely. Monocle twenty four. I'm andrew.

That's the part that strange using good in. There is
