‘It Has To Stop’: Metro Atlanta Election Officials Receive Death Threats During Recount
"All gone too far. All of it. Joji Gentlemen today asked for Chris friends, a patriot who ran CISA to be shot. It has to stop. Mr President. You have not condemned these actions or this language senators. You have not condemned this language or these actions. This has to stop. We need you to step up. And if you could take a position of leadership show something that was top ranking Georgia election official Gabriel Sterling Joe Degenova is on President Trump's legal team for his election lawsuits. Chris Krebs is the former United States director of the Cyber Security and Infrastructure Security Agency, who was fired from his position two weeks ago. Here's more from Sterling, Mr President. It looks like you likely lost the state of Georgia. We're investigating. There's always a possibility I get and you have the rights to go through the courts. What you don't have the ability to do and you need to step up and say this is stop inspiring people to commit potential acts of violence. Someone's gonna get hurt. Someone's gonna get shot. Someone's gonna get killed. Here to talk about what's going on in the lead up to Georgia's Senate runoff, says Emma Hurt a reporter at W A. B C. That's Atlanta's NPR station. Emma. Thanks so much for being here. Thanks for having me Jen, so just elaborate a bit more on sterling speech. What threats are election officials and workers facing the state. Yes. So he's talking specifically about a contractor in his twenties for the voting machine company that state uses. There was a video of him that went sort of viral on pro Trump social media, and there was a close up of his name badge. And so he was personally targeted. You know, Sterling mentioned a news being found outside his house. He's had death threats, said he should be hung for treason. His family has also been targeted. And this isn't the first time that there's been this kind of attack on a election worker of Fulton County election worker had to go into hiding closer to the election because he was being harassed because of a different out of context. Viral video. And I mean, our senators immediately responded to Sterling's statement, saying, We do condemn this violence. The president's campaign also said that but you know, they said, we're going to stand by our questioning of the election. We still think that things went wrong. But the president this morning didn't take that. Fact, he called the election rigged again. Which again you know, Election officials have repeatedly said, isn't true. So it zip it of chaos right now. Well, as you say the allegations of widespread misconduct are simply not True, but is that clear to voters in Georgia? Yeah. I mean, that's the question, and unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be to some voters on down in Georgia and across the country, even though these messages about there being no evidence of widespread voter fraud have been consistently coming out of Georgia's Republican controlled secretary of state's office. Those officials are now being attacked from the right for saying that by supporters of the president who believe that the election was rigged and that there were problems President Trump called our secretary of state, the enemy of the people. That's someone that he endorsed and who endorsed him on DSA. So it's the Republican officials are trying their best to counter this misinformation. Starling called it a game of whack a mole, but you know, it's a difficult, you know, you wonder if voters will hear that if they're already Questioning those officials personally, will they believe them when they tell them that there have been now two recounts in Georgia? What's the latest? Yes. So we had a hand count that was part of a state wide audit last week, and this week is the kind of formal recount by machines scanner that the Trump campaign requested. What we heard this morning from the secretary of State's office is that it's on track and that they're not seeing any Signs that the voting the vote totals might change by very much at all.
Pelosi, Schumer back stimulus bill after months of holding out for more money
"We've got House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate of Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer supporting a $908 billion bipartisan stimulus proposal. They said it could be the foundation for a new round of negotiations with congressional Republicans and the White House and this marks the first public retreat from their backing of a much larger $2.4 trillion pandemic relief package. So the move putting pressure now on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and the GOP to act Meanwhile, McConnell on the Senate floor today, said he's been circulating his own plan to fellow Republicans. But at the risk of repeating something we all know Mr President. Making law will require not just the Senate's approval, but also the signature of the president of the United States. So after several conversations with Secretary of the Treasury and the White House shooting, Steph I put forward yesterday another proposal. Reflecting what the president Is ready to sign into law. We're told. This is largely a revision of an earlier $500 billion plan that had been rejected by Democrats says inadequate. Even so, House Majority Leader Steny Hope, Sawyer said House and Senate leaders a striving for a deal on pandemic relief by the weekend. And it will be voted on in the middle of

Well tensions rose between israel and iran after the assassination of iran's senior nuclear scientists on friday. Most inflec- rosado is believed to have led iran's military nuclear program until it was disbanded in two thousand three and was subject to sanctions by the trump administration. He was shot near the capital. But details are still sketchy. State media pointed to a team of five or six gunmen in one report and a remote controlled machinegun and another the killing still under investigation. But iran's leader was not shy about accusing israel which has put that country on alert for a possible military response in the next few days experts. In the us including senator bernie sanders called the assassination. A move to undermine relations between the us and iran just as biden begins to transition into the white house. Trump's administration was responsible for creating what analysts called the worst era of us iran relations and forty years but many relations will improve if biden follows through with his promise rejoined the iran nuclear deal. I feel like i already saw. All of this happened in season for of homeland. And if you haven't seen homeland listeners. It doesn't end well for us. It is not not a good conclusion season. Four of homeland. Tens of thousands of people across france came out over the weekend to protest a newly proposed security law that would put a restriction on filming police officers. Police repeatedly fired tear gas into the crowds in paris on saturday. Even though the mood was largely peaceful aside from some demonstrators set fire to the country's central bank. Okay that is not minor if passed. The law would criminalize publishing images of police officers with the intent of causing harm as punishment. People could face up to a year in jail and a fine of over fifty thousand dollars civil liberties groups say the new proposal will take power away from the media and allow police abuses to go undiscovered. This all comes just days after video service of police officers beating michael a black music producer in paris. The officers responsible have since been suspended. Well we can't wait for them to be fired. America's favorite big steel beam in the desert the utah monolith disappeared this friday after capturing the country's attention for about a week. If you didn't hear about the monolith here are the basics was a ten to twelve foot tall three-sided piece of metal discovered in. Utah's red rock country by the states. Wildlife agency the objects remote location plus its lack of any attribution led some to speculate. It was the work of aliens who also brought us. The egyptian pyramids the aztec cities and anything not built by modern white. People ended on friday though when someone loaded the monolith onto a truck and took it away one hiker who was at the scene soon after said quote all that was left in its place was a message written in the dirt that said by bitch with a fresh peace day and right next to it. How fresh could it be in the desert. I've accused this guy. People definitely puzzle over the strange outerspace message for decades for me. I think it means by which Akilah i was just in utah for two weeks and i was near canyon. Lands the part of canyon lands where they found the monolith. And i'm not saying that. "It's monday wads. Quite as i miss you guys well today. We're talking about gamers in politics this weekend. Congresswoman alexandria ocasio. Cortez did another livestream of the online game. Among us. with the leader of canada's left-leaning new democratic party jagmeet singh they were joined by representatives ilhan omar as well as popular streamers like hassan piker and pokey main and as hundreds of thousands watched they raise two hundred thousand dollars for food legal aid organizations in new york as we talked about before among us. It's kind of like the game. Mafia and to be really good at it. You have to be really good at lying. So aaron i question for you. Are you good or bad at lying to wingate's so first of all people who are truly good at lying never admit that they're good at lying. You always say you're bad at lying. 'cause like that's an opportunity to lie paradox. I'm a little more analog. I'm a little bit more of a balderdash person than i am. An among us person. Wow i have no idea what balderdash is. I've heard the word. But if i couldn't tell you it's a game for nerds where you come up with definitions to obscure words and you try to trick people into thinking the real definition. I would lose that just. Because i don't know i'm not gonna investigate if that's what you say it is fine and then i'll use it wrong and then i'll be mad at you. It's a it's a really fun game. You really only need a dictionary. A few nerds and some index cards. But i'm pretty good at balderdash. I'm bad at other lying games. Like poker My face just can't be tamed. But i think that. I'm i think i'm about average lying as part of gamesmanship. Same question for you akilah okay. Well i believe that. I am okay. So like specifically in among us. I am terrible and i think it's because it is such a fast paced game like you can like lie and poker with your eyes and just sort of like you know ease into it. No one's rushing you but with among us the moment somebody finds a dead body. You're just on the spot and what were you doing. And i'm like doing besides killing doing make something up to like. I was doing a task. We haven't seen. I don't know like i think i'm bad at coming up with like a convincing. Live right you know like with poker. It's like your cards are good or bad. The michael they could be good right. Who's to say that's more of a like philosophical question I don't assign value to these. But like anytime i'm really put on the spot. I think that it's i'm just gonna start laughing as i do. In all cases and people were pretty quick to be like. We're voting you out. It's also bad. Because i like literally get voted out. I'm innocent in among us. Because i start laughing. I think he wants to tear me like are you joking. Yeah just don't get it. That's that's a bad tick. If you're trying to fool people into thinking you're telling the truth also truth be told. I haven't played among us yet. I've wanted to. But i keep confusing among us with the last of us which is oh in-depth. That's like a real video. Gets up very serious and amazingly well rendered video game. That is really really sad. And so i'm like why are all these people getting together in streaming this video game above about a girl with the dead family. Like why is this happening but Also soon to be a show. I think the last. Oh wow yeah. I think i heard that i mean i just think among us just the you know the one pixel very cheap looking. We're all little jelly beans. Sometimes you can put on different outfits you difficulties and super simple jelly being an outfit. I didn't know they were outfits. Okay yeah. I dressed as an astronaut. Which is the only right costume because your space but other people can be a cowboy. You'd be pumpkin. gosh..

"Seems like trump is just trying to come up the gears. Yeah but biden can undo all this yet. It's not as easy as the stroke of a pen. Unfortunately there's a really good propublica story that explains all of this which will link to in the show notes. But some of trump's rules have been so hastily written out there probably as riddled with mistakes as a sydney powell legal brief and we'll be left out of the courtroom like sydney depot. Legal brief but other stuff will take a while to fix. There's really no one doing all the damage trump and mitch. Mcconnell senate have done to the judiciary system There's still ramming judges through by the way instead of passing. Covert relief horrible. And it's going to take a lot of work to fuck fucker immigration system. You know akilah. Sometimes i wonder how much different our lives would be. If trump had worked even one tenth is hard to keep covert out of the us as he did to keep guatemalan toddlers out of the us. Yeah honestly it's fun to imagine. I mean if even if he didn't have any actual actions but just didn't like actively make it harder to stop the spread. Only if he wasn't just out here saying that masks fake how many more people would be alive. I mean he's a lazy man and it is easier to not sabotage than it is to actively sabotage like. He could have done less work and had a better outcome. Yeah that's how you know. He's a true idiot. Well another area. For trump right now is pardons just last week. He pardoned his former national security adviser. Michael flynn so who's next. Well let's not give them any ideas. So it's not totally odd for presidents to issue a lot of pardons during their lame duck session. Although going overboard is frowned upon and giving up pardons to people based on political favors is even more frowned. Upon to bill clinton for example turned a lot of people off when he gave out seventy six clemencies on his final day in office including one for his brother but when his donald trump ever felt shame when has been frowned upon ever been something that has made donald trump not wanna do something so far he has pardoned michael flynn who pled guilty for lying to the fbi twice and he's also got a lot of friends who do a lot of crimes like steve bannon and his His build the wall drifting organization that bought a vote that they got arrested by the post office. Yeah and he got arrested great story. Let's do that story story again. Just just for fun just for a victory lap think. The ship was called warfighter. Something stu hong loser oh man paul manafort another crime enthusiasts So i'm sure that there is going to be more pardons of very bad people in store but wait. We don't have to end unabashed note. Remember in just a matter of weeks. Joe biden will be the president and he's already building a team that is world's more qualified than the school bus full of eighty s teen movie bullies that trump appointed for example on sunday. He announced an all female communications team. Yeah i look forward to talking more about that later in the show and more this week because i am very very tired of talking about trump in particular. He can absolutely kickbacks.
U.S.’s failure to contain the coronavirus ‘mind blowing,’ colder months will be ‘very tough’
"Everything that's happening right. Now was warned of six months ago. Nine months ago. I i'll i'll say it now. I was on the phone with zeke emanuel back in march and rem annual back in march. Zeke had been talking to the president. I said what are you saying until it said. It's gonna be really bad mr president. It's going to be really bad. You got to get ready and as bad as it's going to be in the spring it's going to be worse in the fall. That was the warning. Donald j trump guide in march and we heard every doctor tell him the same thing every medical expert. Tell him this same thing and of course you had the press conference where donald trump assured us that this would not come back in the fall. Dr fauci said yes. It's going to come back in. The fall and healthcare systems are going to be pressed remembered all the times. Donald trump said we had the best testing of the world. We've got more testing. You see that picture of those cars lined up around dodger stadium. The best testing in the world not even close because he reviews time and time again to implement the defense production act remember. Donald trump saying one person coming in from china and then saying it was fifteen. And then saying we're gonna be fine in the fall. Will the fall is here and looking at this at the lines of people waiting to get a test. It's worse now than ever before. Just as donald trump was warned. Back in march by zeke emanuel justice warned by anthony algae on live television in a press conference. And so here. We are coming up to two hundred thousand new infections a day. Over two hundred and fifty thousand americans. Dead and that number is skyrocketing a shortage of testing our hospital system at a breaking point. This was not stupidity. This was willful negligence. And it's on donald trump and its own. Everybody that's worked for donald trump. It's on everybody inside the white house and it's on every republican that kept their mouth shut because they didn't want to insult the president. Oh yeah now. They don't want to insult the president while he's trying to actively undermine american democracy this past year they haven't wanted to upset the president because well he was lying about the coronavirus and a lot of stupid people really ignorant people believing. That's why we saw. Actually the governor of iowa mocking a mask mandate a couple of weeks before the election but after the election now suddenly a mask mandate is good science. This is willful negligence and it is. It is party politics at its worse it is. And you don't have to take zeke manuals word for it. We heard it in the presence. Own voice on those tapes from bob woodward. He said he knew how serious it was. He knew it was deadly. He called it the plague but he said he wanted to play it down. And as you point out there are press conferences we can roll out the tape where the president would get up in that white house briefing room and say it's not coming back in the fall. This is the worst of it. He'd move aside. Dr fact would say it's coming back in the fall. This is coming back in the fall so we are right where everyone told us we were going to be the differences between march and now eight months. We haven't done anything to stop what's happening right now. The judgement of history is going to be incredibly harsh as bad as it feels right now when we have some space for this everyone can look back on it. Hopefully we get through this rather than later. The fact that our federal government led by president trump stepped aside and let this virus burn through the country. It's unforgivable and it's happening right now and if you hear the urgency in the at briefing yesterday you hear the urgency from the cdc here the urgency from the doctors who come on our show. Dr oester home yesterday. Said this is the most serious public health a moment we've had in this country right now since one thousand nine hundred eighteen and we did start acting like it

Trump and the Republican Party at odds with claiming fraud
"President Trump isn't ready to concede the election. But from the looks of things, it's all over. But the tweeting shuriken sue every state in the country, and who knows the Democrats very well may have stolen it from him. I mean, at this point, I trust the Democrats as much as I trust the finger sandwiches, a Jeffrey Dahmer's house, But if the president is going to say there was voter fraud at some point, he has to show us some or he's the one perpetrating fraud and to be clear. I like the president, but I like our country more, which is why I don't want anyone undermining the legitimacy of the election. The Democrats have spent four years doing exactly that, saying the president cheated with Russia with zero I'll prove it all. It's why we are where we are today, with half the country questioning the legitimacy of the election, but the country could trusted a lot more if the president told him too. Which is why I say Put up or shut up, Mr President. Not only will you help the country now, but it will make things a lot easier on the Republican nominee in 2024, which could actually be him. If he ends this gracefully. Buckle up, folks, because if you think the country has worked up about this Trump campaign, wait until the

You're jealous when i used to sit and watch my ex girlfriend masturbate with her magic wand. What sorry have across some sort of line. I feel like this is a decent topic. What would you say this happens. What's going on right is happen explaining what your concern. Is you watch her. Master's my ex girlfriend is obsessed with mass talk about her like like this open real late enough at into this episode. I'm talking to the fucking shit. What the fuck dude relationships on in shitty plays all right. Whatever i guess. I could say whatever the fuck along her almost like a girl loves to fuck masturbate right attaching tachi magic wand which allows goes out there. Us i'll just be playing call warzone. This girl will run through a cycle of. I'll be like yo. How many times did you just come. And she'll say sometimes she'll say eighteen six. this is where it's no longer relatable. I feel there's somebody out there who what it is that and like honestly like but but just ca casually like she like normal relationship. Maybe you're playing a video game. Maybe girls butch just go to town okay. Maybe i'm the ivanenko is no. You're not you're the normal. Go babe what are you gonna watch something you turn on like maybe some of your old content or like what are you. What are you gonna watch. And she says. I'm thinking about you and your stupid curly hair and that made you come. Nineteen times you'll as can i ask you. Are you ever distracted while playing games and just in the background. She's not super vocal like that. She goes so happens. Is this 'cause. I've also not been playing games when she does. Sometimes we'll watch a movie and she'll roll into it for twenty minutes. Okay i i have been very simple right after this. Explain it to first of all. Be watching the movie. Then i'll hear the sound of the magic wand to tell you just start right and he'll be under the blanket be under the blanket and then the bottom of the blanket that i'm under as well we'll start to lift up because her feet are becoming. Rigor mortis and they're stiffening. All the girls are know exactly what their legs will become. Rigor mortis lifting uncontrollably off the couch. Dan headphones go lifting off the couch. Her chestnut fill up with air please. Giggles starts levitating celebrity. Be will simply hear this. And and almost as if she is. Lifted from a seance or some sort of dream state she. And i we know controversial man whatever and then i think tomorrow i'm like i'm thinking to myself and she's so vastly enjoying it. And there's all this tingling going on i think to myself like the last time i jerked off was forty six seconds of some of the most guilty dreadful time in my life and i came into a an old sock and then went downstairs and prayed for forgiveness. Why are men's. Why is men's masturbation so much less stimulating cool and exciting than women's. I think it's because they have a tool. I think it's because they have an electronic also. I'm gonna make a bold statement. Men's masturbation technology has not kept up with women's as a broad statement right now. Your tool goto tool for masturbation is a dry fucking hand. It's your hand. Imagine if you're go to tool goto tool for searching..

"You love this man. You know we got. We got a group. Chat now is cool. Shallow to the girl lands here jazzy. For like the life gig. 'cause he he really is a lover anyways. Go ahead yeah. He was seeing. You seen with julia. Anne house at brothers story today and julia is back in the picture august. Poor harry or i mean. I don't know what happened right. But i seen julia with my brother again. And it just goes to show man this this. La relationship stuff is tricky one day. You're together one day. You're not words one day you're flying on a jet across the country with some athlete or it's just fucked dot man. It's all fucked up. It's like it's like you think you have things like i said. I think you have things figured out in the moment or by the way. There's also like other things that pull you. There's a lot of temptation. I don't know if anybody watching this knows it's but there's a lot of good looking people in the city. I can't relate to any of this. Shit i know because you're a good christian who lives in arizona. I guess not gonna no. It's like first of all get that. No it's just people need to understand when she gets hard he can't just throw it away. It's not you can't archivist picture. You them saying yeah. I'm looking at you bitch. My girlfriend this fucking poor woman down and talk to both of you guys. You catch a fucking grip or catch these hands just not. They're just not easy easy though it is you guys. He's got a fucking second up. And if you pull the trigger mean it don't fucking just pull the trigger to pull the trigger. It's not an air soft gun because no because sometimes you pull the trigger irrationally halon doors and maybe door you do with how you talk how we do it in different places you you are one that sticks out your relationship and you make it through tough times and you're grounded in in a little bit more of simplicity. You understand that in both are relationships that there are factors that you don't have to necessarily deal. No i understand. All i get it. But both sides mess. Let me let me talk. I've had that relationship. Where i break up and get back and break up and get back and do this and do that but you gotta start taking time to realize might be fucking you and it was. It was me at the second up for anybody listening. They're going to hate me for saying this. But i'm alan on on a quick track to get cancelled soon. Sada's might as well hop on that train. I believe i might be old fashioned. I feel like a man in the relationship needs to be a leader but doesn't mean it's worth more. I'm not saying the man's worth more saying you got to lead. With example i feel has a lot of hormones are built this way. If they're going off the wagon respect it deal with it like a man how. What the if to fucking couples are like freaking out every two seconds to me. That's two chicks. Do you have your right first of all wrong with dating or george. Listenclear quarter triptych. Cancel me. I agree with you. I speak for myself. There's a certain amount of ego that exists in a relationship between to delist pseudo celebrities. One who has every rapper in his inner fucking inbox and thirteen million instagram. And the other one is a proud host of the number one one eight six. Listen what i'm getting at. Is this factors understand that certain relations have more simplicity. I'm not saying you're relationships easy. I'm just saying i. I have not been as good me personally. She's done great. I've not been as good as you're saying. I should be at navigating the insane waters. That is a fucking internet relationship. Which is why no matter what happens. I'm i feel confident. In saying i won't have a return to an to a couple of channel that that adds an aspect long. Did you post the video before breaking after breaking up how long it was a little quick look. It was an amateur so fucking. There's another factor that you have to take into account what i what i probably. Yes your relationship here. Here's a here's a what i was gonna say. 'cause you're right a relationship tell you it will tell you what's wrong with you. Hundreds lot lot of room for personal growth in relationships. I'm gonna steal this quote from our friend. Our good friend who you guys both know and love guru saw this going viral on tiktok. I'm gonna steal it. And hopefully now. I go viral on tiktok as if these are my words. This is the bad breath one. I'm going to say okay. What listen let's say you don't brush your teeth for three days right side guru said your nose right above your mouth your nose right above your mouth your sniffer won't be able to tell that your breath smells but breath. Smells bad but everyone in the room will know that. Your breath smells bad right. He said this is the human predicament. It's so easy to say. Oh this is. What's wrong with her was wrong with him. This was wrong with that guy over there but it's so much harder to tell. What do i have to improve here. What's wrong with me. And what areas do. I need to work on your noses right above your mouth. What he's saying. How in theory. It should be so easy to look inward smell your breath and identify where you need to improve what your shortcomings are. But it's just not for whatever reason that's the human predicament. Thanks a lot of work. It takes a lot of work in a lot of maturity and maybe a drop of the ego. That's hard for me. it's. It's just for me to like george georgia's ben in relationships. I haven't been in a relationship in over a decade. And the first one i got into was highly publicized. A massive integration between love and business which is just tragic tricky tricky tree the amount of times when we should've taken a one week break to to gather our thoughts but couldn't because we had content to deliver to the night shift audience gave up again and i will too with. This is a learning lesson for me. I do need to do a lot better. And i love the idea that i have separated that relationship from the night shift brand i. I never wanted to have a couple of channel. I saw the views. Eight million on the first video than six million and five million than eight million four million. I lost track of the idea that one point five million two million views. Doing what i wanna fuck in do is way more important than eight million views from people who are coming to see a girl channel but you hit trending for the first time. How'd that feel. I did it without her on the phone now because she was the topic. Fuck you know why why you're trending. I figured out. Because i took the night shift. Maybe possible. Youtube trending wholesomeness wholesomeness. My editor said the store. Our food group chat the other day. This was the training page. I mean this diktat galore and look how wholesome best friends each other costumes. Baking halloween treats rating halloween. Candy carving pumpkins for my best friends charlie. Now james chase. Ray dixie demilio. These people are just so wholesome. And i fear that i've have gone down the wrong path too long. I don't know if i'm holding. Here's my question for you. Where where are they making these people like. Where are these people being because these are clearly moltes built from a built from a factory. Do you know the power. Puff girls. Yes you know how the doctor a little sugar spice and something nice. That's how these people were made so what. Where did the doctor go wrong with me when he started adding. I see in fact, come and watch US sing and play because we're we're the new generation and I really think we got something to say. Don't you think say the monkeys. Monkeys hey we shouldn't be forced to write up trees and get coconuts we shouldn't. Jeffey. said that they're chained right when they're not yet be the monkeys are chained. Some of them. Are Putting collars on them, putting collars on them and chaining them. But you know that means that they you know are safe. Means saying, what would it mean? Say Well it can't run into the road get hit by a car. Okay. Me Kids are safe. Kidnapped now as funke's chained. Okay and then they do they train them to go up the tree they go up to three they twist coconuts and coconut drops down. Why is that so difficult to understand? Though society is no longer at the point where we can prioritize monkeys and it. I don't understand why I'm supposed to care about that. Really I mean I do I I'm sorry should be beating the monk now we should. Do. I do I honestly. CARE. I don't want that to happen though, but I don't want the coconut. So get your ass up there to get the coconut. I will say we turned on. Documentary or I guess. Pita she's she doesn't care without hesitation we would say yes. So we have to factor in two things the the animal, right there's that one sliding scale and then also the disease or whatever. We're trying to figure out you know, and then somewhere that that meets for. I don't know where mine is I have to really sit there and think I mean that's the same with cattle right? Do I want them? "Three, ninety, three, also ed pat unleashed on twitter. Is there another Biden video that missing so far this morning. He was in Georgia the other day. I just trying to figure doing here. It's just weird clip play that WHO. Am I doing this? I don't know why. What is my real? That's what we're all wondering. He's wondering that too. Yeah. I should've actually called for the Admiral Stockdale Clip to who am I? Why am I here? It's the same thing Dan. You know talking about right back in the ninety two. Pain me was the running mate for borough. Yes, and he had that debate and right fun line. was there a? Vice Presidential debate thing is that what who was part? That was that was a big night for me. That was the debate and a braves playoff game I remember that. No better combination in the world. Knows some people would ask, why am I here? Why. What is my real agenda I? Don't know what don't you share it with us now. Since. No kidding. Nancy Pelosi very confident about the outcome of the election on Tuesday. Maybe a little too confident listen to this. But we are ready. I feel very confident that Joe Biden will be elected president. On Tuesday but ever the. and. Count is. On the election that occurs on Tuesday, he will be elected on January twentieth, he will be inaugurated president of the United States. So while we don't want to be overconfident assume anything we have to be ready. For how we're going to go down a different path Yeah, and is UKIO. Doesn't matter what the tally is. Where we? We figured out ways to get Joe in there Yeah. That's what it sounds like. Doesn't it That's exactly what it sounds like. Tight I mean. I don't WanNa believe that that would take away all the hope that we've been trying to interject into this thing the last several weeks. So I'm going to ignore that particular reference to choose to just that didn't happen. Fast. Rigged already don't worry about very fashionable mask she was wearing wasn't it? We have a still shot could we that she's been wearing some? Really hip masks of late and that's another one right. There is nice. That's a good looking mask. Good And again, it doesn't do a thing but. You're welcome to wear it. That's great. You know what's interesting is here we are all wearing masks and what's happening according to them right now it's spreading faster than ever everybody in this country is where it a mask we have to. Everywhere we go. It's a rule that you have to put your mask on inside have to wear masks get. Right. But if you want to go into a restaurant, if you want to go into a seven eleven, if you want to go to the grocery store, if you want to do any kind of business, you gotta wear the. Mask. So where you're ask and we have so what's happening? are the infections going down? No, they're skyrocketing if you're to believe the CDC right and Who by the way has been he was on ship Smith show yesterday. And looking to see you. Again that over here ship Smith talking to Anthony. FAUCI. Won't even let him finish sentence now these two are on the same pay. With the end but SHEP Smith. Is showing you why he has no ratings won't wrong CNBC the he's trying to make some news, right? I mean. Trying to make some news no question and no regionally, it was with this show was going to be just the facts and we're just GonNa do the stories and now is seeing you know maybe I should. Yeah. Well, that's never been chip Smith he doesn't just do this story. Interjections Liberal bullcrap viewpoints into everything if Ouchi. Now, the nation's leading expert on infectious diseases joins US DR FAUCI. Thank you. Good. To be with you you've said a national mask mandate is maybe a good idea. Why maybe? Yeah. Why not? Definitely why not order every? Time why? Why Dr? Algae. Well, the reason is I would hope that we could pull together as a country have realized the we have interrupted importance. Not, and that's the reason why I said very clearly is it time? We lean on you for advice. Do we need a national mandate? Answer. Well we do. If we don't get one, then I would hope that the governors and the mayors do it locally if it's not done nationally, Dr Foul we need to get. Done foul chests are you still are deposits? Are you still in the president's E. or no and if so who if not who is? Well I haven't spoken to the president in quite a while about the situation with regard to the outbreak until the answer's No. But I can tell you right now. Why regardless of that? What we why? Why shouldn't they do a national man I don't know have you heard of this? Freedom. Of the United States Constitution why? Why wouldn't you want everybody to do your will why? Why don't you put everybody into an internment camp who won't wear one why you need is adherence to mandate or not? If mandate is needed, let's do a mandate. One, who for? He's not. GonNa let me Finish Finish Any urgent the situation I know it is very urgent then that's Urgently saying every single day that we've got to do things that have not been done uniformly and consistently throughout the country, the numbers that you put up our stunning this is going to get worse because we're going more into a colder season as we get through the fall and into the winter holiday season going to. Win something different. We can't just let this happen. We're going to have many more hospitalizations and that will inevitably lead to more deaths. So this is untenable situation and that's the reason why I say we have got to do these things you're using the word mandating mass. Yes. If that works, let's do it I. Don't think it's going to happen nationally if it doesn't nationally again free reason is because it might. Not come from the White House to do it. Then I think that the mayors and the.
COVID-19 in the United States
"The corona virus has never been stronger in our country. By any measure. It's now at its height thus far right now tonight, average daily new cases. Now nearing seventy thousand, that's the highest. Since this started total cases topping eight point seven, million death toll at two, hundred, twenty, six, thousand, and the US leads the world in both categories and with the corona virus at its height. The president of the United States is insisting with a straight face that it's going away. Contending. Ending Anyway, we're rounding ending anyway what progress we've made on it to understand it. We have the best testing in the world. That's why we show so many cases because we do more testing than anybody else. But we're doing great and. Oh excuse me here. I am right I'll be. Three. More packed rallies for the president today even in light of new findings that his past rallies have led to spikes in the spread of Corona virus then there's Mike Pence he's the head of the House Corona Virus Task Force. He's still traveling and out on the trail as he was today, even though at least five aides including his chief of staff and personal aide have tested positive for the coronavirus pence himself has tested negative but according to CDC guidelines. Of course, he should be in quarantine trump's chief of staff was asked about the administration's response to this latest outbreak in the West Wing and the rise in cases across the country. Here's what we heard yesterday and today. We're not going to control the pandemic. We are going to control the fact that we get vaccines therapeutics and other mitigates. We're GONNA get. Because it is a contagious virus just like the fully, but we're going to defeat the virus where we're not going to control it. We will try to contain it best we can. If you look at full context of what I was talking about is is we need to make sure that have therapeutics vaccines. Joe Biden called Mark Meadows by name when he criticized the White House earlier today. Right. Now, chief of Staff Mark Meadows run on television to admit. The. country. Administration, was even trying. Trying to do more to deal with a pandemic no caveat is. Just a deadly admission I've been saying for months as you well know. That he waved the white flag. All the way back. Then some people said I was being harsh. On, fair the White House is coming right out now and admitting what I said months ago was absolutely true. You know Mr President. You have to have a little bit of shame. That's a little bit of shame. Because People Are Dying
What was said in the Trump-Biden debate last night?
"Let's talk about what went down last night. Akilah quick first impression here. All right. So I was prepared for this debate to be just as annoying as the first one and generally speaking I don't think it was it was quieter and less interrupt. The mute button function was good for the majority of the first answers to the moderator's questions. By the end although senseless non sequiturs started creeping back in also say that the moderator last night Kristen Welker was way better like so far ahead of Chris Wallace several weeks ago you know she kept the candidates on topic she forged ahead with better more relevant questions whenever trump threatened to devolve into conspiracy theories and generally speaking she seemed comfortable being there. So that was the VIBE. But Gideon, let's talk about what trump did last night how would you describe what he had to say? Yeah I definitely agree that it was more toned-down but on the substance I, think trump still acts enlarge part like he's running into. Kept, trying to cast his opponent as a career politician and one who was corrupt he brought up that hunter suffer example, but it didn't quite and it was a little bit hard to follow, and that strategy allows him to evade questions about his own term as well as his vision for the future he failed for instance, offer coherent message on the biggest crisis of his presidency covert nineteen and he at times tried to make the Democratic ticket seem more to the left than it is trump. Seems to always have Bernie Sanders on the brain and several times. He came back to the same point about Biden being a longtime politician who hasn't gotten anything done. But there was at least one specific moment where the strategy failed and he pretty remarkable way by turn to the camera and said, the debate should be about the families of people watching and not what the two candidates were talking about and trump kind of fell into a trap with a terrible answer. Here's a clip of that. This isn't about there's a reason why he's. been up all this Malarkey. There's a reason for he doesn't WanNa talk about the the the substantive issues it's not about his family and my family it's about your family and your family's hurting badly if you're making less than if you're a middle class family, you're getting hurt badly right now you're sitting at the kitchen table this morning to decide what we can't get new tires their ball because we have. To wait another month or so or are we going to be able to pay the mortgage who's going to tell her? She can't go back to to community college there the decision making in the middle class families like I grew up in. Scranton claim they're in trouble we should be talking about your families but that's a last thing he wants to talk about I wanted to say I wanted to tell. Me What is it? Ten seconds Mr President go political stupid. Let's get off this China thing and then he looks the family around the table everything just a typical politician I see that's. Difficult politician. That's why I got elected that. Let's get off the subject of China let's talk around sitting around the table. Right come on Joe you. Okay. So if we're following the logic here, trump is coming off as saying I'm not a typical politician I don't care about your family. Almost. Literally, what he's getting at that moment along with one word trump backed away from raising the federal minimum wage were really out of sync with what's going on in the country among working families. So a Gila, what did you make of trump last night? So I mean personally, I'm not giving US seventy four year old man props for not screaming like an infant during a debate like he's been here long enough he I don't know how to act by now. But in terms of the content of his answers, there wasn't really much worth talking about like. You said trump didn't really WANNA talk about his record at all at one point. He did say that he takes responsibility for covert but then he immediately pivoted to the same old static about how everything is China's fault and other points he blamed. Democratic. Governors and criticized overall continued to downplay the virus saying that schools and businesses should fully reopen but he revealed no plan to deal with the spikes and infections. In fact, he claim that there is a vaccine that's ready and we'll be deployed in a few weeks wad squad we know
Recap: Trump's NBC Town Hall And Biden's ABC Town Hall
"Town halls. Last night, ABC News George Stephanopoulos posting Joe Biden, the former vice president of the United States, now the Democrat nominee for president, Donald Trump. Meanwhile, the president of the United States was on NBC with Savannah Guthrie. Yes, There was no debate last night. Yes, it was cancelled by the debate commission. Yes, Steve Scully, the guy who was supposed to moderate the debate. It turns out, he lied about being hacked on his Twitter account. So his life isn't going too well right now, but we still got a debate. Savannah, Guthrie and President Trump were debating one another for almost the entire town hall. They were just cats and dogs all over each other the entire time. Very little time for voters toe get a chance to question the president of the United States. Although there was a funny moment. 27 listen to this woman. She's a Biden lead leaning Supporter, writes that she's leaning towards Joe Biden. Her name is Paulette Dale. And here's what she had to say the moment she had a chance to question the president of the United States question. Evening, Mr President, I have to say you have a great smile. The guy's hands. You're so handsome when you smile. Thanks. Mom was totally fan Girling. She was She was like Backstreet Boys, just like boy banding all over again, you know I don't think she's voting for Biden. I just have this hunch again. There's another producer who I think lost a jobless. There's a lot of unemployment to based on the town hall last night. It's still funny. And by the way she was being attacked, of course, like because everything is the next potential crisis. Everything's all out war. You're never allowed. Teo. You know, you give comfort to the enemy. So just You have a great smile. You should smile more. I love your smile and being destroyed for that. Well, that's a big thing on the left. You don't tell her where I'm tired of being constantly told that I should smile more because you never tell menace smile more that That's a thing for the For the women on the left. Yeah, well, maybe she was two birds. One stone She got in there last night, and it made it Was added a couple of men to the smile equation, adding President Trump to it. Oh, and last night. Also Joe Biden remember facing off against Stephanopoulos. This was a tough one cut 40. You know? Finally, Finally we get to the issue of Hunter Biden in a national setting. Here's that moment last night. That's right now it didn't come up at all. We've sighted and Garfunkel were there. How did I miss this? Nobody. Simon Garfunkel in the entire 90 minutes. 30 different question. Town Hall. Joe Biden doesn't get a single one about the newly emerging evidence that he appears tohave corrupted American foreign policy to the benefit of his family's financial interests. Not a single question about this last night, not a surprise. But ABC. Throws in with on overwhelming effort by the media and the big tech companies to suppress an important story that the New York Post has been breaking every single day for the last couple days. No, it was. It was just so amazing. And I'm glad that I watched them separately. Just because for me, I don't have the ability to just pay attention. Both. I'm afraid, miss something. So, Watson separately, I will say, though. A job in town hall. I just started playing a game on my phone because they would ask a question. And Joe Biden would start answering the question. And then he would meander through a whole bunch of different topics. Everything that was going on in his head. He would meander all over the place. I was waiting for the big giant, you know, Biden Gaff which wasn't there didn't happen. I'm just gonna float this and I could be 100% wrong. So this is just a thought that has gone through my head last night. He He was just talking so much. I thought somebody put him on Ritalin. He was just just going and go. He was taking like Barack Obama length to answer a question. Yeah, they say that he stayed for 30 minutes after the town hall and kept answering questions. He kept talking forever. ABC never heard that footage released it by the way they should. If he have cameras and a microphone on him. We should see the footage of his Q and a with the voters after that thing was done last night released Joe Biden. I do want to get to this. This. He was asked about court packing last night. Cut 45 with George Stephanopoulos. Here is here is his new answer on court packing. How about that question of expanding the court hears what you said exactly one year ago tonight at a Democratic debate, he said, I would not get into court packing. I would not packed the court. That's not what you're saying Now is the nomination of Judge Barrett Reason enough to rethink your position. What is the nomination and what I wanted to do? George? You know if I had answered the question directly, then all the focus is beyond what's Biden going to do? If he wins instead of on? Is it appropriate? What is going on now? And it should stay. This is the thing that the president loves to do always take our eye off the ball. What's his state? One of these, Peter suggested is and there's a number of constitutional scholars have suggested as well that there are at least 45 options that are available to determine whether or not you could change the way in which the court lifetime appointment takes place. Consistent, arguably. With the Constitution. I have not been a fan of court packing because I think it just generates what will happen every whoever wins. It just keeps moving in a way that is inconsistent with what is going to be manageable. So you're still not a fan, but I'm not a fan of Don't say it depends on how this turns out. Howie wins but how it's handled how it's handled. There's a hostage crisis. You don't play by my rules on packing the court how it's handled. What does that mean? We know how it's going to be handled. There's a vote on the 22nd. She's going to get confirmed me how it's going to be handled. He? That is about the clearest indication he's given yet that he intends to pack the court. Yeah, he said last night he is open to packing the United States Supreme Court. And it depends on how it's handled. He's got the gun to our heads, he says. Go ahead. You want me to pack the court approve any Cockney? Barrett put her on the Supreme Court. I'll do it. That's the answer he gave in his own marble mouth, Joe Biden Way.
Presidential debate: Trump refuses to take part in virtual TV
"Presidential debate will be virtual Trump isn't having any of it. Apparently. Right now. President Trump is claiming he's not going to do a second debate if the second debate is virtual, and the commission on public debate is now saying that they wanted to be virtual only, according to The Associated Press. The second debate between Trump and Biden will take place virtually amid the fallout from the president's diagnosis of Corbett in 19. A nonpartisan commission on presidential debates Sighted two needs will protect the health and safety of all involved with the second presidential debate. The candidates will participate from separate remote locations while the participants and moderator remain in Miami. And, of course, would radically shape the dynamic of the second debate number one. There's always a little bit of delay when you're doing things for only a very slight delay generally, and that means very difficult for trump to jump in. If Biden is lying, or for Biden defend off attacks from Trump, it could turn into even more of a mess You've ever been on a zoom call with a delay. You know exactly what I'm talking about. Also. There's severe concerns, and there should be severe concerns about what sort of information Joe Biden is going to get. Remember when he's actually in the room. He can't be fed information. But his own people have routinely and repeatedly refused to answer on camera whether Joe Biden uses TelePrompTer during interviews whether they're feeding him information during the interviews by throwing it up on his teleprompter, you could easily see them doing something like that in the middle. Of the debate, especially because they have not actually disowned that tactic. In the past, Trump says, he's not gonna do it. So Trump said on Fox business that he will not do a virtual debate. Here's what it sounded like. I heard that the commission a little while ago changed the debate style. In and that's not acceptable to us. I beat him easily in the first debate, according to the polls that I've seen, but I beat him easily that I felt that beat him easily. I think he felt it too, but I'm not going to do a virtual debate. Saying So, Mr President, you're not going to do it because the CPD the Commission on presidential debates, announcing this morning that the second presidential debate will be virtual. You say you're not going to participate. No, I'm not gonna waste my time on a virtual debate. That's not what debating is all about. You sit behind a computer and do a debates ridiculous and then they cut you off whenever they want. Now. The commission on Presidential debate, of course, says that they have to do this for reasons of public safety. The president will be free and clear of this thing by the time The next debate rolls around. Presumably, it is unclear how long the viruses shed, but he will be immune. If he continues to recover. Hey apparently is symptom free and has been symptom free for some 48 or 72 hours at this point So it seems unlikely at best that he's going to transmit the virus a week from now to somebody, and it seems like you could take some precautions. To the extent that you need to take precautions in order to make sure that they can have an in person to make. You could do it in the
Fox News Says Trump Will Take Medical Evaluation Live On Tucker Carlson’s Show
"A live medical evaluation on Fox News tonight. According to the network, Dr Marc Siegel will evaluate Trump and interview him tonight, the network announced while the White House has showed video updates from the president since he tested positive for the Corona virus last week. This is the first time he's appearing for a live camera interview, although he was on the Rush Limbaugh show today and he said, a dirty word. He said. I don't know if it got through on the air because there are so many levels of ah of Ah censored, not censorship, but censoring dirty words. Hey, said Iran knows not to bleep with us, but he actually said the words anyway. But so on camera, I guess this will be the first on camera, but he's already been on Mike long for this, but I tell you, I don't like this just because it screams of a You know, preplanned media event, Which is, of course, is what it is, but I when I read the story, the first thing I thought of was that LeBron James was that the choice the decision whatever you call it when he decided to take his talents to South Beach. On and it was all a completely fabricated event. That's kind of what this screams ofthe right here. And no matter what it's not gonna look good. It's just going to look ridiculous, and that's pretty sad. Trump was diagnosed with covert 19 on October 1st. He completed treatment Thursday yesterday, according to his latest medical update, And he said he doesn't think he's contagious anymore so she wouldn't say stuff like that. I don't think I'm contagious. Right, and you've got your m V. Where, Okay. Trump also said Thursday that he was still taking Ah, Dex methods seen a story that can reduce fever is, medical experts say it's impossible to know whether the president is still contagious. Ah, week after his diagnosis. Dr Anthony Fauci, the government's top infectious disease, experts said to negative lab tests 24 hours apart are a key factor in determining whether or not someone is still contagious. S O. If the president goes 10 days without symptoms, and they do the tests that we were talking about, then you could make the assumption based on good science that he has not infected. So far. That's not the case. While reports of reinfection a rare the CDC recommends that even people who recover from covert 19 continue to wear a mask. Stay, distanced and follow the precautions. It was unclear of Trump, who Ah issued, the mask wearing is in most settings would abide by the guys know Trump's campaign and the White House were already drawing up plans for Trump to resume campaigning, eyeing a visit Pennsylvania on Monday And Michigan on Tuesday. Ah, head of what was to have been next Thursday's debate, but they want to do this. I mean, you know, I keep getting mixed stories, so I don't even know if the debates are actually going on. I can't even tell you right now, as I sit here if the actual debates are going on Because the commission on Presidential Debates say they want to do it. Virtually Trump doesn't want to do it virtually, Biden said. He initially said he would agree to push it back a week and now he's saying no, he wasn't gonna do that. And now they're talking about doing a Biden Town hall where, if it's anything like the last bite in town hall that they did on what was an NBC Where they said We have undecided voters here, and they determined that all of the vote are almost all of the voters, whose claim to be undecided had appeared on CNN earlier as decided for Biden voters, So it's just all a big scam that's going on. And like I said, I just I feel that going on the air and having a medical evaluation done. I mean, you're just opening yourself up to criticism. You're just opening yourself up to other to the other side to come out and say no, No, they didn't do this. They didn't do this. They didn't do this. What is trump trying to hide and I really don't want to play that game. We've reached that point on I reach it in every presidential elections. Every election cycle actually reach it in every cycle where we sit here and go, will you all please? Stop. We've got Nancy Pelosi trying to do a coup. In the in the House, presenting bills when Congress in units session at all the houses on and you've got you got, you know people from all sides, you know, telling lies and making up stories, everything and and even though we're only 25 days away, maybe because it's trump And the media jumps all over everything on Conversely, whenever ah, biting her, Harris do anything. Nobody knows if those perfectly fine what they did, and then I just get frustrated by it. I just get frustrated by the entire thing and we may be at that point. So it's trump tonight on Fox. And say the times on the Tucker Carlson Show. It gives one of Carson's on tonight. They're going, Tio. They're going to do a full medical workup of Donald Trump. Right there on T C. That's the things like I said. What's that gonna look like? You know, the president sitting there in a robe and they're going to look in his eyes and his ears and listened to his heart and take some blood. Maybe. How is this gonna look? Or is it going to be the doctor coming out and saying, Mr President, can I take your pulse? Well, sounds good to me and then move on from there because you know, no matter what happens, the other side's not going to find this satisfactory. I suppose that it's a way to because you know what the results are gonna be. Well, I know what the results are going to be sitting here hasn't happened yet. We know what the results are going to be. I guarantee you Dr Marc Siegel isn't going Tio Go on TV tonight, especially on Fox News and look at the president. Go boom. Mr President. I don't think this is right.
2020 Vice Presidential Debate: Post Debate Analysis
"First, as always, when we have a debate, presidential, vice presidential or otherwise we bring in my friend Kpk political analyst Gary Dietrich, who joins us right now, Gary, Welcome to the show. They had good to be with you. And I look forward to a sharing with our callers. And perhaps even hear from them stopped on this. No doubt an important night, my friend. I think it probably is going to go down as one of the most. Important and watch Vice presidential debates. As you know, pad most people steer clear and find out which Channel V p debate it now. Not for me, not tonight. Well, you know for me, Gerry. Because we all know what happened in the presidential debate. Okay? But in the vice presidential debate, couple of things first thing I want to say is, I think we, um maybe learned a little bit more about about The candidates, and certainly one of the things I learned is it was a little different in the first one. It wasn't so testy, and that's college other names to do that, But But when, course, the moderator time, Susan Page us said to the University of Utah, where they held it, But she would say Thank you. Thank you. Thank you, And they would just keep talking as if she was not even ending it in. Both of them were guilty of that tonight. They just don't seem to follow the protocol. Anyone? Yeah, They certainly do a lot better tonight than last week. I mean, but that debt debt to me got annoying as well. But at least and then cure Point Palace is very well taken. It was a far far more substantive debate. Because again last Tuesday, a good third of it. You couldn't even make out what people were saying, because they were talking over each other so much. And then when that wasn't happening. I know the third of it was nothing more than name calling and accusing each other of stuff, right, right. I thought substance substantively. Far better. I know we want to dive into that. But I just think you know a farm or just say, I think helpfully conducted debate that we saw last week. Why a very extensive notes that I took care of it. Let's go to your notebook first. Gerry, what did you take away from this other than the things you've mentioned? Where there's wasn't much name calling, and it was a bit more substantive and it was in certain areas. But I tell you one observation I haven't we continue to have When it comes to politicians. They have an absolute art of avoiding questions, Gerry. It's amazing. It is an amazing talent. You know, sometimes it's so funny because it gets so extreme that they literally launch up on something completely unrelated. To what the question everyone's right. Never even come back, even attempt to do it right. You know, there's the art of bridging, which is you start with an answer that's related question, and you'll really get it. Bridge to something that you'd rather talk about. But somebody has just said I was just like, okay. Thanks for Thanks for speaking. I'd like to say this. All right, let me let me tell you one impression, and I came away from more generally. That and part of this is the nature of being an incumbent III, The vice president, who is currently in office, and part of it is and I have to say this, I felt like in this moderators case. Not a fair and thorough job of taking to cast. Some of Harris is history in elected office, which is extensive and buy even more, so I felt like the vice president Was on the defensive for most of the debate, particularly early on And and I felt like there could have been far more balance in saying, Hey, Well, you know the questions that's been raised about, you Know, X Y Z. When Joe Biden was in the Senate, we didn't hear anything about his voting. Many, many years of voting record Senate nor, frankly, honestly, really any kind of a hardball question about the years service vice president nor really questions that even within our own party have been raised about Senator Harris to me. I had a sense in which the questions themselves. What? Adequately reflective off some of the challenges that have been raised about those who currently or seeking the office. Not holding. I'm glad to hear you say that, Gary because I'm sitting there and I'm listening, and I'm listening very carefully in the moderator moderator plays a big part in this and you're absolutely right. From my perspective. I felt the same thing. I thought the questions were slanted. Um, the through the entire time all the way up until the end when we and I remember the presidential debate, Gary, I remember how the ending they manufacture this question about if you were to lose the election, Mr President, and would there be there smooth transition of power, and then we hear this. We hear this Susan page tonight at the end, and she asked both of them, and it's a slight on the president. He never said he was not going to leave the office piece. We never said anything like that. And there she is pressing this. What I consider to be a manufactured question about what's gonna happen. How would you handle that? Mike Panzer. How would you take? What would your response be? Comma Harris, you and Joe Biden. I am in total agreement. I thought that the questions were slanted, Gary. Well, and you know me, Pat and our listeners have known me for 20. Plus years on the station. You know, I I call them like I see him. I don't care what it was all going on, or Jerry about who was it doesn't matter in the national level, the exact game way, But I really came away feeling that And then there was and I do agree with you about that last question. Frankly, it's the only one she was able to oppose the moderate, she said. She had time for related to election integrity, and I really expected her to go to the integrity of the mail in ballots and these other questions. You know, our How long is the process could be could be drawn out. Could there be expensive court challenges. So take the time to go about whether the president's going to leave or not just seemed odd to me, particularly when everybody from Mitch McConnell on down it made utterly clear. That the president will be leaving if he gets voted out. Anyone if he isn't saying another thing about a question that I really found and I don't know how to use a word except disingenuous. It was the question about When Amy Cola coming back, so just highlighted? Yes, taking up picking up next week and it was about it was about what would you do? And it was a long and convoluted way to get to the Abortion question. What would you do that Mr Vice President in your home state of Indiana, if you'd get if you get approved, and if they throw out will be weighed. And if it goes back to the states, then what would you say Indiana should do what I said. He's not the governor of Indiana anymore. He's going to have absolutely no say in that policy making decision. It was so convoluted odd to me. I felt why don't you just ask you a few pro life or pro choice? Because that's really what the heart of your question is? Absolutely it is. And I believe the American people can see through that, Gary. I really do. Even if your vote he made up your mind. I mean, it's pretty obvious that you can see what's happening, and there was another point there. Where they were talking about late term abortions up until the last day and and pants and asked, you know about that. And there was no answer from Kamala Harris. There was no it was a redirection. It was abridging as you say, Hey, also asked if Judge Amy Kona bear it was going to be appointed. Would you be filling the Supreme Court room? She never answered it. He says to her. I want to make it very clear to the American people. I want them to note that she never answered the question that she says. Well, I'm gonna answer the question right now. Now I'm going to answer. The question can never answer the question. Never, and I listened. I was waiting for that. You know, I was waiting for the answer. It never happened. Yeah, that that and that is a very important issue. I mean, if there's three issues that people are very concerned about it last night, I happened to moderate a debate on I was in debate was a candidate forum of a number of different off was honored of moderate and you know, Congressman Tom McClintock. Well, Yeah, he he was headlining that candidate for him and added, he laid out very eloquently is senator as Congress. McClintock often does what he perceived to be the three major issues going report and it wasn't anything about specific foreign policy or even economic policy was packing the Supreme Court. It was about whether the filibuster is going to be thrown out in the Senate so that whoever has the majority will have complete and utter control. And and thirdly, whether state who is going to be granted to particular selected entities like Puerto Rico like Washington, D. C. That would then begin to quote unquote packed the Congress. And these are very, very significant issues for the future of the United States and our governmental process. None of that was raised tonight and to your point pat, which I think is well taken. Senator Harris refused, and there's no way to get around that refused to answer that question. And I thought that was very telling that you know that issue, which is a very central one right now and could have ramifications for many, many decades become was not answered.

"Kevin Gallagher Alikhan Caccia D'Amato where which we don't fit into any of these categories that people from the deep South would fit into the other ones who Batesville Washington in calling the shots and the Republican Party wins as you mentioned gun control before I'm not antigun only gonNA I don't really gone but if you walk down the street and you took ten and pretend to be publicans forgets and Democrats ten Republicans. You walked up to me and say do think criminals should have a gun. I think a mental patient using the terminology as regards. You didn't get guy in the terrorist watchlist Muslim on the terrorist watchlist. I'm using it. Don't use I guess I'm just saying if you put it in those terms. There's no of course not I'm so I'd write conservatives but then do you say your favorite gun control. It's absolutely not defamed. Good regulation no so I think getting a lot of debate has gotten skewed. It really is is why we why we go to the Mat. Saying Person Terrorist Watch list should be able to buy a gun a why a guy who may have a criminal record should be allowed to buy a gun when you you know it's just makes Mesa makes no sense all right. I got one last question for you. which is if president trump called later today and said Peter Before you head out into the sunset? Give give me one piece of advice from my reelection campaign. What would you tell him? I would say a running record tone down the tweets don't punch down to the President United Sates. Nobody cares. Abam had a bigger crowd than use it. At the inauguration. "This is important to find out. I have no doubt that this involves Russia and it was Hillary Clinton and she says has to him before we make this deal. I WANNA make sure how involved with trump as far as the last election. People God's really saving democracy so I WANNA go back to what you said at the beginning of this. which is that? Not only did trump doing wrong in this conversation but it was his responsibility to do what he did. So a lot of Democrats have been saying that the president put his political political interests above US national interests. And what I hear you saying is the president put interest of the United States and American take personal interest. That's what you believe. I'm saying that was his friend who is carrying out a presidential prerogative and presented abrogation. And you really don't think he was primarily driven by. It was in his own political interest. Here I would say he didn't. He didn't talk about corruption. In general in Ukraine the lot corrupt characters in Ukraine rain a lot of corrupt oligarchs. It's pretty endemic. And this was not a request for US or institutional changes to fight corruption. It was about a particular matter that happened to be related to his own. Little Big Manitoba. Well over a million dollars. It did affect the previous administration to the Obama Administration. They knew about it they can do anything about it now. For instance the ambassador. She said when she was being brief her confirmation hearing the State Department was an instructor. Have answer questions about Joe Biden son working for the energy company so they were showing me aware of it so then was the was the president's call perfect subscribed it though. I would say that he should have handled it differently. But I'm just saying it's not impeachable and it's not it's not wrong now and there's always listen anytime you make a farm agent H.. How often you make a foreign policy decision? This primary and secondary effect primaries out the country secondary and maybe close to being primary is to help you so politically. What should he have done differently? I would have said do me a favor. That's his way of talking. But I mean for instance what President Obama me when he leaned over to medved epn said Tell Vladimir after the election. We can have a better deal. Oh we work work things out. I mean that's to me is asking Putin not to be attacking him during the campaign so just to be clear if you had an opportunity to talk to him before he made this call and more advising him. What would you have told him? I would say don't say anything that could be misinterpreted by the media. Oh by your political. which he clearly did he Again I can't give you specific examples. But he says a lot of things with them him that politically incorrect things where he has no reason to trust me or others not to go to the media and get a headline story not anything corrupt. He just says does things that the guy in. Here's drink but he's the guy that they would bosses and yeah but look you know. I think a lot of people when when they read the transcript I mean they saw through it right away that this was to ask about. The Biden's was just something. President Shun Chun and the vice president was all about getting over a million dollars from a corrupt company in a country that we're trying to reform and Joe Biden supposed to be in charge of making sure. The reforms happen. It raises issues. What about the other part of the favor about you know these what he was saying about crowd strike and the missing Dnc Server River and all? Yeah all of which is you know largely debunked conspiracy theories. There's no evidence that there's a missing Democratic National Committee server in Kiev some place or any doubt. I don't think there's any doubt in your mind that it was the Russians who interfered in our election in two thousand sixteen sixteen correct. I mean as far as far as I know emails was Russia. There was some Ukrainian involvement. I'm your political story about how there was some documents. CONCERTED INSERTED GOVERNMENT EFFORT TO AGREE METADATA. Who told him that and again But there's nothing impeachable about that. He's of evidence if it was a somebody in the Ukrainian government. Who's doing that fine? But he wasn't he said. Check it out okay. That was lingering in his mind this well at the same time. He's suspended military military assistance. This country at the time right but but trump had done that he had cut off military sits at just before that phone call. I think a week or so. Oh before you know a lot of people look at that and say yeah if you could tell it was together I mean Brock Obama no the Russian intelligence was giving information to British intelligence to use against president trump and the campaign and at the FBI director is going to use that as a basis to spy for the first time. Ever a presidential campaign. You know you can always tie these things together or when Obama to- Medvedev to tell Vladimir I'm GONNA go Better deals after the election then decides not to supply weapons so Ukraine not Russia back into Syria. You can always make up conspiracy theories I just think president trump could have been more discreet. And how he did it. And but he he is different congressman before the show. You you said you got to lift back on Air Force. One President offer you a ride back plane into DC from New York. What did he say you about this whole impeachment process? What was he thinking about it? And we didn't go into details about the conversation. It was basically that he you did nothing wrong. He's just trying to figure out how the votes would be when what the time schedule would be. It was more of a the assumption of the whole conversation and also Mark Meadows with me. We're on a C.. Went in from the trump tower in the limousine down to the Wall Street heliport took marine one to JFK. And then the ED force one to Washington I'd say only because that's three separate conversations but they all presume that he was innocent and how's it going to work in the House and Senate that I was so we never got into the merits of the case is did he ask you whether you thought That he was lose any Republican votes in the house. He was right then relying on the fact could he not. He kept all Republican votes and use. He seemed fairly optimistic. That he's counting votes. Oh Yeah No. He's here now he's If he follows his stuff very I mean that that's what it was like. A Guy Falls baseball box scores. He knows who's form and WHO's against any given time who maybe against him any time well L. are they're going to be any republican defections. That vote for impeach. You don't know I mean I'm not going to give you. Any names is two or three. That were possible but I think that the we saw. We'll heard walking down the hall a little while ago. Yeah we'll Also again. I want to be hard. I right now. Don't see anyone you one but you know people said maybe possibly two or three only been two or three who before it started showed some concern. Yeah and how about Democrats who might not There were two who voted not to authorize the inquiry. Sorry yeah there's a few more again I don't want to be putting them on the spot but I see fewer possibly again. This is taking such a dimension anyway so I I would think extraordinary pressure on them but I also had a number of Democrats. Come to me not necessarily for good government reasons which we weren't doing this because from districts trump carried or trump has almost be something like a NRA gun vote in that's Republicans are the people who like trump. I Never GonNa Forget if you if you've office impeachment and they just in some of these close to the district's they don't want to have that built in opposition for something that they feel is not that stronger case. We should point out that you are one of the few Republicans who bucks the NRA quite a bit as supporter gun control measures. Yeah I was just trying to think of something when you build again. I have a built in group of pro gun. People who never forgive me I can. I can get a medal for doing something. involving healthcare going facebook took away a second amendment rights in a steal my gun so now I mean it's I think there could be some on the democratic side right who may thirty nine whatever. The number of Democrats was who got elected seats. That trump carried in twenty sixteen. I know that hearing from those those you know those voters now. If a person feel strongly about impeachment I think they were both if they don't think it's such a great idea to go into a now that this was driven by the base and it's going on Logan. They thought they were hoping to get it over Thanksgiving also we should point out. I think you're the only member of Congress who voted against impeachment Bill Clinton case and leaning heavily toward voting against impeachment I WanNa ask you means I'm never wrong. Never Right. Ah Why. Why did you vote against Clinton's impeachment? Again it just didn't rise to the level of impeachment ice set at the time thinking but what a community I mean strip everything else away. The president is undergoing a civil in civil lawsuit being questioned about whether or not he had an affair with someone while he's in office and he's been asked us and if said yes that would have ended his presidency and nothing to do with being president really and I say this is going to come back is going to come back to haunt and a lot of people in could infusing back with what Republicans are doing Clinton at the time can be used against us. I don't see it being the same here but if you get somebody the The president may have had extramarital affairs and if they were under oath how they've answered the question. That's what I thought. It was a bad. So many to me you know these abuses abusers power and that now I don't know if Bill Clinton wouldn't survive today in the metoo movement era but so you were reelected many times after that but after that vote Did you experience the ire of your constituents. I did on the other hand. Bill Clinton had carried my district but it was the the Republicans to this day the day after I announced that I was not running for Congress. Newsday random letters the the first weather they printed was the guy said. This happened twenty years to lady should've left the day. He voted against bill. Clinton took so long memories. People have ah again on both sides all much more likely. Remember a negative..

"Michael Issacov's chief. Investigative correspondent for Yahoo News. And I'm Dan Kleinman Editor in chief of Yahoo the news you know. I suspect that a lot of our listeners cannot comprehend where Republicans are coming from on this impeachment. Debate that watching the hearings. They find them mouthing talking points that seem out of joint with what the evidence is. So you know. I'm been really interested in in hearing king who's usually reasonable guy who can talk talked to members on both sides of the aisle you know who kind of has a certain upbeat optimistic side to him that that seems out of joint in the time we're in how he could come down as such a staunch defender of the president. Yeah it's fascinating and you know as you said he's pragmatic he's like Machine Paul and away comes out of that Nassau County machine and you know that was a era when politicians they could fight and they could fight dirty and they could be partisan but they were also transactional you know. They wanted to get stuff done and so they did deals. They were dealmakers trump right. Yeah and maybe that maybe so you know I imagine that there's probably in some ways some kind of cultural affinities between trump and And King although King I think has working class roots. Not Trump. They do both. I'm from Queens. But it's GonNa be fascinating to hear him. Talk about. Trump is interesting because you know he. He has been a fairly moderate member of Congress but in the trump era like just about all of them. He's been kind of lockstep defending this president. Yeah I I should point out that there is a consistency. See there in the sense that he was one of only five Republicans who voted against impeaching Bill Clinton. So you know this may be as he sees is it part of a larger philosophical framework. The dangers all right impeaching a president and overturning. The results election right. There's one thing thing for standing up for a principal like that. It is another thing if you are defending this president's conduct all the way through you know beyond the question of impeachment so it'll be interesting to see whether he makes any kind of distinctions especially this week when we have some really momentous testimony coming coming up but I think we've all been anticipating Gordon Sunland. Who was the ambassador to the European Union who was trump's guy on the ground around Ukraine? Who was pushing for the investigations into the Biden's supposed Ukrainian interference in the two thousand sixteen election? He he kind of when he first got up there and testified in closed doors. He denied that he was aware of any linkage between the Demand for investigations and the suspension of military aid. He had to amend his testimony once but then we got this. Even more damning testimony testimony from David Holmes. The State Department official who was there in the Kiev restaurant when Sunlen gets the phone call from President President Trump and then tells everybody there. President trump doesn't give a shit about the Ukraine. But he does care about those investigations. Negations into the Biden's yeah. I love that detail and that quote because it seems to be somewhat at odds with a lot of the Republican talking talking points from last week's hearings in which they said well. That phone call was all about corruption. The president wants to investigate corruption because corruption in Ukraine part of one of his foreign policy. Goals that we clean up all those corrupt countries That surround Russian Federation. I also love the fact that at least as reported in the New York Times that sunland actually held up the phone in this Ukrainian restaurant for everyone to listen to what Ed trump was saying. It's just a great image. Yesterday he is he is at least up to now Silane is the pivotal witness in this investigation. According to a national security official. WHO's also testified? This week to Morrison Samland spoke to trump about all of this for as many as six six six times. And you know the thing that we don't know is what those direct conversations between trump and silent were about and whether trump trump directed sunland to deliver the quid pro quo to the Ukrainians which silent has said that he delivered at the sidelines of of a meeting in Warsaw in September first but we have not heard testimony about how that came to be and whether it was a direct order from trump That will be a bombshell Alif. If that we should David Holmes the State Department official who was there in Kiev restaurant who heard the phone call. Who heard what song and said after the phone call is is going to be testifying at the end of the week after Sunland so That will be pretty gripping as well but let's get right to Our guest for for the day. Peter King Okay. We are here so now with Congressman Peter King of Long Island who just announced after fourteen terms. He's not going to be running for re election in Congressman. Welcome to skulduggery Michael Great to see you again. Good to be here so let's start out. Why are you leaving the house now? It was a tough decision mainly unle. It ended up being family anytime. Politician says `specially indicted or something some pictures going to appear basically. I'm not a big vacation occasion guy and I've been down here twenty years. You know. Twenty eight years four days a week and I spend most of my time children grandchildren and my daughter and my daughter-in-law two minutes my house. So that was a good part of my life and she found out in September she and her husband and the kids have to move to North Carolina and so and also also she was in politics. I was in politics. We used to conspire and collude together. And that sort of kept us going and I guess the tipping point came when when I was trying to make Christmas reservations to visit my grandchildren. I can't do it because we have no idea when we're getting out. It was December twelve minutes the twentieth dollars. Because you're going to be voting on impeachment peach mint and also the timing that to go to government shutdown in the twenty first. That's when the government's GONNA run out of funding. So I I mean that's no problem to anybody else and who cares. You can't get a plane ticket home. I figured after twenty eight years I should be able to go see my grandchildren so that just convinced me. It's going to be just more of that over the next three years because I I would expect here reelected next year so anyway just personal decision. I felt it's been more time. Have more freedom of movement. I am seventy five. Maybe seventy nine at the end of my next term but actually my wife is in good health so I wanted to take advantage of it and go on to great things. I'm not going to retire from the world of life and soon a get a job. Maybe several jobs see what I can do. Stay active so congressman. We're GONNA get to impeachment We just mentioned. I guess golf mentioned second ago but before just one follow up on this which is a lot of members of Congress when they retire. They say they want spend more time with their family. But some of them also say that they're leaving in part because of what's going on in Washington the partisanship that nasty tone and it's just not as fun and edifying as it used to be. Is that any part of your calculation for leaving now. No I really wasn't in being in the minority in either. I mean all these things you love to have an easy life down here where both parties love each other and we had a solid majority and they'd be champion of all these committees. He's no I To me just being here it was it was the majority or the minority. Obviously one is better than the other but both emigrate no. That wasn't I met I I never took any of this stuff that personally anyway. As far as whether some guy likes me doesn't like me or whether the yelling easier we can get more done if there was more tranquility but that was not a reason one of the reasons we WANNA talk to. You is because you are one of the few. Moderate Republicans left. At least. That's been your image over the years I'm sitting here in your office. I see pictures of Bill Clinton Richard Nixon George Bush Barack Obama. You're a guy who clearly has gotten along with and worked with people on all sides yet. We are in this polarized moment right now which a lot of people blame on president trump and see him as a exceedingly polarized figure. We want to understand because you have have defended the president on the Ukraine allegations. You've indicated you have no intention of voting for his impeachment or based on what. Yeah so I think we want to understand a little bit. You know how somebody with your moderate record has come down where where you have in defending president trump yeah and really is suspending. The constitution same reason. I voted against bill. Clinton's impeachment to me and this is really a traditionalist I Is the reason that we went from seventeen ninety two to one thousand nine hundred eight. That's what I'm used to track soon six years without having a successful impeachment and even then you still have your hat a success right. So He's Andrew Johnson in eighteen sixty six and then then. Yeah Yeah Bill Clinton. So it's two in over two hundred years and to me. This is the nuclear option. This is the death sentence to undoing election. Which really is the highlight of democracy is certainly an odd? Because we're not a parliamentary system. The country comes together. VOTRE president to undo that you need more than Dan Sexually Oval Office and you need more than a phone calls. I think was appropriate anyway but he is not a basic you really think the phone call was appropriate. It was okay to ask. Ask a foreign leader to launch an investigation of your political rival Joe Biden. I would make the argument that it was almost responsibility to do with the fact. That Biden is an opponent is SP secondary as president. If you'll giving aid to weigh a country which has been rooted in corruption and where there's been allegations especially energy companies being involved in corruption. And you have the fact that To make sure there is no corruption and you know there was significant evidence. When you have the vice president's son getting over a million dollars basically no show job where he has no experience energy no knowledge of Ukraine at the time when Joe Biden? It's supposed to be investigated. Listen we went almost three years investigating Russia and there was zero evidence of collusion. Everybody's that was appropriate and Hillary Clinton in using a bit of spy the phone information from Russian intelligence you have the FBI and the CIA abusing their powers on collusion. There wasn't on there was far more evidence of a Conduct with Joe Biden was Donald Trump. Right we'll let with Joe Biden himself former vice president did anything table acting in any way evidence. Further his son's interest as opposed to US national security interests and the foreign policy adopted did by the US government Donald Trump because President Obama refused to give weapons to Ukraine and Donald Trump. As we start with that now on this for instance if you other vice president in you know your son is getting a million dollars from a corrupt company in a corrupt country and your job is to root out corruption and you don't do anything about it and raises serious okay mismanaged. It should be investigated an error judgment may be for not do anything. But maybe words investigations but any evidence of wrongdoing by Vice President by the certainly the evidence of conflict of interest. And that's why have investigation find out. How far is that up to the Ukrainian government to invest show? This is a conflict of interest is of interest I by Biden because it's their company company. PRISMA was Ukrainian company. and to me..

"Sergeant at arms will restore order in the gallery. Sergeant. As a. As a reminder to our guests in the galleries expressions of approval or disapproval are not permitted in the Senate calories. The center for Maine. Mr president. Mr President the five previous times that I've come to the floor to explain my vote on the nomination of Justice to the United States Supreme court. I have begun by floor remarks explaining my decision with recognition of the solemn nature and the importance of the occasion. But today, we have come to the conclusion of a confirmation process that has become so dysfunctional, it looks more like a caricature gutter level political campaign. Ben a solemn occasion. The president nominated Brad Kavanagh on July nine within moments of bad announcement special interest. Groups race to be the first to oppose him, including one organization that didn't even bothered to fill in the judge's name on its pre bread impress release. They simply road. That they opposed. Donald Trump's nomination of X. To the supreme court of the United States a number of senators joined the race to announce their opposition. But they were being to the punch by one of our colleagues who actually announced opposition before the nominees. Attentive team was even know. Since that time, we have seen special interest groups with their followers into a frenzy by spreading misrepresentations and outright falsehoods about judge Kavanagh's judicial record over the top rhetoric and distortion set his record and testimony at his first hearing produce short lived headlines, which although two hours later continue to live on NBC spread through social media interest. Groups have also spent an unprecedented amount of dark money opposing this nomination. I'll wear supreme court confirmation process has been in steady decline for more than thirty years. One can only hope that the cavern a- nomination is where the process has finally hit rock bottom. Against this backdrop, it's up to each individual Senator to decide what the constitution said. Vice and consent duty means informed by Alexander Hamilton, federalists seventy six you're listening to you Senator Susan Collins Republican president making her. Sitter at nominee Milosevi. Whereas my duty as Senator is to focus on the nominees qualifications. As long as that nominees philosophy is within the mainstream of judicial. I have always opposed litmus test for judicial nominees with respect to their personal views or politics, but I fully expect them to be able to put aside any and all personal preferences in deciding the cases that come before them. I've never considered the president's sedan or party when valuating supreme court nominations as Sabrina salt. I voted in favor of justices Roberts and Alito. Hoover nominated by President Bush justices, sodium by and keagan nominated by President Obama and Justice scores such who was nominated by President Trump. So I began my valuation of judge cavernous nomination by reviewing his twelve year record on the DC circuit court of appeals, including has more than three hundred opinions and his many speeches and law review articles nine teen attorneys, including lawyers from the nonpartisan Congressional Research Service freaks me many times each week and assisted me in a valuating the judges extensive record I met with judge Cavanaugh off for more than two hours in my office. I listened carefully to the testimony at the committee hearings. I spoke with people who knew him personally such as Condoleeza. Piece of rice and many others. And I talked when judge Cavin a second time by phone for another hour to ask him very specific additional questions. I also have met with thousands of my constituents both advocates and many opponents regarding judge Cavin. One concern that I frequently heard was set the judge would be likely to eliminate the Affordable Care ACT's vital protections for people with preexisting conditions. I disagree with this contention in a descent in seven sky, the holder judge Cavin of rejected a challenge to the ACA on narrow procedural grounds per serving the law in fall, many experts have said that his descent informed, Justice Roberts opinion, upholding the at the supreme court. Furthermore, judge Cabanillas approach toward the doctrine of separate -bility is narrow when a part of a statute is challenged on constitutional grounds. He has argued for severing the invalid clause as surgically as possible while allowing the overall law to remain intact. This was his approach in his descendant. A case said involved a challenge to the structure of the consumer financial protection bureau in his dissent. Judge Cavin a- argued for quote severing any trap Matic portions well, leaving the remainder intact, and quote, given the current challenges to the ACA proponents, including myself protections for people with preexisting conditions should want to Justice who would take just this kind of pro. Another assertion that. I heard up, and is that judge cavenaugh cannot be trusted if a case involving alleged wrongdoing by the president were to come before the court. The basis for this argument seems to be two fold. I judge Cavanaugh has written that he believes said congress should enact legislation to protect presidents from criminal prosecution or civil liability while in office. Mr president. I believe opponents missed the Mark on this issue. The fact that judge cabin offered. This legislative proposal suggests that the police that the president does not have such protection current light. Second. There's some who argued that given the Kurds special counsel investigation. President Trump should not even be allowed to nominate a Justice that argument ignores our recent history, President Clinton in nineteen ninety three nominated Justice Ginsburg after the whitewater investigation was already underway. And she was confirmed ninety six to three the next year just three months after independent counsel. Robert Fisk was named to lead the whitewater investigation, President Clinton nominated Justice briar. He was confirmed to eighty seven to nine. Supreme court justices have not hesitated to rule against the presidents who have nominated them perhaps most notably in the United States versus Nixon three Nixon appointees who heard the case. Join the unanimous opinion against him. Judge cabinet has been unequivocal in his belief that no president is above the law. He has stated that Marbury versus Madison Youngstown steel versus Sawyer and the United States versus Nixon art, three of the four greatest supreme court cases indicate story. Why do they have in common? Each of them is a case where congress served as a check on presidential power. And I would note that the fourth case the judge Cavin has pointed to as some the greatest sin history was Brown versus the board of education. One Cavanaugh dissension ills traits the point about a check on president power directly. He wrote the opinion in Hamdan versus the United States case that challenged the Bush administration's military commission prosecution of an associate of Osama bin Laden, Fisk conviction was very important to the Bush administration. But judge Cavin quit been appointed to the DC circuit by President Bush and had worked in President Bush's White House ruled that the conviction was unlawful as displaying during the hearing, quote, we don't make decisions based on who people are or their policy preferences, or at the moment we based sessions. On the low end quote. Others. I've met with have expressed concerns said Justice Kennedy's retirement threatens the right of same sex couples to marry yet judge Cavin described the Oberg of Pell's decision, which legalized same gender marriages as an important landmark precedent. He also cited Justice Kennedy's recent masterpiece, caged cake shop opinion for the court's majority stating that, quote, the days of trading, gay and lesbian Americans are gay lesbian couples as second class citizens who are inferior in dignity and worth are over in the supreme court and. Others have suggested that the judge hold six streams few some birth control. In one case judge cabinet incurred, the disfavor both sides of the political spectrum for seeking to ensure the availability of contraceptive services for women while minimizing the involvement of employers with religious objections, although his critics frequently overlooked, this point judge Cabanillas dissent rejected arguments set for government did not have a compelling interest. In facilitating access to contraception impact. He wrote that the supreme court precedent strongly suggested that there was a compelling interest IMP Acilitator access to birth control. There is also been considerable focus on the future of abortion rights based on the concern that judge Kaverner would seek to overturn Roe v. Wade protecting this right is important to me. To my knowledge. Judge Cavanaugh is first supreme court nominee to express the view that precedent is not merely a practice and tradition but rooted in article three of our constitution itself. He believes set precedent is not just a judicial policy. It is constitutionally dictated to pay attention and pay he to rules of precedent. In other words, precedent isn't a goal or an aspiration. It is a constitutional tenant that has to be followed except in the most extrordinary circumstances. The judge further explained that president provide stability, predictability, reliance and fairness. There are of course, rare and extraordinary times where the supreme court put rightly overturn a precedent. The most famous example was when the supreme court in Brown versus the board of education over rolled Plessey versus for Ferguson correcting a grevious asleep wrong decision to use the judge's term allowing racial inequality, but someone who believes that the importance of president has been rooted in the constitution would follow long established precedent, except in those rare circumstances where a decision is grievously wrong or deeply inconsistent with the law. Those are judge Kavanagh's Frances as the judge should started. To me along established precedent? It's not something to be trimmed narrowed discarded or overlook its roots in the constitution gives the concept of starry decisive greater way, such the president can't be trimmed or narrowed simply because the judge might want to one of women insured, his views on honoring precedent would Chris clued attempts to do by stealth that which one has committed not to do over. Noting that Roe v. Wade was decided forty years forty five years ago, and reaffirmed nineteen years later in Planned Parenthood versus Casey, I asked judge Cavanaugh whether the passage of time is relevant to following precedent. He said decisions become part of our legal framework with the passage of time, and that honoring precedent is essential to maintaining public confidence. Our discussion then turn to the right of privacy. I'm which the supreme court relied in Griswold versus Connecticut. A case that struck down a law banning the use and sale of contraception. Griswold established the legal foundation that led to row eight years later. In describing griswald as settled law. Judge Cavin observe that. It was the correct application of two famous cases from the nineteen twenties Meyer and peers better not seriously challenged by anyone today finally in his testimony. He noted repeatedly that Rowe had been upheld by Planned Parenthood versus Casey, describing it as precedent on precedent. When I asked him what a piece sufficient overturn of long established precedent, if five current justices believed that it was wrongly decided he in paddock said, no. Opponents frequently say, then candidate Donald Trump's campaign pledge to nominate only judges who would overturn roam the Republican platform for all presidential campaigns has included this pledge since at least nineteen eighty during this time presidents Republican presidents have appointed justices O'Connor suitor and Kennedy to the supreme court fees that very three justices Republican president appointed justices who authored Casey decision, which reaffirmed Roe. Furthermore, pro choice groups vigorously oppose each of these justices nominations incredibly they even circulated buttons. With the slogan. Stop suitor or women will. Just two years later just as suitor coworker, Casey opinion, reaffirming a woman's right to choose. Suffice. It to say prominent advocacy organizations have been wrong..
