Fresh update on "mix" discussed on KC O'Dea Show

"And let's just go ahead and throw this into the mix. The Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada has decided to host its first ever drag queen show. The 99th air base wing, hosted the first ever drag show This happened already has happened last Thursday. Now why? Because quote Allowing it to happen, according to officials is essential to the morale and military readiness. How is that? Now. Here's the thing. Your This is a facility that is on the base. The Nellis Club, which is essentially facility where acts are brought in. Things are done, so I don't know. Maybe there was overwhelming demand for a Drag queen show. But since there are certain sexual overtones to that, I guess my question would be They bring it on the Ping Pong. Check What's going on? That's a woman who plays Ping Pong. Get your minds out of the gutter. Just plays it differently. So what? What passes is acceptable level there, and I guess I don't know the answer to it. Um And my other question is How does that provide for morale and military readiness? Your better argument would be you know what we do shows at the club and there's a show we're doing So whatever. But I think making that larger argument is probably what irritated some people. That Means said. I've never been on the Air Force base. They can do whatever they want. And are very near the aliens. So you would think that they could have some kick ass shows if they really wanted to. Don't you think for a moment if you're able to sit there, and you have essentially, that's where your re and you know your reverse engineering all the technology. That could provide for some significantly better show opportunities. Everyone's writing me saying that they use species first, but they've always used it sarcastically. I know we made the joke on the show. Absolutely. You're a species. That's all that is of That is now a true thing. So You have to. You have to come to terms with Dad. As you're going through the day today tweeted out the story and you look at it. It's just as crazy as you think it is. You simply can't parody these people. Yes, you can until they catch up. By the way, say Siegel on air again. Always your you don't say gold, you say goal. What Ross is looking at me like I'm crazy. Wait. How do you say it? Winged rat. I've never noticed. You say it weird Siegel satisfying to me. Uh, Siegel. Now you see advertisement weird. Advertisement. Weird. That's not how you normally say They're saying that because I say you say, how do you say you say, Uh, advertisement? Very Smith. Yeah. That's weird. It's not weird. Bizarre. Yeah, it is. That's one way to say the bolts are both are acceptable. I'm not saying you're wrong. You're more wrong than I am. But I'm saying your role completely. No, no, that's your opinion. But your butcher wrong advertisement. It's one of the Your red coat. As far as you're like a loyalist, it's weird. Well, I am waiting for them, say aluminum. Value. Many, um it's bizarre. No, I just made that up the aluminum Advertisement is not strictly a British thing. What did I see? Um I was trying to figure I was trying to figure out something on a on a You know what I got. I have to pull it up if I'm going to do it, because I won't do it, Justice Somebody was very concerned to know why the in the UK they speak English and not one of the European languages. It was my faith. Well, I'm butchering dead. I'm butchering. But that was that was essentially the crux of it. We are surrounded by idiots everywhere. I think it was like Cora or something. I mean the one thing the pandemic in my opinion has really shown in the past year and a half of so many cowards are around us and then the stupid people around us like they just don't think for themselves at all. You knew that we were surrounded by stupid people. Not to this extent, though. I mean, it's it's really pointed out. Yeah, There's a lot of what do they speak English in England? They didn't saying when they say they said, Why do they speak to say or why do they speak American and not one of the? Yeah, I told you I wasn't gonna do it. Justice if I didn't have it in front of me. And that's good. I'd like to think what we kicked their asses out of here. That's our language now, too, right? Yeah, we made it hard. We're gonna take that. Yeah, Thanks. Thanks. Go back and learn French or Dutch or something. We'll talk soon, Not really. But by Yeah, but the way to set up in the way that it was. The question was just breathtaking. So I guess I have to find that. Okay. Alright. 8889347874 everybody excited about elf ears because that's a thing. That's the thing you need to know about. And what is the state of California doing sitting in a setting themselves up for something even more horrendous? I'll explain Next. Hang on. The Importance of Photography Workshops

"I've been an advocate of attending a photographic workshop. For as long as i can remember. Maybe because i had such terrific experiences in workshops but i also think that they offer quite a bit that simply cannot be replicated with youtube videos and online instruction and etc part of that is of course the ability to just hang out with your peers with people who were as dedicated about photography's you are with instructors but i think when it gets right down to it one of the most valuable things that happens in a workshop are the unexpected questions that you develop once you're there and here's an example in one of the very first workshops that i ever did. I went to yosemite for a workshop. That was being taught by bruce. Birnbaum john sexton and ray mix savvy as part of the owens valley photography workshops. I went because i wanted some honest feedback in my work. I'd spent months preparing stack of prince toned. Spotted matted to the very best of my abilities and i was kind of looking for some sort of assessment where i was in the photographic process. That was my reason for going and ended up being the least important thing that i gathered from that workshop. The most important thing came in the form of a field session now feel sessions are not often the most productive thing that happens in a photographic workshop. Because you don't go to a workshop to make photograph you go to a workshop to learn something but nonetheless. It seems like every photographic workshop includes field sessions and in this field session. We were at a particular location that had a small creek and we were all supposed to find a photograph compose it set up our cameras etc and then the instructors were gonna come around and look through our camera an offer some comments about what we had seen in composed. I found my subjects set up. My view camera made my composition and not long afterwards. Bruce birnbaum came up as the first of the instructors. Who's going to take a look at my field composition. He didn't even look through the camera. He didn't look at viewfinder. he didn't do anything he walked up and he said why. Have you composed this image. Certainly an innocent enough question but one that really got me thinking. He didn't wanna know how i was going to expose it or what. My thinking was relative to you. Know rule of thirds or anything like that. He didn't question my bangel in position. He asked

Masterful Pimento Cheese

"Cheese is a type of sandwich spread that can include. It can include many things but but at its base. It's shredded cheese and chopped pimento peppers and some kind of creamy binder To to create a thick and slightly chunky. But yelich just spreadable consistency. So let's let's break that down The cheese is often a shredded short age semi hard tangy cheese like Often a blend of white and orange cheddars and or similar cheeses like colby or jack or even processed cheeses like velveeta the pimentos. These are usually jarred or canned sweet peppers. Which will have been up healed and cooked No seeds yep. Mentos are a type of sweet pepper. That turned just bright orangey red when they're ripe whereupon they are sweet and just a tiny bit tangy like like little to no bitterness vegetal flavors in there You can also use pickled peppers or a roast your own sweet peppers of whatever variety you choose a the binder is yes often mayo often dukes brand towards the east coast and blue plate brand a more towards like louisiana sometimes cream cheese may be involved as well and right. You generally wanna use enough to stick everything together but not enough to like make a sandwich kinda soggy or drippy right also. Most people will say that you don't wanna over mix the ingredients. It'll get kind of mushy. Which isn't the idea somehow trying to go through my rolodex of Experienced it can can vary pretty widely and speaking of to this base. Any number of seasonings may be added a salt and pepper onion powder or freshly grated onion or green onions or garlic to sheer sauce. Hot sauce apple cider vinegar lemon juice paprika cayenne pepper chili powder chili sauce like a saracho horseradish mustard. It can also feature kind of like guest star mixon's like jalapenos or fresh sweet pepper dill pickles. Bacon smoked gouda blue cheese. Parmesan toasted pecans chopped olives. I've seen one recipe call for per pseudo. Though right.

The margins aren't there for sustainable business. Usually and so we thirty percent margins for thirty dollars bucks whereas a typical hager company will have like seventy to ninety percent margins for the same price for one bottle. "I bring to you. Professional poker player coach. And podcast host jared smith jared. Welcome back to the podcast sir. Hi ben man. Good how about you. I've been doing very well keeping busy. I guess we'll start by. Ask him what have you been up to. Since last time we talked just fokker obviously been playing a lot more live. Actually more live cash than Navy since last time we talked. We were smack dab dab in the middle of the most extreme part of the pandemic so had been kinda locked down stuck in the house Pretty much just playing online tournaments Every day trying to make sunshine's can have that feeling where online poker is so good that everybody was gonna allow these recreational players that were home because of covid. We're gonna run out of money soon. And some of the sites are kind of bleeding dry in my opinion with some of the schedule in guarantees everything. So that's kind of where it was dan a since then everything in vegas. Everything's opened up a whole lot. More and ton of people been here lately so given it was on the strip last night and just on a monday night was just pretty much packed. You know kind of back the old vegas so to speak so You know it's been really good but it it just pretty much. Been playing a lot of live cash in occasional venetian venetian and win tournaments and such and then Just one us circuit ring online. Last sunday congrats man congrats. Why the live cash games streets and not the live tournament Live tournaments fairmount. Those kind of my that was kind of bread and butter. I mix between live tournaments and online tournaments for the most part. But i've actually been pretty down slaying online mostly. I wouldn't call it a big downswing in live tournaments. But i just hadn't really done too much since the since the i tournaments can i came back so in those can add up a lot quicker other just the the lower end binds are are higher than the barbarians. You know the higher end by that. I play online. Of course even like a four hundred live is like a low buying soft tournament. And i really don't play for a play much over to fifteen to twenty five or something on sunday itself had been kind of going on down swing so it's pretty hard to downswing in. Live one three into five cash people ages. They're like literally giving it away. I mean you you can do it. You can down so you can run. Bad variance will will get you. But it's it's you don't win when your win rate is is something absurd and i'm not even super i'm not even very good at cash. I would say. But i was still winning it some somewhere in the neighborhood of forty to fifty dollars an hour in a one three to five combines so it was an adjusted make sure keeps him steadying going to pay the bills and everything in this kind of play tournaments to trinh make more

What Is the State of the Commercial Aviation Industry

"So let's dive into it. We're Most of the way through the conference this week. We've heard a lot. It's been a couple of days. A lot of presentations. Lots of people talking. I wanna start with a general feeling as to what the state of the commercial aviation industry is from what you're hearing if you choose one or two words. What would you say is the zeitgeist here. Ron yeah i. I'd say optimistic You know the one statistic that kind of jumps out to me is. There's took broad consensus that the industry could be back to twenty nine hundred air traffic levels by late. Twenty two mid twenty three something like that's where you know. The consensus here seems to be too depending on the platform depending on the market that kind of thing but a general optimism richer. What do you think yeah. you know. Strong agreement cautious optimism. We've never seen such a profound bifurcation between unprecedented traffic drops by the economy holding up. But usually they kind of travel he economic disaster coupled with traffic disaster. Here we only had one Bizarrely enough so i think is a feeling that is things returned to life so we'll degrade machine that is the industry can. What do you think about what the crowd here is thinking. I think bifurcation the word richard use and stole was going to use that word but but it is clear that there's a bifurcation between domestic international travel so when we talk about our peak as coming back. That's the mix. But i think i think the theme is that domestic travel is going to recover much faster. Us and china domestic travels fifty five percent of all domestic arba gays and In our in domestic travel is going to be back probably twenty twenty two and that probably underpinned some of the announced since we've seen from airbus about rate increases.

Marking Your Territory, Elderberries, and Hydrangea Color

"Think we should start out with true or false ellen. It is about peeing in the garden to keep critters away. I have very mixed feelings about this. I have used predator urine in my garden in pennsylvania. I don't know if did a darn bit of good. I really don't but i'll tell you it smelled pretty darn bad. So if i were a bunny or a deer. I would not have gone near that stuff. It's interesting that We're starting with predator urine. Because i have very strong feelings about this and that is i cannot believe that this is collected in a humane way new. And you can't find any. They will not tell you how it's like. Well how it has to be as collected is they have to keep the coyotes or these fox in little pens with wire floors so that when they urinate goes down into a trough or something so it can't possibly be a humane thing so i am not in favor of using predator urine in the garden. Unless you're encouraging the coyotes and the to hang out and peeing your garden. Naturally that i'm all in favor of. I use the fox here in once i started looking into says this can't be good. This cannot be good but there are also people who will. Pd the borders of their garden in hopes of keeping deer and bunnies away. And i've read mixed things about this but well. i think i wouldn't encourage anybody to urinate too close to their vegetable garden or or things that you're going to eat that just kinda makes good sense that you don't want to bring you know harm on yourself in terms of bacteria tetra. "Ellison. What an honor and privilege to meet you to talk to you and to hear you a nasal story so part cost today. Thank you so much. It's truly mutual and honored to be here as well thank you. I'm a great fan of yours. I watched you in. You're a little girl and in movies you've done and you've got such a phenomenal story. Would you mind share you story with the audience. Yes sure. I began working in entertainment at six years old and it was a fulltime job. You could say. It was a combination of training and learning about the craft also embarking on the industry side of things so meeting with agencies and having representatives and going on these auditions and it was a very reoccupying all consuming endeavor that ended up up rooting my entire family from ohio. All the way to the other side of the country to las angeles. And you know there's a mixed way of interpreting this because in many ways i was very very fortunate to have experienced quite a significant amount of success. Early on you could call it. Which is the psychological impact the developmental impact when you're removed from normal socialization. And when you're no longer in academic settings and you're you're learning a lot of different patterns that deeply embed themselves and and and give you a sense of reality that's quite skewed from the quote unquote normal. So it's been a multi layered experience but it's the story that i have to work with so here. We are turning turning everything we can into something purposeful. I love it and you've become a huge mental health advocate and just before we began. You made a very interesting comments about helping others in two different states one way you still proceeding through and one way you sort of proceed through now you moving into that other side. Can you talk about this. Because i found it really stinks. Yes as i'm meeting with a lot of different folks in the space were discussing the advocacy at hand for child actors child performers in terms of labor laws in terms of mental health practitioners on sets etc etc. I'm noticing that of course everyone is at different stages of their own healing and process. And you know some like to bring their pain into their advocacy because it's it's the passion it's the spark it's the fire that that really keeps them going

Immune Boosting, Is It a Bust?

"Can you boost your immune system. Yeah what pitting facts against fighting off infections and this idea that we can pop a pill to boost our immune system. It started exploding during the early days of the pandemic. Tim caufield professor of public health at the university of alberta canada was watching as old took off. It was in the air. You know this idea of immune boosting it was just part of the gestalt own remain so and is the pandemic got worse and worse s s idea grew and grew and it felt like products to boost the immune system was suddenly everywhere. Especially as we've seen all over social media. And tim wanted to know what exactly was the stuff that was getting touted all over the internet so he did what any self respecting academic would do and he started scrolling instagram. And i really did i. I went through hundreds and hundreds of post day for work at the lab for you is getting a coffee and scrolling instagram. And you know. I wish i could say it was it was fancier but that's what i did team and he's tame systematically trolled instagram looking for the trending posts labeled with the hashtag immune booster and there was a lot of the stuff that you'd expect so called superfoods vitamins herbs. Were in the mix too i i saw supplements remain a vitamin d to Zinc and obviously vitamin c. Ginger elderberry echinacea saw a lot of smoothies a lot of smoothies out there and of course all they came with a healthy dose of that influence holier vibe. Tim talked about it without producer. Rose ramllah let me see like the instagram post. The mother of all immune boost instagram posts voted like it would definitely be someone sitting on the beach. Our in the forest they would be in a yoga pose foreshore. They would have a smoothie by the their side asset limits in one hand and magical berries in the other

How I Made It: Kali Uchis

"Since i was a kid i always loved. Oldies always loved music. That was like very dreamy. I used to do covers a lot of spanish songs. Like eh forget there is by janette and soured me the book. Yes osama says it done does a lot of my earlier music was because i didn't know how to produce. It was literally just samples. I've like the blackbirds literally. All my songs were of these. That i loved so definitely played a huge influence on the artists. I am today. The beginning of breaking into the industry was definitely just. When i've got my first laptop. I wanted to make documentaries in colombian i wanted to make art films and i always love making music and writing as well so i wanted to make music that accompanied there so i guess that was how i started the journey of like putting together my first little mix tape i maybe songs really quickly and i just put it out on like a website called opinion at the time and i put out these little videos that had been making it started just getting a lot of shares between people who had been around much longer than me making music mish longer than me and were very established in the industry so it was kind of embarrassing for me actually. After i realized that so many people were sharing it. I took it down off the internet. I couldn't have been eighteen because i graduated early. And i think it was my graduation year. I might have even been like seventeen going on eighteen at the time. I just was like if something that i literally made. Just messing around could get so much attention. Let me try to actually make some music. If you plus y'all yup
