"The Chargers. I would say not exactly the best secondary in the world, so maybe I'll have a big day and get over 1000 yards Saturday for you on this football game. Actually, I was just checking something, cause I didn't know the answer. Now I have it, but I'll give you a question. See if you guys know it. Saturday. By the way brought you by Skyworks, the official equipment rental company of the Buffalo Bills. Special teams has not been a good area for the charges This year. They're ranked in the bottom. Third of most of the key cast saw this and it is mind blowing. Okay, this Okay, then maybe you have a different stat, because when I have, I don't think it's necessarily mind blowing. But whatever. Let's give it a shot. They've had a punt blocked in three of their last five games. That's mind blowing ou. Okay? How many punch clocks do you think there are in a season? I don't even know I would've guessed one. All right, well league they've had it in back to back games, the last two games they've played and three of their last five. So heads up their special teams. Well, shaky. So it's lead, which led to this question. Jeremy and Brayton backs you Break knows the answer because I just told him So maybe think. Hey, When was the last time the bills blocked a punt? Oh, boy, Right, Andy Jason Peters. I did the same thing. No more recent. In fact. The guy who blocked the punt the last time the bills blocked a punt is still on the roster. He is a defensive player. We heard from him in one of the bumps already this morning in these 6 30 bump, I believe itwas Jerry who's blocked upon, huh? 2016 at Seattle. Don't recall the plan funded by football. Yeah, With that Been the roughing the kicker That was never called game. I don't know. I guess so. Yeah, that's that's Yeah, that is the game. Yes, we've been was a carpenter Dan Carpenter, and I believe it was Richard Sherman Natural. So that's the last time the bills blocked upon Jerry. He was in Seattle 2016. So there's my status the day watch out for special teams because it has been a problem area for the Chargers this season, if if, if the bills that had three punts blocked in a season. Not just five games three and five games. That is incredible. I guess I'm glad then it's mind blowing. I didn't. I didn't put enough significance into the stat. I wonder how many there are each year. I mean, clearly, teams teams can go years without blocking one since the Bills haven't done it since 2016 and you can also go. I assume a long time without having one blocked, although Last year. New England, Of course, blocked the bills. Punt. That was the last time Devils had a pump locked in the game here against the Patriots. So there you go. Adolf 305 50 to join us. We're talking bills charges with you. How confident are you in this game on Sunday. And we know what's at stake when to make sure you stay ahead of the Miami Dolphins, who will play the Jets on Sunday. And don't forget The next two games for the Bills are Chargers and Steelers. The next two games for the Dolphins are Jets and Bangles Without Joe Borrow. And it's not Ryan family right brain. Did you say Who are they? Starting A quarterback is not Finlay, Brandon Allen, Brandon Allen, Former Denver Bronco is I guess going to start starting in Bill's last year and lost 20 to 3. So perhaps the Dolphins when the next couple of games ate all three old 5 50 to join us 8885 52 5 50. When we get back sounds gonna be with us. We'll break down the bills charges match up and more coming up. It is MNT bills..

She then attended rutgers university where she received her masters degree in clinical social work with an emphasis in mental and behavioral health gabrielle served as a mental health counselor and she did her internship at the immediate care psychiatric center in parsippany new jersey. Gabrielle is a licensed social worker and currently works at the counseling center in middlesex. New jersey as a substance use and mental health therapist. Gabriel welcome to our podcast ink spread. I'm happy to be here My name's gabriel ferrara. I'm really honored to be on your podcast. Thank you for having me. Well you're welcome. Thank you for being on the podcast. I know that a lot of our listeners are going to get a lot from you today. A lot of things going on especially in the last six months i mean. You've you've graduated with your masters degree. You started a new job. You got engaged. Congratulations thank you. Thank you and you actually have your first blog post on psychology today so a lot of exciting things in the last six months It's been an exciting time. So let's go ahead and get right into it. I kinda wanted to open up the floor for you and ask you. Tell me a little bit more about yourself. Other than what that introduction. You know what i did with the introduction for all of our audience members yes so i mean you covered it pretty well introduction. But i'm from new jersey born and raised. I'm currently still living. Where i grew up in marseilles town Just getting into the field of social work and starting my career in my free time. I have a adorable little rescue dog that keeps me busy and keeps me on my toes. So yeah i mean. I just happy to be here talking about my experience and my rite aid and My my career at this point. We'll good good i. How did you actually decide to get your bachelor of arts and psychology and criminology. What made you decide to go that route so it's actually a funny story. I started college as a pre med neuroscience major and then i realized that there was a lot of science and math involved in that that i was not interested in so i but i still really had a passion for mental health in the brain and all that stuff so the next logical step seemed to go into seem to be to go into psychology so i switched my major psychology and began taking some courses and saw that there was an overlap between mental health and the criminal justice system and some of those common themes among the two fields and so i added a criminology degree as well and of combine the two and got to see some of the overlap and it was an incredible combination of studies and field work and just a really good overall experience. Based on our research on the website we are seeing more of the that overlap with criminology and psychology or and more of those Psychologists are needed in the criminal justice system as well. So it's interesting that you chose that route You know the next follow up. Question is what is you know. At what point did you come up with the idea of becoming a therapist. Yeah so that is something that didn't stand out to me at first. I wasn't really sure what i want to do. With my psychology and criminology degree. I considered going into the fbi. Some sort of police criminal justice work and then ultimately subtle settled. It's not the right word. But i made the decision to be therapist and go into clinical work based on my own experience in therapy. And i think we're gonna get into that a little bit later but my own experience in therapy and my good dot experiences with different therapists really motivated me to want to get back. Beat up person for someone else. Because i've had very good therapist and are not so great therapists over the years. Not just kind of comes with the territory but it really motivated me to want to continue studying psychology understanding it understanding people and being a person for others to connect with the actually interesting that you brought that up. If you don't mind i'm gonna go ahead and share my screen. And i'm going to share one thing with you and the audience and i liked your tagline here and you should see the psychology today website here in. Here's your most recent blog post. Why showing emotion as a therapist is okay sometimes and if you notice on the left side. Your tag is gabrielle. Ferrera therapist who sees therapist. Tell us a little bit more about that and how you came up with that idea. Yeah so. I actually got that idea from a book. I read earlier this year. I think i've been late last year. Actually and it was a book by lori gottlieb. she's a psychotherapist and author and also as speaker and she has a memoir called. Maybe you should talk to someone. And in that memoir she about her own experience as a therapist and also her time that she spent going to therapy and that book really resonated with me and it was the first time that i had connected so deeply with a therapist who also goes to therapy themselves. And i knew that a lot of therapists go to therapy. And it's something that were encouraged to do in grad school but reading. That book really made me feel like it was something normal and it was something nachos normal but an asset it was a strength to be in therapy myself and also be on the other side being in that helping possession.

Mike McCarthy motivated Cowboys by having them smash watermelons before win against Vikings

"Mike mccarthy has been looking for ways to motivate his cowboys and clearly. All options are on the table. For example. This one mccarthy pulled out a sledgehammer ahead of sunday's game started smashing watermelons allah gallagher. Anyone remembers who that was and why he did it all in an effort to get his team fired up and it worked. They won right. They beat the vikings also watermelon great source of hydration but very high in sugar brandon smashing watermelons before their win over. The vikings is blank. I love it and obviously it works. It reminds me of my time with the miami dolphins. Tony's no we're we started out and six. We know that that one we walk into the team meeting room. He said everybody outside. We all go outside sunny. South florida eighty nine degrees. He walks out to the fifty yard. Line off to the sideline. He starts digging a hole. He takes the ball. He throws it in there. He said that is our season now. We're moving forward. We go off and we win the next game. So maybe adam gays and the jets and do something like this. Julin Castro, a 2020 presidential contender, on why Joe Biden beat him and Trump

"Secretary hulan castro. Thank you very much for coming on the podcast with you before we get to the topic that we are here to talk about what i wanted to talk about. You want to talk about. And that is the latino vote in twenty twenty. We gotta talk about the biden transition and what you're in for. Do you wanna go back into a presidential administration. But that's his decision. Of course it's his decision. Yeah but. I've said that i'm open to that. I haven't taken anything off the table. Have anything on the table. I haven't had any conversations with the transition team with with the president-elect about that. But the thing that i do know and i can tell already from the names that have been put out there for different positions. Is that the team. He's assembling spectacular one. And it's going to be so much more competent effective than what we've seen over the last four years it goes without saying you know for years ago. Donald trump promised everybody that he would surround himself with the best people and then couldn't be that could have been further from the truth. Joe biden is actually surrounding himself with some of this people out there. Whether it's the folks were up for treasury or a g or any number physicians. And so whether i'm part of that or not what. I have confidence in what matters most to people is that these are going to be very competent. Effective folks okay. I'm going to continue to put you on the spot. And in president obama's administration in the second term you were the secretary of housing and urban development. So let's just take that off the table. When i go back to to where you were before dream job dream scenario. Just forget that. Joe biden kamla. Harris are gonna be the next president vice president of the united states. What would be the dream job. In a presidential administration. I was running for president. Of course they make good people. I would do hampshire saw otherwise and rightly so in twenty. But yeah i mean. I'm going to leave all of those conversations to the transition team. That's uniquely decision. And so i feel like i'm going to continue to use my voice in any way that i can on the issues and the vision that i pressed forward in the presidential campaign. A lot of that vision is shared. I think with adults Biden and vice president-elect terrorists but was find a way to serve anyway. I can't even if it's only in according break candidates for office up down the ballot which i was happy to do in twenty twenty so transportation there Yeah there any of those roles for people that are interested in public service or great role all right and then i was only pressing on labor and transportation. And you didn't give me a chance to keep going down the list. Because i mean let's not forget. Therefore you ran for president. Before secretary of housing and urban development. You were a mayor. Yeah yeah you were the mayor of san antonio. So it's not. It's not out of the realm of the possible that those two agencies would be something of interest may be an ambassadorship. The world food program in rome. I mean there are lots of things but we'll just leave that alone. We'll leave it alone. I feel like that. This is an exciting time for a lot of people that want to surge. And we'll see what happens. I love pressing. You folks who are you know on the precipice of possibly joining the cabinet tried to watch you squirm but let's talk about something that you actually can talk about and want to talk about. And that is the latino. Vote in the twenty twenty election as i said before. I am fascinated by what happened. Talked to me from your perspective about what happened in the twenty twenty election. These the latino vote. Well overall the a latino vote was still a very important and impactful part of the democrat coalition and you could see that most notably in wins in arizona nevada. You did a community like georgia. You know where. There's been a growing latino community over the last decade or so so overall. Very positive the turnout. Rate among latinos was higher than it was in two thousand sixteen like it was for all other hurricanes so that was very positive. Obviously you also had some of these areas of the country where democrats did performed as well as i would have wanted them to or anybody would have wanted to. That was ruining for joe biden and democrats. I think of miami dade county for instance in florida. Yeah so let's go through each area so in miami dade county in florida. What were the dynamics. There that made the turn out on behalf of joe biden. Not what democrats hoped. it would be. Well you probably heard this term monolithic right more in the last two or three weeks two weeks since the election having last year

What the Election Taught Us About the Latina Vote

"A majority of latino voters did vote for joe biden and comma harris. They played a critical role in states like arizona like nevada. The played in pennsylvania part of my theory of what happened. Is that because florida went. I what happened in miami dade set the narrative about let the nose around the country in the eyes of people who don't know our community is that well and we're providing a lot of that analysis and it then became a wave of headlines that took what was a part of the story. Because i think there are two story. There is both the truth. That latinos turned out in incredible numbers for democrats and the truth. Donald trump made inroads among some communities within the latino community. Both things can be true. They didn't weighted equally in the way that we talked about it. But i also think most of the national media is based on the east coast. So there's a tendency to see things through that lens. Miami comes in first. Miami is wear people tend to think of a power center of latinos. Being latinos in miami are much more powerful than latinos elsewhere. But then when you step back is your sanely. The majority of latino voters are actually not for out there. They're all over the southwest. they're also in the in. The rust belt made a difference not only in pennsylvania. I think also maybe even in wisconsin and we tend to forget about those places where we tend to gloss over them really easily and i do think a lot of that has to do based on where the national media is based. Let's talk about what did happen in arizona because that story provides such a narrative counterweight to what we saw happening in florida. Especially because it was a story ten years in the making you have to go back to senate bill ten seventy which was known as this. Show me your papers law and came at the same time period. Sheriff joe arpaio Huge anti immigrant sentiment within the government of arizona and all these young people some undocumented themselves some not took to the streets they did tons of protests and they started to organize there. Are i would say half a dozen organizations that came out of that era that now for people to vote in arizona knocked on doors to get people out to vote. Sorta sold the messaging to get people to vote not just for biden but for people down ballot. They were really trying to flip the state legislature and a lot of these organizations by the way are not big. Joe biden vans. I mean they like biden better than trump and they certainly wanted to get trump out of office but it was much more about getting trump out of office than voting for biting. It's what a lot of people have called a one time biting coalition that the group of people who voted this time joe biden or not going to be there in four years in the same formation because donald trump will not be on the ballot which means the democrats are gonna have to reconfigure a lot of their strategy while next. The florida story matters not for the national narrative this election but the fact that they were so off in what they thought was going to happen in florida from the democratic side that they lost so big to trump. I mean even those of us who were covering it at new. That trump was to do better than he added. Twenty sixteen in florida etc. The he did so much better than people thought with so many many more places that it was real devastating blow to the floor democratic party. In so that just reinforces your point that. Where does the party go from here. Because this was such a sort of unique set of circumstances. Nationally and in the st louis makes it look bleak for the future of democrats.
