"And they're making up for it in field position, right as well. Best starting field average starting field position in the NFL belongs to the Patriots right now. Second best passing excuse me scoring efficiency belongs to the Patriots. Well, hang on, let's can we flip that because it's not just they have the best starting field position, they have the third best opponent starting field position. It's really interesting though, because the bills, who they're obviously playing on Monday night, our second and a lot of these categories. So there's the bills are a second in scoring efficiency and their second offensively and average starting field position. Both two teams at play good in the kicking game and turn you over a lot defensively. Obviously, rank high and average starting field position. So let me just kind of contextualize some of what we were talking about before and what you just said, because I have the numbers right here. Patriots are opponents to score points of any kind, touchdown or field goes 21 to 31 trips into the red zone. 67%. That's best in the league. They've allowed 15 touchdowns, third fewest in football, 6 field goals, third fewest. This is in red zone, red zone drives. They have four interceptions, which are the most two turnover and downs in a fumble recovery. So when you go back to that starting field position, right? Think about how good it's been when ten of their drives have started inside the opponent's 20 and that's a good thing. It's not like they got downed with a punt. It's not like they had a bad kick return. I'm curious what that number is when you take. Maybe I should go through and do this. I'm curious what that number is when you take those ten drives out. They're average scoring position. When you take away the red zone stops, it might be close to the 40 yard line. Which is absurd. Yeah. Yeah, so we'll see. I need more touchdowns. That's my nitpick of this offense. I thought Mac played fine. I thought everything else was fine and all this crying over PFF grades and evaluating all Mac wasn't good enough here wasn't good enough there..

"The game. Titans turn the ball over four times. The Patriots didn't turn the ball over once. And when you go back to march, and we were talking about the draft and obviously Mack has since succeeded this. But when you go back to march, the reason me and other people were so high on Mac, especially for the Patriots after they spent all that money was he's never gonna lose you games. He's just not going to. He's going to give you plays to keep you in it. And he's not going to give the ball away. And that's exactly what Mac did. So obviously we've seen him do more, but not just rookie quarterbacks. How many quarterbacks, that's the perfect kind of game for a quarterback to get frustrated to get antsy to start taking shots, right? Especially when the running game's not there. He had every opportunity to get overly aggressive and force it. He was patient, and he was calculated, right? We saw Matt Ryan fall into this trap two weeks ago. That's a veteran quarterback. Justin Herbert fall into this trap. Mack was patient. He was waited. He took his profit where it was there. And that's why they won the game, because he didn't get dumb enforced throws and throw picks. He had one throw that maybe should have been picked, but it wasn't picked. He didn't throw the interception. He didn't turn the ball over. That's a good game. Especially from a rookie quarterback, that's a great game to face that defense. Kevin byer ball Hawking that secondary. Jackrabbit Jenkins, veteran corner. He didn't give him anything. He didn't turn the ball over. That's great. If Mac Jones doesn't turn the ball over, the Patriots are going to win way more often than they don't. That's just a reality of it. So I don't see how you can sit there in Mac doesn't turn the ball over once, and you can tell me, oh, well, he needs to be better than that. He can be better. I'm not saying he can't be better. I think he can play better, but I don't know that he has to be better. I think that that was a perfectly acceptable game for Matt Jones. Yeah, I think the issue that I have with the grading and how harsh it was on Mac because there definitely was a lot of throws that he would probably want to have back. And I would say more so than throws you want to have bad necessarily are red zone sequences that he would like to have back where his big issue. Yeah, where they left a lot of points on the field because he misses hunter Henry wide open for a touchdown on the second drive of the game. They have hunter Henry crossing over the middle of the field and the end zone. And he doesn't put it anywhere near him, right? It was tight coverage. I don't know if Henry would have caught the ball or not. But if he puts it near hunter Henry in his catch radius and gives his tight end a chance to box out and make a play on it. That's what you're looking for in that situation and said the ball of sale is 5 yards out of bounds. And then we mentioned the sequence there with The Bourne spike into the ground on the screen and then INT able pass right after that and the scramble on third down..

"Yeah, I think that that's a really good way to putting it in the fact is that you look at the Patriots winning a game and Mac Jones putting up over 300 yards passing in a performance that when you go back and evaluate a lot of it, throw by throw with Mac and we're going to talk about him specifically here in a second. This was not his best game, right? This was clearly not Mac Jones's best game. Was it his words? It wasn't the worst. Yeah, it wasn't his best game, though. And the Titans also took away the Patriots ability to run the football, pretty effectively. And yet they still were able to move the football consistently throw for a lot of yards, score some touchdowns in this game and put up points. So like you said, they beat a Titans team that was all sorts of banged up. I'm not sure how much stock I put into the fact that they beat the Titans. The number one seed in the given what was out there. But they did exactly that real quick. Yeah. On offense. They were banged up on offense. They still had two elite players on defense in Jeffrey Simmons and Kevin bayard who shocker talk trash again and then got lit up at your lad. I've seen that one before. Yeah, that was fun. You look at Mac drawing for over 300 against a good defense when they were taking away the running game and force the ball into Mac Jones hands. He was able to move the football through the air, turnover free, by the way, which I think is really critical as well. And they were able to shut them out in the second half and make some adjustments specifically in the fourth quarter to tighten up a little bit in the run defense that was really porous in those middle quarters, right? The second and third quarter is when they broke up a lot of those big runs. A C plus performance by the Patriots yields a 23 point win. And I think if you're a patriots fan, that's what you have to fall back on. It's not. Let's poke the holes in the performance and let's worry about the run defense and let's how good it was Mac real APF says the worst game of his season. I know a lot of other people got evaluate the tape, have said that it wasn't a good game for Mac as well. But if that wasn't a good game for Mac, and that wasn't a great game overall for the Patriots on defense, either, then what's a good game look like, right? Because they played pretty darn good and they won the game easily. So if we get a patriots a game, which I think probably against Cleveland, that was kind of their a game, right? That was everything at all cylinders hitting. If that is the worst that it's gonna get moving forward, and that means that the best is way way up here. Well, I mean, let's look at Mac Jones specifically in that PFF worst game of the year. If that's Mac Jones worst game, if that's the worst gay Mac Jones can play. Where does he rank in the league? So he's top 5 quarterback. If that's the worst game, the Patriots ever get for Mac Jones, which PFF had his great way down there, idiots. It is great way down there. If that's the worst possible game Mac Jones can play, is he the fourth best quarterback in the league?.

"I just don't know. And maybe it was just a bad day at the office for him. Similar to Mac Jones, I don't know. I'm not making any grand conclusions. I'm a little bit concerned with that. And my final thing that I'm sort of watching a little bit and I'll just, we talked about the run defense, but I just wanted to point out like Carl Davis on the anterior normally he's been one of the best run stuffers. He kind of got worked by Ben Jones, who's a very good safety for the Titan center for the Titans. And so that was a tough matchup. And so I'd like to see him as the games get bigger, they're going to need him to win more of those battles against top centers in this league because I don't think he's going to go up against a lot of slappy in the postseason. Not freaking out yet, but, you know, if New England can't run the ball a 150 yards, what's this offense look like? We talked about Mac enough. But this offense without the run game thriving or just mutilating a defense, it'll be interesting to keep an eye on that. You know, as more pressure is on Mac, more is asked of Mac. If you can't get to the run with Stevenson and Harris, then, you know, what's your go to? How do you move the ball? Can you get it done? Just to keep an eye on it. Not freaking out about it, but just to keep an eye on. Three up quickly. What do you got? So when my first spot I have, I couldn't separate them, but Myers are born together. You know, like you pointed out about KB. I thought that I thought Jacoby Myers also had a had a very good day. He was able to get open against own coverage. I think that, you know, that would also be a thing I feel good about is the Patriots, wide receivers, and Josh McDaniels dying, dialing up plays against a primarily zone defense. I still have questions about man to man..

"We'll see in Monday night in Buffalo because the weather will surely be difficult there. We'll see how he does against a better defense. So look, I did not think Mac Jones was great in this game. That is not a take, this is a fact based analysis. I challenge anybody to come up with four plus plays for him outside of the ones that I have. I trust me, I strain to get the four, and I look for them. I do not like coming on after 23 point victory and criticizing the quarterback who completes about 80% of his passes. I understand where people coming from. I understand that they think I look like an idiot. I get it. If I was a fan, I probably would, too, but just trust me on this, I've been doing this for many years. I'm not saying I'm right, even though I checked with some people and let's just say my grading is not far off from actuality. And you know, it sort of is what it is, but I'm not overly concerned. There was nothing in this game where I was like, oh, well, max not doing this. He was a little bit high in some stuff and Nick probably the biggest. And I didn't realize this until I went back and watched the film. Probably the biggest issue that I had in this game with him was right before halftime. That final drive where they end up Nick folk misses the field goal, I didn't realize it in the moment until I washed it on film. He throws a high pass to Nelson Aguilar along the sidelines that he has to stop and jump for, which causes him to be a tackled inbound. Patriots have to use their final time out there where an accurate throw, Nelson just catches it and takes two steps out of bounds. They're fine. Then the ultimate the final play, sprint right, Jacoby Myers is wide open, like forever on the play, and Mac Jones throws it entirely too late. Jacoby Myers goes out of bounds, and it causes them basically Mac Jones himself cost them three points on that drive. So, look, he wasn't great in this game..

McAuliffe Hopes Joe Biden Can Spark Struggling Campaign

"So America, Joe Biden, you go out there and vote for Terry mccaul and Joe Biden after last night's rally. There was a, quote, rally. Let me show you a couple of pictures, put up by our friend Mac. Here is the CBS picture of the rally that the president did with Terry mcauliffe in Virginia last night. If you're watching on YouTube, you can see that picture. I don't see it yet, so maybe it's stuck in the ether. But it looks like a good crowd. You don't even think, wow, wow, the president may have more hustle than we think. Maybe he's really good at it. Then you pan out. There's the first picture. That's the CBS News picture. Then you pan out, and they've taken over one corner of one tiny park in Virginia across the river from The White House. And they basically rounded up the locals and shuffled them into maybe 300 people there. That 300 people Dwayne, do you think that's 300 people? I'm not sure that that's 300 people. But the president, though, is simply out to lunch on this stuff. Here he is, last night, talking about blend young and who has clearly got the Democrat scared to death of winning an upset that would be an earthquake in America. Cut number 17. Jesse look how he's closing his campaign. He's gone from banning a woman's right to choose to banning books written by a Pulitzer Prize and Nobel Prize winning author. Toni Morrison. So if you talk about love, by the way, which I just finished recently and he's talking about not banning books, but about allowing parents to know which books are being read in what their messages are beloved as a fine book for teenagers to read and I'm sure glad you can would agree with that. But if you have to start what you're attacking opponent is saying, then you're responding to attacks two days before an election with a weak and unpopular president in a tiny park with nobody in it. And that means Terry mcauliffe is sucking air because people don't like Joe Biden

Gunnery Sergeant Jessie Jane Duff Describes When She Knew She Was Different

"Welcome back to one on one with Marine Corps guttery sergeant Jesse Jane Duff. All right, so you joined the Marine Corps, Jesse James, you don't have driver's license. I want to give you MOS transport. They're going to be driving stuff. Big rigs. I got to ask you first because I'm just curious. What was your favorite thing to drive of all the rigs? Oh, they probably the Mac that when we at least a Mac truck at my commercial motor pole at camp Pendleton base motor transport. They at least a Mac at one time, and let me tell you there was nothing like it. It's like the Cadillac 20 feet up in the air. But I can tell you two of my favorite experiences. One was when I was driving. It was probably a flat nose white. I don't recall the tractor that I was in. And I was hauling heavy equipment to an Air Force Base outside of riverside, California to get offloaded onto a aircraft. And I have to drive through commercial streets, civilian streets, and I didn't have a concept of how I looked. I didn't realize I was pretty. I really didn't. I wasn't even allowed to date for goodness. Yes. Protective family. Straight into the moon. I mean, I knew I wasn't ugly, but I just did. So what happened? Well, so two things. Well, one. What are you wearing? Are you in common? Yeah, it's always in camouflage. So to experiences, being naive like that was very good for me because I was never arrogant or big headed, and I never thought I could. Manipulate people. No, I was always like, I got to prove myself. I got to work harder. Always. I was always like a maniac. So I'm driving this tractor trailer. Now remember looking at the roads and how the navigate the turn. This is a long trailer. And I look down and there's a civilian lady. She looks up at me. Her eyes pop out of her head. Her jaw drops, and then she gives me the biggest thumbs up, you would ever see. Like, she just thought that was so cool 'cause the side of the truck said the United States Marine Corps. I'm in camouflage. The second experience was offloading heavy equipment and, oh, no, to pick up equipment from an infantry unit in 29 palms. So I get out there, that's the desert. I have to back up into and I'm backing up into the dock to load up their hummers. They're humvees. And I jump out of the truck and the look on their faces was absolute shock. Now I'm a sergeant at this point. Marines are professionals. You hear all these horror stories from I'm sorry. In the Marine Corps, they see your rank, you don't hear a PEEP of disrespect. And I'm out of that truck and they'll look on their faces was seriously. She's gonna hold us out of here. You could just see it. And I said, all right, double dogs. I need to get you to drive up the hummers onto the trailer. And they're waiting for me to ask for help to chain it down. But we don't do that. When you're trained in the motor pool, you're taught how to chain down your gear. And again, I'm not thinking I'm a lady opened the door for me or help me. It was a different mindset. And then they stood there and watched me get the underneath those at the chains and then take the break apart, pull it in and clamp them all down all two or three hummers. And then I said, anybody want to ride back to camp Pendleton and that one of them had the balls to get on that truck. And I roll back to campell, guys, I'll see you there. And then they offloaded. But I would say those stood out to me because that's when I realized I was different.

Researchers found a flaw that lets a certain spyware infect iphones ipads apple watches or mac computers. But here's the thing. The person who owns the device does not even have to click on anything to let the cybercriminals in so users might not even know when they've been compromised with this technology. Hackers can control the devices camera and microphone and they can record text messages. Emails and phone calls. The spyware is made by an israeli company called the nso group. The firm sells its technologies to governments and police forces for crimefighting purposes but amnesty international says the spyware has also been used against activists and journalists. The average user probably would not be targeted but apple. Still says everyone should update their devices. Now just in case and the emergency software. Update comes just hours before. Uv light appears to kill the deadly covert virus and other harmful organisms. Let's now go to the show. We tend to take our iphone for eating traveling and even some to the bathroom. Indeed the more you think about it the more gross it seems and in a world impacted by the covert pandemic. It's even more dangerous. I've reviewed several iphone cleaning methods in previous mac minutes podcasts from apple's simplistic cleaning advisory to very sophisticated devices all appeared to be effective. It is to what extent you want convenience. The angrier cell is without a doubt the most versatile of those. I reviewed if you are one of those people who takes their iphone with them and never bothers to clean it. And let's face it that maybe you anchor has a device that could literally save your life while that sounds a tad drastic. It's really not a stretch when you hear of hospitals full of covert patients and many dying from this pandemic. It is now over a year since i started covering protecting yourself with tech devices. You can find the past episodes and mac minutes dot b. l. u. b. r. y. dot net. Today we're going to cover the ampere cellphone sanitizer available for order at just fifty nine dollars. Ninety five cents. Us is three devices in one. It is an iphone wireless charger a phone sanitizer and a stand all of which are vital in today's world let's now delve deeper into the ampere. Sell in how. Uv light does. Its job is primarily an expandable uv sanitizer and wireless charger hybrid device. It has four. Uv c. led's inside with two fifteen watt chee charging coils on the outside. Open it up and place your iphone inside in the cell uses uv rays to kill bacteria off the surface of your phone. It kills ninety nine point nine percent of bacteria and viruses in only one minute or place your iphone on top of it and it will wirelessly charge any modern handset most the uv devices. I've seen you place your iphone in a secure box to protect your is. There are a couple of reasons. Why the ampere cell is more versatile than its competitors. I the ampere sell box sizes one of the largest making it large enough to put other items such as rings keys apple watch as air pods and other small items second. The bottom of the anchor cell can be removed so uv light can radiate these items such as keyboards phones track pads and other items. It's important to know how you'd like kills these viruses first. uv and santa's -ation is not new. These devices are relatively new but the fact sanitizing with uv light has been a normal practice since the mid twentieth century. In fact the thousand nine hundred three nobel prize in medicine was awarded to neal's vinson for using uv. Light to fight to burkey laos's as i speak hospitals and laboratories across the world are using uv light to keep their facilities sterile which means it's perfect for sanitizing mobile devices which are especially good at harboring and growing bacteria so hot is uv light. Sanitize there are three types of uv rays uv light has three wavelength categories uv uv and uv c. uv. See light is short wavelength ultraviolet light that breaks apart germ dna leaving it unable to function or reproduce in other words. Uv light is german seidel uva. And you'll be are not you can even neutralize superbugs that have been developed resistance to antibiotics. Uv see that causes this germicide effect is rare earth as our atmosphere blocks at this light is harmful to our is hence why it must be done within amperes box or in a controlled environment you will never see the uv light that is killing all those germs but an external green indicator on advice will let you know. When your devices being sanitized. It lasts for about one minute with powerful. Uv lights inside. Ampere has a deadly effect on microorganisms such as pathogens viruses bacterias and others your iphones and similar accessories with a warm battery allows bacteria to thrive and reproduce uv light penetrates cell and disrupts the dna killing. The pathogen are uv. Light is not hot so while the effectively kills bacteria it will not hurt your iphone. There's practically zero setup to consider what the emperor emperor sell. All you have to do to get started is separate the base from the cover. Place your item on the base and press the top circle when it turns green it's sanitizing and after a minute when it turns red again. It's done it's extremely quick and easy. The unit comes with a usb type c and a power adapter. the unit comes with a usb type. C connector and power adapter. The device comes in red black and glowna dark. Their website is ampere dot shop and is available at the mac minutes episode site along with pictures as we begin to wrap this review up. There is another item ampere cells which is quite creative of uv. Light is an insulated thermos. Bottle it comes at a discounted price if you purchase the ampere sell. "Let's start with you. Know the one the default for so many people and that's the apple notes up. Yeah, and if you had told somebody ten years ago, Hey, in a decade apple is to be really good, and everyone's just gonNa use it because it's on the phone and the computer and everything you may have been laughed out of the room. Young 'cause the apples history to get rid is now is full of bad ideas. Yeah, I would've just L.. O. L.. L. O., L. L. O. L. IN MERCKER Felton sent it to you. Yeah, and I think of anything. So, way back in the day on the Mac. Apple added both notes and reminders to the mail application. I guess you could see that you have like. Oh, I can make a reminder a note out of the sandbox message or something I never one of those things to be mixed. And it did so using weird I met folders, and so you kind of have them on your other devices. That was really really hit or miss, and it was only in the mail APP for a few versions of Mac Os ten, and then it slowly. Away think apple realize no one was using it. While also I have to the the. Team didn't have the I cloud backbone at the time. Oh No, no, we're talking like. That was even before dropbox so psyched they're like. HOW'RE WE GONNA SINK? These notes and somebody said Hey. Let's use I'm APP which. Is Really Putting a square peg into a round hole, probably with a lot of force, but it did kind of work. I never used it either because I never trusted your. We're talking like Mac os ten Tiger Leopard. I mean way way back in the day. But that came and went, and the original iphone showed up, and it had notes APP you made a marker felt joke a second ago. That was the font used. which is like the one step classier than Comic Sans? I think just my personal typeface feelings. I'm not sure, but it's definitely <hes> I'm not sure it's classier. But the <hes>. <hes> <hes> it's really funny that that APP came out of Apple. Let's just say that. Right. It didn't sink with anything eventually you got I map sinking, but I think the idea was the original iphone. NO THIRD PARTY APPS Houston to place to like. Something really quickly and in those early days I used it on the iphone on occasion, but once there were third party applications on the phone. Apple notes really just really fell behind. It really got to a point where. No one who needed any real features could use it because it was so simple and so basic. But then things started getting better in Iowa nine. That was the big release where we kind of got very one of apple notes as we know it today, yeah, I, mean thinks in just kind of better. It was I. Remember walking out of that keynote, thinking what the heck just happened to apple notes. It was like they fired the old one into the sun. And out of that the Phoenix flu, you know and it was. Brand new APP with an actual sinking platform that made sense. The marker felt was gone. It had organization and it was supposed to work on all your devices, and it was like I. Guess Apple had been paying attention to all these third party apps and finally said okay. We can do this, too. Yeah and Iowa's. I'M GONNA put in the show notes Federico's I was on review. Because when you look at it, it is clearly the foundation they've built on ever since and in the. I guess five years or so since Iowa's nine, they've added so many features. You can use it to scan documents and you can do a lot of sharing. Were Talk About Apple? Pencil stuff showed up. And that continues to get better. It really gave them a modern base to work from, and it's on the MAC now, and that wasn't true. In Iowa's nine. It took I think another year for the MAC version to catch up, but is now everywhere including the Web I cloud dot com. And it's it's pretty Dang good.

"I really powerful absent. I'm hoping maybe when Photoshop comes that will drive some things for I would love to see final cut and logic on the ipad. I'm kind of annoyed that neither of them. Are there? You know? A question that sort of came to me as you were talking apple seems to be unwilling to cross the line of mixing the MAC and touchscreen devices. We don't have any touchback books. But Microsoft, and it's only a partners kind of leading the way in the office surface book, and all this stuff is all as having used one. Do you have thoughts around bringing touch to MAC OS like the pros cons or do? You find yourself frustrated you can't reach out and touch the MAC where you can on your surface on your ipad. So it's weird. Right. Because I feel like I'm such a MAC user that even though I have so I have both the surface book. And I actually bought a wall way mate. Book ex pro wage is like the best MAC book pro knockoff ever, except it's way cheaper. And it was inexpensive. And I was a little intoxicated at exit man, I bought it. And I don't regret it. And is the first windows laptop that I bought myself in years. I also got my husband surface go that he loves as a tiny machine. And it's interesting, right. Because in some ways, it is actually really useful. Especially what brow. Housing did just be able to scroll by just touching up on the screen and on apps. I think that support it while it's good. The problem is and I'm sure this is why apple has resisted is that if you don't get those touch points. Just right. It's it's not a great experience. So sometimes I even forget that I have a touch screen if that makes any sense. And so I don't deal with it. But where I do use. It very frequently is obviously scrolling through pages. Trying to go kind of the next thing. It's very useful for presentations, especially if you have a model that will detach. My my weight is not but my my surface book, obviously does and the surface go does. And so if you're taking something to a meeting, and you want to show something off, you can just swipe through the same way you couldn't an ipad. But you have the benefit of having the entire full powerful operating system behind the scenes and not be kind of hamstrung. That's kind of it's sort of interesting. I I understand like, I guess the hesitance of upbringing. Over. But at the same time, I almost feel like if Apple's doing the Mars of hand thing and bringing these IOS apps over to MAC OS, then you know, it's a matter of time. And maybe semantics before we get something that you know, some sort of desktop experience that has a touchscreen. I feel like for better or worse. That's probably where things are going. Things can be improved. This Google is working on to obviously with chrome OS and with their Andromeda. Kind of their next generation thing. And it's a tough problem. But I think wind done well, you notice how useful it can be. And it's funny. I it wasn't until I started using my my my service book a lot more than I would find myself touching my macbook screen. But actually, even before that the first time I ever touched a MAC book screen was when I was reviewing the macbook pro with touch with touch bar and having that touch bar. They're made me want to touch the screen. So close so close right there. So I don't know. It's an interesting problem. But. I would be very surprised if you know, I've been predicting for years, I don't know when it will happen. And I don't know anything. This just might be participating. But I do, you know foresee an ultimate kind of merger between IOS MAC OS. And I think about happens then you'd have to deal with the with the interface differences. Now that doesn't mean that you might not still have like a primary mouse. Keyboard thing for one in touch for another. But. If you're bringing over those touch Centric apps to the desktop, and we already see kind of the problems that kind of has that you're almost inviting well in this world, these would work really well with you know. Touch were at the very least pencil. I don't know..

"You have an IP address and power and cooling and all this stuff in a data center. But you get all the benefits of running a MAC. So the relay server we do the live streaming software on it. And then we have our dropbox account signed into it. And in a relay is just like a bunch of shared dropbox folders to in host and everything, and we have everyone add this like sort of nondescript really, Email address to it and that Email address has a dropbox account. And so all of the relay. Folders for all the podcasts. Get sink through that MAC, mini, which is getting backed up again to time machine. Toback blaze and on occasion that has saved someone like, oh, I'd leave. This file I can't find it. And I can go get it off that MAC mini, and it, you know, it's necessary. But it's I have the space, and I have the bandwidth, and it just a nice safety net. You know, we can store some files there that I know will be safe and sound not on a cloud service. Because like I own that MAC, mini, I shipped it to Maxine. But that's my computer, and I can call them, and I can get it back. And it gives me some sense of peace about it that it's on hardware that I own a control degree. And it makes a lot of sense for distributed company because you've got one personal London one person in Tennessee. And then you've got assistance that are spread across the globe. So it's not like everybody's going to a single office. Anyway, right. Yeah. And it's always available because again, it's an data center. I could do that in my house, but like a tree falls down in my backyard and our servers down for two days. Like, it's like a like a big boy data center with like armed guards and air conditioning. Like, it's gonna be okay. And that that like bedrock stability can be huge again, especially if you're using a MAC to host a website or to provide some mission critical function to your job or your life that having that extra safety net of like, it's run by people who do this for a living can be a nice, really nice thing. Okay. I've got this vision in my head when I do not want you to correct me. Okay. Okay. It's a the the relay MAC mini server, and there's like a couple of guys with machine guns. You know, like European security level just just standing around. I can't confirm or deny that of course, with with dead is dead is. All right. Great. Yeah. So this is Stephen I like, I said, I I have been tempted by the fruit of the macaroni, but never actually bought one. And I don't think I have at least at this point because I'm getting by. Okay. Although maybe once I get six drives hung off this thing. Do you run out of double sided sticky tape at some point, right, or or or or square footage underneath my desk. Or maybe it's just maybe that's on the reasons room get so hot. I don't know. But the, but you've got several. So let us know, you know, you've talked because we talked about the one at max stadium. So I think we've got a pretty good idea of that. But you bought a new one how did you configure it? And why and and how's it working for you? Sure. So the one I have at home like I said, it's serving that drove oh to the network. So it's got that thunderbolt and all of my like work files that are actively working on are stored there. So like this episode of 'em pew. As I go through the edit will be on my I m Mack when I'm done with it..

"You think that's still true with a new with a new twenty s I think it is. I think a lot of people in small offices who wanna MAC server have used a MAC mini for a long time. Again, a use case that maybe wasn't on everyone's mind at the beginning. But for all the same reasons we've talked about it being a good home server. I think all of those apply to an office server, especially like the time machine backup. My last job. I had we were all max. And we ran a MAC mini with like a huge lissi raid. And it was our file server, and then it was time. She drive and accessible to everybody in the office. And that can be a really like affordable way to do as opposed to coming up with some sort of like, quote, unquote enterprise. Lucien, blah, blah, blah, like a MAC meeting. A big drive will take care of a lot of your needs. And so I think there is still a use case for for officers in this in this space. And I think I think the use cases between home and office, probably the fewer differences than you might think. And one of the one of the issues really is. I don't think that many people use office servers anymore because everything is so cloud base. Absolutely. I think I think the Google Drive and draw boxes of the world did like the officer over and much more than apple not updating it for a long time. Right. Just moved to the cloud for everything. And and that's fine. Something I've always been fascinated with. I've never done this before. And I know you have is off site back. Many. That's where you get a MAC mini put it some location somewhere. And it used to be called MAC mini Colo for a long time. But I guess now they change your name to Maxine idioms. Yeah. Yeah. So if memory serves there in Nevada, but I'm not really sure whether at yeah, they've got data center in Nevada. And they got a couple of others Maxine has sponsored relate stuff in the past. And in fact, our my offsite. Mac mini is at MAC stadium. If you listen to any of relay FM's live show, so connected and some other upgrade we stream the show live as we're recording. It that is all routed through that MAC, mini and that mcminn as a twenty eleven the Jack died on some using a dog to Ethan at out of it. So that's probably due for an upgrade. So they they call it. Okay. You're, you know, you're Ethan at port looks like it's accidents. We've put a dog law, and I'm like perfect. So it's still still going strong having an offsite. Mac server gives you all the utility. We've talked about in your home, but it puts it out on like a really fast internet connection. So if you're moving a lot of data, and you're traveling a lot, you know, that can be a nice option, you can have a VPN server going through a I mean, really fast data center, not like your home. "I think if you're going to do media serving like if you're going to serve up a bunch of media in your home, you're probably need one. I, but to me, it seems like it really comes down to how much data are you going to sling around and at some point it may just need its own back. Yeah. I think that's that's a great way to go about it. And if you're looking to add one, you don't have to go out and buy the most expensive, MAC mini, don't even necessarily have to find a new one, right? You can find a gently used twenty fourteen or two thousand twelve even MAC mini, especially if you're not doing a lot of video encoding or that sort of work, if it's basically just going to be a file server, you don't need a lot of computer to do that. And that may make it a lot more forcible. Or if you upgrade a family members? I'm acrylic a friend of mine for a long time used his seventeen inch PowerBook as a home server now, that's sort of hilarious because it's an enormous laptop. But it he just had some hard drives hanging off of it. It was up in a closet somewhere always on. And he already had it. I didn't have to sell that machine. And go buy something else. He could repurpose an old. Mac, and if you're just sharing files and doing time machine backup, and that sort of thing, that's totally fine. You don't need something brand new. I got a better whatever friend who has destroyed laptop screen, and literally I mean, the screen is. I it looks like somebody shot a bullet through it. I don't know what what happened. You know, the computer runs fine. And except there's no screen and he runs it as a headless server. Stuck it in a closet literally had the server poor thing? Yeah. Exactly. Exactly. Sad. I kind of admired that though I thought. Well, hey, it's keeping the the MAC running. And you know, it's still doing a job. I like that. I I like that re-use approach it can be. It'd be a great way to to cycle a MAC, you know, from from sort of everyday use to secondary use a machine that may still have life in it. And there's no need to go out and get something new unless you're doing a lot of plex and coding or you're using it to like, offload development tasks or something like that then. Yeah. You probably gonna want something newer. But for a lot of people even the way, I use mine, honestly, I need new one I replaced my Tony eleven because it was on its last legs. And sometimes it would start and forget that it was a MAC and lose its boot drive into all this crazy stuff. Okay. I've had it. You know, seven years. I'm okay to upgrade this. But you don't have to do that every time, and it's probably less time to replace it before it fails, then the wait till trails train. Yeah. Put. It back together. What what about we haven't talked too much about the small office room? We've talked about home server at the top of the show, we're mentioning that two thousand eleven optical driverless quad core Mak mini was a great office service. Lucien.

"You've gotta get the Hazel rules on installed on all those things. And and for me, I've always just kind of felt like, well, I've got the I MAC, I don't really turn it off. And I can get most of what I need just running that like I can hang a lot of drives off this as well. But I I think that's a question for some people is what is that tipping point between. If you've already got a MAC sitting on your desk versus you know, what point do you need to go the extra mile and get a MAC mini? Yeah. I think that's a there's a lot of possible ways into that. I think if you don't run your MAC twenty four seven so out of all the time as well. So I could do all this on. I'm back it's on twenty four seven. But if it wasn't that would be an issue. The real reason I use one in may this will be helpful to some people is really really two reasons one I do have to our television to play DVD's. And so it's in the entertainment center not out here in my studio. But the biggest one is that that drove oh is too noisy for me to record with in the room. And I didn't want to have to like turn it off or you know, checked it and turn it off every time I need to record. And if for me having it like, it's in the dinner. It's a little noisy. I mean, it's kinda like in the entertainment center, it's a little annoying. But it's better than having it on my desk. Again, the future of like all like ten terabyte SSD like sign me up when I can afford it and not so my house, but until then for me, at least, I don't I don't want all that rotating storage all my desk. And so the MAC mini allows me to sort of put it elsewhere. It's accessible on the network. I'm go control directly to the TV. I have a keyboard mouse up to it if I need that. But it just sort of removes it for my everyday working environment that was important to me. But it may not be important for everybody. I think if you have an I MAC or another desktop, and it is your primary system or even if you have a laptop that is affecting a desktop. You can do a lot of this cool server stuff in on that system. But if that's a system that could go away, if you take it to work in the foul silver turns off or if you shut down the I'm back at night, and you can't access your stuff. It's something to. Attend with a server in my mind is going to be twenty four seven. I just want as like background thing. Available at all times. Not just when I'm at my desk. I think there's a tipping point into me it evolves storage. It's like like right now. I have underneath my desk here velcro to the puddle on the desk. Three five terabyte laptop style drives connected to the Siodmak between backups and archives storage and other things. I've got three. Oh, it's like do. I do I put a fourth because what we're talking about using this machine as a time machine for the family. I thinking, oh, I would have to buy another. So. Four drives on this thing. Yeah. What point? Does it become ridiculous?.

"You heard about it here on the MAC power users. So we've talked a lot about using a mce server today. I think there's a lot of great use cases for it. My favorite just running back apps. All the time something like having Hazel all the time. It's just invaluable. Yeah. But they're also there are some alternatives. We spoke a little bit about the network, attached storage or a nasty. Vice these are, you know, they're basically little computers. They usually run some sort of Lennox have little OS on them, and you can stuff them full a heart is I mean, some of these have like fifteen or eighteen hard drive bays. If you need that much storage now, usually for home. But yeah, they exist. That's a tornado going through your house. They are there. I use one for a long time. And like I said earlier, I moved away from this. Because I wanted to do cloud backup more easily on all my data. You can do it on something like a sinology, but there's a lot of hoops to jump through. And it may not be officially supported by the provider you want or the version that's offering sinology may not have it. You got a third party thing. It's just a little bit Messier and an ultimately for me. I wanted the backup. And I just like I said I wanted to MAC doing this stuff 'cause I'm most familiar with MAC, definitely more. So than like, the OS that was running on my previous Nass is it just made sense for me to bring a MAC into this role. But it can't be a good alternative. If you have some specific needs or you just need like as much storage as possible. You don't care about the sound or the weight of it. You know, this is a viable option for a lot of people too. But like when you do something like Hazel, that's just not going to work on that solution. And and I think for a lot of. People that are considering this you need to think about whether or not you want to run MAC apps because if you do if you want the ability to tunnel in and run a MAC you want to have Hazel doing stuff in the background. You're going to have to get yourself a MAC. Yeah. Absolutely. It's sinology. You know, it does have its strong since you mentioned like a backup for an office is a huge one. But a lot of these have like applications that can run directly on them. So you can do some of the stuff like a member for mine. I had an app that ran and it looked at the master feed from realize website and just downloaded every empty three. We published like now, I can do that on my MAC and use a different method for that. But you can't do a bunch of that stuff for you know, with the tools on on a nasty. But if you're familiar with the MAC or you just need a MAC application, the MAC mini. I think is more attractive more attractive choice, at least at least for me where I am. Yeah. I agree and later because you actually have several MAC minis in your life you between your biz. In your home. And I want to actually go through those at the end of the show. And have you explain why how you configure them in wash? Or I am somebody who has been on the fence about the MAC mini as long as a mcnamee's been around. Always understood why they existed, and and I thought it was cool. When you see someone run a whole office on a MAC mini server or see some of the things you're doing with your MAC minis. But because I have this fancy I Mak on my desk. And I just leave it running all the time. I've never been able to convince myself that I need to go spend more money on a digital MAC. You know, it's sure come comes with additional overhead. You know? If you're going to have another MAC, you've got to make sure it has the update. Yes. And you've got to make sure this offer is running in..

"There's one less thing. I I will mention while we're talking about this remote connection. If your MAC mini is headless that would mean, it's not hooked up to a display MAC OS will set the default resolution pretty low, and so when you remote into it, it may be sort of difficult to get around. And so there's a little HDMI adapter. Our friends at MAC stadium came up with this and found it, and it's basically just a little it's just a little dog'll that plugs into the HD my port, and it basically tricks the MAC mini into going into. To ten eighty p. So when you log into it remotely, the resolutions, a little more usable. So I use this on our headless MAC mini that we have with relay and it works. Great. I can connect with screens and everything it's a nineteen twenty eighty a really usable size, and it's like nine dollars on Amazon is pretty pretty hard. It's just it's just a little plug, and it's like a half dollar Idi bitty. So if you if you run into that where you're remolding in and the resolution is not where you want it to be then this may solve that problem for you. It's called the compu- lab display emulator at that. That's just a cool name as a great name. I think I just need to get one. Just for just for the name. This episode of the MAC power is brought to you by saying box. We all have Email. We all have too much Email, and it can be difficult to set up the filtering or the rules that we were talking about to make it manageable. As we're saying box comes insane box is really smart. "Keyboard maestro. You know, that you can do all sorts of automation that you can trigger on your MAC back home or just have it. They're looking for things to do for you. And you know, it's like I talk I've talked on the show how I really have embraced the ipad and a lot of ways. But having a MAC running for me at all times is an essential part of how I hold it all together. And if there wasn't a macaroni twenty four seven a lot of things would fall apart from me. Yeah. I it's amazing. How quickly you can build multiple task into the server where you know. All of a sudden, you've got five or six or a dozen things running that for me, at least they kind of fade into the background kind of kind of forget their happening because it all works so seamlessly and then one day at stops. You're like, oh what what happened? You know, must have lost internet at home. He's not working for me. It can be sort of surprising when that disappears on frustrating. Why is everything broken? Katie was having a problem with her MAC mini at one point. And she had I'm going to get it wrong. I think she had attached a one of those internet of things plugs to her MAC mini. So she could remotely does literally yanked the plug in plug it back. Yeah. Yeah. Jason did that to on his old one? It's like. Gets gets frozen or something or it's failing. Yeah. It's that's one way to do. It. And then another whole area of having this all on MAC at your house or your office is the idea of remote access. Yeah. So you can get get into your server from your local network, or even if you're not at home, and you need to get in giving you giving you a way to do that there. Couple of of pretty interesting ways to do this. If you're just on your local networks for me. I have I MAC in front of me. And my minis in the house, I can use finder can select in the sidebar hit share screen, and then I'm just controlling my MAC mini. I don't have to go over to the TV where it is. And like, find its keyboard. I can just log into it and work on it in a window. What's really cool about the way? Find or does it is you can drag and drop files and announcer say there's something on the the server you need or you need to have something attitude. You can just drag it over and it copies it over the network. You can share a. Clipboard, which is huge. If you use something like one password, and maybe it's not set up on your server where you can log into things by copying it and your one password on your local machine and pasting it on the server, it's really neat. And it's it is not nearly as frustrating as you think it would be to have remote MAC because MAC OS makes it as native as possibles age drag this file, and it does the right thing. It can be really great. But it does require you to be on the same networks. There's some other options if you need to get in from the outside, right? When we were when we were in London for for Hurley's big day. I was on the south Bank one day doing some work. And I bumped into a problem. I had an ipad didn't have a MAC with me. And I bumped into a problem where I had a web service that just would not play nice with mobile safari. And so it's like, I don't know. It's like six AM London time, I use screens which is connected to my always running back back in California logged in remotely Yousef. Sorry on my MAC took care of what I needed to..

"So get if you're that user where you have a laptop, and you have an iphone will those mail messages aren't getting automatically filtered and those rules on applied unless your laptops open. But if you have David you have your MAC, always working for you in the background like you said, you can just leave mail open and male roles are just happening all the time and your phone, your laptop sort of always the way you want them to be because the MAC minis doing all the heavy lifting as mail comes into it. You know, every time at checks, and I've done that. And it's so satisfying to see something. Come into your inbox on your iphone? And then watch it just vaporize into somewhere else. It's the MAC back at home said, oh, I got this and takes care of it for you. You really opened a separate category here. In addition to cloud services that you want to download lots of data from there's also just some great MAC apps out there that you want to have running twenty four seven and apple male roles in other example, another great example, I think is Hazel Hazel, which is the auto filing application, and like I've got this these apps. I used to scan documents when I'm on the go the receipt. Scanners, you know, like scanner pro or scan bought and they save to a special folder on my cloud storage, which Hazel is looking at and in Hazel sees that. And if I save it in the right way Hazel gives it a name and moves it to the right folder sin. The copy of my countinent does a whole bunch of stuff. I did a whole Hazel field guide. So you can go check that if you're interested, but the, but basically the MAC is at home saying, you know, it's like the dog waiting for you to come home. Is you here is it here yet, you know? And then as soon as that file drop. In. When after I buy my burger, it immediately does all that processing this CPA gets the gets the receipt before I even eat my burger, and that's great. And that happens because I've got a MAC running the Israel. So with a MAC mini as a server you can pick those apps that work for you in that way. Just leave them running all the time. It's super cool. And it lets you build workflows like that that you couldn't otherwise. Yeah. Right. Otherwise, that's F would just be waiting for you. And if you're on vacation for two weeks, and your laptop doesn't get open all that stuff's queued up and having something this is always got your back when it comes to your workflows is really powerful. I use Hazel Minnie's over before I moved to the library to do all my photos sorting. So take a picture upload dropbox, Hazelwood, rename them and automatically sort them for me. It really makes. It's like having an assistant or like some sort of, you know, Butler going around behind you making sure all your files. Are you want them to think about it? Because the MAC mini just always on uses very little electric city. It's quiet. You have it on a shelf somewhere just making your your digital life. Better. Another great app to have running twenty four seven for this type of service..

"Yeah. There's a thought to have a portable desktop. So you see I see MAC minis when I travel for work like in audio video rigs, or in you know, sort of these different sort of mobile desktop environments where you need to take your desktop with you somewhere else. There was an old ad for the original MAC. At some like university campus at someone like picks up. Their original MacIntosh and put it like in the basket of their bike, and they ride across campus. You can be that person with the MAC mini today. Right. Yeah. The original MAC outta handle. Sure. It was it was made for it. The MAC mini. Sally doesn't have a handle. But it is small. So if you're in that sort of use case where you know, I need a desktop set up in a couple of different environments, or if it's, you know in the past I would deploy these sometimes in an offices or in schools for clients where it's going to be used for like a semester in one classroom. And then go somewhere else, you know, you just unplug in a move it around. There's some there is portability to it for a desktop, which is an interesting twist that if that is in need of yours is that many is of the only thing that that can't fill that need from apple. So that's that's an interesting angle to. Yeah. I think it's interesting because there are I can think of use cases, let's say you're doing you're doing some more high end video processing, and you get a loaded MAC, mini, and you've just got a keyboard. And mouse and display your very and you go to multiple locations. There is something to be said for sticking. The computer in your bag and heading out. Yeah. Absolutely. You know, I've I've got some friends who work on like professional like video sets for like movies and TV shows, and they're ingesting video footage and audio footage and stuff and MAC mini show up there for this exact reason wri publication production. I should say breaks down when the TV shows done. It just goes back in storage and waits for the next show. That's a pretty unique feature of the MAC, mini and one that I'm sure apple did not think about when they introduced it and no five, but people are using using them that way today. So let's say that you fall in that category. And you're thinking, hey, I want a portable desktop, computer. But you need a good monitor. You know, you want the best caliber monitor you can what what's the situation with the twenty eighteen MAC mini. How many can you attach and how far down that rabbit hole can we go? So if using four K you can have up to three displays you've got thunderbolt three then you have HDMI if using five K two. Plays. You're gonna have the ability just to use to one via thunderbolt and again won via the HDMI. So you know, that's a thing to consider looking at your desk set up your multiple display person. And you want three you're gonna be stuck with four K or lower. But still four K display on a desk is really nice. And I think most people are probably single or dual display people in which case go crazy with the five K display, you really gonna like it going to go to the full Al Gore. You got to lean back in your chair to see the top one. That's an option to tease multiple displays. I don't. So I have the I MAC pro. And then when I want to use a second display, I use my ipad and Luna display. It's not I've never really been in multiple display kind of person. Honestly why I added one in in. Portrait mode on the right side of my my five came I MAC, and I use it as a reference my I've talked about it in the past show..

"All right. So we've broken down the options for your new MAC mini. Let's talk about what you do with it. And I think probably the starting point is a Steve's original presentation, the MAC mini as a workstation. Yeah. You know, I think that use case has diminished a little bit over time. But I still think it's a completely valid one where if you already have a setup and he's one drop in a new computer. The MAC mini is great for that. I think to if you're looking at you know, sort of a MAC mini versus a notebook. There's some things to think about, you know, if you're like my old setup before the I MAC, I had a MAC book pro and display, keyboard and mouse, right then approaches and clam shell mode, and in if you're sort of in that environment where your notebook is affected a desktop replacement. Amac, many maybe a nice way to go in the future. You already have all the other stuff. You're not really really using your notebook as a notebook when the MAC mini. Maybe a lot cheaper of an upgrade than say. A new macbook pro or something. So I think. That is something that's overlooked a little bit. But I think it's totally evalu- so this machine, and it's it's so many so small and quiet like you just have it on your desk. And you're never gonna think about it. Right. It's not like these old towers that people used to use it had to be under your tests. You had to run cables of too many small quiet. You can have it right here next to you. It's totally great. Totally a it's a great co worker if you will at your desk, while also I think, you know, the success of Iowa in the fact that so many people are getting a lot of their mobile work done on Iowa's in in a lot of those people are carrying laptops around or they have laptops that sit on a desk that never gets carried around. Right. I mean, not only is a laptop more expensive and quite a bit more expensive a for comparable specs a laptop. Also, the thing about laptops, is they've got so much technology compressed into such a small space that I feel like things can go wrong with laptops. You know, there's just a lot of heat and. Mectron IX jammed into that little case. Whereas with a MAC mini. I think you're actually might be. I don't know. This is just speculation. I feel like you you in some ways how a system that may be more stable. I think there's also an angle here. Talking about a MAC mini versus an I Mak. Right. If you're comparing back desktop to MAC desktop, well, if you already have a display, obviously, this is far cheaper, especially if you like a retina, I'm Eric. Yeah. But Apple's displays over really nice looking at mine right now. And I gotta say pretty sweet. You can put any display which you can go on Amazon and get a nice display for a couple of hundred dollars. Yeah. You're you will get in there for less money. But I just like you. You're not going to get the I MAC off my desk because the retina for me, the retina displays is so great I feel like the whole vector of this decision. I MAC MAC mini centers on how important it is to you to have retina display because you're just not going to buy something out there. That's going to look as good as an I'm Akron display. I mean, even if you buy the LG, then you're spending six or seven hundred dollars, and then you're back in I'm price territory. Right. It's sort of a circular thing. And it's not as good ugly. Basil to display does have some cons. Right. If the display fails on I Mak out of warranty, that's a really expensive repair. Maybe the computer still good, but the displays bad. Yeah. I don't know if that's something to really keep you up at night. But it's it's a factor. I think worth considering it's always been the thing with the MAC as you always say, well what happens if the display? Spat on me or vice versa. Right. The display still good. But now I'm ten years in the computer is not meeting my needs anymore. You sort of have two things in one to deal with with an I Mak..

"We're going to put the link to the announcement in the show notes. And it's five minutes of Steve Jobs, where he he waxes poetic on fire wire and tells you everything that's great about this. But really it was five hundred dollars for a MAC. I mean that was unheard of. Yeah. When I got started in this racket, you know, so I was really happy at the time. I know a lot of people that came to the MAC with that original MAC mini. Absolutely. It just opened the door to so many people, and I don't know how successful it was wishing machine. I'm sure people did that, but you know, very quickly apples at arrived. It was more. And they started updating it was there was another round of PowerPC g four power to MAC minis. That was actually a silent revisions have not used by many. It was faster than what it said on the box. It's kind of strange different time. But then it moved to Intel in February. Oh six and it came with the core solo chip is only MAC ever use this pretty underpowered and the price was now five ninety nine. But again apple. Trying to keep it in that zone of like if you want to buy your first MAC, this is a pretty reasonable want to do it. But I think by the time like twenty ten rolled around in the body style change to what we know. Now, it was six ninety nine and I think apple sort of realized that people are buying these for more than just an entry level machine. Yeah. I remember the term core solo. And it felt like it was like a marketing name that perform the opposite effect of marketing. Or solo? Really, it's okay. It's it's like half the computer, you would get with a real CPU. But I think that apple when they started the MAC mini. They assumed it was just a switcher MAC in those bringing people over. I don't think they really expect to the way all of the already existing MAC users. We're going to find creative ways to use it though. Because I think that started kind of immediately. Yeah. I know. So I I have a story about this. I many actually have one it's here in my office. And I worked for like a little nonprofit in high school and just like on weekends and stuff and night. And we bought a G four MAC mini this original machine as a file server because I am the person I worked with both had laptops. And it kind of like shuffling hard drives around just got old like, well, we can just by MAC, mini and put a big hard-drive dangling off the back of the fire wire and just put it like literally up on the up on a shelf somewhere and not have to worry about stuff. Orage any more. And that wasn't a switching sort of situation. Right. Didn't replace a PC server artist. Bought a MAC mini because it was small and cheap. And it did a job that no other computer really could. And I think that to me is the heart of this is that the MAC mini can become many different things depending on what you need it to do. I'm sure you remember this too early on. There were people who like putting MAC minis in cars right with little LCD screens. And now, it's silly Cillian apple, ipads, and car plant stuff. But it got MAC mini in your glovebox to sink, I tunes to your cars. I I don't think apple intended that. But here we are. And for me like really the heyday was like around two thousand eleven when apple released the MAC mini without an optical drive in it and really kind of embrace the MAC mini server concept. And I know a lot of people..

"Hello, friends, David Sparkes here along with my friends, Stephen Hackett. How're you doing today? Stephen, david. I am good. Glad to be back in. We're gonna get nerdy bus MAC stuff today. Yeah. Mac mini the apple released. A new MAC mini. We've got a lot to talk about it. What you can do with it. I think a lot of people are wondering where does this fit my life? Or is there a place for it? Well, we're going to cover all of the options today. And maybe a MAC mini does fit in your life. But before we do that a couple preliminary announcements don't forget the Seattle meet up for automakers. And and frankly, MAC power users and all the other relay folks that we're going to have on January nineteenth. They're still maybe space for that. But it's filling up very quickly, and we'll put a link in the shutouts. Also, don't forget we're doing a live our users episode recording in Chicago in early March. And that is another one we're going to put the Lincoln the show notes, but it's filling up quickly. So please get in there if you're interested. Yeah, we love to see people on I'm so bummed. I'm not gonna make it to Seattle. I thought about a last minute trip, but it's not gonna paint out. But as a Kaga was going to be a whole lot of fun. We're excited to take the show on the road, and and get out and meet some people. And you know, I've heard there's something in Chicago in the in the early spring called snow, so we'll get to experience that that'll be fun. It's gonna be it's gonna be great Chicago will fake you out. You know, coming from California. I look out the hotel window in Chicago around this time of year, and it's like sunny, and it looks nice. I'm like, oh, great t shirt and shorts. Right. And then you walk out the door and the wind is coming up at lake and I think I'm going to die. Yep. It's pretty it's pretty exciting. I like Chicago. Yeah. I mean, it's it's a it's a fun place to go to do work stuff before we started. I would like to thank everybody for such the warm, welcome. Our previous episode has been up for a couple of days now when we record this, and I've got so many gracious and encouraging emails and tweets and messages in the forms. It's really nice to be. Welcomed into such a institution, like MAC, power user. So thank you to everyone. Who's who's taking the time to write me a note? It really means the world to me. So we're we're excited to get going. All right. So the MAC mini got an update it did it did what a great feeling for a while. We weren't sure if it was going to fade away into the night or or what was going to happen. But the got an update, but we thought we thought we'd take the MAC mini on today. But before we kind of talk about the most recent update, I guess there's a little bit of a history lesson involved there is and you have me now to talk about MEC history. So you told me my initial twelve patriot for this. You didn't accepts I short. The MAC mini came around in two thousand five it came in at a time where the ipod was just lying the world on fire. Right. The ipod was huge hit. And there's something called the halo effect. People would buy an ipod. And the next time they need a computer.
