Hall of Famer Bobby Hull, the Golden Jet, dies at 84
"He was known as the golden jet, a two time NHL MVP in three times scoring champion who helped the Chicago Blackhawks win the 1961 Stanley Cup. The team and the NHL alumni association have announced a death of Bobby holley. Hall played for Chicago for 15 seasons before signing hockey's first $1 million contract with Winnipeg in 1972. His son Bret hull said in a 2001 interview that his dad taught him that hockey was about more than money. It doesn't matter about salary or anything else. If you're not going to be happy where you are, then you're not going to be successful and the only thing that ever made him happy was winning. Hull was one of the most prolific forwards in NHL history, scoring 610 goals during his 16 year career. I'm Mike Hempen

While Yanis and taito Campo will captain the other side among the other 8 starters from which the captains will choose are two time reigning MVP Nikola Jokić of Denver and NBA scoring leader Luka Dončić of Dallas. Antetokounmpo helps Bucks beat short-handed Nuggets 107-99
"The buck strolled through a 107 99 win over the nuggets who were missing many of their stars, including MVP Nikola Jokić and Jamal Murray. Had 33 to lead the way Ana kupo says he doesn't concern himself with the opponent's roster. Might soon be successful and try to win that game that night. So he doesn't really change who's in front of me. The nuggets tried to be physical with honor to Google. He shot 22 free throws of the second half. The bucks also won despite giving 23 turnovers, Aaron Gordon had 26 points for the nuggets. Check Freeman, Milwaukee.
Murray gets 1st career triple-double, Nuggets beat Pacers
"The shorthanded nuggets won their 9th straight when they handled Indiana one 34 one 11, leading the way was Jamal Murray with his first career triple double. As good, I think it just shows the level of play we're playing out right now. And we want to keep you rolling. Murray logged 17 points, 14 assists, and ten rebounds. This on a night in which two time reigning MVP Nikola Jokić sat out with hamstring tightness. The pacers have lost 6 in a row. Bruce Morton, Denver
Biden welcomes the Warriors, pledges support for California
"The president says the Golden State Warriors are a dynasty. For NBA titles, 6 finals and in the last 8 seasons, that ain't bad, man. The president welcomed the warriors in the east room, calling two time NBA MVP Steph Curry, one of the great sportsmen of our time. I think we were here 7 years ago for our first championship. They had not been back since Donald Trump disinvited them from the annual celebration because curry said he wasn't interested in showing up. The Golden State Warriors are always welcome in this White House. The president praised curry and the warriors for reflecting America itself with their style of play. Constant motion with individual freedom and personality that comes together as one team. I'm Sagar Meghani.
Tatum scores 51, Celtics beat Hornets for 7th straight win
"Jason Tatum continued his challenge for the MVP award while carrying the Celtics to their second win over the hornets in three days, one 31 18. Boston is an NBA best 33 and 12 following its 7th straight win. Tate and port in 51 points, including 7 three pointers. He was 15 of 23 from the field and 14 of 14 from the line. 51 is big, but, you know, we played as a team. And I think that's what's been really big for us to use 6 or 7 games that we've been winning. The hornets lost for the 8th time in 9 games despite Jalen McDaniels, who hit 5 three pointers while scoring a career high 26 points. I'm Dave ferry.

Nets top Heat 102-101, lose Durant to right knee injury
"The nets pulled out a one O two one O one win over the heat, but they finished the game without Kevin Durant. The MVP candidate left in the second half with a right knee injury following a collision with Jimmy Butler. Brooklyn went ahead on Royce O'Neal's put back with 3.2 seconds left, giving the nets their 14th win in 15 games. It was a big time play. We knew Kai, you know, it was going to take a shot, and we trust him with that, and then, you know, that's a great opportunity to crash a glass, especially at that time. Kyrie Irving had a game high 29 points for the nets. Butler led the heat with 26 points, but he missed a contested shot at the rim on the final play. I'm Dave ferry.
Shough leads Texas Tech over Ole Miss 42-25 in Texas Bowl
"Tyler schuck through a touchdown pass and ran for two more as Texas tech won the Texas bowl beating old miss 42 to 25. Shucked through for 242 yards and ran for a 111, and he was named the game's MVP. I'm just really happy we wanted as a team, you know, just kind of the fun I've had out there just a defense but we were playing all of each other and just seeing all the emotion and all my teammates eyes and just kind of just embrace that moment together. Jackson dart threw for 361 yards and two touchdowns for old miss, and he also added a rushing touchdown. Adam spole in Houston
Nix leads No. 15 Oregon to Holiday Bowl win vs. Tar Heels
"Bone Knicks through a 6 yard touchdown pass to chase coda with 19 seconds left to give 15th ranked Oregon at 28 27 win over North Carolina in the holiday bowl. Nicks went 23 of 30 for 205 yards and two touchdowns and said the winning play is something they practiced over and over. I think everybody on the sideline kind of wanted that play and I was just happened to be the one that might have verbalized it. Ducks running back Bucky Irving rushed for a 149 yards on 13 carries with two touchdowns to win the game's offensive MVP. Tar heels quarterback Drake may finished 18 for 35 with 206 yards and three touchdowns in the loss. Philip gon, San Diego.
Jokic, Nuggets outlast Suns 128-125 in OT; Booker sidelined
"Yet another command performance by Nikola Jokić lifted the nuggets to a one 27 one 25 overtime decision over Phoenix. Denver may lead the Western Conference, but jokic says it's too early to be thinking about how far this team can go. If you really really try and really something to happen, it's not going to happen. It needs to natural that comes my opinion. The reigning two time MVP racked up 41 points, 15 rebounds and 15 assists, good for his 83rd career triple double. Bruce Morton, Denver
The latest in sports
"AP sports arm Tom Miriam, Monday Night Football, the packers kept their slim playoff hopes alive by defeating the reeling rams 24 to 12. Aaron Rodgers 22 at 30 for 229 yards and the touchdown to fuel optimism over the seasons last month in Green Bay. So I won two and just about everything we've needed to happen has gone our way. Just about, right? So things are looking up. And NFL injury news eagles quarterback Jalen hurts is hurting. The MVP candidate hurt his shoulder and Sunday's win over the bears and his questionable to start Saturday's game against the cowboys. NBA Donovan Mitchell scored a team high 23 points in his first game against the jazz and his trade to the Cavaliers over the summer and Cleveland's went over Utah. It was just a lot of fun just being out there playing against guys I've been playing with and coaching staff that I've been with my whole career and really helped me grow to be who I am today. Joel embiid scored 28 points as the 76ers staved off a second half raptors rally. At the end of the third and the beginning of the fort, but we've reacted. Also victorious, the sun's hawk spurs thunder Timberwolves hornets, and the box who defeated the pelicans as Giannis poured in 42. NHL, Alex Ovechkin remains one goal behind Gordie Howe for second all time in NHL history as he went scoreless in the capitals overtime win over the team for whom Howe played almost his entire NHL career, the red wings, but Nick dowd scored twice for the caps. To come from behind and then come from behind again, the very next shift. And then win in overtime, especially that was one of our biggest crowds of the year. So that felt really good for our team. The league leading bruins got two third period goals from Patrice bergeron to deny a Panthers come back. Sitting on leaves and I think we have to get away from that and keep being on our toes and keep pushing, you know, no matter what the score is. Other NHL winners, the avalanche stars, Sabres, Canadians, predators and blues. I'm Tom, AP sports.
No. 17 Oregon State dominates Florida to win Las Vegas Bowl
"Oregon state routed Florida 30 to three to win the Vegas bulb. Beaver starting quarterback Bengal Branson completed 12 of 19 passes for 165 yards and a touchdown. He also ran for a TD. Called Branson was named the game MVP. Felt like we put together a great game plan, watch a lot of tape. It was all the looks that we were seeing on tape and I felt like we could just go out there and let it rip and play ball and that's the most fun that you can ask for. Florida scored his three points and a field goal in the final minute, thus extending its NCAA record scoring streak to 436 games, 57 games longer than any other team. I'm Tom mariam.
Jokic scores 43 as Nuggets down ex-mates, Wizards 141-128
"Nikola Jokić poured in a season high 43 points as the nuggets got past injury riddled Washington one 41 one 28. His dominance included his going 17 of 20 from the floor. That was attacking special like I said, they're missing couple of guys couple of big guys. You know, I just there and trying to attack the pain and then be there, be there as a presence. As if that wasn't enough, in the locker room after the game, jokic was presented with the MVP trophy he won for his play last season, recently christened the Michael Jordan trophy. Giannis-less Bucks cruise to 105-96 win over Hornets
"A night after scoring 40 points in a loss to the Lakers, two time MVP Yanis sante to compose sat to rest a sore knee. No problem, Bobby portis led the bucks with 20 points as Milwaukee cruise to a one O 5 96 win over the Charlotte hornets. Everybody sacrifices everybody works entirely, you know, extremely hard on this team. There's no egos. Everybody just wants to see everybody wearing. Jordan Mora added 17 points and Brooks Lopez and javon Carter each scored 14 for the bucks. Terry Rozier led the hornets with 26 points, but Charlotte had its three game home winning streak halted. "mvp n. b." Discussed on The Crossover NBA Show with Chris Mannix
"And as soon as you start to drill down, I think it gets very flimsy. And yes, we will learn a lot about them over the next couple of weeks. And I think what we will learn is they're probably every bit as bad as they looked in their whatever two in ten start, two and 8 start to and out. It should be two in ten start. Maybe they're not quite as bad as two in ten. But they're not, they're not that much better than that. And we're going to see that. They'll be exposed on this road trip. I'm fairly certain. And that's not an indictment of LeBron who, when he's playing, and he just got back from injury, mixed whatever 6 games. LeBron's still great. Anthony Davis went healthy. Obviously still capable of great things. Westbrook is Westbrook at this stage and the rest of the roster is a bunch of guys who would barely make a rotation of most of the contenders. So yeah, it's the same problems they had to start the season. They just were glossed over by the inferiority of the schedule at this point. All right, there's your obligatory Lakers reference at the top of the show. All right, I want to talk about the MVP race right now because we're right around the quarter point of the season. You're starting to see some of the top contenders separate a little bit. We're kind of getting a bit of a top 5 ish look from teams. If you look at the NBA dot com, MVP ladder, one of my favorite things to look at most weeks. You've got Luka Dončić hanging out there at the top. Nikola Jokić hanging out there at the top. Giannis de compo hanging out there at the top. And my guy, Jayson Tatum, why pick to win MVP this year. He is in that mix as well. Let's start here, Howard. At the quarter point of the season, who would be your first quarter MVP? So I was using as my kind of basis or just guideline initial pool, the basketball reference MVP award tracker because what they do is they do a probability based on all the past results. So it takes into account the team's record stats, everything puts it into a formula and says, this is who's most likely based on past results of MVP. Your guy, Jason Tatum, is in fact at the top of that list with a 22.7% chance, according to basketball references, algorithm, jokic is very close behind him at 22.1%. So just tenths of a percentage point there. Then they go Dončić, Giannis, curry, and then drops down a little bit to get to Donovan Mitchell. So that's the group according to the basketball reference award tracker using formula and based on past results. Within that, so it's interesting to kind of look at those respective cases. And to answer your question, I think I'm leaning curry right now even though, as you know, I'm all about the team's got to be a clear contender. They got it. Let's just pause on that one a second there. You have the last couple of years about how winning matters, right? Being on a top two or three team matters. You're gonna lean towards Steph Curry right now. The warriors could be great by the end of the season, but right now they are the definition of average at this moment. Well, all right, so let me just because I knew eventually I would have to explain this, but you decided to jump in first. I did. 'cause I'm rude. Which is fine. I jumped all over you for, you know, awful Domino's reference. So we're at the quarter

"A if you are actually concerned about addressing your anxiety, you would take them medication that was prescribed. I can't. I'm scared to take it, not several years ago. I have a fresh prescription. Thank you. I just got to. I know, but you've gotten prescribed it multiple times. You've never taken it. I didn't like the way that other one was described to me. I felt like it might dampen my excitement while also dampening my worries. Like, I want to feel my emotions. Okay, cool. So I would like to feel my emotions too. Okay, but I'm just saying, if you want me to worry less, if you want me to feel comfortable, being able to take anxiety medication. And I think I can deal with my anxiety and otherwise besides medication. But I can't, I can't because you sir will not worry enough for both of us. To be clear, you said that I got more receiving as a response to you having a lot of anxiety. So it sounds like you agree that you're in a catalyst to this. So you need to reduce your risk. In order for me to meet you somewhere in the middle, and to be fair, wild, like what about my wild wild wild life? I thought that. Every single example. I'll give you an example. Let me just stop talking. I'll give you an example. So when he used to play for the Broncos, he lived in a city called Centennial, Colorado, which is like, I don't know, it was like 40 minutes is beautiful. I do, I miss it so much. Which was like, what was about 40 minutes from DIA, the airport, so he would pick me up. And he would leave his house. I don't know what he was doing. He could have been like eating before, maybe he was home, but he would come get me. Shortest possible time away from his house would be like 90 minutes by the time he drove to the airport waiting for me to get in or even he was so sweet. He's actually come inside and meet me. But 90 minutes away. From his home. And I would come back and there would be a candle lit. And it wasn't like a romantic my girlfriend's in town candle. It was like, this is just a candle that I keep it all day. He probably kept it while he was at work. He kept it lit, at least those 90 minutes while we were away. And that is wild and risky. And it's proof that you were this way actually, so I was wrong when I first said you weren't this way. You were this way early on. And this is why I can not not worry. I have to go downstairs and check all the candles every night before I go to sleep. I

"Every team was in contention would want him, but to your point, who knows what type of condition he's going to be in and either way he's fun to watch, so I look forward to it, all right, Charlie, we're done. I got one last thing I want to add. You want to add, you always say, we should add a little non football to the end. Oh, yes. Tennis. Yes. I want to add a tiny tennis ball. No, no, no. I'm excited about this. All right, give it to me. You like Victor Webb and Yama, right? Love them. 18 year old prospect, he's something you've never seen before. He has all he has your imagination going wild. Do you know what's cooler than one Victor web in Yama Dominique foxworth? What's that, Charlie? Two Victor webinars. And that's what tennis has right now. We've been waiting for two decades. And I say the we as in people, the group of people that actually care about tennis. We've been waiting for two decades for people that can actually beat Novak Djokovic, drop down Nadal, Roger Federer. We found one in Carlos sacras. He won the U.S. open. So most athletic guy we've ever seen playing tennis. That was so fun. Like watching Alcatraz play and the U.S. open was so fun. I was like, my introduction to him. You are a real tennis guy, so you knew about him. And I watched him, it was explosive athletic. It was everything that you want from your sport. So you're telling me there's somebody else who is comparable, give it to me. His name is holger runa. Great nickname on this guy. The great Dane, the great Dane. See, enormous? No, he's kind of he is kind of big, but he's from Denmark. And very different than alcaraz, stiffer. He's a power player. Huge serve and has been badly behaved in the past and people were wondering huge prospect if he was going to put it together. Well, he shows up in Paris this weekend on an indoor hardcore beats 5 of the top ten players in the world. Moves into top ten, wins a masters 1000. He beat alcaraz along the way into a draw from injury. But then he went toe to toe with Novak Djokovic. And beat him in the final. And this is significant. First of all, he's the first guy ever to beat 5 top ten players in 5 days. Second of all, beating Djokovic on his preferred surface as a 19 year old that just doesn't happen. And what's exciting with this is not just that their prospects, they didn't wait for Nadal and Djokovic to age out. They're actually beating them at the tail end of their prime. When is the next time I can see them? I don't want to hear about I want to watch it. Send me some clips or January 16th, we'll have coverage of the Australian open because it's going to be a battle of old versus young.

"The first one's the box. They're constipated. They're bad. We just keep on going through the same Tom Brady cycle. Oh, look at the NFC south. They're going to figure it out. Yeah. They're leading though, so I feel like, all right, I'm good on it. I did not watch that game. I watched the replay of the final couple drives because I was like, I can't watch this, this is terrible. So I'm with you. Spoiler alert, you missed nothing. I know. Both of those teams, like, I don't want to see this. Anyway, what's next? Second one's the packers. They stake. What are we doing? And now it's not even like for so long, the odds were that the betting odds were that they were going to actually win the NFC north. That's gone. We got iced out Kirk Cousins. They have such a lead games wise and the packers are so bad offensively that that's done. How many times can Kirk cause us do that trick? And we still be like, oh, it's so cool. I feel like Kirk Cousins. It's not cool. Let's be clear. It is not. I don't like it either, but it feels like it gets people like love it. They celebrate it on the Internet. His teammates love it. We've seen Kirk Cousins corny old white dude wearing chains like young black football player. This is hilarious. I guess it's not cute anymore. Ryan Fitzpatrick did it. It was cool. It's no longer cute. Give it up, Kirk. But I guess it's for them on the plane. It's not for us, but I think I'm more annoyed at the people on the Internet who are like, this is so awesome. They're now my favorite team. Anyway, next. The last one's the ramps. Oh yeah. They're done. Congratulations on your 2022 Super Bowl. That was that was great. We'll see you in 5 years when you have an entire new roster. Yeah. Enjoy LA, the sunshine that you guys are done. Oh no, Beckham and discussion for him or save that for later in the week. I got one thing there that Jay glazer reported that he's going to be cleared to play next week. They'll be like the ten month Mark. And I don't want to talk about the, I don't want to be the Twitter doctor and say, wow, after ten months, who knows how close he's going to be to being a 100%. But I do think that this is something to monitor for us because one of your themes of the season has been how receivers affect offenses and how number one receivers in particular, and he's got a really unique skill set of being able to take slants, get a lot of yards after the catch and beat people deep. And I really am going to be interested to see if that's a plug and play player immediately for a contender the joints. I assume he's off the table now for the chiefs because I can Darius Tony. But every other team conceivably should one another weapon like that. Yeah, I mean, especially the ravens with Bateman's issues. But I'm not sure that he would want to go there. Yeah, we'll see.

"So I hate you. But I think just straight. Yeah, sorry. I mean, I actually enjoyed the World Series. Yeah, I did. Because some of the playoffs until they started walking Bryce Harper because of analytics. I hate analytics so much, but it makes football so much fun. Analytics and football makes it make it better because analytics told people stop with the I formation banging into the back of lineman. Air it out. And so analytics is healthy for football. All right, what was the other one? The other one was like arguing that it's about the help that he's getting from Jalen waddle taken. Well, it's parsing value and I takes on this part too, but like parsing value of the dolphins offense with Mike mcdaniel, an accurate distributor of the football and to Tiger kale and Jalen waddle. So tyreek hill put up numbers without tua. And I think that tyre and tua was not good before Tyra kyo. So I think that's an easy one to dismiss. It's not to take anything away from Tiger hill, but I mean, away from to it. But if we're looking to make the tyreek hill argument, that one, I think, is easy to move on from. Now parsing the impact between him and jaylen waddle and Mike mcdaniel is a little harder. So again, I then look over to say, all right, are you saying that McDermott doesn't deserve any credit? Or Andy Reid doesn't deserve any credit. It feels like an argument that you only make if you want to undercut tyreek hill and not appreciate that what tends to happen is the guy who wins the MVP that's on a good team, which means there are other good players there. So the reason, I think we easily took away the strikes against it. But the argument for it, I think, is a little bit more complicated. Even though he has a thousand yards in his on pace for 2000 yard season, which is historic and rare was I guess Calvin Johnson was he the last one to get 2000 yards. He never has. No one has gotten to that. Johnson was just under 2000 yards. He finished just under the barrier in a 16 game season. Obviously, if there had been a 17th game, he would have gotten there. And I actually, okay, Terry keel right now. We should go over the numbers really quick. 76 receptions, 1104 yards and only three touchdowns so far. The reason that's significant is we know touchdown luck could and will regress. He could start stacking touchdowns in the second half of the season. 76 receptions puts him on pace for a 144 over the course of the season. Michael Thomas, who only caught slants, not like Tiger kill, is on has the record at one 49. So that's in that's in reach. And the yardage one he is on pace to break comfortably. It's on pace for 2085 yards. If you also could conceivably get to over the 2000 yard mark in 16 games this year. He has over a hundred targets already, which I think Cooper Cup is an interesting name to bring up is second with 93. So I think a reasonable argument against Tyree kill is Cooper Cup completed a Triple Crown last year and then come close to sniffing an MVP. But this goes back to a conversation that you

"Third part of it, canon MVPD, not a quarterback, just when you define value, let's take the third question first. MVP discussion is if we're going to be honest, it's more about a story. A narrative than it is about performance. I think that's fair. But if you're someone who believes that you have to give the quarterback then give a quarterback to MVP, which it feels like the league has gone completely in that direction. Then this is a waste of time discussion. It's something that I hate because it's not as interesting to me, but I understand. And the truest sense like the analytical sense, you can not have a position that's more valuable than quarterback. A good quarterback is going to be more valuable than anyone else if you're looking at value that way. But I think about it as impact and kind of the story that we're telling. So all the stuff that you presented out there is interesting, but those same facts cut against every other player because Stefon Diggs is ballin as I was looking at Tyra kills numbers in order to make this case Stefan Dix is having an incredible season. I think that Tyreke Hill is second or third for yards over expected yak, which is a weird little ancillary stat, but it suggests that he's doing a lot of work. Then Josh Allen is getting the numbers and credit for. So I'm not trying to say to Josh Allen isn't good or that Stefon Diggs is the reason for his success, although it's not a coincidence that Josh Allen got good with stuff on things got there. But what I am saying is if we're going to try to cut down my tyreek hill case because of woody surrounded by, then we could do the same thing too. I'm not trying to cut it down. I'm trying to help you strengthen it. We're going to go point by point and strengthen it because I do think he is the best single player in the NFL. Right now, for sure. And we've talked about the things that he contributes to or the skills that he has that makes it so very hard. As a cornerback, his ability, his quickness combined with his straight ahead speed and also all that in one person who can also track the ball and jump up and win contested catches. It's like you rarely find it all in one player. If he were taller I don't know that the game would be fair. He's almost a perfect receiver, otherwise. I think he's the best receiver in football. And I think he always was. But the greatness of Patrick Mahomes made us pretend like it was somebody else. And now we're seeing that no, they're both great together, which is why we saw historic offense, but Tyree kill is pretty special by himself. Yeah. So all right, so I think if you are someone who believes quarterbacks have to win the MVP, then you can't have a conversation with you. Yeah, you're ruining the award. You're not fun, but I had to bring it up. That's one of the proxy discussions around MVP. Yeah, that's your analytics nerd who doesn't like football and once everybody to optimize everything until we become baseball and we just do strikeouts and home runs.

"And the 61 62 NBA season Wilt Chamberlain average 50 points and more than 22 rebounds. And didn't win the MVP. Play the music. This is the Dominique foxworth show. All right, Charlie, what's up, buddy? How do you like that one off the top? Catch you off guard, surprising information that is shacking and doesn't seem fair? That was shocking to me when you told it to me this morning and it led me down at Google rabbit hole. A couple crazy things about that season. That was the year Oscar Robertson averaged a triple double for the first time in NBA history for an entire season. He also did not win the MVP. Bill Russell won the MVP. The Russell was not first team all NBA that year. Well, Chamberlain was first team all NBA. So we had the best center on first team all NBA, and the second best center winning MVP. Very strange. That's a conspiracy. We need to figure out what was happening with the voting. Speaking of voting, I think this is coming out on Tuesday, right? So go vote, do your civic duty. If we vote. But we do need to we need to find those ballots from the 61 62 season because how could Oscar Robinson not get it? Will it shamble and not get it and Bill Russell? I mean, we are celebrating Bill Russell this year. He died is the NBA is doing a bunch of Bill Russell celebrations. He won 11 titles, was the first player coach in or maybe it wasn't the first player coach, but he's definitely the first black coach at the Celtics, was amazing. But he stole, he stole the MVP that year. He stole one. I mean, let's be real. He averaged 1924 and 5. So it's pretty good season, but I digress. He was killing two. Speaking of MVPs, let's go back to football where the MVP race seems a little bit more confusing because we thought Josh Allen probably had it wrapped up until this kind of dud that he dropped against the jets recently, but I don't know, we can come back to Josh Allen, but I want to try something on you. I know how you're going to respond. You're not going to like it because you are part of the establishment. The MVP should be Tyree kill. It's the real MVP of the league. So I want your reaction before I support my position. I want your reaction to tyreek hill to be the MVP of the league. He is the best player in the league. Tyreek hill should be the MVP in the league. I mean, don't you see it? Well, this is where we're going to start parsing it. This is where we're going to start parsing it because I want to because this leads to a lot of spider webs. It's been off discussion. First spin off, like, is he the MVP if the offensive thing left is still excellent with Patrick Mahomes? Can that make Patrick Mahomes who's currently the betting favorite the MVP? Because that offense is able to hold water without tyreek hill. Second part of it. That Miami offense is a two pronged attack with jaylen waddle. How do you parse value there when you have the two fastest guys in the NFL playing next to each other?

"Because yeah, draymond green, Klay Thompson, Steph Curry, infinitely better at talking about Andrew Wiggins and Andrew Wiggins. He's not the guy that's going to sit down in front of you and bang on his chest and tell you all about how we did it and why he did it and how he's the baddest mother bleeper that's ever walked around the damn town. But he is. There is a conversation to be had and you know, I think Steph in his amazing game for performance, if it comes down to it and the warriors win it all, I expect Steph Curry to be MVP. But one more incredible staff performance will turn that conversation into Steph just came up there and wholeheartedly 100% took and earned that MVP and if he doesn't have that one more game, there will be somebody somewhere, maybe it's.

"How about that and you know you can you. Could you could say that he's been a you can't as a bust of the year but he had bieber only pitched fourteen and there's no as the bus to there no of course not but he's only pitched for half the year is what i'm saying so like if you could say trump is not one of the bus of the year because his six weeks were amazing. Can't you make the same argument on the ground bieber. Or they just stay pitch more comparatively. I but i have a major problem with with the injuries. I know you subscribe to this do that. You don't wanna penalize a guy for the unexpected injury especially when that's lengthier. The lessons for trout. You raise them. You're right. they got worse and we should have known a little better to you. Can you really say that. I bet i whisper because of the high velocity. But i don't think that was the case with him and shame bieber that that came out of nowhere. Of course it did but the bottom line for a fantasy manager is if the got pitcher me. I don't care if it was because of injury or suspension or whatever it was he didn't pitch for me. The bottom line is you. Don't get an astros for finishing in second place. So i mean i've got a league where i'm not gonna win. Okay at steve's gonna finish second it's going to be who's going to win the league It's going to be our friends scott Who's a football guy. He's gonna win the baseball and he listens to the show. Scotty scott and he's going to win the league because part of the reason spratt police. And i'm not going to win. The league is because i have trout. And i have bieber now one anyway but i got thirty. Six games out of trout and fourteen starts out of bieber and then it became official. I couldn't compete. I and this is a debate. That i don't think has a right answer to it. I mean the you brought football. Under what i'll bring football into it. This is my. This is the consistency ratings question for me. Every single year people say why are you docking players for injury absences while i am dot com for injury absences. Because you didn't have them isn't consistency is about so you're from that argument dead on that. That's that's my point is i. don't i feel bad for. I mean they didn't play from me. I'm just. I think that if you if you bake an injury discount into the player on draft day. I'm a little more forgiving the judgment at the end of the year data affairs. Yes bieber and degrom. We do not expect to get hurt next year. Do we think either making thirty starts. We never talked about bieber. I still i am very worried about what jake grounds future holds Very worried about this sunday night. Matchup kyle gibson of you know what. I'm not worried because i don't even care anymore. Is it also red team. They're trying to win more than they lose their not. A bluff team phillies mets. Enjoy it it's on. Espn kyle gibson. Who's a lot of fun. Retired the first twelve cubs the other day and then couldn't retire any of the next row against richhill who's really old gibson and hill critical series. That has an absolutely critical series for those teams one of them needs to sweep the other and neither will because they're both incompetent teams so the point here is going to gain enough ground. We need to go like twelve and four to catch atlanta atlanta. Goes five hundred. I mean come on happening. The cardinals are going adam. Wainwright is beating walker bueller to not only friday night but in the one game playoffs. I kinda like that. Yeah you know that's happening fat. Yeah but he's beating bueller. I do kind of like that. that projection. Yeah but i'm saying that if he wants to get in. They need to take command immediately. 'cause you know i mean. Let's go to boston. After that and then there are three in milwaukee so the necessary to your your phillies however the done a stake they wanna hit her if the if the phillies sweep the mets. They're in prime position to take either division. You're playing nothing but home baltimore pittsburgh the following week yet but that's patriot lost three out of four to colorado okay. I'm not saying that. I see them doing it. I'm saying that if they did that. Move on trinity. I can't remember a team. I disliked as much as this current phillies tape. Oh great they got eighty five percent. Good for you. You got there on september fifteenth. You've got eighty five percent of vaccinate. Congratulations nowhere road trips. But yeah now you're giving on stripping your feeling about them from a fan's perspective from fantasy perspective if they do this that's really gonna matter to us. Those don't see catching the cardinals or the reds or the padres for that matter atlanta but they are trying to help somebody and fantasy other any pictures this weekend that you actually like the you think you would pick up and use. I proud on bail league washington. Oh yeah lower. I love lower against chicago at home. Lowers lineup yes. J. hap- he's been here in san diego at home with no krona worth. How about the turnaround. And i had him in. Labor is been. He's been pretty good pretty good. Yeah that's about it. yeah. I'm trying to scroll through to see else I don't see anything else that matters for starting pitcher. I mean at this point. Like i don't wanna say bring you know go with who you brought. But because i added eric lower and a key league where i need to win head to head. Oh trump's hernandez was my pick from the friday game pittsburgh home looking up pittsburgh always pittsburgh. That's why i brought up my eighty dollars. Just won a game in a similar league elliott hernandez is he going deep enough in games. Where you to enjoy him. No but it doesn't matter when it's that was the nfl tenor. Yeah give me the five hundred third. They're going to be quality home game. Pittsburgh come on bob now. No one brings more quality than kyle. Soppe he come on in. "I'm i'm rooting for toronto. Like pretty much out so toronto. Try to be dangerous to man. Because robbie ray in a one game playoff against garrett cole i mean everybody would take coal but robbie ray would you take robbie ray. Rhetorical like who is having the better fantasy season call is is. They're basically tied right now in fantasy. And i why would that be because cole has more wins. Because he's an robbie ray has had man is on believable. You realize last year he walked forty five hitters in. Fifty one and two thirds. He's still hasn't worked. Forty five hitters this entire season in twenty nine starts. it's unbelie. i've never seen anything like it. Not only that if you look at his entire professional career dating back to two thousand ten as a member of the washington nationals. You're looking at the two point. Two three case for ninety has we're talking about that as seriously more than a full walk per nine innings lower than he's had in any of the of the other professional seasons he's got a six point three percent walk rate x nearly two percent beneath almost any other stoppings ad for any period of time in the whole pro career and we mentioned on the show before not. Nobody saw this coming. Nobody saw this kind of breakthrough but he did make the commitment to much better fitness and he put a little bit more polish on the slider. Got some more break to it. I think some of the rpm went up on there. I'd have to dig into where those are at the stage of the season. But he made some definite tweaks and sometimes when a player does this during spring training. That leads to a breakthrough to this level. None of us ought to this extent. There's no reason you should invest to the point. You expect this but kudos to him. And i hope he goes into next season with that same kind of approach. Same kind of sharpness control. I love it. This is just a great fantasy baseball story. So you darvish kind of did this a year or two ago where he just stop walking people robbie ray unbelievable season. He may win the cy young award depending how he finishes he may win. An important league depending on how he finishes and you as well. So i was looking at the walks leaders and obviously it's not rates that total walks but is there somebody on this listener blake. Snow already had his cy young season. He might be out for the rest of this season. Tunnel walks this year. I'm looking at the walks leaders and trying to figure out who could be next year to just stop walking. People and become a monster pitcher and lance mccullers is actually one walk off the major league lead. He has three twelve. Era whip one point two four which is still good. He's hard to hit. No home runs. No hits allowed. His biggest problem walks strikes people out. Lance mccullers could make that to make strides if you could just chop down the walks to be a top ten fantasy pitcher. Yep and mccullers case He's got that amazing curveball. They're few players in baseball of breaking pitch. That has the kind of swing and miss nature. That lance mccullers does and. That's the ticket to being a cy young caliber player. So when you talk upside. Lance mccullers belongs in the conversation. He's actually had a very good year. And you're right that. If he does improve that control next season he could take another major step. He's done it a couple of times before it has major league career in limited time but next year. Maybe he is. I like that as a candidate that navies and the phone saying what about me. And i'm gonna say no zach. You're not going to be a contender next. Exact davies leads. The major leagues walks with seventy right now and that's not very promising point. Five four winning exacts not giving up. either he's still calling go to voicemail already davies. He's hurt us. He's he's like really. I agree season should be over. Like snell's up to louis steel. That's a little bit troubling. That's very high walk rate for him. That's what's killing his web. But overall i mean he's rebounded after terrible april lewis was still a top twenty pitcher for you in two thousand twenty two drafts close right. It's close. i'd like to get him in there. Because you know how much respect. I have for the change. He has got one of the game's best. Anybody i can think here i would take. I would take the i think. That's tyler maley calling yourself. Oh now saying what about me. Kim breakout next year. You can read got next year. Put that what's what's really you know what's really fun is when somebody calls your house and then calls your cell phone right afterwards. It's just relentless tyler care. Wait be half an hour. I like see. I'm i'm with you. I think you take the more recent returns over the full year. you don't even feel bad pandemic. i know some people don't believe it. Our phones are gonna ring while we're doing shows from home and office. Kyle's his waterlogged basement and lego destroyed the better off the phone rings off the hook soviet my i was going to ring any second and i got the worst on this one is normally. I could hit the little volume all thing on the stand. I have on my desk but this case my son has my has the headset so i can't do anything. It's not shutting it off. Gosh amazon delivery pose tyler. Maley would be on my list of potential breakouts next year as well. Freddie pearls has already broken out but he's actually twenty-first in the majors in walks curl. If he gets the volume boosts next year could be in there so that might not even be some sort of tweet. That might just be more trust in giving him more starts. Peralta or lewis. Stephen next year drafts. A say peralta just because of the filthy all around stuff. It's one hundred and thirty three innings. I think next year he could get up to one seventy five. They can push a little bit. More question would be whether he can handle it all right enough of all the jocularity. Now it's time for well you know. I guess we could do. The mike. Trout might trust for the season. So is joe. Adele like some. Maybe there's a newsmakers. I wrote a piece about trout. We've talked about trout. Ad nauseam on this show and i said late. Second round early third. I said he's not the bus of the year. I'm not gonna tell you who it is. You need to read the store to figure that out but just give me briefly Because you know we gotta tied in. The news might trout for you. Is he better than amid second round. Pick for you and romeo and or points leaked drafts next year. So this is another case. Rather have him in the non traditional rodeo in our game compared to something deeper also i would rather have him though. So for example labor talloires. Much less likely. Al only much less likely if it's sabre metrically inclined to have told you that..

"Sorry i'm eric arvo. fantasy focus. Baseball is presented by linked in jobs. We talk about how great franks rondeau is so. I'm rooting for him. To hit home. Runs against my favorite team on wednesday night. And he does and they blow to more saves he's got like fifty family members in the stands of philadelphia because he's from new jersey which is philadelphia close to and he's laughing any smiling and he's dancing around any points in the dugout. He's having the best time of anybody right now for a terrible team buddies on one of my fantasy teams. I am rooting for frank. Swindell and let's we're way past the yellow student and by the way folks is unbelievable beyond clinched at this point. We're has that. Say hello to twenty twenty one and you know i hate cops but making it say hello to twenty twenty one version of two thousand eighteen luke voight. Wow and by the way he couldn't will have turned the career into what luke voice has become. Well i my follow up to that is. What has luke's voids career become. What is okay. But when it's twenty twenty one. And i'm talking about twenty eighteen there've been chunks of projections. Let's assume that both luke void and frank swindell are starting first baseman next season maybe for the yankees and cubs maybe elsewhere. Maybe the yankees have to move voight. Who knows if they bring rizzo back so give them each like five hundred at least five hundred plate appearances. Give me their numbers. That's interesting i hadn't thought of void. I thought of other like christian walker types. Who toiled in the minors forever but voigt did to are either these guys hitting thirty home runs and batting two eighty next year. I don't while void no way on the two eighty batting average. The problem i have now is just the injuries. I i do question that he's had a difficult time staying on the field. That's not just the season two. So let's say he's in the fifties. I'd probably give him twenty five. Ish maybe up to thirty home runs as a projection line coming off this year. Probably a little more optimistic about dell hit two seventy because of the contact nature of his game. But i don't know if he gets beyond twenty five home runs and the allies hot realize voight lead the majors in the two months season last year with like twenty two so project in two thousand five over six months even with injuries is rather low. Isn't it your forty mark. The injuries are that big of a problem. You're right he could hit forty runs if we have good luck in the health department and by the way we gotta talk about the fact that two of the yankees who had major injury questions coming into this year had no issues at all in aaron. Judge giancarlo stanton and we've seen historically guys like evan. Longoria became a much healthier player. Ian kinzler did it despite having an injury prone label so anything can really happen. You're right void. Couldn't forty home runs. I think he's likely to fifties batting average guy. In the best case scenario you brought up a good point here. And i think it's important. Let's talk about the yankees. Then what did the yankees look like in twenty twenty two for fantasy purposes. Where are you taking judge because he has proven to be healthy player this year. Is that break the streak does that. Make us rethink him. You know glacier taurus. The power just gone what he has stolen. I think fifteen basis. That's interesting mayo's got to be better and this mean i'm looking at least now. Judge is the best player on the team. Lemay was second because it does take walks but no power. He'll score runs stanton as power. Joey gallo. he'll be back is power and but he's the strikeouts my goodness he's already one hundred ninety. Five strikeouts your catcher. So tourists playing second. I assume are sell. Gimme gimme a look at the yankees next year. I'm curious what you think. I'm curious to see whether this experiment now shifting lemay third gio or shell at a shortstop. It's gonna stick for next year by the way the yankees could dive into the shortstop agent. Bowl it's very deep as we all know. I think that is probably what's happening by. They're getting hobby by. That's good luck with it. That's my yankees think is a fit. I don't but they might. I'm not going to dispute the possibility. But i think the yankees are on cory seager. That's just my opinion they left. You hit hitter. that's for sure. Yeah and i think that's the key here. Is that the yankees. Want to balance out the lineup. That's a prime opportunity to do. The mayor slides the third seger take short towards those back to second or maybe he's under a little bit less pressure. If i want praise anything that tourist did this year he's fourteen of seventeen and stolen bases that's encouraging because if you add twenty twenty five homer pop to ten stolen bases even next season. That's a nice bounce back on a year is garrett cole. The only yankee worthy of going in the first five rounds next season silence. I think that judge gets close but yet we're not going durable where we can't call judge durable. We're talking about you. And you're talking about traditional rodeo. Well points leagues. You'd be better right. I also think there are cases to be made for some of the others lemay hughes rebound prospects get a little better when you reward him for the disciplined numbers. Joey gallo becomes a little more attractive in the non traditional rodeo. Probably not points because of the case. But yeah i i see where you're at here but i think veteran points than rodeo because batting average were so for example the six by six pitch a lot where on bass and slugging come in he is hugely more valuable format. Not it's interesting. I mean you wouldn't expect his yankee team naps so many question marks. But they're here. We are and what a race the teams in the alleys for two wild card spots. I love this idea asked on youtube. Yes it's dragging a little bit but it looks like oakland's out seattle. God bless been great season. Davey but i don't think you're sticking around here so it's the three teams in the american league. I don't know david soloist. Let's go to all our friends. Dodgers blew out the blue the pirates nine great news within three games now of the giants in the national league west. Max muncie to home runs last last night and rb seventy six now. Twenty eight homers seventy five. Rbi's a four eight on base average. That's nine eighty two old esat. Beg he is having a year. We have the mvp in both leagues playing in los angeles right. Now it's a good question. Tiny hit his fortieth home run of the year last night. Forty home runs and eight innings. Eight innings eight strikeouts eight innings longest outing of the year. Yup i mean he's mvp. The american league right. yeah. I wanted to months last night was getting. Mvp chance and after the game or hey follow me here on our fancy sound page Here's what max said about. Mvp chance probably one of the cooler moments ever had in my career You know it was. It was kind of wild I had to hold back a small in the batter's box but You know the most important thing to me is winning getting this team back to the playoffs and hoping the world series and you know if any awards come from that that's awesome but you know that's really all i care about that's all that's all i've ever cared about since being over here at the dodgers and that's that's not going to change anytime soon. You know so if. I would ever agnew to help team. And that's gonna do. And here's what dave roberts said about muncie and the mvp award. I think obviously the the thing that's the most consistent is his production as far as there's no ebbs and flows. He's just been very consistent as far as getting on base driving and run slugging posts. It's just so you know. Now there's that mvp talk and it's well deserved but still think and know that all max cares about is helping us when a ballgame each night and and i think all the results is just a byproduct to that mindset. So the max muncie. Is the third pick in vegas right now to win the most valuable player that not to tease junior is number one. And he's pretty heavy favorite. He's minus one ten bryce harper. Who's having a good year in. Philly is second and max months is third trae turner's actually fourth. Wow really yeah trey turner's fourth on that list so mean we're having a great year in washington and brings his act to the dodgers and has been nothing short of great for for us. I mean going to be a kuni until he got hurt. Correct off to a great start has thirty two home runs. And he's avenue grade offensive. Your but the padres have disappointing. I just don't understand in baseball. Autorizher drifting run out of the race. Too bad it got a little padres the friars. I don't know if i don't know what the difference is in baseball. Where seems to be in in basketball is usually best player on the best team. Version of that baseball. It's just whoever has the best statistical season so mean to me. It's atanas tiny running away within the al forty home runs like that and what he's done you know. There's there's never been a pitcher whose hit forty home runs. I even babe ruth. There's never been anything in our lifetimes. Like shohei ohtani. Never been the idea of when i was a little kid thinking about baseball. The idea that somebody could both be a nine game winner. I think he's no he's eight and one know and hit. Forty home runs in a season is just crazy. Well i keep waiting for him to slow down because they you know at some point he's going to get tired and he's pitching hit. He's playing every day but he's getting better like his last six starts and you can tell i just sit around the so i know these stats off the top of my shirt. His last six starts. He's gone six or more innings getting stronger as a pitcher. Yeah here's jeff passan on shohei ohtani never seen a player like one moment on jeff passan they. He's under team control. Now until after the twenty twenty. Three season and lindsey made the case that the angels should not have traded one of their best starting pitchers in andrew. Heaney was never been great year but but one of their reliable starting pitchers at the trade deadline instead of trying to fortify things. Shohei ohtani and mike trout on the roster. The two best players in major league baseball is it fair to say they're the two best players in major league. Baseball wouldn't go that far. Just because who they are in the american league ale but to junior kunia i think are one sotos up there too. Well my trousers. I heard a lot but my trout is the best player on pillow. Otani that i've seen in my lifetime. I'll go with that. So now is amazing. He is that guy. And every time i watch him just like blown away so i think he's at the same level as trout. He just got here last year. So here is passing. Never seen a player like shohei ohtani babe. Ruth was playing against pitchers who were thrown eighty-five miles an hour. Shohei otani is doing this..

"He is not just dominating you pretty much any opponent that he faces but to me. Joe ellis joel is scary. In how philadelphia defense can be scary but then you look at the other side of things and you wonder will go through stretches where they may be stagnant or struggles score so i. I don't know if there's a good answer and you also have shooters now like have shooters open up the floor again for seventy sixers that we didn't really see You know the last two postseasons or whatever whatever it may be. So i don't i wouldn't necessarily say one over the other but i would say that the the lack of inside size for the nets combated with what joel embiid into the league he. He's a star drops sir headphone did. It was falling out. But i also didn't wanna touch it. Because i thought it was gonna hang up and zoom. That's fair and we will end though on that note though sir we appreciate. I will look forward to your positive comments on the defense. You and our believe. It's clicking on all cylinders right. You're acting like we're saying they're one of the top defenses in the league. You you just need to be able to look like is yon is going to go for forty nine again. No but some point. You've got to stop like a guy the you got to stop an mba. You can stop a y'all got to get it. But but just to that point against i mean milwaukee scored one hundred seventeen the nets lost by three. They gave up twenty points off. Turnovers and james harden was sitting on the bench like a dance. Where the what's that would do a moral victory. Now we come on moral victory I'm just saying you're asking is yang. Maybe not in. I don't know the when you're projecting you're asking me to project. I think we'll walk. I also think milwaukee's top like really walk us. A tremendous team philidelphia's a tremendous state. Who who knows what. Joel also in sweat like doc rivers wrong. How that changes what you see. I mean i. I don't i. I don't think there is an easy path or easy route or easy answer for any of these teams just because you know a lot is just going to depend on the chess match of what the postseason and i think. That's what we're all excited for a lot as well for all of these teams depending on health Where where does that. Where does that janas block on. Durant rank for you. That was wild. Like i don't think i've ever seen like drake is never been blocked. No no i'm a seven footer. with a wingspan. That gets you up to like eight and a half getting blocked by on that. I've never seen a block. Like that. On a kevin durant type. No no and he came out of nowhere. I was shocked. I was shocked. Yeah i mean janas. He's news a freak. "mvp n. b." Discussed on The Crossover NBA Show with Chris Mannix
"How was your friday show. I didn't get a chance to listen to it. It's in the queue. I was the friday show. I mean. I don't know how you could possibly mean waiting this long. I don't really know what else do you possibly have to do. You missed me and evan wash the scheduling czar of the nba talking about playing the discouraging of tanking. The fact that this late in the season they have way more teams competing than ever before we talked about all the other aspects of this compressed schedule and the weird season injuries whether that's upper down the two game series. Is that something that maybe we could see a real schedule next season when things return to normal all of the logistics and all the the fun insiders stuff about the schedule and all that this year. So yeah you should go. Listen chris when you've got your double dipping aren't you. You're taking interviews that you're using for prince and your podcast. Actually not this case. I did in fact talk to twice once for the story that i did last week. And then the podcast. Completely separate thing i swear. Now i'm i'm not knocking it. I think in the next couple of weeks. You're probably gonna hear several members of utah jazz on this podcast previous interviews that i've done but check out. Howard friday podcasts yet. Another one this week do have one coming this week with a. I'll just say with a former coach. I don't wanna spacey the name just yet in case that the scheduling doesn't work out. But i got some good lined up all right. Check that out on the crossover beat howard does his own podcast every friday and we do this one on tuesdays and for this episode. How did the chris paul his mvp candidacy. I wanna talk about the lakers. And some of their problems. They're having but you. And i have had a debate over the last few podcasts about the nets and the importance i guess of continuity of team chemistry does talent win out or will the nets when we look back on this three or four months from now a look back and say well. The nets needed more time as a group together as we often do at the top of every show we bring in somebody smarter than us today. It is sarah stock. The great analyst from yes network can check her out on f s one as well sarah. Welcome to the show first of all. Thanks for having me. This is my first time on yours and howard's podcast. And i'm honored i'm humbled and i'm gonna clip that statement because mannix. I think that's the first time you have said something relatively nice to me to my face. Since i've known you disagree with that. I know entire. I'm going to have to go back and check the tape. Because i'm pretty sure i was not at this tape. No thanks. I appreciate it sir. Settled the debate here. Because maybe there's a middle ground. Maybe it's not one side or the other but howard's of the belief and howard even correct me if i'm wrong. That chemistry matters with his team. That the fact that they've only played what seven games together i'm talking about. James harden kevin durant and kyrie irving x number of minutes and that may not change that significantly over the rest of the regular season. That is going to become an issue for this team in the playoffs. I look at it on a little bit of a different or a lot of different lens. Where i think that these guys just awesome durant. It's irving it's hard and all three of these guys are on the floor..

"By michael. The pod peanut. And guess what michael. I cannot handle another mvp conversation. It's just everywhere all the time to me. The answer is obvious. it's nikola yokich of the denver nuggets. If you don't agree well maybe save it for a couple of weeks michael. Because i don't want to hear it right now. It's just been too much of that everywhere. So here's how. I wanna flip it and tell me you're with me on this. Let's dig into our. You know our imagination side of our brain a little. Let's get a little bit wacky. Let's try to channel that oracle from oregon energy that i used to predict the james harden and trade to the brooklyn nets in advance. And that you use to predict steph. Curry was going to be entertaining this year before the your proudest achievement in prediction. And i'm very happy for you. Let's use that energy to forecast the twenty twenty six nba mvp race. So michael this is standing up for all time. These are the predictions that are really going to matter..
