The Pandemic Has Created a Modern-Day Spice Boom

"And if you've been spending a little more time in the kitchen since the pandemic began you're not alone. More than half of grocery. Shoppers have discovered a new love of cooking. According to a recent report by sales and marketing firm agusta so much so in fact that many consumers say they plan to keep cooking even when restaurants resume full regular operations but there are only so many pots of chicken noodle soup and beef stew you can whip up before you're craving something else right well as home chefs tired of their standard menus. They began getting a little more creative with spices and seasonings. While restaurant business was down mccormick and company the country's largest spice manufacturer saw consumer demand for its spices and herbs spike. Thirty five percent over the previous year that according to data analytics firm information resources this modern day spice boom made it tough for some consumers to find staples like garlic powder pumpkin pie spice and vanilla extract for their holiday meals. The washington post reports maryland-based mccormick has also doubled down on the notion that consumers want more flavor in clean eating options in the mix. The company made two notable acquisitions in twenty twenty. I it added. Show lula hot sauce. Premium mexican hot sauce brand portfolio. Then late in two thousand twenty. The company acquired phone international align of natural flavors another company benefiting from the spice. Boom is pepsi's spices based in wisconsin founder bill pansy told the washington post quote. People are cooking to get in touch with who they are in these times of stress. Well based on the way vanilla beans flew off the shelves this year. People must have gotten very in touch with themselves while pansies been dealing with shortages in supplies in packaging. Its founder says. He's been impressed by the level of international cooperation in his supply chain while the spice boom is holding steady for now. Some question what will happen when we can freely go to restaurants again probably more of the same at least for now. The company is transitioned its factories to twenty four hour to meet demand. The company estimated that created the equivalent of an extra factory's output by the end of last year pens actually shut down when it saw a spike in orders early in the pandemic we could reconfigure its warehouse to keep workers safe and socially distanced. The Truth to Shining Brightly & Letting the World See You by Shirley of Daring Living

"The truth to shining brightly and letting the world see you by shirley of daring living dot com. Today i wanna share one truth shining brightly and presenting yourself in this world how it all started and some background into my past. Last weekend i attended a series of events held by mpg. Tgi where house honor to connect with a group of exchange university students from taiwan is a program that was involved in during my graduate years so group that holds very dear to my heart was again at the event. I saw my old self. Who as if. I was back there in the organizing team with them just a few years ago struggling and carrying along with me the overwhelming burden of school. The pressure of meeting up to appearance appearances. Society's expectations the constant struggle to finding my passions and most importantly the desperation to reaching that never ending benchmark of set forward for myself. I was never good enough this time. However i was the bystander with much more communist and openness than before i felt the exchange tunes hopes dreams aspirations for the future also saw their personal struggles of finding themselves searching for a place to belong in this world this experience stirred up a gentle reminder. I think we all deserve to hear about presenting ourselves to this world while also staying true to who we are. You do not have to be in the spotlight to shine in this society and organizations today that a certain type of people that everyone looks up to in order to be successful even during my years in business school in every class we were encouraged. Step onto the stage and take the spotlight own. The room with confidence communicate inspire people with our ideas see. We were taught to be leaders. Not just any type of leader. The extroverted charismatic leaders that were highly valued. Sometimes the idea you need to communicate is so important they have to take the stage to express them to the right people but being the center of the attention is not where everyone thrives for me. It is not where i thrive is not where i can be myself. You do not have to be in the spotlight to shine. If you not feel comfortable leading group or being in the center of attention it is okay was important is you must understand yourself and find the best method and environment that suits you where you can effectively and truthfully express yourself and what you have to offer. I used a model these attention loving sociable charismatic extroverts and thought i had to be them in order to be successful in life but the truth is everyone of our personalities is so different. According to the myers briggs personality test we generally group are personality traits in this world into sixteen different types out of these sixteen half of them are extroverts. Matt of the eight only two of them are considered to have the natural charismatic trait mehan. Tj and ian fj. So what does that mean for. Those of us who do not belong as an emt j. or espn fj. While it means that you simply cannot pretend to be someone you are not and he should not have to be even if you are one of the two leadership type personalities. How much do you understand yourself. Be aware of your strengths weaknesses. Any environment that you are most comfortable in but of course these personality tests are just a start because they are just categories and still don't fully define you dive into your past experiences if think about what you enjoy doing try different hobbies follow your curiosities engage and take part in different groups and communities find out the best way for you to express yourself to the world. Perhaps it is through art through inventions through the internet to writing or through verbal communication. What kind of environment. You thrive in his through one on one conversations or in small groups or in a big stadium with hundreds of people to work better by yourself or a team. We are all different. Don't ever compare yourself in your situation with someone else's focus on yourself work on yourself. That's the only way for you to grow what the world needs while we really need are all types of people portraying different strengths in this world. Q. imagine what it would be like if the world is filled only with allowed charismatic extroverts and actually be pretty scary place to be and nothing would ever get done. We do need charismatic. People in this world to inspiring gather people together a will. We need also are quieter introverted. People and leaders who prefer to stay behind the scenes and are not afraid to let others take the spotlight. Moee need our brave people who choose to believe and follow crazy leaders with visions. What we need are committed people who follow through with what they say and can put words into actions when we need are open minded people who can really lean in and listen first before speaking while we need are kind people who have compassion and can show empathy in this cruel world. What we really need are people who have strong self awareness who are honest and truthful to themselves so that men return they can be their best selves to better serve this world quote. Ask yourself when makes you come alive and go do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive

Doc Rivers was set to take break, says he 'couldn't turn down' opportunity to coach Philadelphia 76ers

"A week after Doc rivers in the clippers parted ways the sixers introduced rivers as their new head coach yesterday docks that he wasn't willing to coach just anyone but the talent and Philly made it a tough opportunity to turn down. That was gonNA coach anybody I can tell you that I was ready to take a break and. It just depends on the team that was available, and if I thought that team in my opinion was ready to win. That excited me and when you look at these players as young players and their potential. The fact that they've had. So much success in some ways at the age is that they are already. And where I believe they can go for me is is a job you just couldn't turn down. and. That's why I'm here. Certainly a loaded roster Zach Thomas still here with us with Steven you're up first at the end of the day, which is the tougher Doda to coach. Do you think it's PG thirteen and? Or would you go in beat and Simmons for dot? To to me, it's a Koala MPG. It's a tough. It's a tough situation because of where they are in their careers. Your I if you are a wild linnet, you're a two-time champion, the two time NBA Finals MVP portly. You're a bit indifferent as a personality. You're very businesslike approach. You go out doing what you need to do as it pertains to doing your jobs your job but in terms of galvanizing the troops around you, that's not Hawaii. Limit is you search around you talk around NBA circles that's what you consistently here in the case of. Paul George Obviously Paul Georgia's one of the more talented you know two way players in the NBA. He's a star, but unfortunately in his postseason career particularly, this postseason that was not the case and if your doc rivers and you walked into that situation, you got guys the veterans they're established stars they've got set in their ways. They believe there's a certain way to do things and what have you, and as a result, it ended up being an incredible challenge particularly when you consider what doc rivers had to absorb once Leonard Arrive Kawhi Leonard Arrive. At once Paul George Wounded Forces the clippers to trade to form in order to acquire Paul George because that's the person that he wanted to play. He wanted to play with he was GonNa practice what he felt necessary use GonNa take games off in terms of game you know load management when he wanted to he was gonNA play when he wanted to during the regular season of course, always available during the players but all of these things assist to what makes life difficult for coach particularly when you have ownership making these kind of investments that's problematic in the case of New Philadelphia Yes embiid, and Ben Simmons are young. And you gotTa get a Ben Simmons to shoot the boy only attempted seven three point the entire season last year Joel embiid attempted one, hundred, seventy two. So one guy needs to get the pulse more and stop having this big backside on a on the perimeter and the other guy needs to develop a perimeter shot. So he could be much more of a formative formidable threat, but they both incredibly young they both got a lot of promise and a lot of future. Ahead of them and they able, you know they're trainable to some degree as opposed to be definitively set in their ways because they don't have any definitive set ways that has really really worked for them and I think that's the difference. That's why I'd say it's it's tougher to coach. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George at this stage particularly for Doc rivers and what he had to deal with last year with the clippers then it would be for him to coach Embiid. EMBIID. And Ben Simmons.

When Pilots Want to Visit The Beach

"Okay the first one you know. We're all kind of tired of the sheltering in place nonsense, and apparently somebody and the UK also just kind of got fed up with it Let's see this is from UK Aviation News? A privately owned aircraft landed at a closed RAF base without permission on bank holiday Monday, according to the Modi's air safety, information, management system, or I like to call it. Assumes A S I M S. The report filed set. Asked him. Adam's okay assumes. Let's just say. Let's just call it the air. Safety Information Management System has. Okay! That's enough plugs for them. The report filed says that pilots PAC twelve November four one to Mike. Douglas took off from fair. Oaks airfield in Surrey and flew to F- Valley on Anglesey. As. It was a bank holiday or a valley was closed in work was being carried out on runway, one nine, according to the report, the pilot attempted to call the tower frequency several times, but despite receiving no response landed on runway, one nine RAF, Valley's fire crews all the aircraft, and assuming it was in distress, attended the seen as an emergency. It was quickly determined though that the aircraft was not an emergency and the military provost guard service. The MPG s attended the scene to find out what happened. I guess neck with these people would like machine guns. And coming to check things out it's it's a training base in these Sort of government policemen okay so now. I doubt that it would be a different reception at a an American military base I O. K. The pilot told them he had flown from London to go to the beach. When the pilot was informed about the restrictions in place in Wales, due to corona virus. He told them that Oh. It was okay I had it two months ago. Shouldn't have to worry about me. Honesty. The pilot went on to inform the MPG. That he had found the airfield on Google Earth. That's a great way to do your flight planning. Planning. And wait a minute. He also looked it up on wikipedia. He read that it handled civilian traffic as well. Aria Valley is also home to Anglesey airport, which sees daily flights from Cardiff airport only, but has a strict prior permission required system PTR system, which obviously he didn't use. We have now on the screen. A photo of the young Captain Nick and a a matches the very beach that is. In fact soon I think we're GonNa see a PC twelve going right. On why he would wanna go visit that beach because it's full of pebbles is hardly any sand the me, but that that Bank of The bank that is literally the edge of the field in fact, run the top left corner. 'I Played A Season Of The WNBA Secretly Pregnant'

"So Alexis tell us about Schuyler digging Smith the player Skyward Digging. Smith is phenomenal biggest. She has obviously the ability to score in score. Well but she is a great facilitator a true floor. General did first of all so not only can she make shots for herself and score really well on her own but she also is very good at finding her teammates and making sure they have opportunities and what she like as a person. I tried a lot of different sports. Basketball was the one that kind of stuck with me. Something does drove me and continue to drive me. I wanted to be the best very vocal. Very passionate very young. I guess and fresh you can see that through her through endorsements and her the workout kind and one two and three and four contracts relief contract threatening. That's right this is ridiculous Schuyler Digging Smith but not as ridiculous as an outdated sports drink and then on social media just her vocalness she was very vocal about. Wnba athletes getting equal pay. Don't act like you don't see the discrepancy. You know adult. Don't make me feel like I'm crazy. This is not new as far as not getting paid and she actually sat out last season after giving birth to her son and while she was out she was pretty vocal about her unhappiness with how her team the Dallas Wings handled her becoming a new mom. Can you walk us through that drama? So during the two thousand nineteen season that Skyler was sitting out. After having a baby she took to twitter and expressed how she was unhappy with the organization and didn't feel. They supported her through her pregnancy. She wrote people. Call me a quitter. Said I gave up on my team. Not Knowing took two full months away from everything because the postpartum depression with limited sources to help me be successful mentally and physically but just wait though keep that same energy continue. I've played the entire season pregnant last year. All Star in the league top three to five in MPG. Didn't tell a soul. Wow it was very eye opening for all of us and really the catalyst who okay. She is going to step away from this organization eventually right so that lack of support leads her to request a trade from the wings. Yes where she was going to go was obviously a mystery and with that she got interest from multiple teams the Phoenix Mercury. Being one of them. And when did we first start to hear that the mercury were serious about Landing Skyler Diggins? The mercury are a pretty good at keeping things. You Know Fairly Hush Hush I think rumors were swirling that it could be a potential landing spot but really it didn't start until WNBA free agency opened up on February tenth. Lots of signings lots of trades. Lots of deals happen the very first day but then on the second day the Phoenix Mercury sent one of their all-stars to WanNa Bonner to the Connecticut Sun in exchange for two top ten twenty twenty draft picks and a twenty twenty one first round draft pick and that kind of sets the rumors ablaze of. What are they going to do with that? Who are they going to get? And that's when Schuyler is name really started popping up in association with the Mercury the Dewana trade happened on the eleventh and twenty four hours after It was announced that Skyler would come to Phoenix. And tell us about this mercury team that Skyler diggins joining you have arguably the best player in the world in Diana Teresi Rossi barrels luxury back in front or Ossius. Twenty-five she's fiery on and off the court. She's opinionated. She will tell it like it is when she has the ball in her hands. She is controlling every aspect of the game and making sure that the ball gets where it needs to be a Rossi fodder for the Finnish dish from Diana Toronto and the chemistry that you see her build with her teammates in practice and in Games when she is playing is second to none and Brittany griner at center One of the most dominant athletes on the court favorite thing is blocking Williams workings rider system. She holds the WNBA record in blocks in a single game and single season so definitely a lot of all stars around Schuyler. The mercury are clearly already stacked but despite that they've had a couple of really disappointing years last season. Diana GERACI was injured and the team lost during the first round of the playoffs. Chicago sky around two decisive victory over Phoenix seventy six. The final teams will often start thinking about a rebuild after underperforming like this or when injuries catch up with marquee players was that ever a thought in Phoenix. Not a rebuild but a kind of re strategize a focus on getting healthy a focus on Dan atrocity getting back one hundred percent. Britney griner toward the end of the season was dealing with injuries. I think a big thing for the mercury knowing that Diana Tracy is thirty seven years old and likely at the tail end of her career that it was important to make one big last tidal run. But I think part of getting all those draft picks for Dewana and setting the stage for this blockbuster trade was really to put the team in a great position to contend for a title with Dan Atrocity. And what's what's Phoenix hoping to get out of Schuyler now that she's on the team. I talked with head coach. Sandy Brunello after the Schuyler deal was done and she said that there was going to be a focus on being a lot more physical more playmaking ability and that is something that skyler definitely brings to the table. We're not very Closest Diane Army to will to win passion for the game. But she's white fire Panel the bone she create obviously is a real tough defender with Schuyler. Here are some of the decision. Making some of the ball handling will also fall into Schuyler slap and knowing that Schuyler signed a multi year deal and that Diana is looking toward the end of her career. I think it would ultimately be a good transition to start building the team out instead of the team solely focusing on one star player. And why does this trade makes sense from Schuyler perspective? I think it places Schuyler. In a great position to play alongside A player like dance Rossi to play alongside Brittany griner but also with the team culture. The mercury have kind of the best family planning and Family Facility is in the league. I think they're building a new practice facility state of the art but they also have a quote unquote family room. They have a lot of MOMS on the team. The coaches have kids and it really is a family atmosphere so I think looking at what? Schuyler went through it made sense for her to land with the mercury knowing. There's these all-stars knowing they prioritize family knowing that she won't have to hopefully worry about some of the things she dealt with in

Schuyler Skyler Diggins Diana Teresi Rossi Wnba Phoenix Smith Brittany Griner Basketball Britney Griner Diana Geraci Alexis Twitter Diana Tracy Dan Atrocity Dallas Wings Family Facility Wanna Bonner Diana Toronto

"It's the fourth quarter show for Kevin Durant ever since game. Three of the first round. You know, who I am? That's what he said. He's got twenty four. Kevin Durant and the warriors taking care of the rockets last night that was Adam Amine on the call on ESPN radio Waddle and Silvy on ESPN one thousand I got a whole lot of PJ PJ Carlesimo without him because I was listening on my way to Milwaukee airport fabulous job as always by Adam mpg. I was happy that there wasn't a lot of referee talk because that was the story leading game. I saw the first half. And I was pleasantly surprised I didn't like seeing Steph dislocate his finger, and I didn't like see didn't like seeing James harden poked in both is but was size. I mean, both eyes were red. But it looked like it looked like Draymond kind of landed into. It would have been his right. I but one of them I think his eyelid. They said was lacerated as well. Look like both eyes were sure has more information on it than I did. But those things were not scrape. But I was pleasantly surprised that there seemed to be list less bitching and moaning with the players and the referees. And this just kind of fizzled, which was great. Let's get Adam a means take on the situation. He was on the call for games one and two between the warriors and rockets joins us now on Waddle and Silvy. How're you doing today? Adam what's up, boys? How you doing? Hey, great job last night as always. What did what was your take on what happened with Harvey? He poked in both is just one. I and we're you surprised alternately that he was able to come back and play. I was surprised he did get rates as as we were told by the Houston PR staff over both is by dream on green in a scuffle five five and a half minutes. Not even stop was probably the wrong word for it. But just the battle for the rebound. It was inadvertent. He ended up bleeding from his lap dive his left eyelid that was the official injury. I guess for lack of a better term was a eyelid laceration, but he did get a finger. I guess in both eyes which you know. I mean, you understand what that's life. Probably one of the boss. Probably one of the bottom of the pile at some point. You know, what guys I will interject this very quickly. If you've ever had a scratch cornea, it's the most painful injuries you'll and maybe people are saying shut up Waddell. That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. I'm just telling you if you've ever had a scratched cornea. And I don't know if that's what had James harden had is a bring you to your knees. Kind of pain. And he was squinting and blinking and trying to get back. Right. The whole night. I was apprised he shot as well. As he did at a lot of any wasn't there wasn't as most efficient vitamins, but I was apprised shot as well as he did he said he could barely see during the game. So I was very surprised, but I credit for going out there and the other thing too like it was definitely inadvertent dream on dream on. He's he's going to say what he says he's gonna act the way you act, but he had genuine concern for hard after the whole incident. So I did appreciate that. And you got her two guys talking about it. There was a much ado about nothing. I feel like with all the hype that we had around game to other than the injuries. It was a lot of a lot of good competitive basketball rather than some of the outside noise going on yesterday. Steph curry dislocates his middle finger on his non shooting hand. Do you anticipate having any effect on his clay going forward? Not really unless unless we're looking at something on the defensive end. I don't see it being a huge factor. I I feel like it's going to be more pain and pain management or just comfort than anything else. Basically everything that we heard yesterday from the warriors PR staff and from staff and from there, we talked to Kevin Durant. A little bit ackward Z said set seem to be okay. And he doesn't expect anything to be an issue going forward in the series. What's your take on this warriors team this year? This version of it last year, they found themselves in trouble. If not for a Chris Paul injury, many believe I may be one of them that they could have lost that series and game six or game seven they look different. Now, obviously katie's playing lights out, but is is this amount that the rockets just aren't going to be able to climb this year. I mean outside looking in. I feel like the best guesses. Golden State is still the favorite to win this whole thing. And with that being said their their favorite to beat Houston to nothing lead is is something that's the first teams have gotten used to. And the only time they've ever blown to leaders when they had the lead in in the finals three years ago. So they're comfortable playing in this position. I don't know how much different they are really from last year to this year in terms of a playoff lineup. Obviously, you know, you Bronco gets back with with the cousins injury. You don't have to be David Wests and veterans over the last couple of years, but that core group that Hamptons five group has been there for most of this run. And you've got a lot of hardware and a lot of words and a lot of three pointers and a lot of assists and a lot of defensive ability with that group. I don't think that much different. But it does come down to matters of execution as it often does in any sport. And I just feel like right now in the, you know, eight games we've. Seen have they Gulnara by the time. Of course, when they do execute at the level of we expect them to their. They're kinda just old and say the goal say we've got used to seeing this three out of four championship front ADEMA. When you look at Durant. He's doing Durant like things, you know, we expect Steph to put up the numbers Klay chips in whenever equal dollars been interesting from my vantage point you spoke to him after game one. Have you been impressed with his role on this team little different now with cousins out of the lineup. Yeah. Think again, I don't know how much different he is. Because they use this death lineup starting lineup last year in the playoffs. This is been you know, the lineup Tiv curfews as best lineup that small ball lineup. That's become more and more in vogue. And this is the group that kind of made as such. But I think again, it comes down to matters of execution and went under the dollar is executing in the offense when he's shooting at a consistent cliffs, and you know, what type of defender. He is. So is he is the I think in the two games that we saw I think he did a good job of limiting whoever he was guarding. Whether it was hearted. Whether it was a couple of times switches, whether he had to go over to Iraq, Gordon or go down to the post a couple of times PJ Tucker. I feel like he's done a really good job defensively. He's actually tooted what he needs to do in his role and then much like a lot of these guys their beneficiaries of one another. That's what makes Golden State. So I think their best good. And so fun is when the ball movement is Chris like it was last night. I mean that that that we see a lot of hockey assists, with these guys like Kevin Durant at a couple dollar had a couple dream on had a couple of ball movement is Chris, and when you see that it is hard to feel like anybody's not executing at the highest level and dollars part of that he's a major part of that right now because of the cousins injury. So I don't know how much Kerr was expecting this to be on the four together as much as they have been the first two games. But they're all looking good. They're all executing dollars a major factor. That right now that I'm very intrigued by the Draymond green. Steve Kerr relationship. I love to get your take on it from my perspective. It looks like a relationship based more on production less on love. They can't stand each other. But they know that they're they're better together than they are apart. What do you think of this relationship? I'm a how much do you guys feel? This is an apt comparison I made this Parison last night to our producer. I think Draymond green is the presents key of the NBA. I think he is a pest. I think he's annoying. I think there are times where I hate the way he goes about his business as not as a player just as a presence. He talks a bunch he talks craft everybody. Complains winds, east are tastic yelling at scores people. You know, at times is very he's very unlikable presence right by I'll to any one of those guys. And this goes this. Kevin durant? Who remember he had a pretty good back and forth in a pretty good tip with dream on. Right. You know at the at the outset of the season. He's the guy that you will kill the have on your team because he really does fit the mold and maybe this is wrong because he's only played with this group. He's only been with this team. He's only been for the most part of his career with Steph and clay and Dala by in this mix. He's who wouldn't wanna have that guy in the middle of the floor. When you have that type of offense firepower. Our around him these to near triple doubles in this series. He had a triple double in game six in the clinching game against LA keys as important to his team. I'm not saying he's an MVP, you know, caliber player, but he's valuable to his team as anybody is on any team in the playoffs right now. So I while I I roll my eyes, and I'm sure a lot of people do dream on those anything other than playing basketball. But and I'm sure Steve Kerr a lot of guys around the lead may feel that way. But I would kill to have that guy in my team. And I think a lot of players and a lot of coaches, and I think the presents comp is perfect and eat before your time, Bill and beer like bulls. Here, you know, hated Bill lamb beer, but they don't win back to back championships in the late eighties. If they don't have any seems like a guys well that we're Kerr understand how important he is to what they're trying to do. But by the same token, he must be. An inferior infuriating guy at times guy that just drives you crazy inside your out about that. There's no doubt about that. I mean, he he Steve Kerr is as big as sharp of a big picture coaches I've ever seen, and I think he understands the long game in each scenario, you can break everything down, two seconds and minutes and quarters in have games. And then you can also look at an entire scope of season. And I think the Kerr is one of those rare coaches, and I would put Gregg Popovich and that category as well guys will have an understanding of the big picture. And that goes with everything he's got great perspective. Whether it comes to life, whether it comes to family, whether it comes to sports, and I think with this team he has an understanding a perspective of why in the big picture as annoying. He can't be in the micro. Why somebody like a dream on green? It's valuable in the macro scope of what an MBA franchises trying to do especially one successful as they as they are. And have our buddy Ataman our guest on ESPN one thousand Pat boils in for Sylvie Adam on the in the other series in the west. Either one of these teams Portland or Denver, you think can give the Golden State Warriors run. If in fact, the warriors continue to do what they've done in the first two games against the rockets. Yeah. I think I feel the same way about Portland Denver the way I do about Houston..

Explainer 151: Ireland and Brexit

"Maximum traded among Irish nationalists since the middle of the nineteenth century holds that England's crisis is islands opportunity. As Brexit looms. This saying may have to be updated along with Britain's long treasured reputation for sensible, governance and commonsense compromise Brexit substantially a tantrum by non London England as opposed to the United kingdoms of a constituent nations looks not so much like Ireland's opportunity as also islands crisis. Indeed, one of the few redeeming ironies of the entire Brexit. Vasko has been these spectacle of Britain's quest for self determination. At least as Brexit is preferred to see it being forward by Ireland the border between the Republic of island northern island, therefore, the border to be between the EU and the non EU is still the biggest obstacle. Brexit has to overcome. No matter. What happens what kind of a future relationship that we have that we never returned to board of the path trouble along the border between Northern Ireland Irish Republic this box off. So this vitally important bucks. Faxed the backstory backstop. Stop. Why do we need the Batstone the wider effect of Brexit upon the Republika violent depends to a large extent on what kind of Brexit occurs. And as we go to where roughly fifty days until the UK your to leave the EU, nobody news and the kind of Brexit that occurs on March twenty ninth four whenever is. Lonzo down to whether some agreement between the UK and the EU can be reached on precisely how the border between the UK and Ireland will operate after Brexit as things stand. The UK government is suggesting alternative arrangements to the so-called backstop, which is at least in keeping with the entire Brexit ethos of being long on airy reassurance and short on practical details. Shoot the Irish border issued prove intractable the likeliest consequence is in no deal Brexit, while this would likely be bad news for the UK, it might at least be argued that Britain would be lying in the rickety bed that it made for itself having voted for Brexit in the first place. Island. However did not vote for it. Indeed. Recent polls put Irish support for you membership at north of eighty five percent, but this will not prevent island collecting shrapnel from the UK's self-inflicted wound the IMF predicts a four percent reduction in Ireland's economic output, and the loss of perhaps fifty thousand jobs the economic and social research institute in Irish think tank estimates the average annual cost per household at fourteen hundred euros due to price rises around. Eighty percent of Ireland's exports go to or through the UK forty percent of Ireland's food imports and fifty five percent of its fuel imports travel in the opposite direction and fifty old days out. Nobody knows how this will work. Even a relatively soft Brexit in which the UK leaves the EU under the terms of the deal agreed by Cape Prime Minister Theresa may with the EU though, not as yet with the UK's. Parliament is bad news for Ireland Irish companies will still need to reorganize this supply chains and adjust their administration at the very least it will be an immense and expensive hassle. But it is possible not that this was ever what indifferent and ignorant Brexit as intended that Brexit might offer island some benefits at least thirty companies have relocated at least some of their operations from the UK to Ireland, including hilariously Somerset capital, the investment management firm. Another unintended consequence of Brexit has been and will continue to be an abrupt expansion of the Irish nation. Since the referendum in June two thousand sixteen tens of thousands of British citizens anxious to maintain their rights as EU citizens have brandished parental or grand parental birth certificates at the nearest Irish embassy. London's alone has issued more than one hundred seventy six thousand Irish passports since the vote I think one of the biggest challenges facing us city in my lifetime as Brexit. But I know you've just discussed this with Oscar y'all Rivera, but another big story in Brazil is the fact that Brazil's only openly gay mpg wheelies is giving up on his job as an MP because he said he's being receiving death threats. And he said he doesn't want to live his life. Like this with police protection all the time. And let's remember that he's from the same party as my friend could account the council woman who was killed in real less cheer, you know. And he said, I mean, it's it's it's common for politicians get death threats. But I think he was getting a bit too much. And this is quite sad. The remember. One of my first jobs, actually, hit a monocle twenty four thousand eleven I actually spoke with in over the phone, but that was kind of a different time. You know, we're talking there was a fairly kind of optimistic tone to say Brazil's become a bit more accepting. But then another reason we said he's going to live is the the violence against the LGBT community. And, you know, even though of course, you know, the current president edible scenario doesn't say, oh, let's kill the case. Of course, it doesn't say that. But it it is becoming more violent. So only for example last year as being a four hundred forty five deaths in just because of homophobia, which has been an increase of thirty percent compared to the last year. So it it certainly creating lots of problems among the community country. That's all nice numbers arresting. And actually, interestingly even when we were talked to Oscar looking at that as well. But he mentioned what he described as the Neo fascist regime of both narrow in Brazil. And I wanted to the papers reflects not only this. Change in the broader rhetoric. You know, there is this. Now, it's kind of mainstream to echo the coins of things on the stand to the president himself says but further is there a factor? I don't have to pay pick up on this phone. So you and I have talked about before new flag to me, which is the rise, of course of the the religious rights explicitly. He tends to make more pronouncements on these kinds of things. I mean, it's not a factor as well. As I picked up in the papers, or is that just part of this broader social backdrop. No, I mean, you're very much, right? The influence of evangelicals. And that's why they supported scenario because they said they saw an ally with that. So for example, had this stupid thing in last year's election where they said that the Workers Party defended the gay kits which they would send to all kids in schools teaching than how to be homosexual. I mean, that's clearly ludicrous ludicrous. But a lot of Brazilians actually believed in that. And there's being even Joan wheel is one of the things the right? Well, the the far-right try to suggest that he was a paedophile. The you know, it was a very very dirty game common metro of the right wing press and politics to to make exactly 'cause I should the only good thing. I mean genres is leaving. And of course, the the the man who be on his job is going to be the and from the same party. He might be well known here for international audience. He's the husband of US journalist Glenn Greenwald. "Fifteen just seventy mpg in town which is really unbelievable but that's just exuding sample of the efficiency of this engines today that and also we're not trying to get gas mileage and and i tried it you know it courthouse i'm driving but given net but i'll move on i had seven or eight miles roughly left to go so if it gets sixteen mouth miguel i'm that's about a half a gallon before it reach the zero miles to empty you with me year so i'm going to guess and so off field about last night i did not to look at the gas take one i paid i did not look at the received one i paid i folded kevin my my clean up and this morning when i came in i gave it to fabio in my team enough but so i presented to them this scenario so i'm going to guess how many gallons that is on that showed up and fabio has that slid up so here's a here's and he'll zero miles to empty it yet held it should help hill twenty gallons does a one point four miles to after the zero last empty but it had seven or eight mouse before zero milestone empty which means that not to get in sixteen miles ago money should hold it should have a half again last or of about fourteen i i heard to the lower side so if we take for ten so away from but twenty mpg it should have held nineteen point six mpg so fabio just well let's let's talk earnestly that in in the hopper right now okay but you got to take it right i'm got to take okay so let's go to mike and talk about ty balancing and jim and then folks you can call into a nod love that here you know what you're guesses to see what the my car hilton and gallons and i'll tell you what this does for me it lets me know that i can trust my fuel gates which is really important because it is my nature to run a down to the los your light and didn't run it a couple of days afterward and from my house to the studio it's only three point nine miles show it's not it's not a big deal it will be one.
