"And that's what else I want to tell you. If you think for a minute that Gary, I'm not talking about the legend because I have some of it to learn, and if it's fun to me, the fact that I'm a cyan and I'm upset that I didn't win. So the hill was. I'm a fan. That's what fans do. We don't remote. I've lost two or three women because they could stand to be around me and Alabama gave. 'cause I'll go to remote after damn window. You know? I mean, I'm a fan. So what? You know, it's just an opinion. I don't get caught up in that. But with Gary, make no mistake about it, my friend. I wouldn't go to jail for you or anybody else. I'm just talking trash and having fun. In real life, I'm going to help anybody. I can. I ain't out to see anybody get hurt and any kind of way. Sports in the next gate from the bullcrap world we live and do, and I have fun with it. That's it. I know the difference. A lot of people don't, but gay, I know the difference. I know the difference, brother. Well, let me say this in conclusion. You know, we go back a long way and you stood up for me and I've stood up for you and I considered this. I consider this issue closed. It's been a long week for all of us, but I am most hopeful and optimistic that whatever is going on off of this show for you can be cleared up and you can get back to being who you've been as long as I've known you. Well, lies a bit sometimes, Paul. That's the way it is, bro, but I love you. I love the show. I love all the colors. But I will say this, you know, I try to hit the transfer of portal, but all out there was Matt Murphy. And we'll tell you what. Whether we ever spoke again, I would help you avoid that. Thank God. Thank God. Because I couldn't handle that, dude. I didn't actually show you. You'd be well. Can you take care of yourself? Okay. Thank you so much. Daryl is up next. Hey, Daryl. Good lord. Is this a doctor field show? Is this the Paul bonbon show? I don't know. Maybe we should replace Dr. Phil. Beat down in the fourth quarter. You know what I'm saying? I thought here we go here, come to excuse me. Why does he even worry? I actually listened to that, okay? I'm kind of buddy, okay? This is about Joe for red bay. That was absolutely hilarious. So why would he even be why would he even kill with him guys? They're probably tired of the SEC kicking their ass in football. Who's their football team after a pulp, balls to college? Who lives in Massachusetts? I don't even know if are you mad? They don't they don't have a college football team up in Boston. They have the Patriots. Yeah. And they're just probably jealous. I mean, hey, you know, we all know that greatness lives in the south. So whatever, but good to hear. I mean, when we go home, I knew he wouldn't be going to be back. They my straightaway, but they always come crawling back. I've done them. I stay up on it. I know how it works. But I was saying this about legends. I'm about to give a new nickname of people complaining about people calling them stupid. You know, do you think he was Einstein? And limestone, all it crying, he was doing. But hey, you know, take a lock of man. I mean, it was our turn to win. Finally, you won the last 7. And, you know, we went up there and got the job done. I mean, I will say this. I saw the press conference with Nick Saban and those two players. And I mean, much respect for saving. I thought the way he handled it, how he had two players heard. You know, and what he said about them guys. I mean, that just was a class act, I thought. He did try to cover up him and Caribbean having an issue. And all that kind of fun stuff, but good legend is back. I knew he wouldn't be gone long. I mean, welcome back, Gary. Welcome back, but don't come here with a bunch of news is you know you got beat down in the four quarter 29 football be back in 8 months and you'll be all good again, but until then, the king resides in assets that don't forget that the king. Because Kirby ain't going nowhere, baby. I mean, you're in the back seat now. We're driving the bus. You know what I mean? Kirby ain't going nowhere. He will continue to accrue your coach and we're going to win go stop till we send Nick into retirement. Please hold..

"Becoming friends. And we ended up doing a documentary on him a couple years ago, which allowed us to spend two days with him. I've had the occasion to be with him a couple of other times. In a social setting and then we saw him again a few weeks ago. Forget aside from that, the idea that for those who don't know much about Tim Cook, he did go to auburn, he comes from Robert stale Alabama. His father was, I believe, he worked on the dock, the mobile docks, he got his MBA from duke. He ended up trying to I think he was working for IBM when they found him at Apple. And he ended up becoming the number two guy to Steve Jobs who at the time was the most successful CEO in the world for those who don't know his story. He invented like where do we begin here? How about restless? Every Apple product from the PowerBook to the iPod, the iPhone, the iPad, just and what Tim Cook has done is so extraordinary because he took over and most people don't succeed when you take over the greatest of all time. He's not only succeeded, but he's made Apple the most valuable company in the world. One comment, then I have 5 children, two went to Alabama, two went to auburn, one went to winthrop. I've been to 5 graduations. He spoke at one of my daughter's graduation at auburn. He was the most impressive speaker I've ever heard of the 5 I have and the theme that I got out of this speech that day was don't be afraid to fail. Right. And he had these kids involved at the coliseum down at auburn that day. Tim, I will tell you, I have learned some of the things that I've learned from him. I've used in various conversations or lectures with students or anyone for that matter. And I just, he's truly remarkable. And I just don't say that about many people. I mean, I'm impressed with a lot of people, but he's one of the most is the most engaging person I've ever met. He said when in that speech, when he asked, I think it was at HP, you may be right. IBM whichever. One of the last apple was on his butt. And people he had a great career going where he was, he said, and people said are you crazy? This guy's a fanatic, meeting Steve Jobs. No one realizes what it was going to turn into and obviously the rest is history. Well, I'm so glad you asked me about him because he I listened to him speak to the auburn team one time when we were down there with him. And. Sometimes it's not easy for a layperson to connect. And every one of those guys, their jaws were dropping. I can believe it. Why is any on the board? Well, I don't know specifically, but I do know enough about auburn to understand the politics of that board. And I'm pretty sure that has a lot to do with it. And he's not the first powerful CEO that has been snubbed by the auburn board. And he probably won't be the last, but he will be the most important. Unbelievable. You remember the Gibson steakhouse bet. I do. You and legend, that was me. So I think he's on hold. Do you want me to, what would you like to communicate? Legend's great. We won. You took care of your part. It was all good. Well, Tim, thank you so much. It's great to hear from you. Legend is next. Hello. I'd just like to apologize to you and your audience for how I act to tell today. I'm going through some things in my personal life and I think I took it out on you. I shouldn't have said the things I've said to you. And it was wrong. You know, I made a note to apologize. But I would like to make a couple things clear. If I could and I promised I'll do it in a manner that's not a sense that legend before you go on, let me say, first of all, thank you very much. I appreciate what you said. I'm more concerned about whatever you're going through. And I certainly I know everyone wishes you the absolute best in that. But you know this show, we don't take things too personally. I don't at least. And we have had a lot of fun over the years. And my only the only thing I'll say further on that is I hope we continue to do that. Well, I've always respected you, Paul. But manda man, what happened to other day was about them two roofs in a Turner and coots and Boston. You know what? It's cool to make fun. Hey, I run off at the mouth, Shannon red doll, all them dudes, have a right to pass me. I may end I may have been like Hogan and savage for 20 years. They got that right. Well, I heard these rooms bass me, and then you referred to me as one of them guys. I mean, it just came out it hurt me, man. Because I believed in you to come on your show and share my life story. I did that with nobody dude. And then for them roofs to pass me and you refer to me as one of them guys it hurt me to do with George. Legend, let me say this. I will give you a we give you a lot of credit because you have said things on this show that I know we're painful. But it also I think by you talking about your past, I think it helped all of us understand what redemption and rehabilitation is all about. So I do remember that. I'm not acting like I didn't say that. I say pretty much everything I'm accused of saying. But I want you to know that it was no excuse for it, except I just said it. And I am sorry about that. My goal is not to hurt people that call in this program. I hate to say it. I hate to say it, but your opinion does matter. You know, I mean, it matters. It just hurt me, man. Well, I got nothing to do with Georgia and then to do it with Jim. James A. friend of mine, because I don't like having enemies, Paul..

"And little known fact, I say little known everybody in Alabama knows it, but Alabama didn't win a national championship in 1992. And then the school ran stallings off. And instead of allowing him to do his job, there was interference. And interference is the reason Alabama went into the dark side. Because there were too many people trying to run the football program in the athletic department, which led to Mike dubose, who got fired, which led to Dennis francini, who hated it so much. He bailed after two years, which led to Mike price who never got to the first game because he got fired, which led to Mike Schuyler, who was an abject disaster. Which led to Nick Saban and what Nick Saban said before he took the job, he told mal Moore, listen, Mel, I want to report to you, I don't want to deal with any of these other people. He used stronger language. And when Nick Saban went around to booster clubs, the red elephant clubs or whatever, he used the strongest possible language. In telling these people and by the way, Robert, these weren't just. Average folks. These were the creme de la creme, the people that had skyboxes and gave money to the university. He told them to stay the blank out of his way. He was going to do it his way. And for the first time, since coach Bryant, there was one man one voice at the university, and that's why they are where they are today. Our new poll that you would be right on spot with it. That's why I wanted to ask you all these times are trying to get through to you. But I think the Alabama people need to wake up because just like Pete kill out there before Pete Carroll and after peak kill, U.S., the minor USA Trojans are terrible. I mean, just ridiculous. And I just don't understand it without athletes around that around that town. That state. Robert, one of the things he didn't just lecture the boosters, he lectured the media. I was not at these meetings, but he had meetings with a collection of Alabama writers and broadcasters, and he basically told them the same thing that if they wanted anything to do with the university of Alabama football program that they were going to abide by his rules, and he was not going to abide by them. He intimidated all of them. He got great coverage. And by the way, he deserved great coverage, but maybe he did it on the first day, but it was an extraordinary period. Books have been written, books will continue to be written. And he just had to do it his way. He got away with it, because he was the best. Well, thank you so much, Paul. I knew you'd let you know that I just can't wait to 3 o'clock every day over here in Jordan. So you show because about a few years back, I also left leg and instead of going to every one of the home and away games for Georgia, now I just have to watch it on TV and everything. But I'm doing good. The lord is blessed me. I get to see. I get to see my full grandkids by. I appreciate your show. And I can not tell on behalf of everyone who works here. I can't thank you enough for what you said about us. We really appreciate that. And you be well. Thanks so much. We'll take a short break..

Dr. William Lile: 'A Patient Is a Person, No Matter How Small'

"I'm talking to doctor William Lyle. He's the head of pro life, Doc dot org. You are just sharing the details of, I mean, it's fascinating to learn about this for me to learn about this. So this idea that progesterone does two things. You said it's helping feed the baby and it's helping prevent contractions so that the baby doesn't leave the mother's womb too early. So you said that if somebody takes this abortion pill, are you four 86? After that, at some point, they take another pill to induce contractions so that the baby which has ostensibly been killed can now be expelled. Is the baby always dead by the point of taking the second pill? No, because we know that if people just take that medication, the side attack, it will cause contractions. And they can abort without the baby actually being dead. And the baby is very tiny, but the baby is still creating the image of God and had a heartbeat. When they take that second medication, and it causes the contractions, we really can not reverse that effect. So everything that's good about the pregnancy as far as supporting it is because of progesterone. When a medication is taken that lowers the level of progesterone, that's all the bad stuff happens. But the other reason that this is not healthcare is that the number one pregnancy related killer of pregnant women in the first trimester of pregnancy is still a ruptured ectopic or tubal pregnancy. How do you know when a woman is pregnant if the pregnancy is in the uterus or if it's maybe in the tube? The only way is with an ultrasound. When a federal judge says, you know what? Going to the abortion clinic is an undue burden. Women are being denied an ultrasound. They don't know where the pregnancy is. One in a hundred pregnancies are going to be an ectopic a tubal pregnancy. So if a woman takes the abortion pill and she gets it mail order and she never had an ultrasound, she is told, she's going to have bleeding, cramping, and pain. And that's going to be a boarding the baby. As opposed to if it happens to me that one in a hundred words and ectopic or tubal pregnancy, those symptoms are so different, they are bleeding cramping and pain. How is a woman supposed to know the difference between the bleeding cramping and pain of a tubal pregnancy or the bleeding cramping and pain of the abortion pill? She can't. So this is not about healthcare. This is about killing the baby in the womb. The baby that we treat as patients and a patient is a person no matter how

The Truth About the Abortion Pill With Dr. William Lile

"Folks, I'm talking to doctor Lyle. You remember I wrote a veggie tale episode lyla kindly Viking. I only wrote half of it. But doctor Lyle spells his name differently. It's L ile. He is the head of pro life Doc dot org and we're having a really important conversation. You were just saying doctor Lyle, you were just saying that if somebody makes a bad decision, we have medical options to help them. And you're saying that there are women who, in a moment of panic, they have easy access to an abortive patient, I guess. Is that what it's called? Sure. I mean, and first we have to define things. Words matter. Let's talk about the morning after pill which is indicated for 72 hours after somebody has had intercourse, which is wrong, but let's talk about the abortion pill, which is indicated for up to 70 days after the first day of the night. See, I didn't know this. It's one of the reasons I wanted you on because a lot of this stuff gets so what is the first one called the morning after pill? Morning after pill. Okay. So somebody has sex. I'm gonna go whoops, maybe I got pregnant, let's take care of it and they take a pill. But the other pill and what does this other pill called? It's called a mip of stone, also known as RU four 86. Okay. How do you remember that number? Did you ever work in a restaurant? Yeah. All right. So when the Shep says, hey, 86 the meatloaf. What does that mean? It means kill the meatball kill it, meatloaf. Are you forbidding? Are you four 86? They didn't plan that, did they? They didn't. But that's planning. Are you four 86? So you have been pro killing. Okay, so the RU four 86 pill. You said it's up to 70 days after conception. After the first day of the last menstrual period. So that would be ten weeks gestation. Most of the ultrasounds for our new OB patients where we can see the baby moving, heartbeat, listen to the heartbeat. Are usually between 6 and 8, 8 weeks along. This pill has 98% chance of killing a baby up to ten weeks

Dr. William Lile Uses Modern Obstetrics to Support the Personhood of Pre-Born Babies

"Doctor Lyle, your organization and meeting you. I mean, it really affected me because I just thought you're in this world. You're in these trenches. So you take over this practice, you decide to end abortions in that area. I mean, has anyone ever thought of that before to go into an area and take over a place that does something like this? I've never heard of this as it seems like a brilliant strategy. Yeah, I mean, money, money has power money talks. I mean, there have been abortion clinics, which have actually been purchased by pregnancy resource centers there. You know, it's an active movement where you can just go in and take control. And that's what we do as far as education, as far as how we treat the pre born as patients. I mean, a lot of people don't realize that the mom even though she's an amazing life support system. Babies not part of her body. It's not her body. One of the things that we do, which is absolutely amazing is we can actually do blood transfusions directly to the baby. And we've done this at our hospital as early as 18 weeks gestation. It's like, well, why would you need to give a baby a blood transfusion? Because the mom sees the baby as a different person. And mom will actually send antibodies across the placenta attack the baby's blood because it's a different blood type and the baby's blood count will start to drop. And it can drop to the point where the baby will die on the inside unless we give the baby a blood transfusion. It's like, well, where do you get special baby blood? It's not special baby blood. That's just donating. Yeah. It's just donated at the Red Cross or one blood and we can take an ultrasound guy to go through the skin of the mom's belly through the wall of the uterus directly to the umbilical cord and just give the baby a lifesaving blood transfusion at 18 some weeks, you said? 18 weeks. When we've done that here at my hospital, but it's not just blood transfusions. We are now doing heart surgery at centers around the country at 22 weeks gestation. All right, this is where I mean, really, this is why I wanted you want to hear. This is unbelievable. That science has gotten to a level medical science where you can do heart surgery on a 22 year old 22 week old child in its mother's

Dallas Cowboys Starting Tackle La'El Collins Suspended 5 Games

"Lyle collins suspension. Which for those of you. That have not heard yet. Which i'm sure you have but Friday afternoon it was announced that he was getting a five game suspension for violation of the substance abuse policy There's nothing on the books in the nfl drug policy that says a substance abuse issue is a five game penalty. There is a for the second time you're punished for methamphetamines. Or amphetamines and adderall. And diuretics and things like that That is a five game suspension. So i don't know if there's some somehow taking that as precedents and applying it lyle's case and somehow It's still murky as to what exactly. He was in the drug program for There was a report on sl from jason lockenfora that he's been tested ten times a month for the last eighteen months which that's not totally unusual. I know there have been players before that have been tested with that. Frequency randy gregory had talked about that When he came back so it's it's not totally unheard of for that to happen. But i don't know why lyle would. It have been in the program but missing a test missing. These tests are refusing member. Whatever the story is because apparently it was not a failed test. Missing these tests would result in this suspension. Only if he had already been on the program. So something's off here where we're missing a lot of details here and hopefully we can get some more clarity about it But as it stands now we don't know exactly what he's in the program for. There's lyles disputing the word. Representation is disputing the refusal to take the tests and and they're in this appeal process. They've already appealed apparently and it was rejected but they feel like the appeal process has not been exhausted. And so that's part of where this tension is coming from. Mike mccarthy didn't have any other comments on it he just said they were not surprised suspension. So this is something. That's been brewing. It's been something that's been out there. And that the cowboys have been aware of

"Espn app download now for back. Sec media days live from hoover alabama. Love saying that. This is how it all began about an hour ago. Brent ironman from the houston chronicle raking the story the texas oklahoma. Reach out to the sec. Just drove by lincoln. Riley and dave keita's. Hey hey can we get on to to let us on the buzz i. It's interesting lara. Because this is now the story of the week and in fairness to everyone who puts us on. This is not really what you want in the middle of already. The busiest week but it the early first our read. The story is almost like they're they're desperate that we really want them. And i'm not sh- forget. I'm not sure that's clearly not this is i mean these things. Just don't happen this. No that's interesting so you think the first hour read is there's desperation on their end. Because raspy organ jimbo helped shape that everything starts the first couple of in the twitter verse. Ross york-based we got out of there. Yeah jimbo. Like who wouldn't want to be. And i think until this thing settles down a little bit and it made by the end of the day because i think there's going to be some pretty hard reporting overnight that indicates there is a lot of veracity right now but there's some flippancy to right now right. Let let. Let's let's say that this is true right. Let's let's believe in the reporting that's being done by a credible reporter and we live in some world where it is being considered by the sec. Potentially because if you have powerhouse programs a program in oklahoma that has been in the college football playoff and then a texas that yes. They've been down but it's the name recognition like texas and there. I'm just playing devil's advocate here. There knocking on your door saying hey we want to bring. All of our revenue are fans to bring all of that to the sec. You're probably going to listen right even if it but then if you're texas amy like we don't want that other scotland. Tell us at this conference. And here's why some people say well. It used to be the texas who wouldn't want to get in the sec. They were literally but are too good for their that. Things have changed absolutely and now you would say well. Why does he. Sec think about this. I if the sec for whatever it's worth wouldn't want them before you say that if you say we don't want you what happens. They're going somewhere else. Good point because either way if assuming this is factual they're getting out of the big twelve. You can say farewell to that because the big twelve without those schools. The big ten thirty. What are the pros from the standpoint as a conference not just individual team point. What are the pros for texas. And oklahoma. i missed answering questions on saturday morning. I think you're quite good at that. The pros are the most important pro is this. They are brand heavy. Every game with texas every game with oklahoma is a must see television event and in the world that we live in laura. I know you don't follow this very closely. Working at the worldwide leader in bristol. Connecticut is a gold mine for a company like the one that employs the two of us. There is an sec. Deal coming to run very excited about the partnership with disney. No doubt and that's a big part of this and it just creates this supernova conference. It's already the supreme conference. But i mean i'm still somewhat breathless and trying to describe the impact of of of the university of texas and oklahoma. I it's it's it's massive and we're we're talking about football but it goes across the board right but you know just think about the games i- casual alabama texas game in october or an oklahoma georgia game or or any of these games. It is it kind of makes you salivate from just fan perspective to think about but you also wonder i mean there's so many ripple effects here it's like are you expanding the schedule to where now these players are playing an even more games which has already been an issue in the conversations around the proposals for the college football playoff at least from the standpoint of some of these teams like dabo sweeney and clemson who say we don't want that we don't wanna play in more games jimbo fisher says he's all for of course they're the team that's on the cost. The playoff missing out this past year. But if you're greg sankey here do you say yeah come on over or do you say no. I've got to maintain the sanctity of what we are Exactly laura adds more value and by the way would it also means that everyone else will be scrambling i was you. Were in junior high ten years ago when the last explosion happened. It was one of the most exciting stories with every team. Whether you're west virginia whether you're across the country you're saying where where are we going and that doesn't happen very often. The the new packbell of commissioner just sent out a tweet. Obviously the guy has a sense of humor. And i love those he says just when i thought my first job could not get any more interesting. George here you go. It's worth remembering the pac twelve started this believe in two thousand and ten when they almost grabbed texas and oklahoma state and that really brought on what we now have in the sec with am in missouri because it it set off a chain of events which which is the only person i feel. Sorry for is a person who has to come up with a new schedule for the. Sec is still recovering from from the lab from adding and but but anyway it is your car keys and you probably think this is great news. If you're a couple of other coaches you're going okay. Now i gotta play alabama florida georgia texas and oklahoma. You think this is happening the way you're talking about it and you think is happening. We'll ask the head coach of this of the involved the most in a minute. Thanks so much. Thank you.

"I'm sure online ordering a dream. Second drugs anybody that to remember this but it's not called that either butter. I remember when the ice. We'll get back to the oklahoma texas story in a minute. But i just remember being a kid running when the when the ice cream. Okay like yeah come on. This is going to go into my journalistic hall of fame Award when i've been talking about the biggest story put potentially in modern ice cream trucks. But the point laura that i don't even remember what the question well you were saying. That bryce young and the supposed- nearing one million dollars. Yeah you've you've sat here watching nick sabin. You've interviewed him on thousand times. I've have never heard nick. Sabin nut give a coherent answer and he did not get one. Today he gave a. I'm i'm not saying anymore. So i've i've got my standard. I may be wrong next year. So i'm just gonna keep answering it that way. Yeah that's what he that's what he ended up reverting to an in the funny thing is about all this is i respect that in a way but it's also like what's going to be wrong. We don't know what wrong is going to be. He's worried about people having receipts a year from now in saying well you said this about his money and that money and and either way. I don't know if this amount is true. I don't know it seems a little high to me totally honest. This might be too close or any of the numbers that are reported by the media about salaries ever extra usually overblown from what i can tell. Or or under-blown depending on the particular scenario so exactly there cannot be how true that is or isn't true. The reality is it does help recruiting you know and that's a big piece in all of this. I'm not saying that nick. Saban is is putting this out there to help recruiting. Because i don't believe that he is but it's just gonna be a piece of what the conversation will be leading up to the season during the season and you do wonder about these locker rooms. I'm not one to sit here and try to invent locker room drama and try to say that that's going to be a thing but you've got to think that there are some of these players that look over to their right and left and say wait a second. He's making that. And and i'm over here grinding. And i don't have anything you know because that happened in any other industry. Oh man. I can't relate but it just seems to me that first of all saving alluded to some people today that he was talking to this convention yesterday of high school coaches in san antonio and he didn't think the media was here. I think he knew exactly what he was doing. I think he measured the reaction on the way back. I said let's just leave it right there on a good story. That's an interesting theory because that story. I mean the second that it happened of course lane kiffin asked about it and i actually ran into lane kiffin. After he was on the podium he goes. I had no idea that the number could even been that high. It wasn't even in an you. Could you could see genuine shock. Coach kiffin 's face when when it was asked of him so yeah that one was plopped right in there where the other anything he would have said. First of all. Nick sabin are about the most recruiting. And he's already sent a memo in the state of texas. Yeah if you're a quarterback this you don't go to orange hear jimbo say that the state of texas has so many resources from the standpoint of an i l. and things that players can do for themselves and then he also said that people have been doing those he goes people have been doing name imaging likeness for all this time but now it's just legal. Did you hear that you were getting miked up. So the worst the worst place to cover this here. I know you had no idea what's going on. I'd rather watch it from home one of these times. Maybe next year i will. I'll probably be. I'd probably be forced to watch. You'll be obvious fired from any of this city mississippi. I can't wait please. Welcome me with open arms. We will take a break I feel like i'm stealing for another segment but We'll we'll talk a few more minutes about some things because we haven't talked a long time. It's not that we're sharing this with the audience. I just want to catch up. Yeah the this'll be in the commercial break. If we come back you know. We're still talking and be fine..

"Well as paul finebaum show. But it's peter burns hosting today. Follow me on twitter at peter burns. Esp in were had a great first hour. Trevor albert's brand new director of athletics of over nebraska join me and was talking about Some of the different things he's got going and of course it's all about scheduling right. I forgot to ask him in. Twenty twenty seven. He's got an opening. Texas has an opening. I want a pair those two together. That's one of those college football matchups nebraska texas and the big twelve days. I'd like to see a one of these matchups that i'd like to see for a bevy. Different reasons is florida and ucf. Is it going to happen. Bianchi joining me for from the orlando sentinel. Mike is this. is it finally done. Is this deal on the. What does the half yard line as people like to call it. Now it's at the half your. It's at the half inch yard line is works at that. The half short don. Yeah that should be announced probably within the next few days. It's going to be a three-game series. I two games at the swamp one game at the bounce house in orlando and the first game. They're all spread out. Twenty twenty four is the first game the second games in twenty thirty and then the third game is in twenty thirty three i. I'll probably won't be alive to see the last two. But at least i'll get to see i. It's interesting on ninety six nine. The game we also host. Y'all had a tweet that was asking at you. Know golden knights fans. I mean how do they feel about it. If it is a two for one deal going to gains going to the swamp twice once in the bounce house how do you feel. Eighty percent of the fans liked the deal. So my question is what change from now. This deal getting done to you. Know your prior. Well i think the fans i. The fans have always wanted this game. They've always wanted to play florida. Ucf of course not and they sec not in a power five leagues. They've always sort of had the little brother syndrome. They want to play these big time. Opponents like florida and florida's the flagship university in the state of florida. So they've always wanted them play them. But when danny white arrived at ucf and ucf got really good when scott. Frost was the head coach and then josh hypol- and they had the back. The back unbeaten seasons. Danny white's reasoning was listen on par with some of these mid level power. Five what why should we have to play two for one like texas tech when our programs better than texas tax so he wanted to be elevated the hey if florida's gonna play colorado one for one. Why wouldn't they play. Ucf one for one. He's sort of backed himself into a corner there And there was the financial situation. He didn't wanna give up an extra home game because let's face it. Ucf makes most of their money from playing home games. They make three to five million dollars per home game. He didn't want to give up an extra home. Game to play florida on two for one base. You doesn't get the fifty million dollars. Sec network check like florida did so he he thought it was inequitable scheduling with that being said how much you think. That was a push from gust. Because i know. Gus is chomping at the bit. I talked to him after i got in the ucf job. And i was like you wanna play. You wanna play florida. yep you. I mean he. He's all in on this. I mean how much of that push in. Fill that momentum that he has there in orlando. Yeah and i. There will probably be you know if if if like an alabama or auburn or a michigan or house state or florida up big time opponents like that if they wanted to for one with ucf. I'm sure terry mohajer the new ad and malls on the new football coach. I'm sure they would be all and for that. But but i still don't think you're gonna see. Ucf playing the mid level power. Fives on a two for one basis. I still think like the georgia tech and the the north carolina's in schools like that. I i still think. Ucf is going to play those on one for one basis. But yes i think. Gus malzahn and terry mosher. The new ad have certainly changed. Ucs philosophy about playing big time. Marquee opponents on a two for one basis mike of the orlando sentinel ninety. Six nine the game in orlando joining burns here on the paul finebaum show mike forgotten. It's such an interesting kind of roller coaster ride. He had at auburn. It was fun as hell to watch. We'll put that. I'm not necessarily an almond fan but just watching it. It was must see television each and every week. What's his team going to look like that. He inherits from josh hypo. Who of course now is going to be over there and rocky top well offensively. It should be outstanding j. Every josh hypo with an outstanding offense of coach as well dilling gabreel one of the top quarterbacks in the country coming back i think pro. Football focus had him rated as the fourth-ranked quarterback in the country among all one hundred and thirty. Fps quarterback Ucf is loaded at receiver. They have all sorts of speed now. The deep i think. That's where gus malzahn gonna make the real defense even though he's an offensive guru by trade. Uc defense is going to be a lot better under. Gus malzahn Than it was under josh josh hypol- sort of let the defense go But man. I think gus malzahn is going to have a really good. I here at ucf. And i'll tell you what and he's even said this if we get to the twelve team playoff and it looks like that's going to happen. Ucf had every opportunity to to make the playoff more times than not because we're they're located The the advantages the resources they have the recruiting and the coach that they have. I think gus malzahn set up to make the playoffs. More at ucf. If it's a twelve team playoff then he made it. He would have been at auburn. An interesting With that being said is still a couple years removed or you know away from that possibly having is that one hundred percent but it probably pretty good opportunity of that is going to go down with that being said right here. Twenty twenty one. The best team in the state of florida is Oh i still think that. The gators even though cal. Trask is is well. I'm at miami. Would have an argument to but i still think it's the gators i. Dan mullen is a fabulous coach. I think he's a fabulous offensive coordinator. He's got a quarterback now even though cal. Trask broke all sorts of records last year. Emory jones quarterback. That really fits what dan mullen wants to do. More than kyle. Traff does on the offensive side and emory jones. Everybody talked about how patient cal. Trask was waiting his turn emory jones. He could have transferred many times lot of schools. One in the transfer. He waited his turn behind. Kyle traff and i. I think he's gonna have a great year. I think the gators The gary's are still the best team in the state but but ucf in miami right there knocking on the door. In my opinion it's interesting florida's still not even anywhere close in that conversation so that norville is gonna have to change a pretty quickly out there. In tallahassee mike bianchi orlando sentinel joining. Peterborough here on the paul finebaum. Show mike when you look at being in orlando kinda like how. Almost you know nashville. To a certain extent a big hub where colleges at right we've got vanderbilt their. Ucf is in orlando. How much being in a big city like that you think will help schools for nfl purposes as opposed to being the only game in town in fayetteville or starkville or.

"Coming right back to listening to the paul finebaum show podcast and we're back in. Bob is up next in fort worth Good afternoon bob noon. Paul hey i was listening you listen to your interview by the way was a pretty good interview with the commissioner last friday and he said something to kind of hurt my interest in. Y'all kinda skipped right by it. We always talking about what you could make players. Take the vaccine and not in which i agree you can't you can't do that. But then he then he said something that kind of made me sit up and take notice. He said he's done told that the athletic directors and coaches is their job to make sure these kids are that they have a healthy football team. Come game day now. I i don't know well let me let me pick that up for bob. He was essentially saying. We're not going to reschedule. Games we're not going to hold the weekend in december as a makeup we can. We're not going to postpone you better. Be if you're if you're not healthy you're forfeiting the game. I thought that was the message from the commissioner. What i want to get your take on it. Because he didn't come out and say well you know i i. I don't ever want to interpret someone else. But i feel like i know him pretty. Well i'll give you my best. Guess i mean he was essentially saying without saying you. Better get your best chance of playing with the healthy team. This year is to fully vaccinated attract not in these kids. Whether there were there at alabama and and i don't have no with steph or wherever they're they appear looking at what happened to north carolina. Yeah i almost felt like the commissioner Was going to use that. I mean he mentioned he said the beginning of the of the game. When so i you have to be careful in in in all positions but you know. He's been very vocal about the vaccine. In fact i think he even did a public service announcement at the golf tournament in birmingham this summer. mike is up next in kentucky. How are you. I don't know paul. I really don't you shows getting hard to watch and i'm very sad about this. That kid you had harry lyles. He's a perfect example of brainwashed. Socialist mindset 'cause if what he says holds water then i'm entitled to a percentage of what the united states of america makes every year. You know this country's going to hell. Well i i understand your displeasure He he's a guest within the pinion and the reason we had him on his he's talking to young players and that i thought i was pretty clear i wasn't i wasn't saying Harry we agree or disagree with you. We just wanted to know what what you're hearing. And he told us what he's hearing. Thanks for the call. And i don't think was going to work. Getting a percentage of the of america but Give it a shot anyway. Ernest is in north carolina. Hello ernest doing paul. Paul love your show. Thank you very much for listening to you. Call takes osama most back. But i wanted to speak to the issue of the. Anc states coach and a comment that he made to the report. I won't even say that. He was in articulate and what he say We become very comfortable in this country. Asking people personal medical information which is what that was no report. I has a right to ask me. Have i taken a shah any more than i have a right to shoe. Have you eaten your broccoli I just think that's inappropriate. Well ernest thank you for the call and i would say in most cases i would agree with you. i think in this particular case The team that was playing better than anyone else in the college world series gets knocked out because of covid so some questions need to be asked so i agree this but this is not a private citizen here. this is a coach team is getting ready to board a plane to go home and the reporters questions was. I think you know. Did you ask your team to get vaccinated No i didn't ask that. What about you. I'm going to answer the question so this is not just knocking on. Somebody's door and offering them publishers. Clearinghouse lottery asking a personal question. Have you ever whatever anyway. We're hitting bright more of your reaction to that more of your phone calls right after this..

"And i know you know you do a lot of really amazing things for espn but you also have a relationship with a lot of young players which i think is critical To be able to report and analyze how they are thinking. Can you give us a man. No there's no such thing as a composite but of the with whom you speak on a reasonably regular basis. How would you describe their angst and anxiety about where we are as. We're about to hit the second. Half of twenty twenty one. You know it's pretty interesting paul. A lot of them. I would say had a lot of cautious optimism. They were happy about the ruling. A lot of them said the same thing right like we usually have just about everything that this said that you know we should be given so that was not necessarily new for them. It was a bit of a symbolic victory. And what this is in terms of a next step in and you know them still wanting to get compensation From the revenue that the civilized making off of them. And you know. I think a lot of them would also tell you that they do appreciate the stuff that they're getting. I've spoken the guys at major like top five programs and they know that they've got it well and they're giving all this great stuff and things of that nature but they still understand at the end of the day like they are a product they are. They are the cash cow like and there's a lot of money that's being had pockets of coaches are going up obviously like those salaries are just going to continue to rise right. Education is a fixed cost You know there's there's benefits after you're playing things of that nature and they realize that it's good. They're happy they enjoy playing right. That's why all these guys went back out there on the field like the paxil players like that was a big old thing. Last year and ultimately a lot of people tried to paint them as guys didn't wanna play football. And we're just trying to cause a ruckus and i've talked to a couple of guys this past week and they're like hey like this is great when that was happening. Yeah we wanted to get back out there on the football field. Because ultimately it's not necessarily their problem to fix but just some of the conversations. I've had with some of these guys in the ways that they're trying to work in the people that are in contact with and you know bouncing off ideas and things like that. 'cause none of us know where this is going to look like five ten twenty years from now I would say a lot of the guys were optimistic. They realize this is going to be a continued long fight but they feel good. They're happy with the direction that this is going. Harry lyles junior from. Espn always great to talk to harry. Stay in touch Hope you have a great summer. We will see very very soon as we head to the break so much more to do. We'll talk more about nfl and a few minutes. The nc state conversation continues to rage on the nfl. Bills are all coming due in two days and it looked like the ncaa gobble able to join the rest of the free world in agreeing to it. And we're.

"It is june twenty eighth if you follow college football you know what july first means and i l. but we really don't know any more than that harry allows junior always nice enough to join us in harry when we when we turn the calendar here in two days. Does anyone have a clue what college football and college. Athletics is going to look good afternoon. Paul yeah you know. It's pretty interesting. This thing is pretty fluid and honestly it's been kind of weird right like this is usually our dead period when nothing's going on you're taking vacations. We're talking about anything but college football and we have all these things going on. Obviously an i l. Being one of them. And i think this is gonna be kind of a fluid situation. I think this is going to be something that everybody's like really figuring out on the fly but you know. I think that like a lot of people rightfully so are very happy to see that players are going to be able to make money off of their name. Image and likeness. But i do think that for me. It's not necessarily as comforting because while it is a good thing. I do think that there's something to be considered here where players are going to be dealing with. Contracts are going to be dealing with money. They're going to be dealing with these things that they should have But i feel like there's a lot of room here for players to be taken advantage of that. I know schools are doing a pretty good job in some places better than others. Obviously where you know. They're setting up programs and teaching them about these things and stuff like that. But i do think that this is a little bit of something that should also be taken with a grain of salt and also to me does not necessarily solve the larger issue at hand Which is that players should be compensated by. Their schools aimed order conferences. Okay let's go to that. Because by by thursday morning this is going to be legit. The nc double a. is issuing press releases every ten minutes Trying to to make it look like they've been in on all this all along. So harry let me ask you about what you're suggesting and i'm sure there were some guffaws from the audience when they when when when they heard what you said. Explain more elaborate a little bit more on why you think beyond. Even this player should be paid by the schools. I mean just because in any other business and you have billions of dollars that are being made and everybody involved is somehow getting cut. I think that for a lot of people who think the players should not get any revenue or any of the money that brings in. They think that like okay. We're going to giving the top players like millions of dollars. And i don't think that's necessarily how it would work. I think that obviously that would be something to figure out. But the end. I l is not a parallel solution to actually giving the players. The compensation that they deserve based on the revenue the billions and billions of dollars or revenue. That they're bringing in because also if you think about it. A lot of these players like win. Are they going to have the time. In order to make inadequate of money amount of money off of their name. Image and likeness lightness. Excuse me now. That's not to say that they're just going to have absolutely no time or couldn't get somebody to help them handle that or anything of that nature but the larger issue here still is at hand right. This is not money that is coming from. Schools is not money. That's coming from conferences. It's certainly not coming from the instable. This money is coming from third parties. That players are athletes at any level Would be fortunate enough to get so. I think that it is a good thing. Like we can all agree on that. And i mean if you don't like your kind of a sucker but like whatever but this is a good thing but it still needs to be better and in talking with a few players. This past week You know they're happy about this right. They're happy about the allston ruling but they're still lot more that needs to be done harry. I'm not here to debate. I mean i. I understand what you're saying but i i will try to represent some of the things that we hear and i'll throw them at you and you can You can either choose not to swing or knock them out of the park and the main one is. I hear from callers every single day. Why do they need to be paid when they're getting free education. They're getting stipends. They're getting cost of living there. Getting you know however they conjure it up these days you know room and board and they're also accepting this from the university. I that argument is is like cool. I guess but you know like jim. The accountant like hey man like you know your company's making tons of money like we don't tell you like hey. Don't you just like crunching numbers for like the love of it right and we'll pay for like your you know your mortgage or whatever but nothing beyond that like we'll give you a few extra bucks on the sides you something like chick-fil-a and you can use like the nice ballpoint pens at work right and you can have like the super nice like office chair but like that's it right like you can't have anything else like we don't do this with anybody else now. I do understand the other side of that too where it's like. It hasn't always been like this right like there hasn't always been this incredible cash flow coming in and the way that we've got it today but i think that realistically you have to look at that money that's being made and you have to ask yourself. Why aren't the players getting a cut of that to me. Like like i said. I understand the argument and everything like that. I just think at this point lake got to find a new slant. Here we listen. I understand what you're saying. And i realize every athlete that goes out on on a football field or any other field is taking a risk. Their career could end instantly. We know that but but somewhat some would argue though that the player other than other than risking that you know isn't isn't isn't taking on liability. They're not paying the infrastructure bills. They're not paying the insurance spills. They're not putting all of this out there. They're not making sure the stadium is safe. I mean these are old arguments and you know that. But but. But but. But i'm just wondering if i if you will at least concede to those out there in the hinterlands and the peanut gallery that there is more to it than how much money is coming in. No i do agree. Those are those are definitely like all things that that needs to be considered to me. It's just a matter of like there's got to be something more. There's just too much money. The way that the ncwa operates with like obviously now expanding the playoffs and all this other kind of stuff like that like these big tv deals in the way that they like. Fix the books and all this kind of stuff like that. i understand. there's so much more that goes in you know like there's plenty of athletes right beyond college football and basketball that we would like to also pay within this and you would have to But i think that there's a way to figure that out like it's a completely different game now like this is. This is a sport that has gone beyond amateurs it has gone gone beyond. Just right guys or girls going to school and you know hitting the books and on the side. They're playing in track and field or football or anything like that. I just think at this point you know unless for whatever reason i understand a lot of us to kind of like hold beliefs that like you know a pauper like a dad or whoever told you growing up like hey like this is the way it is like. I feel like we got like kind of like get past this thing and and really just like open up our minds and look at what this thing is like this is the scan and i think that also enrolling while it did not necessarily have to do with absolute player compensation and more to do with educational benefits. It kind of got at and you know kind of close that son of okay guys like this isn't totally right and to have that ninety ruling i mean for that supreme court's all agree on something. You gotta be wrong in some form or fashion talking to harry lyles junior. Harry let me let me go back to something you said. It's a very beginning..

"To mike on friday about him. Saying you know ninety percent of his friends would not take the vaccine and you know you wonder you and i can remember back to where they lined us up shirt. And they shot us polio. Of course you know. I'm thinking our parents didn't even know they were doing nothing. That does what i do realize now that we have i think the sand is part of Yeah well let me let me restate my my answer here. One of the saddest parts of cloven has been the political ization or the politicisation of it. And and and we can't get away from a now and it's too late You know. I was watching a political rally. The other night and people in the audience were were demanding. That she she'd be locked up. Well he's you know. I think. I think that's probably it's probably too late for that But yeah that's that's where we are right now. Which covert well. Yeah because i mean the coach when they started to ask him question actually said. I can't answer because if you want to make this political yeah. It was very inarticulate answer. Well yeah but we still don't know what happened. What exactly. yeah. I mean that's You know. I blame a couple of people. I blame the coach. I blame his boss. The athletic director for not just going ballistic. And i know that sounds over the top but fans want to know that someone is looking out for them. And and i really think Instead of giving inarticulate answers about the politics of covid. He should've just throw a fit and gotten it out of the way and screamed and hollered And then it would be over with. But at least his fan base would have felt like they were represented. They were being represented. Instead i think wolf the wolf pack nation just felt like nobody was standing up for them and somebody should demand an answer i read. I read the former governor of north carolina. He called for mark amer to be fired. I mean the problem with calling for mark emirate to be fired as you gotta get online now. I mean in the in the lines around the block. Let's continue with more more calls and david is up next to hello david. Go right ahead. How you doing this afternoon. I'm doing great. Thank you i would. I would like to take you away from baseball for just a moment and kind of take you back down Few years ago when you were in birmingham Did you ever envision the success if your program would have david know. The one thing about this industry internally. There isn't a lot of joy from the people that you work for and in i'm talking about going back. There's always something going on there. There's always a the changes in the industry so you we really have a hard time looking at what you're doing and thinking this great Even though you know there's an audience there. So i i was the move from birmingham to the sec network was a difficult move and i know people say come on. Don't don't give me that line so you know everyone always says it's the hardest decision my life. The reason why it was. Because i wasn't convinced it would be successful I had my doubts that where i was going. Which is where i am now. You know the people here would understand. What i knew was working back in birmingham and and that was my biggest concern that we would get to a big network and they would go They were trying to change the show. They were trying to dictate how is operated and the magic of what we had for so many years back there would be lost somehow david. I guess he clearly wasn't buying my my explanation. Either that or satisfied with it. Let's continue with more conversations. Here and kerry is up next in north carolina kerry there this is marsha pits more I'm nc state grad. And after all of this. I'm just nam as a lot of other. People are and the biggest issue that i've got with this. Whole situation is the lack transparency. As you already alluded to but the biggest thing is is i today have read an article that was on pack insider and it reiterated that sunday afternoon kindle rogers at division one baseball. It's an article about this whole situation and it was trying to figure out what you know the whole town line. One and bottom line is is that two players who were unvaccinated. Were not test positive for covid because they'd been tested every other day as per. Ncwa rules then two more. Were not feeling well so they were also tested and what became weird then was on friday. It said And i'm looking at this while i'm sitting here. No i read that article and it's the best article i've seen yet. And it said that the players were then sent over to the marriott for further testing. Those results arrived ninety ninety minutes before the game started and they had only the four positive tests but for some reason the nc double a. decided to test everybody and when they decided to test everybody they truck them over to get further tests even the they did players and out of all of the out of all the tests. That were run. You had the four initial positive and then you had four vaccinated players who were also positive. The total of eight and even a player family said the state players had been tested six times and they were all negative except for these eight players so the thirteen took the field on friday but the other negative players were allowed to come back to the ballpark to play. That is the part that is just totally and completely unfair marsha. I'm glad you mentioned that. Because i did read that in a i think it's shameful. I really do. i don't understand it. I mean while the writer was kendall. Did a really nice job of pointing all the time. Line agai- you. Stop me your bag. Have you seen any explanation yet. From the nc. Double about why. They did what they did. No i have not. And i know some people are really upset with vanderbilt coach. And there's rumors propping around here where i live. Is you know. Care the outside raleigh. So i'm nine minutes from campus. Sure there's been. Let me ask you this marcia. What what is what is the what are what are people objecting to in relation to tim. Corbin the vanderbilt coach because they the the accusation has been made is that the ncwa may hand pamela of the positive covid tests with the state players and he said will if my players have been around them already. I want the whole came tested and that is wear no one has owned up to why the nc double a. decided to test everybody and and the everybody includes not on the players they they tested the countries and the pfaff that were they. They tested offering parts. There needs to be And again this is too late for their needs to be a legitimate investigation into this and right now we've seen one reporter put a time together and it's been a very revealing timeline but marcia thank you for the call and I understand i mean. That's i mean you're in the in in the in the in the scene at the scene out there in the In the triangle. And they're everyone. I'll be upset if it doesn't matter. I mean you know vanderbilt wins. Losers indifferent there needs to be transparency. That's all there is to it and and and the ncw wants to be transparent when it's to their advantage but but this is the biggest event of the year for them in baseball. Speak up. don't spin it. Just just spit it out. Let's take more of your phone calls right after this. You're listening to paul. Finebaum show podcast. We are back and just look down and check the calendar..

"Afternoon. I'm trying to move the calendar ahead tonight because everybody's excited about what's about to happen in omaha and that's where we begin. It's the final monday night of the college baseball season. And how interesting. The teams tim. Carbon saying we stay in our lane as he reacted over the weekend. The early morning late night news at nc state was a no contest they would be able to rest one of their the aces of their staff and have him ready to roll tonight against mississippi state. The two and four teams in the sec are the last two remaining in the national championship. Another all s. c. c. final. Seems like we've seen this one before so just a couple years ago in baseball. We've seen it in football. Remember alabama georgia. I think a few people remember that game. The florida big win over Pulmonary team and seventeen. We saw it and women's basketball starting football again and don't forget. We saw it in baseball just ten years ago. Ray tanner now. The athletic director winning another national championship down there. So it's very exciting. We'll obviously spend plenty of time this afternoon and into the early evening. Getting you ready for omaha and love to hear from all of you. But that's not the only store making the rounds. Today there is other news happening and this is a tradition. That the old birmingham news. You should do now. It's dot com every year around this time they asked the sports information directors to vote and they could've asked they could have picked ten people off the street and would come to the same conclusion. It's alabama and georgia for the sec. Title and georgia have the team to beat alabama. That is the question and we will hope to answer that over these next six seven weeks as we get you ready for the college football season. Today's guests harry lyles. Junior look forward to that. Always steve kennedy was the founder of fans meet idols. and jeff brantley who knows a little bit about the mississippi state bulldogs former major league star. He will join us a little bit later on. But we'll get to your phone calls. And i just looked down and there are plenty of the dale ability to start to show off so if you want to give us a ring you can call us now at eight five five two four two seven two eight five and that is eight five five two four two seven two eight five and there is just still so much conversation about the way the nc double a. Handled this over the weekend. And i've heard both sides. I don't wanna hear more from from all of you this afternoon. what what. What should they have done. What could they have done better. What did they do wrong to do. An nc state fan this morning got an earful from that individual. But that's that's that's the way it goes in and there are just so many different thought processes as a result of the ncw. Did i if you remember the time line is. We were coming on the air here on friday. We were finding out that the game expected to begin at two pm. Eastern time had been put off. They did play the game and one of the arguments that many have wondered. Why did they play that game Should they have waited. Should have said you know what we're going to take a break until we get all the facts in and they played the game. Obviously vanderbilt won the game with with rocker on the mound and then mississippi state played that night against texas or was no was at the mississippi state played texas that night and the game was about over. There was a rain delay and finally the game ended about two o'clock in the morning and around that time the ncwa issued the rather ambiguous statement putting all the blame on the local authorities in nebraska. Saying that the health the health officials had recommended that nc state knob play and. I think that there is where most of the aggravation. And the animus toward the w comes from. Why didn't why didn't they simply. Why did they do it at two o'clock in the morning were they attempting or hoping that nobody would be paying attention when when many many people around the country. We're still watching that game. Or did they simply not have their act together and you know and of course the nc state coach didn't exactly help matters when you know he. He said His his team. He gave his team explaining to his team They can do whatever they wanted. That was one thing in a lot of the People from nc state of argued that you know we did you know the players didn't want to get vaccinated in the middle of the season because there can be side effects true there can be conversely The vanderberg entire vanderbilt team had been vaccinated. They'd never had a problem all year. Finally the coach at nc state. I think walked into it by saying when asked he had been vaccinated. His answer was i. Don't wanna get political To the sports medicine experts whatever. So that's where we are your reaction at eight five five two four two seven two eight five. Let's begin with phil who was in nashville. Hayfield go right ahead. Hey paul thanks for taking my call. politics thanks. I i. I'm a big van de fan and i i'm just I feel northbound state players me especially the seniors. Those guys that played this long and get just one game away going into college world series and this happens and just you know me personally. I don't know how the people's field. But i had no shots and nothing happened to me about. We say they had their shots. And i just wish to end the nc doubly. We'll hannah different. And maybe they could have played later in the week or something. Maybe you know and number two paul me personally. I think van de they have a hard mississippi state. Because i believe honestly there batts has gone cold. The pitch is still good but they're banter seem like there is code. How do you feel about that. You know you're right about that the one thing Here's here's the situation with with the nc double life you know. everyone knows. The games are or scheduled for monday. Tuesday and if necessary on wednesday. They had sunday sunday. Was i mean if they needed more time. But i don't you know whatever their decision I'm sure they have a. They have a protocol. What what i think is they were wrong about was simply not explaining it being honest being transparent the biggest moment of the college baseball season. Explain it. i don't care who you drag out You can issues. You can issue a press release at two thirty in the morning and say at nine o'clock we're going to mark it's going to be speaking or the director of of whatever is going to be speaking but that's why they looked so bad and i know a lot of reporters have tried to cobble together. What what they think is the is the time line. But it's just it's the easiest thing in the world used to hate on the nc double a. But when you have something like this happened. Explain porno reference. Let's go back to the the. Sec basketball tournament in march on march twelve of twenty twenty they announced it was shutting down. Commissioner sankey was available. What was available for interviews press conferences. I mean he was there for four hours answering every single question. The ncw as best. I know still hasn't answered a single question yet. We'll take a break. More of your phone calls at eight five five. Two four to seventy eight five called finebaum now eight five five two four two seven two eight five. That's eight five five two four two paul. This is paul finebaum. Show listening to the paul finebaum show. Podcast you're on a monday.

"Of content marketed. Yup that's definitely one way to look at it. We think there's a lot of relationship building that can happen in a podcast. We love the relationships that we build by being able to collaborate on content and then content sharing within these engagement groups on link din. So you've just got to think about ways to use social media as not just this megaphone but a way to actually replicate what you do offline. Ben you and i have known each other for a little bit. If you emailed me and said hey i need a favor about this or that. Then we'd have a conversation about it using social media to do those same sorts of things in finding ways to help each other out and build those relationships where you have mutual benefit is often missed by folks in the bbc space trying to use social media to grow their audience. I think that's a great tip on. I think if. I had to summarize what we've talked about in this conversation as a you're creating multimedia content and your repurposing and breaking down into smaller chunks publishing it if you're looking for a bb brand primarily on linked using status updates with the link that you're trying to drive people to in the comments you need to be active in the conversation after you coast. And then there's also this notion of having an engaged group to show linked in the post is valuable by having engagement early after the post has been published. Did i miss anything. Nope you know in james. Our founder had a really great article on seven ways to get thousands of views on your lincoln post. We can probably linked to that in the show notes. I think that was one that he's gotten a ton of good feedback on and people have taken some practical stuff away from. College Football Playoff contenders waiting to see if Big Ten gives Ohio State title game break

"I wanna talk to you about the big picture. You mentioned ohio state. And i mean. They're they're the topic of conversation right now. We don't know whether the the game this weekend is on. No michigan is attempting to practice. But there's no guarantee that game goes on. so how does this committee Look at look at ohio state and what is the big ten due to try to help their their prize bull because it's all about ohio state in the big ten this year. Yeah i think what we're going to see is no matter what the circumstance is. The big ten is going to find a way to make sure ohio state one gets in that title game and that you know assuming that they're going to win that because i personally think that you know ohio state is headed shoulders. Better than everybody else. I think he could have. Probably honestly you take. Justin feels off that team and they would still be much much much better than the second best team. Whoever you want to pick their whether it's our indiana who else And it's kind of funny right. Ohio say always ends up finding itself in this position. Where if they're not already in it's like hey like j. Should be the fourteen in or maybe they shouldn't be the four team in But i think no matter what here. They should feel pretty confident about their circumstances. You know whether or not they actually play on saturday or not. Because there's just no way that the big ten is going to send any other representative to play off other than ohio state this

She says it caused $70,000 in damages and displaced her daughter and granddaughter. The basement flooded with sewage. Two. Garbage was horrible. Harry Law and other community members say they've gotten confusing and conflicting guidance from the city comptroller's office about how to get full compensation for their claims. Be a crazy person would suggest that that's not lyles are not possible. Sites. We hang up hanging up pretty high, and we haven't seen proba pullback. On the daily alway clear for quite some time that look we could continue to keep on moving out. Let's let's take ourselves back to that sort of. Projection run of two, thousand, nineteen, where we you know we we saw massive moving. We saw many strong wakes, but that was also pulled back I mean we saw in on the twenty ninth. Of April the Sixth of my thirteenth May and the nineteenth. Sorry Mike, we sort go up. That was full wakes. Aquatic strong move there as well that that full-week move let me just take from those full weeks with seventy one percent now for. The loss of five weeks sammy seen a thirty percent Mussa note is big percentage. Wise. that. We pulled back into the trials on a little bit on that Waco game back in June, and then we shot back up headed tools that fourteen thousand dollar mock. So I am. I'm not thinking about this I'm just watching. What the bucket is providing me and saying, is there anything there that is signal to make to be more bullish bearish right now longtime on bullish meeting Tim on bullish. Oliver the four out there highlights and they're all higher highs. So I can't really can't build Germany cases being short right now the the one out can look we do have some resistance at thirteen, thousand, nine, hundred, seventy, two. Two test but did push down low just recently where are we today with Bitcon? We'll close down point three percent at thirteen, thousand, seven, hundred, and fifty one dollars. So Guy, it's pretty happy days right now theorem at an Oscar push-up es died. Now, there is a two-day candidates also quite bullish. This I'm keeping a close on Theorem as well. It's broken out this morning through the to test level of Wa- on full, which was a guy in the level I said before this is a law time from him looking and I will be provided that the simplicity kicks continues I will be looking for for long try on a theory. On looking quite NAS as a trend there. Needs to settle itself a bit more three, hundred, Ninety, seven, thirty, four now, which represents two point seven percent up. Except pay also cheaper, we mentioned the weekly the on a theory as well. It was actually down two point, two percent at the moment. Noah nearest bullish. Well, Bitcoin has course nothing really has banked buffet. Ex pays close awake daffy five point two. Britt Lyle II on design

"Your host Maris cherry and this week. I'm talking with Britt Lyle the second a Motion Graphics designer here in Atlanta, Georgia. Let's start the show. All right. So tell us who you are and what you do. My name is Britt Lyle. I am a motion graphic designer. I'm a graphics assistant at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Now, I've been asking everyone, you know kind of starting off for these interviews how they're sort of holding up right now, you know, we're recording this right now in late September. It's pretty easy. I think well known that we're going to be in the states for a while. Now, how have you been holding up during this pandemic? Oh, wow, there have been like there been good days and bad days. I've been holding up generally well, but like there have been, you know good days and bad days. Like I said I tend to deal with anxiety sometimes so that has been kind of a struggle wage. Kind of cope with along with like just regular anxiety Then the election and covid-19. Like one of the things I learned in grad school is like you have to take time to for yourself, especially in stressful situations. And this entire year has just been one big stressful situation off. So it's very very important to like make yourself as comfortable as possible. Especially someone who like regularly deals with anxiety and off. Yeah, so I just basically just tried to make sure that if I feel like in some type of anxiety attack coming that I make sure to remove myself from the situation and ground myself before coming back to reality so to speak gotcha. Now let's talk about your work at sports and entertainment and can you kind of briefly describe what a MB sports and entertainment is and just sort of what is a regular day like for you right now since you're working from home, so am be Sports entertainment. We are sort of like a company within a company job. We do work for the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United. My job specifically is Graphics assistant. So basically that means I help out anyone else you need help with any other big project whether it's coming up with Gameday Graphics video editing color correction or any other regular or irregular occurrence. I might occur to you today. How did you get started there on a whim a lot of a lot of the jobs that I've gotten in particularly designed jobs of Applied on a whim. So I was laid off at my previous job, which I was very very sad about and I was just applying applying everywhere that I can and I saw the post for graphics assistant at a MB. And again, it was one of those things for me. It's like I can't in good conscience past this up and say Thursday. I tried everything that I could so I apply thinking that like I wouldn't hear anything and they turned out to be one of the few people that actually gave me like like three rounds of interviews and hired me within like a month. Nice. Yeah, so you mentioned, you know kind of working on these, you know, not random projects, but you kind of work on an ad-hoc basis as an assistance. So are there any sort wage projects that you like take the lead on or you always kind of working in that second kind of capacity mostly in a secondary capacity because there are people who have been there since the building open since as soon as construction ended they hired a design team and those and some of those people have left but there are still some people have been there since its Inception and they kind of know they build out the process. They're the ones who really like all the assignments all of the the dimensions birth. All the renders all of these little details. They're the ones who built it from the ground up and I'm essentially follow the process. I'll give my two cents every now and then if I feel like it'll help but for the most part they have pretty much have like a game plan laid out for how certain things are done and how certain things are processed. And so, you know, just so folks name Mercedes-Benz stadium in Atlanta is fairly new. I think it was opened and what 2018-2017 2017-2017? Okay, and then prior to that it not in the same space, but pretty close to it was the Georgia Dome that's where I used to work actually years and years and years and years ago. I worked for the Georgia Dome the the Georgia World Congress Center and since Olympic Park, so I'm familiar with that whole kind of campus area and I know back then I mean Georgia Dome all that is owned by the state, but Mercedes-Benz is privately owned. Do you know if off? Any of the the Congress Center staff works there also since it's so close not intimately like I think some people transferred but I mean as far as I know most people have been there since MBS was a thing. I'm not sure if any other people from Georgia Congress moved on to other projects, but I do know that they got a lot of different people from a lot of different places to kind of help build this team up. Yeah. I was just always curious about that cuz I still know a good number of people over there so long what's the best thing you would say about the work that you do? All of the work that I do is like kind of unconventional and well, I guess not unconventional like sort of a dimension sizes that I do that I work with like no one else in the world really works with these type of Dimensions cuz inside the stadium there's this song Halo board, and it's like six feet high, I think it's got like Fifty four thousand LED lights on it and the the file sizes and the dimensions that we work with are just pretty unorthodox and pretty wild to kind of like work with and when I first got started, you know someone I got trained in art school or just doesn't in designing was as the standard 1920 x 1080 and then suddenly I have to deal with sizes that are like fifty thousand nine fifty thousand five thousand or ten thousand sizes and it's kind of weird but it's also kind of cool cuz like you you kind of makes my portfolio stand out a little bit off and yeah, I guess that would be the best thing is that like I do I do the type of design that are very different than anyone else does and it may be kind of hard to put on social. Which is why I tend to put it on my website, but at the same time like not a lot of people can say they have designed the stuff that I designed and

Dallas Cowboys make handful of roster moves, activate Brown from IR

"Tyron Smith is now gone for the year it was announced on Friday two days ago Mike. McCarthy confirmed the report from NFL networks. Mike Fellow and Jane Slater Day before Mike McCarthy confirmed the tarrant Smith will undergo season ending surgery next week the cowboys are hopeful that he'll be back in two thousand and twenty one the Dallas cowboys already down there other offensive tackle in Lyle Collins Who Unlike Tyran Smith did not play a down this season. Also, it's worth mentioning that Travis Frederick. Retired shortly after Mike McCarthy took over as head coach his replacement if you want to call them that in Joe Looney. A sprained MC l. he is scheduled or slated I should say to miss the next two to three weeks just depends how that's going to go tyler beyond the cowboys fourth round rookie out of Wisconsin. Same place they got Travis. Frederick. Of course, seemingly is a much more stable option than anybody that's going to replace tarrant Smith or Lyle Collins but I bring all of this up to say that when my McCarthy. Signed his contract to be the head coach of the Dallas cowboys he did. So with likely knowledge that at the very least tired smitten, Lyle Collins would be playing for his football team and quite possibly unless you knew at the time that Travis Frederick was going to retire the Travis. Frederick. would be playing as well. So he's now down sixty percent of the offensive line he thought that he. Would have their many defensive players that are out Joe McCoy. One of the teams biggest off season signings is gone because he got hurt on the first day of practice and so this this team and where they are a month into the season is very different than the one Mike McCarthy sat down implant. That's all I'm saying it is definitely true that you have to adjust in the NFL. That's life things happen injuries happen with stuff happens that sports that's life like I said and so Mike McCarthy ultimately has to be held responsible for that because he's the head coach that's the hat that he wears, but it is worth saying and that's why I said now let's talk about some of these injuries and some of the roster moves the Dallas cowboys made ahead of this game on. Saturday day before this that you and I are talking day before game. Day the. Dallas. Cowboys made a handful of roster adjustments. It had been rumored all week long that Anthony. Browne would be returning from injured reserve and remember that injured reserve operates differently due to cove nineteen protocols and now nfl players only have to be on injured reserve for three weeks before they are eligible to return Anthony Brown. Is Eligible to return. It was speculated all week long that he would rejoin the cowboys they are in massive need of help in their secondary. So they officially Anthony Brown bag he is the first player that the Dallas cowboys have brought back off of injured reserve so far this season other candidates for this potential obviously include Sean Lee late and vanish. We'll see about cam irving things like that. But Anthony Brown I one. So the cowboys activated Anthony Brown. He is now part of the fifty three man roster, of course. So is Francis Bernard a fan favourite linebacker, undrafted free agent linebacker out of Utah many people, Francis, Bernard in the training camp portion of the year. Obviously no preseason he is. Now on the fifty three man roster, the cowboys have needed massive help in the linebacker. Department So far this season

Farming Releases Carbon From The Earth's Soil Into The Air. Can We Put It Back?

"Okay Dan. Let's dig in digging in return. Lol. was in Nigeria trying to improve agriculture by making the ground more fertile running into some big problems. You should know something about how he is not the sort of guy who's going to give up I am by nature. Competitive. You're either going to be in the top one, two, three, four hours you're not under survive. This attitude goes back to his childhood He grew up poor in India, his ticket out of the village was a government stipend a few dollars each month to study at university. And only keep getting that stipend if his grades were in the top five in the class I've always scared if I did not get good grades. Ira Not got these type and. So that was the motivator always. Fear. It was fear. Of Insecurity He that's. In security never really napped me even when. He found his way to the US for Grad School at Ohio. State. got a PhD in Soil Science. And so now picking up our stories back in Nigeria determined to find a way to protect the soil in his research plots. And one day. A famous scientist came to visit Roger rebel one of the pioneers in what we now call climate science. So Pretend Lau tells rebel about his problems how this organic matter just keeps disappearing. And reveal says you know the organic matter is going into the air as carbon dioxide. That's the main greenhouse gas. Any asks reten lower question. Can you put it back? Can you put it back like put the carbon back into the soil Yep? That's simple statement. Can you put it? was. My introduction. Climate and so it stuck with you. It's stuck with me. It's still there. Dude. Yeah. It sounds like a question that changed his life. Yeah. It's sort of brought together these two worlds. On the one hand there's farming which loud had been focused on and on the other hand there's climate science our heating up the globe releasing greenhouse gases and Dan this problem we should say retain was trying to solve in Nigeria where too much carbon escapes when you use land to grow food this is it's not a problem specific to one country. Oh, it's it's happening everywhere. it happens perhaps faster in Nigeria where the because of the hot climate and the physical structure and chemical makeup of the soil. But same thing happens everywhere that people are growing crops. So you know just an example, the American Midwest couple of hundred years ago when that was all covered with grass, that soil was really rich in carbon then settlers arrived plowed it all up. And immediately that released carbon dioxide into the air tons of it from every Acre of soil and today roughly half of the carbon across the Midwest is gone well, scientists have actually come up with an estimate for the total amount of carbon released from soil around the world. Since people started farming, you want hear the number of course I do. What? One hundred thirty. Billion metric tons of carbon. With the be okay. That sounds that sounds like a lot. So it is a lot. In perspective at the current rate that the US is burning fossil fuels, it would take us a quarter century to release that much carbon dioxide okayed. So Dan, you're saying that while he was working on ways to get that carbon back into the ground, how exactly did he start to do that? Okay. So this idea what people call carbon sequestration in soil really became his calling card. When he came back to Ohio state, you know to teach in the late nineteen eighties he was writing articles giving. Describing the soil as this vast global reservoir of carbon. So farmers have been depleting the reservoir releasing carbon into the air. But he started doing experiments to see if they could also refilled at reservoir with the West malts experiment. And it was setup totally back in one, thousand, nine, hundred, and nine. So, this isn't an all moon allow. He's a PhD student at Ohio State in one of lyles students. and. He is showing me one of these experiments was going for thirty years small squares of soil. Universities. Research Farm. Dedication. Experiment keep going and see these long term phenomenon inaction anyway. So some of the plots have been covered with mulch made of Straw every year others have stayed bear and those bare soil plots now contain less than one percent carbon versus the carbon content in plot the receives maximum amount of Mulch is probably upwards four percent. Okay four percent versus one percent. That's a lie. Yeah. That's actually a huge difference. If you have that big of a difference in an Acre of soil depending how deep you're measuring, that would be thirty tonnes of carbon. If you extended that across all American crop land, it would be billions of tons of additional carbon in the ground. It would cancel out the about one year's worth of the country's total fossil fuel burning. and. It also makes saw better in a fertile at holds more water contains more nutrients like nitrogen, the life blood of soil organic

SF Giants Off to Successful Season Start

"It's a new world of Giants baseball. And frankly, it's been a very good week for the Giants and a continued last night as the Giants beat the Texas Rangers 7 to 3. It was a close game for a while. Look like it was going to be 4 to 2 of 5 to 2. And then the things happen a little bit later. And the Giants ended up winning the game 7 to 3 over the Texas Rangers for the Giants. After that, 1st 2 games down in L. A Things are much better for them. 43 runs scored for the Giants. They've given up 50 so they have a run differential of minus seven. But you start the season might is 15 after a couple of games and you see they have whittled that down. But for the Giants last night against Texas was men and boys, really the Texas pitching staff 11 walks And a hit batter for the Texas pitching staff. Last night, Jordan Lyles was all over the place and helped the Giants tremendously with all the walks that he gave up, and for the Giants, they took advantage of it, and it was really nice to see A ball club that is doing something offensively and To those of us who've watched Giants baseball for so long. You know, that offense has always been somewhat of a question for the Giants over these last 10 or 11 years of tremendous results with great pitching. But the offense has always been a question. Now. All of a sudden the offense is leading the way and the pitching is doing fine. You know, Drew Smyly last night. We'll talk about the game. But you, smiley I ended up going four innings than leaving the game with the discomfort of the index finger. So that means a trip to a Dr Scott Hampson. I'm sure and two of the hand therapists, Nancy And I know them both very well. And he's going for an M R I on that index finger, so ligament issue or something like that. But Smiley did go four innings last night for the Giants and continue that streak of no starting pitcher going five innings. For the Giants, and that's the longest streak in the history of Major league baseball. So today they look to Jeffs a margin to try to break that. See if he can give him five good innings today. But continuing with last night, 52 at our be eyes. For the Giants to out and they got the hit to drive in a run three for 10 with runners in scoring position,

"And entrepreneur in your feed one. You're limiting your reach. Based on Lincoln's algorithm number two and more importantly people are scrolling right past those as they look for great content that they can learn from on the without having to open another APP. Just give the people what they want and give linked in what is looking for as well number two is a little bit more involved once you start sharing your own original content. You've got to mix it up and you got to stay consistent. Let's talk about mixing it up. I saw my content reach explode when I started. Sharing Techs only post that maxed out the thirteen hundred character limit that Lincoln gives you for a status update. But if that's all you're ever doing you'll start to blend in and the content you share will become bland and it will lack variety. So here's a quick story. I started sharing once a week. Two or three sentence posts. That were a big difference from the typical thirteen hundred three to four hundred posts. I had been doing and I saw those reach the highest heights. I've seen of any post visibility on linked in yet. So here's the lesson you've got to mix up. Sometimes you do a video. Captions are definitely your friend. Here and APPS like headliner can help you make this more efficient. Also don't always stick to the same format for texts posts. Do a list post drop a short question like I mentioned. The one that I mentioned was actually. Hey if you join a video conference call and the other person doesn't have their video on what do you do? Ask them at their webcams broken question. Mark and that was the post that saw the most visibility of any post. I've ever done on linked in quite surprising to me. If you're going to stay consistent and mix it up as I mentioned both are important. You've got to keep a full backlog of content ready to share. Here's my way of going about that. Keep your notes or voice memo APP Handy. Put them on the home screen of your phone so that you can capture the start of an idea when it hits you this way. You don't sit down at eight in the morning trying to come up with a new post every day on Lincoln all right number three leverage engagement groups. If you're not familiar with this idea it's as simple as setting up a group text on your phone. But a linked inversion. There's an article from Josh Timely. That caused them engagement pods. That breaks down what these are and how you can leverage them but a little bit more here once. You have this group message. Setup on linked in have everyone in the group dropped the link to their posts in a thread whenever they have a new one. Go live this will make it easy for a close group of five to twenty five people to leave early likes and especially comments which Lincoln's algorithm loves. Take it a step further and use this tactic of engagement groups not just to boost your own content but to engage and build relationships with prospects reach out to at least four or five people in your target market or maybe a few current customers mixed in people who are actively sharing content online link didn't explain the value of an engagement group for their content reach basically what. I just told you and you'll see three specific benefits number one. You become the enabler that helps them succeed on linked number two you facilitate connections between prospects and their peers. That is always a win for you as a sales person number three you make it easy for you to engage with their content and build relationships with potential buyers pro tip leave thoughtful comments like some examples that James carberry our founder at sweet fish and I shared in an episode will link in the show notes. Here of be growth all right. Those are my three tips. Stop Sharing Third Party content mixed up and stay consistent and number three leverage engagement groups if you want to connect with me on link Dan. Pretty easy to find. Logan Lyles L. O. G. A. N..

That type of basketball is does not work in the nuggets favor offense, they need to work to get a better shot. Free-throw number one for is up an in. So you gotta think Malone will reward this unit here by leaving them in through the third quarter. And then give it another go here with the big horses in the fourth. Second free throw by Carol that one is good. And all of a sudden now Brooklyn's got that seventeen point lead back one zero four to eighty seven. Monte Morris has across the timeline. Heathrow's top Akita. Trey Lyles Lyles batches man up. She was brief pointer again that was no good rebound tipped and draft by tomorrow. Carol. He's across the timeline. Bando coast to coast leans in has a wok again this time by Ed Davis ball safe from going out of bounds right to Russell and the boss kicked by want show. And that will be Brooklyn basketball on the side here. Good job. I watch how they're being the one defender in a two on one situation in making it tough for the Brooklyn. Nets to make that pass allows the Denver defense to reset here. Rosalinda at Davis high right side, catching donate to the free throw line backs up to the three point line guarded by Vanderbilt. Dr throws left side over Russell back over here. Napier throws back over to Russell. Russell puts it on the floor gets the paint runs. Over lyles. That's going to be a foul on trae Lyles such a bad. Call. I just don't I don't know. What else you can do there? I mean, it's the offensive player creating contact every time could charge. I mean, he could get set there. He's outside the lane. He could've taken charge in that situation. Free-throw number one by Carol is good now Malone all up in the face of James Williams, Azziz, Tori, Craig. Second free throws on the way. And that one is good. One zero six to eighty seven nineteen point lead here for the Brooklyn nets. And across the time line is Monte Moore's. He's got it out there by Napier. He throws out to Lyles on the pick and pop Lyles puts it on the floor gets down the lane takes a jump shot. That's no good. Rebound beasley. I'm sorry. Vanderbilt missed it and the loose ball comes down to the ngelo. Russell Russell's across the timeline. Driving a dish Jefferson with a right hand. Twenty one point lead here for the Brooklyn next is their big lead of the night. Twenty seconds left to go here in the third quarter. Valiant effort by this crew. But a nice response by the home team to get it back out under control nine on the shot clock for Monte Moore's. Nobody coming yet with five seconds. Here's a high pick from Vanderbilt Monte will shoot a three that one's off the back of the rim. And no good rebound. Put back up and in by Tori, Craig? And I waved it off. They're not gonna count it. But they will review it. They said it was good. Okay. So they said it was good. I don't know. I was pretty close. Take a look at the replay here. That's real close. The top angle of the camera to you can't see the red light. So it'll take a look at it here at the break nuggets are down by nineteen points..

I'm sure Malone is not happy with the effort on that side of the best of all it's going to be the second. And this is a pretty good thing to say to them. This'll be the second time Denver's been blown out this year. Three pointer by Lyles is on the way that one's no good rebound down to cook. They got blown out by the clippers last week. And now this week against the Golden State Warriors other than that they have been in just about every other game that they've played not even just about they've been in every game. They play. Yeah.
