"Hello and welcome to the MMPB NFL podcast. I'm Connor Moore. We've got Albert Greer here. I'm in a good mood because I survived the most difficult part of the NFL preseason, Albert, which is getting my in-laws family through their fantasy draft. And oh, nice. So last year, the problem was at the last minute, one more person wanted to join. So we were in a Yahoo league that was locked. Yeah. And so the draft was going on as I was canceling the league. Half the people are drafting in Yahoo. And I love everybody there. But we got some septuagenarians here. Maybe not the most technologically inclined people. Yes, great people. But a little bit of work going on there. So half the leagues drafting in the Yahoo, texting me, freaking out. I'm creating an ESPN league here on the other side of the fence trying to get people who just figured out how to make a Yahoo account to make an ESPN account sign up for it. So this year, I'm like, OK, if we're going to do this again, let's run down all the possible scenarios and let's make sure everybody's good and everybody's good. And they say, yes. OK, 15 minutes before the draft starts, two separate people in the league create two usernames. So of the 12 teams, two people have four teams. And then it is blocking the other two people who didn't sign up when we asked them to sign up. So now the draft is again in five minutes. I'm trying to remove the extra managers. You can't do it because the draft is technically live. And so then you have to use the league manager tools to shut down the draft, remove the managers, and then the draft goes in 15 minute increments. You have to push it 15 minutes down the road. Well, some people can't draft in 15. And I was just like, I'm never doing this again. I'm so much looking forward to it, but that is the barrier. I may have your solution. So step down. My son's playing tackle for the first time this year and someone set up for his tackle team, a fantasy league. And so I had to sign into it. Right. Like and so I sign into it and I'm like, OK, when's the draft? And Steve's really excited about this and everything else. We decided to just do an auto draft. Oh, and then, yeah, just go from there, which I thought was kind of genius. Just let the computer take care of it. Boom. Auto draft. Now you can kind of go forward and manage your transactions from there and work your roster from there. But yeah, like if if you're dealing with people who like like like you said, like the septuagenarians might not be like technologically inclined enough to get it done. Well, like the eight, nine year olds are the same way. Right. So why don't you get the eight, nine year olds? Give them a team. Right. So they have a team now and then they can work from there. So maybe the auto maybe the auto draft thing is the right thing for you guys, too. Oh, that's brilliant. One more funny fantasy football draft story. We're doing our season predictions, by the way, our Super Bowl predictions, our word predictions. So hang on for that after we get through with all of our grievances from fantasy drafts. So here's one more thing. This is just a story that is unique to people working inside of the NFL and also drafting fantasy football teams. So I am in a league with Mike Garofalo from NFL Network, who, you know, very well, Mike and I came up together at the ball. Mike was well on his way to being famous. And I was like the intern transcribing his bullet quotes. I believe Mike would have been Giants beat writer then, right? Giants beat writer. Yeah. I was an intern. He he created my Twitter account. He's really. Yeah. The Giants signed Keith Bullock. And he was like, you have to transcribe this for me. I'm doing something. And he's like, I can just tweet out the quotes while he's saying it. And I was like, I don't know what that is. And I had to make a Twitter account. It was great. So Mike, Mike, help me out with that. So anyway, there is someone in the league with the username making fun of Garofalo, who I thought was Garofalo. And that person right in the middle of all the Travis Kelsey stuff going on took Kelsey in the first round. And so I am then my wife's drafting a fantasy league and she's like, what's going on with Kelsey? And I was like, I mean, Garofalo just took him in the first round, so I'm sure he's going to be fine. And then I find out, I find out like 10 minutes later that that wasn't Mike. I've kept the lid on that one, so I haven't really told her about that yet. But we'll see what happens with Kelsey. Hopefully plays tomorrow and you won't have to deal with it ever. Yeah. It's like today. She's like, for the record, I don't think he's played tomorrow, but it would be it would be like an easy, clean solution for Connor here. She's like, do you think he's going to play? And I was like, oh, hyper extended knee doesn't sound great. But see, is the is the team name making fun of Garofalo pretty good? It's not like the hat, is it? No, not because you remember that. Like, I think that was who was that that made that was that someone made that account. They used to piss Michael. He like was like kind of like, haha. But I think deep down it kind of pissed him off because it was a good habit. And you know what? It was like Mike. Mike is is a stylish guy and he was hanging out with not a lot of stylish guys. And I think that's the problem is when when you're taking your style to the next level and everybody else is trying to stay the same. There's a frustration there because people make funny. Try to be different. It was a good hat. I eventually bought a similar hat. So it was like a knit. Like, wasn't it like a knit cap? But it was kind of like looked like a quasi baseball cap, right? Yes. It was like a hybrid between like a tweed cap and like a knit cap and baseball cap. Yeah. The team was Garofold. Oh, I'm not sure if I'm not sure what the reference is. Yeah. I mean, the last thing on the fantasy thing is the great thing about this job is everybody thinks that you're like a fantasy master. Like I was helping Steve's hockey coach with his fantasy draft over text last night. And it's like, I just got to give you the warning that I finished last in my fantasy league, like every year with my college buddies, because they're sitting at work on like, you know, a Wednesday or whatever, like running the transactions and everything else. I can barely remember to set my line up on Sunday. So like this, this idea that I'm like that, that we're all like, we all have like this like treasure trove of like fantasy secrets. Like, I mean, I obviously it's my job to know what's going on in the league and all that different stuff. But I mean, I can barely tell you how the scoring works. So you might, I might not be your guy when it comes to that specific thing. I've gotten a D in most of my drafts because I keep taking a quarterback in like the second round. And then in like the fifth round, I take Anthony Richardson and and all the draft things like that's the dumbest pick. It's the worst pick. It's so stupid. I don't care. I want Anthony Richardson on my team, but I don't think he's good enough to be a starting quarterback. And OK, he could. I mean, he might be a really interesting Justin Fields. You know what? Like, I, I sort of think Shane Steichen is holding a lot of things back. And I sort of think and I sort of think that, like, I'm not saying it's going to be Washington in 2012. But you remember that, like Robert Griffin, like they showed nothing in the preseason. They showed nothing in the summer. And then that first game, they were they averaged like seven yards of play, scored 40 points at almost 500 yards. And I think that there's a possibility that the first month of the season could look like that for the Colts. So Richardson could wind up like at least in the short term before teams catch up with it, could wind up being a really good fantasy pick. So there's your fantasy advice from me. If you're out there listening and you still think that we're fantasy experts after listening to all that. And then and then I'll trade them. But I just want them on my team now. Anyway, so I have our staff predictions up, Albert, which are posted right now on SI.com. And I'm pretty bummed. I thought I had a unique Super Bowl pick. But like everybody, you and me, we have the same Super Bowl pick. Everybody's got this Super Bowl pick and we're not very original. We both have the Bengals nostalgia for 1988. Yeah, we have a Bengals 49ers Super Bowl on our hands here. Yeah. Yeah. It seems like that's the consensus. Me, you, Gilberto picked it. Yeah, I'm just scanning through this. But yeah, it's I was actually like interesting because it was my pick for the Super Bowl at the beginning of the playoffs last year. And those two teams, I believe both of them lost in the championship games. Right. And there were extenuating circumstances in both games. Right. Like the Bengals very easily could have beaten the Chiefs and the AFC title game if it weren't for the Joseph Assai thing. And then the Niners obviously have the quarterback injury that completely flipped upside down the NFC title game. So and you know what, like the one thing I hesitate with this is I think that like this is sort of a stock thing anyway. Like it does feel like the teams that are the darlings the next year are usually the teams that lost in the conference title game. So I wonder if I'm just stepping on a banana peel with that one. But I like both rosters are loaded, you know, and the Bengals between I think having the best receiver group in the league, maybe the second best quarterback in the league, a really good backfield, an offensive line they tore, they poured a ton of resources into. And then the defense has come up really big under Lou Annaromo in the playoffs the last couple of years. I you know, I think the Bengals are primed to get back there and they showed last year how sustainable what they did two years ago was. And then I just think the Niners have the best roster in football, you know, and they've been knocking on the door so consistently and generally teams that knock on the door eventually break through. I have them losing in the Super Bowl, but they've been right there. It's like almost like the Rams, you know, like the Rams were knocking on the door for an extended period of time and eventually kick the door down. I think the Niners have the best, most balanced roster in football. I think they have the most premium players in football. I think they have maybe the best coaching staff in football. And, you know, a lot of this is going to come down to what they can get out of Brock Purdy. So I don't know why more people don't and I understand the Rams when their Super Bowl year were a little bit of an outlier. But why don't more people pick their preseason Super Bowl picks based on the quality of depth? And I know that that's something that's sometimes hard for us to ascertain. But that's the reason I picked the Bengals in the 49ers. They're three deep at almost every position, both teams. And now the Bengals, you can say running back is a weakness. Tight end is probably a little bit of a weakness. And we'll see with that offensive line. I don't know. But even some of their backup quarterbacks are slinging in the preseason and looked OK if Joe Burrow is going to miss a few games. What cemented them as a Super Bowl champion to me was when I was there at training camp and I was there after Burrow got hurt. And what the receivers looked like, even with Burrow out. And it was like Jake Browning and Trevor Simeon throwing them. You know what I mean? And you watch it and it's like, oh my God. You take the second best quarterback in football out of the equation. And it often still looked like the 1999 Rams. And it was like, holy crap. And like what Chase was able to do, what Higgins was able to do. And they've got depth at those positions. And I'm with you on your other point, too. I think depth is the most underrated thing when you're making your picks, because, you know, all the cliches about pro football being a war of attrition are 100 percent true. Like the injury rate's 100 percent. Everyone's going to have injuries. And every year we hear teams bemoan, oh, well, we had this guy hurt that everyone has people hurt. You know what I mean? Like, and so there's an element of that where you almost can count on at least one, like, frontline cornerstone player is going to be out for an extended period of time. Right. And they're probably going to be a couple of starters out on top of that. And who can sustain the best. Right. And that's where the quarterback becomes really important, too. You know what I mean? Like, because the quarterback generally is, if the quarterback's a guy who can lift up people around him, well, then that can help you fix that problem. That's what Brady was so great with. Like, Brady could win with all different types of teams. You know, if he had an offensive line deficiency, the ball's out faster. If you have a receiver deficiency, he's going to throw it accurate enough where you won't need as much separation. If your defense is a problem, well, he can win the shootout. You know? Yep. And so that's the other part of it. It's like, it's the quarterback plus the depth. And I think the Bengals absolutely have all of it. The Niners will see. It's just that the roster is so overwhelming. You know? Like, when I was there, I was there, like, again, this is one of those where you pull a major part piece out of the equation. Their best player wasn't out there. Nick Posa wasn't out there. And you still look at it and it's like, holy crap. Like, there are just dudes everywhere here, you know? And so that's why I had those two teams there. And I think, you know, I don't want to sit here pretending I'm doing anything original with my pick. I think I picked the two teams that should be the favorites. Yeah, I agree. And I don't know. There's teams on here that would be fun for me to pick to go to the Super Bowl. The Jets are a perfect example. And I'm not just picking on the Jets because I think that there's something within this example that you can apply to a lot of other teams. Although picking on the Jets is kind of your brand. Picking on the Jets is a little, yeah, that's true. But what happens if, and knock on wood, I'm praying it doesn't happen. Well, I'm not going to name a name then, okay? What happens if an offensive lineman gets hurt? One, on that team. What happens if two get hurt on that team? And what is the likelihood that two get hurt on that team? How many teams out there have their same five from beginning to end for a majority of the snaps in a season? It's incredibly rare. Yeah, and there's so many teams like that too, because the offensive line is an issue, I think, across the NFL. Development of offensive linemen is an issue. I think every team in the AFC East has an offensive line issue. Every single one of them. Every single one. Right. And then the Chiefs have, like, no one talks about this, but Chiefs have two new tackles. And it should be an upgrade. And when I was there, they were like, this is the best set of tackles we've had. But communication is really important up front. Like, how do those guys fit with the other three? There could be a transition there. What I like about what the Bengals have done there is it was a weakness, no question about it, but they've kept throwing resources at it. And I think the Jonah Williams thing is really instructive, because they go get Orlando Brown, right? They have Lyle Collins, who's hurt, but who's coming off of an injury. And it's almost like, you know what, we can't throw enough resources at this. And like, if we get a second round pick for him, so what? You know what I mean? Like, it's like, what's that second round pick going to become? Like, don't we want to have that layer of depth here? Don't we want to have in case something happens? And you know what, like, if something doesn't happen, we'll figure it out. We'll find spots for all these guys. You know, we'll find a way to get our best five on the field. I don't know, like, I think that the way the Bengals have just continued to throw resources at it, I think is really smart, you know? And no, they didn't draft Pené Sewell over Jamar Chase, you know, a couple of years ago when, you know, I think, you know, Logic would have told you that it would have been the right thing to do. But they've thrown just about everything else at those positions, whether it was going and getting Lyle Collins and Ted Karras and Alex Capa, going and getting Orlando Brown this year, you know, drafting Jonah Williams where they did, they've continued to throw resources at it. And I think that allows for, hey, if there's an injury here, we're going to be okay. Yeah. I think those are, and here's probably the second thing that I don't think everybody takes into consideration when they're making preseason Super Bowl picks is, and you brought it up, what, how invested are you in your quarterback specifically? And the Bengals are, and it shocks me to hear this come out of my mouth. The Bengals are one of the most invested teams in the NFL in their quarterback. Now, it took them almost killing two other guys to get to this point where they feel like this is the right way to operate. But here we are. And you can say the same thing about San Francisco. Now, Brock Purdy is a seventh round pick, Mr. Elvin. But there is not a system in the NFL that is more friendly and more conducive to quarterback success than that one. And what they keep doing is they keep adding versatility, versatility, versatility. Brock Purdy is going to get vanilla looks on defense almost every time he steps up to steps under center. They're invested in him and they traded away Trey Lance like, you know, people could say that's crazy. But like, you want to remove that specter from the situation you want to give, you want to empower him and you've done it. And I think like it's interesting too, if you look like at the coaching staffs. And so I think like the Eagles of the previous iteration of the Eagles sort of became the model for this, where they just stocked their coaching staff with quarterback people. You know what I mean? Like, so it's Doug Peterson who played the position as the head coach. Then you had Frank Reich who played the position as the offensive coordinator, both those guys played in the league. John DiFilippo, who was a quarterback in college as the quarterbacks coach, you had Press Taylor on the next level after that. Like it was just the infrastructure there was we are going to get this right and we are going to create the right environment for the quarterback. You look at the Bengals. I mean, you talk about investing in the quarterback. Isn't part of that their head coach? Like I love Marvin Lewis. Marvin Lewis did some great things in Cincinnati. Marvin Lewis is a defensive coach. Having Zach Taylor, who played the position, who understands a lot about what goes into the position, played it at a high level at Nebraska.

"Watching a very fresh faced rich on with Ed Reed as we were watching here on the Roku channel and I have to say, we talked about this before the show Taylor's always wanting him to shave Chris. A fresh face. I prefer the bearded rich. I'm not gonna lie. Is that okay? Yeah, it's totally fine. I mean, you know. Number two counts more than most. I do, but I mean, so do you guys, we should probably talk about this when rich isn't on hold waiting to join us here on the rich eisen show, but that's just how we roll here. We like to discuss rich and third person and also like he's not even in the room or on the rich eisen show hotline. So we can welcome rich back into his very own show hi rich. Hey, suze, guys, what's going on? How's Indy? I am standing inside the convention center hall in the media center. And the fact that there is a media center for a combine just blows me away is, as you know, I've been coming here quite a while. As soon as it was 18 years ago, that I first left our homes were combined to say goodbye for a week. This is 18 years now and when I first came here it was in the old RCA dome, which has now been destroyed to make the parking lot for Lucas oil and there may be a handful of members of the media and they were all kept outside of the one entrance into the combine and they would just try to pick people off to interview them. And then they started having people at podiums and there would be throughout the convention center. Now there's just one haul and I'm like looking and there's 8 podiums and prospects we're supposed to be at them. But they pulled all the prospects this morning on the news of jailing Carter. So all the podiums that would have been filled with defensive line prospects get to set to work out tomorrow are all empty. Until the top of the hour when coaches and general managers return to them. So what do you expect in what's going to happen now today, rich, that how does this alter everything you mentioned, obviously, the players no longer on the podiums today, but will this take over the entire narrative of the combine today? You know, I think tomorrow for sure, Sue is tomorrow is when the on field drills start when Daniel Jeremiah and I started talking for an insane amount of time together. And so tomorrow when the defensive linemen are working out, we'll still focus obviously it'll all drill down on the kids who are out there working out and on screen, but look, I mean, Daniel Jeremiah's number one player on his draft board is jailing Carter. There are a ton of other evaluators, not just on the media, but inside draft rooms. And inside draft meetings who have jail and Carter number one on their draft board. And that young man is no longer number one on their draft board. And he has left here, and I was told, as a matter of fact, that he was getting set to take the podium. He was ten minutes away from his media availability when word came down out of Georgia that he was about to be charged with reckless driving and the charges with which he was served. And that's when the league and everybody running the combat in the league doesn't run the combine, the scouting community does pull Jalen Carter and I don't know why they would pull the rest of the defensive prospects. I guess they didn't want the kids being asked the question about Joe and the one I'm going to say, but they just decided to just yank them all and so that's the conversation today is the guy whose number one on so many people's draft boards was ten minutes from being at a podium before he got told and he's no longer obviously at the combine. He's got serious charges facing him back in Georgia and should he clear those, then obviously there will be a conversation about where he's drafted in the NFL Draft should he clear those charges between now and I guess what is a 56 days from now the NFL trap? We were talking just Charles Davis and I were just talking a few minutes ago. He was talking about Lyle Collins who, you know, TJ knows very well. He's a former cowboy now with the Bengals. He was falsely accused of a crime at the combine years ago. While he was here, it didn't work out, and then it didn't get drafted, then wound up signing with Dallas having a terrific career. To this date. So I don't know is the operative three words for Jalen Carter that will be a serious conversation tomorrow, one with a defensive lineman or out there and then obviously when the defensive lineman are done, we'll all turn our attention to it, but for the moment, the guy who's number one on so many people's draft boards is facing jail time and isn't here anymore. Let's move on to some other news from the draft and for sorry from the combine and from football all around rich and that is Aaron Rodgers breaking his silence after his days of darkness. He says that he is back into the light. We've got a sound bite to run for you and love to hear your thoughts on the other side of it. All right.

"Hello and welcome to the MM QB NFL podcast on Gary brayley. I'm Connor or Connor, this was a this is a weird week 5 and it's especially weird for us because we're taping on a Monday morning instead of in the just ungodly hours of Sunday Night this time. I know you and my less annoying at this hour or more annoying it does sound like would you rather me, would you rather me be the last thing that you see before you get to go to bed or the first thing that you have to see when you wake up 'cause I imagine neither is pleasant. You don't keep a framed picture of me next to your bed stand to look at as you doze off. Yeah, no, you're equally annoying right now. Which is really not annoying. I enjoy our time together. I do too. Yeah. Yeah, let's get into this thing. And we're gonna start with the Sunday Night game. That was the Bengals of the ravens, obviously, won an a Justin Tucker last minute kick. Look, I think these teams are very evenly matched. I thought the ravens were probably a tad better in this one if Lamar Jackson doesn't miss a throw or two. They might end up running away with it. And the Bengals are still working through some things. I think still trending up from a very low place for the offensive line, but really no T Higgins, except for handful of snaps in this one. And it showed. And they're, you know, their deep passing game is just essentially nonexistent at this point after being such a big part of their offense a year ago. Yeah, so we'll start with the Bengals offensive line. I thought it was interesting when they tried to go for it on fourth down in their own goal line and Zack Taylor, I've never seen a coach. I mean, Chris collinsworth had surmised that Lyle Collins was supposed to do something differently. On that play. But Zach Taylor is making sort of a theatrical gesture here in chasing him up and down the sidelines to let him know that he was supposed to do something different. And it's both an interesting, it's an interesting look, right at where you are as a coach with your offensive line at that moment that you're not just going to let the position co channel this anymore and that you're so frustrated with these errors at this point that you're literally chasing because players, I would say this, the common psychological refrain right now is like players already know that they've messed up. So you don't need to go and tell them that they've messed up. Zack Taylor was like, this was bad enough that I need to chase you 40 yards down the sideline and let you know that you messed up. And so that might just be a display of frustration in terms of, hey, this is where I'm at with my offensive line right now. It was a low moment. I mean, I get where Zack Taylor was coming from here. It's a low moment in a frustrating season in a huge game. And yeah, you know, it's week 5, no one's winning or losing the Super Bowl based on what happened in week 5 here, but man, this was, this was a big moment and to have a very basic execution error at that point was unfortunate, especially, man, they did it. The ravens snuffed out the Philly special, or the Cincinnati special, or whatever you want to say it. That was the worst outcome for a Philly special inspired play I have ever seen. So I have a couple of questions about this. First off, do you think that every team calls it the Philly special now? Probably, right? So it's in the bank like when this is how calling plays works, right? Like Zack Taylor opens up his Xbox and he searches for plays and then he just hits like the Y button and that's what Joe burrow runs. That's basically how this works, yeah, yeah. Yeah. So he looks up Philly special. But in a lot of ways, it's like, okay, what happens now, right? It's the death of the Philly special. Once it's been snuffed out that aggressively and stomped out, are you ever allowed to is a team ever allowed to run it again? Do you have to wait 5 years? What's the rule? That was it. I mean, that was the tipping point. It's got to go, it's like when the wildcats stopped working. And people still sprinkled it in. It's not exactly like that. It's not like that at all. I don't know where I'm going with this comparison. But you know, the wildcat kind of went away as anything, but like a once or twice a game type of a package that teams use as opposed to using it quite frequently back in the Ronnie Brown days in Miami. But yeah, that could be it. I mean, it didn't work as designed in the Giants win. We'll get to that in a little bit, but it still resulted in a touchdown. It was still obviously you had the desired outcome, but this was Tyler Boyd took like a 14 yard loss on that from the goal line, which is as bad as it gets. It's one of those things that goes back to, I think coaching is one of the most complex and basic at the same time professions in the world. Like where there would be stuff that we would be absolutely amazed by that like, oh my God, they take this into consideration and wow, what level of work and that's incredible. And then there's the stuff that's like, okay, this has been the only trick play that everybody's used now for the last four years. We can come up with a new trick play. There's plenty of options out there. I'm sure that the eagles got that from someone who got that from someone who stole it from Clemson who stole it from north Arlington Christian high school in Texas and you could do that again. We could all we could all find a new trick play. And that's good. I'm ready for a new trick play. Yeah, I am too. Can't wait to see what's next. Save it for the Super Bowl though. Whoever's got the next good one. Yeah, whenever you make the Super Bowl next, that's when you shouldn't roll it out to them, I'll remember it like a Philly special. But yeah, I don't know. I don't have a, I don't have a ton to dive into with either of these teams. I think they're just both good teams. I think they're on that second tier, you know, in the AFC, it's buffalo, and then as everyone else right now, maybe the chiefs are somewhere in between the everyone else and buffalo, but yeah, both those teams are right there, offensive line has to continue to trend up for the Bengals, which again, I do think it's getting better. It's just, it's still bad. And they obviously they need a healthy tea Higgins because things are just not the same with Mike Thomas as a sort of complimentary deep threat there. He had some nice yak in this game though. He did some good yank. He did have a good yak. 33 yards of yak, I believe. Yeah. So I'll put this to you. This is sort of my, this is sort of Zach Taylor's cliff Kingsbury moment, right? And but it's the reverse, right? So I remember with the combine last year clip was like, yeah. In so many words, I need to do a way better job of like when one of our rod receivers goes down like the whole offense doesn't just explode. If your Zack Taylor, that wasn't even your Deandre Hopkins, like it's tea Higgins, who's very good, but you have three of those guys. And you've hated her. Like you have talented bodies, and there are other teams that are kind of outpacing you right now with like Baltimore. Like with Devin duvernay and Isaiah likely, as Mark Andrews, you know? And I think you could tea Higgins to me is not an excuse. Ja'Marr chase, okay, I get that. That's fine. But I don't know.

"Three big moves to help out their offensive line, they added offensive tackle. Collins, it was a move that we were waiting on and he visited and was he going to sign? Was he not going to sign? He ended up signing. He was a Dallas for the last 7 years. He is 29 years old in July. He's a stud. He's the best tackle that has played in Cincinnati in quite a while. At least we don't know if he's going to be right tackler left tackle. They do already have a tackle Jonah Williams. Who was drafted in 2019? They also signed two stud guards. They gave former patriot Ted Keras a three year $18 million deal. He's also 29 years old. Lyle Collins will be 29 in July, take care of his 29. And then earlier in free agency, they signed Alex Kappa to a four year $40 million deal. He was in Tampa with Tom Brady and he's 27 years old. So what I really, really, really love about this is that Cincinnati is spending money and kind of dealing with their biggest problem on their football team head on. Directly investing heavily in their young quarterback and the offensive line to support Joe burrow, their young guy. And they're not screwing around. Joe burrow is the most sacked quarterback in the NFL last year and still somehow found a way to lead his team to a Super Bowl. So I just, oh man, you know that I was really critical of Cincinnati when Jill borough went there and I was very worried they were not going to support him and it's been proven that it's totally wrong and I think that's been really double down on by Cincinnati saying like not only are we going to draft good people around Joe burrow. We're also going to develop we're going to invest heavily and spend a lot of money on our offensive line to protect our young quarterback. And I'm so happy and grateful and thankful to see that because you guys know I love Joe burrow. When Tom Brady retired, I was literally like, well, I guess Joe burrow is my favorite quarterback in the NFL now. Tom Brady stayed in the NFL apparently, but I still nonetheless, it doesn't take away my love of Joe burrow any at all. So I'm just really, really happy to see Cincinnati spending money on something that they very, very much needed to do this off season. They could do literally nothing else the rest of the off season and I'll be like, well, it's been an amazing off season for Cincinnati. They drafted a signed a bunch of offensive linemen and are helping Joe burrow, so let alone the draft and what they do there. So I'm just really, really thankful and happy to see Cincinnati making moves that I approve of. I think you're awesome. And I think the entire league looks at and goes, yep, they needed offensive linemen and they sure got them. Okay, we have two rams related stories..

"And upgraded that spot opposite from Deandre Hopkins who lines up inside a lot there. And go from there. But yeah, they didn't. Yeah, no, my favorite thing about this show is forcing you, like I've learned like you talk about like a subterfuge campaign. Like I've been, I've been trying to just like force you slowly into awful takes, you know. And by the end of this, you're just gonna be defending, you're gonna be defending like Jason Garrett as an offensive mind. You're gonna be like, he had some good ideas, you know? I mean, I have so many bad takes just on the surface. I appreciate that you're digging a little bit deeper here. Yeah, you know, this podcast is fun. I enjoy spending a lot of time with you, but I think that there's also some 3D chest to be played here. So we'll wrap it up with some offensive line talk. I was kind of hoping and I'm gonna check I'm gonna check the transaction wire one more time to make sure he didn't sign. I was hoping to run arms said it would be signed by the time we finished the show. It's ten 35 Eastern Time on Sunday Night. And no, he's visiting the dolphins that seems like the most likely outcome here. Is he ends up in Miami where they obviously need him because they haven't had a left tackle since they traded Laramie tunsil for all those draft picks, which they then used on offensive lineman who didn't pan out. So yeah, taron arm said still up in the air here, but Lyle Collins lands with the Bengals the Bengals sort of rebuild basically center right guard right tackle this off season they'll have Ted Keras and then Alex Kappa and now Lyle Collins going center to right here. And yeah, it's a good signing. He's a guy who's been a little bit banged up in and out of the lineup, had a suspension last year. But, you know, if you're going to roll the dice on a guy and there were plenty of teams interested, this makes plenty of sense. Yeah, I think in Cincinnati, it's going to be interesting that once the offensive line is fixed, I think that the narrative then changes to Cincinnati needing to design something a little bit more efficiently too. And I was surprised. It blows my mind and I think I would love to see somebody kind of break this down and pair this out for me, but I still think the time to throw metrics that are available to us, right? I think are flawed, right? Because Jill burrow is like one of the fastest time to throw quarterbacks in the NFL. Boy, that doesn't feel right to me. It feels like he has, he doesn't have a lot of the lightning fast built in reads that a lot of other quarterbacks have. I could be wrong though..

"Shaq mason like if that makes sense. I actually think it's honestly a decent deal because I think white ultimately happened with Shaq mason is one they obviously felt like his play was a little bit on the decline and he was going to be his production was not going to match the contract years left on his contract. The second thing I think would happen was Shaq is in their system in particular. They see Michael on when he was a right guard. They feel like his long-term home is best suited as we know Shaq has been one of the best run blockers in the NFL for half a decade now. He pulls a lot, they combo with him a lot, and they feel like that's should be Michael on when for this team moving forward at right guard. So I would have loved that move. You trade Shaq mason, you get layout Collins, you need a right tackle that's not Trent Brown or just going kind of year to year with that right tackle position over the last couple of years. You solidify it, you get a bonafide stud in layout Collins. You put on when it was on that side with him at right guard, his natural position in your scheme. And I could explain that, right? I could justify that. The fact that they're not even in Lyle Collins is market anymore is really disappointing to me because yeah, it's easier said than done. In my opinion, to just say, oh, well, they'll find a guard in the 5th round and plug them in. I would have thought that if Dante scarnecchia was still here as the offensive line coach, I even would have thought that if Carmen Priscilla was still the offensive line coach, because he's the one that coached up on when and let's not forget that wasn't scar. Right, right? He's the one that coached up on Wendy. So I would have sat there and said, okay, yeah, they'll figure that out. If Matt Patricia's coaching the offensive line, are they going to be able to plug in a rookie 5th round pick at guard and stardom in week one? Yeah, so okay, so hang on. So here's the other half of that take, though. So, and again, this is where I'm going kind of Homer. And I don't know, this is more of a concept than my personal belief. But they clearly, they don't want to part with picks in this draft. They don't want to do it. They gave up Shaq mason just to get a pick. Is it possible and so they're not adding anybody whatever. Is it possible that they just have a really good read on this draft? They really love this class and they think, hey, we can get a starting caliber guard in the 5th round. We're not going to give up a fourth round pick for Leo Collins because we know we can get a starting caliber wide receiver linebacker corner in the fourth round. A guy whose cost control, the guy who's under contract, a guy who's young. Like, maybe this is maybe this is a little, you know, maybe I'm being overly optimistic here. But if you want that view of it, you know, how do I spin this to make it seem like the Patriots are on top of things..

"But yes, guard is not a tough position to find. You can find guys, the Patriots have done it over and over and over again, finding interior offensive linemen with mid round late round, undrafted, free agents, fell, maybe not at that level. He was at his best, obviously, but you can find a guy. You've lost caris and mason. I would imagine that on who will be one of those guys who fills a guard spot. I think they'll be able to find somebody, but the issue to me was the return. And I pretty much agree with everything you said a 5th round pick from mason seems low. And you start to look at these trades, you know, Gilmore, of course they had a lot less leverage with Gilmore, but Gilmore is a question. The handling of guys, toony, all of that stuff kind of comes back and bites you here, but I'm not going to freak out, you know, the league gear hasn't even started yet while we record this. They've got plenty of time to help the offensive line. What's next, though, do you think? I mean, I saw, you know, looking up front, Greg. I saw the name Lyle Collins. And there was a report yesterday I believe it was from Andrew Callaghan saying that the Patriots had at least to dug into the idea of Collins from the cowboys, Collins is looking to leave Dallas. Is that an option? Does that make sense to you, bringing Collins in? And then maybe making some more moves up front. Yeah, it's interesting. And I think I saw CBS had a report along those same lines today. So maybe there's some fire where there's smoke. I have not heard that. You know, it's possible Dallas is looking to move him. So let's just deal with the offensive line like present day right now. You know, if the Patriots had to line up tomorrow, a lot of it hinges on how they see a winning, he was very good.

"Have put themselves in the position where they can convince themselves to take a guard at 21 over crystal lava and I'm going to lose my freaking mind, right? Because they can take a guard on day two. They can put James farron's in a guard for all eye care. They will be better off. I know everybody wants to sit here and say that, oh, protection matters, all these things matter. The Patriots will figure it out in terms of protecting Mac Jones. I truly believe that. And we'll get to this next shoe to drop here in a second. There is a next shoe to drop. They're freeing up cats. Yeah. Do something, okay? And Andrew calendar, the Herald who broke the news that the Patriots were trading Shaq mason, tweeted out a little bit after he broke that news that the Patriots have also kicked around the idea of trading for cowboys right tackle layout Collins. Who is one of the best right tackles in football and is an absolute stud. He's a really good football player. The cowboys have cap issues as well. They're trying to get out of his contract. So there is, I think the best case scenario here for the offensive line now, I think the other issue that could potentially drop is as I tweeted out earlier, the Patriots are still very active in the wide receiver market. Basically the entire wide receiver market is waiting for Alan Robinson to make a decision. And it is. It is a little bit peculiar that the Patriots all of a sudden just traded their starting guard to free up 6 and a half $1 million in cap space when they're linked to all these wide receivers and free agencies. So maybe something could happen there. But let's start with Collins because that's the one solidified report that we have in terms of a name. And again, one of the best right tackles in football, somebody that the cowboys are looking to move on from or potentially release. So I don't think that you're going to have to trade a premium pick to get layout Collins. If the offensive line next year is win at tackle a guard from the draft, Andrews on wenu on the interior and then Lyle Collins at right tackle. That is a line that I can get behind. I think the Patriots would have a very good to above average offensive line with that group and would mitigate this thing a little bit of Shaq mason being dealt here. The return on Shaq mason is not good no matter which way you slice it, but if they can get layout Collins for a day three pick from the cowboys, then it obviously makes things feel a little bit better. I guess, and then that does because he's under contract multiple years, right?.

"People have argued that the nfl has too much authority that the nfl overstepped its boundaries to the nfl. Punish these people and players for no reason however those are the rules as the players and the nfl pa have fought for an arbitrated for and so that those are their purple pants so to speak. I just i agree with you. One hundred percent. I have that very same question. Why did he miss these tests. Why were there a number of testaments. I also have the question. Why is he being tested so many times especially after passing a billion different tests. That's i. I have two different questions in that sense. I think it's just a random thing. And i'm not. I know if you get if you pop one time. Maybe you're on in the program where they test you multiple times. I just know that once. You're once that happens. Then you go onto the protocol being more scrutinized when it comes to testing maybe i don't know maybe that's the case i don't know i can't. I don't have that the answer that question. I'm just going on my experience in drug testing national football league. If you don't show up dude you're you're subject to positive tests and you know that. And that's that's pretty irresponsible on your part and look you mentioned the nfl quirky rules and everything but the nfl is not the conventional corporate. America can we. We can you and i can agree on that. Obviously that things are totally different. Okay right they are more. They've they've got rules like purple pants. Lot- lots of people that don't have purple pants. The nfl has a lot of purple pencils. To your point about the. That's that's a good way to put it so but now looking down the road. I'm looking at this game versus the chargers you mentioned. Now they're having a talk about slinging. Zack martin out already. It's the second game this season. Right and lyle collins. Could it did the right thing. Or the the responsible thing as an employee the dallas cowboys football club in this limit. We wouldn't be addressing this right now. And i put on top of that. What happens from last year. Would whatever this kind of a strange sang happen. We're all he was out for the whole season In the cowboys pay a lot of money going into last year. Season greg farmer into twenty nineteen. But you're right twenty nine been long ago okay. Its very infancy. And in that contract. He he was asked about missing last year while at camp and everything and he said it was terrible. It was awful not being able to help your team etc and so it's hard to hear that in any case and then the player be missing time for something like this as even as as much mystery as there is here i guess my point is i totally get anyone notch issue that is upset with lyell south the situation but something else said in different places is the nfl as purple pants as they. They're not just making this up right. It's not just we we're gonna go at lyon are recently. So that's what i think. I mean so the clear. Clearly there is something you know purple pansy going on here. But that's not the right way. There's something weird happening to where the nfl game suspension was necessary. It's just it's weird like why. Why do i do it the day after week. One like why if he was worthy of a five game suspension. Why was that suspension. Not something that should have began entering week one But you know it is what it is randy gregory. We haven't really touched on this Did enter the covert or is on the cova lists now. He tested positive. Just zack martin. He is vaccinated martin however he is a symptomatic. The rules tony Dictate for players. Where this is the case positive. There's some symptomatic. He has to test negative twice twenty four hours apart so there is still plenty of time before the cowboys. visit the chargers. So it's a little bit less touching garden. zack martin. As far as whether or not he'll miss this game. This may be really extreme by any on that trying to this kind of not emphasized cobra because it is very serious over the weekend and my wife got sick and we thought she. She had all the symptoms of cold when they test shoes. Negative twice. so. I'm not trying to buy any by any means destroyed and under under a i would say The how important it is to get tested and everything. My point is where i'm going with. This is that in a national football league. Wouldn't have athletes in. It's so so. Cohesive your your sledding around each other all the time if everyone's vaccinated and our a center matic in maybe this is mentioned. This is probably strain in. there's no symptoms. I don't know why they're not given an opportunity to play. Consider the ones backstabbing or under this vacuum roles. It maybe that's not. That's not really realistic. Take on that. But now it's gonna be it's gonna be allowed this happening and and i understand if you're not vaccinated. It'd be more profound that you're going to have to spend the pla not suspended. But he's not gonna be able to play. Obviously and i think now it's just you're still granted randy gregory who is starting player has been vaccinated now and a the matic. He's not gonna be able to play. Not maybe not going to be. He's gotta do you know negative tests in twenty four hour timeframe and so to me. I think that it's going to be interesting. What happens because it's such a detrimental to your pain because he is a very big factor on your defense so Jerry jones is as we're wrapping up. Here he's on the radio right now. his his standard weekly appearance. Weekly appearances was on a five three the fan and he mentioned that randy gregory doesn't have any symptoms and that they're very no pun intended terrible time positive about his status moving forward. So that's good Last thing tony is. Jones was asked about lyle collins missing this game. Obviously i five in who was going to start at right. Tackle and jerry jones had an answer. It is tarrant steel. It's going to start tackle. Well in iraq tackles obviously not as bad i. It's not it's easier to replace as your blindside guy. So i had no problem with that. He's he's been a bible backup he is. I think he'll eat. You can get the job done again. There's some he's got one of the best pass routes football league joey balsa. I'm of joel. You know all over the the line of scrimmage but I think he'll be he'll be a very good Fill in for. Lyle collins gets an opportunity to run the football. 'cause i got jag mark back. We don't know that he's the the the coggan offense align. So maybe it'll be something they can do to offset that the slum down i i mean i don't wanna be like cowboys suck can't do anything right. But why did they signed sick. You then you know what. I mean if they just i mean that was the plan i mean have still do him. I do want to say one last thing. And i'll i'll write about these these things to the boys but Jerry was was just asked as we're talking to tony about greg's our line so yesterday on monday the cowboys brought back of the rim harrell who. I always mispronounce his name. I'm so sorry but it's difficult a perfect thank you..

Zack martin comes back yesterday from the covert nineteen list so he should be in good shape to play this week. Of course lyle collins out with the suspension so down a man over there at right tackle but martin will be a big help for them as he comes back off. The covert lists didn't play obviously last thursday night and so just sort of taking that into account with the cowboys on the brain and looking at week one in its totality. So i'm gonna do a little. Tell me i'm wrong here. I wanna see if anyone disagrees with this because you know we live in a world now. Where thursday night feels like so long ago it kind of hard to remember that it was a part of week want but if i were to make the following statement you tell me if you disagree with me of all of the players who played in the national football league in week one the best was that prescott and i say that most people think that i hate the cowboys which i don't. I'm certainly the dominique. I'm not like a member of his family or a member of the band. But i'm just watching and and calling it like i see marcus spears. If i said the best player in the national football league week one of this season all things considered was dak prescott. Would you tell me i'm wrong. All things considered i would tell you. You're right Because of the circumstances that went through and being away from the game so long. And also i take into account that he played the tampa bay buccaneers defense as well. And put Zack Martin out there at right tackle if Lyle Collins indeed has to miss the next five games, But then when you look at the Dallas Cowboys schedule, feel like the football guys did him a solid because it feels like it's a soft place to land when it comes to trying to manage the absence of Lyle College. They don't have a playoff team on their schedule over the next five. Then they'll have the bye week. And it can kind of get Lyle Collins reintegrated into that offense coming out of week seven. So I mean, it just feels like this is a situation that's not ideal for the Cowboys, but one that there's certainly equipped to be able to overcome. Yeah, and all it doesn't shrink the margin for area of more because you're right. Kicking Zakout to right tackle is 100% the right thing to do here Because you saw last night that interior was able to hold up against one of the best defensive fronts in football, Zack for my money. I mean, hell, he played left tackle in college, Notre Dame. The guy knows how to operate out there and has done it recently. But what it does is again shrink the margin of error for depth here, and this is why you saw them chucking it all over the yard. Chris and why we know that can't be the only way they do business. That's what balance is, is being able to have to operate different ways when the game plan dictates that such But the reason you saw things like the air raid things like spread offenses invented in general, it was to overcome offensive lines that weren't up to the challenge. And so if this group gets being dinged up at all anymore, we're going to see more of what we saw last night, and we're going to see all the stress fall on the ankle shoulder and really the entire body of that Prescott going the course of the season. Yeah, you have to wonder at what point does it become too much to overcome Right? Like we saw last night they were able to deal with the absence of Zack Martin. But I mean, is liable. Collins being out for an extended period. Is that something that's going to compromise the strength of this team the identity of this team, which is the offensive side of the ball into your point. When it comes to the offense. I mean, offensive lineman or a lot better going forward than they are going backwards. So you do want to try to find that balance with this team last night. Just so happened to be a matchup opportunity for those three receivers that they could exploit early in the down and get some easy wins and Dak Prescott was able to put it on them. They're going to face some opponents. Where the secondary's aren't as porous as the one that we saw the Bucks march out there with last night. So when that happens are they going to be able to still be effective in the passing game and produced at the level that it's going to take in order for this offense to continue to put up a lot of points? So that's the question that remains to be seen. But based on the opponents that they have on the schedule, I feel like the Dallas Cowboys have enough to be able to overcome this loss. Yep, absolutely. I think the line they're going to try out there is just as good as the one they'll have tonight. If we slide it the way that you described there was Zach at right tackle, And so from here on out, it becomes the smoke and mirrors game of all this because again Anything else from here on out, and we know the seasons a war of attrition. I mean, hell, we've already seen the Baltimore Ravens losing that badly. And I heard Bart Scott talking earlier today. I'm Barton Han. That comes for everyone. Over the course of a long season. You're going to have to weather a storm like that. It's just how early and how severe does it end up being? Can you avoid it? Being a game breaking piece like the quarterback? Can you have it Be all right for the Baltimore Ravens? Yes, It is terrible for those guys. But It's in a position where I think you're most able to absorb some of this loss. Dallas has taken one big punch early here. They cannot afford another Chris. I think that's where we're at with them. No question about it, but I think there's something that we all can agree on. Nobody needs to see more of Terrence Steele. Do? Am I right with that one? Yes, Nobody needs to see more of that. That guy was a turnstile last year for the Dallas Cowboys. I mean, I felt bad for Andy Dalton, Ben DeNucci and Gary Gilbert and whoever else they were marching out there at quarterback because that guy couldn't block anybody so as long as they can avoid forcing him in action again. I think this Dallas Cowboys offensive line will be okay. And I think the offense will continue to go business as usual. Business as usual, hopefully for the Dallas Cowboys, who now have to absorb the loss of right tackle. Well, Collins again reported five game suspension. We are brought to you by Goodyear making the plays that move you forward Goodyear more driven coming up next, though. Na Na na. Wait till I get my money right is something that I'm pretty sure, Chris Farley said on college GameDay. At some point, we'll check in with him next on ESPN radio..

"It was Antoine Winfield Jr. Who pushed him out of bounds, but not before Elliot. Busted off 12 13 yard run, matching his yardage the entire game. Cowboys back on the line quickly empty backfield shotgun snap belt tie Prescott looking to his left behind his big target. The tight end Blake German across the middle Darwin gets blasted immediately. By Lavonte David. The veteran out of Nebraska. Good job, though, by the Cowboys getting up on the line of scrimmage, the first down there moving the change. They run up there. They snap the ball and the bucks are forced to play whatever vanilla defense they have as an automatic. When that happens, Tony Pollard in the backfield. Mari Cooper, motioning left to right here is you Get to Pollard left side. Not much. It'll be close to the first down based on the spot Lavonte David again in there on the tackle, and they'll move to change. So cowboys changing it up a little bit. That's the first time all night we've seen back to back rushing into runs in a row. That's right now. I'd like to see him change it back up. Can go after the big number 35 for the Buck's got him in the middle. Now on the slot. Yeah. Shotgun snap. Here's it passed it. Dalton Schultz just muscling his way shaking off multiple defenders. Finally jpp there to hold him down. But Schultz Just went Paul Bunyan on him, knocking him off and enough to move the chain 10 yards on that pitch and catch Ezekiel Elliott checks back into the game too wide. Far side CD, Lamb, motioning left the right Cowboys and Tampa Bay territory here to give to Elliott jump cut back to his left and quickly wrapped up by Devin White. You can see why he led his team in tackles last year with 141 140 last year, and he's uh He's leading them again tonight with eight. Yeah. Make that nine on that night after that one. Yes, Bucks. Changes of personnel here trying to get some fresh bodies in. We've seen a couple players go out with cramps already. Amari Cooper splits out wide here to the near side. He is defended by Jamel Dean. He's been the defensive target for most of this game for Dak Prescott in the passing attack. Prescott, raising his hand raising his knee takes a shotgun snap. Four man Rush steps up throws Find CD Lamb, who was between the two defenders landfalls board looks like it will be about nine on the catch. Ross Conch role was there in the vicinity to push him down. Third and one Saw the safety way off on CD lamb and just audibled out there to a hitch CD lamb in front of five yard hits around and easy throwing, catching. Just have to say if the ball has been up about two, ft. Probably would have been the first now William Gholston checks in big defensive end 31 single back set is easy. On a bootleg Prescott rolls to his right fires The pass right in the waiting arms of Dalton Schultz, first down Dallas. Good job by Dalton Schultz feeling that coverage underneath him? And running his route accordingly and good play call third and short. There's there's nobody out there. No pressure on Prescott whatsoever lots of time to make his decision and First down Dallas What a season Dalton Schultz had with the injury in Game one to Blake Jar When 63 receptions all his numbers across the board, Obviously career highs, 1st and 10 shotgun snap with the pump. Fake pocket breaks down, Prescott breaks out of it. Stumbles and falls board near the 25 yard line. I'm not sure how he got out of that went Houdini on it because it looked like they had him wrapped up. But enough strength to pop out of it and dynamic and Sue and Shaq. Barrett were both In the vicinity and lurking and looking for another sack boy, Lyle Collins getting pushed back right into Prescott from our angle. He disappeared. You're right, Kevin. You just kind of popped out of nowhere. Schultz, motioning right to left, sets up as a blocker for Zeke Zeke, waiting for something to set up, drives his shoulder into the chest of the oncoming defender, Jamel Dean and make something out of nothing. Well, you can see why this run defense has been rated number one. Consecutive seasons under Todd Bowl. Yeah, they fly around. They got guys even their guys on the inside. They don't stop till the whistle blows. We're supposed to play defense. Another third down. Coming up here for the Cowboys. Big play Big play 6 12 on third down 34 from the Tampa Bay 21 formation near side Cedric Wilson motion back and forth. It takes his shotgun snap hangs in the pocket firing for the end zone. Coming to make the catch into the end zone for the Dallas touchdown is Amari Cooper makes it one of Ross Kakkar awarded throw from Dak Prescott. With the pressure. In his face well, I'm not sure what kind of coverage that was. Cockroach got stuck man to man with Cooper running the corn around. That's not a good place to be in. That's just he's got his back to Prescott Cockles, even running like he's limping a little bit, but got his back to Prescott. That's a no brainer for a quarterback. He throw that ball whether he's covered or not. The defensive back will never see it. And as it ends up, it's a perfect throw. Perfect catch. Perfect round touchdown Zuerlein on for the point after the snap the whole kick on its way It is up and it is good and we've got ourselves a three point game two point game. "That's my first question have have wars. The last boat have worn pants for the button. Hell, I had a suit on 10 times this year, Lord because TV maybe college football games on television, that radio So there you go. Yes, but you had the under if if, if Under was a 10. I would have had the other day. Some of my wife wide margin. I'm with you, Mike. What would it take Tonto? If you're another GM, right, well or if you're if you're a stereo In Houston. What would it take for you to say? Okay? Yeah. You can have two. Sean for that. Yeah, We talked about this before I get up in for greeny in all our other Jeff hands that are listening. I said it was Re ones to the Jets. Maybe a young, good player like Quentin Williams. And if I'm by the way, Joe Douglas, I don't let Nick material off the phone if I get to shine, watching 25 years old. Franchise quarterback with impeccable character, impeccable leadership. He's a top five player. You're changing the trajectory your franchise, maybe for the next 15 years. Now, all of a sudden, Roberts Allah and to Shawn Watson is the face of your franchise. It's an absolutely no brainer, guys. As much as you hate to lose a guy like Quinn Williams, you could go find those guys. To find someone like watching is so hard to do. It's unexpected opportunity. It's one that the Jets would try to take advantage of. If you're new grocery, or you've been fielding that phone call, Are you spending all your time trying to make sure you can keep the Shawn Watson Yeah, That's exactly where you what I said. Is. I go with myself. David, tell you to do head coach and say, Hey, what do we have to do to make this right? We'll do everything we can to take care of things on the field. What else do we need to sell for you off the field? To be sure that you're happy you're fulfilled and you could have a meaningful career here in Houston because again, we could sit here and say, Well, they could trade for the Jets and go draft. Jack Wilson or Justin feels or Mack Jones and those guys, they turn out to be okay. But they're not too sharp washing to Shawn wants and had a great year, with very average defense at best, probably below average. And a lot of skill players that got banged up. He made people around him better. He could make plays with his feet and nose at the quarterbacks that they could be looking at guys has to me. They're upside their ceiling isn't even close to Watson's. He's always won. Our favorite people talked about the NFL, ESPN NFL front office inside of Mike Tannenbaum, joining us you and Freddie and Fitz Simmons on ESPN Radio, the ESPN APP and Sirius XM Channel 80. Why have the Los Angeles Rams falling out of love with Jared Goff? I think when you look at him, you go back to the Miami Dolphin game. I thought early in the year painted the picture, which is where it gets noisy in a pocket. He really doesn't play very big credit. He just to me when you watch him. Pocket has to be clean for him to drive the ball. And that's just hard to do You guys like Drew Brees have made a career of showing elite pocket movement Gable, climb the pocket, have good eye level, get the ball downfield and drive it with good lower body. Jared Goff just doesn't do it. And I thought that was going to be a part of his game that was going to get better. And to me like that is the answer. Like when you pressure him, his eyes go down. It looks at the rush. Throws the ball ways he throws it. He's made some really poor decisions, and that's a part of this game that has knocked out better. Right. So how do you If you're less need, how difficult signing that contract Now, how would you go about moving that contract? Because we've also heard that they're very interested in Matthew Stafford. So what do you do? Yeah. Stafford, there makes a ton of sense. Um, what There's so many. I have upwards of 18 teams that could be looking for a quarterback. And in the right situation. Maybe he competes. Baby goes to a team like Chicago where he's a mark. Having Jared Goff is a market upgrade over Nick Foles and mixed Robiskie. Obviously, Detroit could be looking for a new quarterback. You're then you think about some of the teams are going to quarterbacks the next year, a team like Atlanta, Tampa Bay, New Orleans, So maybe another team will try to be opportunistic, much the way we saw. World, saying Jamis Winston this year, so we'll have plenty of opportunities to these young, talented. He was the number one pick just four years ago. But for God, he really needs to develop his lower body. Drive the ball and be able to make plays when the pocket isn't clean. I was saying goodbye. You're getting a lot of money to make a lot of the city for the Jacksonville Jaguars. You have four the top 45 picks in this upcoming NFL draft yet that the Shawn Watson guys out there are you trading the first pick in the draft that could get you travel Lawrence for a guy that's a known when it comes to Shawn Watson. Boy. That's a great question, I would say. Probably not. But for me, that's a little bit of a harder question than maybe for others. Just because look, I believe in trouble, Lawrence and his incredible ceiling. I've washed him for four years. He reminds me of a Like a cross between Vinny Test over tea and Andrew luck, his athleticism and underrated and I would give him the slight edge over watching because he's a little bit bigger. A little bit stronger, but we've seen to Shawn play great win playoff games like that's not hope. That's not a projection. So I'm looking at that. But at the end, I'm gonna go whichever Lawrence but boy, you could make it compelling arguments with shallots. What's going to be like her cell phone bills amongst general managers in the NFL will always backs possibly. Would you talk about 18 32 may be on the move. Yeah, it's gonna be remarkable. This is gonna be a historic offseason guys and again the reason for that. Look, you guys know the college game, but there's just not a lot of quarterbacks that it could be coming out the year after, you know. Maybe slaughters from USC, a handful of others, but we're gonna be looking at five or six in the first round this year and again. The reason I haven't at 18 guys is You gotta factor in teams like Dallas, because what happens if Dak Prescott says You know what? You prioritize Jalen Smith and Lyle Collins and Zeke Elliott before me, I got her. I bet on myself. So you know what? Mr Jones? This time, this tag one more time. And then I'm gonna be free so again when you factor in teams like Atlanta, New Orleans Again. The Dallas Cowboys. There's gonna be so many teams from a strategic planning standpoint, that said over the next two years, my best bet maybe pray lamps of North Dakota State or maybe tried to trade for again Jared off, So that's why the me there could be such historic turn over. And again, some of us will be took players or you know what happens if, and Roger's wakes up and says, You know what? I'm not gonna play anymore in Green Bay and I want to get back to the 40 Niners. Puts Garoppolo wouldn't play and all the dominoes will start falling from there. We are. We are football geek down, nerd it out. Watching the senior Bowl practice was good TV to it. It was unbelievable. You guys I hate to compliment you might. But you guys did a great job like vinegar on my palate To Fitzsimmons. A to it goes way back to draft coverage. So great season for james robinson. Let's go now to the biggest bust on from twenty twenty and again thank you guys for voting so we unveiled this on fantasy football today and five. It was ezekiel elliott. Getting seventy four percent of the votes clyde edwards helaire number two nineteen point. Eight percent todd gurley zero point three percent and lebanon bell zero point two percent so day. When you look at zeke and what he was able to do with dak prescott with the healthy offensive line versus what he did when everything fell apart around him. Is he going to be a bounce back candidate in two thousand twenty one somebody that you go right back to her first round pick. He's got the chance to be james. I mean we know that he's got a huge salary cap problem well. It's not a problem with him. he's going to get paid either way. The cowboys have a salary cap rome whether or not they want to pay. Zeki elliott really their choices. They're already locked into paying him. His twenty twenty one salary. Do they want a guarantee his twenty twenty two salary. They've got decide that between now and just after the start of the league new year and mid march but he was very productive with dak prescott over twenty one. Pr fantasy points per game in each of five starts with dak prescott. And i checked on the offensive line if you like the offensive line of tyron smith connor williams tyler dish. Zack martin lyle collins. They're all there to be. They've got six months to get ready for the start of the season for the dallas cowboys. And maybe they add more to it. Maybe it's depth. Maybe they replaced by dish at center. But there's there's definitely a chance that that offensive line will be backed fully stocked to begin the season. And that ezekiel elliott will still be there cowboys figuring that they can squeeze at least another couple of seasons out of him. Dak theoretically should be ready to go and if that's all there then there's really not a lot to hate about ezekiel elliott. You'd have to hope that that workload that we're used to seeing from him prior to em- falling off a cliff this year..

Dallas Cowboys make handful of roster moves, activate Brown from IR
"Tyron Smith is now gone for the year it was announced on Friday two days ago Mike. McCarthy confirmed the report from NFL networks. Mike Fellow and Jane Slater Day before Mike McCarthy confirmed the tarrant Smith will undergo season ending surgery next week the cowboys are hopeful that he'll be back in two thousand and twenty one the Dallas cowboys already down there other offensive tackle in Lyle Collins Who Unlike Tyran Smith did not play a down this season. Also, it's worth mentioning that Travis Frederick. Retired shortly after Mike McCarthy took over as head coach his replacement if you want to call them that in Joe Looney. A sprained MC l. he is scheduled or slated I should say to miss the next two to three weeks just depends how that's going to go tyler beyond the cowboys fourth round rookie out of Wisconsin. Same place they got Travis. Frederick. Of course, seemingly is a much more stable option than anybody that's going to replace tarrant Smith or Lyle Collins but I bring all of this up to say that when my McCarthy. Signed his contract to be the head coach of the Dallas cowboys he did. So with likely knowledge that at the very least tired smitten, Lyle Collins would be playing for his football team and quite possibly unless you knew at the time that Travis Frederick was going to retire the Travis. Frederick. would be playing as well. So he's now down sixty percent of the offensive line he thought that he. Would have their many defensive players that are out Joe McCoy. One of the teams biggest off season signings is gone because he got hurt on the first day of practice and so this this team and where they are a month into the season is very different than the one Mike McCarthy sat down implant. That's all I'm saying it is definitely true that you have to adjust in the NFL. That's life things happen injuries happen with stuff happens that sports that's life like I said and so Mike McCarthy ultimately has to be held responsible for that because he's the head coach that's the hat that he wears, but it is worth saying and that's why I said now let's talk about some of these injuries and some of the roster moves the Dallas cowboys made ahead of this game on. Saturday day before this that you and I are talking day before game. Day the. Dallas. Cowboys made a handful of roster adjustments. It had been rumored all week long that Anthony. Browne would be returning from injured reserve and remember that injured reserve operates differently due to cove nineteen protocols and now nfl players only have to be on injured reserve for three weeks before they are eligible to return Anthony Brown. Is Eligible to return. It was speculated all week long that he would rejoin the cowboys they are in massive need of help in their secondary. So they officially Anthony Brown bag he is the first player that the Dallas cowboys have brought back off of injured reserve so far this season other candidates for this potential obviously include Sean Lee late and vanish. We'll see about cam irving things like that. But Anthony Brown I one. So the cowboys activated Anthony Brown. He is now part of the fifty three man roster, of course. So is Francis Bernard a fan favourite linebacker, undrafted free agent linebacker out of Utah many people, Francis, Bernard in the training camp portion of the year. Obviously no preseason he is. Now on the fifty three man roster, the cowboys have needed massive help in the linebacker. Department So far this season
