"I'm like how we go like chris sales better than michael keaton. So first of all fuck you know. He's that way that michael. Keaton is not at the top and they all talk about. He might reprise his role as batman talking about like a yeah like an old one apparently on hbo. Max they're like green lighting that it may be a sequel series. After batman animated series end before batman beyond. I'm i'm i'm here for this so oh man. Waning are going to discuss Batman 'cause i was like really discuss my list. And he's like i think it's a solid list but it's like every so often like maybe the four or five or six or like a week gonna redo this. But no one is saying kevin conroy. Is it the number one batman. It's like no one said that too. 'cause you clearly know you know about this. I no batman questions. Like i tell everybody that was not necessarily a superhero because he got money like ironman now but he feels like the story is so good. I like how the joker villain like. There's louis seventeen billion different stories about how we gotta joker. I know joker movie was really good. See i still haven't watched it. Because i'm like it's scary kind of it's a little. Don't watch it at home alone in the dark. Like how are you doing. A joker move without batman. I'm like we meant well. It's it's an origin story. It's like it's interesting okay. Now that makes sense okay. Yeah but you know. I mean ledger whole situation will. He's clearly the best. Yeah he's like. Yeah we can take them all the different jokers to because the guy who plays luke skywalker. He was the voice of the animated joker out really. So what's his name mark. mark hamill. Yes he was the joker o. Okay a silver carry which is like a one way to look at it. Then there's the heath ledger. Joaquin phoenix like so as jack. Nicholson and the first one camel says the animated one Jim carey was the riddler l. He was a radler he wasn't the joker ridler was interested in like the. It's kinda like when they had like kristen bales and they try to do to face. And i was like yeah. They had the best makeup. Because for me. When i saw. And he's so beautiful. I think aaron eckhart on paying harvey dent. I think his makeup was the actual best because it reminded me of batman animated series. Let's go stand when it comes to batman. So i compared it but tommy lee jones is Like girl is stupid. But i question. Did they make up that origin story with harvey dent becoming to phase. So that was brilliant. I was i the one the one batman i like the one in animated where he had like two different personalities in that just shows the different personalities and i kinda did with aaron eckhart to tommy lee jones on the way it was like someone threw acid faces. A he crazy. I'm like yeah. It's like all of a sudden now. He got different personalities. Flipping a coin. I'm like see y'all rush this. Yeah jim carrey's ridler definitely make i. I dunno it's like it's so weird. Because i'm like your ridler is kinda good but the to face was like this is trash in his. So george clooney's bad batman and tommy lee jones was a bad villain..

I can't remember ralph. Ralph michael turbie has everything that's wrong with rows and he's like even worse i think so. Here's a comparison whose works michael darby or amber mark. Jim arcadi. who's jim. I have went remember so she was on the house. On new jersey seasons six with the twins so jam abhor my time. And the my first season of jersey. What's the retreat and show. Jersey is not jersey. Don't work with theresa. And i'm like how did we get here okay. They hard they. They had delayed production because she was still in jail me a housewife has done. They don't do that for nobody else. Was like damn dirt. Jersey really is she. Base of franchise redeeming quality. She's a trump. Voter have yeah. She loves her children over daughters. So much much loves her she doesn't love. Melissa gorka. no one can convince me she does. I think they've gone to a place in plan is like that was just like. How did we get here. Because i still remember that reunion before. She got there. Because dan found her on facebook of all places and then melissa was just very to danielle. Not realizing dame's gonna hold onto all this daniel like. Did you go to the birth of your nephew. And then melissa and kathy got on the season after. That's why theresa literally manhandled andy cohen. Guinan her face goes light. I've seen those clubs old so it was like most is like they had to get to a good place you lying..

I honestly thought she was going to come back. And i was like the only way league is not gonna come back because everybody liked her if she decided not to come back. I think it's something everyone. I think it should be required viewing. You know, when they cover this chapter in American history, God he needs his own section. But so he's saying that it's not valid because the request was never sent directly to President Trump himself S O. B suing. He says that the adviser was required to afford it to the president because he has the sole authority to issue pardons. And he also put in the suit that Trump is a supporter of Hiss, which I don't know if that's true or not, but it would not surprise me. Um, let's see just a reminder. He was convicted of two counts of murder for hire targeting care by asking. He was also convicted on eight counts of falsifying wildlife records and nine counts of violating the Endangered Species Act. And he's one year into his 22 year sentence. So Well, he thinks he should be part of it. Yeah, he's liking out. I don't know Trump's gonna pardon him. I think Trump's Trump's gonna pardon himself. I think some people Show restraint, but I'm not sure that he will know if I were the president. I was getting kicked out. I would write some sort of legislation and try and get a pass. It was like I warned against executive order. Like I do Whatever I want forever love me and I would sign. If he was a smart man. He'd Create a reality show before he leaves him in life. Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, CEO of Feeding America
"Hey everyone. This show might sound a bit different today because we're skimming from three different couches. This game is still working from home for the time being because of Kobe Ninety today, Clare, Babbit. No fonteneau joins us on skimmed from the couch. She is the CEO of feeding America. The nation's largest domestic hunger relief organization feeding America provides more than four billion meals to more than forty million people across the country Clare Thank you so much for joining us today. Welcome to skin from the couch what thank you so much for having me. We are. You've a fascinating stories. WE'RE GONNA get into it, but I gotta ask you what we ask all guests on the show skim, your resume for us. So I have a high school in my. To griped way Harrington graduate from high school. So everything I'm going to say a list of I. So I have an undergraduate degree I've that an limb in accession I'm a lawyer by training I worked in government in big for accounting in a major law firm or one that would be Walmart in northwest Arkansas and it's now Mike to be the CEO of feeding America as you just mentioned. something that we can't Google about you. that. Had My druthers by real fantasy would've been to sing background vocals for Luther Vandross. Do. You have a good voice. No. Not, really though my kids I think they seem like it but they not. So. We're GONNA talk about how you grew up and when we usually talk about people's professional story you know obviously, we're all shaped by how he grew up in our family dynamic and you know only children verses having siblings versus just different family structures, Daniela each have one sibling, and we talk a lot about that dynamic. You have more than one sibling and I would love for you. To to share a little bit worried about that. Boy Do I. Have More than one of laying. In fact unusually, ladies will use this to warm up audience what speech I'll ask them. To sue you have they never guessed one hundred and seven dams I. Say that one more time one, hundred and seven I thought it was a Typo as we were doing prep for this one, hundred seven. So your listeners will quickly say biology must not be the only thing involved fares. At birth adoption, Bostick theorem one of one hundred kids and I love that you early on asked that question because I do think it informs everything that matters about me was shaped by that fats. That is a lot of people and I cannot imagine saying that amount. If you bar blood in my family, let alone my siblings, I really want to understand. Like what that dynamic, wise and like your parents sound like extraordinary people that were able to give to so many individuals to really provide a home for so many children I mean literally just walk us through the very tactical how many people lived in the house like how many of your siblings names do you now? Okay I'm sure I, know all by siblings. Can and it's probably the reason that I remember he'll stories more than their names now because I used of all capacity. Sensitive, it's all that I've ever known. So my parents learned of two little kids neighboring town who were suffering for mcglasson abuse. My Dad was at work in bag. My mom was working from home and she got him in the Aren Ima. Ronald. So I'd never known anything this. It's through the ice of brands that I came to realize how bizarre was. So there were never more than sixteen Abbas several living at home at the same time but there were many times when there were six of us living at home at the same and what was something really unique about our family. Of course, the numbers are big but the other thing is that I love the way you talk about family because I. I've always had a sense of what it means to be family. That feel a little different than maybe some of the conventional thoughts around what it means to be family. So family for us in order mentally we were not biologically connected. So that's not what brother or sister in our household I had a lot more brothers and sisters I have a lot more. Than I have sisters. I was rough and tumble with my brothers and my sisters we engage the Lai in activities together. And often they were outside.

Lewis! Who are here to talk about this initiative on that they have put together to help black female entrepreneurs and to help fund their businesses, so thank you so much for coming on the podcast. Here. All right shanty, and Cassandra! Can you tell us a little bit about your background and how you came to work at the Pine Sol Company? So I'll get started. My name is Dante and I grew up in south Los Angeles. And what the only child of a single mothers and educator in Los Angeles. And I like to say the my story took me around the world and back I think the theme for me. Was that I developed a lawyer a love of learning Early on and also a love for pursuing what's novel in new so I'd have this sort of drive to try new things, so you know from Los. Angeles I ended up going to Stanford and going to harbor to try to. Drive my education to get to learn everything that anyone would teach me. And and ultimately found myself in corporate America. And I've. In Corporate America also sat sought out like really creative roles have done international assignments and feel really proud actually to work at an organization where we have brands like pine Sol, which are allowing to give back right to my my community so I'm really proud of the of how my journey's have led me to take all that education and apply it in a place. Where we're able to give back to the black, Yeah, I'll jump in, so I'm Cassandra. Lewis and like Sean Taylor I am from south, Los Angeles and raised. In, I grew up in what I call a pine Sol household. So, what exactly does that mean? It means on Saturday mornings at wake up. There'd be Anita Baker Luther Vandross on the speakers in my mom would be in the kitchen or the living room with the bucket of Pine Sol in rags for my sister night to get to cleaning so pine solves always been. A key part of my life, my foundation and brings back so many so many wonderful memories of that time with my mom and my sister. I grew up and became a marketer. And What Do Marketing Folks Love? They love brands and when the opportunity to work on Pines. One of my favorite brands presented itself. It was a little bit of a dream. Come true, so they always say like. If you find something that you like to do, then it's it's not work. So this is something that I really. Love to do I love to to work on this business. This brand and I love that it has a really. Close Tie in to to the African American community. Because I you know I really get to give back to my to my community in that way. I'm glad that you mentioned that. It has a TA close tie into the African. American community because black women in particularly or one of the fastest growing segments of entrepreneurs but yet they still struggle to get access to capital. What what can be done to help this group? Get the resources that they need to create and grow sustainable businesses. Speaking from from my experience as a a woman business I really can't stress the importance of mentor ship. In my personal life, professional life Shontae, who I'm on the the call with the podcast with has actually been my mentor at various points throughout my career and I run lots of things by her from how to present ideas that they get bought in the organization, and to who I should meet and get to know what types of projects I should be trying to work on when you think about entrepreneurship I, think the importance of mentorship. mentorship is is still very much. There a lot of waters that you're going to navigate that. You've not navigated before from trying to pitch your idea to investors to get that capital to working on a business plan to thinking about your inventory. When you're starting up so I say find someone who's who's done it before. Who can help show you? The ropes and really built build a relationship there to help you navigate those waters.

Weekend: Tarantino's Hollywood of 1969; Michael McDonald's voice; RIP NOLA legends and more
"Michael McDonald's voice is perhaps one of the most recognizable in pop music could be due to his hits with the Doobie brothers could also be related to the hip hop artist who sample his records but frame producer Jonathan Shift let has another theory aimed since the mid nineteen seventies MacDonald has performed background vocals on hundreds of recordings by other artists see if you recognize him in this bit from steely Dan movie talk to you hello. This is Michael McDonald. You know that was a kind of an elite group in L._A.. Area that I really always felt very proud to be a part of I got to single awesome pretty great singers Howard you James Ingram Luther Vandross Michael Jackson and I always kind of felt like that was a real feather in my cap to be able to step up to the Mike with those guys and it was also great way for me to get get in the studio in here stuff before it was actually released. It's Kinda like being a fly on the wall background singer back. That's how I got the job of student Davos up working at casuals with some of the guys who were actually playing rhythm section on records and <hes> and singing backgrounds for those guys selling. Another records that they were doing I did Kinda get used to hearing me sing with myself and I realized that there's something to that when the same singers Zinger sings all the parts. There's a certain psych sibling harmony. You're you're probably tighter with yourself in anyone else on the planet it's going to be you know which is what Donald and Walter did with me for the steely Dan track bad sneakers curse you suddenly realize that's kind of sound that you probably wouldn't get any other way but to use the same person singing all the parts and then doubling all the parts so that was really one of the first times I became keenly aware of that sound which some people bowl think of as the Michael McConnell background sound but then on subsequent records toward people were saying well. How did you get that sound? I could say well you know I I did all the parts of myself and double them go. Let's do that we can talk about all those recordings that you run for a long time but I just wanted to fast forward a little bit to some of the more recent collaborations that you've donald sure sounds like grizzly bear to me yeah very unique band grizzly. Grizzly bear <hes> and I I really came out of the blue they contacted me and I had not heard the van but they sent me a track and it just was so fresh and different end is seemingly abandoned was is really trying to exercise a certain kind of musicality Abner Amanda Schone Swim <hes> just did that record not that long ago seemingly <hes> House and Santa Barbara where they had kind of camped set up camp in Amanda her mom was Donna Summer and I met Amanda which is about ten years old is first time matter and all these years later singing on record twitter as my friend Steve Brunner Aka under a great experience. I have to give credit to Kenny loggins on that. One Kenny's <UNK> SON had heard Steve in an interview kind of mentioned myself and Kenny is a couple of his influences. His son you know was a big fan of thunder cat as was my daughter at the time and so his son contacted Kenny. Kennedy and dad you gotTa call this guy and maybe write something with them. You know so Kenny kind of reached out to Steve Steve got back to us and we all got together studio in Ojai California and listened to a bunch of music together together which was great fun and then we decided to write that tuned together <hes> something Steve had already started and so we added are two cents in <hes> Steve went and mixed in general question. What are you looking for? If anything in these kinds of collaborations I think just a chance to find something that strikes match for army and I I look in every direction for that.
