"Do it very easily. I closed out of the podcast. What happened what did i push. Stop record after. He pushed lifeguard. What does that mean. Yeah you have my hand on the kill switch here. Here's the next question for danny and rob. How would you be benevolent leader. If you were assigned leader of the free world probably would start off that way and then it would just end up. Yeah yeah oh. I had such good ideas like oh man bringing clean energy and and the next thing you know it's like everyone's on fire It's just it just wouldn't work out. I just don't see. I don't see me being able to keep it together. Yeah good this is. I thought i thought provoking question. Jen in few so says would rob and danny ever hang out together without tyson. I'm not sure why they'd want to. But just wondering long. Like george and elaine hanging out without jerry. It would be an interesting experiment. I think we should do that. I think we will start the go fund me right now to see if i can get you. Set up a lunch date somewhere. Ties will away. Okay you guys are settled. I'm going to walk over there if mold that our cameras. Yeah i'll be back. And then robin i would just eat a nice meal together. See keep the conversation flowing. I keep the conversation. Now we'd be able to keep the conversation going but rob's default is if he gets himself into trouble. Conversationally is podcast interviewer like the second. You guys don't have anything to talk about. Rob would be like so danny. Tell me what's going on with your life recently. You'd be like that's great. That's great but that's a great way to have a conversation asking about the other person tyson. Yeah but then danny would not want to reciprocate so he would be like good not much just doing it. And then he'd stop and then so did rob would have to jump in and be like and tell me about this hat. You're wearing my wife. Bought it for me. Thank you very much raw. This is rob's whole whole life. He's all about asking questions and moving conversation long. It would be a problem because his professional. That's what i'm saying. English speaking human. I could sit down. And have i think a pleasant conversation with them. Do you think that you would both enjoy that meeting or would you both wish it were over the not define that. I think danny is super interesting. I i would pick out. He's brain for a while. Yeah see then. I predicted perfectly. Yeah that would be fine. Would you danny family owns a house. Down the canyon from iran. And he's probably been there since you've known each other who have not okay. I've not been there because i to get there. I had to go through la And it's just not worth it to drive any of those roads to get And here's a fun fact. Do do end up there. I will invite rob rob and danny have never done this podcast without me present. Never never seen this actually play out ever tyson's a catalyst right so he gets things going. Flowing the interactions are electrifying. Yes but not necessarily essential. I mean yeah. We've never podcast without him. But i never know we never have never will never okay all right. Yes so yeah no problem. I could easily chill with right. Noah wants to know. I still want to know the real origin story of how tyson and bryson met. It's always been ambiguous. I used to think that they were childhood friends. Then i thought danny cycled professionally with tyson. And now. I don't think either of those answers are correct. Do you wanna field. I'll talk from my perspective k. When i was in my twenties early twenties. I was introduced to the skinny. Gangly large chested man large. Yeah he's a swimmers chess and you said van. Yeah yeah either time. Not a man man child at what did you did you view me as a man like when you met me where he like this no of course not you were contemporary and we were introduced at a bike race and says at that point. No i already i did i wore contacts ties was incredibly friendly and incredibly strong. He won the race and basically pulled me across the finish line. That's a combination. You don't always find incredibly friendly and strong in a person actually one other. He said he told me his story. He was living in europe. He was going to go back. Did i want to come live with him. And i said yes honestly up for the first time for the first time. I thought you'd already been there. And my story had but he invited me after just knowing him meeting a couple times and i was like sure i'll go meet up with you and if you thought meeting raw for dinner would be awkward. I showed up in switzerland after barely knowing tyson and lived with the guy so but that wasn't awkward was it was not at all. No there we live on a studio apartment together so we a bedroom. Yeah it wasn't awkward at all. Yeah it was hard living with tyson. Tyson skill level and bikes riding capabilities. Were through the roof. And i was just kind of like. I'm curious whether or not i could do this. And then i go ride with them. And i'd be like i don't wanna do. This is just too fast. I mean the only opera moment we had is when the neighbor girl showed up at our house unannounced and we weren't there so she showed herself in and folded all of our close but she mixed and matched him and put the dirty clothes with the clean clothes and it was very awkward when we awkward. Yes she was like. Hey you guys weren't here. And i would just stop them by to say. Hi so what i did was. I helped myself in and did your laundry. All of your stuff went through. All that was crazy. Yeah that's how we get people -vivor when they do that. Yeah for sure we will both have a myself. We're like oh thank you know. We have to go now and then you touch these bike. Shorts turned inside out. Yes i'd wash your hands out that this woman came in and then was handling your unmentionable. She was a contemporary. She was the same age as and yes we were. We both felt highly violated. Yes that did it. Was she trying to make a attempt at courtship. At either of you very possible it could end possible. But it. Also i think danny and i both friend zoned. Her hard enough that her only chance was to execute lottery to perfection and she did not at that point. We're both like now. Okay luke mcdonalds. We're coming up on saint patrick's day this month. Danny think of that holiday. I last year. I gave my opinion on saint patrick's day. I saw it as a harmless holiday because no gifts are exchange. Expectations are pretty low. Kelly do is die. River green drink to excess. Well that's it they patrick's day was really one of the first casualties of the lockdown. That i mean we're coming up on march. Twelfth is really the day that everything officially shut down. I mean like saint patrick's day was the first thing to go so four. Twelve twenty twenty was.

"And i think it's the most rewarding because that's you know that's when you actually creating a world actually doing quote unquote now. You know what i mean. 'cause you're actually literally doing that you're actually creating an environment to explore And that can be a lot of fun. It's a lot of work because you know you have to make a working layout that can work from all directions and all angles but at the same time. It's like i said it's the most rewarding i think. Yeah i would. I would definitely i would think so now. There was a a sequence this year or early in the year Where essentially we've visited the the robot clinton for lack of a better word i forget the race may be case. Might be the word. Was that something you were involved with it all in kind of designing all of that. I was actually yes. That's actually my world. The kalem the kalem sitting we had kayla direction. It was like i said a couple throwaway lines in the script but lot of our verb verbal direction from the effects. Supervisor luke mcdonald very gargantuan planet of just building. They weren't monolithic structures. And they wanted to make sure looks like the giants are built on top of an existing city. That was very important to them. Just for the story. And for the general look. They said they want little city like a ground level. You know like chicago or something. But with these massive monolithic structures essentially built on top of them. So that's something that we had. We had to do They said that also they really loved the visuals of like When you look in dubai you see the spires of the buildings above the cloud canopy. They said that they really have to look at that. And they said for an initial establishing approach they wanted to have the spires sticking above the clouds so they said as long as we did that we saw the spire sticking with clouds and the giant buildings. Top built on top of other buildings. Go nuts have fun with it. And so i actually i. Actually kit bashed that city in the day Believe it or not they ended and they ended up sticking with it Much closer than i thought they would. They Seth in particular loved the skyline they loved the silhouette of the buildings that i put in there And if you ever see the side by side on the secrets you'll notice that it's remarkably similar They really just did paint-overs. Just in kit bash. That i had done. So that's like one of those times where it's like it's best-case scenario and make some beautiful city and and there will ever use it actual practical you know applicable thing that they're able to have whereas sometimes you'd mentioned you go through multiple iterations all sorts of different art directive notes and things like that this one Thankfully kinda hit it park on the first version And they were thrilled and it didn't even take that much modeling really. I was able to kinda just build off existing assets pieces and flip around motors of you know mo- boats and.

"From NPR. W bur. I'm Tanya. Mostly it's here and now McDonald's faces a new racial discrimination lawsuit. 52 black former franchisees accuse the company of pushing them into less profitable locations and treating them unfairly an internal reviews. The news comes after the fast food giant pledged to recruit more diverse franchisees, even as the number of black operators has declined. Roben Farzad is host of public radio's full disclosure and he joins us now and Robin. The plane is argue that McDonald's didn't give them the same opportunities that other franchisees got. How so? Yeah, by the allegation is that McDonald's corporate steered black franchisees toward poor performing stores in more challenge neighborhoods, which I mean, if you put income aside there already more costly to operate in these lower income neighborhoods because of their higher security expenses and insurance expenses, so The plaintiffs are pegging the kind of the opportunity cost the missed opportunity at about 4 to 5 million per location on average, So it's not just a rounding error Interesting. The national black McDonald's Operators Association keeps track of the number of black franchisees and their data shows that it's declined over time. How has the company responded to these allegations? Luke McDonald is enormous. There north of 14,000 stores in the U. S. And its really had two over the past decade, Right size its relationship with franchisees. I remember somewhere very upset when it did the whole breakfast all day thing. It's pretty much a love hate relationship. Between the mothership in Illinois and the thousands and thousands of franchisees across the country. So the corporation here I mean, they're insisting that the total number of owners declined because of franchise e attrition. And consolidation, but that black owners is a fraction of about 2000 US restaurant owners that that's largely unchanged. There's also something else. Oh, McDonald's had a black CEO from 2012 to 2015. But black leaders have left since then to black executives even sued the company this year for racial discrimination. What did they allege? That is their systemic discrimination, a culture of discrimination even as McDonald's has its first black CEO, As you mentioned from 2012 2015. Other execs are alleging a purge of executives of color. Ah, hostile work environment, you can passively aggressively push people out by unfairly grading their locations and marking down their franchise. Value. So the complaint is pointing out that the number of McDonald's black operators actually hit high off 377 back in 1998. Now you have about half that. Do you think McDonald's franchise model? The model itself makes it harder to get ahead in the company. Overall, I think, barge, if you step from this, this is a brutal time for the restaurant industry overall and in a Corporation in the conglomerate is sweeping and as large as McDonald, the chances air going to favour franchisees that are already well capitalized. It already have locations that can bump out, for example, drive through capacity that could pivot pivot to uber eats. And under aspects in the time of disruption for the industry, So those I think the plaintiffs in this case that are alleging they've already had their hands tied behind one hand behind their back. It's just harder to innovate. It's harder to move up. It's harder to make a dent as a mega franchisees who then was looked at as somebody who might be promoted within the ranks that become a sea.

Inside were two more Chicago Police Officers Jason Van Dyke and Joseph Walsh. McDonald changed directions and weaved towards a Burger King parking lot about a block away. Walsh the driver of the second police car would later testify that he didn't want an armed man to enter the fast food chain late at night. So he pulled the police car diagonally into the parking lot entrance blocking McDonald's from going towards it. McDonald's walked in the middle of the road now heading towards a chain link fence. He was no longer running. At this point, McDonald was surrounded by patrol cars a few blocks away a third Chicago police car carrying two more officers approached. For over a year, the exact circumstances of what happened in those six seconds between Van Dyke getting out of the car and gunfire erupted was clouded in secrecy. At, least to the public. The initial police reports said that MacDonald had lunged at Van Dijk as if he were about to attack. But then a witness. Pulled over amidst the chaos of police cars, flashing lights was Jose Torres and his son Excavator Torres. They were headed to the emergency room that night because exhibitor had bad flu like symptoms. When Jose saw the police lates he pulls over. They had a front row seat for the whole thing. And what they said they saw was different from the police reports. And did you have is on McDonald of for several seconds before you've heard those gunshots and was your ever diverted from McDonald during that time period. and. did you ever see him make any threatening movements of before You heard the gunshots. According to Torres McDonald's had his hands down at his sides. He watched van. Dyke poll his gun out and McDonald's fell to the ground. What he saw horrified him. What did you see after he fell to the ground? Well, it was. Paul's. and. He wasn't even a little bit. By. Made Movement and in ten more. Coming at that okay and could you describe that movement? Seemed like if he was in pain. And we're there more shots fired while he was on the ground while he's upright and the ground. And could you? Get some sense of how many more. Set me. said. Why are they still should when he's on the ground? There was another problem. Before the gunfire and did there were five police cars on the scene? Even with some of the police vehicle dash cameras out of commission, the others were working the police cameras caught the entire incident on video. and. Those videos analyzed at length showed the Quan McDonald walking away. They didn't show him lunging at an officer with the Nice. The next day on the news as Liqun. McDonald's neighbor learned about the boy's death Jose Torres, was watching the news for what would be reported as well. Own Morning. The DEA I turn on the news owens seed. There was any news about the shooting and When I heard, he is the. Spokesperson say that Did he was lunging its long Dow's lodging at the lease and. And When I found that all he had was the night I I told my wife at Mo and I liked it. They're lying. This is this is not this is not what after Torres couldn't sleep. He wondered exactly what he and his son had witnessed. So where did you do next? well, I discussing why and Shoes. Or? Say, something in. It. This is just burden on my shoulders. It's.

"The voice of Gerry coke courtesy of NBC sports with a little highlight of the overnight leader Tommy Fleetwood goes to five under par made a couple of great birdies coming in leading Brendan Steele and welcome in Tom Spencer as we do every show almost almost every show when when Tom can make it good morning Tom how are you I'm great John yeah and this big day for fully what he's a player that's been on the rise for the last four five years in a victory today would would go a long way toward solidifying his status as a top ten player in the world yeah in in its attack of the Englishman and my big question of the day is there's Brendan Steele have any relatives in England to complete the foursome of Fleetwood Mac Luke Donald Luke Lee Westwood and then himself Brendan Steele it's it's really kind of interesting to see those those guys up there Fleetwood is a very top player in the world I think top twenty top twenty five we've known a lot about Luke Donald over the years and I will get to a couple of funny things about him Lee Westwood who's for the ultimate grinder and then Brendan Steele who have a good handle on it the first couple days but Fleetwood seems to be one of these players that really you know benefit from a win here in the U. S. and then and then jump forward yeah no doubt about it he's in on the on the cost of greatness for awhile and he's actually somebody that if you're gonna watch and study an individual John is on the two or when you stand excessively worried he's not a tall man he kind of got the look of a of a nineteen seventies a lead singer in a music group the I mean he's had the the long hair and and the the beard and and he just got kind of a sort of quiet and laid back demeanor to but but can he strike a ball and I think he's got a swing that those held up very very well under pressure last summer you might recall it that the open championship he's trying to to catch up with Shane Lowry in and then nobody hit the ball better for those four days at at the open championship and then flee what he just simply could not make a pot you might remember you made the running cap good in the U. S. open he could he shot sixty to the final round at Shinnecock coming down the stretch and he puts a below numbers in big tournaments Augusta one year he had a great final round to finish in the in the top eight or so so yeah he's one overseas won big tournaments in Europe and then and this is what you need to do to kind of you know in a sense I don't know if it's fair or not fair but to to validate a player's career resume you have to win in the United States on the PGA tour Colin Montgomerie of course famously was not able to do that west would you mention that he's done it twice but considering how great a player he's been now into his mid forty you think that would be a much higher number so and in the mean is a lot of reasons why you know when you try to play on both tours in Europe and the U. S. it makes life challenging but thankfully what is is certainly a player that still in his late twenties I think is twenty nine win today you could open up the floodgates because he he to me seems like a guy the next five years it could be not only contending in more majors but the winning maybe one or two we'll see and he's also got kind of the Arnold Palmer finish which is kind of unusual on a lot of shots he kind of kind of short stops it into the finish verses these long flowing swings a go over the back shoulder so you know in interesting character to watch so Luke Donald we haven't seen Luke on the leader board for quite awhile here's a difficult tight golf course water in play on sixteen holes he's a past winner of the Honda and he gets up on the first tee now on the T. Luke McDonald winner of the two thousand sixteen Honda classic so the guy get on now he gets the the the year the one wrong I don't know even what year he won but it was more like I don't know two thousand and and and the announcer called loop McDonald and I I didn't under I can reminisce with this get this guy because that the the Schwab Cup at Harding I I was announcing on the first tee and Markham here and I I think I Nelson with an end with a I think I said a score of and then I mention his age and I got it mixed up with the is two oh eight two oh eight total in his age and and that was a little bit of a chuckle but great to see Luke Donald back what it what a classy player right and that's a good way to sum it up he is like an artist on the golf course and I say that in this very complimentary way but I also think it's it's kind of interesting he's one of those guys eat twenty swings a club John every single swing looks exactly the same and that's a neat thing to have the discipline I guess you're the tempo the Spanish to your point about the a Fleetwood got a unique finish Donald's finish you know if you if you made a hundred swings and you any sort of isolated all hundred on they'd all look exactly alike I don't know if that's good or bad it you know he he strikes me as a guide to the years that has sort of one style of playing the game is very very effective of course in the moderns sort of depiction of golf's everyone starts with power in N. works their way backward you he starts the game of it from an acceleration standpoint you're putting and short game chipping and pitching and bunker play and then worked his way up towards the driver which you get in the longer clubs I would say the weaker he gets but but it doesn't stand out as much so I always like a player that can add live on on a course in the professional ranks you come up with sort of unusual swings to get out of trouble knocked down shots when appropriate X. cetera etcetera no not in not trying to be NIT pick on on Donald that is he's he's one of those guys that has a great style that that defective it is his emotions don't flow and this is a course actually were that suits him pretty well can you point out there's water on what fourteen fifteen sixteen these holes there's trouble everywhere and if you can keep your composure and he's a guy like Westwood number one in the world in the past kind of on the comeback trail mail will win at this stage of his career would be monumental in one way to do it is to keep that that sort of that that even keel approach and and even kill game through thick and thin today we'll see hold up for sure and sort of an epic Fred couples interview yesterday he's playing today in the last roof with Brett Quigley who I want to mention shortly that he's played in four events he's got a win but couples in his epic style they they said well how's the back doing and he goes well when I make a good swing it feels fine but when I when I kind of get caught up with the club behind me and I don't make a swing that's in the back hurts so you know the old deal he say don't don't do that but friends to back and well what a great win would be for Fred at this point of his career yeah I I think it would be you might remember last summer late summer he's up in Seattle is home town you've got a big lead on Sunday and he really had a tough final round and did not prevail and yet friends of course if anyone is following his career might remember the if he'd actually been talking about retirement since he was in like his late twenties like to heard her tell him it was always his way I'm just gonna retire and get away from the game he can't get away from the game and you can't get away from being a great player and if he's motivated and practicing apparently spent a lot of time on the putting green this week down in southern California get ready for this event it it not only can he went on the on the PGA tour champions which would be as you point out great story today and I think anyway now would be your potentially the last one in his career and a great exclamation point a hall of fame hall of fame career but with the masters looming and we're not gonna start foreshadowing you know winning the masters eight sixty but but he's shown that he can contend there through two or three rounds into his fifties mid fifties if he's motivated and playing well and practicing and feeling good he's capable of doing very very special things on the course so first things first and he would be really really cool and possibly even emotional if he were to prevail today so that he'll be nervous and you know it'll be fun to see if you can come out on top there in Tucson do you have any insights if you can play the masters this year yes I I don't think there's any doubt he'll be there and I think you'll play the next several years as long as long as he feels like he can get around the course and he still has the lanky eating shot still drives over three hundred yards and driving it incredibly straight at at at the same time so I do think he will play out for sure Augusta John no doubt well it just proves that the swings that are the the fluid lucid swings like he and Ernie els and and the late Payne Stewart that they're gonna hold up into those years you know can you see a I can't see a Jason day plane when he's sixty years old you know what the waste right you have to you have to really change it up so so really cool for for him and and I mention Brent quickly who's who's played four tournaments this is the fourth tournament now on the Champions Tour after turning fifty goes out and wins once and now he's got a two shot lead you know we've seen some other guys do that so that would be a great win for a brick quickly and and the and the quickly legacy of him his uncle Dana and I guess is dad I think and and for for David to one again but but Freddie's gonna be looming there today yeah out here quickly again we we say a lot on the show John a this is a sport that you can get better with age and Brett did not have a prolific PGA tour career as far as when he got in contention a lot would you not able to prevail but now he's won on the PGA tour champion and all at once this year and Morocco of all places and he said to maybe do it again the in in a span of a month so it does show you you turn in and plus you're doing some some broadcast work for fox so he's kept in the game he's got a good attitude attitude to me is everything if you're you know Fred this week about from a friend of courses entire career is let you know the good and the bad sort of Europe sort of slow and certain way or go with the flow type approaching quickly the same guy you got a positive attitude and you let negative moment sort of go away in rapid fashion you can you can persevere in for prevail it as a professional so it's a good lesson for examiners to try to do that as well yeah very cool Tom thanks so much for the shared information and is we produce on the air here we're gonna have a show next week and then about three off three weeks off they will come back April fifth and we'll talk masters week and then build up to the PGA championship here in San Francisco so thanks so much and we'll we'll we'll be in touch this week all right John look forward to it all right very cool there's Tom Spencer and yeah for sure check out the Champions Tour today and we'll talk a little bit about golf channel moving I'm not just talking about moving on the dial but their move and their location which is which is kind of a crazy thing but not a huge surprise when when we.
