"Deep into. When is the so. i guess. It's gonna steve over how they're going to the frozen four one would think that michigan would get there but i suppose it is within the realm of possibility that their season ends earlier and that luke hughes signs with jersey and is available for that game leaders late enough that now but that said i have not looked at the ncwa schedule and whether it has changed from what it normally is a non cova. Deers twenty twenty. Two frozen. Four is set for boston. The td garden april seventh to nine so there would be some regional play downs. Yes four and that michigan team. They're talking about it as a team for the yeah for sure. I mean the amount of talent on it. I mean we talked to thomas. Trans yesterday connects prospect jacob truscott. Who's on any other college team. Is you know. Probably set to step up and play more minutes this year and all that i mean he's just in a c- a first round. Nhl draft picks or potential draft felonies. Wrong shannon aldergrove. Tom wrong with school. starting up. the delta varian spreading and another variant in south africa is spreading quickly that is resistant to our current vaccines. We will not have an eighty two game. Nhl season this year. It's quite possible shane. It is quite possible. I can't i can't tell you tell he's wrong on that one Then there was this one from whereas it's kyle says now we're gonna read basketball fills i never gonna get to kyle skinny and non cal's basketball phil. Tell me i'm wrong. Ucla will beat lsu on saturday possible us. Ucla play last week so they have experienced. An experienced quarterback lsu had struggles at the beginning of the year last year as well got him at home. There is a chance of an upset tomorrow with lsu two years ago the defending Two years ago the national champion losing to ucla. It'd be a hell of a win for chip kelly former eagles coach and ucla. Kyle tell me i'm wrong. But the conduct search for a new. Dj may already be over as we have not heard from dj soda. In quite some time coincidence this will die. Like it won't die until work in some rostov. Tomorrow is isn't an audition tomorrow. "We'll see as we said like with cova. There are some great unknowns. Here all it takes an injury or two in the first half of the season and before you know it Guys are getting bumped up that depth chart so not ruling it out but if all things are equal everybody's healthy know my pat down earlier. I i he's in he's on the longlist for sure. I doubt he makes the final grade. This is jamal from north van. Is this tell me. I'm wrong being the nhl. We'll have a spotlight. Being the only major north american sport being represented in beijing and giving their shortcomings on dealings of social justice issues in the past we can fully expect the nhl to drop the ball with their stance or statement on the issues of genocide of the or muslims. In china yeah. I don't think jamal hockey will be the sports. And the group of athletes to take up that mantle. What i will say. 'cause we see at a lot in our inbox. Is that the discussion around a potential boycott of these games is real and i suspect it will get to a level where official will have to respond to it before. Canada sends a team and the other thing of course so much could happen in geopolitics between now and february with china and the west. Sure that's at the ceo level the federal government level. I don't see connor mcdavid stepping up here and rejecting when emmy he'll be one of the three that's named next friday. Yeah we ostby. Maybe mckinnon will be your yeah connor taking his jersey and handing it back saying i won't go because of these reasons they they're hockey players and maybe we should expect more out of them at the end of that either hockey players. They wanna play best on best tournament. And that's going to take place in beijing so i don't think you're going to hear much from the guys that are wrapping the team itself. I got one from jacob here. Yes i see it. Good one go now that the schedule is set. And we've spent enough time talking with the schedule. Yeah well it is scheduled. They're going with the original now. The schedule set march. Fifteenth at rogers arena will be a family reunion night for the hughes brothers with all three playing and luke hughes making his. "There wasn't anybody else. There. There. There was. There was nobody, um, for me to trying And and and amulet how hard that person worked. Or or just, you know, there was a standard of how you did things I didn't know. So I was paranoid beyond paranoid. So when I worked I always felt doesn't matter if I was ready to vomit after my workouts. I always felt like I didn't do enough because I was always thinking that someone was working harder than you didn't have that benchmark. And maybe that was good for you. It was It was by far the best thing. I really love it. I really do believe that I I believe that I pushed myself so hard. Probably too hard sometimes because I felt like there was always somebody someplace else working harder than me, and that made me nervous and uneasy and scared. So That's that's how I kind of got to where I needed to be because I was just so nervous and and scared because I didn't know You know what other guys were doing? Well, that's always a good life lesson than anything that you do. You've got to put in the work and you have to be passionate about it. Because if you are working and don't have the passion, you're going to hate it. And some people have the passion. They don't have the hard work. You've got to be able to put the two together and be able to succeed. Um let's let's shift gears here on the initiators on wdr 5 15 MSG. Uh, into Owen Power because there was a guy that has the passion has had the hard work and the talent, uh, grew up in Toronto and was was seen as the stud from a very young age. Um and he and the Sabres decided that the best development Course for him is to go back to University of Michigan this year. Last week we talked about it because there is a fellow out in Toronto, I believe is with the Toronto star is Dave. Fetch check? Um, Dad said it was an embarrassment. For the Buffalo Sabres to have the first overall pick, not play in the National Hockey League to go back to Michigan. Now we've had a chance to let that marinate. We discussed it on Friday. But that's been marinating all weekend long. And now your Monday and you want you want to still super irritated, So the floor is you do not feel the same way like I mean, there's everybody's trying to, you know, dog on the Sabres. Okay, The Sabres have been a great organization. They have insanely off the chart, passionate fans. They have played a brand of hockey in this city that is known for hard work and and and, uh, you know, they're going. It's been a few tough year. It's been a few tough. We went through a rebuild 66 plus years ago, and it didn't work. So guess what. The organization collectively. Said that we we made mistakes. We didn't do it right. But You know, now, instead of putting band AIDS on this thing, they're going to start from scratch. They're going to do it over and we're going to try and do it right this time, okay? On power can play in the National Hockey League. I truly believe that he showed that when he went to the world Championships, Okay, is that the best thing for own power? Right now is to play in this environment. I don't think it is. I think you have to realize own power was 18 years old. Last year, he played D one at Michigan and was a very solid defenseman. He was the best number one prospect in the NHL, but he was a solid player in N d one. I don't want him to be a solid player in D one and then jump. To the NHL. I want him to be a dominant player in D one, which I believe he will be doing that this year. He will take a step mentally physically emotionally understanding pressure because now Where the Sabres should be held, humiliated that own power has decided to go play at Michigan. Well, I guess that means that Matty been ears and Ken Johnson. And look Luke Hughes. This is number one. Number two. Number four and number five draft picks this year are all going back to Michigan. So those teams that drafted him They must be humiliated, humiliated too so or is this the right thing? For these players. For next year. So when you look at the draft, the Sabres obviously had the first overall pick and they did draft Um Owen power, and I'm just trying to go back to the list because Seattle drafted mapping out their nears in Seattle, and obviously, Seattle is Luke use went to New Jersey. But Seattle is looking to Get started. They I don't think Seattle's coming out of the gate like Vegas did. So This may not be the best time to say you're our first pick in history. Second overall, we're going to bring you in. Yeah, let's put you in a bad position. The Vegas Golden Knights did not bring Who is it? Cody Glass, I believe was their first ever selection six overall, six overall, didn't bring him in the first year didn't even bring him in the second year. So that's not the right environment for Maddie, Burn ears and Michigan is sitting here. Going to be number one, probably all season long in Division one hockey N C. Double A and are the favorite to win a national championship. That's the development. Of course and and wrote that they want for mad. Bernier's just like the Sabres, and it's just not just Owen Powers decision here. The Sabres decision with own Powers group is to have him go back. It's Luke uses decision with the New Jersey Devils for him to go back. Don't you think they would like to have Jack and Luke used in New Jersey this year as a tandem and and market this and sell it? No, it's better for Luke. To go back and the same thing for Ken Ken Johnson. So, um, I don't I think sometimes people and and we could be guilty of that as well. Just as if we just put something out for clicks, Right? Irritates me and, you know, listen, maybe I'm a sucker for click bait. Maybe this, you know, Dave Fest, Chuck or whatever. Is he got me. He hooked me. Uh, you know, hook line and sinker. You got me right in the in the corner of the mouth. Because it irritates me because, you know, you know. Listen, I mean, There's been struggles here in Buffalo. Okay, There's been struggles here in Buffalo, but there was also struggles in in. You know Chicago For many years, there was Long time of struggle in the Pittsburgh Penguins organization before they made the right choices and move the team in the right direction. There's been struggles and in Buffalo's no, like right now we're dealing with it, and we feel with it and we talk about this every day, and we talk about how poorly it's Been run or in certain times and the players and this that and the other I like the direction of what Kevyn Adams is doing. Okay? I like the direction Kevin Adams is a hockey guy. That's why I really enjoy is I've known him for a long time. He's a very, very smart guy. He's a great listener. He's going to make good decisions moving forward because he's been an environment where he's one He's been with those guys. Ron Brandon Moore, Iran, France, You know. He's been in rooms with guys that know how to win hockey games. Know how to compete, and Kevin Adams is going to build that..

"I'm not sure that this is still the same if you look at the big goal. Ufa contract of recent years it's bennington think grew bauer being a vezina trophy nominee. I wouldn't be surprised if that was in the area of what he was looking at. So six million dollar eighty. But i'm not saying that is what he's asking but i'm sure it's not far if it's off it's not far. I don't think colorado's willing to go there. But then the question becomes who's gonna play net for you. You know colorado took a gamble on on group. Our in the first place did too. So maybe there's another goalie they're prepared to gamble on. I don't know the answer to that. But that's that's where i think it was. I don't know exactly where it is all right by the way before we do anything else. I have two things i'd like to say. Shoot so i got sent a tweet. From the danny all-star twitter account big heat daddy. Yeah yeah so. Apparently a couple of days before. I reported that. Chris dreamer was going to get three times three point five in seattle. The big heat. Daddy danny all-star twitter account said drinker was getting three times three point five dent. Apparently the person who is running this account feels that i have slighted them by not credited so this is the credit. So were your source the whole time. Essentially it's not the source didn't follow that account but often it gets re tweeted into my timeline or sent into my time line. I guess he took a lot of pictures of myself looking to shovel during the playoffs. So there's the credit the other thing. I just wanna say jeff is. I cannot wait until next year when on the second day of the draft people have flights to catch ginger working day too. I felt bad that i couldn't contribute more because nothing was really breaking up. Those guys tony. Jackie e. j. jeff gordon sam. Of course brian lawton. Vive read man. They grinded challenge. Man day to listen. I listened sammy Unbiased and he's got. I can't see enough good things about causing tino and the work that he does what he puts into it and how much he means to our groove. That guy is golden fantastic for them concerned. And i'm not the minority. Here's outstanding and well done to everybody for the draft coverage this year i thought it was outstanding dougie hamilton. Any chance. he's going back to the carolina hurricanes. I just think there was a gap. From what i understand. Carolina's target area at least at the beginning for hamilton was tori krueg which is seven years. Forty five and a half million. So it's you know about six and a half right a little over. I don't think that's going to do it. And i think the one team we're all kind of looking at here is new jersey. Chicago is out of the picture. Philly is out of the picture. I don't think that's what seattle wants to do. I think they had some interest. I think some other teams like montreal. Toronto of asked around seeing if there's something that creative they can do. But if dougie hamilton wants eight times eight or alex portray angelo which is seven times eight eight or whatever that is exactly the one place i really looked at that stands out to me is new jersey and i think new jersey wants to make a splash i do. I'm watching that. Luke hughes reaction. Yeah that's worth something that franchise you'll larry brooks had a call on today in the new york post about a video. They sent out extolling the virtues of new jersey. You don't do that when you're looking to do a quiet weekend when you when you update your profile on tinder or you go onto match dot com and say..

"Tending or they go for a vote. They're going to come away. With an excellent prospect, and probably that prospect whoever they take will be the number one prospect in their pool. Which is not not not a bad thing, considering the Sabres Prospect pool right now. Developing into one of the better ones in the league. So how about Owen power? Is he? First of all? Is he your number one or if you got maybe veneers or somebody else up there? No powers is my number one. He was my number two way back in September. Uh, he never went lower than two, and he's been number one since about March, and a lot of that was based off of what he did with Michigan. As a freshman in college, and then he goes out and has a dominant if you want to call it that showing at the, uh, the the men's world championships there and love your playing with nothing with nothing but NHL players, and he's Basically looking like a pro and erotica lines played him 25 minutes a game in the gold medal game. I mean, that's Some pretty impressive stuff, But now he's my number one. But I would say mapping years is a close second behind them. Yeah, I'm curious. Like how much separation you have there and like, if the sabers I'm fine with them drafting power. He kind of he grew on me. You mentioned the world championships and I watched a lot of that, and I watched plenty of them at Michigan and was a little I guess I was a little more leery of them watching them at Michigan. Um, because you just don't see like the flash that you see with some of the other hot great skating defenseman. But for a man his size, he certainly our kid his size. I think he certainly does move really well, how much of a Catholic let's say the Sabres. Didn't for whatever reason, want to draft own power? One like Is it A Is it a glaring mistake? Or can you see the merit of going would say maybe Ba nears at one instead? The same as can't go wrong, really, Like I already said, no matter which position they lean towards, Yeah, they have needs. You know, they need help in the goaltending department that there's been on the on the right side of the defense and Power being a left. He doesn't help because I think that the prospect pool is pretty strong on the left side, if you want, even consider deleting, considering how young he is, uh, in that group, but no like the separation between power and everybody else is very thin. It wasn't like It's just that power had that. I guess you want to say that. Has always been heralded as a potential. Uh, you know a kid who could go first. Overall, we just didn't see enough of him in critical situations. You know, he didn't play at the World Junior tournament. He didn't play the Ivanhoe Lanka. He's only had really won major international tournament that he played out before the world championships. So in the best on best environment, you want to see some of these better kids play there, and we never got a chance to really see power in that, So because of that, you have to say that guys like math in years and forwards like Kent Johnson and William Ekland. These high High scoring wings that they have to be in the conversation as well. Then you have the other defenseman. Guys like Brent Clark was Variety and Luke. Huge, you know, couldn't use is Young and Jack use his younger brother. These are all phenomenal prospects. So I really can't say well would power had a phenomenal world championships, So I'm automatically going to make him out to be the better prospect in Luke Hughes. Or let's say, brand clock or any other. The other defense minutes. It's a very close Competition. We're involving these guys, but I just think, in the end the maturity that guys like powers have been years had that puts them up at the very top for me, with Echlin, a close third Before the draft takes place on Friday, July 23rd. The Sabres have a couple decisions to make see that this could alter what they do with the number one pick. What, whether they trade Jack Eichel and or Sam Reinhart. They could be looking at. Hey, we really need to kind of replenish in Help our depth at forward in the organization, So if it's not power, and they go that way, especially at center, what does that look like? Well, I I've had veneers mark to the Sabres for a while, Uh, And the reason why is I just think that the Sabres need to create this culture where they're they're a tough team to play against. They have to take on the persona. Of the Boston Bruins or Tampa Bay Lightning or New York Islanders, where if you could have come into our house, we're going to make you pay for it. And you want the opposition to feel the same way and the neighbors haven't been a tough team to play against for quite some time now. And I think when you draft a guy like this villain cousins in 2019 to me, that was the start. We're like, Okay, this kid is going to be, you know, ferocious on the park a great attitude. He's going to make it. He's going to be physical. We saw him. It really is a real young kid. Collins cousins play that way to season and even with a drafting guy like Jack Quinn last year top 10 pick he could be an effective two way players tough to play against. So Bernier's to me epitomizes that. You know the hard nosed 200 ft. Yes, he might not be. Let's say 85 or 90 Point player. But you look at Jonathan Caves or mark sightly, where they can contribute in all areas and also provided with that leadership. And when you have a guy like cousins and veneers on the same team that could be contagious, that type of work ethic and hard nosed style, So the other, the other forward their asses all that. I mean, they're more wingers, but they're incredibly skilled. Isaac William Echlin from Sweden. You know, the saber has been drafting out of Sweden like crazy the last four or five years. So you have to think they have a pretty big book on William Metal and the fact that he plays against men and he's not very big. It's about 5 11 a buck 70. He put up one of the highest scoring you under 18 seasons on the 19 seasons in that league, Ken Johnson Well in Michigan. I mean, this kid is a fantastic point produces. So in any there's other kids like Mason, Macavity and Coal Selinger. These kids are hard nosed, physical in your face type, so I really think that the safest can't do wrong. I no matter whom they take, unless they try to be cute and go way off the board and say, Well, we want to address right defense. So we took some kid that was ranked 40th. Alright, that might be a little Controversial, but I think I think that it seems to me, you know, they bring Don Granado back. He apparently was good with the kids. At the end of last season. We saw guys like the Lien and middle stat and Cousins, the impact players, especially not second half, so I think that you know if if the Sabres are looking for players like that, you just come in and and help. I guess if you want to call it was so called this rebuild. That they will find the player no matter that regards the position. They will find the player in that in that top, uh, 10 grouping that will make the fans happy and also make them a better team to play tough team to play against. Yeah, maybe Maybe they'll even end up pulling two of those guys into the boat. If they make these trades and and and you know, avail themselves of another high pick they could be looking at, you know, having the luxury of drafting own power, and and I don't know, maybe one of his Michigan teammates or the Sakhalin from Sweden like you say on him, Steve Echlin, specifically some of the scouting reports that I've seen on him. Of course, you know, list him as a left wing, but he is also was described as having potentially positional flexibility and being able to play some center. Do you agree with that? Do you think he could project as a center? Or do you think wing is where he should stay? He's just He's pretty good at the wing. And I don't like, you know, like they say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Uh, and he's been fantastic. He plays in the same line as Alexander holds, who was a top 10 pick of the Devils last year. And this kid drove possession. I mean, he's you're right. He acts like a center and I can see a team saying you know what? But the Sabres seems to have a couple of those guys. It was specifically middle stat. And cousins who could play wing..

"Know the hard nosed 200 Ft. Yeah, he might not be. Let's say 85 90 Point player, but you're looking at Jonathan caves or mark safely, where they can contribute in all areas and also provided with that leadership. And when you have a guy like cousins and veneers on the same team that could be contagious, that type of work ethic and hard nosed style, So the other, the other forwards their asses all that. I mean, they're more wingers, but they're incredibly skilled. Isaac William heckling from Sweden. You know, the saber has been drifting out of Sweden like crazy the last four or five years. So you have to think they have a pretty big book on William Metal and the fact that he played against men and he's not very big is about 5 11 a buck 70. He put up one of the highest scoring you under 18 seasons on the 19 seasons in that league, Ken Johnson well in Michigan. I mean, this kid is a fantastic point produces. But the Sabres seems to have a couple of those guys that were specifically middle stat. And cousins who could play wing. They could be the sniper. They could also be the playmaker. But you know, with Ekland with him, he's just He's a tough kid. He's an inside player. You don't see this 5 10. £170 European kids, but had that type of abrasiveness and aggressiveness beyond you know, the older skill that they have an open nice and William Echlin has that he'll home hope. Involved. This is the whistle. He shall have individual battles with opposing defensive during the game or give him a face wash. You know near the net, So I think he would also fit into that category of a tough to play against. Make the Sabres all the more excited. Few more minutes here with Steve Cornea knows the draft analyst is his Twitter handle. We can find him on Twitter going deep here on the 2021 NHL draft. The Sabres, of course, have the first overall pick by virtue of their lottery win. Um, a couple other guys Or maybe at least one other guy, Ken Johnson. His name came up there as we were sort of rounding out the forward group here. And what a team Michigan will have next year. Steve if if power goes back like he's talking, he will because Luke Hughes is coming in. Johnson and veneers are both expected to be back. You've got four guys that potentially will be top 10 draft picks in this draft all playing for Michigan next year. I mean, what a what a team that could be. Yeah, And they're upset because, remember because of cold, but they weren't allowed to participate in the frozen four tournament. So I think that might play into the rhetoric. We're getting from power where they want to go back. I think that team was designed and recruited built. How do we want to call it? To win a national championship and they have that opportunity taken away from them. I think that's why a lot of them go back as far as Johnson goes, and he's a phenomenal finesse player, this guy he's a little bit of a throwback to because he uses the slapshot when he's coming down the wing. I don't really see it all that often, but his stick handling As puff skills the way he's able to manipulate defenses and pull the goalie he got and how he does little across movie does the spin around is in the dangles in the curl and drag. I mean, this kid is a video game, you know on skates, ridiculous what he can do. And what I liked about him was now he neither he nor power were on team Canada for the World Junior team the under 20 team. Now how I think was at the plate. He declined that Michigan didn't let him go. But Johnson didn't make the team and I think that what he was there. And math, and here's a gun. He and that veneer started out as Michigan's fourth line. That's how deep this team was. And then within a matter of like a game or two, the coach realized Hey, we we got to play these guys more. And Johnson reading score amongst freshman in the nation. I think he was second, uh, appointed game guy. I mean dual threat. It could be a playmaker. Rent a sniper. Really? People kind of knocked me him that he's not fast enough where, but The way that this could dominate the puck in the offensive end. We see 90% of the games are played in one end or the other. It's not really played an open nice and so I think that his skating his average, which is fine. With him. You're getting the flashiness like I want to go see Ken Johnson play and I wouldn't be surprised If there was one player I would pick as entire draft class who would be close to 100 Point Player in the NHL. My money's on 10 Johnson. He's that dynamic of a playmaker. Well, how about goaltending we've seen. It's a little bit like running back in the NFL. Steve, I don't know how closely you follow the NFL. Like running back. Don't draft him in the first round. They're you know, they're replaceable. That sort of thing. Goalies has gotten a little bit like that in the NHL met like the idea of drafting them in the first round of drafting them. High in the first round was kind of I feel like getting getting frowned upon, but then spends her night a couple years ago Ask are off. Last year. And now this year, you've got as many as three guys that I've seen mocked into the first round led by Wallst at the Sweet, Um What do you think of the high end of the goaltending pool in this draft?.

"Overall general depth and maybe the lack of a real future superstar franchise carrying type, But no, you're gonna get Borderline star player at the very top of the strap. Whether you're picking 12345. I do like the top 10, maybe top 15. You see some Different listings and rankings based on the various services and the opinions. But no, I think that the state is whether they go for defense. They go for goaltending or they go for forward. They're going to come away. With an excellent prospect, and probably that prospect whoever they take will be the number one prospect in their pool. Which is not not not a bad thing, considering the Sabres process pool right now. As a freshman in college, and then he goes out and has a dominant if you want to call it that showing at the, uh, the the men's world championships there and love your playing with nothing. It was nothing but NHL players, and he's Basically looking like a pro and erotica lines played in 25 minutes a game in the gold medal game. I mean, that's Some pretty impressive stuff, But now he's my number one. But I would say map in years is a close second behind them. Yeah, I'm curious. Like how much separation you have there and like, if the sabers I'm fine with them drafting power. He kind of he grew on me. You mentioned the world championships and I watched a lot of that, and I watched plenty of them at Michigan and was a little I guess I was a little more leery of them watching them at Michigan because you just don't see like the flash that you see with some of the other hot great skating defenseman. But for a man his size, he certainly our kid his size. I think he certainly does move really well. How much of a Catholic Let's say the Sabres didn't for whatever reason, want to draft own power? One Like Is it A Is it a glaring mistake? Or can you see the merit of going would say maybe Ba nears at one instead? The same as can't go wrong, really, Like I already said, if they no matter which position they lean towards, Yeah, they have needs. You know, they need help in the goaltending department that there's been on the on the right side of the defense and Power being left. He doesn't help because I think that the prospect pool is pretty strong in the left side, if you want, even consider deleting, considering how young he is, uh, in that group, but no like the separation between power and everybody else is very thin. It wasn't like It's just that power had that. I guess you want to say that. He's always been heralded as a potential. Uh, you know a kid who could go first. Overall, we just didn't see enough of him in critical situations. You know, he didn't play at the World Junior tournament. He didn't play the Ivanhoe Lanka He's only had really won major international tournament that he played out before the world championships. Guys like Brent Clark was Variety and Luke Hughes, you know, couldn't use is Young and Jack use his younger brother. These are all phenomenal prospects. So I really can't say well hold power had a phenomenal world championship, so I'm automatically going to make him out to be the better prospect in Luke Hughes. Or let's say, brand clock or any other. The other defense. And you want the opposition to feel the same way and the Sabres haven't been a tough team to play against for quite some time now. And I think when you draft a guy like this Dylan cousins in 2019 to me, that was the start. We're like, Okay, this kid is going to be, you know, ferocious on the park, a great attitude. He's going to make it. He's going to be physical, and we saw him. It really is as real young kid Collins cousins play that way to season and even with a draft a guy like Jack Quinn last year. Top 10 pick. He could be an effective two way players have to play against So Bernier's to me epitomizes that..

Jack Eichel William Ekland Brent Clark Jack Quinn Kent Johnson Sam Reinhart Luke Hughes 2019 Boston Bruins Tampa Bay Lightning Friday, July 23rd Dylan 25 minutes Owen Jack last year Collins Young New York Islanders top 15

"Yeah, it would be interesting to see who they might go for and where that pick might be. I think a guy like Mason Natasha. She's going to go off the board pretty quickly. But if Say the Buffalo Sabres want just both guys that they draft high to be centers and 200 ft guys that you know you can rely on and they sort of glue align together. And ears and McTavish. You could do a lot worse. I would be very curious to see who slips through the first round to the favor. Second round pick. I would be very interested to see what forwards would be available for them there because I'm pretty convinced that some very very good ones would be available. If we're talking the other first round pick, and it's 1/7 or eighth overall, uh, a guy like Ken Johnson if he's available, you know, you just take to Michigan guys who already have played well together. Think that's not the worst idea, And I really like the potential of Ken Johnson. Like if we're talking about guys like all in power and the potential of their game and how much runway they have I look at Ken Johnson and go. Yeah, but you could make the same argument with him and with a bit of refinement and some time and some development You could have a tremendous sort of skilled offensive winger there that that has tremendous creativity that you don't find very often beyond that. If Dylan Gunter is available in that pic that you add that also in the high end, and it's maybe around nine or 10 ish, we'll see who's available at that pic. I think someone good will slip. But if I don't there is somehow still available. That might be a guy that I would also push forward. There's a few good options for forwards all throughout. I think the first round or two rounds that I think would be pretty easy plug and play guys with some time and development for sure, especially for a team like Buffalo that Is, you know, continuing to sort of build out and fill out their NHL team. You mentioned Luke Hughes in the discussion of of right up there at the top near with the better defenseman with all in power, any other defenseman that stand out in your mind that can compare to those guys or compete for a chance to go higher up in the draft? So I split my rankings into tears rather than really focusing on numbers. You know who's first persons who start and Luke Hughes is in my first here. He's the only defenseman there. I think there's a lot of work that needs to be done with him, But he has the advantage of age. An interesting thing that I've come to realize about Almost all of the defenseman in this year's draft is that they are There's a very wide range of possibilities with where their careers could go. I would say that the safest option for getting a defenseman who can you know eight minutes at the very least, is Simon Edinson. And I think there's a lot of runway to work with people who say that Simon Edmondson's defensive game is not great, I think are not quite seeing the right things that they should be seeing, I think is defensive game. Sometimes he can be a bit of a struggle to watch. But a lot of that comes from when he has the puck on his stick. Where is his defensive game, Especially at the under 18 tournament is that tournament went on got better and better, and you look more comfortable and I'm a huge fan of the defensive game that Simon Edmondson brings at this age, and I think that will carry him forward pretty well, Brand Clark. I think the big concern with him is that he's an offensive defenseman who In my view is kind of strictly at his best in the offensive zone and moving pucks up the ice. I think it's still a work in progress, and the skating is still a work in progress, but the vision and awareness of the ice And the aggressive offense is unlike anyone else in the draft. Um again, I think there are also interesting defenseman that could be available in the second round. I'm of the belief that second round picks are You know, some If you play your cards right, they can be just as valuable as late first into the mid first round. If you just draft guys who just shouldn't be available, and I think there's going to be really good for words and really good defenseman that You could probably snag in the early second round. But right up at the top. Yeah. I'd have a hard time making my first pick overall. One of these defenseman, it would be. It would be a tough one for me to do especially what I've seen with what I've seen of guys like veneers in Ekland, but Have the argument. I have time for the argument of, you know, see what happens with development. But You're talking about the first guy off the board, and that's where you kind of lose me a little bit. It's a bit complicated to me Will scout from the scouting report and joins us right now on the West, her hotline. He also contributes with MMA Keane's hockey. We also spoke with Ryan Wagman this morning from Akin's hockey, You can find that on demanded. W gr 5 50 dot com. Well, we got a few more minutes here with you, but I really need your help. Kind of classifying this draft class because there are a lot of people that see this draft class, comparing it to so many years in the past, and they say, Well, this is one of the worst draft classes. That that has come out in the NHL and sometime and I tend to disagree with that argument. I think that this draft class, especially with this top 10 group is a very good draft class of guys who are probably going to play 506 107 100 games in the NHL and give you really good production similar to like the 2011 draft class where your top three players were. Nugent, Hopkins, Landeskog and Huberdeau and All of them are going to be very good NHL players once their career comes to an end. But the rest of the top 10 are full of contributors that have made an effect with their teams at the NHL level, and I see this draft class kind of playing out the same way. How do you feel about the top of the draft class and the rest of the draft class? Overall is there is this Draft class where it kind of fits that mold or do you agree with some people were saying this is not exactly the strongest draft class that it's been around in years. Well, I kind of get a little bit miffed when I hear people talking about teenagers and you know, in one breath they'll Seo like with with development. This is going to happen. Like with time. This is going to happen or this player can outperform if they do this, and then they also in the same breath say, But this draft sucks. Find that that is just a bit confusing, like you can't have it both ways. If it's a bad draft than say that these players are not great, um to me. I'm not really in the business of projecting NHL draft classes and saying they're bad or good. What I will say about this classes. I don't necessarily see Game changing talent. You know, if you draft in your first overall, he's not going to be Sidney Crosby. He's not going to be economy David. He's not, You know, they're It's also extremely hard to be that immediately in the NHL anymore. The NHL has gotten so much better in the last few years with Depth of talent and the training and the you know the enhanced basically everything across the board. Um, so when I look at this draft class, I see a lot of very interesting case studies. I think that at the top end like you said, it's a good group of top 10 or 12 guys. But a lot of them. Like I said with the defenseman, there's a very wide range of possibilities for their career. Ken Johnson, for example, I think there's a world where he comes out playing like Johnny Gaudreau in the NHL with skill and creativity and highlight real stuff. There's also a world where he gets to the H l and might struggle to get in. Kind of like in Buffalo with Casey. Middle Stat has had a bit of struggles in his career. But you know, eventually you hope that they work through it and you take time and work on it. But It can happen, and I think that there's a lot of players like that. If Simon Edmondson's clock management doesn't really improve a whole lot over the next few years, I question just how effective him an NHL player, he'll be outside of really sort of that defense only kind of like an Adam Larsson kind of player. You know how valuable is that? It depends who you ask, so I think there's a lot of that..

"So I think that that's that's the best that you can hope for. And and really And they still have to. They have to get this one. Right? Obviously, with Chris Peters here on the Western Hotline might show up in the bulldog. This is w gr. Well, at least somewhat transitioning into some prospect. Talk here. Chris. What does The what is possessing the first overall pick in this draft due to the equation. Would it be such that they wouldn't or would want to add someone else High up on the draft? Because that seems like that maybe could or should happen in such a trade. What? What is all of that worth? Yeah, well, you know, I think having having the first overall pick gives you such great flexibility because it allows you You know, you get whoever you want in this draft with that pick, most people would suggest the number one guy his own power and that you know, that's a top end defenseman. So You know that that gives you you know, if you say that, Okay. Well, if we do get another one if we get another high pick who are the players available to us? Do we have centers? We have elite wing. You know, I think that With Darlene. And if you have power, then you're probably looking forward Or are we looking at the elite goaltenders in the draft as well Because there are two guys that will probably be top 15 picks in the draft in Yes, we're all set. And Sebastian Costa. Um, so there are a lot of options available to you. I just think that you know you're going to need a lot of other pieces in addition to that, because I think Anything outside of really the top two. For me. I think there's enough of a drop off to the next here, but but you're still getting quality prospects. Guys that should be top six forwards. Top four defenseman those kinds of players Are available in that range. So, um, yeah, if you're if you're going to get some more picks, it just gives you more flexibility and knowing you know, you can take the best player available at number one have the best option and then you still get one of You know the more coveted prospects in the draft if you do have a selection within that top 10. Particularly in that top five. Where where you can make a previous pretty significant impact on your your prospect Pool and your NHL roster for as early as next season. Chris, How solidly are you on? Oh, and power is number one overall like is that in permanent ink? It is for me. I think that you know, he kind of solidified it even further. At the World championship when he played for Canada just to see his readiness, his level of of improvement from the beginning of this year to the end of this year. Um, just, you know, playing at Michigan. He didn't have incredible point production. You know, I think that it took us Took him a while to figure out what he needed to do to produce offensively at the college level, which is not uncommon for true freshman. I mean, it's just really he's a young freshman and had just come made the jump from from the U. S. H l where he was a highly productive defenseman. So you know he at least has the offensive demon has been his In his rear view mirror there, and I think that he will continue to get progress towards that, if if he does, you know if he's in the NHL, or if he's in the N C double a next season, So for me, I I think that he's just the best player available. Impact the game most ways. I think you know you're looking At a top pairing defenseman, a guy that can play big minutes and the fact that he was able to play for team Canada. They didn't really know what they have there. They kind of let up, left him on the bench in the first game, and then they kept giving them more ice time and more ice time and more ice time. To the point where he was essentially a top pairing guy playing with NHL players, and, you know, he said that he could potentially go back to school, which I don't think should scare anybody, and it should certainly shouldn't scare The Sabres away, even if even if he wants to go back to school next season, because as we've seen with with college defenseman Many of them have gone back for that second year, and it made all the difference in the world to their development. With Chris Peters here on W G r Bulldog, you have something else or No. Yeah, well, I think considering how Michigan season ended Chris, right. I mean, they got bounced out of the tournament because of Covid couldn't even Could even you know, get going in that and they'll be stacked. I mean, if they bring back all the guys that are going to get drafted here, Johnson veneers and add Luke Hughes like they I think are probably the number one team going into the year. Are they not? Absolutely. I mean, as long as the only power is there, I think for sure, But even if he's not there going to be one of the top teams and a contending team, um they also have Eric Portillo, who is probably going to get a lot more ice time. Next year. The Sabres prospect and, you know, really talented young goalie. And I think we'll do well, but But, yeah, I mean that that is a group there. I had just had Mel Pearson. We recorded this interview for my podcast will be out this week on the head coach there and he's you know, he's really excited about what could potentially They could potentially have next season and I think there is an air of unfinished business for those guys. There's also the fact that None of them had a real college season. You also they want to have that experience, so I think that they're going to be an outstanding team. It would be a good place and police will continue to progress. So, Chris, I just want to sort of make this general observation with you on here about about the situation more than like a specific question. Um, you know, I my comment leading into this conversation was pretty snarky. It's not the best time of year for Sabres fans, but you know, you get it like it's The draft and changes and all that. That sort of thing. I just wonder like, so I might have a team here next year without Eichel and without Reinhart, and just like, Who's the goalie? All this? Newness to it, and it's blasting the league..

"Reilly deal for that, Like it seemed like that deal was rushed that they wanted it done on July 1st. They didn't have to pay that signing bonus, and they just took the best that was out there. And I don't know if I told you that come draft time. They've got a bunch of offers that they really don't like. Will they still move them Because they feel like they just can't like they've got to do it like they can't go forward. They can have him on the roster opening night. They better not I mean, if they do then, as far as I'm concerned, you can just put it in the back here had that The Sabres are never going to be good until they hire the next GM, and hopefully he'll be good. Because I don't think you're a very good GM. If you just take the best offer because you think you've got to get Jack like a lot of here. I mean, Yeah. I understand that. Jack Eichel has a clause in his contract a year from July, 1st that would Give him a no movement and allow him to nix any deal that you could put out there, But there's still a long ways away. And even if you get there, you get there. Um, but you know if if the other team Says. Well, you can't have this prospect. Sorry. Well, okay, we'll take your fourth best prospect instead of your first best prospect. No, you hang up the phone If that best prospect is not available, and the other team is not willing to part with that person. You hang up the phone and wait until the have another conversation down the line when Are you ready to part with that prospect Because and let him know you mean business. Let that GM know that. If you have any hopes of getting Jack Eichel, this is what it is going to take. And if you're not willing to do that, then you know he's not going to be in your city could not agree with more could not agree more with that. Um, let me ask you a guest. Specifically, Maybe not about the ducks. Maybe it's about just defense. You had this this idea that I've heard you say on the station and even on another station about flipping Darlene for another center dependent on what you would get back. And Michael offer, And the reason I bring up Anaheim is well, they have the third overall pick. And yes, Trevor's egress is the most popular name that would like to throw into these mock Michael trades, but There are other star level prospect is Jamie Drysdale, who is a defenseman. And if he were to be included on the deal, it doesn't have to be. You could say they should do this anyway. The third overall pick. They've just been years kid. Everyone seems to project going second. So if he were to go to and you're not getting Zegers in the deal, suddenly I've got all these young defenseman with high upside. Oh, and power and Drysdale and Luke Hughes, maybe or the Sweden kid. Add Vincent, like there's a bunch of defenseman at the top. I don't know. Like Do you think that Darlene swap for another center is that something they could actually get to? If that's kind of how it plays out if I were Adams, I would if I know for sure. I'm taking power. Would definitely explore that. It has nothing to do with that. I think that brass Miss Darlene is not going to be a good player because he slumped in the beginning of last season under Kruger and slumped the year before. I actually think Darlene is going to be fine, and I think he's going to be a good player and I think under Granado, he showed us the type of player that he could be on his way to being and that's why I had the idea because You know, it's like, uh, the last time the Sabres have the number number one overall pick if you remember they traded a to Pierre Turgeon. And they traded him for Pat La Fontaine. That's what I'm looking for. That would be the type of trade or impact that I'd be looking for. Not even a winger. I'm not calling the Rangers. I need a guy who is going to be my top center for years to come. Just like Rasmus Dahlin is going to be one of your top defenseman for years to come. That's what it's going to take me. You know, uh, to get that deal, whether you're calling the King's You're calling the Blackhawks on, Doc, Maybe you're calling the devil's for Jack Hughes. You know the but that's that's the trade I would be looking for. Not because I want to get rid of Darlene. Not well. I have too many defenseman, so I'll just get rid of Dalian for a pretty good player. Whatever it would have to be something specific like that. But I definitely would explore it just to flip your good depth. I suppose you could put it because you know now you got power. So okay. He's a left handed shooting. D also And let's turn that very, very good number one overall pick into Maybe a very, very good number one overall pick center number two overall pick center That can take that the number one spot by the horns. And I think you become a better team because of it, especially if you're trading Eichel and your trading Reinhardt. I don't know. I just think it would be a really, really good idea if you could pull it off. Alright Paul honey big plans for the weekend. No, I'm definitely because of traffic. I've seen the air show now, so you won't won't be heading down there. But now we'll see what we'll see what the weekend brings. Of course, I'll be watching hockey as we go along with The USA Network. I find that interesting. You know here. NBC's losing the contract and you're in the semi finals in the NHL has their games on the USA Network. Okay, Cool. Yeah, they're just punting on it. I guess we know we're not keeping it anyway, so we might as well just stick them over here. Uh, do you have, by the way? Do you have a final that you want to see? Like, I think the most popular answer for that is Vegas and Tampa just because of the styles that they play up and down the ice offensive, But I don't know. Part of me does want to see something that we've never seen. Well, at least I've never seen because you know, year to year without it being weird like this. You're not gonna get to see Montreal versus the Islanders of the Lightning in the finals. Yeah, but you know, Vegas and and Tampa would be would be sweet. Yeah, Yeah, That'd be something new also and the thing about the islands and I don't want this to come off wrong because I respect the heck out of the Islanders. I respect Barry Trotz. And what he has been able to do when you lose. John Tovar is one of the best talents in the National Hockey League and you actually become better. Well, there's there's something for Adams to look to trade your best player and get better good luck with that, But it's been done..

"Whoa! Why didn't he asked What that meant? Maybe he did. Maybe he did ask what that meant. And then was wasn't told Elliott Friedman on his 31 thoughts, podcast. Hearing rumors about the Sabres, adding an early pick. I mean, that's how you do it. It's move one of your stars. That's how you do it. And it's what bulldog you know better than I would Paul says it like he feels like it's a little bit of a down year. Um, yeah, I mean, I think it's a down here in that you don't have a can't miss the guy that's going to step right in, but I think there's going to be good players out of this draft. I mean, there's there there almost always is, right. Um and I do. I really think Owen power has has grown. Of the world Championships really helped him a lot. It certainly helped him with me. I watched some of that and read a lot about how he looked and what he was given as responsibility. And I'm I'm a lot more. Comfortable with picking him one that I was. I don't know what before the lottery. We talked and I was like, I don't really care if they win it. And now I'm kind of glad they did. I think he has got the potential to be a really nice player. I'm not even the least bit worried about him. Playing at Michigan again next year like was reported late last week. I think right that he's leaning that way. Fine. Win a national title. You had one yet one year of college hockey, and it was a messed up covid year where your team didn't even get to play in the in the tournament because of Covid. So they're stacked. Luke Hughes is joining that team They're going to. They're going have three, maybe top 10 picks. I'll come back and play on that team, including power. Don't act self out. And if you get another high pick, maybe you get one of his teammates. You know, maybe you can get been ears. Um, you know, he doesn't go second or third. You know you you get the fourth or fifth pick maybe you could do with those guys. NHL draft a little bit more than a month away, were eager to get connected with our fans brought to you by Bond, Shinnick and King, a full service Buffalo law firm, one of several topics we've talked about today. How do you How do you describe? That's not the word I want, either Vladimir Guerrero. In Buffalo, having an amazing season on pace, or at least by some projections to perhaps win the Triple Crown. Leading numbers over everybody in baseball. If you ever were to talk about great Buffalo seasons, Guerrero might be having one here, but it's different, so I don't know. I'm excited about Jay's Yankees and him. And US And I just don't really know exactly how to slot it to put it one way..

"Not a big Oh, and power guy. I know he was great at the world Championships, but I'm not going to let if you if you heard me after the draft lottery own power is not my guy. In fact, he wasn't my number. Top two guys. Luke uses my guy, and if they're going to go away from a defenseman, I would go with Matthew veneers. Power is just not my type of defenseman. Now I think I Was a little misguided in thinking and what he was because he is not just being drafted because of his physical attributes. He is a great passer stretch passes out of his own end, lugging the puck out himself. Smooth skater, not a dynamic skater, but a smooth skater. But I still think The overall the overarching point of His ceiling is capped. Compared to Luke use. I think that remains accurate. Hughes has All the makings of being Kalma car two point Oh, I mean, the odds of him reaching that level are probably not They're not even 50 50. But I want to take that shot. Want to go for the high ceiling guy and I want to go for the guy. That's 17 years old in a draft class where we don't think there's an elite talent Let's take the one guy that might Be able to get there. Who has an added year of development than at these other guys. Because in reality Luke Hughes is almost 2022 draft eligible. He almost shouldn't be eligible for this draft. So You're basically getting too fast forward a year on the draft process. And that's a risk because you can go to Michigan as a freshman and be average and you look like idiots. What If he's great. And you'll look like geniuses. In taking a risk on a guy that could have the elite potential that you didn't think existed in this draft class. And to me, He's the one guy that has the opportunity to to have that. There is no generational talent in this draft class. But if anybody is going to be generational It's Luke use. It is not own power. That's my thought. All right. Well, that's going to do it for me tonight on the nightcap. Thank somebody. Four listening will be back tomorrow at seven o'clock. "Or if they trade it. I'm fine with either scenario to be quite honest with you, and but my reasoning isn't so much that that's a little bit of it. I'm just tired of it, Bulldog. I'm tired of it. I'm tired of waiting. It's been 10 years. I mean, yeah, You can get a good player you really can. You know she can get If you trade good players who can help you immediately. I'm not telling you that. Oh, my gosh, sold the farm for prospects to to just suddenly you know who cares anymore? Just get to the playoffs. And don't worry about after that. That's a premium that is the most coveted assets. A team can have the top overall pick of a draft period now granted, of course, other than an incredibly elite center or whatever this is like one of the most coveted asked asset You can have You can spin it for really good things, and I just want really good things on this team. And if that's what it takes, I don't care anymore that yeah, three times in the history of this franchise. 70 87 a few years ago. They had the number one pick. You know what this they've had. They had number two picks a couple of times with Jack Eichel in Sam Reinhart. You know what else they've had? They've had, Um top 10 picks several times over the last several years. They're still without the playoffs over the last decade. I don't care anymore. Trade it. Yeah, I hear you. I I think with this draft if I could like I don't want to trade Eichel and Reinhardt for established players. I think getting getting guys who were corrected in the last year or two. Um, is the way to go there. I really do. I think you can get and you should be able to might be complicated by the injury. And now this, there's talk of everybody. Both sides sabers and and Jack exploring their options. As far as you know what, what? You know surgery, no surgery. The team doesn't want him to get it all that. I mean, it's a very It's a mess. Um So that muddies the waters. But as far as like trading the number one pick like if somebody wants to give you 26 or 27, year old player that can play for you this year. Um As as part of that, like, if a team at seven or eight or somewhere in the draft wants to do that I'm listening to that sale, because if you if you can go down and get Luke Hughes Who people are projecting to be just a dynamite defender in the NHL. I mean, he's he's going to go to Michigan, like Mike mentioned here in the fall and play there. He may be one and done in college. He might be that good, um, so we'll see. Like if there's if there's a sameness to Maybe everyone but own power or even including him that like the difference between pick one and pick 10 isn't as dramatic. I think that's at least fair to say. In this year because there hasn't been a clear cut number one Mike Morial might feel very strongly and does clearly about own power. And maybe more people will start singing his praises after this world championship performance, But with that said, if the gap between one and 10 isn't so big, and I can get paid to move down five spots seven spots. Get something that can help me right away and still draft of a very talented player. That's comparable to who I might draft at 234 or five Yeah, I'm listening to that. I don't think you know with Darlene. I wasn't ever going to talk about it because he was such a clear cut number one wrecked overall pick and I still think that that's on track. It looked bumpy earlier in the year and I was losing hope, but it's restored now, like I think that's that's going to that's going to be fine. As far as I'm concerned right now, Dolly and I'm not worried about him. Any more. Um, you know, he still has to progress, but I'm confident that he's headed in the right direction again. Um, the jack, but I don't need I don't need to go ahead. I'm scared. I wouldn't have never traded number two when I was getting ready to pick Jack Eichel or Sam Reinhart. Alright, But this year, having been through all those high picks, I would totally listen to it this year. Yeah. And I just think it's it's picking number one. It's not. I understand this isn't actually the case like it's kind of representative of Oh, yeah, we're still rebuilding and all that, and they can look at it that way. Maybe they are. Just you don't have to do that. I don't think you have to do that anymore. There is a group of players here, I think showed last year there's some nice young players. And if you have Jack Eichel healthy and you can resign Sam Reinhart. Yeah, there's a lot of ifs. I understand. I'm saying that But isn't there to me? I've seen so many rumors in scenarios and people bringing up just unrealistic trades. I understand that there would be it would. It's not easy to do. But to me, there's generally a team or two in the league. It kind of says to themselves, Okay? We need to reset here lets you know if we can get a topic we can maybe Get rid of a couple might cost us a couple of good players We have in the pipeline right now or on our roster right now, but we just kind of read it need to reset. Find a team like that. Who is that is that I don't think it's Pittsburgh, but hey, three straight first round exits. I think, right. Is it Washington? Is there a team that maybe says Hey, we're going to reset. We'll take the number one pick and we're gonna give you a couple of really good players for it. Well, yeah, that's different than what I was saying. Like, you know, I wasn't thinking about going that far down in the draft, but maybe that maybe that could be different. I mean, if if what you need is somebody to really love own power enough to do it. And I'm like I'm open to all ideas is really yet and like you are to your expressing a frustration about the playoff drought that I'm sure everyone listening to you is nodding along and definitely feeling. Um And I definitely feel that too. Um, but I think they are. I'm the cost of starting over sale. I don't think Reinhart and I call are going to be back on this team. Um, if they are, I think it's for a very short amount of time. So I think I'm going to be starting over. Um, so either way, like whether you're doing it to try to end a playoff drought. Like it sounds like you're mostly suggesting or you're doing it because you know you're starting over. I think there's a case to be made that the value of in the draft is still there. Enough that you could. You could trade this pick and I would not freak out about it. I mean, we'll see who knows Own power could turn into a monster. I don't know, but Um, I would. I would listen to reasonable ideas for sure. And I think what you're suggesting is is an example of that. I would just want to also point out the bills as a comparison here because they're the they're actually the team I'm thinking about as cells talking here. Because I felt like and this isn't I the with I'm remembering correctly. That throughout the playoff drought every year was about ending the drought in every year was about let's put the best team we possibly can on the field because we're frustrated and we want to make the playoffs. And every year it was futile until they got lucky. Really? When McDermott and Bean came in and said, We're tearing it down. We're going to get rid of all these bad contracts. We're going to gather picks and we're gonna build it back up. Ourselves and to me if the Sabres just think that they are 23 26 27 year old players away from being a playoff team when they don't have a single goalie under contract. For next year, and you've got two young defenseman that you know you can count on and maybe a couple of prospects who still haven't even scored double digit goals..

"When you have a chance to maybe get a player that you can pick and say, this is the guy we want on our team for our future. I think Owen power is that guy is that player and yes, I know Savers fans, and maybe there's some people out there that want to see the Sabres go for that award because maybe they feel as though the depth there is a little light. And you know, perhaps, and you know, there could be some players on the move. But look, I want power to me is the bona fide number one player in this draft. I like what he does I like what he could bring to a team and he has so much more to bring. He's got a great one runway as well. So I think the future Looks bright for him and anything that does draft them. Is there any question to you, then? I mean, you sound pretty definitive about that. Is it? How close is it like if the Sabres were too Choose his teammate is Michigan team. It seems like it's between veneers and power. But you know you would. You can tell me if that's if that's accurate or not like is it? Is it just Absolutely the wrong thing to do. Um Or is it or is it closer than that? Well, I mean, the number one international skater on Central's list right now Guy William Macklin from Djurgarden in Sweden. Um, the best comparison I can make is a Sebastian Aho type of player. I also like Simon Levinson, the defenseman for Rwanda and Sweden's Junior league. He goes about 6 £498. Another player that had an outstanding under eighteens in Texas for Sweden, so those to the European players like I think could be in the mix as far as the North Americans. Um, yeah. You know, it's power. And you're right. You know, I do, like been years is maybe in that second spot. I could see the crack and maybe taking him if if Buffalo does does take go and power at number one there, but Nears. You know 61 £175. Unfortunately, guys I know, you know, he plays he's been playing for the United States at the at the World Championship. He got injured in his last game. So he won't be playing the remainder of the tournament. They're injured his right leg so but, you know, it seems like he's okay. He's going to get some tests taken in Massachusetts when he goes back home, But you know, he's a driver. He gets the park and he goes with it. First instinct is to attack as soon as he makes the play. It's not, you know, he doesn't want to look at how the past when it's boom, he's on it. If there was a rebound, he's on the rebound of the puck goes in the corner. He's in the corner. Really effective player. And you know, I actually spoke to a scout a couple days ago, guys who told me And this is a reputable scout. I can't reveal any names. But he told me that he believes veneers can play in the NHL next year, he felt he has a top six level talent. Personally, I think veneers and power. Both have some unfinished business at Michigan since the team as you mentioned earlier and never got that chance to compete in the tournament, and Michigan is going to be loaded next year, Guys, they got another guy and Luke Hughes. Obviously from the NDP, who's eligible Miss draft as well. He's headed to Michigan as well. So again some good players here, But you're right. I think power and veneers may be at the top there. Has there been you alluded to it? Is there been any information about the severity of that injury that veneer suffered yesterday in that ugly fall against the end boards? No. All I got, guys, you know, from the highlights that I that I saw. Um, obviously, you know you you could tell that he was in pain when he when he left the ice and Um, again. He's going to get tested. He'll get tested. You know, I think they took. They took some X rays over in LA via. I don't know any results of that. All I know is that he's you know he's doing okay, but that he probably will be headed back home, uh, for for more testing and to see how things are All right, Mike, We're getting close on time here. So I want to shift to the state of the Sabres. Um, if you'll indulge us for a few minutes, I don't know, um, like how closely you're following it, but Let's see. I'll try to take it off quickly. Here. They still don't have a head coach. We have no idea who their NHL level goalies are going to be next year, and their two best forwards seemed like they want to be traded. Other than that, everything's going great over here. Yeah, well, you know, again, you know, missing the postseason for the 10th straight year. It's a tough scenario here for buffalo and and obviously, you know, you change coaches mid season. Um, you know, I think the savers or in a spot right now we're Granado looks to be like a nice fit for the club. I know they still, you know, have it named the full time coach, but I think he's a guy that can get it done. Here. I think with the young players they have he's worked and developed with young develop young players very well. So I think that would be a starting point to get Granado back in in the fold here, um, you know, as far as Oh, as far as the, uh, the Eichel and you know the situation and what's been going on there. You know, Sam Reinhart, I know is another one that were not so certain about. I mean, Only time will tell. But, uh I know Rasmus first Elaine into as one year remaining on his contract, So there are several players in here that I think you know, could be coming in and have quite an impact. Uh, with the team. I mean, we saw some of the young players coming in last year and had a bit of an a bit of an impact. So Um, you know, look, I think Buffalo's in a spot right now where I think they they have. I think 10 or 11 picks in this draft right guys so they can stockpile to come forward if they wanted to trade No. They got a pair of picks and the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Uh, so maybe they can package something to get a player that could be usable this year. And I guess that's another reason why a lot of people you know, talked about maybe trade in that that first overall pick to get a player that could come in. And help the team out right now, But you know they they tried to bring in some some free agents last year, and it really didn't help the team, So I think they're at a spot now where they just were Kevin Adams and his group wants to try to Build this franchise from within. It may be a little bit of a rebuilding effort. I know the fans want to start that winning mentality now, hopefully that can that can occur next year. Hopefully, they can have Aiko and Reinhardt be a part of that as well. So I think it's just a matter of being patient. Look, I love Rasmus Colleen what he's been able to bring to the club on the back end. I know we struggled a bit last year, but This is still a young player. I think Sabres fans only the best is yet to come. Uh, you know, uh, with with Colleen and what he's able to bring, so let's hope we're hoping for a better future here in Buffalo for sure. He was definitely a different player wants the coaching change happened. There was, you know, even though like the regular stats, the goals and assists didn't really change much. Just the way he moved around the ice, and the confidence he had with the puck under Granado was very different. Than it was under Kruger..

The net came loose as ST Louis crashed into it, but not before The park went in and cross the goal line. What a beautiful move by the son of the Hall of Famer Martinsson Louis. He scores that goal slided by Iraq and here's Willy Rhyme. Reimer needs to score to tie this up. Rhyme will pick it up at center ice moving from right to left. Long strides. Top of the circle bottom of the circle makes the move shoots and know it looked like you did he score. Yes, he did score, okay? Light never came on either. I thought he scored and then I look for the light never saw the light. So Willie Ryan keeps it going. Nice move by Ryan. Getting a piece of it was Homer but not enough to keep it out. So we go the other way left to right. And this will be Hughes Hughes makes a move shoot scores And that will do it. That's two goals in that shoot out for Team USA.
