Final results of the poll question. What we learned, what's in store tomorrow. All of that, coming up, Pauly says he has a great this day in sports history. Is that correct, Paul? It's pretty good. I'll give you the basic ones. 1906. Great to pretty good. Ramping ramping up. Jack Holmes of the Philadelphia pitched 24 innings of the game against the Boston Red Sox, 24 innings as a pitcher. Jared Richard, after a stroke, returned a baseball in 1982 for the Astros. And then the big one, this day in 2007, September 1st, Appalachian state, 33 point underdogs against Michigan, won 34, 32. 33 point dogs. Corey lynch blocked a field goal attempt with 6 seconds to go as app stayed upset Michigan in Ann Arbor by two. It was also on this date, in 1971, the pirates started what is believed to be the first all black lineup. Including several Latinos in baseball history, the beat the Phillies. So the lineup was rennie stennett, gene clines, Roberto Clemente, will he start your many sanguine Dave cash, Al Oliver, Jackie Hernandez, and the pitcher was Doc Ellis. This day, in sports history, Jay in North Carolina, hi Jay, what's on your mind? Hey, there real quick, since it's the end of the day, there's trash talking in the Bible. Okay. First game, chapter 18, Marie just real quick. The larger challenge to profits of bail to call upon their God to try to summon him. answer, but they never answered. So a large em up them saying, cryo ale for he's a God, either is musing or he's relieving himself or he's on a journey, perhaps he's asleep and must be awake. And so essentially, the lodge was saying, hey, where's your guy? Is he taking a dump somewhere? That's one of the exact words. No, they weren't. I don't know if that's the exact translation? I know my Bible. Big bathroom humor guy though. That's a fact. Elijah was Elijah. So it was Elijah the first trash talker. Pauly, could you check on it? Yeah, we're on it. Eric and Washington. I love this audience. Thank you. Thank you. Eric and Washington. Yeah, hello. Hey. Good morning, Dan. Hi, Eric. Yes, speaking of, yeah, you brought up a rod. Yeah, you got a shot of reality, didn't he? Oh, whoops. And I want to make a part of the face, I am going to back the Mariners. That they're going to get into the playoffs of this year. Okay. So does anybody want to take me on that? Does anybody want to take Eric up on the Mariners making the playoffs? Yes. The Mariners chances to make the playoffs as of right now are 96.7%. That's what I thought they were pretty good, Eric. But they're only one and a half games up on Baltimore and there's 32 games left. Well, wait a minute. They're at least up on Voldemort. If you were calling to say, hey, I'll take Baltimore to go into the playoffs. And Baltimore is a 6% chance of making the plans. And there are only two games back in the wild card. There was that. Eric why are you yelling at me? I'm just saying that I don't think you had a great bet there. Hey, Seattle's in the first place in the wild card. I'm gonna take a pot of the face if they don't make it. Yeah, pull. Mariners are won their past three to kind of put the pressure on others. "Your ducks? Yeah. Mission gave a giving 30 and a half to Colorado state. The slap in the face of the color Steve. But Michigan has two quarterbacks. I think Jim Harbaugh said basically that this is, is he relying on the Bible or a Bible quote in picking his quarterback? Thou shalt play two quarterback. I don't know. I remember that. Thou shall not play two quarterback. Yes, Tom. But I thought it's the whole two quarterbacks means you have no questions. I guess he doesn't subscribe to that. It feels like Jim Harbaugh doesn't want to make the decision. He wants the quarterbacks to make the decision. But it feels like, wouldn't you be able to decide that when you practice that, okay, that's my starter? Like, are they that close? Where are you going? Didn't he quote Solomon? Yes, Todd. People have asked, how did you come to that decision? Is it based on some kind of NFL model? No, it's really it's biblical Solomon. He was known for being a pretty wise person. What was 29th press conference? Indecisive though, he couldn't choose a quarterback Solomon. Yeah. Is Solomon going to be on game day? Is that they're going to have him on there with a flight? Is Solomon the guest picker this weekend? Yes, mom. It is the rapper Jack Harlow doing the guest speaking. That's what I'm hearing. Okay. Where are they for this weekend? Are they in Atlanta? I don't even know where college game day is? Notre-Dame Ohio State I would think. Okay. Last night on Fox, they replayed the Michigan Ohio State game from last year. I think Michigan won 42, something like that. It was so gorgeous to watch. There is snow trickling in the entire day. But, you know, they took a playbook out of Oregon, like you run the football against Ohio State. Even Utah losing to Ohio State, they ran the football yes. Harbo goes on to say no person, that's biblical, knows what the future holds. It's a process and it's going to be based on performance, but we're not going to withhold any good thing. Both have been tremendous quarterbacks. We think that both are capable of leading our team to a championship. Biblical. Tom and California, hi, Tom, what's on your mind? Good morning, Dan. Good morning, Dan. I'm calling regarding the origin of trash talking. Okay. Now, my perspective is I'm about to turn 70 in a couple of months. And I'm a retired social studies high school teacher. Okay. So a little history lesson for you. Muhammad Ali is involved in this story, but he is not the origin. In 1961, when he was still known as cassius clay, he was invited to be interviewed on a Las Vegas radio show. The other celebrity being interviewed was a pro wrestler by the name of George Wagner, otherwise known as gorgeous George. Well, Wagner or gorgeous George went on the interview first. And he talked about how he was going to completely annihilate his opponent. And Ali was listening to that, and that's where he got the idea to talk about his opponent, opponents, the way he did. So the origin, I believe, of trash talking, was gorgeous George Wagner, the professional wrestler. Thank you, Tom. I vaguely remember that now that Ali saw this heard this, and then decided to incorporate that into his press conferences. Yeah, Paul. Yeah, Ali definitely, you can find this on YouTube. Ali did an interview with the BBC in 1972, and they ask him, why is he so glib and all this kind of stuff? And he tells the entire gorgeous George story. Oh, that's good. Thank you, Tom. John in Florida. Hi, John, what's on your mind? Hey, Dan, how are you? Great, John. 6 foot two 20. I have a little rebuttal to the last caller. To me, Ali was the greatest great trash talker and what was amazing. He was smart because 95% of the all white audience who went to his early fights went there to see him lose. They hated him, but he sold tickets. But to me, the original trash talker was Jack Johnson, the black heavyweight champ. From what the 20s and he was with a white woman and he would trash talk his opponents to death and that is where it originated. And that is where Muhammad Ali got a lot of it from. Because it was heavyweight boxing, not stupid frigging wrestling. Thank you, John. John trash talking wrestling. Yes, Ali said that the wrestler gorgeous George told him a lot of people will pay a lot of money to see someone shut your mouth or to see you keep talking. One or the other. He's right. Lyle and Key West, Lyle is back. We lost him. Where'd you go, Lyle? Drop the call as usual. How are you doing? Okay, good. What's on your mind? During a break this week on your show, I heard an ad for eBay motors. And the slogan at the end of the ad has eBay motors. Let's ride. So I think there's a trademark dispute coming between eBay motors. And would it be with Russell Wilson? Or with the Denver Broncos? Who do you think? Well, I think I would go after the Broncos. They have more money. Their own by the one of the waltons, let's ride. Lazar. Fritz, let's check on that because your Broncos could be in trouble. They got some cash to bail themselves out. No, I know. I think that's why, you know, when they realize that this guy came in and it's like, he's got that cash. He's got the real money there. I read where Alex Rodriguez is having a hard time coming up with his portion of the money for the Minnesota Timberwolves. I don't know what that means as far as the sale of the Timberwolves, but a rod trying to scrounge around there. You wouldn't think Alex rod was having any, well, I don't know. Much dispensable cash that he has. Are you saying he's cash poor? I don't know. I don't know. Because that's the headline right now is that there's MLB blogs all over the place. Any time I bring up Patrick reporting yes, I know. Once again, I got to be really careful because people are looking for clickbait. If you just say, hey, you know what? I'm thinking about question mark. I just read just read that Alex was having some. Cash around. Wow. Wow. Too soon? Now he's not coming out. No, now I'm going to get blamed for. Anytime I bring up a rod and I have a story like, well, you don't like him. No, I don't like him. But he's the reason why. When you're ready to challenge me and I think you're going to fight me one time. Yeah, I have a problem with that. And I just called you out for your BS. Let's take a break here. Let's play nice. It's a Thursday. Almost done. Get through unscathed, meet Friday tomorrow. Yes, it is. Controversial meet Friday menu tomorrow. That means it's salmon. Because Tyler doesn't like seafood. He gets sick. He actually gets nauseous. So we never get to have salmon. Something like that. Mahi mahi. And couldn't just be mahi. Mahi mahi. I heard you the first time first time. Yes, Todd. They had a name it twice. I don't know. It's not good. Take a break back after this. "I get that. Although it's closer than I thought, he's the Cincinnati head coach in his 6th year, Luke fickle, and he was at Ohio State for his playing career coaching career, but he's turned that Cincinnati program around. They certainly did some damage last year, got a couple of players in the pros, Desmond Ritter with the falcon sauce gardener with the jets Cincinnati plays at number 19 Arkansas Saturday at three 30 eastern and coach joins us now. You're not going to be able to sneak up on anybody this year, right? I don't think so. Which is a good thing, you know? I mean, I think in those second and third years, we still were trying to make sure people understood who we were and make a name for ourselves. And I think an evolution to what it is that you're doing and, you know, I don't think by now that it's going to sneak up on a whole lot. But that went in Notre-Dame and in South Bend, got people's attention because that felt like, okay, this is a true big did it feel like it was a turning point changing perception point for you. Well, we always said that, you know, until you beat one of those blue Bloods, you know? It's hard to be lumped into or even given the respect. And happen at any point in time, what you've seen all over years and years. But I think the consistency and then to win that game, especially on the road, gave us a little more validity for what we were doing as a program because, you know, when we got beat by Georgia or whatever it was, it was like, hey, we're not to where we need to be. We know we got to grow. And until you beat one of those top 5 type ten, you know, historically national teams, you know, you don't have a whole lot to hang your hat on. Yeah, and I don't know what it does for future scheduling. You got Arkansas right out of the gate. That's a top 20 team. When was that game scheduled? I'm not sure. I'm sure it was probably four or 5 years ago. You know, I was one of those guys that never looked very far ahead, you know? So until about two years ago, when they said it, let's talk schedules. I was like, what does it matter? You know? I mean, we've got a long way to go. We're just going to keep our eyes here and do this. Until about two years ago, okay, maybe have a few minutes here to try to think about some of that stuff and then look at the future and planning for your program. But that was probably about 5 years out. I think it is unique. I think it's unique to go down south to start against an SCC team. You never know what kind of team you're having 5 years away, whether it's your own team or their team, but I always think it's going to be an environment no matter what that you got to be prepared for. But I wonder, are you going to be able to schedule opponents that will help you be in the playoff. Now that you guys are good and that you're in a conference, I don't know where we're headed here, Luke. I don't either. And I know that I would say that, you know, we're in the big 12, I don't know that you got to go out and make sure you've got a marquee game, you know? I'm not saying you avoid them. But I think that when you're in those leagues, you've got to say that our league is strong enough that it's going to put us in a position no matter what it is that we do. If we win, but I still think there's a push in college football in some way somehow if we grow this playoff system, I'm not getting all that soap box name of sorts. But it'll give us more opportunities through the whole country to play some of these games earlier. We get no pre season. We get no scrimmage. You know, so the first one is always really tough, but I think if it doesn't completely have an overriding impact on the entire season, I think we'll see a lot more of these games. But did you know what was the difference you noticed between your team in Georgia? I think it comes down to just natural size. I think the guys up front is where you first see it, you know, and I'm not saying we don't have big guys, but sometimes our guys are in their fourth and 5th year, you know, that have kind of grown into be a 310 pounder where, you know, I think sometimes in the SEC and some of the leagues you get guys walking in the door that are naturally 310 pounds. And there are sometimes a little bit of a size difference. And I think it's more up front. I think a lot of the skill positions and things like that. That was pretty impressive that Georgia had. Well, yeah, I've watched them on film again this year, just getting prepared for this game. And it's a hard one to watch because you're like, ah, I don't know if we can do some of those things. But I think with the top 5, ten teams, that's where the difference usually comes. It's those guys up front. We're talking to Luke fickle. He's the Cincinnati head coach. They have Arkansas at Arkansas, and they're the 19th ranked team in the country coming up this Saturday. How many of your players know that you played nose guard? I would say a few I'm not sure as many as the younger kids. I think when it first started you taught me, I thought you talked about it, but even as the change that you became the new head coach, I think there was a lot more to talk about where you came from. Once you've been there for a few years, I think you've been able to change the talk to what it is that we've done as coaches. But there's times when I do remind them that today, this is an old defensive lineman wrestler, so I just don't want you guys to forget that. Yeah, but do you ever get into a stance? Do you ever get down all fours just to tell them show them how it's done? Yeah, you know, I try to and then try to stop short of making contact because I'm not sure exactly what will happen. I'm not sure if the Achilles will continue to stay attacked or what it is. So you can pull them with a stance and an alignment and some intensity in your face. I'm not sure I want to show them how to come off the ball and what it looks like when contact is made. Is Cincinnati in a position where you lose players to the portal or are you getting players from the portal? We've been very, very, very fortunate. We've lost a few. Not many that we would say. I don't want that to happen. We've lost two young guys, I think, in the last couple of years, that just never quite gave themselves an opportunity to understand and embrace the culture. So for us, even when the portal first started, I said, this is going to be an advantage to us because we're going to take care of our kids, we're going to build relationships with our kids, so they won't leave. But then we're going to have opportunities to bring the right ones into our program, whether they're younger or older guys, just to give us some difference makers or some variety. It's not the way we want to build the program or grow the program, but it's a way that we can enhance the program. Good luck against Arkansas coach. Thanks for joining us. Appreciate it. Thanks for having me. That's Luke fickle Cincinnati head coach. They got our concern. Number 19 this year. That'll be this weekend. Arkansas favored by a touchdown here. Any interesting point spreads I know we talked about Notre-Dame against Ohio State at 17 and a half is it stage 17 and a half? I got Ohio State as a 17 point favorite as of this morning yesterday Notre-Dame, yeah. Alabama's given 41 and a half to Utah state. You like the eggies. I do. I like their uniform. I don't know if that'll help them against Alabama. Utah three point favorite at Florida. That one's interesting. Yeah. There's a little pressure on Cincinnati to win this Arkansas. Yes, serious. I would think so. It's like, hey, you know, no fluke. Don't be a one year wonder. More likely to be a one year wonder. Cincinnati bearcats, Cincinnati, Bengal.

"You could take a victory lap. So you just got one SEC team. You could take a victory. What if he goes over? Okay, more likely to go two for four two for four O four four. Desmond Howard. I guess you gotta be more likely to go for four. I'm guessing pi to the face, baby. Why don't we get ahold of Desmond Howard? Dez, pie to the face, if you don't go at least two for four with your college football picks. And I'll take two pies to the face. If you do go to for four. We'll give them the pies man. There you go. I love these prop bets, DraftKings sent these over. Steelers, Penn State, more wins this year. And stayed favored by three and a half, against Purdue tonight. Eagles, or the Steelers. Yeah, you know, I was talking to somebody in the NFL last night. And it's only coaching staff of a team, not the Steelers who said, don't sleep on the Steelers because they improved at quarterback. And I went, you don't think of that where you go, all right, Mitchell trubisky is better than Ben Roethlisberger. And if Kenny Pickett comes in, now we're talking about old Ben. But what did Ben do last year? How many touchdowns interceptions? He had 22 touchdowns, ten picks, 3700 yards, was 9 and 7 of the starter. It wasn't awful. It was bad for Ben Roethlisberger. Okay. So trubisky comes in. I mean, I'm more excited about Kenny Pickett, but I think they're doing the right thing and starting Mitchell trubisky. Because I can start there, if it doesn't work out, I bring in picket. You know, Mitchell trubisky's not really going to cost you that much. Kenny Pickett, you get him on that rookie contract. And if he's your quarterback, all right, you got him for a few years. Now you can continue to pay your defense or get some offensive weapons. But you do have a couple of good receivers. You got a good running back. You got some impact players on defense. I know it's a tough division because we talk about the AFC west. And rightfully so. The AFC north could be really challenging again. Now, it's not as spicy, but if I look at Joe burrow in the Bengals, they're one hit wonder. I got Lamar Jackson in the ravens who are going to be better. Steelers are different at the quarterbacking position, but you got a Hall of Fame coach. You got a really good team. Got some defensive players. And then I got the Cleveland Browns waiting for deshaun Watson. Those are all, all four of those teams could win. They could win that division. Let me see. Let me get to Lyle in Key West and then we'll bring in coach fickle from Cincinnati. Hey, Lyle. Lyle? Hi Lyle. I'm not sure if I fell asleep. He'd been on hold for a little while. More phone calls coming up. Well, we hope somebody's on the other end to make them a phone call. Can't be a phone call if nobody's on the other end. I don't think. All right, 8 7 7 3D P show seat. Would you update the poll results, then we'll bring in coach. Absolutely Dan, we got two going right now. All right. If you could only watch one college football or pro football. Right now, 55 percent of the audience picking pro football. Okay.

"Things to Joe Frazier. About race, about being black, and to me, that was really beneath Ali to do that because he didn't need to. Because I did like Joe Frazier. Then I felt that Ali was unfair to him. Yes, Mark. To go back to Serena, she's one of those names like all the people you just named, they are people where you don't know sports at all. You know nothing. My wife knows nothing about tennis. She's like, well, Serena's playing. Yeah. Like, oh. No, it was family viewing. Right. Where you're going to watch something, and this might be the last time you see them. We're going to get to the point where we're not going to see Tiger play competitively anymore. And tigers 5th major, by the way, is the father son. Tournament that he plays with Charlie. So Tiger is going to gear up for the majors, and then he's going to play in the father's son. That's the importance, that's the list of importance when it comes to golf tournaments for Tiger. Yeah, pulling. I can't imagine being the child of a global athlete. Not a good athlete. You know, if your dad played Bailey, Patrick Mahomes, his dad, Pat Mahomes, was a nice baseball player. He had a nice career. But he wasn't like a global icon. Michael Jordan's son is trying to play basketball. LeBron's sons are trying to play basketball. There's almost zero chance they can match dead. And Serena Williams has a daughter. Does she encourage her to play tennis? For discourage her to play test? No. I think she's encouraged her to play tennis, but Ken griffey senior Ken griffey junior Barry Bonds with Bobby bonds. But they weren't, you know, it was different. I mean, they were just very good players. They weren't global. This is different. This is where everybody in the world knows your dad or your mom. Yes. Why do we could sort of going off of what Paul just said, because I know that I do the same thing until you take a step back and look at it. Why do we put those expectations on children? Like LeBron, well, you're never going to be as good as LeBron so don't even bother playing basketball. Like, why not? You know, you know, Michael Jordan's sons, you're never going to be as good as your dad, so don't even bother playing basketball 'cause it's just gonna be a waste. Why do we expect them to and if they don't meet up to what their parents legacy is, then it's a disappointment. Well, I think that there are people out social media. And no matter what you do, it's never going to be good enough. And it's unfair to them, but it shouldn't mean that you don't go into. If you love basketball, you play basketball. I think Michael Jordan's sons came through, I don't know that social media was what it is now. And they still showed their games on TV and it was just like, all right, well, let's see. This kid, but he's never going to be Michael, so what's like brawny? I mean, LeBron's son, those games are on TV. Yeah. I don't know how good he is. I've watched him play. He doesn't strike me as NBA talent. But he's good. I think the younger brother strikes me as he might be the one who could play. But you know, to try to be fair to him, and I think that's really the key, because we keep going, let me see you. And if bronnie was just playing, I might go, hey, he's a nice player. But because it's LeBron James son, you're like, so just feels like you're viewing him differently. It just. I think it's human nature. Yeah, Todd. Like arch Manning, if he was arch Goldfarb with Texas be so gung Ho. We gotta get our gold farm. We got he's gonna be great. I'm sure he's a very good quarterback, but that last name that endorsement gets you to think that this could be something spectacular for you. Why did you go gold farm? I don't know, that's just a name that came up with. It could be anything. Williams, whatever. But that gold farmer. The gold bar was probably something that's just not going to get it done. Years ago, Texas signed arch gold bar, but they made him a defensive back. He was a great quarterback. The LongHorn's gonna be great for years to come, march gold farms coming. Dale and Iowa. Hey Dale, what's on your mind today? Hey, calling you from lovely Iowa City ayahuasca can not wait to get my shirt. I'm calling about the college football playoff expansion, but before that, as you guys were mentioned in the father and son thing, a few weeks ago, the field of dream games up in dyersville, which is just up the road. I don't know if everyone saw, but Ken griffey junior and Ken griffey senior were playing catch in the eye. Yeah, we saw that. Freaking cool. Anyway, with this new, I don't see how with the Big Ten new agreement. And Kevin Warren for a couple of years has said, hey, I want an NFL type format where there's network sharing of the playoffs. I don't see them signing off on anything where ESPN or the Big Ten sign in offline anything where ESPN gets to have all the college football playoff games. Yeah, I mean, there's part of the fight with that with the networks, too. That and I was told this a while ago about not wanting ESPN ABC to have all of this, all of the riches here. That's why the new TV deal. You start to spread it out a little bit more. And I'm not well versed in that arena when it comes to the TV rights and I don't want to try to convey that I know what's going on because I don't. The only thing I told you was what I was told a year ago about they were at least exploring moving this up to 2023. And yes, breaking a contract. Chris in South Carolina. Hi, Chris, what's on your mind? JM, hey, it's been a while. I hope you guys are doing well. I want to touch on the interview pieces you were talking about earlier. I will never forget when you were interviewing Barry Bonds when everyone, all the speculation was roaming about rolling around about his steroid use and I've never been able to find that video, but I definitely think that as a chart topper for me and also who are you guys picking to win the college football playoff this year? I'll take it off the air. Oh, gosh, I haven't even thought about it. No. If you said Alabama and Ohio State, how's that? I'm not going to give you a Desmond Howard type answer where I'm going Baylor, Michigan, Texas a and M and what was the other one? The pit? Pitt. Yeah. Oh, so then tune in tonight. Watch the potential national champion Pitt Panthers against West Virginia. Pet is favored by 7 and a half. Yes, polling. The desk think he's picking the final four for SA basketball. Has anyone nailed it? The NIT was he picking? I have no idea. But if he goes two for four, if Pitt goes to the final four, Michigan's already been there, Texas a and M Baylor,

"We breezed by the first two hours touched on a variety of topics. Final hour we'll talk to Cincinnati head coach Luke fickle. They're not sneaking up on anybody this year. They got Arkansas to open up this weekend and Arkansas making a comeback 19th ranked team in the country right now. Football coming up tonight. All right, maybe not great football, but good football. West Virginia Pitt, Oklahoma state against central Michigan and Penn State against Purdue, which could be spicy. Serena Williams advanced that the U.S. opened last night going into the third round. She's plus 1200 to win the open. She's tied for the 5th best odds to win it all. And she did it in three sets. Ticket prices went through the roof. It was like $800. They don't have a roof, do they? Yeah, so they couldn't literally go through that. They couldn't go through the roof if there's no roof there. Or do they have one that they could then put on top? Yes, marf. The newest stadium is a retractable roof. Okay. So just in case there's a roof, they'll blow through it. Or if they just open it up, then it could then have to go through the roof, then there's all that damage. But it went from $800 to $3000. If you want to sit courtside, Tiger was there last night, and Serena talked about his inspiration. Yeah, well, he's one of the one of the reasons I'm here, one of the main reasons I am still playing. So we talked a lot and he was really trying to get me motivated. And there's a few people, but you know, he was, we were like, okay, we can do this together, you know? And it was good because it was like, I didn't know what I wanted to do, but I just lost and just so many questions. And when you can rely on someone like that, I mean, my goodness, he's talking to Woods, was really helpful to get clarity. And Tiger was excited. He was pumped up, and now Serena goes into the third round. And you're trying to capture that. How long can you hold on to it? Athletes call it being in the zone. When you get into or getting blue, you get and this is what people who study this, where you get into that moment. You don't know why the basket looks so big or when you're putting the whole look so big or the ball looks so big when you're playing tennis or baseball. It's called being in the zone. You get blue. You don't know how you get in. You don't know why you got out and can Serena stay in that moment. Can she stay in the zone? Just like with Tiger. You can do it for one day, one round. Can you do it for two? Can you do it for three? Can you do it for four? That's the hard part with the athletes as they get older. You still have those moments where you still got it. And then you go, what happened? Because it can leave you that quickly. Can Serena stay in the zone. And this is where the crowd, because I'd hate to be your opponent because nobody wants you to win. Except for the people who came to see you who are with your team. That's it. Everybody wants to see Serena continue. It's like Jimmy Connors years ago. He played all those night matches, and the crowd was all in on Jimmy Connors. He might have been 36 years of age. And at the time, that seemed like really, really old in tennis. But they almost willed him to winning or continued to win. And that's the feeling you have with Serena Williams. 8 7 7 three DP show email address. Dan Patrick dot com, Twitter handle the TP show. We say good morning to those watching on peacock. Those who were chatting on chat roe and all of our radio affiliates around the country. But imagine this two of the most recognizable sports figures on the planet were their last night. Tiger Woods and Serena Williams. But you're thinking about top 5 because golf is worldwide. Tennis is worldwide. As big as Tom Brady is in the United States, he doesn't play in Africa and Asia, like Tiger does in Serena. LeBron goes around the world, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, they play around the world. Lewis Hamilton, Formula One, certainly plays maybe most places, but the United States, but he's a big deal, Formula One driver, but you're thinking, you know, how many, how many athletes can you say? Famous around the world. Muhammad Ali was famous around the world. Tiger certainly was, it feels like Muhammad Ali was the first athlete I remember. Being in covering, but remember that it was global. And I'm trying to think who else because the heavyweight championship, you know, that you'd fight all over the world. Tyson was big, I mean, he was more famous because he wasn't a great fighter. He was, he was one of the most entertaining fighters, but Ali was, like, we'd never seen that. Like, wait, he's making fun of his opponent. He's saying when he's going to knock somebody out. That's why when I hear trash talking, I go, no, no, no, no. Stop. Stop. That's trash talking. Ali, Jordan was global. Jordan still is global. Because now it's products. Yes. And I feel like Muhammad Ali, the trash talking was even better because the opponent, what do you guys do? You punch each other in the face. I'm gonna talk all this mess about you. And you're trying to punch me in the face. And he still did it. I think Ali invented trash talking. I'm trying to think of anybody he certainly mastered it. I don't know if anybody did that before. Yes, he. Or at least made it such a dominant part of their persona. Right? But he would make up poems. And his opponent would be right there and he'd be making fun of them. And then saying, when I'm going to knock you out, we get guys who say stuff, we go, that's bulletin board material. Like Ali would probably laugh at what Baker Mayfield is alleged to have said. But Ali went into those press conferences. And he created something. That's when a press conference really meant something that you knew something could happen. Something was going to be said. You didn't know if punches were going to be thrown, but you knew that Ali was going to entertain you. And unfortunately, I would certainly for my career that I started covering one of the first stories I covered in New York was when Muhammad Ali was diagnosed with Parkinson's and he was in a hospital in New York. And we were trying to get information on this. And so I was around Muhammad and his wife, Lonnie, and I remember being at the espys, and I think Keith olbermann and I, we have a picture with Muhammad and I think we gave them our seats because we had better see them all in Ali did with his wife. And I think Keith and I were like, you should be sitting here, we'll sit there. And I remember we took a picture with Muhammad Ali. And then I was involved in Fight Night in Arizona where he was honored. But he wasn't really speaking at the time. So I missed out on having a conversation with him, but he was still, he loved practical jokes. I don't know how we got into Ali and I know we're talking about famous people Tiger and Serena, but I just still, every athlete should be indebted to Ali when it comes to entertaining and I'm not saying trash talking because it's not for everybody. And he certainly said some

"Okay, you know, Juan Soto and I heard buster only say over and over again during the Met's Yankees game that was aired on ESPN the other night, TJ. Just think about Willie Mays and his prime. Think about Hank Aaron in his prime, thinking about all that. I'm like, okay, it's crazy to think. That's absolutely. And why wouldn't you want to trade your top prospects except for the fact that he might leave you in two plus years when his contracts up and Scott Boris is saying I want all the money in the world. Ohtani can do what Soto does with the bat in a way, right? Can't do what he does on the mound. No. Nobody like, okay, you want my top four prospects for him? Sure. Yes. Like I said, after some old Hall of Famers in, if you want? Yeah. Could you imagine this guy in Yankee Stadium? Why would you say that? Imagine him playing for the mets. New York city. Because he's greedy. He's very greedy when it comes to. Could you imagine him in Fenway Park? No, I could not imagine. I don't think he would enjoy Boston then. But how do you guys not think about Babe Ruth here? You don't want to, this is like, this is the beginning of the curse. Of course. You don't want to trade away Otani. But what you even do with them, Susie, the angels have pretty much my trout should be the most one of the most recognizable and famous athletes on this planet for as great as he is. Nobody knows who might trout as which is a shame. It's a nightmare. It's almost like they're wasting some of the greatest baseball that we've never seen because no one's watching it. So they lost two zero to the rangers last night. No, tani, ohtani struck out double digits for the 6th straight time. Last guy who did that in Major League Baseball was 2019, Garrett Cole. And so ohtani, you can't even quantify what is contract should be when you can't even quantify because you can't compare a guy who can, I think I saw, I'm gonna botch it, but whatever, which is by the way, words that should never be said by somebody who's professional facts there. I saw a statistic that I think ohtani leads the league in batting average with runners in scoring position and leads the league with best batting average against as a pitcher with runners in scoring position. So in other words, he's got the best at knocking in a run when you can, and the best at preventing you from getting on base with runners in scoring position is a pitcher when you can. Get out of here with that. I mean, how do you put a price tag on that? So for Yankees, top four prospects, whoever, whatever they are, whoever they are, the answer is you bet. What else do you want? And if you are the Yankees and you mentioned Ruth, call somebody on Broadway and say, can I sell your production as well? Because let's do that. He's the modern day Babe Ruth. Let's figure out, what are you, you know, I don't know. Is wicked still on Broadway? I don't know. You've been on Broadway more recently than I am. Somebody had to get Phil Nevin on the line. And if he doesn't get on the line soon, I'm going to start telling Phil Nevin's story. Careful. There's a threat there. Well, Phil is, you know, the interim manager. And so I think everything is completely up in the end. The whole thing, the whole damn thing is interim. And to your point, if you're going to trade away Shohei Ohtani, just close up shop, just close it up. Just figure it out, close up shop. Why would you, why would you want anybody to come to your stadium if you're like, we have easily the most unicorn of unicorns and maybe all of sports, wait hold on a minute. If we're talking international, all of sport, sport. And we're so bereft of opportunity in a plan or whatever and yeah, we've shown you we'll pay the money to trout, don't forget. Before Soto and at the same time, I think is Harper, Anthony Rendon was sent away by Washington or he left Washington and he's now here as well. Those are three guys that if they're healthy and they can't damn it, stay healthy for them. You know that kid Wall Street? They have some pieces around there. What the hell? Why would you treat them? He's going to be a free agent at the end of next season. He's probably going to leave. I don't know. I don't know about that. He apparently loves it out here. I'm just going to say this. Billy eppler, the metro GM is the one who was responsible for tiny being with the angels. He was with the team when Otani came over, he just wanted to make the call. He helped sign him. Now he's the metro GM. I'm just saying. You want to get used to life, TJ, the way rich is used to life as a jet span. Oh boy. You're not going to win. It's cute. Your little mets relationship. But it's okay. You're not going to get oh Tommy. Even

"And clearly, if he comes out and he torches the place, it'll be, well, this pissed him off or this lit a fire or what have you. And if it doesn't, it'll be what's going on. With him in Arizona and this will be a question for him and it's not fair and it really is, you're hearing from everybody, whose fault is it? Well, somebody had to tell the owner that his study habits were not up to snuff. And somebody had to tell the lawyer of the Arizona Cardinals come up with this and then somebody had to inform the agent of Kyler Murray's that it's in there and then Conor Murray's agent had to inform Kyler Murray and his response may have been school. What do I care? It's 46 million bucks. I'm going to turn this thing down. Over this, when I do it anyway, or I think I can do it anyway, or it doesn't matter. I'll do it. It was either stupid or brilliant. Somebody either lit a fire. I do believe that the line that was in the statement about they didn't intend it. They didn't intend it for it to be public, and they didn't intend it to embarrass him, and they intended it to actually put into the contract something that when they were going to put all of this money into escrow and cut this check significantly, they just wanted some sort of a backstop, some sort of a safety net, something in the language of the contract that can make the owner feel comfortable, stroke in that check. Yeah, I mean, clearly, there was there there. I mean, there was a reason why they did this. It didn't just appear out of thin air. You don't just write a clause like this. If you're not concerned about it. Now, what comes next is for toe meeting ball and we're excited to see that. But in the meantime, suz, I think you and I could agree on behalf of all parents everywhere. "I was busy preparing for the show. Here it is. You want me to walk it over? Yeah, walk it over to your wife. I sat down, I started already, you know? That's not a good look, rich. Thank you so much. She stomps around. Greg's real. She likes stomping. She's a stomper. All right, so now we could start the show. There we go. DJ Mikey D is in Dee's nuts. Again, 12 straight shows a Cal Ripken. Instead of the Lou Gehrig that got broken up yesterday, good to see you, Jason fellow. TJ Jefferson, do you got something like the candle? You don't have something like the camera. Hey, mortimer, we're back. We're back. We got the new book. We had two very good shows without a lit candle. Yankees. Did the mets win last night? We had an off day. Oh, okay. Went to west and reward ourselves. So let's get things started on this program with a reversal. Going back in time. As many parents know, when they try to tie their children's allowance to their study time, it's usually sometimes a two steps forward one step back process. Hey, look, if you get your iPad time, that means that you have to do your work first. And thus, if you don't, do it, you don't get an allowance. Sometimes one step forward, two steps back. Well, the Cardinals found that out themselves with the independent study clause that we've been talking about all week. That came out of absolutely nowhere because the whole conversation that began, I still have it on my desk. With this piece of paper, the treatise from the agent of Kyler Murray that was disseminated worldwide, but specifically at the folks of the valley, put it in the Hall of Famer. Right there. Now the valley, the San Fernando valley. I'm talking about the valley of the sun. Specifically saying severe quarterback and things aren't going very well with the Arizona Cardinals. You've got to wonder when Kyler scrubbed his account. Was that them saying, hey, I think, you know, that whole business with the rams that where you threw a two yard pick 6 and it looked pretty ugly. Maybe you should study more. And he's just like, I'll show you all my photographs off of Instagram. And that's how they knew you spent it. Man. Who knows? All of that. But finally, he gets the contract. He's generationally enriched. There's a ton of money that comes in the conversation here is does he deserve it? Because he hasn't won a playoff game. And he's only had three years in the league. He's now getting paid more than Josh Allen, who damn well near made the Super Bowl last year. They could only have defended for 12 more seconds. And so on and so forth. Skipping over the fact that it was an AFC championship game in Joe burrow was standing there. But neither here nor there, I think you all understand. That it was all about him finally getting paid until what came out was an independent study clause where clearly the team felt it needed to place in black and white codify, if you will, him doing the extra work that every other star quarterback in the NFL, we assume just does, including him before this stuff came out. Well, there was a big to do on this program, other programs that Kyler Murray felt compelled to go out to a microphone and address himself. And we thought he did a very good job of that yesterday. Don't you think? A very much so. Where he's essentially saying, hey, look, if you think I've gotten to this point in my career, just winging it without a work ethic at my size and my shape, you know, and he also threw in there in the Oakland a's drafted me top ten, and I'm first overall in the NFL. Nobody's ever done that. If you think I've just been winging it, just surfing my way through all this, then I appreciate the compliment, but it's also very insulting. Well done. Yeah, I mean, you know, message received clearly in the front office of the Arizona Cardinals, because lo and behold, run around dinnertime yesterday. They took the claws out of the contract, ripped it up. See ya. After seeing the distraction it created, we removed the addendum from the contract. It was clearly perceived in ways that were never intended. Our confidence in Kyler Murray is as high as it's ever been and nothing demonstrates our belief in his ability to lead this team more than the commitment reflected in this contract. It's like, yeah, do you see how much money we're paying them? Got it. But what's the ways in which it was intended? What are the ways in which it was intended? That scared me. The audio executive is not assuming that somebody was going to rip a paper up into my account. But well done, TJ, that's what I ended up. I don't know if they did rip it up, or in this day and age, you just remove it from a PDF. I'm wondering, I bet you he had a sign another version of the contract. Probably, right? Yeah. We're going to send one over to you. Can you sign it again and send it back? Because you can't take something out of something that's already been signed. You don't want to that's why there are lawyers. I'm not one of them. My brother sometimes is listening right now going to work, driving to work. So maybe he wants to text in. I'm assuming he probably, look, the bottom line is he's just got to win football games and if rubber meets road this year next year at any point in time where he's not performing well and we're all in the media talking about this sort of thing and it does bother him and at some point he will sit back and go, well look, Michael bidwell, the owner who had to have been the one who either insisted it gets in there or was somebody who when told about it that it's in there said, okay, put it in there. And somebody had to inform him because I'm assuming he is not in meeting rooms. He is not strolling around in film rooms. He is not going around the practice field, you know, locked in on every snap. Somebody ought to tell him, hey, Kyler study habits are not up to speed. You know, and somebody had to tell him that. So this thing had to appear in this contract. It didn't just come out of thin air. And at some point down the road, rubber meets the road. Will this chafe at Kyler Murray? Will he not sign a second contract? I mean, this is all for down the road. And this is now what's going to be sitting out there forever more the famed independent study clause of the last week of July of 2022. Who will never forget that? We'll always remember it. Where we were when we first learned that Kyler Murray signed something in a contract that sounded like a contract suit that you and I come up with for our kids. At home, honestly. I was honestly thinking to myself. Yes. Not familiar with the kid who doesn't try hard at all. And then gets a's and you have to give the iPad back that you took away because the kid's not trying hard at all. Don't we have to wait and see what happens with Kyler with this contract before we worry about the next conch? Well, it's going to be more of the first half of this season where this is coming home to roost. Because there's no Deandre Hopkins for the Arizona Cardinals. He suspended for this first 6 games. And so the success of this team and potentially its viability as a playoff threat in the second half of the season is going to be borne out of a lot of Kyler Murray, shouldering the burden. With this as a backdrop

Thank you so much for letting me offer this up for a fantasy football team. Okay. Whatever. Yes, sir. Are we sniffing an Emmy? Sniffing and Emmy. Okay. It sounds a little bit creepy. It sounds a little bit creepy. Not gonna be honest with you. Oh no, it does. That could be. You know? I mean, stand-alone, not good, not good. But hold on a minute, no, no, no, no, no, Jimmy. Many of our fantasy team names that get written down by Chris brockman as he just wrote that one down. Are done without any context and when we come back around to choosing our team name for football season, we sometimes are like, what the hell was that all about? Because Chris just writes down the names, he never writes down the context. The next one can be the heel wins because the heel of the bread, we used to steal that in college when someone would bring them the bread loaf. Yes, we would take out the heels, both back and front. And stash them so that nobody got the heel because we thought that was the best part of the bread. Right? Yes. Where would you hide such a thing? Wow. And you had the next day. Okay. Wow. So just to go full circle, you stole the heels win on the bread, but the fact that the heels lost on Monday night was celebratory moment in San Antonio because Eric church canceled his concert there. We were throwing, we were throwing tamales in the air and yelling jayhawks. Thank you. Thank you for the call. Thank you for the call. "I didn't know that. Thank you. Seriously, I've been off my phone all day. I was on my thank you. No, yes, and I was FaceTiming it's me you Reese and van pelt who's there at Augusta with you. Well, congratulations to you. I appreciate that. Thank you. I appreciate it. And where is EJ nominated up here? Yes. Yes. That's great. Yes, Ernie, Ernie is nominated and so. Hey, congratulations. Thank you. We all work together probably for what? Probably 8 years. Oh, yes. Absolutely. Yes. It is and I love you, Mike to RICO. I appreciate it. All right. We're good. Thank you, Mike. Appreciate you. Take care. Oh, you gave me a content. Content going out the door. We're here for. Okay. Take care. Right back at you. This Mike tirico, everybody. That was great. How about that? Somebody answered me. Somebody answered? And didn't know. And we broke news. Hey. And out the door. Justin Thomas. You got your top 5 masters moments coming up. That has nothing to do with on the list. Who I'm going to be talking about. Yeah, not to do with anything but Tiger. You got the top 5 masters moments. All right. He didn't know. He didn't know. He's like, why are you congratulations? Thanks for answering Mike. I think the random FaceTime works. Why isn't that's another question for Ernie? I know. What the no FaceTime? Is it because he might not have an iPhone? Is that what it is? Yeah, I don't think he has an iPhone. I don't know. And he texts me. I don't get like the green. It's not green. When you text him? By the way, that upsets me what happens. When I have there's a text change with all my high school buddies and we all got iPhones except for one guy and it really is just by the way I don't include him on texture. What are we doing? I don't know why is that fair? That's unfair. Totally fair. Just get the iPhone. Come on. This is great. Isn't it amazing? We get nominated for an Emmy. Now we've given up on the content. It's like, we don't care. It's house money. We're like FaceTiming people. We're talking about food. This is content. You didn't abandon content. We're creating to create content. No one else has done that on the show. Billy and Avon, Ohio, let's take it. Billy, did I say writers, it's Avon, right? That's what I got. Yes, sir. What's going on? Billy, what's on your mind? Well, I'm worried, rich. Why? You know, if you don't win the Emmy? Yes. You don't please don't go NBA star and demand a trade. I don't believe the fellow crew members and your fellow nude mix there. Please don't make a move to the nets or perhaps force your way to a different team. I think you've got to stick it out long term and hopefully bring it home one day, much like LeBron eventually helped us here in Cleveland. Okay. I just don't want you to go pointing fingers, demanding a trade and then getting a back spasm and sitting out at your new location. I really want you to stick it out with the guys that brung you. You know what, Billy, I greatly appreciate you with that sentiment. We've already created the super team here. As you know, that's the way we feel about it right here on the rich eisen show. So am I the LeBron of this analogy? Well, you are having the time of your life. Definitely. It wouldn't be till twofold for Christ's sake. Okay. Who's the Vera zhao in this equation? Anderson varejao reference. Strong. I caught you. I caught your flag footed there, Billy, huh? I caught you flat footed there. Yeah. Okay. I mean, it teaches the only one with hair, so. That's true. I'm not tarik or not knowing. Oh my God. Stay strong, rich. Right back at you. Thank you. I appreciate that. Thank you. Well, he's at Augustus, so he's just being respectful. No phones. They do. You're not allowed to have your phone when you walk the grounds. They do take it from you. And we just get them in trouble. He was probably. He wasn't at August. But there are no phones on the ground, so. So that's why van pelt's not in part three is going on right now. Yeah, I know. He's working. Yeah. Well, he's walking around. I mean, please. Can you imagine you're there at a hello? Hello? I can't hear hold on. Let me put them in my mind. Hold on a minute. Rich, is that you? What? What's the worst thing you could do with the masters? Hello. That's it. Not what I thought it was. That worked out though. What is that labeled, by the way? Hello, Ross. I thought it was Vin Scully. That's on me. Rossi intern. Yeah. But it worked there. Very good, guys. Well done. Content. Very good. Hold on, deebo Samuel's trading is trending. I don't know what's happening. You said trace. I know why he's trending. By the way, Stefan Diggs, DK Metcalf. I mean, pardon me. Depot DK Metcalf, AJ Brown. Oh God. Congratulations to you guys. You have now, I mean, the market's been Devante Adams, tyreek hill, and Stefan Diggs have made a lot of money for those three wide receivers when it's their time. That happened today. Oh, big time. And, you know, it's interesting. The chiefs and the packers are going the young route instead of paying top dollar top premium, although you could say that they offered it to devonte Adams and Adams rejected it in the long run. And that's just a fact. I mean, this tyreek hill dolphins no longer on the chiefs, who the chiefs are going to draft. Again, that's still an open question. Once the draft is over, that is going to be without a doubt, a top 5 NFL 2022 season storyline. How good are the dolphins going to be? Mike mcdaniel and his new first gig as head coach there. How it's been totally remade there. And what this means for the chiefs and how good are the chiefs going to be. Common, big time. That is already, you could lock that in as a top 5 storyline arc for the entire season. Coming up an hour number three of the program, what is it like down the street at Lakers headquarters today, the day after they have been freshly eliminated from a season in which they entered as NBA.

"It really runs like a dream. So what do you say? Head to that Mercedes Benz van dealership near you and get the sprinter. Tell them your dream sent you. Right here on the rich eisen show. It's been a while since I've driven across country, but you know, that was a great chat with Luke fickle. I just thought that was just a genuine, Cincinnati's got themselves a winner. This just in. Man, Cincinnati football is kind of set for a while. Don't you think? They're on the map now. Dude, the Bengals made the Super Bowl with the fourth youngest team in the NFL last year. And they got better in the last two weeks. They got better. In the last two weeks, I just repeated that to just remind everybody. And now here comes the draft. Something that they've been pretty good at, by the way, in recent years. Which is just like, what? You can't be but is this team? You can not be bad at the draft and make the Super Bowl with the fourth youngest team in the NFL. No, no, definitely not. Definitely. And the Cincinnati bearcats just made the final four. And they're sending in my mind a top 5 prospect of the NFL. And many evaluators are saying Desmond Ritter is the guy. And maybe that's who Seattle's interested in. Maybe that's who New Orleans is interested in. Maybe that's who Pittsburgh might be interested in 20th overall, although hearing Pittsburgh talk about Malik Willis. That might be a good spot right there. They might have to move up. So I saw this tweet yesterday. This went viral. You know how somebody people send out a tweet that involves a movie or a take or this or that and respond with your opinion of it. So there was a tweet that was sent out somebody says that I don't know who this person is to be honest with you. If I had to guess, it was popped into my timeline by Rex Chapman, who's here. He hits the retweet and it ends up in your thing. Pop it up. Mike Hoskins, the tweet is we're canceling each other over food takes today, post your cancellable food take. So your food take that would make you have people say you're canceled. Because it's such a terrible take. I love that food. You don't like it? Or you like that food? I hate it. You should be out. Right. So I wrote the ends of bread are the best slices of bread, which is something I've been counting the table before, as you know, for almost 8 years. I didn't know until last year when we talked about this, that they're called the heels, the heels, but the loaf. I'd never heard that before. But the best slice of bread. Best slice of bread. That's pretty hot. Is the heel of a bread. I had it today. And I save it for last. Right. I save it for last, not because the middle of the bread is, the middle of the bread is kind of like an everyday bread. It's a go to bread. It's an everyday bread. Obviously, there's more of those slices than any other. Yeah, but the two in the middle is just like, oh, you get that fresh loaf. You make a sandwich. The two on the end. The heel of the heel of the bread is like a plate. It's like a plate. It truly is, you can put more stuff on the heel of the bread. It holds better. It holds better. It's like a shelf. Here it is. You know? You got to check it though. What do you mean? That's the last one. You got to make sure there's no mold. Yeah, that's true. At least in my house. It's a little disorder. What does that mean? You don't have a vetting process for any old slice of bread. I take a look at every slice of bread. You just figure it out. What do you mean? You got to take a look at it. He's right. I own a mold company. I was just making a what's your point, what's your food today? I have a few. I am in no coffee, never had it. So I'm anti coffee. I literally just took a sip of my coffee. My coffee. I get it. You were talking about it. I'm team T, I'm also no sushi never had it. What? So those are my two big ones what do you mean you've never had sushi? Never had sushi. Ever. Raw fish is baked. So is it a. It's a texture thing. It's a texture problem. It's not appealing to me. So a couple of summers ago. What's your take on sushi then? It's bait, where sushi is baked. This is your take. Crawfish is bait. Okay. By the way, I want more. If people want to call in and give me theirs at 8 four four two O four rich number to dial, we've got the real estate for you on the next half of this. What about you? What about you? I'm with the brockman. I have been here 20 plus years in Los Angeles. I've been to some of the finest sushi restaurants in town in abroad. At sushi is not my deal. Have you gone to a sushi place with Ashton? Is that what you're saying? More than once. Demeaning to me like sushi. I mean, that's how long it might be that he's been going to sushi with Ashton. But no, I'm not a great great, was that a play on Broadway sushi with Ashton? Know what it is? We got to wait for Hamilton to make its run before we can take back the rich sushi. Come on, give me a better one than that. All my Friends know, that's my thing. What is your favorite food then that my people might say is, see, the thing is despite my size, I'm very basic when it comes to food. I don't like a lot of stuff. I like steaks and hamburgers. Like a well done steak guy, 'cause that's pretty hot. I used to be, but I'm like a medium. But I'm just a meat and potatoes type guy, really. I'm just very basic. Vegetable, right? Yeah, that is insane. That's crazy. Never had a green never eaten anything green. Nothing green. That's hard to believe. And he made his late 70s. How does he live so long? God bless him. He's never had a salad, like, are you buying it? I have had, I've been in the same way that you've been to many sushi dinners with Ashton. You put the Ashton thing in there. Susie and I have been very fortunate to have. Many a dinner with Allen Linda Michaels. Two of our favorite people in Los Angeles, California. And you've never seen a green bean. I've never seen him eat it. Wow, ever. So when his steak comes, it's literally just a slab of meat and maybe a potato. Oh, not maybe. Okay. And how's he doing his steak? How does he do this? How does he take this? I think he's like medium rare, medium rare. Is this now when we call out? Not only is this, you're an Emmy nominated show host. I'm assuming he was as well. I didn't see who was nominated for play by play. By the way, beginning of the show when you were telling us that we'd been nominated for an Emmy and that you'd been nominated for an Emmy and you guys were going down the list of thanking people. My mom sent me a text, okay? And she pointed out something that we all completed forgot. My mom sent me a text and it said, tell him, don't forget about Susie. When you were listing everyone who sat in and been on the show, hosted the show. So my mom's a Susie fan. None of this happens without the support of Susie Schuster. And I mean, she was in that chair last year, but she's got the best mom ever. And Ryan leaf does a great job here. Dan Helen was in last 6. None of this happens without the support and advice and production.

"So since then, he's the pick against the Vegas team that feels better with car. But offensively, there's still a lot of weird things. And it would just really probably come down to the ends trying to get pressure on burrow, who not only gets sacked a lot, but I think tries to keep plays going longer. We're I think there's over the course of the game. There's always a few that are on borough. Philadelphia at Tampa, Tampa huge favorite in this one, and I'm gonna tell you why, 'cause Philly hasn't beat anybody good. They just haven't. The Philly story is nice in that ciriani and everybody figured out who they weren't after a month of trying to throw the football all over the field, which didn't really make any sense. They shifted things, you know, I don't know the exact date where they became really run heavy and actually Tampa, who statistically has held up really well against the run over the last couple of years. They've been leaking a bit there now. So that's something to pay attention to. Weapons wise, you go, okay, how healthy are all these guys? And now with no Antonio Brown, who, by the way, all of you that had an open mind about Antonio Brown. I don't know what the number is. I don't know the percentage. You feel like that mine is a little less open now as we get more info. The guy went to the bucks and asked for his bonuses to be paid up front that he hadn't gotten yet. So there's rumblings that he kind of knew he was going to bounce no matter what. I just think, I don't know. A lot of this stuff is very predictable. It's like, well, the Aryans may have to. We may have to see what Aryans has to say. You know what? Aaron's really wants to say, this guy was a pain in the ass. He didn't get his bonuses because he was suspended because he had a fake vax card and the team still kept him on the team because Brady wanted to keep him. Brady wanted to keep him. And Antonio Brown goes on a podcast where we should all aspire to be a little tougher questioning than purple vest guy. But it just as we get more info, I just wonder the people that were like, wait a minute, this may not be all on me. Is it really? Okay. All right, so Philadelphia, here are their wins to go 9 and 8. And I'm just going to go over the last whatever. I could pull it up again here if you want to to make sure we don't leave anything out. All right, this is my concern with Philadelphia. They're wins. Washington, the Giants, Washington at the jets, the saints, the Broncos and the Lions. And then before that, it was the Panthers. And when they beat the saints, they beat Trevor simian. Their own 6 against the playoff teams. So if you look at every team, every playoff team against other playoff teams, the eagles haven't beaten any of them. There's zero and 6. So I like the story. I like the hertz turnaround. I like the coaching. Part of this we're syriana just get dumped on because he was a little uncomfortable in a zoom intro, press conference, but. I can't bite into a team where I go, you know, there's a little Miami in there where Miami starts off one at 7 and then they have that winning streak and everybody's like, this is amazing. Is it? I think it's okay sometimes to point out every now and then and be like, you kind of snuck in there a little. And that's what I think Philadelphia did. It's kind of like that split college football conference where one division you're like, wait, that team won the division? Well, how did it play? Well, they didn't have to play anybody good on the other side and then the back end of their thing was terrible, and then they got the good teams at home. Boom, ten and two. Like, okay, next game, forty-niners Dallas, Dallas favored by three, I was going to do one of those generic who has the most pressure on them, which break the quarterbacks and who has the most pressure. And I started thinking about Dallas and I went, you know who doesn't have any pressure, it's Dallas. Think of it this way. Everybody thinks Mike McCarthy already stinks. DACA paid, Zika paid and the only situation he would have been paid, the roster's pretty good. The defense of players are young, they just got there. And all the public money, you want to talk about the bills being the public favor, this isn't even close. The niners are getting 80% of the public money. 80% that's a big number. So nobody thinks Dallas is even going to cover and you're basically picking San Francisco because you feel good about that rams win and. So I'm going to pick Dallas at home in this because everyday is ten at three against the spreads best in the NFL this season Garoppolo who is lighting up the completion percentage the deal is still turning the football over a little bit. San Francisco will get their left tackle back from Williams for this one. I really think that the public response to how San Francisco closed the season has kind of changed them into this darling, where I think Garoppolo very clearly is going to be somebody who capable of a nice game here or there and then we'll remind you why the niners moved up to.

"Hi coach normally. We do this before you've had a practice. Obviously you've had a few give me sort of a top to bottom assessment of how the first few days of camp what we got to the point where this is to me. Sometimes the toughest day camp and people would say. Well you know these second weeks toughest but really i think day. Four day five usually the toughest day just because you're not into a routine yet and Those first few have really getting acclimated to to play in the game. The difference that that the emotions bring to it and how tired you can be So we've done a good job. I mean we're we're in a much different place in. We're in the first four years. And i mean that guys are coming back in high end a lot. Further along offensively and defensively so You know the expectations are completely different. But our guys have been challenged greatly. have had the ups and downs but of responsible. I've got to thank. You could probably reflect on this from your time as a player you get started. You're gung ho. You're ready to go couple of days in that season. Opener is still so far in the distance as a coach. It could be a challenge to maybe stave off redundancy stuff like that. Yeah i think that's the great thing about being out here. I think you got a real plan for the time that you're out here and it doesn't change a whole lot where i think back when you're on campus for trying to do camping a lot still distractions around your so I think the great thing about it is is being out here. There's not a whole lot of other things to do There is a little bit for us this year. A break as we come back to go to school a week before the season will start so It gives us an opportunity. I think to not start to look at that first game as it gets tough. You really start to look at. Hey our time out. Here is so different Let's make sure we're using it in the right way. And i think our guys are handling it well. Continuity is a word that often is used to describe this program from the coaching staff to the quarterback so many players have been a part of of so much success here. How does that pay off during this month whether they realized that It's nice and those guys that Really started the continuity and struggled in your one that they know this is. What would it really takes. You know those guys were hearing. Your one realized that you know. They worked hard In they went out there and they didn't reap the rewards you know even they didn't work hard But the ability to do things together and how we started doing them in found better ways of doing them Really kinda start out here so those guys have been the example. They understand that they they can talk to the young guys about it And when they believe that this is kind of a difference maker for us It it it goes in permeates a lot faster through the locker room when it's coming from them how how central to that has been dead this year. He's even he's big even for the defense. Because you know where we've got a lot of guys like maget sanders and darren. Beavers curtis brooks mark. A lot of guys are back in the head. Played a lot of football they need to be challenged. And it's tough when you can dominate. In a lot of situations you know But with what does is doing over on offense and his leadership Those guys are completely different to so for us in the big picture. It puts a lot of pressure on the defense. And i think that's the great thing that we've got going for the defensive guys that have killed gig a little complacent i'm not saying they would but just by nature day four day five day six as as As we have seen in the past few camps near the defense is a little bit ahead of the offense years prior That's saying you get complacent but you relax a little bit. And we're offenses with desmond. Ritter now is really. Put a lot of pressure on the defense. It's talk about that defense. When you have so many players we've had so much success. Returned your background being a defensive guy and a new coordinator what does the collaborative effort look like getting that university for the season well. I don't think it changes much. I think the unique thing. I'm i'm lucky to have a relationship with mike known him well for a long time and have shared ideas over the years so we were pretty much on on a very similar page but I think it's been good for our guys more than anything because they've got a little different view. They've got a little different voice a little different way of doing things Which i think challenges us challenges me. You know to to step back and kind of let him add his little twists the things that he does and the way himself other for all of us. It's it's helping us grow and it'll pay off the loan you've got some things to figure out on your offensive line. How's that going. I think we gotta figure out. It's just. I usually come out of camp. Say hey we gotta find our best five guys and get them into positions and now. I'm saying we gotta find our best eight guys and we have never had a opportunity where we think that you could play more than five or six guys and what we have coming back. Yes we got to challenge the tackles 'cause those two positions that guys haven't played a whole bunch but there's a lot of other guys that i think we can have some different mix and i think for the first time in my career i say we. I'm not sure we just going to lock him with five guys. I think you can play guys in. And i think we can be better because of it pretty much had to do that two years ago. You know just you. Had i think the first seven games like seven different combinations and so it's it's not like some of these guys don't have some experience doing that. Those those couple of years because weren't by choice injuries happen. Those things get thrown. I'm this is the first year i've said. Hey i don't know that we can't roll guards and roll. Maybe tackle maybe three guys. 'cause the guys deserve it. You know that we call one as in one season and in the long run. I think it makes us a better because if you do have an injury you're not you know you're not doing something new in there and i think you could stay fresher. It's even though the game has changed. People say it's spread out and it's throwing the football. It's it's not any different in there. Those guys take a beating in the more that You have to kind of us in there. I think the better going to be a long. give me. Give me a great on evan. Prater now in a position where he's a heartbeat away from playing. I mean i thought going into camp if you asked us what our number one objective as a whole program was to really challenge evan prater and find out what we've got and that's hard because he he's probably doesn't think he's got a chance to beat out desmond ritter but you never want to say you can't And you can sometimes get comfortable in that position and we've never had to put him on the hot seat and really challenging but So to be able to do that to take outs on. Because dez is such a competitor himself and he's a perfectionist and he wants more reps We're trying to find ways in this twenty some days here to to say when we walk out of this place. We got really know what. We've got in evan prater and to be honest with you in the first four days. He's he's showed us a lot more more fun doing this over the phone in your office or is your kids are trying to get your attention and you want to go eat lunch. Well you know because it worked at that over. But i think it's nice that you feel here what What the coaches voice sounds like after four days of practice. So i'm a little out of shape myself. Coach thanks pursuit..
