"Every day Kyle Freeland after the tough 2019 resolved to make himself the pitcher he was in the first several seasons of his big league career. Had a good starting getting the wind against the Rangers in the opening road swing of this season. How would he fare tonight? Well, we got an idea right from the first batter of the game. Lead baseball in stolen bases 32 swaying and of this down 30 Kyle Freeland comes back and strikes out Fernando Totti's junior. Iraqis would then take a lead that they wouldn't relinquish. In the bottom of the second inning. Joey Luke Casey worked around a couple of singles in the first inning. But the Rockies bottom part of the order, got it going in the second, Garrett Hampson and Chris Goings back to back singles and Drew Butte terror abroad. Hampson, home with a sacrifice fly always would score when there was a miscue on a pickoff play at first base after David Doll had singled. And the Rockies had a two to nothing advantage with Doll it third and Trevor Star. Excuse me, Doll. It's second and Trevor. Story at first, Charlie Blackmon continued. The second inning rally. Casey's Owen Curveball looped out pro far over his head drops into short, right center field. Home comes Dole Toe. Third Ghost story three. Nothing Iraqis. Charlie didn't crush it, but got enough of it. Toe loop it into right center. Wow!.

"The biggest factor in rising prices is sellers taking homes off the market during the pandemic, because they didn't know what was going to get what was happening that caused a price worth and it's something that I think about that people have their homes on the market all of a sudden. Well, wait a minute. Should we be selling our biggest asset for most people, right in the middle of the biggest, maybe period of uncertainty in our entire lifetimes? So there were 4076 homes for sale in San Diego County from June 8th to July 5th. That's a drop of 37% from the same time last year. But there is currently more buyers and sellers. And that's what causes home price up left reason There's more buyers and sellers is because home inventory I had an interesting talk with Marty. "Mike Pence today exuding confidence as the newly appointed head of the White House's Corona Virus Response Team we're ready for anything and president trump touted his second in command as being uniquely qualified for the job is really very expert at the field but the vice president's appointment doesn't inspire confidence among those who've investigated his management of medical crises by prison. Pence doesn't have a great track record when it comes to public health and his own state. Epidemiologist Greg Gonzales led a Yale University. Study of how pence managed two thousand fifteen outbreak of HIV in Indiana when he was governor the HIV virus had spread quickly in rural areas of Indiana among people. Who were reusing. Needles to inject opioids medical experts and law enforcement. Officials pleaded for pence to immediately. Start a program of Needle. Exchanges arguing that if people used new sterile needles. The state could head off the outbreak. But Gonzales says pence waited at least two months to even declare a public health emergency pattern of delay of Equivocation on what to do pence told the Indianapolis Star quote. I don't believe effective anti-drug policy involves handing out drug paraphernalia. The pressure mounted pence prayed on it. According to The New York Times then reluctantly agreed to the needle exchange program it worked the number of HIV infections decreased. But Gonzales says the damage had been done over two hundred people became needlessly infected with HIV. The needle exchange came too little too late but Indiana's HIV outbreak isn't the only instance where pence's judgment on medical issues comes into questions. In two thousand he wrote in an op. Ed quote despite the hysteria from the political class in the media. Smoking doesn't kill. He can be captured by his own interests or by political interests or as was the case with him by the money that came from individuals and corporations that don't want us to know that certain products kill Michael de Antonio Co author of a book on Pence says Pence's motivation to write that op. Ed could have been connected to his family's one time. Ownership stake in a chain of convenience stores called Tobacco Road which sold cigarettes when it comes to the corona virus. We're going to have to watch him carefully to see. If for some reason be it political or economic. He's going to go short on science and long on science denial. We contacted Mike. Pence's office to respond to the criticism of how he handled the HIV crisis in Indiana. They referred us to the office of surgeon. General Jerome Atoms. Who said he worked closely with pants in Indiana during that crisis Adams Sinn? Cnn a statement saying their efforts became a model for how other states responded to similar crises. And another former top Indiana health official referred to us by the White House called Pence's efforts in that crisis heroic and credited him with getting laws quickly changed to allow that Needle Exchange Program Wolf. We're following urgent demands for action from families to say Thirties in Montana. Aren't doing enough to solve the mysterious disappearances of more than two dozen native American women and girls are national correspondent. Sara side has been looking into this for us tell us more Sara Wolfe native American family. Say they're women and girls are going missing and turning up dead far more often than anyone has cared to notice until now. We visited Montana where the issue is particularly acute. Pollock housetops just found the exact spot where her daughter's body was discovered on this Cheyenne reservation. And I remember seeing Pitcher. All the sorrow and questions fled her mind. Why did her daughter walk away from a Remote House party in the dead of winter? Wearing no jacket. Why did it take so long to find her body which was discovered just a couple hundred meters from that same home? You do not believe this. Was Sheer Accident Gold. When she reported her daughter missing there was no amber alert and no immediate official search in the end it was community members not reservation police or FBI who found Henny Scott weeks later. The medical examiner determined she had died of exposure. Aided by alcohol found in her body was only fourteen because she was young and they didn't make it a priority eight months later another teenager from the same reservation disappeared. Eighteen year old K. Sarah stops pretty places. Went Missing in August. Two Thousand Nineteen. Her family says the Big Horn County. Sheriff's office made things worse not better. How hard was it to get them to act? The really didn't act on it. They said she's probably just out with her. Friends are case. Sarah had gone missing more than a half dozen times before trying to cope with a broken family and a difficult life on the reservation as her grandmother and legal guardian. Yolanda Frazier wants answers. What disturbs you about the investigation into cases Really lack of investigation. The sheriff's office did not return multiple emails and calls for comet. Unbeknownst to the family. Her body was found just days later. Still six months on K. Sarah's cause of death is listed as undetermined but suspicious. Sarah was one of twenty eight indigenous women or girls to go missing or be murdered in Big Horn County in recent years. Montana has the highest number of MMA w cases by state nationally Based on our data researcher Anita Luke Casey says the best numbers. She has show a terrible trend. The government doesn't even have a proper count of all of their cases. There's a lot of coverage of this issue that describes it as a mystery like we don't know what's happening. We don't know what's going on as if native women they're kind of like a rabbit in a magic act like we just mysteriously disappear and that's not real native. Americans make up six point seven percent of Montana's population but according to State Data Between Twenty Sixteen and twenty eighteen. They accounted for more than a quarter of the missing person reports. Montana's US attorney. Kirk Army was the only government official involved in some of these cases who spoke with us on the record. There is a serious problem with missing native Americans particularly native American women now. The families working together with activists maybe having an impact three task forces are now being set up a county state and the latest a federal task force ordered by President Trump. I think one of the real positive things being done by the White House Task Force is going to be. Try to provide some standardization like the rapid deployment teams. That can be brought anywhere quickly. Six months after K. Sarah stops pretty places was found dead a sixteen year old native. American girl was reported missing a van. She was riding in left her behind after breaking down authorities say Selena. Not Afraid was last seen alive here at this restaurant on January first. It took nearly three weeks to find her body. Which was three quarters of a mile to a mile away from here in a place like this authorities. Say One of their biggest issues and trying to find. Missing Indigenous People is the sheer fastness of the place and the limited manpower but in Celinas case. The initial response was totally. He alum flew their big high-powered drone. Over here we had a helicopter fly over. We had people walk in. This is all day one. The Corner Determined Selena died of hypothermia and sheriff's officials intimated the case was over but then the county attorney sent out a scathing rebuke saying. The investigation was open and active. Selena's family found themselves like the others mired in confusion created by officials in all these cases. The families have taken to the streets to express their frustration with local. Authorities Horn. Says she's hoping President Trump's task force will finally simplify all that I would say you're on the right track sir. You're on the right chop Selena's family happy about what president trump has done and those task forces we mentioned are only place though for a limited time and the families wonder if enough can be accomplished to save their girls before they are found dead while so said Sarah so glad. You did that report for us. Appreciate it very much Sarah cider reporting. There's breaking news just ahead. Stocks tumbled again is more economists. "Hello Richard the region we're back yeah are we back on you know we are we're back on and and Jenny Campbell and I were just sitting here talking about you know about social issues in Santa Fe Jenny is the chairwoman of the board at the looks fine on the plaza where we're broadcasting right now the lobby live on on the plaza to mouthful but is the beautiful Fred Harvey hotel like Ginny said there's been something on this corner before was a corner before there were corners like the seventeenth century but a hotel here for almost a hundred years ninety eight years they'll be celebrating a sentry in twenty twenty so you talking about your role here the role of the hotel in Santa Fe in downtown Santa Fe in an you know you I'm sure you have to prioritize your your your your job in where you're gonna pay focus on you know to look at all but I know the things that are really really important you are things like art are things like design or things like the cultural aspects of this hotel you're now the chair woman of the New Mexico tourism commission you've been a member for a long time but now you're taking over the reins on that and though it is not used as much as it should be in my opinion that is also kind of preserving promoting not just you know the beauty of New Mexico but the story good and bad of New Mexico in this culture when you look at the history of of the Fred Harvey hotels in the west and all of these divergent cultures the came together and at times clashed that is also part of the story it is it is it is definitely part of the funding from the data in you know seventeenth century and eighteenth century in the nineteenth century and then the Manhattan Project we talked about that earlier with a dozen and and and with that pulls over about Robert Robert Oppenheimer like basically lived here in this hotel how much of all of that every day impacts you well I think that I keep that in the back of my mind with almost every decision I make because I mean you're talking about our deep rich history but think about today I know I don't want to talk politics but well we're going to bother with part of the problem with the border in the migrants I mean a lot of our employees are from different countries right so some of that clash and some of that culture we're experiencing right now much less back in the Manhattan Project days are back in the Fred Harvey days and you know it's hard it you know staffing wise it's hard it's hard because a lot of error you know a lot of our house our staff is what we call back to the house on the dishwashers the housekeeper isn't really the backbone of the organization and to get you know it's there tough jobs and we're on twenty four seven you know when people want to take vacations on Christmas and new years in the holidays that's one where the busiest and so you know it from trying to get staff fainter to fill those jobs X. specially with the problems federally with the border and immigration it's getting harder and harder to fill those jobs and it's not just the farmers all of the hotels and hospitality here and so when I look at what thinking about what you're saying from Fred Harvey and from the Harvey girls which came into effect because the it was mainly of staff the Harvey hotels by African Americans and the wild west of town ways were not treating them right which is part of the initiative to bring in the snow the women from the west because the Fred Harvey figured that the cowboys would be more kind and sympathetic to these you know young women here which actually worked very well but when you think about that and then you think about I'm thinking about today of how did of course it is for us to replace some of our employees because of the immigrant problem you know when I and then I stop and think Richard in fifty years what's going to be the problem of the day still I mean because one of the things I'm trying to do with this building is going to be a hundred years old I'm trying to set it up for the next hundred years and thinking into the future and it's kind of is kind of wild to think about what what will be the issues then rather so you're exactly right this is been a melting pot it will always be a melting pot but the but the history the culture the art you know we own our own art collection I pray to god that it never gets old we've never sold any of our original pieces and we're still collecting and you know fortunately we've got about a three hundred fifty thousand square foot building so I can usually find of our son got us out of war on Wall for something or somebody that we really want to represent and show so but it is interesting to think about what's going on in the last hundred years and what may go on in the next hundred years and how to kind of set the business up to be successful because things are changing so quickly in terms of social media in terms of Airbnb he's you know life continues to evolve and change and even though we're going to be a hundred years you know I feel like find is going to be evolving and changing and in a good way you know not was throwing out the history and the culture by trying to really highlighted in that's one of our points of differentiation in the market is our history and our culture and art and so on I think you can be all that and not be old and not be stodgy and I think it you know are if you look at our marketing you look at our website you look at our guest rooms you know that I'm very proud of I I think a lot of it is cutting edge and it's interesting to think about in terms of a historical tower how much do you know we talk about you being the chairwoman of the Turks and Kurds commission now which is a statewide effort regional effort to to promote tourism across the state how much are you working with the other hotel years here in Santa Fe associations to promote Santa Fe smoked flies Santa Fe to promote the ski industry to promote the new outdoor recreation division I I think we we partner with everybody all the time with Santa Fe tourism and Randy Randall shops with trend Jim Trier the cabinet secretary of tourism and all the hotels you know what they say a rising tide floats all boaters and I would really we feel like that and when we oversell we've walked people and so we've we've had great relationships with their neighbors across the street I mean people are happy I'm not saying one out of each strong competitors because we do really compete for the market share we compete for rate but we all need to work together and I have at least amongst other owners in the other management leadership teams I have never felt like anybody is trying to be unethical or you know I really feel like it's a good hospitality team here in in in especially in the Santa Fe region current confidence in the economy of Santa Fe we are aware of I just left our budget meeting where we're in we're budgeting up for next year and that's budgeting up from an all ready record year I mean the father's been very very lucky and we've been building and building and building our rates in our revenue every year and so we wouldn't be budgeting up next year if we didn't have confidence now we are also going to take on some more renovation projects which will impact our revenues but that's our decision that's not a a market you know decision right and so yeah I it we're we're confident you know we also have retail tenant he's here and so I talked to them all the time on how their business is doing so it's not just hotel I think we've got a broader kind of look and you know they get scared from time to time but all of them or wanting to renew their lease all of them are still stable all of them are wanting to stay in business so I don't hear the gloom and doom that you think of with retail you know because of the Amazons on the world and the of the world and all the online stores you know people still are supporting the mom and shop stores at least in Santa Fe or at least downtown you talk about collected works who would think an independent locally owned bookstore and they're doing a great job of it's just like Luke Casey across the street Maloof all of our tenants rocky Gorman who was in earlier you know I think we'll still like talking and still like feeling infield protection try and they also know that if there's a problem that the Senate sleaze the stores will be there to back it up and support it so all right your forty five second message for the people Santa Fe for the holiday season I would say we are so grateful and lucky to live in a town like Santa Fe holidays are magical here basketball court in the desk morning groan worthy but also one of the simplest ways to share a moment with your kids what the buffalo say when he dropped his son off at school I son.
