"Chauncey billups. That's that's a tough one. That's a tough one. Pelicans i kind of feel like pelicans is probably were. He'll go Scott brooks i could honestly see scott brooks landing with mavericks. Why but i mean if you were to probe me a little bit more. It kind of feels like to me. You gotta have a coach. That's going to be able to pretty much fall in line and not really shake things up that i can coexists with. Luka doncic were primarily mark. Cuban and i just kind of feel as though scott brooks is probably that that yes man can still get a little bit of his shit in there but ultimately is that yes. Ma'am i kind of feel like scott. Brooks's maybe chauncey billups. Actually we are talking about chauncey billips. Rick carlisle carlisle stamping gundy. One of those two. I can actually see landing with the wizards weaver. Not one of those two. I could actually see landing with wizards Just look at the other teams again. Those are those are the main names. I want you guys to to home in on out of all the vacancies. And just some of those those those are the ones. I'm kinda really really home in on but we'll see what happens. Like i said this is going to be a very very interesting Nba off season. Will all of these names that That's running around and look not for nothing but not for nothing but a trainer. Things have fucking happen so lead wait-and-see mash ranger. Things have fucking happen but chauncey billips would be pretty damn good in washington to. I have to say he would be pretty damn good. I would not mind him. I think chauncey billips would fit that. Dc culture extremely. Well i could see him being very well. Beloved by dc and everything perfect. It'd be fucking perfect. I could actually see it..

"Knee and he's always had something something going on with him. So the timing of this. Although it sucks it's also landing connor ride as expected if you really kinda take a step back and think about it so hopefully they go on ahead no matter what happens going forward assuming assuming that the nets are able to make it. Pass the bucks. They go deeper into the playoffs. I say you go on ahead and just let him chill for the rest of the season. Just cuomo on What is it I was i a no no I put him in active. Yeah that's what i'm saying. I was trying to think of the proper term that they use but he pretty much. he's he's inactive. But then you look at what's been going on with some of these coaches that are now out of jobs at. I mean it's frigging crazy man. I mean where do you even start as far as the nba coaches. I may all right so look look at boston. Celtics all right. I mean if you're a coach and you're going man. What a great time to be landing with a really cool team. Boston celtics. no-doubt is is is pretty good but you also gotta look at dallas mavericks. He also got to look at the portland trail blazers. You know you got luc. The luka doncic damian lillard by you. Look at boston there. Jason tatum jalen brown. That's a damn good one two punch combination right there. Man a damn good one two punch combination. Look at that caliber of talent. The ages that you got going on their celtic scott that win now t mindset. That's going on to dow would be. That would be pretty good for for good land and spot there. That would be pretty damn good for coach there. But then you look at that. Look at dallas mavericks again. If you're a coach okay. You got coach luka doncic and luka doncic as we all have kind of been able to learn these past couple of seasons he can be a little bit of a of a drama queen behind the scenes. And all that so. That's one hell of a personality that you gotta try to do your best in. Make sure that you know you keep him satisfied in all that because he kinda has more stroke then the head coach may look look at that look at riccar. Lau rick carlisle was with the dallas mavericks for the longest time and then just out of the clear blue this week. Riccar allowed decides okay. I'm done. He had two years left remaining on his contract and he decides I'm done in when you hear about it. No he pretty much. He leads to be known. I decided to walk away. This was my decision so fact that he's putting it out and then then even more ice on the cake the fact that he says. Oh yeah. I'm very interested in in coaching In the nba. Okay so damn. Let me see if i got this straight minute. So not only. Were you just fed up with everything that was going on there with the dallas mavericks. luca not forget maverick's owner mark. Cuban missile cuban. I mean you think jerry jones is something mark cuban is just i mean he is he worse than daddy remember. P. diddy back in the day all video.

NBA Playoffs: Phoenix Suns Beat Los Angeles Lakers in Game 1

"Lakers phoenix suns with an emphatic. Ninety nine hundred game one win that they control from start to finish and you know what when we talk about the lakers. We usually get a lakers perspective. Someone from l. a. No two sons one game one. Let's get someone from phoenix. The first person. I thought it was the one and only eddie johnson. How are you sir day. I mean that's not being in the playoffs the so long. I can't even remember zach and i wake up this morning and we're gonna win the series. They can't be any better than this house. The arena. You know what i watch it on. Tv to be quite honest with you. I work i work so much is like when i get an opportunity to just listen to somebody else. Do a gain the replays. And everything i just feel like you know is so much more up close and personal for me but when i heard about buddies told me said it was just unreal eighteen thousand although they listed there's about ten six but it seemed like it was eighteen thousand so it was packed. Ready and people were partying outside so fun. Time right now saying we haven't experienced this long time. So we had a kerfuffle and ejection. Chris paul hurting his shoulder and and using a jump shot form. That was clearly not his normal form will have to monitor that going forward so it was an eventful game. The sun's sort of told the world. Hey we're here drayton. i'm here. i'm the. I'm the biggest guy in the floor. Andre drummond bigger than me. But i'm gonna play like the big sky devon booker. i'm ready you're gonna have to double me straight up hard double me like luka doncic. What surprised you about game one. What was something that stood out that maybe you didn't expect surprise me about the suns team. This is a team that i've been seeing all year long. I've been trying to convince the on. Tell them they are real deal. They are team. Personify one to fifteen. Every one of those guys are prepared. Money is a great job with them. They have confidence. they did. Not surprise me.

"Utah. Dallas luka doncic. Talking about those guys would pay to see well hill win and mvp down the road this one season. It's not it. He started slowly and his team suffered because of it but the mavs have won five straight. They're two games. Back from the sixty they toppled a jazz team. That couldn't hit a three and that was part of it for sure. They're kind of like the nuggets mavericks. Our team started slow. And here they come. They found her identity. A little bit without kristaps porzingis. Who was sitting this one out. They beat those utah jazz. It was an off night for you to snapping their streak. "Today. the tim kato on why. The mavericks have had such a roller coaster season but why they shouldn't be underestimated. They still have luka doncic. And if you're in a series and have the best player on the court and luca dodgers certainly has that ability. You always have a chance to win. The i'm under scotto. It's tuesday march thirtieth and this is the lead it felt like something great african emotion. Another past because you m seen. This isn't a story rear every the app athol it stays with you him. I wanted to start the story back in august of twenty twenty when luka doncic hit that epic game winning shot against the clippers. Down in the bubble i. Can you just help us relive that moment. Yeah lucas going to have so many moments in his career and if there was a first one there was one moment where you know. He put himself on that stage. You've got to play to make right now. This team wants a chance to win this ball game and say this is what i can do. This is the type of shots. I hit back to dodge dodgers pulls up three pointer. Good wins the game at the buzzer. Shot like this go back. All the way to his european career and even his rookie season with the mavericks. He was a clutch shot hitter. But you know to to hit a game winning. Walk off the floor. Layoff buzzer beater. That's something different starches. Masterpiece is complete. The mavs ended up losing that series to the clippers. But is it fair to say that. With the way that luca and the mavs played in that series that there was a new sense of excitement and possibility around this team. Coming into twenty twenty one. Yeah i think there was absolutely excitement that was generated from luca hitting the shot see did in having the season he

Rhinestone was only eaten the neck that day but he would be heading to the kentucky derby with a lot of questions surrounding for one thing. Rhinestone had only made five career starts. No horse had won the kentucky. Derby on five starts or less since brokers tip in nineteen thirty-three for another. He wasn't even necessarily the best in these trainers d wayne. Lukas would be sending record. Five horses to the derby and lucas himself was reluctant to rank one above another. There were skip away. Who had just set a stakes record in the bluegrass at keeneland. On the first saturday in may nineteen ninety-six. Rhinestone would have to overcome history. He would have to overcome highly talented and more experienced bows and he would have to make a furious. Run in the final furlong. But jockey jerry. Bailey had him in high gear. Dave johnson of abc sports with the goal of cracked late cabinet on the side of town. And here's optima to guide wasn't cabin on the inside was it baby. Mcquaid noted in the top urban grindstone and hit the wire together and it took five minutes for the placing judges to confirm the result of that photo. Finish but the winner of the one hundred twenty second run for the roses was grindstone. As one sports writer. Put it the kentucky. Derby distance is seventy nine thousand inches and by getting his nose in front of the wire grindstone had led only the final four but it was all that he needed five days later. Lucas announced that grindstone had been retired from racing. Following the discovery of another bone chip in the colts need may grindstone the first horse and seventy years to be retired immediately following win in the kentucky derby but he also has become the first horse in seventy two years to win both the louisiana derby and the kentucky derby he had won the first million dollar kentucky derby in history he had given lucas consecutive win and a triple crown race and he had made. Wt young kentucky derby winning owner and brief. I was never proud to stand next to mr young said lucas. Adding this is absolutely the happiest. I've ever been in my life. As a stallion grindstone would become the sire of belmont winter bird stone and the grand sire of classic winners mine that bird and summer bird following his stallion career in kentucky he would relocate to oregon and twenty ten where he would sire more stakes winners in the pacific northwest but the legacy of brian stone began twenty five years ago. World in much better place to fight desert locust scourge UNs FAO

"It's been described as a biological time bomb the worst upsurge in decades this time last year. Swans of desert locusts started to spread across countries in the horn of africa devastating crops and people's livelihoods. Fa yours emergency campaign appealed for urgent action to avoid a looming locust plague and humanitarian crisis. Now one year on. I'll we winning the fight. I put that question to senior locust. Forecasting officer keith pressman case when we spoke a year ago or it was just as the desert locust swarms with starting to invade the horn of africa. Could you briefly sum up the events of the last you well. A lot has happened in the past year. The last time we spoke a year ago swarms or just invading kenya in the horn of africa. They're spreading through other countries in the region. And since that time now there has been several generations a breeding. So what that means is that the locust numbers had just increased further and this is mainly due to exceptionally good weather. Conditions for the locus. The the problem did not remain only in the horn of africa but last summer there is a very important threat to west africa. Fortunately that did not occur but there was an additional extension of the current upsurge in southwest asia so in countries like iran pakistan and india. Fortunately the end of the summer. I very intensive efforts of those countries. The app surge was brought under control there but it still remains in the greater horn of africa. So that means them. Kenya's mali ethiopia dan and yemen. And that's that's what we're facing now again this year. And it's very interesting because you know when we last spoke a year ago. I mentioned swarms invading kenya. Well that's what they're doing again now and they started invading kenya from the north from eastern ethiopia from central somalia. I'm just before christmas and this was predicted so similarly to what happened last year again is not a surprise. We were expecting this and are we in a better position now. Are we better place to fight the desert lucasville. Much much better. You know last year at this time. We're in a very very precarious situation. We had you know. Huge numbers of locust swarms had developed and were moving in invading countries. That had not seen logos for seventy years. You know such as kenya other countries. That was a worse situation and more than a quarter of a century. They just simply were not prepared to respond to such a large scale invasion. They weren't trained. They had no resources. I'm no vehicles no spray equipment. No pesticides no aircraft. You know no logisticians. You know all of the elements components that you need in order to invoke control campaign so we were really. Let's say trying to catch up very quickly. We had no funding you know. Let's say desperate collectively desperate. I should say and the country's nfl. We're obviously we're scrambling doing the best. We could have that time but it was not enough we had to really really upscale and that's what's been achieved so now here we are in january twenty twenty one. It means we have everything in place. Yes we do have shortages of funding to keep those operations going in. This is extremely critical. But at least we're not at the stage of having to look for aircraft or having having to order equipment from abroad and wait for it to be delivered. All of the countries have those Elements in place. The faa ledge. Emergency response has seen incredible. International support including the mobilization of funds to tackle the small towns and prevent a humanitarian crisis always succeeding in the fight against desert. Lucas that show. We are succeeding. Yes if we had not been what we've been doing for the past year we would have seen a play by now. You know swarms from west africa to india from the equator to the mediterranean. We don't see that so. I think that that's confirmation that we are succeeding. We have probably less locust swarms than we did a year ago. A doesn't mean that you know we can sit back and relax but you know. There's a lot of work to do but i think the response as you mentioned from the international community has been exceptionally good globally. A more than two point. Eight million hectares retreated and twenty twenty. And that's an extraordinary achievement. These efforts of course they've saved enormous amounts of crop production an estimated two point seven million tons of crops or save last year. That's enough you know to feed eighteen million people for an entire year. The cost of that That was saved is something around eight hundred million dollars and you put that into balance with you. Know what did it costs to save that production we received last year. One hundred and ninety four million dollars so with that investment were able to save you know eight hundred million dollars or the food in additional able to to protect and safeguard one point two million households their livelihood. It's so you know our desert. Locusts extremely devastating. Obviously the response in the pasture has been exceptionally good. And of course you have to remember. We're competing against other emergencies. Such as covid nineteen indeed twenty twenty was a particularly challenging year. What can we expect for the will. The current upsurge continuing the problem. Is that the weather. Continues to favor the locus and you know. In the past locus upsurges lukas plagues they collapse because of two factors on because of the human intervention. You know the control operations everything that. We're trying to do to reduce locus numbers and a failure in the weather at and so far we're saying the former i'm we see those upskilled control operations working very well. I mean more than twenty one aircraft or an operation in eastern africa. But we haven't seen the break in the weather. We had again an extraordinary event last month in the horn of africa. Right exactly where the locust were we had a cyclone in december. Cyclones don't occur in the horn of africa december. But this is the second year in a row where we've had that so until we see you know kind of a break in the weather. And what does that mean. "Chips. He had a step back three when everybody in America new, he was going to shoot and beat the clippers and overtime yesterday even that series of to to dont`a ted forty three points, seventeen rebounds and thirteen assists rare air occupied by only Oscar Robertson and Charles Barkley and a playoff game will bond. What did you think of the performance and what does it mean for the clippers? Tony the performances you know since you in are on the phone, do what everybody else in America's doing we'll just go on I. It's a scream out loud moment. It's a matter who you're rooting for did this can you appreciate the game the result, the drama, and this kid his level of talent and poise and savvy he just turned twenty one years old fairly recently Tony as a look dodge I mean he's up there I mean I I would take. If you said who you'RE GONNA YOU'RE GONNA start a team right who you gonNA take. Okay. You're not to take Lebron. Of course, you take Lebron for any game but at thirty five. You wouldn't start a new franchise new team right with the thirty five year old Guy Chris. Paul, at thirty, four guys who and maybe maybe you do go with Kawai who I think is twenty nine but Tony Donncha would have to be near if not at the top of your list and what does it mean for the clippers? The are now walked into at least a six game series it which you've gotta think Dallas is going to get its second best player back on the court and their play what house money nobody thought they would win the Mavericks with House money here I still clippers to win, but it's going to be hard. So. So let me tell people you know in full disclosure. What happened yesterday after that shot within two seconds I called you in the moment i. heard you say Hello I said you tell me right now who's better than this guy because. A lot of people may be as good but right now who's better than Don-shik, and then we talked about who we thought of when we thought Don and my first reaction because of the wow factor in the fact that the balls in his hand all the time I thought of Pete Marich and you mentioned Magic Johnson and I liked that because Magic Johnson was very calm. He was very confident. He was very measured. The game seemed to slow down around Magic Johnson as it does with Don Chick but this kid right now again at twenty one. He's a complete. Wow. In terms of the clippers might if it goes to an I should tell people you pick the clippers in every gags to until at the moment you're into, it goes to seven. You play all year for Home Court? At seven there's no home court. So that changes the dynamic for an underdog right yes. Yes. But Tony I. I think the favorite always feels a little more pressure Tony Leonard yesterday was great himself. He was stretches team didn't win but Tony, he made the. Play in it wasn't a shot. He made the pass to put his team ahead with under ten seconds left is going to get overlooked. But if you talk about who, I would choose to win a game tonight, would it be dodgers? No is greatest he's been. It'd be Kawai Leonard Because I've seen them do multiple times and Tony I think why Leonard is going to be the guy that tips this in the favorite in favor of the clippers, which is why they went out and got him. Let me just say this the guy who's not going to be the guy is your guy playoff all absorbed don't go. There yesterday three of fourteen. One of seven from three. Nine. Point. Twenty nats triple singles. Yeah. He names himself playoff p what are we watching? We're GONNA. Pass the ball you can rebound to these don't. He's going to have to play to for the clippers to win and I think he will I do. With the sixers out of the bubble, their coach may be out of a GIG. The athletic reports that the team is expected to part ways with Brett Brown. What's unclear as to win could be any moment now philly got swept by Boston yesterday in a series. The sixers played without their injured star. Ben Simmons Tony. D expect major changes to a team that came so close to the Eastern Conference finals last season bounce bounce bounce out. Yeah a like you. I. Expect the coach to be gone. Even the player said the coach should be gone I believe Josh Richardson said. He's gotTa take accountabilities part of this whole thing. So he's he's gone in terms of major changes. No because I think you have to wait for Ben Simmons to get back Ben Simmons is an all-star and the ball is always in his hand. Now, the knock on him is he's not a good shooter Jason, Kidd never a good shooter magic. Johnson. Early in his career, not a good shooter, I think you wait and see what embiid and Simmons can do together before you make major changes Tony I've been going back and forth on this because of the whole stupid process which I liked to make fun of know I'll kick them winter down because I hated the process. Tanking to get more picks and people somehow thought that was brilliant. But let me just mentioned some salaries. Okay. Did the be incurred by the Philadelphia Seventy sixers Joel B twenty nine and a half million dollars next season Ben Simmons Twenty. Nine. Point two million Al. Horford. Twenty seven point five million Tobias Harris who by the way showed some courage yesterday by getting up after knock busting. His head opening coming back thirty three and a half million dollars next year how many of those you're gonNA be able to get rid of if you want to rework that team so it seems to me Tony. The first thing that the sixers might have to try Elton brand because this is now on his plate even though he wasn't part of the process, he did sign Horford. He is going to have to bring in a coach Tony who can look at these pieces and say I can fit them differently. I'll make this puzzle a little differently than Brett Brown did and we go from here. I. Think. That's what maybe you can move one of those pieces but who would you move and beat Beater Simmons? If you'RE GONNA move linchpins Deal well, I would not move either of them until another full year went by I mean they're young and I would want to see that in terms of Elton brand. He let jj, Cohen Jimmy Butler go right and they were leaving. They look like, anyway bail what happened the You You can keep people if you make a good enough offer and in terms of that coach, I am quite confident that people in Philadelphia will look to Jay right at Villanova don't know whether he'll take it. He's a Philadelphia boy you know maybe he looks around you know what Brad Stevens and says I can do this too but that's who they're gonNA look at according to the. Athletic the Brooklyn Nets speaking of looking for coaches are interested in Gregg Popovich coaching their team next season, and we'll explore that possibility. Popovich has coached the San Antonio Spurs the past get this twenty six years and he has won five championships there but the nets will have kyrie irving and Kevin Durant on the court. Next season will bond. Can you see Popovich going to the nets? Wrestle with this one too I mean from a basketball..

"Are a number of wnba players talking about what Kobe Bryant meant to them in their own words. Kobe, met a lot and he still means so much to me. The affects my life from the moment I met him and we talked a lot a lot of times beyond just basketball. He was an incredible example of the types of figures that young women need in their lives to believe that they can do the things that everyone can do. I just cherish every conversation. I had with these little moments that you take for granted because you think you're going to have for. You to say. Ask who was our biggest supporter? It was Koby. As women's basketball player at meant so much to me that Hughes fighting so hard to have recognizing make things more equal between the two games. He was a part of the women's game indefinitely pushing it forward, but also bringing awareness to it, bringing respect to it in allowing us to respect ourselves. He had all of their respect for us and I think that was key in us, moving upward in on and. Wearing the orange hoodie now, the Kobe was wearing orange city from the beginning back in ninety seven. I think we can continue to carry on Kobe's legacy by you know making sure we leave it on the court just the way that he gave everything he had to perfecting everything it took to accomplish his goals is something that I admired and not something that I learned from him is just that desire to be the absolute best. Kobe has left a blueprint for all of us of what he was passionate about and be have definitely take that blueprint and do something with it. From the men's..

"Injury. So it's just like right now if you guys aren't on the floor, you can't give the best product not very good continuity there just too many issues if your best players can't stay healthy. Them both no I just. WanNa know is in the last quarter blame pie and then I'm GonNa ask you for what to do next. So the your last quarter and then we're GONNA move sky you see you can have a floor after that I'm going to save Brett. Brown. As a last piece now, he wasn't given a whole lot to to to work with the SARS building a of smooth team would ultimately when you look at their road record, they were one of the best teams in the NBA at home and one of the worst teams in. The NBA on the road that's just a lack of consistency and this is not this is a veteran team. This is a team with talented guys that should be able to at least play five hundred on the road. There were struggling to win any games on the road and so that doesn't surprise me that you know the way they're playing right now are the way they just played. This was kind of like a neutral court that they weren't going to play well in this bubble crunch time. All right. So Scotty, now I want. To, get to it you have options, right Fire Brown Fire Brown and Elton brand just get rid of it and bran makes them sort of trade that's either trading away Joel Ben you have everything in front of you. What would you do if you were running the to own that? So I think you make you pretty simple. I think you you. You brought in our Horford. You paid them a lot of money. Let's start him. Obviously that will take moving be on, but I think for you to be a part of. What basketball is doing today playing small ball playing a guy like Ben Simmons as your big gallic our Horford who's very versatile. Now you putting yourself in a position to compete every night that this team goes out and they're putting embiid in awkward situations putting pressure on your defense. You got a seven footer out there on the floor. It puts a lot of pressure on you to be able to win when your defense is vulnerable night in and night out because you came play pick and roll, and that's where teams target them at. Stress you're not saying Al Horford is a better individual player Joel embiid you're saying is a better fit next to Ben Simmons. Fit for Ben Simmons. But I also think he's a great piece for them to get better. That's what I really see is it has to be him or been Simmons I. Think you get rid of be yeah. No I. I it's tough because when you look at these contracts.

Yes. I, believe in him I believe that over the course of winning a championship, you're going to have to three bad games that has foul trouble but right now, I, think there's some mental aspects to it and I don't know about physically but definitely mental. All Right Scottie Pippen says that he can see Luca smiling Paul George when Paul George comes to defend him. That's that's not what you want coming up. We're GONNA talk about the sixers they have been swept in the first round. Richard. Jefferson. "In Luke. Do I necessarily believe that? The Mavericks, I don't think not quite yet because I think eventually the clippers will start to turn around they will start to do some things trey trey burke who has been playing great plate. Amazing. Last game. So I necessarily believe in Trey Burke to give those types of contributions consistently no but I believe in Luca and I think the mavericks have a chance but I still stand by the clippers will. Okay. So to your point going into this series, I, think people would have had a conversation about whether Luca is above Paul George as quote best player in the series. I definitely. But then where you put Luca or Paul George going into the series might have been more a question I know for the first four games. We'll talk about that in a second. What about around the League? So if I was GonNa, say you had to win a game tonight? I'm not talking about building for the future you have to win a game tonight. How many players are you take the head of Luca Danni because he's a twenty one year old in his first ever playoff series and if you give me anything less than five or ten guys oh No, I think you know. Let's take K. D. instead of clay guys that aren't inland. But I'm just saying well, yes, because clay in game wins we talked about game six claims. Made done. Some absurd things he has made a lot of people taking him over anyone but my my thing is this. He hasn't facing elimination game right? He that was a very important win, but it hasn't facing elimination game. So I'm not being critical of them. I'm just saying that he's still top five but I think there's the bronze there's a Co. Wise. There's a few guys that you would take over him, but he yet to face an elimination thing though he's up there I think I think based on your question what's going on inside of the bubble? There's not too many players that you would take over him. There's obviously guys are playing well Donovan Mitchell letter but. It's going to be hard to look over a heart. We'll are I do want to circle back to Paul George after struggling in Games two and three of the series in another rough day yesterday guys scoring nine point three of fourteen from the field. Now earlier today Doc rivers says that he wants George to shoot even more quote. I feel very confident about PG Scotty, you are worried about Paul George when I asked you about him on Friday you're saying just focused on the defense are you starting to worry about? Well I'm still thinking that if he gets his defense going, he'll be better offensively I think Luca, Danni is dominating yeah I mean I don't think neither him or Kawai has taken on the challenge to say we're going to stop this kid you know using your also telling you big man's how the lane I mean to me he passes the ball when he wants to. And he's laughing at him when he passed it because it takes two or three of them to stop him. I'll. No. I completely agree with Scott it's like he is by far the second best player in this series, Luke Luke F and the if you're not shooting the ball well, just like all right I'm playing defense.

"How should Colin Kaepernick feel about Roger Goodell saying he wished we listened earlier. I'm all for in the General Utopian way that we can aspire to things giving somebody a chance to learn from their mistakes and figure things out, and then speak freely about the mistake they made. But when you've got a history of corporate but covering and when you were part of the problem because you didn't fight for anything meaningful when it was hard to fight for those things as opposed to now when it's the easiest thing in the world for but covering to say, Hey, my. Bad I should have listened more. You'll listen you ignored. You willfully ignored and put part of the pressure on him by not fighting your owners in a way that made a difference throughout that League cadel and its leadership in the NFL got it. All wrong. The admission that they got it. All wrong. Isn't an act of nobility. All is the most obvious thing in the world. Yeah we know riser we know. So this was on manual chose web series uncomfortable conversations with the black man. A manual did not make it as uncomfortable as I wish he would have for Roger Goodell because the questions were not probing questions didn't challenge him to speak to why he made the decisions that he did so Roger got to come out there and say, Oh, it was my bad i. wish we'd have done more but the most interesting thing to me was Roger told a story about growing up in a household where his father was a politician it's father was four the Vietnam War. And then decided to change his mind after meeting with college students and went against the Vietnam war and he's Rogers, said that his father told him I probably will not get reelected because of this because Nixon will turn against him and campaign against him he'll lose his reelection but Rogers said his father said this was the right thing to do I'm going to do it no matter the cost in the irony and Roger recognizing that there comes moments that sometimes you have to put what's Ahead. Of what's prudent him recognizing that he had that moment and passed on it like I. Feel like this is not enough just to say my bad at this point I can't clap. Realizing how wrong you were in the past or not even how wrong you're but. How cowardly, you are frankly not stand up when you knew what the right thing to do was an think if the question is how should cap feel I guess it's better than not admitting that they should have listened and they should have act differently. But as a very small concession for everything that has happened since Roger Goodell's Ben in Meat Shield for the owners for a long time. That's why he gets paid so much and that's the job that he does So we can separate Goodell at times from the rest of the ownership in the other times there's sort of this big monolith that represents the NFL, and in either case here, the actions were wrong and now the explanation is ally. The part about I wish we did it differently as absolutely true because they're looking at the shambles of what resulted from the way they reacted to capture nick and realized they'd be a much different position now if they hadn't acted that way but beyond that everything else is we wish we would have been able to sit down with him. Yeah. Absolutely. Couldn't we weren't sure what he was saying that you were sure and you intentionally misrepresented it so that you could try to appeal to a certain group of people that pay your bills and that have a lot of money. All these things are sort of empty. Now, because we know the NFL has to Dominique said piggyback on the winning side. But at the very least I guess saying we were wrong as this.

"Doctors returning for the Mavericks in a big way last night against the spurs after missing the last four games with an ankle injury. And you know what it was like. It was never even gone throwing down for twenty four points. Ten Rebounds and eight assists in the mountains. One Zero two to ninety eight victory over San Antonio Lucas name remains among the top in the MVP MVP race. And now we've got a new crew in studio and talk some basketball let's welcome in our MBA analysts Damon Jones and also we have Richard Jefferson joining us here in New York and of course. We've got our homegirl. Jay Gould McKay joining US Bristol. What's up what's good in the hood? Galveston he keeps its Galveston. It is the way. Are you a two eight one seven one three eight three two one four nine area code just just like New York you know what. Let's look certain to another city in Texas Dallas. What are you all think? Are you buying into the Luca Luca hype. Well I'm in a group chat with my nephews Keith. Thin Kendrick rows in Dallas Texas Okay and everytime looper uh-huh does anything good triple doubles. He plays well. I get alert on my phone and I'M GONNA say to America the same thing I say to them. He's having my good season and he's doing some good things but until he gets the Mavericks to the play offs. He's just another good player having a good season now so if he keeps the production up and he gets the Mavericks to the play offs. Then I'll be the first guy in passionate seat of Luca Bandwagon until the Dan. I understand that you want to be the first passenger. Could Your Big Bandwagon. That's The bandwagon. He yesterday all. He's he's a big band. Got My thing about Lucas. We're forgetting getting. The addition of Zingers Zingers a special unique player. So when you add the two of them together great things can happen Lucas special. I am a big Luca Fan. Do I believe that he he is an MVP not this year. I think I think Janas has separated himself from everybody else. I think the season that James Harden is having but also when you look to your point about getting to the postseason right now if the postseason where to start today it would be Dallas versus Houston in the first round now. That's a matchup that I think all of America would loved you got superstars. You got triple double machines. You've got a lot going against each other but I think right now with Luca I think we need to continue to watch his growth does he have an. MVP Pena's future. If I were to have to bet today the answer would be Oh of course but do I think that like he is top five. NBA Player. Right now I think he's most likely a top ten fantasy. See the thing. Is You guys have been conditioned to this term sophomore slump. A lot of people are used to in their second years in the season. Seeing players SORTA struggle in their second second year. This has not happened to Luka Luka has been immune and this is the Luca Donncha defect two years ago before the mavs drafted him they were twenty fourth fourth offensive efficiency this year. The Dallas Mavericks our first offensive efficiency. And if we WANNA talk about even the playoffs right now you said it there. Fifth in the standings innings last year the masculine not in the playoffs. What is the Luther? Dont`a Tibet now. I wound sportscenter earlier and I found this really crazy nugget from second spectrum using this advanced analytics Luca Danni has the most touches in the so. This was his time in the NBA. This season there win versus the Spurs. In which Luke Had had over a hundred touches in a game he passed Lebron James in that mark he is doing it. He's the reason. And if you think about this modern you know. NBA In the shots. What is the hardest yet? Most efficient shot. It's probably the step back. Three right. No one in the NBA. Except James Harden has more step back. Luca Danni Luca Danni is the heart and and so you say just giving him credit or even the fact that the mavs are in the conversation of you know possibly being in the playoffs. This is all Luca. Luca is a rare talent and people forget he's twenty years old not slumping his sophomore year. The fact that he also gives you twenty eight points per game almost ten rebounds and ten assists as a point guard. He is the reason why the mavs event but you competing and I agree with you. There he is the reason but you WANNA know why he's not having a sophomore slump is because he just added the Unicorn when you have a guy that's going to give you eight hundred nine coming back. Not Having played a year before he took it a complete year off coming back from injury. He's with a new team and a new system trying to figure it out when you add a special player like that like the way he's able to spread the four that it gives Luka more space to get to work so it gives them more opportunity and as far as your touches. The one thing that you're talking about Lebron James's him. They both play point guard for their team so like yeah. We're we're going to talk about point guards in the Mount of touches. Yes there is something to that but if you're playing point guard you're GONNA have the most amount of credit you deserve and I think Luka deserves most of the credit you're saying this is largely the Unicorn or Porzingas is result right. How did our Unicorn play in the first game back by Luca he sorta struggled? What was he one for? Nine two for nine in the first half. So far we have not seen the best version of PORZINGAS which but we have seen the best version of it. And I'm not going to let him talk taming. The one thing I'll say is this when you look at say. The warriors part of the reason why Steph has so much room to work is because of clay part of the reason why K. D. had so much room to work is because of staffing klay part of the reason why Luca has so much room to work is because of Porzingas so let's not discredited. I do think that Luka is a special and he's the best player but the reason why you have so much room to work in a sophomore slump is because they added presenting actually challenge balance that I think it's more of his pick and roll game because he has one of the most effective pick and roll duels. Dwight Powell I think last night. And all these nuggets from sportscenter they generated 21-points points straight up from the pick and roll his ability to pass. I know we talk about Lebron and we always make those comparisons between Lebron but luke ability to pass. He's not just generating points for himself self. He's doing it for others as well so I think that's looked past if you look at how he passes the ball. What is it's the flash in the flair always say sorry unless you get in their international players having different cadence to their game? It's not just being surrounded by shooters it's what he's generating not just only scoring but also facilitating for others breath. I'm hard on Luca Danni hits but I'm GONNA say this if he gets the Dallas Mavericks to the fourth seed or higher in the Western Conference. I'M GONNA put put him top two in the MVP race beer. Well you're not that stupid but I would it be stupid anything that you just WanNa make sure I'm saying what why I mean. You got the Lakers. You got the clippers. You got the rockets. If you have the Dallas Mavericks in the foresee the he's he is the best player but he he added Porzingis. Well laws the best player and he added day and the number one seed location jumps at the Lakers. Made when you add another great player or to the team. I'm just saying whether or not you personally want to buy into the hype. He's doing big things on the court. Doing big things off the court you just inked a big deal with Jordan brand grand sell out there making that money too so gentlemen. Thank you so much as always thank you. Also as we walked suburban Garden gnome Catholic Catholic with outstanding debit. We noticed that it moves like not at all it's inanimate and utterly without brain function but despite that when it got known hears about how Gyco not only saves these people money but also gives them access to licensed agents twenty four seven online and over the phone. It's clear to them. You should switch because yes switching to geico is a no Brenna on second thought. Maybe don't watch. God knows to carefully people might talk. "Now it's three. He's just twenty years old and he's barely played a full NBA season but Luca Danni is already dominating believe everyone it should have seen this coming while. Luca Excelled in Europe as a teenager ahead of the draft. There were doubts about whether his skills would translate to the American game. mm-hmm today why the skeptics were wrong. And how we could taking his game to new heights. I mean it comes. It's Wednesday December. Fourth this is ESPN daily presented by indeed All Right Mike. How's it going? Good how are you. I'm good so look dodge one rookie of the year last season. But even with that accolade. I don't think people expected him to take such a rapid leap to becoming an MVP caliber player now. Two years ago you wrote a story about him the title was there's never been an NBA draft prospect. Like Luca Dodge. So you early on him but even you have to be surprised prized by what's happened. We've never seen this from twenty year old kid. Averaging almost thirty ten and ten and his team is winning too you know. They're in the top four five the western conference what he's doing is unprecedented. Mike Schmitz covers the NBA draft for ESPN and sure. We were extremely high on him. But I don't I don't think even you know his biggest fans could see this coming. was there a moment this season when that really jumped out to you. I was watching him against the Lakers. You know the other day in sharing the court with Lebron. You'd think that you should be able to see. Maybe a sizable gap between a guy like that in a twenty year. Old Kid like Luca Danni and he completely really dominated the game in. A Nice Turnaround Lakers skept doctors. Dot Chech- is pretty stuff. He is just a baller. I'm just glad it was like a slow death. For the Lakers they were throwing blitz is at him all these different pick and roll coverages and he just was picked apart completely beverly and saw the step back against Lebron bother trouble now against stepping back deep three they face his I q inability to just fuel the game is a completely different level. And he's he's blown me away. When when we are having lunch earlier you said he was the best player on the court? He was the best player in the Korea in that particular game. He was yes he he is by far better than Lebron. No I mean he's inching toward that you know. When Lebron was that age he was still kind of coming into his own? All as a perimeter shooter He wasn't nearly as efficient as Lucas Ben. This season and that calcium was forty two and forty in the East Luca. Has this team winning. Well let's back up and explain to people why you were even in a position to know who who could before the rest of the world what do you do at ESPN so cover the NBA draft. But there's a lot of different levels to that so we really start following these kids. Jonathan Devonian I when they're fifteen sixteen years old whether it's USA basketball here in the states or in Europe so I'll go to the under sixteen European championships every summer. I spend probably two two and a half months in Europe maybe three months once every year and then also during the summers to check out all the FIBA stuff. When was the first time you heard about Luca? And when did you first see him play. You heard Rumblings flings of this you know fourteen fifteen year old kid practicing with grown man he won. MVP of of the MINKO over there with row Madrid. And that's kind of when you first start. Seeing you know the videos. You have contacts over in Spain in Europe. And they're tiny man like there's this kid we've never seen anything like this and I was so intrigued that I decided to follow him to Helsinki Finland and watch him with the Slovenian national team and it was then that I really you know realized that okay. This kid has a chance to be special when you I started looking into him reporting on his back story his family his upbringing. What did you find? I've found Chid that had been dominant at every stage in who grew up with basketball in his hands. His Dad was a really good player in his own right played with Goran dragic for a little bit in Slovenia and he was the little kid you know the ball boy he was he was mopping the floors. He was always around the guys so he was clearly passionate about basketball very young the age when he was Kinda. I getting going in in Slovenia with Olympia Louisiana they had an off day and I think it was a Saturday. Okay and The coach told them. Hey Luka dough home you know play with your toys like relax via normal kid is a okay okay you know yes coast and then the next day. The coach gets a call from his family. Saying hey like we told them to relax. We told them to play with his toys. He's not having like he wants to come. Man He wants to get up shots he wants to play and so this is always a kid who was in love with basketball and then he just started dominate like when they took him to his first. Practice with Olympia in Ludhiana is hometown. They within fifteen minutes. They moved him up to the next level and then up to the next level and he was just shredding everybody and then so eventually it came time to come together as a family and say okay. What's the next step for this kid? Agrees to five year deal with Real Madrid and then kind of the rest is history So full disclosure. I I talked to you about him when I was doing a story myself on. Luca ahead of the draft went to Spain to to watch him play and I think what I didn't understand until we spoke was the level of competition. He was playing with as a teenager in the euro league because he looked good he looked like he fit in but that level of competition to play basically to be a teenager. Playing with grown men is something that really set him. Apart from American kids no question I think his biggest naysayers are maybe people who don't fully comprehend the level over there like the earliest by far the second best league in the world like he's the best player in the second best league in the world like late clock. He's they're running everything through all five. I point right now in so once you kind of realize that and and put that into context you recognize like okay. This kid really does have a chance to be something great. So American basketball fans a certain kind of American basketball fans very devoted to the game. I learned about Luca Danni which during during this year a basket tournament Slovenia was playing Latvia. Leaving the quarter finals and there were clips of Luca playing kristaps porzingus that inserting cores the Internet. They went viral. What happened so Luca? Basically took kristaps on the perimeter outside the dungeons and good looking to celebrate a few different occasions switched onto him. You know in a stance him with this patented step back going left and then gave them a hesitation. Blue right bombed his right finishes at the Rim for Sega took it in. I think answered a lot of questions from scouts at that time. I'm like can this guy. Go get a bucket against a long athletic defender if you switched out on the perimeter. And that's exactly what he did two kristaps you mentioned the word athletic fled Ick who I think. That was the biggest question. Mark about him heading into the draft and a lot of it was fair. You know what from watching him play but then I think someone also was influenced by stereotypes about European players. How do you think that impacted sort of the conversation around around? Luca headed the draft. There's certainly level of fear with international prospects as opposed to college guy. You know there's just more comfort having having seen some kid at USA basketball having seen him at the Nike Hoop Summit. A going to college practices. You just see those guys more. I do think that you need go over there. And see the level for yourself and for the people who didn't have the luxury of doing that it was a lot easier to say okay. This guy's games.

"Oh here's this crazy lunatic again. He's added and I understand that but with Kyrie though it's it's tough because he did kind of make his bed here a little bit with the conspiracy theory stuff a few years ago and I think that is also a takeaway for other players. You know if you WANNA WANNA flirt and be goofy a kind of different and floor with these kind of crazy ideas on the Internet and build up your brand that way. There are potential negative repercussions percussions. You are exposing yourself to a backlash Depending on how the rest of your career goes out. I think that's just a fact if Kyrie had never said anything controversial kind of Iffy it just been the boring superstar you know the the guy who sells the Pepsi and and keep it moving I don't know if if there would be as much attention or focus by the entire entire media on some of these specific episodes. What do you think? Well I think there's there's there's kind of compounding issues here which has Kyri as a person and as a personal brand. which is you're saying if you project certain kind of image that can be susceptible to jokes and punch lines of a particular kind or in this case kind of twisting a couple of incidents into public diagnosis or whatever it may be? And then there's the question of you know when you're a person who lives and works very closely with a broader group in this case like a basketball team. I mean you're traveling with these people. You're in a locker with these these people you're practicing and shooting around playing high stakes games with these people like your mood is going to have an impact on them and so it was interesting to me that you know the quote it seemed like it got pulled and grabbed onto the most of this idea but Kyrie having mood swings and that was that was the phrase that I was in Jackie's original piece which one doesn't doesn't seem like breaking news. Exactly this isn't something we didn't know about Kyri in terms of his temperament but also when you work as a member of a team your temperament is going to affect the people around you and so we have to be honest about that stuff. We WanNa be you know against sensitive to it in terms of the individual but if you are susceptible to certain kinds of swings or certain kinds of of anything that affects your mood in a particular way and people are in that close proximity in that concerted proximity around you. It's going to affect on the ecosystem and it's something that we can't even even pretend that the nets weren't asking about and weren't doing their due diligence on weren't trying to grapple with before giving him one hundred thirty one hundred forty million dollars. Whatever the number in AH being so from that perspective it is strange to me that this became as explosive a thing as it did because all the story really said was that Kyri is the guy who is who you know who we thought he was and that the nets tried to get to the bottom of who that was and even now are starting are trying to grapple with what that means? Yeah I mean I think it does confirm a lot of the concerns that people had about their off-season approach myself included and. We'll see what happens when Kevin Durant falls into this situation. Does he make things better or does he make things worse. Once he's on the court or will it not matter I mean are these some issues that are off the court that are you know so significant significant that you know. The usual team up superstar thing is not going to be as influential as we thought that some in the track I think as we go forward over the next twelve months. Hey Rob on a lighter note. We're going to close out with this one from James He writes Rodney Hood could not get hired at applebee's he has to be the least flare guy in the NBA and that's a reference to their buttons and all the things the applebee's employees like to put on there to kind of stand out and be distinguished extinguished. But James runs it down. Rodney Hood has no arm sleeves. No headbands no tights. He keeps a standard business haircut. He has no visible tattoos. His his uniform seems to be not totally fitted in other words. He's not you know Sizing down a few like Dwight Howard to Kinda show off his physique. He's just kind of The normal right in the middle type of guy. I of all rob. Did you notice this. And what do you make of it if you were an NBA a player. Would you follow the Rodney Hood model and just be straightforward or. Would you add some flare. What would you do? It never really occurred to me until James pointed pointed this out but then I started thinking about what flare I would want Rodney Hood to wear like what weird historical MBA accessory. Could we throw on him to give him a little flavor. And I I kind of settled on the Mid-2000s Amari stottlemyre like new age. I think would be a really good look for him personally. I'm like I'm very very much a headband person. Mostly for practical reasons. But I think for Rodney. It'd be really good. Look I was trying to picture what I would wear I keep coming up with this idea of a spacesuit. Okay I would wear basically the compression undershirt that Anthony Davis worse right that kind of like goes down to your mid mid by then I would definitely wear arm sleeves on both arms so essentially my entire skin would be covered and then below I would have relatively short brawny style shorts. I'm not gonNA fold them over like those guys do for Sierra Canyon but you know relatively form fitting shorts but then I would have white tights underneath underneath and then I think I would try to have like compression socks underneath my normal socks so basically I think for home games. I would try to go all white with all of that that and then for road games I would try to go completely black I'm looking. I'm picturing Neil Armstrong sort of is what I'm going for. Obviously no helmet with the glass. What do you think rob would would that make me a A fashion icon in today's NBA. I mean certainly stand out. So I guess that makes you a fashion icon to somebody But I actually reminds me of remember. How many years ago? This was now where I think it was the Lakers. And Celtics did like a throwback game they were you know some some retro versions of their jerseys. He's like complete with the really short shorts I thought NBA players then. Kinda copped out doing like long compression shorts under these short NBA shorts arts. which I don't think really works and it Kinda reminds me if you're going head to toe covering every inch of skin possible with compression clothing? I don't I don't know if it's going to be a great look free then I also.

"I think that he tends to fall in love with his draft picks and overvalue overvalued the guys that he's selected and believe in them harder and longer than anyone else and so to see him cash in for Kevin Love where. There's some pretty obvious obvious red flags. Yeah I'm not sure necessarily that. He would do it. Another one. I've seen floating around rob would be a deal maybe with the Houston Rockets. Where you're you you know you building it around Clint Cappella and swapping him for Kevin Love? What do you think about that fit? That would obviously put him into another big three. It would reunite night him with his College Buddy Russell Westbrook and it will also just shake up Houston it and they need a shakeup at this point. I mean things have been pretty ugly there at times seems to start the season Thumbs up or thumbs down. I mean I I would go thumbs down just because it may be one of the worst defenses on record if it turns out that way. If you're asking Kevin love to play. I five long-term it's already been a just a disastrous defensive performances. Start this season and while they could use the spacing and empirically. They've been really good when you can have spacing five in there to go with some really elite penetrators. There's also the question of you know like heir Gordon already kind of chafing against his his lack of touches and lack of shots and he hasn't really been able to find a rhythm. Is there enough room for a star level power forward. Kevin Love even when who's used to playing with the broad and used to play you no being a spot up guy For good portion of his career now is there room for a player like that alongside James Harden and Russell Westbrook. Are you starting to agree with me that Houston might just be broken man. Well I think offense works really well. I've been really encouraged by that overall. The Gordon part aside. I think the offense has been pretty successful. It's just the question is can they stop anybody. And they're giving up a ton of threes of giving up a lot of really good threes. There's just a lack of coordination. There's a lack of defensive positioning. It's it's stuff you would expect act with a team that relies on both hard and and Westbrook on the perimeter for a lot of minutes but even just the the overall coordination of the defense I think has been pretty disappointing so far. No it's so impressive. It doesn't matter how far gold state falls Houston's GONNA find a way to fall further. I checked the defensive stats today. Golden State Twenty ninth in the League in Defensive Efficiency Rob. I'm going to give you one. Guess WHO's third. No no did they fall. Rides hits. You wouldn't believe it is the Houston Rockets. And they've earned it man. They got run off the floor embarrassed by the Miami Heat. They gave up a hundred and fifty fifty eight points to the Washington Wizards in one game. That sounds like ten quarters worth the basketball against the wizards in four quarters. It's a mess man. I I think they're broken right now and I wouldn't be surprised you know we. I came in kind of hyping up the dark clouds. Over that franchise whether it's ownership front office this Locker Room Chemistry and I do think it's fair to say there's a time line Or a timetable for every player being willing to be James Harden's teammate. Right by being willing to play the style where it's completely early built around him. And now you're bringing in Russell Westbrook and I think a lot of the attention focused on the offensive fit between those two players. But I do think there's trickle down effects to whether it's Gordon or everybody else. There's a lot of sacrificing going on and it's just not the most enjoyable basketball experience to be You know watching these guys do their thing thing and not necessarily keeping everything balanced especially when you realize on the defensive end. They're going to be minuses. They're going to be drags and you're going to be responsible for picking up the slack and picking up the pieces. I mean to me being anyone like person three through thirteen on Houston's sends roster pretty miserable experience and it doesn't surprise me at all that they've been super shaky super inconsistent and Mike Dantonio. Kind of already You know inching pushing towards the panic button a little bit down there I think it's something to watch you know I. The thirtieth defensive rating to me is such a red flag when you look at some of these other teams in the league that are dealing with injuries that are dealing with just poor rosters and a lack of talent for Houston to be worse than all of them. It's crazy. Why do you think if you're the third player on the team onward it playing with those two guys can't prop you up in a certain sense like if you're PJ Tucker offensively urine just a perfect role for you? And you're not overstretch and I do too much. You can be kind of maximally efficient but you really do as you mentioned. Have to be wired in a particular way where you can get up and defend. You can be locked in on possessions even when you haven't touched the ball in half a quarter not built for that. It's very hard and as you alluded to. It's hard to do year after year after year. And so I don't know what you know. Ultimately wear the rockets will come down over the course of the season. I think it's you know we can't write them off yet. It's only been six so games. I think there's still some reason to be optimistic about their chances but the defenses absolutely not one of them all right. Let's shift gears to another team. that Made a deep playoff run last year and then as maybe dealing with a little bit of a bounces to start the season. That's the Milwaukee Bucks. Alfred writes all the buzz around around. The bucks is about making a midseason shade particularly for Chris. Paul is this not an admission of total failure by the Bucks Front Office Chris. Paul is a negative hatred of expected value in the playoffs at this point in his career given that he has missed vital parts of the last two postseasons trading for him would be a pure gamble. Why does a team that was supposed to be number? One in the eastern conference needs to be making gambles like this except for a total failure on behalf of management. Very very pointed question from Alpha. I think of a few reasons first of all AL remember Jaanus Kinda came out of nowhere. Right and so- Milwaukee was in a little bit of scramble mode in terms of building around him after he blew up. It wasn't like they were like carefully cultivating this young core of guys who are going to grow together You know one year honest just showed up as an all star and it was like. Oh all right now are timelines completely different than it was before. And they haven't been a major destination franchise in decades so it took a real shift the focus it actually involved. A front office changes well so there was a lot going on there. That's number one number two. You see the Chris. Paul stopped because Eric Bledsoe. I'm not sure there's anyone left. Who Trusts Eric Bledsoe in the playoffs at this point now might sound a little bit harsh? But it's been two straight years now where he's faltered and I think if you take Chris Paul and put him in the Eastern Conference playoffs Some of The critics or criticisms that have come his way a over. The years in the postseason are going to be You know a little bit lessened you know. I just competitions easier. He's going to look better and more productive Relative to the talent out there so I think that he would actually be kind of a value. Add for a team in the postseason but rob I guess. Alf is really trying to hint at this. Idea is is something rotten in paradise right. Is Milwaukee still the same juggernaut that they proved to be last year or have they entered sort of a different phase of their organization. Asian Franchise What have you seen so far from them? early on To kind of answer that question I think a lot of eve already hit on. which is that Eric? BLEDSOE is not not good enough for his current job. And that's something that's going to be hard to work around all year and as we've seen every postseason that these on the team and so you have to consider point guard alternatives. You have to consider potential trades. It's not just a matter of a guy who can shoot or not shoot blood so I think puts you in so many difficult spots as an offense and that's a tough thing to say. Because he is a really good defender he can be very effective on that side of the ball. But if you're going to run through Yana you have to have players. Who can fit around him? A little bit more seamlessly than Bledsoe does and and I think that's where Chris Paul seems like a palatable alternative a guy who can run on offense who's shown that he can do really well with second units when you're superstars off the the floor who can fill that role pretty spectacularly who just kind of knows what to do in ways that you see blood so the ball swings to him on the catch any freezes for second cantor. He doesn't want to shoot or he'll come out and shoot five threes and a quarter just to try to prove that he can it just this perpetual yo-yoing between being indecisive and being overly decisive. They put them in a really awkward space in the bucks in awkward spaces as a result of that. I do want to correct the record a little bit. I mean I feel like I'm doing the same thing I did with Paul George with Chris. Paul here are on the idea that Chris Paul was how like or what have a negative expected value as postseason performer. As offset I think is a little off at this point and this happens ends with a lot of guys who are you. Know earning a different stage of their career. But Paul is really important to the rockets. Even the last season's playoffs where against the warriors. When he was on the floor they were basically break even team when he was off the floor they were getting crushed? I think having him as a secondary ball handler can be really impactful and important for the right team. You don't want him running the entire show anymore necessarily necessarily but I still think he's pretty good. I mean I think in a vacuum in if you take away the salary concerns with the long term considerations he could be good good for a team like Milwaukee it all that baggage that makes him really hard to acquire in to deal with and to really consider as a part of your team's future when he's going to be making so much money. Yeah I'll take Chris Paul on crutches over Eric Bledsoe in the playoffs right now and I wouldn't think twice about it so I mean you know. We're dealing expected value value conversation. Let's focus on the expected value of some of the guys. They already currently have in place. And I think that's why ownership has gone a lot of justified flag here in the first week or two because of of you know the the Malcolm Brogdon absence and factor. I think You know that's GonNa be something that hangs over this franchise the whole season long definitely when we get to the trade deadline that decision Asian not to pay him is going to loom large. And it's going to apply some pressure on their front office to go do something I have seen a lot of hand wringing about Milwaukee's offense to start uh-huh essentially saying look it's not the same aggressive downhill type style inside out type offense that we saw last year you know the numbers bear that out definitely to a a certain degree Jaanus I think is responsible for even more of that than he was last year. Just because you know Brogden out of the picture But big picture Milwaukee's offense is still number two in the League as we're speaking right now. They've had some very successful nights. There's been a couple of eggs that have been confusing to me and kind of make me wonder whether they are in a little bit of a you know a hangover effect this season. Just knowing that they're not that young up come up and coming whippersnapper. Appetite team like they were last year where it was everything was new and they were getting into an incredible grew for month after month and and just wanting to punish everybody. I'm not sure I've seen. The bucks reached that level or sustain that level so far this season but the basic math of their offense is still pencilling out and they should be on track to me. you know to have a very high win total in the regular season so it's not the end of the world but I do think some of the other pressure on going out after a guy like Chris Paul just comes from Philly looming. Philly has looked awesome. Philly has definitely looked better than Milwaukee so far to start the season there are more talented their more rugged rugged. They're bigger I would say their lineup. You know one. Two five is better than Milwaukee's one five and so That's going to apply a pressure as well. It's not just about. Hey we gotta keep on happy. We've got to keep him in town. We got to resign him. But it's also about. Hey there's a one other team in this conference that really poses big time problems problems for us. Do we have enough talent to take them down. I think those are the questions that are going to drive Milwaukee's thinking as we go forward here. We got another question from Stab Avenue Australia. One of the greatest and longest standing open floor globe members he writes has any team in. NBA History. Gone winless at home for an entire season. If not could the warriors be the first to achieve this milestone and I had to look this up rob so the two thousand twelve Bob. Cats had four home. Wins out of sixty six games. The nineteen forty eight providence. Steam rollers had two home. Wins in a forty eight game season. The nineteen seventy-three sixers had five five home wins in an eighty two game season and the nineteen fifty-three Philadelphia warriors had five home. Wins in sixty nine game season. So basically we're looking at a record here for an eighty two game season if golden state wins fewer than five home games if they just punt on curry like if the three month time I'm line comes and goes and then they say you know what he needs another month or you know they kind of drag it out..

"Let's switch gears to double back here on something that we talked about in-depth a few weeks ago. That's the China issue. Now now. This week I talked to the head of the players. Union Michelle Roberts as. She gave really her first. Extensive comments about the fallout from China. And about what it meant to players and basically her union members and we'll just go through this quickly she says we don't have the luxury of confining ourselves elves to the four corners of the United States as the game is expanding globally and the union is interested in having a greater impact outside the United States. I need to and the players need to be more aware of the world around us the China standoff were difficult days and the problem hasn't gone away. We need to address it as a union and as a sport. We've got to be a little bit more intentional. About how we navigate the world given what happened this past month and then I said of course well. How do you plan to do that? She said for many of the players that went over to China. It was their first trip. There many had no idea what was going on in Hong Kong and most Americans let alone basketball. Players are not aware of the politics in that region. If we're going to be sending our guys all over the globe we have to make sure there are with the knowledge of where they are going and what's is happening in the locales there visiting that. That's a role. We're going to play as a union. It's a role. I don't think we've done a good job of fulfilling to date. So Oh she's falling on the sword here a little bit for guys like Lebron James and James Harden who got a lot of heat for their comments on China. She's basically saying look as a union. We needed to to give these guys information before they even went to China Or before you know. As soon as omori sparked a controversy so that everybody was fully informed incapable of commenting one other issue that came up to mine rob was actually a couple years ago. Do you remember when Kevin Durant went to India and came back and was talking about monkeys in the streets and cows everywhere and how far behind the Times India was and he was met with really loud kind of boisterous of criticism for being culturally insensitive. I think that experience coupled with this China experience I think both of those things are influencing Michelle Roberts here I think she's realizing that if the NBA keeps doing these global games and these preseason and there's going to be an Olympics of course in Tokyo next summer that that these problems are just going to continue happening they gotta figure something else out. No that's a great poll on Kevin Durant comments. Andy I totally forgotten about that. Honestly the the cycle Michael moves so quickly. But I I mean Michelle Roberts is being a realist here and as a representative for the players in mass. You just can't take a stance that everyone should make less money because we're GONNA take a political stance regarding this giant international market. It's just not something you can realistically do and sell to your constituency and so taking the tact of you've done this is where the NBA is going is an expansionist league in that phase of its growth and therefore the most important thing we can do is make sure that everyone is appropriately briefed on what to say or not to say or how to approach international politics or politics on an international stage or not engage with them at all. I think that's really kind of the bare minimum of of where the Union Union and the League needs to be. And it's it's a party that you and I kind of glossed over in our initial discussions of this I think we are focusing a lot on Lebron specifically or the NBA at large the League office. And what they should have done but the union I think does have a really prominent role to play in this enters. Getting guys up to speed whenever they go in these kinds of trips for sure and we know her constituents WanNa do business in China right so she her hands are tied Kinda multiple different ways. It's not just about this idea. Oh yeah we're going to pull out of China it's like no. We're actively actively wanting to be involved in doing business with endorsement deals and everything else selling merchandise China. So how do we do it the right way. So that we don't wind up being the enemy of the state right totally pragmatic approach from her She also kind of closed the the interview by saying you know what I wished the players would call me more. I be glad to give them advice on this kind of stuff and I could Kinda here like a plea inner voice and I really felt for because I'm sure they were blindsided by this at the players. There's and you just like everyone else. And and they really didn't take any criticism throughout the whole thing. I mean not really all fell to the NBA. I think that's appropriate. But it did make me wonder like who was doing the briefing. If there was any briefing of these players I imagine it would have just been the team. Pr Professionals Right. And so maybe they didn't feel adequately adequately prepared in these situations Maybe they didn't have a directive from above from the NBA. As it was happening in real time I mean it's clear that Pretty much everyone including leading the League office based on their first statement was kind of caught off guard. And I think there's probably just a trickle down effect which led a lot of people to you know kinda muzzle up not say anything And then just kind of you know wait until you come back to the United States and to me. That should be cleaned up. I mean they can't allow that kind of ugly silent silence type situation to fester in future trips abroad. They can definitely do a better job personally. I'm glad the Union is stepping up. Because I think that they've got a lot of resources uses. They've helped the players in lots of different ways. I mean it just seems to me like if you can go to the Union and get a grant for your charity or you can take Ak- class on how to become a restaurant franchise owner or you can get an internship with some Silicon Valley Tech Company through the Union or take classes as you know through Harvard Business School. You should at least be able to get a packet of information. That explains the Hong Kong Situation Right. I mean that seems like kind of a bare minimum and so I'm glad they're doing that all right. Let's switch gears rob two questions from the open floor. They emailed US Open floor. Male Edgy Mill. Dot Com. Open floor male edgy. Mud Dot com Daniel from Poland rights. We need a rescue mission. I can't watch. Kevin love wasting his time in Cleveland. Anymore I just finished watching the first quarter versus Dallas. He's still very good thirteen points in six minutes on seven shots. I'm afraid playing with concepts and long-term might make him consider early. Retirement meant love. Should be on a real team. Where do you think he fits? Best and Daniel throws out the ideas of Boston or Portland. What do you think rob is there? There are a team you would like to see. Make a move for Kevin Love. I mean the trick with this stuff is always the salary matching right especially because Kevin lets making twenty eight million dollars and so it's who is competitive who needs a power forward and who also has enough expendable salary or room to accommodate that kind of deal and so I thought about Miami for a little bit because is what is Kevin love if not just like a better version of Meyers Leonard. And what they have in that there but I don't see them. I don't see them parting. With justice wins is low or tyler hero Obama by on a deal. And so it's kind of a nonstarter you know. Maybe they've gone dragged and some stuff but I don't think that's very attractive. Deal for the blazers are for the the cavs not to to jump ahead by due to blazers are ultimately despite that makes the most sense as it turns out with a low you know power forward on the trade market. That's that's kind of the natural landing spot and I think it's you know they have some salary to deal with. Whether it's you know Hassan whiteside potentially or as Moore is a pretty big contract. You could deal but I think exact collins could be an interesting piece to entice the cavs with and if you're if you're in the blazers position and I think they have a lot of stuff they figure out over the course of the year but starting with some playmaking making some shooting at the four spot in a more dedicated capacity could make a lot of sense for them. Yeah Man I can really see that one both way. So first of all Zach Hall and suffered a shoulder injury. So he's out and he's going to have surgery he's out in. I'm not sure if they have a time on yet but presumably quite a while right so there need at that. Spot is just even more heightened and if view start picturing a lineup where Damian Lillard CJ mccollum Rodney Hood. Kevin Love Yousef Merkich as your playoff starting five live with a bunch of veteran guys kind of coming off the bench. I mean that starts to get pretty tasty right now. You can start to picture that you got some shooting for multiple spicy. Got Three guys who can score score. You Got Multiple Front Court playmakers who can pass a basketball That gets pretty interesting. I think the hang up for Portland. Though the two major contracts attracts with Damian Lillard at CJ mccollum adding a third huge deal and Kevin Love's making twenty eight point nine this year more than thirty in the next two seasons it it gets really tricky to sustain depth. I think going forward if you have all three of those contracts on the books it does help that. Turkish is on a kind of a bargain deal Jio based on his production so that could help alleviate some of that and of course there's also the local angle with Kevin love having gone to to Lake Oswego high school so I think there's a lot to think about their. If you had the choice on your Portland would you rather rent Danilo Gallinari and basically take him on the expiring contract. I pay that smaller price to get him and realize maybe you're not bringing him back next summer or take on this long term deal for Kevin Love where where I think. His contract runs through his age. Thirty five season which will mean that you know a couple of years from now he could be kind of killing your window just uh-huh presence of his deal. Yeah I think it depends on how small the return investment is in terms of what you're sending out because if it's a one year thing then collinses this is kind of a nonstarter. I think any Simon's guys like that or kind of a nonstarter because if if you're Portland you want to be very careful about not trading away your upside guys. If you're not getting adding something pretty concrete in return. I Love Danilo Gallinari and his game. I think you'd be really smart. Fit there for you. Know own a variety of ways but if you can't bank on him being their beyond the season I don't know that's something I'd be super interested in. Yeah I mean I think Portland I feel like they might be a little skittish on a cabinet level. I guess I have to be I have to see it to believe it would actually take on You know that huge investment..
